Missoula in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Missoula, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Missoula pairs a lively university-town atmosphere with easy access to Montana’s mountains, rivers, and forests. Visitors can float or fish the Clark Fork and Blackfoot Rivers, hike or bike nearby trails, and in winter reach several ski areas within a short drive. The walkable downtown features historic brick buildings, locally owned shops, craft breweries, and a strong arts and live-music scene. Museums, galleries, and seasonal festivals add cultural variety to this otherwise outdoors-focused destination.
With favorites like GILD, Hana, and Mustard Seed, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Veera Donuts and Le Petit Cafe so you can get the best taste of Missoula while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Shopping mall
Southgate Mall is a bright and unassuming shopping center that boasts an array of popular brand-name stores, dining options, and even a cinema. As the largest retail mall in western Montana, it offers over a hundred stores and services including department stores, boutiques, specialty shops, and various dining choices ranging from Greek and Italian cuisine to coffee and frozen yogurt. The mall also features a salon and spa for those seeking relaxation.
I Love Missoula Montana! Even it's mall is 😎 cool!
Steve M — Google review
I frequently visit the Southgate Mall and wanted to share some feedback regarding the security. There seems to be only one unarmed guard on duty each day, which feels insufficient for a mall of this size. Additionally, I noticed the woman who appears to be the security manager spending a significant amount of time engaging in non-work-related activities. She was often seen walking around holding hands with a little girl, chatting with kiosk workers, watching videos on her phone, or relaxing in the massage chairs. While I understand the importance of being approachable, this behavior raises questions about professionalism and the ability to respond effectively in case of an emergency. I believe the mall would benefit from having more security personnel on duty and ensuring that the team remains focused and vigilant while on shift. A stronger security presence would not only make visitors feel safer but also help maintain a more professional environment. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as I truly want Southgate Mall to be a safe and enjoyable place for everyone.
Chris K — Google review
I use to enjoy going to the mall. It was a place where I can get lost in and forget about reality. What ruined it for me was the shoe cleaning people. They don’t understand that no means no and I don’t want my shoes to be cleaned. I understand that everybody has to make money somehow but come on. The mall needs to get on top of this ASAP!!! Overall the mall experience has been amazing. I’ve been coming here ever since I was a little kid. It’s just the fact that I don’t like to be bothered by those shoe cleaning people. Take their business somewhere else
James G — Google review
It's cool to me to see a mall anymore. There aren't as many as there used to be. This one is pretty awesome. Bigger then it looks from the outside and has plenty of stores to shop in. Definitely worth checking out.
Shaun P — Google review
Very nice, clean mall with 3 large anchors, Dillard's. Scheels and H&M. AMC movies and plenty of restaurants as well. Good security presence and safe, well lit lots. Great women's athletic brands Athleta and Lululemon on site as well as Victoria's Secret with a Pink for both athletic gear and great fitting lingerie!
Valerie S — Google review
Nice place! The stores are good, some eclectic in a good way. Compared suburban malls in larger Cities, this place is GREAT! It’s well maintained. It’s been updated recently. It’s activated by lots of happy people. It appears to be thriving. And, the stores are pretty darned good. Entirely in a good way, it has the feel of a mall like they did in the 1980s-1990s - but it’s contemporary/updated to current standards. If you’re waiting on “a shopper” and like history, go check out the historical photography of Missoula. There are 50+ large format high quality framed fotos in at least one of the corridors/hallways to the bathrooms. They’re far better and cooler than one might expect. I spent 20+ minutes enjoying them. Two more points: - The best massage I’ve found in Missoula is here in this mall. - The Isle of Misfits is my kids favorite toy store in the US (much better even than FAO Schwarz in NYC!¡!)
Steve K — Google review
Good mall. It has shoes, clothes, hobby stuff, lots of perfume, cookies, pretzels, sushi, lots of stuff. Oh and ride on wheeled animal things, really fun for kids. Arcade, fun shirts with sayings, and more!
Michal H — Google review
Nice little mall with a few food options. They don’t seemed bothered with people brining their dogs through the main area so that is a nice touch.

Water & Amusement Parks
Public swimming pool
Splash Montana is a popular and family-friendly water park located just a short distance from the city center. It's only open during the sunny summer months and offers a variety of attractions including winding waterslides, outdoor pools, a lazy river, fun floats for kids, shallow sections, and spray features. Despite its small appearance from the outside, it becomes an exciting destination on hot days with its waterslides, Olympic pool, kids' area, and lazy river ride.
For $9 you can swim, slide, float and sit in different pools. They have adult swim Tues and Thurs evening. Bring your own lock for the lockers. People do cover all the chairs with their stuff, so don't expect a chair. It was clean and in good repair.
Danielle L — Google review
I was here for the Adult Night. Not too crowded, no waiting time for the slides and enough loungers for everyone. Definitely a younger crowd though.
Lola K — Google review
We had a long vacation decided to stop and let the kids play, this place was very relaxing and kid friendly.
Rob H — Google review
This place is fantastic. The lazy river is lots of fun, there was plenty of space in the pool for everyone. The pretzel's are gross but the pizza was alright. Soda's are nasty. But the Splash/Pool experience was fantastic and the staff amazing. The life-gaurds are attentive and switch out often, which gave me confidence to not "hover" over the older kids and allow them to just play. Loved it, and will definetely be back.
Nats — Google review
This place is awesome, the slides are amazing. You get different varieties of each kind fast, slow and tube it's really amazing, you get a lazy river, a deep pool for diving and jumping, and a Kiddie pool for the littles, so it's really fun to get to see everyone, be able to bond together in this pool experience, I recommend this I recommend the family pass if you want to go all summer, if not just get regular ticket goodbye.
Jackson — Google review
A great place for teens and kids. It's a pretty small park and has very little seating for the amount of people that visit it now. I remember it being pretty popular when I was a teen. Even more so now it's quite crowded, it's a lovely place but really could use an expansion.
Mik O — Google review
Affordable and fun place to go for the whole family. My family loves this place! Lifeguards are strict in ensuring everyone’s safety, regularly testing the water, and keeping up on cleanliness—I would say I’d prefer an air conditioned changing area for those hot days, but other than that, it’s definitely worth the money spent.
Heather E — Google review
I came on opening day of 2025, and was very disappointed. I have been coming to this water park since I was a very young kid, and have loved coming here all through summer. But when I came this year, I was let down. The pool was filthy, the life guards where yelling at me and my friends for frankly doing nothing (except the one at the top of the slide. He was telling jokes, giving us slide boosts. He was a chill guy) and the slides were frequently turning off making us wait longer. But worst of all was the service at the concessions. I wanted to get a pizza for my friends as this was going to be our only lunch. I waited in a short line for almost an hour, and when I finally got to the front i was told the person in front of me was the last customer and I could no longer order. Because of this in order to get lunch, I had to but a horrible slice of pizza (which was from here) of a stranger for $15. You have lost a loyal customer. FIX THESE PROBLEMS, AND HIRE BETTER EMPLOYEES!!!!!

Rockin Rudy's, known as the Original Hipster Department Store, started as a record shop in the 1980s and has since grown into a haven for unique gifts. Located in Missoula, Montana, this eclectic store offers an extensive collection of audio CDs and vinyl. With two floors filled with a wide variety of items including souvenirs, gag gifts, games, toys, natural skin care products, homeopathic remedies, candy, cards, incense and more.
Very interesting shop that has a little bit of everything. From plants, to homemade chocolates to coffee to magnets to face masks to gifts. They do not have a restroom though. Definitely a place where you inevitably spend money.

The absolute best gift store i have been too. Go check them out. They had the best assortment of stickers I have ever seen. This is on my must see list! Great employees aswell..
Eric H — Google review
We’ve stopped by this shop on a few different trips to Missoula, and it never disappoints. They always have such a fun and unique selection of jewelry, posters, health and beauty products, DVDs, everything. We've found some of our favorite vinyls, coasters, hand lotions, posters, etc. here.

So fun and nice. A great energy and smell. We always have a good time. Everytime I go with my boyfriend it turns into a date from how fun it is.

You name it they have it. Such a fun place to visit. Hours can click by and I haven’t even really begun to get into the full scope. At times I forget what I came in as many interesting things pop up playing with my concentration. It’s fun. The place to go.

Love the variety and nostalgia around every corner! There is something for everyone. Jolene (the cat) is so sweet also. I could spend a whole day in this store easily.
Sabrina T — Google review
An interesting store to stop by. Many unique items and funny products. I actually bought a t-shirt here with some cool design. More like a fun place for teen agers and college students, rather than a tourist gift shop. A parking lot is available but pretty full.
Junwoo L — Google review
I knew the store was huge and eclectic and I was still shocked at just how big and how eclectic it really is. Never quite seen anything else like it before! If you’re lucky you can pet some cats while you search for the perfect items.

Ice cream shop
Big Dipper Ice Cream is a celebrated walk-up joint in Missoula, Montana, known for its homemade ice cream scoops and shakes. Recognized as one of the best ice cream shops in the country, it offers a variety of rotating seasonal flavors like Nutella Caramel and Coconut Lemon Curry. With classic and unique flavors available, this hometown favorite has been serving up delicious treats since 1995.
This was a great stop on my sister road trip. We both ordered a cup of the huckleberry ice cream. The ice cream was very good and the service was friendly and quick as well. There were lots of places to sit outside and enjoy our ice cream.
J. C — Google review
Very tasty salted caramel at a respectable price. They do need to work on efficiency. Many folks scurrying around. Still took almost 15 minutes for 2 scoops of ice cream and less than 6 customers when I placed my order. Not good.
Not L — Google review
Yummy ice cream near restaurants, bars and camps for when you get the chilly munchies. Great flavors (had huckleberry and salted caramel), old-school walk-up ordering at the window with picnic tables to sit and enjoy the treats. Can get really busy in the evenings, but liner moves fast and with the wait! 🍨
SouTex T — Google review
The place for ice cream in Missoula. Long line when we arrived but moved quickly and efficiently. Got a huckleberry waffle cone with chocolate sprinkles which was excellent.
Nick H — Google review
The beauty and style of this place is electrically classic. I’ve never been to an establishment that had so many neon, xenon, and other elemental lamps. The ice cream itself though was fine. Better than store bought but could be better.
Snakeman4 G — Google review
Usually I like this place but tonight was just off. The problem I had was the sundaes were not the best it tasted fine but the toppings were put on the bottom and the banana was just put on the side. I know this is minor things but the presentation of food is important when I get a sundae it should look like a sundae not like ice cream with stuff on the side.

