Folly Beach County Park is a true gem on the southwestern tip of Folly Beach, offering an expansive stretch of sandy paradise that beckons beach lovers from near and far. With over 3,500 feet of oceanfront bliss and additional access to the tranquil Folly River, this park provides ample space for sunbathing, picnicking, or simply soaking up the sun.
Gorgeous beach. Nice and clean. I didn't park at the $15 lot with the restrooms, playground, and restaurant. I just went down the same street and found a small free public lot between 2 beachfront houses. It had a boardwalk over the dunes to the beach. Definitely consider taking some shade, a cooler, a beach blanket/mat and sunscreen bc once you see and hear the waves crashing, taste the salt air, and get your feet in the ocean you won't want to leave.

I fished off the Folly Beach pier and had an absolute blast! It's beautiful. For $4 you can't go wrong. They have a nice bar outside just before you enter the pier as well as a nice restaurant just in front of the bar which you can dine inside or out. There's a well stocked tackle shop where you can rent a rod. Impressive please which I will definitely frequent again and again!

We went to Folly beach for a day trip on a Friday. The entrance fee is per car $15 M-F and $25 on the weekends during the summer. We arrived after 11 am and there were only a couple of parking spots left. So make sure to come in early. They have plenty of changing rooms and a rinse off station. The proximity to the beach from the parking is very close. There were lifeguards at the beach which is very nice. If you want less crowded space you would need to walk further away but then you are swimming on your own risk. There were a couple of turtle nests down the beach, they were fenced off and had a sign saying that they should not be disturbed. We also saw a dolphin playing in the waves which made my day!

It was a very beautiful day, I had an amazing walk on the beach. The water was warm. A bit contaminated with used band-aids. Only to return to my vehicle and see a $60 ticket on my window🤬😮‍💨 okay cool! Don't think I'll be back!
M.R. W — Google review
Beautiful beach, not crowded and has something for everyone....shallow enough to go far to catch waves for boogie boarding but gentle enough at the shore for kids and long and wide sandbar to walk on. See the pretty wishing tree
Carolyn S — Google review
Comparing folly to Destin beaches it’s not as good, but we had an overall good time at the beach they had concession stands with pretty good milkshakes, and a really good cinnamon pretzel. the beach is clean no trash laying around and have a spray off area and parking was $15 which was a pretty good deal. The view was nice and wasn’t too crowded on the beach. overall it was good and I would go back
Michael M — Google review
My husband officiated a wedding held on the beach with the reception in the pavilion and it was so gorgeous. I don't know the details on chair rentals or anything but I do know it was a perfect location for an intimate beach wedding! 🩷 Bonus- it was hot so several families ended up going swimming and enjoying the beach afterwards!
Julie T — Google review
We were staying in North Charleston, so didn’t have a place on the beach. This place offered the facilities and the beach access we needed for a great day at the beach!!

Fishing pier
Park
Public beach
Folly Beach Pier is a bustling 1,045-ft. fishing pier featuring a tackle shop and offering scenic ocean views. The adjacent Folly Beach County Park is a popular destination in Charleston County, boasting 3,500' of ocean-facing beaches and 200' of soundside shoreline along the Folley River. While it can get crowded on summer weekends, the park provides ample beaches, picnic areas, restrooms, changing stations, and seasonal concession stands and beach gear rentals.
First time visiting and found the beach and Pier to be clean and in beautiful condition. Although I don't fish, the Pier is set up nicely for fishing (pole holders, cleaning tables etc). Wonderful views from the Pier and beach. The people in the area were very friendly. Plenty of hotel/ABNB type rooms, restaurants and other shops for your enjoyment. Downtown Charleston is just a short ride away. True beach town, If you're in the area definitely check it out.
Vin B — Google review
Get there early like 9am for a good parking spot $15 all day not bad. Super convenient to the beach. Really hot so used the pier for some great shade underneath, nice breeze, just a delightful time. Constant waves are really fun and lifeguards are active and on point keeping people safe. Up on the pier the restaurant is delicious and air conditioned with ice cold drinks. Great day!
Michelle A — Google review
Legendary pier. Will always be legendary. The food and bar is trash but the gift shop has some interesting stuff to look at. There's fishing tables with hoses, plenty of coverage from the sun, lunch tables at the end of the pier, occasionally a few dolphins can be sighted at the end of the pier. Recently the military has been flying cargo planes and choppers at the edge of the beach so you might get a good show. Lots of beautiful sights, if the sky is clear at night you might even see the star link satellite fly by which was a pretty insane experience. Be kind to the birds and they won't bother you. Also at night the roaches come out so stay away from the trash cans.

Quiet the day we came. Only a few people out. Beach was clean and no problems. The have an area to wash down, change your clothes, clean restrooms, nice sitting spots close as well. Good for a family as well.
Shanda B — Google review
My friend and I were there enjoying the scenery, ambience, etc. Our happy place is near water and she's healing from an accident. Neither of us had been to the beach recently, so I planned a beach day for us. It was a great day.

Folly beach is a Lovely beach definitely recommend. Not too crowded and have great sunset and sunrise If you are lucky you can see dolphins and sharks 🦈🐬

The quality of facilities and access is both surprising and good. I imagine that it might get crowded some days, but we were able to enjoy it nicely!

This is a great beer. It has benches where you can sit and they even allow fishing. It’s away for you to enjoy the beach and the breeze without having to actually get in the sand.

