Yorktown Battlefield, located in Yorktown, VA, is a historic site where General George Washington led the Continental Army to victory over the British in 1781. The National Park Service administers the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center, which offers a 16-minute film and a museum displaying artifacts related to the Siege of Yorktown. Visitors can partake in ranger-led programs or embark on self-guided tours to explore the fields and historic buildings.
Such a fantastic piece of history. Standing on the battlefield and imagining the war was a powerful feeling. The visitor center has a movie and a display with cornwalis items, Washington items, and many other artifacts from the war. The car tour doesn't have too much to see when stacked against something like Gettsyburg but the battlefield was still an awesome experience to hike through.

This was a history lovers Paradise! The museum of the American Revolution is fantastic! Water Street grille is the perfect location for lunch. Right on the York River. Coffee at the Mobjack coffee roasters is a must! Just driving around and looking at the old architecture is the most fun!

Incredibly beautiful woods. Amazing and humbling to be around so much history. One of those places that really makes you proud to be an American and greatful for the brave men who fought to establish this country.

Always offers a great perspective to be where major events actually happened. The N.P.S. visitor center held some interesting artifacts. The actual town was also interesting. Best to study up before you go.

Great for explorers who love walking to all the sites and museums. I recommend taking a the free trolley first to get an overall view of the grounds and then walking to see the sites.

Great way to learn about the history of the last major conflict of the revolutionary war. Not a lot of original fortifications remain but it's worth a stop if you're already in the area. Definitely watch the park video and download the audio tour before you start the driving tour.

Several tid bits here: 1. This is a FEDERAL park. Any NPS passes get you in. 2. The museum here is fine, but if you're in a crunch - see the Yorktown State Museum and skip this museum. 3. Drive the Battlefield loop to see right where the events happened. Yes, it's a big field, but the significance of what happened here is enough to make any one bow their heads in respect. Not to mention; several of history's greatest men walked these fields so to walk in the steps of greatness is awe-inspiring. 4. To our knowledge, you can drive the loop at no cost. You have to pay to go in the museum, but the stops on the loop were available to anyone driving along the Historic Colonial Parkway. 5. Be sure to at least see Surrender Field, Moore House and Redouts 9 & 10 - purely from their historical significance. 6. Kids 15 and under are free. Adults are $15 each.

This was a remarkable visit. It was my first time seeing different areas in this massive battlefield that decided the capitulation of the British forces to George Washington in 1781 that ended the American Revolutionary War.

The Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center, located within the Colonial National Historic Park, offers maps, site guides, and exhibits on the Revolutionary War's 1781 Siege of Yorktown. Visitors can watch a short orientation film called 'The Siege at Yorktown' to gain an overview of this historic battle.
Don't miss the ranger led tour here, which lasts 45 minutes. Our ranger did a wonderful job interpreting the battlefield and you can see all of the main locations from nearby the visitor center. Really brings it home how this place was where the American Revolution was won.
Larry W — Google review
The staff at the center were delightful and cordial at the check-in and provided us with a map and some information. The museum itself was a little disappointing compared to other museums we have visited. Seeing a tent used by George Washington and a writing desk from Cornwallis were the highlights of the museum. This is a ship built inside that you can walk through, but beware of the lower ceiling when entering the darkened area. I had my glasses on my head and hit the ceiling on the way walking inside due to the low light and low ceiling. Thankfully I did not break my glasses since we were on a road trip and I did not have a spare. We purchased passes when we were in Williamsburg, so when we arrived, we were just allowed to go inside. We were not told about any of the tours or even the trolley that went around through the town. By the time we realized what was going on with the trolley, we were already getting to leave town.
Our P — Google review
A must see as part of the historic triangle and not far at all from Williamsburg. The museum is manageable in 90 minutes or less. There's a short movie at the beginning which is worth watching for historical background prior to seeing the museum. Once outside there's a trolley service that runs every twenty minutes and will take you all over Yorktown and back to the visitors center for free.
Julie E — Google review
A piece of history all should come to know and visit. You could spend hours between viewing the exhibits, watching a 30 minute video presentation in the theater and drive the marked map to see where the battle took place. Totally worth the visit.
Rachel D — Google review
If you are a history, buff or looking for something educational and beneficial for you and your family, you have to check out this place. I brought my family here to watch the Canon firing as well as a demonstration on different types of ammunition, used historical facts, and we took the tour of the entire battlefield and ammunition sites. Go to the visitor center first to pay and get your maps and information military get your annual pass here for all federal and state parks. It’s definitely worth spending an afternoon learning about our history, especially in this area.

Great exhibit inside the visitor center that takes through the timeline of the Revolutionary War. As you walk through the "boat" the ceiling does lower so watch your head! Audio tour with an easy download that you listen to as you make way through the battlefield and encampments.

The Yorktown Victory Monument, also known as the Monument to the Alliance and Victory, is a striking memorial column topped with a Liberty statue. It honors the 1781 battle and peace treaties that secured independence. The monument features plaques listing the names of American, French army, and sailors who sacrificed their lives during the Yorktown Campaign. A trolley ride to the nearby American Revolution Museum at Yorktown offers a comprehensive look at this pivotal period in history.
Very impressive monument. We did the visitor center and battlefield trail. Very humbling to stand on the same ground where so many soldiers fought our freedom.

We're touring the Yorktown area on the self-guided Yorktown Battlefield driving tour and came upon the Yorktown Victory Monument. The monument's creation, while authorized by the Continental Congress in 1781, commemorates the 1781 victory over the British under Lieutenant General Cornwallis at Yorktown wasn't constructed until 1884. The monument is easy to access with parking available directly across the street and sits atop a rise with lush vegetation behind it and a view overlooking Yorktown River and Chesapeake Bay beyond that. Best of all, it's free. Enjoy.
Larry G — Google review
The Yorktown Victory Monument is a powerful and iconic tribute to one of the most decisive moments in American history—the victory at the Battle of Yorktown in 1781, which effectively ended the Revolutionary War. Located near the waterfront in historic Yorktown, Virginia, the monument stands tall and proud, offering visitors a tangible connection to the nation’s founding and the sacrifices that secured independence. Commissioned by the Continental Congress in 1781 but not completed until 1884, the monument features classical architectural elements and is crowned by a statue of Liberty holding a sword and a laurel wreath. Its base is engraved with key events, names, and acknowledgments of American and French alliances. The monument itself is not only beautiful but also steeped in meaning, serving as both a commemorative piece and a symbol of international cooperation and perseverance. Surrounding the monument is a peaceful park-like setting with views of the York River, adding to the reflective atmosphere. Informational plaques help provide historical context, making it accessible for all ages, whether you're a history buff or a casual visitor. The monument’s location also places it near other significant landmarks, including the battlefield and colonial-era structures, allowing it to serve as a starting point for deeper exploration. Although it is not reported to be haunted like other Yorktown sites, the monument carries a strong emotional and historical resonance. It reminds visitors of the cost of freedom and the unity required to achieve it. Whether visited during a quiet morning or as part of a historical tour, the Yorktown Victory Monument offers a solemn, inspiring, and educational experience. In short, the monument is a must-see for anyone interested in American history, providing a striking visual centerpiece to the story of victory, independence, and remembrance at Yorktown.

This monument is quite lovely and tall. Make sure you walk all around and see all sides. Also anyone in DAR Daughter of American Revolution can see the other dedications plaques around it. If its a beautiful day grab a snack and sit there and enjoy the Chesapeake Bay

The monument and the adjacent riverfront beach are my favorites places to visit and stroll around. The views are lovely, crowds are thin to manageable during most times. There is frequently a pleasant breeze, and enough greenery and lagoons to relax and take in the vibes.

This monument is quite spectacular and should definitely be part of a visit to Yorktown. I didn't know much about it prior to my visit but it's a must see!

I drove 20 hours from Texas the day before to visit historical sites in the area. This was the last stop of the day. A cool front had passed through, so it was cool and windy with a beautiful blue sky. With next year being the 250th Anniversary of our nation; I have been feeling more patriotic than normal lately. Standing on the hill near the monument, overlooking the water, and imagining British ships firing inland… wow. Beautiful monument.

