Once you're near, follow the signs for the national trust parking, as there are several entrances. Its £17 per adult, National Trust members are free. Parking is free. Toilets available. Cafe. Book store. Small shop. The grounds are massive, with many many walks to be had, and you can walk even further through fields. The walkways are wide, and well maintained. Good for buggies.. This is one of the biggest National Trust places Ive been to, and an excellent choice for walking.

WOW. Amongst the amazing treasure the national trust recommends, this was top of the list! The gardens, the monuments and the actual house were just mesmerising. We loved our trip and the whole vibe was just so peaceful and scenic. We didn’t see inside the house as we have left that so we can come back and explore it! We didn’t explore the gardens and the views were just breathtaking. I highly recommend visiting! And can I just add the amount of amazing fruit trees littered around are beautiful. We did pick some fruit (no signs to say we couldn’t, sorry!) Amazing day out

Beautiful landscape dotted with monuments, temples and statues. Be prepared for a lot of walking on rolling undulating paths and grassland. It’s 800 metres from the cafe/shop just to the parkland entrance. Good shoes are essential. Lots of photo worthy views round every corner. The cafe serves excellent coffee and has a good range of savoury and sweet treats. Also an excellent second hand bookshop.

Vast grounds, lush green scenery, and lots to see. In one corner about a couple of miles there’s glorious and historic building of Stowe School that offers information and display about the 300 years old dynasty and how they lived lavishly. Entry to the Stowe School building is £9 pp and must be booked in advance as it’s not a National Trust building. There are various statues, temples and old buildings in the vast grounds that are worth visiting. Plenty of walk and plenty to explore.

Beautiful gardens and scenic vast gardens. The house is additional ticket over the national trust ticket you purchase. There are plenty of big walks to take and enjoy the lake that has a lot of algae and lotus.

Lovely gardens and great facilities. There is a really lovely cafe and shop at the visitor's centre. Very family friendly and a gorgeous walk.

Stowe House boasts a rich history spanning over three centuries, evolving from a manor house into a grand estate renowned for its architecture and landscape design. Featuring in productions such as: The Crown, X-men First Class, Stardust, Indiana Jones and James Bond, Stowe has a number of blockbusters, dramas, and documentaries to its name. We really enjoyed it, being National Trust members we booked the tour for free the day before, you do NOT get to see the whole house as it is a working school, with offices, (don't let this put you off) you can book to see it on the school holidays if you wish, but visit their website before you go not to be disappointed. What you do see is amazing, and the guide was great 👍. If you plan on seeing the gardens, be prepared for a lot of walking, they are amazing as well and worth it though.

Ok. I think it's quite nice, but let's get the bad stuff out the way first. The entrances, and other areas of the park/house are very badly signed...we found ourselves driving down to the entrance of the School, not the House. The car park we parked in does not have an obvious entry and the exit is one way, so we had to break the rules....😵 There's a small "museam" area which doesn't really have any info on what is on show, you just look at it and there's a very hidden bookshop that's easy to miss. Second bad thing, the Cafe and the Shop are extortionately priced, with 2 ice creams coming in at a whopping almost 6 pounds and they could have been better, however there is a wide range of confectionary, cakes and other food items on sale. The shop has some very interesting and coveted items, but a fridge magnet was roughly 3 pounds. However, there are various interesting landmarks and statues around the (incredibly long) walk (again, no info about them or anything) but are incredibly photogenic and most of my photos I've put here. There was a nice lady on the tickets desk who was very helpful explaining the map and sorting us out with our ticket. The actual Stowe House and Boarding School is situated around halfway round, and has cricket grounds, a marquee, and a cafe open to the public. There are some incredibly cute swans who have just had ducklings (20th May) I recommend this place, just get some good walking boots and a map!

Very friendly, helpful staff, who couldn't do more to go out of their way for our visit (we had a wheelchair user). Beautiful rooms. Nice to see a working school around the historic rooms.

I visited on a Monday as soon as they opened. It was fairly quiet. The gardens are run by National Trust but the house is run by a separate charity, the Stowe House Preservation Trust. So NT members do need to pay for house admission, but they get £2 off. So NT folk pay £7.50 instead of £9.50. Very welcoming and helpful staff on at reception. There are about eight rooms upstairs that are open for the public to access. Stowe House has pupils from the school boarding here, so those areas are not accessible. Downstairs there are the Welcome Centre, Discovery Centre, the Egyptian Hall and a comprehensive exhibition of maquettes by the sculptor David Wynne, which is well worth viewing. I saw his River God sculpture in Newcastle recently and there is indeed a maquette for this included in the exhibition. The rooms are awesome and the ceilings breathtaking. The Marble Saloon is just stunning. It was definitely worth visiting. Fascinating place.