Restaurant
Lost Dog Cafe is a charming spot that offers a delightful mix of all-day breakfast, coffee, sandwiches, salads, and wraps. The cafe's fun dog-themed decor adds to its cozy and family-friendly atmosphere. Whether you're in the mood for fresh-baked muffins and bagels or signature cinnamon rolls, Lost Dog Cafe has got you covered. Additionally, their lunch menu features kid-friendly options like quesadillas and hot dogs.
On a recent trip we had a late breakfast outside and it was a very positive experience! Our server was pretty efficient and even when it started getting bus she would have another runner/sever refill our drinks. Our food came out fast, fresh hot, and was all very delicious! My wife had the eggs Benedict, but got the fried tomatoes on the side - she loved it! We shared some things based off of reviews, the cinnamon roll is in fact incredible and the sausage gravy biscuit is super savory and flavorful! I had eggs, sausage, and grits that were excellent. Overall there was nothing we didn’t enjoy! The outside seating area got a little tight by the time we left, but it was adequate. To those about to nosh, I salute you!!
Patrick S — Google review
We stopped by on a rainy morning for breakfast. We got a mix of hot and iced chai and coffee. Please see the cute hot chia design. I had the international eggs Benedict with fried green tomatoes. It was a tasty combo. Friends enjoyed shrimp and grits, an omelet and a bagel. We enjoyed the vibe of the place. My friend that is gluten free enjoyed the omelet and just gave away her toast.
Chris L — Google review
C-rolls to start your day with a blast of sweetness can’t be beat! The French Toast was great, as was the over-easy eggs with hardy toast and crisp bacon! For a mid-week (Tuesday) morning almost a zero wait for a party of 6 adults and 3 kids! The OJ was plenty, but a little thin! We will be back again next year!
Don M — Google review
We loved our breakfast at Lost Dog Café in Folly Beach! I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of cheesy grits — both were absolutely delicious and comforting. The kids got the happy pancakes, which were a huge hit and so fun with the fruit face design. My wife had the traditional breakfast, and everything came out hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The cozy, laid-back atmosphere and friendly staff made it such an enjoyable start to the day. Definitely a must-visit breakfast spot when you’re in Folly Beach!
Travis G — Google review
Great place for breakfast in the Folly Beach area. Very walkable. If you don’t want to wait get here early. We got here a little after 9 and the inside was completely full so we sat outside on the deck which was nice! When we were on our way out there was a line out the door and numerous parties waiting. I ordered a coffee and the breakfast burrito. Both were delicious. I felt that the prices were reasonable but you’ll see on the menu they up charge for just about everything ($2 to split the plate, fee for bagging items to go, adding protein, etc). I felt the portion sizes were good and left full. Would recommend for grabbing breakfast. Love the decor with all of the dogs on the walls.
Alex P — Google review
We had an incredible experience at Lost Dog Cafe! From the moment we walked in—despite arriving close to closing time—the entire staff made us feel completely welcome. The atmosphere was cozy and charming, with a laid-back vibe that perfectly complements the menu. Our group ordered a mix of breakfast and lunch favorites, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The real standout, though, was our waiter, Reid. His service was truly exceptional—friendly, attentive, and made us feel like valued guests from start to finish. If you’re looking for a local cafe with great food, amazing service, and a warm, welcoming environment, Lost Dog Cafe should be at the top of your list. We’ll definitely be back!!!
Matthew W — Google review
Had to wait about 50 minutes for a table (for breakfast!), but food was touted as “The best in Folly Beach”, so we willing to wait (although they estimated 30 minutes). We started with a cinnamon roll (warm) which was yummy. Before we were halfway done with that, our breakfast was served. My partner enjoyed her meal, but my Eggs Benedict was served cold, which was especially disconcerting as it was served extremely quickly (How does THAT happen?!?). Hundreds of dog photos are everywhere to soften your heart, even if the food falls short.
Scott P — Google review
Lost Dog Cafe is the perfect breakfast spot in folly! We both got breakfast sandwiches & fresh fruit. Everything was quick to come out & was super fresh! Perfect for anyone looking for a wide range of menu items before hitting the beach! There is usually a wait time but it does go by quick. You can order drinks at the counter while you wait for your table which is awesome aswell.

Morris Island Lighthouse is a striking red-and-white lighthouse located off the coast, originally rebuilt in the 19th century. Accessible by boat, it offers a picturesque view from Folly Island's northern tip. Visitors can drive most of the way and take a short sandy hike to reach a beautiful hidden beach with easy viewing of the lighthouse. The beach provides an ideal spot to witness stunning sunsets over the marsh, with the lighthouse as a central feature.
Morris Island Lighthouse is absolutely beautiful. The graffiti walkway is interesting. The beach is unique with rocks and driftwood/trees. It was very peaceful. Parking isn't easy as there is no designated parking lot. You have to park along the road. It was pretty busy when I was there.
Kelly L — Google review
I wanted to see the lighthouse at sunrise, because of traffic missed it by a few minutes but still a beautiful location, especially at a low tide because of dead trees and driftwood. From parking to the light house it's probably a 10-15 minute walk with the last 5 minutes on soft sand which may make it hard for some people. Well worth the walk and time spent.
Dave D — Google review
Took a dolphin sunset cruise that stopped at Morris island. This was a great trip. The lighthouse is on its own island due to storms. There is a shipwreck and more seashells than you can imagine. Flipper finders @ Folly beach was wonderful and our Captain was extremely knowledgeable and made it a fun trip.
Beth T — Google review
Gorgeous place!!! Loved that it was a sorry walk to the light house and was pleasantly surprised at the beach area!!! It's a beauty!!!
Courtney A — Google review
It’s a bit of a walk to get there, but there are so many shells on the beach!! And the street is completely covered in graffiti which was really cool to see!
Hannah B — Google review
It is way off the beaten path and does require a 1/2 mile walk to view clearly. It is on an island so you cannot get close. Parking is down the road and just wasn't feasible for someone with a wheelchair or walker. I was able to get a picture across the marsh.
Candice ( — Google review
Download the app to pay your admission fee; it’s a great rate ($1/person per day) (see images in this review for those details). Some free parking out front is available; but extremely limited. There is a paid parking lot nearby that was about $10.50 for the day (ending ~10p) with cheaper options for select hourly ranges (text DRY to 87517 for the link for the Summer Place parking lot). It’s a bit of a walk, but not terrible by any means; I can see it being exhausting on a scorching hot day with the sea-salted humidity though. The whole pathway is asphalt with graffiti all over, which keeps the walk interesting. No motorized vehicles allowed; but cyclists went up and down easily as its flat-land. Only hill is at the end of cross the dunes (sandy hill, no wooden bridge). We’ve been plenty of times and it’s enjoyable each time.
Zelle D — Google review
A half mile walk to see a small lighthouse out in the water. Posted signs warn of a strong current. Not much to see unless you just want some exercise. Most of the pavement has an enormous amount of graffiti painted on it. Parking is limited to road side and a small pay lot. The area at Folly Beach offers restaurants and shops. We enjoyed breakfast at Rita’s

