Carpinteria State Beach, located in the coastal town of Carpinteria, California, is a popular destination for those seeking a relaxing beach experience. It is known for its safety as the waves break far from shore and the gently sloping bottom reduces the risk of rip tides. Families often gather here to enjoy the sun and serene atmosphere. The area also hosts the annual California Avocado Festival, featuring live music and a guacamole contest.
We used the RV park and it was fine. The spaces are tight and on asphalt. Our spot was too far away from the power to plug in without an extension chord. A great location and view. Remember to bring rubbing alcohol for the oil that you'll get on your feet and shoes.
Flat T — Google review
A great location close to the beach and walking distance to the city center. Some spots are very small, be Mindful when booking. We noticed that the rangers were approaching RV's not obeying to the quiet hours. Much appreciated. We did notice many dogs without a leash and dog poop at several places. This is against the park rules. Being more strict on this would have been appreciated by us.
Michiel T — Google review
Beautiful state beach located within walking distance of downtown Carpinteria, great restaurants and low key beach town vibe. Day use parking fee $10, respectable restrooms, outside showers. Lovely dune boardwalk.
Loretta B — Google review
Really close, within 100 feet of a beautiful beach. Very nice. But the campsites are awful - basically the campsites are on a median between rows of cars parked right next to each other. Honestly, the ugliest campsite I've ever imagined.
Joe A — Google review
Our favorite beach! We've been coming here for almost 20 years. We love camping here, but it is difficult to get reservations. They have bathrooms and showers so bring your quarters. It is a laidback, safe, clean beach. Sad to see some of the shops like Robataille's closing.
Tiffany C — Google review
Bathrooms and showers need desperate updating. Tokens machines are out of order and some of the sites hook ups appear to need maintenance. Camp hosts answered questions and they were helpful and knowledgeable.
James N — Google review
Been camping 40+ times, this was our first experience on the beach. Loved the location, that's about it. Bathrooms are SO gross and old. Sites are pretty ugly but fine if you don't spend much time there. The biggest issue is PEOPLE STEAL YOUR STUFF AT NIGHT. No one told us this upon arrival. All the staff should remind the campers of this. Also there should be signs posted everywhere. BEWARE - beachside campsites in ventura area are not safe!!!! Sure lock it up but that still doesn't stop people from entering the area that shouldn't be there. We also encountered a drug addict/homeless camping on a day pass. Not safe.
Mallory P — Google review
This is a tent city. Families living in their tent or car with what looks like long term space. There is a loud train and loud children who cry all night dogs who bark in the campers and kids who sound like they are being hurt. I wanted to call police at least 3 times during our stay. We didnt make it to the beach they talk about because I was to nervous to get out of the van...look elsewhere!! Like another state...

Hamburger restaurant

Restaurant
Located in Carpinteria, CA, The Spot is a popular counter-serve eatery known for its delicious burgers, shakes, and fast-food classics. Despite some mixed reviews about the service, many visitors still consider it their favorite burger spot. Some recommend trying the chili cheese fries while noting that it's a cash-only establishment. Overall, The Spot is often described as a must-visit for those craving a satisfying burger experience in the area.
So very good. Had the double cheeseburger with crispy fries and a chocolate malt while my wife ate some of the crispy fries and a plain cheeseburger with vanilla shake. Perfect for a stop off between LA and Santa Barbara when you get hungry around late lunch. Very satisfying. Will be here again for certain.
Joshua H — Google review
The Spot is a community establishment and that generational love is felt in every aspect of this restaurant. The service is friendly and oddly personable for the brief minute or so it took to place my order. The atmosphere is immaculate as the shack feels out of time and right at home simultaneously. Locals have been coming here for generations and I completely understand why — something about this place is just so comforting. The cheeseburger, while simple, made me smile — I was genuinely filled with happiness while eating it. It is flavored with the seasonings that can only come from a well loved griddle. All the vegetables played their part to add textual variety. The chili cheese fries were good — especially during a gray beach day. Covered in melted cheddar and a warm, well spiced, and chunky chili, you couldn’t ask for anything more. While The Spot won’t knock your socks off, it is a simple burger and fries made with love, as cheesy as it sounds.
Gavin M — Google review
Super yummy burgers and tasty onion rings! People working couldn't care less if we were there but their food is worth it. Outdoor seating which means dog friendly!!
Martha S — Google review
If you’ve never been here, all I’m going to say, is that you’re in for a treat. And in case you have been here, let this be a reminder that if you order the loaded fries, it’s the equivalent to Carne Asada fries . This isn’t a compliant either, on the contrary, it’s 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 Last, but not least, if you’re reading this, you’re blessed. I hope you have a wonderful day, week, month, and year! Remember to practice gratitude and love.

Small yet mighty! Fast service with wonderful burgers burritos. Walkable from the Carp train station and the beach. Local gathering "spot" for fun eavesdropping
Candee G — Google review
Listen here, folks. I've had my share of burgers in my day, but this here burger from The Spot is somethin' else. When they brought this bad boy out, my jaw hit the table faster than a possum in a headlight. I took my first bite, and I swear a choir of angels started singin' 'Free Bird,' with juicy beef that makes a man wanna wipe his face on his sleeve and a bun as soft as a baby bunny's belly. I don't know what kind of magic they're workin' in that kitchen, but they're makin' masterpieces, not just meals. I'd sell my second-best hound dog for another one of these, and that's sayin' somethin'—if you're lookin' for a burger that'll make you wanna slap your mama, you gotta get your hands on this bad boy.
Ryan R — Google review
The food was good I particular enjoyed the location. Great place to eat at. There was one thing though, one of the cooks, very young, he looked about 20 . With shorts and a hat, left the little shack to go into a room in the back and then he came out about 2 minutes later blowing smoke out his mouth ?!? Seems a little unprofessional, I don’t believe he was on his break. Not tryna get little man in trouble or anything, just wanna make sure it doesn’t happen again especially with the kids around!
Mark R — Google review
A totally unassuming ‘spot’ that you may think is only a fast food joint. The food is good and my wife was pleasantly surprised about the shrimp taco! Give it a chance!

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Carpinteria Salt Marsh Nature Park is a 230-acre estuary located in Southern California, offering a haven for native and migratory bird species. This natural oasis provides a safe space for coastal birds amidst the extensive development along the California coast. Visitors can enjoy bird watching and take in the serene beauty of the park's diverse wildlife and blooming flora. The park is open daily from dawn until dusk, with free docent tours available every Saturday at 10 am.
This is not only a local treasure it is an endangered ecosystem that the Carpenteria community has been diligently working to save. It is one of the last tidal salt marshes in CA and home to several endangered species. There is street parking on Ash Ave with several paths into the edge of the marsh. Signs are well done and provide you with a true appreciation of what lies before you and why the marsh is so important. There are places to sit and it’s important to know this is not a full walk through the marsh…it’s fragile and endangered. It is more like a viewing area from several spots on the south end of the marsh.
G M — Google review
Trail is wide and flat. I enjoyed sitting and just listening to the birds. I recommend coming in the morning, birds seem more active.
Kristin H — Google review
Peaceful place! I went there with my friends, we had a good time for walking the trail. There was very fun! We saw many wild animals and blooming flowers.

Well maintained paths and grounds, informative signage and displays, and abundant and varied bird life. No admission charge. Enjoyable at any time of day, go around the time of high tide for something extra. Nearby street parking is usually available most weekdays.

Best coffee in Carpinteria. Amazing cafe to end a bike ride from LA to Santa Barbara County. Great drip coffee & cookies. The space is indoor / outdoor with tons of plants and plenty of seating.

I love lucky llama! Been coming here for 7+ years and it truly never disappoints. I stopped by the other day and ordered the breakfast bagel sandwhich and was so impressed that I had to write a review!! For $12.50 you get this GIANT bagel that includes egg, cream cheese, micro greens, bacon and cheese! The staff are always so friendly and welcoming! My drink was ready in 2-3 minutes and my food came shortly after! I would highly recommend stopping by and grabbing some breakfast and a drink :) their outdoor patio is so lovely. Thanks lucky llama I will continue coming back!

We come here every year, and every year they never disappoint! A wonderful little coffee shop. They’re always on top of it, even if it’s crazy busy! The avocado toast was a little difficult to eat, but it tasted amazing!
Allison H — Google review
You can say a tree lead me to discover Lucky Llama Coffee in Carpinteria, CA. The tree in particular is the largest Torrey Pine tree in the world. That beauty is roughly 125 feet tall and girthy at 20.5 inch circumference. As I was soaking in the shower but of the majestic marvel, I noticed Lucky Llama Coffee. The building is set a bit back from the tree. And luvin the stinky cute name and signage. The next morning, I dropped on in to Lucky Llama. The interior is tiny. The seating is mainly the outside patio. The line was out the door but it moved quickly. I ordered a Mayan mocha made with oat milk. Delicious. Ohhh it was smooth and creamy. Chocolatey but not candy bar chocolate tasting, more like quality cocoa. I sat outside and leisurely enjoyed my mocha. Again admiring the Torrey pine tree from afar. The patio had chill, relaxed vibes. It's dog friendly as well. The menu also includes acai bowls, bagels, muffins, avocado toast, bagel sandwiches, croissants, cinnamon roll, and cookies. They baked goods were all gorgeous looking and sitting pretty behind the glass counter. Open daily from 6:30 am-2:30pm.

This place is top notch! I’ve been going here for years, and will continue for many more. They have great coffee, and the açaí bowls are the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend. They also have some of the coolest colored merch I’ve seen. Keep up the fantastic vibes.
Nick Z — Google review
The bowls are the best in Santa Barbara County. It's got HOT quality coffee and also important when I drink my coffee is the sunlight hitting my body to wakeup. And it's got the best sun in town. Ryan is a pleasure to talk with also.

Laid back, great vibe and staff is super. The food is delish.

Matcha was beyond BLAND. Waited over 10 minutes for a “warm” almond croissant. I watched as it sat there in a toaster oven that was not even turned on. Disappointed in the service and the quality of items. Why would you give someone their drink without completing their order? I expected them to give me what I ordered so I waited until it became ridiculous. I guarantee if I didn’t ask for it directly I would’ve waited even longer.

