Cochem Castle, also known as Reichsburg Cochem, is a stunning 11th-century hill-top castle offering panoramic views of the town and the Moselle River. Although much of the original structure was destroyed in the 17th century, it was meticulously restored to its former glory in the 19th century. Perched on a vineyard-covered hilltop, this iconic landmark is considered one of Germany's most beautiful castles.
Beautiful piece of architecture decorating the town. Nice local attraction with a coffee and observation terrace. Fantastic tour guide. I was wishing for more spaces to be available in the castle. Perhaps exposition is only 30% of the possible area. Still very beautiful and worth the visit.
Egle K — Google review
Delightful, Incredible views. Enjoyable food in restaurant, but extremely busy. Recommend going on the tour inside the castle. A Lovely well-spoken young lady and most fascinating and spectacular views and history of the castle. A Absolute must for any tourist.
Emelia W — Google review
Wonderful mix of history and culture. It is truly beautiful! The only downside is that there’s no parking on-site — you have to park about 10–15 minutes away. It was quite a challenge with young children because of the long walk.

A Nice place to visit with friends. I was new in this place but I can find my way easily with the help of google map, or just go with the flow where people are heading. You can walk to the castle or you can ride the local bus. There is also a restaurant near the base of the castle where I order an Eisschokolade which is very delicious.
Joylyn S — Google review
Small but beautiful castle. They offer tours in English and German, for a reasonable price. You can only tour the castle with a tour guide. Great views. Definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful place to visit and nearby from Frankfurt. 3 hrs journey by train. Good place to hangout during weekends. The place has a vibe and lots of visitors. The streets are nice that leads to the castle and the view from top is wonderful. Must visit !
Vivek V — Google review
Love this place. I visited in the month of October , fall season added to the beauty of this place. The promenade and shops around it make the experience lively and full of warmth. In the market town you can have a taste of seasonal Federwein/ Federweißer and other forms were also available.Took guided tour to the castle which is not so far from the bahnhof (train station). There is also option to hike to the castle or go by bus.

Cochem Castle is a stunning hilltop fortress offering magnificent views over the charming town of Cochem and the Moselle River. The castle features fairy-tale towers, medieval architecture, and beautifully restored interiors that reflect its rich history. Visitors can join guided tours to explore its grand halls, period furnishings, and fascinating artifacts. From the castle’s terraces, panoramic vistas of the surrounding vineyards, river bends, and half-timbered houses make it one of the most picturesque landmarks in the Moselle Valley.

After a wonderful visit to the Cochem Castle, a rest is well needed at the Gelateria Fratelli Bortolot. Wonderful ideas with a very innovative menu, especially the Spaghetti ones; excellent service and wonderful atmosphere. It's a must visit. Don't forget to try the Spaghetti Nero Di Seppia. Enjoy...

Perfect place to beat the heat with several choices of ice creams, Gelato, shakes, and what not. We order a cappuccino, a Latte, and kiwi bowl with 4 kinds of icecreams. Service was great, and our order came out quickly. The spot is awesome to enjoy picturistic views, and enjoy light breeze coming from the river. Overall, a great place to visit and enjoy your sweet delights.

Cafe
Coffee shop
Café Flair, located along the Moselle promenade, offers a quaint and old-fashioned ambiance. The ice cream sundaes come with colorful umbrellas, coffee is served in small pots, and the staff even wear traditional white aprons. While prices are on the higher side, it's still a decent spot for a coffee break during a city stroll.
Cosy place for good latte macchiato, apple pie and a Johannisbeer-Baiser meringue pie. Staff was a bit rude when i wanted to pay with card. Toilets are one level up which is difficult for the many older turists visiting this little town.
Leo B — Google review
Cute place! Good for a quick coffee and pastry break. We just went in because i wanted to try the strawberry cream puff i saw on their glass display. Food and service were so-so but the ambience kinda made up for it.
Clar A — Google review
A tourist trap on the river. We entered from the back unaware that it fronted onto the river. You order your cake at the counter, you receive a little slip of paper. Take it to your table, give it to the waitress and order your drinks. The cake was a decent size but nothing special. We ordered a beer and a coke as well and the bill came to about 25€. We didn’t see signs saying cash only and luckily had enough on us. Other people were having to leave their partners behind whilst they went in search of a cash machine. Toilets are upstairs and are nice enough. One member of say was sat eating lunch whilst another stood talking to her very loudly. We struggled to get staff attention to pay our bill. Had we realised it fronted onto the river we wouldn’t have gone as we would have realised it would be very expensive
Deb L — Google review
The pastries are delicious, we enjoyed our coffees we sat on the balcony upstairs. I would certainly come back here ☺️ cute and cozy place.

We paid 14.95eu for this slice of toast with a few tiny sausages. Sold as bread and sausage, technically correct, but an insult to both my wallet and my still empty stomach. The single leaf of lettuce is just adding insult to injury

Nice cafe next to the river. We had the Chocolate Sunday and a Hot Chocolate and it was wonderful. Its very crowded though on a Weekend and on a holiday, so you might have to wait. But your wait will be worth it.

Cochem Market Square

Historical landmark
Marktplatz in Cochem is a charming square lined with traditional German buildings, offering a glimpse into the old-world allure of the village. While some eateries may be overpriced, enjoying a glass of wine in the square is a must-do for visitors. The area exudes calm and peaceful vibes, with numerous biergartens, ice cream parlors, and local shops creating a delightful atmosphere.
The historic town of Cochem, German is a gorgeous, old, winery town on the Mosel river. It has a castle as well, on the hill, called Reichsberg Cochem castle that is absolutely lovely. It is a town of only about 5,000 people, but it is well worth seeing. Settled during Celtic and Roman times, it has been here from at least 866 AD. It has been an imperial estate, hit by the plague, had a monastery, was occupied by the French, besieged multiple times, given to Prussia, bombed in WW2 and was once used as housing for officers for a nearby concentration camp of 13,000 prisoners. It is a wine district and has lovely vineyards up the valley slope. The markplatz square is gorgeous with its intricately decorated buildings. There were lovely flowers blooming in baskets hanging from windows and a fountain gurgling of St. Martin atop his horse, cutting his cloak to give to a man in need. The views from the castle are spectacular.

A very nice and chill place for visiting or spending time at weekend. Most of the people are nice and polite. One star minus because we got spitted by a 25yr up woman who just walked by us. I don’t believe it could still happen in 2025.

Cochem market square is medieval style square authentically restored after WW2. One of the most charming little towns in this part of Germany. Spend some time exploring narrow maze of streets of half-timbered houses. As a touristic destination the town was known by 1st quarter of 20th century after completion of Moselle bridge. Presence of Reichsburg castle solidified visitors’ attraction.
Mike Z — Google review
Cochem’s Market Square (Marktplatz) is a delightful blend of history, architecture, and vibrant local life. Nestled in the heart of the old town, it’s a must-visit spot for anyone exploring this charming Moselle River town. The square is surrounded by beautifully preserved half-timbered houses, some dating back to the 17th century, showcasing the region’s traditional architecture . At its center stands the Saint Martin’s Fountain (Martinsbrunnen), featuring a bronze statue from 1935 depicting St. Martin sharing his cloak with a beggar—a symbol of generosity and compassion . Dominating the square is the historic town hall, constructed in 1739 after the original building was destroyed in 1689. Its Baroque façade and mansard roof add to the square’s picturesque ambiance . The Market Square isn’t just about history; it’s a lively hub filled with quaint shops, inviting cafes, and local eateries. Whether you’re sipping a coffee, enjoying a regional dish, or simply people-watching, the square offers a perfect spot to relax and soak in the atmosphere. Throughout the year, the square hosts various events, including markets and festivals, adding to its vibrant character. It’s also a great starting point for exploring Cochem’s other attractions, like the nearby Reichsburg Castle. In summary, Cochem’s Market Square is a captivating blend of the past and present, offering visitors a glimpse into the town’s rich heritage while providing a lively setting to enjoy the local culture.

Zom Stüffje is a 1642 tavern located in Cochem, Germany, offering classic German cuisine and wine from the Rheinland-Pfalz region. The restaurant's historic ambiance with stained-glass windows creates a cozy and authentic atmosphere for enjoying a delicious meal paired with local wine. Visitors can expect exceptional service, as the owner goes above and beyond to accommodate guests, making their experience even more special.
We were on a river cruise and decided to have dinner in Cochem. They kindly accommodated the 8 of us without a reservation. The wait staff was as amazing as the food. We all ordered something different, and all loved our dinner. It was well-cooked and flavorful. Dennis was a great host. So glad we found this place in one of the oldest houses in town. We all can't stop talking about how good it was.

We came with our 2 teenagers after a very wet and soggy day and they could find a table for us without a reservation despite being very full we were so grateful. The Flamkuchen was 🤌🏽🤌🏽 demolished in 2 mins flat and all the other food was hearty and yummy. Loved it thanks so much!

