Parks
Villa Comunale di Taormina, also known as Parco Duca di Cesaro, is a charming destination for leisurely strolls through beautifully landscaped gardens offering stunning views of the sea and the city below. Originally designed by Lady Florence Trevelyan in the late 19th century, this picturesque public garden features native Mediterranean and exotic plants, ornamental pavilions, and fountains.
Villa Comunale, Taormina is a true gem nestled in the heart of the city — a peaceful, beautifully landscaped public garden that’s the perfect escape from the bustling streets. We visited this week and were blown away by how serene and charming it is! The garden paths wind through lush flowers, ancient olive trees, and stone terraces that offer stunning views over both the Ionian coastline and Mount Etna. It’s a wonderful spot for a leisurely stroll, a quiet moment of reflection, or even a picnic with those breathtaking vistas. Clean, well-kept, and almost radiating old-world charm, Villa Comunale is an oasis of calm. We especially loved the shaded benches, the gentle fountain sounds, and the sense of history all around. Highly recommend a visit early in the morning or as the sun begins to dip — the lighting and atmosphere create an almost magical mood. A lovely way to pause, breathe, and enjoy one of Taormina’s best-kept secrets.

This city park is really lovely and very pleasant to walk around. There’s plenty of space with wide paths and lots of benches, perfect for sitting and enjoying the surroundings. The greenery is beautiful, a mix of palm trees and regular trees, and in the late afternoon when the sun starts to set, it looks especially nice. There are small fountains with fresh drinking water, several decorative fountains, and even a historic building adding some charm. There’s also an outdoor gym with various exercise machines, though a few of them are slightly damaged. A few small vendors sell ice cream, drinks, or snacks. From some spots in the park you can enjoy views of the rocks and the sea. There’s a playground for children and overall it’s quiet and peaceful, a great place to relax and spend time outdoors.

Wonderful place! Such tall cacti there so beautifully placed. We took a lot of pictures and the sea view was amazing. Totally worth to come back to Taormina.
S T — Google review
The park was stunning. We made sure to dine close by so we could wander back after nightfall and experience it in a different light. Darkness didn’t make it unsettling—it felt timeless, almost like walking through a preserved moment in history.

The Villa Comunale, Taormina is a beautiful gem tucked away that we came across while wondering through the city. It is filled with so much history and serenity. It's so calming and quiet. My boys even played on the little playground in the middle of the park. Picturesque ocean views can be seen at certain points and there are tons of photo opportunities throughout. A great family place to just stroll through after the hustle and bustle of the center city to gather ones self before dinner or even early in the morning. This is a must see on your itinerary.

Such a gorgeous and unique place! Definitely visit, you won't regret it. It's absolutely stunning and has amazing views over the bay

Wonderful park on walking distance fron the center of taormina. Beautiful large trees and lots of cozy benches and shadow places to escape the heating sun. The view is amazing too. There are a few old buildings that remain from the english garden era. Also there is a great playground for the youngsters among us. The park is very well maintained.

Castles
Palazzo Corvaja is a medieval palace in the city, featuring a courtyard adorned with Christian reliefs and serving as an exhibition center. The palace has a rich history, with its initial cube-shaped tower built by the Arabs for town defense. Over time, it expanded to become the seat of the Sicilian Parliament, showcasing a blend of architectural styles including Arabic, Norman, and Gothic. After being abandoned post-World War II, it underwent renovation to preserve its unique characteristics.
Corvaja Palace, which is located in Piazza Badia at right angles to the church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, The origins of the palazzo incorporate an early Norman fortress dating from the 12th-14th century, which in turn was constructed on Roman foundations. It was subsequently added to over various periods up until the 15th century. Its main body is an Norman-style tower, and it has an inner courtyard where the Gothic influence can be seen in the arched windows and doorways. A 13th century staircase leads up to the first floor and an ornamental balcony which overlooks the courtyard. In 1410, Corvaja Palace housed the Sicilian Parliament.[1] It was renovated in 1945 by Armando Dillo, and as of 2009 it is the seat for the Azienda Autonoma Soggiorno e Turismo.
Homa — Google review
Palazzo Corvaja is on our right, shortly after entering Taormina from Porta Messina. A beautiful, comparative building, it combines different architectural elements, Arabic, Catalan, Gothic, Norman. The central tower is of Arabic construction from the 10th century, while the rest of the building was built in parts between the 13th and 15th centuries. It has a special arched entrance and a very beautiful internal courtyard with a staircase that ends in an internal balcony before the entrance to the 1st floor. The special architectural double and triple arched Arabic windows stand out, the sections of which are separated by small intermediate columns. It took its name (Corvaja) from one of the oldest and most famous families in the city, which owned it from 1538 to 1945. Today it houses the offices of the Sicilian Tourism Agency (APT).
John D — Google review
This palace dates from medieval times. The architecture presents different elements and styles. It was the prinary residence of the Corvaja family up until 1975. Now this historic monument houses a museum with exhibits from history and the tourist information office. From Taormina you get a good view of Mount Etna. Porta Catania

