Located on a rocky islet connected to Ischia by a stone bridge, Castello Aragonese d'Ischia is a romantic medieval castle with a rich history and stunning views. Visitors can explore the ruins of the 14th-century Cattedrale dell'Assunta, the Chiesa dell'Immacolata, The Convent and Cemetery of the Poor Clares, the Church of San Pietro, and a small torture museum within the castle complex.
The Castello Aragonese is truly magical, with its historic buildings, beautiful gardens full of cacti, and stunning panoramic views of the sea and the city. The scenery is breathtaking, and you shouldn’t miss the opportunity to visit this enchanting place.”
Lika Z — Google review
Great place for anyone interested in history. The climb is not easy, but worth once you are at the top. They did lock some areas behind doors, but there are still enough individual areas to see.
Alex P — Google review
A really interesting place to visit. So much history that will really move you. Beautiful setting and in an area with so many restaurants and small shops. A really good day spent with a fantastic guide Paulo di Palma who is highly recommended
Ivor K — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous! We booked for Apertif. Walked around the castle afterwards on our way to dinner. The castle has rooms you can stay in, a restaurant, and a cocktail lounge. You must book via email on their website. Amazing place!
Julie B — Google review
So beautiful castle surrounded by the sea and linked to the island through a bridge. We spent there almost 1 day because we were fascinated by the incredible views from above
Bianca R — Google review
So worth it! Well kept, easy to get around and the small pamphlet has lots of information. Beautiful views everywhere you look and worth stopping at the Café near the Olive Trees Garden both for the view and a granita.
Federica C — Google review
Do not miss going to this castle on your trip to the island It is not a tourist trap , it is absolutely breathtaking and a beautiful way to spend an afternoon! They sell the last tickets at 4:30 in the afternoon and you could take in sunset from the glorious view point !

Ok... the comments about being in shape to tackle this place especially when it's hot are not overexagerated! I would not bring little kids or anyone that can't handle a bit of a trek. However there are bathrooms and cafés at the midpoint and top. Prices are really fair so don't hesitate to stop for a beverage and enjoy the terrace views. It's an incredible and massive structure with a really long history. It also has a some amazing views so for us it was more than worth it. Warning... the Ischia bus system is amazing BUT if you bus it to the Castle, Bus 7 has no air conditioning and is packed full. Also the bus stop is right across from the taxis just before the causeway to the castle. It's not marked so it's a bit confusing where to wait for the bus.

Spiaggia dei Pescatori

Public beach
Spiaggia dei Pescatori, also known as Fishermans Beach, is situated near Ischia Porto and was historically reserved for fishermen. Today, it's a popular spot to observe the morning activities of local fishermen. Similar to many beaches in Italy and Europe, this beach features beach clubs where visitors can rent lounge chairs and enjoy lunch. While the free beach may not be pristine, it offers volcanic sand that is suitable for children.
Great orange juice from a nice chap in the cubucle. Also lovely views of the castle.
Paul C — Google review
Nice place with clean beach. It was overcrowded and has no public shower or toilet. Have that in mind when you are coming. There is possibly to pay for sun-bed and then you can use the shower.
Jovana S — Google review
Second best beach on Ichia? Rent umbrellas or bring your own. Can be a bit crowded, specially in weekends.
Torje B — Google review
Went on 22nd of August and it was too crowded, but still a very nice beach.
Panagiotis D — Google review
Perfect beach for people who are staying on the island only few hours. Very crowded during the weekend, the public space is very small. Highly recommended to bring/rent an umbrella (it’s possible to get one for 7 euro from one of the bars on the beach). Beautiful view!
Benedetta — Google review
By noon in the summer the dark grey sand gets too hot to walk on barefoot, so bring flipflops. The beach is a narrow strip between the road and the water, as you can see on the map. Not too crowded on a weekday in the daytime. The water is clear, but has small flakes and dust floating on its surface.
Sander H — Google review
Good free beach. Take a towels and tents. It can be cleaner, but ok for city beach. Water is better in morning and evening when majority of tourists are off to home. Has a volcanic sand and is suitable for little children. There are little shops around where you can find ice cream, chips, water etc. Best view to Castle.

Spiaggia dei Maronti is a popular beach on Ischia island, featuring a narrow stretch of sand for swimmers and sunbathers. The area around the beach offers picturesque streets with shops and typical stores, as well as colorful houses in Borgo San Angelo. Nearby attractions include Cava Grado and fumaroles emitting steam from the boiling sand.
Lots of space where people aren't trying to scam you for a beach chair and you can just put up your own stuff
Nadine S — Google review
I loved the beach and had a wonderful day. The only problem is that the black sand is very beautiful, but I ended up burning my feet a bit underneath 😂😂 but I recommend it.
Carina P — Google review
Lovely beach for snorkeling and relaxing! We saw lots of small fish and even a black and yellow moray eel. In some areas you can see the CO2 bubbles coming up to the surface! There was a bit of trash though… a beach cleanup would be appreciated! Don’t forget to take your trash with you!
Flavia N — Google review
One of the best places on the earth, I can say.. I went early morning in a "bad weather " and it was amazingly beautiful with almost no one around.. I went again to enjoy the sunset as well.. a must visit place!
Trisha S — Google review
By far the best beach on the island. The lounger are also reasonably priced for the day and the facilities are great. The water and beach is additionally spotless. Overall, dreamy.
Lise-Jo S — Google review
Lovely place, but It's a shame that there are not enough free beaches. For a single day at the beach you have to spend at least: - 10€ for parking; - 25€ for two deck chairs and a beach umbrella.

