The River & Rowing Museum is a unique education center that celebrates the history of rowing, featuring a design that combines elements of a barn and boathouse. Located at Mill Meadows, just a 5-minute walk from the town center and railway station, this museum offers an in-depth exploration of the River Thames's history and the sport of rowing. It also houses captivating tableaux inspired by 'The Wind In The Willows,' which are particularly popular with children aged 5 and above.
Super museum with so much to see and learn about. Good cafe with wide food/drink choices. Friendly and very helpful staff. Great for a rainy day, but even better with a walk along the Thames towpath
Sharon D — Google review
I started my visit with a coffee in their cafe because it was bit chilled day and had long walk at Thames Path. After feeling cosy, i started to explore this museum. Good to know that its not inly a museum but collaborating with other artists for exhibition. I think its layout attracting all ages. Btw great location next to River Thames.
Win T — Google review
My 8 year old son gave it a “mega brilliant 5 billion stars” review. I thoroughly enjoyed it too. The Wind in the Willows audio guided tour shouldn’t be missed, it’s magical and beautifully constructed. The river and rowing galleries upstairs are surprisingly fascinating. There’s an excellent collection of everything river and rowing related from across the world. Clearly they’ve worked hard to make it interesting for kids and adults alike. Plus have things and areas for lots of different age groups as well. We spent so long in the museum we didn’t have time to try the cafe, but it looked good too. Plus it’s conveniently located for the train, walking, cycling and parking. Definitely 5 stars.

We recently had our wedding at this wonderful venue. From the moment we found it and all the way through to the actually day, the team at the RRM have been sensational. They care so much and went the extra mile. Every guest complimented the venue which offered so much more. The Willow trees felt like were giving us a big hug. We had the weather on our side and the day was perfect. Thank you Sarah, Jamie and the team for making our day so so so so special. We have raved about your venue to all and no doubt you shall get more bookings. The RRM are passionate about keep the education alive regarding the river and rowing boats and we are delighted to help fund the cause. Parking was ample, so much space within the venue and fun for all. Being so close to the river and many children activities was a win with the parents. Thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts. We shall visit to say hello again.
Brin — Google review
A magical museum...the wind in the willows part is like a fairy land and well worth a visit. We also really enjoyed the rowing section and the amazing history of the Thames. We went free with the art card as I think it's expensive to enter otherwise. Great museum and well worth a visit.
Rachael S — Google review
All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed this museum. It's supposed to be closing for good in September (unless they get financial assistance), which will be a great shame. The food in the cafe is really good too, and that can also be accessed by the non paying public.
Anita D — Google review
Fantastic museum loads to to see. Information about Henley, rowing, the river itself. They also when we visited they had a lovely wind in the willow exhibition, a photography exhibition and my favourite a space exhibit showing artifacts from human space flight. The space vault has objects and stories that accompany them, These items are amazing to see and a must see for any space fan. The objects might seem random to a none space fan but you have to remember that these are items from the Apollo missions up to current day space X missions, that are now in a private collection, therefore these items will always be smaller items that can appear on the open market for sale. It is great to see these objects of history preserved and available to see.
A W — Google review
A great place not only for Rowers! The collection is very impressive and covers all aspects of the traditional sport of rowing. If you row yourself, there is no discussion that you have to visit this place, but do not be afraid to bring your non rowing family with you... there is something for everybody. Decent ticket prices, it was not very busy even during school holidays. Do not forget to take pictures with the Redgrave/Pinsent statues in the back and check out the Row2Recovery boat, which has crossed the Atlantic!

Church
St Mary’s Church, situated on Hart Street in the heart of Henley-on-Thames, is a beloved ancient building that has been a prominent feature of the town for almost a millennium, dating back to the 12th century. The church boasts a picturesque exterior and an interior adorned with colorful 19th-century painted glass and beamed ceilings. It serves as a stunning venue for musical performances and evensong, offering visitors an atmospheric setting for spiritual reflection.
This church participated in the Heritage Open Day and we were welcomed by a knowledgeable guide and were given a printed booklet for a self-guides tour, concentrating on the wonderful stained glass windows. They are truly magnificent, most depicting biblical events or persons. A favourite for me was an image in the window of the Baptistry of the animals entering Noah's Ark.
T H — Google review
Lovely old church worth popping in for the stained glass windows made in memory off locals past.

A beautiful church! Shines across the rooftops as well. Just a shame it’s right by a disgusting road.

Bridge
Henley Bridge, a picturesque five-arched structure built in 1786, spans the river from Henley to Remenham. It is a popular subject for postcards and photographs of Henley-on-Thames. The bridge offers a charming walk over the river and serves as an ideal spot to admire the sunrise or sunset over the Thames. While it provides a sturdy crossing point for pedestrians on the Thames Path, cyclists may find it challenging to navigate due to limited space alongside traffic.
A beautiful bridge and a perfect vantage point to catch the sunrise or the sunset over the river Thames water when you are in Henley. Not easy to navigate on a bicycle when the traffic backs up as there is only just enough room for cars and they rarely leave space for us cyclists.
Krish K — Google review
Nice bridge for crossing the Thames river but i like it because it provided me a stage to get some nice photos of surrounding area. Even though it creating nice atmosphere in the area.
Win T — Google review
Just spent a lovely afternoon wandering around Henley-on-Thames, and the bridge was definitely a highlight! The Henley Bridge itself is stunning - the stonework is so elegant, and the arches create such a picturesque scene over the water. I spent ages just watching the boats go by and soaking in the atmosphere. The views from the bridge are incredible, especially towards the riverbanks lined with trees. It's the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll and some photos. If you're ever in Henley, make sure to take some time to appreciate this beautiful landmark!
Lindsey R — Google review
A sturdy crossing point of the Thames and for walkers on the Thames Path heading away from London it is the first point where you enter Oxfordshire.

Henley Royal Regatta is a renowned event that draws thousands of visitors to the charming town of Henley on Thames every year. The regatta features thrilling races and creates a quintessential English experience with well-dressed and well-behaved attendees. It's advisable to plan your trip well in advance due to the high demand for accommodations during this time. The event also offers delightful fireworks, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Amazing. This year I was lucky enough to be in a celebratory 8+ row past for my clubs 150th anniversary. Fantastic experience for a mere Masters Club. Will continue to attend as a spectator in future.

A world class experience. A truly exceptional event. Where the best rowing in the world meets a classy social event managed to perfection by a team of people who know how to respect tradition at the same time as be progressive in many areas.

What a lovely experience. Well organised and great atmosphere. If only the weather played along 😊
Kalpana B — Google review
Amazing week in Henley. Very excited to see the Kings Trophy being contested for and for the extra 2 nations invited to compete (Germany and the Netherlands). The weeks rowing was fiercely competitive whilst the food, drink and ambience set by the Regatta was amazing. If you get the chance to visit this once in a lifetime experience, don’t miss the chance!
Paul K — Google review
Pretty amazing experience getting to see some great competition amongst some of the world's best rowers.

Walked down course in public area. Great views of races. Found bench to sit on. Plenty of good good and drink stalls. Main complaint - private hospitality lounges with loud drunk patrons having a party but not at all interested in the rowing. Very distracting. Organisers have allowed event to become much too commercialised.

Just got back from a fantastic daily trip with Hobbs of Henley Ltd, and I can't recommend it enough! The boats are well-maintained and comfortable, making for a smooth and enjoyable ride along the Thames. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, sharing interesting facts about the river and the surrounding area. It was the perfect way to relax and unwind, and I especially loved the option to customize the trip with different routes and stops. £14 for one hour ride, observing stunning views . Certainly worth it. Grab champagne, sit back and enjoy.

