After a 5-hour drive, stopping here was an absolute breath of fresh air! I was truly in awe of the stunning views and how clean and well-maintained everything was—from the park grounds to the restrooms. The lawns were perfectly manicured, and the surrounding flowers added such a beautiful touch. The kids had a great time stretching their legs, playing, and enjoying breakfast at one of the shaded picnic tables. Being able to walk right up to the edge, listen to the waves, and watch the birds—and even spot a few otters—was incredibly relaxing. Such a peaceful and refreshing stop. I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone passing through!

This beauty is located in the Shell Beach area, adjacent to 'Margo Dodd Park' where you can admire the caves better, (even more if you bring your binoculars). Plenty of parking. There's a kid's playground, walking trails, benches, lots of grassy areas with flowers, and stunning ocean views. Such a nice, family friendly atmosphere with a relaxing vibe. My dog had a good, happy walk here. The entire park is very clean and nicely taken cared of (but the sea smell was a bit strong for my sensitive nose). I was happy to see a lovely memorial bench area for 'Kristin Smart' as I followed her case since day one. It is a peaceful place to remember her as she loved the beach. Overall, it has always been a nice, relaxing time here and will visit every time we're in town.

This was such a cool place to visit. We have a van and we love to visit parks (city, state, and national parks)! The name intrigued us and we had to visit this cool park. We observed many birds flying over and landing on a large rock viewable from the edge of the park! We spent about six hours at the park and enjoyed all of the ammenities available to park visitors. Ammenities include clean bathrooms, a playgound, walking paths which lead to beautiful overlooking views of the horizon/ocean. If you passing through Pismo Beach, check this place out!

Beautiful park and playground for the whole family. The kids had a blast on the playground and then went on a walk with the paths along the ocean. A little scary with little ones because you are by a ocean cliff so keep them close:)

Definitely worth the visit. Unique scenic coves with lots of seagulls and pelicans. Great place to enjoy the beautiful view and relax for a while.

We came too late for tidepooling. Check the tides schedule. It’s a bit of a walk, south of the parking lot to the hotel, then down the stairs to a pebbly beach. Very cool cave and crashing of waves! The lower step where the stairs ends is steep- be careful! Gorgeous spot for picnic lunch! Even on Labor Day there was parking available and open picnic tables.

Cute park with a dinosaur theme that has a beautiful ocean view! Restrooms were clean and my grandkids really enjoyed it. There's a trail along the bluff where you can see kayakers and LOTS of birds sitting on the rocks.

This precious gem is located in the Shell Beach area, adjacent to 'Dinosaur Caves Park' with plenty of parking. Here, you can admire the caves in the water (even more if you bring your binoculars). You'll find a gazebo, benches to sit and enjoy the beautiful views and simply relax. This is such a peaceful spot, clean, grassy, and dog-friendly. I liked that the water fountains also have a bottom bowl fountain for the doggies! Such a cool thing to help keep our furry babies hydrated. They also have a poop-bag dispenser in case you forget to bring any. Overall, we enjoyed the tranquil setting of this park dedicated in honor of Margo Dodd, a civic and community leader.

Wonderful little park, this park is the literal translation that big things come in small packages. This has to be one of the most beautiful places to visit in Pismo/ Shell beach, the views are spectacular, especially around sunset.

Beautiful place, amazing vistas. The birds and sea lions were so fun to watch. We went snorkeling and had a fun time even though there was almost zero visibility, and tons of seaweed. It was great riding the swells through the caves and rocks. Great place to kayak. There is a fun park for kids up the street as well, great place to stop for a picnic.

Love this spot. This is a spot that we happen to run across by accident. And let me tell you what I'm glad we did. The area is clean, in a residential area. You can stand and take beautiful pictures off of the Bluffs or you can go down and enjoy yourself on the beach. It's nice it's quiet. Don't get me wrong there are people on there but it was very peaceful and relaxing. There are a lot of tide pools in rocks to explore, but be very careful. This is a place, a must see

Awesome place. You can just sit on a bench & enjoy the view or have a picnic. They have 3 bbq grills & 4 picnic tables. They also are two sets of stairs, that lead you straight to the beach. One off Morro & Ocean Blvd, the other off Vista del Mar & Ocean Blvd.

We chanced upon this each and was pleasantly surprised. Spent a lazy afternoon just watching the waves and the kids enjoyed hunting for hermit crabs in the tide pool. Be sure to check for daily tide schedule. Plenty of street parking

Found this by accident. This is simply one of the best spots I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot of beach sunsets. Photos don’t do it justice. The people in the community were very nice, wonderful ocean breeze, clean waters, and just the right amount of sun. Please be a respectful member of the community to keep this as wonderful as it is

This little overlook provides an amazing view! It wasn’t super busy, but it’s surprisingly chilly out so it may be that. Plenty of room for the kiddos to run around and play, just be careful of the construction areas!

We stopped here on a recent Wednesday during low tide in hopes of finding some tide pools. There was ample parking along the street during our visit, but only one set of stairs down to the beach was open. Tide pools were plentiful, but not many sea critters to be found. Very pretty spot though, with lots of interesting rock formations on the cliffs.

My favorite spot to catch the sunset 🌅 There is plenty of seating and many friendly folks who are walking their dogs, drinking wine, doing their workout, hanging out with their families, etc. I’ve also hosted a picnic or two here and it’s been great! Perfect spot for a picnic!

Restrooms are very clean and the park is right off the side of the beach great place to take your kids to wind down and have fun!! 😁😊

Nice park in Pismo. Good play area for kids, clean restrooms, and a small green space. A sort of treacherous path down to the beach, but good for looking at tide pools during low tide, and surfers were using the path to get to the water too. (Photos are of beach below the park)

Priceless park where you will find parking when you will never find it at Pismo Beach. There is a nice bathroom and the playground is perfect! We enjoyed flying a kite and some time on a beautiful beach where we had it mostly to ourselves.

We just needed a place to eat the amazing cinnamon rolls we had just gotten and found this beautiful park. Great for kids, doggos, and even adults. Ocean view is wonderful and you can take the stairs to the beach.

