Biking Trails
Gooseberry Falls State Park is a vast 1,682-acre park boasting stunning waterfalls and various wildlife. Visitors can explore campgrounds, trails, and picnic areas while learning about the area's history at the interpretive center/museum/gift shop. The paved walkway provides an excellent view of the magnificent waterfalls. Nearby restaurants with unique names like Crooked Spoon and Devil Track Resort cater to group dining needs.
Gooseberry Falls is a must-visit gem along Minnesota’s North Shore, offering natural beauty and easy access that makes it perfect for families. The main attraction, of course, is the stunning waterfall—its powerful flow and cool waters are mesmerizing and provide the perfect backdrop for a fun and memorable outing. The short hike from the parking lot is easy, taking about 10 minutes along a well-maintained path. It’s just enough to stretch your legs without tiring out the kids, and the scenery along the way is beautiful, with views of the river, forest, and rocky terrain. Once at the falls, there’s plenty of space for everyone to explore. Kids (and adults!) will love climbing over the smooth rocks, splashing in the water, and getting up close to the rushing cascades. It’s the kind of place where you can spend hours just enjoying nature. The visitor center is also very well done, with informative displays, helpful staff, and clean, modern bathrooms—always a big plus when traveling with family. Whether you’re stopping for a quick visit or making a day of it, Gooseberry Falls is a wonderful spot to soak in the outdoors, take photos, and enjoy a peaceful slice of Minnesota’s natural beauty.

Been coming here my entire life, and it’s always consistently amazing. The scenes are beautiful, the facilities are clean, the staff are great when you interact, etc. The only downside we’ve had recently is you have to have reservations about a year in advance (no exaggeration). But otherwise the trails are great, and I’m sad I didn’t take more pictures on the falls trail. Came here at the time of this posting in the beginning of the fall where the temps were perfect and there were little to no bugs. The sites are also clean and roomy, with what seems to be a complementary big rock in all the sites I’ve been to 🤣. For me this is by far the best state park I’ve ever been to.
Neil B — Google review
Beautiful as ever. The river was high enough that the falls were fantastic. The trails appear wild and untouched and beautifully manicured at the same time. Plenty of dirt hiking and boardwalk and stairs so most anyone can have a good hike and great access to views. Not a spec of trash anywhere.
Scott B — Google review
This is a beautiful natural wonder! It’s unique in that it’s very accessible. You can actually walk out onto the rocks and put your feet in the water, and really explore. It would be nice if there was a little more signage along the pathways - the map we were given is not very functional, and they’re such a network of paths that it can be become confusing. We were there on a weekend in early fall, and the place was overrun with leaf peepers! I don’t know if it’s always that busy, to me that was the only drawback. You could hardly get a photo of the falls without people in it. During peak season, mid week might be less busy. They have a lovely visitor center and gift shop, and nice restrooms.
Theresa M — Google review
One of our favorite places we stopped on our trip, felt like we could've spent forever there exploring new areas! Would absolutely recommend it for families, couples, or on your own. Our friends also has a wedding ceremony there that was beautiful and peaceful and would absolutely recommend that for anyone wanting to elope or a very small intimate wedding!
Hailey W — Google review
The Upper, middle, and lower falls are usually very busy in the summer, even on a weekday. But the falls are worth it to see. We went in late July and after a week with a lot of rain, so there was water flowing over the falls, which makes it that much better. It does lead to some muddy or wet spots on the trails, but nothing that can't be navigated. Highly recommend making the short hike to the Fifth falls. If you do, I recommend the trail on the East/North side of the river. It is less steps and seemed easier. It also has the best views of the falls. This area is a LOT less crowded and was actually my favorite part of the park. A quick picnic by the Lakeview picnic shelter is nice, with a very short walk to the lake and river. I will make this a place I must visit every summer, one of my favorites.
Sara L — Google review
Such a beautiful spot to explore. We were lucky that the weather was perfect. This is aust see if you have never been. Wear your comfy shoes and clothes and get ready to jump and explore from rocks to water.
M O — Google review
Easy to access via paved trails. Pretty busy, the water is accessible, people letting their kids swim, even though the signs strongly discourage it. Doesn't take much walking to get away from the crowds, tho. Very pretty.

Beaches
Iona’s Beach Scientific and Natural Area in Minnesota is a true hidden gem along the North Shore. This unique spot features millions of naturally pink rocks that create a one-of-a-kind shoreline you won’t find anywhere else. When you first step onto the beach, it’s hard not to be amazed by the soft, rounded stones that stretch as far as the eye can see. The sound they make as the waves roll in and out is almost musical, adding to the peaceful, magical feeling of the place. It’s a perfect stop for families looking to enjoy a bit of nature and fun. Our family loved walking along the shore, skipping the pink rocks into Lake Superior, and just taking in the incredible views. The short 10-minute walk from the parking lot to the beach is easy and makes the spot very accessible, even for young kids. Iona’s Beach feels like a special secret that you’ll want to share with others. Whether you’re planning a full day of exploring or just want a quick, memorable pit stop, Iona’s Beach is well worth it. We’ll definitely be back — it’s a place that stays with you long after you leave.

