Zilt aan Zee is a charming beach restaurant located in IJmuiden, Velsen, Netherlands. The menu features delectable dishes such as tenderloin carpaccio and goat cheese salad, all made with homemade sauces, dressings, and soups using ingredients from their own soil. The owner is often seen fishing for sea bass and cod to serve fresh on the menu.
Our recent lunch experience at ZILT was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with a warm ambiance and a promise of exceptional cuisine. For our order, we opted for the Carpaccio with deer meat and the Hamburger. The Carpaccio was a revelation, showcasing the chef's expertise in handling deer meat. The slices were tender and flavorful, complemented by a delightful assortment of fresh greens and a perfectly balanced dressing. It was a symphony of tastes that left us longing for more. The Hamburger was a true testament to culinary craftsmanship. The patty was cooked to perfection, juicy and bursting with flavor. The toppings were fresh and vibrant, adding layers of texture and taste that elevated the burger to a new height. The bun was a soft, reliable vessel, ensuring each bite was a delightful amalgamation of flavors. The lunchtime ambiance at ZILT was both inviting and comfortable. The contemporary decor and thoughtfully arranged seating created an atmosphere that was perfect for a relaxed yet sophisticated meal. The attentive staff further enhanced our experience, providing service that was both knowledgeable and personable. In summary, ZILT has set a new standard for lunchtime dining. The meticulous attention to ingredient quality and preparation, coupled with impeccable service, make it a standout establishment. This is a restaurant that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone in search of an exceptional dining experience. ZILT has earned its place as a go-to destination for memorable lunches, and I eagerly anticipate my next visit.

Nice place for dinner after enjoying the beach. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The dishes we ordered were really good. One specifically was the spareribs where the meat was so tender and fell off the bones. The only negative is that we ordered a large bottle of water, but the bottle was tiny. It only filled 3 glasses.

Had the vega satay/sate. It's just some warmed up frozen veggie product, nothing special. Overpriced if you ask me. It's not bad, but for that price...
Kevin V — Google review
Nice and cosy place next to the sea. It has a lovely view and it's possible to sit both indoors and outdoors. Dogs are allowed inside as well. We were there for lunch on the 2nd Christmas day and even though it was super busy, the service was really good. The food was tasty

Okay place to warm up after a breezy beach walk. Friendly staff and good service. The price was a bit high, €18 for a carpaccio salad. The shrimp croquetttes on bread were small but delicious.
Bob V — Google review
Spacious place, super dog friendly, and good service with fast coffee, fast meal and fast payment of the check! A nice vibe inside and outside for the beach, and worth stopping at for a snack or drink before or after exploring the beach. I ordered: Gesmolten brie with noten, which I thought would be just a sandwich but this beautiful dish came out! Delicious. Will be back.
Rachel P — Google review
July 2023 Not the fastest staff but very friendly. Pricing still same, perfect for a beach. June 2022 Still a real fast service. Good pricing for at the beach. Staff not really friendly except the 'runner', he is smart and they should cherish him. Even a tip didn't get a response, smile or anything else. Old Nice place, good staff and even better 'manager' typical menu with beach prices.
Paul B — Google review
Good restraunt, especially for the choice in the surrounding area, good food, I would certainly recommend the chips, a definite choice for anyone they are very good! Good beach side views and a good crowd of people that come here, they have rain covers outside so weather isn't an issue, suitable for the whole family! One thing I would say, is that I would not be put off by the early closing time, when I came they stayed open a lot longer (an hour and a half or more) so I would turn up anyway regardless of the time! :)

Amazing place! Huge sand beach with a middle warm water, absolutely worth the way here and back from the city. I would love to have some shops over there to buy something for picnicking, but there is some cafe and restaurants over there in last case.

We arrived early for our boat for the northern lights Crews and so had plenty of time to walk along the Strand Beach and look at the North Sea. It was an excellent experience far too coldgo swimming. Additionally, there are a couple of eating places including a nice hotel nearby. A great way to start our cruise adventure.

