Treetop Walk Saarschleife is a 1,250-meter-long elevated wooden bridge that takes you through a forest path and leads to a lookout tower offering stunning views of the Saarschleife natural wonder. Opened to the public in July 2016, it provides a unique perspective of the Saarland landscape. The structure is well-maintained and wheelchair accessible, making it suitable for visitors of all ages. However, finding parking may be challenging on busy days.
Lovely place, 7000sq m of woods. The whole walk from parking to the tree top structure is flat- kids and old folks can easily walk. Walk up to top is also effortless. Spectacular view from top. Windy but splendid view. Must visit with family and kids.
Mahi R — Google review
Very busy but also the best spot to take your family and friends to see the ‘Saarschleife’. It’s a fun walk with some puzzles and riddles along the way for kids. The top can be crowded depending on the weather and time of day. Can take a fair bit until it’s your turn to take the perfect photo ;) You can also buy a season pass which will give you unlimited access for a whole year.
Rouven G — Google review
Lovely place with astonishing view, is very nice to see places in Germany countryside with infrastructure to receive tourist. The view is amazing and they even have an elevated walkway in the middle of the trees. Very easy to access by train and bus. Only issue was the price (12,5€), for a student it was so expensive and the student price was not appealing at all (11,5€), only 1€ discount.
Leonardo V — Google review
Incredible experience for families accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. Interes hike with activities for children and educational facts. View on top from the tower is breathtaking. Totally worth its price. We paid 27 euros for a family ticket of two kids and two adults.
Veronica H — Google review
Cool place with interesting information. With kids makes a lot of sense to go because of the nature explanation. Without you can think about just going to the little free lookout below. View is nearly as good.

It's beautiful place, good for kids and families, good forsome kind of activity😍 like walk and otherthings, so so nice place especially the Saar Loop wow so beautiful 😍.

Very nice viewpoint to see the saar and Saarschleife You can walk up and then also under towards the saar river Banches are above with view points You can also spot squirrels on the way! Accessible for everyone even wheelchair and strollers! A must when visiting Saarland!
Brent C — Google review
For the price, this is an excellent attraction, as you can spend many hours walking around. The main attraction for us was definitely the tree top walk and the viewing platform. The walk across the boardwalk has several interactive points for children, although I didn't see any information written in English. It isn't too strenuous, and inclines are suitable if you have a pushchair or a mobility walker so everyone can enjoy this experience. As the name suggests, you're walking at tree top heights, therefore thise who have issues with height don't look down. What i would say is, if you're ok with looking straight across at a view (opposed to down), definitely do this, as the views are to behold. On a clear day, you can see for miles, over the woodlands and river Sarr. I would also encourage everyone to slowly walk the boardwalk before the viewing platform, as there are many birds flying around and with many bird feeding stations on the route you are sure to see some beautiful little birds. The 2 we saw a lot of were the Nuthatch & Crested Tit. If you want to spend the day, suggest taking a picnic.

We visited few places like this in Europe. This one it wasn’t crowded. About 2 hours takes to visit all platforms. If you would like to eat just in front is really nice small hut/bar that you can buy great food. Deposit for glass €5 and make sure you have cash as they don’t accept card. About 15 minutes you have cash machine (ATM). Car park accept coins but easily you can download app and pay by phone (Apple Pay or credit card) doesn’t matter what language you are use or which country you come from. Really great place to visit and so beautiful views from the top. Separate you can pay extra for access to playground.

We visited this place last week and we really loved it. It was first time we were visiting this place just by locating it on maps. The place was really nice. There is a ticket to go to the tree top walk tower. The view is mesmerising. Must visit.
Shriyash D — Google review
Overall experience in one word can be summarized as awesome. There are different walking areas around here that you visit according to your choice of routes and distance. I really liked the idea of cardiac triangle walk. We walked with kid and toddler (you can bring stroller. It's wheelchair friendly place). Tip : if you decide to go for a walk (we took the 2km route) don't forget to visit ostrich enclosure. Apparently there are also eggs for sale. The parking lot is wide but I find it somewhat overpriced. This place has a toilet facility that actually had toilet paper and soap but sanitation needs work. Because of corona, play zone and observation tower are closed. Some food and drinks are available at the huts (obviously bit pricey) but there are lots of benches available for you to enjoy picnic.

Cloef is a stunning destination offering breathtaking panoramic views accessible via a treetop path. The observation platform provides an incredible vantage point, and visitors can enjoy concessions nearby. Families can explore the area with their pets and take advantage of the playground and wooden trail once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Clean restrooms and affordable parking make for a convenient visit, especially during less crowded times.
Beautiful place to explore with the entire family, including your dog, and when COVID19 restrictions are lifted, the playground and wooden trail look fun. Bathrooms are very clean, parking is 1.50 Euros for 2 hours. I went during the week, so the place was not crowded. Bring 5 cents, and 1 and 2 Euro coins if you like to collect the memorabilia coins. The machine is on the trail. Great place to visit!