Neat old building with authentic German food. They were aware of what gluten free was and offered suggestions which was really appreciated! My partner loved the schnitzel with mushrooms though I personally didn’t love my meat as it tasted similar to bologna which is just a personal preference. Really neat to try regionally authentic food nonetheless! Potatoes were delicious.

Hidden Gem with Delicious German Cuisine" We enjoyed a delicious, authentic German meal here. It's the only place in the area with such a high rating — and it's well deserved. The restaurant is not the easiest to find, but it's absolutely worth the effort. If you're into fancy, upscale dining, this might not be the place for you. But if you appreciate good, flavorful food, the location won't matter. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. One tip: check the opening hours and arrive early, as seating is limited and it fills up quickly.
Ingra D — Google review
Fabulous food and incredible atmosphere. Both the steak and the schnitzel were excellent. Really good value. Came early to get a table without much of a wait.
Nick L — Google review
Schnitzel and other meals we had were excellent. German atmosphere took our hearts. Service was quick but we did not feel we should rush. Very popular place and we understand why.
Marjuli 1 — Google review
Based on reviews we made a reservation and lucky we did as the restaurant was full. We wanted to order some foods that originated in the area, but in hindsight probably should have ordered the schnitzel like we saw most others had chosen. Our meals were ok, but not something we would return for - we had the 300g Metzgerfrikadelle mit Zwiebeln, a meatball with onions and fried potatoes (€12.80) and Moselwinzerröllchen which was Pork roulade filled with minced meat, cheese, and diced bacon, served with fried potatoes for €14.50. The interior was authentically decorated, atmosphere was great and the service was fantastic. Despite it being very busy the two servers took the time to make us feel welcome and wait times were minimal.

Food and drinks were good again but service was subpar. I would say they were busy but both waiters only put focus on a couple tables, not sure why. 3-4 tables were left unattended without food for well over 15 minutes. I ordered another drink and never received it.

We stayed in the hotel. Awesome rooms. And ate at the restaurant twice during our stay. Great pizza and pasta. We speak some german and were able to communicate pretty well. There is a definate lack of english in Cochem. Just a warning. You need to have some deustch to get around here. We loved the proprierter and the whole staff at the restaurant and hotel!!! Such great service. Delicious food, great service great room and great prices for the area. Some of the restaurants we went to were so much worse than here, and way more expensive. This is a tourist trap city, for sure!! But we can't recommend this place enough. Great place in a great area!

Lovely pizza, and a chicken salad was ordered. The chicken was lovely till a live beetle was found in the salad. This was disappointing and a replacement meal was arranged. However we had to still pay for the original salad. A dinner for two we had to eat separately and still pay for. The manager had not the decency to sort this and left it to the lovely waitress who was beside herself was clearly under pressure by her boss. I felt the was very bad customer service that I felt strongly about to put this review. The manager should have acted on not left this to his waitress.

This charming eatery boasts an extensive Italian menu that is sure to tantalize your taste buds. Diners rave about the delicious offerings, from mouthwatering mozzarella pizza to rich carbonara and hearty chops. The service here is exceptional; the staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring that your dining experience flows seamlessly.
5/5 ⭐️ Great experience. The waiter we had, the only person we had direct contact with when we went- was really sweet and made our experience there super smooth. He was kind enough to explain to us certain items on the menu as we do not speak German and most of the menu was in German. He was very patient with us and patient, which is widely appreciated nowadays. The food was delicious, I got the mozzarella pizza and loved it so much. It tasted great, the cheese was 10/10 and so was the dough. Everyone at the table was pretty satisfied with their food except for the seafood pizza which was apparently too salty. Aside from that, the creamy penne my cousin took were absolutely delicious. The salads were great too. All that to say, you'll pay a very reasonable price and end up satisfied! + Place looked clean and neat, cute atmosphere and decors. Bathrooms were very clean as well. Would totally recommend!!!

Pretty decent for a bistro in a tourist town. Staff were very very helpful and recommend a good dish. Prices were reasonable and there was little wait for food or service. Food wasn't going to win any awards but was honest and freshly cooked. All and all I would go again if in the area.

We had a great experience at Bistro am Brunnen in Cochem. The food was absolutely delicious, with a wide and varied Italian menu to choose from. Service was both friendly and very efficient, making the whole evening run smoothly. We sat outside on the terrace and really enjoyed the beautiful weather, it was perfect. Inside, however, the atmosphere felt a bit plain and lacked a unique or cozy touch. It would be nice if the interior could match the same high quality as the excellent food. Overall, though, the prices were very fair and the food more than made up for the simple décor inside. With its great location and quality food, this is truly one of the best places to eat in Cochem: definitely worth a visit!

The hostess made us feel very welcome as soon as we came in. We loved the vibe here as the staff was clearly having a good time, laughing and chatting in the kitchen. Pizzas were served with a big smile. Surely the place could use some ambiance as it seemed a little plain but the kindness and the good food made up for it. Also we found it to be rather cheap. The two of us could eat there for under €50. Bring cash as this is the only way to pay.

Parks
Wild- und Freizeitpark Klotten is a wildlife park featuring European animals and birds of prey, as well as thrill and family rides. Visitors can enjoy puppet theater shows and river cruises along the Mosel River. The park offers a variety of animals such as bears, raccoons, deer, emus, pigs, boars, goats, birds, and ostriches in mountain and forest habitats. There are also two birds of prey shows and attractions for kids.
A Perfect Family Day Out at Wild- & Freizeitpark Klotten! I recently visited Wild- & Freizeitpark Klotten with my family, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. This park offers a perfect blend of nature, wildlife, and thrilling attractions that cater to all ages. The animal exhibits are well-maintained, and it's clear that the animals are well cared for. We particularly enjoyed the up-close encounters with various species, and it was a joy to see how much effort the park puts into educating visitors about wildlife conservation. The amusement rides were an unexpected highlight, providing excitement for both kids and adults. The roller coasters and water rides were a big hit with our group, and we appreciated that the lines were short, allowing us to enjoy the attractions multiple times. The park itself is beautifully situated with scenic views of the surrounding area, making it a pleasure to walk around. The facilities were clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful, adding to the overall positive experience. Overall, Wild- & Freizeitpark Klotten is a fantastic destination for a family day out. Whether you're there for the animals, the rides, or just to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, this park has something for everyone. We’ll definitely be returning on our next trip to the region!

Wild- und Freizeitpark Klotten/Cochem is a mix between a Zoo and a theme park. The animal collection here is nice, although I only came for the rides. The park‘s three main attractions, Heisse Fahrt, Kunibert‘s Abenteuer and Zum Rittersturz are all build on top of each other, which looks cool. These rides are all really fun, with Heisse Fahrt being one of Germany’s best family coasters. The location of this park is stunning, since you get fantastic views over the Mosel valley. The pricing is also very fair, and staff was visit. On my visit, none of the rides had a line, so I had a blast.

Main rides were great. Around 3pm we rode the coaster and went straight to the wildwasserbahn, unfortunately it closed early a little after 3. A lot of animals to see.

Fantastic animal park with a lot of attractions, for small and medium childs. A lots of animals and very nice atmosphere. There are also a few shows to visit. Price for an adult 29,50€ Kids under one meter are free (09/23) Absolutely Great

Have been visiting this park for years. Each year it continues to grow with new rides and it is awesome to be able to feed various animals including bears. Be sure to bring 1,00 euro coins with you as most of the animal food dispensers only take 1,00 euro coins. 2025 Update: Just got done with our annual visit to this amazing park. They continue to expand, and there are still many animals that can be feed. Make sure to bring 1.00 and 2.00 euro coins with you, if you want to feed the animals. I highly recommend a visit to this park.

Very well organised and clean place for spending a day with the family. The park combines a zoo spread over a big piece of land with an amusement park with several nice attractions. There is a restaurant inside also and you can see some shows inside involving vultures or nourishing different animals.

It’s a wonderful park to visit with many children. There are a bunch of animals, many of which you can feed, and rollercoasters that aren’t very crowded, so you can ride them several times. Most of the staff is very friendly as well! Definitely worth a visit.
Evooona — Google review
Fun rides for the kids, plus animals to feed and pet. Cochem is really a wonderland for adults, so this park offers a nice side trip for the kids. About 4 hours to do everything. The water rides were great, with the giant log ride being the biggest landmark in the park. The green roller coaster was not too crazy, no loops or anything, but it was really fun. Kids area rides, puppet shows, falconry demonstrations, food stands. Great views from out front and from the falcon area.