Porta Catania is one of the historic arched entrances in the ancient city of Taormina, enclosed by medieval gates and a central gate called Torre dellorologio. The gate was known as Porta del tocco in ancient times and is located near Largo del Tocco square.
Beautiful baroque style old fashioned streets with color. Way to many small streets and stairs that connects to other small streets. A must see place once you visit Taormina:)

Beautiful view of Mount Etna. A historic piece of architecture, which forms part of the historic ramparts of the city. This gateway was built in 1440. This nice medieval gate presents the opening to one of the prettiest towns in Sicily. There are plenty of churches around in town. There's a shopping centre nearby. A beautiful old town with lots of history, high end shopping, and restaurants.
Bill A — Google review
At the far end of Corso Umberto, where the street narrows and the air begins to smell faintly of sea salt and espresso, stands Porta Catania is more than an entrance it’s a threshold between centuries. Step through, and you don’t just enter Taormina; you enter a whisper of history that still remembers you. The southern gate of Taormina. Built centuries ago, it has watched the town’s stories flow through like a living river of footsteps, laughter, and memory. Pass beneath its arch and you feel the shift from the modern rhythm of cafés and boutiques to the slow heartbeat of medieval Sicily. The gate’s basalt stones, darkened by Etna’s breath, still hold the warmth of the sun and the voices of those who once passed through: traders from Catania, pilgrims from afar, lovers sneaking back at dawn. Look up the coat of arms of Aragon still rests above the arch, a reminder that this island has belonged to many, yet always remained its own. From here, if you turn around, the mountains cradle the horizon; ahead, the old town unfolds like a woven tapestry of gold and ochre.
Bel Z — Google review
This place is stunningly beautiful. It quaint and historical with wonderful architecture and atmosphere. Views and scenery are amazing a visit is highly recommended typically Sicilian.
Kevin F — Google review
Porta Catania is one of the main medieval gates of Taormina, built in the 15th century under the Aragonese rule. Its coat of arms, with the Aragonese shield, still decorates the facade, marking the town’s historical connection with that era. The gate formed part of the city’s defensive walls and served as the entrance leading towards Catania. Today, it remains a well-preserved monument that reflects the strategic and architectural importance of Taormina during the Middle Ages."l

The Duomo di Taormina, also known as the Cathedral of Taormina, is a historic medieval Catholic church located in the heart of Taormina. Built around 1400 on the ruins of a church from the Middle Ages, it features a grand arched interior with elaborate statuary and a Latin cross plan with a trio of aisles.
Lovely church in the heart of Taormina. Particularly beautiful just after Easter. Walk in and you are hit with a wall of floral perfume. The decoration is very typical of the style of building but well worth a visit.

Romanesque The Cathedral of Taormina (Duomo di Taormina), located at the heart of Piazza Duomo, is a striking blend of medieval austerity and Sicilian charm. Built in the 13th century and later modified, its fortress-like exterior contrasts beautifully with the elegance of its interior. The rose window and baroque elements add a unique touch to the otherwise Romanesque structure.
Onbarefeet — Google review
This medieval cathedral is very nice and beautiful. It has a handsome rose window. There is some renaissance artwork around. The exterior looks like a stronghold. Island
Isola Bella is a small, rocky island located within a nature reserve in Sicily. It is known as the Pearl of the Ionian Sea and offers stunning pebble beaches and rich marine life. Visitors can take a boat tour from Giardini Naxos to explore the Grotta Azzurra and Isola Bella, enjoying hidden bays, coral-inhabited caves, and crystal-clear waters for snorkeling.
Very beautiful island! I wasn’t allowed to enter because I was wearing just my bikini top and shorts, swimwear is not allowed. Be aware that the ground is covered in pebbles, not sand, so water shoes are highly recommended.
Alexandra D — Google review
I took the Funivia down from Taormina-10 euro for a round trip ticket, departs every 15 minutes, and the 4 carriages can hold 48 passengers. After you're down at the station, you take a short walk down a road with a small shoulder past shops to find the staircase on the seaside of the road. The stairs are a bit deep and may be challenging for children or those with mobility issues. There is a hand rail. Folks selling merchandise line the staircase. Walk past the beachfront bars, restaurants and chairs for rent to find a very pebbly, crowded beach. Lots of ladies walking around trying to sell you massage. I didn't make it across bc I was on a time crunch and it was too busy. Worth the stop in the off season- I'm not sure it'd be worth coming down in the summer. Really a beautiful spot, but just as enjoyable from above. I'd recommend finding one of the sandier beaches just north of town.
Kat B — Google review
Crystal clear water, fishes easily seen at shallow water without snorkelling equipment. Got shower facilities and umbrella rental. Be careful of the rock at the beach and seabed. Some review suggests you need to pay to get in, but we cannot find any ticket office at the beach, which seems to be an open area free for access.
Lydia C — Google review
Beautiful island but keep in mind lots of stairs to reach it and it is a very popular place, so itll be very full and also the water is very shallow, rock shoes recommended. Also there is a few beach clubs if you wish to but also not necessary. Showers at the beach are also available and working if you would like to remove salt. There are also boat tours that will take you out.
Carlos G — Google review
Absolutely stunning place! 🏝️ Isola Bella is a real gem of Sicily — beautiful nature, crystal clear water, and views that look like a postcard. It’s a protected area, so everything feels wild and untouched. Perfect spot for photos and relaxing by the sea. Just a heads-up: to reach the actual island, you need to walk across a pebble beach and then wade through shallow water. It’s not deep at all, but the stones are very slippery, and I made the mistake of wearing regular sandals. Ended up slipping and cutting my foot on the rocks 😅 So I’d really recommend wearing water shoes — especially if you’re visiting with kids. Totally worth visiting, just come prepared and enjoy this magical spot!
Victoria R — Google review
A magical place — a must-visit! You can reach the island by boat from Stresa — round trip costs about €10. The island is small but absolutely stunning. The Borromeo Palace is truly impressive — luxurious interiors, marble, frescoes, antique furniture, and artwork. Everything is beautifully maintained, and each room feels like a museum. The garden is like a fairytale: cascading terraces, fountains, statues, white peacocks, and breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore. It’s incredibly well-kept and perfect for a peaceful walk or photos. 💡 Useful info: • 🎟 Entry to the palace and gardens is about €20. • ⛴ Boats from Stresa depart every 15–30 minutes (€10 round trip). • 🕰 Mornings are the best time to visit — fewer crowds. • 🚻 Toilets, cafés, and seating areas are available. • 📷 Fantastic photo opportunities, a relaxing and inspiring atmosphere. 📍Isola Bella is a magical blend of nature, art, and aristocratic elegance. Absolutely unforgettable!
Julia — Google review
The beach is nice but the water is very cold. The good thing is the big place that you have as “public space” so you don’t need to pay for umbrella to stay all day here. To go inside the “Isola Bella” island (natural reserve) you need to pay 6 euros per person, and you can go inside only without “swim clothes”. You need to know that in this area to arrive in Isola bella, it’s chaotic to find a place for car, so it’s impossible to park, if you pay 20/25 euros per day, you have private parking close to the beach but I think it’s very very expensive. So I recommend to go here without the car if you can.
Daiana C — Google review