I'm blessed to walk and enjoy these beaches almost daily and I'm blown away by the constant beauty! Seals, dolphins 🐬, and true " happy campers ", who always grow as families and friends. And the locals are some of the friendliest I've ever experienced in my many years living at various coastal towns in Southern California. From San Diego to Santa Barbara , Carpinteria and Ventura have the older ways still working best. The areas look basically the same after 40+ yrs . Still great surf spots without the negativity from local Surfers! The moto is basically; " just get in the water! " Doesn't matter if your surfing, body boarding, body surfing , or a swimmer cooling off, enjoy but remember to treat each other with a little love and RESPECT ". Also, great for families with kids since Carpinteria was recently earning the " Worlds safest Beaches" #1 honor. Not too shabby! The selfish part of me says to stay quiet so I can enjoy the solitude, but seeing all the different, happy people everyday helps me stay humble and grateful. You will be amazed at it all! ENJOY and always remember to keep the beaches clean and safe for our children, and their children of our future. Magical coast!
Rick E — Google review
Warning: There's tar in these pits! Parking: plenty. If you are a civilized, good and decent person you will pay to park at the state beach. If you did minimal research and you have a CA ID you know how to get a free pass to park. If you are a savage like me, who doesn't count steps or carbs, you will park in the near by city streets with plenty of spots and just jump over railroad tracks to get to the tar pits faster, because for all you know this is the last these ancient tar pits are in business. Preface: You drove here on untold tons of what is essentially solidified tar because they didn't clench your insatiable thirst for tar in its unrefined pure form. You are just a few miles from beautiful, prestine, historical Santa Barbara with her drive on pier, 200 year old mission, classy Spanish architecture, but you didn't care for that at all, instead you left refined St Barbara for gritty, blue collared St Joseph the worker to behold it's prehistoric, black, tarry goodness to what has essentially been an ancient trash can and death pit since the dinosaurs reigned. Being the town of the carpenter, pits like these would have been used by the Chumash to seal their boats for their seal hunting expeditions and trips to the channel Islands. Most of the tar is on the cliff just above the beach. The pits are a little underwhelming. Nothing like La Brea's. Here at least you can poke the tar and ruin your shoes with it. They have a few tiny ones that just ooze from the earth from the ground or rocks. One rock was oozing down the sides with it, at first it looked like some contemporary art piece an accomplished artist with a 1st grade education squirted black acrylic on and called it a day. The first mini Pit I saw I assumed at first was made by a hobo's bonfire but then I poked it with my handy-dandy poking stick and saw the tar in all it's dark, molasses viscosity, and glory. The sign I included said this was once an asphalt yard. If this park didn't meet your drunken tar lust, then by all means drive 90 miles south to the Miracle Mile and see swimming pool sized bottomless pits of your black gooey idol along with the adjacent shrine to its existence . Or better yet go to an asphalt plant.
Alan R — Google review
The view just beautiful! Seals 🦭, the rock formations... i love it. The marsh is full of little birds. Nice to walk and relax
Idear B — Google review
This is one of my favorite stops along the California coast. The seal viewing and tar pit trail are so unique and always memorable. My favorite time to visit is sunset or sunrise. Don't be surprised to see other wildlife along the way. And if you need a cup of caffeine, stop in to the Lucky Lama before you head to the cliffs!

Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve is a 52-acre oceanfront area offering hiking trails, green space, and scenic overlooks with views of harbor seals. It's an ideal spot for hiking, biking, bird watching, or beach walks. The preserve provides easy and beautiful hikes with an ocean breeze and allows leashed dogs. Visitors can observe seal pups while being respectful of their space. The trail connects to Bates Beach and the Seal Sanctuary, making it perfect for bird watching and nature immersion.
So relaxing to walk the trails along the bluff and thanks to volunteers they’re well maintained! No fee to park or walk. We were there during pup season so couldn’t walk the entire shore line but loved seeing the seals from the bluff!
Donna B — Google review
52 acres of open space. It's between freeway 101 and the Pacific Ocean. It has fields of wildflowers and native plants, eucalyptus grove of trees, walking paths that connect to the Carpinteria Bluffs Trail, and access to a low tide beach and seal rookery. Since the preserve is on a cliff, the sunsets are gorgeous. Catch the sun as it dips slowly into the ocean horizon. The colors melting into the ocean. Perfection. The access and parking to the preserve is free. FREE! You gotta luv that. Since the preserve is on a bluff, the beach is elevated below. So accessing the beach requires some trekking skills. Plus there are active live train tracks between the beach and preserve. Trains often run through. Always have your wits about you when you're near train tracks. And keep a considerable distance from the moving train. Next to the bluffs are ball fields with actual real turf. There are public restrooms there. I can't offer any additional info on those, I didn't use them. Both the preserve and ball fields have their own parking lots.

A great place for a seaside stroll, and your dog is welcome too. A lot of trails through the coastal scrub brush and some nice stands of trees, although you have to carefully cross active railroad tracks to view the surf breaking below the cliffs. All in all, a very pleasant place to spend some time...

Bar & grill
Padaro Beach Grill is a popular oceanside American eatery and bar located at 3765 Santa Claus Ln in Carpinteria. The restaurant offers indoor seating, patio dining, and picnic-style seating on the grass. Chef Gary is known for serving up multi-regional barbecue, including Texas brisket and California tri-tip smoked on-site. The restaurant prides itself on using freshly sourced ingredients to prepare their dishes.
Went to Padaro Beach Grill with my family for Mother's Day weekend, and man, this place was such a vibe. We got there right around sunset, and it was absolutely beautiful. The first thing I noticed was how big the spot is, especially for kids. Tons of space to run around and play. The line was pretty long out the door, but honestly, it was worth it. Food, straight up the star of the night. I ordered the Padaro Burger without avocado, made it a double, and got a side of fries. Bro, it was delicious. The meat was juicy, perfectly cooked, and that onion ring in the middle gave it the crunch it needed. Add some bacon on top? Come on. Can’t go wrong at all. One of those burgers you finish and immediately consider ordering another. My wife got a burger too, but on a whole wheat bun with a side salad. She said the flavor was solid, but the bun came out super hard after being toasted, so she ended up just taking it off. Still enjoyed it though. My dad got the same burger I did, and we both crushed it in no time. This thing is a big burger. Not just some little fast food joint size. My mom got the turkey burger like my wife and had it with some sweet potato fries, and she really enjoyed hers too. Overall, this place is a win. Great views, great food, and just a super solid spot to hang out and eat with the fam. Just be ready to wait in line, but it is totally worth it.
Mitchell N — Google review
This eatery is a casual laid back beach burger stand near Padaro Beach (aka Santa Claus Beach as the locals call it). The staff is great. They answered all my inane questions about the menu, all with a terrific attitude. I had the prime burger (minus the mayo and caramelized onion) , it was fantastic. So much so, I had a d'oh moment and forgot to take a photo. Zoning out enjoying the burger, view and vibes. The grill is a walk up stand that serves burgers ( including turkey and black bean burger), sandwiches, salads, fish n chips, fish and shrimp tacos, nachos, quesadilla, calamari, fries (two types), tots, onion rings, milkshakes, smoothies, soft serve cone, ice cream sandwiches and MARGARITAS. It's 5 o lock somewhere! And they have a kids menu. Lots of menu options. The seating is all outdoor though. The yard is landscaped giving it a tropical feel with big shade trees. But the weather is so nice and mild in the town of Carpenteria, seating outdoors in the summer is quite manageable. The ocean can be seen from the back patio. Gorgeous! But the beach is a bit harder to see and can't be accessed from the grill. Actually the public beach access is a further distance down the road from here; it's a walkable distance. Parking for this place can fill up and street parking is your other option. The place is geared to be family friendly and expected for the kiddos to run amok and have fun. If that ain't your thing, you can take your food to go.
Lillian — Google review
Great setup outside but food needs some adjustments. Ordered one fried and one grilled fish taco. These tacos are very flavorful and delicious but an absolute nightmare to try and hold and get a good bite. The tortilla needs to be bigger and very tough to get a bite of everything in one bite because of how high up everything is stacked. The fried fish one was much better. I actually got a 1/2 inch piece of bone in my grilled fish on my second bite. Rest of the menu seems like elevated bar food. The style of delivery is order and then pickup. Silverware is not readily available either and had to ask for some. The fish tacos did come with chips and salsa and the salsa was very good and good level of spiciness

This place is a gem! Do not miss an opportunity to stop here. Food is A+. Patio area overlooking the beach is amazing. Best spot in this area!

The atmosphere is so calm and peaceful. The food was amazing and drinks were good. You order your food and once its ready you'll get buzzed to pick it up. Its ready pretty quickly. They have a sandbox for the kids and a higher area for adults only. Very versatile for people with and without kids.

Fantastic veggie burger. Lots of fresh yummy toppings, and the patty was very tasty. Reasonably priced, especially since you have a beautiful ocean view from the adult only seating area. Staff was nice and friendly also. Despite all of the outdoor seating, no dogs are allowed except for service animals.

Seafood restaurant
Teddys By The Sea is a popular seafood and burger spot in Carpinteria, California. With outdoor seating available, it offers a relaxed dining experience with delicious grilled fish tacos and fried calamari. The attentive servers ensure that customers' needs are well taken care of. It's a great place to enjoy fresh seafood while taking in the coastal atmosphere.
We really enjoyed the patio dining. We took advantage of the Happy Hour options. There was a wide variety of seafood options but the menu wasn't geared to non fish eaters. We did enjoy the grilled fish tacos and guacamole and chips. My husband loved the clam chowder. Their Happy Hour margarita was excellent. We will stop again in the summer.

Teddy’s by the Sea is a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. We tried a few different dishes and everything we had was enjoyable. The service was also very good—friendly, attentive, and welcoming without being overbearing. The atmosphere was laid-back with a coastal vibe that fits the location perfectly. It’s a great spot whether you’re stopping in for a casual lunch or a nice dinner by the ocean. We had a great experience overall and would definitely come back the next time we’re in the area. Highly recommend.