Indoor swimming pool
Moselbad Cochem offers a variety of pools, including indoor and outdoor options, making it a great destination for families and class trips. The Edelsteinmuseum showcases sparkling gemstones from around the world, providing an interesting indoor activity option. While some visitors find the facilities to be slightly outdated, they appreciate the cleanliness and separate areas for men and women.
Very cool swimming pool and not expensive at all! The swimming pool is build up against a hill, so the different pools are on different levels. One of the outside pools was open (end of October), which was really nice; it was heated and had a view at the Mountain, giving a very luxurious feeling :). Several slides. Many options for children, especially for very small children. Nice showers. Free parking. Option to pay entrance fee for 2 hours, 3 hours or the whole day. You can buy a family card to make it even cheaper. Very friendly prices!
Miranda — Google review
Only went to the outside area, the inside pool requires a different ticket. Prices are very reasonable, food is a on the steep side for the quality. Showers are great, but the dressing cabins don’t all have working locks. Overall, the place is not the most modern pool however well maintained. The view and amount of swimming areas are fabulous! Do bring some footwear as the tiles can be quite sharp in some areas.
Joost — Google review
Beware: there are two pools with separate tickets! Inside and outside. The pool is very large and the baby/child area was amazing. Very large, warm, diverse. Just perfect.
Tom S — Google review
This is a great pool. Not sure why the poor reviews. We enjoyed it very much. The indoor orange flume and yellow slide were winners with me and my daughter. It's a bit old and outdated but it was clean, well priced and the staff were friendly. Maybe us Brits just have low standards but if we had that pool in the UK it would be very popular. We chose indoor over outdoor. You can't do both.
Robert B — Google review
This place is so run down and needs some serious maintenance. The children’s pool is not in use with no notice before you buy your tickets. There is no play area. The water is cold. Such a disappointment and a waste of money.
VL S — Google review
Absolutely loved this pool. Lots of lawn to hang out on. Nice lap pool and diving boards. The little one said the slide was fun too!
Tricia K — Google review
Not a big fan of the hourly price...it was seven of us we paid 34€ for two hours which basically is one and a half hours because of the kids having to get showered. However its a very nice pool and my children enjoyed every moment being there. Favorite was the long slide and the waves. Would definitely recommend! Worth a visit.

Beautiful cafe at the top of a hill overlooking the town of Cochem and the castle. You can get a ticket at the bottom of the hill to ride the Sesselbahn up. On the way up you have a photo opportunity, the machine is near the exit. The cafe is very large with a lot of drink and snack options. Indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating offers beautiful views. Friendly service and decent prices.

Tough not to stop at this place given the spectacular views, but places like this can go one of two ways: a truly spectacular experience worth going out of the way for, or a mediocre spot that leans on its view and being the only option in the area. Unfortunately, this spot felt like the latter. Not saying it was bad, it was just fine. Prices weren’t overly steep for the view. The food was ok. Would’ve like a few more beer options. So I wouldn’t say go out of your way for it, but not the worst place to stop for a drink or lunch if you go up the mountain. Btw- we were there in late October. Outdoor seating was minimally covered and not heated.
Kevin M — Google review
Food quality is too poor. We took Jäger Schnitzel. The meat was too hard. Too much salt in the fries... and salad seems to be cut long ago
Arpan G — Google review
Rude, rude and rude; if I could give zero for service I would. The food was ok, but don’t get there expecting to pay by card unless you spend over 30 Euros - they won’t accept it. We wanted coffee and cake, but had to buy a couple of beers as well as we didn’t see the tiny hand-written sign explaining about no cards under €30. The view is great, but what a monopoly this place has at the top of the chairlift - and don’t they exploit it. Avoid.

The Sesselbahn-Terrassen-Café in Cochem offers a truly beautiful view once you get to the top. Unfortunately, the experience was a bit disappointing. This is the only café on the mountain, and they only accept cash. Luckily, we had just enough with us. Prices are very high, clearly taking advantage of the location and the fact that they are the only place to rest and drink/eat something. We paid over €30 for two small pizzas (not great, but acceptable) and two soft drinks. Service was not particularly friendly, more businesslike than welcoming. Inside, the atmosphere is not very cozy or stylish. The terrace outside is nice, but more than half of the seating is in full sun with no option for shade. On a hot day like our visit (31°C), it was uncomfortable, especially after a long and exhausting hike. The view is worth it, but make sure to bring enough cash and be prepared for steep prices.
Jordi D — Google review
Prices of drinks way too high. Price for some food is ok'ish, for the only restaurant at the mountain top (flammkuchen is ok, bratwurst with fries and salad also) but for others (toast and soup) it's outrageous.

Hotel Hegenbarth´s is a charming spa hotel located in the suburbs of Cochem, offering relaxed rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi and breakfast. The historic building from 1892 houses well-equipped rooms and a cozy restaurant with river views. Guests can pamper themselves at the on-site spa offering massages and body treatments, or enjoy recreational activities such as sauna and bicycle rentals. The hotel also features free parking, a small fitness room, and friendly staff dedicated to providing excellent service.
We came all the way from America for our honeymoon, this place is amazing. They upgraded us to their new apartment over looking the castle and water and city center. Not only was the view amazing but the service with everybody was phenomenal. We had dinner in their restaurant and the food was top notch. Their breakfast was amazing all the choices you get. And my husband german isn't great but they were super quick to switch to English for us. I absolutely would recommend staying here. It's a 12 min journey to the castle and about 5 mins to city center. Everything is so close and easy to get to. When we venture back to Germany for vacation we will definitely be back to stay here. Everything was so wonderful.

Modern hotel with exquisite service. The restaurant is accommodating with great food. The breakfast included with the room fee is among the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. The only caveat to staying here is that it’s about a 15 minute walk to the Cochem town square, and some of the walk is along a steep incline. We did not try taxi service, but public transportation in Cochem is sparse, so be ready to walk. Views from our 3rd story room were breathtaking.

We stayed only in the restaurant of Hotel Hegenbarth during our single daytrip in Cochem. The meals were very well prepared and very tasty. Compliments to the chef and the kitchen! Also the service was good and very friendly. From the restaurant, there is a nice view on the river and the valley. Also parking lots available close to the restaurant. We recommend this restaurant!

So far we’ve had a great time, staff is super friendly and waited for us to check-in later (around 10:30pm). There’s plenty of parking spaces. Breakfasts are the highlight, great options & love the eggs on request so it comes out fresh, not many places do this, so its definitely a plus! Our room is clean and has a great view! Only thing that could be improved is the communication via booking.com/email/phone, due to our later check-in, I tried to reach the hotel via booking.com, email & phone and no response.

Historische Senfmühle Dehren GmbH is a must-see attraction in the town, being one of the oldest mustard mills globally and still operational since the 15th century. Visitors can explore the grounds, learn about its history and production process, and even taste various delicious mustard flavors. The mill offers an array of mustards, marmalades, and even mustard schnapps for tasting.
They have a wide variety of mustards and dips to sample and purchase. There are also sausages with your choice of mustard for 2.50€. The tour is once a day at 4pm. The workers are courteous and encourage you to try a wide variety of samples. This place is worth a quick stop for 30 or so minutes. Enjoy!

Let's start out with I had high hopes for this place. It was highly recommended and we drove two hours to visit it. Upon arrival we had roughly 30 minutes to see everything due to them closing and us running into traffi. We were greeted by an individual who didn't even say hello just a what do you want we are closing. We tried to talk a bit regarding the mustard and process and asked if we could try some. After giving a long sigh he allowed us to try some of the flavors before us choosing. Now for the mustard. The original is my favorite while the other flavors I had were more of a mustard which then they added spices. To me I thought it would have more of a unique taste or something different from just added spice. They do accept card and the mustard is around 7 euro. Now for the review. This place just from the staff alone. I would have to give it a 2 out of 10 on that 🔥 scale. The location is very beautiful and good walking distance to the downtown area.

A lovely mustard museum near the Moselle river, Cochem. Well worth the visit if you are in the area. Had the opportunity to sample the many mustards before purchasing. Very tasty indeed! Other products available to purchase if mustard is not your thing.

It's a shop with hardly anything out on display. I guess you can only do so many varieties of mustard. Anyway, we walked in, did the circumference in about 1.5 minutes, and walked out. I'm not really sure why this place has the possibility to review it.
Chris C — Google review
Not many words required for this place: Mustards and sausages. Many mustards available in different flavours, home made by the still in use mill. You pay a price for it, around €7,80 for a 250ml jar. Too much in my opinion, but yes, many tourists will buy it anyways. Oh yes, you can do some tasting as well.
Sander V — Google review
Just tried the sausage and a mustard of your choice for 2,50 offer. We really enjoyed it. Of course, some mustard flavors won‘t fit everyones preference. But the sausage was really good. While my favorite was the historic mustard, my +1 preferred the garlic mustard - a bit too intense for me.

