Historic Sites
Gammelstad Church Town, a UNESCO protected site in Sweden, is the country's largest church town and was once the medieval center of northern Sweden. The 1492-built Nederlulea church is a highlight with its impressive reredos and opulent pulpit. The area boasts 420 wooden houses where pioneers stayed during weekend pilgrimages, as well as six remaining church stables.
UNESCO site for a good reason! The story behind church towns is something I’d never heard of before. These small cabins were built to use as a place to stay for people from farms too far away to drive to church and back in one day. Compulsory church attendance was the law in Sweden. Today they are still privately owned and people still use them to attend church it have family get together.
The museum explains it all and has great displays and even since film footage from the 1920’s since they were used into the 1950’s for their original purpose. Very cool place!

Gammelstad Church Town in Luleå is truly one of the most charming and historically rich places I’ve visited in Sweden. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this well-preserved church town dates back to the 15th century and features over 400 small red wooden houses built around the impressive Nederluleå Church.
Walking through the narrow gravel paths feels like stepping into a different era. The peaceful atmosphere, the unique northern Swedish architecture, and the sense of tradition are simply unforgettable. It’s incredible to think that these little cottages were once used by churchgoers who traveled long distances and stayed overnight for Sunday services.
The area is exceptionally well maintained, and it’s easy to see how much the locals value and protect this cultural treasure. Whether you visit in the summer under the midnight sun or in the winter when everything is covered in snow, the town has a timeless charm.
There are also guided tours, a visitor center, and small local shops that add to the experience. It’s a perfect destination for those who love history, culture, and peaceful surroundings.
I highly recommend visiting Gammelstad if you’re anywhere near Luleå. It’s a magical place that stays with you long after you leave.
Gammelstad Church Town in Luleå, Sweden, is a wonderful place to visit. The old wooden houses and the beautiful 15th-century church are very interesting. Walking around the village feels like going back in time. It's a great spot for anyone who likes history and old buildings. Highly recommended!
Lulea old town is a must for families visiting Lulea.
The streets are stunning and there is an open air museum with fun activities for the kids.
We had Fika in a nearby small shopping centre before finding the centre of the old town about 1 km away.

Scenic church village. Didn't visit the church because both times we tried there was a funeral taking place (two different funerals). Nevertheless, there were some activities (for families) happening at the open air museum and had the opportunity to see some folklore scenes from Swedish peasant life like bread making, and blacksmith works.
Did a visit during the afternoon and evening. Very beautiful and peaceful to be here. It’s a nice visit for free and there is a lot of information here to read on signs and in a visitors center (with gift shop).
A must-see when in Luleå. So much history.
I was here at 08:30 hrs on a cold February morning and had the place to myself!

Probably the best soft play we have been too. Loads of different things to do and while it was busy, it did not seem too busy. You have to pay for 3 hour sessions.

Super fun place for kids. Very spacious and with lots of fun spaces for the little ones.
On the bad side, toilets and food. Very few toilets. The place was at 10% capacity and we had to wait for the toilets every time. The available food was mainly precooked frozen fast food and the salads were not very fresh. You're not allowed to bring in food so the option is to feed your children garbage or nothing.
Very convenient visiting hours. Multiple options for entry fee, buying the annual membership card is good option. Very friendly staff. Very good playing area. Very good restaurant with good menu. Lot of activities options available for kids.....
My son loved it here while in Sweden. It’s a huge park for indoor play. Take your children here very clean and great staff!

Alcatraz is a sprawling multi-arena in Sweden, covering 10,000 square meters and offering an exciting mix of adventure and relaxation. It features activities like paintball, laser games, go-kart racing, and the unique challenge of Prison Island. Fantastic entertainment centre. There’s lots of interesting activities including bowling, escape room, laser room and an arcade amongst other activities. There’s a tasty restaurant with decent buffet.

Very fun for older children, lots of activities.
We booked an hour at Prison Island as a family with children aged 11, 8 and 6. However the two youngest ones were scared by the sounds, paintings and light shows of the prison cells, which made it impossible to fully enjoy the experience. In my opinion the place is not suited for children under 8. Apart from that the concept and facility is really fun and impressive!

Did both the "escape rooms" and spa.
The escape rooms were fun! I recommend having maybe 3 people, since you can then do more of the rooms, I also recommend doing them for more than an hour, 2h minimum. One hour went by in an instant! I'm swedish myself, but my girlfriend is foreign and I had to translate the instructions etc.
The spa was great. A lot of space, 2 nice bubble pools and 3 saunas. I would have wished that the saunas had different temperatures, because they all felt kinda the same. Even had some fruit snacks laid out which was a nice surprise. Nothing amazing, but super nice nevertheless!
If the escape room instructions were available in english and if the saunas had different temperatures, I would have given this place a 5 star.
Really cool, went there as a little party of grown ups and we had a great time! We ordered the pick up by the police interceptor, and a lady dressed up as a police officer picked us up, she was really nice and we got to take some pics of both her and the car for memories of the trip! A cool prison-theme all around the center and the food was cheap! We had loads of fun in both lazetag, gokart and arcades! Absolutely somewhere I'll go again!
Guess I'm just too old for this kind of a thing but the prison theme isn't quite my favourite in the fun department. The 'Food Court' is just one huge open space - kinda like a super gigantic school cafeteria - that (surprise) gets very noisy. The veggie burger for SEK 150 is a (bad) joke, especially when it takes ages to get it. Another great thing: you need *coins* for the lockers! Eh, what, is this also a part of the prison atmosphere perhaps? The upside, then: well, you guessed it: lots of activities for sure.
Lots of fun with what we managed to do. You really need to pre-book the different activities. We went there on a Saturday at 13 and most things was already booked up until 21..