So beautiful. Go close to the the water and lay with your ear on the rocks to hear the water below. Soak your feet in the cool water and the rest of you in the sun! Saw river otters and a little “sea” cave. Take time to see blue white striped hidden unique rocks. Overall the beach is a beautiful pink!
Bobbi S — Google review
This is one of those places that pictures just cannot fully capture. It is absolutely stunning! The unique sound of the waves as they washed those large stones into the lake is something I’ll never forget!

Very picturesque Beach on the shores of lake Superior. Easy short walk to the beach from the parking lot where there is plenty of parking. No steps down to the beach, but for the adventurous there is a trail that leads to Ricky cliffs that overlook the pounding surf. Seems like it's a very popular place to enter the bike trails as well.
Jim S — Google review
This is a Minnesota North Shore destination. Nothing like it. I’d advise if you’re going to Duluth this should be on your site seeing list. Good parking, nice short walk to the beach. Great place to take photos.
Robin K — Google review
Visiting Iona's Beach has been on my bucket list for years. We visited on a late September Friday afternoon and almost had the beach to ourselves. The waves were pretty high, so the sound of the rocks wasn't as apparent. We visited again on Saturday, with calmer waves with family. The sound was better, but there were more people. I wasn't able to get a good video of the rock sound without talking in the background, but the kids loved it. Loved it. Because it is a scientific natural area, all rocks should be left on site. Leave no trace...
Carole G — Google review
Beautiful cobble beach. Long enough if you walk to to end you will find a decent spot. A short walk from the lot. The only restroom is a portal potty on the trail between the beach and landing.
Jason B — Google review
A good spot to stop on a North Shore driving trip! Be aware of recent derecho tree damage and constant restrictions on rock collection. The water is very clear and swimming is possible; however river sandals are recommended due to rock size. This is a beach made of rocks and dune like inclines. Be aware of the unforgiving commitment needed to enter the water here; the first steps are: shins, thighs, tummy. The site has degraded from natural processes between my visits. I recommend spending time here for appreciation over time to genuinely appreciate changes in natural systems and the environment.

Great mix of history and wonderful views. This park may not have the waterfalls but it makes up for it in its great trails and beach/lake access, and wonderful campground.

This was a bucket list stop for me and the main motivation for our trip to the area, it did not disappoint! We purchased tickets ahead of time for the Keeper’s tour because I thought I read that it was a max of 10 per tour and I wanted to make sure we got in, however it seemed that if there was a bigger group they split the tours between guides for a max of 10 per group. Paid entry into the park is not required if you’re there for the tour. We arrived at 8:30 for the 9:00 tour - the building does not open until 10:00, so don’t expect to walk up and go in. However, our tour guide came out to greet us when she noticed people arriving and unlocked the door for us to use the bathroom before the tour, so that was appreciated. Amy was our tour guide and she was a delight to spend time with, obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about what she does and encouraged everyone to take their time for photos and gawking. The area is currently under construction so you will see some fencing and obvious construction work right now but I was still able to get great photos. Unfortunately it was smoggy from the wildfires so I didn’t get great shots from the iconic lighthouse viewing areas, but nothing anyone can do about that. I recommend wearing walking shoes as the paths are rocky and there are some stairs throughout the tour, obviously to go up to the lighthouse. The path to the iconic viewing spots out on the trails (separate from the tour but still required paid entry) is all dirt and gravel and there are SEVERAL stairs (long stair case) - we went down the stairs and took the dirt path back around to avoid going back up. The gift shop was the type I was comfortable spending money at, it is set up well and not full of junk. I also recommend walking through the building and watching the video about the lighthouse. Pay for the tour, you won’t be disappointed!

An amazing state park with amazing camping options. Pebble beach is a must. You can kayak or paddle to the island. At low tide, hiking to the island is also an option. Not too many tourists even in the peak season. I drove all the way from Chicago and worth the time. The water of the sea was crystal clear.
Julian M — Google review
The state park is separate from the lighthouse but has the best views so you have to do both Hiking, picnic areas, Day Hill, Pebble Beach. Lots of lakefront access and photo opportunities Also some impressive night views. Viewed the Milky Way from Pebble Beach
Hank Z — Google review
Beautiful campground! If you enjoy biking the trail access is fabulous. There is no cell signal here so plan ahead. We would have given this a five star but no dump station or water hook up for RV’s. There’s water, showers and such but not convent for longer stays.
T&B — Google review
Shipwreck campground was really nice - many large sites. Only downside is no dump station insight! Pebble beach is awesome, staff at the campground was top notch, informative and extremely pleasant to work with!