Cochemer Sesselbahn Talstation is a chairlift that takes visitors from the lower station in Endert Valley to the Pinnerkreuz lookout point, 255 meters above sea level. The chairlift offers stunning views of Cochem, the Moselle River loop, and the vine-covered valley walls. It has been operational since 1955 and provides a quick way to reach the top of the hill north of town for those who prefer not to hike.
Very cool experience of getting to the top of Moselle gorge mountain and be able to hike around to various viewpoints without wasting precious time going up and down. Employees are genuinely helpful buying tickets and safely getting into the seat. Some people buy only one way trip, so there was a small line to ascend and no lines to go down.

Without a doubt, the most popular attraction in the town of Cochem is Cochem Castle, also known as Reichsburg Castle. This historical site has a rich history dating back over 1,000 years and was once the residence of knights and members of royal families. Positioned majestically on a hilltop, this impressive structure offers various tours and activities for its visitors. In addition to its captivating history, Cochem Castle provides breathtaking views of the town below.
Stopped in here during the evening. It definitely got busier as the night went on and we ended up meeting a wonderful group of people. The atmosphere was great and the bartender and server both spoke English and we're very helpful. It is cash only but the drinks were very reasonably priced.

San Christobal is a Mexican restaurant situated in a charming stone building with an outdoor terrace. It offers a variety of mouthwatering dishes such as BBQ ribs, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and more. The establishment boasts comfortable indoor seating and an inviting garden for patrons to savor their meals al fresco. The staff is professional and cooperative, providing impeccable service at affordable prices.
We had a wonderful dinner at San Christobal! The only minor point was that the service was a little slow, but to be fair, it was quite busy when we arrived (around 7:15 pm). The food was absolutely delicious, and the background music together with the atmosphere made it a perfect setting. We’ll definitely be coming back the next time we’re in Cochem!
Brent V — Google review
During my week-long stay in Cochem, I made it a goal to try different restaurants each evening—some upscale, some more casual. One night, I decided to give San Christobal a shot. It’s marketed as a Mexican restaurant and holds a respectable 4.2-star rating, which gave me some hope, even though I wasn’t expecting authentic Mexican cuisine. Unfortunately, the food didn’t even meet basic expectations. The location is great, and the décor is inviting. The staff were friendly and welcoming. But the most important element—the food—was a letdown from start to finish. I started with a margarita and the chips and salsa platter. The margarita, advertised as a “classic,” came out frozen (not classic) and was completely bland—no real tequila taste, no citrus kick, just a tasteless slush. The chips and salsa platter came with three tiny bowls: one of nacho cheese, one of sour cream, and one of diced tomatoes pretending to be salsa. There was zero spice, no flavor complexity, and the chips were clearly store-bought. For the main, I went with the fajitas—usually a safe choice at European “Mexican” restaurants. What arrived was a soggy, soupy mess. While it didn’t taste awful, it lacked structure or balance. The meat and vegetables were swimming in so much liquid that by the end, I was left with a bowl of fajita-flavored water. It felt lazy and unrefined. To top it off, the menu was bloated with items that had little or nothing to do with Mexican food—further confirming this place leans heavily on aesthetics and friendliness, rather than delivering on the cuisine it claims to represent. In short: friendly staff and a nice setting don’t make up for disappointing, uninspired food. I wouldn’t recommend San Christobal if you’re looking for decent Mexican fare—even by European standards.
Brandon B — Google review
I visited San Christobal because of the appealing and afordable vegetarian options on their menu and I must say, they didn't disappoint. I went here with four friends, half of them vegetarian, and everyone loved it. We tried the vegetable enchilada's which were very rich and flavorful. The side salad however was drenched in it's overly sweet dressing. According to my non-vegan friend the vegan pulled beef sandwich tasted exactly like real meat. While I wouldn't call it authentic mexican food, for what your paying it is just delicious and flavorful food. The service wasn't very fast, we were sitting outside on the terras just out of sight of the restaurant, which made it difficult to call over servers. It also took quit a while for our food to arrive. The terras is located right next to a road, which kind of killed the atmosphere. Overall I would say, if you are looking for good and afordable food this is the place for you.
Lotte C — Google review
Good food and service. The burger and the enchilada’s were great and tasty. To much for us so we asked to take the other enchilada with us. Was no problem. But they forgot and trashed it. They promised a 50% discount on the enchilada (but had to ask for it at payment desk). Outside terras has a nice vibe!
Michael M — Google review
I absolutely loved their salmon dish, but my wife definitely did not enjoy her enchiladas. Their Avococo drink was pretty tasty, but nothing special. The salmon dish was so full of flavor that it absolutely blew my mind! If we just only had that, I’d give them a higher rating.
Martin B — Google review
Don't ask for the hot chocolate drink. A quarter of the mug has hot chocolate and the rest is whipped cream, which was bitter and not that nice. Paid €6 and the whipped cream made the hot chocolate cold. We politely raised this with the staff and they rudely told us that's how it comes, plus we had drunk some of it, so full price applies. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the price, the quality and the service made me angry and decided to warn others. Maybe they will learn from reviews left by customers.

Pinnercreuz (Pinner Cross) viewpoint offers stunning panorama of Mozelle valley, Cochem castle and town from Pinnerberg mountain. Cross was erected in memory of the shepherd who lost his life saving stray animal. There is a small hike from Sesselbahn arrival entry to cross location. Whole area is a good nature preserve where you can spend few hours enjoying hiking and river valley views.

Wonderful view from the top with Cross. You can get up there by small gondola for roundtrip is 7.9€ per person. After arrived need to walk a bit further to reach cross. Worth it for the view

Picturesque Cochem where I bought a traditional costume and went on a guided tour. Cable car and castle are also a must.

A easy hike to the top. A huge christian cross with led lights. Never get the chance to have lighted photo. I am sure it's awesome and heavenly. A stunning view from above.

Great view from the top. One way trekking is a good option to explore the place and have some good city views.
Prathamesh S — Google review
Well worth the 15 minute walk if you are fit (starts at chairlift car park). Why would anyone take the chairs? You'd have to be very unfit, lazy, or rich.
Chris C — Google review
Relatively easy hike and there is also an option for a chairlift. On top you also have a nice little Cafe. Views are amazing.

Having the spectacular view of the past-present and the landscape is something you don’t get to see everywhere! Stunning! Worth taking the cable car if you don’t have much time to hike to the top as you can park for free down if you use the cable car!

During my visit to Alte Wein Wirtschaft, I decided to try the Flammenkuche (Hirte) and opted for the larger size, which turned out to be just right. The overall experience was delightful; I particularly enjoyed the thin and flavorful dough that earned a solid four stars in my book. The first floor features cozy heating and charming decor, creating a warm atmosphere. However, I did feel that some items were slightly on the pricey side for Germany.
The Bratwurst was delicious. Lightly seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Cucumber salad accompanying was excellent and very welcome on a scorching day in Cochem. Service and atmosphere was very good.

We stopped here for a drink and a snack as we were walking around in the beautiful town of Cosem. The restaurant has a lot of charme with couple terrasses. I should have checked reviews before… overall food and drinks were ok, nothing special either, but service was abysmal. No hello back when you say hello. Steve was rude but thought it was German style. When time came to pay, it was only cash and the waiter showed his complete discontent when we gave him fifty euros for around thirty euros bill. He also decided to keep the small change without saying anything.

Generally share the sentiment of others here in that this place looked great and very promising from the outside, but felt lackluster once within. There were literally 2 beers on the menu. A few more wines. Lots of plastic wrapped pages of menu items. We contemplated getting some chips, but they didn’t look great so we changed our mind. In retrospect we should have chosen a place along the River.
Kevin M — Google review
A lovely restaurant with a very interesting interior. It’s cozy to sit on the second floor. They serve an amazing pork knuckle! The Mediterranean-style flammkuchen is also very tasty.
Olga D — Google review
The worst schnitzel I've ever had in my life. It was soaked in oil and tasted like it had been reheated in the oven (not freshly fried). I felt scammed when they asked me what salad I wanted to go with it, and in the end, I was charged for it, even though at other restaurants, the side salad comes with the schnitzel at no additional cost. My daughter ordered a steak, and the meat had the taste and texture of boiled meat that had only been seared beforehand. The place was full of bees, making it impossible to eat in peace. The staff only spoke German.
Renan R — Google review
Please please please do NOT visit this restaurant. The food, service and atmosphere is appalling. People of Cochem; this place lets you down on every level. Close it down, or find better (local) staff who care about service and reputation.
Mark B — Google review
Walking by, this was a very appealing restaurant, plenty of outdoor seating a lower and upper terrace. But, the food was not great. I ordered the baked potato with smoked salmon. It was a very small OVER baked potato with too much quark (sour cream). The salmon was thick and not good quality. I could only eat half of it and I was hungry. The beer wasn’t filled all the way to the top and the Hugo had old wilted mint leaves in it. Others at the table ordered schnitzel and thought it was okay.
Girl M — Google review
Very Well decorative bar/Restaurant with “wine” theme. Dispite this the service team not always the best. Not great experience with them as serveral requests were “ignored” because of no german speaking, and also making breaks and smoking on tables next to the customers ( that was the worst). Food quality is not the best as not even mushrooms were fresh so I would avoid to repeat the place. In the end You is NO THANK you !