We had the best day on Lillibet for my husband's birthday. Family and close friends joined for a picnic in the sunshine on the back of this gorgeous boat skippered by Dizzy who was brilliant, navigating locks and letting us know some local info. on the river. I loved every minute. The service was excellent from booking through to the very end. I will definitely go again.
Helen W — Google review
Used this service at Rewind south last night to Henley. We waited over 40 minutes which is fair enough as there were a lot of people wishing to use the service. However 2 people arrived and did not queue and were let on the boat by the security staff and whole crowd over 200 people were extremely upset at these queue jumpers and they said to anyone voiced an opinion that if they did not shut up they would not be allowed on the boat as the 2 people were family. Totally unacceptable customer service or lack of it. Even the disabled and elderly were waiting in the queue, the staff showed no respect or consideration to their paying customers.
Andrea C — Google review
We hired Lilibet for my 60th and took 12 (Inc us) of our close friends and family for a 4 hrs trip from Henley. We were blessed with the hottest day of the year so far. The staff were amazing in arranging the trip and on board made the perfect occasion. The boat is truly wonderful and can't recommend enough.

Nestled within the River & Rowing Museum, The Chocolate Cafe is a delightful surprise for brunch enthusiasts. While its name might suggest indulgent sweets, it boasts an impressive savory menu that includes everything from a classic full English breakfast to delicious breakfast burgers and trendy smashed avocado on toast. The cafe features a light and airy atmosphere with ample outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying sunny days. Guests rave about the well-prepared dishes like fluffy pancakes drizzled in maple syrup and hearty meals served hot.
Light and airy design with a huge outside deck which is great in good weather. Seven of us lunched here in July 2016 and thought the service was excellent, the menu interesting, the food well prepared and presented and the atmosphere relaxed and pleasant. Genuinely couldn't fault the experience and the free parking outside for visitors to the museum and cafe is an added bonus!
Andrew C — Google review
On Friday 23rd March 2018, whilst walking the Thames River towpath I noticed an advertisement for the River & Rowing Museum Cafe, my partner and I decided to stop there for lunch. Ordering a sandwich with a pancake sweet to follow...was an utter catastrophe! The sandwich was minute and tasteless with the blueberry pancakes inedible. We had to sit patiently and waiting over 20 minutes for the sweet to arrive - this following our prompting the staff. When it eventually arrived, again, disappointment! Negotiating a pancake should be easy enough with a fork alone, but, even with a knife I could not cut the into the hardened mix. How on earth a professional kitchen could place this luncheon in front of a paying patron is beyond me. A lunch ruined by a kitchen that did not care.
Peter B — Google review
We snack eat and drink tea here regularly and are never disappointed. Ham & cheese panini good & melted, salad fresh, crisps crunchy plus fruit scone, clotted cream and jam all good. Tea piping hot and all for £24 for 2 rounds of everything. WNTL

Well its called the quince resturant but google only let me select terrace cafe. Lovely cakes the coffe was decent. Nice seating in and out but in the afternoon sun half of the tables were a little warm to sit at as not shaded but lets not moan about being to warm in the uk! Staff nice and polute but we got left standing at the counter and then told its table service when other people were serves at the counter. The wait for food and drink when half fill was quite a wait and the polite staff seemed rushed off their collective feet. Getting a bill and then paying for it was an effort.
Andy G — Google review
Excellent brunch, fluffy pancakes, bathed in maple syrup and piping hot full English breakfasts. Lovely outdoor terrace and special hot chocolate.
Jenny C — Google review
I love the Chocolate Cafe in Henley but this new place they have opened is utter disgrace. Literally waited an hour for a ham sandwich and a jacket potato, which arrived cold. Not going again.

Festival
Immerse yourself in the nostalgia of British boating at the Trad Traditional Boat Festival, a beloved event celebrating traditional craftsmanship and evoking the glory days of boating. This well-organized festival features extraordinary classic boats and offers something for everyone, from live music to various attractions. Despite any weather challenges, friendly stallholders and welcoming staff ensure a delightful experience for all attendees.
Amazing place to come and enjoy in the summer with friends and have some drinks and good food. Get ready to see some amazing historical boats. There will be historical music and some people dress with retro clothes as well. All the flowers and ornaments are cute too.
Tudor — Google review
Hands down the best event I have ever attended. The weather was great, the bands amazing, the boats extraordinary and the people unique. This is by far the best organised event. If you like classic boats, powered and uncovered this is where you need to be. It is run by a group of volunteers and Lady McAlpine and the pathos is so evident it's unreal. Please allow some time as due to the numbers there tends to be queues. Other than that, wear your boater hat and deck shoes and enjoy the show.
Aeolus M — Google review
Absolutely loved going to this boat show. Beautiful boats, beautiful scenery and beautiful river. Lots of stalls to browse and great food choices too.
Suzanne B — Google review
What a delightful event! Despite extreme weather everyone without exception was so friendly and helpful- every stallholder was welcoming, offering shelter from the rain. The girls at the Alaska steam boat were particularly lovely as well as the super team running the horse and cart trips. What could have been a wash out was a great day for our young grandchildren - and we had a ball at The Crooked Billet bash in the evening - fantastic music and food. Thank you to all concerned during both the day and evening. Wonderful!
Annie C — Google review
This used to be a really fun event to go to - lots to see, great food, beautiful boats and classic cars. This year I was told by a snotty young ginger girl in sunglasses that I’d have to pay twenty quid each (there were two of us) to get it. Her attitude was almost as off-putting as the entry fee, so we turned round and left. Such a shame, it used to be fun to go to.
Paul H — Google review
A really great festival with so many different things to interest everyone, from historic boats to a Spitfire flypast, amphibious vehicles and penny-farthing cycles, and so much more.

If you have come across this blog, chances are you are familiar with the Henley Royal Regatta, an annual event that draws a large crowd to this small town. The festival is well-known for its lively atmosphere and impressive sound quality on the main stage. Booking your trip well in advance is crucial due to high demand. Attendees often bring chairs and picnics to save costs on food and drinks at the venue.
Had a brilliant time at Henley festival would highly recommend for anyone considering it. Great atmosphere and the sound quality on the main stage was great. Food and drink costs can add up, so a lot of people take chairs and a picnic to have beforehand when you park in the carpark which we did, and I'd recommend. Also as a general tip for the ladies, the dress code is black tie but you are on a field so stilletos best avoided.

I've been bought a ticket for this so called music festival, and in 2025 I can not believe that a music festival has a ridiculous black tie dress code. This must be the most non-inclusive festival I've ever been given a ticket for and I've been to many up and down the U.K. Music is for everyone, not the entitled minority and shame on the bands/artists playing this event which needs to be shut down a.s.a.p.
Ian M — Google review
Great festival and brilliant acts. Grandstand very close to stage so everyone gets a really good view.
Paul W — Google review
WOW!!! What an event, it was my first time at the festival and it exceeded all my expectations. The precision organisation, well laid out facilities and entertainment is second to none. Parking was a bit steep at £25 but conveniently located and zero hassle getting in and out of the venue. This is staying on my calender for next year and we will not miss it. I Can highly recommend it, the artists are chosen carefully and you get a more intimate experience than traditional concerts, you actually see and hear them up close. I saw Craig David on the Thursday, who never failed to deliver a night to remember on the floating stage. The art exhibitions, the random entertainment, the bars, food, funfair and amazing fireworks and so much more... just amazing!
The G — Google review
The traffic management during this year’s festival (2025) left much to be desired. On Remenham Lane this Sunday—a public road—vehicles exiting from the Festival’s private car parks were clearly given preferential treatment, while the adjacent queue from the Henley Masters Regatta was left to sit motionless for an extended period. There was no fair rotation system (such as alternating cars from each direction), and traffic from the Masters side was only allowed through after multiple complaints and widespread frustration. Worse still, the junction with White Hill Road was left unstaffed, which allowed a car to bypass the entire queue in the opposite direction. A steward was only posted there after this occurred, suggesting reactive rather than proactive planning. The company responsible for the traffic mismanagement on Remenham Lane during the Henley Festival appears to be DC Site Services, a contractor frequently employed for large-scale event support across the UK. While they are typically tasked with waste management, stewarding, and traffic control, their conduct on this occasion raises significant concerns. Their stewards were observed favouring Henley Festival car park traffic at the expense of fair access for Henley Masters Regatta attendees, despite operating on a public highway where such prioritisation may lack legal basis. The absence of staff at key junctions, the reactive deployment of stewards after a queue breach, and the lack of a transparent, rotating release system all point to poor planning and questionable authority. If DC Site Services was acting under a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) or police instruction, such permissions should be made public; otherwise, their actions may constitute a breach of traffic and highways law, and suggest they were not equipped to manage dual events of this scale fairly.