The Cloef viewpoint in Mettlach, Saarland, Germany, is renowned for its breathtaking panoramic views of the Saarschleife, a dramatic bend in the Saar River. Visitors often describe the scenery as stunning and well worth the trip. The area is accessible via well-maintained trails, including the Cloef Pfad, which is popular among hikers and dog owners alike. The trail offers scenic walking paths and open spaces, making it an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts and their canine companions. One of the highlights of the area is the Treetop Walk Saarschleife (Baumwipfelpfad), a wooden walkway that leads to a spiral observation tower. From the top, visitors are rewarded with expansive views of the surrounding landscape. While the experience is memorable, some guests have noted that the entrance fee of €12.50 might be considered steep for access to the viewpoint. The Cloef-Atrium in Orscholz serves as a visitor center, providing information and amenities to enhance the experience. Although specific reviews are limited, the facility contributes to the overall appeal of the destination. For those planning an extended stay, accommodations like Landhaus Cloef and Forsthaus an der Cloef offer comfortable lodging options nearby. These establishments provide convenient access to the natural attractions and are well-regarded by guests. In summary, the Cloef viewpoint and its surrounding attractions offer a captivating experience for nature lovers and hikers. The combination of stunning vistas, accessible trails, and nearby amenities make it a worthwhile destination for visitors to the Saarland region.

Walk through a vast area of greenery filled with tall trees into an amazing view of water gap formed by Saar river. There are play areas for fun, games if you have got children with you. The tree top walk is magnificent if you love heights and adventures, but you have to pay for it.

Villeroy & Boch Outlet Mettlach is located in a charming area with various accommodation options nearby. Customers praise the outlet for its current items at discounted prices and excellent customer service, including post-purchase problem-solving. The shop's historical significance is also noted, as it supplied tiles for the Turkish Baths on the Titanic. Visitors appreciate the gorgeous crockery and wide selection of items available at outlet prices, with additional discounts offered through touch screen registration.
Nice shop. Took VAT form. Have bathrooms available. We registered for a 10% discount. Parking was close and not very expensive. People in the shop were helpful.

Just wow. First, you can find current items at discounted prices. Second, their service is great, from advice given in store to problem solving after the purchase. We bought a set without checking it and it turned out to be incomplete when we unpacked it at home. They sent us the replacement by post so we didn't have to make an extra trip. We greatly appreciate being treated this way by a business.

Loved the shop. I even bought something. The crockery is absolutely gorgeous, even for my taste. Lots of bargains to be had at the moments. This was our first time there today. Might go back tomorrow, as they are open tomorrow.
Dagmar L — Google review
Good selection and we'll laid out. Good customer service and they wrapped the dishes for transport like they were their own!
Timothy J — Google review
Well, the shop inside is very nice and has very good variety. All thr staff us very nice, but probably until you buy the product. I have bought the set last weekend. All the dishes on exposition were very good quality, so we decided to by all set. Sales woman broat us all the dishes in closed boxes....one day after I opened and saw product with other quality than I saw in the shop. Yes, it's discoun, but what I saw nobody would buy at even 50% discount. I contacted shop immediately, so was arranged the shipment , but now the want my original invoice. Sorry, we exchange 5 emails and if I send it I have no confirmation about payment. I want my money back or I go to police to declare that from my point of view you are trying to cheat your customer. If you need original invoice you write in 1 email as a requirement. You mentioned this only after I have sent you all the dishes. I hope your bosses will read this fee6and contact me to solve the problem.
Google review
Wide selection at outlet prices, many pieces have extra discounts. Selection ranges from essentials to higher end pieces, seasonal decorations. Registering via touch screen in the shop gives additional discount.
Giedrius S — Google review
I read somewhere that the tiles in he Turkish Baths on the Titanic are still standing, even after 100 years of being under water. Guess who made those tiles? StarLine shipping company was a customer of Villeroy and Boch of Metlach in Saarland and all of their ships used tiles from this company. They were of course expensive, but incredibly good quality.

Roman Villa Borg is a reconstructed archaeological park that offers a fascinating glimpse into various aspects of Roman rural life. Situated about 20 minutes' drive from the Old Abbey, it stands as the only one of its kind in Europe. The well-maintained site features a villa, gatehouse, bath, gardens, and an archaeological museum. Visitors can also enjoy a tavern serving 'Roman' beer and generous portions of delicious food.
Lovely place to visit, out in the countryside, not far, about 30 minutes away from the Luxembourg border. Roman Borg is a reconstructed Roman villa that is well-kept and gives its visitors a clear picture of life as it was then, a living museum. The 'tavern' is an actual eatery, and after a tiring tour of the exhibits and buildings, a neal there will be a lovely end to round up the tour.
Tony T — Google review
This reconstructed Roman Villa sits on top of the remains of existing Villa from the 2nd - 3rd Century. There are some artifacts on display, but the Villa is more about the experience. The best time to visit would be when they have a reenactment activity. There is a movie explaining the site, but unfortunately, it is only in German with no subtitles in French, Dutch, or English despite the close proximity to Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Many of the displays have multilingual information. There is even a QR code, but even having T-Mobile Germany, I had no WiFi reception. The site is located in a pretty remote area. There is a café with attentive servers and a selection of Roman themed meals and drinks.
Jœ — Google review
So cool! Great reconstruction of a real Roman fort. Current archeological dig site. Has a really cool Roman festival with gladiator fights and traditional tradesmen the first weekend of August.
Adrianell S — Google review
Very interesting archeological site! It's worth a visit. But please add information in English too though because everything was in German. The QR codes for translation didn't work because our wifi signal was too weak