This park is fantastic! The playground is really cool with lots of fun climbing structure. There are picnic tables with grills, a stunning view out over the ocean, and a path down to a beach (we were unable to take the path due to king tides). Plenty of parking, and two individual bathrooms. What a wonderful spot!

Nice hot springs that' s been open forever! I've been coming here since the 70's and my grandfather used to come here from the 1930's to the 1970's ! Established in 1907, this hot springs has a nice clean single hot pool about 2' deep. You will sit with other folks and though there is some conversation going on, it's done fairly quietly and respectfully most times, obviously you'll get some louder people so expect that on occasion. There is also a nice large comfortable temp swimming pool with a slide and area for kids, with chairs and tables to sit and relax. We went on a weekday from 12-4 and there wasn't a lot of people. Weekends are especially busy at times. There are campsites and some small cabin rentals here also. There is a large grassy area in front of building for picnicking as you can come and go as long as you have wrist band on. No food served here, with vending machines for drinks. You can bring in your own water and munchies if you want. There is what they call an early session that goes from 7am-12 noon for 18$ which is nice also.

I had a great time soaking in the hot mineral springs. The price is great, especially for the morning and evening soaks. The staff is friendly and informative. If you need a towel or a lock for your locker, you can purchase them. They have a couple vending machines for drinks and snacks. They offer massages. This is a very low key, no frills hot springs pool. Bathing suits are required. The water does make your skin and hair feel soft and silky. My sore muscles were relaxed, when I left. The water does have a little of the mineral sulfur in it; so there is the slight, "Sulfur," smell. Don't let that turn you off. They keep the water at about 104°. If you like the warmer water stay near where the water comes into the springs pool. I prefer slightly cooler water; so, I stayed at the far end. I will definitely return when I'm in the area. One of the questions asked was, "Do they have a cold plunge pool? If you are looking for the standard 5'x5' (40°-50°) plunge pool, no, they don't. The swimming pool is heated to 89°. It is a normal, chlorinated pool, but the chemical treatment is perfectly balanced, and you don't smell the chlorine. ***Someone on Google said that they are open until 10:00 p.m. This is incorrect. I confirmed it with the staff. They are only open until 9:00 p.m.

$18 for 7am to noon. Worth every penny! Shallow mineral springs water pool and larger swimming pool to cool off. Don't be alarmed by the outdoor shower temperature, it warms up quickly. There are separate shower/locker rooms as well. Upon entry, Sunny the friendly resident cat directed us to the pools. Yes, there are PVC pipes in the mineral pool, but this is likely a necessity due to the high mineral content of the water. 10/10, will return!

Really enjoyed the hot springs. It helps take the toxins out of the body and helps to relax everything. Would prefer multiple smaller sized hot springs instead of one large one. But it is what it is. I heard the swimming pool also has minerals in it. That I need to ask questions about and find out. I'll update when I get some answers

Can be crowded during day. We reached after sunset, it was pretty good with less crowd on a weekend but the water wasn’t most clean tbh.

While staying at Dolphin Bay we needed whole milk for our kids- and this place delivered. Had checked other “markets” nearby with no success. Pricey, but expected for the location and convenience. A gallon of Crystal Creamery whole mile is $8.99… friendly service and easy to pop in and out. Grabbed some fresh bananas too! Seemed like there were lots of other fun food options but didn’t have time to browse.

What a truly special store; a real gem and, frankly, it made our Pismo trip! Excellent selection of products, fantastic sandwich options and assorted sides (potato, pasta salads etc.), and some truly lovely baked goods, both savory and sweet. The sandwich/deli counter staff were really friendly, informative, and open to alternate sandwich filling choices. Our cashier, Aiden, was an absolute delight being so attentive and kind. Keep doing what you're doing, Depalo & Sons!

First time to check this place out! Fantastic! Their products are of good quality! Wines, pastries, the sandwiches! We went back there the following day to just sit, ate my avocado sandwich which was delicious! My husband enjoyed the scones. Recommend to have more coffee choices maybe in the front? Latte, cappuccino while we enjoy your fabulous food!

The store is very cute. However, we did not like the sandwiches at all. We had the BBQ chicken and grilled eggplant. Neither had any flavor. The eggplant was so bitter that I couldn't finish the sandwich. My husband didn't finish his sandwich either. $14 and $13 wasted.

Very good grocery. Awesome baked good selections with a good choice of cakes. Cheesecake is very good. Everything you could want and more. Looking for hard to find items? This is the place.

Great place to stop off for lunch, right off 101 and next to a gas station. Upscale deli and grocery store, perfect for a picnic on the go. Sandwich, pasta, salads, etc.

We stayed at the spyglass and this place was super convenient. The sandwiches are delicious and had a bunch of novelty sodas. Staff was friendly and we got our sandwiches fast. They have tons of already prepared Italian foods and soups to take home. I would highly suggest this place. Also stays open later compared to other places around there. Nice little store.

Absolutely love the service and the quality of the food offerings. Nice menu with wonderful selections of Seafood, Beef, Pork Chops, etc. Great experience and environment for a comfortable. Our server, Dana made sure the evening was filled with delicious food and drinks for a memorable occasion.

Lovely lunch on the patio. We had a very leisurely meal with great service. We both tried the pear and goat cheese salad. My friend had the bread basket and said the bread was amazing. I added salmon to my salad and it was very well cooked and delicious. A great place for a relaxing meal.

Got the first reservation at 5pm. We were a little bit early and they quickly set up our table. I should've taken pics of the drinks, food and dessert, but I forgot a I enjoyed the outdoor dining and the delicious food. The outdoor patio had plenty of heaters to keep the table warm and spaced out nicely. There was some indoor seating but we preferred outdoor seating. All the dishes were yummy and the service was good. Will definitely come back.

Had a wonderful dinner with my husband and our friends on Thursday evening. We had an Artisan cheese board and fried calamari as starters. All the cheeses were amazing and the Calamari was wonderful! For my main I had the deep sea scallops and pork belly over polenta and carrots. The scallops were perfect and the pork was super tender and delicious. For desert I had the chocolate torte and it was rich and delightful. Service was fantastic and our only complaint was that we chose to sit on the patio and we had a few bees that would not leave us to enjoy our food. We ended up relocating inside to enjoy coffee and desert. Our server was super accommodating and we will definitely go back when we get an opportunity to do so!

