The Delphi Archaeological Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the ancient site of Delphi. Just a short stroll from the archaeological ruins, this museum was established in the early 20th century to showcase an impressive collection of artifacts unearthed during excavations. Visitors can marvel at architectural sculptures, pottery, and inscriptions that date back as far as the 15th century BC. The exhibits provide fascinating insights into ancient Greek religion, art, and daily life in Delphi.
A wonderful little museum. The rich history of the site is well displayed in an ordered museum. We visited on a Wednesday at about midday. The museum was very busy, in particular the tour groups which whizzed through were cramming the whole place up. These should really be limited in size. Some really great pieces are in the museum and we both really enjoyed it. Highly recommended.
Drew Y — Google review
Really incredible visit. The views are top notch and the entire site is exquisite to visit and learn about. We were nervous about the time to drive up from Athens, but we hired a driver for the day and it was worth every bit of the cost. Not only a driver, but guiding us along the drive and pointing us in the right direction once at the site. Worth doing, don’t drive yourself and I’d avoid the massive tour buses. Very much worth a visit all around. Do the site first and museum second. Bring water and be prepared for hills.
Alexander W — Google review
Wonderful museum and archeological site closed to the modern village of Delphi. The museum has wonderful artifacts but is not overpoweringly large. There is a good flow through the development of Delphi as a sacred site and it's demise before being restored by the Romans. The archilogical site is deceptively large, winding a long way up the mountainside. Allow at least 90 minutes to see the whole site. Cafe at museum ticket office serves good coffee and sandwiches. The shop is a bit twee but has some interesting items. Main downside of the site is the toilets. There is nowhere near enough for the volume of visitors and the inevitable queues and lack of cleanliness are quite offputiing. Much better to take the short walk into a taverna in the village, and probably as quick
Graham P — Google review
Delphi was absolutely breathtaking — one of the highlights of my trip to Greece. The combination of stunning mountain views, ancient ruins, and peaceful atmosphere makes it a truly special place. Walking through the archaeological site, you can really feel the history and imagine what it must have been like thousands of years ago. The Temple of Apollo, the ancient theater, and the stadium are incredible to see up close, and the museum adds great context with beautifully preserved artifacts. Everything is well organized and easy to explore, and the scenery surrounding the site is simply majestic — it feels almost spiritual.
Arash — Google review
Lots to see, varying degrees of difficulty great for individuals with wide range of physical capabilities, and must have a good knowledgeable guide to bring the site to life. Little known fact, a landslide in the last few years has made the area around and access to the Athena temple a restricted no entry area. However, there are plenty of amazing views and spaces to rest in the shade that allows you to soak it all up.
Dana E — Google review
Delphi and the museum are just wonderful. There really is something special about the site and the museum is concise and has great information about the history of the area and more. Definitely worth the visit! My only drawback was the very expensive cafe at the museum - I bought a half a tiny pizza that was tasty but somewhat dry and far, far too costly.
Franco F — Google review
It's located right next the archaeological site of accient Delphi. It is one of the most significant museums in Greece. It's collections offer an invaluable window in to yhe religious political history of Delphi, the sanctuary of the Oracle of Apollo.

Museum
The Museum of Delphic Festivals, also known as the Angelos and Eva Sikelianos Museum, is a charming collection dedicated to commemorating Hellenic culture and reviving the ancient Pythian Games. The museum showcases exhibits related to the festivals celebrated by poet Aggelos Sikelianos and his wife in their former home, which now serves as the museum.
Very nice exhibits in a modern and well maintained museum. Price is included with archaeological side.
Iacovos F — Google review
Closed at 11am+. Good view from there though.

The museum and archaeological site were both very nice. Unfortunately, all of the staff we encountered were very unfriendly and rude. First, one employee accused me of touching a display case when I placed my hand on a regular wall next to the case. Then I witnessed another employee giving a young man a hard time when he tried to have a picture taken of himself making a silly pose. She called him strange and said that sort of thing wasn't allowed. When we finally got to the gift shop, the staff decided they wanted to close early and brusquely asked us to leave.

Very small museum, but nice. Do not confuse this with the Delphi Archeological Museum. Several of the pictures and reviews reference the big museum down the road. For instance, unless you work there, I see no way possible to spend 2 hours as one reviewer reported.

Nice museum. Objects found in nearby site are displayed, needs to be seen to complete the journey to Delphi. Takes about 2 hours to visit thoroughly.

The Athenian Treasury

4.8
(330)
Historical landmark
The Athenian Treasury is an ancient marble structure located at the Temple of Apollo in Delphi. It is the best-preserved treasury among others, showcasing monuments and gifts from victorious city-states. The construction dates back to 510-480 BCE, dedicated by Athenians to commemorate their triumph over the Persians. Positioned along the Sacred Way leading to the temple and oracle of Apollo, it housed votive offerings. The partially reconstructed treasury provides insight into its function as a display for these gifts.
The Athenians built the Treasury most probably after 490 B.C. in order to thank the god Apollo for their victory at the battle of Marathon.
Ивайло Б — Google review
The most complete monument from ancient greek times still stands! Amazing.
Pak-Ming W — Google review
Although info says it closes at 8pm ( changes depending on time year) the staff will be herding you out at least a 1/2 hour before closing so do not come late. Give at least 2 hours to see it all, more if want to spend much time in the museum.
Dave P — Google review
Can be found along the Sacred Way leading up to the Temple of Apollo within the Delphi Archeological Site. It is used to house offerings for Apollo. Some restoration seems to have been made, but the original structure still looked pretty intact. There’s a small platform in front of the Treasury for viewing the mountains opposite the Delphi site as well.
Nahshon — Google review
The Athenian Treasury is standing. Nice to see more or less how it looked like before. I believe it’s been restored due to the presence of lighter color blocks
Maria K — Google review
Most opulent cash stash By the Athenians out of “treasuries” out there. A truly famous historical location with breathtaking views.
T C — Google review
The Treasury of the Athenians had enough of its original building material preserved to allow for its almost complete reconstruction. Designed to hold the multitude of Athenian offerings to the Delphi oracle. The building was constructed entirely of Parian marble and had a Doric frieze decorated with 30 metopes. To the left of the treasury, in a highly visible triangular area the Athenians displayed the actual spoils from the battle of Marathon. A large inscription at its front described what the visitors were witnessing: "The Athenians to Apollo from the spoils of the Persians at the Battle of Marathon."
Stoyanka I — Google review
This structure was used as an offering to the Pythia, the high priestess by the Athenians. Much of it is in tact with parts of it restored. It sits close to the temple of Apollo. You will not miss it as you are coming up the complex towards the temple. There are panels describing the treasury and its significance.