A piece of history very well rebuild. You can imagine vividly how the Romans lived in those days. Worth a visit. You can also have something to eat and drink in the taverne.

Very basic, difficult parking, change rules as they please: close restaurant, no personal check-in Disliked · Booked an hotel with restaurant, after al lot of research. What we got: an email that there was no check in and we must pick up our key in a box. If we wanted that kind of service, we would have booked an Airbnb. After trying to make a reservation for the restaurant, they told us the restaurant would be closed, because of a holiday earlier that week? They did not inform us about the closing of the restaurant prior and the restaurant was one of the main reasons we booked the hotel, because we knew we would arrive after a long day of driving and hiking. When we arrived, it turned out there was paid parking around the hotel, they did not inform us about that eather. Took an hour of driving through te village and calling the owner of the hotel to find a parking spot. Very disappointing stay. Room is also very basic for 135 Euro a night. No fridge, no coffee or tea, no airconditioning. Very noisy, we woke up really early because of a truck in front of the hotel.

The food is delicious, but unfortunately, nothing more. A real shame! Wolf Park Werner Freund is a research center and park featuring landscaped enclosures that house wolf species from around the world. Visitors can enjoy a free tour on the first Sunday of the month, although it's conducted in German. During the tour, guests are treated to insightful information about wolves and get to witness interactions with these majestic creatures, including feeding sessions. The park offers separate areas for seven wolf groups, making it easier for families to observe these wild animals and learn about their habits and lives.
Really lovely wildlife park with amazing wolves. This place is great to walk round and learn about the wolves without feeling like you’re in a zoo or that the animals are mistreated. It’s completely free but i would leave a small donation as it’s truly a great place.

It's preset small but free to enter. The caregivers care a lot about the wolves and they have a lot of space. The surrounding forest has some beautiful hiking trails.
Sjoerd P — Google review
The experience was a bit disappointing; only a small portion of the park was opened. The whole tour took 20 mins. We got to see some wolves though. I can't be mad about that. Must visit. And it's free. But check their website first before visiting.

Great selection of Wolves to see. We saw the Lithuanian Wolves and the Polar Wolves. They were absolutely beautiful. The grounds are stunning Forrest. Ferns, trees, moss, mushrooms, slugs, it was just beautiful. The lady running the park for the day was very nice and kind. The park is free but I encourage you to donate. It’s worth it! We spent a good hour to hour and a half walking around and observing the wolves. Take the trip

We got to see almost all of the wolves that lived there, except for the black ones. We were so lucky to hear an orchestra of the wolves howling from one end of the park to the other. Even more impressed when Tatjana came to feed them a small deer. Truly impressed!

We visited on a weekend in April. Allow about 1-2 hours to have a good walk around. Signs are in German, French, and English. I cannot believe that this place was free!

It was a first Sunday of the month, so we came for the free tour. We knew that tour will be only in German, and this was a 1st time I regretted to not knowing German. Frau Tatiana had a 30 min cool info about wolves at the first point and then another 15 min at every other stop. She interacted with wolves and fed them chicken. It was amazing to see how friendly wolves are in here. Really lovely experience, even we had pouring rain on us all this time. At the end don't forget to stop by the souvenir store where you can buy cup, magnets, key chain, shirts or hoodie, calendar or book with a photos of local wolves. Truly magic experience seeing wolves. Thank you Frau Tatiana.

Super thermal aquatic center, big enough, clean well organized and good price. The massage was the highlight for me: I did "zeit für mich" massage, the man who performed the massage, was cheerful, professional and very polite. He did very relaxing massage🥰 the best Ive ever had..many thanks👏

My husband and I love this place. We enjoy the peace and tranquility that the wellness area offers and spend most of our time in the outdoor pool, basking in the sun and just letting the day come to a close. The evening is also nice with the various colored lights, which add a special atmosphere and warmth. This wellness area is not recommended for children or teenagers that want to be loud and rambunctious!