We visited the Gardens of Avila Restaurant for my fiancée’s birthday dinner, hoping for a special experience—but unfortunately, it fell short. While the staff was friendly, they didn’t seem very informed about the menu. When we asked about popular dishes or specials, our server simply said, “The menu is small. I serve all of the dishes.” I also asked for a wine pairing with my entrée—especially important considering we’re in wine country—but the server had no recommendations. The wait for our food was over an hour (1 hour and 5 minutes), which really took away from the evening. When the food finally arrived, it lacked flavor and attention to detail. The mashed potatoes, for example, were closer to soup in consistency. To top it off, the bill came out to nearly $150 before tip, which felt excessive for such a disappointing experience. We were really hoping for a memorable and enjoyable night out, but sadly, Gardens of Avila didn’t deliver.

As a local, I appreciate that this place balances refinement with comfort. The bar and terrace are great for a casual meal too, and the kids’ menu is surprisingly solid. Nice to have a place that treats all guests well.

A true hidden gem. Everything here is fabulous. By far the best restaurant burger I've ever had, from San Francisco, Beverly Hills to San Diego. Avila Beach is where you will find it. Fresh veggies from the garden across the street. Very warm and welcoming staff. We will definitely revisit every time.

This restaurant was absolutely amazing. We visited from the east coast and stayed at the hotel on the property. The views were breathtaking the food was delicious. The presentation staff ambiance was 5 star. Will definitely be returning when visiting Cali. The ceviche was my favorite great app for the table. Also great place to celebrate a birthday. My son loved it they made his birthday special added candles to his slice of cake great dessert options.

Food was amazing! We had the steak, molcajete, a chicken steak dish, pozole. The steak had a delicious glaze on it and a nice smoky flavor and the pozole was seasoned perfectly. Would have had a nice view of the bay except the fog came in. Our server Alberta was so attentive and caring. Our kiddo loved his quesadilla and some of my steak plus the yummy desserts. Definitely coming back.

We had reserved a table on a Friday night and were seated right away with a great view. The wait staff were attentive and the margaritas were very good. The food was fine, but my wife felt her fish was a bit bland and my chili relleno’s cheese inside wasn’t melted. The cornmeal crusted calamari were quite good as were the sauces, although my wife found corn meal vs traditional batter a bit weird. If I came back I’d definitely order something else.

Today's night out was spectacular. The atmosphere, the restaurant, the food, EVERYTHING was 💯. A cheery on top for me was my dish; Choppino which was top tier. I will be back soon enough.

The waiter and food were excellent. He recommended the shredded beef birria tacos, sopes, and lobster mac for dinner entrees. He was not wrong. Amazing Mexican food and freshly made tortillas on the side.

This is one of the most highly recommended restaurants I’ve been to in the U.S. — reasonable prices, excellent service, and delicious food with generous portions. Their complimentary appetizer is freshly baked warm corn tortillas served with four different kinds of sauces — a delightful surprise compared to the typical tortilla chips you get at most Mexican restaurants. The clam chowder is an absolute must-try. It’s the best I’ve ever had — rich in both seafood flavor and creaminess. Every spoonful is packed with a variety of seafood, not just clams but also squid and others. The only slight downside was that the soup wasn’t hot enough when served, but other than that, it was nearly flawless. (4.8/5) The fish and chips, on the other hand, are skippable. The fried fish was quite standard and not particularly special. (3/5) Their pasta was amazing. The sauce and penne were already excellent on their own, but the seafood on top was definitely not an afterthought. Both the shrimp and fish were plentiful and perfectly cooked — tender and flavorful without being overdone. (5/5) Another great touch was the water they served. Instead of the usual lemon slices, they use cucumber slices, which made it taste refreshingly clean. Unlike some restaurants where the water can be slimy or have a weird taste, theirs was genuinely enjoyable. The view over there is also astonishing!

Great Mexican fusion cuisine and solid service. Filet Minion special was outstanding and good kids choices. For the fans of Old Fashion - you have to try theirs.

On the way back from hiking trail that’s beside this place. We decided to get a breakfast. Our hotel has great croissants I was in a mood for some eggs and a proper breakfast. My wife had the yogurt with granola fruit and I had a three egg omelette. Both were amazing. Very pet friendly and excellent decor well worth the stop. The service and staff were fantastic as well.

This is a nice neighborhood market that also serves food and coffee with a nice fireplace and seating area. We had Americanos from the coffee bar, and my wife had a gluten-free pizza and I had soup and a sandwich. Everything was very tasty. Nice little place to have a meal.

My partner and I stopped here for brunch as we walked along the Bob Jones Trail. The food selection was better than expected, as they added more options to the breakfast menu, and there were several gluten-free choices. They are also well-stocked with local artisan food products/desserts. The staff is incredibly friendly, personable, and attentive. It's a beautiful space as well with a nice, relaxed atmosphere. However, I had to lower my overall rating because the state of the women's bathroom was just abysmal- it looked like it had been days since it was cleaned, and none of the stalls had toilet paper. To their credit, one of the staff quickly jumped in to restock after I asked. But still, I don't think the restroom being that dirty is justified, considering the restaurant wasn't particularly busy.

My husband and I rented bikes and enjoyed a ride on the Bob Jones trail. We passed Woodstone and decided to return for lunch. That was a great idea. It's a beautifuul peaceful spot with fantastic food. We both had prime rib salads that were amazing. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable,and extremely welcoming. Alex, the owner, has created a gem and has plans to add even more improvements. We liked this place so much tonight we plan to return for dinner.

We were lucky enough to find this place while we were staying at the Cliffs Hotel 10 minutes down the road. From the service, to the quality, and the overall atmosphere of this gem of a Market/Restaurant we truly can’t be more impressed! We ended up coming 3 days in a row while visiting San Luis Obispo. I truly have not found one thing to complain about. Breakfast Items we had -Oatmeal -Breakfast burrito (Sub with Tri Tip + jalapeños ) -Bagel - Fruit Plate Lunch items we had -Alex”s Burger (Added bacon, subbed with pepper jack cheese and Brioche Bun) -Marguerite Pizza -Turkey Melt -Tri Tip Sandwich Drinks - All coffee here is amazing, can’t go wrong with any! -Homemade Iced Tea (Eden’s Garden + Hibiscus) - Hazy Little thing IPA Thank you Alex, Seth, and the rest of the staff who made this experience one we will long for again!

