The Acropolis of Athens is an iconic 5th-century B.C. temple complex located on a rocky hilltop in Athens, currently undergoing restoration. Visitors can explore this historic site by purchasing a Special Ticket Package that includes access to other nearby attractions like the Ancient Agora, Temple of Hephaestus, and Hadrian's Library. Additionally, tourists can enjoy stunning views of the Acropolis from retro-chic design hotels situated near the Parthenon's east gate and the Acropolis Museum.
Beautiful. I went in the afternoon so it was super warm.. But I bought my ticket via the official website days before and just had to wait until it was the time on the ticket and could walk in easily! It is busy while waiting but every hour a whole group goes up!
Amber J — Google review
A couple of things to know before you go: 1. A long walk to the top but not as bad as expected. A considerable amount of stairs, but enjoyable. The granite at the top is very slippery—watch out. 2. Very limited bathrooms. There are no restrooms at the top. The ones at the bottom are insufficient for the amount of people. 3. We went at 5 PM to avoid the heat. It was pleasant at the top with a good breeze. I’d recommend the later time slots as the low sun makes for better pictures. 4. I bought my tickets the day before. The earlier time slots were sold out. It seemed that people were buying tickets onsite, so you don’t necessarily need a reservation. A must-go while in Athens. Better than expected.
Aaron — Google review
Visiting the Acropolis was honestly one of the highlights of my trip to Athens. No matter how many pictures you’ve seen, nothing really prepares you for standing up there in person. The view over the city is incredible — you can see the whole of Athens stretching out below, with the sea glimmering in the distance. I went early in the morning to avoid the heat and crowds, and that was definitely the right move. Climbing up is not too hard, but wear comfy shoes and bring water — the stones can be slippery. Once you reach the top, the Parthenon and the other ancient temples feel almost unreal. You can actually feel the history around you, it’s crazy to think how long these structures have been standing. The atmosphere is peaceful, especially if you take a moment to just sit and look around. The Acropolis Museum nearby is also worth a visit — it’s modern, cool, and helps you understand what you’re seeing up there. Overall, it’s an absolute must-see in Athens. Go early, take your time, and enjoy the view — it’s one of those experiences that truly stays with you. 🇬🇷✨

What can I say? One of the most iconic archaeological sites in the entire world. An absolute must visit, come early at 8am either with a guided tour or with pre book tickets because it gets very busy as you'd expect. We visited in late October,it was 24c which was perfect weather. Our visit was with a guide from Viator. I will visit again just so I can explore the slopes which we didn't have the chance too.
Phil W — Google review
Very busy but worth it! Cue to get a ticket which gives you a time slot, you then have to join another cue to enter. Lots of people but well worth it. Breathtaking place. Toilets long cue and not that great.
Eleanor S — Google review
Visiting the Acropolis of Athens is truly an unforgettable experience. Standing at the top of the city, this ancient site radiates beauty, power, and timeless majesty. The view from above is breathtaking — you can see all of Athens stretching out below, while the Parthenon and other temples remind you of the city’s glorious past. Every stone seems to tell a story of art, philosophy, and civilization. The architecture is simply magnificent, especially when the sunlight hits the marble and turns it golden. Whether you love history, culture, or just want to feel inspired, the Acropolis is a place that leaves you in awe. A must-see destination that captures the heart and spirit of Greece.
Mir S — Google review
I'll give it 5 stars because this place is simply stunning and definitely worth a visit! From the top, you'll have a breathtaking panorama of the entire city. The temples at the top are undergoing renovation, but they're still magnificent! However, the entrance fee of 30 euros per person is too high for these sites! There are so many tourists and the sun is scorching and there are no restrooms or water for sale inside. It's a pity the caves below can't be visited.
Ola O — Google review
Absolutely stunning - it’s almost impossible to take a bad photo up here. Yes you can easily do it yourself, but with a guide you do find out a lot more - plus you can jump a queue as well, saving lots of time.

The Parthenon, a restored ancient temple with iconic Doric columns dating back to 447 BC, is a must-see landmark on the archaeological site in Athens. Visitors can explore major historical and archaeological sites such as the Acropolis, the renowned museum, and other significant cultural museums like the Benaki Museum of Islamic Art and the Museum of Cycladic Art. In addition to historical sites, Athens offers vibrant neighborhoods and pedestrian streets for visitors to explore.
I came on a weekday, but it was still crowded because it was the end of the travel season,The view overlooking the city of Athens, a magnificent structure, was magical. Although there was nothing exciting, I was glad to have seen it with my own eyes. The birthplace of civilization, the oldest city, the once prosperous and powerful city in the world.
Paula S — Google review
A must see if visiting Athens. Its uneven surfaces for parts of it so walking boots are recommended. The Parthenon is very impressive and the View of Athens from the tip shows how big Athens is. Worth getting a guided tour to learn the history of the site.
John M — Google review
We've been there at the end of October, which is is probably the best time of the year. Weather is usually still sunny, while at the same time its not too hot. And the Acropolis is not overcrowded even tho you will meet lots of ppl. Keep in mind this is one of the worlds most visited must-see hotspots. You have to book a time slot in advance when you buy the tickets. If your kids are EU citizens and under 18y old, they do not have to pay the current 30 EUR entrance fee! They get free entrance, but passports/IDs are required to proof your citizenship. You can not book these free kids tickets in advance online. So you will have to line up at the two ticket offices. Once at the office you usually wont get instant access. So plan for another 2-3 hours waiting time ahead. We went to the acropolis museum (extra 20 € pp, kids free). Try to visit the museum before you actually visit the Acropolis as you will learn a lot. Once you are on the top you will understand why this place is so special. View is spectecular and you will notice how massive the buildings must have been. Enjoy!

It’s the most important sightseeing attraction in Athens and it’s worth it, but 30€ is not a cheap amount of money to get the entrance. But you’ll get an amazing view, especially during sunset hour. I can highly recommend to book your ticket online in advance, otherwise you have to wait in line for more than an hour in the worst case.