Temptation Gifts is a delightful shop in Henley that offers an amazing selection of gifts and cards. Customers have praised the helpful staff who went above and beyond to assist them, even when they didn't purchase the items from the store. The shop is known for its wonderful stock, including sweet candles, bath bombs, and melts. Visitors have found great presents and delights here, making it their go-to place for purchasing gifts in Henley.
Lovely shop full of wonderful gift ideas and cards. I visited yesterday to purchase a birthday gift for a friend, and I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. One of the girls also gift wrapped the item with ribbons and tissue paper, free of charge. It looked beautiful and really elevated the gift! I will definitely visit again. Thank you.

The staff in the store were very friendly and super helpful, I'd even say they deserve 5 star for their service. Especially Karen at the store who went above and beyond to meet my needs. Overall, I had a great time shopping at this store.

Just because a customer buying 2 Xmas cards only, it doesn't mean that the shopkeeper can serve an other customer with more items earlier! Or write a note at the till: 'we SERVE people with MORE MONEY SPENT at us FIRSTLY' and I would turn away at the moment. I always thought I should be served firstly if arrived earlier to the cashier...... hello Henley, there are a lot of gift shops here! Do NOT go to this one!!! NO temptation at TEMPTATION!!
Agnes G — Google review
First time visiting the shop even though I walked past it few times. The shop is really nice to buy some gifts. So many options and prices are reasonable. I bought a plush for a friend of mine and was pleased with my experience.

Great stock, pleasant gift shop Staff very helpful
Coralie P — Google review
Awful experience in this shop. I took 3 foil balloons to be filled with helium costing £4 per balloon! After an hour one balloon was going down. Rather then offering to top this up the staff decided to make the point it was paperchases faulty balloon (no sign of this whatsoever) Paperchase kindly replaced my balloon however Temptation wanted me to pay again. In a situation whereby either shop could have been at fault charging me once again to me was unjustified and poor service. Never have I come across someone so patronising in a shop in Henley. For the sake of adding helium to a balloon they have now lost my regular custom.
Sarah H — Google review
Amazingly helpful - totally went above and beyond! I had bought some helium balloons elsewhere and went into Temptation to have them filled. The balloons were rubbish (NOTE: don't buy helium balloons on the internet) and didn't float but the manager was so helpful and cobbled them together for me and made it work. So kind as I didn't even buy the balloons there and she saved the day. I will only buy cards/gifts in Henley from this shop in the future!

The Angel on the Bridge is a charming pub located in the heart of Henley, offering a classic British dining experience. The pub features wooden floors, white walls, and beams, creating a cosy atmosphere. Its riverside terrace provides stunning views of the River Thames and is perfect for capturing memorable photographs. Nearby attractions include the renowned Leander Rowing Club and Temple Island, where visitors can enjoy peaceful walks and observe local wildlife such as kingfishers and wading birds.
Depending on where you enter… this lovely 2nd floor or ground floor traditional British Pub that overlooks a picturesque part of the River Thames, and it offers amazing service, polite and friendly, accommodating and warming… food was exceptionally well made and tasted fantastic! Very British gastropub style food! The sticky toffee pudding was the highlight for sure, as well as the exceptional view outside!
C L — Google review
Lovely pub on the river, great seating outside worth the price. Had pork scratchings which were great and Sunday roast - beef. Only 2 slices of meat so could have been a bit more there. Potatoes weren’t crispy on the outside, rest of the veg was pretty good. Still highly recommend for the setting
Scott B — Google review
Location, Location, Location. Sitting on river under the bridge this is a must stop for drinks for any visitor in Henley. We stop there every time we get into Henley as the views of the bridge and river are brilliant. On good weather weekend it will be packed on the terrace with happy drinkers (and many dogs). The service is quite efficient and trying hard to keep with flood of orders. Food is OK but considering price/quality ratio we mostly drink here. We will come back as it's an amazing location.
Sam A — Google review
Whilst sitting on the outside tables gives a spectacular view of the river, the Sunday roast was lacking. The serving of meat was slightly disappointing as it was two very thinly cut slices of beef. There is SO MUCH veg (probably too much) the potatoes were sadly not crispy and slightly dry, the carrots were great. Yorkshire pudding was also soft and not warm when served. Staff are friendly and in the winter, sitting inside by the fireplace with a drink is wonderful.
Bianca P — Google review
A classic pub nothing too fancy but it always hits the spot. The fish and chips. Boy oh boy! They hit every single taste bud standing in my mouth. So crispy the fish so fresh and the fries. Blew me out of the water I mean mouth watering juicy salty fries were just so yummmm also apparently the beer was very good but I did not try because I’m not the legal age too! Overall had a great time at the local pub definitely going to be a staple for next time I come here!

I visited Bistro du Vin Henley-on-Thames for an outdoor lunch but was not impressed with the service initially. However, once I requested menus, the experience improved. The courtyard was charming and the food tasted delicious, especially the duck and chicken with mashed potatoes. I discovered a special offer with the Henley Experience Card which was easily applied by the new Operations Manager.
We walked around the city on Friday afternoon, went to Bistro for lunch, the food was delicious, but the service was terrible, the tables were dirty. I probably won't go there again. But I really liked the city

Lol …went yesterday the one star for atmosphere was because we were the only couple in the restaurant. Monday lunchtime at 1.30pm probably not the best time. However the lady serving us made up for the lack atmosphere, she was brilliant. The food and service were outstanding and the added birthday 🎂 gesture given to my wife for dessert was lovely. We’ll be back…

Popped in for an al fresco lunch. First off we have never had fantastic service here. We sat outside and I got up to go inside and ask for some menu’s which is why one star less. However, once that was sorted we had a great experience. Lovely courtyard and delicious food. I had the duck, the OH had chicken with a side of mash. Suddenly realised we have an offer with the Henley Experience Card and the new Ops Mgr applied it with no problem. We had a bottle of house wine which was very quaffable and followed with the cherry, chocolate mousse and lemon tart. All together a thoroughly yummy lunch.

Booked for Sunday lunch at 12. Turned up few minutes early and very surprised at the lack of welcome. Instead I was told I didn’t have a booking, they were not ready and go and wait in the bar. We did but there was no one to serve us so we just sat there with no menus. When we did get seated the food was good but then every 5 mins they kept interrupting our conversation to ask if everything was ok. It’s a beautiful room and could be so much more, but disappointed and will not be returning.

The Argyll, located at 15 Market Place in Henley-on-Thames, is a newly refurbished ale and cider house that offers a relaxed atmosphere and delicious pub grub. The interior has a classic feel while the outdoor space features a 120-seater garden with an outside bar and Burger Shack. Beer enthusiasts will be delighted by the wide selection of craft beers available, with 20 keg lines and 10 cask lines on offer.
Lovely atmosphere, lively and chatty. Warm welcome from staff. Beer cold and crisp. The Big Argyll Burger was amazing! Recommend!

The only thing I could recommend in this place is the choice of music. They serve canteen food that looks pathetic and tastes like it’s been cooked and laid around for a while (burger patty not fresh). Atrocious customer service, male manager intentionally showing us his attitude, he made a scene out of 4 pieces of tortillas, quite unnecessary really, understood you guys were enjoying a lazy evening until we turned up to an empty pub, but you were open so it’s not our fault.

