Guwahati is a gateway to India’s Northeast, set along the Brahmaputra River with views of rolling hills and river islands. The city is known for the hilltop Kamakhya Temple, one of the most important Shakti shrines, and other historic temples scattered across its ridges and riverbanks. Bustling markets, Assamese cuisine, and river cruises round out a visit that combines culture, nature, and everyday city life.
With favorites like Nehru Park, Reboti Chat House, and Barbeque Nation, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Three Guys Restaurant and Makhan Bhog so you can get the best taste of Guwahati while you’re here. Botanical garden
Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, located in Guwahati, India, is a renowned destination for wildlife enthusiasts and families. Established in 1957, this expansive sanctuary houses a diverse range of exotic animals and serves as a crucial conservation site for endangered species such as the Indian rhinoceros and white tiger. Visitors can also explore the botanical garden's extensive collection of indigenous and exotic plants that enhance the lush landscape.
One of the best zoo I have ever visited. The zoo was quite huge and has large variety of animal and species. Really loved it. It will take approximately 3-4 hours to see the entire zoo by walk. This zoo will definitely give you real wildlife vibe in the mid of forest.
Hriday P — Google review
Visited this zoo during with high expectations and I was disappointed to see it in a bad condition. I went with high expectations because this zoo is located in a big city and I thought that it would be filled with various unique animals but I was disappointed to see only a few deers, hog deers, snakes and some other common animals. Many cages were empty with no animals inside. The price of the ticket is ₹33 for adults and you can book it online as well. I have visited Patna zoo which I think was much better than this place. Some construction work was also going on inside the zoo, maybe after the construction is complete this place will become great but for now I think It's best to avoid this place if you are a tourist roaming around Guwahati.
Himanshu K — Google review
Assam State zoo🦒 cum botanical 🪴 garden provides a calm environment for variety of animal🦏 , reptiles🪱 and plants🌱. I could witnessed all the animals closely. There is a provision for well maintained children's park🍄 inclusive vehicle service. It was a nice experience visiting the zoo but it has less space.

Assam State Zoo Cum Botanical Garden » NaparksThe name of the main zoo in Assam is the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, located in Guwahati. It is the largest zoo in northeastern India and is also referred to as the Guwahati Zoo. Explore Assam State Zoo Botanical Garden: See kangaroos, white deer, zebras, birds, lions, tigers, hippos, and crocodiles. Assam State Zoo is a nice place to visit with family and kids. It has a good variety of animals, birds, and reptiles, and the botanical garden adds to the greenery. The place is spacious and gives a natural vibe, but maintenance could be improved in some areas. Food and drinking water options are limited inside . Overall, a good spot for a day outing in Guwahati.
YOGESHWAR ( — Google review
Visited the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden recently, but the experience was quite underwhelming. The zoo is smaller than expected, and many enclosures were empty, which was disappointing. Some parts were under construction, making it difficult to explore properly. We could only see a few common animals. The place has potential but needs better maintenance, more animals, and proper management to attract visitors again.
Ritesh K — Google review
Ticket Fare: Rs. 33/- for adults. Online ticket is also available. Same price in both offline and online. Bio toilets available inside this place. I think 2 to 3 hours needed to cover the entire area. Almost every cells were fulfilled. Really very worthy place. A good place for spending weekend. Remains closed on Friday.
Suman P — Google review
FRIDAY CLOSED The ZOO in Assam was great, but nowadays it seems to be diminishing its valued day by day. On my recent visit to the zoo, I was unable to find any structured system except the bottle returning scheme. The e-carts are very irregular and the roads are very disturbing. The cages were broken and rusted, morever most of the animals were not available. I hope the govt of Assam will take necessary steps to "make the Zoo great again" Positive views can be seen as most of the parts were under construction.
Arindom B — Google review
Visited Assam State Zoo last weekend. Overall a good place to hang out if you love nature and animals. Lot of greenery inside and many animals like tiger, rhino, deer, bear, and different types of birds. The place is peaceful and good for families or friends. But honestly, some areas are not well maintained. Few animal cages looked old and water ponds were dirty in some spots. They should improve that part. Entry ticket is cheap — ₹30 per person, which is worth it. You can also take an electric cart if you don’t want to walk, but walking is better to enjoy the surroundings. Good for a one-time visit in Guwahati. If you’re coming from outside, keep at least 2 hours in hand. Would have given 5 stars if maintenance was better.

Nature & Parks
Shraddhanjali Kanan, located in Tarun Nagar, Guwahati, is a popular open-air garden and park opposite the Assam State Zoo. The well-maintained park features vibrant rows of flowers, an illuminated fountain, a children's playground, and green expanses for yoga enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy various swings and a toy train while taking in performances at the open stage with prior permission.
It’s a great place for morning walks, family time, or just to relax in nature. The park is clean and full of green lawns, well shaped trees and plants. There are red-tiled walking paths and play areas for kids, so everyone can enjoy. Inside the park, there’s also a small restaurant where you can have tea, coffee, and snacks — perfect for relaxing after a walk or chatting with friends. 🚶‍♂️ Morning Walk (Free Entry): 5:00 AM – 8:00 AM

Shraddhanjali Kanan is a wonderful, refreshing park and a real green oasis right in the hustle and bustle of Guwahati. It's one of my favorite spots in the city to just relax and get away from the noise. The park is very well-maintained, with lush green lawns, beautiful flower beds, and plenty of trees providing nice, cool shade. It's incredibly clean and has a very peaceful atmosphere.
MD A — Google review
Quite a huge park compared to a lot of other parks in the city, so it doesn't feel crowded. The occasional light shows are very pretty. There are also swings and other playing instruments for children. There is ample place for sitting, benches, stairs and lawns included. It's a very beatiful place to sit and relax in the evening. The only problem is there are a lot of mosquitos.

Overall, Shraddhanjali Kanan is a must-visit destination in Guwahati for those seeking relaxation, recreation, and connection with nature. Its serene atmosphere and beautiful landscapes make it an ideal spot for families and nature enthusiasts.

