The Wright Brothers National Memorial is a prominent and historic landmark in the Outer Banks, featuring a 60-foot tall monument that has been open to the public since 1932. Visitors can explore exhibits and stand at the take-off spot of the first successful airplane flight. The memorial offers a glimpse into the lives of the Wright brothers through reconstructed camp buildings and a walk along the flight line.
What a fantastic experience!! This is a great place for all ages. Due to the historical significance, I definitely recommend visiting at least once in your life. It was fun learning even more about the Wright Brothers and their first flights than I knew before. It was a deeply moving experience with the commemorative memorials. The visitor center/museum was a beautiful 'Mission 66' 1960s themed building. I love the classic look and engineered design!
Emily T — Google review
This is a really nice area! If you have younger kids this might be a little boring for them. As someone who has always enjoyed aviation I thought it was awesome. You have to take time to get through the museum before going outside to understand what everything is. There is a nice gift shop here as well.
JorGen R — Google review
A must see attraction when in the area! Great for children! There's definitely a lot of walking and some climbing but you can still enjoy the memorial without the walking and climbing! The visitor's center has lots of information and things to see! The ranger program was fun and informative!
N W — Google review
If you are into history and Aviation you will love this place. Adonis the guide that gave the presentation was amazing! He should be on stage in NYC or CLE! Standing and walking the flight line that the Wright Brothers used was a touching feeling. And the climb to the top of the National Memorial was exhilarating! Don't forget to get you passport stamped!
Max C — Google review
Awesome experience, fun and historical to see the monument, sculpture and barn. Due to the Government Shutdown the museum, tour and general parking is all closed off but you can still walk around the property and see the monument and stuff. I walked around while listening to a podcast and felt like I was getting pretty much the whole experience. Use the First Flight airport parking lot and walk in. The airport has no gate.
Jonathan L — Google review
What a fun experience! We have all seen the first flight video and it was so cool to visit where it happened. There were even markers marking each milestone. The woman at the front gate today was the best human EVER! She was so informative and bubbly. The staff was very friendly and engaging, and the facility and property were beautiful. This was fun for the grandparents, parents, and kids!
JTA P — Google review
Well, we drove a long way too get there and didn't realize that it was closed because of the government shutdown. We could still climb the hill to the memorial and the replica flyer but we were unable to go into the museum so that was a disappointment. Be aware that the memorial is a very steep climb and it's very windy, hence why they picked it.
Ames P — Google review
Awesome memorial to the Wright Brothers and the first flight. Great little gift shop with good quality clothing made in U.S. you can bring your dog along for the walk up the sand dune to the outside memorial, too! Good clean facilities

Lost Treasure Golf

4.3
(1718)
Miniature golf course
Lost Treasure Golf in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina offers year-round family-friendly fun with its dual 18-hole mini-golf courses. Themed after the expeditions of Professor Duffer A. Hacker, players can explore an old-timey mining town with water features and even enjoy a train ride. The location also provides a complimentary tram for customers with mobility issues to move between the hub and the entrance of each course. Visitors appreciate the unique experience and friendly staff at this beachside mini-golf destination.
We LOVED this place! There are 2 courses, and a train ride takes you to the beginning of both. The theme of the course is great. It's clean and well-kept, and both courses were fun to play (even a little challenging in places). I'd definitely come back!
Kaylyn W — Google review
Fun treasure themed mini golf park with 2 courses of 18-hole each. Variety of shots with obstacles, banks, water, caves, but not so difficult it's not fun. And who doesn't love a train ride to the top of the mountain to start! A little pricier than some mini golf courses we've played in other beach areas (Myrtle Beach or Panama City) but we didn't go anywhere else in the area to compare prices in OBX. The course was well maintained. We had a fun time!
TodayIsOurAdventure — Google review
We had fun during our visit to Lost Treasure Golf. Our group played the Diamond course. They were quite busy but the line to board the train and begin playing moved quickly. It was worth the wait as we had a good time. We did wish there were more obstacles but we had fun all the same. The greens are in good condition and have subtle slides and dips that you have to watch out for ⛳
Joseph G — Google review
This is a great mini golf place. It is pirate themed. You get to take a train to the top of the course. They have two tracks you can choose from and a special joke each day. There are some easy holes and some more challenging holes. This is one of our favorite places to golf.
Tara F — Google review
We did the diamond course, well made it to like hole 11 before rain n storms were rolling through. Mini golf was fun here but expensive!!! Not making it through the course made it worse too. Anyways we would comeback as the course is fun but a bit pricy. We should've checked the coupon books for discounts. People were fine.
Mike M — Google review
Went on a summer Thursday night and it was pretty busy, train ride was short but fun with interesting elements. Whole thing was themed pretty cutely. Courses were well maintained but watch out!… the cups where the ball goes in sit above the turf so it can be a challenge to get the ball in. Only negative was that the water was just a little bit stinky, not a big problem, just a pet peeve.
Evan F — Google review
First and foremost, coming from our first mini golf attempt in Florida, I was a bit mad about the price for four adults.... After we started playing... It all went away! My family had a blast, and so did I!!!! We spent about an hour there, with 18 holes of pure fun for the family. We really had a great time there, and there was no wait when we arrived, but as we were leaving, there was a line to the parking lot. That tells you how good the place was.
Ricky B — Google review
What a neat idea to have a train ride up to the golf course. Fun place to play, challenging holes, friendly staff. Clean restrooms and plenty of parking.

Visitors to the area can explore other local breweries such as Northern Outer Banks Brewing, Whalehead Brewery, Swellsa Brewing, Lost Colony Brewery, and 1718 Brewing for growlers or crowlers.
Great place outside to sit with our pup. Hubby had the fish and chips and a beer and enjoyed it. Bonus, they have a gluten free menu, but cross contamination is still possible. Really enjoyed it. Jacob was our bartender and he was awesome.
Sarah T — Google review
This was our favorite restaurant we went to on vacation and in fact we ate dinner here twice in our week there. My husband is vegetarian and in general the Outer Banks is not the most vegetarian friendly place to eat. He had multiple options, including a homemade veggie burger, a beet salad, jalapeño cheese curds, etc. The staff is all friendly and nice. And the backyard is the icing on the cake. Large outdoor seating area with picnic tables, a pirate ship playground, live music, and allows dogs. We will definitely be returning on our next vacation.
Emily R — Google review
This was the first brewery we visited during our stay in Kill Devil Hills. Great choice...loved the outdoor seating with live music. Enjoyed the beer too. The food wasn't bad either.
Larry H — Google review
Stopped here to grab a drink before heading to our rental. The outdoor space is dog friendly and awesome to hang out in. Lots of shade is provided by the trees and vining plants that are part of the landscaping. Picnic tables with umbrellas are scattered around, and the outdoor bar has some seating available. We were greeted by the friendly bartender, who immediately offered our pup water. The beers were good and we enjoyed hanging out. You'd never know you were in the hustle and bustle when you're in this space!
Heather T — Google review
By far our favorite meal during our stay on OBX. Handicap accessible, delicious food. We had the skirt steak Caesar Salad (enormous portion of steak!) the jalapeño cheese curds, crab and shrimp dip, buffalo wings, and scallops with risotto. All highly recommended!!
Elizabeth C — Google review
Came with the wife, two young by kids under 4, and our big dog. We had an excellent experience! Super family oriented and very friendly, casual vibes. The huge outside area and play space for kids makes this the perfectly food stop. Will come back whenever we past through! But the way the FOOS was SO GOOD. Holler are the motz sticks, 11/10!
Trolando — Google review
I had the fish n chips with their signature Kölsch, and it was absolutely delicious. The fish was perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside. The thick-cut fries were tasty. Everything paired nicely with the creamy tartar sauce and fresh slaw. The Kölsch was light, crisp, and refreshing, and it's an ideal match for fish n chips. Great food, great beer, and a cool layed back relaxed vibe. True gem in OBX. Plenty of parking is a plus.
B C — Google review
Lively atmosphere with great live music and a fun weekly market on site! Super kid-friendly — the pirate ship play area was a huge hit. Food was tasty, service was quick, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. It was busy but never felt overwhelming thanks to the spacious outdoor area. 100% recommend for families — we’ll definitely be back on our next OBX visit!

Smokin’ Mississippi Chicken BBQ was amazing! My partner really liked his hot dog and fries. We also had a special sundae made with french toast that was delicious. Will definitely be back!

Breakfast AND dessert?? Yes please. I got the Wicked Waffle and it was wonderful. Parking and seating is a bit limited but I think we went at a good time.

Only outdoor seating. Great custard. Never gotten their food but it always smells good. I love the brownie sundae.
Lara — Google review
Looking over the menu there were a ton of options that sounded good, the sea turtle and the waffle sandwich both sounded awesome. The sea turtle was awesome!! Very good “ice cream” and sauces, a little more nuts on it would have made it even better.
Dave R — Google review
So tasty. One of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten. Had my favorite custard flavor while I was on vacation here this week and it was delicious as always! Prices are fantastic - burgers are under $8 even after adding cheese. I do miss the plastic bucket that the jumbo fries used to be served in (family of 5-6 so we always buy the jumbo to share). I have been coming here every summer for the past decade and will continue to do so!
Kate M — Google review
Our favorite place to chill out after a long day in the OBX. Whether it’s a sweet treat or savory snack, this place always delivers. It’s a must visit (multiple times) every trip down.

5 Stars! There wicked waffle (not the sundae one) is so delicious 😋 The service was also quick, took less than 3 minutes!!!
Jacob V — Google review
Tried this spot for the first time on my last vacation and let me just say it was spectacular! We went two days in a row it was that good and every single employee was so kind and always repeated our order to ensure it was correct. The food came out hot, fresh, and fast which was incredible given how busy it was. The beach fries are top tier, everything you would want with the crisp edges and the sea salt 🤤 If you try one new spot in the OBX let it be this please!!