Yorktown Beach is a charming two-acre public beach located along the York River. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along Water Street, where they can also explore Cornwallis Cave and experience the bustling Yorktown Market Days on Saturdays from April to October. The beach offers ample space for swimming in the river or simply relaxing under the sun, with opportunities for activities such as building sandcastles and picnicking by the riverbank.
Yorktown’s waterfront at Riverwalk Landing blends coastal charm, rich history, and relaxing riverside ambiance. With breezy strolls, peaceful beaches, scenic dining like Water Street Grille and Riverwalk Restaurant, and a dash of Revolutionary War heritage, it's an ideal mix of relaxation and discovery.

This is a cute little beach with a few shops and restaurants. It's small so if you're looking for a big beach, this isn't it. The area is clean and there are plenty of restrooms that are well maintained. We spent a few hours here and enjoyed it. There is a parking garage that fills up quickly but it's free. It was a nice experience for a first time visit but I probably wouldn't return after enjoying once.

Small strand great breezes and water views. Small nice local places to eat the pub has some good choices and ice cold beer. History, strolling town is nice too. Lots of activity in town, markets and fairs. It can get busy for parking, free lots and parking garage.

It's a nice place to visit and relax. It is a rich place in history and a a lot to see and learn, but if you want to play in the water is not one of your best choice, cold, in some seasons has jelly fish and some times smells lightly fish. But it's still a great place to have a boat hides. Boats are available to go as groups during several times a day by the small cute beach. It's an amazing experience. .

It's not exactly a beach, it's more like a river shoreline and the area is tiny. It's definitely a place for families with little ones to get away for the day. There is a restroom area, free parking, always good. Definitely not a place for teenagers or adults. This place is more for locals than tourists for sure.

Located in Yorktown, the Yorktown Pub is a casual and laid-back establishment offering a variety of pub-style fare and fresh seafood dishes. Guests can enjoy scenic views of the historic York River while indulging in locally caught seafood such as back-fin crab, jumbo lump crab, oysters, and clams from nearby rivers. The pub also features live music and provides a relaxed setting for patrons to savor their meals or enjoy a refreshing drink.
For starters, this place is in a great location in a historic area and right on the beach. There was some sort of musical event nearby when we stopped by. Parking out front seems somewhat limited, and they appear to be vigilant about enforcing it, so I don't recommend you park and go to the beach before or after. There are probably nearby public spaces, but we didn't look into it. I wish we had more time, but we were just passing through. The food was good. The hamburger was tasty, and they had ample seafood options. The calamari was on the special menu (should be a regular item), and I regret not trying it as it had banana peppers and Thai chili sauce which is right up my alley.

What a great stop after a day touring Yorktown Battlefields. The fish of the day was Halibut. The fried shrimp said it was hand breaded. So I was torn and got both! The green beans had some nice zip to them. I went blackened on my fish and it was delicious. The crab dip was a hearty helping and worth the price. I highly recommend to any tourist this low key stop. My wife took video of the noises I made enjoying my food! They are not publicly available at this time! 😉

It's been a while since we visited Yorktown. Yesterday we returned, and that means lunch at the Yorktown Pub. The pub is a local place with local seafood, a rarity in the USA these days. My wife and grandkids enjoyed the Bang Fish Tacos. The spicy sauce on the fish was popular. The fries were quite crispy and flavorful. I had a dinner of York River oysters. These oysters are succulent and flavorful. The oysters are also large. I enjoyed them a lot. I'm looking forward to returning.

Awesome place, highly recommend. Super friendly staff. Highly recommend. We had the window, water view. Very nice. We got the Boomer fish tacos, the crab cake sandwich, and onion rings. The fish was delicious. Tender and juicy. The crab cake was meaty and not a lot of filling. The onion rings were perfectly crispy. The green beans had a sweet flavor. Added salt then very tasty.
Deanna T — Google review
I would love to have posted a picture of the burger I ordered, but it was devoured before the thought could arrive successfully. The staff was very accommodating even though our group of 8 arrived less than an hour before the kitchen closed. I truly didn’t expect the service and food to be as good as one another. I can’t outweigh the better of the two. Thanks for a great evening for my homies and I

Experience a captivating sunset cruise with Yorktown Sailing Charters for a romantic evening on the York River. Enjoy a calming boat ride while witnessing breathtaking sunset views and taking in narrated tours of historic sites. You'll also have the chance to see local marine life during this intimate 2-hour sail. The friendly and knowledgeable crew ensures an enjoyable experience, whether you're hoisting sails, steering the ship, or learning about knot tying and local marine life.
There are not a lot of tours out there that cater to the littles… this was a lot of fun for the whole family! My two boys (6 and 3) enjoyed the pirates, hoisting the sails, learning knot tying and seeing the mini canon firing! My 6 yo loved the pirate stories and getting to steer the sailboat. The crew was very good at dealing with all the kiddos and there were adult beverages for the parents (for purchase). At about an hour in duration it was the perfect timing to go enjoy lunch at the Riverside landing or hit the beach afterward. Great experience!

There is nothing like sharing a picnic on a pirate ship. We gad such a great experience aboard the Alliance Schooner. A special thank you to the captain and his staff for helping to make our trip very memorable and enjoyable. We have done all of the different trips with them over the years and I can definitely say we have never been disappointed. Why go anywhere else when we can vacation in our own backyard. Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown has so much to offer. Thank you again for making this day special.

My kids were under the weather but they still enjoyed it - it was really a treat for this homeschool family. :) Be sure to bring a jacket if the weather is even remotely chilly. If we make a trip up here again, we will definitely do this again, too. Can’t recommend it enough!

I have sailed on the original Schooner Alliance several times over the past 10 years and always had a wonderful experience. Under new ownership the tradition of beautiful sunset sails with friendly and knowledgeable crew continues! We had an intimate 2-hour sunset sail aboard Serenity with just a handful of other passengers. Our Captain and his crew member were great company and made sure everyone who wanted to was able to raise a sail. We had a wonderful time and cannot recommend it enough to those visiting the area! We’re local so we know we’ll be back again soon!

If you're looking for good service, slushies that aren't overly sweet, and fried food done just right, Larry's is definitely worth a visit.
So glad we found this place!! Delicious food and really great prices, especially compared to some other restaurants in the area. Great views of the water from the relaxed indoor and outdoor seating. Nice staff and even more impressed when I learned one of the owners made the gorgeous custom wood tables inside featuring colored epoxy on electrocuted wood panels. Stunning. Now I just need to go back again to try some of their hard lemonade next time!

We had just finished the National Park's self guided tour of the Yorktown Battlefield and were hungry for lunch. This is a small town and there are only like 5 places to eat. They were out of french fries and were substituting small bags of potato chips, of which there were only a few left. They brought out the burgers and forgot the chicken tenders, which they then had to cook. We got the hard lemonade slushies, and they were good. For $80, we got 2 very mediocre burgers, 1 chicken tender basket, 3 small bags of chips, 3 small fountain drinks, and 2 small hard lemonade slushies. As we were leaving, I asked another table how they liked it. They said it was good, but overpriced. I wouldn't say good, but I agree on overpriced. There isn't any table service really. You order at the bar and they bring it to your table, but they don't come check on you or refill drinks. Since it's a bar, the songs they were playing had lots of curse words. I normally wouldn't care, but we had our 5-year-old with us and he kept pointing them out. If we visit this area again, we will try the Yorktown Pub that is nearby.

Loved this place ! The service was great! We had a ton of kids with us and they were so kind - our lovely waitress hung up their artwork by the kitchen and really was so attentive to them. The frozen lemonade drink was delicious as was the mix. Oh my goodness - loved it. The fries were amazing and my black bean burger was on point. The beach being across the street is perfect. Think we will make this a regular place for us.

Food is really good, can easily recommend the salmon, pretty establishment, service is a bit lacking. Sat solo on the patio and it took a full 10 minutes until I was greeted by a server, the entire dinner took over an hour for 1 and long periods of absence from the server.

This is a lovely, kid-friendly restaurant with a great view of the water! Friendly service and a variety of food and drinks for everyone. Service was fast and friendly.

The food was fine, the fries didn’t have much flavor. They looked better than they tasted. Server was kind and accommodating but something was missing. Lovely atmosphere, definitely ask to sit outside

I hadn't been to Yorktown Beach since I was younger so this restaurant wasn't on my radar to be honest, however the chicken & waffles were pretty good. Cool vibe right on the water. I'll definitely return to try other menu items.

