Waterfalls
Salt de Sallent in Rupit is a stunning 328 ft. waterfall that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding canyon. Accessible via a forest trail, it's the highest waterfall in Catalunya and provides an opportunity to take a refreshing dip in its fresh water. Nearby attractions include the ermita de Santa Magdalena, Saint Joan de Fabregues Church, and Sant Andreu de Pruit Church, each offering impressive panoramas.
Amazing views from the waterfall. Unique nature. Very calm place. When i was there it was very cloudy day and half of the time of the trip i didnt realize where i am.

It's about a 30-minute walk from the parking area of the charming town of Rupit. The trail is easy and beautiful—like something out of a fairy tale. When you reach the waterfall, the scenery is truly spectacular. Don’t miss it!
Bui N — Google review
The small walk is definitely worth it! It's 30 min from the parking lot (for the parking you pay for the amount of hours you spent there) and it's quite easy, no need for any special shoes, although sneakers are better than sandals. Not too many people. The views are spectacular, I did not expect it to be as breathtaking. There are some other routes you can take. We also met a very nice park ranger keeping eye on everything going on:)
Alter E — Google review
We visited this place on the 19.08.23 starting in a quaint little town called Rupit. We just parked there and walked to the waterfall area which is about a 40 min walk one way. I did it flip flops which was no problem for me, but a pair of runners would be the smarter thing to take. You are mostly walking on normal paved roads and towards the end, it's a little more off-track. The scenery is beautiful but due to the dry weather there was no water which was very disappointing. I would still recommend it all the same. After we got back, we crossed a lovely little hanging bridge that brings you over to Rupit where there are numerous little restaurants. We didn't eat anything... just had a quick look around.
Lou — Google review
We went at a time when the waterfall wasn’t fully flowing, but the view was still incredible. We were there about 3 hours before sunset and it was truly beautiful.
Bruno M — Google review
This was a gorgeous hike. Parking in the town is limited. There are lots of people on thr trail. Water levels were low when we were there, but the views were still gorgeous. No restrooms, lots or dogs on trail. The village of Rupit was gorgeous.
Emily L — Google review
Is amazing. There is a font to drink on the way
Kristopher G — Google review
Sorry I can't find exact waterfalls. It's very difficult to find with through this Google map. The map stop showing middle of the road and I stop my car middle of the road ask person who passing that time nobody dont know this waterfalls. I think awaited for more than a hour and return back to my place. I'm willing to visit but..

The Església de Sant Joan de Fàbregues, a well-preserved Romanesque church, can be reached via a narrow road from Rupit. It is approximately a 10-minute car ride away. Although there may be occasional closures and the nearby restaurant could also be closed, it is still worth visiting to admire its exterior and appreciate the breathtaking panoramic view it offers.
What a wonderful place to have a peaceful lunch time with my family. The place is in the middle of nowhere, very peaceful, only hear the birds. Full of mountain all around. The foods are excellent, so delicious. Love this place.

(Translated by Google) It's a restaurant where its new Ukrainian owners prepare typical Catalan cuisine with considerable dignity. Ana runs the business, along with two assistants with little experience but a lot of dedication. Ana constantly explains the dish, where the meat comes from, how it's prepared, and the ingredients. They use high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. They grill meats, although it didn't seem like real charcoal to me, but rather electric. The restaurant itself isn't very large, but it's very cozy, clean, and interesting. The patio/terrace offers stunning views. Smoking is allowed, and dogs are welcome. I personally will definitely return. I'm still waiting for their entrecote! Thanks, Ana, for such great service! El lugar como restaurante,no es muy grande, pero muy acojedor, limpio, curioso y el patio/terraza,con unas vistas impresionantes. Se puede fumar y aceptan la entrada de perros. The coolest little area in all of Rupit. A tiny, ancient, creepy stone church perched between a cliff and magnificent views of the town built into the rock. I need to stay the night in Rupit some year just so I can walk up there in the dark and be totally creeped out!