Wonderful food and ambiance. The servers are always smiling and happy to help. Jose was great! We enjoyed the patio

We all definitely thought the figs and rolls were hands down winners. Crab cakes, meh. Huge fish tacos, definitely worth the happy hour price of $6 each. Mai Tai was pretty good and definitely worth the $11 happy hour price. The only bad thing I ate was the chicken sandwich, I had heard it wasn't great..so I tried it myself. It didn't really taste like anything. It lacked seasoning, and the slaw didn't really do anything for it. I had to add salt and dunk it in the ranch to eat it. Overall, I would definitely go back for happy hour to try more items and get those rolls again for sure

Very nice place with good selection of sea dishes, Italian style. Super nice staff, lovely terrace with great heat lamps for when the fog rolls in. Festive cocktails, good local wines. For dinner I had linguine with clams, very good flavor, only preference would be that the linguine could have been much more al dente. If it were me (Italian girl) I would have preferred much less sauce. I guess the people here like to soak their garlic bread, whereas in Italia we'd prefer no bread and just enough juice to cover the linguine. Clams tasty and just the right size. My mate had nice mixed seafood plate, again with lots of sauce and garlic bread. Overall we're happy and satisfied!

Very good meal! We stopped by after a walk on the beach nearby. I highly recommend. I love to cook myself, and can recommend this place. The food is made fresh, completely homemade.

40% of the plate ware and other items were not cleaned well. Food had great flavors and service was slow even the drinks. I believe the slow service may have been due to under staffing.

Cool family owned pizza place; They've got some brews on tap too. They sell impossible burgers here, which are pretty good and serve drinks with paper straws. Vegans got burgers down.

I remember visiting here a year or two ago and it was not as decorated as it is now. After a day of surfing I convinced my friend to get a pizza with me here. I had just come off the beach so I had jeans and my bathing suit top on, however I had an oversized jacket to cover. Right when I walk into the empty restaurant the server gestures for me to button my jacket as he said I need to "cover up". This made me slightly uncomfortable seeing as I was not dressed inappropriately and the restaurant was on the beach, I figured they would get a lot of beach goers and surfers. After we were seated we were one of 3 tables in the entire place on a weekend. The service was just terrible. We were brought bread that was so burned it was black. When we received our appetizer I found a hair in it. It took me about 5 minutes to flag someone down because the server or host wouldn't even look in our direction. When I told them there was a hair his response was "Oh, okay". He then took the food to the back where he told the chef and pointed at our table while they both looked at us and talked. This was moderately off putting. He then comes back and hurriedly says "The chef apologizes" and walked away. We were then brought our pizza which we didn't have any complaints about. It was overpriced but we were too hungry to care. No one came once during the entire time we were there to ask how anything was. After our pizza was finished for 15 minutes the host came back and asked us if we want dessert. I said no just the check. Our server then comes over and said he was sorry for the hair in the appetizer and said he wasn't going to charge us for our meal. I greatly appreciated that and told him thank you and even wound up leaving $11 for the pizza we ate. I was very disappointed with the service and lack of professionalism here. I hope our experience wasn't an example of their typical service. Unfortunately we will not be returning.
T G — Google review
Horrible service. 2 out of 9 meals were incorrect. One of our party simply got a salad because she was on a time limit of an hour and she didn't even get her food. Then the rest of us waited almost 2 hours for our food. When the two lasagnas and the one pizza they came out burnt. Two of the three Alfredo's had hardly any sauce at all. Our drinks were never refilled with out being asked and it always took forever to flag down our server. Extremely dissatisfied, especially for the inflated prices we paid.

We don't come here as often as we should. This is a family run, Italian restaurant, and let me tell you, they have some old family style secrets when it comes to pizza. This is a family friendly restaurant, with a wide variety of menu items for the kids to the adults. Today we split a basic pepperoni pizza (excellent), but in the past we've hada variety of pastas. This place is clean (bathrooms too), and friendly. Definitely worth coming to. ✔️

Esau's Cafe is a perfect dining spot that offers swift service, friendly staff, and mouthwatering food that leaves you completely satisfied. The cafe is known for its world-class blueberry pancakes, omelettes, and burritos.
I love this place! It’s family owned, and it reminds me of a 50s diner. We got the breakfast special, I had two slices of bacon, two eggs, and two pancakes plus coffee was less than $15! Our waitress, Bo, was very sweet. She looked like the quintessential California girl: Long blonde hair, and she looks like she surfs. Her mom was sitting at the counter and she looked like she had been a surfer girl in her youth.

Great breakfast, delicious Pain Perdu/Croûte dorée (French Toast)! After a quick stop coming from LA on our way to a wedding, the friendly blue-eyed server was really helpful with tips about the route to our destination. Great atmosphere, busy with locals which is always a good sing. A++++

I have two rules for choosing a restaurant. Actually dozens, but only two that are applicable to this conversation. 1. Any place that calls themselves World Famous is to be avoided; and 2. A good restaurant has both Crystal and Tabasco hot sauce on the table (at least back south anyway). If they're really classy they'll have a bottle of pepper sauce too. Esau's Cafe brags that they are World Famous since 1939. They also have Tabasco, Tapatio, and Cholula on the table (good alternatives to Crystal on the Left Coast) . These are contradictory signs and I wasn't sure what to think. I was greeted with huge portions of good, fresh food. The biscuit was gigantic. Their New Orleans Scramble wasn't bad (especially with Tabasco), and the home fries were perfect. The Breakfast Burrito was devoured by my better half. Well, only half devoured. It was huge! The staff was very friendly. Service was a little slow, but it was packed and the waitresses appeared to be overworked. The place is pricey, but not out of line for the area and location near the beach.

Hubs and I dropped into Giannfranco's Trattoria about a hour before closing time on a weeknight. The front dining area was empty except for a table of four. The owner advised us that we can sit in the front dining area but kitchen and wait service might be slow due to the back patio being full of customers. I appreciated that she told us and we decided to stay. She had a lighthearted sense of humor as well. Luv her wit and authenticity. We told the waiter it was our first time here. Hubs ordered a drink and the meatball appetizer (meatballs with crostini) but asked to be brought out for dinner with my spaghetti and palette (meatballs). The waiter asked if we wanted bread. We said yes. He didn't suggest this as an added appetizer. He just asked if we wanted bread knowing it was our first time here. But we found out later when the bill came that it cost $15, priced more than the meatball appetizer. So for first timers, if you are asked if you would like some bread, it's $15. The meatball appetizer crostini looked similar to the bread in the other appetizer, and I believe the same marinara. My dish was tasty. The marina had a subtle flavor along with the meatballs and spaghetti. Housemade authentic flavors. The menu centers on authentic Tuscan Italian cuisine. Simple fresh ingredients. I'm totally apt to come back and try other menu items. They are located on Linden Avenue in downtown Carpinteria, a few blocks from the beach. The parking is free street parking.

Visiting Santa Barbara and on our adventure we shared our table with a couple at a taco place. His name is Kevin. We already ate at Convivo and he recommended trying this Italian restaurant he hosts at for his friends. So we parted ways and later that day drove 10mins to Carpenteria. We almost drove past because it's such a small place on the outside. Kevin was there and led us to the bustling back patio. We were greeted by the owners who also took our orders. Their son is the chef. I was absolutely blown away. Bite after bite, it was the best Italian food I've ever had. Everything is made from scratch. Everything is made with that care you would take for a very special meal. Highly recommend for the tourist and locals alike. Not one boring bite! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful diamond in the rough with us!!

Loved this place! The atmosphere the food and our waiter Arnold was very attentive and cheery. Nice guy! Everyone was friendly and welcoming, were happy their very covid complaint. The patio is very nice and romantic. Now on to the food. Absolutely outstanding! The wine was very delicious too! We had the appetizer meatballs they were amazing. Our meal choices were Chicken Parmigian and Penne ala Norma. We loved our choices and overall definitely pleased. Thank you to this fine Italian restaurant. And we know great Italian food!

This place deserves a 5-star rating on all aspects. We had lunch there on a Saturday. The food was fantastic. My daughter had Chicken Picata and the chicken piece was of perfect tenderness and taste. I had another Pasta dish called 'Franco' with Italian sausage added and it tasted superb. I assume that it was the owner himself who served our table. He was very attentive and kind. They offer both indoor and patio seating in the back (with table umbrellas.) We chose the latter and felt very relaxed and comfy. Will come back.

Let's start with this question: would I go out of my way to come back to eat here? The answer is a resounding YES; and that makes it 5 stars for me. Really good authentic Italian food (not run of the mill). You could walk right by this place and not know it is there. Reasonable prices. Superb patio (reservations for dinner on the patio HIGHLY recommended). Friendly and helpful staff. Try the Ciao Bella; it is my favorite here.

It offers extended, peeling rights and attracts surfers of all ages. However, it's not just for surfers; non-surfers can enjoy the stunning panoramic ocean views from the excellent lookout point.
What a wonderful beach. We use it as a stopping point on our way to Cayucos. Not too crowded. There is a short, paved downhill walk to the beach. Great driftwood huts- lol. Our dog loves this beach. Clean restrooms.

It's a short walk downhill and the beach itself is nice but can be busy on weekends and holidays. I suggest going early in the day. There is a decent surf perch bite if you are trying to do some fishing. Over all a decent California beach in a great area. I would come back again if I'm ever in the area.

It's lovely. The walk down to the beach from the parking lot is easy. The only thing I don't like is the proximity to the freeway, because you hear the car noise and occasionally smell the exhaust. But it's not the beach's fault. It is beautiful.

When this point is on, it must be a heaven! I was unlucky with the swell (May) yet the little 1 footers were surprisingly punchy and fun for a little sess. You can access the point from left or right (there are carparks on both sides) but you have to walk around the private residential area of lucky house-owners (assuming mostly ex-pro surfers :D. Carpinteria Seal Sanctuary

4.6
(142)
Carpinteria Seal Sanctuary, also known as the Harbor Seal Preserve, is a rookery located south of Carpinteria State Beach. Visitors can observe harbor seals sunbathing on the sand near Casitas Pier, but it's important to keep a safe distance from these endearing creatures. To access the sanctuary, visitors can park at Carpinteria Bluffs Trailhead and follow the trail towards the old pier.
We had such a wonderful time at the Seal Sanctuary in Carpinteria! The secluded beach is perfect for a peaceful family outing, and we loved exploring the area. Our kids had a blast searching for seashells and watching the seals in their natural habitat. It’s such a fun and unique place to connect with nature. The short hike to the beach added to the adventure, offering beautiful views along the way. We could easily imagine this as a perfect spot for a secluded family photoshoot—picturesque and quiet. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing day out in nature! Heads up you have to cross an active train track, hike a bit, but well worth it!
Alejandro P — Google review
cool little stop on the way to our next destination. if I wasn't with kiddos, I would lace up some running shoes, snacks and a cold one and just let the trails take me to a cool spot to camp out and soak in the views. the actual sanctuary is just a small little perch you can view the seals and their pups from afar. there are other spots along the trail you can be super close on the cliff and view other seals swimming and playing in the general area as well. if you want to head to the beach too, there is a spot on the left side of this, although we didn't go but saw others and their dogs running on the beach. it's rocky so it's not a swimming type of beach, but just chill vibes.