What can I say about the Acropolis and Parthenon to add to its natural historical splendor? Visiting the here isn’t just another sightseeing stop — it’s a journey back to the very roots of Western civilization. Standing at the top of that hill, overlooking Athens, you can really appreciate the beauty of the place. If you love history, and art, the Acropolis isn’t just a site to visit; it’s an experience to feel. Highly recommend to come early and order tickets in advance. Definitely take a guided tour to really appreciate what you’re seeing.

Awesome moment to visit a place like Acropolis and to see the Parthenon!! It was surreal!! Very beautiful. ...and I know why they chose that location. The views were amazing!!
Edmond M — Google review
The Acropolis/Parthenon experience was nice. The climb up wasn’t so bad (just kind slippery floors and wear shoes with good grip). We bought tickets a day prior for the 6pm slot and were allowed in at 5.45pm. The good: Overall a pretty place. As a history buff, it was a special experience to be standing at a place where so much history was made. Got some nice photos of the structures against the evening sun. There were shaded spots here and there for some respite from the sun. The bad: The €30 ticket price. It isn’t justified given that there are a lot of works actively being done inside. There were a lot of scaffolding and machinery around. The structures were also cordoned off. You just feel like a visitor going through the area and snapping pictures instead of feeling like you’re really experiencing what it must have been like to be up at the Acropolis back then. Some may be okay with this, but I just feel a €20 ticket would make more sense.

Visiting a unique place can provide a refreshing escape from the ordinary. You can discover something new and interesting with every corner you turn. The experience of immersing yourself in a different culture can be enriching and exciting. There's a certain joy in exploring the unknown and making lasting memories. The Acropolis Museum, a modern glass and steel structure, has been open to the public since 2009. Its design allows for stunning views of the Parthenon from almost every corner. The museum showcases artifacts unearthed around the citadel, offering insight into the culture and daily life of ancient Greek civilizations. While there is debate about whether certain exhibits should be returned to Greece, visitors can appreciate beautifully crafted copies in place of the originals.
A truly spectacular museum that is packed full of highly beautiful and interesting artefacts. It was informative, spacious and well-thought out. You can easily spend a few hours exploring. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Athens, and I would highly recommend a visit. Pre booking your tickets online means you can head straight to the turnstiles at your allocated time - which is well worth doing.

A great stop if you are exploring Athens. The building is modern with huge windows and a clear view of the Acropolis itself. Inside, you will find ancient sculptures, pottery, and a cool glass floor that shows ruins underneath. The top floor has the Parthenon pieces laid out like they were originally placed at scale, and the cafe has a solid view. Easy to enjoy even if you are not a history buff.

We were initially unsure whether to visit the Acropolis Museum, as some reviews claimed it wasn’t worth it. However, we decided to go anyway — and we’re really glad we did. The entrance fee was €20 (current price as of autumn 2025). We went around 6 PM and it was almost empty, with no lines at all. The museum was open until 8 PM, so we had plenty of time to walk around and explore. The museum itself is beautiful. It features an impressive collection of artifacts found on the slopes of the Acropolis, as well as everyday objects from different periods of Athenian history. There are also many statues, architectural fragments from temples, and other fascinating pieces. On top of that, the museum offers lovely views of the Acropolis and the surrounding area. We later found out that there is an audio guide available — just look for the QR code inside the museum. We wish we had noticed it earlier! Overall, it’s definitely worth a visit. We had a great experience.

One of my favorite museum experiences worldwide! Bernard Tschumi’s masterpiece covers Athens historical layers by physically reconstructing them through five different levels. The context and the place in the city are omnipresent and shine through the building. The museum is generously laid out and there’s hardly any waiting times. The flows through the exhibits work smoothly and although there are huge numbers of visitors there is never any feeling of crowding. Full points for this jewel!
Andreas L — Google review
A very well-thought-out and well-organized museum with beautiful unique exhibits. It uses modern technology in a great way to bring the glory and power of ancient Greece to life. The museum also has a nice café with good service and a view of the Acropolis — not the very best view, as you can see from the photos, but still lovely. Definitely worth a visit!
Az R — Google review
Visit together with Acropolis. It will make a lot of sense to combine the info. It is walking distance for about 5-10 minutes after leaving Acropolis. We (2 children + 2 adults) visited on Monday (approx 13:30), bought tickets from the museum and waited for about 10-15 minutes. There are 4 floors to visit with a lot of details and great artwork. You need to leave all backpacks and luggage before the entrance, you get a card.
Catalin C — Google review
the museum is beautifully designed, with an amazing view of the Parthenon and a big collection of artifacts. take advantage of the audio guide if you're not part of a group - for me it added depth to each exhibit and helped me understand what I was seeing in a much more meaningful way. in general, the museum's layout made it easy to explore at my own pace. highly recommend for history lovers!

Fantastic modern space with lovely lighting provides a nice atmosphere. We went in November and it was busy. Can only imagine July and August are a nightmare. It's spacious calm informative. Shame to see how many of the Elgin Marbles are missing. The ones in the British Museum are recreated in plaster. Only downside was the cafe/restaurant. Great menu awful service ended up leaving without eating

To Kafeneio is a charming and cozy cafe located in the heart of Athens, offering a warm and down-to-earth atmosphere. The retro interior and laid-back vibe make it feel like a vintage time warp, attracting both locals and adventurous travelers. This gem serves up traditional Greek delicacies such as saganaki, dolmades, spanakopita, and tzatziki that will have your taste buds dancing to a traditional Greek sirtaki.
It was absolutely delicious! I would recommend to try eggplant appetizer first - it has smoky flavor! The marinated trout and pork from main menu was also delicious!
Tamar K — Google review
To Kafeneio offers a wonderfully authentic Greek dining experience nestled at the foot of the Acropolis in the historic Plaka neighborhood. Wandering through the uneven, maze-like cobblestone streets around the restaurant truly feels like stepping back into ancient Greece. It’s said that this place has been around for 140 years—and you can feel the history! I originally tried visiting in the evening, but it was completely packed. So I came back the next day for lunch and was lucky enough to get a table after waiting just about 10 minutes. The food was delicious—the Greek salad with a full block of feta cheese was absolutely satisfying, the eggplant dip with honey was a delightful sweet-and-savory treat 👍, and the meatballs in sauce were flavorful and tender 👌. The only dish that didn’t quite win me over was the tomato fritters—I found them a bit dry for my taste. Overall, it’s a very local and genuine experience with great traditional flavors and friendly service. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy classic Greek cuisine in a charming historical setting!