The Old Gaol is located right in the middle of Buckingham. There is a nearby car park which is cheap to park in. I believe this is the only museum here in Buckingham. Stairs involved. No disabled access. The Old Gaol combines a museum about Buckingham. You can enter several of the gaol cells which now has exhibits. There is information about The Salvation Army and a room dedicated to Flora Thompson, both on the ground floor. Toilet facilities available in the basement. This is a small attraction and shouldn't take you more than 45 mins to look around. Also opposite the front reception is town information office.

Well worth a visit. Very informative staff, great information at hand and a easy visit. Loved this town and the Old Gaol.

The Buckingham Old Gaol is a real gem for history lovers. The exhibits are well presented, with plenty of interesting stories about the building’s past. Staff were welcoming and happy to answer questions. A great way to spend an afternoon.

I found this museum when reading an article about the half angel gold coin there. As a coin collector and lover of history I had to go and wasn't disappointed. Lots to see and very cheap in my opinion. The staff were all very nice. The kids enjoyed it. I'd go again

Beautiful building with a lot of history, not the biggest of places but some great displays and lots of information boards. You get to see the layout of the gaol and cells. Lovely friendly staff, a little gift shop on site. Entry fee very reasonable £4 an adult. For parking I advise using the car park by Waitrose, it is pay and display. Prices are reasonable and the gaol is a 5 minute walk. Definitely worth a visit.

A fascinating compact building. Showing history through time from earliest settlements through to WWII & even tv & film connected to the area. A wealth of information. Set within the high street you are able to grab a drink & a bite to eat. Also a market held there too right along side the gaol.

The old Goal Museum is a hidden gem in the heart of town and easily accessible to all. Although it's a small museum but it holds a treasure trove of old and historical artifacts, showcasing the rich heritage of the local area and its residents from bygone eras. What makes this museum even more special is its family-friendly atmosphere. It's an ideal place for a day out with children. They can learn about the history of the area while having fun. Parking is a breeze, thanks to the nearby Meadow Cornwall car park located behind Waitrose offering budget rates. So whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking for a lovely family outing the Old Goal Museum is well worth a visit. 🏛️

Still thriving, some interesting shops, and one of two hardware shops in Buckingham (remember them from t'old days?) which both seem to be doing OK. Deduct a mark for the small river of raw sewage after heavy rain between the hair salon and the cafe. Landlords take note, needs fixing...

Visited this little shopping arcade on a sunny weekend and was pretty impressed. Lots of non-chain shops, cafes / eateries, which is always nice.. Next to a big supermarket and plenty of parking. Had a nice lunch and an ice cream, and lots of green areas around to walk it all off after. There are toilets and EV chargers too. Only 4 stars as there was a bit of rubbish about and wayward trollies.

Nice centre, not many shops, but large Waitrose. Had a nice cup of coffee and piece of cake in a cafe I can't remember the name of, something Tea Rooms !!. Well priced.

The car park charging will stop me coming here from now on. Short sighted by council's always wanting to screw the public and at the same time screwing the retailers. Very short sighted.

Small shopping centre. Waitrose super market, a charity shop with a good selection of DVDs. Picked up the full set of extended version of Lord of the Rings in preparation for the Amazon prequel. Tea and cakes at on of the cafes. Parking nearby. Should have made use of the BP chargers while I waited.

Really welcoming, friendly staff. Not much in the way of history (there wasn't a guidebook and not much to look around). Really nice tea and cake though 🎂☕. 2nd hand book shop nice, good choice of books 📖. There is parking🚘 by the local supermarket. If you are already in the area it's worth stopping by.

Rather over-enthusiastic guide (I suspect he was bored) who greeted me when I came in and then talked at me - very knowledgably - for what felt like a very long time until I had to stop him by saying my brain was full. It was a shame as I'd really wanted to browse the bookshop but ended up wanting to get out of there. Building itself is interesting and learning history, albeit in a smaller dose, preferably, was also.

The Buckingham Chantry Chapel, the oldest building in Buckingham, has a rich history as a hospital, chantry chapel, and school, before becoming the property of the National Trust. It was originally established in the late 12th century as part of St John's Hospital for the poor and infirm. Later, it was converted into a chantry chapel and then became the home of the Royal Latin School. The National Trust acquired the chapel in 1912 and now operates a second-hand bookshop, tea coffee and cake, not much to look at on the inside really, still a very interesting building. Yes the volunteers do seem to be a little overwhelming when you go in, I think they are just glad to see someone. Free entry to everyone, only open certain days and hours, so check.

Nice place to stop for a coffee and a piece of cake, peruse the many second hand books on sale. This is a 15th century chapel with Norman influence in the structure which was restored by Gilbert Russell in 1875 and is now owned by the National Trust.I believe it is the oldest building in Buckingham once having been a school, hospital and church. The staff are very friendly and will happily tell you about the history of the building. Parking is non-existent so you will have to find somewhere to park nearby and walk there.

