L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele, a historic pizzeria in Napoli, has been serving what many consider the best pizza in the city for over 150 years. It gained international fame after being featured in 'Eat Pray Love,' attracting both locals and tourists. The pizzeria offers only two types of pizzas - margherita and marinara - making it a vegetarian-friendly spot.
Absolutely worth the wait — even if it’s a long one! My tip: go around 12 PM, when the line is shorter — we were seated inside within 10 minutes. The interior is spacious and keeps an authentic, slightly old-school charm that adds to the local feel. And the pizza was incredible. The tomato sauce was rich and flavorful, the mozzarella was perfect, but the highlight was the beautifully leopard-spotted dough — soft, chewy, and full of character. The portion size was huge (even larger than the plate!), and for the price, it’s an amazing deal. The inside is also pleasantly cool — a huge plus on a hot Neapolitan day — though it does make the mozzarella firm up a little faster. One thing I missed was a house wine option; it would’ve complemented the meal perfectly. Bottom line: a must-try spot in Naples.

It was great visiting here. Loved the pizza. People were nice. No rushing to clear the table at the time when we went. Had a Margherita pizza, which was absolutely delicious. I was so hooked on to the taste, that I found out that they have an operational branch in Amsterdam as well and I visited them yesterday. It was the same taste and I loved it.
Ayush A — Google review
Very good pizza and very good flavour! It is and will be a long wait. You will wait an hour so I recommend getting a table because why not - the queue is the same! The pizza was very good, it did take a while so it came out a little colder than expected. But the leoparding was good, the flavour of everything in that pizza was incredible. The dough, the sauce, the cheese and everything. Unbelievably good. There are not many types of pizza but you do not need many flavours of that pizza. It was worth getting any!
Andrei C — Google review
After almost one hour of waiting we managed to get inside as a group of 7 people. The system is a bit confusing and we got there on the time when they were letting all the people out, cleaning the tables and only after letting all the people who are waiting in. We got there around 15:30. It’s not the ideal time. If you are very hungry you have to consider the waiting. There is a separate queue for the take away pizza. It’s a bit difficult to talk with the staff managing the queue. When you want to eat inside you have to ask for the number and tell the number of people dining in. The wait inside for the pizza wasn’t long at all considering that we were taking 5 pizzas. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Pizza was very good but not sure if it was great ale worth this wait. We just went there as the place is famous. In general we were happy about this experience. The price was great too, very cheap for this famous place.
Marta P — Google review
I was brought to try this pizza place by a local. In general we didn’t have to wait too long to be seated, approximately 10 minutes. We were there for lunch around 14:00, but from what I’ve heard the queue can get quite long in the late evening. The service was a bit questionable, they weren’t very friendly, which might be caused by the very chaotic environment. The price of the pizza is exceptional. You can rarely find a place that serves delicious pizza for only 6 euro. The taste as well was superb. I would gladly go back.
Stiliyan S — Google review
Fantastic experience! The pizza is incredibly delicious! Definitely the best pizza I’ve had in my life! My recommendation: don’t wait for a table inside. Instead, join the takeaway line and eat at the standing tables across the street — trust me, the experience is much better. This pizzeria truly deserves its Michelin stars🤯😍🔥
Gio — Google review
one of the most famous pizzerias in the world. they have multiple rooms across the street to accommodate the huge amount of people that come by. takeaway worked very quickly for me. i only waited 10min. the pizza was incredible and it was very affordable. not overrated and definitely worth the hype
Vic P — Google review
I saw the video from IG and expected to be super crowded because if the reviews. We came on a Wednesday 6:30pm and there was zero line. Literally shocked. I'm glad we came during dinner instead of lunch! The pizza was huge but so soft, chewy and light. I love it. Super flavorful. Highly recommend! Quite different from other pizza place. It's light and so thin. A must go. We paid 8 euro for dine in.

The Complesso Monumentale di Santa Chiara is a religious complex in Naples dating back to the 1300s. It includes a vast church, beautifully adorned with 17th-century frescos and exquisite majolica tiling. The cloister garden offers a serene escape with fragrant citrus trees and lilac lavender blooms, along with 72 ceramic-tiled columns decorated with hand-painted flowers, grapes, and rural scenes.
Beautiful spot. Worth the entry fee. The bibleoteca is worth a look too... There is a cute little pool/pond area for sitting. Keep in mind that there may be some restoration work happening.

A small but charming monastery in the heart of Naples. The famous courtyard, which is usually the highlight, was unfortunately under construction during my visit, which took away some of the atmosphere. Still, it’s a peaceful and beautiful spot, offering a welcome break from the busy streets outside. The adjoining church is very impressive and definitely worth a visit.
Lisa L — Google review
This was on my to-do list in Napoli and I'm glad we visited. For 7 euros tickets, it's totally worth it. You start in a movie room that tells you the history of the monastery and then you walk between drawings carved on the walls from a side and ceramic tiles on the others. The garden is amazing and has lemon and olive trees. There's a small museum and a small archeological site.
Ahmad S — Google review
A beautiful courtyard to sit and relax in. I didn’t find the ruins interesting as there isn’t anything left to see. The museum inside is small but has some interesting things to check out.
Rob — Google review
Beautiful tiles with various scenes and figures. When we visited parts were being restored but they left a section open to the public.

This place was so beautiful and not many tourists come here. The walls are beautiful, although when we went on September 6th there were some constructions happening.

Peaceful and stunning — a must-visit in Naples Complesso Monumentale di Santa Chiara is a true oasis in the heart of Naples. The beautiful cloister with its hand-painted majolica tiles is absolutely breathtaking — peaceful, colorful, and full of charm. The museum and archaeological remains add depth to the visit, giving a real sense of the site's long and layered history. Everything is well maintained and thoughtfully presented. If you're looking for a moment of calm away from the city's chaos, this is the perfect spot. Highly recommended!

Sansevero Chapel Museum, located in the heart of Naples, is a hidden gem that might be easily overlooked. Originally built in the 17th century and later remodeled by Prince Raimondo di Sangro in the 18th century, it houses a collection of remarkable sculptures created by renowned artists. The chapel features unique Baroque-style architecture and is home to mysterious and symbolic sculptures, including a veiled Christ made from marble.
impressive... looks surreal... can't belive my eyes it's a whole piece of marble. Last time we were in Naples couldn't get in- worth ordering the tickets beforehand. PS: still can't understand why taking pics is strictly forbidden- one can't remember it all, taking pics, zooming in and studying is a way to extand uour stay long after you're gone. So, here you can see the brand of jewelry that's sold in the shop- not sure it is silver, although they assured me it is- no marks on the btacelet I bought there}
Ani B — Google review
The Veiled Christ sculpture is without a doubt the most impressive. The way the marble looks like a delicate, transparent veil over Jesus is unbelievable. I honestly couldn’t believe it was carved from a single block of marble. It’s one of the most beautiful and emotional pieces of art I’ve ever seen. The other piece that really stood out to me was the one with the marble net (Il Disinganno). The fine detail in the net is just mind blowing. Although the chapel isn’t very big, every part of it is full of intricate art and symbolism. I do wish we could take photos, but I also understand why it’s not allowed, it helps you focus more on the moment. Highly recommend booking in advance, as it can get very crowded. But it’s 100% worth visiting!!
Charlotte N — Google review
The highlight of my trip is Guiseppe Sanmartino’s Veiled Christ in the Sansevero Chapel Museum in the heart of Napoli’s old city. I have been waiting for this moment since for 2 years when i first learnt about this incredible masterpiece. The thinness, fluidity and transparency of the veil, the expression on the face and body of Christ as he laid in the tomb is remarkable and hard to imagine that the material is marble. Very unforgettable an experience. The staff are helpful and excellent in managing crowd flow. The chapel is small and the experience of entering in is intense and mystical. Too bad no photography of any kind is allowed but there were books to purchase at the end. I wish there were more literature on Guiseppe Sanmartino’s life and history. This great craftsman remains a mystery to me for now.
Janice H — Google review
Another artistic treasure in Naples, so much to see it was overwhelming! The intricate detail is astounding!! Definitely worth a look see!!
Jan A — Google review
So there is no warning online when you buy the expensive tickets that you can not take photos inside. Which is fine, people would take a long time if everyone took photos, and it is a small chapel. However you can not take photos in the store of the postcards either. I find that ridiculous for the price of 12€ entry to this tiny thing. Also typical rude Napolitans employees, but that is expected i guess.
Tünde P — Google review
An absolute must-see in Naples. Although the San Severo Chapel is just one single room, it’s one of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever visited. The sculptures and frescoes inside are stunning, with an incredible level of detail and realism. It’s really worth getting the audio guide, as it explains in depth the history and meaning behind each sculpture and fresco. Without it, you miss a lot of context and can’t fully appreciate what you’re seeing. For such a short visit, it’s definitely worth it. The visit takes around 20–30 minutes, and it never feels long or heavy. It’s short, fascinating, and full of beauty. If you’re in Naples, it’s an essential stop — a small gem you shouldn’t miss.
Jordi P — Google review
Extraordinary marble statue of Christ lying covered by a shroud. But taking photos is strictly enforced. A disappointment as a result. Audio guide is sold inside and extra cost. Very popular. We had to buy tickets for a specific hour online

Discover the hidden world of Underground Naples, a vast network of ancient tunnels and chambers that lie beneath the modern streets of the city. This underground city spans over 40 miles and dates back to ancient Greek times when it was used for stone extraction. Over the centuries, it was expanded by Romans and Bourbons for various purposes including as an aqueduct. Visitors can explore this mystical place, descending about 40 meters below street level to witness remnants of the Greek-Roman theatre and other historical sites.
Booked direct on their website which was easy. I would suggest a moderate amount of fitness due to the steps. A busy tour of 40 people, which did not impact on the quality of the tour. The guide gave clear information which everyone heard. For the price, this tour is more than worth the money. The history was mostly Greek & Roman. Highly recommend.
Louise K — Google review
Very cool experience - 45 meters underground and full of history from ancient times to WW2. The tour also includes a short tour of a hidden playhouse that is neat. Definitely buy tickets online & in advance to skip the line. In regard to others' claustrophobia warnings - the part that is very bad (12 inches wide & 4 ish inches tall at some points) can be skipped so you can still enjoy the tour.
Andrew C — Google review
Somewhat interesting. The guide wasn’t loud enough at times, some words I didn’t understand and people were talking, also the group was like 50, way too big. The tunnels were fun to go into and the area in general is pretty interesting. The wine cellar at the end was cool but very small. Women at the ticket counter wasn’t sure you if you could get online tickets and when I returned with an online ticket, she scanned it… why she couldn’t just say you could is beyond me, language barrier or just not too interested in your job who knows. Get an online ticket to get in faster, cash only otherwise.
Rob — Google review
fascinating experience. The guided tour through Napoli Sotterranea gives a completely different view of the city’s history — from ancient aqueducts to World War II shelters. The guide was knowledgeable and made it easy to imagine life underground. The passages are narrow at some points, so good shoes are a must. Definitely worth visiting if you want to see something unique in Naples.
Nabil N — Google review
The group size is too big. 57 people in one group is too much. At the entrance it was chaos. We bought our ticket online. It said to bypass the queue, only to be send back at the end of the queue. At the smallest part we had to go back because another group entered at the other side. One woman started to panic and the guide didn't even notice. The upper part was done by another guide. He walked very fast and we lost him somewhere. Also his voice was soft. The group was quiet, but still at the back you couldn't hear what he was saying. It was nice what was shown, but the big group spoiled it somehow.
Bas S — Google review
Ok so I have mixed feelings about this. First of all, when you arrive it's a huge chaos at the entrance. Why don't they put ropes with 2 lines to separate the tours by language and then some passage to let people with online tickets to pass in front of everyone (since it's a SKIP THE LINE ticket!!) Then... There are just too many people in each group. I think there were at least 60 in our group. This creates a huge problem with people pushing to take photos and another problem when the guide is talking and half of these people are talking so you can't hear anything! The tour itself is nice, there's a very very narrow passage where you can't be claustrophobic otherwise it will be a problem. For my surprise, this is a 2 part tour. The first one is the underground itself then they will take you by foot in the streets further to another place which doesn't add much apart from the "surprise" (no spoilers). Another problem: these tour guides are basically formatted robots. They learnt the lines and that's it. I'm sure they know nothing about the underground, in our case our guide was asked several questions to which he answered "I have no idea" to almost all of them. The funniest one was a girl asking how they pumped the water and he answer was "it's physics".....
Sidónio S — Google review
Interesting tour experience with the main attraction being a few yards under the main street level. Used during major historical operation like WW2 and remnants of ancient civilization was unique. The display case showed figures in German SS patrol outfits to illustrate Italy under German occupation in the 40’s. The guide was ok but clear she didn’t have a lot of public speaking experience. She was hard to understand tho seemed to be doing her best with the crowd. The tight tunnels were interesting though again info was not clear of what things were used for so there was a lot of guessing to be done.