Nestled in a charming setting, Restaurant zum Onkel Willi offers a taste of traditional regional cuisine and delectable cakes. The eatery features a vaulted cellar and a shaded courtyard, creating an inviting atmosphere for diners. Known for its finer take on typical German dishes, the restaurant is highly recommended by locals and visitors alike. It's not uncommon to find the place bustling with diners eager to savor the excellent food and enjoy the great atmosphere.
Fabulous real German cuisine Very lovely hard working staff Great wine & beer Left feeling full and happy at an affordable price. Highly recommended But reserve in advance Great family feel and no forced tacky decor.

We had dinner tonight at the restaurant. The food was great, the service during dinner as well, but we were unpleasantly surprised when we wanted to order dessert and they told us the kitchen was closed and the staff had left. We didn't take a lot of time for dinner, but started at 20.30 at their request, because they said they were fully booked before. Nobody asked us if we wanted to order dessert early or told us the kitchen was about to be closed. I just don't understand why you are in the business of servicing food to people and halfway through service decide that it's been enough for the night.

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last few years and it never fails to impress me. Kirsten the owner always makes you feel really welcome. Rooms are always Immaculate and location is brilliant. The restaurant is also first class. I will obviously be returning.

Please update your schedule to reflect that, like the French, you close your kitchen after lunch service. Drove to Cochem based on the good reviews and hours that stated you are open from 12 to 10 on Friday. Was told, in not so friendly a manner, the kitchen is closed from 2 to 5. Edit: Sept 21. In response to the owner, we were never offered anything, only told that the kitchen is closed. I went to your website and it focuses on your hotel not restaurant hours. But it's ok, we found a much nicer place with much more friendly people.
Mark L — Google review
We asked for a reservation for 19 but could only get it at 19:45, when we came the place was almost empty though. Service was slow and confused. When we ate, we were ignored for the better part of 30 minutes even though we wanted to order more to drink. When the personnel eventually showed up at 20:58 we were informed the kitchen had decided to close, so we wouldn't be able to order dessert. The food was OK, it was chanterelle season, so we mostly ordered from the seasonal menu.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner of authentic German food in a very nice setting. The service was good and the wine selection was comprehensive. This is a great place to taste the local cuisine and the local wine. Be sure to make a reservation as the locals know this restaurant is excellent!

Amazing gem that was recommended by owner of our accommodation, Villa Vie. (Also highly recommend this accommodation.) Definitely a must for a dinner when in Cochem. Bookings are highly recommend, as gets busy. We were very fortunate, no booking and were busy, but accommodated us with a cute table. Staff were fantastic. Menu's are in German and the staff don't speak a lot of English (their English was much better than my German) but were easy to understand and very helpful. Steak was amazing, best in Germany, so far. Very good prices.

Clean, affordable place to stay within walking distance from the old town. Great breakfast selection and restaurant! Family-owned establishment with a heart, we loved our stay here and left wanting more. Hope to stay here again! 100% would recommend.

One of the best meals we have ever had in Germany. Lovely friendly staff, excellent menu selection. We went for the 3 course menu of tomato soup, salad bowl, jagerschnitzel with chips followed by strawberry pannacotta with coulis. Huge portions, flavoursome and good value. They do accept debit cards. The restaurant soon filled up with locals which says something. Well recommended
Nicholas G — Google review
Lovely guest house/b&b. The host owners are some of the nicest people I have met in Germany. They try their very best to do what they can to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. The location is also close to attractions. Maybe a bit of a walk from the train station if it's a cold winter's day. Also for those that can't drink from the tap (tap water is safe to drink in Germany) and need to boil water, this guest house does not allow kettles in the guest rooms. Oh, and they don't really take credit cards. The breakfast they serve is really good. And the owners themselves make sure you have enough to eat. The schnitzel that is served in the restaurant (lunch/dinner) is also worth trying. I'd definitely recommend this guest house if you're planning on staying at Cochem. The hospitality alone makes the stay worthwhile.

Had dinner here one evening , a family run restaurant welcoming with a nice ambience . Small menu traditional but well cooked and well presented. The portions were good and value for money . The wife said tiramisu was the best she had tested. Booked a table for another night

We had a dinner here and the food was nice. Highly recommend the pork knuckle and the schnitzel with local wine. Reservation is usually needed - we dropped by at 3pm and the only available table for the night was at 5pm. We were happy about our choice.

We were so lucky to find this place. The schnitzel with the pepper sauce was the best that we have had.. You know you have entered a good restaurant when the locals are eating there. For desert try their icetorte. It is tons of nuts in iced cream to die for. The owner was extremly pleasant and helpful with the menu. They prefer cash. Food was not just good, it was excellent. huge portions too.

We went here for lunch on a recommendation, and are SO glad we did! The food was great, but the real stars are the lovely people who run the place. They were so friendly and warm and welcoming, and were so kind and patient with our 1.5 year old daughter who wanted to explore all during the meal. They treated her like she was their granddaughter, and it made us feel so welcome! We wish we had booked our room here, and we will definitely stay here for for future visits to Cochem!

Great value. The owners are intimately involved in this business. The food was very fresh and served hot. Great breakfast with fresh food! Keep in mind that credit cards aren’t accepted- just debit cards (although mine wouldn’t work). There is a parking structure right across street - cost is 8/day. Highly recommend!!!

Discover the hidden gem of Cochem, Germany by visiting the Bundesbank Bunker. This Cold War-era vault was designed to safeguard billions in currency from Germany's Central Bank. Disguised as a residential house, the entrance leads to a subterranean bunker that once held up to 15 billion Deutschmarks. The fear of hyperinflation due to counterfeit bills from Eastern Bloc countries led West Germany to establish this secret currency reserve.
The staff is very nice. It was my first bunker, so, it was an interesting experience for me, going around of the German history of the bunker and the city as well. Check for the schedule tour of the day before going there! There is a free audio guide in English and other languages, because the tours is available only in German.
Miguel B — Google review
We had a really weird experience here. When buying tickets they told us it was a tour in the German language only. Every few hours. They didn’t offer any other solution so I asked if there was an audio guide. In some twisted logic they didn’t think about that, but an English guide on your phone with an app was available. So we went for this option. The guy at the counter shows us the entry and of we go. We walked in and started the tour. After a while a guy came to get us and gave a lecture we were not supposed to be there alone. So we simply walked into a bunker that was a few years ago the most secured place in the area. He escorted us out en we needed to wait for the next tour in … German. The app by far does not provide as much detail so that’s a pitty. You also need to listen to it while the guide explains. Not ideal. If you have seen a lot of bunkers it’s not so special. The story is unique.
Matthias T — Google review
I’ll be blunt: I want 45 minutes of my life back. The Bundesbankbunker sounds intriguing on paper—a Cold War-era secret money stash hidden beneath a picturesque town. In reality, it’s a brief and underwhelming experience dragged out far longer than necessary. The tour is only in German, and while other languages are supported via phone-based audio or QR codes, the actual content amounts to about 10 minutes of listening at best. The rest is filler and waiting. The bunker itself is small. It’s certainly a cool concept and a neat piece of history, but not impressive by any stretch. You’ll see a hallway, a sleeping area, a tiny workspace, a bathroom, a small kitchen, the vault, and 60 safety deposit boxes—then you’re done. Realistically, you can see everything in 15 minutes. The other 45+ minutes (plus waiting time) feel like wasted life. There’s no need for a guided experience here. It would be far more efficient as a self-guided walk-through with some displays or signage. As it stands, it’s just not worth the time. Bottom line: If you’re already in Cochem and have literally nothing else to do, maybe. But do not go out of your way for this. Definitely don’t plan your day around it.
Brandon B — Google review
Fantastic story of the cold war and worth a visit for the history lesson. But be prepared that these are just 2 tunnels with some beds, desks, a kitchen, and some empty cardboard boxes.
Lars L — Google review
Quite a unique experience! We visited this place some days back and found the guided tour quite interesting. The tour lasted 50 minutes. Since there is no parking available, one can reach there by foot or with the shuttle bus (which is only available between May and November). So, check their website before planning your visit. It's a bit of an uphill climb to reach the place.
Padmini S — Google review
Postitive: Very interesting place - guided visit takes 50min, usually every 30 min between 10 and 15:30. Negative: Not disabled friendly (or even some help) No English language (staff and labels) Ticket 13€ per person (rebate for students and bank employees, but not for disabled) Lack of any parking at place (none disable compliant bus can take you from bottom of Cochem). Worth visiting and taking a look on history of storing 16 bilon Deutsche Mark up to 1988.
Kamil N — Google review
This bunker didn't impress me at all, I thought it was too expensive at €14. There wasn't much to see... The guided tour was only in German.
S.M.M.L — Google review
We thought that this was a very interesting place to visit. On arrival a charming and very friendly young man named Tim organised our tickets and chatted to us about where we were from, and what to expect from our visit. He spoke perfect English and explained that the tour is in German, and gave us the 2 options for English speakers, of 1) a sheet with the information for each stop on the tour on it, or 2) an audio guide to listen to via an app. Together we reckoned that the sheet would suit us best. Thank you Tim! We waited a few minutes for the tour to start, and during that time read all the notes for each stop on the tour. (That was very helpful as we knew what to expect and look out for, and it also helped us think of questions, the answers to which might not be obvious on the tour). The tour started with Gerde being our guide. Although the tour is in German, Gerde explained in English that if we had any questions as the tour progressed, she would very happily answer them - which she subsequently did in a very friendly and informative way. The bunker itself is a very interesting place. I disagree with the negative comments from some other reviewers. This museum is very interesting and well worth the costs, which we were aware of before visiting. Our tour group was very small, with only 6 people in the group, so it was very easy to see everything and hear the answers to our questions. We enjoyed this visit very much. Many thanks to Gerde and Tim. You both did a great job. Brian & Alison- Ireland

