Parks
Villa Comunale di Taormina, also known as Parco Duca di Cesaro, is a charming destination for leisurely strolls through beautifully landscaped gardens offering stunning views of the sea and the city below. Originally designed by Lady Florence Trevelyan in the late 19th century, this picturesque public garden features native Mediterranean and exotic plants, ornamental pavilions, and fountains.
Villa Comunale, Taormina is a true gem nestled in the heart of the city — a peaceful, beautifully landscaped public garden that’s the perfect escape from the bustling streets. We visited this week and were blown away by how serene and charming it is! The garden paths wind through lush flowers, ancient olive trees, and stone terraces that offer stunning views over both the Ionian coastline and Mount Etna. It’s a wonderful spot for a leisurely stroll, a quiet moment of reflection, or even a picnic with those breathtaking vistas. Clean, well-kept, and almost radiating old-world charm, Villa Comunale is an oasis of calm. We especially loved the shaded benches, the gentle fountain sounds, and the sense of history all around. Highly recommend a visit early in the morning or as the sun begins to dip — the lighting and atmosphere create an almost magical mood. A lovely way to pause, breathe, and enjoy one of Taormina’s best-kept secrets.

This city park is really lovely and very pleasant to walk around. There’s plenty of space with wide paths and lots of benches, perfect for sitting and enjoying the surroundings. The greenery is beautiful, a mix of palm trees and regular trees, and in the late afternoon when the sun starts to set, it looks especially nice. There are small fountains with fresh drinking water, several decorative fountains, and even a historic building adding some charm. There’s also an outdoor gym with various exercise machines, though a few of them are slightly damaged. A few small vendors sell ice cream, drinks, or snacks. From some spots in the park you can enjoy views of the rocks and the sea. There’s a playground for children and overall it’s quiet and peaceful, a great place to relax and spend time outdoors.
Stormson — Google review
Wonderful place! Such tall cacti there so beautifully placed. We took a lot of pictures and the sea view was amazing. Totally worth to come back to Taormina.
S T — Google review
The park was stunning. We made sure to dine close by so we could wander back after nightfall and experience it in a different light. Darkness didn’t make it unsettling—it felt timeless, almost like walking through a preserved moment in history.

The Villa Comunale, Taormina is a beautiful gem tucked away that we came across while wondering through the city. It is filled with so much history and serenity. It's so calming and quiet. My boys even played on the little playground in the middle of the park. Picturesque ocean views can be seen at certain points and there are tons of photo opportunities throughout. A great family place to just stroll through after the hustle and bustle of the center city to gather ones self before dinner or even early in the morning. This is a must see on your itinerary.

Such a gorgeous and unique place! Definitely visit, you won't regret it. It's absolutely stunning and has amazing views over the bay

Wonderful park on walking distance fron the center of taormina. Beautiful large trees and lots of cozy benches and shadow places to escape the heating sun. The view is amazing too. There are a few old buildings that remain from the english garden era. Also there is a great playground for the youngsters among us. The park is very well maintained.

Porta Catania Parking is a convenient parking facility located just 200 meters from Corso Umberto in Castelmola. It features five floors with a capacity for up to 650 cars, making it an ideal option for visitors exploring the area. The parking offers both covered and rooftop parking, providing various options for drivers. Additionally, the facility is equipped with clean restrooms on the ground floor and can be accessed via a lift or stairs to reach the upper levels.
Awesome parking lot. Restrooms to use right after your trip and good parking lot and nice staff. This all makes you feel welcome to Taormina and a nice goodbye. Come here because its cheap and nice
Asher F — Google review
This is a spacious public parking complex located just a short walk from the popular Corso Umberto as it is very convenient if you’re visiting the center. The structure has 7 levels, offering plenty of space to find a spot. Nevertheless, the spiral ramps between levels are quite narrow, so driving through them can be a bit tricky, especially with a larger car. Prices are not on the lower side, but that’s to be expected for such a central and accessible location
Imran E — Google review
It was mainly okay, the ramp to go up the parking was stressful but nothing extraordinary. However, one of our group members got stuck in the toilet (the lock did not open from inside) so the security guy had to kick it out for us. Otherwise pretty much ok. 13 EUR for approx 8 hours
Andrej K — Google review
Convenient parking just steps away from Taormina’s city center. There is an elevator that takes you up to the 7th floor for easy access to the town, as well as clean restrooms and a simple, hassle-free entrance and exit.
Maryna S — Google review
Best place to leave your car when visiting Taormina, both during the day and for the evening. In the evening there might be a queue to get in, but it does move quickly, so it’s best to wait 5 minutes.