Here, I had the very best feta and tomato salad I have had in my whole life (and ever since, despite having many more during our time in Greece). We tried a range of local specialities, and all were simply stunning. I would also love to highlight the incredible service—thank you for making this experience so memorable!

I recently dined at this charming tavern in Athens and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. The staff was absolutely outstanding and incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making the whole visit feel special. As for the food, it was top-notch! The prices were more than fair for the quality and portion sizes. I had the kavourma and sausages, both served in a rich, flavorful sauce that was perfectly balanced. The traditional pitas (pies) were a great complement, adding to the authenticity of the meal. A tip for anyone visiting, before your meal, be sure to try a shot or two of rakomelo (Cretan raki). It’s the perfect start to your dining experience!

Gluten-free restaurant
Nestled near the temple of Olympian Zeus and the Acropolis metro, Veganaki is a charming eatery offering vegan Mediterranean cuisine with gluten-free options. This all-day cafe boasts a lovely terrace and a welcoming indoor space, setting it apart from other vegan spots in Athens. Since its opening in April 2018, it has gained popularity for reimagining traditional Greek recipes into delectable vegan versions using fresh, flavorful ingredients.
We stopped here for lunch - and the food was so good we also got take away for dinner later! It was a perfect lunch place after seeing the sights - and we sat inside - which is nicely appointed. They have restrooms and sinks downstairs. I had the avocado pocket pie for lunch, then the vegan moussaka for dinner. The pocket pie was really great with the wrap and all of the tasty ingredients - It was exactly what I wanted. Excellent vegan food! The moussaka was a really large portion - I was able to save some for leftovers the next day! Fantastic spot for vegan food in Athens - very close to everything.

I really loved this place and im not even vegan! The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, its our second time here and it never disappointed us. The gourmet salad is simply out of this world. Highly recommended.
Ayman H — Google review
We visited this place twice during our trip in Athens. The first time we got the carbonara and the club sandwich. The carbonara was nice, but the club sandwich was just okay. It didn’t seem so fresh. However, the second time we were AMAZED. It’s as if there was a new cook or chef in the house. The club sandwich looked nothing like the first time. It was DELICIOUS, a much bigger portion and seemed so fresh and warm compared to the first time. The pastitsio was also incredibly delicious!! And portions were BEYOND generous the second time. I also tried their praline and it was yummy! Overall it’s definitely worth a visit, and I’m glad we gave it a second chance. Definitely one of the best vegan spots in athens. What makes this place unique is that there’s seems to be a lot of thought in the meal composition: organic tofu, organic soy mince and gluten free pasta. This is very rare in the vegan food industry, but very important because vegans need to get enough protein from high quality foods without compromising taste and pleasure.
Rebecca — Google review
The Vegan food is fantastic and the staff are very helpful. It’s a lovely environment as well with good space and only the sound of people enjoying themselves. Decaf coffee and of course a variety of non-dairy milk options. My first food stop when I’m in Athens.

Was blown away to have a full GF/Vegan menu (and for each item to be so handfully crafted and tasty). Highly recommend not only for those with dietary restrictions, but anyone looking for a wonderful meal!

We went here for a delicious smoothie! I had the white smoothie and my wife had the yellow smoothie. The white smoothie was nice and creamy due to the cashews. My wife’s smoothie was slightly less sweet, but still tasty. €7.50 is quite pricey for a smoothie, but it was delicious. The food options on the menu look great as well. There are lots of places to sit inside or outside.

I’ve gone to Veganaki twice so far on my visit to Athens and it’s been amazing both times. Prices are amazing for the fresh, delicious, and healthy food you are getting. One morning I ordered a small portion of their avocado salad and also their breakfast omelet. The vegan “feta” that came on the side of the omelet was so good. For dinner i ordered their salad that had fig, feta, and mushrooms definitely one of my favorite things i had as well as the souvlaki wrap with tempeh and I ordered side of the fava beans.
Tasha S — Google review
Server was very friendly and attentive. There’s a great range of choices here for vegans. If I had the chance I would’ve revisited to work through more of the menu. Food is on the pricier side in my experience, but I’m happy to spend a bit more to support an all vegan business.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center is a modern and inspiring cultural hub in Athens. It houses the Greek National Opera and the National Library of Greece, surrounded by expansive landscaped gardens. Renzo Piano's visionary design transformed a once barren wasteland into a lush hill offering breathtaking views of the city and the Aegean Sea. The center hosts cultural performances, art exhibitions, and provides a tranquil urban oasis for visitors.
A great addition to the Athens cultural scene - and the coastline too. Marvelous park, stunning architecture. The National Library space is very welcoming, with plenty of natural light, and it was so wonderful to see it very busy. The 'living room' upstairs offers a great relaxing space with a variety of interesting books and amazing views of the city and the sea. Absolutely worth a visit!

A perfect combination of a Mediterranean garden and a world-class cultural center. An architectural milestone located in Faliron, Athens. The planted olive trees match the environment of Greece and from this location one has view of the sea. This area is used for events, book reading or simply walking. It is recommended also in summer months especially at night. What makes the building special is the modern architecture and the coherence of the design something rare in modern Greek buildings.

Upon arrival at the bus stop closest to Stavros Niarchos Park, we took a short walk and were at the pool next to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. It was indeed a sight to behold. Instead of taking the direct route via the pool to the National Library of Greece, we took the “scenic route” up to the Cultural Center – via the garden and park next to it. Once inside the garden, we noticed that there were different plants around – just like Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. There was also a huge green field which we think would be where events were held. This morning, there were some early-risers doing Yoga here... Stavros Niarchos Park is a vibrant green space located near the Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center, just south of Athens. This modern park, opened in 2015, offers landscaped walking paths, a playground, and ample room for sports and recreational activities. Despite its distance from the city center, visitors can easily reach the park via tram or a free shuttle service from Syntagma.
Approaching this building from the park in a ‘promenade to a temple’ way is breathtaking. You get to the top almost without realizing how high you are. The view of the acropolis, the coast, and other islands complete the experience. Not to mention the assured sophistication of Piano’s design in the whole building.