Clean beach with nice sand and some ocean view. Kids loved watching ships and boats. Bathrooms were okay. It's a decent alternative to an ocean beach. Our kiddos enjoyed riding the trolley here! Pub nearby for when you get hungry, and very near downtown.

A very cute area to walk around, has some construction going on, so must be nicer once it's completed

It is a nice place to enjoy a walk, a nice meal and some shopping. The beach is right there. There is also a free trolley that takes you around. We had a delicious and healthy meal at the carrot tree cafe there .

Old town of Historic Yorktown where Liberty was won. The town has put a lot of work into developing a fabulous quaint walkable town with shops and restaurants and marina. Right near the famous battlefield and museums. Wonderful!

My husband and I went with another couple a few weeks for a late lunch. We had reservations so we were seated upon arrival. The atmosphere is really pleasant as it's not loud, it's rather quiet. The staff were very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable about food item ingredients. Three of us had the crab cake sandwich was one of the best we've had. My friend had a burger which looked delicious and she said it was so good. For dessert, I highly recommend the Chocolate Mousse, it's to die for! They make everything in house and it's quality food. We'll definitely go back again.

What an amazing experience this was! The restaurant decor is lovely and the view is so serene. Our entrées were phenomenal. My cosmo was crafted to perfection. Even the ice water was delicious. Our server Danielle was 100% on point and the manager Steven even stopped by just to make sure we were being well taken care of. 10/10 would recommend Riverwalk and can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!

The Riverwalk Restaurant had a very good cozy ambience with upscale quality and service, I really enjoyed my birthday dinner here with my fiance! I was checked on, thanked for visiting and recommended the specials and wines which were delicious. Good A/C in the summer and very clean. The steak was so tender as well as tasteful and so were the lamb meatballs. I would love to come again and bring my family. Everything was great from start to finish and we didn't need a reservation on a Sunday afternoon. Highly recommended!

We had an absolutely Fantastic lunch at the Riverwalk Restaurant!! The food was so delicious and came out nice and hot! Our server Jason was great! He was very attentive and very nice! Our drinks were also very good!! Could not have asked for a better view!! The lamb meatballs were honestly to die for!! Strongly suggest you try this place! It's worth it!!

This was an amazing restaurant! The food was delicious, and they had even some options for vegetarians (can make items without meat). Also want to mention that our waiter, Jason, was FANTASTIC! Checking on us quickly and making sure we enjoyed our meals. The pumpkin cheesecake is very yummy and the others loved the bread pudding. Would absolutely recommend!

Upscale yet casual restaurant on the river walk with some really excellent food and very friendly and attentive service. It was a Friday night (early June) and we did not have a reservation (granted it was an early 6pm dinner for us) and we were able to get a table outside on the patio with a beautiful view of the York River. The crab cakes were some of the best we’ve had because they were all crab and almost no bread filler!

We recently discovered this hidden gem, and have been back two times since! Dinner and Sunday brunch are fantastic, everything packs a huge flavor punch. Each time we've come the manager has stopped by to chat and ask how our service was going. I have a gluten allergy, the staff is not only knowledgeable, but willing to go the extra mile and get things like fresh baked gf cookies from the kitchen to ensure your meal is perfect. Can't wait for my next visit!

Riverwalk Restaurant now carries a special place in my heart. From the from the staff, to the food, to the atmosphere, this restaurant is top tier. We travel from Baltimore every year, and Riverwalk is the best restaurant in the area. The food was so fresh and fantastic. Each bite full of flavors and passion. Kudos to the chef !!! Morgan our waitress was so sweet and attentive! The color scheme in the restaurant is inviting and calm! Giving a chic vibe!! Of course the view is top tier as well. Overall, this experience has been amazing! Can’t wait to come back soon!!

A beautiful setting overlooking the river. However the menu prices are high for lunch. Burger $23, crab cake $26, 6 hush puppies $9. Add 2 glasses of wine and lunch was $90 before tip. I know this is a tourist area, but that was a lot for lunch. The burger was good but not exceptional.

A good brunch experience for all of us here. Team effort by staff & manager in checking in on us during our visit. The food came out faster than I expected too. I had the crab cake & shrimp sandwich and enjoyed every bite. My picture here could have been better taken - sorry about that.
Ed C — Google review
Overpriced for what they offer. We were there around 10:00 and had expected a "bakery" to have baked items but it was limited to cupcakes in a cooler. I wanted to go somewhere else but we were hungry and didnt have time to go be picky. The server was very friendly and said she could do a ham and cheese croissant even though it wasnt on the menu. I should have asked the price but assumed it wouldn't be much since it's just ham, cheese, and a croissant. So I ordered a ham & cheese croissant and potato salad. The croissant was ok, nothing special, which was fine. The potato salad was surprisingly bland. When I got the check I was surprised to see that my croissant ended up being over $18 because the croissant was an upcharge from a similar item on the menu. It was definitely not worth the price and I was pretty annoyed that the server suggested something without mentioning that it would cost extra. My wife said her quiche was good but also felt like it was not worth the price. Overall we were disappointed in how much our food cost for what we got. I would definitely not eat here again.

Absolutely awful experience eating at this restaurant. The coffee was stone cold and instead of getting what I initially ordered (Roast beef sandwich with horse radish.) I sank my teeth into roast beef covered in blue cheese dressing and almost gagged it was so bad.

The Beachcomber Restaurant provides commendable service despite being staffed by a lone individual who multitasks as the bartender, cook, and waitress. Their burger is delectable, although the fries have an unpleasant freezer burnt flavor. The establishment boasts a pleasant ambiance with an expansive bar section. It is a fantastic local bar that offers various recreational amenities such as pool tables, a jukebox, gaming systems, and numerous TVs for sports enthusiasts.
It's essentially a restaurant in an old house which wasn't the best, but also wasn't that bad. We got breakfast, and it came out quick and was delicious. My breakfast bowl was a little bit different than a normal breakfast bowl. It came with the sausages on top, which ended up being just fine. The cheese and hash browns blended nicely together, and it hit the spot. It was delicious, and I'd definitely order it again.

My only regret is not finding this place sooner !!! Absolutely delicious food, the waitress was delightful and attentive, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The military/historical Yorktown/American decor gives a deep sense of love and honor for our country and our local history. The restaurant is very clean, including the bathrooms. We, a parry of six, had the bugogi (more like stir-fry, but still delicious), blts, the beachcomber breakfast, and hamburger steaks. Everything was cooked perfectly, lots of flavor, steaming hot, and delivered to the table in a timely manner. We are very impressed and can't wait to go back !!

Here's what I love about Beachcomber: It's a humble, family-run restaurant where customers are warmly-welcomed and remembered. I bring my 92-year-old mother here about once a month, and Samantha, the proprietor, always remembers her and immediately brings her a mug of hot water, which mom needs to swallow her food (Samantha refills mom's hot water without waiting for her to ask, showing that she cares about her customers). We are a bit fussy, and they always accommodate our requests - bacon, extra crispy; omelet, well-done, etc. Each item is individually made to order and brought out piping hot. They also have some Korean dishes, which I'm eager to try. As for the dining room atmosphere, it's a cozy, nautical-themed room, spotlessly clean and SMOKE-FREE. Well, it's a tradition now for me to take mom here, and she's always so happy afterwards.