Visited in May with our two dogs - The beach is not open to dogs april to october. When I visited there was plenty of parking (which you pay for - very cheap), the beach is very clean and although busy, you can easily find a spot for yourself. A great beach with loads of Cafes and cool surf shops.

You can spend lovely time with your dog on the beach. Bunkers and a park right next to the beach for a nice walk. Restaurant is right there for a coffee or cold beer, what else do we need?
Katrin C — Google review
The beach is wide. There is a parking and a few restaurants. Also there are bunkers in the neighbourhood. Generally nice area 🥇

beautiful clean beach that is absolutely HUGE with good options for food and cheap public restrooms.. also beautiful shells
Nadine S — Google review
I love this place. It is not crowded even in the middle of summer, large and lots of place to walk. Water seems to be clean. There are wild animals on dunes like horses and Dutch bulls. There are people surfing on waves. There is a great road for bicycles between dunes. Some people ride horses there as well. There are many places to eat and drink, even a shop close by. It can be accessed by bus 382 from Sloterdijk for less than 5 eur, 40 minutes travel, the last stop is by the beach.
Andrzej K — Google review
Great beach to walk the dog. Only watch out where to park with the zones. Some zones are cheaper than others. The beach club is great and allow dogs to be in there. Also they have a great Irish coffee. And food off course.

For the finest surf beaches in our country, head to the North Pier at Wijk aan Zee. This is an excellent location to gather and celebrate, offering everything you need for an unforgettable day. The laid-back atmosphere and sense of freedom are complimentary. Timboektoe beach pavilion offers a fantastic opportunity to indulge in delicious cuisine, relish beverages, and embrace life's joys. The new vegan dish on the menu is incredible. (Cauliflower steak, cherry tomatoes and fries on the side)

I waited an incredibly long time at my table for someone to take my order. When it finally happened, my order never arrived. Frustrated by the sheer ignorance of the service, I had no choice but to leave and find another place. (Monday and very few guests in the restaurant) Absolutely disappointing.

What a great place to eat, drink and enjoy life. Great choice of beers and wines. Don't miss their choice of natural wines. The burgers are delicious, the ceviche is as light as a summers breeze, and their daily menu is just like the whole place: made with creativity, love and passion. Thanks for having us here! 😘
Robin H — Google review
We arrived at the restaurant during a sudden rainstorm, and things were quite chaotic at first. We were quickly ushered in and told to wait for a table by one of the staff members, who said it would soon be available. However, a short while later, that same table was given to a local family, which left us quite disappointed. Thankfully, everything changed thanks to one exceptional staff member named Jip. She noticed the situation and went out of her way to help us. She rearranged a reserved table with a later booking time so our family didn’t have to stand and wait any longer. Her kindness and problem-solving really made a difference. Later, when we ordered ossenworst without realizing it was raw meat (which is difficult for the elderly in our group to eat), Jip once again stepped in and arranged a suitable alternative. Without Jip, we would have left disappointed—but thanks to her, our experience turned from chaos into something truly enjoyable. Thank you, Jip!

Forteiland IJmuiden is a fascinating underground fortress island that dates back to 1885, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich historical tapestry. Accessible by boat once a month, this unique destination features guided tours that explore various intriguing areas, including the gunpowder storage room and the dry moat surrounding the fort. While not all guides may speak English, the experience is captivating as you wander through soldiers' sleeping quarters and cannon placements.
Incredibly nice fortified island with a rich history. The island can be reached by boat once a month for a tour guide. Not all tour guides speak English. The tour is very nice an ld our tour passed by at the gunpowder storage room as well as the dry moat around the Fort. It is very interesting to see the places the soldiers used to sleep and the Canon places. Overall, worth to visit.

Paviljoen Noordzee is a delightful beachfront gem located on the expansive sands of IJmuiden aan Zee, open year-round for visitors to enjoy. During the summer months, its inviting terraces become the perfect spot to savor delicious meals while soaking in stunning ocean views. Many patrons rave about their experiences here, particularly praising the quality of dishes like kibbeling and schnitzels, which are said to be exceptional compared to other local options.
Anything we order here was surprisingly good quality, fast service, good prices. And we eat a few times. Ijmuiden Strand is the place to be if u wanna see the Noordzee, i pay €15 for full day parking, in Scheveningen was €39,50 and i get a really bad kibbeling. In Paviljonen the kibbeling was fabulous, schnitzel's too. Thanks you guys!