Hiked here from Sant'Angelo. Well-marked trail starts near the arch at the entrance to town. Passes Fumarole Beach, then a climb with some dirt trails. Lots of options to beach, refresh, or eat at Maronti. I took the water taxi back to Sant'Angelo. Lots of fun and a must for Elena Ferrante fans

Restaurant
Belmare Maronti Beach, owned by Ernesto Mattera, is a hidden gem located on the beach. It offers a warm welcome and an inviting atmosphere. The Bruschetta and Salad Caprese are both generously proportioned and delicious. The Linguine Vongole is cooked to perfection, with plenty of clams and served al dente. This restaurant is highly recommended for its value for money and large portion sizes.
Big portions of very tasty food. The only minus is the bathroom which was a little dirty.
Irina P — Google review
It's definitely one of the best places on Ischia. Excellent service, fantastic food (huge portions, no extra fees for service, etc), and on top of that - gorgeous views! And you can easily check the menu online - huge respect for this 👍

Absolutely amazing! I was here with my whole family and all the drinks and food was delicious! We love the waiters and the environment, best restaurant for any part of the day: coffee, quick drink or dinner. Price amazing ✨10/10 ✨
Emilie D — Google review
Food is amazing with really big portions and in a very reasonable price range. Ate there most days of our ischia trip! The waiters were making a joke and really nice, the lady who works at the till is so lovely too. Many thanks to the belmare team!
Lily — Google review
The service at this place is rather disorganized, taking a lot of time to take orders, bring food, bills, etc. The food is good but not exceptional, bar the portions which are generous. The toilets are poorly maintained.

What a find , great value for money spaghetti with seafood was beautiful and such a large amount of mussels clams prawns squid a honest to goodness delight .Go with a appetite as the portions ain’t small and staff were friendly and patient with a non Italian speaker .More power to their elbow

Restaurant
Located in the charming town of Ischia Ponte, Restaurant Auras offers a delightful dining experience with its delectable cuisine and stunning views of the castle. The atmosphere is perfect, accompanied by chill Italian jazz music, and the staff provides exceptional service with great recommendations for food and wine. With an impressive average review score on Google Maps, this restaurant is known for its magnificent views, delicious food, and attentive service from owner Paulo and his team.
We had dinner at Auras on our last night in Ischia and the experience and the food did not disappoint. We had reservations so the table was ready when we arrived. Julio was our main server and he was so friendly and did an amazing job taking care of us the whole evening. We chose this restaurant because it had a lot of vegetarian options. He made sure to understand our dietary needs and then he made some great recommendations. They brought us some bread with an amazing olive oil to enjoy with our drinks while we soaked in the view of the castle that looms tall in the landscape. The food came out and was so so delicious! I highly recommend the squash blossoms. All the food was amazing honestly. It was a 10/10 on atmosphere and overall experience and a 10/10 on the food itself. I highly recommend this place if you are in Ischia…if you get Julio as the server that’s just a bonus! Pro tip: don’t skip the French fries!!!!!

The best!! I went for my 50th birthday dinner. Paulo the owner is so friendly. You feel like you’re at someone’s home. Service was impeccable. Views were amazing! Food was excellent. You need a reservation.

This place is a dream! Best seafood pasta in Italy! It was noticeable more delicious than other restaurants in Ischia too. The view is spectacular and the waiters are Soo kind and attentive! This place is perfect!!! Everything is delicious. We ordered zucchini flowers, octopus, wellington fish and pasta with lobster! Everything absolutely delicious! Better impossible! A must if you go to Ischia! Or to Napoli!!! Our waiter was Julio and he was extremely kind and caring with us! He even gave a welcome message to me and my husband! To say the truth this restaurant has dishes with better taste than a Michelin star restaurant I went
Carolina R — Google review
Auras was the first restaurant we went to upon arriving in Ischia and needless to say, it was hard to beat! We received amazing service from the lovely waiter Giovanni who was very helpful throughout the whole experience! The food was absolutely delicious and the view was amazing. Would definitely recommend!
Katie F — Google review
My husband and I went for his birthday and for our first night in ischia and it was a perfect experience. All the food was great but we are obsessed with the pork and the fries. The fries are definitely a MUST. The service was great, we did book in advance to get a table with the view but if you go late its very likely to find a good spot. Which is definitely worth it because the view and the vibes are perfect. A must go spot in ischia for sure.
Valeria L — Google review
Tasty with an amazing location right on the water with an amazing view of the castle. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend, though it is more pricey than Google led me to believe. We had the tuna tartare and the squid with pork belly. Both were delicious.
Andrea B — Google review
Very good restaurant, Julio the perfect host. We ordered the seafood pasta and ravioli- both fresh, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavour. The tuna tartare to start was exceptional, the Amarone by the glass delicious and the overall experience was superb. Highly recommended.
James H — Google review
Worth every star twice over! The location is perfect : best view in town while just outside of the more busy part of the old town. The service is impeccable. The owner takes a lot of pride in his restaurant and offer a great personal touch supported by a tremendous staff - friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was delicious as well - not cheap but worth every euro. Highly recommended!

Seafood restaurant
Nestled above the waves in Ischia Porto, Ristorante da Bellezza is a charming eatery steeped in tradition, having delighted diners with its delectable pasta and fresh seafood for an impressive 70 years. This family-run gem offers a warm atmosphere where you can savor dishes like marinated anchovies that burst with briny zest and daily specials such as stuffed eggplant or stewed octopus.
We were lucky enough to get a tip from a local to go here for great seafood and we were not disappointed. This restaurant is the perfect place for you if you’re after authentic, delicious food, fantastic service and panoramic sea views at an affordable price. They are most known for their seafood pasta and it did not disappoint.

Best pasta and seafood on the island. 10/10 will definitely be coming back. Lemon sorbet was perfection. Amazing food with beautiful sea-side views. Highly recommend and would come back again. Fantastico!

This is a fantastic family restaurant. It’s no frills, delicious food, generous portions and such a friendly service. Just like a place like this should be. I’m so happy I ended up here. The seafood spaghetti is a must! Thank you for a lovely meal!

Went here for lunch and came back next night for dinner during Sunset!! The location is stunning and the food is Delicious. Great prices too for appetizers, main and dessert. Nuncia is the cook (+owner) and she is the best!! Amazing Family run restaurant incredible must try :) Grazie Mille Nuncia!!