Immerse yourself in the history of the American Revolution at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. This multimedia museum offers a comprehensive exploration of this pivotal period in American history. The indoor galleries feature an impressive collection of 18th-century artifacts, while outdoor exhibits include a recreated Continental Army encampment and a Revolutionary-era farm. Costumed interpreters bring history to life, providing an authentic and immersive experience for visitors.
My family really enjoyed WALKING thru history. Our favorite part was the outside area. It is so beautifully done that you actually feel like you are in a different time. It takes about 2 hours to fully enjoy both the inside and outside parts. Partially paved outside and gravel. Works pretty well for handicap or strollers. Plenty of TOUR guides to teach you about life back in the 1700's. We also got a chance to witness a musket being fired.
Manda L — Google review
We enjoyed it. Its a nice compact small to medium sized museum with a mini settlement area. The cannons firing was fun. Staff were really friendly. Not super busy but we went at the start of off season but still warm. Id recommend it!
Meda W — Google review
We stopped on a Sunday morning on our way to Yorktown and were pleasantly surprised by how much the museum has improved. The historic objects are displayed in a pleasant and well-organized way, and the presentation style — with interactive elements, holograms, and electronic displays and tables — makes the visit far more engaging. The outdoor farm and encampment feel like visiting a second museum for the price of one. The staff, dressed in 18th-century attire, bring history to life with fascinating presentations. Special mention goes to the musket-fire demonstration, the medical station, and the farm kitchen — all of which add an authentic touch to the experience. The indoor galleries are already excellent, but paired with the outdoor living-history areas, the value is unbeatable. Adult admission is $20, and it’s absolutely worth it. This is truly one of the best history museums I’ve ever visited. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed seeing the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. The museum is filled with memorabilia from the Revolution and great video stories of the period and people. There is also a Revolutionary Era farm and Continental Army camp set up with guides to explain the surroundings. A very nice museum.

Really great museum with a lot of theatrical/movie elements that make the storyline events easy to follow. It's fun to hear about the battle of Yorktown right on the actual site! The layout is a large entrance lobby with a cafe to the right and ticketing and a gift shop to the left. Buy your tickets and walk down the corridor to see all the exhibits, then exit out the end of the building for an outdoor camp and farm experience. The indoor exhibits are really state of the art and outside are a lot of reenactors with artillery and lifestyle demonstrations, even folks working in the kitchen and on the farm. Behind it all is a large picnic area. The Yorktown museum is a sister site to Jamestown Settlement, and they have a lot of the same feel, though Yorktown is smaller than Jamestown overall. You can get a combo ticket for both and I think a ticket to include Williamsburg as well. If you buy online, there is a deal for access to Yorktown & Jamestown for a week for the same price as a day. Don't forget to look around the nearby beach area and the NPS buildings, and walking, biking, or driving along the Colonial Parkway connecting Yorktown, Jamestown, and Williamsburg.
Sara W — Google review
It was a well put together assortment of written documents, other information in the form of short movies in different areas among historical paintings and some antique plates, bottles, chairs and some furniture. Some really cool guns and statues. The real treat was outdoors! Super cool 1700's lay out of how troops lived down to the tents, camp site items one would have seen. They had a working dirt oven, and also a small village with working people describing what it was like and what they would be doing to keep the farm working.. very authentic! Down to their outfits! Even had canons and gun shooting demonstrations!
CR D — Google review
Well worth the ticket prices! Educational, Historical Fun! Great exhibits inside the museum, at least 5 videos that you can sit down and watch, one is even in 4D. Interactive exhibits to touch, read, and learn... Cafe luncheons, beverages, snacks on site. Also a well stocked gift shop. Colonial encampment, cannon, howitzer and mortar demonstrations, a colonial farm and house, a few work areas. Good mix of indoor and outdoor activities. One of the better history museums.

The Watermen's Museum is a fascinating institution dedicated to the craft and history of Revolutionary War watermen. It offers over a dozen exhibits that chronicle the maritime history of the area, from early colonial times through to the modern era. The museum showcases models of various boats, illustrating the evolution of watercraft used in the Chesapeake Bay.

This museum is a hidden gem! We were the only ones in the place most of the time while we were there and the gentleman there was extremely friendly. He explained to us a lot of history of the Chesapeake Bay and Captain John Smith (no, the real one) and Blackbeard and all sorts of other info about the area around Yorktown and the Watermen's history. All of that (and more) is there and scores of model ships that are made in the museum. Also, since I am in the military, I showed him my ID card and got in for free. This was a great experience!

Yorktown Bookshop is a unique and eclectic store offering an impressive collection of militaria, maritime pieces, Made-in-the-USA gifts, keepsake jewelry, and antique books. The shop provides a great opportunity to explore and find interesting souvenirs while also catering to avid collectors with its wide variety of items. Visitors can expect a friendly and knowledgeable owner who adds to the overall enjoyable shopping experience.
Yorktown Bookshop is such a charming little bookstore! There was so much to look at, with a great selection of books across different genres. Whether you're searching for something specific or just browsing, there's plenty to discover. One of the highlights of our visit was when my daughter found Disney pins—she loves collecting pins, so it was the perfect find for her! It’s always nice when a bookstore has a little something extra beyond just books. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. If you're in Yorktown and love books, this is definitely a place worth stopping by!

This place is a treasure hunter's dream! They have everything here, from historic trinkets, to photos and prints, to vintage and newer books. The prices are very fair. They once had a set of Fire King Tulips mixing bowls in pristine condition for only $99 and I'm still kicking myself for not buying it. The owner is such a friendly and interesting person. This shop is a must-see!

Wow. Come here if you have time to browse. This Bookshop is one of the best book and antiquity stores I've ever been in. I visit alot of bookstores all over the USA, this Yorktown Bookshop has amazing and very very interesting inventory. The gentleman who was working the desk was very kind and nice. The prices are very reasonable as well. Definitely be back.

The owner (elderly white man) makes it clear POC are not welcome. He will only acknwoldege the white customers. Super rude, after all we're all there to make a transaction. I collect math and physics books so I was initially excited to find an antique book store. I have come periodically over the past couple of years, fortunately only when the female employee was present, whom has excellent customer service skills. However I will no longer be bringing my buisness here, as I don't wish to support ignorant, bigoted ideologies. '2nd Charles' has a wider selection and in better condition, at more reasonable prices anyway.

Ben & Jerry’s is a renowned ice cream parlor chain based in Vermont, famous for its inventive and cleverly named flavors. The shop offers 36 different flavors and allows customers to customize their orders, including the option to have their ice cream scooped into a chocolate-covered waffle cone with sprinkles. Despite being on the pricier side, visitors often stop by for a scoop of their favorite flavor.
Had an amazing experience! Vibes and energy was immaculate, our kids favorite part of the day was getting ice-cream even after a tour of yorktown. The four ladies were fantastic, our main person was Emily and the kids all loved her and her smiles. Thank you Emily. Great job Yorktown Ben and Jerry’s! Price of course was. bit much but can’t complain since we were expecting to spend some anyway
Sonya W — Google review
Ice cream was really good, the service from the teenagers working there, was good. However the outdoor seating could really use a good cleaning. Tables/chairs and patio could use a monthly pressure washing. And no I don’t own a pressure washing business. Also tried calling earlier to see if still open no answer. We road our bikes there and tried calling from inside and I guess they turned the phones off, couldn’t hear it, and no one answered it while we were standing in line. Again service and ice cream was good.
Mark Y — Google review
The ice cream is always good at Ben & Jerry’s but the true flavour comes from the customer service. My family and I are visiting from out of the country and being met with attitude for asking for water was not on the itinerary. If we needed to pay for water, sure, but to give off attitude for even asking? The ice cream definitely went sour after that.
Snow — Google review
The ice cream was really good and the staff was nice. But it was low key expensive, it was $10 for a small cup of ice cream. Like guys!?! Idk it was chill tho
Ava F — Google review
Three of our big kids and I came in off the beach while my husband stayed outside with the two youngest and the dog. We were looking forward to a quick treat, but the experience was pretty disappointing. The shop felt chaotic and disorganized, and none of the employees seemed confident or clear on what they were doing. It was hard to tell who was in charge or what the process was supposed to be. We ordered single scoops in waffle cones, but the portions were really skimpy — barely a full scoop — and there wasn’t much care put into it. The cones themselves were soft, not the crisp, freshly made kind you expect at a place like this. For how much it cost, I expected a better experience. We love Ben & Jerry’s in general, but this location didn’t live up to the brand.
Kaycee M — Google review
Ordering wasn't too much pressure but it seems the employees are more concerned with socializing and whispering about customers than actually focusing on their duties. Definitely should work on their actual jobs and not focus so much on talking about people especially at the prices being charged for small scoops/cups. Definitely will go to a different Ben & Jerry's next time.

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Kiln Creek Park. Not quite as popular as Riverwalk Landing, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Park
Kiln Creek Park, nestled near the Newport News and York County border, is a delightful destination for families and sports lovers alike. This charming park features a well-maintained playground that’s perfect for young children to expend their energy while enjoying safe play on soft surfaces. Families can take advantage of the covered picnic tables, making it an ideal spot for outdoor meals in the shade. For those looking to engage in some sports activities, Kiln Creek Park offers a small basketball court and several baseball fields nearby.
Great park for all interests rather it be flag football, basketball or run and the sun with the kids I love the cleanliness and atmosphere of this park.