Took 50 minutes to receive the food from order. Fried fish was mushy. Omelette was ok, Schitznel was good. Fairly expensive, not great value.

Together with my friends we have been coming here for every week during summer for fishes, although we have tried cod in many places, we have never liked it as much as in this restaurant! Taste and atmosphere 10/10. Unfortunately, I rate it 9/10 overall because once we were a bit disappointed because the staff refused to take our order due to the high busy, but it is still worth going here!
Daniel — Google review
Food was really good and a good price for the portion you get, big to be honest. The location and the view are just a perfect complement. Lucky for us it was a sunny day, but I think for summer is a very nice option as the beach is not so crowded and the sand is nicer than in other popular beaches.

We have to wait extra 15 min because people from servis are from Poland, meanwhile when we were waiting for food came polish people and they gave them food that was prepared for us and they prioritize them. Such a disrespect!

Aloha Wijk aan Zee Strandpaviljoen is a delightful spot that perfectly blends relaxation with a vibrant atmosphere. Visitors rave about the super friendly service and the diverse menu, which includes plenty of vegan options. The cauliflower bites paired with crispy fries and vegan mayo are a must-try! With stunning views and cozy seating, it’s an ideal place to unwind with family or friends. Whether you're enjoying a delicious pizza or savoring dishes like ramen and organic beef burgers, every meal promises satisfaction.
Love this spot. Great relaxed vibe. Lots of comfy couches in the sun and more comfortable ones in the shadow on those really crazy hot days. So many vegan and vegetarian options. Feels like they really made that a priority here. Both for lunch, dinner and any snacks and pastries. And… friendly people all around!

Tasty and lovely food and staff. Ordering here is so easy, you only have to scan a QR code and select the food and order no staff needed.
Aqua S — Google review
Lovely (overpriced) spot with a wide food range but all the flies kept chasing us away, after we changed the table 3 times with our dinner. The “loaded” fried is just some regular fries topped with a few pieces of chicken.. this place can do so much better!
Chichi — Google review
This place - out of the two - has the most vegan options! Aloha is a cosy place with friendly staff and a nice view. My after surf cappucino was the best. Stayed for dinner and shared both the vegan burger and the tikka masala with "chicken". Both great. The gyoza's and harissa bitterballen as a starter were more than satisfying. For good food and good vibes, go to Aloha.

Great location, good variety of food and drinks which can be ordered and paid through the QR code, perfect for an end of the day drink while watching the sunset. Well protected by the wind! However don’t expect much from the service (no one really welcoming you or taking care of you during your stay).

Amazing place! Cozy and chill atmosphere with a great view. They serve really nice food and drinks for good prices and good portions! Got a really good pizza salami and it's was one of the best pizza's I have had for quite some time. Nice place to relax with friends and family. Its always busy but not too crowed, after my opinion - but could imagine that it can be to much for some people on the really sunny days.

Fish & chips restaurant
Kop Van de Haven B.V. in IJmuiden aan Zee, Velsen, Netherlands is a true haven for those seeking a delightful maritime dining experience. Surrounded by stunning waters and the vibrant activity of shipping traffic, this restaurant offers an array of mouthwatering dishes that cater to every palate. From exquisite seafood options like fish and chips and sushi to hearty meat dishes and delectable desserts, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
The location of the restaurant is very nice. At the end of IJmuiden Haven. Hence the name, Kop van de Haven. I eat mostly at their snack area, not in the restaurant. If you have companies, eating in the restaurant maybe more comfortable. The service is quick. You can even place the order from the machine. Their fish and chips is my favorite. In Dutch, it's kibbeling. The chips are great too, it's not the thin version but the thick wide ones. The parking is just opposite of the restaurant. Maybe busy if it's at the period closer to DFDS check-in time. Yes, the location is next to Felison terminal, where the DFDS Cruise it taking passengers to New Castle. You can sit outside but beware the seagulls.