An incredibly beautiful park with spectacular views of Athens. Highly recommend as a place to bring your kids. Locals love it and rightly so. The architecture and the landscapeing are truly inspired.

Quite stunning park with lots of families enjoying the sunshine & flat spaces for bikes. The Cafe is very popular with lots of tables outside, more inside & a takeaway area at the front. The pool gives a sense of coolness even on a hot day.

Its a beautiful place, the library is the best section, the view to Athens its amazing and you can watch the Acropolis from there.

An architectural milestone and a wonderful park located in Faliron, Athens. The planted olive trees match the environment of Greece and the from this location one has view of the sea. This area is used for events, book reading or simply walking. It is recommended also in summer months especially at night.

Ancient Ruins
The Ancient Agora of Athens is a significant historical site located northwest of the Acropolis. It served as a meeting place for the city council and local residents, playing a pivotal role in the early days of democracy. The Stoa of Attalos, an impressive marble structure built in 159 BC, stands as a testament to its rich history. This large square was not only an administrative and political center but also a hub for cultural and commercial activities dating back to the 6th century BC.
We absolutely adored our visit to the Ancient Agora. There was plenty of space to roam around (without feeling crowded by tourists) and the Temple of Hephaestus was just stunning. We were especially in awe when we could glimpse the sun peeking through a hole in the ceiling structure — magnificent! In addition, there is a museum on-site (included). We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Ancient Agora of Athens!

This is a fabulous place to visit in Athens. It is moderately priced and quite extensive. The buildings are well preserved and the museum is quite interesting with beautiful pottery and other artifacts. On the balcony of the museum are interesting busts and below are detailed sculptures. To see the entire enclosure plan for 1-2 hours. There are steps to navigate. Bring water, although there are vending machines near the church. I highly recommend a visit.
Rodger H — Google review
The park is big enough that even with a few groups of people milling about, it felt like my wife and I were on our own. 100% would recommend. If you find a good bench, you can enjoy the peace and quiet. While enjoying the beautiful views of the acropolis. The archeological sites is beautiful as well. The museum is included in the ticket and is a short walk through. The Temple of Hephaistos is my highlight for sure! Watch out for the wildlife👀

We visited the Ancient Agora on the first Sunday of November, so entry was free! I’d recommend using the audio guide to truly appreciate the rich history behind the ruins. The site offers amazing photo points of the Acropolis and is just a short walk from Thissio station — the main entrance is on that side. Don’t miss the Temple of Hephaestus and the Stoa of Attalos museum inside. Wear comfy shoes and carry water, as there’s quite a bit of walking. We even spotted several turtles roaming around the site — our kids had so much fun watching them! There are lovely cafés and the Athinaion Park just outside, perfect for a relaxing break after exploring. A peaceful, family-friendly place where you can really feel the ancient spirit of Athens. Definitely worth spending half a day or more here!
Parul A — Google review
This was a great experience! The whole territory, not just the temple. You can refill you water bottle, use bathrooms - for me it's always important that a site has well maintained facilties. And not so many people. Since we couldn't get into the Acropolis top (because of the ticketing system and unavailability to buy tickets on site), this place was actually even better at the end. And with the great views. Just a small note - the church on site is closed.
Nate W — Google review
Well worth a visit. It houses the only intact preserved ancient temple- the Temple of Hephaestus. There is also a well maintained, modern museum with interesting displays and insightful information. It is a great way to soak up some of Ancient Greece without the crowds you get at the Parthenon. The reason I only gave it 4-stars is I felt the entrance fee of €20 per person was a bit steep.
Deb B — Google review
Athens is all about ancient ruins and this is definitely worth the visit! Lots of cats and turtles which made it even more fun to visit. There is a museum built in the style of what was suspected to have been the original building full of ancient artifacts. Very neat experience! And of course the temple that is neatly intact! I suggest buying tickets in advance and then you can just walk in and get your e-ticket scanned otherwise the line at the ticket booth can be quite long. Expect to spend a good couple hours here!
Lisa K — Google review
The Ancient Agora of Athens is a mesmerizing window into classical Greece, where democracy, philosophy, and trade once thrived. Walking through its ruins and the beautifully restored Stoa of Attalos, you can vividly imagine ancient Athenians debating and exchanging ideas. A truly enriching experience blending history, culture, and timeless wisdom.

We first went there for a quick dinner after the show. We ordered pasta and salmon. Both dishes were exquisite. So we went back again before leaving Athens. This time, I ordered spicy hot chocolate and small plate of goat cheese, bread and potatoes. They were delicious. The waitress was very nice, and offered us two yummy muffins, my family loved them. We’d definitely go back again if we come to Athens next time.

I think that the rating doesn’t do justice to the place. I’ve visited the restaurant multiple times and enjoyed clean, well-cooked, good quality food, good portions and nice recipes. Kind of sad they changed their old menu. The prices are a bit high for what it is, but it’s convenient and nice lunch for when you are in Niarchos. Never had an issue with the service or staff. Thanks a lot and keep it up! (Maybe bring back the pasta with chicken and metsovone cheese too!)

Service is horrendous and shameful. Just the female barista and the young female taking care of the tables are doing theirs jobs very well. The people behind the counter... Well, let's just say they're not fit for service and management at all....Never again...

1 (one) hour and 10’ waiting time for a Ceasar Salad. After asking for update, in additional 10’ we got a salad with all ingredients just out of the fridge. Maybe it was an exceptionally crowded night but you can advice in advance that there is long waiting time… Really unprofessional.