The Duomo di Napoli, also known as the Cattedrale di San Gennaro, is a lavish cathedral in Naples with a neo-Gothic facade and art-filled chapels. Despite not receiving as much attention as its counterparts in Florence and Milan, this magnificent cathedral is a must-see on any Italian itinerary. The complex spiritual, social, political, and cultural history of Naples is reflected in the mish-mash of architectural and religious elements resulting from numerous modifications over the centuries.
I guess a Duomo in any Italian head of state will be amazing, and this one does not fail to impress. You are overwhelmed by an immensely lofty space, filled to the rafters with gold, marble, religious iconography and a sense of intense religious admiration. The high altar itself is worth at least a long moments contemplation to fully grasp all the elements of which it is composed. The rear golden windows cladding the Virgin with light, the white marble of figures bathed in light. A lofty light looking and impressing sculptural masterpiece. Every angle of this cathedral offers new details to discover, niches for meditation, prayer and contemplation... and an altogether awe inspiring visit. I might add that it may be worth paying a few extra euros to enter the chapel and treasury of San Gennaro as this for me is truly a highlight of the church! Duration: around 30 minutes Satiafaction: 100%
Chris B — Google review
Naples’ Duomo is officially the Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta and is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin. However, it is better known as the Cattedrale di San Gennaro, the city’s patron saint. The saint’s blood is contained in an ampoule and liquefies at 3 points within the year. This phenomenon has resulted in strong local and national devotion, reflected in the great beauty of the place. A separate section of the Duomo, too, houses rich offerings (frequently masterpieces) that have been donated to San Gennaro over the centuries by popes, kings and wealthy devotees. There is a fee (€14) to enter this section.

A stunning cathedral. My wife and I can across this place while casually wandering around the shops. It snuck up on us a little bit, we knew of it but not its exact location. And what a wonderful surprise it was. Perhaps the most beautiful building we've ever been in. Just look at the pics which give an idea. It's free, but I'd suggest donating.
Drew Y — Google review
The Duomo Di Santa Maria Assunta is the main Catholic church in Naples and is just a short walk up the road from a Duomo metro station. This is a very impressive building. Very ornately decorated. As one of the main tourist attractions in Naples, it can get quite busy, but the place still holds a significant level of reverence as you wander around and enjoy the many paintings and artefacts within. Entry to the Duomo is free, however, if you wish to visit the Treasury of San Genarro where you can view some of the famous artefacts including the vial of blood purporting to include the blood of San Genarro there is a small fee. Overall a visit will take you. Probably your visit will need no longer than half an hour and the place has clean and disabled friendly toilets.
Stu R — Google review
The Duomo, built in the 13th century and dedicated to San Gennaro, is a stunning fusion of Gothic, Baroque, and Neo-Gothic styles. Its chapel holds the relics of the city’s patron saint, and the annual miracle of his liquefying blood draws crowds and devotion. Worth stepping inside, even just for a moment of stillness —a spiritual and architectural anchor in the city’s vibrant chaos. Free entry.
Ana S — Google review
Beautiful and historic cathedral in the heart of Naples. The interior is stunning with tall arches, frescoes, and golden details. It’s also famous for the miracle of San Gennaro
Kasemsan P — Google review
The Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta, also known as the Naples Cathedral, was constructed between the 13th and 14th centuries and built over earlier Christian and Roman structures. The church blends architectural styles due to centuries of renovations following earthquakes and expansions. It houses the Chapel of San Gennaro, dedicated to the city’s patron saint, whose relics and the celebrated miracle of the liquefaction of his blood draw thousands of pilgrims each year

Pizza Fritta 1947 is a popular Naples pizzeria that offers a delicious fried pizza. This dish is a longstanding tradition and can be found at most pizzerias in the city. The Posillipo, a spin on the classic fried pizza, features rocket, lemon zest, provola and caciocavallo cheese. This restaurant is accessible for those with disabilities and serves alcohol.
A crazy experience, for me it was the best pizza fritta I ever tasted. Keep digestives at hand and dig in for the hot bubbly oily goodness. Top notch ingredients and for sure an old unchanged recipe! Must have if you’re in Napoli.

The atmosphere with lively and bright. Tables were clean and the food was decent. However the the service was somewhat slow. We also were charged more for items than the price listed on the menu. When we brought this to their attention the error was quickly rectified. Make sure to review your receipt before paying.
Deb S — Google review
Great pizza fritta, the best I have ever tried. The pizzas are quite big but they are so soft and digestible. Pizza dough is quite "salty" although it's my personal preference. The interior and the condiments have, on the other hand, the right amount of seasoning. I really suggest this place for a really good Pizza Fritta
Celio A — Google review
The food was good overall. We ordered the pizza fritta with mortadella, nothing wrong with it, but a bit too dry and flavourless for my taste. The salad was refreshing and tasty. Drinks were good, prices very reasonable, and service was fine. Worth trying if you want to experience different pizza styles in Naples.

A really fine pizza place! I know that if you are visiting this area of Naples, you are overwhelmed with the number of pizzeria and pizza choices within a 10-minute walk! This one we feel is one you should try. They have a unique way of making their crust and we devoured the pizzas we got from here. Be sure to look at all the menus because everyone has their own specialties. The service was great and the price was reasonable. We love that the name has the year 1947 in it, that is a special year for all US Air Force veterans.
Darrell B — Google review
The pizza frita were quite good, they were our very first ones. It's really different of a normal pizza, you have to try it at least once (and say goodbye to your summer body afterward) We ordered two arancini were good too.
Vincent V — Google review
In my opinion, this may not be the best fried pizza in Naples, though others might find it quite enjoyable. That said, if you’d like to try fried pizza without waiting in long lines, this place is a convenient option to avoid the crowds. And it would be great to have a wider selection of beers.
Mango R — Google review
This place is a little different than the rest of the pizzerias as they specialize in fried pizzas. The meal is heavier than most places. But the taste is well worth it. Come hungry. Seating is also limited to the sidewalk so keep that in mind. But the staff were polite and made great recommendations.

Pizzas were great and service was fast. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is that the sides we ordered were terrible. The zucchini flowers lacked flavour (besides the taste of old fryer oil), and the mozzarella and tomato salad was not good (mainly due to the baffling inclusion of iceberg lettuce and corn).

I only ate 1 pizza in Napoli, and it was here. I don't know if it's better than other places around, but compared to other cities in Italy... this is the best pizza! Simple and traditional pizzas. Hope to come back again. (There is a pizza in Sardignia that competes for top spot... :))) )

Pizza restaurant Donna Sofia Ai Tribunali | Napoli offers delicious wood-fired pizza and fried appetizers. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making it a great place to eat out. Their pizzas are especially good, with perfect crusts and tasty toppings. If you're looking for a good bite in Naples, Pizzeria Donna Sofia Ai Tribunali | Napoli is definitely worth a visit!
I was afraid that it would be one more tourist trap in the city center but it really isn’t. The most simple margherita pizza was literally mouthwatering. High quality products! The portions are quite large but we kept eating despite being extremely full because it was just too delicious. The waitresses all welcome you with a big smile ! I recommend it hands down.

My husband and I visited this restaurant while on holiday in Naples. We found it down a little side street. The food was good (we had pizza and chips and finished with wine). The wine was very nice and the service was excellent. We would definitely go back if we were in the area again.

If you're looking for an authentic Neapolitan pizza experience with a friendly service, this pizzeria in the historic center of Naples is a must visit. As we are walking in the city, we randomly picked this place and we are happy with our decision. Service here is impressively fast. We order a custom made veggie pizza. The pizza dough is light and airy with the perfect char, the tomato sauce bursts with fresh, spicy flavor, and the mozzarella melts beautifully in every bite. Whether you go for a classic Margherita or a more adventurous topping combination, you're in for a treat. We surely visit this place again in future .

Great tasting pizza, especially the classic margarita and devil pizzas. Also ordered the fried pumpkin flower and special tricolore pizza that was good. The classic choices were the best from the 3 pizzas. All this was more than enough for 4 people. Service was ok. No feeling of welcome and attribute that to being a tourist spot. Large groups do dine here so it gets busy.

Wonderful place to sit down and have some of Naples' best known pizzas and specialties. The croquettes were delicious! The fried pizza and Margherita pizzas we had were also quite tasty. The dining area is clean and the service is very friendly. Glad we tried this place for lunch.

One of my favourite pizzerias ever. The pizza was beautiful, and pretty much one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The service was also excellent and the waiters and waitresses were the most accommodating I've had in all of Italy and made us feel welcome and ensured we were well throughout the night. The wine paired perfectly with the pizza, and was well selected by the business. The interior was very nice, as was the ambience. Finally the prices were really reasonable (cheap), making this restaurant an absolute screaming bargain. Easy 5/5 - 10/5 if possible, a fantastic experience on the whole.

This is the best pizza I have ever had, hands down. We got the Margherita Speciale Buffala DOP (since I am allergic to the nuts in fiordilatte). This pizza made me understand why people say Naples has the best pizza. We went early, when they opened, so the place was empty and the staff was very attentive. They don't speak too much English though, so your questions may not get answered.

Italian restaurant
Ristorante Europeo Mattozzi is a charming and cozy restaurant located in an antique-filled space. The walls are adorned with copper cookware, old paintings, and ceramic dishes, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's situated near historic landmarks like Piazza Bovio and the Chamber of Commerce. The restaurant offers classic Neapolitan cuisine, including pasta, pizza, grilled seafood plates, stuffed fried zucchini flowers, and signature peach bellinis made with fresh pureed peaches.
Probably the best meal we had in Napoli - the photos don’t do it justice. Everything was cooked perfectly with so much flavour! The pasta Genovese was a standout (as was the lemon tart).

I liked very much the “timelessness” of the place. Very much Italy in the 1960s! Equally, the food is nice and simple yet very tasty. Where else to eat “pasta e patate” if not here!