This Big Dipper is a Missoula family favorite. Loved by U of M students because of its proximity to campus, this location always is popular and busy. I liked the selections and variety. They have a great selection of ice cream. So many wonderful choices and SO GOOD!! You gotta go and have a truly wonderful ice cream treat!!🍦🍧🍨

I love ice cream, no, I looove ice cream! Whether in a waffle cone or a cup. And having a place that is open year-round is fabulous! The flavor of the huckleberry is great! The staff has been patient, friendly, and as quick as they can be. Big Dipper is great! Even with a long line, it is not a very long wait! Highly recommend it!

Brewpub
GILD is a locally-owned brewpub located in Missoula, offering a rotating selection of beers on tap. The taproom provides views of Higgins Avenue and the Hip Strip, making it a great spot to enjoy local brews. In addition to their beer selection, GILD also serves creative tacos, burritos, small plates, and entrees. The menu is complemented by an extensive wine and cocktail list.
I visited June 2025. Stopped by for lunch, the burrito was super yummy! I added chicken and it did not disappoint! This is a brewery too, I did not get any beer but it appeared they had a good selection. They serve Coke products. Atmosphere is cute, cozy, has a bar too to eat at. Parking is on street - pay before 5pm - a little hard to find parking at lunch time. I would definitely come back again after work to try their beers!
Brook S — Google review
This is an order at the counter kind of restaurant/bar. The line moved super quickly and there were plenty of seating options. I loved that they had a local cat rescue benefiting from sales the night we went (cool community involvement). I appreciated that they had non alcoholic beer options. We tried one of each of the tacos. They were all delicious, but our favorites were the chicken and poblano. The food came out very quickly and the staff was very kind.
Arija — Google review
We stopped here for a quick refreshment after floating the Clark Fort. After tasting three offerings which were lagers, I selected the Survey Says, and then my wife chose Peaks to Prairies. Both beers are made in house and I highly recommend trying them. We came at happy hour so the Pork Belly Tacos, which were fantastic or $1 off. We sat outside in the shade of the Guild building, and the atmosphere was quite enjoyable. Great service and very clean.
Greg H — Google review
Friendly, quick service. Cold decent beer (I ordered Minerva hazy). Fresh, tasty food (I ordered a corn, bean avocado salad). I sat outside with my dog. Thanks for allowing pups, by the way. Price point is fair - $14 for both items. Conveniently located downtown amid all the cool kid shops.
Jana S — Google review
Gild offers a very chill place to grab a cold one and a meal, whether at the open-air bar on the main level, in the chill lounge upstairs or downstairs in the arcade. Friendly, knowledgeable staff (shout out to Casey for his beer intel) serving up tasty brews and chews with a smile, even during a busy lunch rush. Great location in Missoula with classic view of the mountainside M. Really enjoyed the Minerva hazy (fresh and crisp) and the Close Range Blaster smash IPA (nice fruity hints without being just juice). We didn’t eat, but every meal we saw certainly looked tempting! Sit on the sidewalk and people watch, cozy up in the lounge, or just watch them work at the bar, great place to sit a while and enjoy Missoula.
SouTex T — Google review
Not listed as a brewery but they definitely brew their own beer and also have super cool flights. Just a 10 barrel system in the back he said. And they got tacos! Like just start with that lol. Homemade Montana grown blue corn tortillas too!
Doug — Google review
Absolutely loved the food here! The sauces they had for the tacos were my favorite, even have a bar! My boyfriend surprised me by going here for my very first time a few years ago, and it is a very cool spot in a great area in town to walk around and explore. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, it’s worth the stop. If you’re into old school games, such as Pac-Man and a more modernized Mexican style, I’d recommend this spot!! Plus, the bathrooms are pretty cool, as well.
Heather E — Google review
I took my twin boys and their best friends to dinner last Saturday after the Grizz game. We are from the Flathead and I have been trying to get here for a long time. I have several pinball machines, buck hunter, golden tee and 1/2 a dozen other games, we got to see the game room before but it wasn't open due to COVID. So we finally got here the food and beer is fantastic, the service was great, everyone was super helpful even though the place was busy . If you haven't been here you order from the bar and everything is brought to you but you don't have a dedicated server. So our beers and sodas we got from the bar at 7:30 and then they brought our appetizers. Then our dinner took quite a while and I was like we don't have a server and they closed the bar on the top floor, who do we ask. I finally found a guy who was super nice and said he would find out what's up. Well then minutes later they brought all of our food, actually a few things never showed but the food was excellent and we were all in great spirits so we just rolled with it, it was probably 8:45. As the boys finished their meals I told them to go play some games and my wife and I would take care of the bill...plus get two more beers for game time. About the minute I got my beer the boys came to me and said they were kicked from the game room. Surprise I found out that kids weren't allowed to play after 9. I went down asked to let us play one game but was told that that was the rules. My boys later told me they never got to play a game. The gentleman in the game room actually gave them all bags of tokens so we could come back and play. The next morning the boys had an active we planned and after we would to take them to the cookie crumble but surprisingly they said they wanted to go to the Guild. We showed up at noon on Sunday.....the game room opens at 2 which is stated on arcade hours. Ugh, well I doubt I'll ever visit the Guild again , I think it's just not meant to be. Moral to the story; the atmosphere is great the food is good beer is great but make sure you realize the game room rules. I wish someone had said "hey I see you have a bunch of teenagers and if they are here to play the game just know the game room closes to them at 9pm. And yes there is a sign there, my son saw it as we were kick out. Have fun

Donut shop
Veera Donuts is a vegan donut shop that offers a variety of both raised and cake donuts. Their menu includes classic flavors like apple fritters and old-fashioned, as well as unique creations such as the motherload with cookie dough and cookie butter, and creme brulee filled. Visitors rave about the delectable taste of these donuts, comparing them favorably to famous establishments like Voodoo Donuts in Portland.
I totally uphold the stereotype. As a former law enforcement officer please consider this an "Official Endorsement!" Alright, folks, gather 'round, because as a card-carrying, badge-wearing (okay, formerly badge-wearing, but the sentiment remains!) member of the thin blue line, I've had my share of donuts. I've seen 'em all. From the greasy spoon specials to the fancy, artisanal creations that look too good to eat (but you still do). But let me tell you, Vera Donuts? This place isn't just good; it's a public service. From the moment I walked in, I felt right at home. The aroma alone could probably solve a few cold cases – it's that inviting. And the selection? My goodness, it's like every donut dream I've ever had decided to throw a party right there in the display case. I'm talking about glazes that shine brighter than a squad car after a fresh wash, and sprinkles that could make even the toughest officer crack a smile. I went for my classic: a gigantic apple fritter!! Boom boom. And let me tell you, it was perfection. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and just the right amount of sweet. It's the kind of donut that reminds me of why I ultimately got into this line of work in the first place. I also snagged an old fashioned well, you've gotta have backup, right? And it didn't disappoint. So, to the fine folks at Vera Donuts, I salute you. You're not just making donuts; you're upholding a time-honored tradition and, dare I say, doing your part to keep the peace, one delicious, perfectly crafted ring of joy at a time. I might not be in uniform anymore, but my commitment to excellent donuts is stronger than ever. And for that, Vera Donuts, you've earned yourself a lifelong patron. Keep up the incredible work, and you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be back. Probably sooner rather than later. My sweet tooth has a standing warrant for more of your deliciousness!
Steve S — Google review
Beautiful presentstion of hand crafted donuts. Large breakfast burritos are made fresh! Vegan donuts were plentiful. The cake donuts are heavy and a bit much for my taste, but the plain ones were great. They also have a small basket with discounted day old donuts which was cool, and much more affordable.
Alura W — Google review
excellent vegan donuts and AMAZING breakfast burrito. the donuts were definitely a little hardier than most but the breakfast burrito was OUTTA THIS WORLD. i’m vegetarian and this was one of my favorite breakfast burritos ever. the best donut flavor was the french toast flavor (crunchy and delicious)
Abby R — Google review
Worst donuts I've ever had... except for the apple fritter. I had the one with raspberry and blueberry coating $5 and NO FILLING! WTH? Also, the white icing on top was so sweet. I scraped it off. The one with filling (light green) macha??? Was horrible! $13.50 for 3 boring nasty donuts??? NEVER AGAIN!!
Cathy K — Google review
I visited July 2025. And dang, I was super excited to try Veera for the first time, but so disappointed. We got the maple donut - which was good. The Ding Dong donut was very dry. The pop tart and the old fashioned blueberry were both underbaked and doughy. So disappointing. Donuts need to be baked well and they did not come through on this. Hopefully this was a one off. Hard to say if I will try them again or not.
Brook S — Google review
I prefer to drive from Corvallis when I have a craving for donuts or yummy food. They never disappoint, they're sweet treats and other foods are literally so good. I personally would have never knew it was all vegan, they even have gluten free options for their donuts too! I would always go when I was living in Missoula and working up there too (especially when I was vegan for a year). I'll always recommend this place to everyone, their employees are always so nice and cheerful.

I had to wait for somebody to realize I was there because no one was in the front. The atmosphere as great as always, this is the fourth time I’ve bought a doughnut and half of it was completely raw in the middle. I’m gonna have a very hard time going back there after this.

Bakery
Le Petit Outre, which means The Little Outrageous, is a locally owned bakery in Missoula, Montana. They offer a variety of housemade breads and pastries such as croissants and brioche. Their breads follow the traditional European baking methods and are made with just four basic ingredients: wheat flour, water, sea salt, and yeast. The bakery's hearth breads are baked on stone in a French deck oven.
Great spot for coffee and pastries. I got a coconut latte and chocolate croissant, both full of flavor. So glad our Lyft driver recommended it. It was the perfect stop on our way back home.

