Very friendly staff and informative tour. Tour was in Spanish (as expected in Spain!), but Mar left time for my partner to translate for me :) Beautiful grounds, which we were free to explore since we were staying the night. Rustic bedroom, with a comfy bed. Nice having the option of using the communal room downstairs. And access to more wine :D

What a fantastic place! The wine tour led by Jesus was truly amazing; he shared the story of this special winery with great enthusiasm. We’ll definitely come back here.

A good experience and a great time in the vineyards with wine tasting and a tour. A small hotel with a few rooms, parking and lots of wine. Very nice staff. The only thing missing is a kitchen, but you can go to the nearest city. Overall, we liked everything.

Last week, a group of friends and I visited the bodega and had the pleasure of taking a tour with Jesús. I can wholeheartedly recommend this bodega, Jesús explains everything with such enthusiasm and humor, which really helps keep you engaged. The wines we tasted were absolutely amazing!

The place is amazing. Very good wine and service.I did not use the rooms but if everything is good then it has to be good as well.

I ordered a box of wine, after a really nice wine tasting. Unfortunately the wine was never delivered and emails and phone calls remain unanswered. Very very poor customer support. I lost not only a considerable amount of money I also could not give a good friend the wine present I had planned. Too bad!
Ireen — Google review
We had a lovely stay at the vineyard. We were a little nervous booking an independent hotel in a foreign country, but everything worked perfectly and we have really enjoyed our stay. Maria who greeted us and gave us a tour was friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. The wine is excellent. The rooms are very nice as was the breakfast. There is a common room with a pool table, and several outdoor areas to relax or have a glass of wine. We enjoyed walking among the vines in the morning. There is a nice hiking area very close at Atrafal, we did a hike we found on All trails. One note about the general area: there is limited availability for tastings and restaurants early in the week. And they observe siesta more than in the big cities, so plan accordingly. Highly recommend.

We had a very nice tour and tasting at this bodega, Jesus can explain everything very clear and his English is very good. He even turned water into wine!

Bodegas Hispano Swiss is located in a fantastic area, offering a true taste of local Valenciano wine country living. The comfortable suites and delectable food provided make for an enjoyable booking experience. The detailed wine tour offered by knowledgeable host Rafa allows visitors to understand the property's philosophy and history. While Cavas are the standout option, there are other intriguing wines available for sampling as well.
Definitely a 5-star experience!. Rafa our host for the tour was very knowledgeable and we got to taste quite a few of the wines, all of which were superb. The evening meal was excellent and the suites were very comfortable.

Murviedro - Bodega Histórica is a charming winery located in the old section of Requena, off the main square in La Villa. The interior design is thoughtful, with glass staircases and raised boardwalks allowing visitors to view the caves without walking directly on the earthen floors. The tour offers an exploration of the caves and a chance to learn about the old wine-making process, including sampling an immature wine to compare its flavor with aged ones.
Incredible visit with wine tasting! Patricia was our host and she was extremely nice, patient and knowledgeable. We tried a rosé, a white, a couple of red wines and wrapped it up with a Cava. Cherry on the cake: we were given each a wine glass and a bottle as a souvenir. We ended up buying 6 more

Beautiful setting in the "hidden", old part of old Requena. Degustation available of 5 wine. Reds exceptional - especially the Monstrell. Friendly staff from the beginning. The guided tours looked interesting and enjoyable. Stay at the hotel in the gorgeous square and enjoy a day or two tasting the very best that Requena has to offer .

Such a memorable & fun experience visiting the wine caves, learning about wine & tasting some. They also gave us a bottle of red & a wine glass as a gift at the end of our tour.

What a wonderful blend of wine tasting and history! This place is located off the main square in La Villa, the old section of Requena. The way they’ve designed the interior is really thoughtful- glass staircases and raised board walks allow you to view the caves without walking directly on the earthen floors. During the tour you explore the caves and learn about the old wine making process. You even get to sample an immature wine to compare how the aging process changes the flavor. The tour ended in a tasting session upstairs. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re visiting Valencia.

