Outdoor Activities
Lahinch Beach, located in County Clare, is a renowned destination for surfers due to its slower rolling Atlantic waves, making it an ideal place to learn the sport. The beach offers a beautiful and clean environment with great surfing waves. During high tide, the waves crash against large rocks, but as the day progresses, the beach becomes beautifully sandy. While lifeguards are present during summer months, visitors should be cautious during low season when no lifeguards are on duty.
We visited on a cool, drizzly day, but there were still people in the water! I'm sorry we didn't get to visit in the summer. It looks like a great place to spend the day. There are lots of shops and restaurants around.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Ireland. Refreshing and well facilitated. The toilets are clean and maintained. Has a lot of parking but is crowded.
Bhavya B — Google review
Beautiful, clean beach filled with surfers. Great place to go and relax
Brian W — Google review
Beautiful clean beach. They are strict with dog enforcement rules (dog warden is always out), and parking can also be a stickler here (traffic wardens are always out).
Teresa — Google review
Beautiful beach, clean water, big waves, safe to swim as lifeguards near. Lovely atmosphere.
Annuzja L — Google review
Beautiful beach with ample parking.. lovely path running along the beach.

Love this beach. Great for swimming and surfing. Close to restaurants and pubs. Love this place
M G — Google review
A beautiful clean beach with great waves for surfing. The morning there’s a high tide so the waves crash against large rocks but during the rest of the day the beach becomes beautifully sandy with waves for surfing. During the summer there’s a lifeguard but towards September onwards you need to be careful since this is the low season and no lifeguards are present. Next to the beach there’s a very nice hipster style cafe with healthy foods and drinks. There’s also a leisure centre, wall climbing, surfing lessons and kayaking. Beautiful area!

Good gym (2 floors) with sufficient equipments for general training needs. Day pass also available for (from memory) €12. It’s also at the famous seafront village which has some nice spots to explore/hang out!

Lahinch Leisure Centre is a fantastic facility — clean, modern, and full of energy. The pool area is excellent, with something for all ages and swimming abilities. The changing rooms were spotless, and everything felt really well looked after. The staff were welcoming and helpful, creating a lovely community feel. Whether you’re going for fitness, fun, or family time, it’s a brilliant place to visit. Highly recommended!

Gym is great with a fantastic view. Girl at reception was very helpful too but for the manager to ask us to pay an extra €10 after already paying for the day pass to use the pool shower is ridiculous.

Wonderful conversation from Seaworld into a leisure centre. Great use of brown space conversion for health and fitness. Brilliant for the community and family. Cardio section faces the links golf course.
Kwok N — Google review
Went swimming here. Staff were helpful and provided a pool chair to help me to the changing rooms. There is a disability room complete with toilet facilities and bed etc, however this was in use so I used a roomy family room to change. The lockers look a little scruffy ,some have doors missing and could do with a tidy up. You must wear a cap. There are showers which you pass and short few steps to poolside. We took the slightly longer ramp way. It was difficult for my partner to push me over the poolside drainage channels but no option. A very nice life guard helped me into the pool by a chair which lowers you in and out gently. There are lanes for swimming lengths if you wish. There is a child pool separate. There are aqua aerobics classes in winter here too. The pool also has sauna/ steam room. Check availability before you go as the pool is sometimes used by schools.

P Frawley's Bar is a traditional Irish pub in Lahinch that has retained its original character, with the owner preserving the historic paint on the walls. The spotlessly clean establishment is run by Peter, a passionate and welcoming host. The pub boasts a fabulous atmosphere and during the summer, it offers an atmospheric beer garden and food truck. Visitors can enjoy cozy evenings with traditional music and excellent wine recommendations from Peter.
We had a lovely time in Frawley’s pub over the weekend. I spoke to the owner Peter who was very kind and accommodating (he soundly allowed me to bring my dog along🙃) This place draws a good crowd, the staff working there were so, so friendly… and last but not least, the pints were gorgeous 🥰
Teresa — Google review
We had a round at Lahinch Golf club and one of the caddies recommended we head to Frawley’s bar after the round for a “proper pint.” We had the best creamy pint of our trip and had an absolute incredible experience. The owner of the bar, Peter, sat with us telling stories, and spent time explaining how to properly pour a pint of Guinness. Shout out to the locals who we had so much fun with, and to Thomas N in particular who could actually be the Irish Shivas Irons. This was a supper fun and welcoming bar where you can get a proper pint. I absolutely recommend to anyone in Lahinch.
Jay B — Google review
Visited last week while passing though and was delighted with the place . A proper original Irish bar that hasn’t been messed around with. Beautiful front bar and lovely pints of porter. Had a good chat with Peter, really enjoyed spending a couple hours there. Will certainly call again when I’m back down that way