Zhongyu P — Google review
Awesome to see sea lions in natural habitat. We are from Ohio so it was a new sight for us! Love that they are given this space as well. The trail is also nice to walk on and we enjoyed that on the way to the sanctuary!
Vickie P — Google review
I set out to view the Carpinteria Seal Rookery. Basically this is a restricted beach area for humans but where seals gather to hang out and live their best life. The viewing area is free, no charge. Before I go further I want to tell ya all that "messing" (includes physically approaching and intruding in restricted areas) with the seals is a federal violation resulting in $10,000 fine. Plus remember the state& local crime punishable by more fines and probable time. We all know how much the government is hurting for some extra moolah. So don't be a doofus. All right with that said, you can view the website for ways to get to the overlook. All paths lead to using the Carpinteria Bluffs Trail. Plus for the love of all that you love, beware of the train tracks. Those are active tracks with real live trains. There are no bells n whistles to alert you that they are a coming. The tracks are not set there for a photo selfie opp. Don't linger on them and don't use them as a walking path. The summer weekday afternoon I visited, the extended bluff trail viewing area was closed. It was roped off. However the hedge, along the viewing trail, was overgrown so the beach below was not visible from that vantage point. So I went back to the area before the trail viewing area. And there was a small area where the hedge was not overgrown to view a portion of the beach below. That portion was closest to the private Casitas pier. But on this particular summer weekday afternoon, I was unable to view any seals on the beach from my vantage point. I'm pretty sure some were down there though. I saw a few swimming in the distance. Then unfortunately I saw a great white shark do what they do. It made a meal of a seal or two. Not a bad place for the sharks to hang out. Highly unfortunate for the seals when they do.

The California Avocado Festival is an annual event held in October in Carpinteria, featuring a variety of activities for the whole family. The festival celebrates all things avocado with food, music, and entertainment. Visitors can enjoy live music from numerous bands, browse through arts and crafts vendors, and indulge in a wide array of avocado-infused dishes. The festival also offers a chance to explore the town's antique stores, boutiques, and restaurants along its main street.
Amazing place. I worked during the festival. There is always live music playing. Lots of people from around the world come to visit. Lots of beer too. Not to mention the small businesses in their tents. A great place for kids, the local firefighters are there and there is also a ferris wheel. I totally recommend going.

Great as always lots of avocado of everything everywhere. We come from the East Bay every year. There's avocado soap, oil, tea, smoothies, avocado souvenirs, t-shirts, sweater, beach towel and so much more. It's free entrance. At the end of the street there's the beach. When we come we park at the Carpintería High School and pay $10 per car plus they have a shuttle bus that takes you to the festival. You should definitely try the avocado smoothies they're delicious 🤤

The avocado festival is very similar to other events in the Santa Barbara area. It will be the same food trucks as the lemon fest, solstice, etc. I personally did not see a lot of avocado themed foods or activities. I will say that they did a good job with live music, there are lots of bands and stages throughout the festival area.

Very cool time seeing all the vendors, the huge variety of food offered (especially using Avocado), and watching some live music on quite a few stages throughout the area. Perfect weather and time of year for this event! Be sure to come early and plan to stay a while so you can score a prime parking spot like I did today, otherwise you’ll have to keep driving all around for a while and then walk a ways, or park even further away and ride a shuttle into the area. If you love Avocados and Guacamole, then you must check out this festival!!!

Cute little place with good draft beer at a good price, clean bathrooms, and food truck on the back patio. The staff was very friendly, and the environment was very happy as children and dogs were allowed on-site. They offer various artists for live music outside. Nice location near the train tracks and train station public parking in Carpinteria.

It's always great at island. One of the OG craft breweries. If you want a mellow, nutty, lighter beer, try the kolsch style blonde. It's hands down one of the best session beers ever made.

Very good beer and a nice, casual ambiance. I’d rate the beer above Third Window, which is a block away. Both are worth a visit.

I was exploring the area to get a feel for the vibe. The bar has a nice set up. Right near the railroad tracks. It's so cool to see the trains zoom by. Definitely coming back with my friends.

We are forever fans of Island Brewing!! We had our rehearsal dinner in the VIP room at Island Brewing & it couldn’t have been more perfect! From the first interaction when we were inquiring they were kind, quick to respond and made everything so simple. Everything was ready & set up when we arrived. The perk was their live musician wasn’t there that night so they let me (the bride) pick the music for the entire brewery the rest of the night…And their beer is fantastic!! Thank you for making our night so special Island Brewing!!

With all the years we have been coming here, I can't believe I haven't already written a review. We have been camping at Carpinteria State Beach for over 20 years and enjoyed coming here when they first opened and make it a point to return several times a year. We also make sure to buy some bottle's and cans to bring home. If you ever find yourself looking for an awesome craft brewery, you have got to give Island Brewing Company a try! Not only is the location great with beautiful sunsets, the evening train, beach and local shops; the beer and seltzers are yummy!! On the weekends most times they have live entertainment and food trucks. Sometimes they have other events during the year and they promote local artists. It really is a fantastic place to be and we feel like we are always among friends when we are here.

Right off Linden, right across from the state park/beach, right off the train tracks, big roll up doors onto their patio, food truck, live music…. This place has the absolute best vibe and great beers. My whole family has been coming here for years!

Corktree Cellars is a charming and rustic cafe that offers wine tastings, a variety of global dishes, and small plates in a cozy setting. The establishment provides an extensive selection of local and Italian wines, as well as handcrafted cocktails and spirits. Guests can enjoy warm and attentive service while dining by the window with a view of the picturesque Santa Barbara harbor.
What a find! Lunch stop on the drive from SB to Ventura. Steak tacos are legit! And the lobster bisque....I could lick the bowl. Extensive list of wine by the glass. Cute, warm atmosphere. ❤️

I came to see Jayden Secor and the music was absolutely amazing. I ordered a skinny margarita with Tajin from their full bar and it was delicious. I ordered the the Cobb salad and it was so fresh and filled with chicken, bacon in every bite but, that red dragon cheese was burst of flavor and made this salad even more tasty. I've been here before and I had the lobster bisque soup and it's so flavorful. I will be back again.

A Great Hidden Gem in Carpinteria Corktree Wine Cellars is a true gem tucked away in the heart of Carpinteria. Walking in you’re welcomed to a good atmosphere and a wonderful staff who make you feel right at home. The wine selection is top-notch and curated with a mix of local favorites and wines from around the world. They also have a good cocktail selection if I do say so. Great for a night out on the town or spot to eat for lunch! Open late on the weekends, one of the only spots in town to stay open past 9!

Thai restaurant
Siam Elephant Thai Restaurant is a charming spot with a vintage atmosphere and an option for outdoor dining. This restaurant serves up traditional Thai dishes alongside beer and sake. It's considered one of the best dining spots in Carpinteria, California, offering local and delicious cuisine. With its casual ambiance and classic Thai menu, it's a popular choice for those looking to enjoy an authentic dining experience in the area.
Food was awesome, service was attentive! We had the fresh rolls which were pretty good, Tom kha soup which was amazing (full of chicken and veggies) and the pad Thai which was also very good. I’d order the pad Thai and soup again. I’ve had better fresh rolls; the ratio of shrimp to mint/lettuce was off-needed more or bigger shrimp and less mint/lettuce. We couldn’t finish it all so we could have had just had the soup or rolls and the pad Thai. I highly recommend Siam!

One of the best Thai food experience here. Staff are very welcoming. They have limited seating capacity so better you call to book. Parking you can find road side. More details ~ @0abhishekghosh0

This is our first time here, and we came based on a recommendation from a local friend. The pad Thai was excellent, and we also enjoyed the fresh spring rolls and chicken satay. We finished with the delightful mango sticky rice, making for a well-balanced meal. There's outdoor seating where kids can relax, and the fresh air and breeze were fantastic! I highly recommend this place!amazing service too!

Will come again and again. The panang curry was good…and pad prik tai dam was also good. The combination meal with fried egg rolls, gyoza and something else was excellent. The tom kha soup was alright…too much coconut milk…prefer more spices in the soup. But all in all the whole meal was very pleasant. The food is prepared shockingly quick and service is impeccable.

Perfect day for Siam, great Carp weather, patio dining. I ordered the (spicy)panang curry w/rice, salad and veggie roll, shrimp, and dumplin. It was delicious!🤤 The salad was the only weak-link. I was expecting the peanut sauce dressing vs. the mayonnaise looking dressing I got. I'll ask for it next time. The service was super attentive to all customers. Talking with everyone, snapping photos, water refills, bussing tables, all go, no quit! Patio area has two large Thai-style tables on elevated platform (pictured).

Such a gem of a spot in the heart of Carpinteria Beach! Short walk from beach and main drag. Been here for years and looks to be thriving with takeout and dine in (great patio as well) . Service was quick and friendly. Lots of options and vegetarian options were plentiful! Our party had the chow main with tofu, the fresh veggie rolls, the coconut shrimp, and the walnut chicken, and the spicey basil tofu (see pics!)
Coach D — Google review
We had a wonderful experience here! The food was so delicious I didn't even take a photo. I had the special with cashew nuts with tofu (so it came with rice, soup, and appetizers) and Thai tea with coconut milk (so there was an option to make it dairy free), and my partner had spicy fried noodles with Thai tea and boba. The service was excellent and we were able to sit outside with our dog. They even brought him a water bowl and kept it filled! We would absolutely recommend this place and can't wait to come back!