Lido Playa Sole Luna is a comprehensive beach club offering a tranquil atmosphere and a variety of amenities. Visitors can enjoy professional service, including pick-up and drop-off services, sunbeds, umbrellas, and even access to a wellness clinic. The on-site restaurant serves delicious food at great value for money. While the view may not be as stunning as some other beaches in the area, it provides a relaxing and dog-friendly environment for visitors to enjoy.
Amazing food & drinks. Friendly staff, good- normal prices. Pet friendly. Good sunbeds and beautiful water. Showers, toilets, changing rooms included AND transport can be included. Bar+ restaurant. There also is a pool acces. The beach is not sandy, there are small stones but they make the water very clear. I recommend!

Lovely beach club! Great place to relax by the sea. The restaurant has pretty reasonable prices and good service. The beach and the sea are fantastic – clean, calm, and beautiful. The sunbeds are very comfortable, perfect for a relaxing day. They also sell single-use towels on-site, which is super convenient if you didn’t bring one. They have delicious coffee cream and excellent iced coffee — definitely worth trying! Highly recommended!

⭐ Relaxing private beach with good service, but safety concerns. The daily fee is €16 per person – not sure if that’s average, but it felt fair for the area. Cocktails at €8 are actually cheap compared to Taormina (usually €12+ in town). There’s a shuttle service (pick-up and return), which made everything very convenient. The beach itself was calm, with lifeguards, toilets, and showers available. However, a serious downside: I found a large rusty fishing hook in the water, and saw others picking up metal objects as well. This is dangerous and really requires more attention from the management. I strongly recommend wearing water shoes. Great atmosphere overall, but safety in the water must be improved.

One of the highlights of our trip to Taormina. We loved it so much, we went twice. If you book it through your hotel, you get such a good deal for the amount you pay. Very clean, relaxing beach with everything you need.
Zoe M — Google review
Great alternative to the busy and expensive beach clubs in the area. There was a shuttle that picked us up from the hotel and dropped us back off when we wanted to go. Upon arrival, we received a welcome juice and enjoyed the drinks and sandwiches at the snack bar. The beach is very rocky in this area of Sicily so water shoes are recommended. Overall, we enjoyed our time at this beach club!
Julia B — Google review
I love this lido. I did a day here not expecting much from the shuttle service that was promoted from my hotel but I was wrong. I loved this lido so much I went to it three consecutive days in a row. The food and drinks were fairly priced, the staff were hospitable and welcoming, the sea and lido itself were clean and easy to access. If I had another week to spend in Taormina I would spend my days at this lido.

Rude staff from arrival, left waiting 20mins before serving us. Ordered x2 Caesar Salads, both came with raw chicken. Which we sent back and was told no the chicken is okay and this is how we serve it. Almost comedic to see the blood and pink The burrata, was bad too, no basil. Bad staff and bad food unfortunately.