The Temple of Apollo in Delphi, Greece, is a remarkable ancient structure dedicated to the god Apollo. Despite its current state of ruins, the temple's grandeur is still evident through its massive Doric columns and expansive foundation. The site offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and archaeological area. Delphi itself holds UNESCO World Heritage status and was once a prominent center for Greek city states to present votive offerings.
It’s a fantastic place. You can really feel the energies here. The ancient temples, the location itself, and the view are breathtaking. It fills you with good energy. A short meditation around the temple is wonderful. The whole place is in such a beautiful setting. The nearby town has very nice hotels and restaurants.

Worth the money and the trip. Gorgeous ruins and views. Very informative museum along the site. You might wanna go around morning or afternoon to avoid high noon sun.
Alex M — Google review
It is humbling to see how advanced the ancient Greek were, compared with the rest of Europe. A really impressive site to visit. The walk to the stadium is quite a climb. (Not hard, just exhausting in warm weather) If you really want to see it, go for it. It is beautiful. I would surely recommend getting a top view from the theatre, to really see how big the site is. Also, dont forget to visit the museum. Perhaps visit the museum first. And remember the statues you see there. A lot of pieces of the puzzle will fall in to place at the site. As you can hardly imagine how things would have looked
Jelle — Google review
The site itself is relatively compact and, to further that feeling, when we visited the Athena part of the monument was temporarily closed. The space is well kept, and even or a rainy day the site was still very accessible with no security concerns due to slippery terrains. The temple of Apollo was amazing and everything from top to bottom was stunning, especially in context with the rest of the remnants like the treasury and the market. Didn’t have time to visit the museum, however, I still found it very much enjoyable and interesting.
João C — Google review
An unforgettable experience. After visiting the museum we climbed the hill up to Apollo's temple. The place has a certain atmosphere, which cuts through even when the huge tour groups rumble through each area. If you have any interest in the Oracle you must come to see this magical place. Ask Apollo for advice at his temple, which is the centre of the universe, and wait for a sign. The views are stunning and the only negative is I wished it hadn't been so busy. Perhaps try to visit at a quieter time of year. Highly recommended.

A great place to visit some ruins. Beautiful. Striking. Imposing. Impressive. They’re in the process to add a cafe by the entrance. A few cats that are hungry, they come to visits expectedly for food.
Irene E — Google review
The famous Temple of Apollo at the Delphi archaeological site, located between the beautiful town of Arachova and the modern village of Delphi, is absolutely worth visiting and highly recommended. The place where the temple stands feels magical—you can truly connect with the surrounding nature. There’s something special about the mountains, the golden-yellow flowers scattered everywhere, and the lush green trees. A helpful tip: be prepared for plenty of walking. It’s like an easy hike up to the upper part of the site, where you’ll find a stunning ancient stadium and breathtaking views.
Huda S — Google review
Very nice area on the top side of a mountain with a nice view. A lot of history here and informational plaques. There’s also plenty of staff around the help keep things moving and answer any questions. Would recommend taking a trip out here if your looking for places near Athens to explore

The Ancient Theater of Delphi

4.9

Historical landmark
The Ancient Theater of Delphi is a place of grandeur, nestled between the Phaedriades cliffs and Mt. Profitis Ilias. The view from the theater is breathtaking, with incredible acoustics that enhance the experience. It's recommended to purchase tickets in advance, especially if visiting between 10 am and 2 pm. The official government website Odysseus offers ticket purchases with designated entry times.
It was a lovely experience visiting the archaeological site and the museum. There is also a souvenir shop and cafe near the museum. The exhibition in the museum was easy to follow, informative and English texts were available. Unfortunately no audio guide was available. The archaeological site was interesting to visit though you need some imagination. Visiting the site and museum can take around 2.5 hours. Ticket costed 12 euros per adult. An improvement idea is to offer VR 3D experience for enthusiasts so you can immerse yourself in the experience and get a real-life feeling of those awesome buildings. Audio guide was not available which can be appreciated.

This ancient theatre built up in the mountains is truly a beautiful site to see. Just imagine watching a live play here back in the ancient times would’ve been a magical experience. You can visit this site using your general entrance pass to the archeological site as well.

Enjoyed the small hike up the mountain to see all the ancient sites of Delphi. The museum was also included. The facility was very clean and informative. The staff was well versed in the history of Delphi.

The Theatre of Delphi sits just above the Temple of Apollo and offers one of the most breathtaking views in the sanctuary, overlooking the valley of the Pleistos. Built in the 4th century BC and later expanded in Roman times, it could seat around 5,000 spectators. Here, musical and dramatic contests of the Pythian Games were held, honoring Apollo not only as an oracle but also as the god of music and poetry. Walking up to the theatre takes some effort, but the reward is standing in a place where ancient crowds once gathered, with the temple below and the mountains all around. For me it’s one of the most atmospheric spots in Delphi – part history, part landscape, and completely unique
César F — Google review
Parking: There is a car park and also plenty of parking spots available on the side of the road. Opening hours (all sites): the museum shuts early on some days so be aware of that when planning. Walking: The theater, stadium, Apollo’s temple etc require some walking so wear comfortable shoes. The site location: The museum, the theater (and other sites on that side of the hill) and the temple of Athena are a few hundred meters walk from each other, you can either walk across to each or if it’s not so busy on the road then park by each location. Ticket prices: are 12e each and the museum entry is included in the price. Toilets: No toilets up on the hill where the temple of Apollo, theater etc are (not down by the tholos of Athena, so be aware of that before making the walk up. Museum: The museum is relatively small but has a lot of items to check out. It can take 20min-1h to see all depending on your pace. This is a must visit if you have the time when in Greece, it’s 2.5-3h drive from Athens but totally worth it. Weather: Visiting in April was good because it wasn’t too hot yet. 20ish degrees. It’s outside and mainly exposed to if you’re visiting on the summer or hot times then bring sun protection. Accommodation: There are hotels within 5min driving distance and most of them are good quality. I stayed at Nidimos in Delphi center.