What a gem! Views of the ships and water all around with mesmerizing sunsets. Each staff member so friendly, attentive and professional from the moment we walked in. Food exceptionally good. Best fish and chips (lekkerbek) in the Netherlands for me. Chefs here know what they are doing ! What a restaurant. Keep up the amazing work.

Catch of the day - delishious seetong with baked vegetables I give 6 * The dessert lemon meringue and Coupe icecream with avocado I give 3*. Good parking. The best: big windows and all tables have a good view to the sunset and the entrance of the harbour. The best layout of a restaurant, different hight plateau to give all tables an excellent view.

The food was lovely, delicious. Lovely views over the harbour. The fish had no smell. The service was very slow and not that efficient. I have read other reviews, the menus are only in Dutch, it’s not in a tourist area but it is near ferry’s coming in and out. I would recommend but do not eat here if you are in rush for the ferry.

Best place in IJmuiden to eat a "broodje haring", a "lekkerbek" and or "kibbeling". I prefer to order takeaway and eat outside rather than eat in the restaurant. Very nice view of the North sea the lock and of course Tata steel industry.

Villa Westend, located just outside Haarlem, offers a diverse lunch menu with options for everyone, allowing guests to dine by the water even in winter. The restaurant also presents a special 4-course Valentine's menu for delivery, featuring a variety of dishes including seafood and red velvet cake. Known for its excellent service and friendly staff, this establishment provides ample outdoor seating with beach views and palm trees, creating a holiday-like atmosphere. Additionally, it boasts spacious parking and scenic walking paths.
First time in Netherlands and this restaurant was awesome. The servers were great. Great kids menus and the 2 people dinner was great price. The drinks were not as strong as I would like, but it doesn't hurt the atmosphere that the restaurant has in and outside. Our girls loved the spaghetti and they ate all of it. It's not a big portion but they usually don't eat all their food. The sauce for the spaghetti was great too. Got the appeltart for dessert and wish it was warm, but it was cold. Not sure if that's the way but it was still good. We had a great time here and only 20 minutes from were we are staying at in Netherlands.

We came here after a walk for drinks and some food. Only the drinks menu was available on the table. We asked for the food menu but the waitress forgot that so after some time waiting I had to pick up the food menu myself at the bar. We ordered cakes and were told 10 minutes later that they didn't have those anymore. A lot of waiting and in the end we just drank our beverages and left. Pretentious and pricey, which is fine but the service was not to that standard at all. First visit and last visit.

Just had lunch. Nice spot and could be a good local. Food was nice but service needs a lot of work. 3 waitresses just standing around, had to go up and get our own menus. Food arrived no cutlery, again had to go up and get our own. Asked for the bill.. same thing. Has the potential to be a really cool spot just recommend a bit more attentiveness from the staff.

In October we organized our wedding in this restaurant. We chose this restaurant because of its great location and nice decor. We thought that meetings and arrangements for the event were just a formality. Unfortunately, the arrangements were fiction because most of the situations that occurred made us realize that only money counts and not our wedding. First of all, we decided to decorate the wedding hall ourselves because I wanted to do it more elegantly. We were informed that we could start preparations the day before at 1 p.m., but each of us works and we arrived at the restaurant around 6 and at 9:40 p.m. we were informed that we had to finish because they wanted to go home. We begged for an hour longer and ran like crazy but we still had to change our plans for the next day to finish preparations. In response, we heard that we could ask earlier what time we could decorate. On the day of the wedding we did not know how long it would take to digest the wedding vows and the time was more or less specified. It turned out that the staff had not prepared anything, not even plates. They started an hour after the ceremony. When we finally managed to sit down at the table, they started taking orders for drinks, where it was agreed and paid for that everything, including unlimited alcohol, would be set on the table. And at 11 p.m. our guests were informed that there was no sweet wine and Wisky. Where unlimited was paid until 1 a.m. Also, several guests pointed out to the waitresses that they were given dirty cutlery. Also, one chair for a small child was agreed in advance, and we had to ask for over an hour to bring it. Additionally, we bought a double dinner so that the tables were full, and it turned out that the waitresses, while the guests were having fun, took them away from the tables at 9 p.m. and most of the guests did not even eat it. In the end, we received a packed dinner for over 40 guests. Also, when we asked for our cake to be served, the waitress was surprised what kind of cake? They did not even know they had it in the fridge. Also, the first dinner was to be served at 4:15 p.m. and the children received their first meal after 6 p.m. After the wedding, we wrote an email about these situations, but the manager stated that the guests were happy. We are disappointed with the lack of responsibility from the staff and this huge ignorance on their part. I am sorry but I do not recommend this restaurant.