Breakfast restaurant
IHOP is a beloved chain known for its extensive menu featuring an array of pancakes and classic American breakfast dishes. During my recent visit, I indulged in their delightful French toast paired with fluffy scrambled eggs and a steaming cup of coffee. The toast was perfectly warm and sweet, making for a simple yet satisfying meal. The service was impressively quick and friendly, enhancing the overall experience. Conveniently located just off the 101 near Santa Barbara, it’s an ideal stop for travelers along the coast.
Waw waw!!! Unbelievable American breakfast! Pancakes were delicious!!!

Stopped by IHOP for breakfast and had the classic French toast with scrambled eggs and a coffee. The toast was warm and just the right amount of sweet, and the eggs were fluffy and well-cooked. Simple, satisfying breakfast. Service was quick and friendly too. I’d come back. Location: right off the 101, just past Santa Barbara. Super convenient if you’re traveling along the coast.

Hostess was rude, she didn’t wanted to give us a table even when it was almost empty. I felt disgusted by the way the treat us. She wanted us to give her the 15% even if our party were for 5 people

Ordered PESTO VEGGIES Egg Benedict but the egg yolk was overcooked and stiff as a rock. When I brought up this issue, the waitress and greeter seemed unsurprised and acted like it was supposed to be cooked like that. I can only assume that the egg Benedict there always tastes like this. Full Disclaimer: After my request they remade the egg Benedict and the yolk seems less cooked. But they made the SPICY POBLANO egg Benedict instead. I didn’t ask for another remake because by then I had already lost my appetite due to their bad cooking and bad service. This picture is of the second plate, the spicy poblano, I forgot to take a picture of the first plate where the dish was right but the yolk was visibly completely cooked. FYI friend got the big steak omelet and apparently it was really good

If you don't mind raegaetton and Latino trap music playing while you eat no big deal. Waiter asked me if I wanted my $17 change on a $23 dollar bill. Very aggressive for tips. Food is beyond mediocre and bland. Not like typical IHOP. Salt shakers are also grinders not like the typical salt at IHOP. Surprised this place makes it and still open.

Day 3

For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Canzelle Alpacas. Not quite as popular as Carpinteria State Beach, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

I went here for my sister's birthday. It was such a unique and memorable experience. We got to feed alpacas, llamas, a water buffalo and a goat. I got to feed one of the older brown alpacas that normally doesn't like to be around people. We showed up early to visit the gift shop. One person in our group hadn't purchased a ticket and they let him buy one ahead of the tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and you could tell the handler really loves the animals. The alpacas were adorable and nobody got spit on. The bathroom facilities were clean. I would definitely come back. Great for kids and adults. I wanted to buy something from the gift shop but the prices were a little high.

This place is definitely an out of the way adventure - pretty out of the way from wherever you’re coming from, but it is worth it! The place is so much fun. You get to hug, kiss, feed these animals (in whatever order your heart desires), and more! They sure are funny looking animals and their sunglasses make it all the more fun. Enjoyment for the entire family, no doubt. And in the end, you have the option to mouth feed an ox! Use your mouth at your own risk~
Frank B — Google review
This was such a treat! If you love cute fuzzy animals, definitely allow yourself a visit. The staff are super friendly and the tour is so sweet, fun, and hilarious. The alpacas are just so damn cute and really love human interaction. We also got to see a couple of llamas, a goat, a sheep, and even a buffalo. It's a total touristy spot, but is absolutely worth the price of admission. You won't regret coming here at all and getting to feed the animals is just clean, wholesome fun for the whole family.
Kevin S — Google review
What a joyful experience! I’m glad we took the time to visit Canzelle Alpaca Farm. It brightened my day to meet, feed, pet & pose for pictures with their alpacas along with the other animals they have there like chickens, sheep, goats, a water buffalo, llamas, farm cats + peacocks! Our tour was towards the end of the day at 4pm in December, which was great because the farm has a great view of the ocean. We got to enjoy the sunset on their gorgeous property during our tour. The staff is so welcoming & kind. They were very happy & willing to answer any questions. The alpacas were so cute, gentle & soft! The farm is just 15 minutes from Santa Barbara & 20 minutes from Ventura. Definitely worth paying a visit! Looking forward to visiting again soon!
Alyssa E — Google review
An amazing experience with stunning views of the Pacific! The tour was warm, interactive, and informative—it truly felt like visiting family. Along with alpacas, there was a llama, a sheep, a goat, a water buffalo, peacocks, chickens, dogs, and a cat! The whole farm smelled like orange blossoms, which only added to my delight. It was the highlight of my weekend!
Marika R — Google review
This was such a sweet and enjoyable experience for me and my two children (ages 16 and 11). The location itself is lovely, down a tree-lined path onto a cozy, clean, homey fsrm. The hostess, Karen, and caretaker, Humberto, were warm and welcoming. The experiences meeting all the animals, was peaceful, fun, and relaxing. I hope that many more people decide to visit this special place...with the sweetest alpacas ever!
Michelle F — Google review
I booked this trip as part of my friend's Bachelorette and I give it a 10/10 experience!!!! The man who does the tour is so amazing with navigating the group on how to take pictures with the alpacas, he takes the pictures for us if he sees us a little tense with the animals (LOL it happens), and has the best jokes to pass time. The helper was super sweet and gave us fun facts that we didn't know about alpacas which gave us such an amazing experience now that we knew a little bit more about them. As for the animals, you get to know each of their own personalities... they're ALL so cute! I will for sure be coming back here!
KATHY M — Google review
100% worth it! So glad we visited during our short stay in Santa Barbara. Quick 15 minutes from downtown. It’s a one hour tour and worth every second. The owner takes you through the female alpacas first where you get to free them. Each person gets a bowl of pellets and spreads out to feed their alpaca. She then takes you through the male ones to feed with carrots. There are some llamas there as well along with a goat, sheep, water buffalo, and peacocks. Roaming around all the beautiful animals was amazing. Such personalities. We loved it! We were surprised how many Santa Barbarians don’t know about this place. We want to bring the whole family back!

Seaside Gardens in Carpinteria, CA is a must-visit for anyone looking to enhance their home and garden. This botanical paradise offers a wide variety of plant species, tools, pottery, bird feeders, and more. It's an idyllic sanctuary featuring exotic flora and fauna from around the world. Seaside Gardens in Carpinteria is such a hidden gem! It’s part plant nursery, part botanical garden, and you can walk around for free. They have all these different sections with plants from around the world — succulents, tropicals, Mediterranean gardens, even a little pond and some shaded sitting spots. It’s so peaceful there. You can just wander the paths and enjoy the scenery, and it’s great for taking photos. I got a lot of ideas for my own garden just by seeing how they arranged everything. The staff is super friendly too — they’ll answer questions or help you figure out what a plant is. There’s also a cute gift shop and a nice selection of plants for sale if you want to take something home. It’s a beautiful and relaxing place, and I’d definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in Carpinteria.

Really amazing gardens. I love how the different ecosystems have been planted out. You could really get lost in your head in a place like this (in a good way). The staff were all super friendly and knowledgeable. If you need plants or just want a garden experience stop here!

Seaside Gardens is a wonderful Botanic Garden. I really think it is a must see if you are anywhere near there. We found it on Yelp and are so happy we did. They have the nicest flat garden to walk on and you won't fall. They had patching stones. You will wind your way through a beautiful variety of plants from around the planet, some I have never seen in my life. They have old trees which are growing so nicely in this area. They also have a for sale nursery with a great selection. Now, it is a tad pricey, but they will tell you what you can plant where you live and what you will end up killing. The staff is just great. They even have a gift shop and that I found to be a bit too pricey for me, but it is super cute. We will be back when we are in town. It is just fun.

What a fantastic little seaside nursery. It has so many different zones and different plantings. They have wonderful fountains and it is a great place to explore and even see the horses. I highly recommend you take your children here to explore and pick out unique plants and containers.

One of my favorite nurseries. Beautiful and tranquil. A large variety of perennials, flowers, plants, and succulents, and even water fountains and garden gadgets. The staff is very helpful. I visit every time I spend the day in Carpenteria.
Karen P — Google review
They had exactly what we were looking for. And the staff was very friendly and obviously knowledgeable as well as in love with what they did. Linda was kind to call us back immediately with her inventory, and Elizabeth showed us all around and helped us to put together pots and soil and delivery and the olive trees we were looking for. It seems like it's a nice place to go just to walk among the plants too. Because unlike a lot of other nurseries, there isn't a lot of ugly equipment sitting around.

Such a fun experience! I was in town with friends wine tasting and we found this on Trip Advisor and booked last minute. Turned out to be our favorite part of the weekend! Our guide Camille was so nice, experienced, patient and spent extra time with us the beach. We took the sunset ride and it was incredible. Would 100% recommend and do it again!
Kara B — Google review
There are not many places you can ride horses on the beach in California and this happens to be one of them. Emma, our trail guide was absolutely the best. The horses were amazing. Great little trail ride in May when all of the flowers were in full bloom with so many different colors along our trail ride before getting to the beach. Group photo we have the two advanced rider horses Yeti and Rio from right to left then the intermediate horses Midnight, Rootbeer(the owners roping horse) and Oso on the far left their beginner horse. A mix of wild mustang rescues and quarter horses.
T H — Google review
We had a lovely experience! Camille, our guide, was super sweet and we could see that the horses were really good taken care off. The only thing that didn't meet our expectations, was the short ride on the beach itself (it was only 10-15min). But besides that, we really loved it! Camille let us use our drone to make some nice shots at the beach 🙏. Thx for the experience!
Shannen R — Google review
My girls had a very good time on the horseback ride through the hills. A nice guide. They also have some cute little cabin type rentals and a very nice lodge, beautiful outdoor swimming pool and the fragrance of the trees is wonderful!