Group of 5 of us went for lunch on our last day in Naples. Arrived right on 12:30 as they opened and they welcomed us with a great table. Impeccable service, very kind waiters even though we don’t speak Italian. Delicious food and great traditional interior.
Sian P — Google review
This is a typical Neapolitan restaurant, and it’s plenty of Neapolitan customers, which means you can find here the real, and well done, traditional recipes. You can find on the walls a lot of pictures telling the long story of the restaurant, which was started about 100 years ago and is now at the third generation managed by the same family. There is attention during the service. Appetizers with buffalo mozzarella, eggplant parmigiana and fried zucchini flowers, then special soups with beans and seafood or chickpeas and chestnuts, then pasta alla genovese or puttanesca with amberjack and capers. To finish babà with rum and caprese chocolate cake. All served on timely manner for a table of 10 people. The price is right.
Emanuele B — Google review
Time out wrote “Run by the charming Alfonso Mattozzi, who greets all his customers like old friends at the door” and yes, this is the welcome you can expect if you are Italian. However if you are foreign, despite all your best efforts to be polite and attempt to speak in Italian you will be met with surly, contemptuous waiting staff who maintain a steady level of rudeness throughout. Having said that the food was the best we had in Naples and the restaurant itself was very nice.
Chloe C — Google review
Nice place with the spirit of Napoli, good quality food but EXAGGERATEDLY highly priced. The owner and the waiters were so kind, we got offered an appetizer to endure hunger waiting our turn to be seated. But nothing is for free; as a matter of fact, all the kindness was to justify the highly marked-up prices and after a theatrical generous discount, we ended up paying 60€ for a shared entrée, a shared main dish and a shared dessert. 🤔 Ps: We were lucky they had a typical band playing Neapolitan traditional songs at the end of the evening and it was enjoyable.
Boutros L — Google review
Still has the classy Italian atmosphere which doesn’t appear a lot these days. The owners are there, you feel how much they give importance to customers, service, quality. Must try when you are in Naples. The food is delicious too. We missed some traditions so I’m writing down for you to not miss it. Order a pizza to share at the beginning even if you are 2, small mozzarella and tomatoes to share, fried plate or only some for ex. Fried zucchini flowers to taste and then primi piatti for yourselves and if there is still a place a secondi piatti to fell the restaurant at most. Enjoy!
Dilara H — Google review
Most of the bad reviews you'll read are from Americans expecting the staff to crawl on their hands and knees to welcome them. If you make an effort to say hello, please and thank you in Italian they will be more than nice. I do not care if the server frowns, he was very professional, and brought us delicious food. Speaking of the food, I had the bean and cuttlefish soup and it was out of this world. Naples has good seafood but this was the best I had on my trip. The pricing is extremely reasonable for the quality of the food and the comfort of the place. You can tell it's worth going because locals eat there and recommend it. Grazzie mille !

Castle
Ovo Castle, also known as Castel dell'Ovo, is an imposing fortress and former royal residence located in Naples. It is the oldest remaining fortification in the city, dating back to the 6th century BC. The castle's name originates from a legend about Virgil, a renowned Roman poet who was believed to have placed a magical egg into its foundation. Another version suggests that it was named for its unique shape.
Name one ‘free’ place that gives both Mt. Vesuvius and the panoramic view of Napoli city. Yes, it’s Ovo Castle! It may not be a must visit destination in Napoli. There’s no exciting activity within the castle. But it is a perfect place where you can unwind for 1/2 hr. It’s a perfect place to go if you have extra 45 minutes before your ferry takes you to Capri/Amalfi. Pretty charming place. You should visit if you are around the area.
Richard Y — Google review
Castle on the island, the third one in Naples that we saw, currently under some kind of renovation. There are lots of restaurants around it, so it's in the center of night life. Still it's another massive old monument of Naples grand history.
Maciej P — Google review
Unfortunately, the castle itself is currently under construction, so we couldn’t explore the interior. However, going there at night was still worth it. The scenery was beautiful with a pleasant atmosphere all around. The area is lively, with plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby, making it a nice spot for an evening walk or dinner.

Beautiful area but a lot of construction going on around it so difficult to get the perfect view. Lovely walk down there from the old town.

Castel dell’Ovo was closed and surrounded by scaffolding for restoration, which ruined the view. The area underneath with restaurants felt crowded and uncomfortable, with unpleasant smells in the air. Overall, was not an enjoyable visit.

it was beautiful and unbelievable an oceanfront castle. It is free to go up inside and to the roof. Another name of the castle is Egg castle (sounds very cute) The castle is rectangular in plan, approximately 200 by 45 metres at its widest and the castle is popular for newlyweds to have their wedding photos taken. Inside the castle walls are several buildings that are often used for exhibitions and other special events. if you have some extra time, there are some good views on the top.

We had the pleasure of visiting Ovo Castle in Naples, Italy. Nestled on the picturesque islet of Megaride, the castle's location is nothing short of stunning. The panoramic views of the Bay of Naples from the castle are breathtaking and offer a unique perspective of the city and Mount Vesuvius. The history of Ovo Castle is fascinating, dating back to Roman times. Walking through its ancient walls, I felt a deep connection to the past. The castle has undergone various transformations over the centuries, serving as a fortress, a royal residence, and even a prison. This rich history is palpable in every stone and corridor. One of the highlights of my visit was exploring the various rooms and halls inside the castle. Although some areas show signs of aging, they add to the authentic charm of the place. The exhibitions inside provide valuable insights into the castle's history and cultural significance in Naples. Accessibility to the castle is quite convenient. It's a short walk from the mainland, connected by a causeway. The entry fee was reasonable, and the castle wasn't overly crowded, allowing for a more intimate exploration. However, I did notice that some parts of the castle could benefit from better maintenance and signage. Information in English was limited in certain areas, which might be challenging for international tourists. Overall, Ovo Castle is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or simply looking for a picturesque spot in Naples. It's a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and a window into the rich tapestry of Neapolitan history.

Gran Caffè Gambrinus, a 19th-century coffee house located near via Toledo and Plebiscito Square in Naples, is a historical gem that has stood the test of time. Adorned with statues, paintings, and frescos by renowned Italian artists, this elegant café is steeped in literary history and known for its role in popularizing the concept of 'suspended coffee.'
We had a wonderful experience at Cambrinus in Naples. The lemon sorbet was refreshing, the cappuccino was great, and we also tried a delicious local specialty filled with ham and cheese. Everything was very tasty, including the tea. The atmosphere felt like being in a museum – so beautiful and elegant. We were given a lovely table right by the window, and the staff provided excellent service. Truly a memorable visit!🫶🏼

The food was generous, rich in flavor and the patisserie crunchy and sweet, the waiters don’t really seem to enjoy their gig, but that’s pretty avg in Napoli (or Italy). In spite of that, the service is fast as almost everything just needs to be warmed up. Coffee is great and fresh OJ is a little ray of sunshine trough the overall experience.

They have on of the best pastries in Italy. But the service could be better and the place could be taken care better. We went there twice, one time for breakfast and other for an afternoon coffee. On both occasions the service was pretty average. The coffee nothing special, but the pastries. Perfection! The best of all was the sfogliatella, nice layers of perfect crust with a filling that wasn't too sweet. I recommend for a good pastry treat in Naples.

Centrally located, prime spot for people watching and beautiful building. This is by far one of the best espresso we had during our trip in Italy. So good that we went back 3 times in total during our visit in Naples. The pastries were great too.. as for the service as expected during high season. Fatigue, not very friendly.. probably sick of tourists like us and under staff given they didn't open a section of the restaurant and would rather have customers wait in the queue. Worth a visit.. just don't expect much from the service. Pastries and espresso.. definitely Yes! Absolutely love their menu, photos and descriptions. Perfect!!

Great spot for breakfast, we came here a couple of times. Fantastic people watching and great location to sit and enjoy your morning food. Coffee is good, pastries are fresh and delicious and the staff are brilliant. It is a touch on the pricey side for Naples but it is worth it. The selection of drinks is probably the most substantial of all the spots we went to in Naples. One thing I will say is I stopped off for a late afternoon Sfogliatella and unlike in the morning which was brilliant this time it had very obviously been sat for many hours and the filling had gone a bit past its best so I would recommend if you want the pastries go at breakfast when they have just been made as they are brilliant. I had the best pain au chocolat of my life here

We stopped by this café and it was such a delightful experience! The coffee was excellent, their pastries were fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere is charming and elegant. The staff were very kind and attentive, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy authentic Italian coffee and dessert in a beautiful setting.

Gran Caffè Gambrinus is a place that leaves a lasting impression with just a single cup of coffee. I stopped by briefly for one espresso — the “strapazzato” — and that short moment completely redefined what coffee means to me. Though I spent no more than five minutes there, the depth, aroma, and intensity of that cup made time feel suspended. It wasn’t just about caffeine; it was about heritage, craftsmanship, and emotion in a cup. It’s rare to find a place where such a simple experience feels so profound. I know that even if I return years later, that brief memory — and the anticipation of tasting it again — will stay with me for a very long time.
Dave — Google review
An interesting place and very unusual because of the way you place your order. First, you go to the counter, order from the cashier and then you go to the bar or the pastry section. It can be very confusing for tourists because there are no signs explaining what to do or how it works. My recommendation is to first take a look at all the cake names and then go to the counter. All in all, the coffee is excellent and the cakes are unbelievably beautiful and delicious. Definitely a place you must visit!

Royal Palace of Naples

Museum
The Royal Palace of Naples, a 17th-century palace, boasts period furnishings, a home theatre, and a lavish ballroom that has been restored after war damage. The palace is part of the rich cultural heritage in Naples, along with other attractions such as Castel Sant'Elmo and Museo del Novecento.
We have been sight seeing for over a week and this is worth the money if you love art and architecture. It is breathtaking and you could spend half a day soaking in all of the rooms. Truly worth the money. They are doing renovations so gardens were not accessible and one of the upstairs major rooms... but don't let that stop you from enjoying this amazing historical site. Note... the theatre room is a great please to cool off and rest a minute if you have been walking a while. The extra money for the roof top garden access added on was worth it for the views.
Brian H — Google review
Would recommend. It gets a little tricky to dong your way about. Have to purchase tickets for the inside walk about The outside is free. There was some construction going on so wasn't able to walk through the garden. The view was amazing when you are walking through the palace.
Tye S — Google review
It's incredible to see where royalty once lived, though, due to successive changes, adoptions and reconstructions, a lot of the lived-in feeling has been lost. The interiors are sumptuous and you really have an idea of the wealth of its inhabitants. No beds, bathrooms or much of the original furniture is left, so one must imagine what the rooms may have originally looked like before they became state apartments. It is well worth a visit, but if you're wondering whether to do the Palazzo Real or the Reggia Caserta... I would highly recommend the latter. You can wander through the rooms at a leisurely pace, and adore much of the paintwork, gilt stucco, and damask clad walls. All of it is impressive upon the senses and altogether worth the visit. Duration: 30 to 45 minutes (maybe longer with and an audioguide) Satisfaction: 85%

The Royal Palace is very nice, and it seems bigger inside than from outside. The rooms are impressive. Some rooms were under construction, so we could not enter. I would recommend seeing it.

The Palazzo Reale has been the seat of power in Naples since the 1600s. It has been occupied by Spanish and Austrian viceroys, the Bourbons, the Bonapartes, the Bourbons again and then the Savoys before being turned over to the Italian state. What's seen here are the sumptuous royal apartments and state rooms. The rest of the palace is now being used for the National Library and as event spaces. While I was there, a book fair was being held in the courtyard and panels were being held in some of the old state rooms like the 'Hall of Hercules’. Absolutely gorgeous place to visit and worth the money!
JJ G — Google review
The first rooms you come across are absolutely beautiful. As you go along, it seems beautiful but sort of the same looking room after room. The signage isn’t great, some signs seemed to point you towards nothing. The art is great throughout but a bit too far to really appreciate I’d say.

The venue offers guided tours that include visits to foyers, the main hall, and the royal box.
Absolutely stunning place. The staff is very patient and great with tourists and locals alike. We came to see a opera when we where in Napoli and we’re totally amazed by the theater and the opera on the same level. It’s stunning. Even if you just come to see the inside of this amazing place you wil be stunned. We also had a opera on top what was also of ultra Hooghly quality. Ill matrimoni secreto. This is a review of the disappointing tour, not of the theatre itself. As someone who enjoys opera, I was excited to tour the Teatro di San Carlo. Opening in 1737, it is the oldest continuously-operating opera venue in the world, older than La Scala and La Fenice. I was unhappy with the tour, though. It was only 30 minutes long, given in both Italian and English (cutting the English portion even shorter), included a large group of people and consisted of only 2 spaces. It felt like a cash grab. I see from other pictures that groups were smaller and they were able to go up to the boxes. What gives?

