The video explaining the architecture of Château de Beynac was excellent. The accompanying app provided an audio guide and the narrative about Queen Eleanor and her son, King Henry, enriching the experience. The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking, offering a unique perspective reminiscent of the monarchy, where you feel as if you’re overlooking the entire land, inspiring a sense of responsibility to protect it. From this vantage point, you can also see the nearby Castelnaud-la-Chapelle Castle. The entrance fee is quite reasonable, making this visit even more worthwhile. Highly recommend!

Château de Beynac is stunning—basically the Beyoncé of castles. The views will wreck you (in a good way), and the stairs will leave you breathless along with the view. Worth it. Also, the castle was basically for a woman who had two husbands bc she could. Iconic

The most amazing Château we have been to yet! Well worth the trip, just make sure you park up top and not on river like we did. It's a very steep, but beautiful walk up the path if you want some exercise tho.

One of the most impressive castles in the Périgord. Majestic, its location remains breathtaking and its panorama exceptional. Indeed, this incredible medieval fortress, perched on its golden cliff, overlooks the Dordogne River from over 150 meters above sea level. A true movie set ! A tour of the castle will take you from the 12th-century keep to the majestic Salle des Etats, ending at the top of the Éperon Tower, where you'll overlook the valley just as the Beynac family, to whom the building belonged for nearly 1,000 years, did. From there, the view over the Valley of the Five Castles is superb ! When leaving the castle, we've visit the church, whose stately lodge is open to the public.

What an incredible castle. This ancient castle sits above the Dordogne Valley with an ancient 12th century village on the surrounding hillside. No guides, just enjoy at your own pace. A must see if you are in the area.

Also a lovely presentation,  excellent cooked vegetables, good sauce, large pave of beef, cooked medium,  a little tough for my teeth, still enjoyable. We are Spanish travelers who made a stop at this restaurant during our trip. It’s worth mentioning that we arrived a bit late, and while we’re thankful they served us despite that, the service from one of the waitresses a girl with curly hair, was quite unpleasant. The food, however, was very tasty and well-prepared. There were 5 of us, and we ordered 3 dishes to share since the portions looked generous. Still, two of us were charged an extra €5 just for having individual plates to share the food, which we found excessive and we weren’t informed about it beforehand. In short: great food, but the service and some policies could definitely improve.

This place was amazing! We made a one night before reservation for 18 people. Not only were they able to accommodate us, the service felt genuine and family like. We had 8 children and 10 adults that spoke little French, but we felt so welcomed. The food was spectacular! Even the picky eater children were happy with the food and the small play area. If you are looking for the best restaurant in the area, this is it!

We had dinner as a couple. Cassoulet tasted really good. Ribs tasted too smokey and were a little tough unfortunately. Also only 3 ribs (not even a "rack") for the price is not super fair. Dessert was ok, not really special.

Adequate and overpriced. €81 per night for b&b. Empty shower sachets left in shower from last visitor. Shower door didn’t close. Shower head full of lime scale so I had to clean it. Not enough hangers. Only one small drawer in the bedroom. No bedside tables. Had to request additional soap and shampoo as they were not refilled after use. WC wobbled when sat upon. Sink tap full of limescale so I got soaked when using it, had to scratch off the limescale. Breakfast was adequate if a little unadventurous. Coffee was good.

Beautiful situation in the countryside with a beautiiful terrace view and a clean swimming pool. Breakfast was also outstanding with all baked produce produced in-house. !0 homemade jams available plus yughurt and rice pudding (delicious). Restaurant was relayed to me by other guests as also excellent. However rater tired in appearance and decor, bu comfortable. Considerable investment is required to add Air Condidtioning and redecorate the rooms in a mor appropriate style, currents held in the 1970's. Overall a memorable stay.

We recently stayed a week here on a work trip from the UK. Both my colleague and I felt unwelcome in the hotel. Strangely we were not once invited to book a table for dinner at the restaurant. The rooms were VERY basic; I was satisfied with mine but my colleague had to change rooms as the shower did not work. I would not return here out of choice. Looking at other reviews of the hotel, it seems that French customers are generally happy with the place, whereas anyone from abroad leaves lower ratings. This doesn't surprise me at all—there was little attempt for the hotelier to converse with us; certainly our French was better than her English, but we felt our mistakes were smirked at when we made attempts to have conversation.

This walk back into ancient history was fascinating. It has been very well done and if you take the time to read the guide as you go around then you can really visualise how life must have been. Incredible that the farm was lived in until recent times!

At first sight it doesn’t look very attractive but the terrace, food and view are all surprisingly good. So if you are in the mood for traditional french cuisine, take a visit.

Rooms clean and simple, great view from all windows and very delicious breakfast with home made pastries and a variety of fruit jams.

The fois gras is exceptional. The main course was delicious. Desserts were sweet and tasty.

An ABSOLUTELY impressive multi faceted immersive experience!! Not to be missed! The whole castle from room to room offered museum quality examples of weapons armour. A few areas had repeating audiovisual stories about construction of siege equipment, and how to make armour. One area was a theatre. There was a live blacksmith , a person who explained and fired a trebuchet. Another explained weapons use and gave kids some basic sword training using props. Probably the best EVER historic site I’ve been to !! Well worth the money and drive to see!!

Very beautiful castle, especially recommended for a visit with children! In the various exhibition rooms, in addition to the elements on display, there were also small Playmobil exhibitions, so that the children could also enjoy the visit! The only thing I didn't like so much, and that's not the castle's fault, was that in winter only one restaurant was open, the one right next to the castle, and unfortunately they weren't good and a bit expensive for what you get. A rewarding view and experience for a slightly hard uphill hike. Can drive up, but part of the experience is the walk up! The restaurants around the top are really terrible so I'd suggest either bringing a picnic or going back down to eat.