Absolutely amazing dinner in the countryside close to Rupit. I loved the rural Catalan dishes, with an Ukrainian touch. Our favourite dishes were the Ukrainian soup, pèsols con botifarro, the grilled lamb and the pigs cheek. The waiter was incredibly warm and personable. An unforgettable experience!

Stayed with friends and visited this beautiful place. When we arrived at the house, we were amazed by how beautiful, cozy and thoughtful everything is. You can see that the owners really care about their guests. The hosts prepared us local dishes: meat, peppers, hamon and potatoes. They have a restaurant right on the grounds where the apartments are, and you can order such homemade food. It was very tasty and the atmosphere comfortable, home with beautiful views of nature. The hosts were from Ukraine. Hence and such a warm, almost family reception. In general, I am absolutely delighted. We are all delighted. It was one of the best trips in recent times. I recommend it to everyone.

Bridge
In the charming town of Rupit, Catalonia, stands the iconic Pont Penjat, a wooden suspension bridge that spans over the Riera de Rupit. Initially constructed in 1945 by local residents, it serves as a pathway connecting two parts of the town. Visitors are advised to take caution when crossing as it's recommended not to have more than 10 people on the bridge at once. The area around the bridge offers picturesque spots for photography enthusiasts.
### Pont Penjat - Rupit Village: A Hidden Gem You’ll Love! 🌟 If you’re exploring Catalonia, don’t miss **Pont Penjat** (the Hanging Bridge) in **Rupit Village**—it’s like stepping into a storybook! 📖✨ Here’s why I loved it: - **The bridge itself:** This wooden suspension bridge is a fun little adventure! 🎢 It wobbles as you cross (in the best way!), making it a hit for kids and adults alike. Perfect for snapping unique photos. 📸 - **Scenic surroundings:** Once you cross, you’re greeted by the charming, cobbled streets of Rupit Village. 🏞️ The old stone houses, flower-lined balconies, and peaceful vibes make you feel like you’ve gone back in time. - **Family-friendly vibe:** Very cozy and welcoming. Kids will love the bridge and exploring. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 - **Hikes nearby:** You’ll find some great trails, especially if you’re up for the short hike to **Salt de Sallent** (the stunning waterfall nearby). 🚶‍♂️💧 - **Food & rest:** Plenty of rustic cafés and restaurants serving traditional Catalan dishes. Don’t skip the local cured meats or “coca de Rupit” (a type of sweet bread). 🍽️ 💡 **Tips:** - Wear comfy shoes for the cobblestone streets. 👟 - It gets busy on weekends, so go early if you prefer fewer people. 🕘 - Parking can be tricky—arrive prepared for a short walk to the village. 🚗 A perfect spot for a relaxing day full of charm, history, and nature! 🌿

Very nice hanging bridge, but a bit too shaky for its length. A wonderful way to enter Rupit. Note there are stairs that go down to the river, so if someone in your group doesn't feel like crossing the bridge, they can go below. Also that's a great way for them grab some great pictures of you crossing the bridge!

Nice place for an IG photo if there is no one around! The bridge itself is a bit wobbly and they recommend no more than 10 ppl on at a time. The views from the bridge is mid.

Can Pau Xic

Historical landmark
As you reach a fork in the road, take a left and look up to see the beautiful sight of the first rocks just above the houses. Continuing to the left, you'll come across Can Pau Xic, a 17th-century house included in Catalonia's Architectural Heritage Inventory. This rustic stone-built house is a remarkable sight with its elevated entrance accessed by a staircase and torches on the left-hand side.

Castell de Rupit

4.5
(40)
Historical landmark
Castell de Rupit, dating back to the X century, is believed to be the origin of the village of Rupit. Surrounded by some of the oldest houses in the village, it offers a glimpse into history and can be seen from a distance. While only a piece of wall remains today, climbing through the streets provides a stunning view of Rupit. The town itself exudes charm with its unique features like rocks atop some houses.
Feel less like a tourist site and more like stumbling across a medieval secret at the top of a sleepy village. The climb up is short but gives you those storybook views of stone houses, cliffs, and forests that make you wonder why you don’t just move there and raise goats. There isn’t much castle left—just fragments and a viewpoint—but the atmosphere is pure magic, especially if you catch it at sunset with nobody else around.