Nestled in the scenic Kill Devil Hills area, this outfitter offers exhilarating kayak and stand-up paddleboarding tours that allow you to immerse yourself in nature. Picture yourself gliding through the tranquil waters of the Roanoke Sound or exploring the lush Kitty Hawk Maritime Forest on a guided tour.
My boyfriend and I kayaked with our tour guide Gavin on 5/24/2025, and we had a phenomenal time! Gavin was an awesome guide, and shared fun facts about the flora and fauna, as well as the historical significance of the area. We loved seeing two juvenile alligators, lots of insects and birds, tons of turtles, and even a black bear when we were headed out in our vehicle. So glad we booked this Alligator River Refuge trip at Buffalo City. When we are back in the outer banks, we will definitely book with y'all again!
Caitlynn — Google review
Our family did the sunset kayak tour. It was an amazing experience! We loved seeing the sunset from the water! Lots of photo opportunities. We were in and out on the exact times listed in the description. Our guide Donny was very knowledgeable about the area, he shared fun stories and was great with our young ones. Definitely recommend! We will be booking again next year.
Christina Y — Google review
I booked the Alligator River kayaking tour and instructor Gavin did an outstanding job! He was very passionate and excited to share the history of the area we kayaked. We learned so much from Gavin while seeing so many cool things! We were able to see 3 gators, some turtles, North Carolinas state tree, and smell the wax Myrtle leaves. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Outer banks. Thank you for a great time !
DANIELA C — Google review
While on vacation in the area, I really wanted to take my children kayaking. I researched several different companies and decided on the Kitty Hawk Maritime Forest and Marsh tour with Outer Banks Kayak Adventures. I was not disappointed! Our guide, Gavin, was amazing! He was so knowledgeable and patient! He even had great tips for other places to check out while we are in the area. This tour was exactly what I was hoping for! This is such a good activity for families that want to do something a little different while at the beach!
N W — Google review
Our tandem kayak tour through Alligator River NWR with Gavin was incredible!! We did the early morning tour and it was unbelievably peaceful, serene, and refreshing. Our small group saw a variety of alligators, turtles, butterflies, and birds (and luckily not too many bugs). Gavin was personable and we shared lots of stories and laughs, and he gave us great history on the surrounding area. Although we have kayaked previously, he was very helpful getting us in and out of the kayak/water and keeping us comfortable and safe! I’d imagine any beginners would be completely at ease with his tours! We learned a lot, had a great morning, and would definitely come back to this tour or try out any of the other adventures they offer— HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking to get a unique experience through Alligator River!! 🐊

Fantastic experience with Outer Banks Kayak Adventures. We did the Kitty Hawk Maritime Forest & Marsh Tour. Becks was an incredible guide who pointed wildlife and shared the ecology and history of the area. Tour was roughly 90 min and great for all ages. No bugs and the scenery was stunning.
David M — Google review
I really enjoyed my kayak paddle through the Kitty Hawk Maritime Forest. I went on a Wednesday morning in September after some stormy days, which made for a quiet and serene experience in the nature preserve. Gavin was my knowledgeable and friendly tour guide, who shared a lot of information about wildlife in the area as well as some history. 10/10 would recommend this tour to others (including women traveling solo) -- a safe and fun experience!
Rachel L — Google review
Fantastic morning trip! Booking on line was easy. After a brief talk we had an enjoyable two hour paddle at a leisurely pace on flat water, some open and some in winding creeks. We saw several alligators and always felt safe. The historic background of the area was a nice bonus.

SO. GOOD. 'Nuff said. Give 'em a try and you won't go anywhere for pizza in the OBX thereafter. Great service, too! Wish i could remember the gal's name who's served me a couple times this week...'cause she remembered mine!
Kevin L — Google review
Amazing pizza, great prices. They want to move you in and out fast. It was my 1st time there and it was go go go. I wanted a garlic knot or 2 but they only sell them in 6 and they are huge. I was by myself so didn't need 6. No indoor seating, luckily it was nice out and I found a table outside. Not much patience, for me or the man behind me, but great pizza.
Tanya D — Google review
Ordered take out & received incorrect pizza. We ordered 1 meat lovers with extra cheese and 1 other pizza (3 toppings on 1 1/2 & plain cheese on the other 1/2) - we received the correct 2nd pizza but received a cheese only pizza instead of meat lovers. I think this was an attention to detail issue.
Heather F — Google review
Got the Philly Cheeseteak and the White Spinach. The toppings were flavorful but huge. I'd prefer smaller topping more spread out and more sauce as well. The end of the crust is way too chewy though. Not crispy at all. I'd give it 3.5 stars if that was possible.
Mark J — Google review
Lived here my whole life never had a disappointing meal from Slice however tonight when we got our food and we paid 6.50 for mozzarella sticks, we were very disappointed in them. They tasted like frozen mozzarella sticks and the sauce was not that great however pizza is very good.
Katrina G — Google review
Stopped in for an easy dinner night! Service was pretty quick, they took our order, and we waited outside while it was thrown in the oven to warm up. Pizza was Delicious, and garlic knots were yummy! Only downside was the limited outside seating, was a little warm out, and flies were out pretty bad. All together, it was great pizza, and we'll come back for an easy, and cheaper meal!

Tucked away in the charming Kill Devil Hills, JK's Restaurant is a delightful gem that combines a cozy beach house ambiance with an impressive menu of wood-fired land and sea dishes. Since its inception in 1984, this beloved establishment has become a staple for both locals and visitors alike, renowned for its expertly prepared steaks and succulent seafood. The restaurant prides itself on using only the finest Midwest beef, ensuring each bite is bursting with flavor and tenderness.
We've been going to JK's since 2013 when visiting the Outer Banks. It is one of THE best steakhouses in NC. John is superb and he always makes us feel right at home when we are there! The staff is friendly and excellent as well. The steaks are exquisite and prepared perfectly. The flame grilled prime rib on Fridays is unique and worth making a special trip to try. Their sides are perfect "southern" compliments to the steak.

All I have to say is WOW!! we had 2 appetizers, a veal rack, a filet, and a rib eye absolutely amazing. My family enjoyed everything. The steak was seared to perfection, and the lobster bites were served with a tangy sauce. And our waiter was just fabulous. Knowledgeable and very prompt. This is definitely a 5-star restaurant
Candie B — Google review
Delicious everything! We are honeymooning in Nags Head, we are 5 days married, and this was our 1st big date night out. Enjoyed it all! We shared the wedge salad, vege soup, the Maytag salad, 20oz rib eye, and creme brulee. 😋
Jamie E — Google review
A great option for turf! After eating seafood for most of the week, this place was readily welcomed. And they didn’t disappoint. The veal & lamb were some of the best we’ve had. Even out of small beach towns. Well prepared and fresh. We had shots and drinks as well, atmosphere was positive and lively even on a Monday night. Would not recommend the espresso martinis, much too sweet and from what we could tell, didn’t contain espresso.. but other than that small detail, dinner was delicious. Margaritas were made well, we stuck with those. Asparagus and green beans as sides were perfect. Southern style. Very tasty. Don’t skip those. Quail and hen for appetizers.

Fuji Japanese Steakhouse is a modest yet captivating restaurant where skilled hibachi chefs prepare authentic Japanese cuisine right before your eyes. The experience is not just about the delicious meals, but also the entertaining show put on by the chefs as they skillfully grill meats and perform impressive tricks with knives and flying shrimp. The sushi bar offers a variety of fresh selections, both raw and cooked. Customers can enjoy attentive service at the bar while watching sports or other entertainment.
Hands down the best sushi in OBX! All of our food was BANGIN'. The kids menu has something on there for every kiddo and my daughter LOVED the frozen strawberry daiquiri. We highly recommend 👌
Lexie C — Google review
Very friendly chefs at the hibachi table. Had a good time! Sushi was also very tasty. I would go back again.
Jamie C — Google review
Typical hibachi/sushi Japanese restaurant at the beach. Food was pretty good service was good as well. The restaurant offers an extensive sushi menu as well as hibachi dishes. Stay away from the New York strip in the hibachi dishes. I asked for mine medium and it came back medium well. And it was kind of like chewing gum so not so pleasant to eat. Other than that it was a nice experience. There were four in our party and all enjoyed our food very much. This place is moderately priced but still reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get so a good value.
James H — Google review
As someone who had been to many hibachi restaurants, this one was really disappointing to go to. Our chef put little effort into the performance. While I understand that his day may not have been going well, we came for the show and got no effort. The food was also either really bland or it had way too much flavor soaked into it. Also, as they were cleaning the table, I kept getting food flung at me because I was sitting near the disposal, so that wasn’t a great feeling either. Overall, probably wouldn’t come here again.
Lilia K — Google review
Absolutely the best hibachi! All of the chefs are great. If you want a real show request the chef Mann aka Spiderman! You will laugh the entire time! The best prepared new York strip I've ever had! Great time! Excellent food!

Their sign said closed for lunch at 4pm. Wr walked in at 2:30. Gentleman asked us if we wanted a hibachi table or the sushi bar. As we had a 4 year old with us we said hibachi table. He then told us that the hibachi tables were closed until 5. When I said "oh really?" He said yes our last seating is at 2:30. I let him know that it was currently 2:30. He told us they had already closed it though so we left.

Pizza restaurant
If you're on the hunt for a quick and satisfying meal, look no further than Little Caesars Pizza. This popular carry-out chain is known for its delicious offerings, including mouthwatering chicken wings, signature breadsticks, and of course, their iconic pizzas made from housemade dough. One of the standout features is their Hot-N-Ready pizza—perfect for those spontaneous cravings! You can simply walk in and grab a large cheese or pepperoni pizza without any need to call ahead.
I’ve worked at Little Caesars back in the 90’s, so I occasionally get a craving to remember old times. I know many locations are hit or miss, but every time we vacation in the Outer Banks, I have to stop by here for at least one of our meals. This place always does it right. I’ve never had an order that was wrong or not made properly. The staff are always friendly and everything odd always ready on time. While many restaurants in a vacation town know they can charge higher prices, Little Caesars still keeps everything very fairly priced.

When no one wants to cook and you have a boatload of starving teenagers, Little Caesar's is our absolute go-to! Quick, cheap, hot, and tasty...well, taste being relevant to how fast it gets devoured. If you're coming up from the south, be careful turning across the southbound lanes.

Ordered 5 items. Received only 2 and paid 60$. Driver told us to call the restaurant since he's just the driver. Lady on the phone hung up on me twice. Very disappointing.
Hanna K — Google review
We ordered online the day before. 12 pizzas were ready on time, and the person at the front was friendly and bilingual. They were open on Sunday which was a big hit at the birthday party.
Ross T — Google review
20 May 2018 - SLOW. They never have anything ready to go. Consistently a 15 minute wait for our simple order. We live here, so it's not like it's happened once or twice. They have a big sign on the window that says "Hot-N-Ready from 4-8 pm". Ha! Yeah right. The guy working the register usually seems flustered and/or overwhelmed, so maybe they're short-staffed? But again, this is consistent, so maybe schedule another person or two for the dinner rush? Their only saving grace is your food comes out fresh and hot. Also, they consistently fill the sides of Crazy Suace only half full. Can we start paying 50 cents? Basically the only reason this place is tolerable is due to their online ordering. You know exactly when it's ready. Walk-in orders? Good luck.

What you expect. Fast, hot, consistent pizza. Perfect for a quick hit and a great park next door.