In Delphi Restaurant offers exceptional food, with meat dishes that are particularly outstanding. The desserts and even the orange juice are described as heavenly. The owner is known for being a nice person, adding to the welcoming atmosphere of the place. Despite some initial skepticism due to mixed reviews, visitors have been pleasantly surprised by the hospitality, delicious food, and reasonable prices. The service is quick, polite, and multilingual.
I had the pleasure of dining at this charming restaurant not once, but twice today — and every bite was unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with warmth and genuine hospitality. Special thanks to Marius, whose friendly conversation and attentive service made us feel truly looked after. The food? Simply divine. We indulged in perfectly grilled fish and tender squid, followed by mouthwatering chicken and pork souvlaki. The grilled vegetables were bursting with flavor, and the dessert was the perfect sweet finish — so good I found myself licking my fingers in delight. Huge appreciation to the chef for cooking everything to absolute perfection! The ambiance is just as impressive as the food. Tables nestled under the trees create a romantic, tranquil atmosphere that makes you want to linger. Whether you're visiting Delphi or just passing through, this restaurant is a must-stop. Relaxing, delicious, and full of heart — don’t miss it.

We had a wonderful experience at In Delphi! The food was absolutely delicious – we tried the moussaka, stuffed eggplant, and finished with halva for dessert, which was kindly offered to us as a gift. Everything was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. The atmosphere was warm and authentic, making the whole evening even more enjoyable. Highly recommended – we will definitely come back! 2 person about 25€ each. Total 50€

I am so happy we stopped by this restaurant on our visit in Delphi. We ordered the salad “in Delphi” which was my favorite salad in Greece! I highly recommend if you’re looking for alternative to traditional Greek salad. We also ordered the stuffed tomatoes, spaghetti bolognese and spaghetti in Greco. Both of the spaghettis were fantastic! They were served al dente, piping hot but cooked to perfection. You can tell they take pride in their dishes here. They have the best tasting pastas we’ve tried so far! Don’t forget dessert, we had the orange cake and the Mille-feuille which was recommended by the waiter. Both of these recommendations were a hit! I normally would not order orange cake, but their orange cake is so tasty and the dough is delicious. I am confident you will find a dish you love here, yamas!

We had dinner at In Delphi Restaurant and it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip to Delphi. The food was delicious — everything tasted fresh and homemade, especially the lamb and the appetizers. If you’re in Delphi, don’t think twice — this is the place to eat!

We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant and so glad that we happened to stumble upon it. Definitely our favorite meal in Greece so far! Standouts for us was the Salad in Delphi, Greco Pasta, Orange Cake, and Mille-Feuille. I saw someone else said “the owners of the restaurant really pride themselves on their food” and I couldn’t agree more. It’s clear that they care about the presentation and taste. Seriously do yourself a favor and dine here!

The Tholos of Athena Pronaia is an ancient Greek temple located at the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia, dating back to the 4th century BCE. The site features a well-preserved tholos, or rotunda, often mistaken by tourists as the location of the Pythia, priestess of Apollo. Pilgrims would traditionally begin their visit here before proceeding to the Temple of Apollo.
It’s absolutely incredible!! Start at the Kastalian Spring and then come here before venturing up the sacred way. If you do that, you’ll be following the same path that pilgrims to the oracles would have taken thousands of years ago!
Jed T — Google review
My visit to the Tholos of Athena Pronaia was truly captivating. The circular temple, even in its ruined state, exudes a profound sense of history and architectural grace. Standing there, amidst the remnants of its Doric and Ionic columns, it's easy to imagine the grandeur it once possessed. The setting against the backdrop of the Delphi landscape is breathtaking, adding to the spiritual and aesthetic experience. It's a place that invites contemplation about ancient Greek civilization and its enduring legacy. A definite highlight of any trip to Delphi!
Arch S — Google review
Our visit to the Tholos of Athena Pronaia was a peaceful and captivating experience that offered a unique contrast to the main Delphi Archaeological Site. This ancient sanctuary, a short drive from the central Delphi site, is nestled within Greece's beautiful, rugged landscape, bringing a sense of serenity to those who venture here. After our time exploring the Delphi Archaeological Site and Museum, we headed towards the Tholos. Arriving at around 14:00, we parked alongside the road close to the entrance, finding it conveniently accessible. A few road signs pointed us in the right direction, and the main entrance, marked by a railing, provided a helpful landmark. We came prepared with water bottles, as the summer sun was intense, making hydration essential for a comfortable experience. The path leading to the Tholos has a rustic charm, winding through patches of dirt and cobblestone that add to the site’s ancient character. The walk was enjoyable, but those with mobility challenges should be mindful, as the terrain can be uneven. As we reached the Tholos, we were greeted by the serene beauty of the circular structure surrounded by olive trees and green grape bushes. The contrast between this quiet grove and the grandeur of Delphi’s main sanctuary was striking, making this site feel almost like a hidden sanctuary. The Tholos itself is an impressive piece of ancient Greek architecture, featuring Doric columns on the outer ring and Corinthian columns within. Dedicated to Athena, this circular temple stands as a testament to the refined craftsmanship of the Greeks, showcasing their ability to balance artistry with spiritual reverence. Standing amidst these columns, one can imagine the rituals and reverence that once filled this place. Entry to the Tholos of Athena Pronaia is completely free, and the site is open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., allowing ample time to fit it into a day of exploring Delphi. This spot is a must-visit for anyone in the area, offering a unique, quieter perspective on ancient Greek spirituality and a tranquil place to reflect amidst stunning surroundings. We wholeheartedly recommend making the trip to experience this gem firsthand.
Carlos R — Google review
The site is not open summer of 2025 due to rockfall concerns. Can be seen at a distance from the Delphi Archaeological site.
Jill P — Google review
The path is fairly short but steep at times. Probably best to avoid it if you have mobility difficulty. While there aren't many structures the view from the valley at this point is stunning.
Matthew B — Google review
Make sure not to miss!!! It's a little hidden away and farther up the road than the Delphi Archaeological Museum but it's a great stop. When we went there wasn't any persons there but to walk along the tholos was breathtaking. It's not as preserved as some of the other ruined but still very interesting and unique. Well worth the 15-20min stop needed to walk around.

