British restaurant
The Angel on the Bridge is a charming pub located in the heart of Henley, offering a classic British dining experience. The pub features wooden floors, white walls, and beams, creating a cosy atmosphere. Its riverside terrace provides stunning views of the River Thames and is perfect for capturing memorable photographs. Nearby attractions include the renowned Leander Rowing Club and Temple Island, where visitors can enjoy peaceful walks and observe local wildlife such as kingfishers and wading birds.
Depending on where you enter… this lovely 2nd floor or ground floor traditional British Pub that overlooks a picturesque part of the River Thames, and it offers amazing service, polite and friendly, accommodating and warming… food was exceptionally well made and tasted fantastic! Very British gastropub style food! The sticky toffee pudding was the highlight for sure, as well as the exceptional view outside!

Lovely pub on the river, great seating outside worth the price. Had pork scratchings which were great and Sunday roast - beef. Only 2 slices of meat so could have been a bit more there. Potatoes weren’t crispy on the outside, rest of the veg was pretty good. Still highly recommend for the setting
Scott B — Google review
Location, Location, Location. Sitting on river under the bridge this is a must stop for drinks for any visitor in Henley. We stop there every time we get into Henley as the views of the bridge and river are brilliant. On good weather weekend it will be packed on the terrace with happy drinkers (and many dogs). The service is quite efficient and trying hard to keep with flood of orders. Food is OK but considering price/quality ratio we mostly drink here. We will come back as it's an amazing location.
Sam A — Google review
Whilst sitting on the outside tables gives a spectacular view of the river, the Sunday roast was lacking. The serving of meat was slightly disappointing as it was two very thinly cut slices of beef. There is SO MUCH veg (probably too much) the potatoes were sadly not crispy and slightly dry, the carrots were great. Yorkshire pudding was also soft and not warm when served. Staff are friendly and in the winter, sitting inside by the fireplace with a drink is wonderful.
Bianca P — Google review
A classic pub nothing too fancy but it always hits the spot. The fish and chips. Boy oh boy! They hit every single taste bud standing in my mouth. So crispy the fish so fresh and the fries. Blew me out of the water I mean mouth watering juicy salty fries were just so yummmm also apparently the beer was very good but I did not try because I’m not the legal age too! Overall had a great time at the local pub definitely going to be a staple for next time I come here!
Alexander S — Google review
My partner and I decided to have dinner inside and not along the river. The food was excellent and the staff. Would recommend this place to family and friends
Kathy W — Google review
Another busy pub by the river. Really nice spot with nice beers and decent pork scratchings!
Mat C — Google review
Nice pub right on the river in Henley. We stopped for a drink and got a good table in the window. Dog friendly although there's not much room inside when it's busy. Loads of tables outside though when it's warm enough. Pleasant place to while away an Autumn afternoon.

The Three Tuns is a delightful and inviting old pub adorned with traditional wooden furnishings. Its menus change seasonally, offering a variety of delectable dishes, and it also hosts live music performances. Located at 5 Market Place RG9 2AA and reachable at 01491 410138 or on their website http://www.threetunshenley.co.uk/, Sandra and Mark have successfully revived the establishment after previous subpar management.
Called for a drink and decided to have Sunday lunch. Staff were lovely and sorted us a table for 2, even though they were extremely busy. Roast pork dinner and chicken were both nice. Ample vegetables came separately, and we asked for extra gravy, and it was no trouble to them.
Rose C — Google review
A well established pub that has just been upgraded. Simple and small inside. Must book to ensure you get a table. Small concise very nice menu. Prompt polite service. We had only main courses. Pork chop and lamb cutlets with sides of new potatoes and rocket salad. Very well cooked and delicious. Didn’t wait too long. Food hot and very well presented. Two glasses of rose wine. What’s not to like. Connected to “Machins butchers” so you know the meats going to be good 😁 Will definitely go again. Recommend 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