Cafe
ELLYZ Cafe Athens, located in Monastiraki, draws inspiration from the idyllic place in Greek mythology called Elysium. The cafe's decor is reminiscent of Champs-Elysee in France, with pink and purple flowers adorning the walls and ceiling, white marble tables, and velvet sofas. This Instagrammable spot features stunning floral aesthetics and neon signs that light up the neighborhood.
I have stopped there just to get an ice coffee, but was captivated there by very cozy and cool atmosphere and irresistible sweets selection. I had they special limited edition ellyz cake and it was very good, which was a very good complementary to espresso tonic. Unfortunately I had no time to explore their other options including savory dishes, but I definitely would when I am next time in Athens.

Absolutely beautiful decor - it is what made us step into this place! They have outdoor seating as well between their coffee shop and the pastry shop. The pastries and other desserts seemed so delicious! The staff is very welcoming and friendly despite the extremely busy evening rush we went in. Good place to sit outside and enjoy the vibe of the city. Would recommend this for the desserts and drinks!
Riddhi J — Google review
Ellyz Athens is one of the prettiest coffee shops in the city — full of pink flowers and charm! The desserts are amazing and so Instagram-worthy, and while the salty food is more on the simple side, it’s nicely presented and tasty. A lovely place overall
Elsa B — Google review
We were very excited to visit this cafe, and sadly we were very dissapointed with the place. To start with the place is beautiful full of flowers and decoration, we have seen prettier cafes but this one had nice decoration. The real problem with this place is the food and the prices, I felt like we were scammed because of how bad the food is and how the prices are so high. We ordered at first one pink freddo cappuccino and a pink warm cappuccino, they tasted okay the pink was only food coloring nothing special. For the dessert, it had a weird taste almost like frige taste from setting so long in the frige, it costed us almost 8€ which was definitely not worth it. It was very small with a chocolate bear on top which also tasted so bad. It was filled with only chocolate mouse. In my opinion, I will not be returning to this cafe, the only thing worth seeing is the decoration.

An Excellent Experience This place is both charming and delicious. The staff are truly outstanding attentive, warm, and clearly passionate about what they do. The service comes straight from the heart, which makes the entire visit feel very special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable experience. Breakfast is also available and absolutely worth trying.

It offers signature brunch plates such as Croque madame, pancakes, and smoothies. The atmosphere is described as cozy yet fancy, making it an ideal spot to hang out at any time of the day or night. Guests have praised the DJ's music selection and enjoyed dishes like carbonara and pasta con pollo.
We came for a brunch. We got pancakes and coffee. Pancakes had the right portion! Great taste and simple. They have very nice menu in general with some good choices. Our waitress was awesome! Overall good experience! They just need to check WC more often and keep it tidy.
Stelios A — Google review
Well I've been there early morning at 8:50. The whole place was very dirty and it was smelling gas liquidation for about 1 hour. Until a woman complained and they decided to check the heaters. The staff came at 9 they started doing the cleaning processes and preparing the place. I had first one question "Can I get a Jardin Zombie?" (One of the signature cocktails on the list). They replied with a "Yes, of course" The wait staff was looking for the bottles and the syrups for to prepare it. I interrupted them meanwhile "If you can't do it, it's okay I will change my order" Waiter replied with "No, no it's totally fine" After 10 minutes they managed to bring it on the table that was still dirty and telling me "If you don't like it, we can change it." As an experienced Bartender the cocktail was unbalanced and by far the worst I have ever tried. "I kept it for not insulting them, by seeing the waiters making another failure". When the whole place was all set while I was drinking my favourite worst cocktail. My table was still uncleaned. After a while I decided to request cleaning the table cause I wanted to eat. I ordered a Ceasar salad it took 15' to 20 minutes to arrive. Okay that was a disgrace. Definitely not a Ceasar 2 Chicken nuggets on topping with some Doritos chips for crouton. Haha... honestly It's a nice place within a great location but the lack of experience and professionalism to all members it's totally pity. Especially when I wanted to pay and I was looking for a waiter and there was none. The girl that was responsible for the table, she had most of the time her back on the floor. When I go somewhere, I'm going to observe, taste and experience at the best of the ability. I'm not requiring a top notch service but at least some professionalism. I payed after 2 business days with Cash. 26€ - 27€. I let 30€ in total without receiving a receipt. I would have tip them more in case of providing a better service, than messing around. "Can you do that?" (Answers) "Yes, No or Sorry the Bartender is coming at 11 - 12 would you like something else?" That's all. By being honest you never get misunderstood. Thank you for the experience, never again! 06/05/25.

My recent visit to Jardin All Day Stories was a mixed experience. The food, unfortunately, didn't leave a lasting impression and might benefit from some enhancements. Furthermore, there were some service hiccups, like a misunderstanding regarding my order. On a positive note, the establishment shines as an excellent option for families with kids, thanks to its spacious play areas, making it an ideal choice in that regard.

This restaurant is a great choice for a quick lunch break or a casual dinner. Located close to my workplace, it’s perfect for a fast, no-fuss meal. The service is efficient, and the food is consistently good—simple but satisfying. Prices are fair, and the atmosphere is relaxed, making it ideal for solo diners or small groups.

We’ve been there 3 times during our week end in Athens. It’s an excellent restaurant! They’ve even offered us a desert. The atmosphere is great too. Nice music. I recommend this place for sure!
Hugo W — Google review
Used to be great, now feels more like a club At first, Jardin All Day Stories was a relaxed and cozy spot with delicious food and a nice atmosphere. Over time, it has become much louder and busier, almost like a nightclub. The music is often too loud for a casual meal, and the vibe feels less welcoming for those looking to enjoy a calm dining experience. The food is still good, but the overall atmosphere has changed a lot.