Outdoor swimming pool
Freibad Mettlach is a spacious and well-equipped swimming pool with plenty of amenities. It offers ample space for visitors to relax, with large grassy areas, shaded tables, and benches for picnics. The facilities include changing rooms, showers, a ice cream parlor, and a small snack bar. There are three pools catering to different age groups and preferences: one for toddlers, another with a slide, and a third featuring diving boards.
A lovely small town summer swimming pools complex. The only minus is just a short pool (25 m) for swimmers. The rest is wonderful: water not too warm, the pools in stainless steel, green grass, lots of shade, wonderful location, great buffets and e very interesting main building that speaks architectural history of the region. Eco-friendly, as they apparently warm up their water with a solar system.

Perfect food (its a lot of food for the good price!) and service. Loved the vibe!
Fleur W — Google review
A simple yet great place to enjoy time. The outside looks slightly industrial and needs some painting. However after entering we realised that it's a big place with actual beer brewing units which makes it nicer. The attendant was incredibly friendly and helpful and been so through out the afternoon. The beers we had was suggested by the attendant and we loved them. The starter and main courses were really good. Overall a fantastic experience. I will definitely go back when it's slightly warmer to sit outside in the beergarten. Eat and drink here if you are in the region.
Kinsuk 3 — Google review
We visited on the evening of 6th January, so it wasn't very busy, although there were enough people for a bit of atmosphere. The dark beer was good, my wife had a light beer which was pretty standard. I chose the ribs, and she had Jägerschnitzel. The ribs were dry on the outside, and reasonably tasty, although not the best I've had. The Jägerschnitzel was OK. All in all, not top quality food but perfectly adequate and in line with the price.

Staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Merzig whilst visiting Villeroy & Boch Mettlach we had an amazing night here. I recommend the rump steak or the schnitzel for meat lovers, or the veggie burger if meat is not your thing. Everything was well cooked and extremely tasty.

Italian restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Merzig, Restaurant Callari is a culinary gem that showcases an impressive array of Italian, European, and Mediterranean dishes. This delightful eatery caters to all palates with its offerings ranging from classic pizzas and delectable pasta to fresh salads and healthy vegetarian options. The inviting atmosphere makes it the perfect spot for enjoying a diverse selection of Mediterranean cuisine. Guests rave about their experiences at Callari, particularly highlighting the exceptional surprise menu paired with thoughtfully selected wines that elevate each course.
(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, it took me too long to visit this culinary highlight in Merzig for the first time. It was also because it is not always so easy to get a table at short notice. So we had to wait a bit, but we were more than rewarded. Great service and great quality at Menu surprise, which I can only recommend to everyone. The selection of open wines is small but fine, and there is a wide repertoire of bottles to choose from. The menu was very tasty, varied and well composed. Above all, I have to emphasize that there was enough time to enjoy. In contrast to some other restaurants that literally "sluice" you through, here I once again had the feeling that I was a guest and that I was getting a good time for my money. Especially since the price is almost a bargain in relation to the quality. The only point of criticism: Although it's nice to sit outside on the Seffersbach, the pedestrian and bicycle traffic that unfortunately passes through the outside area can be quite annoying for calmer souls. There are also apartments above the restaurant, so that something comes down when watering flowers. But I don't blame the restaurant for this, as nothing can be changed about the apartments or the route. Of course, everyone can decide for themselves whether they want to sit outside. Conclusion: A visit is definitely worth it, it's better to reserve in advance.
Christian Q — Google review
I am shocked this place is so highly rated. The portions are way too small for what the quality is. Tasteless dull food. We waited 30min for the cold starters, 1h for the pasta and the place was half empty. Happy to pay more for good quality but this was far from average!

There are too many wonderful things to say about Athen Grill. My boyfriend and I ate there last night for dinner and I mean it when I say it was the best meal, of any cuisine, either of us had ever eaten! We had the warm dolmades as a starter, which were as good as my family's recipe, if not better (but don't tell my grandmother!) For entrees I had the grilled calamari and my boyfriend had the stuffed lamb steak, and both were INCREDIBLE. However, even better than the food was the service. My boyfriend and I are English speakers, but we were welcomed in with smiles, gestures, and the little German we could understand. Our waitess, Toula, (apologies if I'm spelling it wrong) was so sweet. She spoke English and helped us translate the menu. We also had a wonderful conversation and left feeling as if we had made a new friend. Everyone should eat here if they have a chance- the food and the people who lovingly prepare and serve it are amazing! My sincerest thanks to the wonderful family who owns and operates this incredible restaurant! I'm counting the minutes until I can eat your delicious food again!!

Burg Montclair is a medieval castle located near Mettlach, perched on a high mountain ridge overlooking the Saar Loop. Accessible after an 8-minute drive and a 45-minute walk from the Montclair car park, it offers visitors a pleasant hike through the woods. The castle ruins can be explored for a small fee, providing stunning views of the surrounding area.
We crossed the Saar on the small ferry from near Driesbach (need to check when it's running) then walked up the hill to the castle which takes about 45 minutes. Great views, a cafe - though quite a solitary spot ....