Shopping
Roodraksh Mall is a delightful shopping destination in Guwahati that strikes the perfect balance between a bustling flea market and a larger retail experience. This charming mall caters to families with its diverse range of economical shopping options, including popular stores like Pantaloons. Visitors can enjoy an array of activities, from kid-friendly play zones to various dining choices, ensuring there's something for everyone.
It looks small from the outside, but inside it's pretty big and well maintained. The ground floor has a lot of shops like Mumuso, Pepe Jeans, and Safari. NY cinema hall and Food court at the top floor.
BiKash B — Google review
It's a nice mall with good brands around... The escalators are also in good working condition... The range of products available is nice but there's a lot of empty space that if utilised would make it better...
Ishita B — Google review
I am giving 5star for the spacious food court. The mall has very good space , some new brand's show rooms were added recently . But many spaces are still vacant. Place is well maintained . The famus bar and restaurant 'EXORA' is here!! Parking space for two and four wheelers are available for free
Shamba M — Google review
Roodraksh mall is a spacious mall, few years back it was one of the best malls in Guwahati, however with time it seems this mall is losing it's charm. More than half of the stores are shut down. There aren't many brands like it used to. We went on a weekday and it was empty. We could only see few people at the food court. The only highlight of this place is the store called "The Pencil Craft" it was the only place we spent a lot of time shopping and the playzone for kids where they enjoyed the most. However, the price was too expensive compared to other playzones, they even charged extra for parents to accompany the child which is generally not the case in other places. Food court was okay not great. If you have ample time and want to explore then I wouldn't recommend this mall but if you are someone who loves craft then you should definitely check the store here.

I would like to share my honest experience regarding the salon services. Unfortunately, the overall experience was not at all satisfactory and definitely not worth the time or money spent. The hairstylist seemed to lack the necessary skills and confidence expected at a professional salon. From consultation to execution, there was very little guidance or expertise offered, which made the service feel below standard. It was quite evident that the stylist requires a lot more training in technique, client handling, and understanding what suits the customer. A salon visit should leave you feeling pampered, refreshed, and confident, but in this case, it was the complete opposite. The service quality, attention to detail, and overall professionalism fell short of expectations. I strongly believe that investing in proper training for the staff and focusing on improving service standards will go a long way in ensuring that clients have a pleasant experience. At present, I would not recommend this salon, as my visit was a bad experience that did not justify the value or reputation one expects from such a place.

Restaurant
Three Guys Restaurant is a delightful culinary destination that offers an eclectic mix of Continental, North Indian, Chinese, Arabian, and Thai dishes. This vibrant eatery is perfect for groups of friends looking to celebrate with a feast. The menu features mouthwatering options like Chicken Biryani, Butter Chicken, and Masala Chicken paired with Laccha Paratha. Guests rave about the artistic presentation of both the food and the ambiance—creating a memorable dining experience.
It is among those restaurants with great interior and ambience. Perfectly cool and calm to enjoy the food. Ordered Tandoori Naan, Punjabi Dhaba murgh, Crispy Honey Chicken and chicken Manchurian. Except for the Manchurian, all the other food items were great. Manchurian was something like soup and I had tasted better than that earlier. However, they can improve the quality of the other items too. The quantity of the food is little less compared to some other restaurant at the same price. Staffs were friendly and perfect ambience to enjoy our dinner.
Deepjyoti S — Google review
Restaurant is looking very nice and well maintained. We had soup, bamboo biryani and prawn fry. Taste is nice and it is served hot. Biryani is sufficient for two people. It is located at main road. Hence it is easily accessible. Menu is creative and price is little high. Hygienic maintained as a whole.
Balaji K — Google review
Liked the interiors and the service was also good. The Waiters are well behaved. - The food is good too though not on exemplary levels yet. -Have to park in the road if you're planning to take a 4 wheeler as they don't have adequate parking space.
Sanjib S — Google review
Very beautiful interior work - that's the first thing comes to the mind once you enter in to the restaurant. Quality is good, staff are well behaved. Usually not packed. However, preparation time is longer for the items they recommend as quicky. Apart from GST they include 5% service tax in the bill directly. Definitely try once.
Faruk R — Google review
A decent restaurant on Zoo road near the Guwahati Central mall. The interiors are great, the theme is unique but the food is average.Although the service is quick here. The theme of the restauant is based on the famous three monkeys of Mahatama Gandhi. You may even see three monkeys printed on their plates which makes it a unique experience all together.
Apurva S — Google review
I had been there only twice and surprisingly both of the time i found the place pretty much empty. Anyways the interior is pretty cool and the food is good too. The staff on the other hand is very slow and quite less in comparison. Try the bamboo biriyani, that's really a delight. I recommend.
Tanushree G — Google review
The quality of food is good here. But it's expensive. I tried some north indian dishes like Dal Makhni , Shahi Paneer and Dal Amritsari with Nan roti. It's was quite good. Staff is supportive.