Cinque Archi is an upscale restaurant in Taormina known for its higher prices and delightful seafood dishes. The average bill per person ranges from 40-80 EUR, offering a variety of options such as swordfish and white tuna paired with local wine. Visitors praise the fresh catch of the day and the option to choose their seafood. The restaurant's setting provides a calm and soothing atmosphere, complemented by attentive service and delicious food.
Amazing food, service, and beautiful view! Their seafood is served fresh catch of the day. You get the option to choose your fish, crab, or lobster if you please. My daughter ordered steak over salad and she loved it. I ordered cavatelli with prawn and OMG it was so delicious and you can taste the freshness of the prawn. We also didn’t realize that this restaurant was Michelin selected until we left and saw the sign. 10/10 would recommend!

Really liked this place. Went there Summer 2024. Cruise ship excursion to Taormina. Had very limited time before we had to get back to the tour bus. We were rushed, we were sweaty from the broiling heat, famished and thirsty, we looked like crap. Moment we stepped in, we embarrassing told the Maitre D of our time constraints. He assured us that we will be taken care of. Very friendly, very soft spoken. He had a lot of grace when bringing us our food. Recommended well. We still talk about the crab pasta till this day. A little too much dill, but it's unmistakably crabby. We didn't take the lobster, as it's of abundance where I live. The shrimp and tuna were clean tasting, and sweet. The red shrimp pasta was memorable too. Didn't have time to try their desserts. View out the balcony was postcard beautiful.

A very good restaurant in the heart of the city! We loved it! Service was great! First presentation was a very polite lady! A German accent speaking Italian! Also the waitress were great! We were served with very good food paired with a good etna wine, in a great atmosphere outdoor at the stairs of the restaurant, in background we could hear nice instrumental live music (by the cocktail bar at the square)!

Good little beach club. Beach is mainly pebbles, definitely recommend water shoes. Our hotel had a deal on with them, €18 euro for a return bus, sunbed and umbrella hire. Reasonably priced.

Really nice location, it cost €8 each to enter and €2 each for towels. Really cheap when it comes to entrance and towel hire. Wine was lovely, €13 for 1 litre! We had the local white wine and it was easy drinking and went well with all our food. Food was delicious, we had bruschetta classica to share for starter and for main we had spaghetti aglio e olio con peperoncino and I had spaghetti ai frutti mare. However, the service was really really slow and we ordered tiramisu and waited over 30 minutes to find out it wasn't put through on the bill. The slow service is the only reason it gets 4 stars from me otherwise it would of been 5 as it was a lovely afternoon.

We stayed at B&B Beach House Taormina, where breakfast was included. For breakfast, we were directed to Lido Tropicana. The sea view during breakfast was definitely a highlight. Unfortunately, the breakfast itself was quite basic, and the portions and quality varied from day to day, which sometimes felt unfair. The owner was generally friendly, but the service left much to be desired. The waitress was unfriendly, refused to speak English, and gave the impression that she disliked working there and had little patience for tourists. This negatively affected the overall experience. We also rented sunbeds daily. Even though there were plenty of empty spots, we were not allowed to sit in the front row by the sea on Sunday. We later found out that local guests were given priority over tourists. This felt unfair and unwelcoming. Overall, we would not recommend the breakfast, as it was quite limited and inconsistent. The sea view was wonderful, but the service and hospitality could definitely be improved.

Prime beach space overlooking pristine blue water. Large umbrellas, clean restrooms and outdoor showers. The beach rentals are reasonably priced. The food is ok but the indoor/outdoor seating with wifi makes this location one of the best. You will want to stay for the entire day. Restaurant
Trattoria Da Nino is a long-standing restaurant in Taormina, offering a traditional family vibe with reasonable prices. It overlooks the Ionian Sea and is conveniently located near the cable car terminal. The menu features authentic Sicilian cuisine, including Pasta Alla Norma and Cassata. The restaurant is known for its delicious selection of fresh pastas, seafood, and mouthwatering arancini.
Amazing authentic Italian food. Recommend the pasta with anchovies, it has a very good unique flavor. All dishes very excellent! Additionally a big thanks to Sebastien who made our dinner even more memorable. Thank you for the amazing hospitality and care for us! :)

We went twice!! Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Calm music plays, view is beautiful, all waiters are amazing they go above & beyond. When we mentioned the three of us were sharing all meals they actually split them up for us onto our own plates, gave great wine recommendations and did not rush you out of the restaurant. Very happy.

A truly authentic hole in the wall beautiful spot with the most incredible food in all of Taormina. Start with the tempura fried cod and the tempura zucchini and thank me later. The pasta was beyond fresh with incredible flavors and no guilt. The involitini was chefs kiss. Wish I had another night to dine here again and will remember for future visits. Exceptional service and remarkable food what more can one ask for.

A small traditional place. Etna white wine was EXCELLENT. Mixed raw fish dish was terrific! Caprese salad was delicious. Sea Bass, though wasn't cooked well or was made from a frozen fish and didn't match the level of the rest.