P. Frawley’s Bar is a charming, cozy pub with a lively atmosphere. Enjoyed Smithwick’s and Guinness, with excellent service despite the bustling crowd. Truly unforgettable!

Definitely stop here for a pint or two! We stopped here after visiting the Cliffs of Moher, and so happy we did. Not only was the service wonderful, Peter was so helpful with some questions we had as travelers visiting Ireland for the first time (added bonus that it was the most perfect pour of Guinness all week, and allegedly the most perfect pour we will ever experience 😉).
Sara N — Google review
Cool and authentic pub! Had a great session going on in the side room with a good crowd. Got a chance to meet Peter and learn about his story. We chatted for a while about different Irish whiskeys and how he became the owner of the pub. Great guy who took the time to make our experience really great/memorable. Will definitely be back next time we come to town.

Lahinch Surf School is highly recommended for those looking to learn or improve their surfing skills. The instructors, particularly Pat, are praised for their patience, knowledge, and ability to provide helpful suggestions. The staff is described as friendly and accommodating, making the experience enjoyable for both beginners and experienced surfers. Additionally, the school offers a pleasant set-up and convenient booking process.
Great experience, very friendly. Patrick was very patient and interested in teaching my two girls their first surfing experience. He has ignited an interest in a new sport in them and we will be back. Everyone very warm and friendly. Highly recommend.

It was my first time traveling to Lahinch, and I was lucky to be able to rent a surfboard and wetsuit on the same day. There was a man maybe the owner or a staff member who was incredibly kind. He even took a photo for me when I asked, helped me carry the heavy board at the end, and showed me where I could take a shower. I’m really grateful for his warmth. Thank you for making my trip so special✨

I love these guys. Originally, I learned to surf in Cali but a move to Ireland and 3 massive leg surgeries put me on dry land. So at 50+ I decided to start again. Pat, Abbie and Stuart (and everyone else, Chris, Liam, Eddie, Richie & John) have all been unbelievably welcoming, supportive and helped me get better while never losing track of how important it is to be having fun, relaxing and enjoying oneself! Plus, even though I take weekly summer lessons, I’ve never felt judged and all paces of learning are encouraged:) So get your butt in a wetsuit and get in the waves with this crew. You won’t be sorry!

Excellent service! Unfortunately, I had to cancel my booking, but the person I spoke to couldn’t have been more helpful. He was incredibly accommodating, pleasant, and professional. Should I be in Clare again, I’ll definitely book a surf lesson here. Truly amazing service all round – thank you so much for everything!.

Brilliant way to spend a couple of hours in Clare. We went on a family surfing lesson — two kids (9) and (11) and an adult. It’s a fantastic experience. The teaching is very hands on and our instructor, Pat, got us out in the sea quickly to show us the basics and gave us plenty of one on one advice and teaching. He was fantastic. The two hours was well worth it and a massive highlight of the holiday.
Garreth M — Google review
We had a fantastic family surf lesson with John during the week. He was so encouraging and gave us all the confidence and individualised advice to be able to stand up on the boards and surf. Thanks John, we were all delighted with the lesson and lovely staff of the Lahinch Surfing School. Highly recommend!
Michelle B — Google review
As yearly visitors to Lahinch, myself and my 9 year old daughter are just back from our 1st surfing lesson. I dont know why we took so long to do it but will DEFINITELY be doing it again when we're back. Could not recommend Lahinch Surf School highly enough. Chris, our instructor was absolutely brilliant with my daughter and everybody in the group had the same high praise for him. He is an excellent instructor, very friendly and patient and great craic too. My daughter has found a new hobby and said the surfing was her absolute favourite part of the holiday. Thanks LSS!