We saw an orchestra show while in Naples for 24 hrs, it was a great experience! Gorgeous theater, great music, and staff were helpful with directing. We were unable to purchase tickets online but bought tickets same day at the ticket office without issues. Appreciate the affordable ticket prices, highly recommend!

Stepping into the Teatro di San Carlo feels like entering a fairytale. This historic opera house, one of the oldest and most prestigious in the world, is a masterpiece of elegance and grandeur. The rich red velvet, the golden balconies, and the dazzling chandelier create an atmosphere that takes your breath away. The acoustics are superb, and the performances match the beauty of the space. It’s more than a theatre — it’s a place where history, art, and magic come together. A must-visit for lovers of culture and beauty.

The oldest continually operating opera house in the world – and absolutely worth a guided tour! The theatre is breathtaking, with its frescoed ceiling and countless elegant details. I loved learning about the mirrors in each box, designed so the King could see every guest. Another fascinating detail: there is no box number 17. Instead, it’s labeled 16 BIS, since in Italian culture 17 is considered unlucky (in Roman numerals, XVII can be rearranged as VIXI, meaning “I have lived,” a symbol of death). Simply fantastic and a must-see in Naples!

Very beautiful historical theatre with wonderful acoustic. If you buy tickets to the side boxes make sure it is the first or maximum the second row of the box, otherwise you will see only a part of the scene. Anna Netrebko was perfect as Amelia in Un ballo in maschera by Verdi

Galleria Umberto I is a captivating public shopping gallery located near Piazza del Plebiscito in Italy. This five-story, cross-shaped complex was built in the late 19th century and designed in the Renaissance Revival style by Emanuele Rocco. Despite experiencing damage and decay over the years, it has maintained its original purpose as a commercial center for over a century.

Galería Umberto I in Naples is a beautiful and historic shopping gallery 🏛️, with impressive architecture and a charming atmosphere. It’s a lovely place to take a stroll, enjoy a coffee (there is a nice Starbucks coffee shop there), and admire the details of the building. However, compared to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, it feels a bit less grand and less polished. When I visited, parts of the gallery were under renovation, which took away slightly from the overall experience. Still, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Naples — just not quite a five-star wow.
Stav T — Google review
If you want to enjoy the architecture of this place it's the best to come in the evening when the shops are already closed. Then you can clearly see the beautiful patterns on the ground and take nice pictures while standing in the middle. Since I was kinda interested why would you make such a thing here is a short version if you would be also interested. It was constructed between 1887 and 1890. It stands directly across from the San Carlo opera house and was a cornerstone of the city's urban renewal, known as the "risanamento." Designed by Emanuele Rocco, its grand architecture features a cross-shaped layout with a spectacular glass and iron vaulted ceiling and a central dome.
Maciej P — Google review
A graceful blend of architecture and history, a monument to Naples’ rebirth. Built from 1887 to 1890 during Naples’ urban renewal, Galleria Umberto I replaced a decaying district with rising glass domes, marble mosaics, and Neo-Renaissance flair. Inspired by Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, it was designed to blend public life (cafés, shops, and performances) with private apartments above. The gallery was named after King Umberto I, whose reign overlapped with its construction, while Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II was named after his father. Today it’s a majestic elegant passage between Via Toledo and Teatro San Carlo, perfect for strolling, admiring the beautiful architecture details, and savoring a very good cannoli at Bar Brasiliano while daydreaming in the breathtaking surroundings.

Beautiful architecture and a must-visit spot in Naples! The glass dome and marble floor are absolutely stunning. It’s a peaceful place to walk, take photos, or enjoy a coffee under the sunlight streaming through the roof. Some shops are quiet now, but the charm and history of the place make it unforgettable.

Galleria Umberto I in Naples is an elegant and light-filled shopping arcade crowned by a domed glass and steel roof. It was built between 1887 and 1890 and named after King Umberto I of Italy. The gallery was intended to create a safe and luxurious public space in a previously rundown district. Although some shops have closed and it no longer shines as it once did, it remains a stunning architectural landmark.

Pizza restaurant
Pizzeria Napoli In Bocca is a cozy and welcoming restaurant located near Teatro San Carlo, making it an ideal spot for a taste of traditional Neapolitan cuisine. The long-fermented pizza is a standout dish that keeps visitors coming back for more. Despite its small size, the pizzeria offers a warm atmosphere and attentive staff who ensure a pleasant dining experience even during busy periods.
My husband and I went here and had a full meal before we stopped here. We weren’t really hungry, but really wanted to try pizza from its birth place before we had to leave. It was SO good! On our trip to Europe we stopped at 6 Michelin starred restaurants, and we talk about this pizza more than any of the other things we’ve eaten! The sauce was so vibrant, the crust- perfection. We took it with us to finish later and had it cold, still amazing! We wish we ordered a few lol. Not to mention we spent like $12 for a bottle of wine and a pizza. Unforgettable experience for us <3

Nice little restaurant. The staff was friendly. They only had three types of pizza when we went (not sure if that is standard), but the one I had (margherita) was good. I do wish it had a bit more cheese and was cooked a little more (was by no means undercooked). I may just have a very Americanized view on pizza. The people I was with said it was one of the best pizzas they have had. The food was made fresh and came quickly. I would definitely go back.

A great little find whilst in need of lunch. The menu is limited to perfection. They know what they cook and they cook it well. The Margherita was delicious and they staff were loving. Efficient, good food and good value. Well worth a pitstop.

Delicious and enormous Margherita and drink for only €10! The pizza is large enough for two. I was impressed that it went from dough to my table in 15 minutes. This place is located on the outside perimeter of the Galleria Umberto I and a few steps from the Teatro San Carlo. So it’s a convenient stop when you visit Piazza Plebiscito.

Amazing pizza. The best we have had in Naples. Very big pizza so you may want to share if not too hungry! Had the refreshing lemon drink made in house.

My only request for Naples was to eat genuine Napoli pizza. The Pizzedia Napoli in Bocca was highly rated, so we decided to try it. The staff was nice. The server told us there were 3 pizzas to choose from: Margarita, Marinara, or Deep-fried. We chose Margarita. It was everything we hoped for!! My husband, daughter and I devoured a 14" pizza for lunch. Definitely recommend!

A great little pizzeria that has a very simple three Pizza menu. Great atmosphere, great service and the price can't be beat. All in all a wonderful eating experience.

This seafood restaurant is known for its excellent dishes of fresh fin fish and shellfish. It provides a unique dining experience within the old Borgo del Marinaro in one of Naples most important landmarks.
It was the best pasta with shrimps🫶 so delicious fresh and just amazing! On the picture it’s just one shrimp on the top but inside there’s a lot of peeled shrimps as well! So shrimp pasta is a must try! Perfect with sparkling rose wine 🫶

When you Google "tourist trap" a picture of this place should come up! How do I begin?? The prices are outrageous for the quality of the food. We ordered the Spaghetti and clams, it was tasteless, bland and small portion for 28EUR. They charge 7EUR for water without gas. The Calamari fritto was ok. All night and we had to ordered water from 3 different people, they were all running like chickens without head. I would definitely stay away from this place. You can get better food, better service and better service anywhere in Italy!! Response follow up: Quality ingredients doesn't mean quality meal. Your food is bad for the price. If it was good I'll say that, I stand by my honest review and people reading this can make their own decisions. You are a tourist trap and many other reviewers say the same. Based on your response I'll be afraid to even sit at this restaurant. God forbid if one's complains in person might end up sleeping with the fishes. Arrivederci e buona fortuna!

Officina del Mare earned its spot on my list of must-visit places in Naples years ago, and it has never failed to impress. The quality and detail of the dishes are consistently magnificent, and the warm, engaging staff always make the experience memorable. Exquisite fish and seafood restaurant with extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. We had a delicious meal here today. We felt very comfortable. It was worth the visit and the price. Thank you!

We really enjoyed lunch here Good food, good spot. A little more expensive than elsewhere in Naples. Difficult online menu makes choosing time consuming.
Jeroen K — Google review
Wish we had read the reviews. The salmon and the octopus are tasteless. The dessert options are good. Not really with a view of the water. Service is shoddy at best. The cook really needs to learn how to cook fish. Fish is unforgiving and precise time is needed for best cooking and taste. Plus add some sauces and condiments to the fish - it was bland. So many better opportunities in Napoli.

Excellent and fresh seafood, we had raw starters and the fritto misto as main - the staff was attentive and very friendly to talk to. Have been here a few years already and that’s why we came back

Trattoria & Pizzeria Nardones in Napoli is a family-owned gem that offers an authentic and traditional dining experience. The simple and humble decor creates a cozy atmosphere, while the friendly staff ensures excellent service. The Neapolitan Tasting Menu is perfect for sharing with friends, offering a taste of local flavors. The dishes, including the pasta with potatoes and provolone cheese, are bursting with flavor and made with fresh ingredients.
It was a very nice dinner. It was important for us to have a good pizza on our day trip to Naples and this place met our expectations. Especially the wine recommendations were excellent. In addition to all these, we were very pleased in every sense that the prices were good for this flavor and that the place had air conditioning and the atmosphere was nice. I would definitely say you should go.

The food was exquisite and the Pasta mama mia delicious. I asked for the fish pasta it was about 14Euro and the Pizza 11 euro more than enough for 2 persons. Just consider that the coperto is 2.5 per person. Besides the coperto price, I think everything was delicious and a very good place to eat authentic Naples food!

This mom and pop restaurant was exactly what I was looking for on my last evening in southern Italy. My grandson and I were reading the menu outside, when the owner and his wife came out to warmly invite us in. We were seated and the menu presented to us, drinks arrived shortly after. My glass of white house wine was delicious. While we waited for our Eggplant Parmesan and Pizza Margarita we enjoyed the colorful cosy ambiance of the little restaurant and its lively music of traditional Italian songs. We did not have to wait too long for our food, it arrived piping hot and totally scrumptious. Best surprise - the bill was at least half of what we have paid so far on our travels through Italy. Stop by, you will not be disappointed!

Small but convenient traditional restaurant in a Nardones road in Napoli.. we suggest both seafood and Pizza options. Atmosphere reminds me Greek restaurant (full white and blue contrast) .. quality amazing but we didn’t like to see alive lobster in the tank waiting… someone to order…

The service was terrible! It was such an unpleasant experience. The staff treated us terribly and was not friendly at all. You could tell the staff treated our table differently than the rest. The only pleasant part of the experience was the server from El Salvador who was gracious and kind. Additionally, the food was mediocre. I don't recommend this place at all! You could do much better. This really ruined my time in Naples.

Only god (and my wife) knows how much i love thos family restaurants. From the first minut i saw it i liked it. Something in the simple and humble decor made happy that i chose this place. The workers were very kind from the start and they worked very hard to get everything done on time. My dish was the most surprising dish i ever expected. A local pasta dish with potatos and provolone cheese... god, it was tasty... we took the fresh salad (which was very fresh) and an excellent pizza to top it all. Very well done!!! If i could give more then 5 stars, i would. Also a great beer. Thanks guys for making me very happy...