Great location. Small but coisy castle, or what is left from him. Note that you will have to walk to it for quite a while. It took us almost an hour, so if you have a possibility, take a bike with you. In the castle there is a Cafe, with simple but good food. Good choice for weekend trip.
Yuri S — Google review
Nice place to visit if you're up for a hike. The castle is about 4.5 km from the closest parking lot. It's not a tough or difficult hike but it is a long one. There's no public restrooms along the way and when I was there the castle was closed till July 29 (2019). There's apparently a restaurant there and you can pay to enter the castle when it's open to the public. Highly recommend if you're in the are and have time for a decent hike.

Park your car next to the river and then take the ferry and have a short and pleasant hike here. Bring cash you can have a drink and a snack at the restaurant and enter this castle. Creditcards are sadly still not accepted here.

We had a super sunny day out... it is a gentle uphill walk but also nice downhill going back, the entrance fee to the castle ruins is only 2€ and you get to see a lot, after we were done viewing we had a great meal with generous portions of freshly prepared salad and I had meatloaf ....Grrreat! Well worth the visit and you'll be surprised to find it's not full of tourists or school trippers who don't want to walk the 7 km round trip. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Very nice place with a small museum and a bistro. The bistro was good, the museum was kind of weird - old stuff and replicas mixed together without notice, all pieces were simply spelled out without much explanation. I also missed an overview of the history of the place itself. Nice target for a hike!

Eingang und Kasse Baumwipfelpfad

4.2
(33)
Eingang und Kasse Baumwipfelpfad is a newly opened tree-top path that offers breathtaking views of the Saar Loop and the Saar Hunsruck nature reserve. On clear days, visitors can even see as far as the Vosges Mountains. The friendly cashier and group discounts make it convenient for visitors to access this beautiful treetop path. Additionally, there are various amenities such as a playground, restaurant, beer garden, and parking spaces available for convenience.

Although the views are nice the price is pretty steep at 12,50 per person. Also the signage was not so clear as we initially thought this was the entrance for the playground, but that is actually a separate entrance at the end of the treetop walk

(Translated by Google) 12.50 euros too expensive. Nice path to the actual tower with playful information boards, in three languages. Unfortunately, I soiled my hands and pants with resin while watching two squirrels on the parapet. Danger! The ticket office closes 1 hour before the end (!), so unfortunately we had to come twice and therefore missed the sunset on Thursday. Unfortunately, the feeding crib at the exit was already closed on Friday! No well-coordinated opening times, especially since the advertising board at the entrance attracts people without specifying the opening times. Binoculars at the top didn't work despite being thrown in (1eur). Nice view and exciting experience, but still too expensive. Then enjoy the view of the Cloef, 42m lower.

(Translated by Google) Way too expensive in my opinion. I think €12.50 per adult is too expensive, especially since the “attractions/stations” up to the observation tower are more for children. So if you go there as a family there's a lot of money going on. Too bad. ! (Translated by Google) Entrance fee with child, 2 adults and grandma is expensive. Beautifully built, but of course the best thing is the view. They are also available for free downstairs. The absolute height of the rip-off is the fact that the exit leads directly to the entrance to the playground, where you can pay another 30 euros for a child to have fun. There we are, walking on the summit path and sitting in the playground at over 70 euros. Playground
Abenteuerwald Saarschleife is a family-friendly park situated at the end of the treetop path Saarschleife. While some find the entrance fee a bit pricey, others opt for an annual family pass for unlimited visits. The park features diverse and well-maintained play equipment including zip lines, slides, climbing structures, and more. However, navigating with a stroller can be challenging due to stone paths.
Top experience for very reasonable price! The only drawback are paths made out of stones which is very difficult to go with a stroller. As of pricing, we buy every year the family pass for the whole season for 49 EUR and you can come as much as you want, which makes the entrance fee very reasonable.

This park is at located at the end of the treetop path Saarschleife. In my opinion it is a bit on the pricey side. I believe we paid 20 euros for the family ticket (2 adults and 3 children). Children over the age of 3 were required to purchase a ticket to enter. The play equipment is varied and well maintained. There are zip lines, slides, climbing structures, an in-ground bounce thing (I am not really sure how to describe it but the kids were jumping on it like a trampoline), etc. I didn't take very many pictures because I was too busy chasing after the littles, but there are a lot of things for the kids to do. The bathrooms are right at the entrance. There is also vending machine there stocked with various teas and lemonades. No food that I could see.The exit is at the second level. You can also receive a stamp at the second level to exit the park and go to the free section. The free playground has two really large metal slides, a seesaw, a swing, and a play structure. If you don't feel like paying you can definitely still have fun in that area. Despite the price I think this would be a great place to take the kids, especially if you pack your lunches; you can have a picnic.
Tania D — Google review
Disappointing and expensive. The slide that our son of 4 saw from the treetop walkway was not even part of the playground. It was part of a cafe nextdoor. We paid 22 euros and when we walked towards the slide he liked we realized we were trapped behind the fence of the playground.