Fantastic beer selection 🍻 Shall we go outside said someone 😁 Amazing beer garden that goes on forever. Who knew? Booths and tables a plenty. Great atmosphere Morris dancers came in for a drink and played music. Great fun and really enjoyed this pub. Recommended 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Wonder what the foods like? Very friendly bar staff😁

Is there such a thing as ‘prison chic’? If there is and it’s your thing, head to The Argyll. I forked out nearly £20 for frozen processed fish, frozen powdery chunky chips, a tablespoon of (I assume frozen) mushy peas and the same of tartar sauce, both served in what must be super speed biodegradable paper cups. I can only think the salt must have been top notch because the food wasn’t worth a fiver. If prison chic is not a thing, my apologies to all prisons. I’ve never been in one but the food in them must be better than this. I mean, they’re quite popular places. Unlike here on a Tuesday. Of course, I have to acknowledge the staff. If only for their comedic efforts to pull a Guinness. I reckon of the £6.90 I paid for a pint, over £1.20 of it was for the bishop’s collar head. No wonder the on trade is dying a death. People will not put up with such mediocrity. I won’t.

Its a great find in Henley. Its buzzy and friendly. Reasonably priced food that is decent with a good menu. Have the Sunday roast for 2!. Book a pod and sit outside. Good for watching sports as each one has a TV. It has personality which is not always easy to find these days.

Probably the worst experience I've had in recent time in a publ or restaurant. I was recommended from a friend who I had visited in this villag. Looking forward to trying a local pub with local food I walked in, however I was thrown back by the extremely loud tacky commercial aggressive pop music being played throwing me outside my zen energy, (the pub was almost empty as it was afternoon on a weekday), I attempted to try and communicate with the bar staff however was totally ignored like a ghost. As I returned with my friend I was again ignored by the bar staff again. My friend was attempting to order what seemed like extremely overpriced food with the QR code in an empty pub. I thought let me go to the bar and order it in person. I also wanted to ask where the chicken or meat was sourced. A young man came out tired and disinterested, basically saying the chicken is bought wholesale from a wholesale chain and they have no idea where the chicken is from. Then a young blonde lady came out and was incredibly rude and hostile just saying what are you doing here why is your car parked outside. We had parked our car temporarily and then parked it back in the main car park. I couldn't believe how bad the service was I couldn't believe how overpriced the food was and how awful the music was. The only thing I can say is that this is a blessing in disguise because we opted to go to a persian restaurant next door which served some pretty great food at a high standard at about the same price as this tacky pub. The blonde woman was exceptionally hostile for no apparent reason I almost felt like I was being persecuted entering the place. Worst experience ever.

With entertainment running from 9pm to 1am, it's set to be an unforgettable evening filled with glamour and high-stakes fun.
It was a delightful experience! Despite not having a booking, we were warmly welcomed and seated in their lovely garden, which had a charming and relaxed atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive. The menu offers a great variety, from starters to mains, including pizza, grill options, and desserts. We opted for burgers and beer, and they did not disappoint—everything was delicious. Hart Street Tavern is a fantastic spot for a leisurely lunch, whether you're looking for a casual bite or something more substantial. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!

Lovely spot with a warm fireplace and welcoming staff, which made for a cosy atmosphere. We ordered the 'nduja sausage pizza, a bottle of wine, and a gin cocktail. Shockingly bad experience! Would not recommend. Slow service and bad food - service was so slow and although most mains were preordered they arrived 90’ after our arrival - we had small children who were waiting to eat as well and were becoming restless and they didn’t even bring a few simple kids meals sooner - member of staff was rude when i asked were our mains were after an hour - food was unacceptable, my roast could have been made from leftovers or was sitting in the kitchen for too long, it was cold, flavourless, haphazardly put together. Didn’t eat it. Burgers were mediocre. Lobster Alfredo was completely inedible . The only decent dishes were the brill and the steak Ruined a family celebration for us Will NEVER visit again

We came here on a very dull and rainy afternoon for lunch and it was still rather busy, so assume it is a locals favourite. Service was with a friendly smile and was swift and efficient. Some excellent choices of drinks as well as food, something for everyone, the half hungry or starving! Decent non alcoholic drinks / beers for the drivers of this world which was nice! Opted for the fresh plaice and deer steak both succulent and perfectly cooked and proportions were perfect. Prices on par with others in the area, all very clean and spacious, there are a lot of decent eateries in Henley but this one is in definitely in the top half.

Nice looking restaurant in Henley. Could be excellent with a few basic improvements. Table was sticky when we sat down, asked staff to clean it which was done quickly. Roast beef Sunday roasts arrived quickly. Good meat and veg, but the gravy was like water, and had already been poured over everything rather than being served separate which is the norm nowadays. I noticed at the entrance the piano looks like it needs a good clean. Generally a nice place, but has room for improvement.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Wonderful Breakfast Experience at Bijan’s Kitchen, Henley-on-Thames! We had a truly lovely breakfast at Bijan’s Kitchen on Saturday. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, perfectly matching the charm of beautiful Henley-on-Thames. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented — you can really taste the care that goes into every dish. A special mention goes to the Persian-style brewed tea, which was simply exceptional — fragrant, perfectly balanced, and served just the way it should be. It was the perfect complement to a relaxed and enjoyable morning. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. We left feeling happy and satisfied, and we’ll definitely be coming back again soon. Highly recommended! 🌸

I had an amazing meal at Bijan’s Restaurant in Henley-on-Thames. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The kebab was tender and perfectly seasoned, served with fragrant saffron rice and a deliciously charred tomato. The sautéed vegetables on the side were full of color and taste. I also tried the yogurt and cucumber dip (mast-o-khiar) — creamy, refreshing, and the perfect complement to the main dish. Everything tasted authentic and made with care. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere cozy yet elegant. Definitely one of the best Persian meals I’ve had in the UK — I’ll be coming back soon!

Also, you could tell the place was well loved by the regulars that came in and spoke so highly of it to the owner. A trendy little place with a rustic interior which isn't overly pretentious. Friendly and passionate staff serve quality tea and coffee with a selection of homemade cakes. Good WiFi and plenty of light makes a good office away from home. Situated on the second floor, it feels removed from the bustle of the town whilst being located right in the center. The place was clean and well kept, especially the toilet facilities. Will definitely come back here.

It is very very nice coffee that is served here. Do not get me wrong, the food is tasty as well, it is vegan or vegetarian I think (I am not strong here) but the coffee is one of the best. The decor is interesting and the atmosphere relaxed, although people here are working hard to provide excellent service. I need to try more dishes when I visit again, which I will do, because it is good value for money, a nice coffee shop, with big windows, allowing plenty of light in, overlooking a busy road.

Today while I was walking around Henley, I saw an ad for this vibrant-looking drink on a shop window and decided to give it a try. The staff were incredibly friendly, especially the lady who prepared my order with such care. Despite the heat outside, the shop was perfectly cool inside – I honestly didn’t feel like leaving. Quick stop for takeaway cuppa coffee as need to catch a train. Long wait for nothing to place my order because staff was hanging here and there. After couple of minutes, finally they notice there is someone called customer 😅 While waiting for coffee, noticed place wasn’t clean and that thing putting atmosphere down when people were not feeling comfortable. Though nice place but need update to run good business. Hope in future i’ll see a change when around again.

Better Coffee - NEEDED! Our stop here was disappointing. - very slow with indifferent staff, - people hanging around the counter waiting for their drinks, - flavourless coffee and chocolate, - more expensive than the other coffee shops! We returned the chocolate to the counter as it tasted like milk, there was no apology but a question 'would you like me remake it'? Well, obviously - except he didn't and we had to go back and ask again. The seating area was decoratively fine, and the milk was nice and velvety but not enough to warrant 3 stars. Avoid, and go to one of the other shops in town.