Beautiful. Separate from Split Rick Lighthouse museum/visitor center. Must stop and pay for day use pass $7. Lots of trails and access to the lake.

Anyone who knows me knows how many lighthouses I’ve painted throughout my years… but to see real lighthouses in person was the icing-on-the-cake during my Minnesota trip. Did not have time to see them all, but I hope to come back again. Super gloomy and cloudy during early mornings. The sun eventually came out mid-day. Beautiful still!!

Food & Drink
Castle Danger Brewery is a popular spot in downtown Two Harbors, offering a wide range of legendary beers known for their balanced and approachable flavors. The brewery features a 30 barrel brewing system, canning line, and a contemporary yet rustic taproom with an outdoor patio overlooking Lake Superior. Visitors can enjoy tasting the delectable brews while taking in the fresh breeze from the lake.
I’ve been to dozens and dozens breweries in many different states and after much contemplation I declared this to be my favorite! Every pour is delicious. The landscaping and layout are so beautiful, plenty of seating, quiet/private table conversation because of the way the seating is arranged outside. Tons of games. Adorable gift shop. The food truck was fabulous. Snacks and ice cream were top notch.
Angela Z — Google review
Great spot to enjoy some beer and the company of others. We sampled several flights and spent a few hours here playing games (provided free by the bar). We had pizza delivered right to our table from nearby Do North. We didn’t particularly enjoy many of the beers and the bartender was particularly unpleasant. It’s not the most welcoming service which is unfortunate, given what a lovely atmosphere the place had outside of this interaction.
Stefanie G — Google review
Castle Danger is a must-stop brewery on the North Shore. The beer flights are fantastic and give you a chance to try a wide range of their special brews. They also have seltzer options for gluten-free drinkers, which is a nice touch. The food truck adds solid food options, and the taproom has a fun, relaxed vibe with board games available. Great beer, great atmosphere, and a spot worth hanging out at.
Chloe — Google review
Castle Danger is an iconic brewery near the North Shore and worth stopping by if you're a brew lover. The outdoor atmosphere is relaxing and chill on a nice day and the indoor vibe is cozy when ole superior brings the cooler temperatures or rain. My personal recommendation: A pint of Castle Cream Ale 🍻
Jenaya P — Google review
This place has great beer, excellent location, and friendly staff. Highly recommended stop on the north shore!
Scott P — Google review
A "must" for your Two Harbors visit. I ordered a flight and sat outside on this sunny October day. For those who have fur babies this place is dog friendly!
Beth F — Google review
A beautiful spot for a pint or two. Lots of seating indoors and a huge patio area. Nut Brown Ale was fabulous. Family friendly, lots of games and outdoor activities for kids and adults. Last night there was a food truck serving Mexican favorites and live music. Limited food otherwise (chips, pretzels, and such). Some people brought in their own food and someone had pizza delivered. Very laid back and friendly.
Chris S — Google review
This brewery is great! There are many different beers to try from, and I Iike that there is a large amount of outdoor seating. You can view part of Lake Superior depending on where you sit. It is fun that dogs are allowed outside. I like seeing all the different dogs. The reason it is only getting three stars is because my sister and I got sick from the food truck food. We had a roast beef sandwich, and I'm not sure if it was the richness of the sandwich that upset my stomach or if it was food poisoning. I was so sick and vomiting after eating it, though. I don't think it was the beer because beer never upsets my stomach, and I'm not a heavy drinker. Food truck food will sometimes. I can't really handle grease. I was super sick for the entire night with horrible stomach cramps. On the plus side, the beer and the atmosphere were nice. Maybe I'll try it again with no food.

Madeira Bistro is a charming lunch spot located in Two Harbors, MN, run by three passionate women dedicated to serving fresh and nutritious meals. The bistro offers a variety of delicious options made with the freshest ingredients, emphasizing sustainability and quality. The Northern Dillight sandwich and Knife River Roast are highly recommended choices, served with crispy kettle fries and tangy dill pickles. The boho chic ambiance adds to the dining experience, complementing the delightfully fresh food.
Such a cute place in Two Harbors that we popped into on our way to Split Rock Light House. I really loved stumbling upon this cafe. I had the Madeira salad and it was fantastic and fresh. My daughter had the Turkey Cheddar Melt and said it was delicious. The atmosphere is so sweet and the service was friendly and helpful. Such a great find and a perfect break point if you’re on your way North.