Visitors can expect genuine and exquisite German and European dishes made with local ingredients, as well as authentic central European snacks. The extensive menu ensures that there is something to satisfy every palate.
German food is not my thing. To me, it lacks a lot of flavor. This place blew my expectations out of the water. It was SO good. We had the mushroom snitzel. It was seasoned to perfection and had just the right texture. We also had the apple cake dessert which was heavenly. I love how it wasn’t overly sweet. Although there was a language barrier, service was great and super attentive. The atmosphere was super cute with all the little decorations. Would definitely come back again.

The Riesling cake is highly recommended for its rich taste, while the friendly staff ensures excellent service.
We were seated on the terras. The service was quick and good. We intentionally wanted just a small bite instead of a big warm dish (which most restaurants serve for lunch). The tosti, salami baguette and Flammkuchen were all great

Got some pastries to-go in the afternoon. The service was slow but the staff was friendly. They had a wide selection of pastries and cakes but I chose the ones which featured seasonal fruits. Raspberry & Blueberry Tart: The crust was perfect and the cream was tangy and sweet, in perfect combination with the sour fruits. Would highly recommend this one! Strawberry Tart: This one was less memorable. The flavours were quite separate and did not meld well that well together. The pastry base was too sweet compared to the tangier fruit and the gelatin glaze was too thick for my personal liking. If you happen to be in Cochem, it's still a nice spot to rest and people-watch. Their pastries are definitely worth a try!

Restaurant
Dazert is a traditional German restaurant located near Reichsburg Cochem in Cochem, Germany. It offers an authentic German dining experience with delicious and tasty food. The restaurant has a good selection of meals but could offer more regional wines. The service can be chaotic and slow at times, and some staff members may have difficulty speaking German. However, booking a table in advance is highly advisable.
Nice place to have a wine and something to eat. The prices for food are decent and portions big enough. I had tuna flammuchen and was delicious. Pet friendly.

Food was good, wine was great! Waiter was rude when I asked if they also had a beer option. He said "well, do you see it on the menu???". Very condescending. The view was beautiful and the rest of the service was fine as well. Bit that really annoyed me.
Jasper — Google review
I went for a meal after hiking in the area. The menu has a good selection of meals, but could offer more (regional) wines. Service was a bit chaotic and slow. Some people's comment on service staff's ability to speak German is to some exted valid - but given that staff is hard to find and how difficult it is to learn German there should be more respect for the staff (they seemed to be Ukrainian refugees). Booking a table is highly advisable! I've seen many people being rejected due to bookings (even though many tables were vacant when I arrived).

The restaurant takes you back in time. We felt like we were eating at our grandparents. The food was so nice and portions generous. Service was friendly and authentic!

Delicious food and lovely service. The restaurant is run by a charming older couple. We asked them about it and the man said they've had it for 41 years! No surprise, they seem to know their stuff and have a very good routine. I had the salmon with lobster sauce, which was fabulous. The staff didn't rush us at all, even though we were the last customers and stayed about half an hour after the second to last had left. We will definitely go back to this restaurant next time we visit Cochem.

Yi L — Google review
Worst dinner I've ever had in my life. Let’s start with the fact that the restaurant looked like before the world war - old decor, tablecloths on the tables and curtains like from centuries ago. You can see that this place has stopped in time many years ago. We started our meal with soup, barely finished the small bowls with a portion of strange-tasting concoctions. The next dish was schnitzel with asparagus and potatoes. The contents of the plate were floating in asparagus water, the cutlet had never even seen a simple spice, which is salt, the meat was hard and the breading fell apart after sticking a fork because it was underfried. We didn't even like the potatoes. Plus for good wine and that would be it. We didn't even eat the second course after a few bites we asked for the bill and left. I do not recommend!!! Avoid this place with a wide berth, money thrown down the drain…..

Wine bar
A lovely small wine bar located near the Cochem Reichsburg, Weinstube Schlossbergkeller offers a friendly atmosphere with exceptional wine and delicious accompaniments such as ham, salami, and locally sourced sausages. They also serve fresh bread, cheese, and other specialties. If you're looking to try more wines from the region after dinner, this charming spot is definitely worth checking out. The prices are reasonable enough that you can sample a variety of different wines.
We had some delicious Leberwurst and Blutwurst with 3 different types of mustard, everything home made! The amazing local wine pairs very well (we had a fresh autumn wine and a bottle of Dornfelder -fineherb). I highly recommend it!

Looked nice from the outside. Unfortunately they turned us away about 45 minutes before 16:30, their advertised time of closing (which is half an hour earlier than it says online!) Obviously didn't need the business. By the way, couldn't see any customers at all inside so the lady who turned us away must like plenty of time near end of shift to tidy and go home.

A random find on the way to the castle, a place you want to return to again and again. The most delicious wine, homemade cheese, and fresh warm bread - the perfect combination. The fantastic strawberry bowl "drunken strawberry" is a must-try. It felt like visiting grandma - a homely atmosphere filled with love and flavor. Thank you, we'll be back again!

Nestled in the charming town of Cochem, Hotel Karl Müller offers a delightful blend of comfort and convenience. Just a short stroll from the iconic Reichsburg Cochem, this hotel features 45 well-appointed rooms that boast lovely views of the Mosel River. Guests can unwind on their private balconies while soaking in the picturesque scenery or enjoy a leisurely breakfast buffet to start their day right.
This is a really cute hotel! The location can't be beat and makes Cochem walkable and relaxing. We got a river view room and it was awesome! We just loved waking up and looking out at the stunning view. The bed was very comfortable - great pillows too. The breakfast was delicious also. Every day we were eager to scamper downstairs and enjoy it! Lots of variety and everything offered was great - they even had lactose free milk. We also had reserved a parking space with the hotel, which I'd recommend to save stress.
Heather B — Google review
I've had a rather disappointing stay at the Karl Muller hotel. Checking in was fine. They automated the system, but I wouldn't say it worked flawlessly. Staff needs to help from time to time which makes it a lot less efficient. The elevator is commicly small. Only two people fit in. The other option is the stairwell, which is nearly impossible with a heavy suitcase or bag. Rooms seemed fine at first. It has al the necessities you need. I did immediately feel how hot the room was. There is a fan in the room, but that doesn't help much. In the evening the outside air cooled to around 10-15 degrees, but even with the window open, the room wouldn't cool at all. The bed isn't comfortable at all. I could feel my back starting to hurt halfway through the night. The walls are extremely thin. I could hear every move my neighbors made. I could follow conversations etc. Shower pressure is abysmal. Controls of the shower require some power to move. Bathroom door doesn't have a lock. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. Staff was a bit slow, but it was busy. They do offer parking in a garage about 5 minutes from the hotel. It's a bit annoying but you can leave your bags in the lobby, which makes it a bit better.

This hotel is beautifully located along the Mosel near all the major attractions. Although it is in a touristy area, it is quiet at night. The beds are very comfortable and we have been grateful for the warm comforters during this rainy stay. I would also mention the hotel breakfasts are some of the best I have had while traveling throughout Germany, with a wide array of food to choose from including yogurts, muesli, and cold meats, accompanied by scrambled eggs and fried bacon and sausage. Finally, what made this hotel stay exceptional for me was the attention of staff to my needs. I had medication which required refrigeration and the kitchen staff were amazing. Philip Foerderer, the hotel manager, went above and beyond to provide me with restaurant suggestions, taxi bookings and orientation of the city’s attractions. I felt like he was my personal host.
Calla F — Google review
A wonderful clean friendly family run hotel. Honestly. Nothing negative to report. Smack bang in the middle of Cochem. Parking garage no more than 5 minutes walk, €9 per 24 hrs Breakfast was lovely with a variety of choices between bacon & eggs to cold meats or Salmond/ Forel. Tip. If you don't book with a balcony, you want floor 5, room 5 or floor 6 room 5 as these have a view of both the castle and the Mosel. Balconies only face the Mosel but are very charming. Absolutely delightful, night and day.