Vegetarian restaurant
Makhan Bhog, situated in Ulubari, is a popular choice for vegetarian dishes. While offering regular South Indian options like dosa and idli, the restaurant stands out with its Chinese menu that caters to vegetarians. The outlet is known for providing various vegetarian dishes at reasonable rates and offers a diverse range of items including continental dishes like French fries, cheese macaroni, spaghetti alla marinara & veg spaghetti lasagna.
Firstly let's talk about the service. The staffs were so polite and well mannered. They brings your food very quickly and the atmosphere there was so quiet and decent. The interior was very elegant and beautiful. Now let's talk about food. The food was very delicious, the quantity was more than enough, the quality, the hygiene was very remarkable. They just made my day wonderful.
Ankuri S — Google review
The place offers a wide variety of of sweets and also options for lunch ( north indian which are available only at a specified time ) and south indian food like varieties of dosa and idli and few Chinese items as well . The price is on the higher side and for some items the portion seems to little in comparison to the price. The service is average but the ambiance is good. We ordered paneer dosa (190 rs) and raj kachori ( rs 140) which tasted really well . They were worth the price. The sweets here are awesome . Please do try the mathura peda and milk cake here .
Nilam P — Google review
Unexpected...Food has been degraded to a lot extend. The bread 🍞 which I have shared in pics was inedible and stinky. However before writing this review, I called & informed them . They were unapologetic and cares less . Once a pioneer now serves waste food. This is sad, not for us customers but for them as we have better options.
Masuma D — Google review
Awesome too be here!! Try Amritsari Paneer and garlic naan its very yummy. And the service has been improved and interior is also redesigned. Thumbs up✅
Taniya K — Google review
THUMBS DOWN. Went there few days back.had such a disgusting experience.. around 7 pm. We went upstairs in the sitting area, when I looked at the menu man, it's pure evil loot they are doing. Veg biryani is around 500? One butter naan is 100+? 1 papad is 50? I Won't even begin at the "OTHER EXPENSIVE" items. But, thats another thing. We just ordered tea/coffee and sweets.. they could have said us to move to downstairs for their "non elite" people. No harm in that. We would have happily come downstairs. But instead they say, there is no coffee, no tea( I saw someone drinking downstairs few minutes back), just to clear the seat and reserve for bigger baits. TOTALLY NOT RECOMENDED. INSTEAD GO BHARATIYA JALPAN OR OTHERS .
Dr. S — Google review
Just wanted to share a food spot with you. It's a cool veg place. Their sweets are a hit. And they have top-notch snacks, cookies, and all, this is your spot. They've got a variety of dry snacks and chocolates. The sweets, especially the Rasgulle, are our go-to. Plus, it's all hygienic. They even make hampers for occasions. You can customize them too. I would recommend you to visit here…✨
Siddhant — Google review
Makhan Bhog is my ultimate go-to place whenever I crave authentic vegetarian food, and it never disappoints. Their malai kofta paired with butter naan is simply heavenly. While the food is undeniably outstanding, I must mention a couple of things to consider. Firstly, the service can be a bit slow at times. Secondly, if you're dining in, avoid taking a seat next to the toilet as it smells really bad. Opt for a seat farther away for a more comfortable dining experience. Lastly, if you're looking for authentic vegetarian dishes, this is the place to be.
Manali D — Google review
Wonderful Food experience!! Not so good parking experience! There is no dedicated parking for the restaurant. You have to park it on the main road and walk to the restaurant. Food is phenomenal! I had ordered 5 items.. all items paneer tikka, raj kachori, spring roll, pav bhaji, tasted yumm! But lassi was very disappointing.. Sweets on the ground floor were of very good quality! You better purchase the sweets as soon as you enter the restaurant else it might get finished by the time you have your food.

Barbecue restaurant
AB's - Absolute Barbecues on GS Road in Guwahati is a one-of-a-kind restaurant that provides a "do-it-yourself" dining experience. Guests can grill an array of meat, seafood, and vegetables right at their table. The well-lit restaurant offers comfortable seating and a wide variety of food options. While the starters and panipuri were refreshing and delicious, the main course received mixed reviews with moist chicken but lackluster fish.
This place serves good food!! It is well maintained, hygienic and very welcoming..!! The staff behaviour is very well mannered..!! Crispy corns are my fav..!!

Visited Absolute Barbecues, and had a pretty good experience overall. The service was definitely the highlight, the staff cared about our feedback throughout the meal. We got complimentary drinks which were really good and also got discount on our bills (students offer) As for the food, it was good and had a good variety, prawns were really tasty. Though some items felt a bit dry to taste. The dessert was yummy. However, what impressed us the most was that whenever we shared our concerns, the team exchanged the item and customized it to improve the flavor, which was really thoughtful. They even offered to add extra seasoning or prepare it again. Overall, I loved the experience. 😇

We recently visited Absolute Barbecue, Guwahati, hoping to try something new since we usually go to Barbeque Nation, which has always been our favourite. Unfortunately, this experience was quite disappointing. There was no one at the reception to welcome or assist us, and we had to find our own table. The service throughout felt unorganized and inattentive — we had to repeatedly call for help or to place simple requests. Coming to the food: Crispy Corn and Cajun Potatoes were good, but the grilled mushroom lacked taste, and there was no grilled fish available. At the live counter, after several requests, we received a very small portion of octopus and pasta, mostly filled with vegetables. The main course was below average — the fish was bland, butter chicken too sweet, and there was no rice until we informed the staff. Even the naan and rotis were tasteless. The dessert section, though decent, was unattended and we had to call someone to help us. Overall, the experience felt far below expectations in both service and food quality. Compared to Barbeque Nation, the warmth and coordination were clearly missing. I genuinely hope the management looks into this and improves, as the concept and ambience have great potential.
Nabanita N — Google review
As a regular customer at Absolute Barbecue Guwahati, I’ve always appreciated the variety and concept, especially the Northern food grill options. The kebabs, tikkas, and grilled items usually hit the mark when they’re fresh and well-prepared. There have been days when the food was absolutely delicious—flavorful, tender, and satisfying. However, consistency has been a real issue lately. Sometimes the grills come out overcooked or lacking proper seasoning, which is disappointing, especially when you come in with expectations based on past good experiences. The service also tends to be hit or miss—some days it’s prompt and friendly, but on others, it feels inattentive or rushed, even when the restaurant isn’t too busy. As a loyal customer, I really hope they take these feedback points seriously and work on improving the consistency in both food quality and service. The potential is there—they just need to maintain their standards across every visit.
Pratistha N — Google review
It's quite big and spacious! The menu includes seafoods like octopus and squids! But it doesn't taste good at all. Starters were good as usual Main course was somehow good And dessert section was average! But there were plenty of options.. You can give a try👍

I visited the restaurant second time and completely disappointed. The first time I visited few years back, everything was good but this time service is not good and taste of the food was also not up to the mark. I don't know whether the service and food was bad on that particular day but I am never going to visit again.