Can't believe I hadn't noticed this place every time I've been to Lehinch. They have a great selection of vegetarian options on their menu. The food was fresh and tasty and service was great. If you're vegan, many of the vegetarian options can be made vegan. There is a lot of paid parking (timed) outside.

Please save your money and go somewhere else! We ordered the following dishes: - Garlic Hummus & Flatbread - The Cuban sourdough sandwich - Randy’s lemonade - Sirloin steak & chips The steak and chips were great, albeit the sichuan peppercorn sauce had no sichuan pepper and was not numbing or spicy at all, and was very thick and salty, with the consistency of cheap chip shop curry sauce. However that is where things went downhill, because every other item had problems with them. The garlic hummus & flatbread had the smallest amount of hummus I’ve ever seen served at a restaurant, especially considering it is the main part of the name of the dish. The hummus served would have only covered one of the sticks of flatbread. It was also bland, very thick and dry instead of being a dip, and onion & red pepper flavoured. The flatbread itself was raw in the middle, and tasted very strange. It also came with cold, mushy mushroom slices and with only two of the roasted pepper pieces that were advertised. The Cuban sandwich was also wildly different than what was expected. On the menu it says that it comes on sourdough bread with mature cheddar, pickled red onions and a chimmichurri sauce, however when it came out it appeared to be two pieces of toast, 1/3 covered in pulled pork and with no toppings at all. The lemonade also said that it was a homemade still lemon syrup with lemon & mint but ended up being a sparkling lemonade that tasted exactly like a bottle of lemonade from the spar up the road. To top it off, when we went to pay we discovered that there were multiple dishes added onto our bill that we never asked for, which we could have paid for if we were not paying attention. Overall we paid nearly €100 for food which left us all hungry and disheartened, feeling like we were taken advantage of. It is a shame because the location is very nice.
Stella C — Google review
Definitely the worse meal I’ve had this year. Shockingly overpriced for utterly tasteless food. It’s a shame to have such a good pitch looking out on the sea and then serve this muck to people. Do they even clean their fryers …. By the way the fries came out …. I doubt it The staff showed zero interest in actually serving. And fix the kitchen door that bangs loudly. Whoever owns / runs this place needs to go back to the drawing board or get out the business altogether.

Ordered two kids fish and chips and two full size fish and chips. After long wait kids chips came burned and dry. We had to ask to replace them. Food was below average, replaced chips were not even tasty, would not recommend. Photo is the full size of fish and chips, €18. Very nice cider and service though.
Mags P — Google review
Table was unclean and sticky upon arrival. Ordered kids fish and chips, kids goujon and chips ,nachos and the hummus and fltabread. After 20 mins the nachos and kids fish and chips arrived but no sign of the other 2 dishes. We asked where the rest of the order was they were unable to answer. It eventually arrived another 10 mins later. As one of the children was about to bite into a goujon ,I noticed it was uncooked. It looked like somebody heated it in a microwave and threw it on the plate. It was discoloured and raw on the inside. We asked for the manager ,who sauntered over after 5 mins ,and seemed disinterested in the fact they were serving raw chicken. At this point we just upped and left . Not the food and service you would hope to receive in such a great location on the promenade.

Absolutely terrible experience. Woman who served us arrogant, chewing gum, lack of interest doing job properly. Ive ordered pizza, to be fair - without cheese, i wanted it dairy free. But what i got was disgusting. Dough chewy, very oily, i couldnt finish it. Also everything overpriced. Staff didnt even bother to ask if we enjoy it, they probably know Its not worth it. To be fair - the male waiter was at least smiling. Try to avoid this place if you can!

Picked this spot as heard was dog friendly (outdoors only) Tried making booking and was told would definitely have a table outside as Tues night, but when arrived all were full as was nice evening. Was able to get a high bench spot and the floor staff were so friendly and accommodating Had the fish and chips (little salty), and couple of pints, with a view of the promenade, with pup at feet first, with water bowl provided.

Nestled in the heart of Lahinch, Raviolo Verde is a charming Italian eatery that captures the essence of authentic cuisine with a modern twist. This stylish restaurant boasts an impressive menu featuring around six pasta options, five fish dishes, and a delightful selection of pizzas alongside non-Italian fare like burgers. The highlight here is undoubtedly their signature ravioli verdi, crafted by skilled chefs who infuse traditional recipes with innovative flair.
The food was really really good. Loved the pizza even the coffee was fantastic. Keep it up guys.