We had an amazing experience! Our guide was super friendly and flexible, which made a big difference. We’re all beginners, but felt safe and well taken care of the whole time. The ride started with a peaceful trail, then crossed the highway and led us right down to the beach. The path was absolutely stunning. Would definitely recommend for first-timers or anyone looking for a scenic adventure!
Apple B — Google review
This was a lovely morning beach ride! Our horses: These horses were beautiful, obviously very healthy and well cared for. They were mild-mannered and each had its own personality. Having grown up with Arabians and Quarter horses, I am quick to notice certain things when I rent. Our guide: Shaeli was great. We were all offered riding helmets, if we wanted one--safety first! She was professional, friendly, knew the area, knew horses overall, and filled us in on the personalities of each of our provided horses. Our ride: We met inland a bit and the ride to the beach was pretty. The beach itself was occupied by a few folks walking and two or three other small groups of horseback riders; everyone respected each other's space. Two of our riders were experienced, two were beginners. Everyone felt safe and confident on their horses, and had a memorable ride.
Sabrina P — Google review
We had an amazing experience with Avery and Tess. They prepared with a lot of care and we came away with amazing pictures of our sunset beach ride. The horses provided were exceptionally well behaved and Tess even provided a bonus picnic since we had to reschedule once due to a fire in the area. I definitely recommend Los Padres Outfitters.

Tessa, Toni, and Lani are an absolute joy to work with. I planned my dream proposal with Tessa and it could not have been any easier. Tessa had amazing communication, planning, and execution. She made sure everything went perfectly and was a joy to work with. Toni was a great hostess/ wrangler, very friendly and great conversation starter too. She made sure we were always safe and entertained throughout it ride and gave us plenty of fun facts along the way. Lani was a creative and experienced photographer, was super nice to work with. The edited proposal photos came out gorgeous and couldn’t have asked for anything more. I highly recommend the Los Padres outfitters and their team for any event! Thank you for all your hard work and bringing our dreams to reality.

Carpinteria City Beach

Beach
Carpinteria City Beach, located at the end of Linden Avenue, is a popular spot for various water activities such as swimming, surfing, and boogie boarding. It is known for its gentle waves and has been touted as one of the safest beaches in the world. Adjacent to Carpinteria State Beach, it offers a relaxing environment with volleyball courts and ample space for families to gather.
gorgeous beach. very calm, relaxing, incredibly quiet place. lots of cute dogs, lots of dog poop. did my best to clean up trash and things where i could, but not a lot of trash bins out by the beach entrances. be careful walking near the dry sandy dunes, i stomped on a mysterious sharp object (driftwood/seashell?) and cut my foot pretty badly. the nice lifeguard lady at the outpost did her best. great place to hunt for seaglass and sand dollars at low tide. would 100% live here if i could, i’ve never been anywhere like it.

Very clean and relaxing yet busy beach, even for a Monday. Second time here on vacation and really enjoyed it.
Drj0007 — Google review
Nothing wrong with the beach. Easy to get too. Its long but I wouldnt say the beach/sand area is that large compared to others. So maybe that made it seem like Everybody and their mother was there on the day we went! Literally. So many people but it was fun! We rented boogie boards from a nice lady who has a small shop/shack right on the beach. Oh also there's tons of kelp. A lot more than I've ever seen. Some poor girls were dragging a mountain of it outta the water. The kids had a great time though.
Tash M — Google review
What a pleasant find. We went to watch the sunset. Place was not crowded. What a serene place for such a beautiful early evening. The only time we witnessed the sunset and moonrise happened the same time. It’s very close to downtown Carpinteria. We went back the following day the same time and had a little picnic.

Swimming was fun, but at some points were were literally swimming in oil thanks to those dumb tankers and it was sticking to us and the showers are basically useless cause there covered in sand
Liam M — Google review
There are so many rocks! The boat launch area (kayaks for us) was unsafe for launching and coming back in to shore due to the many large and sharp rocks in the water. On the shoreline, I could only dig about 4 inches down before it was a dark, ashy dirt full of fist sized rocks. The rocks definitely dampened our experience of what used to be a great stretch of beach.

Great area to hang and bring your dog. Towards the end of beach I'll let my dog off the leash. I've never been stopped or seen patrol. Lots of other dogs off-leash.

Robitaille's Fine Candies is a must-visit spot in Carpinteria, California. This family-owned candy store offers a wide variety of delicious treats that are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. Visitors rave about the quality and have been loyal customers for years. If you're a fan of candies, this place should definitely be on your list when exploring Carpinteria.
Friendly staff, And I love the candy they sell here (some old and some new I think). Everyone that I have seen in the week I stayed here in Carpinteria every single worker was one of the friendliest people I’ve ever met. I came in I don’t know I think it was Wednesday or Thursday and my Nana was with me and we were chilling and decided to go inside the candy store to get some candy which we did we bought quite a lot and this nice man helped us check out and did start a little chat with me and my Nana but that wasn’t the part that I think was very kind it was the fact that later on when me and my Nana were sitting outside the candy store enjoying the goods my Nana got a bit thirsty so I walked inside the store to get some water and the man just let me have it for free! Which was super kind because my Nana gets dehydrated very fast so not having to check out and rest a little bit more money was good. (water is an expensive but you know saving some money still.)

What a surprise stop along Linden Ave in Carpinteria! We bough candy made at the store - dark chocolate and milk chocolate turtles. Everyone loved them. The highlight for me was the Peanut Butter Fudge. It was so good I'd drive all the way back just to buy another piece!
Liane O — Google review
Loaded with old time favorites - Chuckles, Charleston Chew bars, Chunky and Honeycombs just to name a few. Add in homemade fudge and super pleasant personnel and you have a winning experience.

What a great little cans store. They have a wide variety of salt water taffy, sugar free candies, chocolates, etc. Still owned by the family. Very friendly.

What a great old school candy shop! Huge variety and you can watch them make fudge and chocolates. A must go to if you're in the area.

The best candy store. There is something special about Robitaille’s that makes it my favorite, not sure what it is (maybe the rainbow laces and inaugural mints) but I love it and highly recommend giving them a visit!

Such a great place, fullnof all your favorite kinds of candy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The ice cream service is still not open due to the pandemic. I get my husband their sugar free chocolates and they are delicious...I don't think you can tell the difference.

This is one of my favorite places to go when I visit Carpinteria, the workers there are very nice and there is lots of chocolate and sweets made in a room in the back. It’s always cool to see them in the process of making chocolate. They also have many other candies from popular brands and everything is always fresh. If I were to suggest placed to go when visiting, this would be at the top of the list.

What a wonderful venue! Our friends hosted a beautiful wedding in this magical spot. The majestic oaks framed a gorgeous lawn, and the internal spaces were well maintained. I will be adding this spot to my list of suggested venues in the area for a good time with a great vibe.

Beautiful, well maintained park! Perfect for parties, graduations and get togethers! Space for kids to run around! Bathrooms were surprisingly clean for a park and parking was enough for about 100 cars..

Our wedding day was beyond beautiful. Lions park was always in communication with me and my husband. The park is a hidden gem. I’d like to thank our officiant Jonathan Mulford. Thank you Jonathan! It was a wonderful experience and you made our day even better! Having you as our officiant was exactly what we dreamed of. You made the ceremony fun, positive and full of love! Thank you for guiding us through the process with the marriage license. We received so many compliments on the ceremony and what a wonderful officiant you are. We will be sure to recommend you to anyone who is planning their marriage! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! ♥️ 💒 🎉 @weddingofficiantjonathan

This is a wonderful venue. It is one of the most beautiful places for an event. It is in good repair, clean, well laid out. There is space for a band on the porch, a massive double bbq, ample picnic benches, etc.
A M — Google review
My husband and I absolutely loved this venue! It is absolutely stunning, with a beautiful “nature” and “woodsy” look that made decorating very simple since it didn’t really need anything extra! The indoor portion was perfect for the reception, but outdoors was gorgeous the whole time allowing guests to play Cornhole and horseshoes outside, and a ceremony that led up to the “natural arch” of the trees. Our band was also well shaded and plugged in under the gazebo. It was the perfect day for us! The bridal suite is also stunning; our photographer raved about how perfectly set up it was for her. I loved hanging out in there with my bridesmaids. Lions Park provides a lot of amenities too, which eased stress for us. We were able to set up practically everything the night before, making the day of nice and smooth. 100% recommend this venue! Wouldn’t change a thing about our wedding day!

Nutbelly Pizzeria is a lively spot offering classic and creative pizzas, Italian-inspired dishes, and drinks. Their menu includes sandwiches, salads, pizza, calzones, and pasta. Some of their popular dishes are the Rich Farmer pasta with fettucini and the Nutbelly Pizza featuring sun dried tomato pesto. They also offer build-your-own calzones with various toppings to choose from.
Fantastic food, great vegan options, and even better service. Staff is always friendly and super accommodating. Fun pizza topping options like the Avocado Fiesta.

Classic pizza. They are high quality. There’s nice indoor and outdoor seating. The pizza was made quickly. You can split a large pizza between two people. They also let you split the large pizzas half one type of pizza and half another. My pizza in the picture is the Besto Pesto and Purple Love.

The Carnivore Pizza was excellent, the thin crust was enjoyable and the toppings tasty. Additionally the beer selection was good and the service was friendly. Thumbs up all around.

I was cruising down Linden Ave. In Carpinteria and stumbled upon a GEM. This place sucked me in with the vibe and epic beach town boardwalk feel. I ordered "The Rincon Special" pizza and it really was so special. The combo of caramelized onions and bacon is a beautiful sweet and salty mash up that is only complimented and put over the top by all the other top notch ingredients.

Lots of vegan options although the only vegan cheese they had was the shredded Daiya, which couldn't be used for any of the other dishes besides pizza. The food was delicious and the server was attentive, although it wasn't that busy when we went. The decor was something to look at, with vintage bicycling photos and other odd decor. We enjoyed our experience and would come again

Thario's Kitchen offers a delightful culinary experience with its delectable food, impressive presentation, and contemporary menu featuring fresh and organic dishes. The restaurant maintains a home-cook feel while embracing modern trends. Their Gamberi dish is exceptional, leaving diners amazed by the flavorful sauce. The must-have items include their pizza and lasagna, both of which are delicious.
Thario's Kitchen was an unexpected find on our trip from LA to Morro Bay. It is a nice little restaurant with a cosy outside area. The menu is somewhere between Italian and French cuisine and quite varied. We had the shrimp and leek soup which was truly excellent with nicely blended flavours and tasty shrimps. Our dessert was a blueberry raspberry pie that was also very good. Service was very friendly and quick. We will probably not come this way again, but if we did, we would be back.