We love this park! It has a great location and there are always plenty of kiddos for my little one to play with. There are two picnic tables that are covered. A small basketball court and a few baseball fields near the playground. The only downside is that the bathrooms nearby are usually always locked. There is a port-a-potty , but it isn't the cleanest. Plenty of parking nearby as well. I believe there are a few walking trails, but we haven't checked them out.

Was walking my dog on a leash. Was warned by a middle aged white woman with bad makeup in a groundskeeper's truck not to take my dog off the leash or else I'd be fined. Literally not even 50 feet away a guy had his dog off the leash in one of the baseball areas and this woman couldn't care less. Ironic how people doing the right thing get warnings while people doing the wrong thing are left alone. That's why the entire park here is covered in dog feces. Groundskeepers need to do better.

Playground equipment, basketball and other sports courts, ball fields and just across the street is a lovely shaded pathway next to Wild Birds Unlimited.

What is the point of 45 min in and 45 out of the pool when they have multiple lifeguards on shift. We are currently doing a 30/30 rule for high heat. Doesn't make sense when the life guards just stand exactly where they sit and only 1 is out watching the pool at a time. The 30/30 should only relate to thunderstorms or if there is only one life guard available. Im looking a 2 lifeguards stand at the chair, one came from the entrance room and now both standing out here. What is the point of this?.....oh wait now there are 4 life guards standing out here.... someone make this make sense. They really get paid to stand around in a group and do sit ups while we all wait in 90+ temperatures because they can't function enough to swap out when they get hot????

Neighborhood park, short trails or a long one around the development. Paved trail around the housing divisions. Backs up to golf course, and around the small lakes. Roots and crevices/raised areas in path, pay attention. Nice walk.

Great area for kids to hang around and play, safe if they ever fall down because of the soft surface. My daughters love running around here with friend. The games are not so challenging, good for small kids and toodlers.

We found the Surrender Field of the Revolutionary War was a very touching sight. Standing and looking over the field we can imagine the jubilation felt by the visitors and the humiliation by the vanquished. The recorded message is very telling and there is a great collection of surrendered cannons and motions on display.

We had a great time at this location and park, despite the location being somewhat secluded and with no NPS park personnel nearby. We were able to go at our own pace and walk around the entire area. We found it somewhat strange that there were only a few other visitors who stopped, considering the historical significance of this location for the end of the Yorktown Battle. The NPS could take better care of the location. In some areas, the grass stood tall, showing signs of deterioration. It seemed like the observation area was taken over by the wildlife. We conducted our own research prior to our arrival, a highly recommended approach.

We enjoyed the history. We walked over 2 miles. There were fresh blackberries. We enjoyed walking the town, the virtual geocache, the Earthcache, and the cave info. The bamboo is the tallest we saw other than in Brasil. A $15 charge for the museum, movie, and drive the tour. If you walk there is no charge. The $15 ticket gives attmittance for multiple days. 85°, Sunny

This is a relaxing and reflecting spot to come to visit, take the little walk and see all the cannons, read all the information and soak in the history. Alot of people bring bikes.
Ali C — Google review
I'm a local. We use the battlefield to take long walks every weekend. It's great for bicycling too. There are some shops and eateries/bars on the beach. The rest is pretty much wild life with history of you know what you're looking at.
Brian B — Google review
Sadly the info boards are a little tired and the captured cannon normally on display had been removed (presumably for cleaning). Beautiful, historic spot though.
Matthew M — Google review
Absolutely wonderful place to walk. The main path is roughly 5 miles. If you add in the optional loops it ends up being 10.5 miles. I know because I did that today. 😊 Update 01/19/2021: It seems that only dog owners are required to clean up after their companions here. It is amazing how much horse poo is on the path now. It is a shame there isn't more respect for this wonderful trail. If you are in a car, you are okay. If you are walking or running you need to keep your eyes open. Shameful.

This is an eerily peaceful place. There’s lots of information here and they have some old British artillery gained by the Continental army.

Moore House, a historical site with well-maintained grounds, showcases an impressive design. Despite some areas around the chimneys suffering from water damage, the overall condition of the house remains good. The significance of its location in concluding the Revolutionary War adds to its appeal. It is unfortunate that Union soldiers showed disrespect towards this iconic home. Visitors will find multiple reasons to visit, including the picturesque setting with trees, ocean views, and abundant wildlife such as deer.
A great location on the battlefield known as the Surrender House, where the paperwork was signed to end hostilities. When you walk around, you get a rush of history knowing the prolific event that took place there. The day I was there, it was not open; but it was still great to walk around the grounds.

It was lovely bc we met a reenactor from Illinois who was in full garbage on his honeymoon. We have a pic of him in front of moore house

This location was on our list of historical places we wanted to visit during our trip to Yorktown. We were extremely disappointed to find that the building was closed and there was nobody around to explain the location. Since this location is an NPS site, it should be open. Nothing on the NPS website stated that the location was closed and that you are not able to go into the house. How would someone know this, especially if they are traveling hundreds of miles to the location?
Our P — Google review
Another historical site on Yorktown battlefield tour. The house looks charming but requires maintenance. Backyard open space with huge trees show years of growth and history. Front fence overlooking York River water. Worth stopping by.
Susan D — Google review
Possible Family relative and still researching geology. Self guided tour. Grounds kept up. House overall good shape but areas around chimneys have bad water damage and need repair. Love the design of the home. Great relation of the location in ending the Revolutionary War. Shame Union soldiers disrespected the home. Worth the visit for many reasons.
Rodney I — Google review
Lovely location away from the Yorktown Battlefield. It is significant in that the surrender of the British happened here. The house had been through 50 owners and fallen into severe disrepair before the National Parks purchased the property and did a restoration. Beautiful grounds and worth the extra drive to find and enjoy some solitude.
Mike S — Google review
This is worth it. Great history and the house is in fantastic shape. I certainly take my hat off to the farmer who allowed his home to be used for this historic surrender and I'm grateful for those who have taken care of this place over the many years so my family and I could step where great leaders once stood.

The home where Washington and Cornwallis talked over a peaceful surrender. Restored/preserved (not sure which term in this case) and near several sites as part of a walking/driving tour with monuments, sites, fortifications, and even local fauna like sika deer.

Nelson House, also known as the "canon ball house," is a historic site located on Historic Main Street in Yorktown. The house, dating back to 1730, still bears scars from the 1781 bombardment and played a significant role during the siege of Yorktown. It was once home to Thomas Nelson, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and former Governor. Visitors can explore its gardens and learn about its history through knowledgeable guides.
We were lucky today, because it was opened today and finally we have seen the house inside. Very good carried, it has good condition. There are many windows so it's enough light inside. Very high ceilings add to the space. Mahogany furniture was kept in the room under the stairs. In one room, historical notes about Nelson's family and his participation in the fate of America are collected. The house is worth a look and inside we were met by a security guard who enthusiastically told us the history of this attractive house.

Yet another NPS location in Yorktown that was closed! Is the National Park Service having some funding issues, and can they not supply enough people to be at these historical locations that they manage? The website of NPS states that the building would be open for tours on the first floor, provided there is staff available. We traveled to Yorktown from northeast Ohio and found most of the locations in Yorktown managed by the NPS to be closed, and we had purchased passes to all of these locations. Yet, we found the buildings locked up and nobody around. Why?
Our P — Google review
Didn't get to see the inside. It was cool seeing the cannonball stuck in the side of the home but then I come to find that it is rebuilt and not original. So that kind of takes away from the authenticity in my mind. Didn't get to see the inside so I'm leaving two stars instead of one because that could have been awesome.
Dani B — Google review
I haven’t visited yet but I’m from the Nelson family lineage and my whole family still lives in the area!! My father went to see it a few years ago!! Beautiful.

What an incredible place to visit while touring Yorktown. Some of the more prominent local names were here. What was once a house and hospital is now a site to be seen! Cannonballs are imprinted into multiple places on the side of this house. Truly a neat place to see!