This was some of the best Italian pasta dishes we have ever eaten, I had the spaghetti bolognese and my partner has the seafood linguine. The meals were so delicious that we asked for extra bread to mop up the sauce afterwards. The portions are generous that you will be more than satisfied and are very reasonably priced. Truly impressed by this place, the staff were welcoming and friendly. Would recommend to anyone.

The restaurant is well located in the centre of town and a popular spot with locals and tourists alike. The menu offers a good selection of dishes with about 6 pasta dishes, 5 fish dishes, non Italian dishes (burgers) and a very wide selection of pizzas. Our waiter was very friendly and service was excellent. We all opted for pasta dishes and all were excellent. We found all the dishes pretty expensive for pasta with most of them costing around €18. I had the spaghetti pollo and it was a little heavy on cream and light on the pollo. It would also have been nice to have some bread before or with our meal. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and we will probably return for pizza before we leave Lahinch.

We came on a weeknight, no wait. Pizza was perfectly cooked (thin and light crust) with lots of cheese. The homemade pasta was excellent (not dense like store bought pasta). Service was very good. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews!

Stopping over Lahinch for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised here! I ordered a tagliatelle bolognese and it was exceptional! The pasta was hand made and it was light and not starchy. It was easy to go down. The bolognese sauce was good and wholesome. If there was more shaved parmesan that would have been even better. My partner ordered a margherita pizza and again i was surprised - the dough was light and almost fluffy... the crust was crispy but not hard and there was ample cheese on it. Fair prices as well! Would def recommend!

Had a nice dinner here one weekday evening. The food was very good and reasonably priced. We all enjoyed our pasta dishes. Service was good as well. There are around 8 tables on the ground floor and we didn't have to wait for one to be free.

Total ripoff takeaway. Ordered the wonderful sounding vegetarian pizza,,16 euro..hello. Asked for extra time to go have a pint. I'm thinking, they taking advantage of customer having too much drink on board. Which I didn't. I expected a reasonable good Vegetarian pizza, basically got a Margarita, ie, belly full of cheese Check out the pic posted. Really tired of pizza outlets selling rubbish at ridiculous prices.

The Corner Stone Bar and Restaurant is a popular spot in Cork, offering a wide variety of menu options suitable for vegetarians and kids. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it an ideal choice for visitors staying nearby. The service is quick and efficient, with the bangers & mash and fish & chips being particularly tasty choices. It's also a great place to stop by during a road trip or after activities like sea swimming.
The lady behind the bar was super nice, the server however had an attitude. I get it, I've worked customer service for 15+ years. You're in one of the most beautiful areas in the world, starting work midday. Relax. You have a good life. We just came in quietly and placed an order but somehow we were a problem. The food was good and not pricey but after my hubs told me what the server said under her breath, we wont be back! Sept 16, 2024.

I tried the fish and chips but lacked flavor, in my opinion. I did eat most of it, though. My husband had the beef stew, and he said it was delicious! The service was very friendly, and the establishment was cozy. It was a great experience for us when we visited during our trip.

Of all the places we ate in Lahinch this is the only one we wouldn’t go back to. I had the soup which was fine, my husband had the fish & chips which he said was mushy and awful. It was breaded when really you would expect it to be in a nice light batter especially in a coastal restaurant, it seemed more like frozen fish. The restaurant was incredibly loud so we couldn’t leave fast enough and when we went to pay the server actually made a point of directing us to where the tip was and to let us know it was for him and in a very pushy way, unsurprisingly after that he didn’t get one anyway.

Lahinch Golf Club

4.7

Golf club
Lahinch Golf Club, established in 1892, boasts two 18-hole links courses with stunning views of the Atlantic. The original layout was designed by Old Tom Morris and later altered by Dr. Alister McKenzie. Referred to as 'the St Andrews of Ireland', this classic links course requires precise ball control. It is a must-play for those who appreciate real links golf and breathtaking scenery.
Played a round of 18 on the Castle Course a few days ago, and was floored with the level of service here. The course conditions here were immaculate as well. If you’re on a tighter budget and can’t afford the old course, don’t miss this same location, and very solid course that’s just next door. Not as undulating and flatter on appearance than the old course, we still found it difficult and unique as well in design. Had a lot of fun despite a bit of rain and want to come back to play the old course when we have a bit more coin! Lovely experience.