(Translated by Google) Saarstein Castle is a derelict hilltop castle on a mountain tongue above the Wellesbach Gorge. The castle was built in 1351 by Bishop Baldwin of Trier, probably in connection with the siege of Montclair Castle opposite. However, it is still standing, halfway, while Saarstein has practically completely disappeared. That probably says a lot about the siege. The castle was last mentioned in 1439 when it was owned by Arnold von Sierck; today only small remains of the wall and countless stones can be seen. Thank you so much for an AMAZING weekend! It was such a full and perfect minibreak, even if it is only an hour from Luxembourg. The spa area is beautiful and the breakfast were 7 stars worth, with absolutely everything imaginable on offer. So much to do in the surrounding area: The Saarschleife, great bike paths, watersports on the river apple picking in Merzig :) I will be back with my family for sure.

Nice and clean hotel with an indoor pool. The hotel has a bit old german style. And they have very friendly staff. The place is in a walking distance from Saarschleife ceolf so you may stay there and enjoy sunrise from the nice view of the Saar reiver. The main bad thing that they do not have any air conditioning or fans. So in summer it is extremely hot. Even in the conference room. The restaurant is expensive and the food is well looking but not exceptional just fine. Small portions and they asked if we need more. However desert was amazing. I was on cpany trip but if I would alone I would not find it a value for money.

Visited Fährhaus Saarschleife in July and had an enjoyable time. The waiter, Yazan, provided exceptional service with his attentiveness and knowledge. A definite standout! I liked the atmosphere of the location and the waiters were friendly as well. Nevertheless, the main reason to visit a restaurant is the delight enjoying a tasty meal. Unfortunately, this experience was dreadful. Really bad quality food, overpriced and, for God's sake, small portions. Folks, if this establishment is meant to survive: better quickly improve in your main assets or the course of this "Fährhaus" will run aground within eyeshot.

The good - seated quickly, friendly Kellnerin, food came out quickly, onion soup was tasty. The bad - different menu in person than on the website, gravy for roast beef was mostly likely from a packet/can, roast beef was not the cut of meat one expects with roast beef, potatoes fried in too much oil, and rigatoni tasted as if it was cooked hours prior and left to warm. Both entrees were well over-priced for what we actually got.

The Experience Center of Villeroy & Boch is a small but charming museum located in an ancient abbey. It offers a fantastic environment to learn about the history of porcelain and admire beautiful decorations. Visitors can explore the brand's historical review, including a video presentation in English, and witness how ceramic products are made. The center provides an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself in ceramic heaven, where history, form, and function converge in a ceramic format.
If you are a fan of this brand or someone who is interested in the history of a porcelain Factory, then this is the place for you. Absolutely Exquisite and delightful tour through the history of the company. Outside of the museum are wonderful restaurants and an outlet so you can buy their were lovely product. Kirche St. Lutwinus

4.7
(59)
Catholic church
Kirche St. Lutwinus is a beautiful and inviting church with many intricate details to discover upon closer inspection. It serves as the parish church of von Boch, featuring porcelain Stations of the Cross and a stunning mosaic-adorned choir canopy. Visitors can also experience impressive Easter masses with Latin readings and exquisite choral singing. The church's historical significance adds to its appeal, offering a serene atmosphere for prayer and reflection, especially during festive services such as Christmas midnight mass.
(Translated by Google) I find this church particularly interesting. From the outside it is very attractively designed and looks typically like a German church. But its special charm lies hidden inside. To me the church looks very Mediterranean. The absolute highlight for me is the ceiling design in the choir room of the church. The design with Venetian gold and glass mosaic reminds me of many old Roman church buildings. But the entire interior with the extraordinary floor covering with Mettlach tiles and mosaics made from Mettlach clay stick material is also unique. The entire interior design clearly shows the influence of the town's largest company, Villeroy & Boch. I think without the company's generous support at the time, Mettlach would certainly not have received such a wonderful sacred building. Original quote from a church guide "The construction work was in the hands of the Villeroy & Boch stoneware factory". Other features of the church that are worth seeing for me include the altars, the pulpit, the stained glass windows and especially an extraordinary terracotta Stations of the Cross. The wall mosaics on the two side altars are also remarkable. In addition to the many mosaics, the many colorful pictures (I don't know if they are frescoes) depicting the life of the church's patron, above the arches of the central nave, give the church a special charm. In my opinion, the entire decoration of the apse, the vaults and side walls of the choir with many special (Venetian) materials gives the church its extraordinary character. The church windows are also exceptional. After the supposedly particularly colorful and original church windows were destroyed during the war, they had to be completely replaced after the war. This resulted in the unique choir windows and the large portal rosette with alabaster panes from Volterra. According to church leaders, these are completely unique north of the Alps. I didn't particularly notice these windows inside the church; it was only when I looked from the outside that I noticed their special feature.