Tri tip sandwich was recommended and it didn’t disappoint. Very tender, easy to shred. Had it to go so meat was foil wrapped, bun was toasted and veggies were there and out it together when ready to eat, with sauce. Came with choice of pasta or potato salad. This potato salad was delicious for purists - potatoes, mayo, celery, tiny bit of red onion. No mustard or weird tangy taste. Not slimy. While we were there the coffee smelled wonderful.

Looks like new owners. This place is back on the list of good spots for food on the Central Coast. I'm not a fan of serve-yourself counter service, I'd much rather have a waiter. But the food is good.

We had a great time at the Barn this week! My kids love feeding lettuce to the animals and seeing the chickens. This time, we took the tractor ride for a tour of the farm and then picked our own berries to take home! Ice cream is also a must-get whenever we visit. They had a musician playing music that was very enjoyable for me to listen to while my kids fed the animals.

This is a miniature cute farm that is great fun for the whole family, especially for kids to explore and feed the animals. Besides feeding animals, Children can also try the pony rides. Normally we like to buy the seasonal fruits and vegetables. They are all grown from local farms. I like the gift selections. There are gifts here that you can not get easily at other places. So they have special gifts. They sell some homemade pastries as well. My father-in-law likes the Zucchini bread the best. It has a corner that sells ice cream and drinks. Some light meals are also available while you rest. We tried the Olallieberry pie ice cream which was delicious.

Dear Avila Valley Barn, I had no expectations coming here other than knowing it was close to the 101 freeway and it was a great place to stop. And, indeed, it was a great stop during our drive up the Central Coast. There were families and people of all ages and walks of life at your little farm. There were plenty of places to park and we got lucky finding a shaded spot under a tree near the entrance. There were plenty of things to see here from an ice cream barn on the left, a produce and small market in the middle, a corn on the cob stand, and an area to feed the little goats to the right - and plenty more animals around back. Avila Valley Barn had a variety of fruits and snacks available but I made sure to stand in the long (but fast) line for fresh roasted corn on the cob. It was delicious! We even bought some raspberries to snack on for the ride back. Too bad you were out of your apple cider but that only means I’d have to make a return visit. I did, however, make sure I purchased two of your pumpkin loaves and a giant cookie since all your other loaves were sold out. Oh, and your ice cream was so creamy. It was so delicious on a hot July afternoon. I enjoyed my first visit and I know it won’t be my last. I dream of coming back to Avila Valley Barn. Super Cute & Fun Family Experience! If you have kids, this is an awesome destination that doubles as a knowledge bank for the young minds, if you plan an academic outing as well. Many animals to pet or feed lettuce to, many varieties of u-pick fruits/vegetables/flowers, many little stops all at this farm. Photo-ops galore! And the food? Delicious! We stopped and had the tri-tip & chicken sandwiches which were so fresh & so tasty. I'm already planning a trip to go back for the fall desserts and tip check out the store. No fees to get in, only to feed the animals or to buy anything from the many products & u-pick. We went during pumpkin season so there is also a massive maze!! Fee for adults/kids but a free tiny maze for the little ones.

We have been coming to Avila Barn for years and have watched it grow into this amazing place for families. Now that we have started a little family of our own, we love places like this. It's a second generation owned farm that offers food and fun. During certain times of the year they will bust out the holiday decor and activities for all to experience. Right now they are getting ready for fall so a whole bunch of new things are starting on September. This place can be pricey for some but you can honestly make a fun day out of it and not break the bank if you didn't want to. We ate at the Chicken Shack and Smokehouse (which is BOMB 💣 by the way) rode the tractor 🚜 with our very nice tour guide Bob, picked Gala Apples 🍎 and fed the animals and bought some fruit all for under 100$. So,it can be done.

During our family vacation in San Luis Obispo, Avila Valley Barn was an incredibly appealing stop, especially for our 6-year-old! The animal feeding experience is a highlight, costing just $3 USD for a head of lettuce. Compared to prices in Los Angeles, this felt like a fantastic deal – the lettuce was even cheaper and fresher than what we'd buy for ourselves at an LA supermarket! They have a wonderful variety of animals including sheep, chickens, cows, donkeys, and alpacas, all eager for a snack. Another fantastic activity is the tractor ride, priced at $5 per person (adults and children alike). This 20-minute ride is led by a friendly old man who drives the tractor and shares interesting information about the plants grown on the farm. The farm store is a delight, offering a tempting selection of candies, ice cream, and various fresh fruits. There's also a small restaurant on site. Avila Valley Barn is a wonderful attraction for experiencing a taste of farm life. We recommend setting aside 45 minutes to 1.5 hours for your visit. You can enjoy a meal at the restaurant or bring your own food for a picnic. It's a truly charming and memorable stop for families!

Avila Valley Barn is a blast! We kept my 1 yr old entertained and happy for a good 2 hours and could have kept going. Also didn’t break the bank. The corn is delicious and I love that you get to add the fixings yourself. Can’t wait to go back when the pumpkins are on display.

Unfortunately no restroom, but the Nitro Cold Brew and Matcha Latte were awesome! The guy working here was really friendly and the view of the harbor is really awesome from the second story loft seating area. I would rate this a 5 star if there were a customer bathroom, which is quite a bummer but it is apart of my reviewing process. Also the matcha latte was made well, but the Chasen was not pre heated before whisking which seems to be a common practice. The bowl used to whisk is not cleaned after each use either from the looks of it.

This spot wasn’t the easiest to get to with limited parking, but to be fair, it was a sunny Saturday so crowds were expected. The coffee and ice cream did not disappoint! We used to visit Kraken when they were in Pismo and were surprised to learn they’d moved, but luckily found them at their new location. Enjoyed a great view with my cup of coffee while wrapping up some work!

