Historic Sites
Fort Sumter National Monument, located in Charleston Harbor, is a significant historical site that played a pivotal role in the American Civil War. Accessible by boat, visitors can explore the ruins, gun emplacements, and a museum while learning about its place in American history. The fort saw the first shots of the Civil War when Confederate forces attacked it in 1861. Managed by the National Park Service, this nearly 200-year-old fort offers breathtaking views of downtown Charleston and the surrounding harbor.
Greatly enjoyed the ferry ride to and from the island, and of couse exploringthe island itself. It is a bit pricy but one has to take the ferry and historic site maintenance into account. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and had a sense of humor. Lots of cool history to see on the island itself,as well as seabirds and some cargo shipping going by. Some thought provoking exhibits in the visitor center as well. A nice, informative, relaxing excursion all round.
Emily B — Google review
Our national park ranger was amazing. We were there for the taking down of the flag, which was a cool thing to see, especially with a flag the size of the storm flag on the fort. The ferry ride was nice too. Plenty of places to sit in the shade and still see all around.
Brandy B — Google review
Well worth it. The guides were very passionate about history and getting out on the water to see the fort and surrounding islands was super cool! Price was right. We also saw dolphins on our journey. There is no bathroom on the fort so make sure you use it while on the ferry. Also a museum and gift shop.
Kristen G — Google review
We visited this place by ferry and the volunteer was very nice and informative. They explained very well the history of the fort. In the fort you have old Canon and ammunition to see and also some unexploded bombs stuck in the walls (still there) of the fort. Once you are there, you can feel the emotions and spirit of the braves. Highly recommend
S. S — Google review
We took the boat there from Liberty Square. Great inexpensive Parking option at the Aquarium parking garage. If you take the 1st boat you can help raise the flag at Fort Sumter.
Stephanie B — Google review
Being on an island in the harbor, a visit to Ft. Sumter involves two boat trips and a self guided tour of the fort. It's a great place to walk around to see cannons, bulwarks and explanations of the original event.
Rick N — Google review
Fort Sumter was a great experience and would recommend to anyone interested in American History. Remember to book your ferry tickets in advance, I chose the ferry that left from Liberty Square since it had move available time slots. If you take the first ferry of the day you get to experience the flag raising ceremony at the Fort itself which was cool. When on the ferry to the Fort, if the day is nice I would recommend sitting on the upper deck it has the better views of the harbor.
Jon M — Google review
The boat ride over is a great experience. The views on the ride are great. The fort tour guides are the exceptional! The views on the island are amazing. One of the best tours I have had in many years. Worth the money.

Nature & Parks
Nestled just a short drive from downtown Charleston, James Island County Park spans 643 acres and offers a plethora of outdoor activities. From biking and crabbing to camping and picnicking, the park caters to all kinds of adventurers. Visitors can enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, pedal boating, and fishing on the expansive lake or explore miles of biking, skating, and walking trails through lush landscapes.
We absolutely loved spending the week of 4th of July at James Island County Park. We tent camped (it was HOT), but we had fans made it work. The park was very clean and the staff were very friendly. We loved the water park and splash zone. It was a great way to beat the heat. The dog park is huge and they always have different events going on. I only wish we lived closer!

Just came back from Orlando Florida where the water parks were at least 5x the size… however that’s because they have to compete with Disney and universal. We went to a waterpark in Orlando at a hotel and it was larger than this, plus a full bar, however my children seemed to have just as much fun, and that’s what matters. 2 big, main water slides, a couple, smaller more in the splash zone, a lil lazy river and a pool that maxes at 4ft. All in all, it’s good for the price and a fun place to take littlies. I’d consider a season pass, however this is the only water park I’ve encountered in charleston (moved here last January and we normally go to either our apartment pool or the beach). Again, for the price, worth the visit. They also have a regular park to visit outside the water park grounds. It’s $2 per person to go, and the park is decent, nothing crazy, but still worth a trip

This is our favorite campground. We just got home today after a nice 9 nights camping there. The staff are so friendly. The sites are good size. The bicycle/walking trails are great! Wildlife abounds! Raccoons, squirrels, various birds, jumping fish and alligators of all size. Wooden swings located throughout the trails with scenic views. Paddle boats, paddle boards and canoes to rent. Water park in the summer. Dog park where dogs can run free and chase balls in the water. Fishing is available in lake and water ways. Bingo, ice cream night and more. Full hookups and close to lots of stuff in Charleston. Highly recommend!
Bennie873 — Google review
Walked along the trail that surrounds the park, about 1h, with nice views. Nice 50ft climbing wall too. In December, if you come around 3:30/4:00pm, you can also enjoy the lights while leaving before the 5pm closure and the opening for the light festival.
Sylvain F — Google review
I absolutely love this place! So much fun for the whole family and dog friendly too What a blessing that South Carolina has such beautiful state parks 🙌🏽
Heather T — Google review
What an awful place for those that like nature and fishing. Seems like all they really want here are, water park people and the Christmas lights visitors. One pond in particular USED to really produce massive bass. Now it seems like that pond was poisoned to remove all aquatic vegetation. The fish kill that occured here was sickening. Now there doesn't seem to be any fish life in it at all. Places I used to fish 3 to 4 years ago are now littered with no fishing signs. 100% won't be back.
Joe K — Google review
We had a perfect stay, no complaints! Showers were modern & clean, the laundry was outside under a porch but had rocking chairs & a swing to enjoy. It's was really quiet at night!
Emily L — Google review
Was a very pleasent place to visit. I understand it was geared towards a more natural setting of camping but it could be a little better maintained specifically the grass and sites. We will visit again in the future.

The Crab Shack is a casual seafood restaurant with a Southern twist, offering an abundance of fresh shellfish that can be enjoyed in buckets. With multiple locations in the Charleston area, including two in Charleston proper and one on Center Street at Folly Beach, this popular spot has been featured on The Travel Channel and recognized by Southern Living Magazine. It's just a short walk from the beach and boasts a full bar serving creative cocktails.
On vacation first local restaurant we tried and it scored a 10 with all 5 of us. Hearty portions, fast and flavorful. Accommodated our wheelchair and service dog like pros. Would highly recommend.

To was the first time at this establishment in Foley Beach. My wife and I decided to give this establishment a chance. The drinks were just okay, the grilled seafood was very salty, wife had the crab legs and shrimp which was price kind of high, the season was just okay, nothing to brag about, that my opinion. I've been around the city and country and have had better. Your bill will be high. If I'm going to spend that much money, I want to be able to brag about the establishment and its service . The establishment is old and needs lots of updates in dining areas and other areas . This would be the last time visiting this establishment. Good luck with your experience .

This place has the BEST crab legs in Folly Beach, hands down! 🦀 I highly recommend the Snow Crab Bucket—absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. Every bite was perfection. Honestly, I wish I had ordered more legs to take on the road with me! 😄 If you’re a seafood lover, this spot is a must-try
Summer D — Google review
The crispy fish sandwich and french fries were tasty and reasonably priced, especially considering the size. The blue crab bucket was also a hit. It came with potatoes and corn on the cob. Service got a little slow at the end because they were a little busy but overall service was good. Atmosphere was casual.
Megan S — Google review
We had an awesome seafood experience at The Crab Shack! The snow crab legs were perfectly seasoned and piled high — sweet, meaty, and cooked just right. The oysters were fresh and flavorful, and the drawn butter and saltines made it the perfect Southern-style feast. You can’t beat the relaxed beach vibe, friendly service, and great portions for the price. If you’re in Folly Beach and craving seafood, this is the spot!
Travis G — Google review
Had the fried shrimp and flounder with new potatoes and coleslaw. The food came to the table hot. The flavor was amazing incredible. The fish and shrimp was fried to perfection and not overly battered and fried hard. Our server was on it. Had a great time.

This was a great place to get out of the sun from a day at the beach. Cold beers, fans and fried shrimp - a killer mix. Not a ton of parking on a beach day but some live music and watching folks come to and from the beach was a great afternoon. The crab dip and fried shrimp were awesome. Would definitely recommend that
Andrew M — Google review
I recently ate here and it was wonderful ! I had an appetizer of crab and artichoke dip and an entree of crab stuffed flounder. Both were wonderful !!!! My server Kristen was the BEST too ! The only drawback was that they don’t serve coffee. Their homemade key lime pie was great, but would have been even better matched with some coffee. Come on folks, you are missing some money there. Even just a Keurig for those occasional customers like me craving some coffee with your desserts would be logical. I highly recommend this restaurant if visiting Folly Beach !

5 Stars – A Must-Visit Spot in Folly Beach! Rita’s Seaside Grill is a total vibe right by the pier in Folly Beach! 🌊🌴 No reservations needed, which made it super easy to drop in and grab a table. Prices aren’t the cheapest, but trust me—the food is worth every bite 🍽️. This spot is actually a sister restaurant to the famous Halls Chophouse 🥩, so the quality and presentation were top-tier. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated! The atmosphere was awesome—live music playing, outdoor seating, and it’s even pet-friendly! 🎶☀️🐾 Our pup was more than welcome. Service was fast and super friendly 👏. We felt right at home. We’ll definitely be back to enjoy another unforgettable meal at Rita’s! 🔥🍤🍹

Wonderful dinner here at Rita’s on a Friday night. About a 15 minute wait but it’s right next to the beach so just walk around to pass the time! The service was perfect, very attentive! The food was fantastic! Everyone loved theirs and they are presented with care. I loved the unique menu options and prices were fair too! Live music was the cherry on top to make a great atmosphere. This was on my list of places to try and it did not disappoint!

Loved Rita’s!! The staff was super friendly and our server was top-notch - so kind and patient and helpful. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed the laid back but lively atmosphere. Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone visiting Folly Beach

Rita’s Seaside Grille was fantastic! The shrimp po’ boy was packed with flavor — perfectly seasoned shrimp, fresh lettuce and tomato, and that sauce was amazing. The curly fries were crispy and addictive, and the cheesy grits on the side were creamy and delicious! The laid-back beach vibe, friendly service, and ocean breeze made it the perfect lunch spot on Folly Beach. Definitely a must-try when you’re here!

My family and I just went this Labor Day. I was super impressed with the staffing and the food. We went in with a party of 11. Kind of a jerk move on a busy Labor Day Sunday. The hostess laughed with me about how big the party was, but immediately set to work finding a solution. It involved splitting the party, which we were fine with. It was busy, as you’d expect, so we were totally willing to make that adjustment. When we ordered food, everyone got theirs except for me. The waiter entered it in wrong. He quickly let me know what happened, and went to make sure it was coming out. I ordered another beer, which he brought out quickly and then a manager brought me some chips to eat while I waited. When my dinner (shrimp tacos) arrived, they were super delicious. I was so pleasantly surprised. The food was really good, but the staffing was top notch. I was walking by the restaurant the following morning (on the way back from the sunrise at the beach) and the same manager was already there setting up for the day. When he saw me he apologize again for the delay and thanked me for having a good attitude about waiting. Seriously top notch service the whole way through.