Friendly atmosphere for relaxing with a hot drink or browsing second hand books

This chippy is bossing it! I ordered a large cod, small chips and a curry sauce, came to £13.60, which is ok if you are used to London chippy prices. The small chips was a good portion and probably more like a medium and the curry sauce was served in a cardboard cup the size of what you would have a standard coffee in! The chaps in there were pleasant to chat to. Proud to be from the beautiful island of Madeira as the photo collage proves. I loved the cod, was a good standard and decent chips too. I only wish I took pics of the meal. Just a heads-up, cash only but there's an ATM at the Post Office nearby. I would definitely recommend!

I love everything about this place. The best is their all day breakfast. It’s my usual. Love Debby’s mom who is very friendly and welcoming. Such a quiet place out of the hustle and bustle in town but right at the center of the town so it’s easy to get there. Don’t go there if you are in a hurry, cos good things don’t come quickly 😉 Also, forget everything else and just enjoy the time.

Tricky one to review this. Let's get the negative out of the way. Do not eat here if you are in any sort of a rush. 10mins before anyone came to the table, 20mins before we got a drink, an hour before we got food. The counter to this is the staff are really friendly, the value for money is crazy and you really do get lots of food! Could be brilliant but the wait was just too long.

This place is the best value for money for breakfast! The women running the place are fantastic, friendly and can’t do enough for you. Ginger biscuits served with the hot drinks reminded me of visiting my grandparents. Felt at home straight away although we’re from out of town. Thank you for a lovely morning :)

This is hands down the best fry up I have ever eaten from a cafe before, home style mums breakfast, portions are huge and quality of food is top notch, you can always tell a good breakfast by the sausage and these sausages are delicious, Wish we lived near as we was only passing through but if you get the chance to go here you won’t be disappointed

What a stressful experience just to order a roll! Two people before me were stressed with the owners/servers not understanding English. Having to repeat several times and then still getting it wrong. Ours was simple...chicken, cheese lettuce roll. I didm't want the other stuff. Repeated it to them twice because he repeated back to me incorrect. It was so bad in there I coupdn't face ordering the other rolls. I paid and left....got to car...no lettuce. 3 ingredients I asked for just 3. Will I go back ?? Hell no !

Website literally states 'With all the fresh veggies and sauces you like.' When it came to finish creating my sandwich I was told that I would be charged extra for sauce. Having never experienced this before over the past 20 years of being a Subway patron I raised my concerns that this was not normal. I was told by the member of staff that the store manager had instructed them to charge extra for sauces as the cost of ingredients had increased. I asked where this charge was shown to customers and I was told it was not on display anywhere but they add it through the till. Not prepared to pointlessly argue any further and not wishing to have my sandwich ruined, I accepted the surcharge under duress. I then continued to payment when I realised that total did not add up to what I was expecting. When I requested the breakdown I was told that their fountain machine was not working and they were charging me extra for a bottled drink which I did not want, request or was not even told about until I queried the total. I tried explaining that I did not want a bottled drink and especially at an additional cost and their machine being out of order was not my problem. I was told there was no other option but to pay if I wanted a drink. I am incredibly disappointed by the service I received today. The receipt shows I was charged for a 'sauce dip pot side' £0.40. I did not order or receive any such 'dip pot' of sauce. I was also charged extra for a fault of the stores not having a working drink fountain. I feel have been mischarged under direction of a store manager who is looking to take advantage of customers to boost their profits.

Staff not particularly friendly or helpful. Too busy arguing with each other than helping customers. Staff didn’t change gloves between meat and vegan orders, and were dropping bits of meat into the salad containers.

I visited today with my little girl, we queued and were going to order, she was just looking at the crisps when a member of staff went off at me for not keeping my distance, although their was only one person in front of us, the store was otherwise empty and we had masks on.Instead of telling me politely he chose to give me attitude so I responded back even more harshly, which my family had to witness.Not what I wanted for on Easter Sunday but he left me with no choice.I did not expect this at all especially in Buckingham, I was only visiting for the day. If the manager of this store is reading this can you have words with your staff on how they talk to their customers.I will not be going back there ever again even if I'm on the brink of starvation, unless I get some form of apology.

Wonderful restaurant, top quality food, quick service. I ate nachos, Jamaican lamb curry and churros for dessert, and all of them were fantastic. I travel a lot for work and this is quite possibly the best lunchtime meal I've had in all my travels. Would love to have stayed in Buckingham longer to sample more of the menu!

Carnitas has become our local go-to place this summer. Every single time, whether it was brunch or dinner, the food was fresh, very well seasoned and varied. Staff always friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

This is one of our usual places to go to when we feel special about something. This time we tried their burgers: chicken and pulled beef. The service is always great and same with the atmosphere. It’s wasn’t too busy when went around 7 pm on a Friday but could see it was getting busier as we were leaving. Wheelchair access is available. A must try!

If you haven't been, you NEED to go.... Food was amazing and atmosphere was wonderful. Thursday's are tapas night 3 plates for £19 and absolute bargain!!!

Great restaurant! Excellent service, food is very tasty and enjoyable. Only criticism is portions are a little small but we did do Tapas Thursday, so that’s to be excepted. Would definitely come again.
