Mountain cable car
Although the weather was not on our side, it was cloudy and a thunderstorm began, but we did not regret that we decided to go to the very top. It was a unique experience, but without a panoramic view.
Olga S — Google review
Breath taking and unforgettable views. Get here early as the later you come the longer wait (8:50 still no wait, 9:40 about 45+ minutes wait).
Martin S — Google review
Can't say it took my burst away... 20-minute climb by cable car to the top (2 exchanges) and seeing only clouds and imported snow...
David N — Google review
From this viewpoint, you can enjoy a view of the Dolomite mountain classics – Marmolada, Tofana di Roses, Civetta, and others. This place allows even those who cannot or are unable to climb mountains to experience their grandeur. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
Raimonds Ī — Google review
Unbeatable views! Dolomites are amazing scenery, never disappoint. From the highest reachable point in the range (without rock climbing), you can see more that you can take in. The 360-degree observation deck is spectacular! The cable car ride up is interesting and intriguing. Great stop if anywhere near the area. The café/bar has good food (service was really slow when our group stopped in) at the 2nd stop, also the bathrooms, museum, and access to some trails with WWI tunnels. Top has the 360 deck where you are right there with Punta Rocca, plus the glacier.
Richard — Google review
Beautiful experience to ski down Marmolada, however the lengthy queue of people (~40 minutes to reach the top) makes you question whether it is really worth the wait. All three cable cars will be packed, and you won’t get to see much until the panoramic platform at 3200m, however, once there the views are truly stunning. There is also only one slope open (as of December 2023).
Iustin R — Google review
The views are nice , but I expected a bit more. Three cable cars that go up once they are fully stuffed without any option for anyone to move inside. The operators are rude and with zero patience (pushing people). The views up are nice indeed (though I don't think they are much better then the alternatives). No real trails to hike there , just take a look from above and that's it.
Maxim B — Google review
Marmolada transforms into a skier's paradise during the winter months. With its extensive slopes and breathtaking alpine scenery, it's a dream destination for snow enthusiasts. Punta Rocca - the summit (3,265 meters), you'll find the starting point for some epic descents. The Bellunese slope is a favorite - it's wide, well-groomed, and offers stunning views. Marmolada Glacier - The glacier itself is a major draw. Imagine gliding down pristine slopes surrounded by icy peaks. The Marmolada Glacier offers both beginner-friendly runs and challenging black diamond trails.

Great lessons in small groups with lots of attention for each kid. Very friendly instructors. Special thanks to Lorenzo for his patience during snowboard class!!!
Natasja C — Google review
I completed a 5 day course this Jan 2023 (2 hours each day). Very fair prices and the office was flexible and let me pay for 3 days first and then added on the extra days. Luckily for me it was a small group with only two other students. The instructor, Marco, was amazing. He kept the lessons light hearted and fun and was able to give each person individualised feedback on how to improve. My instructions and feedback were in English. Good mix of drills and skiing. We learned mostly on the Padon slope and that’s prepared me well for other reds that I’ve done since the lesson. Marco asked us where we wanted to ski on the later days and on request took us down the Marmolada Glacier which I wouldn’t have done without his guidance but was a great experience. I’ve been skiing since the end of the course and keep hearing Marco’s instructions so the lessons he taught definitely sunk in. Would highly recommend the ski school!
Lisa G — Google review
Great instructors, friendly staff with a flexible approach and good value for money. Our kids joined ski school for a week and enjoyed the local vibe while their skiing improved a lot. My husband and I took a few one to one lessons which were great.

We've taken a three days ski course for 2 people: me and my friend. The gentleman at the counter was very nice, we booked everything and paid by card. The second day we met with Giancarlo, we had a very good experience, he's a wonderful teacher with a nice personality. He evaluated our level and decided what we need to improve, first 2 days went well. On the third day when we arrived at out meeting point in Alleghe a different person came, unfortunately Giancarlo had a tooth abscess and had to go to a dentist, so Guido has been assigned for our last day. I don't even know if I learned anything new that day, because I was too distracted by the fact he's taken 16 calls in the 110 minutes, he was not paying attention, and just when he would look in our direction would say the same things about what we were doing wrong. He never excused himself for taking those calls, but me understanding Italian I got that it was not about some personal urgency. Nor was he in a hurry as at the end he just went to the closest bar and got himself a drink while talking on the phone. We went back to the school to complain on this horrible behavior, and we found out Guido was the school director, so the gentleman just raised his shoulders saying he would pass on the feedback, which I am not sure would happen, since it was the director himself.. I am not recommending you not to take courses at this school, just make sure you check who would be your trainer.