Garden
The Athens National Garden is a historic park featuring native and exotic plants, as well as archaeological remains and a children's library. Situated on the south coast of Attica, it offers a peaceful atmosphere with secluded romantic corners. The garden is just one of many must-see sites in Athens, including the Acropolis, Mount Parnitha National Park, Diomidous Botanical Garden, Monastiraki Flea Market, and more.
This should be part of any tourist tour. It's hard to describe such a beautifully green space in the middle of the city. Pathways are clean and easy to walk. We had no plans going in and did not have a set time to visit. This might be the way to properly visit as we didn't rush ourselves and had time to enjoy a beer in the gardens as well. There are maps everywhere so it's almost impossible to get lost even without any knowledge of the area. Nice spot with a few animals as well, great for the kids. We entered from one end, exited on the other side, went back in and finished our tour. Definitely worth stopping by for a visit.
Francois B — Google review
While exploring Athens, I visited the National Garden. As it was a sunny Sunday, it was very popular but dealt with the crowds well, and there is plenty of space to find a quiet corner. It’s very well looked after, and features an array of beautiful trees, flowers and more. There were also a variety of animals throughout the park, including goats, a variety of birds and fish, as well as terrapins. It’s absolutely worth setting aside an hour to explore this beautifully kept garden - entry is free and there is plenty of shade to escape the heat of the day.
Joel P — Google review
If you need a break from exploring the city, Athens' National Gardens is a tranquil place to put your feet up. I spent a little time there relaxing and listening to bird song. And when you're ready to go, the Syntagma Square subway station is just a few feet away from the entrance.
JJ G — Google review
It's doing repairs on the streets nearby, so be careful. The gardens were nice quite and calming on a very busy day. I enjoyed watching the families strolling throughout the gardens.
General D — Google review
The park is large, with lot's of routes to meander through. A lot of the animal cages are empty and derelict, which gives a sad vibe of days long gone. The enormes ring necked parakeet or monk parakeet nests add to this feeling. A non domestic and invasive species that has taken over a lot of the trees in the park, see the pictures. A point of warning are the many, quick and quiet mosquitos. We wore shorts in the 25 degrees Celsius, and paid the price. We got stung more then ten times each during our walk. So... a mixed bag, not to be undertaken without some mosquito repellent. Oh yes, and the turtles... we thought the big water was were the turtles where housed originally. But they are in a very small and enclosed pond, with high walls and nowhere to go. And they have been there for at least a year, judging from the photo of Kondtantina in another review down here. They're about 50 of them, give ore take, with no plants and no room. It's a very sad sight, and in my opinion animal torture. Sorry to be so blunt about it.
Martijn V — Google review
The National Garden of Athens is a true oasis in the heart of the city – and we absolutely loved it! 🌿 It’s the perfect place to take a break from the busy streets and enjoy some peace and shade under tall trees and along beautiful walking paths. What makes it even more special for families is that it’s not just a park – it’s also great fun for kids! There are a few playgrounds, plenty of open space to run around, and even a small animal area with goats, birds, and other animals that children find fascinating. 🐐🦆 Everything is beautifully kept, and the garden feels safe, clean, and relaxing. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to sit, a fun stop for the kids, or just a scenic walk, this is a spot you shouldn’t miss while in Athens. Free to enter, easy to reach, and perfect for all ages – we highly recommend it!
Bobana P — Google review
A must visit if you're in Athens. The place is a little confusing, but just search for a map or check Google. There's only specific spots where you can enter/exit and take a look at the specific markings of the map - that's where you'll find unique sets of animals just chilling.
Paul T — Google review
Athens National Garden is spectacular. We spent a couple of hours meandering through. There are many species of trees, some really large and old. I am sure it is very beautiful in May and June with many types of flowers and bushes blooming. There is a great children's playground and library. There is a zoo type area with a few animals and lots of birds. There are many nesting parrots in the trees above this area. They have built very large communal nests. There is a pond with ducks and geese. There is also a small pool with turtles. You can also see Roman ruins and a mosaic floor that was discovered as the garden was established. You find maps throughout the park to indicate where you are. There are also benches throughout the garden. Most of the garden is shaded which is wonderful on a hot summer day. I didn't see any public restrooms.

Art Museums
The Benaki Museum, located in Piraeus Street, was once a family mansion and is now home to an extensive collection of Greek cultural artifacts spanning from prehistory to the present day. The museum offers diverse exhibits including Byzantine icons, folk art, neoclassical paintings, and Islamic art. It appeals to art enthusiasts and history lovers alike with its captivating displays. Visitors can take advantage of themed guided tours or audio guides for a deeper understanding of the collections' historical significance.
Very nice museum about greek culture. Quite many object from each time/aspect of greek culture. We enjoyed the museum. They have seasonal exhibitions which we did not see. Thursdays is entrance free. We would recommend the museum. Plan around 1,5 hours for visit if you are planning to read :)
Silvia M — Google review
Whilst the collection covers all periods of Greek history, I think the top floor is the most important, showing how Independence from Ottoman rule was made possible and the people involved. Having read the history it was a revelation to see portraits and objects from that era. An insight into the formation of Greece into a modern nation and one of the most memorable experiences in Athens.
Peter S — Google review
Had a lovely lunch and then afternoon walking around the benaki museum. The collection is absolutely stunning. One word of caution though for those with disabilities, the last floor especially is not accessible with half flights of stairs through out. The first three levels though are generally very accessible

Amazing museum. My husband & I spent 5 hours in September 2025, roaming around this museum, with so much to see & learn. Had to take a little break at the magnificent Restaurant/Cafe. From the amazingly beautiful Neo Classical building to the excellent set up & easy navigation of the museum, it was a truly wonderful experience. The staff were also extremely helpful & knowledgeable & gave us a lot of information about the museum, the displays & history. I highly recommend a visit to this museum.

Nice museum, with a rich collection. I appreciated the museography. One negative aspect. I presented my ticket at the entrance and was requested to present my ticket a second time (3rd floor) randomly in the museum for no reason except appareances I assume. I was the only one requested to do so, the other visitors were not asked. It reflects badly on the museum image.
Mery W — Google review
There is some overlap with the focus of the National Archaeological Museum (which is impossible to compete with), but mostly the Benaki Museum shows much more recent Greek history and culture through architecture and fashion. The reconstructed interiors (there are two large ones and one small one) seem to be the only exhibits which hold the visitors' attention. It is really very expensive for approx. 20 minutes of stimulation.
Graham B — Google review
A very interesting museum with a great collection that spans from ancient Greece to modern times. The exhibits are well laid out and engaging. Unfortunately, the staff were not friendly. I tried asking for help twice, but the same staff member was on her phone both times, looked at me, and laughed, very unprofessional. I ended up leaving early because of this. The café upstairs was also disappointing. As a non-Greek visitor, I felt ignored, and it took over 30 minutes just to get an orange juice. Where as other people got helped immediately.