I'd call this a deluxe hamburger place. More expensive than a 'regular' fast food restaurant but the food is made out of better quality ingredients. Applies to the mozzarella sticks, onion rings and french fries too.
The service was without issues even though we were tourists with kids and asked all kinds of tricky questions about the meal and drink options.
The place is decorated in their own style. Graphite paintings with attitude and whatnot. I liked the atmosphere but the hard chairs were a bit uncomfortable. I guess they are easy to clean with all the finger food being eaten but still...

Really good burgers. Buns are soft and burgers are moist but not soggy at all. Fries are super crisp with just right amount of seasoning.

Portions are not huge, could be a tiny bit bigger. Prices are fair for Swedish standards, but definitely not cheap.
This is a local burger house, in a location a bit out of downtown, behind a gas station. This location is apparently the original location and now there are over 60 locations.
They feature burgers, and have a vegie-burger option. You can upgrade your fries if you order a meal. Our family disagrees about which one is best, because so many are good. Lunch prices are great. Dinner prices are is.
The staff is very friendly and if they aren't busy will talk with you. They remember many of their customers. It is enjoyable to return here for a simple quick meal.
Hands down one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. Good with the double Luleå and get the animal fries. The truffle sauce can’t be beat either. I have come out at least once a week since I got here.

Food options are very limited for vegans. The service is dependent upon who is working that day. So expect to be surprised by not-so-awesome service or great service.
Pick the time you go there i would not recommend it when the youth are out of school or on holidays. It can get a bit too busy and the noise level increases and not in a pleasant manner, the cosy ir calm café atmosphere goes right out the window.
The best part about this place is "off-peak" hours one can have one's dog along in the restaurant. For me, that is a total bonus for pet owners.

My wife took the Dopiaza and I just had to try the Vindaloo stew and it was a good flavored food but not as hot as I thought,but ok.

The restaurant served a mix of Koreans, Chinese and Indian [sic] food, the latter probably since it is has taken over the address of what was long the only Indian restaurant in town. We tried the Koreans food this time, since it is what the kitchens primary aim seems to be.
The staff is friendly and the atmosphere kitschy. The food is nicely prepared and presented, yet lacks something important - the spice! If you want it spicy you firmly have to tell the staff so. Even though I ordered the Chowkeeng beef, labels with three chilis, the dish was mostly sweet and smooth, without a hint of any burning/spicy sensation.
So please visit, but if you want it spicy, let them know!

The staff were very friendly and totally made me feel welcome. Also the atmosphere was good & the drinks as well. The food was a little disappointing unfortunately. The first dish (fried shrimp) had no taste besides the cognac it was fried in. Also there were only 5 shrimp which were probably frozen. This in combination with a very large amount of liquid wasn’t really good. The main dish tasted good, the sauce was creamy and had a nice mushroom scent. The fries were crispy and I loved the dip. Unfortunately the meat was a little overcooked and tasted a bit boring. All in all it was a good evening with my friends last week but it wasn’t worth the price we paid.
Absolutely perfect. Friendly and attentive staff, best meat I've had in a very long time, and certainly the best ever in Luleå. Generous amounts of sauce and condiments. Pleasant and neatly decorated dining area. We will be returning many more times.
The only thing one could ask for is a wider variety of non-alcoholic cider options (fläder/elderberry isn't great with savoury meat dishes). But that is a very minor request – a wonderful experience all in all. Highly recommended!
The lunch was good. The bread with butter is really tasty. Entrecôte bit little but tastes good. Just drink is not included for lunch which is a minus. Great staff with hospitality. I do not like the salad.
This is a very good place to have a drink or two and of course get some dinner. The staff is very glad and polite and makes you feel welcome. The food was good and we had a great wine.

Wonderfull experience. They offer a lot of interesting meat options for their main dishes. I never had moose before untill i came here. It was cooked beautifully with skillfully prepared garnishes and toppings. Their starters are amazing aswell.
I highly recommend the mushroom toast, scollops and garlic bread (i did not know garlic bread can taste this good) as well as their olives. They somehow manage to make their olives taste salty, smokey and buttery at the same time. How? I dont know but it works so well. They also give people some delicious sourdough and fresh butter on the house.
We tried 2 desserts, the cloudberry dessert and the artic raspberry and raspberry dessert. The raspberry dessert stole the show for me. It was absolutly masterfully crafted.
This place will provide a highly enjoyable experience that i strongly recommend to everyone. We paid around £63 pounds per person (we were a party of 3 people) which i think is a very fair price for the service, quality and experience combined.