Great food, even more amazing service. Very family friendly, we went the day before Halloween and were handed trick or treat bags for all the kids. Can't say enough about the staff ❤️

We stopped in for dinner and were blown away by the food and service. The blackened ahi tuna was cooked to absolute perfection—flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. We also tried the burger and the chicken sandwich, and both were incredible—juicy, seasoned just right, and served with great sides. You can really taste the quality in every bite. The atmosphere was laid-back but lively, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Whether you’re in the mood for something light and fresh or something hearty and satisfying, Rita’s has you covered. We’ll definitely be back!

Came here for breakfast after walking on Folly beach. We stumbled upon Rita’s, super dog friendly. They even have a dog menu, wish we had the pups with us. The breakfast was very good. We each had something different. Both of us were very pleased. Waiter was very good, professional and super friendly, but not annoying.

Our family loves the drop inn. Local vibe, delicious food and great beer/drinks. My go to is the Little Havana, my husband loves the cheese steak, our daughter loves the going out west salad, our son loves the double cheeseburger. We also love their breakfast hash browns. This place is an absolute gem that has never disappointed us. Cheers!!!!

Only had a chance to grab takeout once from here on my trip to Folly, but my Surfer Chick chicken salad sandwich was great. Not onion-y, which I appreciate in chicken salad. I got the pasta salad as a side as recommended by the gal working the counter and it was great too- some kind of corn/elote flavor profile. She was super sweet and gave me ice water and Folly tip/recs while I waited. The inside vibe was super cool and divey, would love to return for a night out.

Omg this place!!! Arguably the best club sandwich I’ve ever had.. and yes it was just a club, but it was so good! The espresso martini was also bomb! The atmosphere and staff was so fun! I highly recommend this place and I’d def go back. The vibes are everything!

I’m glad I Dropped In to the Drop In. Over the top dog friendly, this place is as funky as funky can get and they make some mean Blackened Flounder Tacos. How do I know… it’s what I had for lunch and they were the bomb. This was a great find in this cool little town. Give them a try and I think you’ll be glad you did.

This place has always been amazing. One of our favorite places on the island the staff and pricing is right on point. We ended up doing a rehearsal dinner there and they knocked it out of the park. Thanks guys!

Ordered take-out for lunch on the beach. Food was ready on time and really good. Their sandwiches and wraps are large portions! I got the Pollo Loco and my wife got the classic club. We liked them both! It came with a side which we chose pasta salad and potato salad. They were both good but we wished the portions were larger. The Drop-In is a solid choice for a quick bite to eat.

Really fun beach watering hole that feels reminiscent of a 50s Love Shack-but with cheap beer. Friendly and helpful staff, great live music. Thanks y’all!

Excellent "dive"! This place was a bit intimidating to walk into (which is exactly why I wanted to go into it) but do not be swayed by the biker feel and towering bouncer at the door! The bouncer was super nice and the barkeeps were adorable and very sweet. They had plenty of staff and the drinks are cheap! They have pool tables, a stage and a patio with huge open windows so if you're outside but still want to see and hear what's going on inside, you can. They have live music and a few people were dancing. I saw the Stilettos here and they were amazing. The crowd was a nice blend and noone seemed unwelcome or out of place. Bikers, men in suits, couples, polo shirt sports guys, tourists all meshed well and everyone was having a good time. I will definitely be back!

Charcuterie
Wisconsin Meat & Cheese, a local establishment in Moncks Corner, offers high-quality and affordable products. Their wide variety of cheese and meats, along with snack options like pretzels, make it a popular destination for food lovers. The shop's recent addition of Seroogy's chocolate bar selection has been highly praised by customers. Although the drive to James Island may deter some from frequent visits, those who make the journey always enjoy their shopping experience.
We are locals and just love coming here! The staff is so friendly and the sandwiches are fantastic! We love them so much we had them cater lunch for our wedding, as well as doing a charcuterie spread during the reception cocktail hour! Casey and his staff are so easy to work with and accommodating! They have so many great selections which is all such high quality! I would highly recommend anyone to pop in and check out their store, along with considering them to help out with your special events!

We work next door and our manager went and picked up a food order. First time having food from here. Sandwich was fresh, crispy cold lettuce and the perfect amount of sauce. Defiantly will be going back on my own!

A great spot to both get provisions and grab a bite to eat. We started with lunch, I got the brat on a pretzel roll and some cheese curds. Everything was tasty and I had enough leftover for a second meal! Everything was delicious and the tomato soup was so good that we got another one to-go. The market area has just about every type of meat, cheese, hams, and jellies that you could want. We picked an uncured summer sausage, a hoop cheddar, and a trio blended cheese that was top notch. This is a great spot to get you eats on!
Conor ( — Google review
I ordered online and picked up small a charcuterie tray same day. It came with 2 cheeses, 1 meat, and the fruits and nuts. I added an extra meat, 2 cheeses, jams, and bread. Don’t skip the bread! Absolutely amazing and a great price. I only added a few crackers to my own board. Great selection in store if you want a little more variety. I felt the choices to build your own were perfect though. This will be a staple for any parties i’ll be attending.

We, my boyfriend and I, were greeted by a warm, friendly and knowledgeable Cody. He has been with Wisconsin for around 2 years and he loves the owners. As it often happens, excellent people hire excellent people, so the owners must be great people. After perusing the amazing cheese and meat offerings, we decided to try a classic brat sandwich and bought a bottle of rose to enjoy with it. It was excellent. We also had a special app of fried cheese curds with dill sauce which we loved. The apple and cinnamon and cherry Kringle was a sweet way to finish the meal. The entire, first experience here was awesome and largely due to Cody’s hospitality and tasty food. We’ll be back !

This deli is a hidden gem! It’s not just a deli—it also has the cutest gift items, perfect if you want to put together a charcuterie-style gift for a friend or for anyone who loves hospitality. The little touches make it such a charming spot. The food? Absolutely incredible. The tomato basil soup was slap-your-mama good, and the Fancy Hammy Sammy was pure yum yum in your tum tum! On top of that, they had plenty of gluten-free options, which makes it even better. Such a delightful place—definitely worth the stop!

This place is one of the top 10 places to eat in Charleston. Public beach
Folly Beach Pier is a bustling 1,045-ft. fishing pier featuring a tackle shop and offering scenic ocean views. The adjacent Folly Beach County Park is a popular destination in Charleston County, boasting 3,500' of ocean-facing beaches and 200' of soundside shoreline along the Folley River. While it can get crowded on summer weekends, the park provides ample beaches, picnic areas, restrooms, changing stations, and seasonal concession stands and beach gear rentals.
First time visiting and found the beach and Pier to be clean and in beautiful condition. Although I don't fish, the Pier is set up nicely for fishing (pole holders, cleaning tables etc). Wonderful views from the Pier and beach. The people in the area were very friendly. Plenty of hotel/ABNB type rooms, restaurants and other shops for your enjoyment. Downtown Charleston is just a short ride away. True beach town, If you're in the area definitely check it out.

Get there early like 9am for a good parking spot $15 all day not bad. Super convenient to the beach. Really hot so used the pier for some great shade underneath, nice breeze, just a delightful time. Constant waves are really fun and lifeguards are active and on point keeping people safe. Up on the pier the restaurant is delicious and air conditioned with ice cold drinks. Great day!
Michelle A — Google review
Legendary pier. Will always be legendary. The food and bar is trash but the gift shop has some interesting stuff to look at. There's fishing tables with hoses, plenty of coverage from the sun, lunch tables at the end of the pier, occasionally a few dolphins can be sighted at the end of the pier. Recently the military has been flying cargo planes and choppers at the edge of the beach so you might get a good show. Lots of beautiful sights, if the sky is clear at night you might even see the star link satellite fly by which was a pretty insane experience. Be kind to the birds and they won't bother you. Also at night the roaches come out so stay away from the trash cans.

Quiet the day we came. Only a few people out. Beach was clean and no problems. The have an area to wash down, change your clothes, clean restrooms, nice sitting spots close as well. Good for a family as well.

My friend and I were there enjoying the scenery, ambience, etc. Our happy place is near water and she's healing from an accident. Neither of us had been to the beach recently, so I planned a beach day for us. It was a great day.

Folly beach is a Lovely beach definitely recommend. Not too crowded and have great sunset and sunrise If you are lucky you can see dolphins and sharks 🦈🐬

The quality of facilities and access is both surprising and good. I imagine that it might get crowded some days, but we were able to enjoy it nicely!

Taco Boy Folly Beach is a vibrant and funky spot offering innovative taco fillings and frozen cocktails. The restaurant features outdoor seating and a rooftop fiesta with ocean views, making it an ideal place to enjoy margaritas and tropical drinks by the beach. Located on East Ashley Avenue, this three-story establishment boasts multiple dining rooms and bars, including a rooftop bar with breathtaking ocean views.
We stopped in for lunch at Taco Boy today after a beach baptism and I'm so glad we did! We have been to this Taco Boy a few times in the past and always enjoy it. We got seated right away and the server came to the table immediately with water for everyone. We were able to order our food pretty quickly and we had food on the table in a very timely manner. Our server was very attentive and checked on us frequently. All of the food was delicious and fresh! We will usually bring food home when we go out to eat but everything was so good we didn't have anything left over! I highly recommend Taco Boy if you are hanging on Folly for a day and have a craving for some yummy food! Shout out to our server, Oliver! Thank you Oliver for an amazing experience!

Love that this place is close tot he beach. They have multiple bars. Rooftop was closed during the day on a Friday but sat at the bar instead. The bartender was great and conversational. The chips and guac were just average, as well as the margaritas. The tacos were delicious. I tried a crispy avocado and firecracker shrimp taco which were both delicious. I would definitely come back for a quick bite off the beach but would likely just stick to tacos.

We stopped by Taco Boy in Folly Beach and had such a fun experience! The atmosphere is bright, funky, and full of energy. the huge octopus on the ceiling and colorful decor make it such a cool place to eat. The tacos were packed with flavor, and the chips and trio of salsas were awesome. It’s family-friendly too . our kids loved hanging out in the big “Amigos” chair out front. Definitely a must-visit spot for tacos and good vibes when you’re in Folly Beach!

The smells drew us in after a couple of hours on Folly Beach. The tacos were amazing! We tried both the Chicken, Bacon, Ranch and the Carne Asada as well as the cheeseburger quesadilla. So flavorful and filling. We sat in the bar area with a nice breeze coming in. Our server was also very sweet. Thank you!

Taco Boy is so good we went two nights out of our 5 day trip to Folly Beach! Great margs and tacos. The Baja Tacos is delicious. The food and service is great! I would recommend coming here :)

We had a great dinner. Grace did a fantastic job. She relocated us. after it started raining. We were a large group and we were put upstairs. Her section was downstairs but she didn't miss a beat! Thanks to everyone for a great time!
Ken K — Google review
Fun place to grab tacos with friends. Server was friendly and nice. Just a few things-it was my friend’s birthday and they sent out an order of churros-we sent them back, as we did not order them, and then the waiter came over to tell us that the churros were for her birthday, which was a nice gesture. However, we then got charged for said churros, even though we didn’t order them in the first place. When we were brought the check, a 20% gratuity had been added, even though on Taco Boy’s website, it says that gratuity was automatically added for parties of 8 (we were a party of 6). A few inconsistencies, but overall food was decent.
Amy — Google review
This is a great atmosphere, close to the beach and my margarita was great!! However, the food was just not up to par. I LOVE Mexican food and have had tacos all over the place. This joint did not make the mark on tacos. I was disappointed! Our server was super nice and attentive to our needs. It’s definitely a cool spot to go, just manage your expectations and understand that it’s more of a cool place to go rather than an excellent spot to eat!