Madeira Bistro is a true gem! Fresh, healthy meals in an area saturated with bars and grills. It was our favorite meal during our visit. We wish that we could have tried every item on the menu because it all sounded fantastic. The staff was very friendly and the prices were reasonable. Make sure not to miss out on the almond croissant cookie.

Loved the turkey apple melt! Paired wonderfully with their house made curry chicken wild rice soup. The food is definitely made with love here. Would love to visit this place again.

If you’re in Two Harbors or driving thru and craving something better than fast food, Madeira Bistro is the spot. My sister and I stopped in for lunch and shared the Hiker Sandwich along with the soup of the day (tortilla soup). Perfect call on a rainy day by the Big Lake. The Hiker Sandwich was spot on: fresh pumpernickel bread, tender pastrami, and zesty mustard with just the right kick. The tortilla soup delivered exactly what you’d hope for; flavorful broth with beans and corn, topped with crunchy tortilla strips and a little lime wedge for brightness. Comfort food done right. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with a designer’s twist—fun interior decorations and wall art that give the space personality. While we were there, a few locals came in for lunch, which is always a good sign. Service is counter-style, you order up front and they bring your meal out to you. For anyone passing through Two Harbors, this spot is a no-brainer. Skip the drive-thru and treat yourself to a meal that tastes homemade. And when you’re done, pop across the street to Castle Danger Brewery where you can even order your bistro meal to go and enjoy it with a pint. You betcha!

My family of five stopped here on our trip traveling the north shore and absolutely loved it! The food was spectacular. Two of us had different bowls and three had sandwiches. Definitely spring for the hibiscus lemonade and the trail cookie too! Absolutely yum! It was fairly busy for the size of the restaurant, but we didn't wait long for our food at all. The service is top notch! I will definitely go back when I'm in the area.
Christina S — Google review
Really yummy food! Great special selection. I got the chicken salad sandwich and the bread was really soft and the sandwich had a real good crunch, definitely high on the list of sandwiches I've had. The lemonade was flavorful and not horribly sweet. Lady at the counter was super sweet and the seating selection is good.

Decent little place if you want fairly healthy food. We had a very long wait time. It’s seems to be a popular spot

Stopped for lunch and it was SO GOOD! I had the salmon bowl; the ingredients were fresh, the flavors were perfect together. My husband had the dillicious sandwich and it truly was as advertised! We loved the infused water! The inside was fun and quirky and the service was friendly. Highly recommend!

Grand Superior Grill is a fantastic restaurant located near Castle Danger/Gooseberry Falls area, making it a great dining option for those staying at the Grand Superior Lounge or anyone in the vicinity. The food is delicious with generous portions, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The menu features typical American dishes made exceptionally well, such as Eggs Benedict, pancakes with chocolate chips, Walleye, short rib with mushrooms and peppers, and a daily special called the Prime Cheddar stacker.
Great view of lake Superior from inside the dining room. Reasonable prices. The smash burgers were great and my daughter loved the Mac and cheese. Broccoli cheddar soup was great as well. Wish the burger would of came with lettuce and tomato but maybe I need to ask for that. Fries could be upgraded to crinkle cut for a better finish.

The facility was very nice with great views of Lake Superior. The food was excellent! I had the Mixed Green Salad Lingonberry Vinagarette salad dressing. I also had the Soup du Jour, which, to me, had an East Indian flavor. My wife had The Mile High Club sandwich. It was very good both at the restaurant and as a cold leftover later that night. My daughter had the 218 CDBC Smash burger and loved it. My granddaughter had the Mac And Cheese and devoured it.
David C — Google review
Today we had carry-out from the Superior Grill. And I must say, it was as good as I hoped it would be, in fact, better than I expected for carry-out. Tonight was a burger. Tomorrow I plan to dine in and order steak. I'll update then, if Google allows. Update: day two... Dining in. No complaints at all! All expectations were met or exceeded. For dinner we had the fillet mignon with shrimp, and the Parmesan crusted walleye. Service was excellent and the view of the lake was stunning.
Jim S — Google review
Went here for the Friday fish fry. It's an all you can eat walleye, with truffle fries. Very, very good! Service was nothing short of excellent! The dining room was comfortable and casual, with nice views of Lake Superior. If you're up the North Shore, you will want to give this place a try!

We found this gem on a busy weekend. Both Betty's Pies and the Rustic Inn Cafe were slammed. The Grand Superior Grill was almost empty. Two of us had the beer cheese burger, which they raved about, and two of us had the pork belly tacos, which I can say were really good. Everyone else was also happy with their meal. I highly recommend trying this restaurant.

My girlfriend and I ended our girls day here for dinner. We both had a spicy Bloody Mary and their delicious fish fry, which was perch! We both devoured their truffle fries! The dill aoli was the cherry on top!