Visited March 2024 The Oracle location was closed when we went and no one was able to view it. You still can see it from the top of the ridge and we got a few photos.

From the glory days of this complex not much left but the original blocks and stone are still there just there is no money to complete the rebuild of the place and it is such a shame . Originally there were 5 buildings . 2 temples of Athena , two treasury buildings and a building for the armory . Now there is only one monument left which was partially reconstructed . It looks amazing nonetheless. We should spend money to preserve such incredible places no matter the costs .

Oracle of Delphi

Nestled in the heart of Greece, the Oracle of Delphi stands as a testament to ancient civilization and spirituality. This revered sanctuary was once a bustling hub for pilgrims seeking wisdom from Pythia, the High Priestess of Apollo. Visitors are treated to stunning views of majestic mountains that frame this historical site, making it not only an archaeological wonder but also a feast for the eyes. Despite its popularity among tourists—especially during peak seasons—the allure of exploring such well-preserved ruins is undeniable.
It was quite mystical and the view was beautiful. I could only only imagine how it used to look before it was in ruins.

I visited Delphi recently and the view is absolutely breathtaking—you can feel the mythology almost alive around you. 🏛️ The ancient gymnasium ruins next to the Athena Pronaia sanctuary are currently closed for restoration, along with the Oracle itself, so you can only see them from the road. There’s no point trying to get closer—the best vantage point is right near the museum. The panoramic views from there are spectacular. We even spotted real tortoises 🐢 quietly wandering nearby—a charming surprise!

Historical landmark
The Ancient Gymnasium of Delphi is a significant archaeological site in Greece, dating back to the 4th century BC. It consists of two gymnasium complexes, along with changing rooms and baths. The site offers stunning views and holds great historical importance as the religious center of ancient Greece in the 6th century B.C. The energy and positive vibes at Delphi are palpable, making it a must-see destination for history enthusiasts.
A short walk from the Delphi archeological site. Do not forget to take a little road that gives you a bird eye view of the site. From town, it will take twenty minutes but a pleasant walk.

Delphi was the religious centre of the ancient Greek world in the 6th century B.C. The archaeological site reflected the history and grandeur of Delphi in ancient Greece and is well worth a visit. The Gymnasium dated back to the 4th century BC and not only included 2 gymnasium complexes but also changing rooms and baths.

Not much to see. I only looked from above, didn't go closer, not even sure if you can enter; it was too rainy to check on that. The views are stunning nonetheless. And if you remind yourself that thousands of years ago there was a gym and people were right there... It's unbelievable and amazing!

It seems that this one is not open to public, but we could still view it from the top. It’s so grand and amazing.

Castalian Spring

Spring
Castalian Spring, located at the foot of Mt Panassos near Delphi, is a sacred site where ancient travelers would purify themselves before entering the sanctuary. It was a place for athletes to wash their hair and for those seeking absolution to bathe their entire bodies. Although the old bath house is now in ruins, just 100m away sits a small stone spout dispensing fresh spring water that visitors can collect in bottles.
An old bath house at the foot of Mt Panassos. Not much to look at as it is in a ruined state now. However, just 100m towards the town of Delphi sits a small stone spout dispensing fresh spring water. Grab a water bottle or two of this as it is potable, crisp and cool. Definitely something you can take away from this place apart from the experience.
Jia F — Google review
Not much to look at, but the cold water splashed on the back of the neck after walking down is heavenly on a hot day.
J.B. S — Google review
Small spring where you can “purify” yourself before reaching the ancient archaeological site of Delphi, as the ancients did so long ago. Small and quaint, can spend a few minutes here between the archaeological sites.

Historical place
Castalia Spring, an ancient Greek spring located at the base of the Phaedriades cliffs in Delphi, was a sacred site where pilgrims would cleanse themselves before entering the temple to seek the aid of Apollo. The spring's drinkable water was believed to have purifying properties and played a significant role in religious ceremonies and athletic competitions, including the Pythian Games held every four years.
Place with great importance in ancient times. The spring is still running today and you can wash and drink like ancient Greeks did. That's amazing if you think it for a moment
Θοδωρής Γ — Google review
I can't even begin to tell you about this place, not specifically for the place as to the meaning of this holly fountain. The fountain where the wonders began to take place. Search for the legend, it's worth it
Charalampos A — Google review
Great water, nice place to rest after walking from Thebes. The giant snake corpse was kind of grisly, but there was a lovely young man playing guitar nearby.
Peter E — Google review
The fountain is free to visit, and has a marvellous story behind it!
TIGREPORTEADOR — Google review
The spring isn't t exactly there. It is closer to the mountain. Fallen rocks blogged the way to them. Now, on the left side, when you walk to the delphi entrance, you can fuel your bottle with the holy cold undead water, redirected from the springs.
Georgios K — Google review
The Castalian spring was the sacred source of Delphi, and its water played an important role in the cult and procedure of the temple and of the oracle. This is where Pythia, the priests and the temple staff washed, and where the water used to clean the temple came from. The theopropoi - those wishing to consult the oracle - were also obliged to wash here in order to purify themselves.
Stoyanka I — Google review
There is no more spring here. It’s still visible what it once was. However, this place should be restored.

