Garden visitor center with displays of parrots, plus a wooden enclosure for butterflies & turtles.
Good zoo with parrots, flamingo, kangaroo, capybara, ocelot, lemurs and giant turtles. Has an open space where you can feed and touch birds and turtles. Very good shady place for kids' entertainment, has a lot of obstacle courses. Parking is free, there are some snacks and a small cafe on the territory. Great attraction and fun. Very recommended for visiting with the kids.

Second visit in 3 years. Really nice place to spend time with various animals but beware the birds will sit in you and as I experienced this time pooped down my back and in my sons arm but laugh I certainly did. There’s a place to grab a drink and weekends they put in a show. The kangaroos are very nice along with the massive ginney pig looking animal and my kids smoothed them & they just loved there’s bellies being tickled.
A W — Google review
Even it's 25 year old, the park is fantastic and you are allowed inside with most of the animals. Some parts are a little work, but they try to keep up and are even constructing new areas for more animals. Do expect the birds to poob on you, if you let them sit. They were all well behaved and did not bite. So much fun and they all seem to be in good condition. Super great agility tracks for children from 8-15.

I love this place this was our second visit on our travels round Spain . My passion is birds & to see these beautiful birds so well cared for and looked after by such lovely staff is a joy. The place is beautiful and so much for kids to do as well. Being able to interact with the birds and feed them made my day. I have so many pictures & videos thus is a memory I will treasure always & we will return again & again when we come back to Spain I only wish we had a place like this in the uk . Thank you to all the amazing staff for caring so much for all the birds and animals. This place is a must see on your visit to the area you won’t regret it 😄😄😄🥰
Sue H — Google review
Our second visit this time in winter so no butterflies (too cold) but the bird enclosures are amazing to be able to see and interact with free flying parrots and parakeets and also Macaws
Gray W — Google review
A great day out for young and old. When you arrive and purchase your tickets you are given lettuce leaves to feed the tortoises. In the parrot part they come and sit on you for sunflower seeds and you can get close to the capybaras. The animals look well cared for and the park is open 11am until 3pm.
Karen O — Google review
Small in size but beautifully made. Especially for children. For our child the most beautiful is the capybara

The most beautiful animal park I've ever been to. If it were opened longer (and it wouldn't have been that hot) I could have stayed all day long.

Platja del Morrongo is a popular city beach in Benicarlo, known for its fine sand and clear waters. It's an ideal spot for families, offering swimming and sunbathing opportunities along with nearby restaurants. Despite being relatively small, it provides essential services such as showers, footbaths, and lifeguard assistance. The beach is well-maintained with new amenities added each year to enhance the visitor experience.

(Translated by Google) The sand is quite coarse, more "golden" than fine, which may be off-putting if you prefer the typical smoothness of Mediterranean beaches. I'm surprised they don't make any reference to or show any representations of the Iberian ladies, who are the most representative works of art, and possibly religious works, of this civilization and possibly of Spanish archaeology and art. The attendant at the entrance tells me that the exhibition is only about the Iberians of this area!!! It doesn't say this anywhere, not in the title, nor in the brochure, nor in the exhibition itself. What happened to the ladies? I regretted not being borned earlier to taste the rice here. I must say: this is it, the best rice that you will ever tried in your life. The onion gives the subtle touch of sweetness and well-blended into the rice; appearance is extremely simple but once you have a bite, you will feel thankful that such thing exist. The staffs are friendly and attentive, so you never felt being ignored. I highly recommended the clams and the ‘5 star’ rice; also, if you want to be more local than the locals, remember to scoop up whatever burnt part that’s left on the pan.(see my photo) If you are a nutrient conscious person, today is not the day for you to act Karen. Eat slowly and meditatively, it’s worth every bite and I think I’ve expressed myself enough. Will come again and again for my next trip to Paniscola.

Restaurant
San Rafael is a hidden gem that promises an exceptional dining experience, especially for lunch. The restaurant features a daily-changing fixed menu that offers incredible value for the quality of food served. Diners rave about the delicious starters and creative main dishes, particularly during artichoke season when seasonal specialties shine. It's advisable to make reservations or arrive early due to its popularity, but if you’re patient, the staff will accommodate you even on busy days.
We stopped at Sam Rafael for lunch and had a wonderful time. Staff helpful with menu (very little Spanish in our group) even though they were quite busy. The food was fantastic! Some local dishes were well appreciated. Wines also good!
Andrew R — Google review
Great restaurant which has an out of the ordinary menu option with more creative, less standard dishes. If the level of the starters (absolutely delicious) were continued for the main courses also, it would have been closer to 5 stars. Special mention to the owner who creates a positive and warm welcoming atmosphere.
Musters J — Google review
Lovely decoration is the selling point of this restaurant. We ordered the menu de verano which had several starters. Had we known that our children would have finished eating by the time the second starter had appeared we would have ordered something else. The starters varied in quality and were pretentious without really pulling off what they were trying to create (slow cooked egg was a half raw egg with tinned fish). The table next to us ordered menu of the day and had finished and were on the coffees while we waited. Their food looked ok and far less pretentious. The waiters were working really hard but there were too many customers for only 3 waiters. We wont be back there.
Alice M — Google review
I absolutely love this place for lunch. Their fixed menu for lunch changes daily and the quality you get for the price you pay is unbeatable. Try during the artichoke season to taste seasonal dishes. Be sure to make a reservation or come early because it's usually busy, but if you're not in a rush they'll make room for you.