I booked this tour nearly 2 years ago before the pandemic began as a Christmas present for my mother. When Covid hit, I had to postpone it. They were very understanding and gave me a year’s extension until the end of December 2021. Unfortunately with the covid rollercoaster my mum wasn’t able to visit us until May 2022. I asked the Bodega if we could sort something and they were very understandable and gave me an exception :) It was an amazing tour - a great cave with so much history! I would definitely recommend the premium trip for €15, 5 wine tastings, lots of different meats and cheese to try, and a free bottle of red when you leave! Amazing value for money. I will probably come back here with my dad! Thanks so much Ana and Patricia! 🍷🍷❤️

Great great wine tour. Super good wines, and a highly knowledgeable, fun and kind guide, Anna. Generous with the quantity of wine. A wine experience with a historic twist due to the underground caves. Loved it all the way. If you are in Valéncia I recommend to the do the tour "Combina con Vino" which is amazing and takes you there and back 👍😎🍷👌

Coves de la Vil·la, also known as Cuevas de la Villa, is a series of interconnected caves that offer a unique underground experience in Requena. These caves were historically used for various purposes such as storage, wine making, cellars, and even as a graveyard. The constant temperature of around 15-16 degrees Celsius makes it a pleasant escape from the outside weather.

Nestled at the beginning of Arrabal Avenue, Fuente de los Patos is a stunning and elegant fountain that captivates visitors with its intricate design. Adorned by three majestic Himalayan cedars and a striking red spruce, this fountain boasts an impressive height that adds to its charm. Interestingly, while the figures depicted are swans, locals affectionately refer to them as ducks.

I was especially impressed by the ECO olive oil, which was recognized as the best in the world and received more than 80 awards. It was a real experience that you can't get in a regular store. I express my deep gratitude to our guide Yana for a fascinating excursion, for interesting knowledge and for the many gifts that we were given in Requena winemaking. I also purchased some items made from natural silk, which amazed me with their weightless lightness. We were very pleased with the experience, brought home many unique products that cannot be found in regular stores, and truly enjoyed every moment of the excursion. Thank you very much! If you're seeking a winery to visit in the Valencia region, Chozas Carrascal is highly recommended. The property boasts stunning grounds that offer numerous opportunities for photography. The interior areas where much of the wine production takes place are impeccably designed. The tour guide, David, is exceptionally helpful and accommodating, ensuring a seamless experience from start to finish. His enthusiasm for the wine and its creation is contagious.
Very beautiful wine farm, with small wine label museum, excellent views, perfect host with good explanations and story telling. Wine tasting of 4 different wines from light and fruity to more body and spice, mix of Cava, white and red, truly an experience, we'll be back.

We arrived on a Saturday without a reservation and we speak just a little Spanish. But Jana took such good care of us. She gave us a private tour as English tours are during the weekdays. She brought us all throughout the property and inside the buildings explaining about the family and about the wine making. Then she gave us a wine tasting that included a cava, 2 whites (we bought the Las Tres) and 2 reds. She also gave us servings of different salamis, cheeses, bread with their own olive oil (we bought this too), walnuts, and dark chocolate. It was a highlight of our trip to the Valencia area.

Do yourself a favor and if you're looking for a winery to visit in the Valencia area arrange a visit here. The grounds are stunning, with plenty of great photo opportunities, and design of the interior areas where so much of the 'action' happens is top notch. Our tour guide, David, was amazingly helpful and gracious both arranging the tour with us at the last moment and during the tour itself. He had a clear passion for the wine and the process of making it here that is infectious.

Also, I ordered a tortilla sandwich with chorizo, and they put slices of chorizo instead of sausage, which is logical for the municipality where the restaurant is located. Initially I thought this place must be spectacular! Full , full, full of people. So we thought, this is the place to be! We ordered menu of the day. Wine, 9 out of 10, bread 9 out of 10, and the rest?....average, not more not less....average. We payed around 10 or 11 euros for the menu of the day. Not bad to be honest.