General Thomas Nelson - a hero of the Revolutionary War. His house, along with several other nearby buildings and monuments, are preserved for tours and visits. On one side there are still preserved cannonballs embedded in the side from the fighting.

Cornwallis' Cave

Landmark
Located on Water Street, Cornwallis' Cave is a small cave with a gated entrance that has sparked legends about its use by British General Cornwallis during the Battle of Yorktown. However, historical research suggests that it was actually used for potato storage in early colonial times and later for munition storage by the Confederates during the Civil War. Despite misconceptions, the cave's exterior bears notches from its military fortification by the Confederates.
Area is so rich in Revolutionary history. Area attractions are well marked. Park service personal extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely coming back in the summer. Plan to camp and make multiple day trips to see things we missed today.
Greg H — Google review
If you walk by, take a look. Do not go out of your way to visit the cave. Located across the street from the free fishing pier at Yorktown beach.
Sally M — Google review
We only drove down to see the cave since there were reported paranormal claims. You are not able to go inside, and it is extremely shallow any ways. If you are in the area, at the beach, stop and take a look. Apart from that, there's nothing particularly noteworthy. I'm sure it makes for an interesting story during a ghost walk; however, just to stop during the daytime was somewhat uneventful. Luckily, we hit an open parking spot for our 10-minute stop.
Our P — Google review
Went as a group without a guide. I'm not sure if there were any available or if it was an option. Just a shallow cave. With bars across thw entrance. The history about it is interesting. And the view looking out over the water is pretty.
Nikki E — Google review
On the left-hand side, when entering the beach area. 4 spots for 10 minutes of parking in the front. Small cave for storing provisions would not be worth visiting just to see the cave. Nice location close to the beach for sunbathing. Little dirty. Guests should not be littering.
Rusty W — Google review
Not anything significant to see. It’s a hole in the rock with bars in front. It’s got graffiti and garbage and smells like campfire and pot. The history around it is pretty cool. And the picnic area and walkway around it specifically is beautiful. Stop by here if you’re walking the historic Tobacco Road or scenic waterline; but don’t come here just for this.
Stacy B — Google review
It's important to read up on the misconceptions regarding this landmark (in that it was likely only used for food crop storage prior to the Civil War, and that Cornwallis likely used Nelson House to seek refuge which would explain all the interesting "character" the house has acquired from that time period.) The notches in the cave exterior is the result of it being used for military purposes in which it was fortified for the Confederates. Still an interesting landmark in spite of the misnomer.
Ryan P — Google review
Historic title for a slight hole in the hill. Yorktown is a delightful place to learn about the last significant battle of the Revolutionary War. The town council has done an impressive redo and restoration of the waterfront. It's a happening place wih quaint shops and yummy eateries. Swim in the Chesapeake. Take a trip on one of the reproduction ships. Ride the historic route our war heroes marched. The battlefields are well marked. See you there!!

Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters and Petite Cafe is a charming spot known for its exceptional quality coffee. Founded by Jo and Celeste Gucanac in 2007, the roastery takes pride in roasting high-quality coffee from around the world, offering well-balanced, flavorful, and smooth coffees with unique roasting profiles. The cafe also serves delightful bakery items and offers a choice of dining outside on picnic tables or upstairs in a historic building dating back to 1720.
Meeting a friend for coffee on a recent morning, I wanted something different not the national chain experience. So to google maps I go coffee shops Yorktown VA. And I’m pleasantly surprised with Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters so I share the location with my friend and plans are made for coffee the next morning. All I can say is, I’ll have to return when I have a full day. Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters is housed in a historic building on the Yorktown Battlefield so if you’re a history buff or American Revolutionary War aficionado plan wisely. However back to Mobjack Bay CR They have a wonderful selection of coffees and a house roaster. They were not roasting the morning I was there, but I’m certain it is heavenly for any coffee lovers to walk through the compact coffee shop as the coffee beans scent the entire building. Along with the coffees, a selection of teas, and cold drinks are available and a display case of beautiful backed pastries. A petite light menu is also available. In the roaster room and throughout the first floor are many gift items available for purchase. Seating is upstairs or outside taking advantage of every single space available. The outside space is to the sidesnd rear of the building, under a lovely little grove of shade trees. So if you want a little more of a destination maybe the perfect place for a small group of friends who are looking for an interesting place to have a fun afternoon of coffee and a game of cards or the perfect backdrop to enjoy a game or two of chess or checkers and a nice beverage. Try Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters and stroll through some of early American, and Virginia history.

Burrito has been here a few times now, and finds it to be quite the picturesque spot for coffee in Yorktown when the weather is nice. However, parking is a whole situation, as the road on the side, adjacent to the building, is closed to street traffic and there is no parking on the other street immediately next to the building. You have to park in a lot a few blocks down, which is sometimes a bit full depending on the weather. This is a place to go and sit outside when the weather is nice. The picnic tables with tree cover are divine. I find the coffee to be quite good and the food also. Don’t be afraid to try whatever the special is, that is usually the best thing to have. It is a historic building, which means old and creaky with narrow stairs. If you have to sit indoors, you have to go upstairs or can wait in what amounts to the entryway downstairs for to go items.

This is such a cute coffee spot in the middle of historic Yorktown. It’s so quaint and feels cozy. I had a lavender mocha latte that was delicious. They have fresh made pastries and plenty of options for lunch. It’s neat to see them roast their coffee beans on site too. You can sit upstairs in a cozy old nook or outside in their grassy back yard. Great coffee, great service, and a nice atmosphere.

What a gem! Imagine enjoying a delicious meal and fantastic coffee in an 18th-century room once used by French soldiers, all in a charming setting with great service. The owner is both friendly and knowledgeable. A bit pricey, but totally worth it.

This was our first time here, and we both gave it two thumbs up. We both wound up getting the curried chick pea wrap, which was so delicious. Everything in it was fresh and crunchy and tasty. An honorable mention is a must for the pickled onions in the wrap; they were tangy without overpowering.

This is a one of a kind coffee shop. Housed in a colonial era historic home this is a perfect spot to enjoy a cup of great coffee. Their bakery serves up some amazing choices if you have a sweet tooth. We couldn't decide between the cherry tart and apple cake so we got both! They also have breakfast and lunch specials daily. You can sit upstairs in the quaint dining room or if the weather is great sit outside in the garden. The coffee has a mild roast that is not bitter but instead is very smooth.

Very cute cafe in a historical home with the friendliest and most helpful staff. Their coffee is top notch and one of the best in the area! They also offer a few beers on tap from Capstan Brewery in Hampton. The sandwiches are a must try, especially the grilled cheese and Chicken Pesto! Large selection of baked goods, freshly roasted take home coffee, and fine teas. They have a wonderful large outdoor backyard seating area and a cozy upstairs lounge as well. Highly recommend a visit!

Whenever I visit Miyaki Sushi & Grill, it is always empty with no customers. However, the quality and quantity of the food justifies its price. The clear soup is delicious and the bento box, priced at $12.99, comes with a variety of tasty dishes. It appears to be a family-run establishment that serves hot and freshly cooked meals.
The Spicey Chicken and Green Onion Salad were just some of my favorites. It was ALL so good that I don’t know where to begin. Our family had many great options to choose! From marinated pork ribs to squid. The variety of flavors were delicious. We sampled and shared with each other. The marinades and sauces were outstanding! We adore the staff and their conscientious service. Thank you for this grand experience.

Authentic Korean BBQ delivers an exceptional dining experience with its outstanding service and high-quality offerings. From the moment we walked in, the staff's attentiveness and friendliness were evident. The owner himself took the time to explain the different meats and the preparation methods, enhancing our appreciation for the meal. The selection of meats was impressive, featuring a variety of cuts that were fresh and flavorful. The interactive aspect of cooking the meats at the table added to the overall enjoyment and allowed us to customize our dining experience. Accompanying sides, such as kimchi and other traditional banchan, were plentiful and complemented the main dishes perfectly. Overall, Authentic Korean BBQ stands out not only for its delicious food but also for its exceptional service. The personal touch from the owner and the staff's dedication to ensuring a great dining experience make it a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Korean cuisine.

The food is spectacular! Love, love it. The owners are very sweet and helpful. The waitress we had... not so good. She could not remember anything we asked her for or answer simple menu questions. Some questions never were answered. She seemed very out of her element (and it was NOT busy). The table was sticky. It was more expensive than I would have liked, BUT I will be going back when I can justify spending the money. It's good.