Best croissant ever - ham and cheese stuffed, not too much, warmed and flaky. Coffee was great too. The barrista takes great care with each drink. Staff are helpful and kind, even when my hubby was a wee bit crabby.

You need to go here if you want to try the best croissants of your life. Sure bagel croissants might be what some call generic and not creative but they’re delicious! And other bakery and coffee is delicious as well! Well worth the stop. Their playlist is great too. Very great environment to journal /‘d read while my friend wrote her paper!

I accidentally drank out of the soap dispenser bc it looks like a cool ironic bohemian water jug (see pic). Anyway, I was in distress and the staff was incredibly callous. Absolutely remarkable, I asked if it ever happened and what is in the soap, and all I got was some shoulder shrugs. Best coffee in town, but truly callous people.
Jeffery D — Google review
I'm not sure what has changed, but the breads (whole loaves) have been tasting a lot like they have a cholirne water taste. I've even purchased the bread at Orange Street Food Farm and same taste profile there too...chlorine. The baguettes especially are strong on that taste (the smell is very fine). I've never sensed this, but recently, the ingredients seem different. Bakery goods I haven't tried.
Natalia S — Google review
Our favorite local spot for a coffee and a pastry, and we often pick up a loaf of bread while we're at it! Punch cards for repeat customers means that every 10th drink is free! They also have pizza dough, which is great to pick up when we don't have time to make dough at home.

Good coffee and food, nice ambiance. Tables are small though and it can get quite loud. There isn’t any wifi so if you were hoping to get some work done, this might not be the best place for that.

This place is a bit overrated. Baristas just want to make coffee and go home. And it is too pricey. If you wear a man bun, and valkilmer scarves, and Johny Depp Bracelets, you'll fit right in. (Check out the Demo Rat, top shelf. )

Italian restaurant
Ciao Mambo is a local Italian chain known for its delicious and garlic-infused Italian dishes served in a relaxed, art-filled setting. The menu offers a variety of options, including the irresistible zeppolis (Italian doughnut holes) and scrumptious tiramisu. The restaurant provides fantastic service and a family-friendly atmosphere with various seating options. Guests can enjoy good music and a great selection of wines while indulging in tasty food, including delicious bread.
While traveling through Montana, you might suddenly find yourself in Italy! My family and I were passing through and looking for a place to enjoy a good dinner, and we decided on Ciao Mambo. We arrived about two hours before closing, the place was packed, many people were still waiting to be seated, and more kept coming in. We waited for a table for about 20 minutes. Everything we ordered was simply incredibly delicious. I grew up in Italy, and I can confidently say this is genuine Italian cuisine! Silky, delicate sauces, perfectly cooked seafood, amazing garlic bread with Parmesan that paired beautifully with the tomato soup topped with mozzarella. The staff was very friendly, and the waiters were attentive. I absolutely recommend this place and would gladly return again!

Zesty Italian with casual vibe in the vibrant area near UM. Great service from Gabby, relatively quick kitchen given the number of patrons. Apps and entrees were yummy and good portions. All around great experience, highly recommend. But get there early for first seating, or be prepared to wait for the next round as tables open up. Everyone’s having a good time so can get pretty noisy, but it’s fun happy noise! Definitely worth waiting though!

It's comfortable and interesting but not pretentious. If you can sit at the bar do so cuz you can watch the pizza makers (they also put the salads together) do their work. They toss those pizza rounds nine feet plus. Request Corrynn as your server. Good drink and food navigator. Lots of local fauna, so you know it's a local spot. Many have the stank of former Californians but give Grace. We're all strangers in a strange Land. Bon appetit!!!

We were greeted right away by a friendly hostess and quoted a 25–30 minute wait, which was accurate. Once seated, it took a little while before our server came by—around 10–15 minutes—so by that point we were ready to order everything at once. Service throughout the meal was on the slower side, and our server didn’t seem too familiar with the wine list. We also had to ask a few times for plates and glasses to be cleared. I’ve always really enjoyed this restaurant, but this visit didn’t quite live up to my past experiences. On a positive note, the bread is still as delicious as ever—though it did arrive after our appetizers this time. Hoping this was just an off night, because I’d love to have it back near the top of my list!

Food was alright, quality didn't match price. If you want italian food in Missoula this is probably your best bet. The desserts were the best part of the meal.

***Update*** Restaurant Manager Tim Burke responded immediately and reimbursed me for the wine. I appreciate how he handled the issue. Thank You! The wine menu listed a Super Tuscan for $110 so I ordered a bottle. The bottle that we received can be purchased through wine.com or at Total Wine for $27. That quite a mark-up. Not impressed.

The service has always been good. The food is usually very good. However, be prepared to catch 'em on a bad night -which I have a few times. Once they burned the garlic and pine nuts very badly. Once the meat was bad/old- smelly. It's too expensive to be served 😫 food! Also, they bring their fantastic garlic/parmesan bread with out asking, but then charge you for it.

Building is in a great location on a major street in town by the river. The restaurant is nice looking and the seating is nice. The waitress and host were good. The taste of the food was enjoyable. The service and timing of the food was as expected of a restaurant ordered off of the menu. The price per plate compared to food portion is through the roof! If you were to compare to an olive garden Italian restaurant my pasta and bread was pricey, but it tasted good.

Mustard Seed is an Asian-fusion restaurant that offers a diverse menu of Asian noodle and rice bowls, salads, wraps, and delicious in-house desserts. The restaurant has recently moved to a newly renovated space at the Southgate Mall in Missoula. Despite some mixed reviews about the new location, Mustard Seed continues to attract customers with its expansive menu and constantly evolving dishes.
Excellent food, even better customer service! - Was not sure initially when choosing this restaurant while traveling from out of state, especially with little ones who tend to be quite picky and cranky on these long trips! Our waitress Amalia took the time to individuality help each one of us decide exactly what food we wanted by perfectly explaining the menu and giving amazing recommendations for our children! Great service that you do not see very much nowadays. Clearly very good at her job and needs a raise! The wait was quick and the food was amazing! Everything you look for while exploring new places while traveling from out of state! At the end our waitress Amalia gave our kids little stickers which they thought was the coolest thing! Absolutely amazing experience and the best food I have tried yet! Will be back!!!

Everything was okay. Our waitress was great, very accommodating; they were exceptionally busy this night. We have been coming here since I was little, early 2000’s… I have been disappointed every-time I have visited since the move. Tonight was a different level. My mother and I ordered the same dish; Thai Chicken Caesar. She asked for her sauce on the side, I wanted mine mixed. This is the outcome. TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DISHES. Mine barely had chicken, barely any croutons. The sauce was only in half the lettuce, I mixed (wasn’t a problem, enjoyed that part.) but the lack of communication from the kitchen, and to think that it is okay to serve the same dishes when they look absolutely different. Once again disappointed in the food. The service has always been great.
C.R C — Google review
Well- disappointed today and sadly not the first time. The mai tai tasted terrible - like plastic with water- no pineapple or orange anywhere. Still the worst was the egg rolls. I’ve been eating here for 30 years and I think this will be my last time. Check the photos - these egg rolls were dark on the ends - raw in the middle and very oily. They were so bad we called for a manager and the photos are of their second attempt. For the price I would like something so much better. Maybe chef Ramsey should give them a refresher class? When I can make better in my own kitchen it’s time to find another restaurant. Sorry to share this - I’m just so disappointed. If the waitress would smile - that would be appreciated.

I've always loved this place. Now they are in a new bigger space in the mall. More to love. Outdoor seating area which will be great this summer. Chicken Osaka is still my favorite but their spin on Pad Thai is pretty good too. Staff was very attentive and everything was clean, warm and inviting. I can't wait to eat here again and again.... 🤤yum
Sabrina B — Google review
I had a similar experience as the egg roll people. The waitress was horrendous! She said she would be busy doing other chores and to flail my arms up and down if I wanted service. And never did she smile. We were definitely an inconvenience for her. We didn’t even know it was happy hour until we received our bill. The response from the restaurant to the egg roll situation was also horrible. You go to a restaurant w the intention that you will be paying for your meal, and tipping for service. If the bill is paid by the restaurant, the experience had to have been awful. If you’re confused, Mustard Seed, maybe you need to figure it out. Rude!
Private M — Google review
When I picked up my take-out order, the manager (whose name I did not catch) was professionally and courteously handling a difficult customer. He had his hands full and I was impressed with his composure. It wasn't until I got home (close to the restaurant) that realized the kitchen staff had forgotten my side of osaka sauce. I called & was immediately transferred to this same manager, whom I expected to offer an apology and maybe a discount. Instead, within half an hour, he was at my doorstep in his personal vehicle, hand-delivering the forgotten sauce. This restaurant has had more than it's share of challenges and drama in recent years, but as a small business owner I can tell you this man is doing it right & I wish him and the Mustard Seed all the success in the world.

We very much enjoyed our meal tonight. Great ambiance (other than the UFC stuff on the tv) and comfortable seating. Anton was a good server, not chatty but timely and accurate. We absolutely LOVED the pork ribs and lettuce wrap appetizers. The soup with wontons was okay. I wasn't used to noodles in that kind of soup but that's my fault. The Kung Pow Chicken noodles was superb! We will certainly be back and often!!! Update: Went in for a solo lunch today and was very impressed by the speed and friendliness of the server, as well as the speed and quality of the food!
Julye M — Google review
Had a mini class reunion at the Mustard Seed! The service was exemplary, the mixed drinks fabulous, and the entire place was immaculately clean! The drink of the day was the Bloody Cesar which came in a tall glass with a delectable cocktail shrimp, big green olives and a couple of other interesting looking veggies. My pals each had a couple of these and declared them spectacular! I had a huckleberry margarita and it was marvelous! Tart, tangy with just a bit of a kick! Our fourth companion had the White Russian and I tried a little sip. It was creamy, frothy, and yummy! For an appetizer we tried the seasoned pork spring rolls. I wasn't sure if I would like these or not, but it only took one bite, drenched in teriyaki sauce, to change my mind! The menu listed many traditional favorites. However, when I saw the spicy caramel chicken I knew I had to try it! I've never seen a caramel chicken recipe on any other Asian food menu and if this is an example of how to put sweet and savory together, l am all for it! On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd say it's about a 5 or 6 spicewise. The accompanying white rice was delicately, flavored, light and fluffy. I highly recommend the Mustard Seed for lunch or dinner as they have a relaxing atmosphere, superb service and excellent food!