We visited the Three Tuns for lunch. The food was excellent. We ate fish & chips and it was some of the best I have had. All homemade and very good quality. Generous portions. The service was very friendly. We will certainly be going back.
Conor D — Google review
We had lunch in the cozy casual bar area as it had a nice open fire on a cold day. Interesting flavoursome dishes well prepared with ample portions. Friendly staff but table service suffered somewhat even though it wasn’t busy. Very good value for the quality of the dishes.
Gio L — Google review
Beautiful pub, great atomosphere and the food is incredible. All the meat is sourced from Gabriel Machins (butchers) next door & their top chef is brilliant - don’t miss out. You can switch it up too - Sunday afternoons they have double smash burgers & soft serve ice cream which are well worth a second visit for. Great staff, all attentive and fast. This place is a real gem and easily the best local in the area.
Alex M — Google review
Enjoyed a really delicious meal this evening in a wonderfully informal atmosphere. Loved everything but the service made it special - Nigel, Ben and young lady (sorry forgot your name!) were incredibly attentive and professional and Henry the chef also came to chat. He has an amazing background and our meal was outstanding. Everything was perfect. What could we improve? Nothing! Thanks!
Guy E — Google review
A table was reserved for us in the bar area surrounded by a noisy crowd of pissed-up blokes. Despite the decent quality of the food, the ambience was woeful, the bar was cold, and the fireplace was useless and smokey. I lost count of the number of times we had to stand up to shut the bar door to keep the cold air out. The staff couldn't manage the situation. Serving restaurant quality food (Michelin Guide) in the bar area - NOT working. This experience cost £120, and was unfortunately our wedding anniversary meal out. In hindsight, we should have left after the starters

Just had a very enjoyable lunch with my son. Excellent food, a great pint of Guinness and a delicious glass of orange wine. The service was friendly and spot on. Great music and a lovely, well tended real fire. I might move in.

The Argyll, located at 15 Market Place in Henley-on-Thames, is a newly refurbished ale and cider house that offers a relaxed atmosphere and delicious pub grub. The interior has a classic feel while the outdoor space features a 120-seater garden with an outside bar and Burger Shack. Beer enthusiasts will be delighted by the wide selection of craft beers available, with 20 keg lines and 10 cask lines on offer.
Lovely atmosphere, lively and chatty. Warm welcome from staff. Beer cold and crisp. The Big Argyll Burger was amazing! Recommend!
David D — Google review
The only thing I could recommend in this place is the choice of music. They serve canteen food that looks pathetic and tastes like it’s been cooked and laid around for a while (burger patty not fresh). Atrocious customer service, male manager intentionally showing us his attitude, he made a scene out of 4 pieces of tortillas, quite unnecessary really, understood you guys were enjoying a lazy evening until we turned up to an empty pub, but you were open so it’s not our fault.
Christine K — Google review
Went to Henley to watch friends “Morris Dancing “ (see video) 😁🕺 Time for a 🍺 so let’s try The Argyle just across the road. Never been in there before. A real eye opener. Fantastic beer selection 🍻 Shall we go outside said someone 😁 Amazing beer garden that goes on forever. Who knew? Booths and tables a plenty. Great atmosphere Morris dancers came in for a drink and played music. Great fun and really enjoyed this pub. Recommended 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Wonder what the foods like? Very friendly bar staff😁
Larry H — Google review
Is there such a thing as ‘prison chic’? If there is and it’s your thing, head to The Argyll. I forked out nearly £20 for frozen processed fish, frozen powdery chunky chips, a tablespoon of (I assume frozen) mushy peas and the same of tartar sauce, both served in what must be super speed biodegradable paper cups. I can only think the salt must have been top notch because the food wasn’t worth a fiver. If prison chic is not a thing, my apologies to all prisons. I’ve never been in one but the food in them must be better than this. I mean, they’re quite popular places. Unlike here on a Tuesday. Of course, I have to acknowledge the staff. If only for their comedic efforts to pull a Guinness. I reckon of the £6.90 I paid for a pint, over £1.20 of it was for the bishop’s collar head. No wonder the on trade is dying a death. People will not put up with such mediocrity. I won’t.