The building appears mentioned for the first time in a will from 1659 and indicates that it could not have been the Cid's residence. It is believed that the name is due to the fact that the house stands on the site that belonged to the Cid's residence. It is known that it has been dedicated to the production and conservation of wine. Its large ashlar façade, semicircular door and powerful voussoirs, windows with ogee arches and its well-carved noble shield stand out. Inside, the hallway with coffered ceiling, the access staircase to the first floor with railings and a balcony with turned bars, and the deep well are preserved.

Ascend the steep pathway to reach Torre del Homenaje, an imposing watchtower erected by the Moors in the 10th century and later renovated by Christians in the 15th century. Positioned at the inception of the historic center, this remarkable military structure can be admired for its grandeur. Notably, at its foundation, one can spot iron bars that once confined prisoners during periods when this tower served as a prison.

Bodegas Lupanda is a small winery with a lot of charm that comes highly recommended. Visitors are encouraged to try their wines and cavas, which are of exceptional quality. The guide, Lorena, is praised for her extensive knowledge and the enjoyable experience she provides. The winery features stunning wine caves and well-maintained wine vats. Additionally, the family-owned establishment offers a unique experience with its cave where the wines are stored.
Lupanda was really amazing. There is such a quality to the wines and cavas; our guide Lorena was extremely knowledgeable, kind, accommodating, and easy to organize with. The wine caves are stunning and the wine vats are in remarkable condition. They made it easy with our dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten) and were so flexible with our changing schedule. We got a crash-course in *how* to taste wine as well, which was extremely useful for some in our group. Lorena was a fabulous hostess and guide! I will bring all of my visitors here!

Authentic local, family-run bodega. The guided tour by Lorena was brilliant: passionate and informative. The wine tasting included delicious meat and cheese. They provided an alternative for our vegetarian friend.

Nestled in a charming corner of Spain, Restaurante La Cuchara offers an unforgettable dining experience that has quickly become a favorite among travelers. Guests rave about the perfectly cooked meat dishes and the incredible croquetas de boletus, bursting with flavor. The cozy ambiance and delightful decor create an inviting atmosphere for both couples and groups alike. Patrons appreciate the attentive service, where staff members are not only friendly but also passionate about their craft.
Nothing short of amazing! Happened to come across this great family owned restaurant by way of local recommendation, they walked us right to the door and even though it was closed, the owners opened their doors and served us drinks until the kitchen opened. Fresh fish, lamb & the best steak cut. 4 adults that highly enjoyed not just the delicious food but also the pleasant atmosphere and the very reasonable prices. It is clean & absolutely a must for us! We WILL BE BACK! Mulțumim din suflet, mai ne revedem curând 🥰🙏🏼

Where do I start… the place is located in the old part of town which is a great location. Service is friendly, but there needs to be improvements. Family owned (couple) and they are trying to manage serving food, taking orders, cooking , taking customer request…. Too many things going on at once at the cost of your customer service. They are under staffed, service takes way too long especially when you’re waiting for your food… I don’t know where to start. I ordered the octopus, and lobster with rice and a plate of muscles, all the food is definitely fresh, but the rice with lobster was mediocre ( for a person who loves eating rice). It was slightly salty and the worse part, the lobster was cut wrong 😮😑. As a tip to the cook, even cooking with lobster, there is a way to cut it, and the way it was done unfortunately ruined my experience eating that dish. At one point I felt I was eating sea food and having to use my fingers constantly, stained in artificial saffron… I was annoyed, I had to request a pair of of crab crackers in order to access the best part of the lobster… you would think that they would offer this knowing that the lobster wasn’t cut in a way where a fork could be used to pull the meat. For the rest of the food it was average, nothing too special and for the price, not sure if I could justify 25€ per person to share a poorly cut lobster… Do note, the arroz con bogavante must be minimum two people, can’t do for one person. The waitress was trying to serve 5 other tables, while taking orders, serving and unfortunately just was not able to service her customers with the proper attention… hope fully these suggestions will make the experience better for others!