Updating the review of the place. I went today on 30/10/2025. PLEASE DO NOT VISIT. So upset, it use to be my fav place but I’m never visiting AB again. Specially live counter is horrible man. What a disastrous Papdi chat and squid. But some seniors staffs are really good. They try their best to help apart from them , we have to continuously call them for refills etc. starters are dry, not seasoned properly, meat is undercooked and sometimes burnt. Specially live counter food. Oh my my , oh lord the pani puri was horrible, squid and Papdi chat . So sorry to say that but this is not the same place I have visit few months back This is going to be my last visit.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Maa Kamakhya Temple, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Purva Tirupati Sri Balaji Temple. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Perched atop Nilachal hill in Guwahati, Assam, India, the Maa Kamakhya Temple is an ancient Hindu pilgrimage site dating back to the 7th century. It is dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya and is considered one of the most sacred places of pilgrimage in India. The temple is part of the 51 Shakti Peethas and holds great significance for both Hindus and Tantric worshipers.
Visiting Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati was a deeply spiritual and unforgettable experience. The temple, situated atop Nilachal Hill, offers a serene atmosphere with a breathtaking view of the Brahmaputra River. The energy and divine presence here are truly powerful, and one can instantly feel a sense of peace and devotion. The architecture is ancient and mesmerizing, with intricate carvings that reflect Assam’s rich heritage. The temple is well-managed, and despite the crowds, the darshan was smooth and organized. Local priests and volunteers were very helpful in guiding devotees. My experience of offering prayers and witnessing the rituals felt very pure and soulful. The surroundings are clean, with facilities available for devotees, and shops nearby for prasad and essentials. Kamakhya Temple is not just a place of worship but a sacred journey—one that connects you deeply with the divine mother. A must-visit for anyone traveling to Guwahati. Entry fees 500 waiting time is 4hrs aprx. Without entry fees cant visit the main sanctum sanctorum however one can have a sneak peak darshan from distance.

Maa Kamakhya Temple is a powerful and spiritually enriching place. It sits on Nilachal Hill and offers a beautiful view of Guwahati city. The atmosphere feels truly divine, and the temple architecture is unique. However, the crowd can be heavy, especially during mornings and festivals, so it's better to visit early. You can reach the temple by cab or shared auto from the main city. Despite the rush, the experience feels peaceful and memorable.

Visiting Maa Kamakhya Temple was a truly divine and unforgettable experience. The temple, perched atop the Nilachal Hill, offers not only a deeply spiritual atmosphere but also breathtaking views of Guwahati city and the Brahmaputra River. The energy around the temple is powerful and peaceful at the same time — you can genuinely feel the divine presence of Maa Kamakhya. The priests and temple staff are helpful and guide you through the rituals with devotion. Despite being a popular pilgrimage site, the surroundings are clean, organized, and well-managed. Whether you go for spiritual reasons or cultural exploration, this temple will leave you with a sense of peace and positivity. ⭐ 5/5 — A must-visit for anyone coming to Guwahati. Jai Maa Kamakhya!

It is better to purchase the VIP tickets online which opens 7 days before. It is being sold out immediately. Better to purchase at 12.01 am 7 days before. It costs Rs.500 per head. If you go by 7 am, you can come out in 2 hours after Darshan. Tuesdays and Saturdays, there will be huge rush. The temple is maintained privately, I believe. The most powerful Shakthi Peet. Must visit at least once.

Maa Kamakhya Temple” – The Devi Mahatmya : Digital Temple of ...The Kamakhya Temple is a sacred Hindu temple in Guwahati, Assam, dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, believed to be the spot where the goddess Sati's yoni (womb) fell. A significant center for tantric practices, the temple is most famous for its annual Ambubachi festival, which celebrates the goddess's feminine power and fertility.

🌺🙏🌺 জয় মা কামাখ্যা 🌺🙏🌺 One of the oldest sati pith among the 51st sati piths of the goddess Maa Parvati. The temple was situated on the Nilachal hills outside Guwahati City, Assam in Kamakhya Locality. The main temple was built in an ancient structure and some new structures were built later in front of the main temple 🙏 One can purchase VIP tickets for ₹ 500 per person to visit the গর্ভগৃহ... This was very much disgusting‼️ The temple management authority should take some appropriate actions to avoid this and open the main temple, গর্ভগৃহ, for all the devotees. They should also look at the cleanliness of the temple premises and queue management very seriously‼️

Visiting Maa Kamakhya was a journey of spiritual awakening. Nestled in Simanchal Hills in Assam it is one of the important shakipeeths. You can either get general ticket which is a bit costly or you can get VIP tickets which are available at ₹501. You can get VIP tickets online as well but you have to book it in advance at least a week ago as they sell very fast. The worship items are sold at shops located outside the temple and you can also keep your shoes here. It took us 13 hours to worship Maa Kamakhya but it was totally worth it.

The Guwahati Rope Way is a newly added attraction that offers a thrilling and enjoyable ride spanning approximately 1.8 km from the bank of Guwahati city to North Guwahati bank. It provides breathtaking panoramic views of the city, Brahmaputra River, Umananda Island, and the surrounding landscapes. Whether you're a local or visitor, this experience is highly recommended for its unique and memorable perspective of the area. The ropeway ride is especially stunning during sunset.
I recently had the pleasure of riding the Guwahati Rope Way, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! The rope way offers breathtaking views of the majestic River Brahmaputra, and I was left awestruck by the sheer beauty of it all. The ride itself was smooth and comfortable, with modern and well-maintained cable cars. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring that everyone had a safe and enjoyable experience. But the real star of the show was the stunning view of the Brahmaputra River. The rope way takes you high above the river, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. I was mesmerized by the sight of the river snaking its way through the city, with the lush green hills of the Eastern Himalayas providing a stunning backdrop. Whether you're a local or a tourist, the Guwahati Rope Way is a must-visit attraction. It's a great way to experience the natural beauty of Guwahati and take in the sights and sounds of the city. *Rating:* 5/5 stars *Pros:* Breathtaking views of the Brahmaputra River, smooth and comfortable ride, friendly and helpful staff *Cons:* None! *Recommendation:* Don't miss the Guwahati Rope Way! It's a unique and unforgettable experience that will leave you with lifelong memories. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the stunning views!"

"Guwahati city's ropeway ride is amazing! The view of the Brahmaputra River is awesome. The ropeway is connected to a mountain where Lord Umananda's temple is located. The view of the temple from the ropeway is very beautiful. There's also a beautifully designed park near the ropeway entry point, making it an excellent spot for families, children, school students, and college students. I highly recommend this place, especially for couples who frequently fight, to experience peace and stunning views."🤗❤️

The Guwahati Ropeway offers a breathtaking view of the mighty Brahmaputra River and the cityscape. The ride is smooth, safe, and well-maintained, making it a great experience for families and tourists. Ticket prices are reasonable, and the staff is helpful and polite. The ropeway connects guwahati to north Guwahati. It does not provide connectivity between guwahati and umananda temple. The one way ticket per person is Rs.100/-. The rush is normal. The staff is well behaved. The site is beautiful and well managed. It has all the amenities like washrooms and drinking water. The brahmputra river looks beautiful from above. One should visit atleast once for the view.