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Caras Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Market on Front. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Caras Park, nestled along the scenic Clark Fork River in Missoula, Montana, is a vibrant hub of cultural events and outdoor activities. Throughout the year, the park hosts a variety of events such as music concerts, brewing conventions, art shows, and theater performances. It's a popular spot for kayaking on the river or enjoying a leisurely walk through downtown Missoula. Visitors can also indulge in picnics by the river while taking in live music or exploring local markets.
4.20.25: We made the 3ish hour drive from Idaho to attend Missoula's 6th Annual 420 Block Party put on by Montana State Hemp & Cannabis Festival. It was a FREE all day, all ages, event with food trucks galore offering a variety of dishes and cuisines, a ton of vendor booths selling arts, crafts, homemade goods, unique gifts, and gourmet candies/snacks, etc., and best of all LIVE MUSIC performed by 3 different bands and a live DJ set. The vibe was awesome and it was good to see so many smiling faces gathering in one place. Also, it was nice not to see a majority of overly intoxicated people stumbling around but instead seeing positive people bringing nothing but good vibes, great dancing, and in high spirits celebrating 420. Weather wasn't too kind that day but you can't really be mad at mother nature lol. I would definitely come back to Caras Park to attend this annual event. Big thank you to all who helped make this block party happen!

I really liked the rainbow aesthetic. I also liked that there was ping pong tables and corn hole areas. Also places for kids to skate and green grassy areas by the river to sit and chill. This seems like a very cool place to hang out. I enjoyed my trip there.

I love this park, but there is no parking enforcement. I am a quadriplegic who requires access to my handicapped spot. Apparently, this car was parked by a police officer working beerfest as security. Access lines are not a parking spot for anyone. Just cause I'm disabled doesn't mean I should be excluded from an event. Actions like this say that. Definitely from police/security as I'm calling them to tow this car.

Caras Park is an incredible gem in Missoula, perfectly situated along the Clark Fork River. The location and facilities are ideal for community gatherings, making it a hub of activity and enjoyment. Having lived above a similar park in a smaller city, I was particularly impressed by the cleanliness of Caras Park. I visited at 8 am on a Sunday and noticed the maintenance crew had just been through, leaving the park very clean. Urban park bathrooms can often be a concern, but here they were clean, not my above comment Despite understanding that showcase parks receive special attention, Caras Park gives no impression of falling victim to neglect or nighttime disturbances. The park is a testament to the dedication of the maintenance team and the pride of the local community. It’s a fantastic place for Missoula residents and visitors alike.

The Wilma is a historic theater located in downtown Missoula, MT, which first opened its doors in 1921. This ornate venue was built by William Simons as a dedication to his wife, Edna Wilma Simons, who was an opera singer. The building stands out as the city's first steel-framed high-rise and has become a prominent landmark with its eight-story structure.
Ahhhh, the Wilma...so many good memories, so many good shows. Such a cool venue! Even has some cushy seats in the balcony for the introverts and people who just wanna sit 😆. Take your man/woman/bother/sister/cousin/mom/dad/friends to a show there sometime! Especially if you're new to Missoula or just passing through.

Way way over crowded. Zero control of the environment. Why were there toddlers and babies at a Mexican ot show? IDK I never want to go to another show but it always seems once every ten years they get a good act. Place is clean ish, people are extremely high and drunk every show I've been to. Prices are average, parking isn't an issue even being located were it is. This show was good cause of the artist.

3.1.24: First time at this venue for a show and loved the theater like vibe--pretty open and spacious. It wasn't overly hot like most venues. I didn't feel claustrophobic and actually had room to dance to one of my favorite bands, The Elovaters. The sound was great, so kudos to the sound engineers. Security weren't rude and did a good job of just doing their job and keeping people safe. Bartenders were smiling and friendly and drinks were reasonably priced. Overall, I enjoyed this venue and would definitely travel to see another show here.

A Carousel for Missoula is a beloved local attraction and a hub for community events. It stands out as the first fully hand-carved carousel built since the Great Depression, boasting an impressive speed of nearly 8 miles per hour. With 38 hand-carved ponies and two chariots, this vibrant ride offers fun for all ages. The experience of reaching for the golden ring adds to its charm.
I love carousels. This one is well maintained and generates smiles for young, old, and young at heart! Each pony has a history, and there is a lot of history about the making of the carousel on site as well. There is a lovely little gift shop where I was able to purchase an ornament of the pony rode. It is also located next to the riverwalk, so you can take a stroll or a swim. If you're in Missoula, you should visit this place.

Beautiful carousel, but heartbreaking to see so many dead birds outside. I visited today and found three dead birds that had flown into the mirrored walls surrounding the carousel. This can’t be the first time. Mirrors confuse birds because they reflect the sky and trees, making them think they can fly through. Please, this needs to be fixed. Stickers alone won’t solve the problem. Why not invite the community to paint over the mirrors with something creative and beautiful that still keeps the carousel’s charm while saving the birds’ lives? I’ll gladly take down this review when the issue is addressed — but until then, it’s too sad to ignore.

The Notorious P.I.G. BBQ is a popular counter-serve eatery in Missoula, known for its mouthwatering selection of ribs, pulled pork, and brisket, as well as classic sides and sandwiches. The pitmaster and owner, Burke Holmes, brings his Midwest roots and love for Montana together to create a diverse menu influenced by various barbecue styles from around the country. Customers rave about the delicious slow-cooked meats that never fail to impress.
Can you find great BBQ in Montana? Yes you can! We ordered ribs and a 2 meat plate , pork and brisket, with a bunch of sides. Burnt Ends were sold out by the time we arrived. Portions were sized as expected. Everything was cooked perfectly. The baked beans were my favorite- sweet and spicy. Four house sauces on the table and I liked the sweet house sauce the best. There is dedicated parking for the restaurant on the side. If traveling nearby this is a great place to get some BBQ.

I ordered the half slab of ribs, with a side of coleslaw and deviled egg potato salad. I was also able to add a 1/4 pound of any other meat choice, and it was recommended that I try the turkey. My wife ordered the Briske sandwich and baked beans. She told me both were very enjoyable. We dined inside, however there is outside seating as well. The ribs were moist and had a fantastic flavor, the turkey was extremely moist and also had a very good smoky flavor. Final meat choice, beef brisket was tender and flavorful. I have enjoyed potato salad and coleslaw at many different restaurants, and think that this potato salad was the best, hands-down. There is a wide selection of beer offerings, craft (local) and national brands. And soft drink offerings, in cans or fountain. Our food was delivered to our table in just under five minutes.

Had an amazing experience here. The service was amazing and everybody was so nice. They take pride in all of their preparation of their meat. We ordered several different cuts to try, and although they were sold out of the burnt ends, we were not disappointed. Had an incredible experience and we recommend this restaurant to everybody.

The food was great here. I got there just before close and they were out of a lot of things which is kind of a good sign. I got the spicy brisket and the ribs. They were both bomb. The ribs were fall off the bone. I really like the sauces that they got on the table personally I like the vinegar based North Carolina. Very good barbecue I think it's probably top five in my book.

We stopped in during our visit to Glacier National Park(GNP)on our way to/from GNP. The restaurant is surrounded by plenty of off street parking right downtown Missoula. We had the Cowboy Pepper Burger and the Sirloin French Dip. Both meals were very delicious and full of flavor and we opted for the Tatar Tots as our side which was also delicious. We also had several draft beers which was very refreshing. They have a casual atmosphere with plenty of seating. We opted for their outdoor seating which was nice and sunny. Our food was served very quickly and our waitresses was nice and friendly.  Overall we had a great dinning experience.

Went in for lunch with a larger group and had a great time! Our server was very kind, attentive, and had good recommendations all around. It was on the pricey-er side for sure, though. I got a korean-inspired hot chicken sandwich that was pretty good but the home-made tater tots really steal the show!

Love this place! 45 minute wait to sit outside did not deter us from dining...we sat inside and our service was amazing. The young man waiting on us was home from Florida and he took great care of us. Our food was delicious and our beers, COLD. GRATEFUL for this meal break on our drive from Harrison, MT back to Spokane.

The food was incredible, especially the brussel sprouts, but the service was the worst I've had in a couple years. Whenever the bartender has to leave the bar during lunch time to wait tables, you know its going to be a bad time.

We’ve come to you for so many date nights and always loved the food. When my mother-in-law visited last month, the first place we took her was for a burger here. Tonight was different. I threw my back out three weeks ago, so my partner picked up our burgers. I always order medium rare and it’s usually pink and juicy, but this time everything was overcooked. The bacon was so hard it couldn’t be bitten, and the tater tots were rock solid, impossible to break apart. Gave up after three bites. The bottom of the container was a pool of grease. This was supposed to be a date night meal, but it was really disappointing. meal, but it ended up being a real disappointment. I honestly don’t think this food should have gone out without being checked first. We’ve had such great experiences before, which makes this letdown all the more surprising.

After an afternoon walking around Missoula, we worked up quite the appetite and decided to try this spot for the first time. Great choice—it did not disappoint. The hot honey chicken sandwich hit the spot perfectly, the beer list is solid, and the cocktails looked like they were crafted with real care. The menu has plenty to choose from, but do yourself a favor and get the tots—these are nothing like the ones from middle school lunch. This place is well worth a stop when you’re in town.

The waitress was okay nice, not very friendly. She only came when we didn't need her. We waited forever to order, forever for the check and then she never came back for the credit card when she saw us put it there as soon as she gave us the check. The hostess was really nice and sweet and the runner that brought out food was also a very friendly and nice. Unfortunately if they share their tips with the others they are getting cheated. None of the other employees cared to smile or act professional. The Wisconsin burger was a 3.5 out of 5. Not worth $20. The fries were good. The fried pickles were a fun new try but the batter could be better for my personal taste.