The town of rupit is very nice but the castle itself is really just a wall at this point! I still recommend coming to the town and walking around because the architecture is very beautiful, rustic and medieval and overall super charming.

The Church of Saint Michael in Rupit showcases a blend of Baroque and Neoclassical styles, with elements dating back to the Romanesque era. The church is home to the 1633 altarpiece of Sant Esteve, which was originally located in another church before being acquired by the parish of Rupit. While it's unfortunate that access to the interior may be limited at times, visitors can still catch a glimpse through its glass door.

However, I find it unfortunate that they force you to pay €2 to enter outside of mass hours, saying that they charge admission and that they have a single rate of €2 that includes going up to the bell tower. It's not because of the price, it's because of the fact that if you want to enter the church to pray outside of mass hours, you have to pay admission. ABUSE. It emerged as a branch of the Church of Sant Joan de Fàbregues (until 1878, when Rupit was granted parish status). In the late 13th and early 14th centuries, it was dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel. The bell tower was later built (1786-1869). The main altarpiece is Baroque, the work of the Costa brothers in 1633. It is dedicated to Saint Stephen, patron saint of the city of Olot, where he was venerated until 1828, when it was purchased by the parish of Rupit, where it was installed in 1830. Our family (12pax) went to Fonda Marsal to celebrate the 65 years of my oncle this weekend. The rooms were cosy and the food was good (typical catalan, like if our grandmother was cooking!). The hotel facilities are correct, they even have a common area with a fireplace, perfect to play table games after dinner. Besides that the staff was great, friendly and helpful.
Elisabet P — Google review
This is a review for the restaurant, not the hotel ran on same premises. Rather big, canteen style, not that cosy large restaurant space, with amazing mountain village views if you sit close to the windows. Service very poor and messy, takes forever to place and order leave alone for food to arrive. My small green salad bland/undressed, beans that came with sausage, completely unseasoned, watery, with brine coming onto the plate, all very unpleasant. The sausage, the only half decent tasting thing served to me that day - at least it tasted of something - was well overcooked and dry. I would avoid this restaurant.. 2 stars only because of lovely views out of the windows, and local artist being profiled, with his paintings on the walls.

The dining experience at Restaurant Ca l'Estragués in Rupit, Catalonia was highly enjoyable. The restaurant offers delicious homemade Catalan cuisine with excellent value for money. We were a group of five and indulged in a variety of dishes such as the embutidos de Rupit to share, duck with mushrooms, casserole rice, and entrecote. The desserts were also delightful. At approximately 22 euros per person, the prices were reasonable.

We were 4 people at peak hour without reservation, but they prepared a table for us on their balcony overseeing the bridge. The owner himself attended us and was so funny and attentive that it would've made the whole meal worth it! But on top of that, the food was great: you have to try the leek empanada and the meat grill (specially the black sausage). The dulce the leche was splendid as well. We'll come back for sure!
Clara A — Google review
If you vegetarian DO Not go! The worst vegetarian plate I,ve ever seen. We were one meat eater and 2 vegetarians. I think the meat was fine. We ordered from 2 menus. The main dish was stir fried vegetables in a lot of oil, onion, peppers and carrots accompanied by crisps. This was the main dish on 16.80 menu!! We had a salad as a starter. On the 21.80 menu I ordered 'panache de verduras' which was like a vegetable lasagne without the pasta, basically vegetables in a tomatoe sauce with cheese. We ate very little of both vegetarian dishes!! Starter of empanada was fine as was my pannacota dessert. Check the bill when you leave,we were overcharged but this was rectified.Rupit is beautiful but I will never go back to this restaurant.