Ristorante Bellezza is a lovely family-run restaurant. We felt like we were invited to a family dinner – very warm and welcoming. The food was incredibly tasty, and we enjoyed it while watching a stunning sunset. We would recommend this place to everyone visiting Ischia!!!!
Matteo K — Google review
If you’re not careful, you will walk by Ristorante da Bellezza without noticing, and miss an outstanding meal. Operated by Nuncia and her family, she does all of the cooking. The best bruschetta I have had and my Italian friends who ate with me agree. Ripe, firm, vibrant red tomatoes mixed with the right amount of garlic, olive oil, and basil grown on the premises. Homemade bread with just enough of the bruschetta seasoning soaked in. Eggplant simple yet perfectly balanced flavors and oils you will want to soak your bread in. We had the seafood of the day. Molto bene! Fresh caught, light breading, a touch of salt. Moist when called for, crunchy when appropriate. It was unassuming but applause the most authentic meal we had while staying in Ischia.
Lisa — Google review
Wow!!!! Absolutely no words to describe how delicious this was. And obsessed with how classic the decor and look of the place is. Stunning wine, beautiful fresh ingredients, amazing smells from the kitchen - a must go.
Libby C — Google review
Food was amazing! We ordered 3 portions of the Spaghetti Frutti di Mare and a spaghetti Puttenesca. They give you complimentary bruschetta which was so simple and delicious. All the seafood was super fresh and pasta cooked perfectly. The woman who runs the place has a very friendly energy and makes you feel very welcome in the restaurant. Her mother does the cooking so the experience is very authentic! Reasonable prices for the quality and portion of the food too. Not to be missed and ofcourse there is an incredible view from the outside terrace to enjoy while you eat. Will definitely return during our stay in Ischia!

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Negombo, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Archaeological Museum of Pithecusae. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Negombo is a stunning thermal park located in Lacco Ameno, Italy. The annual event held at the park brings together nurserymen, artisans, and collectors from all over Italy. Visitors can explore rare plants and indulge in gastronomic delights. Other popular thermal parks in the area include Poseidon Gardens in Forio and Castiglione Vanitello in Casamicciola.
There is only 1 hot spring coming from the ground through a pipe. The sea was cold crisp in April. I visited on Easter. The view is amazing! It was worth the long trip down, through the vegetation. This is for the public beach near Negombo (free). Mind the pictures to make your way down shorter!
Ileana V — Google review
Beautiful gardens with private space, very peaceful. Better suited to guests with younger members as the pools are slightly cooler. Nice places to eat and shopping opportunities. The pools are naturalistic and might be tricky for people with mobility or sight issues,(lots of unlevel steps in and out of the water) But I really wouldn't let that put you off. This place is stunning and I'd definitely recommend spending a day there.
Brian P — Google review
We've been in Naples for six days. On the seventh day we rested here. Fabulous retreat. The thermal baths were divine.
Clay L — Google review
Came here on a super rainy day and it was beautiful! It is EMPTY at the beginning of October. The pools up on the cliffside were magical. Would return again! Only small downside is that if you rent a towel (8euros), to get a dry one (and it was pouring the whole time) you have to pay again. I understand but it seemed like a little bit of a cash grab since the park is already 90+ euros for two people.
Elizabeth M — Google review
Beautiful place but some disappointments. - The setting is extraordinary and without equal. The beach is perfect. It is a 20 minute And 30 Euro taxi ride from the main port. - All over Italy, water fountains are running and plentiful. Not at Negombo. Despite paying the equivalent of over $100 for 2 people, the only drinking water available is for sale. Stating hydrated after thermal baths is important, and Negombo makes you pay. - You pay the equivalent of $10 more to rent a single towel. Plus a $15 deposit on the towel that is returned to you as you give the wet towel back. But their refusal to exchange a soaking wet cold towel for a fresh dry one after you have used it all day is a surprisingly stingy element if the operation. - The squatting toilets are unpleasant and challenging for many. If management could simply address the 3 issues above (water, towels and toilets), this would be a 5 star experience.
Mark K — Google review
A brilliant thermal spa and beach place. It costs €100 for 2 adults for a full day but there’s lot a to see with many thermal pools a great beach and normal pool’s. Lots of facilities on site including toilets and changing rooms. Lockers are free but cost you a returnable €20 deposit. Your entry price includes 2 subbed 2 deck chairs and an umbrella. Towels cost to hire so bring your own. Several restaurants on site nothing too pricey. Lots of locals do it must be good. Plenty of undercover parking and in the Italian summer that’s worth it. Easy to get from Ischia Porto on a regular bus service €5 for a full day bus pass!
Mike T — Google review
This park is supposedly “kid friendly.” First there are no pools where young kids can walk around. One kid pool is 5 feet deep and other one is approx 4. I guess if your kids are 10+ then yes, but otherwise for younger kids, no. Poseidon is much better with pools for younger kids. There are good staff and very rude staff. My young son needed a toilet with a seat and there was one which the employee refused to open. Tl:dr: go to Poseidon if you have young kids. This park is not kid friendly and some staff are quite rude. If you want to go to the beach, just walk further to free beach and if you want t shade, there is free shade along the cliffs.
Tuan P — Google review
This is a beautiful resort. The spectacular beauty of the setting, the way all of the processes and the recreation areas are set up, the quality of the food & drinks, and the very nature of the wonderful thermal salt water pools are all terrific and enjoyable. It is a calm and enjoyable place, as it is spread out across many separate areas, yet easy to get around and enjoy the variety of settings and pools. There was nothing that I did not like about our visit. A total relaxing and amazing experience!