Seafood restaurant
Bowens Island Restaurant is a beloved waterfront eatery that has been serving up fresh seafood since 1946. Despite the loss of its original building in 2012, locals and visitors still flock to this spot between James Island and Folly Beach for its local seafood dishes and picturesque sunset views at the end of a gravel road. The restaurant is known for its authentic oyster roast experience, making it a popular venue for reunions, parties, and even wedding receptions.
The food was good, with a huge amount of shrimp on our fish and shrimp plate. The restaurant itself is rustic, mostly open air, and a great place if you like those kinds of places which we do. The sunset is awesome there, but get there early enough to get a good seat. Large bar area.
Wayne B — Google review
The food is all fried. But, if you like oysters this is your place. It has one of the best views for sunset. Plenty of parking and everyone is very nice. It really is a good place for all visitors to come- they also do kayak and boat tours from here. It’s South Carolina- for sure! It’s not a swanky place- casual clothes and bug spray!
Cindy S — Google review
A hidden gem! If there’s a long line, grab a beer and enjoy the views! Absolutely everything is delicious. The best fried seafood I’ve ever had (I’m not big on fried food). The fried shrimp and fish are amazing. The crab dip is fantastic. Crab cakes are huge and tasty. Can’t beat washing it down with a cold beer or cocktail, all perfect with the open air, marshy beach vibe. Beautiful location with 360 views, open and low key atmosphere. Enjoy the breeze while you wait for your food. Can’t recommend enough!
Katie O — Google review
Best fried shrimp I've ever had, by far. Perfect combination of salt balancing the delicate sweetness of the shrimp with just a light coating of breading for crunch. The service...well...it matches the facilities. If you're looking for someone to shower you with praise or southern syrupy sweetness, this is not the restaurant you're looking for. If you want kickass seafood, come here.
Philip P — Google review
Overall great experience. The staff was nice. I got the fish and shrimp platter. It was delicious and lightly battered. My husband got the seafood platter with 2 crab cakes, shrimp, and fish. My favorite was the fish, it was the best tender melt in your mouth flounder I ever tasted.
Darcell J — Google review
I was afraid to check it out after reading the negative reviews but I am glad I did. It was busy, waited in line to order and food took a little longer than I would have expected. Oysters on the half shell were great. Shrimp and grits were tasty. I found a quiet seat in the raw bar with a great view, which might have made it a little harder to find me and my number. Ontario in the raw bar was super friendly and took good care of everyone there.

Good, fresh seafood. You can tell the difference from this and most restaurants. Restaurant has a rustic, homey local vibe, not fancy. Good variety of choices, everything we had we enjoyed. Wish the slaw came in bigger cups!!
Ralph K — Google review
Cafeteria style, order at window, find a seat (no hostess), always busy and popular with the locals, because food is great, but limited local fish/shellfish menu. By the time you order, you can usually find a table, because tables turn over quite quickly. Beautiful spot off the beaten path, so worth the stop if you like seafood!

Located at the end of Center Street, a bustling thoroughfare in town, Center Street Coffee is a cozy spot offering an array of breakfast options and invigorating coffee made from beans roasted on adjacent James Island. The cafe features a variety of pastries and baked goods delivered daily from local bakeries, making it an ideal place to start your day. Customers rave about the Turkish coffee and the option to pair their espresso, latte or cappuccino with delectable treats.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If I could give 100 stars, I would! This is my happy place. I’m a local and have tried tons of spots, but nothing comes close. The pastry with vegetables on top was absolutely freaking delicious!!!! And also the the Bulgarian cheese Ziva! DELICIOUS! The staff is amazing I ordered the wrong thing and they swapped it instantly with smiles. This place is an absolute must before heading to the beach! If you visit Folly Beach you have to go there thank me later!!!

To seek shelter from the rain, we decided to enter this place, which looked pretty casual, cozy and urban. The place is quite small, so if you want to sit and have a coffee, it's best to go with a maximum of two people. There are a few tables outside for three, though. We ordered hot chocolates. I wouldn’t say they were amazingly delicious, but they were good. We also ordered a butter croissant and a bagel, which came with two small servings of cream cheese. Both were good. I’d visit this place again, but probably just for takeout next time.
Mich C — Google review
Ema who works there is helpful and courteous. We had a talk about her beautiful home country in Klaipeda, Lithuania 🇱🇹 which I visited several times and while waiting for my order. The coffee is great. Aciu/iki, Emily.

On our first, travel lagged day in SC, we discovered this gem of an oasis. My son, a discerning Iced Latte consumer demeemed the one he had here as his best. While a tad pricey, the entire experience was worth it and I know we'll return before our holiday ends!

The owner was so lovely! I was going to order a specific coffee and she let me know she didn’t recommend because it wasn’t fresh, loved that! She was incredibly sweet & the staff rocked! We kept coming back for the chocolate croissant & coffee! I would literally travel all the way back to South Carolina just for that croissant, I think about it all the time now 😆

The drinks and food were okay. The view, the cool breeze with good company is what matters here. They have live music which is fun for a beach day. The table ordered pizza, I only drink, but they said "it's pizza".

Super cute restaurant right on the beach. Live music, photo booth and pinball machines. The only issue was the dogs that were allowed on the patio. The server was so kind and helpful.

The salmon dinner with spinach and rice was good kind of bland but it was good. The dry Cajun chicken also a plus taste more of the dry rub seasoning on it. The outside bar area felt great enjoying the weather. I ordered water so I didn’t really bother the server. The food came out to about $62 .. tacos - 17 Chicken- 16 Salmon dinner - 27

This is a beach side restaurant with a nice oceanfront view. Upon arrival we had to wait to be seated by the hostess who was talking to another employee & even when she saw us, she continued her conversation. Once seated it took about 5 minutes to get water & another 5 minutes to get menus. It took us forever to get our food but it was really good & still hot upon arrival. The salsa for the chips was terrible & the server didn’t even bother to check on us until we were almost done with our meals. The best part of this experience was the guy who was cleaning the tables. He was really friendly & kept us entertained. The food is overpriced too considering the limited menu options.
Liz — Google review
I love this place! For starters it's inside the hotel The Tides. The staff is always super friendly. The food here is always better than you would expect, actually better than most stand alone restaurants period. I would visit just to go eat here. If you sit outside you are next to the pier looking out over the beach and the ocean. I'm always impressed by the quality of the food here. And not to forget the prices are actually pretty good. I definitely recommend. I will be back for sure, even if it's just a day trip for the food and the scenery.

Island Breeze is a hidden gem located on Sol Legare Road near Charleston. The restaurant offers authentic Jamaican cuisine and a friendly atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy dishes like fried fish, jerk chicken, and oxtail while taking in beautiful views of the marsh from the front screen porch. The owners, Norma and Norm, are known for their warm hospitality, treating guests like family. Island Breeze also serves refreshing rum punch and domestic beer at affordable prices.
Real, friendly, wonderful food, inspirational setting, warm environment to meet, eat, play pool, talk about poetry, politics, love, and Lowcountry life. Mosquito Beach is a timeless gem in an ever-changing Charleston. This place is a dream...

Hate to give a bad review but I got sick the next day. In all honesty the food was fair for the price. I would rate this place a 3/5 if I did not get sick. Menu photos are out of date. August 2019, we had the Oxtails ($14) and Jerk Chicken ($12). Water is $1. The meat was tender but all the flavor relied on the sauce. For a dive bar there really isn’t dive bar prices. For a place like this where you are served in a styrofoam container and plastic cutlery, I would expect the food to be under $10. Atmosphere is fun and nice crowd but a bit greedy on the food prices and questionable hygiene.
Christopher S — Google review
Norma the owner was a perfect hostess. I ordered the fried flounder/shrimp/oyster trio and coleslaw. The trio was served warm skewered, but the breading was too much for me. The domestic beer was only $3 and the staff made up for the food. I should have made a different choice. Overall a unique view of a beached boat, the estuary, and a trio of friends trying to get a small business of the ground. I applaud your efforts. Hours are limited so check before you go. I met a man there who said he is an HBO producer working to get Island Breeze on a production. Filming was going on near Folly Beach, so who knows. Good Luck Norma!!
Deborah M — Google review
The rum punch is way too good...I would recommend going ahead and getting the larger one because you will end up ordering more anyway. We were driving back to Charleston from Folly Beach and saw the sign on the road and decided to stop in for one drink ...and ended up staying all afternoon. The owner is so genuinely friendly. The front screen porch has beautiful views. It is perfect for spending a day drinking rum punch and having great conversation with some of the most interesting people and learning about the history of the area. We will definitely check back in there if/when we are back in the Charleston area.
Suzanne W — Google review
I love Island Breeze! Norma is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met and she will make you feel right at home. The food is amazing and reasonably priced. Plus, there’s a beautiful view of the marsh and patio seating. Highly recommend the fried seafood.

Beautiful quaint little spot. Everyone was so friendly and the vibe was so chill. The fish was so good and the beers were nice and cold which felt good in the hot humid summer. There was a live band jammin to some reggae. Great time. Can't wait to go back.

I love this James Island secret Gem! Right on the marsh, friendly owners and the most authentic Jamaican food I have had since being in Jamaica! My favorites are the fried fish, cabbage salad, jerk chicken (not spicy like Americans mistakenly make it), the oxtail IS TO DIE FOR! Norm and Norma the owners will treat you like family. We go at least once a week on the way home from Folly beach for an awesome, reasonable home cooked dinner and a couple of drinks!
Michelle R — Google review
I ordered the oxtail plate and my Mother in law ordered the seafood trio; fish, shrimp, and scallops. The oxtail plate was very generous with 4 pieces of tender oxtail, a heaping amount of rice and peas, with a side off cabbage salad and sweet plantain. The plate was very authentic and 1 of the best Jamaican cuisines I have had in Charleston. The cabbage salad however tasted a bit more pickled than I would like. Needless to say I finished the whole plate. The atmosphere was Jamaican themed playing Reggae songs that we all know and love. The staff and owners were friendly and greeted us with a smile. I look forward to going back to dance, garlic crab night, or to just to relax on their patio with a cold one. Sorry I didn't take any pictures.

Gorgeous beach. Nice and clean. I didn't park at the $15 lot with the restrooms, playground, and restaurant. I just went down the same street and found a small free public lot between 2 beachfront houses. It had a boardwalk over the dunes to the beach. Definitely consider taking some shade, a cooler, a beach blanket/mat and sunscreen bc once you see and hear the waves crashing, taste the salt air, and get your feet in the ocean you won't want to leave.

I fished off the Folly Beach pier and had an absolute blast! It's beautiful. For $4 you can't go wrong. They have a nice bar outside just before you enter the pier as well as a nice restaurant just in front of the bar which you can dine inside or out. There's a well stocked tackle shop where you can rent a rod. Impressive please which I will definitely frequent again and again!