At 3 Amigos Mexican Restaurant in Nelson's Grant on Rt 17, customers have praised the mouthwatering dishes. With a variety of options like the Burrito Mexicano, Seafood Nachos, Ceviche Shrimp, and Burrito California, there is something to satisfy every taste. The burrito California stands out for its generous portion of meat and delightful flavor. The fresh vegetables, particularly the avocado, are exceptionally crisp and vibrant.
I was pleasantly surprised by our experience at this restaurant. It was conveniently located near where we were, so we decided to give it a try. I’ll admit, I had some reservations—my past experiences with Mexican restaurants have been mediocre at best. But this place completely exceeded my expectations. The food was outstanding—far superior to any Mexican restaurant I’ve been to. Everything was fresh, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious. I ordered the Pollo Tropical, and it completely blew me away. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, a far cry from the dry, bland versions I’ve had elsewhere. The service was just as impressive. Our server was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The restaurant itself is well maintained, with a clean and inviting atmosphere. We chose to sit on the patio, which was a lovely touch and made the experience even more enjoyable. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and will definitely return every time I’m in the area.

Service was very attentive! Not a single complaint about service and the atmosphere is what you expect for a Mexican restaurant in Hampton Roads. The food is not as flavorful as it used to be and portion sizes have dropped while the price has gone up since January. Cheese dip used to come with rice dishes for example, now it's an extra 2.50 for a 4 oz side. It's clearly marked on the (new) menu so there's no bait and switch or anything sketchy. We'll be back but probably not as often with these changes.

When walked in we were sat immediately, they took the order as soon after (we'd already looked at the menu online kinda knew what we wanted) and the food was out probably 10 or 15 min later. The food was really good. The chips n salsa was actually good too. The overall environment was relatively quiet, although it was the start of their busy hour (probably the first of 3 or 4 people there for the time of day

November 27, 2023 - Checked all the boxes for a relaxing night out with a friend at . . . 3 Amigos Mexican Restaurant. 😃👍🏼 Greeted at the door by Rodrigo, who seated us quickly. Certainly not a busy Monday evening. . . our server popped over for drink orders in a couple of minutes (Rodrigo) ! Small bar area, with a tv going, not crowded either. Drinks arrived shortly, then our server took our dinner orders. Rodrigo told us this is one of six locations owned by the same owner. ( My research mentioned Ramon Perez as the owner. ) Maybe 12 minutes or so . . . Our food arrived ! My wife & our friend both ordered the Salmon ! Which they both said was delicious! I enjoyed my shrimp, steak, and chicken fajitas with peppers, and onions ! Very good, cooked perfectly, even removed the shrimps tails ( many restaurants don’t)! As more people walked in, you noticed the folks eating burritos, tacos, carnitas, and chimichangas. Which are all common Tex/Mex standards on the menus available throughout the U.S. Maybe I’ll find that special Mexican/ Spanish restaurant that offers several authentic Spanish items? (A suggestion 😃👍🏼) Overall, our food was well prepared, and delicious! We’d certainly return to 3 Amigos Restaurant! We could use a few in Maine!

Dawn nor I can pronounce what we had. But flavor was like no other, it was the best American/Spanish Food we have eaten. The spice mixed with flavor was great. We liked it so much that we tipped the cook on our receipt too. We recommend this place for a great flavor oh American/Spanish Food

Sushi restaurant
Umi Sushi is a charming, cottage-style restaurant in Yorktown, VA that offers classic Japanese fare with a fresh and modern twist. The restaurant serves fresh sushi rolls and other original Japanese dishes. It's a great place to stop for a sit-down lunch and enjoy the friendly service from accommodating servers. Additionally, Umi Sushi offers hot sake and other drinks to complement the delicious meals.
Came through Umi Sushi solo while I was out in Yorktown visiting from Cali. Real talk — this spot blew me away. The fish? Straight melt-in-your-mouth status. Hella fresh, clean cuts, you can tell they don’t cut corners. That quality hit different. The owner showed mad love too. Super chill dude, made me feel like I was at home even though I was just grabbing takeout. That energy you don’t get everywhere. If you’re ever out here, don’t sleep on this spot. I’ll for sure be back next time I’m in town.

Very friendly owner. The food was excellent. My daughter hasn't tried sushi before and the owner was very nice and had great recommendations. I would definitely recommend going here for sushi. They have japanese soda and mochi available as well
Vishal R — Google review
Absolutely loved my experience at Umi Sushi! The mochi was a delightful treat — the matcha flavor was hands down my favorite. I also tried the vegetarian sweet potato sushi, and it was incredibly flavorful and fresh. What really made the visit special was the person behind the counter — such a lovely, friendly, and passionate guy who clearly puts a lot of heart into the food he serves. You can taste the care in every bite. Can’t wait to go back!

Walked in last Friday evening to get some take out. Cozy sushi bar. Very busy evening - seats filling up, many online orders coming in. Super welcoming staff person was almost apologetic he needed 20 minutes for my order! I was expecting a longer wait for the Friday evening rush! Sushi was yummy. Heartily recommend Yorktown Roll! Very fresh, well made sushi. We'll definitely get sushi here again!
Deb — Google review
Absolutely loved this little gem, our sushi chef was super kind and very inviting. We loved sharing the time with him as he prepared our sushi. Everything was made fresh to order and tasted so good! I highly recommend the the salmon nigiri with mayo and pickled onions, it was a winning combination.

Visited Yorktown on 7/3. Read sign Japanese beverages and went in to check that out. Owner answered our many questions and we decided to order food. So glad we did. Watching the preparation was appetizing and the presentation and taste was exceptional! Terrific appreciation from the owner made our visit to be the first of many. Thank you for making your customers feel appreciated. Your service and food are outstanding.

We were at the beach in Yorktown and decided to order some sushi after seeing the reviews. We ordered the sushi sashimi combo. Service was good but food was ok. I expected better. Tuna was chewy .
Paka C — Google review
Wonderful Japanese style eatery (not because it’s sushi but how you sit at the bar, order, get your food). Not big so best for a date night or take out for larger orders. But soooooo fresh. Rice, fish, everything was the best we’ve had in a long time. Pay attention to the hours! Early March was closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, open Wednesday on. The Chef is a great guy too. Highly recommend going at least once during your stay. Try the Japanese sodas too. You won’t get a cavity like our homegrown drinks.

Patriot Tours & Provisions offers a delightful experience in Yorktown, with options for dining at Umi Sushi or Carrot Tree Kitchens. Visitors can explore the Yorktown Bookshop and Auntie Ms American Cottage for unique souvenirs, as well as Viccellio Goldsmith for keepsake jewelry. The tour guides, such as Aaron and Randy, are praised for their knowledge and friendliness during the Segway tours.
100/10 - couldn't imagine anyone ever having a bad experience here. The customer service was the best we have ever encountered. From the moment I called to inquire Randy was very helpful and making our reservation. Our tour guide Rick was knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining. We felt completely comfortable the whole 2 hour tour. Well worth the money for the amazing memories.

Great location for a lil kayak adventure! The staff was super helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend checking them out while spending time In the area. We even got to see the bridge open up and a ship exit the River. Equipment was excellent, nice kayaks!
Crystal F — Google review
What a bunch of super Great people! We scheduled a Segway ride for 2 and got stuck in a pub at lunch. We were running late and the man who ran the place, Randy, was sooooo sweet! He said not to worry about it. He joked. He was really genuine. We were only about ten minutes late. They usually max out their tours with 6 but accommodated our party of 7. They gave awesome instruction and were pleasant. Ricky was our guide. He took us through town and was really pleasant! We enjoyed this experience! If you are in town and do not stop...turn around!!Thank you! As we left we tipped! Don’t forget to tip your guide, and I got a great deal on a sun hat! They also have kayak rentals and bikes and cool kites.
Torie Q — Google review
Great experience. Ricky, our tour guide was awesome. I've paid much more other places and would highly recommend.
Chris W — Google review
These guys were fantastic! Our tour guide was named Aaron, a young man with a sincere love for local history and just really fun to be around. The tour was great and riding the Segway was an absolute blast, a total bonus. If you're fearful of not being able to control the Segway, don't be. It only took a few minutes to get comfortable with the machines and then it was really second nature. The area is completely beautiful and we really enjoyed it. We took the 2hr tour, I highly recommend it.
Dave T — Google review
Was here in September and this Segway tour is a must, such a fun way to see the town! We went with a larger group, and our tour guides Randy and Karlee were the best! Super helpful, made sure we were all comfortable and safe during the whole tour! Best of all they made sure we all had a blast! Would definitely come back here again!
Jenna S — Google review
My review is based on the shop, not the Segway tours (which sounds super fun). The workers are friendly and the shop has some pretty cool items! Great location, too.
K M — Google review
What a fun tour. First time riding a Segway but they train you well. Very informative. Our guide Kylie was fantastic and knowledgeable on Yorktown history. Only did the hour tour which turned out perfect for us since it was our first time riding and feet got a little sore by the end. Would do again for sure.

