St Luke’s Bombed Out Church, also known as St Luke's Church in Liverpool, is a historic landmark that was built in the early 19th century. The church, designed in Gothic style by John Foster Sr and John Foster Jr, served as both a place of worship and a concert hall. However, it suffered severe damage during the Liverpool Blitz of World War II, leaving it without a roof and with its stained glass shattered.
Stunning with really friendly helpful staff, I was there when they had a fair with lots of stalls and it was such a nice atmosphere with bar and seating outside, there were great things on offer. The building and garden surrounding is just so beautiful with such interesting story. Worth keeping an eye out for events there!

We headed to St Luke's Bombed out Church - What a serene place. The building itself was beautiful, surrounded by wonderful trees + nature. The statue of the English Soldier + German Soldier - both with their own country uniforms BUT exactly the same face - should absolutely make you stop and think - we're not so very different from each other really are we? These statues commemorating the shaking of hands - before their Christmas Day truce - engaging in a game of football - simply just young ordinary men before again the horrors of war continued. The grounds are inviting, peaceful, serene with music playing and the opportunity to order food and drinks. A friendly place where people meet for lunch - take a break from sightseeing - just to BE. It's lovely and maybe we all feel that spirit of connection through ' The Handshake ' ENJOY

Really beautiful place. Take into consideration the weather. The first time I went there they didn't let me in because it was too windy.
Rayna G — Google review
Unfortunately it appeared shut when we attended. St. Luke's Church, affectionately known as the "Bombed Out Church," is a powerful symbol of Liverpool's history and resilience. The church's foundation was laid in 1811, and it was consecrated in 1831. It was designed by John Foster Sr. and his son, John Foster Jr., in a refined Gothic Revival style. The church earned its nickname during the devastating Liverpool Blitz in May 1941. An incendiary bomb hit the church, causing a fire that gutted the building and destroyed the roof and interior, leaving only the exterior walls and tower intact. The tower clock stopped at 3:36 AM, a poignant reminder of the moment the bombing occurred. Instead of being demolished, the shell of the church was preserved as a memorial to the civilian casualties of World War II. Since 2007, it has been managed as a community arts venue and a space for peace and reflection. Opening Hours: The church is generally open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April to September and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from October to March, though these times can vary based on weather and scheduled events. It's recommended to check their official website for the latest updates. The gardens surrounding the church are typically open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sam H — Google review
A visit to St Lukes is a must. Just to see how the outer shell has stood the test of time. So nice you can sit in the grounds and soak up the atmosphere with a coffee. This church definitely needs to be preserved so please support them.
Belinda M — Google review
This is definitely worth a visit. It’s really fascinating the history and how much bombing took place during World War II in Liverpool.
Andrew K — Google review
The church which was bombed in the war, has remained nearly untouched since. This creates a unique space for anyone to visit. It is frequently used for events, so you may not always be able to go inside. Despite this, the church remains a marker of the former Liverpool. Furthermore, as shown in the photo attached, outside the church is a statue depicting the Christmas Day truce a nod to its ties in the world wars.
Theo G — Google review
Elegant and majestic ruins of a church that was meant to be a place of faith and hope, then came the brutality of war. Never to forget that we are meant to love, not to hate; meant to create, not to destroy.

Liverpool Parish Church, also known as Our Lady and Saint Nicholas, is a captivating historical landmark that dates back to the 13th century. This church not only boasts a striking spire once utilized for maritime navigation but also features beautiful gardens that enhance its charm.
Liverpool Parish Church stands at the heart of the business centre of the city, looking across the River Mersey. This is a beautiful church inside and out. Works of art on display. The gardens are fantastic and have plenty of benches to sit and relax.

Came across this beautiful church in the middle of the business district - a spiritual bastion of tranquility overlooking the docklands. Worth a visit if want some time for reflection, prayer or just to zone out. 🙏

Located near the Historic Liver Building. Just go from the liver building front to the road behind it. If you come out from the western side of the building, look right in front of you when you arrived at the traffic light. If not, look at your left side shoulder and you should see it at about 10 o’clock of your position. Enjoy your visit and donate to support :)

A fine church on the Mersey. Strong links to Liverpool's maritime past, present and future. A bright light church with clean lines of sight to the sanctuary.