Its a great find in Henley. Its buzzy and friendly. Reasonably priced food that is decent with a good menu. Have the Sunday roast for 2!. Book a pod and sit outside. Good for watching sports as each one has a TV. It has personality which is not always easy to find these days.
Paul R — Google review
Had a brilliant meal here last week. My pie and mash was delicious and my husband loved his kebab. Welcoming staff. Dog friendly. Nice to see that it was busy as it deserves to be.
Stephanie P — Google review
What a lovely pub! Even though situated in the middle of Henley, it has a lovely outside area with a variety of seating otions. The food was good and the service was excellent!! Such friendly, upbeat staff. Nothing was too much trouble. After our lunch on Friday we kind of used The Argyll as our base and returned there whenever we had gaps in the plans. Will certainly be back next time we visit Henley.

The Anchor Pub and Restaurant, located at 58 Friday Street, is a charming establishment with an elegant interior and an inviting garden. It offers a variety of traditional dishes and European mains. Recently refurbished under the management of Jeremy Buckler, who previously ran the Angel on the Bridge, this wood-beamed pub provides a lovely atmosphere. The friendly staff are highly accommodating, ensuring that every visit is hassle-free. The service is remarkable, with attentive and positive barmaids and staff members.
Had such a lovely time here! We sat out in the garden which is the perfect spot on a sunny day. We loved the choice the menu had to offer. The ciabatta sandwiches and small plates are a huge hit and great value (order the honey mustard sausages, thank me later). Elliot and the team are a class act and bring a load of energy and character to the place. Will definitely be back!

Had the best day here for a friend’s get-together! The pub garden was really nice—felt private and got great sun. The pub is right by the river. The food? UNREAL. Still thinking about those honey mustard sausages—insanely good. Ciabattas, calamari, and chicken wings were also DELICIOUS! Big shoutout to Elliot, Ella, and the whole team—everyone was so lovely. Thanks for an incredible time! Will definitely be back!!
Qian T — Google review
The food here is absolutely incredible. I had the steak frites, which were cooked to perfection, and also tried the pie from someone else at the table. it was amazing. Special mention has to go to the red cabbage (the best I’ve ever had) and the rich, delicious gravy. I loved it so much I ordered a portion for my steak frites! The staff are attentive, kind, and welcoming. Elliot in particular is lovely, you can really tell he cares about the pub and the people in it. The atmosphere on Friday was wonderful, and the garden is such a great space. I can already imagine how perfect it will be in summer. Can’t wait to come back!

Lovely pub on the river. Great food, good beer, friendly and attentive staff, and a brilliant location. Our group spent the afternoon and the evening enjoying this beautiful and friendly Pub. There’s a good selection of drinks, our meals were fresh, tasty and good value and we felt well looked after. Highly recommend!
Tom G — Google review
Had an exceptional Sunday Roast at the Anchor, I usually leave disappointed when I have a roast “out”, not here! The red cabbage was absolutely a stand out & worth a visit for that alone. Beef was tender, potatoes were crispy and vegetables were roasted perfectly. Everything (and more) you want from a Sunday Roast. Well done to new Landlord & Team for arguably the best roast in Henley.
Hannah B — Google review
We held an event at The Anchor and it was fantastic. The staff were helpful and efficient. The food was absolutely delicious and came out in stages so that everybody could get a plateful. A wonderful atmosphere. All that attended had a fantastic time. We'll be back!

The Little Angel is a historic pub located near Henley Bridge, offering a blend of traditional charm and modern style. Recently revamped by experienced restaurateurs, the pub boasts an eclectic decor with cozy spaces featuring log burners and chesterfield sofas. The menu features elevated British classics crafted by talented head chefs who previously worked at renowned establishments. Additionally, the pub offers a conservatory with ample natural light and a garden for outdoor dining in pleasant weather.
I have experienced several amazing evenings in this pub! The mushroom style flatbread with a bottle of rose was absolutely delicious! The beef roast dinner is superb, and I always order a nice desert too. All the staff are great and I’m treated like a queen. Matt the owner is such a charming and wonderful man! The chef is a funny character and loves cooking for everyone. The team of girls were lovely and very attentive! One last thing. Best burger ever here!!!!!!!!!!