Spiaggia di San Montano

4.2
(696)
Beach
Spiaggia di San Montano is a stunning small beach nestled among rugged cliffs, offering rental sun beds and opportunities for swimming and sunbathing. The area holds historical significance as the promontory of Monte Vico served as an acropolis overlooking the sea, with nearby bays functioning as a commercial port and shelter for vessels. The plain of Santa Restituta allowed productive activity in the small town, while the valley of San Montano hosted a necropolis.
This is probably our favorite beach in Ischia. It’s divided into two parts: one is free, and the other has paid umbrellas and sun beds. The water is clear and not too crowded, especially in the peak season.
Oliver P — Google review
Nice beach, quiet but less clean water. But nice spot especially together with Negombo 👍🏼
Petr S — Google review
Nice beach with moderately steady slope for younger kids. There is free shade along shade if you don’t have umbrella next to cliffs. Water is clean and not rough bc in cove
Tuan P — Google review
Beach itself spreading in two parts. Arroun 70% private (you have to pay) and 30% public (for free). We used free on, they including toilets. The shade from the mountains come first on the free beach. It’s very great with kids, you need to walk little bit in the water to not feel sand under you feet. It’s very lovely. We are visiting in mid September so it’s not crowded. Recommend
Olya F — Google review
Way too expensive for such basic service. No side tables, no lockers. Umbrellas are not adjustable. Owners should invest more into the facilities, not just raise the prices
Anton G — Google review
Very nice beach. We liked it as I can’t swim but it’s shallow enough for me to be able to touch the ground with my feet quite far out. Half of it has sun loungers to rent and half of it is just free with no sun loungers etc. There’s also a small bar serving aperol spritz, beers etc. We got there via bus. It’s a bit of a walk down but not half as bad as it looks as it’s mostly some steps and then a restive flat path, so if you don’t mind a ten min walk and a short bit with steps, it’s fine to get to from the bus. We went fairly late and stayed til gone 7pm, when the water was still warm enough.
Adam P — Google review
The beach says free but actually it’s only a small area of sand where you can sit down and it’s crowded and dirty. The umbrellas are 60€ per day which is insane and you cannot even sit down on the sand because they send you away. The staff is rude and the whole beach is really not worth visiting.
Daniella K — Google review
A very nice beach in Ischia, nice water and views. Went on Saturday, not crowded even if beach it's not that big. €50 for 2 sunbeds for whole day or €25 after 2pm. There are clean showers for which you have to pay a small fee, changing rooms and clean toilets. Definitely one of the best beaches on the island if you prefer to have 'space'. Only one snack bar which is a bit pricey for what they offer.

History Museums
The Archaeological Museum of Pithecusae is a cultural gem on Ischia, boasting exceptional findings from scientific excavations. The museum's architectural beauty provides a splendid backdrop for its Mediterranean archaeology exhibitions. The staff collaborates with universities and other museums to ensure top-notch curation. Visitors can marvel at the Cup of Nestor, an ancient treasure predating Homeric poems.
Highly informative about the pre-Grecco and Grecco colonies on the island. Wonderful pottery exhibits. In Italian and English.

Of course out of season, however maintenance is way behind on the buildings and the garden. The main gate is closed with prm access so the only access is the ramp to the parking. The ticket box upstairs is closed and downstairs not very well placed. Would skip it.

Modern marketing. Probably the smallest exhibition ever. Could provide more detail and storytelling about their very few pieces of interest.
Florian F — Google review
Lovely little museum with ancient greek pottery and sculptures, including the Cup of Nestor which dates from around 750 BC and has one of the earliest examples of writing using the greek alphabet. The museum is a former villa which has gorgeous views of the sea, mountains and town.
Frank ( — Google review
It is a museum in need of a make-over. The finds are very exciting, after all from the first ancient Greek (Euboian) colony in Italy from the beginning at the 8th century B.C. "Nestor's cup" with an early Greek inscription is here, but exhibited so you cannot see the inscription. However, I like that the exhibition goes from the earliest funds and up, and also includes geology - an important part of the island.

There were issues with pay, but they let us in for free. Very friendly and kind. The museum was lovely as well. Well recommended!

A Morning Ritual We’ll Never Forget Our experience at Botania Resort was made even more special by the incredible presence of Luisa, the morning yoga instructor. Luisa is a truly magical and radiant soul—graceful, grounded, and full of warmth. Her classes felt like a sacred invitation into the day, guiding us gently yet powerfully into alignment of body, mind, and spirit. Each session was original, creative, and deeply personal—tailored to the moment and to those in the room. Luisa’s presence is both calming and uplifting, a beautiful balance that supported us in waking up with intention and clarity. She didn’t just lead a class; she held space, offered care, and invited connection—with ourselves, each other, and the day ahead. Luisa is a true asset to Botania. Any guest fortunate enough to start their day with her guidance is in for something truly special.

I spent a wonderful five nights at Botania Relias & Spa and I can't recommend it highly enough. This place truly is an oasis of greenery and tranquility - exactly what I needed for a peaceful getaway. What makes this hotel special are the countless little private hideaways scattered throughout the property. I loved discovering the outdoor cabana beds charming benches tucked into quiet corners and even swings where you can just sit and breathe. It's like having your own secret Garden with multiple spots to find your perfect moment of Zen. The staff were incredibly accommodating and hospitable throughout my stay. They really made me feel welcomed and cared for. The food was another highlight, the nuance of flavours and artistry in each dish was remarkable. The 3 day a week Yoga sessions with Luisa were absolutely fantastic too. The live music was also top notch - an unexpected welcomed addition to my experience. The proximity to the thermal baths was the perfect bonus, making it so convenient to enjoy the full wellness experience without hassle. If your looking for a high quality place to truly replenish your vitality and find some peace, Botania Relais and Spa is absolutely ideal. I will definitely be back.

Our stay at Botania Relais was pure magic from start to finish. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel special, and they even surprised us with an upgrade to a stunning suite with a private pool. The service is truly 5-star; every detail and every interaction felt luxurious and personal. The property itself is truly remarkable, surrounded by lush greenery, beautiful flowers, and a profound sense of peace. It feels like a hidden paradise. I only had the chance to try one of the restaurants, Il Corbezzolo, but it turned out to be the best meal of my entire vacation. The food and ambiance were phenomenal. Botania Relais exceeded all expectations. I can’t wait to come back!

From the moment we arrived, we knew we’d discovered something special. While the property isn’t situated directly on the beach, that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Nestled among vibrant gardens and lush greenery, the setting felt peaceful, secluded, and refreshingly different from the typical beachfront resort experience. If you do want some sand and sea, a beautiful beach is just a short five-minute stroll away—easy and convenient. But honestly, we found ourselves completely enchanted by the grounds. The landscaping is stunning, the atmosphere is serene, and everything feels thoughtfully curated. One of the standout aspects of our stay was the staff. Every person we interacted with was genuinely kind, attentive, and committed to making our experience memorable. It’s rare to come across such consistently warm and detail-oriented service. The food was fresh and clean, the ambiance was calming, and every moment felt like a breath of fresh air. We’re leaving with full hearts and already dreaming of our return. This has, without question, become one of our favorite places we’ve ever stayed.