A Must-Do for the Views, But Be Prepared for the Heat! The Guwahati Ropeway offers an absolutely breathtaking experience with truly amazing views of the Brahmaputra River and the surrounding landscape. As you ascend, the panorama unfolds beautifully, making for some fantastic photo opportunities and a memorable perspective of Guwahati. It's a definite must-do for anyone looking to see the city from above. The staff are incredibly cooperative and helpful, ensuring a smooth boarding and disembarking process. Their pleasant demeanor adds to the overall positive experience. However, there's a significant drawback: the heat inside the ropeway cars is extremely intense, with virtually no ventilation. On a sunny day, it can feel like an oven, which unfortunately detracts from fully enjoying the journey. This is a clear area where the infrastructure could use a major improvement. Better ventilation, perhaps even some air conditioning, would elevate the experience significantly. Despite the heat, the unparalleled views make the Guwahati Ropeway worth a visit. Just be sure to go on a cooler day if possible, or be prepared for a very warm ride! With a bit of investment in passenger comfort, this attraction could easily be five-star.

The Assam State Museum in Guwahati houses a diverse collection of historical artifacts including sculptures, coins, and books that offer insight into the local heritage. It is a must-visit attraction for those interested in exploring the rich cultural history of Assam.
Awesome place preserving historical sculptures and all. The Assam State Museum, located near Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati, is a cultural treasure trove that beautifully showcases the rich heritage of Assam and Northeast India. I visited recently and was captivated by its extensive collection of artifacts, spanning prehistoric times to the modern era. The museum, established in 1940 by the Kamarupa Anusandhan Samiti and taken over by the Assam Government in 1953, features well-organized galleries, including Epigraphy, Sculptures, Numismatics, and Anthropology. Standouts include the 10th-century stone Nataraja statue, Ahom and Mughal coins, and reconstructed tribal huts that vividly depict Assam’s diverse traditions. The library, with its rare manuscripts and journals, is a hidden gem for history buffs. The museum is clean, well-maintained, and centrally located, just a 10-minute walk from Guwahati Railway Station. However, the extra photography fee (INR 10) feels unnecessary, and more detailed signage for exhibits would enhance the experience. A must-visit for anyone eager to explore Assam’s vibrant history and culture!

Visited the Assam State Museum recently. The entry ticket is quite affordable at just ₹33, but it can only be purchased online — no cash option available. There's an additional ₹33 charge if you want to take photos. Unfortunately, most of the museum is currently under renovation. We were only able to visit 2 or 3 sections. The areas that were open had some really impressive and well-maintained ancient collections, which gave a glimpse into Assam’s rich heritage. However, the overall experience was limited due to the ongoing work. Would recommend visiting after renovations are completed for a fuller experience.

It is one of the State of the art Museum of Assam. History of Assam is represented here. Life of normal people is also represented very well by showcasing sculptures, Old houses, Musical instruments, eatables items, clothes, etc. The Museum is well managed, thanks to the workers here.

The Assam State Museum is one of the best places in Guwahati to explore the rich cultural, historical, and artistic heritage of Assam and the Northeast. Located conveniently near Dighalipukhuri, the museum is well-maintained and easily accessible. The museum houses an impressive collection — from ancient sculptures, coins, and manuscripts to tribal artifacts, textiles, and traditional tools. The ethnographic and sculpture sections are particularly fascinating, offering a detailed glimpse into Assam’s tribal culture and artistic excellence. It’s a wonderful place for anyone who wants to understand the deep cultural roots of this region. However, there are a few areas that need improvement. There is no official guide or audio guide system to help visitors understand the exhibits, which makes it difficult for outsiders to grasp the full context of the displays. Also, the rules about photography are confusing — some staff say mobile photography is allowed, while others strictly prohibit it, which can be frustrating. Another disappointing part was the attitude of the volunteer staff assigned to assist visitors. Instead of being welcoming and informative, some of them were quite rude and unhelpful, which spoiled the overall experience a bit. Despite these issues, the museum remains a must-visit for anyone interested in Assam’s art, culture, and history. The entry fee is affordable, and the atmosphere inside is peaceful, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace. Pros: Rich and diverse collection, calm environment, affordable entry fee Cons: No guide or audio guide, unclear photography rules, rude volunteers, some outdated display information

It is amazing experience to visit Assam State Museum, though the museum is small but it is enriched with some very rare artefacts. It is just opposite of Dighalipukuri lake. It was established in 1940 and later took over by Assam Government in the year 1953. Some very rare sculptures are kept in this museum. You must visit the boat section where a large wooden boat is kept and secured properly. You can see the ahom king's dress, various Assamese textiles are displayed too. I saw a very rare durga idol whose photo is attached in this post. I found it very different than other durga idols seen in other place. It will take approx 2-3 hours to see all the artefacts in the museum. The museum remains open 06 days from 10:00am – 5:00pm during summers and from 10:00am – 4:30pm during winters except on Mondays; 2nd and 4th Saturday and Government Holidays.

Dighalipukhuri Park in Guwahati is a captivating sightseeing spot with a serene lake that offers boating facilities. The park's lake has historical significance as it was once a naval harbor connected to the Brahmaputra. Visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty of the park, relax under the trees, and engage in recreational activities. With separate areas for children to play and various swings, it's an ideal place for families to unwind.
Dighalipukhuri has always been more than just a scenic spot; it’s a piece of history, a peaceful escape nestled in the heart of Guwahati. The serene waters and the shade from the towering trees surrounding it offer a sanctuary from the bustle of city life. But now, as plans for a bridge loom overhead, every X-marked tree speaks of an impending loss. The place I once loved will soon live only in my memories, as this natural haven is reshaped and sacrificed for urban progress.