We stopped in for early Happy Hour dinner and were completely surprised and impressed by their excellent food, bevs and service. Ordered off the Happy Hour menu and tried the gourmet veggie pizza (thin crust) and baked Chicken Parm bites. Both were delicious and authentic. And at $12.50/plate even the portions were reasonably generous. We shared a full bottle of Chardonnay at $25. Prices were pre-Covid. Highly recommend the hot gooey brownie bites with perfect vanilla ice cream. Yum! The service was excellent as well. The vibe is great and the decor cozy and creative. We highly recommend the cute out of the way trattoria.

First of all what a cute street name this place is located on, Santa Lane. This restaurant had its own personality with the different decor. There is a table of Lego’s, games, and books and I thought perfect for a family to keep kids entertained with non technology fun or a great place to come eat and have fun with your adult friends too. The inside is cozy and the outside is cool to enjoy the ocean air. Our food was delicious. I must come back to try the other pizzas as they all sounded so good. My only negative would be I would love ice with my water. The sodas are served as a can so a little pricey for no refill option.

The food, oh my gosh the FOOD- from start to finish AMAZING! Every recommendation was spot on, just a sheer delight from start to end! We will certainly return! Grateful to have had the experience and enjoy all that was provided by very skillful hands!

Beautiful dinner out in Carpinteria…enjoyed a lovely evening on the CHARMING patio, soaking up the sun! Saw pics of their Shrimp Pesto salad and just HAD to come try it out for myself…it did not disappoint, absolutely delicious! Super fresh greens and a generous portion of yummy grilled shrimp! Good if you want to fill up on the cheap. My sub was burnt and the place was a mess. The pizzas ordered around me did not not look particularly appetizing. Not the best but the salad bar is decent. No idea why there is no soup AND salad special. Its ok if your hungry, I guess.

I drove from Los Angeles for these tacos. This is a CASH ONLY business. Crispy carne asada (beef) taco is delicious. They do lack meat. Wardholme Torrey Pine

Historical landmark
Wardholme Torrey Pine is a must-see for nature enthusiasts and plant lovers. Planted in 1888 by Judge Thomas Ward, it has grown to become the largest known Torrey Pine in existence. Located next to Lucky Llama, this majestic tree is a breathtaking sight and a popular attraction in Carpinteria. Its impressive size and beauty make it an awe-inspiring natural wonder that shouldn't be missed when visiting the quaint downtown district.
Another oldest tree within a couple of miles from the oldest fig tree in the world.

If you find yourself in the Southern California coastal town of Carpentaria, check out the Wardholme Torrey Pine tree. It towers majestically dominating the 5100 block of Carpenteria Avenue. It's the largest Torrey Pine in the world. Come by and see it for yourself. It won't be around forever. This tree was planted in 1888, it was a seedling taken from nearby Santa Rosa Island. It's about 130 feet tall, spread of 130 feet, and trunk circumference of 20 inches. Glorious beauty. Wardholme is named after the first non native landowner, Judge Thomas Ward. where the seedling was planted. Before European settlement, the Torrey pines were a food source for the native Kumeyaay. The Kumeyaay ate the edible pine nuts. Another interesting fact about the Torrey pine trees is that they are native to only a small restrictive territory of coastal San Diego and portions of the Santa Rosa Island in California. Typically Torrey pine trees only live no more than 100 years and get about 30 feet tall. So with those data points, it makes this Torrey pine all that special. See it before it's no longer. So glad I did.

The Carpinteria Valley Museum is a delightful exhibit space that showcases the history of the region. Its collection spans from Native American artifacts to Victorian antiques, providing visitors with a comprehensive look into the area's past. The museum also hosts monthly flea markets, which are very popular among locals and tourists alike. Along with beautiful displays and clean setups, there is even an opportunity for guests to play on an open piano.
My family and I live in Tarzana, CA yet our beach of choice that we frequent on a monthly basis is just over an hour up the 101 to Carpinteria - a wonderful beach community that we adore. Though we've been going for years, I never seem to hit it quite right to visit the Carpinteria Valley Museum of History... we're either still enjoying the beach during their open hours or we're there on days they're closed (like Sundays). Well... this time I was going to make it! I ended up walking there from the beach and caught them right at the end of the day! They are open Tuesdays-Saturdays 1-4pm. While donations are welcomed, admission is free!!! They have a lot of great stuff for a small historical museum, and especially for a free museum, you have absolutely nothing to lose!!! I really enjoyed all the rooms set up to look like the years of old. I enjoy antiques, so it's really fun to see all they have on display! There are items hidden everywhere, and I even managed to discover a few things the docent hadn't really noticed before! Bonus points for still having the retro linoleum my grandparents used to have in the 1980s (pictured). There's a lot to learn even for someone who's listed the area. I wasn't aware that Carpinteria at one time was well known for their walnut farming. They have one of the old walnut machines that is really impressive (also pictured). So the next time you're enjoying a beach day or beach weekend, check this place out! It's not a super quick walk from the beach depending on your activity level, but if you're in for a little walk, it's a nice, easy one. PS. Another hidden Carpinteria gem that is rarely open, but the kids will enjoy (that is literally right in the beach parking lot) is the Visitor's Center. Check that free attraction out too and feed some fish!!!

We had a wonderful visit to the Carpinteria History Museum. The docent-led tour was a wealth of information, made more personal when she pointed to a young boy in a large farming mural, revealing that he was her grandfather. It would be well worth your time to stop by this well-supported local museum.

We really enjoyed our visit to this little museum. There is a lot of history packed into a small building and the displays are interesting and well done. We had a tour from one of the volunteers which made our visit extra special getting lots of extra information. Worth popping in to see if you are in the area.
Annalise T — Google review
As I have said in other reviews, I love little museums. This museum is small. It is filled with the care and devotion of a volunteer staff that is truly devoted to the history of the Carpinteria Area. The docent led tour is so filled with history and geographical data that it can get overwhelming. Even in a small museum as this. For a few tidbits, Carpinteria has / had some of the best asphalt mines in the country, and the Indians knew about it and used it in making their ships and in their trading with other tribes. Carpinteria was at one time the largest exporter of Lima beans. The care in maintaining the artifacts is truly admirable as the descriptions of living from a time passed is laid out in detail. Great little museum. One of the volunteer ladies walked us through each section of the museum. She really added a lot of extra color to the history of this area.

The museum is quaint but full of history. The docent was very nice and had a lot of "local" history knowledge that helped us in our quest! The hours are a bit odd, but if it is open and you have a chance, go visit.

Nice original artwork by local artists. Unfortunately the gallery is temporarily closed or only open on special occasions because the owner is recovering from surgery.

Wonderful gallery that is a part of the Carpinteria community. The openings of new shows are fun gatherings exhibiting fine works of art.

Tea house
Nestled in Carpinteria, CA, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is a delightful coffeehouse chain that offers an extensive menu of beverages, including their famous ice-blended drinks. This cozy spot is perfect for anyone looking to unwind or get some work done while enjoying the soothing ambiance. Patrons rave about the friendly and attentive service from the staff, who seem genuinely happy to be there—perhaps fueled by the delicious coffee!
The barista was very friendly. It is pushed a little bit further in than the rest of the storefronts but its to leave seating outside. The atmosphere is great and the drinks are amazing. The value is good as well. Would have easily paid over $12 elsewhere for the drinks and pastry I got. Will definitely stop by at least once more before heading back to Texas.

The staff is actually quite nice here and the store is pretty nice and welcoming. Also the location is nice and theirs a good amount of outdoor seating.
Lucky E — Google review
Amazing drinks and very comfortable seats in a clean environment. This place has free WiFi (like a good coffee place usually does) and plenty of room. Their caramel ice blended thingy is sublime and the service is solid. Not too many outlets, but there are two that I know of that can be accessed.

The BEST Coffeehouse for sure! We go there daily, and what we appreciate is the Friendly and attentive service, the consistent great coffee, and very good Danish, muffins, or whatever is in the Bakery section. The Bakery items taste as if Grandma just made them! The organic protein bars are also a plus. Whether you decide to sit in their outside umbrella tables, or inside, you won't be disappointed! Awesome place. Much better than Starbucks. No extra charge if you want a large tea. Great service & they can suggest really great drinks for you too. Personable, happy, attentive staff.

A favorite spot to drop by and indulge in some 'coffee being water' ... A recent order of their 'Black Forest Mocha' was a real hit! It surely would have been nicer to enjoy .. if they could have kept both bathrooms in service .. "Out of order" should not be business as usual! Another star got dropped because .. .. on more than one occasion, I had a whole lot more ice and slush .. than I did flavor ...

Place is amazing. I love spending time there. Whether it be studying or just looking out the window at people go by I personally find it soothing to my soul. Its differently quiet, at least when spend time there. Walking in, I can feel the good vibes from the employees. Owners must treat them well, well, that or they are hipped up on some good coffee...lol. Wishing they would add a loveseat...wishfull thinking ; - ] Cant say enough about this place.

This Coffee Bean is awesome. The staff is friendly and the manager is gracious and professional. This Coffee Bean is FAR nicer than the one in Ventura where I watched the Ventura manager be mean to a couple of homeless people sitting on the patio a couple months ago. Shame on him.

Dang Burger

Hamburger restaurant
Dang Burger is a popular spot known for serving up delicious, hot, and fresh burgers and fries. The restaurant stands out for its fresh, made-to-order burgers that offer familiar flavors but with a unique twist, particularly the standout pickles. It's considered by many as the best place in town for smash burgers and favorite fries. The ambiance is charming, and the staff adds to the overall vibe of this local gem.
Dang Great Burger should be the name of this burger joint. It starts with the excellent patties and follows through with the onion, sauce, and bun. Each bite satisfies. The fries were thin, but not too thin, and had the right crispiness. This might sound weird but there was the perfect amount of potato flavor. The staff was friendly and the heaters on the patio added the some nice warmth on a chilly evening.
Grish240 — Google review
Dang Burger is a really good burger and fries. They boast grass fed beef for their burger, from a local ranch (Santa Carota Ranch has more details on their web site, in regards to their quality raising practices!), with a carrot finish! This gives the beef a great taste Exactly what we look for. I was a little disappointed though to learn their fries are cooked in canola oil as opposed to tallow. Unless you're sitting at the wine bar, it's 100% outside seating. It's close to the ocean, so the outside heaters are a plus during overcast days. This place is paired with the Sunburst Wine Bar which serves a mix of wine's and some real nice, choice local micro brews. Dang Burger's menu is short and sweet.