A Taormina Gem – Don’t Miss It! Trattoria da Nino was a highlight of our time in Taormina. The food is outstanding, fresh, authentic Sicilian dishes full of flavour with a smart, well curated wine list that features excellent local selections. The sea bass was perfectly grilled, tender and full of flavour. We were lucky enough to be seated on the terrace with beautiful views. Warm, welcoming service made it even more special. A family run gem that feels truly local. Highly recommend, don’t leave Taormina without eating here!

We stopped by this lovely restaurant from our walk from the main bus stop in Taormina to our airbnb. Their fresh oysters were so good! The fried squid aka calamari, was chewy and tasteless. I was a little disappointed and I won't order it again. The bolognese pasta was very nice. Otherwise, it's very nice restaurant. I highly recommended.

Fantastic restaurant, ambiance is great, staff is more than amazing & don’t get us started on the food which was exactly what we were looking for! Super tasty, like this is how you want to eat Italian food! Would love to come back 1 day again! We have Truffle pasta, Aglio e olio, Carbonara & Fish dishes as well. All fantastic!

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Spiaggia di Letojanni, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Taormina-Giardini. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Spiaggia di Letojanni is a hidden gem nestled near Taormina, offering visitors a delightful blend of relaxation and natural beauty. This picturesque beach features a unique combination of pebbles and gravel, making it an ideal spot for those who prefer not to deal with sandy messes. The crystal-clear waters invite you to take a refreshing dip, while the tranquil atmosphere provides the perfect backdrop for unwinding under the sun.
Best beach for us! Too bad we found this place on our last day of honeymoon. The water is crystal clear with small pepbles beach which doesn’t stick on you like the sandy ones. Very quiet beach with underrated. We went close to the end of the beach opposite the parking lots (1€/h) with a fresh water spot to clean up. Love love love
Grace B — Google review
Nice, clean and calm beach easily accessible by bus from Taormina. It is not sandy beach, instead you have little rocks, which do not stick to everything as fine sand does.
Sebastián P — Google review
Nice long and wide beach, made up of stones (mainly). The city could have taken a better care of this natural gem to my opinion. The beach is littered quite a bit. One can see plastic bags floating in the water. Discarded car tires, pieces of rusting metal and concrete street tyles lying around on the beach. Such a shame and seriously not up to European standards.
Yana A — Google review
One of the best beach spots we found near Taromina. The beach was clean, with beautifully clear water on the day we went. Nice places for gelato and cannoli nearby. Seemed to lack public toilets though.
Daisy B — Google review
Incredibly beautiful beach, surprisingly clean. The water is refreshing, colder but very pleasant. Because of the pebbles I recomend shoes to water.
El.Brambora — Google review
The beach area of Letojanni is excellent in the wintertime since it offers the possibility for delightful walks on the promenade. The sand is of small pebbles. The beach promenade has much potential to be a great place but is pretty much neglected. In the summertime, however, the beach is pretty crowded, and the beach clubs' quality could be much higher. This valuation is also valid for most beach restaurants.

This Catholic church is right on the main square. The Piazza IX Aprile has a picturesque view onto the sea and out to Mount Etna. The church has a Baroque façade and uses pink marble from Taormina. At the front there is a balcony that overlooks the piazza. Inside are pretty frescoes, pillars and carvings. Follow the IG link in profile for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews!

An old beautiful church in the center of Taormina. Located within terrace and a lot of restaurants. Must visit location on sun set😁
Viacheslav D — Google review
The Baroque church of San Giuseppe dominates the back of the beautiful Piazza XI Aprile. Unlike many other Baroque churches we visited in Sicily, this one is not so richly decorated. It is more simple and unassuming. A beautiful wide staircase takes you up to the church courtyard. The arched, according to Baroque architecture, entrance is made of pieces of white, gray and pink marble. High on the facade, above the entrance, there is a statue of Christ blessing the flock. Inside there are beautiful frescoes and several statues of saints. An interesting visit!

Beautiful romantic looking church. When we were there there was a huge wedding ceremony so we couldn't go in to see. It stands right outside the central piazza and has a great view of the sea.

Piazza IX Aprile in Taormina is a charming square located at the end of the main street, Corso Umberto. Its name commemorates an event from 1860 when a rumor about Giuseppe Garibaldi's arrival to liberate Sicily started spreading. The square is surrounded by a balcony offering stunning views, outdoor terraces perfect for enjoying drinks, and two religious buildings - the Church of San Giuseppe and the Church of Saint Augustine.
A must-visit spot in Taormina! Piazza IX Aprile is absolutely breathtaking. The views over the coast and Mount Etna are stunning (especially at sunset). The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, with street performers and beautiful old churches surrounding the square. This piazza has a timeless magic that makes it unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sicily!

This square in the middle of town is a beautiful spot to stop at. The Piazza overlooks the sea. You can also see Mount Etna from the terrace. The atmosphere is nice. Although it is very popular and there are a lot of people, it's not overcrowded. There are often painters offering to paint portraits for people. Around the square are examples of magnificent architecture. Take the time to visit the church on the square. Follow the IG link in profile for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews!