A beautiful spot to stop off at on the way home from our wedding this week! We are so happy we found the Angel. We bought our fluffy chow chow dog and she had a snooze in front of the fireplace after a hectic week! It was relaxing with a lovely feel about the place, the service was great and we really liked the menu. The food was impressive and a step beyond the normal pub standard. My wife had the vegan bean and sausage stew which was absolutely delicious and it was great for to have several options available that weren’t the usual standard options given. I had the halloumi sticks and then the philli sandwich which was absolutely brilliant. Our lunch was the perfect end to the happiest week of our lives and we’d like to thank the Angel for being the little cherry on top! 🍒
Laurence R — Google review
The Sunday carvery was one of the best. A large selection of well cooked and flavourful meats, and every trimming you could want. The serving of meats is generous and the majority of sides are seasoned and cooked perfectly. Was not a fan of the parsnips, seemed they were undercooked, but that was the only blip on the meal. Finished off with a sticky toffee pudding which is sickly sweet (as you’d expect) but the cake is moist and the sauce is made well.
Bianca P — Google review
Absolutely fabulous. Had the Ribs that I could only recommend highly. Owner was there and staff always attentive to your needs and ensuring all was in order without pestering you. Restaurant and Pub fully redone and what a fantastic venue , extremely busy and popular. Finally found my Rack of Pork Ribs to S.A. Perfection. Was like being back home. Also loved the Affogato . All round Excellent Venue and well done to the New Owners and Staff.

After failing to get to other pubs in the area that were dog friendly, we chose The little Angel; after an extensive google search learnt it had a car park; as my husband is disabled and cannot walk far. The menu features dishes inspired by South Africa, Germany, and Switzerland, including small plates like panko chicken wings, beef roulade, hake goujons, and charcuterie.
My husband & I came here for a special occasion on a quiet Sunday evening and were bowled over by the food! It was the best roast I've had in a long time. We had the beef & the pork on a sharing platter, and both were beautifully cooked. The staff were very friendly & attentive. The atmosphere was cosy. Would highly recommend Hofs!

We popped in as we were parked nearby and just wanted a drink - and although we didn’t eat the menu looks fabulous with special deals during the week and a large seating area that just keeps on going. The staff were friendly and informative and my coffee, which tasted good - also came with a mint (joy). Well worth second visit me thinks

After the 2025 Royal Regatta, Sunday evening popped in for dinner, as it look not too busy. Menu not too long. Great wine list. Went for the Pork Knuckle - WOW. The meat was perfect and the glaze very very tasty. HIGHLY recommend a visit. I'll definitely be going back. How much did we spend - Main course/wine/6 G&T.

Best Sunday roast I've ever tried ✅ in the UK. If anyone said British food is tasteless, can bring them here to override their thoughts about British food lol However, I've only tried the Sunday roast so can't comment about the other dishes but we have had a good experience, this made our Sunday

My dear friends had a wedding here and the service was impeccable. Tasty food and service was on point, the South African man in charge of drinks needs a special mention, alas he was so good st his job that I can't remember his name because my wine glass was never empty 🤪 seriously though, he was lovely, very friendly amd nothing was too much trouble.

Today we went to Hoffa for the first time and it was Father’s Day. We had a wonderful time! Being South African, it was such a treat to have South African food and drink options! Everything was cooked to perfection! We will definitely be back! Thank you for making Father’s Day so special.

We met with a couple of our friends for lunch at Hof’s. This appears to be a family run business by a lovely & welcoming South African family. Our order: a couple of beers, a glass of Rosé, starters of the Boerewors and Frankfurter, 3 orders of the Potjekos and a Piri Piri chicken. We finished with desserts (the chocolate mousse, a Sacher cake and the Koeksisters). All the food was flavourful and freshly prepared. The chicken has a 45min cook time and is worth the wait (tender and moist). The Potjekos has super soft lamb chunks & veg in a rich stew. The customer service was lovely and we were glad to have visited. The bill was about £40-50/head. Highly recommended.