Seventh floor -> Seventh Heaven 🤩 50 meters walking distance from Porta Catania, the entrance of Taormina’s main street. We spent 3 days in Taormina, so it was very useful having a parking place on the top of the hill - there were free parking places every time.

7 levels of parking. There are elevators. The top floor is at the level of the main street. Also restrooms! Free! But nasty

Excellent central location for Taomina Town. Up in the lift to floor 7 for access to the town. Can get very busy when the cruise ships are in town. Safe and clean car park.

Porta Catania

Porta Catania is one of the historic arched entrances in the ancient city of Taormina, enclosed by medieval gates and a central gate called Torre dellorologio. The gate was known as Porta del tocco in ancient times and is located near Largo del Tocco square.
Beautiful baroque style old fashioned streets with color. Way to many small streets and stairs that connects to other small streets. A must see place once you visit Taormina:)

Beautiful view of Mount Etna. A historic piece of architecture, which forms part of the historic ramparts of the city. This gateway was built in 1440. This nice medieval gate presents the opening to one of the prettiest towns in Sicily. There are plenty of churches around in town. There's a shopping centre nearby. A beautiful old town with lots of history, high end shopping, and restaurants.
Bill A — Google review
At the far end of Corso Umberto, where the street narrows and the air begins to smell faintly of sea salt and espresso, stands Porta Catania is more than an entrance it’s a threshold between centuries. Step through, and you don’t just enter Taormina; you enter a whisper of history that still remembers you. The southern gate of Taormina. Built centuries ago, it has watched the town’s stories flow through like a living river of footsteps, laughter, and memory. Pass beneath its arch and you feel the shift from the modern rhythm of cafés and boutiques to the slow heartbeat of medieval Sicily. The gate’s basalt stones, darkened by Etna’s breath, still hold the warmth of the sun and the voices of those who once passed through: traders from Catania, pilgrims from afar, lovers sneaking back at dawn. Look up the coat of arms of Aragon still rests above the arch, a reminder that this island has belonged to many, yet always remained its own. From here, if you turn around, the mountains cradle the horizon; ahead, the old town unfolds like a woven tapestry of gold and ochre.
Bel Z — Google review
This place is stunningly beautiful. It quaint and historical with wonderful architecture and atmosphere. Views and scenery are amazing a visit is highly recommended typically Sicilian.
Kevin F — Google review
Porta Catania is one of the main medieval gates of Taormina, built in the 15th century under the Aragonese rule. Its coat of arms, with the Aragonese shield, still decorates the facade, marking the town’s historical connection with that era. The gate formed part of the city’s defensive walls and served as the entrance leading towards Catania. Today, it remains a well-preserved monument that reflects the strategic and architectural importance of Taormina during the Middle Ages."l

The Duomo di Taormina, also known as the Cathedral of Taormina, is a historic medieval Catholic church located in the heart of Taormina. Built around 1400 on the ruins of a church from the Middle Ages, it features a grand arched interior with elaborate statuary and a Latin cross plan with a trio of aisles.
Lovely church in the heart of Taormina. Particularly beautiful just after Easter. Walk in and you are hit with a wall of floral perfume. The decoration is very typical of the style of building but well worth a visit.

Romanesque The Cathedral of Taormina (Duomo di Taormina), located at the heart of Piazza Duomo, is a striking blend of medieval austerity and Sicilian charm. Built in the 13th century and later modified, its fortress-like exterior contrasts beautifully with the elegance of its interior. The rose window and baroque elements add a unique touch to the otherwise Romanesque structure.

Bar
Bar Turrisi is a unique and quirky establishment located in Castelmola, Sicily, Italy. The historic bar is known for its flamboyant decor featuring phallic-themed elements throughout the multilevel space. From large stone sculptures to bathroom taps, the interior is filled with phalluses of every size and medium, celebrating fertility and luck while also embracing the risque and libertine aspects of Taormina's history.
Very nice bar with a thorough homage to fertility. We had almond wine and espresso. Both very tasty. We didn’t have any food, but were told by others that they have great cake here.
Jan C — Google review
We had bruschetta and a toastie - basic food but the views, location, service and the fun of the items inside more than make up for the food. Definitely a good photo stop. Very reasonably priced for both food and drink. There’s a few floors to this place so obviously the further up you go the better the views and generally quieter the tables
Maijella H — Google review
We were sitting in a bar one afternoon in September. The impressions are great: great music and service. I dropped my wallet somewhere in the square and I realized it 3 hours later. I called them from Taormina. They searched the square, found the wallet and returned it to me. Thanks again!
Ljubica M — Google review
Very cool and unique place! It's really very quirky - there's lots of phallic sculptures in here, apparently to represent fertility. It is quite amusing though. We had a drink here and they brought over some complimentary snacks, which was a nice touch. I only marked it down one star for service as although it was good and he was friendly, we only got over the one drink.