We recently stayed 3 nights at Hotel Karl Muller. Our stay was faultless. Management and staff were very welcoming and provided excellent service, the location is unbeatable and our room had a wonderful view over the river. The restaurant terrace is one of the best places to eat in Cochem. The menu is good and the location is perfect.

Asia Wok Pham is a delightful culinary gem that offers an impressive array of dishes, including their standout crispy duck in hoisin sauce served with rice. The skin is perfectly fried to achieve a satisfying crunch, while the meat remains tender and bursting with flavor. Run by the friendly husband-and-wife duo, Mr. Huy Pham and his wife, this restaurant operates on a cash-only basis and focuses on takeout.
the crispy duck in hoisin sauce with rice is excellent. the skin was crispy fried yet the meat is tender and flavorful. The husband (mr. Huy Pham) and wife are friendly. This restaurant is cash and take out only - just take your meals and walk 50 steps to find a bench by the riverfront for the best view

Nestled along the picturesque Mosel River, Das Meyers is a delightful culinary haven perfect for any time of day. Whether you're fueling up for an adventurous morning, grabbing a quick lunch, indulging in a sweet afternoon treat, or savoring a hearty burger dinner, this charming restaurant has something to satisfy every palate. Located within the Hotel Cochemer Jung but welcoming all visitors to Cochem's historic old town, Das Meyers offers cozy leather seating indoors and inviting tables on its outdoor terrace.
We tried coffee and cakes. Extremely delightful. I definitely recommend Tramisu cake. Prices are a bit high, probably because of location cost rather than quality cost. Yet worths for sure!

Here's the English translation: I chose this restaurant because it was on our way, without checking the Google reviews which I always do. I ordered a Wiener Schnitzel which was cooked perfectly. The size isn't the same as in Vienna , it's half, but at least the taste was authentic. I think is to expensive, almost 34 euro. For dessert, I chose strudel. That was also very good, you could reduce the cream and add one more scoop of ice cream. Everyone ate well. Therefore, I believe the negative reviews this restaurant has are not justified, or perhaps they even changed the chef because of them 😀. I ate there on 01.05.2025 and I will be back soon. For the Wiener Schnitzel!

We tried cheese burger 🍔 but it was awful, smell of meet wasn’t good 🤢, I was so hungry but I couldn’t finish my burger, I also ordered orange juice but it wasn’t natural one. But fries was good. I guess staff were trying to be nice and they accepted credit card.
Bahare — Google review
Food was not that good for the price you are paying, waitress charged us for sauces and charged us for stuff that was included in the dishes such as fries in the burger. Unfriendly staff and unflavoured food. Do not recommend.
Juan G — Google review
I ordered the BBQ burger with caramelized onions and a large Afri Cola. Unfortunately, the experience was thoroughly disappointing. The "patty" was more like a dry meatball, like you'd find in a cafeteria, and had absolutely no resemblance to a juicy burger, especially not for something over €15. It was bland in taste, poorly presented, and absolutely not value for money. For that price, I expect significantly more quality and craftsmanship. It's a real shame – I can't recommend this place at all and I certainly won't be coming back.
Stefan N — Google review
we were searching where to eat for too long cause here’s a little problem to find a great food spot without booking a place. we ordered two beef cheese burgers. meat was too dry and not salty at all. the food is overpriced. burger costs 12,9 but if u want fries with ketchup - 20€ overall…do not recommend
Polina S — Google review
We visited Das Meyers in Cochem and left rather disappointed. The interior is quite simple and doesn’t feel very cozy. Service was rather dry and minimal, without much friendliness or warmth. The menu itself was not very extensive. For a restaurant that puts such emphasis on burgers, the quality of the meat was actually poor, bordering on bad. My partner’s steak was cooked more than requested and was quite small in size, which made it even less satisfying. Overall, it was food, and that’s about it. Unfortunately, we would not return here ourselves and cannot recommend it to others.
Jordi D — Google review
Great for an afternoon break! It’s right in front of the river, the cakes are good (not exceptional but good) and when you ask for a hot chocolate, you get a very big hit chocolate which is always appreciated! We also stayed a bit long to play a board game, and it seemed to be fine with the staff so it was nice of them to let us enjoy ourselves a bit longer.

Restaurant
Ellis Schnitzel-Haus is a delightful spot to savor tasty schnitzels with a picturesque view. The menu offers an array of options, including pork and chicken schnitzels with various sauces. The schnitzels are served in generous portions and are accompanied by delectable sides like asparagus and wedge potatoes. The service is prompt, and the staff is friendly, creating a pleasant dining experience. While the prices may be slightly high, the quality of the food justifies it.
Tasty schnitzel place with a view! I ordered a normal portion of schnitzel with hollandaise sauce and asparagus and wedge potatoes. Food arrived quickly and everything was super hot. It was a good option when most other restaurants closed during the middle of the day after lunch. Payment by card accepted. An older gentleman was our server and he was very friendly and even spoke some Polish words to us when he found out we’re from Poland. Overall nice experience.
Monica Z — Google review
Came in on a Sunday and has prompt service. The food was excellent and fresh and the server was kind. Overall, the only complaint was the price. The food was delicious and fresh but 3 of us and 2 beers cost over €50. That said, something else besides the view that’s great about this place is the sheer number of options. Pork and chicken options sprawl over many pages. I’d been waiting to have a schnitzel with pepper sauce and finally had it here. If you understand you’re paying quite a bit for the beautiful view, I definitely recommend visiting. We’d go back if there weren’t so many other places still waiting for their first try. The important part was that we enjoyed it and it was hot and fresh.
Jeffrey B — Google review
Absolutely awful! The schnitzel was half cold, felt like it was just took out of a freezer. The beer was barely cold and felt like still water. GO TO THE OTHER PLACE TO GET A LUNCH 100%%% Save you money( The prices are not pleasant as well.) Advice: most of the good restaurants mostly with german food open at 5 pm. Have a snack and just wait until 5.
Sofi H — Google review
1) The schnitzel was not fresh at all, I am sure it was frozen 2) We got the exact same sauce with our schnitzels, although the menu listed them under different names 3) The waiter who brought our food smelled strongly of alcohol and could not communicate in English 4) 5€ for tap water is insane :))
Bogi F — Google review
Kindly ok. The schnitzel normal was not so big, not so small, good. The meat was more than 1cm thick with a very thin crumb, tasty, not having oil taste. The fries and potatos also good quality. Tiramisu was a classic one, like grandma did, very tasty. Also the sweet flammkuchen, pretty good. Payment: 0 star, the do no accept just cash...
Zoltán S — Google review
I never write reviews, but my kids MADE me write one. We just loved this place. Excellent food, drinks, selection, atmosphere, and prices. A full delicious dinner was under 60 euro and the family was just incredibly impressed. Better yet, the food came out fast and the service was incredible. We highly recommend going here!

The Gemstone Museum & Historic grinding shops Cochem is a fascinating destination that offers a journey through the history of gemstone grinding. Visitors can explore sparkling displays of gems, minerals, and fossils while learning about the process of gemstone cutting and polishing. The museum features an extensive collection of gemstones and jewelry, making it a must-visit for enthusiasts. Additionally, the knowledgeable staff provides valuable insights and guidance to enhance the overall experience.
We had a great experience in this museum! Not only due to the interesting exhibition and shop, where you want to buy everything you see, but also due to a very, very nice and intelligent employee of the museum. We are not the best visitors with our super active toddler with an extremely loud voice, but the employee was not at all irritated, demonstrated a great sense of humour, kindness and we had an interesting conversation with him. We'll definitely be back here, once we are in Cochem again.

Both the museum and the shop are magnificent. The museum is detailed, and the staff was polite and knowledgeable. Toilets were clean and everything was neat. I myself am not really a gem lover but this was really worth a visit.

Great little museum and definitely worth the price if you're interested in gemstones at all. Unfortunately all the information is currently only in German but I was told English signs would also be put up soon. Friendly staff and quite a large store with all sorts of stones to buy at a reasonable price. Just a heads-up, the store continues out back and the museum is upstairs.