What a great experience! This was my 4th Michelin star restaurant in Spain and didn’t disappoint. We were lucky and managed to book on the same day for Saturday dinner. The location is very random, but the parking is easy. There is space only for 16 people and 2 rooms, which makes it very chill. The food is served at the same time for all so be on time. The food is really the star - a very complete 14 steps tasting menu of fish and seafood only, including 2 desserts. We loved all of them, very fresh and well elaborated. Some people couldn’t finish as they were already full - so no worries about leaving hungry, it won’t happen. Also Raul made sure to receive us in person, and came to the room several times to check on the guests - was great to interact with him and ask him questions. We definitely recommend this experience if you are a fish/seafood fan!

The selection of wines complement the meals and helps to enhance your senses, his personalised meal description provides a complete luxury to this superior experience. I would strongly recommend to visit his restaurant to learn about the local food and to sample his culinary delights.

Wow... our meal was incredible from start to finish, with amazing seafood creations that were designed as an eight-part journey, with several mouth-watering and beautiful items at each stage. It was all the result of world-class craftsmanship, presented as a series of stunning dishes that we absolutely loved. And throughout, we were looked after superbly well by Raùl and Elia. Parròquia Sant Pere is a stunningly restored church that beautifully blends spirituality with artistic expression. The recent renovations have enhanced its charm, particularly through the exquisite lighting that transforms the atmosphere during various liturgical moments. Visitors can admire the breathtaking Cristo del Mar, which is visible even when the church is closed thanks to specially installed glass doors. This sacred space has become a hub for prayer and meditation, inviting all who enter to experience its rich cultural and religious heritage.

This attention to detail allows guests to truly appreciate how people lived in that era.

Casa del Marqués holds a special place in the hearts of the locals, especially for those with personal ties to its history. The memories shared by families, like that of my wife's grandfather who played with the Marquis himself, highlight its significance as a living testament to the town's heritage. This remarkable building is not just an architectural gem; it houses an impressive collection of ceramics that are so valuable they have even inspired replicas in prestigious museums like Valencia's National Ceramics Museum.

(Translated by Google) Why do the farmers come so happy? That when they come from the field they come singing They have already seen the fruit of their sweat... The arduous peasant labor germinated in jota from the hand of José Iranzo Bielsa and Marcelino Plumed in a sung tribute to this agricultural task that in Benicarló they decided to recognize as a sculpture, aware of the work that a prosperity sown from dawn to dusk costs, self-sacrificing in the elements, resigned to inclement weather, foresight even in the poorest harvest. Work that still today generates wealth through sacrifice: paving the fields, pulling hoses, collecting artichokes... and that remains as honest as it was then. Deserved statue. (Translated by Google) It's been a while since I've been so surprised. Because things really happen here. The unique menu clearly has a guiding thread that you can follow thanks to Pedro Bejar, who guides you throughout the meal. His philosophy is very Bulli-esque; it's no wonder he was at the El Bulli 1846 Foundation last year doing research for Ferran Adrià. Interaction with diners is very important to him; in fact, they're considered fellow diners, not customers. Therefore, to maintain that closeness, he opens the restaurant for only 10 people maximum, three or four tables, to accompany you throughout the entire gastronomic experience. Although he claims that the experience doesn't end with the passing of the dishes, but continues afterward.

(Translated by Google) Two of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. The waiter was very efficient, but the kitchen was jammed. Of everything we ordered, the bravas were the best. The Russian salad was a bit bland, and the calamari was nothing special. However, we had dinner on the terrace, located in a pretty square, where you feel at ease, reminiscent of summers of years past. I'll come back to try other things.

Great tasty, awesome food. The service was exceptional. The best we’ve experienced in Spain. The waiter was superb. The only sad thing was that we were there at our last day - otherwise we would be there more often.