Breakfast restaurant
Restaurant
Market on Front is a trendy urban market in downtown Missoula that offers a unique combination of deli, coffee bar, restaurant, and corner market all under one roof. The modern aesthetic blends with barn wood to create a distinctive atmosphere. Known for its gourmet sandwiches, salads, and locally sourced food products, this spot also serves as a coffee bar offering specialty drinks.
Awesome breakfast burrito and speedy service. The barista made good recommendations and we got the bacon burrito. So good, although a little spicy. Highly recommend the burrito! The inside seems a little crowded but fun. If you’re looking for food quick eats, this is the place.

i was looking for a nice sandwich place and Market on Front stood out. I ordered a grilled cheese and they said it would take 20 mins so i left and came back. when i came back they had my food in a warmer to ensure it was kept hot. the sandwich itself was good as it was a good portion size and had a good flavor.

Kind of next. Sandwich was good. They hover over you when they ask you for a tip. They don’t really do much and it’s expensive. Took a long time to get the food. I appreciate your policies. I simply won’t return.
Stuart D — Google review
Dinner burrito was okay. Sweeter than I expected. My dad got the Market Club which was really good, it had some spice on the turkey or something that I liked. And my SO got the CBR Wrap which he also enjoyed and would get again
Sarina W — Google review
While the breakfast burritos are good, they really aren’t good enough for a consistent 20-30 minute wait, every time, regardless of a line. While in today, there was no line and no one waiting for food- yet they still said it would be a 20 min wait. If you are mindful of /tight on time, this isn’t the place to go and there are plenty of great options downtown with more efficient service. If you have nowhere to be, they are good.
Sam L — Google review
I love their food and the shop is really cute. I've also gotten great service. But I have been there 4 times in the last few months and no matter how busy it is, it takes them 45 minutes to make a sandwich. There aren't that many tables and I can often find one easily. It shouldn't be that hard to service the number of tables they have in a reasonable timeframe. I would imagine they lose mega business this way. I will probably stop trying myself.
Joshua Y — Google review
There are definitely more expensive places in the area so I’m not sure what others are complaining about. I paid $12 for my decently large sandwich, I got the Hot Hippie but substituted the cashew butter for the pesto. Definitely worth the stop, it was SO good. Best sandwich I’ve had in a while! Lots of sides to choose from and great cafe selections. If you think $12 for a sandwich or $9 for a burrito is expensive, maybe stay in Montana. Your mind would be blown by costs in other states.

We were visiting from out of town and stopped in after this place was recommended to us. When we arrived, there were only a few people ahead of us, and we were quoted about a 20 minute wait for two burritos, which we were happy to wait for. As we sat there, it started to get busier, but over the next 35 minutes, we watched at least 15–20 people who ordered after us receive their food. When we finally went up to check, we were told our order hadn’t even been started. At that point, we decided to leave without our food. My husband was the only Black man in the room, and it’s hard to believe this was just a coincidence. The experience left us extremely disappointed and uncomfortable. The only bright spot was the barista, who agreed the situation was ridiculous and kindly refunded our full order. Unfortunately, that small gesture couldn’t make up for the experience. We won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Sushi restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Missoula, Sushi Hana Downtown is a casual Japanese bistro that has made its mark as the first sushi bar in Montana. This charming eatery boasts an art-filled ambiance and offers a diverse menu featuring everything from fresh sushi rolls to savory teriyaki, tempura, and noodle dishes. Sushi Hana is known for its enticing weekly specials; on Mondays, you can indulge in their Not Just Sushi $1 menu after 5 p.m.
We got a mix of the spicy and garlic edamame to start. My husband said it was some of the best edamame he’s ever had. The rolls were fantastic!! Everything tasted fresh and bright. We paired our rolls with the Uni white wine which complimented it nicely. We couldn’t decide which dessert we wanted because they all sounded amazing so we ordered two different kinds. Michelin star worthy!! Can’t wait to come back and try out more of the menu!

Came here for the first time last night and once more tonight. The nigiri is good so far, quality flavor and size, but missing Nikiri. I appreciate the Shiso leaf and garnish. Last night I had sake, hamachi and akami which were all fabulous! Had some gyoza which were great! I’d like to try more kitchen items. The service was fast last night and very slow tonight, it took 20 minutes to get our drinks and over an hour to get our pickled veggies and roll. Our very nice server forgot some minor things such as straw and extra glass. The saba was good today. There is ALOT of rice in the rolls, too much for me but seems consistent. I will be back for more nigiri! I’m happy to see some items from sushi Hana still on the menu. Will always be a Stan! I love their classic Japanese staples you can’t get anywhere else in Montana. Look forward to their growth. Good atmosphere, go here in good company and enjoy yourself. <3

Amazing meal. Had the chirashi at the sushi bar and was pleasantly surprised by the improvement in the quality of fish and large portion size. So happy this place is back open again!
Allison W — Google review
I was skeptical at first but I was pleasantly surprised. The fish was very fresh. The quality of the fish was at least comparable to that of the ones I have had in Japan. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. 10/10 would recommend.
Johnny W — Google review
Exceptional quality of food. Everything tasted very fresh, which is huge for me when consuming raw fish/sushi. Everything was executed very well. The “Hana sake” is incredible and highly recommend the lychee as well as the Hana and punk rock rolls. The hamachi sashimi was also a delight! And don’t let me forget the tira misu dessert, aptly name “dream” on the menu…absolutely ethereal and still thinking about it. Definitely try this place out especially if you’re going to the Wilma for a show as it’s right below it (really cool sushi bar vibe) you won’t be disappointed.
Devin O — Google review
Ordered a variety nigiri and a couple of rolls in addition to tempura vegetables. IMO the fish did not taste ‘fresh’ as others have stated. But fish doesn’t have to be fresh to create good sushi. I’ve had aged fish in sushi that was absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately, this fish tasted like it had been sitting in fridge for a while at best, with a tough texture and unpleasant flavor. It’s just not the quality I was expecting or hoped for when we visited Hana. The sea bream was probably the worst offender. It had the texture of sand paper; I found it inedible. The rolls similarly failed to deliver. The tempura was mostly okay but the lotus root was hard as rock. The service was okay. Our server disappeared for a while. We were really excited to try Hana but ended up very disappointed. Unrelated to this specific dining experience, I was very put off by a picture posted on the Hana instagram that shows a woman (the owner?) with her feet on the counter next to the fish and nearby the sushi bar where people eat. Personally, I think that’s gross to do, let alone advertise on your social media. Needless to say, I unfollowed after that. Maybe one day Missoula will get a restaurant that takes the craft of creating sushi more seriously.
Oli B — Google review
I want to start by saying the food here was fantastic. The service was not. Everything started out good, drink and food order were promptly taken, drinks delivered, no issues. When we got our drink a table was sat right next to us. That table had ordered the same amount of food, received, ate, chatted and paid all before we received anything. Tried to pass it off busy cooks. It took almost an hour for us to receive our order and our server didn’t check on us one single time. One of our rolls was made incorrectly so we point that out to server who took the roll back to have it come out still not correct. We deal, but still point it out to the server, she responded with an attitude asking “well what do you want me to do about that” which shocked me since I myself work in the industry and that kind of response to a guest is not okay. After that interaction we reluctantly ordered two more rolls which we again waited an hour and hadn’t seen out since we placed the order. At that point we decided to ask someone else to cancel our order and bring us our check. As I said the food we did receive was fantastic but our server Hannah was very unprofessional. We were able to speak to a manager who was very nice and very apologetic, he quickly rectified the situation and definitely helped improve our overall experience. Overall bad experience with the server but an amazing experience with everything else!
Trevonte D — Google review
Sushi Hana used to be my favorite restaurant in Missoula and I would eat there about once a week. While the food was good, everything I loved about this place has changed since their move. Their menu is completely different and everything I used to order is gone, their staff has increased tremendously, and their atmosphere is a lot more "trendy." It's not the quaint neighborhood joint it used to be, however all the food I had was delicious. Our server seemed kind of drunk and uninterested in serving us? However, I don't know how much I really care about that... The service wasn't awful and one of the chefs came to ask personally how our food was, it was obvious he has worked hard on it and you could taste that it was done right. I hope this move is what they needed overall to increase the success in their business, but after dining so frequently at their old location, I was a bit disappointed that the things I used to love are no longer. I'll be back, but I won't be a regular anymore.

Bar
The Camino is a popular Mexican restaurant located in Missoula, offering classic Mexican dishes and cocktails. The trendy eatery has gained a reputation for serving some of the best Mexican cuisine in town. It's recommended to make reservations in advance, especially during the summer months. The menu features a variety of options, including tostada de atun, conchinita pibil taco, and carne asada tacos that are praised for their rich flavors and textures.
My boyfriend and I stopped in for dinner on Sunday night. We unexpectedly found one of our new favorite spots. We got the chips and salsa to start and were pleasantly surprised by the depths of flavors. Sweet, spicy, bright and herbal. We also shared the caeser salad and the augachile. Both incredible. We each got our own tacos and margaritas. I had a guava house margarita and they were dangerously delicious. Overall this was a wonderful dining experience. Atmosphere was comfortable and stylish. Service was attentive- every empty plate was immediately replaced with the next course. We skipped on dessert, though I wish we at least took it to go. We will definitely be returning!

Came in on a Wednesday evening and there were quite a few open tables. when they understood It was just a party of one they recommend sitting at the bar. I opted not to and asked for a table. The hostess fumbled for a minute, and again asked me to sit in the bar area at one of the long shared Islands. Asked if I could have a table and told me that the whole restaurant was reserved for the night. I agreed to sit in the bar area, and for the hour and 10 minutes that I was there, I saw multiple tables empty, never occupied with their so-called reservations. I just don't think they wanted to sit a party of one at a table for whatever reason. The music is excessively loud and the service is extremely slow. Chips and salsa were by far the best thing to eat. The Ceviche is overly fishy and lacked any other type of flavor. 3 tacos, soft shell crap (bad), carne asada (ok), chicken (good). I wouldn't recommend this establishment, but enjoy at your own risk.