Chico Feo is a popular and lively outdoor cafe located on Folly Beach, known for its diverse menu offerings and festive atmosphere. The funky surf shack vibe attracts both locals and visitors, offering a unique dining experience with live music. One of the standout dishes is the Wu-Tang ramen bowl, featuring a distinctive smoked pork broth and caramelized pork belly. While the ordering process may be slightly confusing, patrons rave about the next-level tacos and appreciate the late-night hours.
We've been coming here for years because it's great. Unassuming beach bar with tons of character. Outdoor seating year around under big oak trees and Spanish moss. Very casual, first come, first serve. Variety of beers and drinks with a daily limited menu that is culinary excellence. Never had anything that wasn't excellent. Everyone is friendly, live music, and super dog friendly. Not to be missed, the local hang out bar of Folly.
Vida V — Google review
This is the kind of place you could spend all day at! The food was delicious, the drinks were fantastic, and the atmosphere was unbeatable. It was great to see people of all ages enjoying themselves, and we happened to be there during open mic night—which made the experience even more special. Truly a spot that has it all!
Bre A — Google review
Found this place in a search for street tacos and it was well worth the trip. Parking 🅿️ is a pain to find, so drop off your party and tell them to order you the pork tacos. It will take a few minutes to park and walk back. This place has a very beachy vibe. They do allow dogs and have a water station. You have to order at the bar, but they bring out the food.
Jeff V — Google review
If you want to relax and truly feel the ‘vacation vibe,’ visit Chico Feo! Staff were efficient and friendly, food was great and the drinks were cold! The live music was also a great plus! The sesame noodle special and street tacos were excellent! There is bar seating as well as several tables of varying sizes for groups/families. Chico Feo is located within walking distance to the beach as well as other local shops, yet is surrounded by trees and feels secluded. We absolutely loved Chico Feo and wished we could have visited more than once!
Macy H — Google review
The atmosphere is great, especially if the weather is nice because they have outdoor seating only. the food is also unique. but if you're not a fan of spicier foods, it may not be the place for you.
Ron B — Google review
My husband and I had the best pork tacos there. There was this seltzer drink from Revelry brewery, with fruit that was amazing. I would love the recipe to that drink. I have been trying to duplicate it but I can't. Delicious!
Lisa N — Google review
First time visiting the area and stopped in here based off the great reviews. This place did not disappoint. The mahi tacos are truly authentic fresh ingredients street style tacos to die for. The service and vibe is a real Folly beach gem. And the live Music! Great relaxing island jams. I look forward to the day I get to come back here

Rita's Seaside Grille is a popular spot located at the end of Center Street, offering a diverse menu that includes American favorites such as burgers, seafood, and southern classics like peel-and-eat shrimp and barbecue. This casual eatery is known for its weekend brunch featuring breakfast items like nachos with eggs, sausage, queso, Jack cheese, peppers and onions layered with corn tortilla chips. In addition to their breakfast offerings, Rita's also serves up delicious lunch and dinner options.
5 Stars – A Must-Visit Spot in Folly Beach! Rita’s Seaside Grill is a total vibe right by the pier in Folly Beach! 🌊🌴 No reservations needed, which made it super easy to drop in and grab a table. Prices aren’t the cheapest, but trust me—the food is worth every bite 🍽️. This spot is actually a sister restaurant to the famous Halls Chophouse 🥩, so the quality and presentation were top-tier. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated! The atmosphere was awesome—live music playing, outdoor seating, and it’s even pet-friendly! 🎶☀️🐾 Our pup was more than welcome. Service was fast and super friendly 👏. We felt right at home. We’ll definitely be back to enjoy another unforgettable meal at Rita’s! 🔥🍤🍹

Wonderful dinner here at Rita’s on a Friday night. About a 15 minute wait but it’s right next to the beach so just walk around to pass the time! The service was perfect, very attentive! The food was fantastic! Everyone loved theirs and they are presented with care. I loved the unique menu options and prices were fair too! Live music was the cherry on top to make a great atmosphere. This was on my list of places to try and it did not disappoint!

Loved Rita’s!! The staff was super friendly and our server was top-notch - so kind and patient and helpful. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed the laid back but lively atmosphere. Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone visiting Folly Beach

Rita’s Seaside Grille was fantastic! The shrimp po’ boy was packed with flavor — perfectly seasoned shrimp, fresh lettuce and tomato, and that sauce was amazing. The curly fries were crispy and addictive, and the cheesy grits on the side were creamy and delicious! The laid-back beach vibe, friendly service, and ocean breeze made it the perfect lunch spot on Folly Beach. Definitely a must-try when you’re here!
Travis G — Google review
The Shrimp & Grits here are amazing!!! I came to Charleston excited to eat Shrimp & Grits among other dishes. Tried them at a couple places in the downtown/quarter area at restaurants said to have the best (& that were also very expensive) and tbh they were so bad I couldn’t even finish them… I was so upset that the one thing I was super excited to eat kept being a let down. But I came to Rita’s for breakfast the day I was leaving and wow!! This is what shrimp and grits are supposed to be like. I gobbled it up. Great atmosphere, dog friendly patio, and attentive service plus it’s far more reasonably priced than downtown. Come here you won’t regret it!

My family and I just went this Labor Day. I was super impressed with the staffing and the food. We went in with a party of 11. Kind of a jerk move on a busy Labor Day Sunday. The hostess laughed with me about how big the party was, but immediately set to work finding a solution. It involved splitting the party, which we were fine with. It was busy, as you’d expect, so we were totally willing to make that adjustment. When we ordered food, everyone got theirs except for me. The waiter entered it in wrong. He quickly let me know what happened, and went to make sure it was coming out. I ordered another beer, which he brought out quickly and then a manager brought me some chips to eat while I waited. When my dinner (shrimp tacos) arrived, they were super delicious. I was so pleasantly surprised. The food was really good, but the staffing was top notch. I was walking by the restaurant the following morning (on the way back from the sunrise at the beach) and the same manager was already there setting up for the day. When he saw me he apologize again for the delay and thanked me for having a good attitude about waiting. Seriously top notch service the whole way through.

Great food, even more amazing service. Very family friendly, we went the day before Halloween and were handed trick or treat bags for all the kids. Can't say enough about the staff ❤️

I spent the weekend at Folly Beach and this was by and far the best place I ate! The atmosphere was fantastic - an open floor plan with lots of tables but no crowded feeling. Bay doors that brought in the ocean breeze. The music was a whole vibe. Our sever was excellent. Attentive but not overly so. Considerate and easy to gain his attention. And the food. My lord! Giant portions. Gorgeous presentation. Delicious. Simply delicious! We had Bloody Mary's and a salad app - beautiful and tasty! I ordered the classic Rita breakfast. My friends ordered the special. We did not finish our food. Absolutely do not miss Rita's if you are around Folly!

Deli
Bert's Market, located on Ashley Avenue, is a vital establishment on Folly Beach. This 24-hour grocery store offers a wide range of essential items, beer, wine, and even features a deli and grille serving classic dishes like sandwiches, wraps, salads, burgers, and fries. It's not just a place to stock up on supplies; it's an integral part of the Folly Beach experience with its unique character.
Bert’s is a must stop shop on your Folly Beach trip! We are vacationing and stumbled into this crowed place this morning for breakfast. The crowd and traffic jam out front drew us in and we are so happy it did! Even with three kids in tow, well worth the wait for their amazing breakfast! We got the breakfast burrito, loaded bagel sandwich (amazing on the jalapeno and cheddar bagel) and a regular bagel with cream cheese. My husband was eager to try their Buffalo chicken wrap too, so we added that on along with a homemade blueberry muffin! Not only a deli serving up fresh meals, but also a convenience store that offers alcohol, sodas, ice cream, souvenirs and trinkets! We saw fresh fruit and eggs and toiletries too! Bert’s has it all and their slogan is the best - “May doze but we never close”. We will be back!
Jacqueline W — Google review
Bert's was such a blessing. If you forgot something for vacation chances are that they have it in house. The coffee is free, donations accepted. They offer freshly made breakfast sandwiches, numerous wraps and lunch offerings from BBQ to spicy chicken sandwiches to chili dogs. Fresh baked goods, cheesecakes and many different flavors of ice cream. It allowed for a more than adequate lunch and allowed our family additional time to spend on the beach, explore the island and just lounge around on benches and listen to live music. The staff was friendly and welcoming no matter how many times you stopped in or what time day or night. When you come to Folly beach you must stop by this little store at some point on your adventures! As Always, Enjoy!