Delphi Archaeological Site

Historical landmark
Delphi, an ancient site in Greece, is home to the iconic Tholos of Delphi, a mysterious monument with no clear purpose. The area also features the Temple of Apollo and the Oracle of Delphi, offering visitors a glimpse into history and culture. Known as the 'naval of the earth,' Delphi attracted people from all over Greece to seek guidance from the famous Oracle. The extensive ruins include an ancient theater and stadium.
This was one of our truly remarkable experiences in Greece. The Temple of Apollo, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the mountains, was absolutely awe-inspiring. At the entrance, a staff member scanned our tickets on our phones, and we began our ascent. There were clean toilets just to our right immediately after entering, which was convenient. The steps were gentle, making the climb quite manageable, not tiring at all. However, the bright sunshine caused the temperature to rise, so taking breaks in the shaded spots along the way made the journey much more comfortable. We highly recommend bringing a bottle of water per person for this exploration. There was a tap with fresh water available at one of the rest points during ascending. We were looking at the ruins of the Temple of Apollo and the nearby theater and imagining how magnificent they must have been in their era. We continued walking up to see the ancient stadium, then we had to descend the same way. Comfortable and sturdy footwear is advisable, as some paths can be rocky and slippery. Overall, we loved the Delphi archaeological site. It is perfectly situated amidst stunning scenery which makes it a truly unforgettable experience for us three.

Well worth the walk! Super beautiful, very well maintained and safe. Recommend not going at the high temperature hours of the day. Museum included it took us approx. 2 hours. It can get very busy, we went 10am Friday morning & there was a few too many people - kinda spoils the immersion.
Ella — Google review
Very interesting place with a lot of history being the site of the Oracle of Delphi. Enjoyed it very much right up until the moment my wife broke her ankle in 2 places on the last step on the way out. Be very careful on the steps leading down to the exit.
Phillip R — Google review
Incredible visit to the site, which was lovely and quiet as we went early and missed the coach-loads arriving. If I was being picky, I would say it could do with a little more information, but in reality it is wonderful to just absorb the atmosphere. The museum was unbelievable - packed with carvings, sculptures and other artefacts; well laid out and great interpretation/information.
Leona R — Google review
Amazing site that I recommend you visit early in the morning. Take water with you and shade (a hat or an umbrella) as there is very little shade on the site. There is a toilet near the entrance as you walk up into the site. IMPORTANT NOTE: You cannot access the archeological site from the museum! The entrance is a further 2 minutes walk along on the north east, along a path past the museum exiting the town. You should see the signs past the ticket office / cafe / museum shop.
Pak-Ming W — Google review
Beautiful area on the top side of a mountain with a very nice view. A lot of history here and informational plaques. There’s also plenty of staff around to help keep things moving and answer any questions. Definitively recommend taking a trip out here if you’re looking for places to explore near Athens
Katherine H — Google review
The place is absolutely magical! Don't forget to go to the top and see the ancient stadium. Of course it's better to visit the site with a guide and to hear all the legends which are connected to this special place.
Desislava P — Google review
Stunning archaeological site that is definitely worth a visit. The ruins are in relatively good shape and offer spectacular views over the mountain valley. Entrance fee is 20 euro’s, which includes a ticket for the museum. Note that it is an uphill hike which gets hot in summer. Make sure to bring enough water and visit a bathroom as no such services are offered within the park.

Ancient Stadium of Delphi

Historical landmark
The Ancient Stadium of Delphi offers a unique experience for visitors, serving as the venue for various cultural events such as the Summer Arts Festival organized by the European Cultural Centre of Delphi. This historic site was once home to the Pythian Games and could accommodate up to 6,000 spectators on its tiered stone seating. The stadium's unpaved trail leads visitors to discover ancient starting blocks and other remnants from its glorious past.
Wow! Roman stadium built in the famous Sanctuary of Delphi. Although this is a Greek site, the Romans ruled Greece from the 2nd century BC until 4th century AD. They built the stadium and the theater. You see these and the entire sanctuary with museum with one ticket for 6 euro. Park on the street and walk in. We had no wait but we were off season. I bet it is crowded as heck during season.
Paul — Google review
Nice local museum with archaelogical artefact. Spent €20 per pax for both the ruins and the museum. there were water cooler and toilet outside of museum. Nice short hiking at the ruins. We spent about 3 hour in total for both ruins and museum. Generally recommended. Good to come early to avoid the tourist crowd. Parking was limited.
El A — Google review
The Ancient Stadium of Delphi is located further uphill from the theater, and it’s worth the climb. Surrounded by trees and with a peaceful atmosphere, it’s fascinating to picture ancient athletic competitions held here. The view from the stadium is beautiful, making it a rewarding end to exploring the archaeological site. 非常建議大家一定要走上來,真的不會太累
Alec T — Google review
Perched high above the Temple of Apollo, the Stadium of Delphi is one of the best-preserved ancient stadiums in Greece. Originally built in the 5th century BC and later renovated in stone by the Roman benefactor Herodes Atticus in the 2nd century AD, it could host around 6,500 spectators. The track measures about 177 meters in length, with starting grooves still visible today. The stadium was the stage for the athletic contests of the Pythian Games, held every four years in honor of Apollo. Victors were crowned with laurel wreaths, symbolizing the sacred tree of the god. Surrounded by the dramatic slopes of Mount Parnassus, the stadium not only evokes the spirit of ancient competition but also offers one of the most breathtaking views of the sanctuary and the valley below.
César F — Google review
It’s a bit of an uphill walk, so if you aren’t in the best of health, I’d recommend staying closer to the Temple of Apollo. That being said, the stadium was very cool to see and also provides a commanding view of the mountains and valley below. If you’ve driven this far to Delphi, take the extra time to walk up to the stadium.
Colin W — Google review
It was such a hike to get up there, but it was amazing, and definitely worth the time! Make sure you bring enough water because you will need it after the trek up! There are plenty of trees for shade and they have benches to sit on and rest, too. It is unbelievable how well preserved it is!
Rachel — Google review
It was very busy when we went here. Not a long walk to get to the stadium. A lot of other ruins to see along the way. It was amazing to see the ruins of Ancient Greece. Not much shade along the way. Bring plenty of water and a hat or umbrella for shade.