YES; Delicious smash-burger style eats. Also have hot dogs. I ordered the "Dang Hot" burger and fries. Comes w/jalapeno , special spicy aioli spread, grilled onions, American cheese and shredded lettuce. 🍔🤤🤘🏼🌶️💯👌🏼 The place was packed. Order and pay at the counter, get a buzzer to pick up when chow is ready (15min). Multi-Level patio seating, in a small space. Limited seating inside, about 10 stools at the bar. Got a couple of Mexican Lagers from Sunburst and grabbed a scarce tall tabletop by the handicap ramp. Between the burgers and bar, the place was busy and had a good/fun vibe. There was about 20 fine 🦊 hunnies hanging out with friends for drinks. It also seems to be a very popular dog spot.

Dang Burger is in downtown Carpinteria, CA. They share space with the Sunburst Wine Bar. I knew I had to check this place out since every time we drove by, the patio was packed. I did check it out and that burger sure is a dang delicious burger. When you walk into the building, Dang 's ordering counter is to the left. Staff are super helpful. Awesome attitudes. Sunburst Wine Bar is to the right. The outdoor patio is for all customers to use. All the burger patties are 3 oz patties of grass feed beef with the cattle carrot feed. That's what the menu stated. I don't know if feeding the cattle carrots makes the meat taste sweeter and more tender. But I do know the burger was delicious. The burger cost $9, not a normal price I would like to pay for a minimalist burger with a 3oz patty. The menu options are not large. They have a few burger choices $9-$14, a black bean burger (vegan) $14, uncured hot dog $6, salad $10, boiled peanuts $3, chocolate chip cookies $2, and fries $4-$6 that comes in two sizes and two cooking methods. Both method involves hand pressed fries. Then one involves deep frying twice in tallow; and the other is a vegan version. I had the non vegan version. Mmm. As I ate them, I had no clue how they were prepared. Delicious though. But I'll go with the vegan version next time.

Dang burger has officially become my #1 smash burger spot, and I’ve tried a lot! It is hard to find the perfect trifecta of thin cheesy patty, tangy homemade sauce and light vegetable toppings to balance the grease. But here, they have it all. <3 Sincerely A dang satisfied gal

We've eaten our way through a lot of burgers across California, and nothing even comes close to this place. Hands down, this is the smashburger champion of the state--no contest. We're locals here in Santa Barbara, and every Thursday is basically a holiday in our household because we know we're headed straight for burger bliss. It's become a weekly ritual we genuinely count down to. If you're reading this, trust the hype and treat yourself: get the Hot Dang, get the Double Dang, grab those crispy fries, and prepare for your burger journey to come to a delicious end. And just when you think it can't get better, every Thursday they drop limited-edition specials that are chef-level genius--bold flavors, spot-on ingredients, and always perfectly executed. Grass-fed beef. Top-tier ingredients. Laid-back vibe. Killer team. This place is burger magic.

As someone who considers themselves a burger connoisseur, this has got to be one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. If you come expecting a run of the mill knock off of a giant chain, look elsewhere. The color scheme and theme are where that notion stops. The burgers here are FRESH and cooked to order. The taste is beyond comparison. Yes, the familiar flavors are all there but what makes this place stand out are the pickles. Just the right amount of acidity and hint of sweet to just take this burger to the next level. The fries are also worth mentioning. Fried to golden perfection with the perfect amount of salt to not need any ketchup. MUST TRY THIS PLACE!!!
Chunky — Google review
Aw man you cannot miss this burger joint. Great fries and an impossibly delicious burger. Cooked onions, a bit of raw onions, pickles, shredduce and tomatoes. All of it masterfully crafted into a delicious cheeseburger. This place must be on your list. Great beer selection too!

Italian restaurant
Little Dom's Seafood is a charming Italian-inspired restaurant that offers a delightful experience for brunch, afternoon oysters, or post-beach dinner and drinks. They have a happy hour with delectable small plates and classic aperitivos, as well as different main course specials every evening. The restaurant is known for its fresh seafood, amazing fish dishes, and flavorful beurre blanc sauce.
What a little gem! Came here with some local friends and had such a lovely time. We shared some oysters and the rice balls so good... We had their bad hombre's cocktails again just so good! Then we all ordered an array of entrees and it was great for everyone. Definitely get the gelato with chocolate shavings chips!

We are so glad we found this little gem of a restaurant! The service was great and the food was incredible. We got the Fish piccata with halibut and asparagus and it was amazing. For an appetizer we got the wood oven roasted little neck clams and it was so good! This was probably our best dinner of our week in the Santa Barbara area! Definitely planning to come again the next time we are in town.

relative to this small town, food was good. i order the fish fillet burger, the fish fillet itself is a lil under seasoned, the bun is soft and tender. and the pickled vegetables were good. but it overpowers the fish. good service and atmosphere tho, when I came in it was empty

it’s a 4 out of 5 for Carpinteria based on the limited other options, but if it was in LA i’d probably give it a 3. reliably decent, but nothing exceptional
LuLu S — Google review
Anything but a “gem” as the paid reviews state. This place was empty at 6pm (bad sign) the service was good but the food was bland and so overpriced that I think a trip though a drive through would have been a better overall experience. None of the dishes are served with sides the and “fried chicken special” had one limp piece of boneless chicken breast made to look like a real piece. Temp in the restaurant is HOT. They don’t run the ac and crack windows facing away from the coast so they are pointless. The locals in our group didn’t like it and neither did the visitors. In a town where you’re seen as bad for telling the truth. Look for the real reviews!!

Service is impeccable. Food is delicious although on the smaller portions. Oysters were fresh! It’s close enough to the city beach and freeway exit. Outside seating is perfect in the spring weather.

Delicious brunch and cocktails with attentive service. We had the eggs fungi and polenta with shrimp, both of which I recommend. The eggs, kale, mushrooms, and pistachio pesto were perfectly melded in the eggs fungi. The polenta is a great option for big eaters; we could not finish it. Cocktails (Bitterino Highball and Bloody Maria) were balanced and paired nicely with our brunch plates. Service was solid.

My girlfriend and I went to Little Doms seafood for our six year anniversary and the food was beyond spectacular. The restaurant has a feeling of being very cozy yet elevated, understated refraining from any aspect of seeming pretentious cozy sea charm with great old accents. Staff was extremely attentive and caring, Chloe kept coming and checking in on us and was so personable it felt like we were at home. The Crudo was so fresh and lovely the crunch from the crispy garlic really made it stand out, accompanied with a chilled red we had 3 entrees and all were fantastic the chocolate cake was warm and melted in your mouth I really don’t think you can go wrong with anything you order here! Incredible

McDonald's

Fast food restaurant
McDonald's is a beloved fast-food institution that has been serving up delicious burgers and crispy fries for decades. While it’s known for its quick service, some locations have adopted practices that can be frustrating for delivery couriers. For instance, certain restaurants may choose to hide orders instead of placing them in plain sight, leaving couriers waiting without any indication of when their food will be ready.
It’s fine to not leave DoorDash orders on the counter so they don’t get stolen. But they are purposefully hiding the delivery orders so you cannot see that they are ready. They make you stand there in ignorance for 10 minutes while the order is getting cold. When the place finally emptied out I walked up to the counter and asked (I thought the order had probably been stolen). Most McDonald’s don’t do this. This is done purposefully to be mean to couriers. Not nice. 5 stars because I’m a service worker too and I can’t help show some solidarity along with my annoyance.
Say M — Google review
This McDonald’s was incredibly inconvenient. After a long day of travel, we were exhausted and just wanted something quick and easy. Unfortunately, this location didn’t have a drive-through, which was disappointing in itself. We had to park in the curbside mobile order spots—but with our phones nearly dead from being on the road all day, we were forced to download the app just to place an order. Even then, it was confusing and frustrating to connect the app to this specific location. We finally decided to go inside to order, and that made things worse. The staff member who helped us was shockingly rude—she barely made eye contact and acted like we were an inconvenience. Honestly, the whole experience was stressful and disappointing. If you’re traveling or in a rush, skip this location. You’re better off driving the extra miles to a different McDonald’s that actually has a drive-through and better customer service
Arthur A — Google review
They screwed up my order. Got the wrong drink altogether. Argued that I ordered wrong. I pulled up my order on the App and suddenly everyone's all nice. Order corrected and was allowed to take the mistake drink as well. I might go back... I have reviewed 100's of McDonald's most impressive thing about McDonald's is their consistency.
Chris S — Google review
I ordered McCrispy Strips, but they gave me 4 chicken nuggets. Check your order before you leave.
Fai C — Google review
The customer service was awesome older gentleman that took our order was very friendly and went above and beyond the burgers were good but the French fries were very salty 🧂 and didn't taste good oil was probably old and needed to changed
Ricardo C — Google review
Melted McFlurry, sitting on the counter for 5-7 minutes, lied and said they were working on it when my family and I saw it sitting there for 5. My grandpa got upset in result they laughed at him and made faces. Other customers were also not pleased with the service they kept getting orders wrong. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE TERRIBLE SERVICE!!
Willow C — Google review
Super rude service, their coffee is so overpriced. I pay 1.95 at the Santa Barbara location. Carpinteria is almost 4 dollars for a mid, not even a LG Togo cup. No thank you! I will be going to way point gas station instead.
Jennifer B — Google review
HOT & COLD! Although service was fast and good, food was cold👎. We asked for fresh fries and they were warm almost cold. Not very good 😒. Chicken nuggets were also cold and a little stale 😩. BUT, Coffee and strawberry cream pie were hot👍. They have a large seating area that was pretty clean for the most part, bathrooms were ok, can be a little cleaner, tables were clean, trash area was clean, floors, and soda fountain were clean as well. Overall had a good service with bad food🤔. It just goes to show how both food and service go together for the restaurant industry. Even for you McDonald's😒.