We were staying at the Grand Superior Lodge and had planned to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary dinner at the Grill. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the restaurant was extremely short-staffed and clearly overwhelmed. The main dining area was closed due to low staffing, and they were turning guests away or suggesting they dine in town. Even with a reservation, we were told we would simply have to wait for a table to open — and guests ahead of us had already been waiting 30 minutes or more. It was disappointing, especially given the occasion we were celebrating. Instead, we decided to try Vue North at Superior Shores Resort, and it completely turned our evening around. The space was beautiful, elegant, and comfortable with leather seating, the staff was fantastic, and the food was excellent. While it worked out wonderfully for us in the end, we truly feel for other guests who had to deal with the staffing and management challenges at the Grand Superior Lodge Grill. Hopefully, they can resolve these issues soon, as the setting is lovely and has so much potential.

Burgers were good, except for one didn’t come out with a side and the order itself was mixed up. Service was slow, and that’s okay because it had gotten busy but our server seemed so so frazzled that it made service feel even more struggle fest. She left to get a side and water, water didn’t come until after we were done with the food getting checks and the side never came at all. Seems like a cool place with a view but the service was not great

Guides dressed in period clothing offer tours of the Split Rock Lighthouse and keeper's home, showcasing aspects of 1920s life. The lighthouse was constructed after a devastating gale in 1905 caused numerous shipwrecks, and it has become one of Minnesota's most iconic landmarks since its opening in 1910. Today, the lighthouse has been restored to reflect its original appearance from the 1920s and features a historical museum.
We loved our time here. Absolutely beautiful lighthouse. There was a line after we bought tickets, we waited about 15 min or so to take our turn to climb. Very crowded at the top, slightly claustrophobic. The lady at the top did a nice, short, informative presentation. Nice gift shop and grounds. Unfortunately it is under construction so not as great pictures as we’d of liked but nice they’re keeping it up.

Stunning, beautiful...and under construction. What can I say that others haven't? 1. Visit on a weekday when the weather ain't all that great. We had the top of the lighthouse all to ourselves. No wait! 2. Under construction doesn't mean there's nothing to see. Lighthouse was open as was one of the keeper's houses (All the others were closed). They had a mouth-watering vegetable soup boiling on the wood stove. 3. Hit up the Visitor Center and gift shop. Buy the souvenirs. 4. Take your time and enjoy. Well done Minnesota.
Castercamber — Google review
Beautiful lighthouse with much construction around it. Don't wait to hear the fog horn, extremely quiet and not really sure what the point of it is. Nice museum. Friendly and helpful staff. You can go in the tower for $15 on a self guided tour, you can go into the wick room but not into the lamp room. Completely worth the visit just for the unique mechanics and watching it actually run. Don't miss the walk down the steps to the lake to see an absolute stunning view of the light.

This lighthouse was amazing. It was the 115th birthday of the lighthouse! I was coming from Duluth, so it was a bit of a trek, but so worth it for the views alone. It was cool not only to walk through the lighthouse, but also see the keepers house next to it. The house included photos of the families and how they lived. The museum was great too. Gave some more history including some of the shipwrecks nearby. Cool video on the one that is still lying on the floor bed of the lake a stones throw away. I could have spent hours just enjoying the views from the lighthouse. They had some trails nearby to explore as well.

I love touring lighthouses! Split Rock is very interesting. The visitor center is fairly new and offers a short interesting video. It's a short walk and a few stairs up to the lighthouse & fog horn building. Our day's view of Lake Superior was limited due to forest fire smoke haze. I took the stairs to the top. Very limited space there. You are though really close to the lens mechanism! It was turning and is still active! It was an amazing adventure here! Also toured one of the keepers homes. Very well done there too.

This was such a great experience! I really loved it. So much history to learn. They have both the original buildings filled with super friendly staff and historical artifacts! Then they have a museum inside with a ton of pictures and more information. Don’t even mention the view!!!!! O. M.G!!! It’s beautiful!!! The water is so clear and the forest is amazing! Also I mention this earlier but once again the staff were all so kind and fun! Definitely worth the drive from Duluth. Remember to look when it opens though! Me and a bunch of other people all arrive early lmao.