Our stay at Botania was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like part of the family. Anything that we requested was met with ease, such as transfers, reservations & recommendations. Our room was gorgeous, the bedding perfect (I haven’t slept that good even in my own bed), the food for breakfast, lunch & dinner was divine. Norma’s served the best meatballs I’ve had in my life!! Highly recommend Botania.

Best hotel in all of Ischia! We absolutely loved our stay here. My husband and I stayed for a week in May as we were in need of a very relaxing vacation. The property is gorgeous and truly a place to rejuvenate and relax. The staff was exceptional, the food was phenomenal, and everything was truly amazing. We really couldn’t recommend this place more. From the indoor and outdoor gyms, the pool, the access to the beach, the spa, and thermal pools, we felt secluded, taken care of, and so at peace. We can’t wait to go back!

Botania Relais & Spa in Ischia felt like staying in a real-life garden paradise. Everywhere you look, it’s green and peaceful. Saturnino is a renowned restaurant located in Forio, Ischia, offering an elegant dining experience with breathtaking sea views. With over five decades of history, this establishment celebrates the island's culinary heritage by blending traditional recipes with modern techniques. The menu, curated by Chef Antonio Mazzella, showcases inventive dishes deeply rooted in local flavors.
Fabulous. Atmosphere, staff and food were great. Lucky enough to sit by the kitchens and witness the chefs at work, and they were more than willing to come out and see how we were getting on. A real highlight amongst many other restaurants we tried along the Amalfi coast.

An amazing place, with delicious food and incredible hospitality! We had lunch at Saturnino and finally got to taste the local rabbit anf were totally charmed. Thank you, you are doin a great job! Also, I need to mention the bathroom, because not only was it beautifully decorated, but the “melograno” fragrance from Dr. Vranjes made it like a magic place.

This is my favorite restaurant on Ischia. This was actually the second time we ate here, and it was even better than two years ago. We had the set menu, portions were generous and each of the courses had distinct flavours. We paired it with a lovely bottle of a local natural wine (Bajola). Our dinner was genuinely exciting and outpaced the other Michelin guide restaurant in the town of Forio. When we return to Ischia, returning here is a no-brainer!

Everything was delicious. Tasty and yet delicate. The restaurant is curated into the very details, looking perfect for any kind of event. The staff is attentive and nice.

We had chef’s tasting menu (4 courses and dessert,65€) - it was amazing, super innovative fish dishes. If you want a non-standard Italian dining experience, I highly recommend it. The service was also excellent- friendly, polite, with dishes coming one after the other but not too quickly. Enjoyed it a lot. You have to reserve in advance in a summer season because there aren’t so many tables and it gets full!

Giardini la Mortella is a stunning hillside garden in Forio, featuring a diverse collection of tropical and Mediterranean flora, enchanting water features, and breathtaking bay views. Originally purchased by the renowned English composer Sir William Walton in 1949, with the help of landscape architect Russel Page, it was transformed into a paradise. The gardens boast an array of rare plants including the celebrated Gingko Biloba and the mesmerizing Victoria Amazonica.
I'm a gardener so I'm always keen to visit a botanical garden wherever I go, but this one is truly spectacular. A mystical panoply of all types of plants from different regions. Some really special orchids and water plants. Nooks, ponds and rockeries galore. Highly recommend. You could easily spend all day there so be careful. Really good price for the wonders on offer. Enjoy!
Callum M — Google review
While the beauty and care with which the gardens have been cultivated are truly admirable, my visit was unfortunately overshadowed by the fact that smoking is permitted within the grounds. Allowing visitors to smoke in such a serene, carefully preserved natural environment is not only detrimental to the air quality and atmosphere but also deeply detracts from the experience for those who come seeking peace, beauty, and inspiration. The gardens, created over many years with such dedication and vision, deserve to be enjoyed in a setting that respects their tranquility and ecological integrity. Sadly, the presence of cigarette smoke made it difficult to fully appreciate the space and ambiance that Sir William Walton and Lady Susana Walton so lovingly brought to life. I strongly urge the Foundation to reconsider its policy on smoking within the gardens. Implementing a non-smoking rule would preserve the healthful environment, enhance the experience for all visitors, and align more closely with the spirit of harmony and reflection that La Mortella was clearly intended to embody.

Gorgeous gardens (ticket 12 €), quite large, so you will spend some time here. There is even a small cafe bar with some food right under the Greek theater (you can also find toilets here, next to the theater). We also caught the concert in the evening from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM and the ticket cost only 8 €. Fallowing the song for parking and ticket office if you are by car (around 1 km from down, another entrance by foot).

This is a must-visit-place if you visit Ischia! The place is incredible, and there's so many wonderful, beautiful and unique places. Make sure to have plenty of time, and it is a big garden and theres quite a lot of walking, paths up and down, elevations and stairs. At the very top and bottom, trees offer you a bit of shade and fresh air. The the levels in between, the sun and stairs can make it an incredibly warm experience. Make sure to bring water and something for your blood sugar if it is a very warm day. The place is relatively easy to reach by public transportation. Parking is a bit more tricky, however if you enjoy a slightly challenging drive on small roads there's a small parking lot at the very top of the garden.
Jeff O — Google review
If you’ve visited botanical gardens in other major cities (500,000+ population), this one won’t surprise you — it’s pleasant, but quite standard. Plan for about an hour to see everything. One important tip: there are a lot of tiger mosquitoes here. If you’re not familiar with them, look them up and make sure to bring repellent — it will make your visit much more enjoyable.
Mark F — Google review
A stunning set of gardens. Tranquil and inspiring. We also enjoyed an outdoor concert one evening whichbwas also a joy with all the scent from the garden mixing in with the frogs chorus from the ponds. Cant recommend more highly. Wegot there for when it opened at 9 as it was cooler and less busy.
P2 M — Google review
Definitely worth the price and super nice to get some shade in there when it's super hot outside. Make sure to keep in mind the guided tour groups that might arrive on the daily around 10:30-11-30am
Nadine S — Google review
We visited the garden with friends and were not disappointed. There was so much to see and didn't manage to see the whole garden. What we did see was beautiful and very colourful. The frogs even treated us to a different type of concert as they stayed hidden amongst the lillies. If you have mobility issues then you may not get to see the whole garden as there are lots of steps. Each plant or tree was labelled to show where in the world they originate from. There is a lovely cafe and shop. At the time of visiting, there was a concert going on, which was an additional cost. We were pleasantly surprised how beautiful the gardens are and thoroughly recommend visiting them.