(Translated by Google) A really beautiful church that, on the one hand, appears simple but on the other hand, if you look closely, it reveals many very beautiful details. You can tell that this is the von Bochs' house church: the Way of the Cross in the church is made of porcelain, the choir canopy is decorated with a wonderful mosaic. Very presentable! The highlight was an impressive Easter mass, which was partly read in Latin and accompanied by wonderful choral singing. St. Gangolf is a charming church located in a rural setting, featuring a beautiful interior and a melodious organ. It offers serene and pleasant masses, making it a "magic place" that exudes peace and tranquility. The church hosts services on Sundays and public holidays, creating a sense of community akin to a family. With sensational church music and familiar hymns, the atmosphere is truly special. Additionally, the idyllic surroundings make it an ideal location for unique wedding celebrations.

I recently visited this small, charming spot that's perfect for summer. I’m not typically a beef fan, but their smash burger is one of the juiciest and most flavorful burgers I’ve ever tasted. The prices are friendly, making it an excellent value for the quality. The fries are cooked to perfection, crispy and delicious. It’s a delightful place that has won me over with its amazing burgers and great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Very delicious handmade burger, all the ingredients are fresh and of good quality. A small suggestion is to add an option for whole grain burger buns (handmade 😉)

My wife and I were visiting Saarburg for the weekend, and after a long day of sightseeing, we were craving a good burger. We decided to try Burgerbar, though honestly we were a bit skeptical – being from the US and having had some disappointing burger experiences elsewhere in Germany. I’m not exaggerating when I say this is the best burgers I’ve ever had. These burgers easily beat anything back home in America. My wife ordered the sweet potato fries and I went with the onion rings, both were absolutely perfect alongside our burgers. We enjoyed it so much that we will now make the hour drive from our place whenever we’re in the mood for a really great burger. Highly recommend!
Christopher M — Google review
Food was delicious, service was quick and friendly. Besides the burger the mango ice tea was also great. Parking is right underneath, you reach the restaurant by little staircase. This restaurant was a suprise for us and when we are back in Germany sometime we will definitely visit again.

I'm not a typical burger fan but the Burger Bar was recommend by a local so I decided to check it out. Boy, was I in for a wonderful surprise. I got the spicey Speedy Gonzales burger and it was good! The meat was top, the sauce, the presentation. Simply delicious. Burger Bar takes burgers to a whole new level. But it doesn't stop there. The nice and spacious terrace is also a big plus but what really sets this place apart the owner's attention to the well being of his clients. Aided by his young and friendly staff he's actively out there to make sure everybody is getting top-notch service. A friendly chat with his patrons or bringing out food and drinks himself, he leaves nothing to chance. 5 stars are really not enough to rate a surprisingly wonderful experience. Check out the Burger Bar yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Nestled in the enchanting landscape of Mettlach, Gästehaus Schloss Saareck is a charming guesthouse that exudes historical elegance. Housed within a stunning castle built in 1903, it features delightful antique furnishings and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding park. Just a short stroll from the Villeroy & Boch Discovery Centre, this fairy tale-like retreat sits across the Saar River from the former Benedictine abbey.
A very lovely hotel. Tasteful decor, very elegant breakfast porcelains. It's a historic building, so the floor in the hallway might be a little squeaky but cannot hear from inside the room. Restroom in the hotel room is clean and modern. They provide good quality toiletries. It's hard to reserve a room here. I checked multiple times started couple months before my trip, then finally found a room available on the night before departure. Friendly staff. I definitely recommend.

Stunning location, astonishing building and friendly staff - brilliant place to stay. Peaceful and comfortable, Christian and Zora made us feel especially welcome and at ease. They both spoke excellent English and created a happy relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent and set evening meal was great. What’s more, it’s dog-friendly and our spaniel loved the location, the extensive grounds and the chance for a dip in the river. The history of this building and evidence of the Boch family, it technical skill and manufacturing is apparent throughout but in an understated way. They cater for weddings and large groups so it can be busy during the day but quiet in the evening. As a result there is no restaurant during the day and there is no evening menu choice.
Paul G — Google review
This is a big old castle, its very pretty, but we didnt have such a great time there. Some of the staff should simply not work in the hospitality industry. To say that the staff were not kid friendly would be an understatement. Do not bring children here.

Location/building is great but staff can vary between very friendly/helpful & quite rude. The room we had was of a good size, quiet with a very comfortable bed but no facilities included (tea/coffee/biscuits/air-con/welcome info/fridge/safe).

Is the best experience ever. We book a room for our wedding and I fell in love. Since that time we come over very often. I've been a lot where in the world, but this is my favorite place! Service, atmosphere and the quality of food and overnight is gorgeous.

We booked a suite here for couple of nights in Falls. The Castle itself is really beautiful from inside out. The breakfast was stunning, as well as quality of the hotel restaurant in general as we also had diner in hotel. Service was good, but should be more friendly.
H N — Google review
Been there on a wedding, truly amazing setting. Food and drinks were very good, staff is polite and welcoming. It’s the perfect place to get married. Unfortunately the really beautiful rooms are surprisingly noisy. You literally here every door opening and closing. Normally we sleep like stones, but it was really really loud. Not everything authentic is good I guess… so 2 stars less. Breakfast was great again, nothing to complain, everything high quality.