We went to Folly beach for a day trip on a Friday. The entrance fee is per car $15 M-F and $25 on the weekends during the summer. We arrived after 11 am and there were only a couple of parking spots left. So make sure to come in early. They have plenty of changing rooms and a rinse off station. The proximity to the beach from the parking is very close. There were lifeguards at the beach which is very nice. If you want less crowded space you would need to walk further away but then you are swimming on your own risk. There were a couple of turtle nests down the beach, they were fenced off and had a sign saying that they should not be disturbed. We also saw a dolphin playing in the waves which made my day!

It was a very beautiful day, I had an amazing walk on the beach. The water was warm. A bit contaminated with used band-aids. Only to return to my vehicle and see a $60 ticket on my window🤬😮‍💨 okay cool! Don't think I'll be back!

Beautiful beach, not crowded and has something for everyone....shallow enough to go far to catch waves for boogie boarding but gentle enough at the shore for kids and long and wide sandbar to walk on. See the pretty wishing tree

Comparing folly to Destin beaches it’s not as good, but we had an overall good time at the beach they had concession stands with pretty good milkshakes, and a really good cinnamon pretzel. the beach is clean no trash laying around and have a spray off area and parking was $15 which was a pretty good deal. The view was nice and wasn’t too crowded on the beach. overall it was good and I would go back

Rather good; usually go with the kids in the evening instead of getting sandy at the beach. Restrooms are usually locked by the time we get there, around 6ish. The back of the playground is slightly overgrown with vines but doesn't encroach too much on the swings there. The swings for adults at the front are good, but not in the shade in the evenings. Great place regardless!

Lost Dog Cafe is a charming spot that offers a delightful mix of all-day breakfast, coffee, sandwiches, salads, and wraps. The cafe's fun dog-themed decor adds to its cozy and family-friendly atmosphere. Whether you're in the mood for fresh-baked muffins and bagels or signature cinnamon rolls, Lost Dog Cafe has got you covered. Additionally, their lunch menu features kid-friendly options like quesadillas and hot dogs.
On a recent trip we had a late breakfast outside and it was a very positive experience! Our server was pretty efficient and even when it started getting bus she would have another runner/sever refill our drinks. Our food came out fast, fresh hot, and was all very delicious! My wife had the eggs Benedict, but got the fried tomatoes on the side - she loved it! We shared some things based off of reviews, the cinnamon roll is in fact incredible and the sausage gravy biscuit is super savory and flavorful! I had eggs, sausage, and grits that were excellent. Overall there was nothing we didn’t enjoy! The outside seating area got a little tight by the time we left, but it was adequate. To those about to nosh, I salute you!!

Homely, Chill, and Dog-Friendly Vibes! 📍The spot: It was packed on a Sunday morning, but don’t worry—seats open up fast (at least that was the case for me). The only thing is, the seating area gets a bit tight. If you love dogs, you’ll get a kick out of all the pup portraits on the wall. They’ve got seating inside and outside. 🥞 What we ordered: Society Street French Toast with fresh berries: Super tasty, but don’t expect a huge portion. The bread is fairly thin, so it’s not overly filling. French Dip (Croissant with Portobello and Roast Beef (specials menu): It was fine—well made but nothing to write home about. 🚗 Parking: Parking here is a bit of a challenge. The place doesn’t have its own parking lot, so good luck finding a spot! 🙋‍♂️The service: Pretty standard, nothing too memorable. Fast service. Final thoughts: It’s a super chill and comfy spot with cute dog portraits all over the walls. The food is simple and homemade, but for the price, it doesn’t totally blow your mind. Still, if you’re in the area and love a dog-friendly vibe, it’s worth checking out!

We stopped by on a rainy morning for breakfast. We got a mix of hot and iced chai and coffee. Please see the cute hot chia design. I had the international eggs Benedict with fried green tomatoes. It was a tasty combo. Friends enjoyed shrimp and grits, an omelet and a bagel. We enjoyed the vibe of the place. My friend that is gluten free enjoyed the omelet and just gave away her toast.

C-rolls to start your day with a blast of sweetness can’t be beat! The French Toast was great, as was the over-easy eggs with hardy toast and crisp bacon! For a mid-week (Tuesday) morning almost a zero wait for a party of 6 adults and 3 kids! The OJ was plenty, but a little thin! We will be back again next year!

We loved our breakfast at Lost Dog Café in Folly Beach! I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of cheesy grits — both were absolutely delicious and comforting. The kids got the happy pancakes, which were a huge hit and so fun with the fruit face design. My wife had the traditional breakfast, and everything came out hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The cozy, laid-back atmosphere and friendly staff made it such an enjoyable start to the day. Definitely a must-visit breakfast spot when you’re in Folly Beach!

Great place for breakfast in the Folly Beach area. Very walkable. If you don’t want to wait get here early. We got here a little after 9 and the inside was completely full so we sat outside on the deck which was nice! When we were on our way out there was a line out the door and numerous parties waiting. I ordered a coffee and the breakfast burrito. Both were delicious. I felt that the prices were reasonable but you’ll see on the menu they up charge for just about everything ($2 to split the plate, fee for bagging items to go, adding protein, etc). I felt the portion sizes were good and left full. Would recommend for grabbing breakfast. Love the decor with all of the dogs on the walls.

We had an incredible experience at Lost Dog Cafe! From the moment we walked in—despite arriving close to closing time—the entire staff made us feel completely welcome. The atmosphere was cozy and charming, with a laid-back vibe that perfectly complements the menu. Our group ordered a mix of breakfast and lunch favorites, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The real standout, though, was our waiter, Reid. His service was truly exceptional—friendly, attentive, and made us feel like valued guests from start to finish. If you’re looking for a local cafe with great food, amazing service, and a warm, welcoming environment, Lost Dog Cafe should be at the top of your list. We’ll definitely be back!!!
Matthew W — Google review
Had to wait about 50 minutes for a table (for breakfast!), but food was touted as “The best in Folly Beach”, so we willing to wait (although they estimated 30 minutes). We started with a cinnamon roll (warm) which was yummy. Before we were halfway done with that, our breakfast was served. My partner enjoyed her meal, but my Eggs Benedict was served cold, which was especially disconcerting as it was served extremely quickly (How does THAT happen?!?). Hundreds of dog photos are everywhere to soften your heart, even if the food falls short.

Bert's Market, located on Ashley Avenue, is a vital establishment on Folly Beach. This 24-hour grocery store offers a wide range of essential items, beer, wine, and even features a deli and grille serving classic dishes like sandwiches, wraps, salads, burgers, and fries. It's not just a place to stock up on supplies; it's an integral part of the Folly Beach experience with its unique character.
Bert’s is a must stop shop on your Folly Beach trip! We are vacationing and stumbled into this crowed place this morning for breakfast. The crowd and traffic jam out front drew us in and we are so happy it did! Even with three kids in tow, well worth the wait for their amazing breakfast! We got the breakfast burrito, loaded bagel sandwich (amazing on the jalapeno and cheddar bagel) and a regular bagel with cream cheese. My husband was eager to try their Buffalo chicken wrap too, so we added that on along with a homemade blueberry muffin! Not only a deli serving up fresh meals, but also a convenience store that offers alcohol, sodas, ice cream, souvenirs and trinkets! We saw fresh fruit and eggs and toiletries too! Bert’s has it all and their slogan is the best - “May doze but we never close”. We will be back!

Bert's was such a blessing. If you forgot something for vacation chances are that they have it in house. The coffee is free, donations accepted. They offer freshly made breakfast sandwiches, numerous wraps and lunch offerings from BBQ to spicy chicken sandwiches to chili dogs. Fresh baked goods, cheesecakes and many different flavors of ice cream. It allowed for a more than adequate lunch and allowed our family additional time to spend on the beach, explore the island and just lounge around on benches and listen to live music. The staff was friendly and welcoming no matter how many times you stopped in or what time day or night. When you come to Folly beach you must stop by this little store at some point on your adventures! As Always, Enjoy!

Fun place. I was there with a friend during our beach day. They had a lot of interesting things there. I even saw a nice pair of drumsticks from Vic firth that I almost bought. The food is really good too.

Bert’s Market is an absolute gem in Folly Beach! Whether you need a quick snack, a late-night burger, or a cold drink after the beach, this place has it all — and it’s open 24/7! The vibes are fun and laid-back with tons of local character and stickers covering every surface. Staff is super friendly, food hits the spot (the subs and fries are awesome), and you can even grab beer or wine while you’re there. Folly Beach wouldn’t be the same without Bert’s!

Chillest shop around. If you want a laid-back vibe, w the feeling of a friendly place to go, look no further. Reminds me of stores when I used to skate everywhere. 👌Also, the BREAKFAST BURRITOS......try them or you'll regret not trying them.

Fun little market on the island. A little pricey but what do you expect with it being the only store on the island? They pretty much have everything you need from ice cream to burgers and pizza, breakfast!! Open 24hrs a day too! Fun place to go too! My teenagers love this place!

Perfect market for this friendly laidback beach! Bert’s has everything you need. Food, groceries, toiletries, household items, beer, wine, and more! You cannot visit Folly Beach without stopping here. We had breakfast from here most days during our stay. Staff is super friendly. Service is fast. Food is good. This establishment is truly a wonderful part of this community and it shows. Bert’s is open 24/7….perfect if you suddenly need something any time of day!

Italian restaurant
Alfredo's On Folly is a hidden gem located on West Hudson Avenue near Center Street. Despite its unassuming appearance, this Italian eatery offers a taste of Italy in a charming and laid-back setting. The menu features excellent sandwiches, panini, and a small selection of homemade pasta with delectable house-made sauces. Visitors can expect a no-frills atmosphere with friendly staff and an array of pasta dishes served in compostable boats.
Put down your phone and just eat here! It’s that damn good! During a recent trip, my wife and I ate here three times! All of the pasta is fresh and cooked perfectly. The sauces are tasty, flavorful, and plentiful. The garlic bread has a perfect texture and flavor. The Caesar salad salad is outstanding. Truthfully, this is an outstanding place to eat and such a little hole in the wall you would never expect it. The staff was always friendly, the chef is always eager to please, and overall, we were just thrilled. Obviously, we ate there three times in a short period of time! Do those about to nosh, I salute you! Note: for the record, on our third visit, we got it to go. The sauces, salad and garlic bread were all outstanding. The pasta had a little bit of an unusual flavor and we think that one of their pots had gone dry and the bottom had scorched. And when they had cooked the pasta in it, it picked up that burnt scorched flavor. Was not as pleasant as the previous two visits, but we think it was an honest mistake and we would not let that deter us from eating here again!
Patrick S — Google review
This is an all-around great restaurant. The food tastes fresh, the atmosphere is a great, casual but homey vibe. I am not a pasta aficionado by any means but this is a great example of a quality meal at a great price. I wish I was closer so I could come back! Staff is also very friendly.
Matt O — Google review
When we ate at Alfredo’s we had a very pleasant experience. We got the tomato basil sauce, the carbonara sauce and the almond arugula pesto with different noodles. Everything was spectacular and the service was great! The only thing I wish was different was that I had more food :)! I would say this food is better than “authentic Italian”.
Lily H — Google review
This is how you do food. This is how you do business. Fantastic value, fresh homemade food made with integrity. I won’t go to folly without visiting Alfredo’s ever again. They deserve to be in business for the next 100 years, and I’ll be a customer as long as they are. Never change Alfredo’s, you’re doing it perfectly right.
Matthew P — Google review
I’m not normally the type of person to leave a review, but this place seriously deserves it. I heard about this restaurant originally on social media. The girl was raving about how amazing this place is. I agree entirely. I have nothing negative to say about it. It’s right on Folly Beach and is a hidden gem. The service is unbelievable, everyone is so nice and helpful! Everything is made fresh in the Restaurant, but it is still really affordable! And you can’t go wrong with anything you order, it’s all amazing! When I come back to Charleston, this is going to be my first stop!!
Nevada M — Google review
Hear me out - you’re at the beach and everyone wants to eat seafood. I get it. But if you want to switch it up, head to Alfredo’s for pasta that is made fresh daily. This place is quaint and the food is served in to-go containers, so nothing fancy. Their energy is clearly focused on pumping out fantastic food (and having a clean bathroom). The sauces are homemade and you’d never mistake them for something from a can or jar. The Alfredo sauce is perfection and the brazed short ribs were the best we’ve ever had. We also ordered the sausage and lentil soup, and that was fantastic! You won’t be disappointed.
Amy T — Google review
Alfredo's is hands down my favorite restaurant on Folly! Every visit has been a great experience. The food is amazing and fresh, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming. Plus, the prices are very reasonable. Easily a 10/10 recommend! The garlic bread is the MVP!
Aaron R — Google review
This place is an absolute grand slam when it comes to Italian. You can tell the pasta is homemade and everything is done the right way. Many other italian places could learn a thing or two observing what these guys do. The pasta and garlic bread out of this world! Highly recommend. Just wish it was closer to home because I want more.