Located in the picturesque island of Ischia, it offers a wide range of activities such as paintball and suspended camping in the midst of nature. The park is nestled within the lush Pineta di Fiaiano forest, providing an ideal setting for outdoor enthusiasts to immerse themselves in exhilarating experiences.
We were greeted by very friendly staff and taken good care of. the five of us enjoyed the climbing. The green tracks were cosy not very hard. But everyone had some challenges with the red track in the end. The air was not so warm in between the trees. We recommend doing the extra zip line(s). The view from the second zip line is a great one over the bay. Four of us did paintball. And it was more fun than I expected. The area to fight in is perhaps a bit small for groups larger than 10 but we had ample space.

Loved Every Minute – A Must-Do in Ischia! Such a Beautiful, Challenging, and Unforgettable Experience Ischia Adventure Park was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. Surrounded by lush, wild nature, it felt like stepping into another world — peaceful, thrilling, and totally immersive. The courses are fun and surprisingly challenging in the best way. You might start off unsure, but you quickly build confidence and end up feeling proud and empowered. What truly makes the difference is the staff: incredibly kind, supportive, and motivating. They’re always there to guide and encourage you, turning fear into joy and real accomplishment. With stunning views, a rush of adrenaline, and so many laughs, this experience stays with you. We went as a group of friends and left with a memory we’ll never forget. Don’t miss it. 100% worth it!

Wonderful place! Don't let the casual, friendly feel or a little faded paint make you think anything isn't looked after. The staff is very well trained and the safety equipment is top on the line. I've visited similar facilities all over the world and this is one of the best I've seen. The staff was wonderful with my rambunctious, English speaking kid. He spent 2 hours in the trees with them and came back all smiles. I'm shocked they offer so much for so little cost. We'll definitely be back when we visit Ischia again.

Mount Epomeo, a 2,589-foot volcanic mountain located on the island of Ischia, offers a diverse range of landscapes and attractions. From sunny beaches to pine forests and green hills, the area provides ample opportunities for invigorating walks and excursions. The island's volcanic origin is evident in its eight thermo-basins, springs, geysers, and arenas known for their therapeutic properties. Additionally, the local microclimate supports exceptional fruit and vegetable production.
took me 30min from forno to the peak. Better bring good shoes and no flip flops as other tourists did. Beautiful walk with nices views! Would really recommend staying at the two restaurants (aragonese and the one on the top)

An amazing place that becomes even more beautiful during the sunset or the sunrise. The hike from Fontana is short but steep. Wearing good shoes is a must especially on the way down where it can be slippery. From the top, a 360 degrees view can be observed. You can see Capri, the Vesuve and the golf of Naples.

Worth a visit, view is spectacular. We came before 10 am, very few people. Recommended to visit early in the day both because the temperature is lower and it becomes very crowded at the top.

Beautiful view from the top of the island. The hike is short but steep. Not for the faint of heart. Parking was full so we had to park on road down the hill.

This morning's hike to Mount Epomeo on Ischia was nothing short of magical. As I ascended the well-trodden paths, surrounded by lush vineyards and vibrant wildflowers, I felt a deep connection with nature. The sky transformed with every step, shifting from deep indigo to the warm hues of dawn. Reaching the summit just in time, I watched the sun rise majestically over the horizon, casting golden rays across the landscape. The tranquil beauty and serene atmosphere of the mountain, coupled with the distant sparkling sea, created an unforgettable moment of peace and awe.
Rex M — Google review
Go all the way to the top if you’re up for it and have sure footing! The first hill up the long concrete road is steep, flanked by lovely local plants on either side. The dirt path up the mountain is also steep and sometimes Barry, sometimes large rocks, but not impossible (I am active and strong, but am not a Cross Fit junkie, and there were a wide variety of folks at the top). The very top of the rock might be a lot for those who are afraid of heights, but there is a guard rail to hold for balance and the view is absolutely beautiful. I got a limone arance mista juice at the top restaurant and had a heart lunch / dessert at La Porta di Agartha Ristorante afterward (a bit further back down from the tip top) which I highly highly recommend. I started around 11:30am-ish and took my time, and by the time I got to Agartha restaurant it was about 1:00pm.
Sasha N — Google review
Good to bring a walking stick or two, it helps when you reach the portion of the hike where trekkers have worn down the rocks to narrow channels over centuries. Unexpectedly, the restaurant at the top was open in mid-November. When the last 30 feet had too much vertical exposure for me, I was able to retreat to the lovely terrace and enjoy a beer while I waited for my daughter. It took me an hour to reach the top, climbing at an easy pace. I probably wouldn’t do it in mid-summer though, too hot and crowded.

Great place! A little work to get there, but well worth it! We parked down the road near a place called Miscillo Sapori and then hiked for about 20 min. We made the relatively steep 3 km walk from Fontana, which is about one hour, to reach to restaurant at the top of Monte Epomeo and its amazing panoramic views of the island. Sitting at a table on the front terrace, we had the Spaghetti Epomeo, omelette con coppa and insalata pomodori con cipolla, which were all excellent. The owner guided us to another extraordinary view through the back of the restaurant and was kind to share the story of his grandfather travelling up the mountain by donkey and carving out the rock face, where the family-owned restaurant sits today.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a local on the bus to Monte Epomeo, and the bruschetta specifically. She was 100% correct in saying the bruschetta was delicious! The view was phenomenal, I stopped in to eat after taking photos at the peak. Many tables were "reserved" on the terrace but I still managed to find a table with a great view. The bruschetta and freshly squeezed OJ were both delicious. Would recommend!

The food was so good and the view amazing (although it was a little bit cloudy). Unfortunately we won't remember these positive things: There was a beagle, who doesn't belong to this restaurant and he looked very sick, he kept harassing our dog (jumping on him, licking him) and we couldn't keep him away. As we were concerned about our dogs health, we were glad, that at some point the owners of he restaurant lead him away. But apparently this dog comes there every day looking for food. We wouldn't go back while having a dog with us.