Antica Pizza Fritta da Zia Esterina Sorbillo is a delightful homage to the age-old tradition of Neapolitan street food, particularly focusing on the beloved fried pizza. Founded by Gino Sorbillo, a master pizzaiolo with deep roots in his family's pizzeria, this establishment offers an array of deliciously crafted pizza fritta that showcases both classic and innovative variations.
Simple, nice eat it while walking and standing… its very hot… and delicious…. Take one full pizza and you might order another one 🥰❤️ i took one to go and still it tasted amazing when it was cold ❤️

This is antique fried pizza, much like, to me, a big fried empanada with lots of cheese and a little meat. It is made by hand and cooked as you order. It will be given to you fresh from the frying pan. The place is small and most of the time there is a line and you have to wait for a while for your order. For me, it is worth the wait. You have to taste a different way of “pizza” preparation and the end result is surprisingly delicious. The generous amount of cheese melts in your mouth and the dough, although fried, is very soft. When you are visiting Naples, Italy, I recommend trying this fried pizza.
Arlene88 A — Google review
If you want to eat the classical Napoletan pizza fritta, this is the place you must come to. We had the classic (just tomato and cheese) for 4.90 EUR. It didn't have much sauce though which was a bit disappointing. I'm not gonna lie: it's just a fried pizza, so it is nothing mind blowing. It's good of course (how can a fried pizza taste bad?), but it wasn't that special. It works as a snack to share in two since it's quite heavy for just one person in my opinion.
Martín S — Google review
I absolutely loved this place! I was really surprised by how light the pizza was — and the ricotta was incredibly delicious. It felt so light that I could’ve easily eaten fifteen more! This is a perfect stop while exploring Naples. The fried pizza here is unique and made in the traditional Neapolitan way, giving it a crispy outside and a soft, airy inside. Totally worth trying! 🍕🇮🇹
Gustavo I — Google review
A really great place — we tried fried pizza here for the first time, and it was an amazing discovery. €4.90 per pizza, and then you have to leave your ticket on the counter with a coin on top so the cook will prepare it — a hidden gem in the streets of Naples. There are three small tables outside where you eat standing up. We loved it. We tried the classic one and another that was recommended to us, which had meatballs inside. Both were excellent — a fantastic spot.

Super fast, super friendly and super tasty. Switched to English when our Italian failed, didnt make us feel out of place and took our time to order correctly. The food was super fast, the chef was very cheerful and the taste was delicious. If you want a high quality, fast taste of naples street food I would recommend.
Connor M — Google review
Not the best experience, the fried pizza tastes good but nothing special. Very busy place but the wait is not too long. Only a few standing tables. All fried pizzas are 4,90€ but there is only one vegetarian available.

The Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli is housed in a 17th-century palace and features prehistoric artifacts, coins, and ancient works of art. Conveniently located in the heart of the historic center, it offers a captivating journey through Italian art history with pieces from renowned international artists. The museum's vast collection includes Roman and Greek artifacts, many unearthed at Pompeii and Herculaneum.
This is an absolute “must-visit” if you are in Naples. The building is beautiful and you will be treated to a fine collection of sculptures, frescoes, paintings and everyday objects from Pompeii and Herculaneum. The highlight for me was the Farnese Collection on the first floor. Lines can be long so I recommend getting the Artecard to bypass this while saving money in the process.
JJ G — Google review
The museum is a beautiful building and worthy of a visit itself. A must visit if you have been to Pompeii and Herculaneum. We queued about 20 minutes so during peak times I would recommend buying tickets online beforehand. Entrance fee is 20€ and worth the money. There is so much to see so allow at least three hours for your visit. All statues and artefacts are beautifully displayed as you meander around the museum from hall to hall. The inner courtyards are also inviting for a little rest. There is a cafe and bookshop onsite as well.
Gillian M — Google review
Perhaps the best museum I've ever been to. Having visited Pompeii and Herculaneum a few days before, this place was a must after that experience. There are so many artefacts, in particular paintings, which come from these places, that really enriches your understanding and increases your sense of awe. As someone who loves ancient statues, this was like heaven. So many wonderful ones there is no point in picking any out, there are so many here it is bewildering. If you have any interest in antiquity then this should be on your bucket list. We went on a Friday in late October. There were plenty of people but it was quieter than I expected. We spent over 4 hours here and we were not bored for a second. Highly recommended.

So beautiful! a must-see in Naples! This museum was one of the highlights of our trip. It’s full of stunning life-sized statues with the most amazing details, plus incredible art and artifacts from Pompeii. You really get a feel for what ancient life was like. You could easily spend hours here just wandering around and taking it all in, there’s so much to see!
Caya W — Google review
This museum is big. So many artifacts in there. Tons of statues. We went to see the Pompeii ruins as it houses the largest collection of items unearthed. Even glass kitchen wares. Even to move quickly through it you'll need a few hours. Oh, and dont skip out on the Secret Cabinet section. I cant post pics as Google will shoot down this post. Google it, its pretty interesting.
Lee V — Google review
What an amazing place. You will need more than one day to see everything. Easy to fet to if you use the metro. Magnificent statues and sculptures. The mummy section is definitely a must. I can't recommend this place enough.
Ian B — Google review
If you’re visiting Pompeii or Herculaneum, this museum is an absolute must. It’s where all the best-preserved artifacts have been taken—statues, mosaics, frescoes, personal belongings, even entire floors and walls. You’ll see ancient Roman life brought vividly to life in a way the ruins alone just can’t match. The collection is massive and awe-inspiring. Every room feels like a discovery—one moment you’re staring at intricate jewelry, the next you’re face to face with a marble sculpture that looks like it was carved yesterday. The detail, the history, the scale—it’s almost overwhelming (in the best way). Plan way more time than you think you’ll need. Seriously—give yourself a full day if you’re even mildly into history, art, or archaeology. One of the most impressive museums I’ve ever visited.

Chiesa del Gesù Nuovo is a stunning Neapolitan Baroque church located in the center of Piazza del Gesu Nuovo. Its 1400s stone facade leads to lavish interiors adorned with religious art. The square itself, while not as grand as others in Naples, is a charming and important landmark. One of its distinctive features is the towering obelisk Immaculate made of white marble.
A Hidden Jewel of Naples — Awe-Inspiring Inside and Out Chiesa del Gesù Nuovo is absolutely breathtaking! ⛪ From the outside, the unique façade made of volcanic stone catches your eye — so different and mysterious 🖤. But it’s when you step inside that the real magic begins: an explosion of baroque beauty, golden details, stunning frescoes, and overwhelming grandeur ✨🎨. It’s not just a church — it’s a masterpiece that stirs your soul. Quiet, peaceful, and full of history, it’s one of those places that makes you stop, breathe, and just take it all in. Surprising hidden gem—plain on the outside, but absolutely stunning inside. The lavish Baroque décor, painted ceilings, and ornate chapels filled with marble and frescoes are breathtaking. It’s quiet and peaceful even in a busy area—perfect for soaking in history and artistry.

What a big surprise! There's a hidden gem behind that palace facade. You enter through the Baroque looking entryway at the Piazza of the same name. We were totally amazed at what we saw inside this church. I would have never known based on its exterior. It's immensely grand and ornate as you walk inside. The ceiling and chapels are covered in Italian Baroque art from famous artists such as Francesco Solimena and Luca Giordano. There are alters made of precious stones and marble statues. All of which are saintly and historical. I didn't realize it at the time, but people do go there to be healed. There is a chapel dedicated to a Naples doctor & saint named Giuseppe Moscati. His tomb lies under the chapel altar. He is known for taking care of the sick and the poor. There was a line of people waiting to enter a part of the church that houses his personal quarters and belongings. We didn't get to see it, so I can't comment on it. It's just something to consider seeing while you're there. This whole area is full of historical churches. I mean, you could visit churches all day long if that's your thing. This is a great option if you only have time to visit one, and it's free to the public. They accept donations as most churches do.
Karen V — Google review
After visiting several cathedrals and basilicas around the world, this one felt special and particularly holy. It doesn't look very exciting from outside. Tremendous inside, beautiful colours, construction and art. There is a big section dedicated to the Saint Giuseppe Moscati and a room with much information about his life. There is also a reconstruction of his office and bedroom, with what appeared to be original items, and his tomb. Highly recommended stop for quiet reflection if you're in Napoli.

Historic Sites
The Catacombe di San Gaudioso is a 3rd-century underground burial site in Naples, Italy. It features early Christian wall paintings and mosaics, some of which depict symbols from that era. The catacombs are located beneath the Basilica of Santa Maria della Sanita and were used as a burial site for St. Gaudioso, a bishop who lived in Naples until his death in 453 AD. Guided tours are available to explore this historical and religious site.
Excellent place to learn about some history of Naples. The English tour guide was a very nice gal who we could understand clearly. She guided us through the tunnels and answered all our questions. Some very old frescos are still intact and wonderful to view and contemplate the people that lived back then. Also you get to see the chambers where they drain the blood of the recently deceased to prepare them for long term storage (…and you thought you had a bad job). Overall this was a great visit and I would highly recommend it. Take the elevator down to the entrance from the high street above.
Jason B — Google review
Fantastic tour our guide was brilliant had great sense of humour and was expecting the tour to be similar to other catacomb tours but totally different, was great to hear about some of the practices around treatment of the dead with a confident and great story teller. Would highly recommend.

Tours take place hourly, with options for French and Italian. Booking in advance recommended. Unfortunately photos of actual catacombs not allowed as part of the Vatican. A very interesting tour with our knowledgeable guide- Valentina- thank you! The catacombs tours (also of San Gennaro) are part of a project to revive this area of Naples “Sanita”- a worthy cause!

Ticket entrance 15€. With the ticket you have free entrance to visit the other catacombs. The tour explains you vert well both history and traditions. You cannot take photos but you will see tunnels, skulls and graves. I thought the tour would be longer (you only walk like 50m)

Very interesting tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke great English. It was so interesting to hear the stories about the catacombs and experience bring there in the flesh! The only thing I'd say to improve this experience/tour would be to allow us to go back into the church we walked through to allow more photo opportunities of the stunning architecture.

Certosa e Museo di San Martino is a historic monastery in Naples that houses a baroque church adorned with stunning ceiling frescoes and a marble altar. The Museo Nazionale di San Martino is a true gem in Naples. The moment you step inside, you are welcomed by a beautiful courtyard that immediately sets a calm and peaceful atmosphere. From the terraces, the views over the city and the bay are absolutely breathtaking – one of the best panoramas you can find in Naples. What makes this place so special is the tranquility. Unlike many of the busier attractions in the city, you can really take your time to explore, reflect, and enjoy the surroundings here. If you are visiting Naples, I highly recommend taking the time to come up here. Not only for the history, but also for the views and the peaceful atmosphere. Truly a wonderful experience!

The Certosa di San Martino was a chapterhouse of the Carthusian order built just below Castel Sant'Elmo for protection. Due to this location, it shares the same beautiful views of the city as the fortress above. If you don’t feel like going up, the selfie opportunities here almost as good. 😊 The order was suppressed in the 18th century and the monastery and its gardens now serve as a museum. The most unusual items here are a collection of papier-mache nativity scenes. The largest of them filled a room! The single most beautiful place in the monastery is the church. Simply breathtaking.
JJ G — Google review
One of the best Museum in the city of Naples. For the quality and the quantity of the pieces of art this museum contains should be already being in the top list of every trip in Naples. In addition you get also an amazing view of the city and an outside area in the back really nice and peaceful. It’s a pity there is no a cafe there! The church and its surrounding chambers is simply astonishing, with no single spot left for an additional decoration. The collection is impressive i think they should better present them with few but key notes (at least the most important piece of art). In addiction all of this the ticket is really cheap! 6€ for a full one and 2€ with under 25. Fortunately (or unfortunately) the place is not busy at all so you can really enjoy it!

I came across this in a special guidebook about Naples, and on our last day, we went for a little pastry, and I'm glad we did. Tiny little place, the guy sat behind the counter, smoking, asked us if we wanted to try something delicious, and then he just handed us a fresh little bun filled with pork and egg. It was piping hot and so delicious. We had two little pastries as well. We sat in this very simple family run place and had a little piece feel of what naples is about. Wouldn't travel across town, but it was an 800m walk from our place and well worth it.