This traditional pub offers a cozy atmosphere with low-key rooms and an inviting garden, perfect for enjoying sunny days. Friendliest pub in Henley. Beautiful building oozing history and staff that will always welcome you. The food is superb - it’s pub grub but done to perfection. I’ve had the shepherd’s pie and chilli and would highly recommend. The food and place are full of character. I’ve not had the pleasure of a Sunday roast yet but am told they’re the best around. I’ve stayed in two of the rooms and they are quiet, quirky and comfortable. I’d also recommend these.

Lovely pub off the beaten track Very difficult parking so used long stay which cost us £10.00 Basic rooms a little pricey at £95 with no breakfast Our room was very cold - lovely warm pub and landing so noticed it even more. Perhaps having the radiator on, on arrival would help + took until we were leaving the next day to warm up

Today my family and I went for a lovely Sunday roast for Father’s Day. My dad is suffering from a severe brain injury and therefore has many accessibility needs so I had some concerns when booking. But, not only was the pub very honest and supportive about the steps / access but they were also incredibly kind and helpful when we were moving with Dad around the pub. The food was delicious and the service attentive and we look forward to a return visit. Thank you.
Maddy S — Google review
Was here with my uncle for Sunday Roast. It was good, more of a homemade style Sunday roast than like what famous Sunday roast places serve. Serving was generous. The outdoor area where our table is might need a bit of cleaning as there were loads of cobwebs around. Overall, it is a good pub with homemade food.
Rose A — Google review
Great pub for locals who enjoy their Brakspears - out of the way of the day trippers and with a lovely pub garden to boot. Gravity is delicious of course - but look out for the Sunday roasts - equally tasty.

Just off the beaten track, a lovely ‘proper’ pub with great service. My only negative would be I was hoping for a better choice of cask ales but they have plenty of other beer. Guess they’re serving what sells. Perfect pub if you want to avoid the crowds and tourists coming in off the river. NB. It was a certain Mr Harrison’s local and supposedly was occasionally seen enjoying their hospitality

Not a bad place to end your night but not the best either. The DJ is playing some pretty good tunes on a Saturday night and you have a good selection of booze and places to sit either in the bar or dance area but it never quite clicks as a great dance venue. But then again this is Henley and it is probably the best in town.

We came for the bottomless pizza and cocktails deal….. £30 for a pizza and as many cocktails as you can drink in 90 mins.. our bar tender was Holly she was absolutely awesome. Each of the cocktails was easily worth £10-£15 and we smashed a fair few making this an absolute deal!! The vibe, decor and ambience where exceptional. Great prices awesome deals and great chat. 100% new favourite cocktail bar top points A++

Probably the most eclectic karaoke bar I've ever been to. A group of us more mature (in age not spirit) students went to the bar and had the most amazing night. Just pure much needed fun after a long day's lecture!!

Bouncer kicked two of us out for opening the door to the outdoor area, after our group of 8 had paid £20 a head to enter (the only marking on the door says "PUSH TO OPEN" and there was no signage to say 'do not open'). The same bouncer then lied to Holly, the manager, in front of us claiming we were aggressive and messing around in the bar's garden. I am sure you have CCTV cameras and the ability to check if your staff lie to your face or not. Have visited 'Magoos' many times in the past whilst attending HRR, and have even recommended to friends - neither will happen in future.

This is my first time visiting the UK, and I’ve really enjoyed the beautiful weather in June. During the final week of my trip, I chose to stay in Henley-on-Thames and had a lovely meal at The Bull. Vinnie, was incredibly kind and professional. At the end of the meal, he asked if I was here for the Regatta—but at the time, I didn’t know what that word meant. I truly appreciated his thoughtfulness and he shared that with me. It was a wonderful experience!