We had a wonderful lunch at Ristorante La Grotta da Fiore. The food was incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and the portions were generous. Every dish was delicious, and we especially appreciated the explanation about the rabbit and how it was prepared—it’s clear they take real pride in their cooking. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The waiters and owners were genuinely friendly and attentive. You can tell they truly care about the service—they don’t just bring food to the table, they make sure you enjoy the full experience. To top it all off, they surprised us with a big bag of fresh basil and some chillis to take home! 🤩 Such a thoughtful gesture. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic food, kind people, and a memorable dining experience.

Situated in the charming village of Ischia Ponte, Ristorante Aglio olio & Pomodoro is a delightful fish eatery known for its classic recipes and fresh catch-of-the-day dishes. This chic yet traditional restaurant is located at the edge of Ischia Ponte, where notable films like 'Brilliant Friend' have been filmed.
We stopped in for lunch just as the rain started coming down, and we were greeted by the owner, Dorian. (Yes just like Dorian Grey)! We settled in for a nice lunch, sharing some patatas bravas and steak tartare followed by a traditional Neapolitan cucine povere dish, egg cooked in tomato sauce. It was delicious, reportedly just like his Nonna made! Then we had gnocchi with pumpkin sauce and spaghetti with anchovies. All very tasty and an enjoyable diversion from the rain. And yes, Dorian looked younger when we left, see him and his cook in the photos!

This place is definitely a gem. It’s also very cooly decorated on the inside, but the terrace is a lovely place to sit for lunch. The staff were so kind! Everything tasted great and it was reasonably priced. I would come back!

A restaurant with a great atmosphere and very pleasant and fast service. My wife and I ordered the grilled calamari and the meal was one big taste buds concert. The prices fully correspond to the quality of the food served. I can only recommend the restaurant.
Viktor M — Google review
We went here based on the good reviews and were unfortunately disappointed with our experience, we were charged €30 for local wine available much cheaper elsewhere and this was the second cheapest bottle and there wasn’t much choice for affordable wine many bottles were around €200 and the atmosphere of the restaurant did not match this price. Food was mediocre at best and small in size which did not justify the extortionate prices charged. Even though we paid a service charge per person there was an added unexpected charge for service added on top. This meal was the most expensive during my time on holiday and probably the worst I wouldn’t recommend.

OMG WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THIS AMAZING PLACE.... My husband and I stumbled upon this place in our last night in Ischia and wow did it totally blow us away. The staff were all amazing. Carmen recommended us dishes of what to order and everything she recommended was absolutely incredible. We ordered the fusili mushroom and clam pasta, the red fish spaghetti, the tuna tartar for starters and the lemon cake for dessert. Every single one of these dishes was prepared and cooked to perfection. I cannot recommend this place enough and for us it really was the BEST food in Ischia. The service was amazing and the restaurant was such a cosy and warm atmosphere. Thank you to you all for an amazing last night and the delicious food. The Patels xxx

Italian restaurant
La Vigna Di Alberto is a renowned restaurant in Barano d'Ischia, known for its farm-to-table experience and stunning views. Situated high above Lacco Ameno, the restaurant boasts its own vineyards and vegetable gardens, reflecting Chef Alberto Iacono's dedication to organic farming and sustainable cuisine. Guests can indulge in a variety of dishes, from handmade pastas to grilled meats and seasonal vegetables, all prepared with fresh ingredients.
Went jul24. don’t take online, WhatsApp or email booking - by phone only. Don’t speak English, so booking is hard for some of us. Restaurant not sign posted, just a door bell. There is a car park but it only takes cash and Italian only instructions . An Italian friend booked over the phone for us, but when we got there, there was no sign of our booking. Kindly they managed to squeeze us in. This is an extremely local , old school restaurant- one of only a handful on the island . They produce their own red wine, but I’m afraid it wasn’t to my taste. We were served the mixed starters before sitting down and before being shown any menu. The starters consisted of four or five mixed courses including mussels and tomato sauce, pizza, bread and mozzarella with tomatoes. we were presented a menu for the main course and I ordered pasta with a fillet steak. However a sirloin steak arrived which was a lower price point on the menu, however they still charged the price of the fillet steak. Steak was under-seasoned - tried asking for salt and pepper a few times but it didn’t arrive, so steak went uneaten. In summary a fantastically beautiful and local restaurant though quite challenging for non-Italian speakers.

WOW. We had a great experience here. This was something different. This was BY FAR our favorite spot on our trip to Ischia! We had accidentally found this restaurant, thanks to google maps, reading the positive reviews and have tried to see the „old Italien school“ restaurant. Entrance is a little difficult to find, one must ring at to enter. Accidentally, we got a table without reservation and so many great things to say! The food was absolutely delicious and so very fresh. The staff were so kind and welcoming. We loved the atmosphere with live music and overall location. Stunning view from above we had. Highly recommended.

The food was excellent! The mushroom risotto was the best dish we have had in our vacation. The music and vibes were amazing. We really enjoyed our dinner there. They got us three appetizers, and we got to choose the main dishes and the dessert from a set menu. If you want to try authentic italian dishes, this is the place that you should visit!

An authentic experience. Any tourist who doesn't understand that old school Italian authenticity should probably stay away. No compromises here. They do what they do and do it well.

A great experience with amazing food and friendly staff. A true hidden gem. Worth the drive up the hill. Keep an eye out for the gate though, there is a big car park opposite.
Oscar S — Google review
Food was amazing, the atmosphere is also mesmerizing. However the staff could be a bit more smiling and welcoming. Personally for me it felt a bit awkward. The wine that they produce tastes amazing! It is written online that they take card, but when you go there the first think they say is that they take only cash! You also don’t get a lot of food for the money! Dishes are not kid friendly, since they are chilli/peppery. Overall ok experience, concerning taste and location, but I would not go there again.
Dima G — Google review
The restaurant is situated at a very nice and different location with views from the island's mountains. The menu is fixed with a limited amount of choices, but is designed in order to have them all work together extremely well. All of the dishes we got to try were very good and all of the portion sizes were abundant. We received various appetizers, some bottles of water, pasta, risotto, meat, sausages, and three different desserts and ended up paying a stunning low bill of 60€ for 2 people. The staff was very friendly and service was extremely fast and efficient.