Dighalipukhuri is a historic, man-made rectangular pond about half a mile long, surrounded by a landscaped park covering roughly 17–18 bigha . Legend attributes its creation to King Bhagadatta for his daughter’s svayamvara. It later served as an Ahom-era naval dockyard . ⏱️ Access & Entry Opening hours: Typically 8:30 AM–5:30 PM. Some sources suggest extended hours till 8 PM . Entry fee: Around ₹10–20 per adult; children often enter free . 🚣 Activities & Amenities Boating: Paddle boats available (~₹40–50 per person), ideal for romantic rides or quiet reflection . Children’s play area: A fun zone with swings, slides, seesaws—great for family outings . Walking & jogging: Tree-lined paths invite morning walks, yoga, and exercise . Street food & café: Eateries and stalls near the park serve local snacks and light meals . Dighalipukhuri Park is a gentle gem within Guwahati’s cityscape—rich in history, greenery, and communal value. It’s affordable, inviting, and family-friendly with a calm ambiance perfect for couples, fitness enthusiasts, and solo visitors alike. While cleanliness and development plans warrant attention, its cultural and environmental significance make it a must-visit.

Purva Tirupati Sri Balaji Temple, located in the tranquil outskirts of Guwahati, is a stunning replica of the renowned Tirupati Venkateswara Temple. This Hindu temple showcases traditional South Indian architecture with its gopurams and vibrant sculptures. Dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, it features intricate carvings and a golden dhwaja stambha, creating an enchanting atmosphere for devotion.
This temple is a beautiful and peaceful place built over a spacious area. The South Indian–style architecture looks fantastic, and the temple complex is very well maintained. The inner garden is beautifully kept, adding to the serenity of the place. There’s a large parking area outside. Before entering the temple, visitors need to wash their hands and feet, and there’s a dedicated shoe deposit counter as well. Inside, there are several smaller temples dedicated to different deities. The crowd is usually light in the morning but increases after noon. There’s also a prasad counter outside where you can buy offerings. If you’re in town, this temple is a must-visit for its divine atmosphere and beautiful surroundings.

My visit to Purva Tirupati Sri Balaji Temple was a truly divine experience. Located in the serene surroundings of Guwahati, this temple is a beautiful replica of the famous Tirupati Balaji Temple of Andhra Pradesh. The architecture is grand and detailed, reflecting traditional South Indian temple design with intricate carvings and a peaceful ambiance. The moment I entered the temple premises, the calm environment and the chants of Lord Balaji’s name created a spiritual atmosphere. The temple is well-maintained and very clean. The priests are polite and help guide visitors through the rituals. There’s also a separate section for other deities like Lord Ganesha and Goddess Padmavati. The best time to visit is in the morning or evening during the aarti, when the entire temple glows beautifully with lamps and devotional music. Parking facilities and basic amenities are available for visitors, making it a convenient stop for families and pilgrims. Overall, Purva Tirupati Sri Balaji Temple is not just a place of worship but also a perfect spot to find peace and connect spiritually amidst nature. A must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Guwahati.

This temple is worth visiting if you are traveling to Guwahati, Assam. It serves as a good option in the region (Assam/Northeast) for devotees of Balaji / South‑Indian style Vishnu worship, without having to travel to Tirupati. PROS: 1. ARCHITECTURE OF THE TEMPLE: The architecture is truly gorgeous: it follows the South‑Indian (Dravidian) style, with a white‑granite facade, tall gopuram (entrance tower) and well‑carved pillars. 2. AMBIENCE AND MAINTENANCE: Both the ambience and maintenance are good: The temple grounds are clean, the landscaping is nice, and the overall environment is peaceful. 3. GOOD FACILITIES: There’s ample parking, gardens or open spaces around for families or for spending some time beyond just “darshan”. 4. RITUALS & SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE: The main deity (Lord Venkateswara/“Balaji”) is carved from a single stone of ~4 tons as reported, giving it a sense of grandeur. CONS: 1. PHOTOGRAPHY IS RESTRICTED: Photography inside the temple is restricted / not allowed in certain areas. In my opinion, this is a good restriction since people nowadays are more into taking photos rather than actually 'see'ing and experiencing the place as a whole. 2. CROWDS: At peak times (weekends, festivals) it can get crowded — though the crowding is manageable because the grounds are large. OVERALL VERDICT: This temple is worth visiting, especially if you are in or around Guwahati (Assam) and looking for a spiritually significant, well‑maintained temple dedicated to Lord Balaji / Venkateswara with South Indian architectural flavour. It offers a good blend of devotion + comfortable facilities. It may not feel as remote or “ancient” as some very old temples in hill‑locations, but for its location and style it delivers strongly. PRACTICAL TIPS: • Try to go in the morning or early in the afternoon to avoid most of the crowd. • Wear modest clothing; since the architectural style is South Indian and the setting formal, it’s better to be respectful in attire. • Be aware of the “no photography” rule inside the main sanctum/temple — you can probably take pictures of the exterior and gardens. •If you’re travelling by your own vehicle, parking seems available and convenient. • Spend a little extra time in the gardens/grounds if you like a quieter reflection; the open space is definitely a plus. • Check the timing of the aarti/puja if you wish to attend it — the aarti adds to the experience.

The Balaji Temple in Guwahati, often called "Purva Tirupati," is a striking and serene South Indian-style temple that feels like a piece of Tirupati transported to the Northeast. It's dedicated to Lord Venkateswara and immediately impresses with its towering, pristine white gopuram (entrance tower) and intricate carvings that tell stories of devotion. Inside, you'll find a grand idol of Lord Balaji, carved from a single, massive stone, along with shrines for Goddess Padmavati and Garuda. The overall atmosphere is incredibly peaceful and spiritual, a welcome escape from the city's hustle. Beyond being a place of worship, it's also an architectural marvel, especially when lit up at night, and often hosts cultural events. It really stands out for its blend of sacred tradition and impressive craftsmanship, making it a significant spiritual and visual landmark.
Priyanka S — Google review
If someone ever told you that to meet Lord Venkateswara you need to climb the hills of Tirumala and brave an ocean of devotees — hold your bells! Because nestled quietly in the green lap of Betkuchi, Guwahati, the majestic Purva Tirupati Sri Balaji Temple offers all the South Indian serenity and sacredness, without needing you to pack your trekking shoes. This pristine white marble marvel, inaugurated in 1998, feels like someone hand-carried a slice of Tamil Nadu and lovingly placed it in Assam’s cultural thali. The architecture is authentically Dravidian, the priests speak fluent Tamil and Sanskrit, and the overall vibe is — how do we say it — divine, with a side of filter coffee soulfulness. Facts That’ll Make You Go “Oh Wow” (Or at Least Nod Thoughtfully) - Built by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and funded largely by devotees and temple trusts, it serves as a spiritual and cultural bridge between South and Northeast India. - The main deity, Lord Venkateswara (Balaji), is flanked by shrines dedicated to Padmavathi Devi and Garuda, his eternal wingman (literally). - The temple is adorned with intricate granite carvings and South Indian-style gopurams, making it Instagram-worthy even if you're not religious. - A community hall and meditation centre nearby offer both spiritual nourishment and spaces for events, yoga, and discourses. Why It's Totally Worth Your Time (and Pranam) - The temple isn’t just a place of worship — it’s a peaceful escape from the noisy world, ideal for soul-searching or simply soul-soothing. - Evening aarti here is a spectacle — chants, lamps, and that surreal sense of “all-is-well” washing over you. - Entry is free, and the crowd is usually well-behaved — making it senior-citizen and family friendly. Reflections: If you ever find yourself in Guwahati needing a spiritual recharge — or just an hour away from traffic and tapori music — this temple delivers tranquility in temple bell-sized doses. Final Verdict: A pocket of peace and piety in Assam that feels like a divine southern detour. You don’t need Google Maps to find peace here — just a little faith.