This place is always incredible! Yummy food and drinks. We split the whole fish and it came with delicious toppings to make fish tacos. So so good! The drinks are amazing!! Love the pineapple margarita they made me. Pricey but worth it!

Who would have thought bomb Mexican in Montana!!?? I am a Flight Attendant, I travel the whole country and I like to find little spots like this one to try the food. I have to be 100% honest. I was totally blown away by this hidden gem. I have been in Michelin Mexican restaurants and this place is absolutely amazing! I was very impressed by the menu, which have some options that not many modern Mexican restaurants will offer e.i. Tacos de papa con rajas. I started with cangrejo tostada: wow! So refreshing, the different flavors in your mouth, I’d absolutely order it again and again! Then I ordered: 3 different tacos: Papas con rajas, cochinita pibil, tacos al pastor. TBH I was blown away by these 3 tacos. My absolute favorite were papas con rajas and the taco star of the night: Cochinita pibil! They have their house hot sauces: the red one is a strawberry habanero and the green one is green apple habanero. Best hot sauces I’ve ever tried! I had to try the 3 leches (great dessert!) you are not going to retreat coming to the Camino. I had 2 beers (which were $3 each!! - happy hour all day every day) El Camino is absolutely worth it! I texted all my loved ones and I’m coming back to Missoula (I live in VA) just to have dinner with them at The Camino. Suggestion: Please start selling the hot sauces 🙏🏽😁

Excellent service, excellent food and one of the only places open past 9 pm. Great ambiance, modern but inviting. Our server was exceptional and there’s food was delicious. The mezcal selection is impressive and they had outside seating. I highly recommend giving this place a try. Oooh, very vegan friendly too.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars Indeed! Completely shocked—in the best way—to have a true 5-star dinner featuring incredible Carne Asada at such a quaint and inviting place. The Camino delivers far beyond expectations. The staff, food, and atmosphere were perfectly matched, creating a warm and memorable dining experience. Every detail felt thoughtful, and every bite was outstanding. Already looking forward to my next visit!

I love eating at The Camino! The servers are friendly and helpful. The chips and dip are always spot-on, and the tacos never miss - especially the mahi and pork belly. Plus, the “2 for Flinching” cocktail is absolutely epic.
Rachel L — Google review
The drinks were great, bartender was pretty good. The chips and salsa were fantastic, but you have to pay for them. The main course left a lot to be desired the chicken tacos were essentially a bland fancy chicken nugget in a taco. I understand this is a fusion mexican restaurant and it's left to interpretation but this was lacking. The atmosphere was very trendy and loud more of a college scene. Would recommend for a first date with drinks, chips and salsa then pop over to stave and hoop if it went well.

Sweet Peaks Ice Cream is a beloved ice cream shop with locations in Whitefish and Missoula, Montana. Their huckleberry flavor is a standout, featuring generous chunks of huckleberry. Additionally, their seasonal flavors like Flathead Cherry Chocolate and Griz Tracks are highly recommended. The shop prides itself on using Montana dairy and high-quality regional ingredients to create artisanal ice cream with classic flavors such as chocolate love and salty caramel.
What an outstanding find. Amazing ice cream. I went with the “Going to the Sun Road” flavor, an obvious nod to Montana’s own Glacier Nat’l Park. The ice cream was so creamy and decadent! The waffle cone was obviously homemade tasting so fresh and had a nice vanilla aftertaste! Delicious!!!

Super yummy ice cream! I got Salty Caramel and Chocolate Love with Oreo and hot caramel on top then a waffle cone on top. I usually don't like waffle cones with cinnamon in them but this one was really good, I love how thick the waffle cone is! Thank you!

Great ice cream in Montana. We tried the outpost in Whitefish and were so glad to see another outpost in Missoula before we depart the state. The Huckleberry and Wild Espresso are my favs. My gf got the specialties and loved them as well. Service was efficient as the girls working were hustling to shorten the never ending line. Store is clean.

Tried a new place today after the carousel. Was so impressed by their gluten free selection (my son has celiac disease and can’t have gluten). All original flavors were gluten free 👏🏼 even gluten free ice cream sugar cone. It was awesome, I don’t think he’s ever had a GF cone in an ice cream establishment. We also had a shake, it was all so good! Will definitely be back next summer

The Pearl Cafe offers a sophisticated dining experience with its French-influenced cuisine and extensive wine selection. The upscale European-inspired cafe presents classic dishes like filet mignon and grilled salmon, making it an ideal choice for a special occasion. Guests praise the restaurant's romantic ambiance, attentive service, and beautifully presented meals. The curated wine list and daily specials add to the overall appeal of the dining experience.
One of the best meals I've ever had in my life, and I don't say that lightly, because I love good food. My husband and I went here last week as an anniversary celebration, and everything from start to finish was incredible. Quiet, pleasant, dimly-lit, romantic ambiance. Excellent service. Beautiful plating. Exquisite bread, wine, appetizer, entree, dessert. It probably doesn't need to be said that it's pricy, but so worth it for a special occasion. Side note: I didn't realize steak could taste this amazing. Photos shown below: Escargot with sizzling garlic butter and sourdough croutons; Lamb with mint and fava bean couscous, grilled zucchini; Filet mignon with green peppercorn sauce, green beans, and yukon mash; Almond torte with raspberry; Lemon cheesecake with huckleberry sauce and candied lemon peel.

Excellent food, service and ambiance. We had the halibut, bison, chocolate mousse and creme brulee. The meal came with bread. All delicious. The employees wore masks, and they did a great job spacing groups and cleaning the tables. Not an inexpensive meal, but compared to where we're from I thought the food was very reasonably priced for the quality.

I had a wonderful meal at The Pearl Cafe. The staff are all very welcoming, and the food was excellent. Don't pass up the specials; this is a place where the daily menu is worth your attention. I thought the wine selection was nicely curated and the ambiance was very calming (I ate quietly by myself, as a single woman, and it wasn't weird like some places can be). I was visiting on business, but would happily come back for date night next time I'm in Missoula.

This has become one of our favorite restaurants. I think they've kept improving over the years so it's now consistently delicious and the wait staff is excellent. I love places where the staff do not interrupt the diners, but wait until there is a good moment for checking with the individuals at the table. The mixed seafood grill is divine. Great place for special occasions.

Located in a downtown setting, Biga Pizza is a popular spot known for its creatively curated and tasty pizzas baked in a brick oven. The restaurant also offers salads, sandwiches, and other Italian specialties. Emphasizing the use of local ingredients, their menu is inclusive with vegan and gluten-free options available. Diners can watch their food being cooked in the wood fire oven from the dining room. Whether it's an intimate dinner or a group gathering, this relaxed haunt is perfect for any occasion.
We were just passing through and wanted pizza and this place was near us but we ended up eating the best crust we’ve ever had. Absolutely recommend it! We got a half and half, Sicilian and Pompeii, which were both perfect and so full of flavor. It took about 40 minutes for the pizza to come out but it was completely worth it as it’s made to order and brick fired.
Laurana A — Google review
I've been a loyal lunch customer, and the salads are consistently fresh and excellent—always a highlight. However, I came in for dinner tonight though 11/18 and the experience was drastically different. I ordered the chopped Mediterranean salad and found that several key ingredients, like the chickpeas, feta ,and red onions, were missing entirely. Furthermore, the portion size was noticeably smaller than what I've received during lunch, and the overall presentation was less appealing. I hope the dinner service can align with the high quality and generous portions I've come to expect at lunchtime

Fantastic atmosphere. Pizza was great. Salad was great. Price was fair. Would absolutely go back.

Ordered takeout from Biga for the first time and was excited to try it. Ordered a half Sicilian and half flathead cherry with some cheese bread. Didn’t look in the box when I picked it up (should have, that’s my bad), got home and it turned out to be some type of squash pizza that was definitely not what I ordered. The cherry side was good though, and the cheese bread was decent but would have been better if it wasn’t missing the sauce that it’s supposed to come with. Probably won’t order takeout again, was really expensive for only getting half of what I ordered.
Lindsey W — Google review
Amazing gluten free pizza! Expect to wait, but go next door and have a drink…it’s definitely worth the wait!
Jill W — Google review
Got the maple chipotle bacon sweet potato pie. Gluten free with dairy free cheese. Crust is hand made gluten free and was incredible. Will definitely be coming back if only just to buy the crust
Jeff H — Google review
When the pizza is done it’s amazing but when the dough/crust is flat as a pancake in other words it hasn’t risen it’s blah! It has happened so many times that we stopped ordering. Periodically, we go back to see if the dough situation has been resolved but nope it happened this last Friday. For the price point I get angry that they choose to deliver flat pizzas. I have sent messages to biga with photos and received discount codes and apologies but the issue remains as they still send out inferior quality pizzas. When they get it right it really is the best pizza in town when they don’t which is most of the time for delivery it sucks.

Five on Black is a fast-casual Brazilian restaurant with two convenient locations in Missoula. It offers a unique dining experience with its fresh ingredients and Brazilian-inspired flavors. The menu features customizable bowls with options for bases like rice, greens, or a mix, along with grilled protein choices including vegetarian/vegan options. Diners can also enjoy sides such as black beans, collard greens, or sweet potatoes, and flavorful sauces like mango barbecue or spicy coconut.
Prices were about average for the style of restaurant. I ordered a large and was able to save half for dinner. Quality of ingredients was good. Selection of Gluten-free options was outstanding. Everything they offer was Gluten-free The staff was pleasant. It certainly felt like a chain establishment, but everything was clean and the food was good.

How is this place rated so high? I've tried it a few times over the last couple years, hoping each time that the last experience was a fluke. No such luck. Each time, it's a bland bowl of flavorless rice, with a few black beans, a COUPLE shreds of meat, and some tiny amounts of whatever "sides" and sauces they allow you to get (and I ordered everything I was able to get for the base price). Not sure if they're manipulating these ratings or what, but the food is nowhere near as good as the score would suggest.
CJ C — Google review
I just bought $37.40 worth of food to be delivered by Uber Eats. Ordered Feijoada bowl, my entire bowl has maybe 10 black beans? Paid for 2 Pao, they highlighted on the ticket that it was out, no refund. My partner’s bowl was supposed to be a chicken bowl and there’s zero chicken. This place is a massive rip off and I can’t get my money back it seems. Super disappointing.