Throughout the experience, we sampled 6-7 great wines, discovering new favorites along the way while expanding our knowledge. Anni’s expertise and warm approach made the tasting both enjoyable and educational. She took the time to understand our individual wine preferences, tailoring the tasting and discussion to ensure a truly personalized experience. Such a nice experience from start to finish—highly recommended! ✨

What a pleasant experience! We stopped by Kloster Ebernach to find a dry Riesling from the Mosel to take home with us, and we found two that were wonderful. These two Riesling’s were perfect for us and completely different from one another. Their 2024 Cochemer Riesling Trochen and their 2023 Pommerner Sonnenuhr Riesling Trochen are amazing Riesling wines and completely unique from each other. The minerality in both really set them apart from where we live on the Rhine River and the 2023 fermented in a traditional Mosel-Fuder 1000 liter oak barrel really set it apart from the 2024 Cochemer Riesling we purchased. Two wonderful dry Riesling’s providing completely different experiences. I am so happy that we took the time to stop and experience their delicious wines.

We visited this morning to buy wine (it was too early for tasting). Really enjoyed the experience. The difference between the wines were explained in perfect English by the kind young woman who helped us. We also bought local honey and later I went back for more wine and meat pate. I am sure we've got the perfect gifts to take home with us. We really recommend this wine house.

We went yesterday for a wine tasting and were served by Daniel. It was his first day on the job but we were very pleased by the professional and aproachable service. We went home with a big smile and a car full of wine (because the wine was also very yummy!). Absolutely would recommend for a chill, friendly, cosy wine tasting!

Fantastic tasting - Marwin and Anni was so welcoming and answered all our questions. We will absolutely be back!

We had such a lovely visit here. The family that now runs this winery is so sweet and knowledgeable. They gave us a tour of the property and wine making process (in wonderful English!) and prepared a lovely tasting for us with descriptions of each of the wines. We had to take four bottles home, they were so good! Highly recommend. Vielen Dank 🥂

Thank you, especially Philip, for a lovely tasting experience. We had so much fun! Looking forward to receiving our ordered bottles home.
Lotta V — Google review
The kindest, most personal wine tasting experience we had in Cochem. From the minute we walked in Annie took such amazing care of us. Walking us through the facility and telling us about the history of the wine. She followed up with more tastings in their gorgeous courtyard and made our afternoon by leading us up to a vineyard 30 min away where we had a bottle of one of their Reislings, made from grapes in that vineyard. We highly recommend this as a stop outside of the crowded center. Phenomenal service and good, affordable wine.

Restaurant
Gaststätte Bürgerstube is a small, cozy pub located in the heart of Cochem. Despite its limited ventilation due to its size and layout, it remains a popular spot thanks to its cold beer and fair prices. Visitors can enjoy a selection of small dishes from the menu while soaking up the traditional German atmosphere. The bar is known for its friendly staff who provide attentive service with genuine hospitality.
Friendly barman/host, Speaks English. Nice cosy traditional German bar in Cochem, selling Bitburger and other alcoholic liquid refreshments, Plus some light food is also offered, like Gulasch and Tomato Soup, Bockwurst and a few other simple dishes served to a high quality. Smoking is allowed. Fair price.
Billy B — Google review
Nice bar, friendly staff. We had goulash and tomato soup. It was very good. Pay attention is only cash place.
Jaime C — Google review
It is a nice little bar and the staff is friendly. However, the space is a bit narrow and the portion of the meal is too few.
Chao-Yang F — Google review
Worst place in Cochem. The attendant was extremely rude and ironic in all comments he made. I felt a big disrespect from him. Moreover, I saw lots of people smoking inside the restaurant. In conclusion: worst people, worst environment, worst place.
Diogo S — Google review
Friendly, intimate bar with good beer selection
Stacie Z — Google review
Very rude service. Unpleasant experience. The attendant was impolite and talk ironically. Definitely the worse restaurant at Cochem. They treat tourists from other countries extremely bad.
Paula C — Google review
The place was so dirty and the person that works there was so rude. I try to communicate and understand the place but was not possible. If you are tourist in this city, my suggestion is to look for another restaurant with the friendly people.

The most rude service I experienced in Germany. Better not to visit....

Restaurant
Restaurant Mosella Schinkenstube offers a delectable range of dishes, including a hefty hamburger with bacon and cheese that is cooked to perfection without being dry. The meal is accompanied by fries, making it an excellent value for money. Additionally, the establishment houses an enticing meat market and deli. Alongside this delightful fare, their specialty dish "Mosella Pfanchen" and ravioli are also highly recommended.
Great Food, friendly and fast service. Child friendly. The schnitzel is outstanding!

Over 20 euros for such bad food is a shame. The quality of the food is very bad, everything was very greasy. The place will only satisfy older people aged 60+
Łukasz — Google review
Came here for dinner on our last night and wished we found it sooner. No reservation required but it was fairly busy, despite this we were not kept waiting. The serving staff were very attentive. Chicken schnitzel was the best schnitzel I had all week and the side salad was beaut. The portions are a good size. The warm chocolate pudding with ice cream and cream was absolutely delicious. If I could give more stars I would!
Julie W — Google review
We visited the restaurant a couple of times during our stay in Ernst. Lovely food, seasonal mushroom sauce with schnitzel one day, fab Caesar salad with chicken the other. the beer was excellent as was the local Riesling . Friendly and efficient staff, casual happy atmosphere.

We were a party of 5 It’s a specialty butcher shop as well I had the grilled pork and veal platter It was well well seasoned and presented For a tourist restaurant it was very good.
Theo H — Google review
We keep going back every few years to see if it has changed and it only seems to get worse. If you can get a seat outside, there are a few tables with a view of the Mosel. Kids can play outside which is nice. They offer axe at very particular times which is fun and not all that easy to find in the area, but we've had better. The butcher is very nice. We like to go to the shop outside of the restaurant. Our last experience in the restaurant was so dreadful, I doubt we'll be going back. It was crazy expensive and for no reason at all. The inside of the restaurant is characterless, cold and resembles a large hospital cafeteria. The schnitzel is one of the most expensive on the Mosel! AND it wasn't even good! If ya can't do a decent schnitzel, ya might as well just pack it in. I'm not even really all that picky. I might recommend it if you don't mind paying high prices and or you have large dogs or unruly children. To be fair, the place is packed, but we can't figure out why! The service has never been great either, but that seems normal in Europe.

Good food, decent prices for the area, and friendly service (for German standards).

Hotel Hieronimi is conveniently located just a short 7-minute car ride away from the famous Castillo de Cochem. This hotel boasts a remarkable restaurant that has received rave reviews. Despite initial concerns due to negative feedback, these worries were unfounded as none of the mentioned drawbacks were experienced by the reviewer. Arriving at 8 PM, they were promptly seated and served a glass of wine within two minutes. The staff was exceptionally friendly and not rushed in any way.
We started with a glass of wine and view of the castle, which then ended in having dinner because of the lovely menu and fare prices. The service was lovely and friendly. And the food was delicious!!!

Hotel Hieronimi is a cozy and welcoming establishment with a prime location in Cochem, offering beautiful views of the Moselle River and surrounding vineyards. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and well-appointed, providing a relaxing atmosphere for guests. The friendly staff ensures a warm and hospitable experience, while the hotel’s restaurant serves delicious local cuisine paired with excellent wines. It’s an ideal choice for anyone looking to explore Cochem while enjoying a pleasant and peaceful stay.

What a great place! The best terrace in Cochem with the best view. A perfect steak, attentive staff, good beer and delicious wines. A firm favourite. Inside is equally good and full of character.
Dafydd B — Google review
I cannot say enough about how great this restaurant is. I almost did not go because of the negative reviews. I did not experience a single thing Mentioned as negatives in the other reviews. I went at 8 PM, was seated immediately, and have a glass of wine in front of me within two minutes. The staff could not of been friendlier, I was not rushed. I had the Jager art schnitzel and it was fantastic. The accompanying salad was incredible. There was plenty of food and the prices were not unreasonable. This is a resort town, albeit a very small one. I would expect prices to be on the high side. Unfortunately, I have forgotten my camera and only have one picture of the inside, supplied by a friend I met there.
Mark W — Google review
it's a lovely place with very nice food. We had white asparagus and salmon. unlike other extreme salty food we had in Germany it's super light and fresh. probably one of the best we had in Germany. Their own wine was also quite good. I had a feinhalb which was nice.
Isolde L — Google review
Dated rooms but adequate. We had a view of the Moezel and the burg. Not far to walk to centre but there are steep steps to take to cross the bridge. We were not too impressed with the waitresses. They were not attent enough when new guests arrived on the terrace. We had e.g. a 15 mins wait, but we're not in a hurry. 3 times we were told they would bring a menu, which we fetched ourself in the end.
Gargee B — Google review
One our favourite places to have dinner. The food and local selection of wines is excellent. Its a good idea to reserve as they can often be quite busy.
Mike N — Google review
Service wasn't great. The food was good. Wines too. Couldn't use card to pay because their atm machine had issues. Walked all the way to the center over the bridge to get the money and when I came back a half hour later they didn't even notice anymore and let us wait for at least another 15 mins untill we walked inside to pay. So it gave quite a downer on an otherwise fine and sunny day. You'd expect a bit of service and attention when a service they offered failed.