Fun place. I was there with a friend during our beach day. They had a lot of interesting things there. I even saw a nice pair of drumsticks from Vic firth that I almost bought. The food is really good too.

Bert’s Market is an absolute gem in Folly Beach! Whether you need a quick snack, a late-night burger, or a cold drink after the beach, this place has it all — and it’s open 24/7! The vibes are fun and laid-back with tons of local character and stickers covering every surface. Staff is super friendly, food hits the spot (the subs and fries are awesome), and you can even grab beer or wine while you’re there. Folly Beach wouldn’t be the same without Bert’s!

Chillest shop around. If you want a laid-back vibe, w the feeling of a friendly place to go, look no further. Reminds me of stores when I used to skate everywhere. 👌Also, the BREAKFAST BURRITOS......try them or you'll regret not trying them.

Fun little market on the island. A little pricey but what do you expect with it being the only store on the island? They pretty much have everything you need from ice cream to burgers and pizza, breakfast!! Open 24hrs a day too! Fun place to go too! My teenagers love this place!

Perfect market for this friendly laidback beach! Bert’s has everything you need. Food, groceries, toiletries, household items, beer, wine, and more! You cannot visit Folly Beach without stopping here. We had breakfast from here most days during our stay. Staff is super friendly. Service is fast. Food is good. This establishment is truly a wonderful part of this community and it shows. Bert’s is open 24/7….perfect if you suddenly need something any time of day!

Taco Boy Folly Beach is a vibrant and funky spot offering innovative taco fillings and frozen cocktails. The restaurant features outdoor seating and a rooftop fiesta with ocean views, making it an ideal place to enjoy margaritas and tropical drinks by the beach. Located on East Ashley Avenue, this three-story establishment boasts multiple dining rooms and bars, including a rooftop bar with breathtaking ocean views.
We stopped in for lunch at Taco Boy today after a beach baptism and I'm so glad we did! We have been to this Taco Boy a few times in the past and always enjoy it. We got seated right away and the server came to the table immediately with water for everyone. We were able to order our food pretty quickly and we had food on the table in a very timely manner. Our server was very attentive and checked on us frequently. All of the food was delicious and fresh! We will usually bring food home when we go out to eat but everything was so good we didn't have anything left over! I highly recommend Taco Boy if you are hanging on Folly for a day and have a craving for some yummy food! Shout out to our server, Oliver! Thank you Oliver for an amazing experience!

Love that this place is close tot he beach. They have multiple bars. Rooftop was closed during the day on a Friday but sat at the bar instead. The bartender was great and conversational. The chips and guac were just average, as well as the margaritas. The tacos were delicious. I tried a crispy avocado and firecracker shrimp taco which were both delicious. I would definitely come back for a quick bite off the beach but would likely just stick to tacos.

We stopped by Taco Boy in Folly Beach and had such a fun experience! The atmosphere is bright, funky, and full of energy. the huge octopus on the ceiling and colorful decor make it such a cool place to eat. The tacos were packed with flavor, and the chips and trio of salsas were awesome. It’s family-friendly too . our kids loved hanging out in the big “Amigos” chair out front. Definitely a must-visit spot for tacos and good vibes when you’re in Folly Beach!

The smells drew us in after a couple of hours on Folly Beach. The tacos were amazing! We tried both the Chicken, Bacon, Ranch and the Carne Asada as well as the cheeseburger quesadilla. So flavorful and filling. We sat in the bar area with a nice breeze coming in. Our server was also very sweet. Thank you!

Taco Boy is so good we went two nights out of our 5 day trip to Folly Beach! Great margs and tacos. The Baja Tacos is delicious. The food and service is great! I would recommend coming here :)

We had a great dinner. Grace did a fantastic job. She relocated us. after it started raining. We were a large group and we were put upstairs. Her section was downstairs but she didn't miss a beat! Thanks to everyone for a great time!

Fun place to grab tacos with friends. Server was friendly and nice. Just a few things-it was my friend’s birthday and they sent out an order of churros-we sent them back, as we did not order them, and then the waiter came over to tell us that the churros were for her birthday, which was a nice gesture. However, we then got charged for said churros, even though we didn’t order them in the first place. When we were brought the check, a 20% gratuity had been added, even though on Taco Boy’s website, it says that gratuity was automatically added for parties of 8 (we were a party of 6). A few inconsistencies, but overall food was decent.

This is a great atmosphere, close to the beach and my margarita was great!! However, the food was just not up to par. I LOVE Mexican food and have had tacos all over the place. This joint did not make the mark on tacos. I was disappointed! Our server was super nice and attentive to our needs. It’s definitely a cool spot to go, just manage your expectations and understand that it’s more of a cool place to go rather than an excellent spot to eat!

The Atmosphere: Very cool place in Folly beach with an awesome beach restaurant vibe. The food: I ordered the Blackened Flounder Tacos and they were just ok. Kind of bland tasting. I mostly tasted shredded cabbage. My wife had the Caesar Chicken wrap and I tasted it and it was delicious. Everyone else in our party liked their food. I will definitely come back but try something different next time. The burgers looked amazing so I would try that next. Service: We had a group of 9 ppl. We sat at two booths and my booth ordered first. The party with us got their food about 20 minutes before we did. They were done eating before we got our food. It was a busy night in March, so I understand being busy. I feel they should have brought all our food out together. Final Thoughts: All in all I would definitely still give them a second try. It wasn’t a bad experience but maybe just an off night. This place came highly recommended so I’m sure it was just an off night.