Great food in a casual takeout eatery. This chain was new to us, but the young guy couldn't actually answer any questions. Luckily, another older staff member stepped in and answered questions and made suggestions. Very tasty bowls and salads with multiple options. Great place for an easy, healthy meal. Highly recommend the tilapia.
Cynthia E — Google review
Foods good but I could’ve paid for the small bowl instead of paying $15 for a large only to have it only filled halfway. It’s the amount of food that goes into a small bowl but I paid double the price. Should’ve saved the $15 and went to chipotle.
Victorious D — Google review
Popped in after a very long absence. Prices have doubled and portions reduced significantly. Rice bowl is 80% rice with a smidgen of meat, greens and sauce. Should've opted for a Sammy at JJs.

Came here because I saw it on so many "must eat lists" for Montana. The food was good. But my experience around getting the food was not great. I first tried to go to the location on Reserve to find it closed at 7:00 pm. Since I was only here for 1 more day, I didn't want to pass up the chance to eat here. When I finally got to this store around 7:50 pm, they were out of all rice and it was going to be a 20 minute wait for more. Closing time is 9:00 PM. Several other people left because of this, but like I said, I was already here so I had a bowl made with greens. There were flies buzzing around the register and self serve fountain. They were out of rice. Bottom line here is that the food was good, even though what I got was pretty much the only option. Everything was flavorful. Not sure I will be back if I'm in town again. It was a lot of effort for a mediocre experience but tasty food. They did the best they could that evening.

Delicious! I normally vacation to great falls but the great falls location is awful. Skimpy servings no flavor or just totally wrong orders so when I stopped here in missoula, I saw them making this and I knew it was going to be delicious. Didn't disappoint and actually super filling BUT there was hardly any meat in it so I mostly got full off of rice.

Plonk Missoula is a popular downtown spot known for its craft cocktails, fine wine, and upscale dining experience. The restaurant offers a romantic and moody atmosphere with chandeliers, intimate tables, and comfortable couches. Guests can enjoy French-inspired food in the outdoor courtyard or request a spot on the rooftop patio for stunning views of Missoula. The menu features locally sourced ingredients crafted into delicious dishes that are considered works of art.
The most upscale cool seat yourself, first come first served place I've been. From the rooftop seating to the patio and sidewalk seats, a great vibe. The drink menu is extensive and while the food menu is modest, everything we had tasted amazing.

Beautiful atmosphere, incredible food and drinks, and fantastic service. I was highly impressed with my experience here, as well as the delicious tasting food. Our server was very friendly and informative, especially with the menu to ensure we knew what was what. We will definitely be making a trip back soon!

We stopped in last minute for a late night dinner on our way through town based solely on the fact that it was open. We absolutely loved everything we ordered and were so happily surprised with the high quality food, innovative and different dishes, presentation, and overall experience. We consider ourselves well traveled foodies and often find places lackluster… but we loved it all!

August 29, 2025: Went here for the first time last night. We are visiting from Philadelphia area in Pennsylvania. What a great find! At the bar, I had French Sauvignon Blanc that was delicious and my friend had a huge Negroni that took all night to drink. We each had salads and then the special roast purple cauliflower appetizer plus the hen of the woods mushroom tartlet. Both were amazing. The best thing of the night, though, was splitting the gnocchi entrée. Perfectly executed gnocchi pillows, and some sort of light delicious sauce with pea shoots and pecorino on top. I told our server it was one of the best things I have put in my mouth in a long long time! The pictures that I took don’t do the food justice, but I’ll include them just in case. Definitely 100% recommend this place.
Michelle M — Google review
Food was delicious as well as drinks. I know I had something with huckleberries in it ha ha. We did sit outside, which was nice. There’s not a view of the water which I had hoped for. I would definitely eat there again.

We came to Missoula for a concert! We stopped by for a drink and a bite! The service was fabulous. Cute blonde with a neck scarf nailed it! Best cocktail in town. Still dreaming of the gin and juice! The duck terrine was to die for! Refreshing to see an establishment that has it all! Thank you!

The best place in missoula for drinks and small plates. Never have a bad experience here and the staff is exceptional. I love the cozy couches and seating, the lighting, and atmosphere are all noteworthy. Coming from a larger city I can say this place definitely has a Montana vibe, with big city twist. Highly recommend.
Kristen S — Google review
We did not like the Fettuccine; it had a bitter taste (maybe too much lemon zest). We did not like paying a fee for using a credit card. Plonk charged us a fee to replace bread that fell on the floor. We liked the pink cocktail with water melon in it and the upstairs deck. The Ploughman's Board was moderately good.

Butterfly Herbs is a renowned coffee supplier in Missoula, offering a wide selection of whole bean coffees and operating the city's oldest espresso bar. The shop also features an array of loose teas, herbs, spices, incense, soaps, and lotions. It's a mystical place that has captivated visitors for decades.
This place has such a great vibe! It's an old pharmacy, the front of which is now herbs and coffees, household tools and decor items. At the back of the store there's an old soda fountain. You order, and must pay cash only, at the register. You can sit either in a booth or at the stools along the counter, to wait for your ice cream treats or coffee or baked goods or sandwiches. I can vouch for how wonderful their coffee ice cream soda is, and my son and I both were delighted with our toasted cheese sandwiches with veggies on ciabatta rolls.

yeah this place rocksss . i got to smell a bunch of perfume oils and they were so affordable . i got the rose tea scent under my right pointer fingernail and it lingered most of the day and smelled so good. nice vibe and stuff.

You get captivated by the beautiful aroma once you walk in this place! The aroma is the mixture of herbs, hand made perfume and teas! If you’re touring Missoula, give this place a try for your afternoon or morning tea 👌🏻😉.

Got the espresso shake a couple of times and man, was it good. Highly recommend something from the cash only-espresso bar. It's also just such a unique little place and smells amazing. Love the vibe. They have a ton of cute pottery for sale as well. Had I any room in my suitcase, I would have grabbed some.

Cute & cozy coffee shop and much much more - they have so many cute things from tea/coffee products to art works, books, jewelry and much more. This place feels magical.

This adorable shop was recommended to me as the best place in town to get a sandwich from the desk at my hotel. The sandwich was awesome. I loved it so much I had to come back for their banana bread before I left town. The staff is friendly. The gift shop is full of great finds with a variety options. I even made some new local friends while sitting at the bar in the cafe. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Missoula.

Amazing experience. Great customer service. Cool vibe. Unbelievable malts. They give it to you in a classic glass cup, along with the extra malt in a stainless steel cup. Love it here. Can’t wait to be back in Montana for this.

Love the cafe here! Great place to go when you are looking for a quiet spot for breakfast, lunch, or simply a nice cup of coffee (the baristas make amazing lattes!). The Butterfly Club is delicious and don’t leave without trying a slice of their Huckleberry Coffeecake. They also sell bulk spices, loose leaf tea, and artwork from local artists.

Cocktail bar
Montgomery Distillery, a family-run business located in a 19th-century building that once served as a liquor storeroom and saloon, offers seasonal house cocktails and small-batch spirits. The distillery is operated by Tom and Chris Montgomery, fifth-generation descendants of Montana homesteaders who grow the wheat and rye used in their distilling process. Their children, Ryan and Jenny Montgomery, studied distilling in Scotland and are dedicated to creating international liquors using only Montana ingredients.
Love the fact that this place also offers non-alcoholic cocktails! We ordered The Anxious Squirrel (zero alcohol), the Eggnog, and the Butter Me Up. All tasted great! Couldn’t do a tour because they don’t offer them in the winter.
BettyJo C — Google review
We were at the distillery before the Zootown Festival and rain brought everybody inside. Kaley was in the store by herself and rocked it. the place was jammed and she kept a level head and made it through without a hitch. The service and quality of drinks was so good we returned a second time and had another excellent experience with Colin behind the bar. Prices are good for hand crafted cocktails to boot. Highly recommend.

Really enjoyed the whiskey cocktail of the night. Very nice ambiance. Bartender, Colin, was very welcoming, friendly, and professional. Will definitely go back. No rating on food because we didn't have any.

I was lucky enough to have accidentally sat down before half time because this place fills up fast after a Grizzlies game. Best drinks. Best environment. Great prices. Bartender was amazing!

Fun place to stop into for Happy Hour, or just an hour.... or so. The Cocktails are fun, inviting..... and we haven't yet had one we haven't completely enjoyed. We found this place on our first visit to Missoula some years back. We bought some spirits to bring home with us then. Each trip back to the area we have made a point to stop in for a cocktail, conversation and an additional bottle to go home with us. The fresh garnishes add to the overall experience. So long for now - see you on our next trek through.

Quite an interesting place, sure ... But strange: full of vodkas etc., but no beer.

Tried the bourbon and the single malt whiskey. Both were great but I especially enjoyed the single malt whiskey, which I found to stand up very well to larger branded scotch whiskey. Very nice atmosphere with friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Restaurant
Michi Ramen Bar is a popular spot in Missoula, MT, known for its urban style and contemporary Japanese dining. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere with dim lighting and a diverse menu featuring nine different types of ramen. One of the signature dishes is the chicken katsu ramen. In addition to their savory ramen, Michi also serves authentic appetizers and house-made cocktails.
A Brilliant Chef in Missoula Stopped by for a late lunch and was really impressed. The house special fries were a surprising standout with great texture and flavor. The veggie ramen was outstanding, rich, balanced, and full of depth. Friendly, efficient service added to a great experience. Highly recommended.