The National Library of Athens is a neoclassical building from the early 19th century. The building has been relocated to a new site and is now closed to the public, but it is still an impressive sight. The library contains books and manuscripts related to Greek culture, and is worth visiting if you're in Athens.
National Library of Greece ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A truly magnificent place to visit! 📚 The National Library of Greece is an architectural gem with a rich history. The building itself is stunning, with its grand columns and beautiful interiors. 🏛️ It’s a peaceful place to explore, whether you’re a book lover or simply appreciate Greek culture 🇬🇷 Highly recommend visiting if you’re in Athens! 👌
Ugo S — Google review
Looks beautiful but it’s closed, has been since December 2023 (I’m visiting in October 2024) apparently due to the interior ceiling of the reading room caving in. You wouldn’t think it’d take 10+ months to fix a ceiling. It’s a shame because there’s hardly anywhere in Athens centre to sit peacefully and read.

We have visited Athens several times over the past few years and keep coming back to see History. And also lots of good food places all around. Well preserved usually self guide tour using Google maps and my research. Easy to walk to most of the famous sites. We passed by the national library on our tour and stopped to take some pics of this beautiful building. Did not go inside this time.

The grounds are home to junkies. While there we saw drug deals and someone get mugged. Didn’t feel very safe here!
Jon H — Google review
Did not have the chance to go inside as i was touring on a sunday and everything closes there on sunday, but from the outside it looked great, a great ode to the ancient greek architecture !

Beautiful architecture! Love the columns and stairs leading up.
Emptynesters T — Google review
It is a really nice library. The staff is so nice and friendly. The front door is now closed due to not enough staff things. When the front door is closed, you may go to the entrance exactly located at the back of the building. If you were looking for the new modern one, it isn't and that is the library near the coast line. However, if you have registered as a user in this library, you can also use the service of that library too.

The Temple of Olympian Zeus, a vast ancient temple dedicated to Zeus, was built in the 6th century B.C. on the site of an outdoor sanctuary. Located near the Acropolis, the area is surrounded by olive and pine trees, offering a serene environment with pathways and cobblestone streets for runners and joggers.
My favorite experience in Athens. The view is unbeatable surrounded by the ocean. You can feel the spirit of Poseidon. The view of the temple ruins is like none other great atmosphere beautiful place. I highly recommend it while visiting Athens.

Simply amazing to see this place. Athens is full of culture, great cafes, great coffee cafes, and of course the history. The walk up was a bit of a struggle but once on the top the views were amazing. Highly recommend this as a place to see.
Doug B — Google review
Waste of money. Embarrassingly poor quality of experience for either the tourist that wants to try to understand the history, or the more experienced historian. Zeus, the father of Athena, and therefore Athens, deserves so much more reverence, explanations, context, basic efforts to help visitors. The information when you do get any is really scant, and doesn't help you understand the current philosophy for preserving and restoring the site. You might as well stand at Hadrian's gate, take a few photos and save the 20 euros for the entry - you are really only missing out on section after section of roped off stones. Yes, there is a free information QR code, it's so bad. Yes, there are QR codes next to stones, didn't work, and that's assuming your camera can read them - some are very distant behind barriers. There are buildings, one with a frieze and sign saying 'place of relief' - is that a joke? What is it? There are buildings, even tell of a mosaic, who knows, there was a black and white drawing. I could go on. This is an approach to displaying antiquity that is in itself ancient, lazy and half arsed. Take the free photo opp and move on, go up the road to the Panathenaeic site, now that is brilliant.
Jaime T — Google review
We really liked seeing this ancient structure from outside the gates, didn't pay to get in. You can see everything from outside the gates, that you would pay to see up close. Either way a very beautiful site, a must see if first time in Athens.
Sami S — Google review
Very cool place to visit. Not nearly as crowded as the Acropolis, but there is a lot less to see. We did have trouble accessing the QR codes that were being used for the self-guided tour however, but they did have some very informative signs that we could use as well.
David V — Google review
If mythology/history has a lot meaning and you are mostly there to know about history of these rocks and ruins you should go and check the place otherwise I wouldn't recommend going, for me it's ruins where u can not explore anything because it is prohibited to go near everything. Waste of time and money, but if u have good camera you can take nice shots with pillars and acropolis together. p.s official website says different price for tickets and if u buy ticket at that place it costs different price, also opening hours are different on website and irl.

The scale and size of this place is awe inspiring! An must visit during any visit to Athens. Only €5 to enter and definitely worth it
Phil W — Google review
It was mostly obscured by the restoration efforts but still worth a visit. Lots of other history in the park. Good selfie spot and I mean…ya gotta go, right? Also buy the combined ticket that includes this and several other sites. Save yourself some money.

Restaurant
Kapetan Michalis, located at 3 Feidiou Street in the heart of Athens, offers a nostalgic experience reminiscent of an old navy tavern from the 1950s. The restaurant exudes a bohemian atmosphere and serves fresh fish along with perfect meatballs that are a must-try. With no menus, the waiter personally informs guests about available dishes and drinks, creating an authentic dining experience.
A great little place for a quick meal- we enjoyed simple home cook style good quality food - we had meatballs, bacalau, fried sardines and incredibly delicious chickpeas. Great wine too! Thank you we will come back
Liv W — Google review
Very good greek food. A small hole in the wall but with superb flavor. We had the greek salad: super fresh and flavorful, the meatballs: just amazing, the anchovies: which were delicious and I dont even like small fried fish. The sausage and fried cheese was amazing, too. We came back a 2nd time before departing from Greece.

A classic! Located in an alley that is full of energy and youth vibes! Meatballs, saganaki, and roasted pork is a must!