Nicest atmosphere and comfy sofas make it my goto Henley coffee shop. Somewhat let down by the pretty average coffee. Often look like the table need a wipe and the floor a sweep. Sofas definitely showing signs of wear.

I can only assume it’s improved from the previous poor reviews, but I thought the place was nice. Nice atmosphere with rustic floors and tables, interesting layout with a good amount of seating. Great location for people/car watching from the large windows. I had the Brazilian Minas Gerais filter coffee which was lovely, and even came in a nice carafe and tasting note card. ≈£5 Staff seemed pleasant and were decently speedy even when busy. Worth a go, shame about the previous reviews but I had no issues here.

I last visited this chain about a year ago and thought I’d give it another try — I wish I hadn’t. The seasonal drink I ordered was genuinely awful; I couldn’t even finish it. Finding a seat was nearly impossible because the upstairs area was inexplicably closed, likely due to being understaffed as usual. When I finally did find a spot, the seat was dirty and stained, and every table around me was covered in empty cups, plates, and food debris. The staff stood behind the counter chatting instead of clearing tables or maintaining any level of cleanliness. It’s a real shame — this is one of the best locations in town, yet it’s completely wasted on a poorly run, low-quality coffee shop. For a brand owned by Tesco, the lack of care, cleanliness, and quality is disappointing but sadly unsurprising. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

The Kenton Theatre is a charming Regency theatre that hosts a variety of performances including dance, drama, and comedy by touring companies, amateurs, and children. Despite its age, the theater offers excellent visibility and sound system for an enjoyable experience. The intimate setting may have limited seating space but the friendly staff adds to the pleasure of visiting.
Very nice, cosy theatre with very friendly and helpful staff. Good location and plenty of parking available nearby. Comfortable seats and good sound/acoustics - we enjoyed the 1971 Rock Show there and would definitely come back.

Great little theatre on our doorstep. Seen few shows here, mainly musicals. Just the right size and good views from just about everywhere. Smaller theatres normally get smaller act but every now and then along comes a star. Yesterday it was Paul Youngs turn. A real cheeky chappie who came on stage with Spandau Ballets saxophonist Steve Norman. A winning combination. They told some really funny stories and sang a few songs. Unfortunately the voices are no longer there. A shame but still a great show. Comfy seats, good prices and a nice little bar so what’s not to like. Recommended 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🎹🎶🎤🎸

I loved every minute of this fantastic performance. Avenue Q was amazing from start to finish . A funny , exhilarating , exciting performance. This was my first time at this theatre but it will not be my last . I would recommend this theatre to everyone because you will have the time of your life. Thank you to all the actors and all the staff for a wonderful evening.

Hubby booked the Dolly Parton country and western show for me and it was fabulous. Leg room in some of the seats were a problem for my hubby due to knee replacements so would suggest an aisle seat or those with no one in front of you. Disabled parking right outside . Friendly and helpful staff and it was a fab event
Janet S — Google review
Lovely theatre, welcoming staff, fairly comfortable seat with sufficient leg room for our medium stature. We sat in row G, towards the middle, it’s a small theatre so anywhere along the row affords a good view. I would have benefited a better view if the seating was tiered a little more as I was struggling to see around the head of the person in front of me; after the interval we moved closer to the aisle where nobody was directly in front. Fair choice of drink and ice cream in the interval. Free parking near by.

Lovely venue and a good variety of entertaining acts and performances. Photos show A Christmas Carol 'radio play' featuring Peter Purves, Colin Baker and, by prerecorded video, Tom Baker. A brilliant performance.

Vineyard
Nestled in the picturesque Henley-on-Thames, Fairmile Vineyard is a delightful destination that celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. With plans to unveil a limited-edition Founders Reserve 2015 from their inaugural harvest, there's much excitement brewing. Visitors can expect an unforgettable experience, even on rainy days! A private tour for six revealed the vineyard's stunning beauty, with perfectly aligned rows of grapevines creating a breathtaking backdrop.
Lovely boutique winery. Tours with tasting available - they are conducted by the owner himself. He shared lots of interesting facts about production, grape growing, wines. Visited with a group for a friend’s birthday celebration, had a picnic with wines there
Vladislav S — Google review
Very slow to leave a review as I came here nearly two years ago on my hen do. It was such lovely experience with the owner who made a great fuss of us girls. The wine was lovely but it was the small bohemian feel that made it such a wonderful English vineyard to visit. The reason I'm leaving a review now is because I was looking it up to visit again this summer and bring my parents, they would love it.
Rachel G — Google review
Absolutely stunning vineyard and they're so hospitable. We didn't book a tour but we were able to buy a chilled bottle and take it to the top of the vineyard for a picnic. Unbelievably beautiful views
Alexa J — Google review
Lovely day spent with a picnic and bottle of fizz. Jan and Anthea were so accommodating! Can’t wait till our next visit
Megan H — Google review
Honestly a fantastic day out despite the rain. We booked a private tour for 6 people and were all blown away by the vineyard. Jan was brilliant, extremely knowledgeable and answered any and all questions we asked him. The man knows his stuff! The vineyard itself is beautiful, rows and rows of symmetrical grape vines make for an impressive view. The vine tasting towards the end is a nice way to finish the tour and the vine is superb. You can tell why this place is doing so well. The vineyard is easy to find, a few minutes past Henley and has plenty of parking on-site. Highly recommended for everyone.

Antique store
Tudor House Antiques, situated on Duke Street in Henley-on-Thames, is a treasure trove for those seeking unique finds. Housed in a beautifully historic building, the shop is filled with an extensive array of antiques, old items, and reproductions. Despite its small and charming shop front, the interior extends into a spacious area that even includes a backyard filled with goods.
This place is a hidden treasure in Henley and I highly recommend visiting it! Tudor House is like a time capsule – the moment you walk in, you’re surrounded by antiques, collectibles, and all sorts of fascinating items. It’s spread across multiple levels, and you can literally find anything here – from screws and bolts to vintage paintings, clothes, and rare curiosities. Even if you don’t plan on buying anything, it’s absolutely worth a visit just for the experience. Every corner has something unexpected to offer. A must-see for anyone exploring Henley!
Reza R — Google review
Just passing by when this awesomely great building caught my eyes. Pop in to grab some nice craft for my house but couldn’t get any. Btw just the building is worth to have a look
Win T — Google review
Nice enough shop, but as I was walking around holding the items I intended to purchase, the shop owner remarked that one item had already been sold. This had been displayed on the shelf, not anywhere one would think it was reserved. I got the sense the owner simply didn't want to sell the item to me for some reason, so I did leave without making a purchase.
Erin E — Google review
An excellent place for antiques, old and reproduction items with great variety. The shop front may be small but appealing but the area inside extends to a great length full of goods right into the back yard. A must to visit when you are in Henley!
Mas H — Google review
Fully agree with one of the previous reviewers. I commented on the passive aggressive, or rather, just plain aggressive sign on the door to the sales person. I said I found it off putting and aggressive. She said most people find it hilarious. If they do then it's because it is so crass. She also said perhaps I am the problem. Rude? I'd say so. I won't go back, but no worries. The shop is badly cluttered with nothing of quality.
Chris O — Google review
Lovely place, not as small as it looks. Cash payment only!!! Got discount and had a nice chat with the seller.
Marta W — Google review
Very rude salesperson. Went to this little shop last week and, upon entering and saying hello to the cashier, something in my foreign accent made the store assistant ask me to leave my backpack. I told her its fine, I've been here before, i never knocked anything over. She still insisted i leave it at the front as she said she was worried about me turning around the shop with it. I again assured her I’ve been here hundreds of times with this particular backpack, never had an issue. As i walked away, she remarked prices are non negotiable. Further down the shop two ladies came up to me and said they thought it was very rude the way the shop assistant spoke to me- THEY were not asked to leave their handbags, nor were they told that prices are non negotiable. I’ve visited this shop many times, bought many items. I know the shop is overpriced, but I always strive to support local. I will be heading to the other lovely antique shops in Henley from now on, the last visit to this place left a sour taste in my mouth.