I've been here before for Ramen (amazing) but took hubs this time ahead of the Griz game. We both went for something other than Ramen and it was once again AMAZING. We ordered the Poke bowl and the Japanese Golden Curry. Hard to say which we liked better. I think I leaned towards to Poke and he towards the curry. Price per portion is a good bang for your buck!
Jane Q — Google review
Extremely good ramen with good service, fun atmosphere & decent price! You walk into a basement level to a restaurant/bar setting and i was very impressed with how good it tasted! Definitely recommend
Jayminson M — Google review
I’ve tried this place several times over several years, each time hoping for a better experience and getting let down. Specify asked for no tomatoes and add an egg. Received tons of tomatoes in my ramen and no egg. Lucky the tomato request was not an allergy… The “sumo” bowl does not appear to have any more toppings or noodles than the “small”. Each time I’m here I leave hungry. Hardly any noodle or toppings in the ramen at all. This place is very overpriced for what you receive.
Sabrina C — Google review
I always love coming in to michi ramen, the chicken katsu is really good and the service is always great! The music was a little loud but they turned it down a little bit after we asked so thank you guys:)
David W — Google review
I went for my first visit to Michi the other night and ordered the tonkotsu. I have lived in many major cities on the west coast and seeking out ramen in each city is hobby I've had for the past decade. I have to say, this was one of the best bowls, if not the best bowl I have ever had. The service and vibe were also top notch. I will be eating here at least once a week for as long as I live in montana. Thank you Michi for such a wonderful experience.
David C — Google review
The Chicken Katsu ramen was delicious, I could eat that meal every day. Their tiki punch cocktail special was also stellar. To top it off, our server Allie was fantastic and gave us a great recommendation with the Oyster Mushrooms! I love Michi Ramen Bar! Will definitely be coming back the next time I’m in Missoula.

Pangea Bar & Restaurant in Missoula, opened in 2020, has quickly become a local favorite. The casual eatery offers a globally inspired menu featuring tacos, curries, and burgers, as well as weekend brunch. The restaurant combines cuisines from around the world and refines them into unique dishes. In addition to traditional steakhouse-style options, Pangea also offers vegan and dairy-free items like slow-roasted watermelon poke bowl and Korean pork belly bowl.
We dove into the bar from a deluge of rain and was cheerfully met by Megan our bartender who made the rest of the evening great 👍. My Cadillac Margaritas x3 were expertly crafted. My wife's wine pours were generous. I had the Milanese was perfectly crispy. My wife's roasted chicken, tandori style?, was perfect. We had a great time

This was my first time coming back to me and my fiancees favorite restaurant since the new chef and menu change and I'm sad to say that I won't be coming back. The staff is still great but the food isn't what it use to be. I understand flare cooking but when half my dish was sauce and micro-greens. I was given a spoon after we had started eating to eat the sauce because it's half the food you get with your meal. The food was fine but not spacial enough to warrant the price tag. TLDR: New chef, Out of touch pricing, decent at best food.
BTTE E — Google review
This. Was. Amazing. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere. Outstanding. Portion size is incredible and the menu top notch. Don't expect to pay low prices, but the menu and atmosphere are directly equal to the overall value. Go once to check it out, enjoy happy hour specials. Come back to explore the cuisine.
Jacob F — Google review
Aptly named, Pangea offers a global variety of excellent fare, from the drinks and wine to the apps to the varied entrees and finally with the desserts. All with a friendly Montana vibe. Everything we tried in our two visits was outstanding! Generous portions, great flavors and wide variety. Service is exceptional, from the greeter to the servers and bartenders. Sitting near the kitchen window both times we witnessed the efficiency, professionalism and attention to detail that went into every serving. Save room for excellent desserts. The baklava cheesecake is Hell Yeah! and the carrot cake comes in an 8 lb. portion if you’re interested. After a month in Missoula, Pangea ranks as our top pick!

First time having bison steak and it was delicious. Perfect medium rare. I also highly recommend the brussel sprouts side. Very flavorful. Friendly and efficient service.

We were a bit apprehensive to come given mediocre past experiences, however it turns out they changed the chef in June and the food has gotten significantly better. Burger and prawn curry were both fantastic — will definitely be back.

If I could give 15 stars in would. Diverse menu, insane wine and cocktail list. Best meal I’ve had in Missoula ever and best meal in 10 years overall. The Vietnamese chicken was insane, filet was more than perfect, Korean Pork Chop…where do I begin. If you are reading this, just go, it’s amazing and everything anyone could ever want…unless you don’t like food.

The Shack Cafe is a long-standing restaurant known for its diverse menu and antique decor. The eclectic atmosphere features an Egyptian-themed room alongside mountain scenery paintings, creating a unique dining experience. Guests rave about the classic American breakfast options, particularly the banana bread French toast and fried chicken. The cozy and interesting ambiance adds to the overall appeal, making it a great spot for a peaceful dinner or enjoyable breakfast.
I loved everything about this place. It was quiet, peaceful, and the atmosphere was perfect for a dinner. The food was even better. I highly recommend the fried chicken, as it is fried to a golden perfection and is the best fried chicken I've ever had. They also had specials on it, so tackle it whole you can;). This restaurant definetely deserves 5 stars. Perfection!
Sheldon T — Google review
It's not JUST a quirky breakfast joint for white folks, it's fairly multi-cultural. Check out the Egyptian theme in one room as it melts into the more fitting Mountain Scenery paintings in the main room. I was also surprised at the new age fine art prints of Indians in the men's room. The food, classic American breakfast stuff, and the banana bread French toast was bangin!
DJ T — Google review
It was an alright spot. Atmosphere is very cosy and interesting to look at. Menu is cool and my avocado toast had a generous amount of avocado. Omeletes are good and have interesting options. It was a good breakfast for sure. Coffee is freshly ground and has a steady taste!

Wow - this place was pretty delicious! He had the omelette with mushrooms and cheese but it didn't have a lot in it - I had poached eggs (cooked a bit too long), but also great hash browns and delicious banana bread french toast! Definitely some unique options here - id come back! Staff was just lovely too.
Loren B — Google review
Oh ya! Breakfast here is perfect! I love the omelets, but if you need pancakes, buttermilks the best ♡ Fresh coffee's a staple here. Adult beverages are available. Service with super cute smiles all the time ! Very friendly and comfortable. I've never had a bad experience here ...
Michelle M — Google review
Lately I’ve been testing out different pancakes from different diners and The Shack Cafe is by far the best place with pancakes. They just absorb the syrup. And they’re huckleberry syrup is made in house! The banana bread French toast is delicious. They have a roaring 20’s atmosphere. Clean bathrooms. A hostess that checks on drinks and a waiter that brings the food, so you constantly have someone checking on you! Very good service!
Makayla W — Google review
Overpriced on some items, however everything was tasty. All three in our group had totally cold hashbrowns. I had trout and eggs and enjoyed it. The coffee was good. The two I was with ordered mimosas which were just over 10 bucks each. They fresh squeeze OJ into a small carafe and give you a small bottle of prosecco. Probs worth it because it was a couple of servings each. When in Missoula, I'll revisit. Staff was super nice and the place is clean

The Depot is a popular steakhouse in Missoula known for its contemporary cowboy-style setting and extensive wine list. It's renowned for serving the best beef in town and offers a variety of seafood options. The restaurant exudes a casual atmosphere with cowboy artwork, providing a glimpse into old Missoula while also embracing the city's reputation as a foodie destination.
Great higher-end restaurant in Missoula. Wine list is really good and reasonably priced. Highly recommend the blackened salmon. Mahi tacos were really good as well. Ordered a few desserts that were fantastic.

The blackened prime rib was Vegas quality. Amazingly authentic with lots of Montana style!! There are 3 areas to choose from to dine at including a deck Bar which was very naustalgic to be around. Come and check it out and remember the dessert and everything else is hand made daily there.....wish I lived closer.......go ask for Katie who served us. She was great!!

We had an amazing dinner of blackened prime rib. Cooked to perfection. The ahi tuna appetizer was incredible and a plentiful portion. Lava cake for dessert was a great way to end the meal
Becky C — Google review
I had the depot chick.... delicious. Steak and potato my coworker and she said amazing. Sat at the bar side and service was great. Good cold beer, nice wine selection, and friendly staff. Thumbs up!!
Mizzo S — Google review
Disappointing. Our server was kind but seemed frazzled and rushed. Our appetizer was served before we ordered our meal and we ate at a table crowded with menus. The menus had rips and were sticky. Our prime rib had no flavor and we were then told they pride themselves on not seasoning their meat. My husband commented it’s the exact menu from when he last ate here in 2011. The general vibe was that of a confusing time warp. Even the decor is confusing. We sat in the back lounge. I liked the lighting and the seats were comfortable but right next to the tables is a catch all station for menus, water pitchers, napkins, just really an odd placement. I never figured out what Italian pottery and cowboy art had to do with a train themed restaurant name. We had hoped for a quiet cozy atmosphere with good food and service, especially for the price. Unfortunately we were seated next to a large loud party and a family with fussy babies. This meal was way overpriced. For a $10 house salad I expect homemade blue cheese dressing or at least some actual blue cheese chunks. And can I suggest 4 or 5 house-made croutons instead of the pile of dried cubes? Maybe oil and salt the baked potato? I keep wondering, where’s the love? Is the chef okay? Did the owners give up? Based on other reviews, maybe we just had bad luck tonight. Just bummed overall. The folks working here all seemed very nice. Darn.
Elizabeth K — Google review
We are here last year and had the same bland steak and chicken. Thought maybe it was a fluke. Steak was prepared med. rare as requestion, but was flavorless. Last couple bites were grizzle. No salad or veggy included, like at other establishments, when you buy a meal. Probably would have enjoyed it more with ketchup. Wines were good. Service was good. Calimari appetizer was very good.
David D — Google review
Great place for a steak or prime rib! Blackened prime rib was excellent, as was the loaded baked potato. Taquitos came out cold in the middle, but the server brought us a new plate with hot food so not a big deal. Definitely recommend.
Kristen S — Google review
A nice steakhouse feel to it, how a steakhouse should be. No tvs, a little dark, and quiet. I normally don’t order prime rib, but chanced the blackened prime rib. It was hands down the best steak I’ve ever eaten, at a restaurant. It was better than anything I’d ever had at Ruths Chris. Seasoned and cooked, perfectly. It melted in my mouth. It’s worth the drive just to was that again!