(Translated by Google) After a month of phone calls, where they kept telling me that it wasn't possible to make reservations, I decide to pay in advance, to be able to secure a lesson, obviously with advance payment they accept immediately. Unfortunately, after an unexpected event, I reluctantly have to cancel the lesson a week early. So after a phone call where they tell me they will try to fill my time, I no longer hear from anyone. The day before my booking I try to hear back if there was any news, they tell me they have to check. The very morning of the reservation (which would have been from 9 to 10), they call me saying that they cannot refund the hour because they were unable to replace it. A terrible service! I have never found a company that questions its seriousness for such a paltry sum. Another consideration: which teacher gets stopped with a one-week warning? I don't think the teacher was paid for the hour, but a mere attempt to scrape together a few pennies.

MOMENTANEAMENTE CHIUSI - Serrai di Sottoguda is an impressive canyon with vertical walls, bridges, and a small church that make the entry fee worth it. The beautiful nature is interrupted by a paved road, but this makes it easy to walk with young children. Visitors can take a lovely day trip to the next village and even go on a cable car up to Marmolada mountain.
Nice walk , very easy, suitable for kids. 2 km going up the trail and then the same way back. It took us 1 hour. You have one hour free parking.

If you want to take a hike from Malga Ciapel through the canyon to Sottoguda, forget about it quickly. The canyon is still impassable and you can only find out about it on their website. They are probably taking their time with repairs... You can only get to the canyon there and back from Sottoguda and definitely take your own helmet if you have one. You can only get from Malga Ciapel to Sottoguda along an unmarked route on the left side of the road and on the way you will come across a relatively dilapidated bridge, so be careful, it is not in the best condition. I arrived at this location 22 years ago amidst a rainy day, impairing my visibility. Consequently, the road was closed, and I had to settle with working at a wood carving store. Sottoguda is truly an extraordinary place adorned with beautifully decorated houses and an abundance of handcrafted objects made from both wood and metal.
We ran into this delicate store after turned down by the construction work which refused us to visit the canyon nearby, loved the beautiful artworks 🤩

Best Italian food in the Dolomites! The service is amazing, everyone is very friendly, and the food was amazing, I’ve saved this place in case I come next time!! 🩷🩷🩷

Waiter assigns us a table, then disappears. 30 min passes, no sign of a waiter. We go inside, get a menu sheet. In the meantime other guests who came later, receive their order. Now we can also order: soup, second course, coffee. In 15-20 minutes we receive everything at once: soup, second course, coffee at one time (!!!), which is -- sorry to say -- crudeness. Summary: Reasonable food quality, reasonable prices, 0.00% (zero percent) service quality.
Lajos D — Google review
I don’t really understand how someone is leaving good reviews… two stars because the price is decent, but the food is just not it. Cooked by non-Italians (no discrimination intended in any way), and it tastes non-Italian. Low quality, not food for value and honestly just not nice. The place was also a bit sketchy and dirty. Save your time, hunger and money for a nearby restaurant, like the Pizzeria Marmolada (15 minutes walking) or the hotel montanara (up the road).
Manuela M — Google review
We stayed la Montana Hotel 2 nights and eat 2 lunch here. Perfect ambience and good meat! Also prices are not like “you are in the mountain and dont have choice so pay!” I tried also hamburger which is without bread! Yeah why other people didn’t think about that before 😅 less calories and same taste!

Very simple easy going local restaurant. Only one in town so not much to compete against. Still the food is delicious, service is probably not you may be used to but gets the job done. Chef is very friendly and wonders about greeting guests. If you’re lucky enough, he may even give you the story behind the self portrait hanging in the wall. Absolutely amazing restaurant in a location where you do not expect this kind of quality food. We stayed for one night and had a really clean and nice room with a balcony overlooking the mountains. The staff is really friendly and professional, they really knew which wine to pair with the food. We visited with our 2 month old baby and all of the staff were really welcoming, helpfull and understanding. 5 out of 5 without a doubt!