Split Rock Lighthouse is a beautifully preserved and thoughtfully curated destination that offers a glimpse into Minnesota’s maritime history. From the moment you arrive, you can feel the care and attention that went into maintaining this iconic site. The visitor experience begins with a well-produced 20-minute introduction video that provides context about the lighthouse’s history and the treacherous waters of Lake Superior. What’s remarkable is that even young kids—like my 4-year-old and nephews—were captivated by the film, which is no small feat. The small museum exhibit is equally impressive, showcasing artifacts, stories, and interactive elements that bring the history of the lighthouse keepers and shipwrecks to life. The walk up to the lighthouse rewards you with breathtaking views of Lake Superior, but in my opinion, the most stunning view is from the beach below. From that vantage point, you can take in the full beauty of the lighthouse perched high on the cliff, framed by the endless blue of the lake. It’s a scene that feels almost unreal. Split Rock Lighthouse is a must-visit spot if you’re exploring Minnesota’s North Shore. The mix of history, natural beauty, and thoughtful presentation makes it a memorable stop for visitors of all ages.

Fascinating to read about the history of this place, but more interesting to read about engineering of lighthouse technology and seeing the impressive lens that focuses the beam of light You can visit the lighthouse or take a tour to actually go inside. You can also hike to the nearby state park which has some nice attractions in its own right Lots of spots to view the lighthouse, and they are building some new platforms also so look for some new additions in the future

Absolutely stunning. Visiting here from NJ. Wish it warmer so I could ride my bike. Love the historic trail & views of Lake Superior

First lookout stop on my North Shore trip and I could not believe how pretty it was. I really couldn’t believe that this is Mn (boy was I going to be in for a treat). Easy pull off after the tunnel. Little walk, or you could just stay right there! There’s a photo stand to take pictures, which is very nice to have as a solo traveler.
Avary S — Google review
Cool place, but needs some benches for older visitors to catch there breathe, and sit fir a few minutes. Even another family asked down by the parking lot if there where any picnic tables. That would would be a great idea, to have a few by parking lot & maybe a few up the hill.
Karen H — Google review
Obsessed with these views! Easy pull off on the side of the road and you can walk up the trail for the viewpoint OR there’s some sweet social trails that lead you to the cliff edges. From there you can see a little beach to the right and depending on the weather lately a waterfall will be on the left (you really gotta look for it though). Gorgeous during sunrise!

Nice view from the top but limited parking and steep narrow road. Take care as there are plenty of opportunities to fall.

The public park features trails, a sandy beach, and well-equipped campsites for visitors to enjoy. Hikers can explore the trail leading to Burlington Bay, where they will find the popular municipal campground and one of the rare sandy beaches along the North Shore. The campground provides stunning views of Lake Superior and offers a peaceful atmosphere for relaxation.
Beautiful beautiful harbor to just kick back and relax. So so peaceful. You can pick rocks, or climb out along the point or walk in the woods or just watch the water. Its amazing what it does for the soul.

If you like to camp, and like to be on Lake Superior, this campground has some of the best views available. Not perfect, but a very good place to stay. Their communication could easily improve. But, it is a municipal campground without a lot of staff.

I would suggest mattress pads, covering, protector. I don't like the idea of just a sheet over the mattress. A nice padded protector would be a plus. Very quiet, clean and nicely decorated. Loved the view. Will definitely tell others about this property.

Lakeview National Golf Course is a picturesque 18-hole championship course located along Highway 61 on the North Shore. Originally designed by Garret Gill, it underwent expansion and refurbishment in the late 1990s. The course offers diverse challenges with holes cut through wooded areas, providing a secluded and quiet atmosphere. While some visitors have noted rough spots on the greens and dry areas on the fairways, many appreciate the overall experience of playing golf in this scenic location near Lake Superior.
One of the best values for your money. Good layout and great course conditions. After having played here only once a few years ago we played three times this summer. It will be a regular stop next summer, even though it’s over an hour drive from our house. Word of warning though, the greens will test you!
Steve D — Google review
This course is always fun to play, and the condition has improved tremendously in recent years. Beautiful views of Lake Superior on several holes.

August 24th. Greens looking good. Tee boxes were in great shape. I enjoyed the course and the wind in my face! Beautiful course thanks Lakeview!!
Jill C — Google review
Played here for the first this fall. The course layout was perfect with a few nice views of superior. I enjoyed the challenging set up however, the course itself is in bad shape. Hard as a rock fairways with lots of holes & dry areas. You can hurt yourself playing from the fairways. I’d rather be in the rough. Range was free but you had to go pick your own balls out of the range area. Maybe they were under staff some when we (group of 12) were there at 11:00 am. Deserves more of a 3 1/2 stars. Course has a lot of potential!

Hope you have a big bank account and a full wallet. I never stop at stores like this, but my hat needed to be thrown away a year ago. So I stopped in to support local business and get a new hat that reps the north shore, but im not supporting price gouging....$33+tax for a hat!! Nope don't care how charming your store is or if your a 3rd generation local establishment. Sorry ill give my money somewhere else that doesn't play the "captive audience" card.....thanks for making me support another local business who doesn't charge $35 for hat.