Tavern DION is a charming traditional taverna in the center of town with delicious food that locals love. The checkered tables spill out into the street and are a hot spot for local feline population, while the service is attentive and hospitable.
This place was such a lovely find! I loved the outdoor eating area, food was DELICIOUS, and service was excellent. While dining, my spouse and I watched the staff switch between at least 4 different languages while accommodating guests. Portions were large and flavorful- even the bread and cheese served with the meals were YUM and should out.

This charming local restaurant in Delphi offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with a lovely outdoor area nestled along the stairs connecting the two levels of the local streets. The food had a warm, home-cooking style. While the bread was a bit on the dry side, the chicken lemon soup was comforting, and the pastitsio, resembling lasagna, was quite delicious. The grilled lamb rack was flavorful and satisfying. The service was welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed our dinner experience here.

This is such a fun find! This place has the loveliest atmosphere - the night time lighting, the kind staff and the lovely service were perfect! They treat their clients like family and are such kind people. We were gifted the best service and the meals were beautifully presented and prepared. Everything was flavourful and cooked well. The dessert Loukoumades was such a perfect after dinner treat. Go here! You will not regret the amazing hospitality and delicious plates!

It's am amazing experience to eat here!! Excellent food, very good service, prices are absolutely fair and the ambience is good. You get a can of ice cold water, bread and a dessert (we got loukoumades) all for free!! Enjoy

Incredible. We had the meatballs and the chicken souvlaki. It came with freshly cooked potato fries, pitas and tzatziki. Very very delicious. To top it all off we got served the fried donut balls with honey, on the house. Simply amazing. Def recommend! The whole place is charming as what. There’s a few cats lurking for some scraps, but very sweet and non aggressive. Friendly waiters!

I had an unforgettable meal at Taverna Dion in Delphi! The moussaka was the best I’ve ever tasted. To top it off, the loukoumades were heavenly: light, crispy, and drizzled with just the right amount of honey. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the cozy atmosphere made the whole experience even better. A must-visit if you’re anywhere near Delphi!

Amazing Greek food! I went twice in my two days in Delphi because it was that good. Generous portions, great value, and really friendly service. My son loved it too, and the complimentary desserts were a wonderful touch. Highly recommend!

Today, we enjoyed a truly hearty dinner here. The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming, and every guest was well taken care of. Every glass of water was offered free of charge, the prices were very reasonable, and the portion sizes were more than generous. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delicious. To top it all off, we were treated to a complimentary dessert — a yogurt-based treat mixed with candied tangerine peel and strawberries. The combination was wonderfully refreshing and satisfying. Thank you for such a delightful dining experience!

Gyro restaurant
Souvlaki Gyros Pita is a classic Greek dish that features juicy, flavorful meat (pork or chicken) grilled on a skewer and served wrapped in warm pita bread. It's typically garnished with tomatoes, onions, fries, and topped with tzatziki sauce. The dish offers a variety of sauces and customizable garnishes to suit individual preferences. While Greek restaurants abroad may cater to different expectations, the authentic experience of enjoying Souvlaki Gyros Pita is unparalleled.
Absolutely amazing food. Loved the Tzatziki appetizer here and the chicken and pork skewers was great as well. The seasoning and texture of the meat was totally on point.

When we arrived in Delphi and checked into our stay, we realized that the town didn’t have many dining options open in the evening. Luckily, we found Souvlaki Gyros Pita still open, and it turned out to be the perfect place for a hearty dinner. The food was simple but tasty, and the prices were very fair. A great little spot to grab a satisfying meal in Delphi!

All the other places in Delphi are very touristic and serving Pizza and Pasta etc. This place is authentic, good value for money and with a very friendly owner. 45 Euros for two generous portions with 3 meat skewers each, one Greek Salad and 1 Liter of wine. We'd come here any time again with pleasure!

Gyros were good, but I wouldn’t give it five stars as we had better ones. HOWEVER, the price was pretty good and the service was exceptional. Definitely worth a visit in the area.

Affordable local/street food... we got here late last night and only had dinner at 21:30. The staff was friendly and the food excellent. They also had cold Mythos and other beers. We enjoyed it so much that we came back the next day... we ordered Gyro's and they have their own spice cheese sauce that I swapped for the tzatziki. It was an excellent choice. When we came back the owner recognized us and opened a table for us. Great experience...
Jaco R — Google review
Great place for a quick grab of souvlaki or gyros, with affordable prices, quick service, and friendly staff. The only thing I wish is that they were open for longer hours, so I could enjoy my lunch or dinner a bit earlier or later. I would also appreciate a wider variety of condiments, such as yoghurt, cucumber, and salad to go with the souvlaki or gyros.

Nice restaurant with amazing view! You can sit inside and look out through big panorama windows. I bet in the summer the windows are opened all you can enjoy the weather and fresh air. We were here in cool spring. The food was very good; pork gyros and lamb chops. We ordered without sides, just pita bread which was nice and fresh. Tzatziki for starters was good as well. Mixed salad kind of bland, seemed like the dressing was just oil. Only the service was a bit slow so we had to rush out to catch the bus. However we got our coffee and dessert (Greek yogurt with apple and banana, nothing special) to go which was very nice. The service was kind nevertheless. Prices are absolutely reasonable and portion sizes very good.

Parnassus, one of Greece's highest mountains, is located in the Phocis district of ancient central Greece. The mountain features a sprawling national park and a popular ski resort that attracts ski enthusiasts every year due to its proximity to Athens. Covered in evergreen fir trees, Parnassus offers an ideal destination for winter activities and trekking amidst an alpine landscape.
One of my favourite Greek mountains for the ski and trekking lovers. It is suggested that the name derives from parnassas, the possessive adjective of the Luwian word parna meaning house, or specifically temple, so the name effectively means the mountain of the house of the godη

Tough steep climb in summer to top of Liakoura summit. You could get closer if chairlift operated or you could drive the Jeep roads but the resort makes you walk. For first half follow the jeep paths from carpark which is easier than going under the chairlifts with uneven ground covered in thistles. Then follow the red blazes on the rocks. Use the Anavasti app and buy the Parnassos map. The geotracking will keep you on the path.