Visiting Folly, so had to check out loggerhead’s again - our go-to place for beers on the rooftop terrace and some food. The servers were friendly and greeted us on arrival and let us choose where to sit. There was live music on the terrace which was pretty good and not so loud. The food was a little slow to arrive but when it did it was tasty and well-presented. I had flounder sandwich and waffle fries and my partner had Philly Cheese Steak with onion rings. The fried sides were lovely and crispy (nobody likes pale and soggy sides!). My flounder sandwich was fantastic too, my partner’s PCS was good but not amazing (more like a sloppy Joe than a PCS). They had our favourite beer - Miller Highlife - but only in cans (we prefer bottles or tap). So very nearly a full five score from us with just minor details taking the edge off. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon.
Donnalou X — Google review
Great spot to go on a Friday night! It had live music outside on the deck, which made for a good time. They are also very pro-dog, as we were able to have our dog out on the deck with us while we ate! The staff loved her and there was even a water bowl set out for her. This place was really good, but the prices were a tad bit high. However, we will still be coming back! The broccoli was great! And I also recommend the Buffalo Chicken Philly. This is a lively atmosphere with a bar, good music, good food, and kind staff. I only wish the menu had slightly more options, and wish parking was easier. Other than these things, it was a great experience!
Logan S — Google review
I had the one and only steak option on the menu. It was cooked (rare) to perfection! Great atmosphere and great service! They had live music on the patio, which is where we chose to sit, but the gf and I were still able to hold a conversation with each other albeit with higher volumes of voice lol.

Great environment. From the Philadelphia area and truly felt at home here. Food was phenomenal (yes, even the hoagie and cheesesteak). Definitely recommend for an Eagles game or just for a few beers with the locals.
Alyson G — Google review
I love that you can eat outside! I can’t remember our waitress name but she was really good. I believe she said she was from Kansas City. I loved that they have the Irish coffe recipe from the old Irish pub. This was the best thing I had . My mother in law said the flatbread was really good. The fried oysters were ok but nothing to write home about! I will definitely be back but get rid of that Eagles stuff! Go cowboys! lol
Brad B — Google review
Great little coastal restaurants. Some menu items looked a bit small for the price until we tasted them. The quality truly made up for the quantity. Quite surprised it was slow so close to the holiday weekend. Possibly the fact they are much farther down the beach than the other restaurants may be, but should not be, the reason. Definitely worth the few extra blocks. It ended up being the best meal and best atmosphere (including not too loud live music) on the island.

Rather good; usually go with the kids in the evening instead of getting sandy at the beach. Restrooms are usually locked by the time we get there, around 6ish. The back of the playground is slightly overgrown with vines but doesn't encroach too much on the swings there. The swings for adults at the front are good, but not in the shade in the evenings. Great place regardless!

Fort Sumter National Monument, located in Charleston Harbor, is a significant historical site that played a pivotal role in the American Civil War. Accessible by boat, visitors can explore the ruins, gun emplacements, and a museum while learning about its place in American history. The fort saw the first shots of the Civil War when Confederate forces attacked it in 1861. Managed by the National Park Service, this nearly 200-year-old fort offers breathtaking views of downtown Charleston and the surrounding harbor.
Greatly enjoyed the ferry ride to and from the island, and of couse exploringthe island itself. It is a bit pricy but one has to take the ferry and historic site maintenance into account. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and had a sense of humor. Lots of cool history to see on the island itself,as well as seabirds and some cargo shipping going by. Some thought provoking exhibits in the visitor center as well. A nice, informative, relaxing excursion all round.
Emily B — Google review
Our national park ranger was amazing. We were there for the taking down of the flag, which was a cool thing to see, especially with a flag the size of the storm flag on the fort. The ferry ride was nice too. Plenty of places to sit in the shade and still see all around.
Brandy B — Google review
Well worth it. The guides were very passionate about history and getting out on the water to see the fort and surrounding islands was super cool! Price was right. We also saw dolphins on our journey. There is no bathroom on the fort so make sure you use it while on the ferry. Also a museum and gift shop.
Kristen G — Google review
I recommend calling ahead to make sure there is no school group booked when you are planning to go because they may be very loud and unruly (at least it was in my experience). Also, the ranger cannot give the regular tour speech and you will end up missing some interesting facts.
Manuela B — Google review
We visited this place by ferry and the volunteer was very nice and informative. They explained very well the history of the fort. In the fort you have old Canon and ammunition to see and also some unexploded bombs stuck in the walls (still there) of the fort. Once you are there, you can feel the emotions and spirit of the braves. Highly recommend

Awesome place to visit when you are in Charleston area. Rice history and great collection of stories, war artifacts in the museum. Scenic ferry ride and great view from the Fort.
Suhas D — Google review
Fort Sumter was a great experience and would recommend to anyone interested in American History. Remember to book your ferry tickets in advance, I chose the ferry that left from Liberty Square since it had move available time slots. If you take the first ferry of the day you get to experience the flag raising ceremony at the Fort itself which was cool. When on the ferry to the Fort, if the day is nice I would recommend sitting on the upper deck it has the better views of the harbor.
Jon M — Google review
We had a great time at Fort Sumter and on the ferry ride to and from the fort! The ferry ride is about 30 minutes each way and you get to spend an hour at the fort. The fort has a museum and a small gift shop. The park rangers are very knowledgeable and friendly. They will answer questions you may have and they ask you questions sometimes.

Last while in South Carolina, visiting my son, we went to what he called Battery Park. It was a really nice breeze off the the day I think you call it. This place was a gem.... Not very much to do here, but if you appreciate Confederate history, you'll have fun here and enjoy the monuments, and if you're a whiny liberal snowflake, I recommend you stay away from here... The Confederate monuments might hurt your sissy feelings.... On a serious note, there is a lot of rich history here and it is amazing to know this city still has an endearment attitude towards the confederacy.... Beautiful!!!!

To was the first time at this establishment in Foley Beach. My wife and I decided to give this establishment a chance. The drinks were just okay, the grilled seafood was very salty, wife had the crab legs and shrimp which was price kind of high, the season was just okay, nothing to brag about, that my opinion. I've been around the city and country and have had better. Your bill will be high. If I'm going to spend that much money, I want to be able to brag about the establishment and its service . The establishment is old and needs lots of updates in dining areas and other areas . This would be the last time visiting this establishment. Good luck with your experience .

This place has the BEST crab legs in Folly Beach, hands down! 🦀 I highly recommend the Snow Crab Bucket—absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. Every bite was perfection. Honestly, I wish I had ordered more legs to take on the road with me! 😄 If you’re a seafood lover, this spot is a must-try

The crispy fish sandwich and french fries were tasty and reasonably priced, especially considering the size. The blue crab bucket was also a hit. It came with potatoes and corn on the cob. Service got a little slow at the end because they were a little busy but overall service was good. Atmosphere was casual.

We had an awesome seafood experience at The Crab Shack! The snow crab legs were perfectly seasoned and piled high — sweet, meaty, and cooked just right. The oysters were fresh and flavorful, and the drawn butter and saltines made it the perfect Southern-style feast. You can’t beat the relaxed beach vibe, friendly service, and great portions for the price. If you’re in Folly Beach and craving seafood, this is the spot!

