For a short break between train journeys, we arrived on the Welsh Highland Railway and visited the castle. It was our first visit and we enjoyed our time walking around. Our grandson managed the narrow steps up and down the towers. We had about an hour and it was enough time to walk around most of the site. It was a five minute walk from the station. The towers have narrow steps which might prove a challenge and the ropes help. The views from the top of the castle were amazing, across the harbour and out to sea, and towards Snowdonia. A great place to bring children and the lift to view the castle is a bonus.

A wonderful experience and worth the money. Absolutely stunning castle with great areas with information. Museum was wonderful to walk around. Areas have been adapted for accessibility. Lots of narrow spiral staircases but lit well and all have ropes or supports.

Loved it. Lots of history here. This castle is well preserved and authentic looking. This alone makes it 5 stars. Castle fans will have fun here. But! This means danger as well. The spiral staircase can be dangerous to say the least. Especially in the down pour that we were in. Many of the steps are only a couple inches wide, barely enough for a toe or heel. You're given a rope (soaking wet in our case) to hang into as you climb up or down. If you explore more, you'll find you can get to to the walls with regular stairs. And if you think even those are too difficult, there is an elevator. Ask the staff to direct you to it. The museum is interesting, but has very little to do with the castle itself, more about war in general. There are recorded voice guides you can listen to if you pay the £3 price for the device. I'm not sure why this has a cost when the same device at castell coch was free.

Visited Caernarfon Castle using English Heritage membership and got half price tickets since we were still in our first year of membership. If your membership is renewed after the first year, you can visit this site for free, which is a good deal for regular travellers. The castle itself is very beautiful, with lots of climbing as there are several towers to explore. The stairs can be a bit much, but the amazing scenery from the top of the tower makes it totally worth the effort. Had a great time exploring the history and enjoying the fantastic views all around.

Spent 2hrs with a toddler and baby going up and down towers, running around the walls. Toddler had a fantastic time, with close supervision at all times (large drops off walls, very steep steps, etc). Baby needed to be in a carrier as pushchair is obviously not going up into the towers. There is a raised area (above the great hall) which has got lift access, which offers lovely views and gives you the same sort of experience as climbing the towers, so don't feel out of it you have limited mobility. Great baby change and disabled changing facilities - very clean.

Fabulous place, wear good comfortable shoes there are lots of steps which are obviously, old, worn, wet, steep, narrow etc but worth the climb up the towers, museum in one part, lovely new sculptures dotted about the place. Little outdoor cafe area for drinks, sandwiches and cakes which is very reasonably priced, 2 coffees and 2 cakes for £10. We were there over 2 hours but could have spent more time, if you only want to go up a couple of towers do 2 at opposite ends to get different views and perspectives. Little shop sells lovely locally handmade items as well as usual Cadw/English Heritage pencils etc. Well worth a visit and Caernarfon town looking good too, especially the area within the castle walls. Car park is in the shadow of the castle, see pictures for price, public toilets in car park as well

What an absolutely amazing castle. So much to see and do within the castle, from views to interactive experiences. Be prepared for a lot of steps, but well worth it. So many amazing views, from lots of different view points. Lovely cafe within the castle, great for refreshments, especially after all the steps. Very clean toilets in the castle too. The Royal Welsh Fusilier Regimental Museum is a must to visit while at the castle, all included in your castle admission fee. So much history about the Regiment, lovely to see and learn about it all. The castle even has modern features, like an access elevator at the Kings Gate. Could of easily spent a few days seeing everything the castle has to offer, but managed to get the majority in while there. The gift shop is a must in the Regimental Museum and the larger gift shop in the castle. Overall, fantastic value for money.

Food was amazing and the view breath taking. We wanted to visit the castle but stopped first at this lovely pub for food and we loved it. We will most definitely be back again. I totally recommend it.

The food was excellent; fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. The views were stunning, adding to the relaxed atmosphere. The beer was cold, crisp, and refreshing. Overall, a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this place for great food, service, and scenery.