Stopped in here while waiting for our beach rental to be available. We'd never eaten Little Caesars pizza before as we are New York Pizza snobs. To our pleasure and surprise, the pizza was pretty good. The cheese was plentiful and it stayed on the thin, crispy crust. The sauce seemed fresh and was seasoned nicely though just a bit bland. The pizza was ready about 10 minutes after ordering and the price was more than fair. All in all, not a bad choice if you're looking for a tasty, quick and reasonably priced pizza.

We purchased 3 Calzoneys to go & pick up, Our usual order here when they are doing the limited time Calzoney promotion and the service was good. Our order was prepared and ready to be picked up in the time they said and the Calzoneys were hot and fresh. Very Pleased As Always At This Location ~ Highly Recommend

Jockey's Ridge State Park, located in the Outer Banks, is home to the East Coast's tallest dune. Visitors can enjoy activities such as hang gliding, hiking, and sand surfing. The park offers stunning views of the ocean and sound from the top of the 100-foot tall dune. It is a popular spot for kite flying and sand sledding, with Kitty Hawk Kites providing hang gliding lessons on-site.
This is a beautiful state park!! You can get 'lost' from the rest of the world and have a lot of fun. It is very windy, which makes for great kite flying or hang gliding. They offer hang gliding lessons here. There is a kite store across the street to purchase kites!! There is a recently uncovered sand castle from a mini golf place from the 1970s. That was pretty cool to see. In the early, quiet mornings, you may see some wildlife or animal tracks in the sand, including foxes, coyotes, and opossums. I fly kites frequently, but have never visited a spot as great to fly as here!Additionally, this place is great to watch the sunset from

Pleasantly surprised by this location! Went on a cloudy day so it wasn’t hot, super windy and VERY cool. Like walking on the moon! The views are incredible, so much space, and not a too far walk. Loved it! The visitor center is also super nice and informative and they had free stickers :) AND DOG FRIENDLY

This is a really cool place. I have a few tips after being here. Bring some kinda shoes that are throw aways. Crocs and sandals are useless in sand. The sand is not smooth like the beach it’s more gritty and sharp in places. Absolutely beautiful views from on top. We flew kites from on top and what a blast it was. Definitely can see why the Wright Brothers got flight near by. It’s a lot of walking here and it’s on soft sand so it really slows you down.

The tallest sand dunes in Eastern US are a beautiful sight to see. Been coming to Jockey's Ridge since I've been grade school and it nice to see that this site is being well maintained. These dunes are not an easy feat but well worth the uphill climb. Definitely a place to visit for nature lovers, very serene. Great free adventure for solo, couple, or family trips!

I am working my way through the 42 state parks in Nc and we went to Jockeys Ridge yesterday and the evening before. The best time to go is about 30 minutes before the sun sets. It has amazing views with a 360 degree view of Nags Head. The trail is all sand so as recommended I walked barefoot. It says it takes about 30 mins to 1 hour to get to the very top…I think it took us about 25. We went back yesterday morning to find out how to find the buried castle. We parked at the kite shop and crossed the crosswalk and the castle (which is no longer buried) was just a few yards from the road. Pretty neat and worth the stop!
Barbara B — Google review
This is a really fun and unique thing to do in the area. Theres a board walk through trees from the visitor center to the dunes. It isn’t a far walk up the dunes. It’s beautiful to see the ocean on one side and the sound on the other at the top of the dunes. It’s quite windy at the top, I saw many kites. I went in October and it was a perfect temperature and I was able to walk barefoot on the dunes.
Caitlin K — Google review
Such a massive sand dune! The climb to the top wasn't bad. If you're able to do it, I would definitely try! There is an observation deck, where you can see part of the dune. This is a great option for those with mobility issues. I also would not be bringing a stroller. We brought a boogie board and a saucer sled to try and sled down but we didn't have any luck with those.
N W — Google review
If you love hiking through a barren desert full of loose sand 5/5 stars. Your family will argue and you will need to pee halfway there. Hang gliding school is super friendly and rad!

Held an event there.... great for cookout, parties, workouts, playing some hoops, taking the kids to play, and letting that energy out... beautiful park and great place to go hang out if you want to be outside and in a public safe environment, and seconds from the beach, lol.

This park has it all, concerts, interactive play areas, cute gardens, barbecue, great picnic tables and benches to sit on, you name it. It. They are also public restrooms, and a decent amount of parking. It is right off the main Beach highway and easy to get to. We watched a great concert tonight and the band played under a covered pavilion. On weekdays during the summer, there are great farmers markets here with vendors, selling everything from arts and crafts to food and slushies.

Fun free park in Kill Devil Hills to spend some time at. Large open field, a great jungle gym and several gandicap accessible pieces of equipment that do not require transfer. A few areas to sit that have shade but in general this is a full sun location so plan accordingly. There are bathroom facilities on the opposite end of where picnic tables are located. Smoke parking and easy access. Need a break from the beach try here.

Visited the store with some friends, over heard the manger say extremely rude things to his own employees. He said just extremely rude to his team, and really threw off my shopping experience. Rest of staff were delightful and pleasant to be around, offered to help grip things and retrieve things for me from higher shelves. Would give the store 5 stars if it wasn't for the manager

SeaGreen Gallery, formerly known as Grays, has a rich history dating back to 1948 when it was established by Walter and Stelle Gray. The original store on the beach road in Nags Head has been transformed into a unique art gallery with 13 rooms filled with fine art and other treasures.
My only regret is not learning about this place sooner! The absolute cutest store filled with so many creative treasures! The more I looked, the more I loved & their back outdoor area! My goodness 😍 lizards, turtles, a duck, & Godzilla. We went in for rings (my friend had some really cute ones she purchased here) & left ready to re-decorate my house. Great place for unique gifts, too. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, clean restroom. The parking is a bit tight, but there’s a nearby beach access we parked at & then went for a beach walk.

THE MOST AMAZING PLACE EVER for all unique lawn and home decor. I almost don’t want to review so I can keep this place my own secret but GO SUPPORT THEM! And they’re SO KIND and helpful staff. I cannot begin to describe how beautiful and unique this location is. My girlfriend's know I'm a hippie at heart and surprised me with a visit here. Nice local pizza. Kinda what you wish for when you want outside the chains. Very cheesy. Loved the fact that the pepperoni has a crispness versus greasy and floppy. AND the pepperoni had a great flavor! A medium is plenty for 2-4 people. We got the Amercan Pie.

We grabbed pizza for the family during a recent trip to the Outer Banks, and American Pie Drive In was a solid choice. The pizza was tasty, though a tad greasy, but still enjoyable. This is the best pizza I have ever had. I've had a ton of pizza from a bunch of pizza places and none of them come close to tasting as good as this pizza. Me and my family live 5 hours away and when we come down here for our vacation this is the thing I look forward to the most. I would move down here to the beach just for this pizza. This is the first time my girlfriend came down to the beach with me for our vacation and all she could say was wow because it was that good.
Gaylord R — Google review
We ended up sitting outside because it was so busy, and honestly, I’m glad we did. Inside felt hot and cramped, but outside was much more comfortable. The buffet itself was excellent—tons of seafood and everything we tried was delicious! That said, the place wasn’t the cleanest. The bathroom was in such bad shape it was basically unusable, which really took away from the overall experience. I get that it’s hard to keep up with that many people coming through, but if cleanliness can’t be maintained, they should consider limiting how many guests they allow in at a time. So while the food was truly amazing, the overcrowded and less-than-clean environment made it tough to give this place the rating it could have earned.

Nearby Bodie Island also offers the opportunity to climb the Bodie Island Lighthouse.
It was a little overwhelming when I 1st got there. Bumper cars, arcade games, and interactive laser tag. Enjoyed the games. Several were not in operation, but it didn't hamper the fun. Others participated in laser tag. Great place to stay out of the rain while you're on vacation.

My daughter loves pretent playing. The lights are a great hit to her . To her it couldn't be better. It's a win

We did just the arcade. A handful of games weren’t available which I get things break but I found it super weird that none of the games gave back tickets. You just played and that was it and some even advertised winning tickets. Overall my kid was stoked so I can’t complain but it would be cool if there was an option to earn tickets/cash them in.
Vanessa R — Google review
We spent a little time here over break. My son enjoyed the bumper cars but be warned they take like 40 points to play. All other games take 8 points. For 20.00 you get 100 points. They did have a nice small selection of games. It’s worth it if it’s raining and you’re looking for something to do.

Destination Fun is the perfect spot for families. The arcade has a great mix of classic games and newer ones with big screens, lights, and fun prizes. Everything is clean and well-kept, and the staff are friendly and quick to help if a machine needs attention. It's an easy place to spend a couple of hours kids can run from game to game while adults join in or relax nearby. Prices are fair for what you get, and it's also a great option for parties or a rainy day activity. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

We have been going to Destination fun since David 1st opened the doors.. We were actually one of the 1st families to have a Birthday Party when it was just a picnic bench in a corner...David was a very kind and generous man once you got past his hard tough exterior and really understood him.. He was always giving extra games and prizes to the kids, and every year made sure to give them their own birthday gifts.. DAVID WILL TRULY BE MISSED and I believe he would be very proud of the new update to Destination Fun.. It looks ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and they have added lots of new games and so much more so everyone stop by, check it out, and have fun...
Raven S — Google review
The kids had fun despite it being fairly small; a lot of the space (perceived as large from the outside) is eaten up by the laser tag portion. Games cost an average of 60 cents in points per player / swipe. Beware of the bumper cars, which cost 4 dollars per person in points; getting on with a number of people can quickly drain your card, and unused bumper cars shrink the play space significantly.
Trent S — Google review
This is an enjoyable spot at the beach to spend a few hours with the kids out of the heat. They won’t break the bank either and are really well maintained and clean. Large variety of things to do and plenty of parking. The laser tag here is really great! So many levels and areas to hide and transit from, and it last a solid time, not one of these minute to play places. Super cool guns too, they have two modes for sharp shooting or up close battle. I don’t even play laser tag and this was really fun for me and the kids alike. Edit: we have been here 3+ times here and it is consistently clean and fun. The staff are friendly and the owner really cares about the place. You can see him working almost every time we come in, always working to improve it. Fixing games, adding areas, and generally putting his all into the place.

Miller's Seafood & Steak House is a family-owned and operated restaurant that has been a tradition since 1978. The warm hospitality and family values are evident as the Miller family personally checks on customers, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The extensive menu offers breakfast favorites like homemade biscuits and omelets, while dinner specialties include made-from-scratch hush puppies and local seafood options such as coconut shrimp and crab cakes.
the hush puppies were sweet and fried to perfection while my steak was cooked to medium rare with a good sear and topped with crispy onions and a garlic butter. my girlfriend got the bone in pork chop which she really enjoyed. the service was quick and friendly didn’t wait at all for a table although it was a busy Friday night and refills were always coming. after we finished our dinner we got the chocolate cake which had a delicious fudge like frosting on it. they provide you a coupon for 10% off for breakfast and a little card to leave a review on. we came back 2 days later for breakfast which was just as good as our previous dinner experience with some delicious blueberry hush puppies and banana topped french toast with bacon. overall this place was exactly what me and my girlfriend were hoping it would be. we will definitely be coming back here when we visit the area next.