Mill Meadows is a picturesque destination offering a variety of activities for visitors. From boat rentals and the River and Rowing museum to the charming Kenton Theatre, there's something for everyone. Families can enjoy picnics on the spacious grounds or explore the playgrounds at Freemans Meadows. Early morning visits offer a different experience with ample parking options and scenic walks along the river. Cruising on the river provides a relaxing experience with beautiful views of houses and boats along the locks.
Really enjoyed my visit to Mill Meadows in Henley. It’s such a peaceful spot by the river with beautiful views and lots of space to relax. I had a nice walk along the Thames and it was lovely watching the boats go by. There’s also a children’s play area and plenty of room for picnics. Just a short walk from the town centre, so very convenient. Huge car park and option to pay online. A great place to unwind.

What a wonderful area for young and old to wander around. Safe playing area for kids, ample greens to relax with friends and children to play. Walking down the river is so refreshing, watching the boats, birds and nature. Refreshments within walking distance and you have to taste the ice cream. The train stop near the meadow, there is also a car park. The beautiful Henley town centre is within reach and you will not feel tired after this excursion.
Christie C — Google review
Had a lovely day on the river cruising up and down relaxing to the sound of the boat chugging along on the water with the birds quacking and tweeting away. Some pretty big houses and some lovely little boats spotted on the way along the locks. Can't fault the boat company and their service was fantastic. A lovely way to spend a few hours of relaxation.
Kizzy A — Google review
Moored up for a few nights here. Lovely area, Henley a very short walk through the park. The guy operating the kiddies rides has a great taste in music.
Lee W — Google review
If you can rise early and get down here before 7 in the morning it's a different experience. You don't have to pay for the car park until 9 o'clock and you'll have a choice of where to park. Walking in either direction is rewarding. Walk towards the bridge to stay close to the town or head the other direction towards Shiplake away from the heart of Henley. There are dog walkers, runners and the rowing club may have rowers out on the river. The boats moored overnight will have occupants rising and making breakfast. Swans make the most of the lack of river traffic. At 9 o'clock you choose whether to pay to continue your stay or move on. Its a shame to leave Henley without visiting the town. Later in the day this area gets very busy and on occasions it is difficult to find a parking space. I used to live near here and I have moored a boat here in the past but this review is based on a recent return visit. I was amazed how popular it was. All the facilities are here playgrounds, toilets, picnic areas, benches and easy walking. With or without dogs. There's s cafe on site and boat hire. Boat trips are plentiful. Every thing is kept to a reasonable standard.
Derek H — Google review
If your going by boat, be carefully. The moorings are sadly very badly maintained. I nearly lost our boat (not the one in the picture), as a mooring ring snapped off. Other parts of the concrete bank are falling apart, not just making it impossible to Moor, but dangerous for the many pedestrians that get too close to the bank. It's council run, so I guess it will take a fatality before they are forced to spend money on improvements. Apart from the river bank, the rest of the park is quite pleasant. See video and watch carefully for the mink.

Inside, you'll find an impressive collection of adorable bears and playful Maileg mice that are sure to bring joy to anyone who steps through the door.
A teddy bears' wonderland just too lovely! I and my bear enjoyed so much and my bear chose a pair of sunglasses for himself! My bear met lots of soft furry new friends. We love the motto there is ALWAYS room for ONE MORE bear. There are hand-made bear clothes but unfortunately I couldn’t find a suitable one for my bear this time. We must visit again!

A truly charming little shop! Asquiths Teddy Bear Shop is a must-visit – set in a beautiful old building with original features lovingly preserved, it feels like stepping into a storybook. The shelves are filled with teddy bears of all sizes, each one beautifully crafted with real character and care. You can tell these are high-quality pieces, and the prices reflect that. There are also some unique and interesting items around the shop that add to the magic. The lady at the counter was so friendly and welcoming. A perfect stop for collectors, gift hunters, or anyone who appreciates a bit of craftsmanship.

Absolutely wonderful customer support. My daughter bought a mouse from here on Saturday and promptly lost it! I contacted the shop as it was not available on their website, it was added to the site within minutes. When it arrived on Tuesday it was wearing a wooden tag with my daughters name on and came with a lovely note from the mouse saying that she had gone to find some cheese!

It’s completely unique and dog-friendly with the two most human-loving little shop dogs ever so bring all your four-legged friends along too! A perfect example of a brilliant independent local business… we’ll be back!

Do you have a soft spot for teddy bears and other cute soft toys? If so, or perhaps you are looking for that special gift for a loved one or to treat yourself to something very special, then you really should pay a visit to Asquiths in Henley on Thames! I am particularly interested in and collect all things Steiff, who are world renowned as being the ultimate quality manufacturers of teddy bears as well as a great many other soft animals, even including baby safe toys! But Asquiths offer far more buying options than just Steiff, there's something to suit most pockets. Having bought many Steiff bears over the years, I can also confirm that the prices at Asquiths are very competitive, I have found that so many people are still a little afraid of shopping in Henley on Thames, often worried that prices in general will be sky high, this is absolutely not the case, I would not buy anything at any cost, I'm no different than anyone else, always shopping around, looking for the best price possible. The owner of this delightful store is often working behind the till, she is, as you would imagine, very knowledgeable and extremely friendly too. You can find Asquiths in Hart Street, which is a very short walk from the dead centre of the town. I must also mention that this store is a little like Doctor Who's Tardis, it's far bigger inside than it might appear from the outside! I do hope you will visit Asquiths, such a wonderful, relaxing, smile inducing shop! Today I purchased a newly released Steiff Superman Bear, as a gift for my wife, she loves it!

Nestled in the heart of Henley-on-Thames, The Old Fire Station Gallery is a charmingly transformed fire station that serves as an inspiring venue for artists to showcase their diverse creations, including paintings, sculptures, tapestries, and photography. This airy space benefits from fabulous natural light during the day and offers excellent facilities for both artists and visitors alike. While it may require some pre-show preparation to attract foot traffic, its potential is undeniable.
Fabolous day time light (though spot lights cant be moved and some may need to be replaced with stronger led bulbs), great airy space, excellent facilities, easy reach. Need a lot of pre-show work and very little footfall. I had done my solo (Yuliya Martynova, Caversham based) in summer and it was really lovely. With good homework to warm up and direct your art collectors and visitors, this gallery has great potential. If you have good marketing team with you or strong following, its an absolute winner in Henley.

Ordered 3 times online this year to come to the shop and collect. Always the orders arrive much later than suggested on the email/order. My last order I needed to visit the shop 5 times ( with my toddler) to finally find the order in the shop. Ordered on 14th August. Picked up my last package from the order on the 11th September. Clothes are very good quality and great price sales. But it doesn’t justify the lack of logistics for this company. A few months ago I ordered 2 shirts for my friends birthday that didn’t arrive on time. So I needed to return the shirts when they ( finally) arrived. They said I will get a refund within 3-5 working days. Never got one, I needed to call them ( few weeks later) to ask for my money back. And I got it within minutes after calling. Again, clothes are great, prices are great when sales are on. But a lot of time wasted to get what I paid for online. Staff somehow helpful, but not the extra mile.