Great location and views over to Angelsey. Had dinner here and it was tasty . Service was good and the young men doing the waiter service and bar were really polite and efficient. The only thing was the toilets were poor. They smelt bad and needed cleaning. On the wall was a vending machine selling dodgy, love aid tablets. This looked terrible. Added to the seedy toilet. This was the men's toilet. Get rid of it. Employ a good cleaner. Being dog friendly is a pub bonus.

Absolutely stunning location. Behind you is the castle, and in front of you are the Menai Straits, on a sunny day it is simply perfect. Highly recommended for the views alone! A lovely spot to rest the legs after a days walking and exploring. We were greeted by Candace, who helped us decide what to order and the service was fantastic throughout our time at the pub. Candace also recommended things to do in the local area which made our time at the pub even more pleasant. The food was lovely, the drinks were refreshing and the service was excellent. All the best!

Great views around the bay, staff were very nice. But our food was barely acceptable. I had sirloin steak which was really quite bad. Almost tasteless, dried out and over cooked. The chicken and mushroom pie was unfortunately no better. Lots of pastry and almost no chicken. I can't recommend for food.

First visit for a few years because it became shabby, service got very slow, tables didn't get wiped very often and the wait for food was so long I could have swam to Anglesey and back. Called in a couple of days ago with a friend who was staying with me from London and thought I had walked into a different place. The new owner has made it cleaner and nicer, he is far more welcoming than the last time we went. I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat but we will go back now we know it has changed. Great views across the sea, great sunsets and plenty of seating outside too. Definitely worth a visit now

Location of the pub is great and the staff were very friendly. We ate lunch here today and unfortunately it was not very pleasant. The steak I had was overcooked and chewy. The pies were dry. The meals arrived at differing times and it seemed two orders were forgotten. When the pie finally came it was stone cold in the middle. Just a really disappointing meal.

It's not a massive place but is nice for a visit. It has disabled parking, but these aren't laid out wider bays, just 4 ordinary bays allocated as blue badge only. There is a disabled toilet outside the building, but not practical for wheelchair access due to the metal lip at the entrance. Inside it was very worn with rust on the metal rails. The animal tanks have seen better days and there were some with animals inside with no natural habitat, but the layout was pleasant and informative. There is a cobbled path that takes you around the exhibits, and it is manageable for a wheelchair user. Whilst 'accessible' for the most part, this is not by precise design and there are some ramps/inclines that are steep, and loose gravel in the car park, which makes it more difficult for wheelchair users. Saying that, the majority of the exhibits were accessible and easy to view from a wheelchair. There is a specific concession for carers, with free access on production of proof of being a carer. We produced our National Trust Carer Card and this was accepted. The entrance fee isn't bad, and was overall an enjoyable hour. A nice cafe and gift shop.

Small local sea life places beat the big ones anyday, love the quirky exhibits. Really enjoyed the lobsters and octopus, the play area was for smaller kids really and there was a bit of a long wait for food but otherwise a nice little day and great views. Would recommend.

Not a bad little sea life centre with good viewing areas. But it was slightly over charged for the size! Would say it would be better for a younger family as there is a play area and mine golf outside that my older children wasn't interested in.

I first visited this place 30+ years ago, & wasn't disappointed this time either. Lovely exhibits of local marine life, knowledgeable staff and very helpful and friendly. I must give special thanks to Megan who worked in the gift shop/cafe. She was so patient, helpful and knowledgeable about the gifts, with a lovely, bubbly personality to match.

We visited on a rainy day and left slightly disappointed. While the Menai views outside the zoo are stunning, the actual building feels quite dated and relatively small. There are some interesting creatures and informative displays, but the whole place would benefit from some investment and serious TLC. The cleanliness of the aquariums and the overall quality of the displays leave much to be desired, and everything feels rather outdated. I wouldn’t visit again.