That day, it was very busy, and since we didn’t make a reservation in advance, they asked if we were okay with eating in about 1.5 hours. We agreed, but in the end, we were able to enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace until dessert.
The prices might be slightly higher compared to average, but I was really pleased with the restaurant’s elegant and sophisticated design. The food was distinctive, fresh, and delicious. The staff was very attentive and welcoming.
What a fun trendy place. Good music, service was outstanding. After our starter, the server asked if we wanted our main to go in or wait. So nice not to be rushed.
The food was melt in your mouth good!!!! Had the pepper steak, was cooked to perfection and they served the sauce on the side so you could put the amount you wanted on. My husband had the grilled reindeer and said it was excellent.
Highly recommend if you're in town to visit.

I had checked the restaurants in Luleå, and this one seemed like a solid choice. It went beyond our expectations.
We started with a drink and then ordered two different three-course menus. My löjrom starter was incredibly fresh, and my boyfriend’s mushroom toast was extremely tasty. The reindeer steak was the best dish of the night, worth every penny. The desserts were also delicious.
The service was warm and relaxed; you get the level of attention you expect from a restaurant of this level, but you never feel out of place.
It wasn’t cheap, but considering the high-quality food and the lovely service, it was absolutely worth it (price for two drinks, 2 menus with beer package and a glass of wine and coffe).

I felt that this restaurant had a bit of an identity problem. I expected a fine dining experience, but instead got a "this is fine" dining experience. There was an extensive wine list and the servers offered a wine pairing for a dish when asked, but the dishes lacked refinement. The dish called "smoked shrimp" was a huge bowl of unpeeled shrimp and two pieces of bread. In a pub type of situation this would have been fine, but in a white table cloth situation I expected more finesse. The Riesling from 2003 was a good pairing for the shrimp though!
I also had risotto and it was way too salty. My partner had the arctic char as their main dish, and that tasted great. That dish also was of a larger size, but had more proportion control than the shrimp as a starter.
This dinner was perfect. My sincere thanks to the chef(s). In the Skagen, the bread was the true hero, perfectly crisp (sweet) and supporting an immaculate blend of mayonnaise, sour cream and delicious prawns. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection, and the creme brulee was the ideal sweet finish to the meal.
Visited for a birthday celebration. The meat eaters loved their meals. We advised we were vegan before the day so they planned some vegan courses which were tasty. Great service.

Huge portions for the money you pay. Well worth it.
For having "sausage" in the name, they have horrible choice in sausages; salty hotdogs with mushy consistency and bland wieners. BUT their burgers are really tasty, sad "gatukök" patty, but the toppings and flavor makes up for it. And good pricing!

Amazing place for the kids to play around with cool practical things that teaches you about science. Very interesting also for adults. if you have kids, don't miss this great opportunity for them to play and learn how cool physics, minerals and other tech related topics are, including programming or engineering challenges. When it rains in summer it might be crowded. Takes 2-3 hours of fun until the kids get tired. There's a very good café for refuelling the energy. English friendly - all explanations and videos are in both Swedish and English.

A perfect place for families, curious adults, and anyone who loves to touch, try, and learn. This interactive museum makes science accessible and exciting – from mining simulators to space adventures. Everything is designed for hands-on learning, and even adults might forget they “only came for the kids.”
The planetarium is a highlight – a mini journey through the universe! The staff is friendly, the space is clean and modern, and the exhibits are updated regularly, so it’s worth coming back.
An ideal activity for a rainy day in Luleå, or whenever your brain feels like it needs a workout.
My family and I had the best day here. Brilliant! So much to see and do and learn. Very child-friendly. Café had run out of all food except hot dogs by 3pm so eat early if you want a decent meal.
I would say the target audience is 5-8 year old kids. They can easily spend some three hours here, the place has a lot to do. You can touch most of the exhibits and play with them. A play grocery store where you can beep barcodes. A truck driving simulator. A small river you can try to dam. A machine for making paper. A fake mine. And so on.
The place is in an essence a big hall without any noise cancelling features. Add a couple hundred kids and it's quite a cacophony. It was fun visiting but as an adult I was relieved to get out of there and have my ears rest. We decided to skip the restaurant because of the noise and restlessness.
Free parking next to the building as long as you write down your plate number to a list at the reception. In my opinion the entry tickets were very cheap all things considered. I recommend buying the tickets beforehand from the webshop in case the place gets full. It is very popular.
Teknikens hus is great for kids in almost Al ages. However, many things are broken and the food in the cafeteria is not that good. Anyway, you cna take your kids here to learn about how iron is made, about mining, among a lot of other things. Considering the entrance fee and all the broken exhibits it do not deserve more than three stars.

A nice place to make children more aware of technology and science. Many interesting things to look at and try for children (and adults).The rate of renewal is not very high, some of the equipment were around 30 years ago when I was a child, but there are also new addition or replacements from time to time. There is a restaurant on site and also a small shop for toys. It is mostly a large open space, so the noise level can become quite high, also inte the restaurant.

The view of the restaurant is fantastic. Personals are nice. But that’s all. The hummer linguine is a total failure. The linguine is tasteless and soggy. Must be cooked long time ago and not preserved properly. I was hungry but couldn’t even eat half of it. I don’t know how the source was prepared but it’s also tasteless. The lobster are only meat from claws and tastes nothing either. Seems from frozen ones to me. Do not recommend to order this dish from my opinion. Some of the tomatoes are not fresh. The mouse frites is quite ok with large quantity. Some of the shellfish are not fresh/alive. The arctic char tastes fine but very little in quantity. Like half of a fish. Bad experience for the price. The free bread is old and chewy. I do not recommend to eat here. Maybe a drink is fine. The waiter with the food got the wrong order at the beginning and I got burned by the hot water from the dish.