A links experience that is truly unique. Once the admin things are done in the pro shop, you exit the inconspicuous club house and stand on the first tee. When talking golf, things get serious very quickly. Fairways are generously wide, but the ondulation will get you if you don't listen to your caddie or if you don't know where you are going. A highlight were holes #4 and #5, which are holes you will probably not encounter like this again in your golf life.
Rameus — Google review
Truly an unforgettable experience. It rained on us and the wind beat us up the entire round. But, the 8 of us enjoyed every minute of it!! There are two holes that have not been touched since they were conceived back in 1892!! no trip to Ireland could be considered Complete without playing Lehinch.

Beautiful beach. Very good for swimming/surfing. Close to restaurants and pubs. Love this place

Old course is a must play at some stage in your life. Service from all the staff is amazing. Shout out to caddies Diarmuid and Noel and caddie master Tony. New shop is fantastic and service from the manager Aisling and her staff is second to none.
Gerry K — Google review
We had a fabulous day playing Lahinch. The weather was blue skies with a light ocean breeze. Lunch was delicious (sea food chowder and sea bass entree) at an affordable price. Spectacular views from the clubhouse. Our caddie Don was the best! He was fun, personable, and knowledgeable about the course layout and Lahinch area. We highly recommend him! Best day in Ireland so far on the trip.
Maureen D — Google review
The old course: fantastic! 5 star. The staff, also amazing with one critical exception being Tony the caddymaster/starter. We had 4 four-balls and our first group all scratch golfers under the age of 35 with official GHIN indexes under 2 and each averaging 290-300 yards off the tees. Tony in a very non-friendly aggressive manner dictated to our expert level group that “Nobody plays from the blue tees”. His tone and manner was totally unacceptable and so shocking. Previously on our trip we played Ballybunion, Tralee, and Waterville and had zero issues with caddymasters. Tony needs to understand that his customers travelled thousands of miles and paid premium prices to play Lahinch. He should have handled the situation MUCH better, shame on him and the embarrassment to Lahinch.
Timothy P — Google review
I absolutely loved this golf course, and the kindness of the staff was an equal match to the excellence of the course. There is so much wonderful creativity on display here. The holes are so diverse. My favourites were Klondyke and Dell which may come as no surprise. The name of this course may not be as well known to Americans, but don’t let that stop you from putting this world class layout on your list.

Kenny's Bar is a hidden gem on the way to Moher, with a friendly staff and delicious food made with local ingredients. The exceptional bread and good coffee make it a must-visit spot. This family-run bar offers an authentic experience with amazing Guinness, live music, and a true taste of Clare, Lahinch, and Ireland. While the catch of the day was slightly bland, the mussels and pulled pork burger from the daily specials board were excellent.
Food was beautiful - very fresh and tasted amazing. We had seafood chowder which was delightful. Fish of the day was cooked beautifully, very flakey and light batter. Very good specials board with daily options. Service was very quick, staff extremely friendly and attentive. Kenny's also had a very welcoming and warm atmosphere

We were on the way to Moher Cliffs. We decides to stop here to have lunch. The place is lovely!! The decorations are from around the world, and its full of colour. The food is on another level. We had the Catch of the day, Goujon chicken wrap and the curry. OMG one of the best places in Ireland I have tasted. We are going to repeat for sure. The staff was great always caring about how our lunch was going. Its a very very good place to have lunch dinner or whatever

Enjoyed our visit to the Cliffs and stopped off here to grab a bite before heading back to Dublin. The food was served hot and tasted great. The wraps were full of food and the burgers tasted great. Thought the patties were an odd shape, almost a ball opposed to flat making it a little harder to eat without making a mess. Overall we enjoyed our visit and atmosphere, we also loved the fact it was dog friendly.

We are finishing up a week in Lahinch and we ate here with our two young kids three times, it was so good! We loved everything about it, the atmosphere, the service and the food! They were super great with our kids, bringing coloring, bringing their food at first. And the food was just so good. It kept us coming back! We highly recommend checking it out if you’re in Lahinch!