The evergreen Mt Parnassos, covered in fir trees, is a famous winter destination and one of the highest mountains in Greece. A swarm of ski aficionados head to the ski resort every year as their trip there is facilitated by its proximity to Athens. The mythical mountain’s slopes are weighed down by the history and tradition of Roumeli. It is an ideal destination where you can enjoy the warmth of greek hospitality and views of some picturesque villages in an alpine landscape. The area offers also more then 100 hiking routes and is best visited on summer!

Magnificent place, mysterious and magical. You can relax listening to the sounds of nature, the water and the birds. There are two Byzantine ruins to visit, the temple dedicated to Agia Eleousa is one of the oldest ones in Greece, dated on the 6th century. There are also signs of the ancient temple dedicated to the river god Kifissos and the nymphs. Easy to get there, you can go by car or on foot, about 20 minutes from the village square. There is a path going up to a cave but we didn’t try it.

At a distance of 1800 meters from the primary school of Polydrossos, about 30 minutes walk, I estimated that I would reach the springs. Just outside the village there are stables to the right and left of the road with sheep and of course with sheepdogs that barked at me almost all the way. There was barbed wire in the pens but I was afraid that somewhere there was an opening and they were coming up to me. Finally it took me 45 minutes to get to the sources. I cannot say that I was compensated by the view of the springs, but the photographs capture the exact picture. I personally wouldn't go again.

Flying with Yiannis Xiros, a six-time world champion in free flight, was an experience that exceeded all my expectations. From the very beginning, Yiannis was incredibly attentive, instilling a sense of safety and ensuring that every second of the flight was maximized. The adventure began at 1,250 meters above sea level on the southern slopes of Mount Parnassus, the highest take-off point in Greece. The views during the flight were absolutely breathtaking: the majestic 2,500-meter peaks of Parnassus spread out around us before leaving them behind as we approached Delphi. We flew over the narrow canyon where Pythia, the oracle priestess, prepared her prophecies—an area that had been closed to visitors for years, making the aerial perspective even more special. To our left, we could see the Gulf of Corinth and the Peloponnese as a stunning backdrop, while ahead, the Mornos River channel and Mount Giona unfolded. Flying over the archaeological sites and seeing them from such a unique perspective was truly unforgettable. As we passed over the city of Delphi, which seemed to be suspended on a 300-meter vertical rock, I felt like I was part of a dreamlike movie scene. The highlight of the flight, however, was witnessing the largest olive grove in the world: 1.2 million olive trees stretching from the mountains to the sea, near the town of Itea. It is indescribable to see two 2,500-meter-high mountains, immense vertical cliffs, archaeological treasures, the sea and an endless expanse of olive groves — all at once and almost under your feet. This flight is, without a doubt, a one-of-a-kind experience. I can’t imagine any other place in the world that combines such natural beauty, history and excitement in a single adventure. For those looking for something truly unforgettable, this is the perfect flight!

We met a local at our hotel pool and he recommended Yannis for paragliding. I cant thank him enough! My 14 year old son said it was the highlight of this vacation and one of the best things he has ever experienced. I was aprehensive. Yannis and his wife quickly put my mind at ease sharing their experiences and training. Paragliding Fun is definitely a must when visiting Delphi!
Susie T — Google review
I can't say in simple words enough about this experience. You just have to try it! It is totally safe, Yannis Xiros is a professional - both in flying and in handling his customers. We had some weather issues, but eventually the time of the flight was adjusted to the weather, we met at the location, and had an extreamly beautiful flights and overall experience. Do it, you will not regret!
Alexey B — Google review
Incredible experience, the instructor Yannis, a 6x world champion, was incredibly knowledgeable about the area we flew over, as well as made it a very comfortable and enjoyable experience. Can not recommend this place enough if you’re looking to paraglide in Greece

I've done some paragliding in Utah, USA and I can say this was gorgeous!! Ioannis was great, smooth takeoff and landing, amazing views over the archaeological site at Delphi, definitely check it out if you get the chance!!
Calvin B — Google review
For a great experience do not hesitate. You kill two birds with one stone. You see Historic Delphi and the surroundibg from above as well as get to feel the freedom of flying liken bird. All under the great care and warranted safety of Yannis. If the Greek god of wind (Aeolos) is in your favour an experience worth it!!
Albert D — Google review
Ioannis is a very experienced paraglider. My 70year old mum and me, each of us flew a tandem-flight with him. We felt safe and well informed with him. The flight over the sight of the oracle of Delphi was an unforgettable wonderful experience. Thank you again Ioannis for sharing your wings with us!!! 😁😁😁

Polytropon, an accomplished artist, received a warm reception from Aristotelis in the month of April. The pottery class facilitated by Polytropon was characterized by an abundance of creative freedom. The enjoyable experience culminated in a delectable dinner prepared by the host. Furthermore, it is worth noting that Polytropon provided excellent service and possessed linguistic proficiency in Greek, English, French, and potentially other languages.
Aristotelis warmly welcomed us in April and gave us a lot of freedom for our pottery creations. We had such a great time for this class that ended with a delicious dinner cooked by our host. Thanks again!

European Cultural Centre of Delphi

Cultural center
The European Cultural Centre of Delphi is a modern hub for cultural activities in the city, established to promote culture and make Delphi an international cultural reference point. The center hosts cultural events every two years, featuring ancient tragedies, musical concerts, and theatrical performances in the ancient theater of Delphi. It's an ideal location for international meetings, exuding positive energy and stimulating creativity while being directly connected to the unique ancient civilization.
Superb space to watch a play. Either bring a cushion to sit on or pick up one of the ones available. If you are watching a play in the summer remember that the stone seats radiate heat and bring a fan / dress appropriately! Arrive early to get a decent seat (seats aren't numbered) and to ensure that you can park your car (parking is on the roads near the centre unless you are disabled or need to drop off an elderly relative). The slope up to the amphitheater could be challenging for some so give yourself time to walk up. Overall, this is a 'bucket list' experience.

Small museum well curated with pieces from the local history from the ancient times till the modern times. Coins, pieces from everyday life, weapons from Greek revolution and paintings from the naval history of the city. There was also an awesome volunteer guide who explained very thoroughly everything. Unfortunately I would not recommend it as a visit with young kids.