Very nicely renovated castle, put into a very good state. The self walking tour is fun. Amazing views of the river valley as well.

To me, this is a castle and not a chateau. Therefore don't expect fancy furniture and artwork. However, if you like your medieval weapons, then this is a good place to visit.

It is not the normal tourist restaurant under the castle, but an excellent restaurant, with traditional dishes and an excellent house wine. Have lunch here before going up to the fortress.

We don't normally go to restaurants near tourist attractions but the location in this case was beautiful and we were running out of time to have a meal in the normal lunch period of the day. What a pleasant surprise!! The setting is gorgeous with a view of the chateau. The service was very prompt and the burgers that we ordered were delicious... and the wickedly indulgent ice cream plate that we shared! Recommended.

The food was burned or overcooked, and prepared poorly (we had the center and top of a tomato in our burger). It wasn’t disgusting or unsanitary or anything truly bad, just disappointing and bland. The service was great and the place is pretty, but the person I was eating with got pooed on by a bird while eating, and another bird touched his hair, because there was food left out for them beside the table. I wouldn’t leave a review if this place didn’t have 4.5/5 stars and if it wasn’t so expensive, but at this price point I feel like I may have fallen pray to a tourist trap. All the other meals we had in the past week of Perigord gastronomy have been phenomenal. This restaurant was the only big mistake.

A beautiful castle fort town setting, with great food and service. The burger is in the top 3 I've ever tasted and salad du Joe very tasty. Reasonably priced also.

Excellent service. Very relaxed atmosphere but very professional. The burger was amazing. The salade du Jo was also top class. If I was staying longer in the area, I'd be at Les Tilleuls every evening.

A magnificent location with wonderful views, an incredible sculpted garden and plenty to explore. We took an afternoon to get our and enjoy some nature after a few days of taking in the well known historical sites in the area. It was a fine weather day, and we very much enjoyed a leisurely afternoon in these grounds. The views are far reaching, the paths calming and very well maintained, and called off with a nice restaurant just above the entrance or, along the patna ways, a creperie. The chateau in the grounds was an unexpected highlight, with some interesting history and several displays about the link between the owner and the illustrator of the Michelin Man. A must see for all

A wonderful part of the Dordogne. There is plenty of parking and the approach to the manor house gives you an idea of the creativity of the gardeners who shape the box hedges into fantastic arrangements. The walk along the ridge has quite a few pathways and also some fun things for kids. It is a long walk and so many vistas to explore. The restaurant is good but pricey. €6.50 for a finger of lemon juice in a glass and a jug of water. It’s was refreshing though.

Brilliant gardens. Nice house and wonderful views over the Dordogne River and valley especially from the Belvedere viewpoint. Wonderful sights of wild cyclamen (it was autumn) throughout.

This was so much fun! Kids loved the adventure of the paths lined with hedges too. Felt like something out of a story book. This was pram accessible the whole way too. Some parts easier than others. We had ice cream and coffee at the tea house and it was delicious.

Fabulous gardens. Great views of the countryside. Plenty of exercise, bring water bottles. My ten year old daughter loved it, treated it like an adventure to discover hidden areas, and wants to go back next year. Once you've admired the topiary go into the chateau to watch a video about the gardners' work.

Very beautiful, calm place. A bit pricy though - 12,9 per person. But one can spend there couple of hours or more.

We went anticipating a 1-2 hour visit. My partner and children (4 and 8) ended up spending most of the day there while I went to deal with an issue with our car that took much longer than expected. No one complained because there was so much to see and do! The only tips: the rock climbing wall for children is only in the AM, the via ferrata requires fully closed shoes (eg. Not Keens), and children requiring two accompanying adults.

This is was rated 4.1 when we went. Far too low for this restaurant and much better than other places with a higher rating in the area. Had an excellent bottle of wine and a really decent quality meal, especially given the price. Was very busy and staff were still very friendly. Would revisit.

Wow, we haven't had such great food in a restaurant for such a long time! Friendly waitresses and chef, spotlessly clean and very nice set up. The Coq au vin is one of the best things in France. We will definitely be going to this restaurant again...... thoroughly recommend and fantastic value!

If you think about the perfect tourist trap in a nice setting.. that is the one! Silly prices 10e a beer!! perfect rip off. Food is mediocre, pâté with no taste in Dordogne! A joke really. Service is ok but manager at check out is unfriendly. The meat displayed on the cabinet by the till will suffice to make you vomit! So if you would like to enjoy quality food at a resannable prices go else where..

The food is pretty ok, but the service is very poor, even a bit unfriendly. Two grumpy waitresses don't bother to welcome you, don't know how to serve with a smile and they throw the drinks and food on the table without any care. If you don't ask for bread and water, you don't get it, let alone trying to even get some attention to ask for it! Plenty of other options in the area, so better skip this place, who's best asset is the nice view on the castle (if you are lucky enough to sit on the outside of the terras).

Absolutely a perfect place to go: -the welcome was super friendly, and all three waitresess/waiters where very observant and kind. -wine and food very tastefull, and at that price, a true bargain. -mood and setting... one word describes it perfectly: unpretensious. An atmosphere of joy, and lots of local people dropping in, greeting each other The food are varieted, so something for everybody. Remember to order sidedishes for the meat courses. Still very well priced.

We went on the tour of the brewery and they were very accommodating and had a translator from French to English so we could communicate. It was very fun and they answered all our questions. We then went for drinks and a lovey meal. We would highly recommend both the brewery and restaurant.