Bistron happened to be a total surprise for us! At first it looked closed from the outside, but inside we found lively atmosphere and excellent food. Specifically I had the best asparagus ever! Also tasty fish and desert. This place is not cheap but every SEK is worth it.
The Bistro has an outstanding location facing the sea. The landscape is marvellous during winter, still I bet it's as enjoyable in summer. The good bit is the food is as good as the sights out of the windows. The gnocchi starter I ordered featured a well thought mix of tastes; the reindeer was outstanding too, its cooking time was perfect for my taste.
Every summer we go to Bistron and it’s a great experience every time. This summer was actually slightly better than last year, much thanks to the splendid waiter. Very kind, speedy, attentive and knowledgeable – nothing to complain about really. The cocktails seem to have been updated – maybe there is a new bartender? – with contemporary ingredients such as whey, wine acids, chili oil, grilled peach etc. Nonetheless they were likeable and really tasty! The food was on fleek – everything was cooked to perfection and flavors were high. We had tuna, entrecôte, and lamb that all were delicious. The only negatives were the mussels that were a bit too spicy and bland and the outdoor heating which was way too hot. Regardless, I highly recommend Bistron.
I meant to do this review a year ago. I was in the area for work and Bistro Norrland staff are by far among the best I have had in my travels. Their mixologists were incredibly knowledgeable and adventurous. Their head chef runs an excellent menu, and serves top end dishes. Their wait staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Whenever I visit Sweden again, Lulea will certainly be one of my stops just for Bistro Norrland.
Excellent food and service! Best in Luleå! We enjoyed all our three courses menu and the wine pairing with the main dish was great! Portion and price were spot on! Easy to park just behind the restaurant with great outdoor seating next to water. Highly recommended!!

I arrived very early one summer morning and found I had this little beach all to myself, complete with the friendliest red squirrel in Sweden. Another treat just outside of the town of Lulea.
Amazing sunset views in the long summer days. Golden hour lasts for about 4 hours and they are perfectly captured here. There is a great walking trail that follows the shore and it is completely free. Can’t beat it!
I didn’t imagine that I could find a beach like that in Lulea. That place is very relaxing and there are many things you can do to enjoy your time there (a bbq for example). Also the rest of the park is awesome, everything’s perfect there, so I raccomend you this place

Definitely a classic among the Luleå recreational areas and beaches - and the one and only true 'city beach'. It's a shame that pretty much every year in early summer, when the school is out, the (very much unofficial) student parties turn the place to a mess with broken glass and other junk.

Right on the water.... Although it was raining so we had to sit inside. Very nice fibe inside.... Did not have reservations but they were able to sit a set a table. Portions are the perfect size so you don't walk away stuffed. My husband had the pork from Spain, and I had a sirloin that was cooked to perfection.

It’s genuinely frustrating when a place surrounded by such stunning natural beauty ends up being spoiled by the people running it. The regular staff, the servers and day-to-day workers, are kind, efficient, and exactly what you’d hope for in Sweden. Service here is usually warm, professional, and attentive, and most of the team absolutely live up to that standard.
The food is an eclectic taste of Sweden. With high prices come high expectations, and in terms of what's coming out of the kitchen, those expectations are mostly met. The dishes are well prepared, thoughtful, and offer something a little different with a touch of elegance.
But no matter how well the food is executed, it can’t make up for the bitter aftertaste left by upper management. The moment they’re involved, the atmosphere shifts. There’s an attitude of disinterest, even disdain, that leaves you feeling like your presence is a burden. They don't seem to care, and worse still, they seem fully aware that they don’t have to.
It’s not about language barriers or being a tourist either. I watched fluent Swedish speakers treated with the same cold indifference. It’s a deeper problem, one that feels rooted in a culture of superiority. Even more disappointing is the way they treat their own staff, often publicly talking down to them and making the environment uncomfortable for everyone.
This could be a remarkable destination. The location is beautiful, the menu is ambitious, and the regular staff clearly care. But the experience is soured at the top, and unfortunately, that leaves a lasting impression.
Great ambiance and great food. I ate medium rare reindeer, mushroom soup and cream brûlée. The meat was cooked to perfection. I loved it. I also heard the same comments from the people in the same dinner.

Despite some mixed reviews, I decided to give Bryggan a try and I'm glad I did. The arctic char I ordered was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. The service was attentive without being intrusive. If you're looking for a nice meal in a charming location, Bryggan is definitely worth considering. The prices are reasonable considering the scenic view of the sea/river that you get. The mussels were tasty and they also offer a decent selection of beers.

Decided to try Bryggan in spite of the somewhat negative reviews. I'm delighted that I did. Had a wonderful arctic char that was perfectly cooked and well presented. Service was attentive without being bothersome.
If you want a nice meal in a lovely setting, this is definitely an solid option.