This is a perfectly lovely, intimate local museum which covers the entire span of its recorded history, ancient times, it's time in the War of Independence, & the glory years as a ship-building port. Especially interesting is the overview of the ancient archeological history accompanied with local finds and thoughtful curation. Well worth visiting while you are in Galaxidi. As an extra bonus: it offers an excellent air-conditioned refuge on a hot afternoon.

Great service, extensive menu at reasonable prices. The fish soup is amazing. The shrimp were excellent and the location on the seafront is a joy. We, a group of 4, had a range of dishes and all, with one exception, were excellent. The mussels while tasty were very small and undeveloped but that is a fault if the product rather than the kitchen.

The best place to eat in Galaxidi! Awesome food at great prices, served by the nicest people! An absolute must!
Stelina P — Google review
The service was non existent. She took our order and once the food and water came out she never appeared again. I ordered a coke and she never brought that. We finished the water not even halfway through our meal. We ordered saganaki, fries, calamari and octopus. Saganaki was ok and the fries were the only good part of the meal. The calamari was like a big rubber band. Chew, chew, chew, chew. The octopus was by far the worst I ever tried. I think cat food would have tasted better. It was overcooked and chewy as well. I had to ask for the check and then go inside to pay. She tried charging for the coke. Anyway not a place I would recommend the calamari or octopus for sure. Not there specialty.

Restaurant
Taverna Gargadoyas is a charming family-run eatery situated in the western part of Delphi, offering a delightful escape from the touristy hustle. The friendly staff and owners extend a warm welcome to visitors. The menu features an array of delectable meat dishes like gyros, lamb chops, and fresh salads. Guests can enjoy generous portions and flavorful traditional Greek cuisine while taking in scenic views from their roadside seating area.
The service was amazing. The owner was attentive, gave great suggestions and even offered us dessert on the house! We really enjoyed the tzatziki, eggplant salad and spicy salad with bread. The kebabs were also delicious. All for quite a decent price! Highly recommend if you’re near the Delphi area.
Tze Y — Google review
First dinner in Greece, we wanted to try local food. We tried a tzatziki as appetizer and chicken gyros and Greek salad as main dishes. It was as expected a very nice overview of the local cuisine! Special mention to the chicken meet which was very tasty. The fries however were a bit chewy and greasy, but overall it was a nice dinner. The service was very good and the place was cute, we had a great time.
Lucas S — Google review
On our way back from a trip, by the recommendation of our guide, we sat down and had lunch at this tavern and we definitely weren't wrong. The souvlaki was excellent, the meat was so soft and juicy, the gyros burger was the same. For a starter we had the eggplant spread with their pita bread, also excellent. Definitely a great lunch
Jakša B — Google review
I got the pork souvlaki, and I could tell the pork was of really high quality. The owner of the restaurant told me he does the grocery shopping every day at 6 a.m. to get fresh ingredients. I had a very satisfying lunch here and highly recommend it. The prices are reasonable, the food is awesome, and the server was super kind. There's no reason not to visit!
Som S — Google review
The worst restaurant in Greece, the chicken was dry and salty, everything was heated from the refrigerator, and the sauces were all from the factory. There is no sincerity and it feels like they have lost their passion for making delicious food! Definitely not recommended.

Delicious brunch with eggs, meat, and fries! The owner was incredibly inviting and warm, and had the kindest aura and such a positive disposition. Food was top quality!!

Absolutely delicious food! We tried the Greek cheese and pita as a starter (ask for the one that's like philadelphia in texture) and a gyros plate as mains. The gyros plate was huge! Tasty and well priced Greek food!

Restaurant
Nestled in the scenic Delphi hills, Villa Symposium Restaurant offers a unique blend of Greek artistry and natural beauty. The ambience is spectacular, with mesmerizing Greek landscape serving as the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable experience. Visitors can enjoy special Greek cooking lessons and delicious food options like chicken, baked vegetables, orange cake, and house salad. Despite being an excursion stop-off, the restaurant provides reasonable prices and a good selection of dishes for all types of travelers.
I recently had the pleasure of hosting two separate yoga retreats at Villa Symposium in Delphi, Greece, and it was an absolutely incredible experience! This family-run business truly makes you feel like part of their family. Everyone is so welcoming and goes out of their way to ensure you feel at home. Our daily yoga sessions were held in the Villa's art gallery, which served as the perfect serene space surrounded by beautiful art and sculptures—a truly enlightening environment for our practice. We stayed for one week per retreat, and every moment was filled with magic. The meals were consistently outstanding, featuring the freshest locally sourced ingredients. Greek cuisine has never tasted better, and we were fortunate enough to participate in a cooking class led by our host, Lydia. Our groups loved preparing and enjoying traditional Greek dishes—it’s a must-do experience! The accommodations were fantastic and just a short walk to the villa each morning. We also had the opportunity to explore the Villa's holistic herb garden, guided by one of the family members. Walking through the garden was peaceful and we even spotted beautiful tortoises! I can’t recommend Villa Symposium enough—authentic, home-cooked meals, fresh local ingredients, and 5-star personalized service. This is a place where attention to detail and personal touches make all the difference. Thank you to the amazing team for such an unforgettable stay!

An amazing experience from the moment I arrived. Warm greetings from a family owned and run business. Food was phenomenal! Delicious and all dishes made with traditional family recipes. Overall an outstanding 5 star rating in all departments including the physical environment (nestled cosily in the mountains), the layout, food and service. The starters are just nice in volume and taste. The main course of bake chicken is out of this world. The cake is a little too sweet for me but very delicious. The staff and boss are super friendly and helpful.

Delicious food, gorgeous atmosphere and Lydia is the best host ever! I was fortunate to spend an evening learning how to make some authentic Greek cuisine. I fell in love with this restaurant, the food, and especially the warmth and loving atmosphere created by Lydia and her family. It was my favorite evening in my 11-day trip abroad. Thank you Lydia! You are such a beautiful person inside and out, I felt like a member of your family. Everyone visiting Greece needs to go to this restaurant! Sincerely, Lou Ann