Currently sitting down on the bar and had to write this review. All around great. Guinness tastes great. We had their burger and chicken curry and both were fantastic. The chowder and wings were amazing also. Cool atmosphere and they were playing 80’s music!!!

There is nothing else I would ask to a Bar/Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and goes accordingly with it's price. The staff was quick and kind and we didn't have to wait too much for the meals to come. The ambient favored small talk with friends and family without any trouble, with no loud noises and with some beatiful music playing at low volume. Absolutely stunning!!!

Visiting from Australia. The service is bloody good. The foods even better. Seafood chowder was the best I've had. Cajun chicken salad was again one of the best I've tasted. Awesome job 👏 👍

Really nice pub, food was delicious, staff were very friendly and helpful. They have a great special’s menu to go with the already good regular menu. I had the pot of mussels and my husband had the spicy chipotle chicken sandwich, both were really good. Nice atmosphere in the bar, it did get really busy so it might be difficult to get a table at times but worth the wait.

Great place, delicious food, friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend this place❤️

Ordered food for takeaway. Absolutely shocking. A burger served with no chips. Portion sizes tiny for the prices charged. Chips not even like chips..more like potatoes thrown into the fryer and the bigger ones not even cooked properly..paid extra for a salad. About 10 small lettuce bits in the tub. Will not return which is very disappointing.

We were already in the restaurant when I checked the reviews and I was a little worried, but everything was great. A longer wait than other places, but the scenery was gorgeous, the staff were friendly, and the food was delicious. Great value too considering the location.

Today we were at this wonderful restaurant. The appetizers were incredible. Thanks to our waitress for the good recommendation. For dinner we had sea bass and strogonof. Everything was very tasty. The service was great.

The pizza here was excellent, you can choose vegan mozzarella if you want, the food wasn't too pricey either. Great service too, and the tap stout is Murphy's, a real gem of a restaurant.

This bakery is absolutely amazing and the pastries are some of the best in Ireland. The staff is super friendly and they have a great selection of breads and desserts. I would highly recommend this bakery to anyone visiting Ireland!
The pastries here were probably the best we have had in Ireland!! The croissant was super buttery, and the cinnamon roll and chocolate pastry were super delicious. Very kind staff as well.
NeptuneNebula — Google review
In a small surfer town on Wild Atlantic Road you find a small local bakery where pastel de natas better than in Lisbon, Croissants better than in Paris, cinnamon rolls better than in Sweden…. What else to say, save this place on your map and make sure to make a pit stop. They also had specialty coffee, amazing looking breads, and sandwiches.
Ruta S — Google review
Absolutely amazing pastries! Both savoury and sweet were delicious and they had a lot of selection. If they have any pastel de nata left definitely get one because I think it’s even better than the ones I ate in Portugal!
Madison W — Google review
Probably the best pastries in all of Ireland. The cinnamon bon was sticky and soft, the various puff pastries we got were flaky and buttery. Everything had great flavor and each item was baked to perfection. Definitely do not miss this bakery!
Joseph D — Google review
Pastel de nata is to die for. Slightly lemony and cutting through the custard. So good! Wish we got them more 😆 We also god wild garlic focaccia and danish in the picture as well. Both are so great. Definitely need to check out when in Lahinch or nearby. They open on Mondays as well which was big plus especially a lot of stores are closed.
Eunju — Google review
The perfect bakery. I couldn’t decide what to get, so I bought a breakfast bun w/ chai sugar and a Portuguese tart. Then I added a ciabatta loaf to nibble on in the car to our next destination. I might gave yo ho back again for a cinnamon bun before we leave town. See the ciabatta, my daughter’s cinn bun and my other daughter’s choc almond croissant.
Regina F — Google review
Oh my, it’s worth going here alone for the pastel de nata but everything else is delicious too, the sourdough is fabulous!
Clare M — Google review
Excellent bakery in Lahinch. On weekends, can be a line to get in. Had the brie and apple chutney sandwich which was excellent. Everything is freshly made. Service was very friendly. No parking lot but can find parking on the street or nearby pay lot. Definitely a good place in the morning for fresh baked pastries or afternoon for a sandwich. No indoor seating. Everything is take-out.