The place was okay to browse, a little on the expensive side. One single fudge bar was $4.49, that's a little ridiculous for one piece. They have a toy train that is near the ceiling that was fun to watch. I found a really good smelling lotion, but that was $20.

This place was delicious!! We got the Sugar salmon, cheese curds, salmon spread, and crackers. My family ate all of it within 5 minutes! Very high quality smoked fish. In the top five we've ever tasted. Cajun Salmon was delicious with just enough spice to not overwhelm the fish. Actually thought the Peppered Trout was slightly better. The oilier flesh made it more moist. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff too. We'll be back!

A great coffee menu in a fun environment with a great outside seating area. The breakfast burrito was amazing, made with Lavash (tortilla/flatbread) high quality ingredients, I loved it. My wife had a croissant breakfast sandwich and liked it very much. Please give this place a try. It can be busy on weekends. Worth the wait!
Chris S — Google review
One of my favorite stops on the north shore has sadly come to an end. We stopped here on a Sunday (Father’s Day) at around 11:15am and waited 57 minutes for an incorrect food order (gluten free pb toast and a breakfast burrito - no pb on toast). The drinks were faster - slow but an understandable wait with how busy it was. We were told “this is our Sunday” by staff so know that you might wait an hour for food if it’s a weekend. When we left they were telling people the wait for food was 30 minutes - we weren’t warned and wouldn’t have waited if we had been told there was a 30 minute wait. Our experience just wasn’t worth the stop (beautiful location and good coffee). Note that I did wait back in the ordering line to cancel our food order but was told they were making it and then it was another 10-15 to get it.

Ate there twice in the last week. Just a real gym both in the friendliness of the people that took very good care of us and also in the quality and preparation of the food. This will be our go-to place from now on when we are into harbors and I understand that they took over a former Perkins in Duluth and we intend to try that place. In this tough restaurant time that we're going through. It's so wonderful to find a place like this. Kudos to the concept and the people behind the actions.

We stopped at the Black Woods Bar & Grill for a late lunch. We were seated immediately in a booth that had a view of the street. The server was friendly and helped me find a menu item that was at least vegetarian as I am Vegan. The vegan BLT I chose was delicious and made of fresh ingredients. The atmosphere was a little dated but homey. Overall my experience was good and I will return again someday.

We came in hungry with tweens and we got out fill! Great selection on the menu. Service was prompt and food was delicious! This was a great place to stop after exploring. We started with onion rings and loaded tots. I had the salmon sandwich. Everyone had something they enjoyed and we were stuffed by the end of our meal!

While the food was edible, we waited almost 45 minutes for our food. People that came in after us, got their food before we did, and when we did, one burger was cooked rare and the bun was soggy, it was ordered well done to begin with. Our waitress made sure to get it fixed promptly, but cooking a burger well done can be done by a 10 year old. Some.of it seemed like it sat under the warming light too long and the little pieces of bread that came with the meal were so hard you couldn't even bite them without risking chipping a tooth. All.in all, we got fed and filled our bellies, but with the reviews this place has...... it could/should have been far better.

The Tipsy Mosquito was an unexpected delight in our trip back from the Boundary Waters Canoe Area! Cheers to manager Steph for her wonderful drink recommendations and lively banter! Far from a local “dive”, the Mosquito offers craft cocktails that can be sipped while reclining on an antique chaise in one of several nooks tucked around the building. The drinks are delicious and expertly made. I sipped the “Pretty Bird” while my guest enjoyed one of the seasonal sips, “I Know What You Did Last Summer”. Time passed easily leafing through a few of the well-chosen books scattered across the table tops and we appreciated the vintage artwork and knickknacks. Tipsy Mosquito is a quaint and unique bar; so cute, all the way from the entrance to the jungle-theme restroom! A standout establishment- we will be back in when passing through!

Great place in Two Harbors! It is nothing one would ever expect to see in a little Minnesota northwoods smalltown community. It's unique with different nostalgic like areas within the bar to sit at. Large menu of very interesting mixed drinks. We had some wine, an old fashioned, and a craft beer. We did not order any food but everything on the menu looks great. Bartenders were both friendly as can be. The music that they play makes you want to stay forever and just relax and enjoy the presence. I love this place! I am not a local, but when I am back in Two Harbors for a visit I will definitely return. I wish this business the best of luck and look forward to returning. I am attaching photos.

This is a hidden gem in two harbors. From the outside. You wouldn't expect it to be a cool spot, but when you walk in it's beautiful, eclectic and the seating is on fancy vintage furniture. The drinks are great, I got a non-alcoholic drink which was so good. Others who had alcoholic drinks enjoyed them as well. My favorite part was the gigantic pretzel that came out. Easily one of the best bar pretzels I've ever had. Will be back here for sure.