Slice of Folly is a small but popular spot on Folly Beach, offering authentic New York-style pizza by the slice or whole pie. In addition to their delicious pizzas, they also have daily pasta specials and mini calzones. Whether you're in a hurry or want to sit down and enjoy your meal, Slice of Folly has you covered. With a variety of pizza options available, it's the perfect place to grab a quick bite before heading back to the beach.
Was getting two slices of pepperoni pizza that came fresh out the oven and some guy gave us two slices for free and was shocked by it. I kinda felt bad because I was seconds away from paying but everything turned out for the better. The quality of the pizza is BEYOND AMAZING. I love it. All the way from Columbia, I’ll definitely come back to get a slice or two…or even a WHOLE pizza! Ignore the bad reviews because the bad reviews are the exact opposite of the good reviews. If you’re looking for a GOOD, best quality, and AMAZING slice of pizza, go here. I promise the $5.25 a slice is so worth it. Atmosphere was awesome too. We had a few laughs and the wait for the fresh pizza was well worth every bite. as a couple from Columbia SC and Boston MA… WE WILL BE BACK. 🍕❤️

Great little pizza place with around 4 seats for people to sit inside and enjoy their Pizza in a nice AC cooled room during the summer. Pizza is decently priced, can’t complain in today’s world. Taste is alright, some may not like it however. Overall If I could rate in between, I would rate 4.6 stars. Great place, great folks running the place, pretty great atmosphere. Paid 50 bucks in all for a whole pizza 2 drinks and 2 ice cream bars.

The garlic breadsticks were soft and delicious! We got the pizza slice and drink combo. It is a great deal for the price; large slice of pizza with one of any of the drinks. They do sesame seeds on the crust which tasted great. Highly recommend joes peach tea, meat lovers pizza and breadsticks .

The staff were very friendly and the pizza was great! The chicken bacon ranch pizza tasted great and the crust had just the right amount of crunch. I was also pleasantly surprised how affordable it was, especially since it's on Folly Beach. It was one of the best slices I've had in a while. I'll definitely be back for more!
Justin S — Google review
The food was delicious, the restaurant was a cute little place, and the service was great! The prices are pretty normal for a beach restaurant, around 6 bucks for a large slice and soft drink. I had a small issue with a miss charge, and they immediately made it right!! I definitely recommend this place for a meal after a day at the beach.

We got takeout from Slice of Folly and it was absolutely excellent. The pizza was hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. The crust was perfectly cooked, the toppings were generous, and everything tasted high quality. The delivery driver was friendly and our order was here right on time. We’ll definitely be ordering again the next time we’re on Folly. Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for great pizza!

White Point Garden is a picturesque public garden located by the water, featuring paved pathways, military statues, cannons, and picnic areas. It is one of the must-visit attractions in Charleston, South Carolina. The garden offers a serene environment for leisurely strolls and picnics while enjoying views of the waterfront. Visitors can also explore nearby landmarks such as Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, Fort Sumter & Fort Moultrie, and Rainbow Row.
Last while in South Carolina, visiting my son, we went to what he called Battery Park. It was a really nice breeze off the the day I think you call it. I couldn't stay there all day watching the birds nesting in the trees just Out Of Reach. Stop and talk to so many people about the birds and the area and it was just a lovely day

This place was a gem.... Not very much to do here, but if you appreciate Confederate history, you'll have fun here and enjoy the monuments, and if you're a whiny liberal snowflake, I recommend you stay away from here... The Confederate monuments might hurt your sissy feelings.... On a serious note, there is a lot of rich history here and it is amazing to know this city still has an endearment attitude towards the confederacy.... Beautiful!!!!

Beautifully kept garden area with cool, photo worthy structures and sites. Just FYI, there may be homeless in some of these structures. We couldn't go into the main one due to that so we took pics of everything else We loved the history of the area and it's definitely worth checked out. It's right next to the Ashley River which you have a very nice location to view it from up top.

Morris Island

Island
Morris Island, located within Charleston Harbor, is a historic and charming uninhabited island that was the site of a significant American Civil War battle. Visitors can explore the island's fort remains and iconic lighthouses, including the well-known candy-cane-striped Morris Island Light. Boat tours are available to reach the island for shelling, relaxation, and picture-taking opportunities. Accessible only by boat, it offers a unique adventure in Charleston.
Love South Carokina's tallest lighthouse. If you have a ship or boat, you can see it close up. Otherwise, enjoy the view from afar. Island is cut off from the mainland. Do not try to swim there. The sea is too dangerous

Came here for a team outing on a guided tour with Coastal Expeditions from their Shem Creek location. We had a great time finding shark teeth and just enjoying some relaxing time on the beach.
Luke G — Google review
Nice drive out to this beach. It was very clean and we were able to find two sharks teeth along with some beautiful seashells. Very large beach area to hang out and enjoy the sun.
Geneva M — Google review
Lovely beach with TONS of shells. You need a boat to get here. (We used COA — highly recommend!) plenty of wildlife to check out. We saw hermit crabs, lots of birds, dolphins, sea snails. People brought their dogs and anchored just off shore. Lovely lighthouse to wander around near, although it is not accessible for tours and is no longer functional. There are no restroom facilities on the island.
Mandy H — Google review
There won't be many people out here and the expansive views combined with the constant sounds of waves and sea fowl is extremely relaxing. Be sure to look for shells and sharks teeth while you walk the beach. For an easy way to get out here, book an eco-cruise with Charleston Outdoor Adventures.
Chas K — Google review
Dredging around Morris Island, particularly in the Charleston Harbor area, led to the exposure of fossil-rich deposits, including shark teeth. Morris Island is known for its geological formations that contain fossilized remains, including those of sharks that lived millions of years ago. When dredging operations disturb the sediment layers beneath the water, it can uncover these fossils and bring them to the surface. Embarking on a modern-day adventure on Morris Island to uncover fossilized shark teeth is like stepping into a time capsule, delving into the ancient mysteries of our natural world. As you stroll along the sandy shores, the anticipation of discovering artifacts from creatures that roamed the seas millions of years ago adds an exhilarating touch to the experience. With each sift through the sand, the thrill of finding teeth from formidable species like Megalodon, great white, tiger, and Mako sharks is a direct connection to the prehistoric marine ecosystem. It's a tangible reminder of the immense power and diversity that once ruled the oceans. The winds whispering through the coastal landscape carry echoes of a bygone era, making the quest for these fossilized treasures not just a beachcombing activity but a journey through time. The juxtaposition of the modern explorer and ancient artifacts creates a sense of awe and appreciation for the enduring wonders of our planet. The fossils, once part of apex predators, now lie patiently, waiting to be discovered and admired, fostering a profound connection to the incredible history embedded in our natural world.
Matthew C — Google review
We went there on a tour from @adventure harbor tours.on Captian Howies boat. I brought my dog. We walked up and down the beach and Charlie swam in the ocean. The park boasts ample greenery and open spaces where furry friends can frolic freely. It also features various obstacles and play structures designed to stimulate their energy and agility.
It’s small, but it’s fairly new and located in the middle of a neighborhood on Folly Beach. Parking is available but extremely limited. It is sand so be prepared for that to go in your car when you leave. They have a water area for the dogs, several benches and picnic tables.

Yikes not sure how this place has gotten such rave reviews. This dog park is tiny! It felt so very cliquey, like a neighborhood block party. Upon arrival about 6 or 7 dogs (2-3 barking) were anxiously awaiting me and my pup’s arrival through the gate. Which sounds sweet and all, and it is, but all of the owners were at the other end of the park not paying attention and gossiping or what have you, and all of the dogs jumped all over us and the gate before we could get our bodies inside. No owners seemed to notice or care, and they certainly didn’t stop their dogs! There was a large friendly but energetic and socially awkward pit bull who did not take a hint that my dog wasn’t particular interested in playing with him and he would let my dog out of his site or space. . . Owner seemed to think my dog was the problem. Anyway, this place was a nightmare!! The owners who apparently dominate the place literally have no clue about dog park etiquette, coming from someone who has visited 100s of dog parks around the country. Neither me nor my dog is perfect, but I think the owners need to get out of their neighborhood bubble and read up on typical dog park etiquette.

Well maintained, but I got bit on my feet by something (sand fleas?). Just make sure your pet is up on preventatives.