The food was amazing and our waiter, Matt, was truly the best. It was my birthday so we splurged and got the Tomahawk steak and a surf n turf entree. Both steaks had a delicious seasoning, were cooked appropriately, and tasted great. Matt had a good sense of humor, was very attentive and just an all around great waiter. Thanks for making our experience memorable. We will definitely be back!

Really good quality seafood. Highly recommend the scallops (appetizer or meal). Crab dip was mid a little too cheesy, but that’s a preference. Server was nice and everything was presentable and tasty
Abby C — Google review
For the price, this place really missed the mark. We ordered the seafood platter for $39 expecting a decent variety and portion size, but it turned out to be very small. Overall, the portions just didn’t match the cost. I will say the waiter was kind and brought out complimentary bottles of tartar and cocktail sauce, which I appreciated. But the water was straight tap, not filtered, and with tip we ended up spending over $50 (food + tip) for what felt like a very light meal. The place was quite dark, too (as not enough lighting). It was a disappointing experience, and we won’t be coming back.

TL:DR Would give more stars if I could. Will definitely be back. Here on vacation, and know that the meals I find can be hit or miss, since, as someone passing through, I'm not going to have a chance to find all the fantastic little hole in the wall places that the locals know.. that's ok. This isn't a hole in the wall, but it's still fantastic. He got the NY strip (med rare) with mashed potatoes. He said "no complaints", which is descriptive, from him. I got the surf and turf with broiled flounder. I ordered my steak Bleu rare, which isn't common, I know... And they actually did it right. It had that perfect pitsburg char on the outside, buttery tender inside that I love so much. I asked for Lea & Perrins out of habit, but when I tasted the steak, I found it so perfectly seasoned that I never opened the bottle. I saved the hush puppies for dessert, because they are like a beignets' slight less sweet cousin. The tea was actually sweet enough, and the soft drinks are Pepsi products on tap. Huzzah.

Definitely my favorite meal of the week so far!! The surf and turf was really good!! The hush puppies were great too, with the powdered sugar on top they were like a dessert.

We found this place for the first time on our anniversary trip and ate here twice in 3 days. The food was fantastic. Best sushi we ever had and the cook on our steak was perfection. The servers were so friendly and attentive.

Fast food restaurant
Wendy's is a popular American fast-food chain known for its fresh, made-to-order hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. The menu also includes sides like chili and baked potatoes. While some customers have experienced slow service due to communication challenges with the staff, others have praised the efficiency and friendliness of the employees. One customer was impressed by the speed of service at the drive-thru and noted that their order was accurate.
The BEST Wendy's I have ever been to and I have eaten at Wendy's in every state. I could only see like 4 people inside working and yet my entire order not only was 100% correct but came out completely fresh and hot. They even bagged the food extremely neat. The employees were super friendly and fast. These employees hands down deserve a huge raise. I highly recommend ordering on the app as well for drive thru it makes it faster! I see there are other reviews complaining nobody speaks English, but they speak it just fine and it wouldn't hurt yall to learn a little Spanish since none of yall want to work these jobs yourselves be thankful someone else is.

The food and service are alright but could be better. The fries were a little cold, but they gave us new ones. Drink machine is broken, but they give refills at the counter. I love the ketchup cups for the fries. I don’t like how the giant letters on front windows block the view of outside and the inside decor is out dated.
M B — Google review
Food was fine. Dave's double and fries pretty consistent. Didn't have unsweetened tea in the lobby (I know I know. Most people drink sweet). Lobby AC or something was not working. It was a solid 85 degrees. I was breaking a sweat powering though my burger.
B C — Google review
At the beginning of visiting this location in kill devil hills NC I was actually very irritated because after I ordered the cashier kept repeating my order wrong...in her defense there was just a communication barrier. When she showed me the screen she actually had my order right but was just repeating it back wrong and I felt like a complete jerk afterwards and apologized for getting frustrated. The food was great I only gave the atmosphere a lower grade because their AC was not working so it was very hot in there . I applaud the staff for still working hard even with no AC in the middle of summer when the temp was 100 f that specific day and the heat index was 110

This was our first stop on our way to the grocery store in the morning. We were attracted to it because of the old Nostalgia Wendy's buildings. Service was quick and fast. Food was piping hot and tasted great. Only Downer was looking up at the ceiling and seeing the stuff around the vents. Other than that, great
Tierre B — Google review
The food was decent and the staff was friendly, but we couldn’t help but notice a homeless man sitting outside the restaurant. It made the experience feel a bit heavy, and we hope the store is able to find ways to help or connect with local outreach programs. It’s a reminder of the reality outside our daily routine. The visit was okay, but moments like that put things in perspective.
Kennedy S — Google review
The food isn't great. Often very sloppy. Every time I order here everyone that works here is so apathetic. And nobody speaks English? It's impossible to communicate beyond the most basic of drive thru orders. I love Wendy's but this location and even the other one in kitty hawk are just not it. I dont understand why everyone that works there hates it and why the food keeps getting worse and more expensive.
Eko — Google review
This was absolutely horrible. No one spoke English, Me and my son were starving from being on the beach all day and ordered a son of a bacon nator large and I ordered a Bacon nator large, cost us 26 dollars.I literally had 1 piece of bacon and my son had 1 piece of bacon it came out within 2 minutes so the fries were cold. It sucked and higher management needs to step in and do something to make it better.

If you're on the hunt for a satisfying meal during your travels, look no further than Five Guys. This beloved fast-food chain specializes in made-to-order burgers, hot dogs, and their iconic hand-cut fries. With an array of toppings to customize your burger—think cheese, bacon, mushrooms, and fried onions—you can create a flavor explosion that suits your taste buds perfectly.
Five guys is soooo good! Never gets old. I just wish it was healthier. Service is great and atmosphere is nice.

Burgers are just above average, nothing to brag about at all. Cheep tasing cheese, they do give you more fries than you would expect, but very greasy. Honestly most sit down restaurants burgers and fries are better. Service was great though. 1 Cheeseburger, fries and 2 fountain drinks $23

Went with my family yesterday. It was right at opening. Family ordered then I ordered a hotdog with fries. I asked the lady what she suggested for toppings and she simply waves at the board behind her. I said yes, I can read. I guess I say all of this to say she was just plain rude and didn't even attempt to be helpful. I will say everything was pretty good but the lady running the register definitely needs to work on her people skills. That was the quickest I ever got 0% on the tip screen in my life.

I pulled in 5 mins. to close and we had just a few mins earlier had been denied access to the Food Lion(RUDE LYIN') with 10 mins. left before they closed. I Walked into a super clean restaurant that had ppl hard at work preparing to shut it down for the evening. They, to my surprise when i asked if they minded dropping a big order of fries for me, the manager smiled and said ,"for sure!" It made Dad the hero again after forgetting to buy fries at the store earlier. I brought home a giant bag of FIVE GUYS fries hot and sizzling fresh!

I'm on Keto diet. Girl said I could get as many toppings as I wanted. So I had cheeseburger with no bun and plenty of toppings. It was tasty. Hubby had regular cheeseburger. It was all good. Thanks to the kind girl who helped me with diet.

Great burgers and fries always from 5 guys kinda hard to mess that up, The service from this particular store is not good, when I placed my order it said 6-11 minutes and I showed up about 8 minutes after receiving that notification... when I arrived I waoted an additional 25 minutes for 2 burgers and a drink. They handed me my milkshake as soon as I walked up to the counter so by the time I got my actual food the milkshake was no longer edible and fully melted. Not the worst but very very from the best.

The food was delicious! Unfortunately, the manager on duty with the red lipstick was incredibly rude when a cashier asked for change for his drawer. Disappointed that everyone had to hear the words she said. Be better to those who work under you, or speak with them privately. Sad.

Dirty Dick's Crab House in Nags Head is a local chain offering a variety of fried and steamed seafood, BBQ, burgers, and Southern sides in a laid-back setting. The menu features appetizing options like chicken etouffee, shrimp po' boys, oyster po' boys, pork chop po' boys with a touch of Cajun flavor. For those craving New Orleans vibes, there are Louisiana crawfish and shrimp creole over cheese grits.
Always amazing! We visited Dirty Dicks in Panama City recently as well. This place is always amazing, but somehow the food here was even better! I got the shrimp and grits and it was incredible! Great service! The chef (Katie) came by to check and make sure that everything was good. I asked for her name because she did such an amazing job. We've come here several times and this visit they outside themselves! Our server (Sheri) made sure our visit was enjoyable. We came by a second time before we left and got the buffalo shrimp. OMG! These were really great as well. I'm sure this is going to be an amazing season for y'all because you're on fire!

I really enjoyed this place! I have been wanting to come here for years and finally got the chance. It didn't disappoint. The food, service and atmosphere was outstanding. I only have positive things to say. I will definitely return!
Paul V — Google review
The atmosphere was fun and the service was good, but the food was a real disappointment. My husband’s first bite of his she-crab soup had a piece of shell in it, which set the tone for the meal. The house and Caesar salads were adequate, nothing special. I ordered the trio of shrimp, scallops, and lump crab meat. The shrimp and crab were nicely cooked, but the scallops were almost raw. Apparently, that’s just how they serve them, because my husband’s fried scallops and clams were also barely cooked, with a slimy texture. Portions are huge, which would normally be OK, but when you’re traveling, you can’t really take leftovers with you, and it’s a shame to waste that much food. Overall, we wouldn’t eat here again. There are plenty of better choices in the area for a similar price.
Veronique E — Google review
No wait to be seated and the staff was super friendly and quick. Food was good and the hush puppies were super savory (especially with the butter). Price wise for what they had to offer was a bit over my budget for lunch, but they had lots of options seafood wise. I'd love for some local caught seafood, but what we ate, didn't feel freshly caught nor local. Would we come back? I can say, Yes! Our server was super friendly and helped my kids decide what they wanted to eat.

Delicious food. Unique menu, unique name. Roadsigns drew us in and we were not disappointed. Portions are generous and the waitress was very attentive and friendly.
Scott C — Google review
My husband and I were truly impressed with our dining experience here! Our server was fantastic; extremely polite and attentive, and the steamed seafood platter we enjoyed was super fresh and cooked perfectly. To our surprise, the Caesar and Sangria were some of the most well-prepared cocktails we've had as well. The only thing we were upset by is that we couldn't bring our leftovers (and there were lots!) as we were traveling. This place really lived up to the hype, and is definitely not just a novelty restaurant, as we initially thought it might be.
Jocelynn V — Google review
We were seated right away. Our waiter was amazing, funny and very knowledgeable! Price was a little steep, but it's seafood, so that was expected. The food was good and my mixed drink was amazing 👏. The cup it comes in, is in the picture I posted. If you like fruity, sweet, and strong, you will love it! I can't remember the exact name, but it's Drirty Dick's something... The name is in red on the menu. They also have a nice gift shop. Overall I had a nice experience there.