Traveling in Spain for almost three weeks, and this was easily in our top three dinners so far. The croquetas de boletus were incredible, and definitely the best croquetas we’ve had, so full of flavor. Same with the anchovies on the salad, so fresh. Thoroughly enjoyed the chuletas de cerdo, and the tarta de manzana. Small and cozy, the service was very good. We’d stopped in for drinks, and our server kindly explained the tables are for dinner only. We’re so glad we stayed. Absolutely recommend! Note, this is called Restaurante La Cuchara. The older bad reviews must’ve been under the ‘simple’ name. Google should get updated.

Restaurante El Yantar Mesón La Villa, located in Plaza Albornoz, is a traditional restaurant featured in the Guia Repsol. It offers a focus on chargrilled fish and meat dishes served in a visually appealing setting. The restaurant caters to all dietary preferences with options for vegans and vegetarians. Additionally, couples can enjoy a romantic evening in a secluded cave corner. Guests have praised the food-price ratio as being very good, although drinks are not included.
Great place to go for lunch. The menu del dia was a good value for the price. Huge portions and good flavors. Vincente was our pleasant server and was excellent at bringing out the courses at the right time ! I'm glad we chose this place after a suggestion from the lady at Pago De Tharsys where we went wine tasting. The dessert was a coffee flan, and it was light and refreshing with a good crunch !

First off, the service could use improvement especially the older guy. Most of his team are only attending a few table without observing the rest of the crowd. I had to flag the the older server a couple of times to get our order. Secondly the food is average had the emperor fish, and cod (bacalao) with a salad. It’s the second time I’ve eaten here and I’m still torn about it. Waiters are very friendly and courteous however I think they could focus on the small details like bringing back out leftovers… had to ask them to bring it back to us … once again the small details

Booked New Year’s Eve lunch online, hoping the terrace option was an error at nearly freezing. Greeted by one charmless server who passed us to another who took us to a shady table outside, under plastic awning away from any sunshine. She dumped the menus on the soaked paper tablecloth and returned inside. We found the seats also covered in very cold water. No attempt was made to make us comfortable or serve us and we ended the year without lunch. I don’t think hospitality is their metier.

This is an excellent restaurant located in the historic part of the town. Driving there is an adventure! The streets are narrow and you will be unsure if you are on a sidewalk or a street! LOL But, it is truly worth the adventure! The food is incredible as well as the service and atmosphere. This is where you go for excellent local products prepared perfectly in a very warm and comfortable atmosphere.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like MUSEO DE SISTERNAS. Not quite as popular as Cuevas de la Villa, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Juanan and Joaquin were extremely kind to us and gave us a tour of the museum before we embarked on the escape room. The MUSEO DE SISTERNAS is highly recommended as it offers a wide variety of ancient tools used in agricultural fields, along with the fascinating wine-making facilities and an impressive collection of vintage tractors. This museum provides visitors with a unique opportunity to explore the historical artifacts that played a significant role in past farming practices.
We had a really great time at the Museo de Sisternas. The group was divided into two for our visit (there were 41 of us, English-speaking pensioners) and we all found it extremely interesting and educational. We would loved to have spent so much longer there as there was so much to see in the maze of rooms as well as outside! The wine and tapas were excellent, so a huge thank you to you both for looking after us all so well! I would highly recommend everyone to visit the Museo de Sisternas. Angela Chantry, Javea U3A