Morris Island Lighthouse is a striking red-and-white lighthouse located off the coast, originally rebuilt in the 19th century. Accessible by boat, it offers a picturesque view from Folly Island's northern tip. Visitors can drive most of the way and take a short sandy hike to reach a beautiful hidden beach with easy viewing of the lighthouse. The beach provides an ideal spot to witness stunning sunsets over the marsh, with the lighthouse as a central feature.
Morris Island Lighthouse is absolutely beautiful. The graffiti walkway is interesting. The beach is unique with rocks and driftwood/trees. It was very peaceful. Parking isn't easy as there is no designated parking lot. You have to park along the road. It was pretty busy when I was there.
Kelly L — Google review
I wanted to see the lighthouse at sunrise, because of traffic missed it by a few minutes but still a beautiful location, especially at a low tide because of dead trees and driftwood. From parking to the light house it's probably a 10-15 minute walk with the last 5 minutes on soft sand which may make it hard for some people. Well worth the walk and time spent.
Dave D — Google review
Took a dolphin sunset cruise that stopped at Morris island. This was a great trip. The lighthouse is on its own island due to storms. There is a shipwreck and more seashells than you can imagine. Flipper finders @ Folly beach was wonderful and our Captain was extremely knowledgeable and made it a fun trip.
Beth T — Google review
Gorgeous place!!! Loved that it was a sorry walk to the light house and was pleasantly surprised at the beach area!!! It's a beauty!!!
Courtney A — Google review
It’s a bit of a walk to get there, but there are so many shells on the beach!! And the street is completely covered in graffiti which was really cool to see!
Hannah B — Google review
It is way off the beaten path and does require a 1/2 mile walk to view clearly. It is on an island so you cannot get close. Parking is down the road and just wasn't feasible for someone with a wheelchair or walker. I was able to get a picture across the marsh.
Candice ( — Google review
We had a blast walking the beach. As long as the tide is low enough there is lots of walking area. Sand was quite hot that day so bring flippies. No swimming once you hit the lighthouse area but there is a nice garden of driftwood and a boat graveyard of sorts. I was disappointed no dolphins the day we went but after walking a couple miles to get there we were too beat to wall the extra mile or so to the other side of the cove.
Andrea T — Google review
Download the app to pay your admission fee; it’s a great rate ($1/person per day) (see images in this review for those details). Some free parking out front is available; but extremely limited. There is a paid parking lot nearby that was about $10.50 for the day (ending ~10p) with cheaper options for select hourly ranges (text DRY to 87517 for the link for the Summer Place parking lot). It’s a bit of a walk, but not terrible by any means; I can see it being exhausting on a scorching hot day with the sea-salted humidity though. The whole pathway is asphalt with graffiti all over, which keeps the walk interesting. No motorized vehicles allowed; but cyclists went up and down easily as its flat-land. Only hill is at the end of cross the dunes (sandy hill, no wooden bridge). We’ve been plenty of times and it’s enjoyable each time.

Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve, located at the far east side of Folly Beach, is a picturesque oceanside preserve offering a variety of activities. Visitors can explore marshland and maritime forests, enjoy the beach, go surf fishing, and indulge in birdwatching. The site played a significant role in the Civil War and has historical significance. Access to the preserve is available from sunrise to sunset daily for a nominal fee.
Beautiful! The walk out was cool and interesting to see all the art on the pavement! The lighthouse with the Arthur Ravenel Bridge in the background was a bonus. We relaxed and enjoyed the view. It was also not windy there even though it was very windy on the other beaches! Parking does seem limited if it was a busy day so I would plan accordingly, especially in the tourist months.

We took the stroll down the graffiti filed sidewalk, over the dune and sat on the beach to have lunch. The fog rolled in and the lighthouse disappeared. You can’t swim here because of the currents. You could actually see them spinning in the water.
Kathleen A — Google review
Such a beautiful place that me and my beautiful wife decided to get married here. The scenery, the driftwood, the lighthouse, the water, and the sunset. Could not be more breathtaking. The place we decided to "tie the knot" was called "The Washout"! Definitely worth the long walk to reach this spot. Not as crowded as you would think and we had our ceremony on a Saturday, around 7:45pm, 8pm.
David F — Google review
Beautiful scenic area to take a stroll or to just relax. Parking is hit or miss, but we were lucky to find a great spot. Graffiti walkway makes for a fun interesting walk to the inlet. Once there, enjoy the views of the lighthouse and the sounds of the birds. Nice area to search for shells.
Mrsr91899 — Google review
I had not previously explored this particular area of Folly Beach. Upon approaching the hotel on the main strip, I turned left and continued until the road's end. I discovered a lengthy road adorned with numerous graffiti art pieces. During my visit, I was fortunate enough to find some coral, shells, and even a shark tooth! I also greatly enjoyed observing the driftwood. The area was not heavily populated, which made for a very relaxing experience.
Kai — Google review
Beautiful view of the lighthouse. Easy to park. Less crowded than other beach access points.
J. J — Google review
This was something you need to be way more prepared to do. Parking is very difficult and the walk to the beach, while very cool and full of graffiti is LONG! We spent a couple hours looking for shark teeth, but came up empty handed. Yes, we went at low tide, but honestly the sand is so greasy and covered in sea foam from the ship pollution it was hard to see what we were touching. I would recommend a set of rubber gloves if you are going. They did have some cool spots for pictures on some driftwood trees that washed ashore with the lighthouse behind. Overall, I am indifferent about the experience, but I always like to see new places.

Pirate's Cove Playground

Playground
Pirate's Cove Playground, situated on the 5th block east between Erie and Hudson, is a Folly-themed attraction featuring pirate ships, boats, and a lighthouse slide. Families can partake in various activities such as basketball, skateboarding, tennis, and playing at the playground area which includes a rope-webbed jungle gym and a toddlers' shrimp boat.
Very cute park! No dogs allowed but great for our 2 year old.

Very quiet beaches. Very kick back. Newly renovated basketball, and tennis courts.
Daniel G — Google review
Park poorly maintained. My daughter was so excited for this park. Only to find the slide broken and the wood rotten on the equipment. This place deeply needs help and repair. Someone here actively maintaining the pickleball court and no help with the broken playground equipment for the children. Priorities.
Trenton — Google review
Its ok. Not as clean as most beaches I've been to but its ok.
Guilliano J — Google review
The playground itself is good. Has a climbing dome, pirate ship, swings for babies and kids and some benches to sit. The lighthouse with the slide is currently broken. There is no access to the beach from here so I believe the reviews about beach are more for the actual beach which is 2 blocks away.
Svenja D — Google review
This is a good small park for parents and kids to take a break. However, I agree with the previous review as the slide still broken. That review was 4 months ago. So how long does it take to fix a slide? Just need some new bolts. That really does seem to be neglectful.
Joel C — Google review
Such a fun, cool playground blocks from Folly Beach! Hosted a birthday party there for my teen and everyone loved it!! Played basketball/dodgeball and then took a swim in the beach...in mid-March!! Love this place!
Sabrina P — Google review
A small playground with a posted age limit of 13. I recommend under 10. There are swings for toddlers and a pyramid spider-climber for older kids, plus two structures for 5 to 10 year-olds: a lighthouse and a fishing trawler (boat). There is also a gazebo and a couple of benches in the shade for tired parents. This is a great little playground for when you feel like getting off the beach.

Lowlife Bar is a breezy and rustic spot that offers a global menu featuring dishes like jerk chicken and tuna poke, along with a variety of cocktails. It's tucked away near Berts Market and features an ever-changing seasonal menu with locally sourced ingredients. You can choose to sit inside or outside, order from the bar, and enjoy top-notch drinks such as the Farmer Tan cocktail made with tequila, chipotle, strawberry, pineapple, and lime.
Casual beach bar that is consistently good. I love the Poke Bowl, but I've never had anything I don't like. Very dog friendly. Nice bar and specialty drinks. Social atmosphere.

Great place for casual drinking and eating. Food is very good. Try the Thai Brussels sprouts and the shrimp roll. And the fried chicken sandwich. Their fries are great too. friendly service. Outside seating available. You seat yourself and order at the bar. Pretty fast service. Went back for brunch. Burrito was great. The fried chicken was a bit dry. A little light on the avocado on the avocado toast, but tasty. Friendly service and good place to hang out.

I LOVE Lowlife bar!! The servers and bartenders are incredible! I came by for lunch and the server brought me all the different dipping sauces for the shrimp sandwich. The customer service is 1000/10 and the food and drinks tasted amazing. Highly recommend!

I love it here. I visit Charleston 3-4 times a year and this is a staple stop. We walk along the beach and then stop here for lunch every visit. The vibe is definitely a beach vibe and not for people who need upscale. But for people looking for good food that is reasonably priced-this is a place to try. Last but not least-they have the best pickles I’ve tasted in the southeast. Those of us who grew up in the northeast love our pickles and ‘know’ a good pickle when we taste it. The only issue is the parking; but that is expected in beach towns like this.
Eileen M — Google review
This is my favorite bar/restaurant on Folly. The atmosphere is great and there's always a good mixed crowd. Bonus points if Liam Murphy is playing! The food is all good - the chicken sandwich is one of the best I've ever had. My husband loves the smoked pork tacos. The caesar is a little too heavy on the dressing but you an get it with the fried chicken... so good. The portions are HUGE. They also have great cocktails - creative and balanced. Its not cheap but 100% worth it.
Leslie G — Google review
The guy in the in the maroon shirt is the guy everyone is talking about in the bad reviews. Came in with 4 friends, 3 of us order the same cocktail to make it easy on the bartender + 2 beers. We order, the bartender rolls his eyes as if we are an inconvenience. Instead of splitting the bill 5 ways, we closed out each time. He was SO Rude everytime we ordered even though each person tipped the appropriate amount. Totally killed our vibe, we've been here before but will NOT be back!
A — Google review
This was a very lively atmosphere and the food was really good! The poke wontons were fresh but smaller like an appetizer. The tiny mushrooms were a nice touch and added some woodiness. The jerk chicken was amazing with tangy and flavorful spices, perfectly cooked and with subtly coconut and lime rice. You order everything at the bar and they bring it to you. We also tried the ice cream taco and it was small for the price but it had a good shell and the ice cream inside was very tasty. A lot of whipped cream around it and not a lot of fruity pebbles. We didn’t try any drinks but the looked great as well!
Rachel S — Google review
Yes, you have to go to the bar to order. Yes, you have to get your own water and refills. But listen, we’ve been in town for 3 days now and this has been the BEST meal we’ve had thus far. The staff is extremely helpful, their patio is dog friendly and their food is phenomenal. The Avocado Toast with smoked salmon was to die for and the crab cake sandwich with waffle fries was extremely flavorful. You cannot miss this spot when visiting Folly Beach!!

Charleston Crab House is a laid-back restaurant with a friendly vibe, offering a menu focused on crab and other classic seafood dishes. Located on James Island along Wappoo Creek, it's popular among boaters and even allows guests to bring in their own freshly-caught fish for cooking. The Southern-inspired menu features favorites like the Carolina Platter, alongside an array of burgers and sandwiches.
Literally so good. We took a day trip here from Lexington to get local seafood and i am in love. The flavor was amazing. We sat outside near the water and had an amazing server. We got the boil baskets and i ate every bite.

I have been here multiple times and just keep coming back and bringing my out of town guests. They always leave happy, so I’m good with that. The service was really good. The food was good- We always like to visit the river in hopes of seeing the draw bridge up or the many dolphins that meet here at the dock. We sat inside but there is plenty of outside seating to see the lively sunset.