Summary in three words: location, location, location! On a beautiful summer night, that is. This is the very place to be, enjoying food and drink outdoors in summer Luleä. Downsides are that it gets very crowded and very loud later during the night (well, it turns into a nightclub); service can be sluggish as well. Pricey.
Mediocre and expensive food. Loud music with a building setup that guarantees that you will have to shout to be heard across the table.
Waitresses that will look at you unbelievingly if you order something unusual (but that is on the menu).
Basically they are milking that they are placed in the harbour for all that it's worth.

On my initial visit to Råvara, I found their ordering system quite amusing as it involved using touchscreens, both for dine-in and take-out. Although the only language available was Swedish, I managed to overcome this hurdle by utilizing a mobile phone translation app. The selection of salads proved to be exceptionally delicious and flavorful. The restaurant's ambiance was also quite pleasant. Overall, deciding to dine at Råvara turned out to be a wise decision and I intend on returning in the future.

For day 3, we bundled attractions like South Harbour and Luleå Cathedral and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 7 hours.

It's frozen in winter times. That was a fantasy adventure for me to be able to walk on the frozen sea. u can reach to the small island on the other side and make a grill or just have tea like us :).

In winter you can walk on the frozen sea, ride a ‘spark’ (see the picture), have BBQ and afternoon tea there. In summer there are some shops where you can buy an afternoon tea and hire a kayak for a few hours. Additionally, there are also some facilities including an outdoor gym, basketball field, and skateboard track.
Perfect place for a small ship and very close to the city. The flowers in the summer were beautiful
Everything here is free, here you can play basketball and table tennis, beach volleyball, etc.

Luleå Cathedral, also known as Lulea Domkyrka, is a historic Gothic cathedral located in the center of Lulea, Sweden. It serves the Diocese of Lulea and the local Church of Sweden parish. The original wooden church on this site was replaced by a stone church in 1667, which later burned down in 1887.

Stadsparken is a charming and picturesque park located in the heart of Lulea, Sweden. It offers a perfect combination of natural beauty, recreational activities, and historical landmarks. A picturesque small park in the middle of Luleå. When i first moved here i found out that every December there is live outdoor theater for children for free, every day until 23rd Dec. (unless it was below -20 C) . During summer there are often small events here. It is also adjacent to the church in the middle of Luleå.

Nice place to sit and relax. Sometimes there are some events held there, for example the Swedish National Day celebration, Culture Night, and musical performances, etc. There are also 2 playgrounds for children. Beautiful flowers and decoration. After the renovation, the park looks more open and nicer.
Neat, tiny park in very central Luleå that has got a bit of a (badly needed) facelift. There are also very interesting further future plans for the park so stay tuned!

Small exhibition with some artifacts. There is some art and a little English information. It’s ok because it s free, hüt it’s nothing special. Especially when you’ve been at another „local“ museum of a city which lies north of Stockholm (they mostly have the same things in their exhibition). Everything I saw could have easily been displayed in a video.
Very nice museum in a quite square. Inside you can learn a bit more about cultural and historic facts and also about flora and fauna of Sweden. I recomend to have a quick visit.
The expositions in each floor are very disconnected. The first floor was about cows, the 2nd about the prehistory focused in the Norrbotten area but it was too technical to follow and 3rd one about art.

Beautiful culture center located at the north habour of Lulea. It has a library and holds concerts, meetings and art shows. Very stunning views. Worth a visit when one come to Luleå. Recommend it!
We were looking for some tips for our stay and they helped us kindly, giving us very interesting information about the city and nearby attractions. They speak perfect English too. The tourist center has some cute and local souvenirs, so it's definitely a must visit when in Luleå.

Beautiful building, both inside and out - a very positive contribution to Luleå. Library (get free WiFi with the library card), concert hall, meeting spaces, restaurant that is pretty good, a café by the entrance (the library WiFi works there, too). A parking garage underneath the building Both thumbs up for Kulturens Hus - and the architect bureau Tirsén & Aili as well!
They are celebrating the 10th Anniversary and have many cultural events. Right now they have a marvellous paint exposition. The library is very good.

A lot of differend kinds of trampolines. A big central area where you can bounce from one trampoline to another. Trampoline half-pipe where you can bounce to the wall, floor and then to another wall and back. Trampoline jumping to a foam pit. A ninja obstacle course for adults (kids can try it too but it is very difficult). It really is a big place. If you are new to the place I recommend at maximum taking the 1,5 hour ticket, my kids and I were completely exhausted around that point of time and just couldn't bounce any longer.
The cafe had a lot of convenient refreshments on offer. Different sodas, sparkling water, popcorn, chips, a very sizeable selection of ice-creams and so on.
I recommend bringing a water bottle. It gets really sweaty as you bounce away. There's a water fountain where you can fill you bottle for free.
The staff were nice, if rather young, and were able to converse with me in English without any problems.
The negatives for me were that it really is rather pricy for what it is. 215 SEK for 1,5 hours per person. If the price was 50 SEK cheaper then it would be perfectly all right but as it stands the place feels expensive compared to other indoor activity parks I've visited. Another negative is that the ventilation is not up to the task. It was really hot and stuffy inside the building and even gulping down water it's hard to not get a headache.
A thing to consider is that the place is really popular with families. When I visited with my kids like 95% of the other people bouncing were kids. It gets noisy inside the building and there are kids running and bouncing every which way. I think it could be worth trying to have adults only time slot in the evening once or twice a week.
You will need special trampoline socks with rubber soles to be allowed jumping. They cost 30 SEK a pair from the reception.
There's plenty of free parking space outside of the building.
Clean, friendly environment. Staff is helpful. Facilities clean. Tasty, affordable food and drink. Plenty of places to sit. Great place for the entire family and fun place to host a birthday celebration. A place you must visit while in Lulea.