This was my first time dining here, and it definitely won’t be the last ! Kristi was our server and she truly made the experience exceptional. She checked in regularly without being overbearing and kept the whole section in great spirits with her positive attitude and attentiveness. Our food arrived quickly, exactly as we ordered it, and everything tasted amazing. Kristi’s fast and accurate service made the meal even more enjoyable. It's clear she takes pride in what she does, and it really made a difference. I’ll definitely be coming back and hoping Kristi is our server again!

Awful Arthur 's was an absolutely fantastic dinner for our family. The food tastes great, I highly recommend the clams casino and clam strips. They made a really good crab cake as well. We were all very pleased and want to go back again before we head home. Must stop.

I had the steamed combo with oysters, clams, shrimp, and crab legs. Everything was fresh and tasted great—especially the crab legs. The seafood was cooked just right, and the portion was perfect for a light seafood fix. Service was friendly and quick. Great spot if you’re craving fresh, no-fuss seafood. Would definitely come back!

Our family came here our last night of our vacation. The bartender upstairs in the bar area was great. Our waitress was great. The place was beautifully decorated. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. All seven of us were not impressed. The hush puppies were way over done. Our meals were greasy and tasteless.

We went here on a holiday weekend and the wait time was 2 hours, but we were able to go to an upstairs area and have some cocktails with a view of the water while we waited. The food was incredible, service was a little slow but it was incredibly busy and I assume it’s not always like that. Would definitely recommend!

The pier offers daily, three-day, weekly and seasonal fishing passes as well as sightseeing options for a modest fee. Additionally, children's passes are available for kids 12 and younger.
Great pier with great prices. Family friendly with an arcade and fishing from the pier. You can rent or buy any fishing equipment you need there. They also have some decent food and options. Bar had good happy hour prices and friendly knowledgeable bartenders. People on dock were very friendly and some regulars were there that caught some awesome catch and helped out.

We had so much fun fishing off the pier that we visited two days in a row! The sunset was gorgeous. We saw HUGE mantarays in the water. The ray in the picture probably had and 8-10 foot wide wingspan, it was phenomenal. The pier has great snacks and everything you need for a a day of fishing. David was so helpful! ;)

We visited this pier 3 separate days during our vacation. Twice on two of those days. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Having a bar on site was nice for drinks and snacks. Everything was reasonably priced especially in comparison to other local piers. The boys enjoyed endless hours of fishing while the girls enjoyed playing on the beach nearby and in the on site arcade.

R/C Kill Devil Hills Movies 10

4.2
(1228)
Movie theater
Bar
R/C Kill Devil Hills Movies 10 is a classic theater with a touch of nostalgia. The establishment offers the latest movie selections, comfortable seating with reclining and heated options, and good sound and picture quality. While the theater may be a bit dated, it still provides a five-star experience for moviegoers. However, some visitors have noted that ticket prices are higher than expected for matinee showings and that snack prices are also on the expensive side.
The tickets are a little pricier than I would like but the chairs are very comfortable and recline. If you have littles with sensitive ears be sure to bring ear plugs as our last two experiences have been louder than usual. Both were kid movies this summer (2025). Another thing to note is that the chairs have a heating the seat option. If you have a small one who likes to push buttons just keep in mind that it can make them feel hot pretty quickly.
Jessie R — Google review
Older theater but still pretty nice. They updated it with reclining and heated seats, the level three heat is really hot. They have traditional snacks and drinks, nothing really special. Sound system is good and auditoriums that I've been to are fairly small. Bathrooms are in lobby so if you are in one of the further auditoriums make sure you go before so you don't miss any of the movie treking to the bathrooms. I did notice that they were putting in high fidelity auditorium but I don't think it was done yet.
Victor L — Google review
Surprisingly the theater was nearly empty. Seats were comfortable and the preferred seats are very nice. The food was good, but after leaving my daughter and I did not feel well. We're not sure if it was over indulging or something else. Aside from that, we had an enjoyable experience.
Amie P — Google review
Love the popcorn, but last time I was there. All I could smell was damp, moldy air coming out of the air conditioning vents. I think it was either theater 7 or 8. I even complained & asked the manager to turn off the air because it was actually burning my lungs. Onviously, they did not turn off the air. Luckily, I had plenty of peppermint essentual oil on me to cover the awful smell. I had to walk out of the theater several times, but was able to get through Noahs Ark play. Was not a pleasant experience. I sure hope no one got seriously sick from this!
Chris C — Google review
The helpful employees, the latest movie selection, great seats, and good sound and picture quality. This theater is a bit dated, but still maintains 5-star quality. It’s a fun spot since it almost seems like an echo from the past.

This was a nice little strip mall. I got my hair cut here while on vacation. Being that I have long hair, and wanted a good 8 inches cut off, it was an extremely cheap hair cut! The welcoming staff, including servers like Ashley, ensure that guests have a memorable dining experience.
We loved our time at Mama Kwan's. There was a little bit of wait, ~45 mins, but there was a big car show going on and we went at peak time. Still though, there were drinks available at the bar and plenty of seating outside while we waited. Once we got our table, the server was quick and friendly. Our food was fantastic, too! The souvenir glasses and cups are definitely a nice touch. The Crispy Ginger Shrimp appetizer was out favorite!!

This is our second time back to Mama Kwan's and they never disappoint! Such a fun atmosphere! The food is always good. We got crabcakes, fish tacos, and a burger. One of my friends did get the jerk chicken that she was not thrilled with. It was very spicy for her and had a lot of sauce on it. Our overall wait time was probably about 30 minutes sat outside under the umbrella, met some nice people overall great time. Will be back mama

Went to Mama Kwan's one evening over Labor Day weekend for dinner. We didn't have a reservation so we tried to order take out. Since they were very busy, they were not doing take out orders so we waited about 40 minutes for a table. Once seated, we went ahead and ordered our food. We went with the Garbage Plate (add chicken) and Sesame Grilled Chicken. Both entrees came out quickly and tasted great. We also ordered some Honey Jerk Chicken Tenders to go. They definitely get the food out quickly and get you in and out fast. Great experience at Mama Kwan's.

This was our first visit, but we'd had many friends recommend this place. They were right. The food was excellent & plentiful. Our server was very good... friendly & attentive. We will definitely be back!! If you stop in soon, check out all the great Halloween decorations... especially the animated Frankenstein statue!!

We've heard rave reviews of this place, but there was always a wait. Finally visited twice earlier this month, and we understand the raves (and why there's usually a wait). Great food, creative menu choices.

Came back almost a decade after my first time here and it was just as good, if not better than I remember! I thought I remembered them having a coconut rice to die for the last time which they didn’t have this time, but regardless it was still really good! They have a separate gf menu too which was a nice surprise! The tuna nachos were to die for.
Jess M — Google review
The lady in the front cleaned up a table for us very fast. Our server attended to us right away and food came out under 15 minutes, nice and warm. We ordered a crab cake plate and blackened fish tacos and they were tasty beyond expectations. We had their special drink, Kwan Dree, it's okay for the price.

Great local stop for amazing island themed food. Service was fast and staff were friendly. We enjoyed the coconut shrimp plate and Hawaiian Pork plate. Very good!!! Plenty of seating and lots of fun decor to look at. We will definitely be stopping by again our next trip. Plenty of parking and lots of seating. Fun for the whole family. The prices were very good and the portion sizes were generous.

Chilli Peppers Coastal Grill is a popular spot on the Outer Banks known for its laid-back atmosphere and delicious coastal cuisine with a Latin twist. The restaurant offers fresh seafood, flavorful soups, and sauces made from scratch. Guests can enjoy dining in the warm and casual indoor space or opt for outdoor seating. The menu features a variety of dishes influenced by flavors from around the world, with lunch specials including pasta, burritos, tostadas, sandwiches, and soups.
Above average, for sure! The cuisine was full of flavors. Very generous portion sizes. This is not a typical tourist Mexican restaurant, just so you know. This is a locals spot. It has a great old school OBX nostalgia feel inside. Enthusiastic servers. Good price point on the whole menu selection. Get there early!

Came on a Saturday evening, no wait, had the outdoor seating area to ourselves! The food, drinks and service were amazing. The watermelon margarita 🤝 any fish entree since we tried most of them. So good, highly recommend and will be back!

We went for Sunday brunch based on a couple of suggestions and are happy we did! The house made bananas foster syrup - holy smokes - 10/10. She crab soup was really good. The tuna tartare tacos were good - the tuna had a lot of marinade on them - which made them a little wet, but also gave great flavor. The grits were good too!
Amie W — Google review
Had not stopped by in years. Very glad we did for an early dinner after shopping. Jackie was an informative and personable server and very attentive. The appetizer section was extensive and the seafood entree items were numerous. The crab dip was so flavorful. The seafood pasta had large scallops and perfectly steamed vegetables. The seafood enchilada was enormous. Will definitely be back!

Great food! The best hush puppies we have ever had and our entrees were great too! Definitely will be coming again on our next vacation to OBX!

My family and friends love Chilli Peppers and have been going here for years. Small and cozy atmosphere with fantastic food! They have some unique food options like Chimichurri Oysters and daily specials that you won't find anywhere else on the beach! Great a little bar that's a local favorite and a small outdoor area.

I really enjoyed coming here. They are super dog friendly and the atmosphere is just divine! We had the chimichurri oysters which were really really good along with the crab cake sandwich in the Baja Fish Tacos. We will for sure be back to try Sunday brunch!

Italian restaurant
The Jolly Roger Restaurant is a unique and legendary dining spot in the Outer Banks, known for its unconventional atmosphere that blends Christmas, pirates, and old-time charm. Originally a gas station/grocery store converted into a restaurant in 1972, it has been an OBX staple for over 50 years. The menu offers Italian fare, seafood, and American breakfast specials.
Eclectic meandering restaurant with numerous dining rooms and booths many with some privacy making you feel you are the only one there. Rugged wood interior, interesting photos and posters. Bar area with TVs. Separate live music stage (weekends) and dance floor with its own bar. Outdoor smoking area. Gift store at the entrance with Jolly Roger clothing and too many local souvenirs to mention. Staff very friendly and helpful. Theresa was our prompt and attentive server. Awards for 2025 included Best Night Spot, Best Italian Restaurant and Best Breakfast. Very large breakfast menu accompanied by brunch, lunch and dinner menus. Early Bird coupons for breakfast and dinner in OBX magazines. Omelet was filled with crab meat, pancakes and sausage links were excellent. Crab cakes were very good with lump crab. Good prices and ample parking. Long established eatery. Good for the kids with their own menu and many adult beverages. Karaoke popular nightly.