You can't book tickets on line, we came over on a light rain/shower/overcast day, my daughter love sea animals. We rite by the coast and on narrow roads so be careful when driving here. When I arrived it was busy but not heavy. However I do find disorganised car park attendants. When we parked in the overflow, we arrived at the reception there was a big queue. We wait around 20 mins to get to the till. As soon as I saw the inside I thought it was gonna be tight. There was a good selection of different sea animals but the problem I found was very overcrowded, people crawling over each other rather than staying in one place felt like we did a quick walk round cos it can be too much especially for sensory people. Once we finished, we ended up in a shop, overcrowding again but managed to get through again with 5 mins wait until the till. Then I decided to go to the cafe for a drink, the wrong idea again. Wait another 20 mins for services. I'm glad I didn't order hot food because I dared to see how long I would have to wait. The playground is more for underage 8, the golf wasn't open. Overall it is a shame as it has a good view for seeing sea life but felt a bit old, hazard and lack of service and long wait. To be fair it feels like I waited longer than exploring the sea life world.

Absolutely love this rocky little beach. There's a toll to access that is basically your parking. The beach is rocky, so best take flip flops to walk around in. When the tide is out there's loads of rock pools, and when it's in then you can swim as the water gets deep quite quickly. There's a lovely little cafe there too that dies great ice cream and has a nice little seating area. We went on bank holiday and it wasn't packed at all. Great views and super relaxed

A beautiful spot, and the cafe is fantastic. Delicious food and drinks, and friendly staff. The only minor drawback is the toll, which is charged no matter how long you stay. And the next morning, around 10 a.m., the man who collected the toll when we drove in knocks on the motorhome and collects another £12.50 for the toll and parking. That's a bit cheeky, considering we haven't even driven on the road yet. That was a rather expensive experience.

Some lovely features here like the light house and the rocky shore line, you can fish here but there's alot of rocks to snag your line on(I did loads) nice little cafe with a good variety of ice cream and drinks. There's a lighthouse just off shore.and some interesting rock formations on the beach, also puffin Island is very close by

Acts as a toll road so is £3.50 to use it per day, payable before you go onto the road. Plenty of spots to park your van or car overnight. No rubbish left which was great to see.

Great place to sit and let time pass by, a little toll to get up the road, a really nice little cafe to have something to eat & drink, many places to go for a walk as well.

Due to access being down a private road you have to pay but £1 for my motorbike was great value (£3.50 for a car) but theres no parking fee once at the point. On a sunny warm day like today the views are fantastic. There is a cafe there also.

We stay at the old life boat house here. It's beautiful and restful. Plenty of wildlife and seabirds. I've seen grey seals and dolphins here. There is a £3.50 charge to come on but it is worth it just for the cafe alone.

Excellent pancake shop with a brilliant range of options, lovely atmosphere (indoor and outdoor seating). Brilliant value, especially the kids menu which included a pancake, drink, and ice cream. Great gluten free options available.

When visiting Caernarfon, we stopped by and had an ice cream as they looked amazing. We are so glad we did. It was absolutely gorgeous. They have different/unique flavours comparing to other places, and they were really good. The prices are quite reasonable as well. We spot other places selling ice cream and none looked as good as this one. If you are in the area, you should try it

Plenty of ice cream & smoothie options, very friendly staff who will let you try some of the unique flavours. Great selections of vegan friendly ones and also a doggy mint ice cream and treats on the side. Sadly no seating as it was a rainy day, so I can’t comment on the decor. I enjoyed the raspberry sorbet and the pineapple smoothie.

We visited the cafe 27th of August, myself, My husband and my son. When we arrived, the cafe was pretty busy. It was advised that we could reserve the next vacant table and come back in 10/15 minutes and that was exactly what we did. On arrival we were seated, ordered our drinks and were advised there would be a 30 minute wait if we ordered pancakes. I was happy to be advised of the waiting time and for us the wait was no problem. The pancakes were really good (savoury), worth the wait, my only disappointment was not having enough room left for a sweet pancake! The main reason for the review was to give credit to the lovely staff, they were brilliant, hard working, informative, helpful and really friendly, nothing was to much trouble. It makes all the difference to be made to feel welcome. It's small and popular cafe, so, where possible, a bit of flexibility doesn't go a miss. Thanks again xx

Food was outstanding. We loved it. Did feel it was quite expensive for 1 pancake. There did not seem to be enough staff to run the restaurant with the amount of customers there were. It looked like everyone was run off their feet and just to busy to focus on customer service. We had to wait 40+ minutes for a pancake each. It was like they were not equipped to deal with larger groups arriving.