A spiritual oasis of calm in Liverpool city very close to the Mersey river and ferry terminal. A beautiful C of E Church rebuilt on the original site of worship dating back over 600 years. I visited this week as part of the Easter Holy week with my daughters, revisiting this church after many years to pray and reflect. Open to visitors the week we went during the day and within a peaceful garden grounds also overlooking the riverfront and Liver Building. Ongoing services weekly continuing the important service of worship and connection Yes - highly recommended. SM. Highly recommended to

🕰️ Historical Overview The church's origins trace back to the mid-13th century with the establishment of a chapel dedicated to St Mary del Quay. As Liverpool expanded, a larger chapel was constructed in 1361 and dedicated to St Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors, reflecting the city's growing maritime significance. By the late 15th century, the church had expanded further, incorporating multiple chantry chapels and adopting the dual dedication to Our Lady and St Nicholas . A significant event in the church's history occurred in 1810 when the spire collapsed during a service, tragically killing 25 people. The tower was subsequently rebuilt by architect Thomas Harrison and completed in 1815 . During World War II, the church suffered extensive damage from incendiary bombs in 1940, leaving only the tower intact. The current structure was rebuilt and consecrated in 1952, designed by architect Edward C. Butler . ⚓ Maritime and Civic Significance St Nick’s has long been associated with Liverpool's seafaring community. Its proximity to the docks made it a familiar landmark for sailors, often being the first and last sight as ships entered and left the port. The church continues to honor this legacy through the Maritime Chapel, which houses memorials such as the MV Derbyshire Memorial and the Blitz Memorial, commemorating those lost at sea and during wartime

Driven past this little church hundreds of times and decided to call in one day. The gardens are well maintained and create an oasis away from the main city. There are great views of the Liver Building too. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

New Brighton Beach is a picturesque seaside destination with a mix of natural beauty and historical landmarks. The expansive golden sand beach is perfect for leisurely strolls, sunbathing, or building sandcastles on sunny days. Visitors can also admire the iconic Perch Rock lighthouse and fort, offering insights into the area's maritime history. A short train journey from Liverpool via Merseyrail makes it easily accessible for a day trip.
Lovely seaside town, with a huge, very clean promenade. Never knew this place existed. Beach when the tides out is awesome. Lots of local Arcades, food bars, cafes, pubs & supermarkets etc. Brilliant in the sun, will return.

New Brighton beach has lovely sand and views. It's got an old-school charm but finding a bathroom can be a pain. Really enjoyed my time there. Will recommend... I got Free Parking as well
Adebowale A — Google review
Great to find free parking here in New Brighton, There is also many disabled parking spots to be had. Had a nice walk down the front and also had coffee at the Fort where you can use the toilets and they have a nice seating area inside where you can check where the battery was that defended Liverpool in world war 2. All in all its a really well kepted clean place with plenty todo for the kids as there's a small theme park with some nice rides like the pirate ship. Every time we have visited there seems to be and icecream van with really nice soft scoop ice cream. We had a great afternoon here with an extended walk along the front. We'll worth a visit we will be coming back in the near future.

New Brighton Beach exceeded all expectations. The sandy shoreline is spacious and clean, perfect for long walks or just lounging under the sun. The views across the Mersey are absolutely stunning, especially at sunset – a photographer’s dream! There’s plenty to do for everyone: kids love the promenade and the funfair nearby, while adults can enjoy the cafés, bars, and independent shops just a stone’s throw from the beach. Even on busy days, the atmosphere feels relaxed and welcoming. Whether you're local or visiting, it's the kind of place that makes you want to stay longer than planned. Already looking forward to my next trip!