The food was very good here. The bread and secret oil dip were delicious. Some of our food came out cold. However the service was not very good. Took us awhile to get silverware. Not all of our dishes came out at the same time. Our waiter didn’t know how much the Sunday Bloody Mary and Mimosas were. Please publish drink prices. We loved the atmosphere and decorations. Each room was decorated differently. There was also a good little gift shop. One of the employees walking around eating an apple during our visit.

This OBX relic has been rehabbed! We were surprised and happy to see a renovated and updated Jolly Roger! Same great food and service. Same fun, cozy eating nooks. Improved bar and added music band karaoke dance space with a 2nd level open air game room AND outdoor deck with lots of seating! If I didn't go to bed at 8 pm 🤣, I'd definitely come hang out here at night!

We came here for dinner and did not have to wait for a table which was nice. We ordered the cheese bread appetizer which came out to be 4 tiny pieces of bread that the cheese was partially melted. It was good but the portion came no where the price. We ordered lasagna and chicken picatta. The lasagna was good but the chicken dish lacked flavor. The atmosphere was very neat and impressive. Overall it was a pretty good restaurant.

Excellent breakfast! Loved the decor! We went in October and they had the restaurant decorated for Halloween! It was great! The food is amazing! We went to Rohoboth Beach and Ocean City not long after and none of the breakfasts compared to Jolly Roger’s! I would highly recommend coming to Jolky Roger’s for breakfast!

The first thing you notice is the overstimulating decor. But eventually you acclimate to the noise and hustle. The food was good. Not amazing but like mom used to make. There are plenty of pasta dishes to choose from. Plenty of parking but this place is also packed most times. There was karaoke going on in the front bar and it was hopping.

Captain George's Seafood Restaurant is a relaxed, seafaring-themed eatery that has been serving up secret family recipes for decades. Located in Kill Devil Hills, it offers an extensive seafood buffet with over 70 choices of appetizers, entrees, side dishes, and desserts. The restaurant also hosts an annual Thanksgiving buffet featuring traditional holiday fare alongside seafood favorites like crab legs and steamed shrimp.
We visited during the busy Labor Day weekend evening but were seated right away, which made the start of our vacation even better. The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent, and we were so happy to begin our trip here. The server’s recommendation of the house special cocktail was such a fun surprise, and we truly enjoyed it. The quality of the snow crab and the quick preparation time were outstanding. We definitely plan to come back on our next vacation and would love to try other locations as well. Highly recommended!

ACYE. We arrived around 6:30 only had to wait about 20 minutes. The buffet did not disappoint. There was a lot of variety and I loved the crawfish and the crab legs the most. Service was good about getting our bucket of yuck and clearing our plates. Definitely one of the better ACYE buffets in the area.
AB R — Google review
Came here 4:30 it was packed. Overall was good, but not as good as the Myrtle Beach location. Price was $49.99, not bad. Best was the steamed snow crab legs, boiled jumbo shrimps, & chef’s special - fish tacos. Other items were ok. Disappointing was the tiny fried scallops, small popcorn shrimps & tiny white clams. Didn’t have raw oysters, blue crabs, nor steaks or prime ribs. Service was great, they cleared the dishes & basket frequently. Our waitress was also friendly & nice.
Hung D — Google review
Captain George’s is a seafood lover’s dream. The buffet is fresh, well-stocked, and has an incredible variety—from perfectly seasoned shrimp and scallops to piles of hot crab legs that keep coming. The staff is attentive, friendly, and quick to clear plates so you can make another round. The atmosphere feels warm and lively, and it’s a great spot whether you’re with family or celebrating something special. Fair warning: the dessert bar is so good you might need a second stomach—guess that’s why they call it all you can eat!

Captain George's was well kept and well decorated for the Halloween season. The staff was friendly the interior was cleaned for dealing with such a high volume of customers. The drink menu choices were outstanding as well as the food choices on the buffet. We had a very nice meal, conversation and enjoyed our experience thoroughly.

Overall I really liked this place. They had good food and the service was awesome. But, not much of a selection. Maybe that’s just this time of year?? Definitely very expensive too.

Daughter loved the seafood, absolutely loved it and it was a good value for the kid price of 26.99. I don’t eat seafood or fish, but I got the buffet anyway. For me, there was plenty of good food including smoked brisket, ribs, roasted chicken, steak, salad bar, and sides.

As always, Captain George's doesn't disappoint!! The service was extremely good this time, our server was super friendly and attentive. The selection of fresh food was great, there were plenty of items to choose from. The key lime squares are phenomenal. I was a little disappointed in the choices of crab legs to choose from but everything was very tasty! It's definitely expensive, so come hungry!!

Bistro
American restaurant
Bar
Located at the Sea Ranch Resort, Beachside Bistro is a bright and casual hotel cafe offering a variety of seafood dishes, breakfast options, and burgers with stunning ocean views. As one of the few true oceanfront restaurants on the Outer Banks, it serves American coastal cuisine and is a member of Outer Banks Catch, ensuring fresh seafood offerings such as mahi-mahi and tuna.
This place is a hidden treasure. It is part of the sea ranch resort, didn't know that until we got here, so parking in-season might be tricky. It has a smaller inside seating and some outdoor seating. But, the breakfast was absolutely delicious. The country fried steak was crispy and the sausage gravy was full of sausage. We had the scrambled and the over easy eggs. Cooked to perfection! The home fries are fresh cut potatoes with a mix of sweet peppers and onions. Man was this delicious! I was not able to finish my meal. The bar tender was also our waiter, so be patient! He did a great job with our order and keeping the drinks full. Also a fun treat was the locals sitting at the bar with fish stories! Especially since they knew someone that was dragged 7 miles from shore with a fish. Or the friend that used 5-gallon buckets as anchors when a fish tried to drag him to sea. 😂 Try the place, you won't be disappointed!
L M — Google review
I had breakfast and dinner here during my stay at the Sea Ranch Resort. The Mahi tacos and Buffalo shrimp were great with plenty of spicy flavor. The breakfast omelets were served with fried potatoes. The indoor dining area is a bit small and can get crowded during peak times. They also have a nice outdoor patio if you don't mind the ocean breeze.
Alex R — Google review
We stopped in for a quick breakfast with no expectations. We were greeted and seated rather quickly. Our waitress was very attentive, not only to us but was quick to check with another guest about their food allergies. Our meals were on point with flavor. I feel the portion was a bit small for the cost but overall we were happy with our decision to dine here and would definitely visit again.

We had a wonderful experience at Beachside Bistro, sitting outside under a covered table with the gentle breeze and warm sun shining. Our drinks came out quickly; definitely try the OBX Bloody Mary! The breakfast burrito and bacon-egg-cheese croissant were both super deeeelish, too! Our server was friendly, responsive, and polite. Seating was quick and easy, as well.

Stopped in for a drink in the afternoon. We sat outside since it was beautiful out. Service was quick and the drinks were delicious. *You can’t see the beach from the patio because of the dunes/grass, but it’s still a cute little spot with a walkway straight to the beach!

Best crab cake sandwich I've tasted in years!! Plenty meaty and perfect ratio with the bun and sauce. My husband and I shared that, and the Mahi tacos. Yum!! The bloody Mary's were tasty, bartender great to talk with and the music chill. Check this place out!!

I recently stopped in for lunch after traveling all day since it was close to where I was staying. I'm glad I did. Since I was by myself I sat at the bar and ordered my meal. The bartender was great along with the service. I had the crab cake sandwich, a salad and fries. It was all good. The salad was extremely fresh and the crab cake sandwich was well prepared. The fries were some of the best I've had. Will definitely eat there again.

Target is an enjoyable retail establishment with a defined purpose. It boasts a pleasant environment and amiable workers. If one is dissatisfied with the store's early closing time, they should consider applying for employment, as Target is currently understaffed. Furthermore, individuals who buy excessive properties should not be surprised when it becomes difficult to find employees willing to work there at affordable wages.
Great store with a wide selection of clothes, toys, home goods, pharmacy and some groceries. The Starbucks is now open within the store, very convenient! It’s only open til 7 pm right now, but hopefully they’ll extend the hours soon. So glad we have a Target here now!

Great store! Very helpful and welcoming staff. Everything is always so clean and organized. Disappointed with their Starbucks :( I went in today and ordered 2 drinks and a lemon loaf. The drinks were great. The lemon loaf was given to me in its plastic packaging inside a paper bag and when I took the first bite it tasted very odd right away, I took it back out and couldn’t eat it. I saw small white balls in the loaf and then read that the expiration date on the plastic packaging had already passed -the loaf was expired. I deciding to very nicely and discreetly tell the young man that was at the Starbucks counter and asked him if he could trade it for a new one, he didn’t apologize, he went and took a minute to look for a new one. Another girl who was working came over to ask what I needed and she seemed annoyed when I told her the loaf was not good. The young man came back with a new loaf, this time without the plastic packaging, just the paper bag. I think he just gave me another expired load because although he probably didn’t realize, that one also had the white little clumps in the loaf and tasted bad like the first one. I did not end up eating this lemon loaf, sadly I had to throw it out and I was not able to enjoy my lemon loaf.

Shopped there tonight…we were looking for several items…a store employee, Lance, stopped to help…we were looking for a card game. Lance checked the stock in the back (for card game) and found it was out of stock… a few minutes later, we were looking for a fan (fans were all gone on the shelves) and couldn’t find it; we saw Lance and asked if he could help us with this item… he said yes, and immediately looked and it was not on the floor but he checked the stock and found one was in the back….. What a great experience! My husband and I came down here for the first time and wanted something more than just an off road Jeep experience. My husband found Good Vibrations and knew that was going to be our calling! Chris & Riley had great customer service and are very down to earth people. We can’t wait to come back and do business with them again! #greenmachine #obx #goodvibrationsbeachrides

What a wonderful experience! From the moment we first connected with Good Vibrations, it was a wonderful experience all the way through. They were professional, friendly, helpful, and provided an opportunity to enjoy the Outer Banks and its beaches in a unique way. My son, and I rented one of the dune buggies, and went up to the beach beyond Corolla in the morning. The beach was beautiful and not crowded. We saw a bunch of wild horses, and had a great time looking for shells, to go along with the four wheeling, we did. Whether you are an experienced four wheeler or not, this is a can’t miss opportunity to explore the outer banks, with a terrific small business, run by friendly and professional people! We can’t wait to get back and do it all again.

We drove Blue Bandit this morning from 830-130 pm and had a BLAST! We saw the wild horses at the beginning of the beach access, resting in the dunes. This was our first time ever driving out on a beach, but not our last! We would definitely recommend Good Vibrations!