Piazza IX Aprile in Taormina is one of the most beautiful squares in Sicily, combining history and elegance. The square is framed by the Church of San Giuseppe, built in the 17th century in Sicilian Baroque style, and the medieval Clock Tower (Torre dell’Orologio), originally from the 12th century. Its name commemorates 9 April 1860, when Garibaldi’s uprising against the Bourbons was announced. From here, the views of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea are truly unique, making it a perfect meeting point and a place where history and daily life come together.

Originally established by Lady Florence Trevelyan, the park offers stunning views of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea. Wonderful place you have to stop and give it a try! The view is amaizing the park is very clean, you see wonderful things in it… it is calm it is the place to be when you are looking for a calm place to read or just to stay and admire the nature..

This beautiful garden offers stunning coastline views and many shady places to sit on a hot day. There are lots of flowers, majestic trees, birds and butterflies which add to the magic. Florence Trevelyan who founded these gardens is a lady I would love to have met. I imagine she was rather eccentric as she designed these beautiful and unusual follies in the gardens. You cannot explore them as they appear to be rather precarious but there are stone plinth areas where you can sit and admire the views. There is also a bar area where you can buy snacks and drinks.

We were fortunate to be staying adjacent to the garden at Villa Paradiso, and enjoyed walking through the park as time allowed. Stunning views, beautiful flora, and interesting history.

Absolutely beautiful public gardens, straight across from our hotel. Interesting to read about the lady who commissioned it, Florence Trevelyan who was English ( Newcastle to be precise, despite the park notices describing her as Scottish!) Lots of shade to escape to. Really quirky structures throughout. Also a useful and scenic thoroughfare to the shops/ restaurants! Definitely enhanced our stay.

Train station
Taormina-Giardini is a charming railway station located about 1.5 kilometers from the town center of Taormina. The station is well-kept and clean, with an ambiance that resembles a museum due to its Roman artifacts and beautifully decorated walls and ceilings. It also offers a bar for quick breakfast or coffee on the go. The station provides easy access to major cities in Sicily, making it convenient for travelers exploring the region.
Once you arrive to Taormina-Giardini station outside is a small main road. You can find a bus to city centre or if you turn right and walk towards than on the left-hand side there is a trail sign and you can walk all the way up to the top of Taormina which is taking you around 20-30 minutes. Very steep small road but its worth it.
Hegyi G — Google review
A charming and picturesque station with stunning views of the sea and Mount Etna. The architecture reflects traditional Sicilian style, with beautiful tilework and an old-world ambiance that makes arriving here feel like stepping back in time. While the station is beautiful, travelers should be alert—platform changes happen often and with little notice. Keep a close eye on the departure screens and listen for announcements to avoid confusion. A scenic gem with a touch of unpredictability.
MD. H — Google review
If you need to take a bus from this station, be prepared for chaos. Bus tickets aren’t sold at a machine, but by a woman standing on the street — and she spent most of her time talking on the phone while a line of people waited. She ignored everyone for a while, then finally sold tickets, saying the bus would arrive in 10 minutes. It didn’t. She disappeared after that, and no one could get any information. When a bus eventually arrived, it was already full and didn’t let anyone on. We had to wait again, with no idea if another would come. Finally, after about 45 minutes, another bus came but could only take 7–8 people. The rest were left behind once more. The station itself is an old building with a beautiful interior, but the overall experience — especially for bus travelers — was incredibly frustrating and disorganized.
Nida Ö — Google review
The train station is right on the water with a beautiful view. It's a small and very clean location and your feel safe. Tickets from other cities are easy to buy. Once you get to Taormina train station take the bus up the mountain to the middle of town for 2 euro. Do not walk. It's 45 mins. And its like doing a stair master.
Jennifer K — Google review
Such a beautiful train station It also has lifts. Only issue is the taxi's outside who charge €20 euros for a 5 minute journey to the centre.
LJ M — Google review
A quaint older station. Bathrooms were hard to find being located outside at the end of the station and then you hand to PAY to use the lavatory which I feel is unconscionable in a public facility. The train employee was clueless as to whether our passage was allowed or not. As it turned out we could only travel on a regional train, not an inter-city. The employee told everyone they could board any train. The platform information was switched at the last minute so everyone had to make a mad dash under the tracks to board. I suppose as expected the train was 20 minutes late and got later as the trip progressed. The train itself was clean and comfortable.
C B — Google review
Lovely waiting room but no coffee, no toilet either that can be accessed without tokens that no longer exist. Work hard on your bladder control, not suitably for traveling with elderly relatives unless you previously restricted food and drink intake

Nestled along the picturesque beach of Letojanni, Lido Blue Sea is a charming little restaurant that captures the essence of laid-back coastal dining. On my first evening in town, I stumbled upon this inviting spot, where the vibrant blue decor set a relaxed tone for my meal. After indulging in a refreshing Negroni to celebrate my arrival, I was eager to try their gluten-free pizza—a delightful choice that did not disappoint!
This place is very affordable. They are very friendly and we enjoyed the dinner here. We ate Carbonara and Crudo e Melone. They also have good cocktails at affordable prices. Not everything jas to be pricey to enjoy a good dinner. We recommend this place.