Stopped here for an ice-cream passing by and it was lovely! The girl who served us was so friendly and attentive, she checked the flavours I wanted for me to check they were gluten free before I ordered which I really appreciated! Brilliant ice-cream and lovely atmosphere, thank you!

Pancakes were very nice but quite pricey for what you get. Lots of flavours, sweet or savoury. Seating in front and garden room. In front lots of seagulls so beware. Lots of people sitting eating ice cream cones not eating or drinking otherwise. Looks like it closed at 4 and they were trying to clear up when still eating. Signs weren't clear that they were due to close.

The family were absolutely lovely- genuinely kind and welcoming. The coffee was beautiful, bursting with rich flavor, and paired perfectly with the locally baked cakes that were simply delicious! The experience went beyond the beverage, as we received directions to local landmarks near Newborough Beach, along with useful information on the tides. And as a bonus, we even got a free picture to remember our visit. Kind souls, great coffee, and exceptional service- definitely a must-visit spot!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Lovely speciality coffee, we came just before closing for coffee and cake. The Barra Brith was amazing! Moist and fresh and a cracking big slice too (complete with Welsh butter!) They sell their own coffee beans and we bought a bag too. The coffee tastes amazing! Oat milk is available too! Outdoor seating has a fantastic view. UPDATE - we’ve now had a chance to try the beans we bought when visiting. They’re AMAZING! Lovely smooth chocolatey flavour. I’ll be buying more of these beans, hopefully they sell 1kg bags (photo added of the coffe made at home).

Fantastic cafe. Excellent food and cakes. Coffee was also a big hit. Great service, very friendly. We had our dogs and the outside seating was perfect and undercover for when the heavens opened!! We had to visit twice as it was so good. Thank you!

Wild windy day and this little gem was a great stop over on our trip around Anglesea. Beautiful staff. Simple menu but tasty and great coffee. Small place so we we lucky to find a seat on a wild rainy day.

We had a lovely stop at Heritage. The food was wonderful, the owners delightful... we will be back. Highly recommend the Brie, apricot and nectarine ciabatta. Delicious 😋

Amazing brunch spot, coffee and food were to die for, a must visit! Staff were very friendly and accommodating and knew the menu inside out. They didn't have any croissants when we ordered but advised they were baking some and let us know when they were ready, and they were 100% worth the wait!

Went for brunch and WOW, best I've had in a LONG time. The coffee was amazing and the breakfasts were SO tasty. My usual brekky is an eggs Benedict if eating out and although I was tempted by a big breakfast I went with the pork belly Benedict and it was gorgeous!! Also happy I had some room because we had caramel cruffins and they were to die for. Highly recommend if you're round the Newborough forest area, or anywhere else in Anglesey actually! The service and atmosphere was just as impeccable as the food. A real gem of a place 💎

A truly great find. Fresh local produce from their farm, local seafood, oysters from an oyster farm nearby, really lovely service. You’ll pay a bit more for this meal but it’s worth it for the amazing flavours you won’t get anywhere else. I’d say one of the best meals I’ve had out in years.

Surprise beer and almond croissant while walking the coastal path. Beautiful outdoor seating area, and just what you need after 20 odd miles.

Had a superb brunch this morning. Such a relaxing atmosphere inside the place and the staff were very friendly and attentive throughout. The food - every single bite was packed full of flavour and was of excellent quality too. Thank you! We loved it all!

This is one of the best full breakfasts I've had in ages. You could just tell that the produce used was of really high quality. Good coffee and juice, and my mate's rhubarb juice that he ordered was a taste sensation. Friendly staff, nice decor, and we were even admiring the knives and forks. Not the cheapest you'll find, but I'd say it's worth it. It's also nestled a short drive away from one of the most stunning beaches you'll likely see anywhere.