Lovely local restaurant. Most friendly staff we have come across in the Dolomites. Wine list was well stocked, but when we were informed the wine we ordered was not at the right temperature, the waiter quickly recommended a different wine from the same region, at a more reasonable price. All courses we ordered, were beautifully cooked and presented. Chef clearly has Master Chef ambition. Portions, especially the primi/starters, were bigger than expected. We only finished half the wine bottle, which they corked back closed, and gave is to take home in a gift bag. If you happen to be in the vicinity of Rocca Pietore or Marmolada, Baita Dovich is a 'Must Visit'.

Nice expositions of Great war, why Great war started, how fights were in Dolomiti area. I recommend to visit this museum, if you are in this place. Descriptions are in Italian, German and English languages. You do not pay extra money for visit.

An amazing ride to the mountain tops combined with an interesting insight into WWI battles.
Brent M — Google review
Lots of great information in Italian, German, and English. Different things to see even though it was clouded over outside. Several great videos playing for more information.

A very small and nice museum, situated at the highest altitude in Europe. The entrance is free. It describes the italian experience in WW1, specific to the area where Marmolada is. It's worth stopping by for a visit.
Dragos S — Google review
Interesting museum about the Great War and the fighting in the alpine regions, but the layout of the museum is quite bad. There are items to read on both sides of small hallways, so people are always in each others’ way. Entry is included with your gondola ticket.

Please recognise the helpfulness of my review, by pressing the LIKE button! We visited the Marmolada Glacier on 19 August 2017. At the second cable car station there are some war memorabilia and statues to see outside, but also a small museum which is well worth a visit. The museum is free, entrance effectively included in the cable car fee. The 3000M refers to the height of the Museum which is pretty high at 3,000 metres. You can't take photos in the Museum unfortunately, but it was a very well presented and very informative museum. It basically tells the story of how the Marmolada and surrounding area was fought over, defended and lost during the First World War. I particularly liked the old footage of soldiers skiing through the mountains from the period.

Mountains
Marmolada is a stunning 10,968-ft. mountain with multiple summits, offering an aerial tram and wintertime skiing. From its peaks, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of surrounding mountains such as Peitlerkofel, Odle and Puez groups, Gran Cir, Sella group, Langkofel, Plattkofel, Pala group, Vajolet towers, Rosengarten group with the Kesselkogel peak and the Schlern.
I have really enjoyed. Beautiful views around, from view terrace. About clouds, and few degrees less as down. Absolutely worth it 👌

Winter in the Summer Came here some time in June when it was almost summer. Temperature was about 26-27C on the ground. But it was close to zero C at the peak. Was kinda cool to feel the change happening within a half hour. The trip up is by a 3 stage cable car service taking us to intermediate points where we switch to the next stage. At the 2nd switch point there is a nice cafe with a wonderful view of the area. I recommend at least to have coffee or a meal here. There are souvenir shops on the level as well. At each change point, one can take pictures of the surrounding area. The view from the top is breath taking and beautiful. Clouds do sometimes block the view and all we have to do is wait for it to move away. Definitely something for your itinerary.
Beary B — Google review
Absolutely stunning. Make sure you have enough points on your ticket for going back down. At the top it’s just a viewpoint and a ski area. It’s very basic. The middle area has food and gifts. The food is also basic. It has more of a diner feel. Still leave enough time to go slow and enjoy the view.

Awesome views! Dolomites are amazing scenery, never disappoint. From the highest reachable point in the range (without rock climbing), you can see more that you can take in! Top has the 360 deck where you are right there with Punta Rocca, plus the glacier and all the glory of the Dolomites spreading out all around you.

The most beautiful peak in the Dolomites The highest Full comfort Three cable cars with breathtaking views Amazing souvenir shop Many options for photo spots Option to climb on foot or by cable car (at the second station) Suitable for everyone It is possible to take the elevator from the top floor to the 4th and take photos on the snow surface There is a charming and well-kept museum about the First World War on the territory Very clean area. Marmolada, known as the "Queen of the Dolomites", is the highest mountain group in the Eastern Alps. Its highest peak, Ponte Peña, rises to a height of 3,343 meters above sea level and is surrounded by an impressive perennial glacier. The Marmolada area, which extends over more than 2,200 square kilometers, is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites due to its unique landscapes. Highly recommend The trip is recommended for a few good hours, starting at 9 am