I had high expectations for Taverna Gusto, but the experience was frustrating from the very beginning.
Upon arrival, the waiter realized we didn’t speak Swedish—but still refused to offer us an English menu. Another member of staff eventually brought one over, and a few minutes later, after noticing we were struggling to understand the local menu, he offered to bring us the English version (again). This lack of basic hospitality was already a huge red flag.
Then came the pressure: the waiter seemed to expect us to decide what to eat in 13 seconds, as if we were on a tight timer. No introduction, no explanation, no patience. It felt like we were being rushed rather than served.
We were seated at a table directly facing the blazing sun, with 30°C heat beaming at us—while numerous shaded tables around us sat empty. When I politely asked if we could move, the waiter pointed us to the least comfortable option possible: a table in the middle of the courtyard, still in direct sunlight. It was almost hostile.
As for drinks: I ordered a Coca-Cola and received a mystery liquid in a wine glass, filled with ice. No bottle, no explanation, no idea what it was. This is not just lazy—it’s unprofessional. On that basis, they could serve you anything — even pour and bring out someone else’s leftover drink. Would you gladly and confidently drink that at a supposedly high-end restaurant? It’s more than outrageous, considering the threatment from the very beginning!
We had placed our food order, but ended up leaving before it arrived. Sitting there drenched in sweat, after a week under the sun, was simply unbearable.
To top it all off, the waiter was wearing dirty, worn-out sneakers and carried himself with an air of superiority—trying to present a refined image while failing on every front. It felt like the entire place was more about playing a part than actually offering real hospitality. The hypocrisy and theatre were unmistakable.
We won’t be returning, and I suggest you don’t go in the first place. Style over substance, and zero warmth.
Excellent pizzas, neapolitan style. Pizza toppings are well considered and bit different than other pizzerias. I ate gustosa bianco and the flavors fit together really well.
Have been here in winter this year and now once again visiting this place. The quality of food is amazing and unchanged since my previous visit. I highly recommend this place to the readers who are welling to try authentic Italian cuisine.

When we visited Luleå, we searched for a nice place for lunch and found this cozy pizzeria, Taverna Gusto. The location is perfect—just by the park and at the end of the main pedestrian street—making it both easy to find and relaxing to visit.
We enjoyed a delicious selection of dishes including rainbow trout, pizzas, and a tender beef steak. Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavor. After lunch, we treated ourselves to a delightful mix of ice cream and espresso, which was the perfect ending to our meal.
What made the experience even better was the warm and friendly service. The waiter was incredibly kind, and we—along with our daughters—really appreciated the pleasant small talk and hospitality. Unfortunately, we didn't ask for his name to recommend him :-)

One of the best pizzeria in Luleå, they make a very good Neapolitan pizza with good and tasty ingredients, most of them comes from the Emporio Barattini store (same owner), which sells Italian food up here in the north. There are some essential traditional pizzas and also some Italian dishes and desserts. If you are here in Luleå and you want some Italian food, it is worth to visit it. Price are aligned at the Swedish prices, maybe some things are a bit more expensive but the overall quality/price ratio is good.
We arrived to the restaurant and were pointed to the bar where we could order the food. Apparently the taverna was closed but it was ok since we came for the pizza anyway. I didn't realise that the "better" side was closed also for seating and we ate at the bar.
The pizzas came fast and they looked rather nice altough other had burtn pimples in the crust it self. Both of the pizzas were burnt from the bottom side, one with the pimples more. Still the thick crust was almost raw dow... taste wise nothing special. Dissapointent for the prise, would not recommend.

Waldorf has a lot of options on the menu. And I’ve never been disappointed after a meal.
However the service has always been pretty slow and yesterday me and my family had to wait 70 minutes for our food (and yes, I reminded the waitress). Do better.
Went here on a Sunday after 8pm as it was basically the only option. The only available items on the menu were deep fried Asian food. No Japanese food, nor pizza nor steak was available.
The pricing was in no relation to the food quality. There are better options in Luleå.
As a vegan. This is NOT a place to go at all. I have been there a few times and I have been bitterly disappointed 😞 by their food, especially for the price tag. NOTE the vegan options. Can't fairly comment on their non-vegan options, from my own experience.
The service is usually good but my recent visit with my friends from church on Sunday left us bitterly disappointed. There was a buffet and the food was finished by the time we settled in around 13h00. The lady at the till was incredibly short and rude towards us. To the point where one of our friends took her baby and left.
This is so unfortunate as my entire family loves this place my husband grew up going to their restaurant as a kid but we are forced to go somewhere else instead.