Sema E — Google review
Overall a very disappointing and over priced experience. There was glass all over the floor outside (where multiple customers were walking barefooted as this restaurant is located on a small beach), and litter scattered all over the place which the wait staff seemed completely oblivious of. The toilet was not clean. The platter we received did not match the description on the menu and was, as a result, severely overpriced. It also arrived without any cutlery which was strange considering it is meant to be shared. And finally the service we received was neither friendly nor helpful.

This restaurant has been one of my favourite ones for years already. The service is great and friendly, great variety on the menu. Outdoor sitting is just perfect. Lots of space on the beach and palm trees make you feel like being on holiday. There is a big parking space and nice paths to go for a walk. Great location.

Nestled on the edge of a serene forest, Restaurant Boschbeek in Santpoort-Zuid offers a picturesque dining experience with stunning views of both water and woodland from its charming terrace. The menu is a delightful mix featuring various twelve-hour dishes, soups, omelets, scrumptious sandwiches, and fresh salads that cater to diverse palates. This eatery stands out not only for its delectable offerings but also for its warm and inviting atmosphere—perfect for enjoying meals al fresco.
This restaurant has a very nice environment to dine outdoor and the food was very tasty, specially the desserts brought the biggest surprise, would highly recommend the “Grand dessert” which you got a dessert combo a bit of everything, and they were all really tasty. The portion is big enough so you could share with others as well.

The food here was wonderful. We didn’t have a reservation but they were incredibly kind about getting us a table. We’re American tourists and they didn’t have English menus which isn’t a problem since you can translate any menu with the google translate app. Service was wonderful and the atmosphere was homey and intimate. I really enjoyed both of our meals! I got the salmon filet and my partner got the fish risotto and we split fries. All delicious!

Buitenhuizen (Spaarnwoude Park)

Park
Buitenhuizen, also known as Spaarnwoude Park, is a well-equipped holiday park located in the northern part of Holland near Amsterdam. The park offers various facilities and activities for both adults and children, including bird-watching opportunities and a nice playground. While it is situated under the approach runway to Schiphol international airport, making it ideal for plane-spotting enthusiasts, some may find the frequent low-flying aircraft noise disruptive.
It was really nice, peaceful and quite place. The house was really cute and cozy we loved to spent 4 days over there.

The game is fun.. But I think the paint balls are very costly and they have very confusing rules with their partners.. We had booked via their partners still they charged us more..

Went for a day sailing and the place seems to be alright. 😊
Raphael L — Google review
There is a festival in May taking over the entire area. I walk my dog there frequently and it is such a shame to visit after the festival. The amount of food and rubbish makes it a dangerous place for dogs, when all year round the park is an oasis for dogs and families alike.

Decent family friendly outdoors activities. We went canoeing and lying in the sun on a hot day. The water wasn't clean enough to swim in, but that didn't deter some of the kids there.

The place is great in the middle of nature, but that's some how a minus, there is no shops closer then 10km! So be aware and came prepared, at last for the first day!

Very friendly and good service. Food was delicious, didn't take long. Menu card as an app was only available in dutch, but the employees were very helpful and spoke perfect english. Sitting under the trees was nice, but with sweet drinks you could see a wasp/bee every once in a while. Restaurant is kid and animal friendly.