I want to say thank you to Chloe for a wonderful Saturday evening. We really enjoyed the food , service and atmosphere. Being able to order drinks and put it on our table before our table was ready was perfect and it got better from then. For my starter CRISPY SALT & PEPPER FRIED SQUID Garlic aioli and grilled lemon , it was light and the flavours complimented each other and it was amazing. For my main I had LAMB RUMP Fresh mint, new potatoes, red wine jus, peas, tenderstem broccoli and it was beautifully cooked . I would have liked the Lamb a bit more pink but I still loved it. It was an amazing dish. Desert I had MANGO & PASSION FRUIT ETON MESS which tasted heavenly , I loved every mouthful. It is a beautiful establishment. I would recommend everyone to eat , drink and enjoy.

A wonderful pub experience! This pub is warm, spacious, and welcoming, with both indoor and outdoor seating that feels cozy yet open. The outdoor area is especially charming, with a lovely countryside vibe and blooming flowers all around. As for the food – absolutely top notch! I had the steak and fries, cooked perfectly rare just the way I like it. Delicious and satisfying. But what I appreciated the most was the atmosphere: relaxed, not too noisy, and with plenty of space between tables. It’s the kind of place where you can truly unwind and enjoy your meal in peace. Highly recommended!

Second visit and another really pleasant experience . Both times served by Vinnie who is the right side of attentive without being intrusive. Lovely atmosphere , a great place to be in on a miserable Wednesday evening. …or any evening really. Thank you, we’ll be back.

Popped in here today as it was listed at our campsite as dog friendly, all I can say is wow! What a little gem, well actually it's not little, it's huge. Really lovely decorated, great atmosphere, clean, yes dog friendly and food was awesome, staff attentive and really enjoyed our visit.

Lovely place hugely let down by extremely slow staff and mediocre food, the fish and chips was claggy and felt like it was the end of the day food, definitely not fresh, as if it had been left for a while (we were there at 6:45), my risotto was undercooked and wasn't great, the arancini starter was delicious - the one thing that was actually good about our evening. Staff were extremely slow with no more than 20 tables I find it difficult to excuse it, 25 mins for mains which is understandable, but then 20 minutes for desserts - a slice of pecan pie with ice cream and a strawberry sundae which was three scoops of ice cream, not sure why it took so long. Also not presented with napkins when given desserts? Presented with the bill but then had to wait a further 15 minutes for someone to come over for us to pay, at this point we just wanted to leave but couldn't get the attention of the staff as they were barely there! Overall was massively disappointed as it's a lovely place with a great menu, just hugely let down by service and not great food, overpriced for what it is. Also not asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside, we would've preferred inside as it was very hot in their patio area. Good selection of drinks.

My dining experience at the Coppa Club in Henley truly surpassed all expectations, marking a memorable evening filled with delight. The highlight of our meal was a sumptuous Tomahawk Steak that was shared among us. This wasn't just any steak; it was arguably the best steak serendipitous delight that tantalized our taste buds. The steak was cooked to perfection, boasting a succulent, tender interior with a beautifully seared crust that was flavorful . Every bite melted in our mouths. Additionally, the service was impeccable. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, welcoming smiles that made us feel right at home. Our server Lucas was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring our glasses were always filled, and each course was served seamlessly. We can't wait to return. Highly recommended!

I’ve always been a fan of Coppa Club locations, and today was my first visit to this particular one—it didn’t disappoint! The ambiance is absolutely charming, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing summer breakfast. The vibe is laid-back yet stylish, with beautiful decor and a welcoming atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. We were lucky to be served by Fatima, who truly made our visit extra special. She was warm, friendly, and attentive throughout our meal, always wearing a cheerful smile. Her genuine hospitality added a personal touch that made us feel well taken care of. The menu was familiar, consistent with what you’d expect from any Coppa Club—classic favorites done right. From the freshly brewed coffee to the delicious breakfast plates, everything was prepared to a high standard and served promptly. Whether you’re craving something sweet or savory, the options here cater to every mood and preference. Overall, this visit reaffirmed why I love Coppa Club. It’s not just about the food, but the whole experience—from the beautiful setting to the excellent service. I’ll definitely be back soon, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy breakfast spot with great service.