An old and impressive castle which was built in 1902-1903 by the Boch family (Villeroy & Boch) and has a rich history. The castle is the official Villeroy & Boch guest house since 1954. The rooms are spacious and clean; though they like amenities such as a coffee machine or even a kettle. The staff are very gracious and professional! The castle is impressive from the inside and outside! Breakfast is very good! This is definitely a place to come back to!

We had the dibblelabbes and a season special, pork medallions with mushrooms. The dibblelabbes were pretty good though far from the best I've had in Saarland. The pork was very tough though and the mushrooms were underseasoned. The service was also on the slow side, but that is understandable as there are a lot of tables.

Beer was good and that's about it... Service was incredibly slow and unresponsive. Even after asking for condiments three times, I had to get them myself from the kitchen. We asked beforehand, weather we could pay by card, which they affirmed. In the end the device was out of service, so we couldn't pay by card. The staff seemed very unapologetic about the situation. Montclair Castle, completed in 1439, offers a historical journey and features a museum. The route from the car park to the castle takes about 45 minutes, with a tour costing 2 euros per person. It's a small castle with a museum, and the walk from the parking lot is approximately 3.2 kilometers. Visitors can expect a hike of about 45 to 60 minutes from the parking lot to reach this beautiful historical site.

(Translated by Google) It's a shame these castle ruins used to be a really nice place to go for a walk. Now the glass front and gates adorn the castle. As I said, the hike there was done in just under 40 minutes one way... Unfortunately, you ended up standing in front of the locked gates Otherwise the castle isn't really inviting either. Dagstuhl Castle or the Devil's Castle have more charm... And above all cheaper... Because original and free ;) the only thing that was annoying in my opinion was the 2 hour walk to avoid otherwise I would have done much better I would have been able to invest if there had been a sign with opening times. I saved 2 families from the children's gossip and said that the castle was closed. It used to be much more pleasant for a family outing. Unfortunately today it's just a disappointment :( (Original) Schade diese burgruine war früher echt mal ne schöne location zum spazieren gehen..

The hiking trail is quite good and leads towards Mettlach through the forest. But the other side is also very good to walk along the Saar. A really great route for people and animals. (Translated by Google) Bridge dilapidated and falling apart. No renovation work has been carried out so far. Life-threatening The bridge was renovated for more than 400,000 euros. That's what happens when incompetent people decide on the construction of such buildings. The community just complains and constantly makes everything more expensive. You should start with your local councillors. I have ZERO understanding because the bridge was also paid for with my money, twice. Thanks for nothing. (Original) Brücke marode und zerfallen. Bisher keinerlei Sarnierungsarbeiten vorgenommen.

Nice breakfast they have a buffet or you can order anything, it’s delicious but it’s only one person working or so it seems and it takes time to get your food on the table, despite that, everything was good!

Visitors praise the warm welcome, English menu availability, and delectable food, particularly highlighting the pork fillets, Wiener schnitzels, turkey steak, and flavorful smoked meats.
Don’t go if you wouldn’t like to have an excellent steak, beef or pork. Not that everything else doesn’t deserve to be mentioned. Highly recommended

Had a wonderful experience here, even if we were a bit on the clock. They do have an English menu for you and they are incredibly warm and welcoming. Boy oh boy is the food tasty. I've probably had one of the best pork fillets in the world here, but the Weiner snitzels and the turkey steak were fantastic as well. Everything down to the salad even were fabulous and perfectly cooked, yet tender and juicy. And I'd say the prices were more than great for the quality of the food and the atmosphere. Absolutely loved this place

Excellent experience! The meat quality and taste, incl. the preparation and the wood grill aroma, were OUTSTANDING! Defiantly one of the best steaks I have EVER had. The chef and the maître d’hôtel, who are also owners of the place, are extremely passionate about what and how they do. We've felt very warmly welcomed. All in all, Kaminklause is a MUST!

After a short looking on the net for a "different" restaurant in our area to celebrate our 22 anniversary, I found the Kaminklause, and directly I said this the one! With my wife and our daughter we got the feeling that we're in a family visit . A place where you can find smiles, delicious food and drinks, warm atmosphere, and a parking place for your car ... so honestly what we want more? Certainly we'll return back more and more. We recommend this restaurant!

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately disappointing – not recommended We visited the Bistro Alte Schule in Wehingen on recommendation, but were disappointed. The food was very bland and unconvincing – we had expected much more, especially for an Italian restaurant. The value for money was also not right: The dishes were simply not worth the price. We also noticed that Italian guests were given preferential treatment – they were served more quickly and received their food much earlier than others. The dining room is small and poorly ventilated. It was very stuffy, which made the stay even more unpleasant. Overall, unfortunately, it was not a coherent experience. Due to the disappointing quality, the uneven treatment, and the unpleasant atmosphere, we cannot recommend the restaurant.