The food and service was great. However when the bill came they did the stupid thing of asking me which currency to pay in. I always say euros to avoid rip off charges, but today I noticed the waiter has still charged me in GBP. So I have paid the fee and bad exchange rate. We were going to visit again but now we're not. Guys, you can play this stupid game if you want but all it gets you is a bad review and a loss of service. Maybe you need a bank that supports you as a business. I give 2 stars because the food was good.

We started at 10:00 a.m. We explained the exhibition and then moved to the village. Our guide provided a very good, engaging and entertaining explanation. We finished at 1:00 p.m. Not wheelchair accessible. We recommend bringing water and sunscreen, as there's no shade (just a small roof). (Translated by Google) Although called an Iberian town, in reality this complex of streets, buildings and warehouses surrounded by high walls and whose construction dates back to the 16th century. Goes. C was the most important fortress in the area in its time, where resources were stored for trade, both by land and especially by sea, with other peoples, probably Phoenicians, throughout the entire Mediterranean. Due to excavations in the 1920s in the adjacent quarry to remove the stone with which the ports of Vinaròs and Benicarló were built, it is estimated that approximately 2/3 of the town was destroyed. Luckily, however, and for reasons still unknown: a bad harvest, a decrease in commerce in the area, an enemy attack (unlikely cause) or simply a decision by the ruler in power, led to the sudden abandonment of the place, leaving it buried over the centuries and therefore preserved in a kind of time bubble. Except, of course, for the roofs made of organic materials, the rest of the stone structures as well as a large number of utensils were found practically intact and incredibly well preserved, including corpses. The history, not only of this town but of the entire area, is very curious, and I recommend complementing it with a visit to the MucBe (Benicarló Museum), where there is a floor dedicated to the Iberians, with pieces of all kinds and explanatory posters. The guide's explanation was very interesting and participatory. The visit lasts approximately between 1h45'-2h. I recommend not going in summer due to the high temperatures and lack of shade. Due to its terrain it is not suitable for wheelchairs. V a. Precio: 2 €

It is very well musealized and reconstructed, allowing you to see the different areas of the town, so that anyone, whether knowledgeable about the subject or not, can enjoy the enclave. (Translated by Google) We were on a very interesting guided tour that lasted approximately two hours. We took a short tour through the old streets of the village with small talks and stops to observe the details and imagine what everything must have been like back then. Thanks to the guide, we received a lot of information, which helped us situate ourselves perfectly and imagine what everything must have been like back then. Unfortunately, an old quarry destroyed a large part of the village, but they managed to stop it in time and were able to excavate and rebuild part of the old Iberian settlement. The site is easily accessible by car, although in summer, it is advisable to bring water and good footwear to avoid mishaps. A visit to the Benicarlo Museum exhibition is recommended to complement the visit and to see several objects that were extracted during the excavations.

(Translated by Google) Pablo Neruda praised in his Ode to the Artichoke that the morrilla there in the garden, although with a sweet and tender heart, dressed as a warrior, erect, built a small dome, and polished like a pomegranate, proud, one day, one with another in large wicker baskets, she went to the market ready to realize her dream; immerse yourself in a pot, undress yourself scale by scale and delight the palate of whoever ate it. In January 2016, at the roundabout on the CV-135 highway to Cálig, towards the El Collet industrial estate, this monument to the artichoke was inaugurated. Particular praise from the Benicarló city council for said vegetable. The execution was commissioned by local artist José Antonio Caldés. The work measures about five meters, weighs around two tons and is made of fiberglass. It is not in vain that Benicarló cynara has a designation of origin. And every year, in January, gastronomic days are held in the town, with popular tastings of all types of dishes made with "Garxofa". Restaurants also cook menus whose star product is the herbaceous plant in question.

Casa Fontcuberta is a true architectural and artistic gem located just a short walk from the train station. The house belonged to Salvador Fontcuberta, a textile businessman known for his large factory that provided employment to thousands of people in Benicarlo and surrounding areas. He was socially conscious in his treatment of workers but faced challenges that led to the downfall of his business.

Hair in food. Infact, MULTIPLE hairs in my food !!!! Not to mention the food smelt like toilet water. I really couldn’t make this up the waitress literally picked her nose and handed my knife and fork? Ridiculous. I couldn’t believe it !!!!! They clearly don’t wash their hands and the food prices are ridiculous, if your going there on holiday and they can tell your accent is different, they will give you a menu that has different prices on to the regular customers!!

This place has very bad customer service. The waitresses are very aggressive to the point that I would not want to visit there in the future. Furthermore, the staff was extremely aggressive towards me and my colleagues...maybe because we are people of colour. I have never experienced such outright racism in my entire lifetime.