We went there with my friend. She ordered a vegan burger, using English while pointing at the name of the dish. The burger came and it was clearly made with meat patty. She went to politely ask the waiter if the burger was actually vegan. The guy nodded ”yes yes” and she came back to the table to taste it. She tasted, I tasted. Yup it was meat.
So I went there to ask the guy what was up. I said in Swedish ”she doesn’t eat meat” and he answered bluntly also in Swedish ”well it’s a burger. What do you want me to do?” I took the menu and pointed the dish while saying ”no meat”. Then the guy started to yell at me that we should have told him, while he rushed to my friend to grab the dish from her. She is really sensitive and was crying while the waiter yelled at us before going back to the kitchen.
After a while he came back with a dry bun and vegan patty. No words (like ”sorry”), no smile. We ate, we paid, we left. I don’t know if the staff member / waiter / cheff(?) was having some personal bad day but this ruined ours also.
The crustacean salad is not very special but absolutely not bad and the prices are reasonable.
The Swedish crew is friendly but the boss is a grumpy jerk.
When the Swedish waiter asked me to come to the small kitchen corridor, where the beer fridge is, to point out what I meant with brown beer, (considered afterwards I meant dark beer) I opened it to show him a couple of bottles. Because most of the bottles have a brown colour, I couldn't see through the window of the refridgerator what beer was dark and what beer was blond.
I took some bottles to show him and then the (probably French) boss came out of the kitchen and before I had the chance to step aside to let him through, he growled "OUTSIDE!!" to me.
The Swedish waiter (who never drinks a drop of beer and knows nothing about this kind of beverage) said that it was his fault that I was showing him some bottles but the boss screamed something like "none of your or his business, he must outside!!!".
No more Restaurang Corsica for me.

The locomotives exhibited in the hangars made a particular impression on me - I was amazed that you could get a look at most of them from underneath and even step inside the locomotive cab, which made me feel like I was at the controls. The opportunity to see the locomotives from below was a fantastic idea. I highly recommend this place to railway enthusiasts and history buffs.

The indoor expedition is good, a lot of information and many locomotives and different cars. There is even a working cab to get the feeling how it is to use all the switches and knobs.
Sadly the exterior expedition is quite neglected. (The reason for 3 stars) A lot of trash laying around and everything is in general disarray.
Nice museum located in Luleå. I took my son there and he really enjoyed seeing the old trains and toy trains moving. We were also lucky to board the train for a short trip.
As a railway enthusiast and heritage railway volunteer in the UK I can appreciate the time and effort that goes in to maintain a museum of this size. The range of locomotives and rolling stock is impressive and the staff are great. Thank you for all your work producing a fabulous place to visit.
A must visit place for all train enthusiasts. They are open all days June to August. Always check their website for open times and the old train rides schedule.

Friendly folks at the neat Luleå library, in the most beautiful modern building in the city. Lots of light, good seating options including a beautiful view to the bay area. Free WiFi with your library card - just check at the front desk. However, I'd wish that the visitors would be told to turn down the buzz and their mobile phones - it gets irritating like CRAZY for sure. Shoot, a public area is not a private living room! There are no quiet areas anywhere in here either (but lots of open space so the noise from whatever events also comes right through).

Its was nice and fresh food. Like always typical max in Sweden. I got an original max burger and its was like expected. Chili cheese and chicken wings were also delicious. When i get home by buss, with a cola paper cup. The cola was pooring from the bottom. I dont know if its a problem with the paper cup or not. It took 20 min from max to my apartment. So watch out the paper cup bottom!!

Temporary activity starting in January/February of every year until the ice starts to melt. There is around 10 km of ice track, that is cleared from snow. Most time there are two "streets" parallel, one is completely clear to skate or use one of the free kick sleighs waiting on the sides and the other is with a bit of snow, so you can walk there even without spikes. The ice thickness is checked regularly by the city.

It's one of the most amazing place in which I have ever been. It is an ice road "built" on the sea around Luleå, opened from January/February to April, depending on the weather conditions. The Luleå municipality keeps care of it, cleaning it from the snow and smoothing the ice. It also organize a lot of events on the ice, for example an ice skating competition, dog sledge tours and BBQ on the ice!
On the ice road you can do ice skating (sometimes you can borrow the ice skates in the southern Harbour), have a BBQ, use the sledges (provided by the city) or just walk towards the small island of Gråsjälören (in the weekends there is a small waffle house on the island, where you can warm yourself having a waffle or a reindeer meat sausage with a warm cup of coffee/tea), just ten minutes from the southern Harbour be foot.
I really suggest to visit the Isbanan in Luleå, it's something that everyone should try in its life!
And by the way, the ice road is a good place where to spot the Northern Lights and live them in their entire power!

I totally recommend doing the kayaking course with Hiking the North! I joined the green kayaking course over the weekend, which ended with the paddle pass examination, and it was such a wonderful experience. The whole weekend was full of fun, time out on the water with great people, and high-quality practice. I learned so much more than I expected – from the basics about equipment to different paddling strokes and rescue techniques. The group was small (4 people and 2 instructors) and everyone had enough time to ask questions, get valuable feedback and practice what they needed most. Short theoretical introduction was followed by many intense hours of practice on the water - with many fika breaks of course!
Thanks to the course, I now feel much more confident in a kayak and well-prepared for touring on my own. Henrik and Mikael were fantastic instructors – knowledgeable, patient, confident and able to share their expertise in a way that was both effective and really enjoyable.
I’m very grateful for this experience and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn kayaking in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Thank you so much for the unforgettable adventures! Starting with snowshoes, whatching reindeer, enjoying the delicious lunch and finaly drilling holes in the ice and go fishing. What an amazing day :)