The interior and the ambiance is nice. The food is however okayish. I feel the lighting is a little inadequate. The food as compared to price and quantity is great. The service is however not so good. It took little long to serve our food. Out of whatever I ate I'll recommend CCBC and Farmhouse Pizza. Also if you're a student there is 15% off offer.

The newest entrant to the cafe culture of guwahati. This place has amazing food, the food is really tasty. Every bit of the menu is worth tasting. The ambience is pretty. Has a smoking zone too. Overall amazingly created. Give it a try.
Salma N — Google review
Beautiful decor and ambience makes it an awesome place to visit and hangout. The staff are friendly but one of the waiters behaviour was not good. For ordering food, you have to scan QR code with your smartphone and the menu appears on your phone and enter the pin and all so if they not added your pin then you have to wait. Preparing food takes time but quality and taste is good. Overall it was a good experience. Do visit at least once.
Kunal B — Google review
I have visited here for almost 2 or 3 times with my friends. And the ambience is really nice and the air conditioning makes it a lot more comfortable to spend some quality time with your loved ones. The quality of the food is good as well. Some food are a bit expensive in comparison to the quantity of food being served. Other than that everything is good to go.
Medha D — Google review
Loved the place.. the ambience the food the staff services were all at par.. enjoyed it a lot.. will definitely visit again.. it has turned out to be one of my favorite. I am attaching pics to prove the same... If you haven't visited yet it surely is a good place to spend your money.. #letsguide

Don't go for the looks... The food here looks great but doesn't taste great... We ordered chicken lasagna, it was not properly cooked. We even ordered a pizza, the crust was way too hard even it wasn't tasty. Only thing we liked was the American crispy corn.

Nestled in the heart of Guwahati, Reboti Chat House is a cherished culinary landmark that has stood the test of time. This beloved eatery evokes nostalgia for many locals, including renowned chef Saikia, who fondly recalls his college days spent enjoying its signature dishes. The menu features delightful options like Reboti Special Chowmein, Chicken Chowmein, and Egg Chowmein—each dish a perfect blend of traditional flavors and modern flair.
An old place for food like Chow, Roll etc. Nice place with old memories. But not a fancy one. No table inside. Old benches. Normal place to have food and fo.

It's one of my favourites. From class 11. It has been 3 Years and it doesn't disappoint me. I really loved the food in that time and now also. I really recommend it..
Nabajit — Google review
Over priced. The reboti which I used to know was servicing good food at a good rate. But now the rate is too high. According to their price menu the quantities of every item they served was too small. Overall good.
Meenakshi T — Google review
One of the oldest Roll & Chowmein centre in Guwahati city! Quality may have reduced over time, but still a busy & crowded place whenever you visit there!
Biprajit S — Google review
I would have never rated reboti chat house so low. I have tasted their chowmein since 2000, veg chow was 20rs and chicken chow was 35. Quality and quantity was perfect. Now prices increased but quality eventually decreased. They are just running because of the hype+location. Because today I tasted the worst veg chow at 60 rs/ half plate which would have tasted much better at a roadside stall. Even managed to talk with one but he assured that their oldest chef was working tonight. Might be very wrong with my tongue or their food
Autokraze — Google review
Reboti Chat House used to serve amazingly delicious food, but my recent visit was disappointing. I had asked for Chicken Reboti Special Chow, but was served regular Chicken Chow — which I realized only after a few bites. The taste was bland, and the freshness that made this place special was missing. Hope they bring back their old standards.chicken Special Roll was similarly tasteless.
PRADYOUT H — Google review
Found it overhyped, nothing special as such. Only good thing is that chicken pieces are bigger in size
David S — Google review
Reboti chat house is an emotion for the people of Guwahati. Always crowded with lots of people and their service is rocket fast. The chow from veg to non veg is the most popular along with their rolls.A must visit for fast food lovers.

Bakery
This is one of the oldest bakeries in Guwahati, with a loyal customer base spanning over 60 years. However, Shaikh Brothers has struggled to keep up with changing times as it gained popularity during an era of lower expectations. While it still attracts regular customers, its failure to adapt has led to subpar food quality. Although some items like the mutton patty are enjoyable to a certain extent, overall offerings range from average to good.
Shaikh Brothers is a well-regarded bakery with a rich history dating back to 1885. It is known for its nostalgic value among locals, offering a variety of baked goods such as cakes, cookies, and pastries. Its highlight the consistency in taste and quality over the years. It is a beloved spot for both its historical significance and delicious offerings.