(Translated by Google) I went to the Winery-Museum with my partner Lorena and my in-laws, since a relative who lives nearby (Cases de Cuadra) told us that it was a very nice place to see. Father and son attended us (both Juans), informing us of the entire history of the Winery, from his great-grandfather, his grandfather and his father, showing at all times each stage of wine production, the utensils used over time. , how people lived in those times......and with everything I saw, many memories of my childhood in the town, in my grandparents' house in La Mancha, came to mind. It was a fantastic visit!! Apart from everything used to collect the wine, treat it and produce it, there were all kinds of everyday belongings donated by individuals to the Museum. Both Juan and his son are charming people and incredible guides (Juan Jr. enjoyed learning from his father and told us anecdotes about each room). They informed us that they also do escape rooms (we will return, because my son loves them) and at the end the tasting with a variety of local wines (white, rosé, red and cava) that varies with each visit, accompanied by fuet, cheese and donut-type sticks so as not to catch you with an empty stomach. To summarize, thank the family for the incredible visit and explanation of their family legacy and its maintenance (something not easy) and I certainly recommend it to everyone. Also worth highlighting is the incredible collection of bottles of all types, brands and eras... I didn't have time to see them all!!

The truth is that we were expecting something simpler and it was great!! We had a great time and the people in charge of the activity were very friendly and explained it very well. Attentive at all times. We tried several wines that were very good and the escape room was fun. It is not of a very high level if you are used to doing escape rooms, and it is in a rural house, so the atmosphere is different, but seeing the context it seemed well prepared. Lovely little winery run by a lovely family. We turned up not telling them we don’t speak Spanish and they were accommodating. Had the son video call us (who speaks perfect English) and give the winery tour. Can’t speak more highly of the wine and the makers. Ps don’t do what we did as the son can be there to give the tour in English.

One of my favorite winery visits ever. The owner has a long history in the region's wine industry, and was incredibly engaging and informative about their wine. His family has a direct connection with the vines that are the source of their wines, and it shows on and in the bottle. They are very focused on the local historical variety (Bobal), and the wines we tasted were a great representation. We bought a case and will be back for more!

BODEGA HONDA de Vera de Estenas, located in Requena, is a fascinating underground winery that houses ancient amphoras dating back to the 13th century. This remarkable place offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience time travel as they explore the heart of the neighborhood. In addition to its historical significance, BODEGA HONDA also offers wine tastings of their exceptional wines from Vera de Estenas.
When you are done with your wine tasting at Vera de Estenas in Utiel, be sure to ask about continuing your wine tour in nearby Requena (10 min drive away) at Bodega Honda. They will take you to these nicely preserved caves/winery and give you a nice tour. Very cool to see- definitely recommend!

It is only opened to the public when an activity or exhibition is scheduled there, hosting very varied events throughout the year. The large central nave allows you to place a stage and chairs for many attendees, as well as place display cases and exhibitors or simply clear the area to achieve a large space. The building, which also has a very evident heritage attraction, is heated with underfloor heating, very comfortable for the winter, and has sinks; in addition to other equipment that allows the cultural activities that I have mentioned to be programmed. Its Gothic façade is very striking on the outside or, on the inside, the cross vaults or the chapel of the Virgin of the Rosary, decorated with mural paintings that narrate two miracles of this Marian devotion and with some musical angels in the dome. Nestled just a stone's throw from Meson La Villa, Restaurante El Yantar La Cocina de Pilar is a culinary gem that has earned its Michelin Star through innovative takes on traditional Valencian dishes. The restaurant boasts an intimate atmosphere within charming cave-like surroundings, making it an ideal spot for a romantic evening. Guests rave about the exquisite flavors of the food and the delightful selection of local wines that perfectly complement each meal.
Thank you very much for the amazing service. All the recommendations were very nice and we absolutely loved everything. The presentation of the dishes, the friendliness of the staff. We’ll definitely come back!!!

This is a very, very good restaurant with a creative chef for sure. The food was amazingly well put together with a penchant for a flavor filled experience. The service was very good as well with kind and friendly staff. The atmosphere was 100% authentic with the whole cave dining experience. Now, the only thing that keeps this from being a five star rating is out of this restaurant’s control….the town of Requena was a ghost town when we visited. A lively, people filled atmosphere would certainly propel this chef’s restaurant and his menu to a whole new level.