This was a great place to get out of the sun from a day at the beach. Cold beers, fans and fried shrimp - a killer mix. Not a ton of parking on a beach day but some live music and watching folks come to and from the beach was a great afternoon. The crab dip and fried shrimp were awesome. Would definitely recommend that

I recently ate here and it was wonderful ! I had an appetizer of crab and artichoke dip and an entree of crab stuffed flounder. Both were wonderful !!!! My server Kristen was the BEST too ! The only drawback was that they don’t serve coffee. Their homemade key lime pie was great, but would have been even better matched with some coffee. Come on folks, you are missing some money there. Even just a Keurig for those occasional customers like me craving some coffee with your desserts would be logical. I highly recommend this restaurant if visiting Folly Beach !

I ordered the shrimp tacos and fried flounder — both were delicious. The frozen margarita was tasty and refreshing, although it didn’t have much of an alcohol kick. We sat out on the patio, which had a nice view and a relaxing vibe. The biggest issue was the service. The food takes a bit long so when we asked our server about it, she replied that it had only been ten minutes — with an unfriendly expression. She never came by to check on us during the meal, we have to ask for water and silverware. Also, she also forgot our soup. Everything else was lovely, but the service experience could’ve been much better.

5 Stars! The Pier at Folly Beach absolutely delivered! The food was top notch — fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. The staff was incredibly friendly and on point the entire time, making the experience even better. And you just can’t beat that view — absolutely stunning! Prices were reasonable too, which was a nice surprise. We would (and definitely will) be back again. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Folly Beach!

The atmosphere is hard to beat. The food is what you’d expect from a bar. Fish tacos were good but you won’t mistake it for a gourmet seafood restaurant. The service was OK just seemed like they had a lot of tables per server so they were stretched then. It’s a great place to watch the beach while you eat, even though you may have to fight off a few birds as you’re trying to eat your French fries. If you are busy, the beach near the pier I’ll recommend you eat here out of convenience.

Certainly a great place to sit down ocean front after spending a few hours on the water and enjoy the sound of waves. Service is very prompt, we were quickly seated, promptly and politely attended to, even promptly got us replacement food when they got one of dishes we ordered wrong. Food is not good at all. Very very oily, salty and pretty bland. I don't think the shrimp and fish are fresh, they taste like what you get in Walmart. See the pictures, the brussel sprouts are soaking in oil. Even the local canned beer is bad, no draft. Certainly does not have good selection of vegeterian options , understood being a seafood place. My family suggested to give 1 star, I am giving 3 because of the location and the service.

Food was fabulous! We had chicken fingers, turkey club wrap, French fries, and Pier salad add chicken. I do not know how they season that chicken breast, but it was sooo good! Definitely had cilantro and maybe lemon and pepper. The strawberry margarita was okay. Could have used a bit more strawberry puree. There was also live entertainment. He had not started singing before we left, but the seagull was a great opening act.

This place is a hidden gem and deserves more notoriety! Don’t judge by how it looks on the outside because it is awesome and has so much character. We got sat in the outdoor space where it makes you feel like you’re hanging out at a friend’s backyard. Ian was our server who also does all the beverage so he was able to give us very thorough details and recommendations. I had to get the pickle martini, I mean come on do you love pickles or pickle juice? I don’t like dirty martinis but I’m a BIG fan of the pickle martini here. Their menu has some Asian influences from different places which I loved. The green curry Mac n cheese was mild but tasty, Chana masala was so good and flavorful, and Nam Sod if you love like a Thai lettuce wrap. We were happy to see the GF options! We had such a fun time with Ian who made it a memorable experience for us and our friends who were visiting from out of town. It may have been our favorite place to dine at during their stay. We will be back!

Awesome little spot on Folly. Interesting and diverse menu I took my family of 5 we all had different dishes and we all left so happy we chose to eat there for our first night on the island. Thank you to the kitchen, bar and service staff you all are doing a great job! Adding Jack of Cups to my list of re-visits every time i’m down here.

It was good but some of the menu was weirdly sold. I got what was called a corn dog but it was just keilbasa with corn kernels on it. The bun was huge for the meat. Good sauce though. Others had the chicken pea burger which was mushy and the butter chicken was missing chicken. Good flavors but needs some tweaking to get it better. The sauce for the pasta salad was good but it didn't seem cohesive.

Another 10/10 experience. Started with the Pickle soup and the Okinomiyaki dip. The dip was our second favorite of the evening. Green curry mac, kimchi caesar, le blanc curry and meatballs were all great. Nothing was too spicy. The star of the show was definitely the brown butter cake with strawberries 🤤

The food was exceptional, the menu changes seasonally so everything is fresh and delicious. Its plated very nicely and tastes amazing. Most of the menu is vegetarian or vegan which is awesome, but its so filling and creative that you barely notice there isnt any meat. I got the Coconut Ginger Curry. The only thing I would possibly change is the overhead harsh lighting, but thats totally not a problem!

Amazing food - appealing presentations, just the right amount of spicy kick to the curry, and satisfying flavors. The hot toddy was served at the perfect sipping temperature. Bowens Island Restaurant is a beloved waterfront eatery that has been serving up fresh seafood since 1946. Despite the loss of its original building in 2012, locals and visitors still flock to this spot between James Island and Folly Beach for its local seafood dishes and picturesque sunset views at the end of a gravel road. The restaurant is known for its authentic oyster roast experience, making it a popular venue for reunions, parties, and even wedding receptions.
The food was good, with a huge amount of shrimp on our fish and shrimp plate. The restaurant itself is rustic, mostly open air, and a great place if you like those kinds of places which we do. The sunset is awesome there, but get there early enough to get a good seat. Large bar area.

The food is all fried. But, if you like oysters this is your place. It has one of the best views for sunset. Plenty of parking and everyone is very nice. It really is a good place for all visitors to come- they also do kayak and boat tours from here. It’s South Carolina- for sure! It’s not a swanky place- casual clothes and bug spray!

Can’t beat washing it down with a cold beer or cocktail, all perfect with the open air, marshy beach vibe. Beautiful location with 360 views, open and low key atmosphere. Enjoy the breeze while you wait for your food. Can’t recommend enough!
Katie O — Google review
Best fried shrimp I've ever had, by far. Perfect combination of salt balancing the delicate sweetness of the shrimp with just a light coating of breading for crunch. The service...well...it matches the facilities. If you're looking for someone to shower you with praise or southern syrupy sweetness, this is not the restaurant you're looking for. If you want kickass seafood, come here.
Philip P — Google review
Overall great experience. The staff was nice. I got the fish and shrimp platter. It was delicious and lightly battered. My husband got the seafood platter with 2 crab cakes, shrimp, and fish. My favorite was the fish, it was the best tender melt in your mouth flounder I ever tasted.
Darcell J — Google review
I was afraid to check it out after reading the negative reviews but I am glad I did. It was busy, waited in line to order and food took a little longer than I would have expected. Oysters on the half shell were great. Shrimp and grits were tasty. I found a quiet seat in the raw bar with a great view, which might have made it a little harder to find me and my number. Ontario in the raw bar was super friendly and took good care of everyone there.