Great location across from the beach on the boardwalk. The lattes are rich and full of flavor. Highly recommend the breakfast burritos. The staff are very personable and knowledgable. There is plenty of seating in the lift area with an ocean view. Great vibe to work and hangout.

This place was soo cool and amazing. Great staff, food, drinks, and brand clothes. I got a ice matcha latte with vanilla syrup it was SO good very flavorful. I recommend coming here. The prices were very good for the item. Even has a second floor loft to sit and work. Everybody there was also so nice. It was my first time going there and most likely it won't be my last, im coming here whenever I come to Avila.

The cutest coffee shop right on the beach. The coffee is fantastic and they have an awesome space with ocean views upstairs that’s perfect for studying. I’m a huge fan of coffee shops and this one has the perfect vibe! If I lived here I’d be a regular. The new owners are very sweet and the employees are great too. I’ll definitely be back.

Two delicious lattes with oat milk, one with vanilla flavoring and the other with hazelnut. They were prepared really quickly and they were perfect. Really nice coffee people and the decor inside was really nice.

Nothing especially commendable about the Ocean Grill. Though the service was excellent, the food quality was not enough to back up the high price. I was impressed with the presentation of some of the dishes, such as the lava cake and the mahi tacos, but others such as the seafood pappardelle and lobster ravioli failed in both presentation and quality when considering the price. The same quality for $10 cheaper I could understand.

Our waitress did a great job under pressure. The women carry the front of house. The men tend to stand around, especially the barman. The food was ok. The clams were babies and the green salad lacked thought.

Rachel was super sweet and very helpful and attentive, the crew here was kind and friendly willing to help even if we weren't there table. 5/5 The beet salad was definitely shareable dressing was alittle tart for my taste, but fresh, and beets cooked perfect. 4/5 The crispy calamari filled its plate and the aoili was yummy. 5/5 The fish and chips were ok, battered nicely but catfish a bit soft and mushy for my taste, however, we really enjoyed the fritz 3/5 Ambiance is kept dim, but warm for 815pm. 🙌🏽

A classic favorite of mine is the clam chowder I definitely recommend trying it. To my surprise I really enjoyed the fish tacos the where absolutely delicious and the view is beautiful the wait was around 30 minutes for a table but it was definitely worth it. I plan on stopping by again next time I’m in the area.

Most restaurants are booked months in advance for Mother’s Day - we had not planned anything. The hostess was most accommodating and seated us immediately. The menu was fixed and had many choices. The caprese salad was delicious. My friends chose the halibut it was a very generous portion. My entree was a veggie frittata a little too well done for my taste yet very tasty. I would return on a regular say to check out the normal menu.

Wow! They have stepped up their menu. We had tried this restaurant in 2016 and it was just ok. Now, they have a new chef and menu, it is delicious! We could not beleive how good the clam chowder was. It was the best out of New England I have ever had. The fried calamri was also good. The scallops with pork belly were seasoned and cooked to perfection.

Servers were attentive but not over bearing. Excellent selection of local wine. In our opinion, the Ocean Grill Fettuccini was superb , exceeding the Glazed Salmon. The creme brûlée was a refreshingly sweet way to end the evening👍🏼

Custom House is a nice restaurant but you grab your own menu and seat yourself, then have to pick up your own food at the counter. I got the cioppino bowl. The food is well seasoned. The sauce is a little powerful in contrast to the seafood. The service is good but I wish there were actual servers. I'd come back some day to try other options.

Dont go here if you are expecting to have a nice sit down meal. You have to order and serve yourself now. The food was ok but could have been better. The chicken quesedilla was so greasy I could barely eat it. My dad got the jumbo clam strips and were burnt and tough to eat. The fish and chips are pretty good but not worth going back ever. Clam chowder was decent. Overall won't be going back.

For dinner, we decided to stop at the custom house. I had the jumbo clams and my wife had the tri-tip Cobb salad. I also got the onion rings as I ordered to my clams. The clams were not exactly jumbo, but very tasty and the onion rings as a side I got three. But overall, they were still very good. My wife’s Cobb salad wasn’t exactly a Cobb salad however to tri-tip was cooked beautifully. And the salad itself was very well done. I shouldn’t mention they were dog, friendly, and even had a dog menu. I would go again. I would just change what I ordered.

Well it's definitely different since they remodeled but the service is still great! A different menu than last year but the food was superb! Can't wait to go again

What the hell happened to this place? It was fine casual dining for decades and has devolved into a tourist trap garbage cafeteria.... except they kept the fine dining pricing. Literally served, actually you have to go get it yourself, on plastic cafeteria trays and every appetizer we ordered was nothing more than freezer to fryer. There is no cooking going on here anymore. I spent many days at the Custom House in the 90's and 00's and I'll never be back again. The legacy is dead. Rick's next door is no better. I am actually depressed saying this, but I think everything that made Avila great (except the weather) is gone.

The food was great! Dog friendly with outdoor and indoor seating. The cashier that took our order was so kind and friendly. Will definitely be back!

If you’re in Avila Beach and need a sweet treat, do yourself a favor and stop by Reimer’s Candies, Gifts & Ice Cream! We tried their affogato (espresso poured over ice cream), and it was absolutely amazing. The espresso was rich and bold, perfectly complementing the creamy, high-quality ice cream. One had whipped cream on top, and the other was loaded with crunchy chocolate bits, both were delicious. The customer service was excellent, friendly, fast, and genuinely welcoming. You can grab your dessert and enjoy it just steps from the beach with a beautiful ocean view. Reimer’s is the perfect stop after a day in the sun. Highly recommend for anyone looking for the best affogato on the Central Coast!

Went in while on vacation in Avila. It’s very nicely decorated and cute inside. We bought some peanut butter fudge, smoothies, shaved ice, and a few other things. The mango smoothie was delicious, and so was the shaved ice. The fudge was quite good, as well. This shop is definitely a great place to visit if you’re in the area and looking to satisfy your sweet tooth.