My tour guide brought us to this cute little bar full of pen****. Def a place to remember. There were pen**** everywhere! My fav was the faucet in the bathrooms. 😂 Also, the almond wine was delizioso! 😋 I had to buy two to take home as gifts. They also make fresh cannolo’s. Def worth trying! Grazie mille!
Liliana — Google review
Our B&B host sent us here to try the almond wine, asking that we not spoil it. It was a fascinating surprise, considering the furniture, decorations, bathroom walls, door handles... The wine was good and at the end we ordered something in the same style of the place (photo) and we were happy; they gave us the glasses in the pictures after paying (no reasons for a boring order like in a usual pub 😁).

After two weeks in Taormina, we discovered this hidden gem on our last day and what a wonderful surprise! The warm, welcoming atmosphere created by the kind family who runs the place made us feel right at home. The food was exactly what we needed: comforting and full of flavor. The vegetable soup was absolutely delicious, the lamb cotoletta was tender and perfectly cooked, and the tagliatelle and swordfish rolls were just fantastic. On top of all that, the prices were the best we found in Taormina — great quality without the tourist mark-up. I only wish we had found this place sooner! Highly recommended.

Have visited Trattoria Vicolo, Castelmola each time we’re in Taormina. Each time the food has been very good. Today I ordered Spaghetti Carbonara. If you’re expecting the rich source type of Carbonara then you might be very well surprised. It’s the genuine kind of Carbonara here. That you should expect in Sicily. For desert we shared Semi Freddo. It was really good! It’s made the period around Christmas. My wife ordered the Vegetable Soup. Once again it was very tasty, couldn’t be happier. The service was very good, no real surprise though. It’s worth the bus trip from Taormina to try this place.

Nestled in an alley behind the cathedral in Taormina, Restaurant Rosso Peperoncino offers a delightful dining experience without the hefty price tag of other establishments with a view. The menu features delectable dishes such as ravioli with ricotta, almonds and pistachio, and orange salad with leeks. The family-run business boasts a beautiful garden setting and attentive service.
A romantic restaurant in the old city. The menu includes both seafood and meat, salads, pastas, desserts. I chosed gnocchi with shrimp and basil. The food was delicious, the portion - sufficient. The other choice was calamari rings. The portion was not so big, but enough. The service was kindly and quite fast. We did not make a reservation in advance, but for the evening - I would recommend making a reservation better.

Best meal we had in Taormina, we ended up going 2x! Across our 2 meals we ordered the shrimp gnocchi, meatballs, shrimp pesto spaghetti, carbonara, red prawn appetizer, cassata, tiramisu and we were not disappointed with a single dish! The ambience is amazing. It’s a garden restaurant right off the busy street and felt very relaxing. Wish we would have come here more often especially & will miss this restaurant. Highly recommend!

Very lovely restaurant tucked away off of a main side street. We would have never found this lovely place without the help of a local guide. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous, with a lovely terrace as well as indoor area. The food was very well done and the wine was very good. Prices are reasonable, especially given the high quality. Highly recommend this restaurant for dinner or lunch.

Villa Zuccaro Pizzeria in Taormina is a charming restaurant located in a 17th-century villa with a leafy patio. The venue, near Piazza Duomo and Porta Catania, offers a spacious dining area suitable for pleasant evenings or special events. With over fifty different pizza flavors on the menu, it's an ideal spot to enjoy Sicilian dishes and pizza.
One of the best pizza restaurants we’ve been in Sicily. We ordered Le Due Sicilie, with crispy bacon that made the pizza unforgettable. Both the indoor and outdoor areas are cozy, and you can even watch pizzas being baked in the stone oven outside. Service was very quick and the staff lovely. They have clean facilities too. Definitely worth seeking out, tucked in its little corner of Taormina.
Emre Ö — Google review
Had to try the pizza due to all the great reviews and it didn’t disappoint (too much). Loved the crisp of the crust and the toppings were so good (salami, sausage, sun dried tomatoes, cheese). The only criticism is the sauce which could have been more flavorful. We’ve been eating pizzas in Italy for two months now and this was our first in Sicily, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. We also got the eggplant parmigiana and that was fantastic. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for some good pizza.
Eric T — Google review
We stayed near Taormina and were really craving pizza, so we went to Villa Zuccaro on a recommendation. At first, we thought we had walked into a tourist trap: the village is stunning but absolutely packed with visitors, parking is tricky, and the restaurant itself was huge and full of tourists. That said, service was quick and efficient, the menu was very varied, and the pizzas were excellent — tasty, well made, and exactly what we were looking for. Prices were fair too. By the time we left, the place was filling with locals, which reassured us that it’s not just a tourist spot but also popular with Italians. Overall, a solid choice if you’re in Taormina and craving really good pizza.