A place to avoid at all costs. I am not sure how this place has such a high rating to be honest. Our first (and last) visit on a Sunday, the food looked dubious but we chanced it and tried a burger we shared. The fries were undercooked the meat overcooked and waiting time was about 30min. We ordered drinks: half of the order (we were two people and ordered two drinks) was wrong and not replaced. I had not finished my big bottle of sparkling water and was prevented from taking the bottle with me. The manager of the restaurant went to even chase me down the street…saying it was forbidden…I offered to pay for the costs of the actual glass recycling deposit or to be given a container to take the water with me ( the bottle was almost full) to no avail - I was only offered two small glasses that didn’t close at 1 euro each… So yeah a place to avoid
Sarah — Google review
Had lunch at the cozy outdoor terrace. The food is tasty, and the portions are large compared to the usual small sizes usually served in Dutch restaurants. The order is placed via the website; unfortunately, it took more than 30 minutes to receive it. However, the drinks are served very quickly. By the time the food arrives, the drink is gone. It would be advised to serve food faster and coordinate the timing with the drinks better.
Eduard H — Google review
What a brilliant place for families... Plenty of menu options, ice creams and a playground with plenty of farm animals
David I — Google review
After 43 minutes of sitting at a table, after 20 minutes after asking for the waiter, he came and told us the kitchen closed 5 minutes ago. So, zero stars for service, zero for the food. Make sure you are seen otherwise you will leave like you came, without eating or drinking anything except tap water from the PWN pump across the street...

The ruins of a 13th-century brick castle built by William I van Brederode & surrounded by a moat is found in this town near the city of Haarlem. It is a beautiful and peaceful place, very child friendly, and everyone who was working at the Castel was extremely friendly. Really enjoyed time.
Impressive historical castle built in the 13th century. It's surrounded by beautiful trees that add to the beautiful scenery. They charge a €6 entrance fee. There is free parking next to the castle. At the entrance, there is a seating area in the shade underneath the trees. You can get something to drink such as coffee, tea, and soft drinks with apple pie. By car from Amsterdam, it's only 31 minutes. I found it worthwhile visiting, and I was able to take some great photos 📸 Before you go, check the opening hours and days of operation because they're not open every day.

Neat place to check out. About 20 min walk from the train. Has a little cafe there too. We enjoyed walking through everything.

A beautiful castle ruin! A visit is definitely worth it. A tour of the castle gives a wonderful insight into what medieval castle life might have been like. A knightly room has been set up, and there are numerous information panels. Great care has been taken to vividly convey the history of Brederode Castle. For children, there are costumes, hobby horses, and wooden swords and shields to play with. Our children had a blast exploring various areas of the castle, playing and running around. A café also offers refreshments. Restrooms are available. Simply a wonderful castle ruin!

A wonderful place to visit with family specially in a sunny day. Cozy and picturesque place. Notes: If you have museum card, it does not work here. This is an old castle which majority of it has been ruined. You should watch your steps on the stairs. Although only a part of the castle has remained, but still, it worths, giving a visit. A parking next to the site is available, if you go by car. And the route to this place is also delightful and charming.

From the woman at the entrance to the stuff around the castle, everyone was kind and helpful. English is not an issue at all! Castle is a must see, and a must hear! as the vibe around the castle is just amazing Doesn't take much to walk around it, is a quick half hour I'd say. Plus: they have some awesome kids' costumes and swords and helmets AND WOODEN STICK HORSES to just get right at the entrance for kids to enjoy the visit even more than adults!
Francesca P — Google review
This was a wonderful day trip location. We were lucky to have clear skys, so the views from the towers were beautiful. The grounds are lovingly maintained, the staff were knowledgeable and eager to answer questions and the historical artifacts were documented in English and Dutch. The castle was easy to find, has free parking and was definitely worth the price.

A really nice playground, even for children under 2. There's also a place to buy some ice cream and softdrinks. It's really worth the entrance. There are enough parking spaces next to the playground.