I have been going for years to Avila beach I never knew that this shop is the same shop from three rivers ca the homage candies are delicious and the ice cream like no other my daughter loves loves lavender ice cream and this is one of the best worth every cent and the drive please try and keep going back it’s home made 🙏

I was looking for a spot that made their own ice-cream and this one hit the spot! The person helping me out with trying all the flavors was super inviting and let me know what her favorite flavors were. I went for the one with the toffee and was not disappointed. Waffle cones were great as well.

I can see why everyone raves about this shop. It lives up to its hype! It can get pretty busy, and you may do with a little wait but don’t fret, it’s so worth it. I love how you get to customize your own sandwich. You get what you love. It’s all made with high quality ingredients you can taste and see. They offer great drinks/and sides as well to pair. If I lived closer, I would be here once a week, no doubt.

This travel pitstop was a delightful place for sandwiches. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was unique. Banking on its location on High Street and the name, this cute eatery gives very northern California vibes with its craft beers and cheeky decir. This place is really popular and we went right in the middle of lunch time, so we waited almost an hour for our order. We got a special blueberry jam inspired sandwich, a turkey loaded with avocado and jalapenos, as well as a loaded pastrami. All the sandwiches were yummy and we continued our trip happy and satisfied.

Fun, cute vibe with a lot of cute seating options! Super busy when I went, but they moved through the orders quickly so I didn't wait long for my meal. Staff was extremely warm and welcoming. They sandwich was good with highly quality ingredients, but for some reason dripping watery mayo which was off putting (spring club) and made the meal pretty messy. Would definitely go back and try a different sandwich

This is a nude beach (or at least people were very nude when I arrived). Great hike down to the beach. Very calm waves and nice water temperature. Parking was easy to find on a Friday afternoon. I just wish the "nude" part was made clear before we were surprised.

Beautiful although saddening to see all the litter debris everywhere. Parking is better done by the road unless you want to risk damaging your vehicle. Be cautious to where you walk due to people urinating any where. No potter potties on location and nearest bathroom isn't close. This isn't a family spot for kids due to the younger crowd drinking, smoking and some areas allowed nudity. Lots of areas have been defaced by graffiti or stickers plastered everywhere. Beautiful hike , just be cautious, walk ways haven't been groomed and you will get scratched. A gorgeous view of the surrounding beach and cliffs. And my favorite.....a hidden gem under the trees will be a creepy wooden swing.

Great hide away cove. Beach is mostly nude so be prepared if you bring the kids. Water is cold but it’s usually isolated from the winds. Update summer 2022: There is a solid sea grass submarine climate here, and as expected you will see sea life in the Pirate Bay. That said, a significant tiger shark pod was pulled from the vicinity the summer of 2022. So, swimmers beware.

The family was having a great time at Avila Beach and we were looking for a place to get something to eat. This place came recommended by our Airbnb owners. We decided to try out this place which was a pleasant surprise. Very conveniently located next to the beach, offers a wide variety of food on the menu and fast service. You can get coffee, dessert or a full fledged meal. They have ample seating inside and outside and they have other stuff for sale. The food is priced reasonably and the portions are fine. Parking can be a nightmare. They accept credit cards but charge a 3% fee which is kind of lame given the items are priced well to absorb that cost. Overall a good experience.

A nice corner cafe for lunch with large windows to look into the beach walk. It's air conditioned too. There are delicious deli sandwiches, soft drinks, coffee and ice cream to enjoy. Or you could browse around the gifts they have to offer. The staff is really friendly and the service is quick.

Went to go get ice cream with my family, family of 8 we had a guest come from Virginia and experience the most RUDE SERVICE IN THE ICE CREAM SIDE. She is the tall blonde girl and I would say the owner as well!!!!! Extremely RUDE!!!!! Never again will I go in there. Very disappointed.. they say us Latinos and felt discriminated against!!!

Might as well get punched in the face. We spent over $150 on food and clothing to have to deal with their hispanic rude unhappy cashier. She was being rude and aggressive with customers seems she isn’t happy about her life and takes it on customers. She was arguing with me about a request for a spoon and was not happy I was speaking English. She kept pushing her spanish on customers that do not speak the language. What a horrible experience and person to deal with. Go to Avila Market, larger selection happier people.

One of the worst sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life. I did the "build your own" option, and the thing I hate the most is that they didn’t mention anywhere that bacon was an extra four dollars, until you get to the register. The bread wasn’t even toasted, and I ended up paying almost $20 for the most garbage sandwich ever.

Food is amazing. Service is the best. Karaoke night is just the cherry on top. Atmosphere is super fun. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

It had been 20+ years since I last visited Mr. Ricks and this will be the last as the owners have decided to merge it with their other operation The Custom House next door. It used to be a nice little place further up the hill with a dtunning view of the bay, now it is down the beach with all the other restaurants and shops. The bar tender was cool and dug up.one of the last Mr. Ricks sweatshirts for me. Sad day.

Beach front location. Order at the counter, take a number and then find a seat either inside or out. We sat outside on a beautiful day and listened to the waves as we ate lunch. Clam chowder was good, but just a bit gritty. Bloody Mary was OK, not great. Eh…

On the beach at the Avila pier (closed) so atmosphere/location is the draw here Food was average but the prices were reflective, so pretty affordable for a central coast restaurant on the water. I had the lobster roll sandwich. Not gamey. Didn't taste like it was caught yesterday but pretty good. Old Bay seasoned fries were cooked perfectly. Wife had ceviche and a salad. Both were ok. You'll spend 50 to 100 bucks in for two without alcohol. Given the spot that's reasonable in late 2024. Stop by if you're hungry and want to hear the seagulls and waves crashing against the pier.

Dog heaven - my dogs love this place. The dogs have a great time running the beach and playing with the other dogs. People who frequent the beach are friendly and so are the pups. It is extremely busy during the summer and if you’re going on the weekend in the summer better get up early.

Great dog friendly beach that is not super crowded and has great views of the piers, port, and crashing surf. There are clean bathrooms and free street parking.

This was a really nice beach. There is plenty of space to roam. It is dog friendly, off leash. The water and sand are very clean. There are restrooms available. Free parking was readily available on the side of the road. Very quiet and was less crowded than Avila beach. I would highly recommend this place for a perfect beach day with your dogs.