One-Night Stay at Best Western Plus Hotel.
This hotel is clean and has a pleasant atmosphere. It is well located, with a parking area in front of the building.
During our stay, the weather was very hot, and unfortunately, the air conditioning was not strong enough to keep the rooms cool. Our room for two people was quite small. However, there were some nice touches, such as complimentary hair conditioner and body lotion.
We enjoyed the spa, which had two jacuzzis. Unfortunately, the sauna was out of order, as was one of the special showers. In the spa area, there were bottles of hair conditioner, body lotion, and shower gel, but all of them were empty.
The burger and fries we had for dinner were soaking in oil.
At breakfast, the fish and meat platters were placed in a warm area. I didn’t feel comfortable eating warm fish.
Otherwise, the breakfast was acceptable.
Sadly I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel stay wasn't good at all. My hotel room was very worn out and wasn't clean properly. I found bunch black hair on the bed sheets and on the pillow. Music coming from the bar downstairs didn't help me to sleep well either.

A stay that will be one of our best memories 🥰 While on our honeymoon in Sweden, we wanted to relax in a nice and cosy place in Luleå after a 7-days hike in the Kungsleden. We told that to the staff when we booked a Superior Room. But on the day we arrived, the lady at the reception told us that they offered us to be upgraded to the Suite ✨️ It was such a wonderful present. We are so grateful for this surprise and all the romantic details that were arranged in our room. The Suite is beautiful, the view stunning, and the private bathroom has both a sauna and a bathtub. The breakfast is wonderful and delicious as well. The location is perfect to visit Luleå. By the way, we loved the city as well. Moreover: one of us had a bad fall before our arrival, and the reception kindly helped us to find a hospital and to explain how to get there, which was very useful and thoughtful. Everyone in the staff was lovely. We are grateful for everything, thank you so much, tack! ❤🙏

As far as breakfast (food) is concerned, as good as in any Best Western.
Although a new building, the room wasn't very clean (stained carpet and spot on a table) but the bathroom was to be fair. No view on anything at the back but that's not a particularly pretty city center either (looks like your average US, Alaskan, Canadian or Russian town). That's not on the hotel. "Midnight sun" gives some light.
Prices are reasonable as it is still a new comfortable hotel.
Easy and cheap parking in front of the hotel, perfect. I noticed there is also an indoor parking (entrance is at the back) but it was not proposed by reception. Maybe limited in car size or number ? Useful for winter.

Popular café and lunch spot, in the 'very first' (=old) shopping mall in Luleå! They've got espresso (even though very bitter to my taste and I do like strong espresso), latté and lunch offerings and nice interior but when it gets crowded, it gets noisy in a way that can be a real pain. Skip the lunch rush and your experience should be a lot better. Free wifi through the mall wireless net, good signal.

I had the pleasure of dining at Kazoku, a Japanese restaurant, and was thoroughly impressed. On my visit, I observed that the service was exceptional and quick, with friendly staff members who showed great respect for the pandemic guidelines. The establishment was impeccably clean, further demonstrating their commitment to safety. As for the food itself, it exceeded my expectations and provided an enjoyable experience. This Sushi restaurant didn't seem so special at first sight. But I must say that when the food came on those "plates" my eyes was satisfied and when I then tasted the dishes I've ordered I was just glad. It was very good served for my eyes and even better done for my mouth.
If you wanna eat here during weekend I would recommend you to make a reservation because it was full the whole time.

Went here for lunch on a workday. It was super crowded and we had to share our table with some strangers who just wanted to enjoy their lunch-break - food, connecting people.
We ordered the poké bowl and had some salad and miso soup from the lunch buffet for starters. It was great, the poké bowl was either with salmon or with tofu. Super fresh, well balanced meal. It was enough to feed our growling stomachs but did not leave us overstuffed. Perfect base for our exploration of Luleå.
Come and eat here if you have the opportunity. Do not be afraid to ask strangers to sit together. It’s really cozy and comfy and surprisingly not as expensive as I would have thought it to be.

They have absolutely tasty food. But if you want it hot, you have to tell them you want it "Thai hot", and confirm. The "spicy" (max level they ask you when taking order) is not very hot in my opinion. I haven't tried medium and mild, but I assume I wouldn't feel anything.
Regarding heat, what I noticed when we ask for "Thai hot" food, the strength is very random. Sometimes it's perfect - super hot that is just bearable and gives you a dazed chili high. Other times it's so hot that you need to lack pain receptors to eat it as they put a bunch of big chillis in your meal (that you accidentally bite into...), which makes me wonder if they are messing with us. I don't know? 😁 At least we get what we ask for, which might not be true about all places. 😅
So far I ate everything and did not get sick. 😊
Overall, they have really good food and are the perfect place to foster your spice tolerance, just make it clear for them if that's what you want.
In my photo you can see a modified version of Szechuan chicken that does not contain gluten (sauce and chicken ingredient might differ), and it was supposed to be "Thai hot" level takeaway. You can see that there are a large amount of chili seeds, and the heat level was absolutely perfect.
Sadly, I don't have a pic of the one that finally challenged my heat tolerance, but I assure you that we destroyed it. Alas, I had to do it in two parts because they give big portions and I drink a lot of water. 😂