Nestled in the heart of Naples, "Poppella Pasticceria" stands as a timeless testament to the art of sweet confections. With roots tracing back to the year 1920, this quaint and storied shop has been enchanting locals and visitors alike for generations. During our unforgettable holiday in Naples, we were fortunate enough to have stumbled upon this hidden gem, thanks to a recommendation from a friendly local. The selection of treats was impressive, offering a mix of traditional and contemporary delights that catered to various tastes. The air was filled with the heavenly aroma of freshly baked sweets, an olfactory symphony that beckoned us further into this confectionery wonderland. The sweets were undeniably fresh and scrumptious, leaving us with a delightful burst of Italian flavors in every bite. The pastries were tender, the cakes moist, and the chocolates velvety smooth. Each treat offered a delightful dance of textures and flavors, leaving us in awe of the craftsmanship behind these delectable creations. However, amidst the enchanting sweetness, we encountered a few hiccups that dampened the experience. The shop, understandably popular, was bustling with eager customers, resulting in an overcrowded atmosphere that made maneuvering a bit challenging. The ordering process proved to be somewhat chaotic, with the enthusiastic crowd adding to the confusion. Moreover, the staff appeared to be overwhelmed by the constant rush, leading to a less than friendly service. Although we understood the demands of running such a popular establishment, the lack of warmth in the interactions was a minor disappointment amidst the sweetness that enveloped us. Nonetheless, any bitterness we may have felt from the service was quickly forgotten with each subsequent bite of the divine treats. The allure of "Poppella Pasticceria" was undeniable, and the unforgettable flavors lingered on our palates, leaving us with cherished memories of this sweet haven in Naples. In conclusion, "Poppella Pasticceria" is an experience that transcends time, offering a glimpse into the rich culinary heritage of Italy. Despite the minor service shortcomings, the delectable treats served at this charming shop are an absolute delight for any food lover, especially those with an insatiable sweet tooth.

Strange place.. as soon as we entered - very old guy just put some bread in our hands, then we tried to ask for some pastry and instead of 2 pieces - he put double-triple amount of everything. In the end he charged us with 10 euros. We threw all this bakery in the bin, because it was not good and some of it were not fresh(

Pizza restaurant
Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba is an informal venue that has been serving Neapolitan pizza, pasta, and seafood dishes since the 18th century. Naples is renowned as the birthplace of pizza and home to some of the finest pizzerias globally. The pizzeria is located across from Piazza Bellini and claims to be the oldest or even the first pizzeria in Naples, possibly making it the first in the world.
Food - Neapolitan style pizza done right. Pizza was fantastic and I enjoyed every single bite. The crust was super thin but not as fluffy as I expected it to be but it was still lovely. The toppings were all super fresh and the sauce was exactly how it should be just tomato. We did have one pizza that we did not like but that was something we ordered outside of our comfort zone so it is what it is. Service - Fast friendly service that was welcoming with a great sense of humor. Atmosphere - Great quiet atmosphere to enjoy some amazing pizza with my family. Overall I felt this was a great experience with amazing food at the place that started it all. Make sure you try the arranchini while you're there it's fantastic.

Delicious pizzas! Both my partner and myself were very happy with our order. It is quite large for an individual pizza so watch out for the portion size if your appetite is not known to be huge.

Oops…Not the Best Pizza I’ve Ever Had We visited the place without a reservation around 6 in the evening. We tried to request a table for two inside, but only outdoor seating was available. We ordered two pizzas and a side; the portion sizes were generous. However, there was too much moisture in my pizza, and the bottom was burnt, which created a bitter taste. While the outdoor seating allowed us to experience the authentic Neapolitan vibe, the environment wasn't very pleasant due to the smells and flies from the street. I had high expectations for this place, but it turned out to be a pass for me. I do not recommend it, and I will not revisit this restaurant again.

Lovely experience. I didn’t go in the restaurant but got pizza from the outside sales spot. Employee was great, we picks pizza and they took it inside to cook. I got five pizzas and it cost something like 10 euro total Pizza was great and the value made me consider immediate retirement. I would absolutely recommend stopping. I love pizza and this was an absolute must experience.

Honestly, considering this has received so many good reviews and has been here for so long, it was a little disappointing. Yes, it has tradition and the waiters working there were really polite with us. But the pizza just was not good enough and not worth it. There are better places to eat and more affordable.

Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba is a must-visit in Naples it’s considered the **oldest pizzeria in the world**, dating back to **1738** when it started as a simple street stand and officially opened as a pizzeria in **1830**. Stepping inside feels like going back in time, with its traditional stone ovens and authentic Neapolitan atmosphere. The pizza is simple, delicious, and full of history, you can truly taste the roots of Naples’ pizza culture here. It can get busy, but that’s part of the charm. A real piece of pizza history! 🍕🇮🇹

While in Naples, we tried pizza in different restaurants, and in our opinion, the pizza at Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba is the best in all of Naples. The dough is perfect, the tomatoes have a great slightly sweet flavor, and the toppings are high quality. Everything comes together in a truly perfect taste! We also tried the seafood pasta — it was absolutely delicious. We came back for the pizza three times! The place itself is also great, and both the staff and the owner are super friendly. A must-visit spot on the map of Naples!

Phenomenal!! One of the best eats we had while in Italy!! 😋❤️🇮🇹 Get the stuffed zucchini flowers & their original pizza [I forget the name but it is the one without tomato sauce!] If we were in Napoli longer I would've gone back & tried more on the menu! 💃

La Cantina di via Sapienza is a charming family-run restaurant that has been serving delicious, homestyle meals since 1900. Located between the centro storico and the Museo Archeologico, this rustic venue offers a convivial Neapolitan atmosphere and excellent home cooking using locally sourced ingredients. The menu features hearty dishes like pasta con patate, parmigiana di melanzane, and spezzatino with peas, all at very reasonable prices.
We saw the place wheb going through a Naples food guide in another restaurant, and it turned out to be my favorite restaurant during the trip. Very cosy atmosphere, the staff was friendly and the food was amazing.

If you're looking for a traditional restaurant, this is the one in Naples. I found it on a Reddit post, and it was delicious! The meatballs and eggplant lasagna was amazing! (A little too much oil but it's Italy) This is a hidden gem!

Loved the old school authentic atmosphere. Very welcoming service. Excellent food. We had the eggplant parmigian and sausage with escarole. It was hard to decide among the offerings as so many sounded good. You absolutely have to order the Babá (Neapolitan rum cake) for dessert.

Definitely worth taking a walk out of the main tourist drag to visit this great little authentic cantina. There was fast service and genuine fresh food. Wife had the tripe which she loved and the little one had meatballs. The set menu of the day was a good deal and the cheap carafe of wine helped us have a great start to the day! Worth the visit to not pay tourist prices but we felt the portions were a little small and service a little amateur.

Il Comandante ristorante, nestled on the upper floors of the elegant Romeo Hotel, has made a vibrant comeback under the creative guidance of chef Salvatore Bianco. The recent renovations have transformed both its aesthetic and culinary offerings, creating an inviting atmosphere adorned with sleek black tables accented by metallic details. Guests are greeted with refreshing citrus-infused water that evokes coastal breezes, setting the tone for a delightful dining experience.
Wow, simply wow! The staff was amazingly nice and helpful. The food was really tasty, very creative and also pleasing to the eye. (Plus, they give out quite a lot of free snacks). The view was stunning. Everything was just so unbelievably wonderful! Our whole experience at this restaurant was memorable and I can only recommend anyone who visits Naples to eat here. By the way we couldn’t make it to the reservation date and the nice staff simply rescheduled to another date for us. We were really happy with how understanding she responded.

A 5 star review to a restaurant that was reviewed by the top reviewers. Great experience transcending the food and providing a harmony and integrity of the Napolitano experience. Great dishes made to perfection and with flair and individual point of view. Service is impeccable and while very traditional its also friendly and attentive. Great views of the port and the bay of Napoli add to a one unforgettable experience.

I was in a one-star mood and the restaurant was close to my hotel, so I decided to test it out. Making reservations required guaranteeing with a credit card so instead I emailed them and they accepted my reservation. It is a great view of the bay of Naples for sure. My table was on the outdoor terrace and it was too windy so I asked to move inside. It looks like you have to walk thru the restaurant to get to the small rooftop pool but I could be mistaken. Everyone has been very friendly and professional befitting a high-end restaurant. They offered Champagne as an aperitif but I asked for an Americano. Not because I’m American :) but because I like Negronis very much and I didn’t want to jump straight to that strong of a cocktail. It wasn’t the best one I’ve had - too watery and too much ice. I like the background music. The Amuse Bouche was very well presented but not that tasty. Since I ate one Amuse Bouche out of the suggested order (my bad), they tried to clear them before I was done. They offered 3, 6, or 8 courses. Based on my experience so far, I decided to cut my losses and go for 3. I asked for wine pairings and they gladly supported. They were very accommodating with one food allergy I have. The fresh/warm bread with local butter & olive oil was well presented and delicious. The Americano got better towards the end :) The 5-Spice 65-degree egg with mozzarella first course wasn’t bad. The sommelier described and poured a local white to go with the egg course. Everyone spoke perfect English. The white wine was ok but not worth writing about. The waiter very professionally cleared the the crumbs after the first course. I unfortunately have a shellfish allergy. The second course was a rock fish and cuttlefish pasta. They assured me no shellfish was in it but as I started to eat it, my throat started to tingle and itch and I was clearly starting to have a reaction. I stopped, they apologized and went to prepare something else. Very gratuitous about it. I would recommend ordering a table at the window overlooking the bay! The replacement second course was delicious. It was a Ragu without meat but replicating the flavor with Japanese ingredients like miso, etc. The paired red wine was also excellent. I’m not a vegetarian but the second course also came with a meatless meatball. It was good but no one would mistake it for a meatball. This might be a good place for a business dinner (with a table at the window overlooking the bay). The WiFi appears to be only for hotel guests. But my 5G was wicked fast. The dessert which had kefir in it, which I like, was tasty but not super special. The dessert wine was hyper-sweet but I would try again with a dessert course. Thinking back, they were (probably unintentionally) stingy with the water. The surprise dessert was again beautifully presented but 2 of the 4 marinated fruit tasted off. I hope I’m ok tomorrow. :) The watermelon juice was very good. I am certainly stuffed. The restroom is on the first floor of the hotel, BTW. El Comandante, please don’t respond that you are displeased that I was displeased and that I should come back again. Your negatives detract from your positives. Not that you asked my opinion but I would keep most things the same and work on your less tasty dishes.

Pros: Wonderful staff. Very attentive. The focaccia was really really good. We were impressed by the spread they laid out for appetizer and dessert. Cons: I’m sure this place is someone’s cup of tea (I’ve seen the glowing reviews), but we are not those people. The food seemed inventive and honestly, a bit strange, just for the sake of it, or to see how “out of the box” they could go. We’ve had Michelin-starred food for much less $ and much better taste. My husband and I were given 2 different menus - while mine was personalized to remove my allergies (thoughtful touch!), mine also did not have prices included, only his did, which we didn’t appreciate. Perhaps this isn’t rare, but we’ve never seen it done, even at high-end restaurants. I also must mention - this place was truly ridiculously expensive. The wine was in the ballpark of 40 euros per glass at minimum. All in all, we would not return even for a free meal. Maybe we just have some simple tastes, but if you’re like us, you’ve been warned.

Most Memorable Dining Experience in Naples. Finest and creative Italian haute cuisine. Chef Salvatore Bianco has managed to perfectly combine the most surprising innovations with skills rooted in the Mediterranean tradition. The creativity, presentation and intense flavors of the dishes are the result of a deep knowledge of the region, long experience, research and creativity. From the open kitchen you can feel an excellent teamwork. Even in its elegant sophistication, the innovative Evoluzioni tasting menu inviting you to explore and accept the experience and feel the excellent ingredients. You go from dishes that spread new unknown flavours, to others who, soft and gentle, amaze and caress all the senses. It means that you are faced with something really deserving and intimate. The rabbit was amazing and we discovered a new way to enjoy the spaghetti and shellfish, the Green Zone were close to perfection. The only flaw, on the service, you must have the best and unfortunately we did not receive it. I’d suggest the women at the entrance to improve a more warm welcoming and not talk to each other so loud. Precious and valuable wine list.