This is our first visit to the playground in 2023 ! We visited a few times last year and my son really enjoyed playing there. It was crowded today ( Sunday ) but there are chairs which you can take and find a good spot to sit under the sun or shade ( there are lots of trees). It's a good playground with lots of rides for kids and it is managed really well. You can spend your entire day here with you kid and I can assure that you kid will have fun. There is place to park you car or bike outside and the entry fee is literally nothing ( euro 1.25 per person I think ) Over all it's a good place if you are looking for a good playground for spend some time during the holidays.

The best burger I've had in this hive of villainy. Great service and even better prices. Don't miss out on the 3 quid monster ice cream cone. If the sun 🌞 is out you can enjoy your fries while being surrounded by pigeons and with any luck one comes close enough that you can give them a gentle kick with your boots. Really keeps you alert while they try and steal your food. Genuinely though top burgers and service with a 😃 smile.

Beautifully presented and the restaurant is nicely decorated. (Original) In eerste instantie was mijn indruk goed, omdat ik hier eerder had gegeten. Reservations are recommended, as several foodies have already discovered this little restaurant.

Brasserie Hoeve Duin en Kruidberg is a charming spot located at the edge of the national park zuid-Kennemerland, making it an ideal place to relax and enjoy some quality time. The cafe offers a delightful menu with options like local Santpoorts bier, smoothies, homemade ice cream, and basic but good quality food such as bitterballen, kroket, fries, burgers, and salads.
Great place to have ice cream and let children play. The grass area is amazing: it’s big with plenty of toys for the children (e.g. big chess board). There are good sitting options (even in a shadow or under a tent). Staff is friendly.

Brasserie Hoeve Duin en Kruidberg is a very cozy nice place. Especially with beautiful weather the experience is fantastic. Although the menu card is quite small, the food quality is very high. The service is very kind and helpful. Really a nice place to visit after a walk in the dunes for a drink and a bite...

Great little surprise at the end of a 10 km walk through the Dunes. A little weird we were told to take a seat and that they come to take our order only to wait another 5-10 minutes – it was not busy. At all. Ordered a flat white – as an aussie, this is my barometer for a good cafe. It was good. And they take cash. Great view; nice, relaxed atmosphere; friendly staff; huge sandpit for kids to play in with toys provided – huge plus! The only drawback was that the footstool in front of our lounge chairs was not actually a footstool. Shame. The non-footstool was a very comfortable footstool. While the prices for coffee were a bit painful at almost 5 euros, sadly that’s pretty average these days. Very nice they included a little cookie with it though. We’ll be back. 😎👍🏻

This is the most unfriendly place I’ve ever been in the Netherlands. If you plan to go there, do not bother. They have 100 different rules, how to order coffee, is different then drink, you cannot order food depending on the place you are seated, and if you want to use the toilet after 17:00 you will be kicked out by an old angry woman. Other than that, I place one star for the location, very convenient when you go or coming back from a hike.

My son absolutely loves the tractor play park and we have always looked forward to visiting. The outdoor setting is fantastic for children to explore and play. However, on our last visit, we were extremely shocked and disappointed by the behaviour of the owner. She shouted, threw a chair in anger, and made inappropriate remarks in front of my children, forcing me to walk along the road with a newborn and a screaming toddler. As a new mother - this was so upsetting and unprofessional, and clearly not the family environment we expected.

Can't say much about the food, as I only ordered " bitterballen " and beer. Which was adequate but probably not representative of their wider range of menuitems to be had. I was not concentrating on the food tbh. Nice family friendly atmosphere. Service is via a digital menu and very quick.

Cool shady spot to take a break on a hot day. Nice playground for kids with farm toys, chess game and cows to pet. Plenty of seating but could see this a busy place with good weather. Lots of bikes and horses pass by as the park has some nice horse trails next to national park zuid-Kennemerland. Our server was friendly and prompt, didn’t try the food though. Good local Santpoorts bier.

Great place to sit down, have a brew and enjoy a snack. Close to the Santpoort train station, the Estate of Duin en Kruidberg, and the 13th Century ruins of castle Brederode. Santpoort station is easy to reach, about 30 minutes from Amsterdam, change trains in Haarlem.