I would highly recommend this establishment as it delivers on amazing staff, wonderful food and a lovely ambience. Five stars all round *****

The menu includes vegetarian options, making it suitable for various dietary preferences. We chose The Three Horseshoes for our monthly craft club last night as we heard it’s under new management and wanted to try it out. We had such a great time. Every single member of staff was so accommodating, and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and give us the best experience. The food was delicious - we had some starters and pudding, my favourite were the smoked mackerel on toast, the nachos and the apple crumble. We’ll definitely be back very soon!

Nipped in for a Sunday roast before a train ride home. 2 mins drive from Henley Train Station/8min walk. Doors opened at 12:00pm, we shot in and our dinner was on the table at 12:20pm. Succulent beef and chicken, was opted for my plate. The Yorkshire puddings were so light and fluffy. Cauliflower cheese was perfect and super tasty.veg was cooked to perfection and the red cabbage was AMAZING. Highly recommend this place. Also has a pool table, live sports on 2 screens, an open log fire and wonderful friendly service.

We pulled over not knowing what would be inside - and what a successful find it was. We had a light lunch, which was lovely and well presented. The owners were friendly and the pub/dining area was good - not pretentious and xx an area you would like as your local. We will stop again, when travelling through Henley, and look forward to trying some of the main courses

To break our journey to Gloucestershire, we decided to stop off at Henley for a walk along the river and a bit of lunch. Checking out the options online we found this place had a "normal" food menu at reasonable local prices. Both the wine and beer were excellent. Our meals were tasty and filling. Omelette and chips may be simple fare but it was cooked to perfection. We decided to stop off on our return to Kent and again we were not disappointed.

The Old Bell is a charming pub located in a 14th-century building. It offers an array of traditional British dishes and serves authentic ales. The pub occasionally hosts live music events, adding to its vibrant atmosphere. Situated in the heart of Henley, this lovely establishment boasts good beer and friendly staff. With its cozy interior resembling a welcoming front room, complete with a delightful fireplace, visitors can enjoy the warm ambiance all year round.
We went there for a couple of drinks before dinner on an October Saturday evening. We absolutely loved the atmosphere. The pub is located in an old building dating from 1365 (!!), ceilings are quite low (mind your head if you're tall) and it was full of locals. The team behind the bar was very welcoming. There's a beer garden in the back with heating poles if needed, but we stayed by the counter and played some boardgames with a Guinness and an espresso martini in hand. 💯% recommend

Would recommend to anyone- you won’t be disappointed your be very much looked after! X

Ordered an Oxford Gold and it was old, tasted like vinegar. Changed it for other ale which was Brakspear IPA but that was cloudy and not right either. So, £20.48 for a Guinness and a double G&T it was, Thought I was in Covent Garden for a minute!

A cozy, quirky pub, with so much character. Loved popping in here for a drink. A great atmosphere, friendly service. Plenty of selection and good prices. Only advice...watch your head on the beams!!! Duck, duck, duck!! I have a recomendation after witnessing a customer hit his head badly on the beam near the bar. I am sat in another pub right now and in the picture attached they have cushioned the risky beam. May e an idea for "The Old Bell". As the sign is not visible enough to customers.

What a gem! It is sooooooo refreshing (pun intended) to see a wine menu which offers more than just a Pinot Grigio, Chenin Blanc, or Sauvignon Blanc by the glass. And this place has a fantastic selection. I've been here a few times but the last time I went in, I asked for a white wine recommendation as someone who always orders a NZ Sauv. The lovely lady (I'm afraid I didn't catch her name) brought me a taster of 3 different wines to choose from! And, from that selection, I have now found a new favourite white wine. It might seem pricier than other options but that's how much decent wine costs. For anyone thinking it's overpriced, you're welcome to go to the Catherine Wheel (Wetherspoons) to have your Shiraz out of a tap, if that's what you're used to. Definitely pop in here if you're around Henley and fancy a treat.