Good, fresh seafood. You can tell the difference from this and most restaurants. Restaurant has a rustic, homey local vibe, not fancy. Good variety of choices, everything we had we enjoyed. Wish the slaw came in bigger cups!!
Ralph K — Google review
Cafeteria style, order at window, find a seat (no hostess), always busy and popular with the locals, because food is great, but limited local fish/shellfish menu. By the time you order, you can usually find a table, because tables turn over quite quickly. Beautiful spot off the beaten path, so worth the stop if you like seafood!

Nature & Parks
Nestled just a short drive from downtown Charleston, James Island County Park spans 643 acres and offers a plethora of outdoor activities. From biking and crabbing to camping and picnicking, the park caters to all kinds of adventurers. Visitors can enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, pedal boating, and fishing on the expansive lake or explore miles of biking, skating, and walking trails through lush landscapes.
We absolutely loved spending the week of 4th of July at James Island County Park. We tent camped (it was HOT), but we had fans made it work. The park was very clean and the staff were very friendly. We loved the water park and splash zone. It was a great way to beat the heat. The dog park is huge and they always have different events going on. I only wish we lived closer!

Just came back from Orlando Florida where the water parks were at least 5x the size… however that’s because they have to compete with Disney and universal. We went to a waterpark in Orlando at a hotel and it was larger than this, plus a full bar, however my children seemed to have just as much fun, and that’s what matters. 2 big, main water slides, a couple, smaller more in the splash zone, a lil lazy river and a pool that maxes at 4ft. All in all, it’s good for the price and a fun place to take littlies. I’d consider a season pass, however this is the only water park I’ve encountered in charleston (moved here last January and we normally go to either our apartment pool or the beach). Again, for the price, worth the visit. They also have a regular park to visit outside the water park grounds. It’s $2 per person to go, and the park is decent, nothing crazy, but still worth a trip

This is our favorite campground. We just got home today after a nice 9 nights camping there. The staff are so friendly. The sites are good size. The bicycle/walking trails are great! Wildlife abounds! Raccoons, squirrels, various birds, jumping fish and alligators of all size. Wooden swings located throughout the trails with scenic views. Paddle boats, paddle boards and canoes to rent. Water park in the summer. Dog park where dogs can run free and chase balls in the water. Fishing is available in lake and water ways. Bingo, ice cream night and more. Full hookups and close to lots of stuff in Charleston. Highly recommend!

Walked along the trail that surrounds the park, about 1h, with nice views. Nice 50ft climbing wall too. In December, if you come around 3:30/4:00pm, you can also enjoy the lights while leaving before the 5pm closure and the opening for the light festival.

I absolutely love this place! So much fun for the whole family and dog friendly too What a blessing that South Carolina has such beautiful state parks 🙌🏽
Heather T — Google review
What an awful place for those that like nature and fishing. Seems like all they really want here are, water park people and the Christmas lights visitors. One pond in particular USED to really produce massive bass. Now it seems like that pond was poisoned to remove all aquatic vegetation. The fish kill that occured here was sickening. Now there doesn't seem to be any fish life in it at all. Places I used to fish 3 to 4 years ago are now littered with no fishing signs. 100% won't be back.
Joe K — Google review
We had a perfect stay, no complaints! Showers were modern & clean, the laundry was outside under a porch but had rocking chairs & a swing to enjoy. It's was really quiet at night!

Date night with hubby and went to the Festival of Lights and it did not disappoint! The lights, of course, were beautiful as always. The employees were so polite and helpful. Shout out to the ladies at the Sweet Treat Shop. They were amazing. Best attitude, happy, friendly and made sure we were pleased! I can’t say enough! We also purchased ornaments that needed to be personalized. This young lady is soo talented. I was very pleased! All in all, I have nothing negative to say. Will definitely be back!

Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve, located at the far east side of Folly Beach, is a picturesque oceanside preserve offering a variety of activities. Visitors can explore marshland and maritime forests, enjoy the beach, go surf fishing, and indulge in birdwatching. The site played a significant role in the Civil War and has historical significance. Access to the preserve is available from sunrise to sunset daily for a nominal fee.
Such a beautiful place that me and my beautiful wife decided to get married here. The scenery, the driftwood, the lighthouse, the water, and the sunset. Could not be more breathtaking. The place we decided to "tie the knot" was called "The Washout"! Definitely worth the long walk to reach this spot. Not as crowded as you would think and we had our ceremony on a Saturday, around 7:45pm, 8pm.
David F — Google review
Beautiful scenic area to take a stroll or to just relax. Parking is hit or miss, but we were lucky to find a great spot. Graffiti walkway makes for a fun interesting walk to the inlet. Once there, enjoy the views of the lighthouse and the sounds of the birds. Nice area to search for shells.
Mrsr91899 — Google review
Tip: Visit when there's a good breeze! If you go when the wind has died down, you'll want to wear bug spray because the flying insects will eat you alive. Otherwise, it's beautiful in the early morning or around sunset. The birds and butterflies were amazing. Nice pick of shells on the shoreline too. Can't swim for safety reasons but it's a great place to take some pictures of wildlife, driftwood, and boulders. You might even spot some dolphins! Your dog will have to wait in the car since this is a bird sanctuary or you could be fined $$$.
Angela K — Google review
I had not previously explored this particular area of Folly Beach. Upon approaching the hotel on the main strip, I turned left and continued until the road's end. I discovered a lengthy road adorned with numerous graffiti art pieces. During my visit, I was fortunate enough to find some coral, shells, and even a shark tooth! I also greatly enjoyed observing the driftwood. The area was not heavily populated, which made for a very relaxing experience.
Kai — Google review
This place is so cool with all the drift wood and shells (sooooo many!!!) The lighthouse is do cool to see, definitely want to get a closer view next time🙂
Samantha — Google review
Beautiful view of the lighthouse. Easy to park. Less crowded than other beach access points.
J. J — Google review
This was something you need to be way more prepared to do. Parking is very difficult and the walk to the beach, while very cool and full of graffiti is LONG! We spent a couple hours looking for shark teeth, but came up empty handed. Yes, we went at low tide, but honestly the sand is so greasy and covered in sea foam from the ship pollution it was hard to see what we were touching. I would recommend a set of rubber gloves if you are going. They did have some cool spots for pictures on some driftwood trees that washed ashore with the lighthouse behind. Overall, I am indifferent about the experience, but I always like to see new places.
Melech F — Google review

Pirate's Cove Playground, situated on the 5th block east between Erie and Hudson, is a Folly-themed attraction featuring pirate ships, boats, and a lighthouse slide. Families can partake in various activities such as basketball, skateboarding, tennis, and playing at the playground area which includes a rope-webbed jungle gym and a toddlers' shrimp boat.
Very cute park! No dogs allowed but great for our 2 year old.