I have been in this shop a few times and I have to say that Cathy is the most amazing person ever. I cannot quite understand why she is not the shops manager, her knowledge is endless and her care for the customers shines through every time I go in this shop. Cathy I am in customer service and have been for 20 years and it is very hard to find someone with your level of customer loyalty and passion for what you do. Nothing is ever to much for the team. I will certainly be coming back to Henley as the experience I have had in your reading branch is shocking and would rather spend my money in Henley as they care. I was kindly treated to two nights at Chiltern Valley Winery and Brewery for my birthday. We stayed in the Pool House room, which is right by a pool, hot tub and sauna. These facilities are exclusively for the use of the pool House guests, so you can enjoy some privacy and don't get disturbed by other guests coming and going. The room is well appointed, with an ensuite bath/shower room, and views directly onto the vineyard catching the morning sun. Breakfast was included and done very well, with the option of a full English. The wine tour and tasting lasted about 2 hours, taking you on a tour of the vineyard and winery/brewery facilities, finished off with a tasting of some of their wines, beers and liqueurs. Very enjoyable indeed! They have a deal with a local pub for dinner, which includes a taxi ride there and back (about a 5-10 minute drive to Hambledon village). The menu was excellent and well worth it. We both cycle and enjoyed the excellent cycling in spectacular scenery. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the winery and hope to go back at some point. It's a bit more to stay in the Pool House compared with the main house rooms, but worth it if you enjoy the facilities it offers.

We did the tour and tasting followed by an overnight stay. All of the staff we met were lovely. The grounds and buildings were very well kept. Victoria was a great tour/tasting guide and certainly knew her stuff. We sampled various wines, beers and liqueurs, along with some cheese and crackers to cleanse the pallet between tastings. The farmhouse breakfast was great too!

I recently proposed to my girlfriend at this stunning venue, and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting or experience. From start to finish, everything was smooth, beautifully organized, and completely stress-free. Don, the venue owner, was an absolute pleasure to work with- professional, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about making special moments unforgettable. The coordination with our photographer and even the tour guide, Steve, was seamless. Everyone worked together behind the scenes to make the moment magical, and they absolutely delivered. Steve was fantastic, and his knowledge is amazing. The atmosphere was lovely, the setting was picture-perfect, and the entire team made sure everything went off without a hitch. Highly recommend this venue for any special occasion- it truly exceeded all expectations!

Just spent the afternoon at this venue with a tour being provided by one of the sommeliers. He was so knowledgeable about the history of the estate, the business and wine and beer making. He then led us expertly through a tasting of three wines, three beers and a liqueur. We then sat in the beautiful courtyard and enjoyed a glass of wine. Recommend a trip to this venue.

Nestled in a secluded Chilterns valley, National Trust - Greys Court is a historic 16th-century manor house with a rich history dating back over 9 centuries. The estate features a donkey-powered mill wheel, a 12th-century tower, and a grass maze. Visitors can explore the tranquil gardens and admire the stained-glass panels and elegant drawing room inside the mansion.
Always a fantastic day out. Very knowledgeable volunteers. Gorgeous gardens, even though a been drooping from the heat this time around. Places to picnic and walk. A great little book nook. One of our favourite venues.

I really loved this site. It was so tranquil on an early Saturday morning. The estate walks are beautiful. The walled garden is amazing - one of the best I've seen and I've seen a lot of them. The wisteria must look stunning when in bloom. House is very pretty and someone was playing the piano and it really made the visit even more pleasant.

A wonderful little place to spend the afternoon. The walk around the garden was lovely. Autumn blooms out in force. Not many people around so seemed peaceful. The house is compact but plenty to see and take in. Volunteers were very knowledgeable and friendly. Biscuits that were cooked in the kitchen as we passed through were delicious. Shop and tea room were accessible and had standard NT fayre. The second hand bookshop was small but plenty of choice. All staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back here. Highly recommended.
Gary J — Google review
The house and gardens were beautifully decorated and Christmassy, very friendly volunteers who were very happy to show us around. We ended in the coffee shop, we had some hot drinks, yummy brownies and pasties, the staff made us feel very welcome. All and all, we had a very relaxing few hours.

An interesting house and different to a number.of other houses we have been to. The rooms are more 20th century so an interesting insight into the family home and kitchen. The gardens were lovely, even though it is October but I will be back in Spring and summer when they will be at their best!
Ali R — Google review
A beautifully preserved National Trust property with a warm, lived-in feel. The interiors are charming and full of character — especially the kitchen and library. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. A peaceful spot for a slow afternoon, and the garden is lovely too. Highly recommended if you’re near Henley-on-Thames!

Wonderful house and Gardens. Rich history going back 1000 years, 1066 and the war. Lots of unusual plants and trees to see. Visit the green house and walled garden. There is a garden shop. Plenty of free car parking. Nice cafe with good selection of hot and cold food. Plenty of seating i door and outdoors.
Shailesh P — Google review
Very peaceful and relaxing property with beautiful and interesting gardens and well presented 1930s furnished house. Knowledgeable volunteers were on hand and a pianist playing in the drawing room. It would have been good if there had been a kids activity trail but a good members experience nonetheless.

Stonor Park is an 850-year-old manor house nestled within the Chiltern Hills, offering a rich display of portrait, bronze, and ceramic collections. The estate features a 17th Century Italianate Pleasure Garden and the scenic Ladies Walk adorned with nut trees, ornamental cherries, and primroses. Visitors can also explore the parkland and encounter a majestic herd of fallow deer.
What an amazing place. Well worth the money and travel time. The grounds are spectacular as are the views. The garden is wonderful and can imagine in summer would be enchanting. The vibe is intoxicating, you'll want to stay all day. The adventure playground is the best we've been to, the kids couldn't get enough. Will go again in summer and spend the whole day on the grounds.
Khalid A — Google review
It is a lovely house that gives you a great garden to look around and a decent walk around the grounds. The houses are only open at certain times and only 1 day a week which makes it quite inconvenient to visit. We didn't manage to look around the house but did visit the garden and the lands, it's beautiful but it would be nice to have more accessibility on the weekends.
Mitchell S — Google review
We enjoyed our visit to Stonor Park. We didn't buy a ticket to the house, but the gardens are nice. You do have to pay extra for the playground but it looked OK. However, BEWARE of the Pantry Cafe. It closes at 5 with last orders 4:30 and this isn't signed anywhere! We think they should put a sign in the visitor centre or outside the building. Overall, it's nice for a day out but things aren't very clear.
Patricia C — Google review
If it is your first time there, you might get confused/lost as the grounds were not well signposted (for Halloween) Parking is a bit of a chaos, very muddy with no grip. Playground for children is brilliant. Haĺloween trail was just OK. Stonor's grounds and gardens are absolutely mindblowing. You can also get drinks or food from the van on the playground or machine drinks at the shop. The lady dressed as a witch, at the entrance/cashier made the difference on the day we visited Stonor, a ray of sunshine on a gloomy day 🌤🎃🧙‍♀️🪄☕️👻
Anna — Google review
A lovely place for a trip out for all the family. The gardens are really lovely and really well maintained. There's lovely views and plenty of places to sit and relax. There's also a brilliant looking kids adventure playground which seemed to be very popular. Food options are slightly limited. In the reception area there are just snacks and hot drinks. In the playground area There's a place selling freshly cooked pizza which was delicious. Although if you are just visiting the gardens you don't necessarily have access to the play area Although thankfully we were allowed access to get our pizza.

Amazing place to go with kids. Unfortunately we went on a drizzly morning so the slides were wet, which caused my grandson to literally fly off the end and wind himself. No serious damage but unnerved him, which was a shame as we were having a great time until then. That said, the park is brilliant and the musical tree is a lovely touch.we would dinitly come again (but maybe stay off the slides if it's wet!)

Loved the Rolls Royce meeting. Not much else there. Tumblestone Hollow is no different to any local council park.

Yesterday our Probus group had a private tour of the house and gardens. This is, a real gem of a house beautifully preserved and quite quirky in places, what a fabulous fireplace! The house is also set in beautiful surroundings . What a privilege to live there. Peter, our guide, was very knowledgeable, never being unable to answer the many questions thrown at him by many of our members. His easy going manner made the tour so extra special. The cake was pretty good too, a nice finish to a rain free afternoon .