The best!!! Dog beach yay!!!!! Took my dog here and he made so many fur friends. All the dogs were off leash and having so much fun. There's even restrooms, trash cans, and dog waste bags at the entrance!! Visited on a Sunday evening in beginning of July, it was a pleasant trip, alot people but not overly crowded. I also like the fact that there's wireless service out here.

Just as described. Perfect place for your dog to play off leash. Everyone is just having a great time watching their dogs have the time of their life. Nice rock barriers keep dogs away from road. Parking along the street and restroom at top. Water foundation, but was not on today, when we went. But try to always make sure I keep extra water on hand for my puppy dog.

Mulligans is the best spot for a drink and a view on the central coast. The live music Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday comes with an ocean breeze to accompany the many local bands that come year round. In summer, the Santa Maria style BBQ and outdoor bar make the space all the more fun, but the fire pits can warm you along with the music all winter long. Definitely worth a stop!

Although there are many delicious restaurants in Avila Beach, this restaurant is the one we like the most. The reason is simple. The food is immaculate and is at a reasonable price. There is beautiful scenery and it is quiet. It is very relaxing. The burger is classic and delicious. The wings are great too and good for sharing. I liked the tacos the best. Especially the Tri-tip tacos. All in all, it is a great place for lunch or a light meal. They also have events.

Food is normally really good. Today, it was crap. I got the hot pastrami and I couldn't even bite through it was so tough. Grandson got fish and chips. It was over fried, dark, tough and bitter probably from old grease. Tartar sauce looked green

Greatest secret for breakfast and lunch on the central coast. Great bloody Marys and coffee. Had the Central Coast Scramble with bacon. Excellent. Served on a plastic plate with plastic cutlery. Also sweet potato fries done just right. This is not fine dining. Go to Blue Moon over Avila for that. Order inside and fetch your order when called. Quiet atmosphere at 10 am on a Tuesday outside with a great view of the creek, beach and ocean. Come and relax away from the crowds.

Amazing night listening to the bridges band Slo tonight. Perfect evening to relax and chill to sometimes by the ocean. First time here and definitely will be back again. Love the band too and hope they come back and play some tunes.

Most food is fried. But, they do have sandwiches. Generous portions for scallops. Halibut tasted fresh and delicious. Clam chowder was very good. Kids’ fish and chips was above average.

This place is legendary in the area. We have been several times over the last 30 years. For being on the harbor I was hoping for more of a fish selection. The menu was mostly crab, a few cods, and shrimp. I did get the breaded prawns and they were good with the rice pilaf. My husband got the fish and chips and he enjoyed them.

The waitstaff was excellent, the cinnamon rolls were amazing, and the view was beautiful. I would go back for the cinnamon rolls. The crab benedict was good and had a fair serving of crab.

It was a glorious day in Avila Beach out near Port San Luis With clear blue skies and warm sunshine on an October day we were all together as a family at Fat Cat’s Cafe. Although the setting is very pretty nearby and we have been here many times, it’s not the same anymore. The server he did not even know what the price of a cup of coffee it was and did not take time to go find out. The waitress was lovely and moved an umbrella so that we could have some shade. The patio is very sunny and it gets hot But the worst thing is they have a severe problem with meat wasps. In fact, one of them rolled in the syrup on my pancakes right in front of me. Only one of us reported that their food was really good and they ordered special pork tamales that day. The rest of us were fairly disappointed. With only a few exceptions, but none of that matter because we really could not enjoy ourselves because the flying, pesky insects were so bad. I could see that there were some traps for these meat wasps in various locations, but they were not doing the job. We tried not to let it ruin our day. But the young toddler with us had to be consoled because of the bees. Showing them away was not helpful and it was a real chore to eat any of our food. Meat wasps come out of nests that are underground. They are difficult to get rid of. We are unable to come back.

Great place to grab lunch with the family. Reasonable price. Large portion. Logan our server was super friendly and courteous. He explained the menu well and made a couple recommendations. Onion rings made on site are really crispy and tasty. Clam chowder bread bowl is really hearty and satisfying. Seafood Po boy sandwich hit the spot. My philly cheese steak sandwich was tender and full of sweet caramelized onions. Chicken fried steak was savory. I enjoyed the rice pilaf with veggies. I noticed most of the guest around me was joyfully finishing their plate. I appreciate the restaurant manager at the end of our meal asking" how was our food". Great food and we are satisfied.

Genuinely the best food I have tasted in a long time. Food comes fast and is delicious! It was a little busy but I tried the crab club sandwich, it had a good portion size and tasted amazing. The clam chowder is also very good. Rich and creamy! Will definitely come again!

This is a destination. Tons of family fun. Everything you need in a small, walkable area. Everything from an aquarium, a park, the beach, food, hotels, etc. Absolutely beautiful!

Nice beach and restrooms were close. I like that it wasn't cramped. Only down side was there wasn't any handicapped parking in the parking area close to the beach.

It's such a beautiful place to visit. It is a small stretch of beach with relaxing beach space if you are looking to have a fun filled family adventure this will suite your needs.... not to mention that there's an aquarium here too that is nice and affordable. The park that surrounds the aquarium has barbecue pits and a playground... Safe travels......

Wonderful long beach line with well maintained public areas, playground and maritime museum. Widely enjoyed on sunny days for sunbathing, picking at the beach and playing with small kids and dogs, with the beach area for dogs separate. The public restroom is gender - neutral and oftentimes it has a waiting line.

This beach and park can get very crowded. But it's definitely worth it. Most of the adjacent street parking has a 3 hour limit. If you plan to stay longer, find parking on Avila Beach Road.

A great community educational resource with a mission on informing the public on the local kelp forest and marine ecosystem. Great staff, excellent small exhibits. A resource for kids, school age kids education, summer camps and more including learning after dark.

We had a great time exploring this little aquarium and thought it was an excellent introduction to the local sea life. The volunteers were great and the abundance of information which they gladly shared with us made the visit even more interesting. Definitely worth a visit!

Nice little aquarium. Great for kids. The staff were very accommodating, making sure my busy 3 year old was able to touch all the little critters. It is very small but a great little stop during the rain or to pass a bit of time. $9 a head can get expensive for what it is but I understand what they are doing takes money. We enjoyed it.