Overall it was quite disappointing experience, medium value at very very high cost. We enjoyed the fanciness and the beautifully served dishes, but to be honest many of the dishes just weren't tasty. We even returned one dish (both of us) because we found it to be super salty. We ate in many restaurants far more tasty at fifth of the cost. We took the 6 course menu. Don't get mistaken the dishes are maybe not that big but you end up with a very full stomach. The starters were amazing, alas the really good things are always too small. The deserts were also very good. The other dishes were mediocre. The wine selection is interesting and exotic and the sommelier picked amazing wines for us. Bottom line not worth the price.

1 Michelin Star really deserved. Location unforgettable, amazing menu with local products and attentive and refined service. I loved the mise en place!
Silvia G — Google review
Quite uninspired cuisine, not deserving of their Michelin star. Off flavors abounded, from the not-quite-anything taste of the amuse-bouche to the school luncheon taste of the marinated fruits. The egg was good of course, but not memorable. No standard wine pairing was made available, so I asked for a recommendation. My mistake; the bottle they supplied was thoughtlessly chosen. I only had the three course menu, but I doubt more of their food would have helped their batting average. Good visuals though, a nice view of the sea and the food probably photographs well. Something for the Instagrammers maybe, but not for anyone who bothers to taste what they eat.

Castel Nuovo, also known as Maschio Angioino, is a medieval fortress in Naples commissioned in 1279. It features five towers and a Renaissance triumphal arch built by King Alfonso. Over the years, it has served as a royal residence and a strategic fortress. Today, it houses a civic art museum and chapel and hosts cultural events. Visitors can explore sumptuous halls on guided tours, including the Armoury Hall and the Palatine.
Massive old fortress next to the ferry port. There is a museum inside, which I didn't visit but the building itself is something worth seeing. One of the three that we saw in Naples, each more amazing on it's own. It's also well lit in the night.
Maciej P — Google review
It's really good. It cost €6 to get in. Once in they ask you if you want a guided tour. Another €10 each but you get to see more of the castle and a better understanding of the history of the place. For €16 each, it's one of the cheapest tours I have found in Italy! We loved the castle and the tour.
Stephen P — Google review
The castle looks great from outside and I advise that you take your selfies outside and then proceed to the other nearby sites in Naples. I had entered using my Artecard and was not offered any tours (for an additional charge) that other reviewers had mentioned. Without this, you only enjoy the courtyard, the Sala of the Barons, the terrace at the back (with a good view, admittedly) and the so-so collection of art. All these wouldn’t take an hour.
JJ G — Google review
Iconic medieval fortress you see by the sea in central Naples, with its mighty round towers and triumphal arch between them. This castle isn’t just stone and battlements — it’s the stage for 700 years of Neapolitan history. Now it is a living museum, where art, politics, religion, and legend all share the same stone heart.
Kasemsan P — Google review
As many have said, structurally this is quite an impressive castle overlooking the port. The entrance fee had doubled to €10, with an extra €10 for the guided tour around the dungeon. There was some interesting art (some to my taste, but some not), and unfortunately, the top stairwell was closed off. It kept us entertained for an hour or two while it rained, anyway.
Penny L — Google review
Honestly the most disappointing castle I’ve seen yet. The outside is amazing! That’s where the good part ends really. Inside is all modern and boring with little to see at all. The art at first is crap, parrots with tools? A tower of random tools? What is this nonsense and where is the art? Then you see the religious art which isn’t bad but nothing you’ve not seen before. You see a few ruins of the castle underneath your feet in parts but otherwise you wouldn’t have an idea this was a castle and it offers very little to actually see to justify a price of any kind. Thankfully today was free as this definitely isn’t worth paying for.
Rob — Google review
If you’re into massive medieval castles that look like they were designed by someone who said, “Let’s build something so cool it’ll make future tourists question their entire life choices,” then Castel Nuovo is your place. The tour? Amazing. Our guide knew everything — from royal gossip to how many times this place was rebuilt because apparently kings back then had zero chill and infinite budgets. The history was fascinating, the views were gorgeous, and the stone walls probably have more stories than my last ten relationships combined. Pro tip: don’t skip the guided tour — wandering around solo just makes you feel like an uninvited extra in Game of Thrones. Also, bring good shoes unless you enjoy pretending to be an out-of-shape knight storming a fortress. All in all, 10/10 would get lost in a 13th-century castle again.

Beautiful castle and museum with a lot to see and learn. There’s a section with a glass floor, beneath which are ruins and skeletons. I especially liked the part with paintings and art. My husband enjoys the gastronomic side of traveling, so he sipped some wine while following me around 😂

Explore the ancient underground world of Naples with the Napoli Sotterranea Guided Authorized Tour. Delve 40 meters below the city's bustling streets to discover a hidden labyrinth of catacombs, tunnels, and caverns dating back over 2,400 years. This subterranean journey unveils layers of Greek and Roman structures, early Christian burial sites, and World War II air raid shelters.
Very interesting tour, worth the price. Very good guide, was telling a lot of interesting facts about the place and history of Naples in general. There were quite some people, a lot of separate groups with different languages, so when visitors were entering it was a bit stressful. But once inside - all great 👍🏼 We’d recommend booking it in advance online. Our guide Alex was great!!

I really enjoyed this place! It really helps to understand the the Napoli as the guide provides lots of historical facts but in a very interesting way. Alex was a great guide! The temperature is around 18 C so I good to take some proper clothes. Very characteristic to this underground journey are veeeery narrow paths that used to be a aqueduct. Recommend to everybody who are visiting Napoli. In case of the tickets, easy to book online and pay before the entrance. Easy to find the place.

The tour was awesome. Takes about an hour. The guide was super knowledgeable and also funny as well. The story the guide told was very captivating and left you looking forward to hearing more as the tour progressed. I would 100% attend this tour again. Mainly to help support the work they do of cleaning out Naples underground, and partly to hear about new discoveries made by the volunteers who explain the rich history of the Underground and help clean it up.

A nice experience i must admit. Our tour guide Ivan was amazing, had great English with great accent which i highly appreciate! Super important notes to add... Claustrophobic people should be warned prior to purchasing the ticket.... Also people with extra weight as there are extremely narrow passages. I find it really bad there might be people paying 15€ for the tour and being unable to go for it and finding out that they have to sit and wait for the rest of the group till they finish... Added a short video for reference showing how narrow and tight the passages are... Loved the extra bonus mini tour to the old theatre. Total of 1 hour.

More we were advancing, more it was exiting! The guide Edouardo brought us through the history of Naples and its underground with a lot of humour and fun! This young guy was absolutely brilliant! I think, I've never laught so much during a guided tour! And at the same time I learnt so many interesting facts... Almost 1 and a half hour passed like 5 minutes - I really loved it! The place is a bit scary, mysterious and an absolut must-see if you visit Naples!

Murale Diego Armando Maradona - Quartieri Spagnoli

4.6

Exhibit
The Murale Diego Armando Maradona in the Quartieri Spagnoli district of Naples is a legendary tribute to the iconic footballer. This mural, considered the most famous of all, serves as an altar for Neapolitans' adoration of Maradona. The square in front of the mural has been transformed into an open-air museum celebrating his legacy, with outdoor shops offering souvenirs and jerseys.
One of Napoli's city center highlights. It's totally worth the visit. Maradona' pictures and wall paintings everywhere. Very colorful neiborhood and full of life. We had a great time there. You should try the fried seafood in a paper cone.

A must-see in Naples. We almost missed it by taking another street, but luckily spotted the crowd from afar—which led us there. I would’ve been devastated to skip this spot, but honestly, with such a big crowd, it's hard to miss. Just a heads-up: it's best to keep an eye on your belongings, as the area is packed and could attract pickpockets.

This was a spiritual experience and the Spanish Quarter is a very special place to visit. Then, if you even have a semblance or shred of passion for football, no matter who you support, this is one of the most incredible things you will ever experience. I was overcome with emotion and understood very clearly just how much Diego Maradona meant to this city and its people.

A beautiful experience. Seeing the Maradona mural in Naples is feeling the love and passion Neapolitans have for him. You can truly feel the devotion. If you’re into football (or Argentine), it’s a moving place to visit.
Nicolas G — Google review
Although you will see Maradona’s image all over Naples, if you truly want to feel how much he meant and still means to the people of the city, you should definitely visit Maradona Square in the Spanish Quarter of Naples. This area has been transformed into a shrine dedicated to him. The mural itself is more than just street art, it’s a revered landmark where locals and visitors leave flowers, scarves, and memorabilia as tokens of respect. The vibrant Spanish Quarter only adds to the rich cultural atmosphere of this special place, making a visit here feel like a pilgrimage for fans from all around the world.

The famous Maradona mural – a sight you have to see to believe. What makes this place truly special is its spontaneity and the passion of the people who created it. For 30 years, the mural was a hidden gem known mostly to devoted football fans. But since Maradona’s passing, it has transformed into a living shrine, embodying everything he meant to the city and its people. Perched atop Vomero Hill in Naples, Castel Sant'Elmo is a 14th-century fortress offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city. From the Piazzale di San Martino, visitors can take in sweeping vistas that encompass the old town, Santa Chiara's bell tower, Spaccanapoli, Centro Direzionale, and beyond.
Lovely walk around this castle. Amazing views from the top. Took the funicular up and walked down. The castle cost €5 to enter. Very reasonable. Views of the city were amazing. Walking the castle walls was a great experience. Not too many people around so easy to take your time and take some photos. Would definitely recommend.

Castel Sant'Elmo is a medieval fortress built on top of Vomero Hill overlooking Naples. The site has been continuously occupied from the 13th century and the structure has served as a garrison, fortress and prison. In fact, it was still in use as a prison until 1952. The views from the ramparts of the city, the bay and of Mt. Vesuvius are to die for. I advise wearing a jacket during your visit. It’s very windy and feels cold even with the sun out. To get there, you can take funicular up or ride the subway to the Vanvitelli station and then walk. For admission, I got the Artecard Lite which allows one visit within a year to a list of Neapolitan cultural attractions. Look it up and save.

Castel Sant’Elmo is a must-visit for anyone seeking panoramic views and a touch of history. Perched high above the city, this 14th-century fortress offers great views over the Bay of Naples, Mount Vesuvius, and the city below. The view alone is worth the 2.5€ entrance fee—it’s one of the best spots to take in the Neapolitan skyline, especially at sunset when the light casts golden hues over the bay. The castle itself is a fascinating structure, with its star-shaped design and thick stone walls. While the interior is relatively sparse, the open-air walkways and ramparts make it a perfect place for a scenic stroll. It also hosts occasional art exhibitions and cultural events.
Marian G — Google review
The best spot for the panoramic view of Naples city and the harbour area, it's a long climb and there is no shade at the top so it might be hard on the sun day. There is a museum on top, but it's a modern art one and wasn't really interesting for us. Apart from that, there is not much to see when it comes to the history of the fort apart from 2 cannons at the bottom.
Maciej P — Google review
This place is worth the hike from the cruise port. An amazing castle which is almost 700 years old. Must see if you’re into historical places. It also offers breathtaking views of Naples.
Ned — Google review
What a stunning view of Naples! The Castel Sant’Elmo must be on your list to visit! Entrance is free and at the top there is a café with a fantastic view of the volcano!
Gio — Google review
Beautiful place to get panoramic views of the city of Naples. I highly recommend coming at sunset. The Castel itself isn’t much to see inside. The admission ticket is pretty cheap, and there are bathrooms at the top. Be ready to climb some steep hills and stairs.
Tony S — Google review
Well maintained, pretty views. It was a nice walk up a slight incline to the main drawbridge entry door. Once inside, you can walk around the main floor where the museum & chapel entrances are, or go up to the higher level which goes completely around. The views are beautiful & far. Entrance fee is very reasonable.