Chicken cutlet was 10€ and thinner than the fries. Did not feel worth the price. A powerade was 4€ (or we got the tourist price) I guess I should've asked first. Food itself was good, what little there was of it. They close at 23, not 23:30 like google says. And they really means you need to leave the restaurant at 22:40 or they will start hovering around your table waiting for you. The staff are nice about it though, they just make you feel rushed.
C V — Google review
Good food and good service in a modest, unassuming terrace. The guy at the counter was nice enough to try and speak English when hearing me struggle with Italian, not the waiter though. Service was quick, prices are good and the terrace view is amazing. Card payment is possible. Although nothing special or fancy it is the kind of place i went to 3 times in one week in Letojanni, as it is good.

Very casual beach restaurant that has seen better days. A bit shabby even, I'd say. Toilets are nasty. Food was ok for the price, nothing to call home about. Went there only bacause it was late and most other places were closed. OK for a quick bite but if you wanr something really enjoyable look elsewhere.

Came here for the gluten-free pizza and it was very good. The dough was just slightly undercooked so maybe a bit longer next time. No issues with cross-contamination so highly recommended it to my fellow celiacs. The staff was a bit off. Our waiter got distracted and was talking to his coworker behind the bar while he was in the middle of taking our orders which was a bit weìrd. They also look angry for some reason haha. I guess that's just their serious face. They were still kind and did a good job.

The Odeon in Taormina is a compact archeological site dating back to 21 BCE. It features the open-air remains of a small Roman theater, located near the Church of Saint Catherine. The site also incorporates a wall from a temple dedicated to Zeus, which was later converted into the present structure.
The Odeon is a nice little archeological site near downtown Taormina. There are remnants of both a temple from 250 BC and an Odeon from 100 BC. The site was very accessible to the public and I was able to freely walk through the ruins. It doesn’t take too much time to explore. There’s a sign giving some information about the ruins. If you’re walking around Taormina, this is a great site to quickly check out.
Frenite — Google review
Wonderful to see that places like this are free for people to experience. However, there HAS to be a person there to keep tourists from littering and using the corners as toalets. The site of this importance needs to be maintained better. Also, please let street musicians use the area for live music, that would be a perfect combo...
Tomislav K — Google review
A close-up view of the Roman Odeon in Taormina, Italy — ancient brickwork and stone seating reveal the intimate scale of this Roman-era theatre, tucked quietly behind the bustling streets, echoing with the cultural legacy of Sicily’s layered history.
Onbarefeet — Google review
Nice small archeological monument of a rare type, interesting and worth a quick visit. However, it's pretty built in by the surrounding houses, which makes its original state hard to imagine. There's just one table with a few explanations at the entrance (Italian and half length in English only), which isn't very detailed. This could be improved, as could the signposting, as I didn's see a single sign pointing towards this somewhat hidden site. Entrance is free by the way, the area is open from 09:00 to one hour before sunset.
Heinrich A — Google review
Yet another amazing structure rich with history. This little theatre used to be the edge of the town before they built up a huge wall to the east. The views would have been incredible. It’s similar in a lot of ways to tested antica but with some key differences as it was Greek in original construction (I think)
Gregg V — Google review
Awesome place to come, with a view of the whole city and the coastline on both sides that is hard to see elsewhere. The theatre is also very well kept itself and seeing the coastline through its center is very cool. Would definitely recommend this as a must do spot if you come to Taormina.

Corso Umberto

4.7
(52)
Corso Umberto is the vibrant heart of Taormina, stretching approximately 800 meters between the stunning arches of Porta Messina and Porta Catania. This charming pedestrian street is a delightful blend of history and modernity, featuring beautifully restored medieval buildings that house an array of designer boutiques, quaint souvenir shops, cozy bars, and inviting restaurants.
One of the most beautiful downtown like roads I’ve experienced. Highly pedestrian focused and rife with cafes, retail stores, restaurants, gelaterias, piazzas, few amazing scenic spots, everything you can look for. I came during Christmas hence the Christmas decor which looked amazing. There is really good food all across the corso and hidden books which all are worth exploring.

We immensely enjoyed walking and shopping at this unique stoned Main Street of the enchanting medieval village of Taormina. There are shops for clothes, shoes, and souvenirs; as well as restaurants and bars. I particularly love the chocolate store Nina & Friends and the Capricco Gelateria.
Kaman K — Google review
The main road runs through the old town from Porta Catania to Porta Messina. The pedestrian street is full of cafes, bars and places to buy souvenirs. There are plenty of luxury designer shops around too. There's churches to visit too. The buildings have prettily decorated balconies. Off one end of the road you can visit the teatro antico di Taormina. Follow the IG link in profile for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews!