Simple typical food in great atmosphere. This place is perfect to drink a beer with greek food. Price is good, terrace is cosy and the food was tasty. I highly recommended.

Managed by an older couple who are attentive and kind. Fried shrimp were simple and delicious. Ambience and Greek salad are perfected here.

Bar
Jazz In Jazz is a classic bar that opened in 1996, offering a unique jazzy vibe with walls adorned with jazz memorabilia. The cozy spot plays a broad variety of jazz and occasionally hosts live gigs. Situated in the upmarket Kolonaki neighborhood, this speakeasy-style bar established in 1978 provides a nostalgic ambiance with vintage decor and offers quality drinks while enjoying a soundtrack spanning various jazz genres.
Great Jazz bar. Unfortunately no live music. One of the best Old Fashion’s I had. Very enjoyable
Marat N — Google review
Nice jazz bar in the quiet part of Kolonaki. Mistakenly, I went there expecting to enjoy some live music -- the place is what is says it is, a bar, perfectly styled for the Jazz with some nice music playing and a good selection of well-made cocktails available. On the night I visited, the place was crowded mostly with locals, so I assume the bar is well-liked among those who know how to avoid tourist traps of Athens. The gentleman pictured is a bartender, who has volunteered to pose for an image.
Sasha A — Google review
Very cool place for something a little different in Athens. It was super busy when are got there around 10 PM on a Saturday, and we were lucky to find a spot to sit. Nice drinks and a good mix of people.
Amy E — Google review

The bar’s cozy ambiance, enhanced by dim lighting and tasteful decor, creates a welcoming atmosphere perfect for both intimate gatherings and lively conversations. The extensive whiskey selection caters to all palates, featuring a diverse range of options from well-known classics to rare finds. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or exploring whiskey for the first time, the knowledgeable bartenders are eager to guide you through the menu. Their passion for whiskey is evident as they share insights into the history and nuances of each pour, elevating your tasting experience. Beyond the impressive drink offerings, the staff’s friendliness and expertise contribute significantly to the bar’s inviting vibe. Their willingness to engage and educate patrons about whiskey ensures that every visit is both enjoyable and informative. In summary, Jazz In Jazz stands out not only for its remarkable whiskey collection but also for its warm ambiance and dedicated team, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a memorable whiskey experience in Athens.

Almost a speak easy. This bar is outstanding: the staff are friendly, the drinks are first class. It comes alive after 8:30pm. Order the El Presidente cocktail.
Dimitri A — Google review
Great music! Great team running the place! Tight seating which is a feature here. Pleasant drinks with rare choices (loved the chartreuse). A tad on the expensive side though but remember this is Kolonaki. Love the no smoking indoors rule. Absolutely recommended!
Philip T — Google review
Nice atmosphere with good jazz music, amazing decorations and the best classic cocktails. My favorite was old fashioned and I can say it was the best one I’ve tried in Athens. The service was fast and quality for sure. The staff was friendly and talented. I went there on Monday and it was crowded, if you wanna sit down you should make a reservation.

HIDDEN GEM 💎 Cozy jazz bar with classic cocktails and great decor. Playing jazz all night so the mood is always right. Stop by for a drink after dinner. Although it’s not live jazz they play all the best jazz so it’s just as good:)

Vegetarian restaurant
Vegan restaurant
Avocado is a newly opened vegan restaurant located conveniently near Syntagma and Plaka in Nikis street. Created by the people behind NYSY Studios, it offers a variety of tasty veggie snacks, meals, and healthy drinks inspired by the slow food movement. The menu includes local and exotic fruit and vegetable juices, fresh salads, soups, Mediterranean-inspired specialties like vegan pizza, as well as Indian and East Asian influences.
I enjoyed my lunch with my wife very much. The food was great. We started with the Greek sun. As I'm vegan and my wife isn't, we ordered the cheese on the side. The salad was fresh and tasty. With the salad, we also ordered the crispy tofu. It wasn't that crispy but still tasty with a fairly hot and spicy sauce (at least it was hot for us, but we liked it). For the main courses we ordered the protein burger and warm heart dishes to share. My wife said she's pretty full and didn't think she would eat the burger. But it was so good that she couldn't put it away. The warm heart was the least favorite dish. Just OK. As a vegan or felt like being a kid in a candy store so I just had to order dessert. I went with the key lime pie as the chocolate one seemed too heavy after all we ate. The dessert was great. I would recommend everyone, not just vegans, to come. I'm sure you won't be disjointed.

Avocado is a fantastic spot for anyone looking for delicious vegetarian and vegan food in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The menu is full of creative, flavorful dishes — but the real standout for me was the burger. Incredibly tasty, perfectly seasoned, and so satisfying! Highly recommended for both plant-based eaters and curious foodies.

The experience worthwhile, the food was oosum! We ordered 2 fresh smoothies - açaí berry blast, coconut cream and 1 fresh juice - apple lemonade along with Poke bowl, Greek Salad, Protein Burger & Avocado Burger 🍔 It was totally yummy & filling. The staff were extremely helpful & took good care. The ambience was soothing and had great vibes 🤩👌

Decided to have something a little healthier and our host recommended Avocado. Vegan food can sound unappealing, but this place knows how to add flavour and texture to make really great meals. We had the poke bowl and the macro plate yum! We had water, but decided to be adventurous (for us) and try the Pimento spicy ginger drink - very refreshing.

A must try for every vegan visiting Athens. We loved everything about this place, and the food was divine.

Probably the best Greek salad I’ve had!! Lovely staff, the interior is very peaceful and staff are lovely. Loads of gluten free options also

Really lovely place! Fantastic gluten free options and choices. Really great food, lovely service and overall just a brilliant place to eat. I recommend especially for those who are veggie / gluten free / like to eat real good organic food! There’s a great wee organic store next door too!

We are here twice during our time in Athens. A cozy little place, close to our hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and although it was a little overpriced, it was worth it for the vegan food!! We had the spicy tofu, pumpkin soup, Om Shanti bowl and then we tried the key lime pie one time as well. Simply delicious! Highly recommended-