We LOVED everything about our experience renting with Good Vibrations Beach Rides. Instructions, expectations, directions, and suggestions for the afternoon were clear and easy to understand. The “Purple Power” got a lot of attention on the beach, and we were lucky enough to see wild horses on the drive back home! We cannot recommend this experience enough - so worth it!

I highly recommend renting from Good Vibrations!

My fiancé & I had a blast taking Purple Power to the sand! We did the early rental 6-11am which was a great choice because the beach was practically empty for our first few hours. Chris& Riley are great people& easy to rent from. The gave clear& concise directions which made us feel safe. They also gave us recommendations of their fav OBX spots. We highly recommend Good Vibrations Beach Rides!

Amazing Day out on the beach with the buggy! We saw a bunch of wild horses and had awesome trip exploring the beaches of Corolla. The owner Tony made the experience even better. He dropped off the buggy right to our house in the morning and went over the vehicle with us so that we had a full understanding on how everything works. Tony is super passionate about what he does and is an amazing guy. They also allowed us to book online which was super convenient too. We will definitely be renting from Tony again next time we are in OBX, He has earned a customer for a lifetime!

I love driving fun vehicles in unique places and Good Vibrations Beach Rides made that possible in the Outer Banks. I’m excited to rent another vehicle from GVBR the next time I’m on vacation in the OBX. All of my friends were so jealous when I showed them what a great time I had driving on the beach.

I recently had an amazing time exploring the beaches in Corolla with Good Vibrations! It was a simple and hassle-free rental experience, Chris and Rylee were absolutely amazing through the entire process! We rented Blue Bandit and it was in amazing condition and perfect for driving on the sandy beach. It was clean, comfortable, and had all the necessary features for a safe and enjoyable ride. Driving Blue Bandit on the beach was an absolute blast! It was so much fun cruising along the shoreline and exploring areas that would have been difficult to reach on foot. The vehicles handled the sandy terrain effortlessly, and I had a great time discovering hidden coves and enjoying the beautiful ocean views. The rental rates were extremely reasonable compared to the other options in the Outer Banks, and the flexibility in dates and times were a big plus. Whether you're planning a short or long beach trip, Chris and Rylee will accommodate your needs! I also appreciated their commitment to the environment. They provided guidelines for responsible beach driving, emphasizing the importance of preserving the ecosystem. It's great to see a rental service that cares about sustainability. Overall, I highly recommend Good Vibrations for anyone looking for a simple and exciting beach adventure in the Outer Banks. With their excellent service, well-maintained vehicles, and stunning beach views, you're guaranteed to have a fantastic experience!

Nestled along the stunning Virginia Beach oceanfront, 17th Street Surf Shop has been a beloved destination since its inception in 1970. With an additional location in the Outer Banks, this shop is your go-to for all things surf, skate, and style. Whether you're looking for gear to hit the waves or trendy apparel for a night out, you'll find it here.
The store was very clean and well organized. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. My son (10 yr old) was in the market for a new body board and had a ton of questions and wanted to see sever different boards. Highly recommend for all of your skate and surf shop needs in the OBX. Tons of clothing, surf boards, sun glasses, skateboard and long boards, footwear and more so much more. Check them out!

I have shopping here in the KDH store many times, the young man who was there at this visit, answered all my questions, was friendly and just as the young woman who usually I've seen when shopping there customer service skills were great, comfortable and laid back atmosphere. I love being able to purchase the buy 1 get 1 half off 17th street tees' and having grandchildren now, it saves money and they love the styles offered. Not much for youth age, ( 8-14yr ) but I've discovered that a small mens will fit nice on a average size 13 year old. Hoping more for more inventory for the upcoming Holiday Season .. keep up the good service * ( if I could offer any suggestions, it would be coupons or maybe even a local discount, would be nice, and encourage customers to purchase more than the 17th street shirts, as other items are a bit pricey "and off season the locals are what keeps this store afloat til tourist season May- September, being such a isolated area off season, its just a thought.. love the quality of the tees and I'll keep shopping but would buy even more if incentives were given)

Bought a body board for $40 bucks and went straight to the beach. Tried it out and it wasn’t meant for my weight or height. Wasn’t advised on quality or specs when I bought it. I called to ask if I could exchange or return it with a receipt literally within hours of purchasing it and I was told they are not refundable/exchangeable. So I’m stuck with a body board that doesn’t serve me. I recommend doing research on the sport and what spec board you need before buying one and for sure look for a place that allows for refunds/exchanges.

Nags Head Woods Preserve

Nature preserve
Hiking area
Nags Head Woods Preserve, located in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, offers a wide range of activities for visitors. From surfing and kayaking to golfing and parasailing, there's no shortage of fun things to do in this area. The town is also rich in history, with stories dating back to the old live oak tree that gave Nags Head its name.
Very nice collection of well-marked trails mostly through maritime forest with heavy shade. Great for late winter/early spring wildlife and plants. I love trail 5 that leads down to the sound with a nice bench on a quiet little beach to watch the world go by. On many of these trails you might not think you're even on the outer Banks, but somewhere in the Piedmont - hardwoods, hills, fresh water ponds full of frogs, etc .. Restrooms, maps, etc .. at the visitors center.
Madurobob — Google review
Well maintained trails and great for taking our dog on a little hike with us. We took trail 5 out to a little beach area. The paths were marked well and easy to follow. Only downside is that because it’s marshy, there are definitely bugs, so plan ahead and maybe try to go during cooler weather to avoid the buggies.
Jessica F — Google review
What an awesome place for hiking. Beautiful scenery, well marked trails. Highly recommend this place if you enjoy nature. The only issue is that the trail becomes a sand trap, very hard to walk through and the trail circled back to the sand and we had to go through it twice. Parking is also limited.
Barbara T — Google review
Hiking Trail Review Sweetgum Swamp to Blueberry Ridge Trail - 3.5 miles Trailhead was very easy to find with a large and extensive parking area. Parking was free. Little information area at the start of the trail. The trail itself was easy and shaded. Lots of mosquitoes and several snakes on the trail. Take it slow or you might step on one like I almost did. Great experience and very pretty views.
David L — Google review
To those who love hiking and all things woodsy, this place is a hidden gem. The trails are not long so take your time near the ponds at the visitors center. You can easily find frogs, snakes, and fascinating insects. We were there on a weekday and not many other folks were there. We hiked trails 1 - 3. My advice is to bring lots of water and apply bug spray. Be warned; The tallest in the group will run into may spiderwebs. We hiked in 90 degree heat and were hot and sweaty at the end but the majority of the trails are shady.
Brian A — Google review
A great hike with the east coast hiking group. A long sugar sand hill on one of the trails and the Tillett family homestead and family burial ground. A lot of fun with the group of hikers (and followed it up with lunch at Awful Arthur’s).

We just came across it while in town for my brothers baby shower. It was a cool find and we will be back when we have more time to explore.
Tiffany A — Google review
We loved our time here. It is a beautiful place and few miles from the ocean, tucked in behind a neighborhood in Nags Head. Parking was a little tricky since it was quite busy when we went. Several trails, including paved, handicap accessible ones. Beautiful scenery, a great place to get into the woods and stretch your legs. Free. Highly recommend!

Surf shop
Surf school
Outer Surf, owned and operated by local surfer Bri Vuyovich, offers affordable 90-minute surfing lessons in OBX. The instructors teach surfing techniques, ocean safety, and surfboard anatomy. Customers praise the warm and friendly owners and the enjoyable experience with great instructors like Willy, Julianna, Isla, and Riley. Kids aged 8-18 had a fantastic time learning to surf with Outer Surf's instructors.
I loved my first experience with outer surf for my first ever surfing lesson. Willie was the best instructor. If you get a chance to take lessons definitely request him. I will be back on my next vacation to keep on learning!

This is the best place to go if you’re looking for a locally owned, family run shop that has straight forward booking and is beginner friendly. I called and Bri picked up and was super friendly and accommodating, getting me booked for a beginner lesson super quickly. Riley took me out and showed me the ropes, giving tailored instructions leaving me feeling confident but also ready for more! Can’t recommend Outer Surf more!

My daughter, Madison, looks forward to surf camp every summer! This year was her first teen camp. The teen girls were all sweet and the instructors made camp a lot of fun! My daughter has gotten better every year and is proud to wear her cool Outer Surf gear. Thanks to Lindsey for taking some cool videos of my daughter catching some big waves. We look forward to camp next summer!
MEGAN M — Google review
Our daughter loved the camp! In her words: “All of the instructors are incredibly supportive and kind. I would recommend trying surf camps as they are a great opportunity to meet new people around your age. My favorite part was being surrounded by people who love what they do. 🥰”
Terry W — Google review
BEST in OBX!!! Wonderful experience from start To finish! Firstly, they provided wetsuits which is a huge plus. They discussed ocean safety and the basics of surfing before we arrived to the beach. Amazing instructors and facility, great experience!!! Last year we had three days of private lessons with the other highly rated OBx surf company. What a joke. The instructor threw my kids on a board and told them to stand up. In the future I will only be going to Outer Surf! 🤙🏻
Kelly F — Google review
I had such a lovely experience with my instructor, Olivia. She was very thorough in her explanation and instruction and positive and encouraging throughout the lesson. Although conditions weren't ideal with very calm water, she gave me the best opportunity to get up on the board as she possible could. I learned a lot and enjoyed every moment. Thank you, Olivia!

My daughter had a great week at Outer Surf. The camp was an awesome experience - she came away excited and fulfilled and couldn't wait to get back on a surf board. Would highly recommend - I'd give 10 stars if I could.