During a recent vacation, I stumbled upon Ristorante Il Delfino and was impressed by its outstanding food and service. The owner, Giuseppe, showcased the fresh fish they had caught that day, adding to the remarkable experience. The warm ambiance of the place made me feel welcome, prompting me to return for a second night. With their delicious bruschetta and fresh fish dishes paired with delightful wine selections, this restaurant truly offers the best of the best.
The best place we ate in Ischia, amazing seafood and lovely staff. 100% recommend, would have eaten here every night if given the chance!
Alexandra K — Google review
We came two persons for the late dinner. Antipasti MIX was amazing and cost 25€, but pasta with prawns and other with some kind of crab were tasteless :( Also the fish was offered as fillet, but came out as a full fish which cost around 70€. So i total with bottle of wine (20€), beer for my husband and some side dishes, we spent 180€. Everything would be nice and the price would be ok, if taste in all dishes would be better. In this case, price was way too high.

It could have been a full score but don’t serve me hot rosé. Even if you brought a ice bucket. You have the best tomatoes ever. Fish good. The view is great. But you are to buzzy. On the beach. Outside serving. WC. No parking. A bit upper. Good on fish.

Day 4

Keep it simple
For day 4, these 5 places should be enough to fill your day with something exciting to do in Barano d'Ischia. Start the day with Terme di Cavascura and make your way through the city to get to Sant'Angelo. This should take about 8 hours of your day.

Terme di Cavascura is a historical site with thermal springs like Cavascura, Olmitiello, and Nitrodi. The area was settled by ancient Greeks in 770 BC and features scenic canyons and footpaths leading to the thermal springs. Visitors can take a taxi boat from Sant'Angelo's square to Fumarole beach to access the springs.
It was next to the place where I was staying so I decided to try one day when the weather was not very good for the beach. Not overcrowded (maybe because it is a beginning of October), quiet, nice location and surroundings. Receptionist who speaks English and is quite nice. I had an hour of massage and a bath for extra 20 euro that could be included in the price I think. Overall not bad experience and I recommend if you stay nearby.

About as authentic an experience as you can get! Really amazing place with history literally seeping out of the walls. Staff could be a bit more interested in what they're doing and show a bit of enthusiasm but the place speaks for itself.
Andy P — Google review
The facilities are indeed ancient, like from the time of the cavemen. Though the prices are high, the personnel can't speak a word of english and isn't even friendly. They smoke right next to the smoke forbidden sign. The road there isn't good either. The Kneipp bath has quite a warm 'cold' part, no cold water in the shower either. And apart from the treatments there is nothing to do and nowhere to hide from the sun. Spend your money in other thermae. My wife tells me at least the mud was good, so one star for that.
Robert H — Google review
Totally worth the experience ! Was unsure at first due to pictures, but in real life this place is so beautiful ! Had full mud, sauna and thermal bath. Felt wonderful towards my muscle aches. Recommend to go there early. Taxi boat from St. Angelo. First day we walked from St Angelo and it was a very challenging 20min walk ! 😅😱 very happy for the taxi boat on the way back

Cavascura is a very interesting experience. They offer packages including masks and massages. We took the basic hot bath in a stone tub, which was very relaxing. The sauna cave was good as well. The place is very small, so it gets crowded quickly. When we visited, it was luckily nearly empty. We took a boat ride from San Angelo to get there. To return, you have to wait at a designated pickup spot at the beach. The waiting time was about 10-15 minutes. Alternatively, you can also walk from San Angelo.

Pro's: relaxed, nature, special place, friendly, exotic, some speak English Con's: bit expensive, certain thing are on a timer, small Went on a really hot and sunny day. Took the 35€ deal, that included a bath, Turkish sauna, full body clay and chair to relax on with a parasol. Had to wait about 20 minutes before a place was available (come on time if you don't want to wait a bit). Fruit drink with ice cost 5€, that is also fine. If you arrive in porto Ischia, buy a day bus ticket and take bus #5 that goes to Monsanti and exit at the final stop, you'll have to walk around 15 minutes via the beach, including a large steep part in order to reach the place. All in all, please visit this. Paying with card is possible. Internet is quite slow here.

The place is in Maronti beach’s area even if a bit off the beaten track. We decided to come here because of the good reviews and were not disappointed at all. The food was delicious: we had parmigiana di melanzana as starter and pasta aglio olio e peperoncino and pasta with clams as first dishes and everything tasted great! On the top of that Vincenzo, the owner of the place, is a very special person. He came to speak with us few times and made us feel at home. The only regret that we had is that we couldn’t eat anymore! (You might want to book a table in advance because the place is often fully booked, especially during summer).

Excellent service. The place is beautiful, cool, and quiet. I celebrated my birthday there, but I plan to return often.

Bar
Bar Epomeo is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, offering a great place to relax and enjoy quality food and drinks. The bar provides classic bruschetta, caprese with buffalo mozzarella, as well as beer, wine, and limoncello. Situated in a beautiful garden with coastal views, it's an ideal stop before or after hiking up Mount Epomeo.
Beautiful location to sit in the garden with a view down to the coastline. The food was very tasty we had the zingara and Bruschetta. The tomatoes used are just incredible. Highly recommend a stop off here just before or after the hike up to Mt. Epomeo.

Good views. We weren’t hungry so only had a bruschetta and some drinks. They brought us pastries and limoncello, which we’d not ordered and to which we said no. At the end they gave us a bill for €23 not itemised. Would avoid for aggressive service

Random prices for espresso. Second day was half of the price :) Other than that, it's ok.

Local bar. Local style. Lots of trekking people comes in. WC. Water. Coffee. Bus station outside. Friendly staff

It’s a bar. Calice di vino is like 300ml and is good wine. La zingara is enough for anybody.

Best Sfogliatelle on the island. We also loved the Bruschetta. Nice outside area. Reasonably priced. I can totally recommend this bar before and/or after your hike to Monte Epomeo.

Good capuccino and sfogliatella. The view is awesome and the staff is friendly

Your options are bruschetta or a meat/cheese plate. They have beer and wine, and ostensibly limoncello. It will likely be the best meal of your life, after the climb to the top and back (it doesn't seem like much, 800 meters) but Epomeo takes it out of you.