Ice cream shop
The 5th Street Malt Shoppe, located just a short drive from Country Inn Two Harbors, is a delightful little spot to indulge in some delectable treats. Offering an array of flavors that can be mixed and matched, this charming shop allows you to create endless ice cream combinations. Their handmade waffle cones are simply divine, and they even cater to our furry friends with their Pup Cups. The strawberry shake is particularly enjoyable, complemented by a delightful cookie.
I was excited to stop here for an ice cream treat as we traveled through Two Harbors. We were offered good old-fashioned friendly service. Our server was friendly and patient while we took our time placing our orders. My double hand scooped ice cream cone was delicious with Carmel and cashews. It was yummy! Service was fast!

When I saw that a simple Chocolate Malt was nine Dollars I had to think twice but since I was on vacation I gave it a try. It was a very good Chocolate Malt. 5th Street Malt Shoppe definitely has a good system going. They have a limited menu which allows the orders to be done quickly and the orders are made in short order. The line moves quickly and the quality of the product is very good.

Wife and I have been wanting to visit for years! So glad we finally had the chance to drop by recently when we were having some date time. The chocolate fudge with Andes mints was fantastic! We also loved the wafer topper and the oversized straw. The straw is the kind you have with bubble teas and is very sturdy for sipping shakes without it collapsing. We will be back again soon!

I recently visited 5th Street Malt Shoppe with my husband, and we were both delighted with our choices. I opted for the chocolate malt, which was rich and satisfying, hitting all the right notes for a classic malt lover. My husband chose the raspberry fudge malt, and he was equally impressed. He mentioned that it was better than most raspberry chocolate concoctions he's tried before, with a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness. The flavors were well-blended, and the texture was smooth and creamy. The service was friendly, and the ambiance of the shop added to our enjoyable experience. We'll definitely be returning to try more of their delicious offerings.

I had a chocolate peanut butter malt. It was exactly what I wanted. It's right off highway 61 so easy access. The staff member was very nice and made sure I received exactly what I wanted. He put two cherries and have two straws for us to share. I was really impressed with the service and will be coming back for more in the near future!

This is a cute little ice cream shop that sits next to Dairy Queen. I have to admit, I love Dairy Queen and wanted a blizzard, but was interested in trying out this place. It’s pretty good and the service was fast and polite. My main critique has to do with the ice cream itself. I think they should either make their own (preferred!) or carry a really high end brand. Kemp’s is a basic national brand. On a hot day with family and friends, most people would just be happy to have something cold, but sitting next to Dairy Queen, I would up my ice cream game a bit.

What can I say?? Yummmmmmmmmmmthe strawberry shake was great loved the little cookie that came in it. The kids loved their colorful ice cream. Think they were fruit flavors. Now let’s talk about their mint ice cream 🍦 wow! We love mint ice cream and this was probably the best mint ice cream we have had!! We even got an extra scoop of it after getting our original order.

Best ice cream I've had in a long time. Flavorful, creamy and rich. Yummy yummy yummy. I had the chocolate peanut butter and the cookie dough. The chocolate peanut butter is a creamy chocolate ice cream with real peanut butter swirled into the ice cream, every bite is a flavor explosion of peanut butter in your mouth. The cookie dough has nice big chunks in it and mixed with the chocolate peanut butter in a hot fudge sundae, OMG, it was amazing. My wife had the blueberry cheesecake and the barking pretzel. She said that she loved it, especially the pretzel one. Will be back tomorrow.😋

Super One Foods is a family-owned supermarket with a warehouse-like setup, offering a wide range of products including produce, meat, deli items, and baked goods. Customers appreciate the spacious layout and easy flow of the store, as well as the helpful staff who are readily available to assist shoppers. The location provides ample parking and is easily accessible for both local residents and tourists. In addition to groceries, the store also features a small pharmacy near the freezer section.
I was in Two Harbors Super One yesterday and decided to pick up a few items as long as I was there. I had a very nice young man at the deli, who was so helpful in getting some thing I wanted, and had to go in back to get it and package it up for me. Then onto the produce department. It was the nicest display of produce I have shopped at. All very fresh and displayed beautifully. WELL DONE to their caring employees.

Really like these Super One grocery stores spread out along the northland and they're my preferred grocery shopping experience when vacationing up here. Very clean store with friendly staff and great selections of different kinds of products with reasonable prices.
Chris M — Google review
It's really the only supermarket in town. Mostly the staff are friendly. The prices are higher here than in the twincities, but you can find some cheaper on sale items once and a while. It really is unorganized however.

Stopped here for some stuff before a boundary waters trip. Was shocked how clean and pleasant the restroom was. Staff answered questions quickly and knew where things were.