Very quiet beaches. Very kick back. Newly renovated basketball, and tennis courts.
Daniel G — Google review
Park poorly maintained. My daughter was so excited for this park. Only to find the slide broken and the wood rotten on the equipment. This place deeply needs help and repair. Someone here actively maintaining the pickleball court and no help with the broken playground equipment for the children. Priorities.
Trenton — Google review
Its ok. Not as clean as most beaches I've been to but its ok.
Guilliano J — Google review
The playground itself is good. Has a climbing dome, pirate ship, swings for babies and kids and some benches to sit. The lighthouse with the slide is currently broken. There is no access to the beach from here so I believe the reviews about beach are more for the actual beach which is 2 blocks away.
Svenja D — Google review
This is a good small park for parents and kids to take a break. However, I agree with the previous review as the slide still broken. That review was 4 months ago. So how long does it take to fix a slide? Just need some new bolts. That really does seem to be neglectful.
Joel C — Google review
Such a fun, cool playground blocks from Folly Beach! Hosted a birthday party there for my teen and everyone loved it!! Played basketball/dodgeball and then took a swim in the beach...in mid-March!! Love this place!
Sabrina P — Google review
A small playground with a posted age limit of 13. I recommend under 10. There are swings for toddlers and a pyramid spider-climber for older kids, plus two structures for 5 to 10 year-olds: a lighthouse and a fishing trawler (boat). There is also a gazebo and a couple of benches in the shade for tired parents. This is a great little playground for when you feel like getting off the beach.

Morris Island, located within Charleston Harbor, is a historic and charming uninhabited island that was the site of a significant American Civil War battle. Visitors can explore the island's fort remains and iconic lighthouses, including the well-known candy-cane-striped Morris Island Light. Boat tours are available to reach the island for shelling, relaxation, and picture-taking opportunities. Accessible only by boat, it offers a unique adventure in Charleston.
Love South Carokina's tallest lighthouse. If you have a ship or boat, you can see it close up. Otherwise, enjoy the view from afar. Island is cut off from the mainland. Do not try to swim there. The sea is too dangerous
Jeff W — Google review
Came here for a team outing on a guided tour with Coastal Expeditions from their Shem Creek location. We had a great time finding shark teeth and just enjoying some relaxing time on the beach.
Luke G — Google review
Nice drive out to this beach. It was very clean and we were able to find two sharks teeth along with some beautiful seashells. Very large beach area to hang out and enjoy the sun.
Geneva M — Google review
Lovely beach with TONS of shells. You need a boat to get here. (We used COA — highly recommend!) plenty of wildlife to check out. We saw hermit crabs, lots of birds, dolphins, sea snails. People brought their dogs and anchored just off shore. Lovely lighthouse to wander around near, although it is not accessible for tours and is no longer functional. There are no restroom facilities on the island.
Mandy H — Google review
There won't be many people out here and the expansive views combined with the constant sounds of waves and sea fowl is extremely relaxing. Be sure to look for shells and sharks teeth while you walk the beach. For an easy way to get out here, book an eco-cruise with Charleston Outdoor Adventures.
Chas K — Google review
Dredging around Morris Island, particularly in the Charleston Harbor area, led to the exposure of fossil-rich deposits, including shark teeth. Morris Island is known for its geological formations that contain fossilized remains, including those of sharks that lived millions of years ago. When dredging operations disturb the sediment layers beneath the water, it can uncover these fossils and bring them to the surface. Embarking on a modern-day adventure on Morris Island to uncover fossilized shark teeth is like stepping into a time capsule, delving into the ancient mysteries of our natural world. As you stroll along the sandy shores, the anticipation of discovering artifacts from creatures that roamed the seas millions of years ago adds an exhilarating touch to the experience. With each sift through the sand, the thrill of finding teeth from formidable species like Megalodon, great white, tiger, and Mako sharks is a direct connection to the prehistoric marine ecosystem. It's a tangible reminder of the immense power and diversity that once ruled the oceans. The winds whispering through the coastal landscape carry echoes of a bygone era, making the quest for these fossilized treasures not just a beachcombing activity but a journey through time. The juxtaposition of the modern explorer and ancient artifacts creates a sense of awe and appreciation for the enduring wonders of our planet. The fossils, once part of apex predators, now lie patiently, waiting to be discovered and admired, fostering a profound connection to the incredible history embedded in our natural world.
Matthew C — Google review
We went there on a tour from @adventure harbor tours.on Captian Howies boat. I brought my dog. We walked up and down the beach and Charlie swam in the ocean. While at the island... there were tons of shark teeth, shells, and sand dollars. Pretty cool little island full of dunes and driftwood.. and the rock Jetty.
Melody M — Google review
Boat tour is fine way to see the whole harbor, but you can drive out to Folly Beach far east end and park free. Then walk 15 minutes down the road to the waters edge. It's a great view of the lighthouse. Folly Beach has fun restaurants as well. Its a very laid-back village.

Park
The Bark Park, a hidden treasure nestled within Folly Beach, is an undiscovered gem for dog owners seeking a unique recreational space for their beloved pets. Tucked away on the island, this canine haven offers an array of amenities and activities that cater to both small and large dogs. The park boasts ample greenery and open spaces where furry friends can frolic freely. It also features various obstacles and play structures designed to stimulate their energy and agility.
It’s small, but it’s fairly new and located in the middle of a neighborhood on Folly Beach. Parking is available but extremely limited. It is sand so be prepared for that to go in your car when you leave. They have a water area for the dogs, several benches and picnic tables.

The location is hazardous for one's health. See towers nearby. The sand is fun for dogs, but a bath is recommended to prevent ticks' bites. My dog is used to grass, so she wasn't interested in leaving her scent there 🐕. Walking distance to the beach!

Yikes not sure how this place has gotten such rave reviews. This dog park is tiny! It felt so very cliquey, like a neighborhood block party. Upon arrival about 6 or 7 dogs (2-3 barking) were anxiously awaiting me and my pup’s arrival through the gate. Which sounds sweet and all, and it is, but all of the owners were at the other end of the park not paying attention and gossiping or what have you, and all of the dogs jumped all over us and the gate before we could get our bodies inside. No owners seemed to notice or care, and they certainly didn’t stop their dogs! There was a large friendly but energetic and socially awkward pit bull who did not take a hint that my dog wasn’t particular interested in playing with him and he would let my dog out of his site or space. . . Owner seemed to think my dog was the problem. Anyway, this place was a nightmare!! The owners who apparently dominate the place literally have no clue about dog park etiquette, coming from someone who has visited 100s of dog parks around the country. Neither me nor my dog is perfect, but I think the owners need to get out of their neighborhood bubble and read up on typical dog park etiquette.
Stephanie A — Google review
Well maintained, but I got bit on my feet by something (sand fleas?). Just make sure your pet is up on preventatives.