From start to finish, we recommend the James Island location 10/10. Michael, the Manager was so welcoming and accommodating for our larger party. He set the tone for our meal and the hospitality was incredible. Alyssa was our server. She was fantastic, attentive, and patient during our entire visit. The Carolina platter was more than enough food for 2 meals, and the dessert was perfect. The peanut butter pie was incredible. We visit this location every year on our family vacation, and will continue to come back each year based on the food and excellent service.
Jessica B — Google review
The atmosphere was delightful and family-friendly—great for a toddler! We enjoyed a beautiful view of Wappoo Creek and even watched the drawbridge go up for a passing boat, which was such a fun touch. The food was very good overall; while the fish was a bit dry, the scallops, shrimp, crab cake, hush puppies, and seafood pasta were all cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Prices were typical for Charleston seafood—about $120 for three adults, one child, and an appetizer. A wonderful spot for fresh seafood with a relaxed, scenic vibe! Highly recommend the hush puppies and Carolina grits! Fantastic!
Stephanie B — Google review
We came to the restaurant by boat at 4:30 on a Friday. It had been hot on the water, so we decided to dine in. We were early, so seating wasn't a problem. We were seated right away, and we had a great window table with a view of our boat, the water as well as the bridge over Folly road. Our server was quick and efficient. We ordered margaritas and opted not to have an appetizer. The boyfriend got the seafood trio, and I got the pimento burger with the pimento cheese on the side. Instead of the Waffle fries, I opted for Lima beans because this is Charleston. The burger was amazing, cooked, perfectly very fresh and the side of pimento cheese was cheesy! Almost overwhelming cheese sauce BUT quickly won me over. I tasted the boyfriend's seafood trio and the scallops were my favorite. He got the rice with red beans. I love red beans and rice and this was felt that the rice was undercooked. He loved it.

Great place to sit and watch the water from. I had the shrimp and grits and they were wonderful. Got to see a couple of dolphins swimming on the Wappoo creek while we were dining.

The Atmosphere: Very cool place in Folly beach with an awesome beach restaurant vibe. The food: I ordered the Blackened Flounder Tacos and they were just ok. Kind of bland tasting. I mostly tasted shredded cabbage. My wife had the Caesar Chicken wrap and I tasted it and it was delicious. Everyone else in our party liked their food. I will definitely come back but try something different next time. The burgers looked amazing so I would try that next. Service: We had a group of 9 ppl. We sat at two booths and my booth ordered first. The party with us got their food about 20 minutes before we did. They were done eating before we got our food. It was a busy night in March, so I understand being busy. I feel they should have brought all our food out together. Final Thoughts: All in all I would definitely still give them a second try. It wasn’t a bad experience but maybe just an off night. This place came highly recommended so I’m sure it was just an off night.

Visiting Folly, so had to check out loggerhead’s again - our go-to place for beers on the rooftop terrace and some food. The servers were friendly and greeted us on arrival and let us choose where to sit. There was live music on the terrace which was pretty good and not so loud. The food was a little slow to arrive but when it did it was tasty and well-presented. I had flounder sandwich and waffle fries and my partner had Philly Cheese Steak with onion rings. The fried sides were lovely and crispy (nobody likes pale and soggy sides!). My flounder sandwich was fantastic too, my partner’s PCS was good but not amazing (more like a sloppy Joe than a PCS). They had our favourite beer - Miller Highlife - but only in cans (we prefer bottles or tap). So very nearly a full five score from us with just minor details taking the edge off. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon.

Great spot to go on a Friday night! It had live music outside on the deck, which made for a good time. They are also very pro-dog, as we were able to have our dog out on the deck with us while we ate! The staff loved her and there was even a water bowl set out for her. This place was really good, but the prices were a tad bit high. However, we will still be coming back! The broccoli was great! And I also recommend the Buffalo Chicken Philly. This is a lively atmosphere with a bar, good music, good food, and kind staff. I only wish the menu had slightly more options, and wish parking was easier. Other than these things, it was a great experience!

I had the one and only steak option on the menu. It was cooked (rare) to perfection! Great atmosphere and great service! They had live music on the patio, which is where we chose to sit, but the gf and I were still able to hold a conversation with each other albeit with higher volumes of voice lol.

Great environment. From the Philadelphia area and truly felt at home here. Food was phenomenal (yes, even the hoagie and cheesesteak). Definitely recommend for an Eagles game or just for a few beers with the locals.

I love that you can eat outside! I can’t remember our waitress name but she was really good. I believe she said she was from Kansas City. I loved that they have the Irish coffe recipe from the old Irish pub. This was the best thing I had . My mother in law said the flatbread was really good. The fried oysters were ok but nothing to write home about! I will definitely be back but get rid of that Eagles stuff! Go cowboys! lol

Great little coastal restaurants. Some menu items looked a bit small for the price until we tasted them. The quality truly made up for the quantity. Quite surprised it was slow so close to the holiday weekend. Possibly the fact they are much farther down the beach than the other restaurants may be, but should not be, the reason. Definitely worth the few extra blocks. It ended up being the best meal and best atmosphere (including not too loud live music) on the island.

I ordered the shrimp tacos and fried flounder — both were delicious. The frozen margarita was tasty and refreshing, although it didn’t have much of an alcohol kick. We sat out on the patio, which had a nice view and a relaxing vibe. The biggest issue was the service. The food takes a bit long so when we asked our server about it, she replied that it had only been ten minutes — with an unfriendly expression. She never came by to check on us during the meal, we have to ask for water and silverware. Also, she also forgot our soup. Everything else was lovely, but the service experience could’ve been much better.

5 Stars! The Pier at Folly Beach absolutely delivered! The food was top notch — fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. The staff was incredibly friendly and on point the entire time, making the experience even better. And you just can’t beat that view — absolutely stunning! Prices were reasonable too, which was a nice surprise. We would (and definitely will) be back again. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Folly Beach!

The atmosphere is hard to beat. The food is what you’d expect from a bar. Fish tacos were good but you won’t mistake it for a gourmet seafood restaurant. The service was OK just seemed like they had a lot of tables per server so they were stretched then. It’s a great place to watch the beach while you eat, even though you may have to fight off a few birds as you’re trying to eat your French fries. If you are busy, the beach near the pier I’ll recommend you eat here out of convenience.

Certainly a great place to sit down ocean front after spending a few hours on the water and enjoy the sound of waves. Service is very prompt, we were quickly seated, promptly and politely attended to, even promptly got us replacement food when they got one of dishes we ordered wrong. Food is not good at all. Very very oily, salty and pretty bland. I don't think the shrimp and fish are fresh, they taste like what you get in Walmart. See the pictures, the brussel sprouts are soaking in oil. Even the local canned beer is bad, no draft. Certainly does not have good selection of vegeterian options , understood being a seafood place. My family suggested to give 1 star, I am giving 3 because of the location and the service.

Food was fabulous! We had chicken fingers, turkey club wrap, French fries, and Pier salad add chicken. I do not know how they season that chicken breast, but it was sooo good! Definitely had cilantro and maybe lemon and pepper. The strawberry margarita was okay. Could have used a bit more strawberry puree. There was also live entertainment. He had not started singing before we left, but the seagull was a great opening act.

We've been coming here for years because it's great. Unassuming beach bar with tons of character. Outdoor seating year around under big oak trees and Spanish moss. Very casual, first come, first serve. Variety of beers and drinks with a daily limited menu that is culinary excellence. Never had anything that wasn't excellent. Found this place in a search for street tacos and it was well worth the trip. Parking 🅿️ is a pain to find, so drop off your party and tell them to order you the pork tacos. The atmosphere is great, especially if the weather is nice because they have outdoor seating only. the food is also unique. but if you're not a fan of spicier foods, it may not be the place for you.

My husband and I had the best pork tacos there. There was this seltzer drink from Revelry brewery, with fruit that was amazing. I would love the recipe to that drink. I have been trying to duplicate it but I can't. Delicious!

Drawn by the music we stopped by to have a look and ended up eating lunch and found that this tiny building turned out some pretty tasty tacos. They were spicy and had what tasted like fresh ingredients. They were served with a smile and the staff seemed friendly and eager to please. They place itself was just a little run down and a bit crowded together for myself. They have a full bar and live music in the evenings. The prices were more than fair and definitely worth a visit. As Always, Enjoy!

First time visiting the area and stopped in here based off the great reviews. This place did not disappoint. The mahi tacos are truly authentic fresh ingredients street style tacos to die for. The service and vibe is a real Folly beach gem. And the live Music! Great relaxing island jams. I look forward to the day I get to come back here

The restaurant caters to both vegetarians and meat eaters, with a majority of the dishes being vegetarian or vegan-friendly.
Recommended by a friend while we were in town for a wedding - talk about a hidden gem!! Such good food and fun drink options (alcoholic and non). My husband and I loved it and wish we lived closer to have a chance to try the whole menu. Absolutely recommend for anyone who is vegan, vegetarian or omnivore for great flavors and unique options in a funky and cozy space!

This place is a hidden gem and deserves more notoriety! Don’t judge by how it looks on the outside because it is awesome and has so much character. We got sat in the outdoor space where it makes you feel like you’re hanging out at a friend’s backyard. Ian was our server who also does all the beverage so he was able to give us very thorough details and recommendations. I had to get the pickle martini, I mean come on do you love pickles or pickle juice? I don’t like dirty martinis but I’m a BIG fan of the pickle martini here. Their menu has some Asian influences from different places which I loved. The green curry Mac n cheese was mild but tasty, Chana masala was so good and flavorful, and Nam Sod if you love like a Thai lettuce wrap. We were happy to see the GF options! We had such a fun time with Ian who made it a memorable experience for us and our friends who were visiting from out of town. It may have been our favorite place to dine at during their stay. We will be back!

Awesome little spot on Folly. Interesting and diverse menu I took my family of 5 we all had different dishes and we all left so happy we chose to eat there for our first night on the island. Thank you to the kitchen, bar and service staff you all are doing a great job! Adding Jack of Cups to my list of re-visits every time i’m down here.

It was good but some of the menu was weirdly sold. I got what was called a corn dog but it was just keilbasa with corn kernels on it. The bun was huge for the meat. Good sauce though. Others had the chicken pea burger which was mushy and the butter chicken was missing chicken. Good flavors but needs some tweaking to get it better. The sauce for the pasta salad was good but it didn't seem cohesive.
M. R — Google review
The food was amazing. We sat outside and it was a neat spread out atmosphere. I would definitely eat this place again. Pickle soup was delicious.
Tonda ( — Google review
Another 10/10 experience. Started with the Pickle soup and the Okinomiyaki dip. The dip was our second favorite of the evening. Green curry mac, kimchi caesar, le blanc curry and meatballs were all great. Nothing was too spicy. The star of the show was definitely the brown butter cake with strawberries 🤤
Frances V — Google review
The food was exceptional, the menu changes seasonally so everything is fresh and delicious. Its plated very nicely and tastes amazing. Most of the menu is vegetarian or vegan which is awesome, but its so filling and creative that you barely notice there isnt any meat. I got the Coconut Ginger Curry. The only thing I would possibly change is the overhead harsh lighting, but thats totally not a problem!
Layla — Google review
Amazing food - appealing presentations, just the right amount of spicy kick to the curry, and satisfying flavors. The hot toddy was served at the perfect sipping temperature. The selections were unusual, making it difficult to choose just one dish. The staff was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. It was a nice mix of locals and new customers.

Some of the best food on folly in my opinion. the cheese steak is fire. The team there is always nice, so is the service. highly Recommend

Thought it would be a great dive bar...so excited for 10$ wing special and wanted to go to many other establishments, but thought we were getting a deal.. WRONG. HORRIBLE food and horrible service. Our wings were barely cooked after we asked the waitress for double cooked. Asked for extra sauce. Came with no sauce. Service so bad I literally could walk out and our waitress wouldn't even know. If i wasnt with a local i should have. lShe was so mad to even bring us water and we were the only people at the restaurant....maybe her dog got ran over today...but trust me. Ill never ever go back again. Bad bad bad

What a fun place! Cocktails were tasty and reasonable. The Pineapple Express was a hit with my sister who was celebrating her 21st birthday. We enjoyed Skye Paige’s performance! Loved ‘Hottest Girl in the Trailer Park’. The regulars were chill and friendly. We’ll definitely be back our next trip down.