Shaikh brothers is the most oldest bakery shop in Guwahati. And their cakes, cookies and bake items are really tasty and worth trying. I loved their fruit cake which is tasty. I attached photos as well

One of the oldest bakeries in India and the oldest in the whole Northeast India, dates back to 1885. They are still a family owned bakery but have maintained their high standards when it comes to any baking food items, be it cakes, pastries, cookies or puffs - in different flavors and varieties. They also have other food products like chocolates, candies and other items. Their butter cookie is to die for. Love this place!
Sanghamitra D — Google review
One of the oldest and best bakeries in Guwahati . We tried the chicken piece ,chicken roll and chicken laccha paratha . Tasty and set at a reasonable price .
Priyakshi C — Google review
Sheikh Brothers is one of the most iconic bakery in Assam and one of the oldest bakery in the city. Talking about the food here which is amazing and quite a lot of variety is seen and also the pricing is really reasonable. The range that the bakery offers is amazing, the bread, the cakes feel soft and really delicious. Overall a must visit if you wish to get your hands on good cakes and other confectionery.
Sahil S — Google review
Old heritage of Guwahati very old and supreme bakery with lots of varieties. They have cakes pastries bread items and other Patties items. Located at a Prime location this place is always crowded with customers.
Rajib B — Google review
One of the oldest bakeries in town. Love the cookies and the snacks out there. We bought Naankhatai, chocolate cookies and salted cookies. In snacks, we purchased Chicken Burger, Chicken Roll, Chicken Pizza and Roast Chicken. All the food was delicious but the Roast Chicken was a must try. The place is really busy but servicing is really good. Prices are reasonable. You are not allowed to eat inside the bakery. A must try for everyone.

Must try their Coconut puff and Chole (chickpea) puff here. I did not like their cakes though. Chicken and egg items tasted good too, but definitely not the freshest.

Barbecue restaurant
Barbeque Nation is a vibrant dining destination that stands out in Guwahati's culinary scene, renowned for its interactive grilling experience and extensive buffet offerings. This popular chain restaurant invites guests to enjoy a unique meal where they can grill their own meats and vegetables right at the table, creating an engaging atmosphere perfect for food lovers. The restaurant features an unlimited barbecue buffet that tantalizes both the palate and the senses, making it a must-visit spot for anyone seeking diverse flavors.
I had the pleasure of visiting Barbeque Nation, Guwahati branch on 24th September 2025, and it was a truly delightful experience. From the moment I entered, the warm ambiance and welcoming staff set the tone for an enjoyable dining outing. The quality of food was excellent, with a wide variety of starters, grills, main course dishes, and desserts. The live grill on the table was a highlight, offering freshly cooked, flavorful items that were perfectly seasoned. Each dish was well-prepared and tasted fresh, reflecting the restaurant’s commitment to quality and hygiene. The buffet spread had something for everyone, ensuring that both vegetarians and non-vegetarians could relish their favorites. Equally commendable was the polite and attentive behavior of the staff. They were always available to assist, explain the dishes, and even customize the spice levels on request. Their courteous attitude made the entire dining experience more enjoyable, as they ensured that every guest felt comfortable and satisfied. Despite being busy, they managed to maintain prompt service with a smile, which speaks volumes about their professionalism and training. The desserts were the perfect ending to the meal, with a range of options from traditional sweets to modern favorites. Overall, everything was well-organized, clean, and customer-friendly. I would highly recommend Barbeque Nation, Guwahati, to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience with great food and excellent service. It’s a place where you not only enjoy delicious meals but also feel genuinely cared for as a guest.

I am a regular visitor of bbq nation and this was my first visit to their Ghy outlet. So I had a general idea of what to expect in regards to their concept, food and service, and I was not disappointed. They had a chicken festival going on and we were served 5-6 chicken items on our table. Chicken keema pav and kababs were my favorites. Other Starters were very good. We really love their corn fry, cajun potatoes, dahi kababs, and fish kababs. I did not like the salad spread they had. They felt kept and getting stale. Main course was not special as always. I think BBQ nations don't tend to bother with main course as most go their to enjoy starters. Dessert section was also nothing special although I enjoyed the malai and Kesar pista kulfis. The service was of top quality. However, 1 complaint I have is that this restaurant is not as comfortable for a group of 2. The 2 seater we got( we couldn't change the seats as the restaurant was packed full that day) were too small. We had to constantly get the table cleared by the waiters to make room for more. All in all, it was a pleasant experience.

Went to Guwahati Barbeque Nation Near to Lachit Nagar. They have served all the veg and non-veg grill options too quick and the taste was average for some dishes and good for some. The service was good the staff were talking politely. The buffet portion is so average. Whatever we wanted extra they provided us in our table. We went two person but the seating arrangement for two person is quite small as I think. We get a table which has a different seating arranagement one beside another and in the corner which sometime creating issues to manage. The dessert section is also okay not too much hi-fi to say.

Pay 1000+(including GST) due to diwali for Non Veg but the taste is not as expected.. Stuffs behavior is good
Parikshit S — Google review
It's a good Restaurant, mostly everything was tasty, out of the 10- 15 items I ate, just 2 were total rubbish... Rest all were tasty... Desserts it was a bit different, half the desserts were garbage (had to spit it out) ... The other half was ok. They should improve the desserts part. Snacks and main course like I said, is mostly good. They have their own dedicated parking, which is great because it's on a very busy street. All in all good Restaurant.

I would like to thank all the supporting staff for their presence and constant quick service. They were so humble. We went there for our girls out/reunion and loved the atmosphere. The chef personally greeted us and served us hot and delicious dishes plus we got free face art and nail paint that made our day. We are so so happy and would love to come again. Thank you all for making our day memorable 💙💗

I recently visited Barbeque Nation and had an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious, especially for non-vegetarians – from juicy kebabs to perfectly grilled chicken and mutton, every dish was full of flavor and served hot and fresh. The staff were extremely friendly and professional, always attentive and quick to serve with a smile. Their hospitality really made the experience even better. I would highly recommend Barbeque Nation to couples, families, and even solo food lovers. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and it's a great place to enjoy a hearty meal if you're a non-vegetarian. A must-visit spot for anyone who truly enjoys barbeque and buffet-style dining!

**A Memorable Feast at Barbeque Nation!** Today’s visit to Barbeque Nation was absolutely delightful! The ambience was vibrant, the food was incredible, and the *Kukkad Carnival Festival* meant endless, mouthwatering chicken dishes—pure heaven for a chicken lover like me! What truly made the experience special was the warm hospitality. The staff was wonderful, especially the manager, *Hasanur*, who was exceptionally friendly. *Samdwan* and *Sanjhita* were also amazing—their cheerful and welcoming personalities added so much joy to our meal. Everything was perfect, and I can’t wait to visit again! 🍗🔥😊