I did the West ridge via ferrata. It was beautiful but cloudy. It's not a particularly challenging ferrata but there is a bit of snow below the forcella della Marmolada and on the ridge. I highly recommend the strudel in Punta penia hut. Keep in mind that it can get quite crowded.
Varpu V — Google review
We visited here with my family in August, we arrived in the morning, but the parking lot was already full, so parking was difficult, we had to wait in a line for about 30 minutes to get to the cable car, which is relatively expensive, but it's worth it because it takes you up to 3300 meters very quickly. At the highest point there is a lookout and there is a possibility to go on a covered glacier, but there is no restaurant or toilet, only at the middle station. The view of the Dolomites is beautiful from the top, it wasn't that cold up there, about 12 degrees Celsius.

Fantastic view ! Came from the 🇺🇸, Michigan, to ski in Italy 🇮🇹. Beautiful scenery. Snow ❄️ conditions when we went were not the best . So some days were icy 🥶. And we also went during Christmas/new Years. A few days the lines were massive!

(Translated by Google) This pass at 2900 meters above sea level connects the Contrin valley with the Ombretta valley where the Falier refuge is located. It is located in the heart of the Dolomites and offers breathtaking landscapes. The shortest route is from the Fuciade refuge but requires a couple of hours at a good pace. There are no particular difficulties. Be careful beyond the Cirelle pass because the path is not always clearly visible. To be avoided in fog.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful excursion in the presence of the Marmolada, once you reach the Falier refuge, I recommend for those who are fit to reach the Ombretta pass and the bivouac above, a beautiful excursion with a 1400 MT difference in altitude. The most challenging part is from the Falier refuge to the Ombretta pass, but once you arrive, the effort made is immediately rewarded by the view. Sasso Vernale, a peak standing at an elevation of 3,000 meters within the Marmolada group, offers breathtaking views of the Dolomites, border peaks, and even stretches as far as the plain. It can be easily accessed via a trail that connects Ombrettola pass to Cirelle pass. While there are some rocky sections along the way for experienced hikers, reaching this majestic summit is quite achievable.
For some reason almost forgoten mountain with just stunning view and quite easy access (for 3000+).

We parked our car at Parcheggio ( free parking) and walked to the right until we found a paved road on the left. We walked up and found a small village. Then, we crossed a small wooden bridge and followed Forca Rossa sign. It’s panoramic view. We found horses and marmots on the way back around 6pm.

Rifugio Serauta is a culinary gem nestled in the breathtaking Dolomites, where you can indulge in delicious meals even after 2 PM. The highlight of my visit was the incredible pasta—especially the tagliatelle, which left me craving more! Be prepared for generous portions that are sure to satisfy your appetite. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
They serve food after 14 as well. We had most amazing pasta there, must warn that the.portions are quite large. The staff are friendly, view amazing. Totally must eat in place. Also, they had Corsican beer 😁

We came to the restaurant to drink some coffe and eat cake, after we bought those thing we sat at the table next to the window to have the best view on the mountains, suddenly the waiter came and told us that we can not seat here because it is not the right part of the restaurant to drink coffe, we went to the right one, which is next to the entrance, without a view and all the tables were dirty, they cleaned it but still I do not understand whats the problem in sitting next to the window when half of the tables were empty. It was very weird and not nice from the staf and some time Ago there was no such a problem there. After a disscusion with waitres she told me that we can sit there for only 10 minutes, staring at us like we are some idiots. Pathetic.

How can you serve a cappuccino in plastic cups with plastic spoons in the middle of an UNESCO heritage wonderful site? And packaged long conservation brioches from the supermarket? Such a marvellous view ruined by a low level service and offering: a huge pity!! It is the first time I see something similar in the Dolomites

50 minutes waiting to give up because service was non existent. This was going to the till and being told they would come and being told to wait multiple times. Beyond a joke with 2 very hungry young kids. What are you playing at? Bring a packed lunch...
Nick G — Google review
The food was extremely average. But the view makes up for it. You really don’t have anywhere else to stop to eat on Marmolada so you’ve got no choice. It is self service but the cashiers are kind and helpful. The food is very average and it feels like college dorm food. There is a severe lack of options and no English on the menu, so I hope you can read Italian. There is limited seating and on a crowded day it could get chaotic.

Diners can enjoy well-prepared meals, particularly recommending the tender venison, all served in generous portions at reasonable prices.