Was not impressed to see fishing from the pier haha but found some beach for the dogs at far end near the fair. Had a lovely dinner at my fav cafe, sausages for the dogs naturally. Lots of pleasant people, talking to strangers like the good old days.. lots of memories with family here, will always have a place in my heart. Definately recommend visiting here, plenty to see, cafe's and outlets offering a huge variety of food, grass and beach for dogs/kids (just PLEASE keep your dog leashed if no recall - fed up of disrespectful owners getting dogs in trouble) - also the slots and funfair.
Bex M — Google review
New Brighton Beach is a wonderful spot for a relaxing day out with family or friends. The promenade is clean and vibrant, offering stunning views of the sea and Liverpool skyline. There’s a great mix of activities — from grabbing an ice cream or fish and chips to strolling along the pier or exploring the historic Perch Rock Fort. The beach itself is well-maintained, and the atmosphere is peaceful and family-friendly. Kids will love the shallow waves, and the wide walkway makes it perfect for scooters and bikes. There’s also free parking nearby, which is a huge bonus! The only downside is that the sandy area is relatively small compared to other beaches, especially during high tide. It can get a bit crowded on sunny days if you're looking to spread out or build sandcastles. However, it doesn’t take away from the charm and overall experience of the place.
Karim K — Google review
New Brighton Beach is a well-kept and spacious coastal area that provides excellent views across the River Mersey towards Liverpool’s city skyline. The wide sandy shore is perfect for long walks, family outings, or simply relaxing by the water. There are plenty of nearby cafes and facilities, making it convenient to spend a full day here. The promenade is clean and accessible, and the atmosphere is generally calm and friendly. It’s a great alternative to busier city beaches and works well for anyone wanting fresh sea air without travelling too far from Liverpool.

Crosby Beach, located just half an hour north of central Liverpool, offers a captivating experience for visitors. The beach is adorned with a striking installation called Another Place by renowned sculptor Antony Gormley, featuring 100 life-size figures spread across two miles of the coastline. These iron casts of the artist's body create a mesmerizing sight against the backdrop of the sea and sky, constantly changing with the tides and weather.
Very nice beach with interesting sculptures. Be careful during low tide. Could get muddy….😂😂
Frank S — Google review
A peaceful beach with a great and unique sculpture. Be cautious of the soft mud—it feels like quicksand. It wasn’t very clean when we visited; it only looks clean from a distance. Marian Lake nearby was also fine…
Prakriti K — Google review
Crosby Beach is quiet and peaceful, not a busy tourist spot. I went on a weekday morning during low tide, and the beach seemed endless, perfect for a walk, collecting shells, or just enjoying the open space. After the tide went out, I saw lots of jellyfish, razor clam shells, and seashells scattered across the sand. The highlight is definitely the art installation: 100 life size cast iron figures standing across the beach, all facing the sea. At first, I thought they were people walking far out, but they turned out to be statues. Up close, with moss covering their faces and bodies, they look striking and a little eerie. There aren’t many facilities around (just the occasional ice cream van), so if you plan to stay longer, bring your own water and snacks.
Moon R — Google review
My dog's name of Crosby beach we have a lovely loads of memories there. But scary beach to be honest we can't go to the top, very strong current. Beware
Rue A — Google review
A very long and sandy beach with Gormley’s Statues everywhere. Great for a stroll. Wind turbines in the distance. Found quite a few jellyfish washed ashore.
Lisa Y — Google review
Great beach, not too overcrowded but there is plenty of space for everyone Sea is always quite far out but the sand is fab, not rocky and has great amenities around We had a great BBQ on the beach and got to see a fab sunset
Richard H — Google review
Beautiful beach to spend your day. Anyone irrespective of age can visit the place. Water is not suitable to take bath as it's muddy. But beach is clean and you can take food (as there is no other option inside or near the beach). Only one ice-cream bus is available near beach but it's very expensive. But if you walk 0.3miles from beach, you can find restaurants and shops

Additionally, customers have praised their exceptional customer service and personalized Christmas offerings.
Kind staff and lovely service. The coffee is great, they have many different types of coffee beans for sale. The place was quite busy but we got our order fast:) great service I am definitely revisiting & will recommend it to my friends. We came 20 minutes before closing time and they happily served us (some coffee shops refuse to serve by that time). Overall 5/5 😊🌟