This is a Michelin Star restaurant and was the worst experience we had during our recent trip to Requena. The restaurant was empty. A party of 5 inquired whether there was a table. The staff turned them away even though there was no one in the restaurant. Fortunately, we had. Reservation and though, initially the staff tried to send us away as well. We ordered a glass of Murviedro red wine. Both glasses of wine were at least 12C which was too cold. When we requested to have the wine replaced, we were told that it was so cold to control the alcohol content. We know wines and have had this wine frequently. It was unrecognizable. The salads were okay - nothing exceptional. The wait staff were totally absent except to bring our orders. My main course was not available. I then ordered the same main as my husband, the veal with sweet potato purée and potato straws. The potato straws consisted of 2 soggy potato chips. Both our meals were cold. Not hot, not warm, not room temperature but cold. We sent them back. The wait staff were put out that we were not prepared to eat cold food. The replacement meals were worse than the original cold ones. They tasted like they were a day old and had simply been microwaved. Neither of us could eat our meals. For a Michelin Star restaurant, the quality of the food and service were terrible, way below expectation. I am not clear as to how this restaurant earned its star two years in a row. We definitely do not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

I recently ate their and I’d say the food is good however the service was quiet poor. Their ceviche had great flavor, but the shrimp itself was boiled. Friendly staff but understaffed and the waiter was running around helping all the tables but not focused on the demands of each table. Small details such as replacing or providing additional napkins, having to request a bottle of wine... these are basic services that should be considered to every guest regardless of your busy or not. Basic customer service makes a vast difference in your experience at a restaurant.

Great location and great venue. The cave downstairs really is unique. However, the food is a bit average. The lovely piece of cod was accompanied by one cold prawn and a very sweet tomato confit (more like jam than confit). Great wine list though! After dinner coffees made in an Nespresso machine. No bread or water offered. Staff seemed a bit stressed. All a bit strange!
Dean B — Google review
The food was excellent. Unfortunately, the staff seemed harried and unwelcoming. We have very elementary fluency in Spanish so it was challenging to communicate but we had the feeling they were not interested in understanding what we were asking and thus not interested in taking our orders. There were 2 of us and the server took one of our orders then quickly left our table. We had to wait some time before she reappeared and we could ask about our other order. We were quite chilly and had to use blankets we brought ourselves. There was a heater set to a low setting by another table which did not help us at all and there was no effort by the staff to address whether or not we were comfortable. It is a charming and unique setting, dining in the cave. Access to the cave is down a long stone staircase with no handrail, making it risky for those with mobility or vision problems. We wish there was more or any attention to service. We would not recommend this restaurant in spite of the excellent food.

We had a lovely night. The food was amazing and the portions were very good. Definitely worth your money. On top of that the flavours were really good. We had the goat cheese salad which was the best goat cheese salad we’ve ever had. Also we tried the tacos ( could of used with the wrap being warm, but still good flavours) and the pan Bao which was delicious. As main we had the burger and the ribs which both were big portions. The burger was very good but we believe it had some smoked cheese or something smoky which over powered the burguer too much. The ribs were very nice and tender with there homemade bbq sauce made with cañamo honey. For dessert a beautiful Torrija with lemon ice cream which combined very nice. The waitress ,Sadet (not sure if its like that, sorry) that serves us was great and gave us very good service ,very friendly and attentive. Over all it was a lovely night and definitely coming back.

The goats cheese salad was fantastic. The place was nice. The service decent. The steak was not good and nor were the chips. The starters were huge so you shouldn't leave hungry.

Calarmars were magnificent. Lovely staff and the bar is designed so good with all the plants and it was very clean. You can wait to be seated because it is not very big, so go accordingly

Clean, good and simple restaurant. We stopped here for a quick lunch on our way for València. We took menú del día. On the neighbor table the locals had patatas bravas, big valencian salad and calamares ala romane. They looked even happier. Good value for money in a “boring” town known for good wine.