Cute and small. It has been open for 14 years and is apart of the museums for all program. Which if you were not aware of this program it is where card holders of Medi-cal or Ebt can have low cost discounted admission to these places. It is a program that gives those in poverty the chance to learn just like everyone else. Definitely donate to this aquarium. their staff is lovely and so are their marine family. We all should help small places like these grow. I am so glad to have included this Aquarium in my itinerary. My mother, sister and two children loved it as well. Small in size but everything inside leaves the greatest memory.

We could not love this little aquarium more! Everyone was so knowledgeable and friendly. We were there for the pier feeding and it made all the fish get very active. The crown jewel is Mitch, the octopus. He is fabulous. Thank you for curating such a nice little exhibit.

Bubbling Brie was amazing. Wish we had ordered one each! The Duck a L’Orange was delicious. The Wild Mushroom Ravioli was delicious but the portion could’ve been bigger. We would definitely come back. The staff were all lovely.

The location and atmosphere is great! The kids that work here are friendly and working hard. My partner is French so we love a good Bistro! The wines choices were great, but, the food was disappointing. The Soup à l’onion seemed watered down, but the cheese on top was good. Clam Chowder was comforting. Baked Brie (small) was great! Sadly, my $50 scallops were smaller sized and a bit chewy. The “Cognac” Cream sauce was just thick and creamy without flavor. I didn’t finish my main course. The staff was wonderful and hit by a late night rush at 8pm on a Friday night. This may also be the reason our food was lacking. We would give it another try.

This is a favorite place. Great French food and wine. The staff are super friendly, especially the French sommelier. But, the view of the ocean, pier and beach are awesome, especially at sunset. Avila Beach is a very cool, quaint place to hang out!

Great experience this past Labor Day Weekend. Sometimes small towns have overpriced food that doesn’t deliver on taste. I was worried about that here but couldn’t have been more wrong. Great value for the dishes we got and the service was top notch. They were slammed and our server was serving the entire outside area and was still extremely efficient and polite. Wine flight and charcuterie for $50 was incredible once we saw the pours and size of the board. Scallops were great and the beef bourguignon was one of the best I’ve ever had. Definitely go here for a nice dinner if you’re in Avila. No need to make the drive to SLO or Pismo.

The wife & I stayed in Avila for 5 days & had dinner at Blue Moon Over Avila Restaurant 3 out of those 5 days. The food is excellent. I can highly recommend the wine & charcuterie board pairing. 🙌🏼 The clam chowder soup is the best we’ve ever had. The beef bourguignon was amazing. 🤩 And if you are into salads, I’d recommend the Classic Salad Niçoise w/ Spanish Albacore. If the food wasn’t enough to keep us coming back, the service at Blue Moon over Avila Restaurant needs to be equally recognized. The servers were knowledgeable, kind, energetic, & worked so well as a team we felt like we had a whole staff waiting on us. Thank you to the staff & cooks for helping to give us such a great experience. We will see you again on our next visit.

Wow. We were lucky enough to have Angela as our server who made our anniversary night perfect as was the food. From the support staff to the owner this is a first class place. And the food was amazing too. Loved watching the sunset as enjoying an amazing meal. A must go place. Update: we came back to Avila Beach and had a couple of cocktails at one of our favorite places. We are looking forward to later on this week going ahead and having dinner again. Update Again: once again we stopped at one of our favorite places in Avida Beach to have dinner and of course they did not disappoint. The staff has always been amazing. The food has been fantastic and we will definitely come by again next year.

Beautiful outdoor setting for sunset drinks. Our server was friendly and informed, offering wine recommendations and gluten-free option, with panache! I would prefer to see Oysters on the menu as this is a French restaurant on the water. Though the service was slower than expected, the server made up for it with charm and conversation. The food is mid-level in terms of quality ingredients and presentation. I've enjoyed this restaurant for years--even had a wedding dinner here--, but the food quality has diminished. I would love to see more locally-sourced fish and vegetables with traditional french items, such as pommes frites with mayonnaise (thank you for the salad niçoise!), as well as creative food-wine pairings. I want Blue Moon over Avila to thrive because it offers elegance to a mostly casual beach boardwalk scene.

I really loved my experience here. I ordered the Caesar it had olives in it so delicious. I also got the lettuce wraps I really enjoyed that as well. Large portions I could not finish my meal. Service was excellent. I had just finished playing tennis and was wearing a skirt, I was offered a blanket and a heat lamp to keep me warm as I watched the sunset, and at sunset; a server offered alcohol free sunset shots. Was such a nice touch and everyone cheered at the sunset together. The restaurant is clean, and spacious.

I love staying at the Cliff Resorts and they are pet friendly! Marisol has delicious food and their staff is just as awesome. You can bring you pooch to dinner with you and enjoy your meal on the patio. The view is breathtaking and serene. If you are in the area, please stop on in.

I didn’t like my plate “it was too hard”….BUT THE FOOD ON IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! AMAZINGLY GOOD, tasty, fresh, well presented, great prices, and chef Nayeli the best, caring, professional, god gifted her hands, I can tell she puts lots of loves in what she does. But just to keep tasting my food I wanted to eat the plate itself too! I will definitely come back as soon and often as I can. Prices are great!

We ate there twice. Once in the afternoon, the other time for breakfast. The oysters were on point. French onion soup was good, just not hot. The breakfast served very large portions. Some of the sweet options looked really good. Large space and really good customer service service.

Went here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. I made a reservation way in advance, so getting a table was no problem. They seated us at one of the best spots with a great view of the cliff, which was really nice. The food was also great—we had brunch with a lox bagel and an omelet. They surprised us with a cake for dessert, which we enjoyed very much.

The view is so beautiful from the patio. Highly recommend visiting! Their “hash brown omelette” is not to be missed - they bake hash browns into the eggs! It’s delicious. The portions are also huge! Looking forward to my next visit.

The menu was limited, and the steak was small. It came with fries and no option to choose a different side. I was hungry but don’t really like fries, and there was no alternative :( The steak itself was actually good and tasty, just a really small portion. The sauces were delicious. The service was excellent, and the view was stunning. It was such a pleasure to watch the ocean.