I’ve only been to the cafe once and it was great. What I chiefly do is buy their beans by mail order for grinding in my home setup. We’ve tried a bunch from different places and as we live in Hertfordshire there’s a lot of choice up and down the country. As a family we’ve found Iron Man blend can’t be beaten for smooth, chocolatey flavour. Love it! Just got an order of Trio and Brazil and hope they’re just as good. Packaging is great and we love the personalized notes. Keep up the great work guys!

I love the coffee here and always come and get the bags of beans to make at home, the inside is lovely and every bakery item I’ve had has been gorgeous. Only thing letting it down for me is the staff sadly. Every time I’ve gone in they seem very uninterested in serving, always looking annoyed by the fact someone’s come in which makes me feel really unwelcome. Because of this I very rarely stay in to have a coffee and just get takeout.

Queens Wine Bar and Bistro is a charming spot located in the secretive Queens Arcade, offering an intimate setting with outdoor tables. The decor exudes a minimalist yet authentic Parisian cafe experience, complete with rustic chairs and classic French artwork. This delightful bistro provides an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of Castle Street, where guests can indulge in Loire Valley Wines paired with seasonal classic dishes made from high-quality ingredients.
I visited Queens last night to try their menu for Liverpool Restaurant Week. As always it was excellent. This week's special menu is £35pp for 3 courses, and everything we tried was a delight. Seriously one of the best restaurants in the city and certainly my personal favourite. Their recent awarding of an AA Rosette is well deserved. The service is very thoughtful and welcoming, the food and drinks all fantastic, and the cosy atmosphere is fab.
Chris W — Google review
Queen’s Restaurant catered our wedding of 45 guests and completely blew us away. From the very first conversation, they were beyond accommodating — nothing was too much trouble, every request was met with warmth and enthusiasm, and their attention to detail was unmatched. On the day itself, they didn’t just serve food — they created an experience. Every single dish was perfection — beautifully presented, bursting with flavour, and served with the kind of genuine friendliness that makes you feel like family. Our guests are still talking about the meal days later — some even said it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had (and honestly, we agree!). The team’s professionalism, kindness, and energy made everything feel effortless. They worked seamlessly with our venue and went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. You could feel the pride they take in what they do — and it showed in every bite, every smile, every thoughtful touch. If you’re considering them for your wedding, event, or anything — stop searching and book Queen’s. They were a total dream to work with, and we’ll be recommending them forever. Absolute legends. 👑✨

Renowned for its warm and inviting ambiance, this charming restaurant is run by the dynamic duo, Cath and Tony, who are celebrated for their friendly service and engaging personalities. Guests rave about the exquisite dishes served here; from melt-in-your-mouth fillets to a Madeira sauce that leaves taste buds dancing with joy.
Fantastic as always.Lovely ambience. The food never fails to impress, service very friendly and unhurried- always nice to have a short break between courses to savour what you have eaten. Cath and Tony are famous in the area for their warmth and humour and I don't know how much the chef earns but it's not enough!! If you haven't visited Ellington's don't wait a day longer, you won't regret it. I can't recommend it highly enough. BW 14/2/19

Ellingtons what a hidden gem! Food is fabulous fillets that melt in your mouth and the Madeira sauce is out of this world. I can honestly say that my husband and I have never had even a mediocre meal here, it’s always a full on treat. I know that you only do 3 nights a week now but please don’t stop as you are our favourite restaurant in Merseyside. Thank you Cathy and Tony and your brother the best chef around

The atmosphere was great thanks to the owners who are in front of the house who are very accommodating. If you don't see something on the menu they give you plenty of options that aren't on the menu. It's quite expensive but we will visit again definitely.

Amazing restaurant, lovely atmosphere and decor and the staff were great. The food was incredible, literally the nicest steaks we've ever had and the sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce... wow! Definitely going back.