Ice cream shop
Holy Cow Creamery is a charming ice cream parlor that offers an array of homemade, freshly churned ice cream in unique gourmet flavors. From Hibiscus Lemonade to Pineapple Dragonfruit (vegan) and Uncle Peaches Delight, there's something for everyone. The shop also serves a delightful donut panini stuffed with ice cream, which comes highly recommended. Visitors praise the friendly customer service and the quick service despite the bustling crowd.
Love this place. We tried a couple of ice cream shops around the area and Holy Cow is the best one. Flavors are amazing and you can taste the fresh ingredients, not artificial flavoring. Phenomenal. Also love the level of sweetness, just enough, not too sweet. Staffs there were so friendly and welcoming as well. Highly recommend 🍨
Hsuan C — Google review
Our group has been in OBX two days and so far we have only visited Holy Cow TWICE, so our experience may be limited. The ice cream flavors are premium plus. Bourbon Fig? Come on man I don’t stand a chance here. I’m a big fan of ice cream. I’m just in love with this ice cream. This is approaching modern art. Unique ingredients and excellent professional craftsmanship make these flavors so unique you feel sad you don’t live here. The parking lot is small so I think in high season it would be challenging, but in September it was pretty easy. The staff was the same two young men both times we visited. Both times they were great. They were happy to let us sample different flavors and find the one we wanted. Answer: all of them.
John D — Google review
I liked the selection of flavors but I would love to see more unique options. I opted for the strawberry cactus ice cream which was good. Prices were on the high side, but decent for the area. The parking lot was at capacity and the line was out the door.
Grant D — Google review
Holy Cow! Great ice cream shop on a hot summer day at the beach. The line was out the door! Very popular. Great flavor selection and options. Limited parking but worth the walk if parking off site.
Lonny N — Google review
This place is so unique. If you’re from out of town and looking for something more unique than the standard ice cream shop back home, come here! As soon as we walked in, the young ladies running the front counter were super helpful and gave us a bunch of samples to try because there are so many unique flavors. They told us we came at a great time of year(late September) because the main summer months especially around the holidays, the line is out the door because they get so many customers. We got a “first flight” 6 full size scoops of different flavors, bourbon fig, bell Helene, Irish crunch, strawberry cactus, holycow, and death by chocolate. Strawberry cactus and bourbon fig were our favorites but they were all so good. I wish I had taken a picture for the review but I forgot because I was so busy enjoying the experience and ice cream
Allison H — Google review
This place is great! They have a big selection of flavors, and they are homemade. We really enjoyed the creaminess and flavor of the ice cream and waffle cone. I got the berry lavender, and it was more berry than lavender, the lavender was very subtle.

WOW‼️😋🤩😋 More, PLEASE ‼️😋 Yummy delicious! Lots of cool and interesting flavors and mixes! I am NOT a pumkin spice kinda gal. But, if they have it, try the pumpkin cheesecake ice cream!! You will not be sorry! It's delicious!! 😋 So are the strawberry cactus and cookie monster! 😎 The luminous cheesecake ice cream is creamy and flavorful, with big chunks of cheesecake!! 😋 If the line is out the door, wait!! It moves fast and it's worth the wait. Holy Cow, keep doing what you're doing!! We will be back again!!

Very yummy ice cream although the environment isn’t the best due to this size of the store but that’s not their fault- I had a mint chip ice cream and it tasted very nice :)) if you like cold stone you’ll like them

Goombays Grille & Raw Bar is a vibrant and family-friendly seafood restaurant located in downtown Kill Devil Hills. Since 1992, it has been a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The restaurant boasts a lively island-style atmosphere with colorful decor, including bright murals, local artwork, and fish tanks. The menu features a creative fusion of Outer Banks seafood with Caribbean influences, offering dishes like Caribbean Creole Pasta, Caberete Shrimp, and Caicos Coconut Shrimp Salad.
Service was excellent, food was great. We enjoyed our meal. Highly recommend their banana pudding cheesecake. Amazing flavor and it's not too sweet, which is perfect. Most restaurants have very overly sweetened dessert. Would certainly be back again.

Always colorful with an excellent menu for lunch. Brought friends for their first visit and the two that ordered the Rasta Pasta decided we were coming back in three days. They also bought containers of the sauce to take home. Shrimp and crab curry soup was unique and gently creamy with fresh vegetables. Burgers and flounder were top notch and we had to order additional jalapeno crab balls. Onion rings were large, perfectly breaded and not overdone. Kayla was an amazing server - a true ambassador to Goombays. Christian assisted and was clearing our table frequently and checking our needs. A great experience!
James C — Google review
Our server Cala was amazing and she recommended a great meal and was very patient with ALL of my questions I had being ones my first time here. The food was amazing I had fried flounder and shrimp with fries and coleslaw my husband had the same except for he had fried oysters instead of shrimp. The drinks she suggested was amazing as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant the scored a 10 out of 10 in my book everyone we encountered was very friendly

Had a great family dining experience! Everyone had very fresh food and it arrived hot and quickly. The small parking lot actually keeps the inside for getting too overcrowded. Would suggest going at off-peak hours to make sure you get a table and food quickly. Will definitely be back again when we are on the island. Looked like there was a great and comfortable bar also if you dont want to sit at a table.
Adam H — Google review
I stopped here for dinner on a Sunday night and the dining area was almost full to capacity. The dining area is a bit small and most tables are pretty close to each other. I liked the crab dip and fried fish plate with rice and vegetables.
Alex R — Google review
The food was really good. The family loved the service and atmosphere so much. Definitely recommend this place and the variety of fried fish dish options on the menu.
Darrell R — Google review
Excellent dinner! We had oysters, fish sandwiches, drinks, and more. Everything came out great, hot, and tasty. Service was quick. We brought a 3 year old and it was noisy enough to where young kids won't be a bother but not too noisy where it could be hard to talk or hear. Our waitress was kind and had a great sense of humor too. We would definitely go back.

Chinese takeaway
Chinese restaurant
China King is a no-frills counter-serve establishment that offers familiar Chinese cuisine, including dishes like Mongolian beef and orange chicken. It stands out as the top takeout option within a 20-mile radius, according to various customers. The food consistently receives high praise for its quality and affordability, ensuring satisfaction with each visit. While online ordering is available for a small fee of $1.
Dine in with my hubby. Food was hot and fresh! Everything tasted delicious. Staff was friendly and explained the menu to us. Orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, chicken lo mein, and fried rice were all awesome!
Melanie M — Google review
MY food itself wasnt bad but the food my friends got was terrible and looks like rubber. The chicken chow mein had no noodles in it at all and there was barley any chicken. The beef in the other dishes were slimey and looked awful

If you are looking for a great “hole in the wall” Chinese spot just like your hometown, this is it. The worn out photos on the wall and no working AC in the restaurant itself let me know it was going to be a good spot. Food was spectacular and tasted just like home. The general Tsos was on point as well as the crab Rangoon. Highly recommend if you want original tasting Chinese takeout while you are on vacation!
Sarah B — Google review
4/2/18 I ordered sesame chicken combination and crab rangoon. The food was very good and the two people I encountered were friendly. I gave this four stars because the eating area was pretty dirty. Just getting takeout would be a 5 stars.
A S — Google review
We are a family from Asia who needed one meal with Asian flavors during our annual OBX visit this week. This is our first time ordering Chinese food here and found this place among three restaurants on Google offering Chinese cuisine. While the Google reviews and ratings were comparable, we eventually decided to order here based on reviews by locals. The feedback was spot on. The food was quite good, flavorful and a good amount. We ordered four lunch specials consisting of beef broccoli, pork egg foo young, General Tso’s chicken and pork lo mein. Costing only $10.99 each, the entree came with fried rice and an eggroll. Although we’re used to Chinese food from urban centers, this place serve more than decent food. My favorite was the beef broccoli which was lighter (less soy sauce) but had a rich sauce, crisp vegetable and tender beef slices. The family enjoyed the lo mein as well, good flavor and color, good quality. The General Tso’s chicken still had a crispy texture and not overwhelmed by sweet sauce. The eggrolls were crunchy and well seasoned. Sure, this isn’t a high end place but for a beach resort a little farther away from the city, it gave us the flavors we needed and were happy with the amount and quality.
Mario S — Google review
Ordered the roasted pork with garlic sauce and the pork was actually Char-Siu style roasted pork. And their garlic sauce was amazing If your in OBX and have a taste for Chinese style food, go here. They are very friendly and quick.
Garry E — Google review
This is by far, the blandest Chinese food I’ve ever had. I knew it wasn’t going to be good when I opened my takeout container and saw the chicken as pale as the vacationers who visit the OBX’s beach. I’m not sure if it’s the location or the lack of diversity, but this establishment is an insult to the other Chinese take out restaurants. The jasmine rice had more flavor than the entrees that I ordered. The lady who was behind the glass wall was friendly though.

Oh my goodness, just incredible on every level!! So welcoming and kind, attentive, and most importantly DELICIOUS FOOD!!! Everything was sublime and thoughtfully put together and prepared! I'm rarely impressed or happy, no joke look at my other always very honest reviews, I could not have been any happier or any more satisfied! My only complaint is that I didn't order more, although I'm bursting and to capacity, I would have figured it out somehow. Thank you, for the absolutely perfect experience!!

This was the cutest little hidden gem and the most delicious food we have had in OBX! The adorable cottage is set back off the beaten path and offers a selection of seafood, beef and vegetarian options with a French flair! The ingredients were fresh, the service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was relaxing. Highly recommend and will be coming back the next time we are in town!

It’s just an amazing cozy restaurant where French fusion cuisine takes place . I found it intimate and interesting. I ordered a savory Brie cheese as entree, sea food as main courses, shrimps grilled to perfection and scallops that blow your mind. Their homemade bread it’s warm and tasty, at the end we share a soft crème Brûlée which made my dinner perfect. Their staff is very special and professional service is fast and convenient. I chose this place to celebrate my anniversary and it didn’t disappoint. Thank you guys for making an unforgettable night. Please make your reservation. You will be very satisfied.

We celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary here, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so special — kind, attentive, and genuinely courteous throughout the entire evening. Every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious — full of flavor and beautifully presented. The seafood pasta and filet were cooked to perfection! The service was exceptional without ever feeling rushed or overbearing. To top it all off, our waitress Lauren surprised us with a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the night even more memorable. Truly an amazing dining experience from start to finish, thank you Lauren for your wonderful service! we can’t wait to come back! 🥂💛

Collington Café continues to be one of our absolute favorites in the Outer Banks. The food is consistently excellent, and the filet mignon stands out as one of the best I’ve ever had—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. The service is outstanding, with a team that’s attentive, friendly, and professional. The atmosphere is both unique and cozy, offering a warm, inviting dining experience that feels personal and refined at the same time. We’ve been dining here for years, and each visit reminds us why we keep coming back. Collington Café remains a true local gem, and we’ll continue to return for many years to come.

The Colington Café is such a charming spot! The restaurant is set in a beautifully transformed house, giving it a cozy, intimate feel. Soft background music adds to the atmosphere without making conversation difficult. Service was impeccable from start to finish, and every dish we tried was delicious. The wine list is reasonably priced. A wonderful dining experience overall. Highly recommend!

The Colington Cafe on the Outer Banks of NC was wonderful. We were first time diners there and couldn’t have been happier with our delicious and fresh seafood dinners of grilled tuna (catch of the day) and Cobia with crab cake. Simply outstanding. We started with, and I’m not kidding, the best Caesar salad I’ve ever tasted and delicious She Crab bisque. And our friendly and helpful server, Mariah, made the whole experience perfect! And I’ll add this extra tidbit … on the way out I saw their restaurant cleanliness grade … they got a 100% rating. I don’t think I’ve EVER seen that so thought it was worth a mention. The whole restaurant is neat and clean as a pin. Highly recommend.