Remarkable place. Some of the best pizza we’ve ever had. Gorgeous setting. It’s also really cool seeing them make pizzas in the outdoor oven. Extremely affordable too. Most pizzas are between €15 and €20.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a fantastic dinner at Villa Zuccaro in Taormina! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is attentive and friendly. There’s a great selection of local beers, and the starters were delicious and generous. The Neapolitan-style pizza was outstanding – perfectly baked and full of flavor. To finish, the tiramisu was flawless and the white chocolate mousse an elegant treat. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic food and excellent service in Taormina!

My husband and I came here via cruise ship bus transfer from Messina and are so glad we did! We only had about 3 hours in town, and eating pizza was one of our goals! We were the only customers when we arrived at opening time for lunch. Service was prompt and we were allowed to sit outdoors in the shade. We ordered 1 white and 1 red pizza. They were both delightfully crispy and fluffy and flavors delicious. We enjoyed the red one more because we prefer the tart tomato flavor. We wish we had more time to stay and eat more in town, but unfortunately had to go back to our cruise ship. We still think about this pizza from time to time.

The staff are welcoming and friendly. We had a big group with little kids. They served us very well. We all ordered pizza. The crust is thin and crisp. I love Villa Zuccaro pizza with a touch of truffle.

One of Taormina’s top-rated pizza spots, and for good reason. The setting is beautiful, with a charming courtyard centered around a massive wood-fired oven. Inside, the oven has a stone turntable that slowly rotates each pizza for even baking, a mesmerizing touch that shows real craftsmanship. Pizzas come uncut, as locals prefer to eat them with a knife and fork. The crust was exceptional. It had pillowy edges with a light crunch on the surface and a tender, chewy interior. Perfectly blistered and full of flavor. A great spot for a relaxed evening in Taormina with authentic Sicilian pizza done right. Highly recommend grabbing a table in the courtyard to watch the oven in action.

Amazing food, service, and beautiful view! Their seafood is served fresh catch of the day. You get the option to choose your fish, crab, or lobster if you please. My daughter ordered steak over salad and she loved it. I ordered cavatelli with prawn and OMG it was so delicious and you can taste the freshness of the prawn. We also didn’t realize that this restaurant was Michelin selected until we left and saw the sign. 10/10 would recommend!

Really liked this place. Went there Summer 2024. Cruise ship excursion to Taormina. Had very limited time before we had to get back to the tour bus. We were rushed, we were sweaty from the broiling heat, famished and thirsty, we looked like crap. Moment we stepped in, we embarrassing told the Maitre D of our time constraints. He assured us that we will be taken care of. Very friendly, very soft spoken. He had a lot of grace when bringing us our food. Recommended well. We still talk about the crab pasta till this day. A little too much dill, but it's unmistakably crabby. We didn't take the lobster, as it's of abundance where I live. The shrimp and tuna were clean tasting, and sweet. The red shrimp pasta was memorable too. Didn't have time to try their desserts. View out the balcony was postcard beautiful.

A very good restaurant in the heart of the city! We loved it! Service was great! First presentation was a very polite lady! A German accent speaking Italian! Also the waitress were great! We were served with very good food paired with a good etna wine, in a great atmosphere outdoor at the stairs of the restaurant, in background we could hear nice instrumental live music (by the cocktail bar at the square)!

My husband and I enjoyed an amazing dinner, quality champagne and wonderful views. Yes, it is pricey but the food and service was absolutely worth it. We will certainly return for another romantic experience.

The fish baked in salt is something that you dream of. The flavor and texture were amazing. The fresh crab pasta was top notch. The tuna tartare was great. You can’t go wrong.

Nice atmosphere and service, but the Tagliata we ordered was really terrible, wrong cooking, cold temperature, pale and barely seared, with some green leaves thrown in with no grace at all

Excellent place in Taormina for a nice and romantic dinner. Make sure you request a table in the balcony to have a great view of the Piazza. Food was very delicious.

Even though it's right in a tourist area, it's definitely not a tourist trap. You can get beautiful views if you arrive early and get the balcony. The food is very good, extremely fresh seafood. Prices are high.