We walked past this stunning wine gallery on our way to dinner and popped in for a bottle of red to finish the evening. I was in awe of this place from the second we walked in. I've been to many bars and enjoyed a glass of wine, however, I can confidently say that this has been my best experience and most enjoyable! This place ticks every box for its cosy ambience, friendly service and wine! Hope to enjoy plenty more evenings here and would highly recommend it to everyone! Thank you for a lovely evening : ) x

A delightfully tranquil oasis in amongst the Henley shoppers on a Saturday. We were going to stop for coffee and cake, but the wonderful interior of Jacobini drew us in, with its variety of antique and junk furniture and abundance of fairy lights. So pretty. A group of friends walked from Henley to The Plough Shiplake for an early evening dinner. From the moment they entered, they could tell it was going to be a memorable experience. The pub's decor was fantastic, allowing them to witness the kitchen in action and even explore the impressive private dining room. The dinner itself was amazing, accompanied by delicious cocktails. They later enjoyed the sunset in the ferric beer garden. A standout dish was the beef sharing platter, which exceeded expectations.
Had a great Sunday lunch here, the pub and the gardens have been recently renovated and was beautifully done. The staff were polite and attentive. The food was lovely, but we did find the bill a bit on the hefty side, however we had seen the prices before we booked, so wouldn't take a star off for this. There were three of us, we had: one sharing platter starter for two, three x roast beef, two cocktails, and a pint an a half of draft larger- £195
Kate N — Google review
My husband and I ate here while out hiking recently and thought it was a pleasant experience. We were warmly welcomed and seated without a prior reservation which we appreciated. The staff were attentive and polite and took our order for both drinks and food. The interior is nicely decorated and they had some live musicians playing which was nice and not too loud so we could still enjoy conversation with the background music. I did find myself feeling quite cold towards the end of our meal. The drinks were lovely and arrived quickly. We did wait considerably longer for our food to arrive and although the food was nice, it wasn’t outstanding for the price. We felt the portions of vegetables I.e one half of a carrot and a spoonful of kale with the mushroom wellington dish wasn’t particularly good value and the density of the oyster mushroom made it difficult to eat. My husband who is a self proclaimed burger connoisseur felt the burger was okay but again, nothing spectacular. He was also not impressed with the halved baby gem lettuce that was sold as a Caesar salad. There was no mention that it would have anchovies on, which he isn’t keen and probably would not have ordered/asked that they not be included had he been aware. Overall we spent near £100 for two drinks, two main dishes plus two sides and left still hungry which was quite the disappointment.

The main part of the pub has the cozy feel of a cottage front room with a real log fire, making it an inviting spot during bleak winter evenings or at Christmas time. It's evident that this establishment was once someone's home two to three hundred years ago.
I love this cocktail bar so much! James, the owner, is a super guy, let’s you play your own music out his speaker by the bar, makes you cocktails not on the menu, just a sound dude who loves his customers and bar!! I’ve heard that they’re planning big things this month going into Christmas so will defo be back for sure 10/10

Brilliant place! The Russian/Eastern European woman wasn’t super friendly but the other staff were. Great drinks! My friends and I ordered espresso martini’s tonight. Lovely vibe for drinks!

First time in here.. Good ale selection, friendly staff. Nice garden area and cute snug downstairs. Ladies loo is lovely too!

Good beer range, alas no draft darks. Some Belgian bottles, including Straffe Hendrik blonde. A modern craft pub, probably trying to hard to be hip.

Popped in on the spur of the moment and what a delightful it was! Great venue with indoor, outdoor and basement venue. Perfect for private parties! Best of all, we were enticed into the premises by a lovely lady called Angel, who solved our indecision and welcomed us inside. She whipped up some fabulous cocktails, unsold us on some cashews and we had a terrific evening! Thank you Angel for your efforts!

Friendly staff, great selection of beers, beer garden very welcome on a hot day. Definitely going to become a regular for us.

Knowledgeable staff and a fantastic selection of beers and spirits, as well ask craft cocktails. Appears small at a glance, but has extensive seating at the back and downstairs as well as a hidden garden. A breath of fresh air amongst the regular haunts in Henley, and definitely somewhere I’ll point people towards.