Long walkable street unifying shops, restaurants, and the best sights of Taormina.

Beautiful old pedestrian street that makes for the most memorable stroll through Taormina. Bustling with energy and excitement at all hours day or night. Adults sharing a cocktail and a story over a game of cards while children run and play. A glorious representation of people in their highest and best form of enjoying and just truly living life.

Nestled in the heart of Taormina, the Biblioteca Comunale Ex Chiesa Sant'Agostino is a remarkable transformation of a Gothic church originally built in 1448. Initially dedicated to Saint Sebastian, who was believed to have saved the city from plague, it later became a monastery for the Hermits of St. Augustine. Over time, significant renovations occurred around 1700, including the addition of a bell tower and an updated entrance arch.

Lovely late 15th c church, supposedly originally devoted to St. Sebastian who saved Taomina by performing the miracle of keeping the plague away. Personally, I'm glad there is no plague in Taormina, because it's a very nice town. Thanks, Sebastian!

(Translated by Google) As can be seen from the facade and bell tower, this was once a church dedicated to Sant'Agostino. Built in 1486, it was a church until 1933 when it became a library. What books does it host? The texts of the former convents of Sant'Agostino, San Domenico and the former Capuchin Convent, whose subjects were Theology, Philosophy and Natural Sciences. The beautiful facade has undergone restoration over the years. In fact, I remember that when I was little, the color was much more white. What to say? The facade is aesthetically very beautiful, but the interior, well used as a library, is also beautiful. Absolutely worth visiting! Recommended! Consigliata!

The Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, also known as the Church of San Giuseppe della Pia Societa Salesiana, is a restored Catholic church with baroque architecture and a small bell tower. It was built in the late 17th and early 18th centuries and features a facade made with Taormina marbles of different colors.
The Church is beatifull and the historic design and pictures are worth the visit!

Opposite Palazzo Corvaja we find this small but beautiful Baroque church. It was built in the 17th century, partly on the pre-existing Roman Odeon, which in turn was built on an ancient temple of Aphrodite. The church stands out for its special Baroque entrance, in which pink marble from Taormina was used. Above the entrance we see the statue of Saint Catherine of Alexandria. Inside, the spiral columns and beautiful oil paintings stand out.

The Church of Santa Caterina, built in the 17th century, stands on the ruins of a small Roman theater, traces of which can still be seen nearby. Dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria, it reflects Baroque style with elegant details. While not as grand as Taormina’s cathedral, its historical layers — from Roman to Baroque — make it worth visiting. A charming stop, though relatively modest compared to other monuments in town.

Girasole Lounge Bar Lido e Spiaggia Attrezzata is a stunning beach club that offers an authentic experience without the tourist traps. With its pristine waters and well-maintained facilities, including showers and changing rooms, it’s the perfect spot to unwind. The comfortable sun loungers provide ample shade for those looking to relax under the sun. Guests rave about the friendly service, with staff going above and beyond to craft delightful drinks even if they’re not on the menu.
This tiny Beach club / Restaurant is amazing, Angelo and other workers was so kind and food was really delicious, highly recommend grilled shrimp, octopus with Celery and Tomatoes and Sea food linguine was spectacular.

A restaurant located on the beach. The older male waiter was very friendly. The portions were good and big. The background music was for middle-aged people. And MTV was playing on the televisions. We asked the young waiter to turn the TV down, but he didn't. But the young waitress did mute the TV. This restaurant does not charge service fees automatically, like many other restaurants.

Fantastic place for lunch, drinks or dinner. The staff are fabulous with great English and very helpful. Veronica has been been fantastic today and couldn’t do more for us. We would highly recommend this place when you come to Letojanni.

Beautiful beach club that isn’t out to scam tourists. The water was gorgeous and they have showers/change rooms on site. The chairs are comfortable and offer shade from the sun. Basically everything that you need to enjoy the day. The service was super friendly, even showing me options to make drinks that weren’t on their menu. At the end we ordered a pizza which was ready in 7 minutes and delicious. The only thing to note is that there’s no servers on the beach so you need to walk 1 minute inside but that is no issue at all and actually a nice change of pace after lounging around. There was also no music/DJ but that is honestly more peaceful than hearing tunes the whole time. Listening to the sea was a gorgeous change of pace from our busy holiday. 5/5 a huge thank you for the suggestion, Giuseppe.

Good place to eat. Drinks are sometimes pricier then some dishes, but still worth favorites are midori and dragonfly. Pizza is quite big just right for one person. If you want to eat crepes add some toppings.

The pasta alla norma was awful, completely lacking in flavor. They brought a dirty, old container of cheese for us to add ourselves — truly unacceptable. The drinks were artificial and tasted nothing like real juice. Overall, a very disappointing experience. Would not recommend at all.

We had dinner here in our first night and came back in our last one. Affordable and very good food, kind and nice people and a great location. The pizza burratina was the best pizza I had in Sicily. Marguerita did an amazing job dealing with a full room of people and never losing her sweet smile. Definitely recommend.