Warburg Nature Reserve, managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust, offers a delightful experience for nature enthusiasts. The reserve boasts 15 orchid species and features a visitor centre, bird hides, picnic area, and wildlife explorer packs. Visitors can enjoy a casual walk around the surrounding countryside or embark on a 13-mile circular ramble through the Chiltern Hills. The area's hilly terrain provides moderate exercise while offering picturesque woodland walks.
Beautiful countryside walk. Little car park and picnic area. Activity bag in the visitor centre for the little ones. Excellent few hours in nature
Graeme W — Google review
Lovely, well-maintained nature reserve. The paths and trails are well marked and it is a beautiful place for a serene and peaceful walk. Free parking (with a suggested donation payable by card) and a small visitors centre. There is also a picnic area by the car park which is lovely.
Steph S — Google review
Very nice place well hidden between the hills. A short but nice and quiet walk route. Free car park with limited spaces. Possiblity to donate wirelessly. Very cool visitors centre with loads of information. Check out my pictures.
Richard Z — Google review
Beautiful nature. We parked n walked from Nettlebed. Autumn vibes with woodlands scenery. Walked to the visitor’s centre n back. Theres bird hide boxes but plenty of wildlife outside (pheasants, birds, squirrels) and mushrooms identifications (illegal to pick)
Jamaliahmok — Google review
As someone who finds nature, forests and quiet paths therapeutic, this nature reserve was everything I could wish for! One of the few places in England where you feel yourself surrounded by the rich wildlife that a forest can offer. Definitely will go back in different seasons to see how it changes.
Iulian T — Google review
Lovely, quiet location for a family walk. I didn’t find the track leading to the parking area tricky as some have reported. There were some potholes but nothing major and it was reasonably easy to pass other cars. May be different after bad weather. We followed the 45 minute circular walk with a 4 year old and we enjoyed it! Parking required a £2 donation and the parking area is small, so no guarantee there will be spaces available.
Deidre K — Google review
I love Warburg, so hidden away but wonderful area to have a walk, visitor centre has some wonderful items to look at found in the reserve and the bird hide is wonderful! Perfect location with the pond and perfectly placed sticks ! Genius !

Nicely out of the way. Flora and fauna more diverse and healthier than many places. Tiny visitor centre - bring your own food & drink. The large map displayed next to car park isn't the easiest to interpret. Lovely walking available.

Nestled away from the hustle and bustle, St Botolph's Church in Swyncombe is a hidden gem that beckons visitors down a narrow country road. Though small, resembling more of a quaint chapel, it boasts unique features such as an intriguing suspended bell and beautifully decorated ceilings adorned with vibrant stained glass windows. The church also showcases a striking Byzantine-style altar and an impressive rood screen with balcony.
This church is beautiful and the snowdrops around the grounds are wonderful.
Lee B — Google review
This is some way off the beaten track, almost two miles, but it is worth the drive down the narrow country road. The church is small, almost more of a chapel, but it has some interesting and unusual fairs. It's berk is suspended and rung for outside on the same side as the porch entrance. Inside it has an interestingly decorated ceiling, a full rude screen with balcony and brightly coloured stained glass windows. It's alter is set in a byzantine style alter and an icon. The grave hard has some interesting stones as well as a war grave and if you visit during the snowdrop season, it is carpeted with them.
Ian W — Google review
One of the loveliest little churches I've ever been in. It was empty and quiet when I visited, as I walked the Ridgeway. If you're religious, a great place to sit in quiet contemplation. If you're not, also a great place to sit in quiet contemplation. They have an extensive history of the church inside, so do read up as it's quite interesting. There was also a small merch stand - I bought a St Botolphs bookmark. This is a great stop for Ridgeway Walkers, as there is tea and coffee making facilities in the entrance. There was also a box of biscuits and homemade flapjacks for sale - I bought one and ate it on the bench outside. Truly thoughtful. And delicious. My thanks to those who run this church.
Jack C — Google review
Beautiful little church, passed by both the Ridgeway and Chiltern Way walks, and well worth a visit.
Michael C — Google review
Charming country church in glorious countryside. We visited in late February to see the mass of snowdrops in the graveyard. But lovely to visit at anytime of year.
Mark P — Google review
We returned to St. Botolph’s Church, Swyncombe to see their wonderful display of snowdrops. They’re getting better and better. Clearly this annual event is gaining momentum as there’s now a one-way system for cars. A good idea especially as the exit takes you past a lovely house which would otherwise be invisible. If belongs to the owners of the drive and the surrounding land, then their generosity in facilitating this important fund-raising event is much appreciated. The tea with delicious-looking homemade cakes is from 2pm. Think it might be time for a couple of Portaloos!
Hamish P — Google review
Nestled in a valley on the Ridgeway is this unassuming church built in 11th century. Step inside and see the beautiful architecture. Explore for some signs of pagan beliefs hidden in plain sight

In 2018, Jack's Gallery was chosen to adorn the walls of the Cherry Tree Inn in Stoke Row with a selection of pictures. The gallery meticulously selected each frame to perfectly complement every unique artwork, resulting in a stunning collection of about 60 pieces. The framing work was executed with exceptional quality and great attention to detail. Jack and his team deserve much praise for their outstanding efforts in creating such fabulous displays.
We used Jack's Gallery when populating the walls of the Cherry Tree Inn in Stoke Row with pictures, in 2018. Jack helped me choose each individual frame, to match nicely with each unique picture. We had about 60 done in total, of which the framing was of the highest quality and so much thought and care went into each and every one of them. All looking rather fabulous. Thank you jack and co.

Absolutely 1st class service We were in Henley & stopped to look at the Jack Vettriano prints My wife fell in love with a signed copy we went away to think about it. Came back & Jack was so helpful & we were so happy to purchase at a reasonable price It is hanging on our wall now & we love it Only trouble is we need another one to match on the other side of our fireplace

I wanted a collection of precious family memories framed to my own specifications. Jack's gallery helped me lay out the design of the frame and where all the items would be best placed. I picked up my custom frame last Friday and Its now hanging proudly on my wall at home. Thank you very much Jack and co!

Came across Jack’s Gallery by chance on a visit to Henley yesterday. A few hours later I am proud owner of a gorgeous Vettriano - and thrilled with it. Jack could not have been more helpful, knowledgeable or friendly. And lovely to be able to browse in the shop which was relaxing - despite masks and social distancing!

This is the most wonderful gallery with the most beautiful artwork. But better than this the service is outstanding. Jack did everything to get our very large pictures reframed ahead of schedule for us. He was so kind and helpful. A brilliant shop and outstanding service.

We have visited Jack`s gallery several times in the last 12 months and bought three Vettriano prints and other items. Each time has been enjoyable as the owner is easy to talk to as well as being very knowledgeable. Look forward to visiting again when next in the area.

The Lemongrove Gallery provides a wonderful experience with their exceptional staff. They offer a wide range of artwork by talented artists such as Fabian Perez and Henderson Cizs, creating an impressive collection. The friendly and knowledgeable team at the gallery is highly recommended for their ability to make art accessible and affordable. It is regarded as the only gallery worth visiting due to its outstanding qualities.
So lovely to see a drawing I did of my niece as a baby in a beautiful frame made by them. The piece comes alive with choice of frame and the professional framing. Will be recommending their gallery for any drawing commissions I have in England.

Had an unscheduled visit with some students today. Chloe could not have been more welcoming. For some, it was their first ever visit to an art gallery, it won't be our last. Chloe was happy to chat to students and staff about the wide selection of art available, directing them to artworks that they may like based on the chats earlier. Thank you Chloe for making it such a positive experience.

Love visiting whenever in Henley. Always nice to chat to the staff who are pleased to talk to you about your preferences and opinions on the collection.

The experience at Lemongrove was a fantastic one, throughout all of this we dealt with a lovely lady, Suzanne. I first visited in February and found a piece that I couldn't stop thinking about, unfortunately when I came back it had sold. Suzanne offered to order it in for us and also arrange a home viewing to ensure that we were happy with the artwork prior to purchase. I could not recommend Suzanne or Lemongrove any more and will certainly be returning to purchase any further pieces.