I was the DJ for a wedding here. Beautiful little venue. I like that it's pretty much up to the couple to provide everything. You just are renting the venue. The ball is in your court! No frills and you can make it as simple or extravagant as you wish. I like it!

Wonderful venue place in such a beautiful setting. I've been there for business functions to weddings and it's always a great set up. There's even an outdoor tent that helps to extend the space which overlooks the York River.

It's an amazing venue. Very well priced. October is a gorgeous month to have a wedding. Pictures taken with the river and the beach is a background, plus lots of plants and backdrops to use all around the freight shed. The venue itself was absolutely perfect. Tables chairs provided catering kitchen, sound system, the works!

Nice wedding/ event venue. The parking / load in for vendors is not well thought out. The interior sconces are hideously ugly, but are rather innocuous. Bathrooms are shared public restrooms.

Yorktown Market Days Food and Artisans Market is a lively event that takes place on Saturdays from April to October, featuring farm stalls, crafts, live music, and food trucks. The market draws both locals and visitors to Water Street in downtown Yorktown. It offers a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, pickled items, and artisanal products. Additionally, there are special events held frequently with kid-friendly options available.
I love this market! Get your weekly veggies and handmade gifts in one place. A great place for an outing with your family and friends. Make a morning of it. Lots of yummies and crafts. AND it’s near the beach with a nice breeze. 😎 ⛱️ 🐚

They had a lot of vendors on Saturday and we purchased some pure honey from two different vendors. They had music and mini food trucks and other local items along with fruits, vegetables, seafood, and jams, and jellies Park was a little difficult for handicap people. We also purchased some local fruit, especially the blackberries were delicious and sweet. Highly recommend going if you’re in the area on a weekend.
James G — Google review
Wonderful little farmer's market. Hot drinks, cold drinks, breakfast, early lunch, fruits, veggies, baked goods, a few craft vendors & one annoying lady selling vacation packages. Don't let that dissuade you though. This is dog friendly, as is most of Yorktown. We were particularly drawn to the large fruit & veggie stand at one end & a baked goods one (Our Fairy Tale Bakery) at the other end. These two vendors have beautiful displays & a great selection to choose from. Also, as you walk around, there are plenty of free tasty samples.
G Z — Google review
“Market Days at Yorktown are awesome! You really feel at home—people are so friendly, and the atmosphere is welcoming. There are plenty of unique handmade crafts, fresh produce, and beautiful gifts to choose from, and the food vendors always offer something delicious to enjoy while you shop. The market is well organized, with live music and activities that make it fun for all ages. Parking is easy, and walking along the river while visiting the booths makes it a perfect Saturday morning experience! As an artist, I participate here very often with my booth Art Corner by Carla, where I showcase my handmade cards and crochet earrings. It’s always a joy to be part of this beautiful community event.”

Good variety of vendors and lots of parking available. Listen to live music while you stroll by the beach. Cute way to spend your morning.

Spending a weekend day in beautiful downtown Yorktown is a great way to support local shops and artists. We have had tons of fun the past few Yorktown Market Days. They do special events frequently, and most of the booths are friendly. They usually have kid-friendly options and keep going rain or shine because of the parking garage.

York Hall is a must-visit in Yorktown, serving as both a welcome center for visitors and a community gathering place. The gallery is managed by volunteer Sharon Owen and showcases an array of local art, with themed exhibits changing every six to eight weeks. Additionally, the venue provides visitor information and friendly hospitality. Nearby, visitors can enjoy sandwiches and baked goods at Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters and Petite Cafe before exploring On the Hill Gallery for local arts and crafts.
I can’t say enough about the kindness of the staff here. I accidentally left my purse in the ladies room and they found it and held into it until I was able to return to retrieve it. It’s a beautiful facility and full of historic information that you don’t want to miss.

Wonderful place with a volunteer run gift shop area. Find a gift/souvenir from a local artist here! While there was a cute free museum in the basement with lovely attendants there too! Learned so much about the town there too and took home fun items from the shop. Don't miss out on this place, everyone was nice and it was fun browsing the wares/seeing the museum! Miss this town so much because of the places like this!

Unlike a lot of other attractions, this is free. There is a great gift shop upstairs with plenty of history books, postcards and locally produced art. However, the basement is the real gem. It's full of artifacts discovered around Yorktown and covers more than just Revolutionary War history.

Grace Episcopal Church in Yorktown, Virginia has a rich history dating back to the pre-Revolutionary days of the United States. The church and cemetery, also known as York-Hampton Parish Church, were constructed in 1697 and later updated with a Greek Revival architectural style. This historic site was attended by several Founding Fathers and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
We just loved the architecture and history of the Grace Episcopal Church of Yorktown. Unfortunately it was not open the day we visited but the number of historic markers and signs on the grounds painted a rich history. The cemetery at the site is impeccably maintained and there are a who’s who of the City’s people interred there. I hope to see the inside on my next visit.
Louis E — Google review
Grace Episcopal Church in Yorktown, Virginia, is a beautiful and historic landmark that offers a powerful sense of reverence and reflection, even when its doors are closed. Originally established in the 1600s and rebuilt after the Revolutionary War, the current church structure dates back to the early 1800s and stands as a testament to centuries of faith, resilience, and community. With its striking brick architecture and quiet surroundings, the church immediately captures your attention as you approach. During our visit, the building itself was unfortunately closed to the public, so we weren’t able to explore the interior. Still, the peaceful atmosphere of the grounds and the church’s historical presence made the stop well worth it. We were able to walk through the burial grounds surrounding the church, which are rich with history and lined with centuries-old gravestones that tell the stories of Yorktown’s past generations, including soldiers, prominent citizens, and early settlers. The cemetery is well-maintained and evokes a quiet solemnity, shaded by mature trees and filled with weathered stones, some dating back to the 1700s. It’s a reflective place where history feels very present. Walking among the graves, you can’t help but feel a connection to the generations who lived, fought, and died in this historic town. The burial grounds alone make the site a meaningful stop for anyone interested in local or early American history. The church is known in local lore for reported paranormal activity, including ghostly sightings and unexplained sounds. While we didn’t experience anything firsthand, the atmosphere—especially near dusk—carries a weight that fuels the imagination. The blend of sacred space and historical tragedy lingers in the air, making it a compelling place for both history lovers and those interested in the supernatural. Overall, even without access to the interior, Grace Episcopal Church offers a powerful experience. The burial grounds, architectural beauty, and deep sense of history make it a must-visit when exploring Yorktown. We hope to return one day when the church is open to take in the full story of this remarkable site.

The church was closed when we arrived, but it looked nice from the outside, and the grounds were well-maintained. Took a photo of the grave of Declaration of Independence signer Thomas Nelson, which was the purpose of our visit. We will definitely stop by in the future if we happen to be in the area in order to see the inside of the church.

I recently returned to this area after being out of state for many years. Grace Church is the home of my Soul. It's very quiet, peaceful, and centering. I came Good Friday to walk the Labrynth and light a candle in the memory of those whom I've loved, who've passed in April. I left feeling loved, whole, and embraced by Grace. Beautiful experience!

Beautiful old church on the banks of the York River overlooking Yorktown. He will also find a old veterans cemetery. In the summer they have concerts on Sunday afternoon in the cemetery. People bring their lawns chairs wine and cheese platters sit back and relax and enjoy the tunes.