We stumbled into Planet Follywood on what was a random Monday for us. We had to wait for some family to get onto the beach so we had a long couple hours ahead of us. Thankfully, Dottie was there to save the day. She was so sweet, best server ever, and showed us a good time. On top of this Angel serving us, trivia started!!!! We had no idea. I freaked out. We only tied for 3rd place but it was so much fun and I was so glad we ended up at Planet Follywood that night! We loved the food, drinks, and atmosphere!

Awesome little bar and restaurant with great breakfast options for cheaper prices on the folly island beach strip boardwalk. They have full bar and the.most draft beers on the strip. One of the only places I have seen with yuengling in folly and jukebox machine. Rooftop deck and local dive bar vibes make this place feel cozy and private. Ordered screwdriver for breakfast with eggs and had great service. Some sports tv to watch and chill.

Somehow weird place. The actually have one of the best non-seafood menus and great prices, but the restaurant part was almost empty during our whole visit while all other restaurants have been full. We still decided to give it a try, but the food was at max average. The 'famous' cowboy burger was absolutely tasteless and the coleslaw as well. The waitress has been very friendly and the wait time was also ok, but they definitely have to work on their food if they want to fill the restaurant and not only run the bar and karaoke.

Folly Beach, South Carolina —- “Planet Follywood” is THE “local’s” favorite pARTy Bar in Folly Beach. Interactive bartenders & interactive customers make you glad you stopped by for a pARTy Beverage or tasty-riffic menu items. You sit for a bit & you can learn all the local “who’s-who” & “what’s-what” on the island. In addition, you can avoid the tourist pricingnof most of the bars on Folly. Only 2 other bars are good local bars, but “Follywood” is the “Run-A-Way Bill” Favorite bar. “Run-A-Way Bill” was here! #RunAwayBill #DUSA2018 #Bars #BarsUSA #BAR_RAB #BarsRAB2018 #PlanetFollywood 05.09.18

Snapper Jacks is a popular spot known for its seafood, happy hours, and sports on TV. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes including seafood, raw oysters, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and sushi. It also provides event booking for occasions like beach wedding receptions and bachelorette parties. The oceanic-themed restaurant and rooftop bar offer strong drinks like the Snappers Colada and fishbowl drinks.
Absolutely wonderful place for lunch!!! We sat with our four kids on the patio and it was perfect. Waiter was fantastic and food was delicious. Great family friendly option with a huge stroller! Kids meals were really big and we shared lots of sushi. It was great.
Monica N — Google review
Was a bit worried about this place due to stories, and how I was treated when it was super busy one day and we didn’t get a table. I’m all about second chances. Hot summer day, grab a beer and bite at Snapper Jacks! The food was great, server was super nice and attentive even with large groups, and the place was packed. The Thai Chili sauce on the calamari was amazing, wings spot on, fish tacos 🌮 great.
Gregory M — Google review
I should have ordered sushi… I was definitely jealous of all of the sushi platters I saw cone out! I had the peel and eat shrimp, which was served warm. That surprised me, I was expecting cold for some reason. It was, however, delicious, in a butter sauce. I had a side dish of fries. They were standard fries. I really enjoyed watching the sunset on the rooftop bar. I also loved being able to see the ocean while I ate. Service was okay. Not over the top friendly, but not bad either. The ambiance, location, and setup is good. There is lots of seating downstairs inside and is a great family place.
Lexi H — Google review
Sitting on the rooftop patio has a limited menu, but if you enjoy sushi with a glimpse of the ocean, this is the place in Folly Beach. There was no draft beer on the roof, but choices for mixed drinks were really appropriate for a mini vacation. The smoked trout dip was fantastic, and the bucket of steamed oysters was a lot of fun. Sushi chef prepared and presented some great tasting sushi. If you want cooked seafood, I'd suggest the main floor instead. (And don't get the Oyster shooter unless you like tons of horseradish. )

Great service! The place has a very small menu but also a great selection. We tried the snapper sandwich and the big fish sandwich. Both were great and very well seasoned. It’s a really fun place for a quick bite and a drink. Wait times for lunch were not terrible. Food came out quick and the server was very attentive to us. Would come back for sure!

Even on a busy weekend, we didn't wait for service, nor did others that entered around the same time. Our lunch consisted of the fish sandwich, shrimp po' boy, and sushi. Everyone truly enjoyed the food. The fried fish was some of the best we've had in a long time, and we've eaten it around the world. Service was good, and attentive. Next time I want to visit the rooftop. There will be a next time.
Shawn E — Google review
The lobster roll and the fish tacos are legendary. I would come to Charleston simply for these two items. They have delicious fries as well. The service was good and the atmosphere was themed.
PR R — Google review
Fantastic chicken burger!!! Soft, juicy, perfectly cooked!! Decadent, perfect fries!!! 🥰 The sushi was a little sad, but I don't think there was a sushi chef, so it's not too surprising. If I want sushi, I'll just go to a sushi bar. I did get my soy-to-wasabi ratio perfect, so that was nice... overall... great service, friendly staff with Tanner and the humans, and there was really incredible food!!!

I know it was a busy summer night but the service was not great. The waitress only checked on us twice. The flies were horrible and the food was okay at best. There are better restaurants in Folly Beach to visit.
Len W — Google review
We had an awesome experience at The Washout in Folly Beach! From start to finish, everything hit the spot. The kids devoured their chicken strips, crispy, golden, and full of flavor, and the fries were perfectly seasoned. It’s always a win when the kids are happy, and they couldn’t stop talking about how good their meal was. I ordered the lobster roll, and it was packed with fresh, tender lobster meat on a soft, buttery roll. Every bite was loaded with flavor. But the real showstopper of the night was the she crab soup. Creamy, rich, and hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. If you visit, you absolutely have to try it! The whole vibe of The Washout is laid back and fun, with that perfect beach town energy. Great spot to catch a game, enjoy some local seafood, and soak up the atmosphere. The service was friendly, and even though they were busy, everything came out hot and fresh. If you’re spending time around Folly Beach, this is a must visit. Excellent food, family friendly environment, and a great place to relax with a cold drink while watching sports. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

Great atmosphere and the server was excellent. Shrimp tacos were just okay. The shrimp was good by itself but toppings were too much, over powering. Better suited for chicken tender tacos. It took away the freshness of the shrimp. Lighter, fresher accents would compliment it better. Sweet fries, best we've had and buffalo chicken wrap was very good. Well be back next visit!
Ann L — Google review
The waitress from Myrtle beach was great! She has the best energy. Drinks were okay, very watered down. Wings are amazing and the salad was sooooo fresh!! My lobster roll was pretty small for the price and no sauce. Great lobster though! The tables and chair outside are really cool and plus size friendly, lol.

The lobster roll is mouth watering good. Love the atmosphere and the reggae band they had a few Sundays ago was off the chain!
Sonya S — Google review
This is a place where people are barefoot at the bar. Its a beach bar that happens to have food more than a restaurant. There's typically a band playing, sometimes an art fair, and its a fun place to grab a beer and watch football. For food, we had the lobster roll, the calamari, the wings, and the shrimp tacos. The lobster roll was good, the calamari and the wings were marginal, and the shrimp tacos .... well, they put shredded cheese on them, which was unexpected, and its more of a regular taco setup with shrimp. The shrimp themselves were very good - good size and tasted fresh, but I just don't expect lettuce tomatoes and cheese on a shrimp taco. I had a margarita which was heavy on the sweet and sour - I would stick to beer going forward.
Leslie G — Google review
Fantastic! Seated right away but did take about 10 minutes for a server to come over. She was nice and kept the drinks filled promptly. Food came out about 5 minutes after ordering so that was awesome. Food was fresh and tasty. Shrimp tacos were great and grits were flavored well. Wings were a nice size. The atmosphere was great. Games and lots of decor to look at. Sitting outside was nice and they had plenty of fans and TVs. Folks said parking is hard to find but they do have a lot right behind the games that had plenty of room.

Irish pub
St. James Gate is a classic Irish tavern known for its wide selection of whiskeys and seafood entrees, as well as live music and a year-round garden patio. The atmosphere is fantastic, with friendly and knowledgeable bartenders who are not in a hurry to make suggestions even when busy. The menu offers delicious options like pot roast and bangers and mash, while the bar serves award-winning cocktails such as the Espresso Martini and Frozen Irish Coffee.
As someone who regularly cooks Shepard's pie, this was great. Had to try their famous frozen Irish coffee, then wasn't sure so I had two more. 😂. The rye on the Reuben was amazing! I love fried pickles and they were wedges, not chips so that was surprising. I highly recommend you try the tonic and blue gin. I even liked it it was that good.

Went here twice because their food is so good. First time we went they were running a limited menu and the second time they had their full menu. The waitresses were patient and attentive and friendly! Definitely will be coming back here everytime I visit Folly beach!

Amazing food and atmosphere. Prices are reasonable and friendly staff. I got the pot roast and it was awesome. My wife got the bangers and mash and she loved it. They open at 11 and close at 2 am. We went this weekend to Charleston for a day and a half. We had to go back to folly beach to visit this restaurant. It didn't disappoint. Awesome food and great service again. I just wished we lived closer!

I went here 3 days in a row and not because I'm an Irish alcoholic. Their food is top o' the line! I tried several things on the menu and everything was fantastic and unique. Even their drinks were well made, stronger than you think and their house concoctions were delightful. The Bloody Molly is a strong competitor for its sister Mary. The frozen Irish Coffee is sweet enough to make you think you're having dessert but strong enough to only have just one or end up staggering. Try both because you won't regret it. Unless you're a light weight, then you'll be staggering. The atmosphere is perfect, Irish feel with large open windows bringing on the salty ocean breeze, a nice enclosed patio and an upstairs which opens up at night into a pretty awesome dance club with a dj and a crazy light system. Epileptics beware! The staff was the best in town. The hostess was extremely sweet and inviting and all three servers we had were excellent and knew their menu amd drinks well. I will definitely be back!

Had a very good experience here. One of the better places I'm folly Beach. The food was pretty good, although it had lots of wheat products. I'd still was able to find enough good things for me to eat with digestion problems. However, I wouldn't recommend this if you have issues with your tummy Might not be a great place for you. The service was pretty good and the atmosphere is fantastic. Fairly slim pickings when it comes to food at folly Beach.

I've been to many Irish pubs throughout the US and Europe. As a new local, this was my first time stopping in for lunch. Everything was spot on! Fresh and cold beer. Buffalo chicken wraps have a nice kick and very flavorful. Incredibly filling! If you are stopping to eat, come hungry and be prepared to leave happy and full. I will be back, this is a new favorite spot on Folly!

What a grand Irish pub on the ‘Edge of America.’ A great pint of Guinness and delicious food. The staff members are congenial and appear happy to be there. And the bartenders do it it right. This is a great place for afternoon drinking!