Pizzeria Brandi

Pizza restaurant
Italian restaurant
Nestled near the elegant Chiaia neighborhood and the iconic Piazza Plebiscito, Pizzeria Brandi is a historic gem that has been delighting patrons since its establishment in 1780. This charming venue offers a cozy atmosphere with outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying their renowned wood-fired pizzas and delectable seafood pasta paired with fine wine.
This highly rated restaurant does not disappoint. The portions were huge, but somehow we were not stuffed. My wife ate her entire pizza, and I finished my fried Calzone (highly recommend both.) Service was impeccable. Reasonably priced. Great atmosphere. We sat outside and enjoyed people watching.
J. F — Google review
Incredible history… the pizza is right up there, but a standout is the service and atmosphere. Some other highly rated pizza restaurants in Napoli have slightly better pizza, but can’t beat the atmosphere at Brandi… deserves a visit for all pizza pilgrims… and the best thing is its very reasonably priced .
David D — Google review
The oldest pizzeria in Naples, but there is no corresponding refinement - character - decoration, characteristic of Italian culture... very average. Nice food, plenty of choices, pure Italian flavors, fresh ingredients. The staff is polite, smiling but slow in service (maybe it's because of the high traffic. I think it matters where you sit, for example, not in the basement, not on the first floor...I suggest the ground floor). You will find many local patrons as well as tourists. I highly recommend it for food... you just need a little patience for the service and everything is fine.
P P — Google review
My partner told me this place was the origin of margherita pizza so we had to try it. Despite of arriving Naples at 6pm the same day we made an effort to head to Brandi which was a 18 min subway ride from Naples terminal and our hotel. The atmosphere was lovely with music playing, outdoor seating and people passing by. When we asked for the table the old server was quite rude. He told us to wait in the corner and was looking annoyed. I don't know... He might be racist. Not much asian around. He was nice to other tables 🙄 anyways, the food was amazing. Fresh, light, flavorful. The octopus salad was lacking taste a little bit but I like the sauce. The table was very slanted which was kind of awkward. The younger server was nicer and explained the food and drinks. It was still a good experience trying the origin of pizza. I'd recommend this place but service needs to improve. Pizza was definitely better than Rome. It's Naples after all 😄

Busy place - in the middle of a popular tourist stops, the history of a place responsible for creating Margherita pizza also brings in some people (🙋‍♀️) Possibility to sit in or under a parasol outside. The pizza menu is not big but you don't mess with the perfection (Margherita) We ordered plain Margherita and mushroom Margherita - both smelled amazing, like a fireplace in the middle of the forest. I would not call it the best pizza in the Napoli, but definitely still delicious and worth trying.
Kinga M — Google review
We nearly missed our train because of this pizza, and it was absolutely worth it. We arrived before opening, so there was no wait for a table, and the food came out quickly. The pizza was unforgettable — I still dream about it!
Keti M — Google review
I highly recommend this place, the Margherita pizza is the best we ever had, the seafood pasta is not to be missed. The live music made it an unforgettable time. The best dinner experience we had in Napoli. The service was on point and the prices so cheap for the quality that makes you want to order the whole menu. Try to make a reservation if you want to sit outside.

Pizzeria 400 Gradi, located in Naples, Italy, offers a variety of Italian and Neapolitan dishes. With its bubbly pizza dough and fresh toppings, this restaurant is sure to capture your heart. Whether you're in the mood for an antipasto or a traditional pizza, you'll be treated to light and delicate flavors. Additionally, there are vegan and vegetarian options available upon request.
Absolutely great Neapolitan pizzeria. Chef is super friendly and you know that this place is his passion. Through days I have tried 8 pizzas here. Top choice is pizza fritta sized of around half a meter, dought is crispy on the outside and soft inside, not too fatty and pairs great with tomato sauce and mozzarella. Another must try is pizza with riccota stuffed crust, and pizza genovese with fresh basil pesto and mushrooms. Bottle of wine is cheap and additionally nearby crossroad is very entertaining to watch. Truly spectacular experience.

really not sure how this has such high ratings.. workers were nice but man was the pizza abysmally disappointing and downright disgusting. we ordered a mariolino pizza and frittata completa (tomato, basil, and cheese) fried pizza to go, and instead we received a burnt to hell pizza and a sausage, french fry fried pizza?? we didn’t realize we got the wrong fried pizza until we got back, so i guess that’s on us. like other reviewers say, ingredients are very cheap - fries were bad, cheese was so squeaky and seemed to be 2% or something, dough was mediocre (not sure why people are saying the dough was good). the fried pizza was an abomination of ingredients: what do you mean there’s fried dough, cheese, slices of hot dogs, and french fries all in tucked into one ball of dough?? so disappointed and what a waste of money.

This was the best pizza I had in Naples! The dough was perfectly fermented — light, airy, and full of flavor. And the prices were very reasonable too!

Best pizza in Napoli! If you want a real pizza, with fresh ingredients where the locals eat, this is the place! Genuine atmosphere, great service. I can’t believe it was only 7-9€ for a pizza. Great price with even better pizza. 10/10 will be back!

Pasticceria Poppella

Pastry shop
Confectionery store
Pasticceria Poppella, a historical brand in Naples since 1920, was founded by Raffaele Scognamillo and his wife Giuseppina Evangelista. Known for its unique Neapolitan snowflakes that melt in your mouth, this pastry shop is a must-visit when in Naples. The delicate snowflakes can be enjoyed with cream or chocolate and pistachio. The takeaway boxes are also popular souvenirs.
A famous patisserie, which opens at 8:30, that has all kinds of cakes, and pastries, out of this world. Everything is so beautiful, and more importantly - really delicious. We will come back again, also tomorrow, and we will certainly recommend the place, to others.
Dov G — Google review
I decided to try all of them after seeing the crazy line to try these, but the staff is really really fast. and I ate the deserts in the plate and I felt great 😂 i even had two more before my flight . I got 10 fiocchi di neve with me, for my friends to try and I brought 5 of them home. I got them at 14:00 and I was home after my flight to Albania at 22:00. They can last for 10 hours without being refrigerated and three days refrigerated. I should have gotten more. After being refrigerated they tasted even better. I got just one with pistacchio but it was so good. It is worth the wait. They should have added one charging place cause with that line I lost my battery and I got what I wanted instead of communicating with my cousins to ask them what would they prefer.
LEDJA B — Google review
as what others said, the snowflake pastry is really good! it's soft and sweet but it's light. we really enjoyed it. the baba is not bad too, can taste the rum and good that they sell the small size because we're quite full. we went quite early in the morning and there was no queue surprisingly. no seating inside so we had to takeaway and eat outside
Hans S — Google review
A good place with normal service. The specialty, the 'fiocco di neve' (snowflake), is very good. However, it's not a café, so there are no drinks, and maybe some pastries are missing, but it's fine.
Astroblock — Google review
So sad about this dessert shop with super long queue The ingredients are super bad and pistachio cake doesn’t even have pistachio flavor but just sugar sugar and sugar The cookie tastes like it has been out there for more than one month Super stale No reason for wasting so much time and money here So disappointed Very overpriced and fancy shop

€2 for one very reasonable price The pastry is like a donut like filled with this white cream it was delicious

queued a little over an hour for their specialty fresh cream pastry. not worth the wait. the pastry was dry and doughy. there’s other offerings nearby that may be just as good or even better.

Zi Teresa

Italian restaurant
Zi Teresa is a renowned historic restaurant in Naples, popular among celebrities and known for its local Neapolitan cuisine. The restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere with a terrace that provides stunning views of the Castel dell'Ovo in the ancient Borgo Marinari. Specializing in simple yet expertly combined ingredients, Zi Teresa's menu features exquisite dishes such as Neapolitan fresella, seafood scialatielli, fritto di paranza, and mozzarella di bufala.
Food: Hands down the best pizza we had during our Italy trip—topped with a pesto base and delicate pumpkin flowers. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and memorable. Service: The service was friendly and efficient. While we weren’t able to sit at one of the view tables due to a reservation, the overall experience was still very pleasant. Atmosphere: A beautiful setting overlooking the boats at the pier—such a relaxing and scenic place to enjoy a meal.
Monica’s T — Google review
One of the waitresses had zero patience and understanding of what friendly means. First we asked for an English menu and she pointed at a scannable qr code to view online. Later on, another waiter just gave us an English paper version. When we were about done, she asked if we were finished, and even with a no as answer, she began to take away our plates. I interrupted her and told we weren't yet. Not even 2 minutes later she asked again while we were still eating the bread. I reacted a bit agitated "Can't you just let us finish..?" and she turned around. When paying, another waiter even dared to say "Service not included", I wasn't gonna tip anyway after this experience. The food was mid quality at best. The steak was ordered medium rare but was very chewy and the grilled fish was nearly cold once served. Based on this experience, would not recommend.
Jarno B — Google review
Zi Teresa is a historic restaurant located right by the yacht harbor in Naples, known for its traditional Neapolitan cuisine and picturesque waterfront views. The setting is elegant, and the location promises a classic dining experience — but sadly, our evening fell short of expectations, especially considering the final bill of €175. We ordered several dishes: the Insalata Caprese was fresh and flavorful — a solid start. The Mazzancolle Griglia (grilled shrimp) came with four large shrimp, but they were overcooked and had a strange, medicinal taste, almost like penicillin. The Cotoletta (breaded cutlet) with fries was tasty but small, more suited for a light lunch. The Filetto di Pepe Verde was very disappointing — the meat tasted boiled and had a noticeable bitterness that made it hard to eat. We were also looking forward to trying their famous “Vesuvio” dessert, but were told it was unavailable — despite being among the first customers of the evening, which was truly disappointing. We ended the meal with Tagliata di Frutta, which was fresh, but felt like a poor substitute for what we had hoped to enjoy. To make matters worse, the end of the meal felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. The waiter told us that tips were not included in the bill and handed us an envelope. He then took the check away and only returned it after coming back to collect the envelope. When we finally saw the receipt, it became clear that a service charge had already been included. As we stood up to leave, he opened the envelope in front of us to check whether a tip had been left — a gesture that felt both disrespectful and inappropriate. Despite its lovely setting and long-standing name, Zi Teresa did not live up to its reputation, and we would not return.
Ol T — Google review
We had a wonderful dining experience at Zi Teresa in Naples! We tried the mussel pasta, grilled swordfish, fried calamari, and salmon. Each dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The seafood was outstanding, and the setting made it even more memorable. With breathtaking views of the bay and Castel dell’Ovo, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food with an unforgettable view!

Hello to everyone My family and i love restaurants and I can say that we have eaten quite a few around the world. I tell you for full certainty - don't get closer to this restaurant. A typical tourist trap. Nasty and shocking food. Services under all criticism. For the first time I left a restaurant and had a desire not to stay and warn people from entering the scene. My advice - all but any other choice in Naples is better!
Alex G — Google review
The food was delicious, the gnocchi in particular was incredible. It’s a cute atmosphere but WOW. The servers were so rude. And would argue about mistakes they had made. Otherwise a great location and menu, and we were able to shake off the bad service aspect and enjoyed our evening… but won’t be back. It’s a shame!!
Ellie H — Google review
The countless amount of flying ants thrown at us by their fan murdered the vibe. It was disgustingly disturbing. Landing on our food, our skins, drinks, just everywhere. And the pasta was not even that good. Not al dente. Def tourist trap and overpriced. Oh yeah and the staff didn’t help. At all. We asked for help and they ignored us. Rude.
