Duke's Beach House Maui, nestled within the stunning Honua Kai Resort & Spa, is a vibrant oceanfront eatery that captures the essence of Hawaiian culture. With its open-air design adorned with surfer-inspired decor and tiki torches, this restaurant offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and nearby islands—making it an ideal spot for sunset dining. Guests can indulge in a delightful array of Hawaiian-inspired dishes and tropical cocktails while enjoying live entertainment in a lively atmosphere.
We ended up going here twice. The first time was we had reservations for dinner and they ended up getting us an early. It was the best steak I have ever had highly recommend. They gave us a sweet card celebrating our belated honeymoon. The service was outstanding. everybody was so kind and loving the music was incredible and to watch the sunset was absolutely spectacular. We went back a few days later and had breakfast the banana macadamia nut pancakes were incredible. My husband had a burrito and said it was amazing. It looked good too, but most importantly, I loved our servers. They did such a wonderful job. I was just blown away. Here’s a few pictures of those experiences. I love this place and cannot wait to go back. Her server was absolutely extraordinary. Make sure this is one of your stops along the way it’s worth going and I will go every single time I go back.

Great atmosphere. Definitely loud, but the tiki torch lighting is lovely and restful, and the service (our waiter was Michael) is excellent. Food was pretty good. My husband loved his seafood risotto (plenty of scallops, a small lobster tail, and one big shrimp). My macadamia crusted fish was a bit dry, but the rice, veg, and butter caper sauce were tasty. The portion was on the smaller side for mine, although the risotto was plentiful. Delicious hula pie and coffee. Glad we ate here!

Beautiful ocean view and some pretty good grub. Started with Calamari and Macadamia Humas. Calamari was thick sticks, with an excellent aioli. Humas included carrots zucchini and pita bread, excellent. Bacon cheese burger with avocado was chared nicely with some crunchy beer battered fries. Little woman had Maui Caesar salad with sunflower seeds, kale, mixed greens and a light dressing (a little underwhelming on the dressing flavor). Our dining guest had the fish tacos (2 in soft tortilla) & said they were excellent. Make a reservation as they are busy during peak eating times.

Good food and nice service. Its a resort style beach bar/restaurant. There was live music too so that was nice. You don't have to own or stay at the resort to park or eat here and the parking is free. The live music was pretty chill and fit the lunch beach vibe.

Nice little restaurant right off the boardwalk. The staff is super nice. We only had to wait a few minutes for our seats. The poke tacos and ahi sashimi were outstanding! They also offer a lot of nice drinks! Prices were pretty good as well. Overall, I would recommend stopping if you are walking down the boardwalk.

My fiancé and I have enjoyed Duke’s Beach House for about a week since our arrival to Maui. We booked an all inclusive package which allotted breakfast vouchers for each day we’re here. We’ve had the pleasure of enjoying their delicious, hearty breakfast and sundown scenic dinner. The service is incredible! Shout out to Troy, Sid and Emily.
Ashally P — Google review
Duke’s is a must if you’re in the Lahaina area. The location is as spectacular as the service. Brian was attentive, very friendly, and quick to bring our order! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, from salads to burgers. I loved the fish and chips and also tried the Caesar salad. Leave room for the world-famous Hula Pie and spend some time at the beach afterward.
Aldo Q — Google review
Delicious, fresh seafood at the cost you would expect for a seafood restaurant on a Maui resort. Service was very efficient and nice. Bar area has 5 tables and bar seating all first come first serve otherwise reservations are needed for the rest of the seating. Live music on a Sunday at 3P. Split an appetizer (nachos) and the fish plate. They kindly split the fish plate and presented it on two separate plates and half portions without extra charge. Fantastic service. Drinks were amazing.

Restaurant
The Gazebo is a popular dining spot located in the Napili Shores condo complex, offering American cuisine with a focus on breakfast. Despite its somewhat hidden location behind the resort's pool, the restaurant draws large crowds, often forming long lines even before its 7:30 am opening time. Guests waiting in line are offered fresh coffee and are rewarded with stunning ocean views and a relaxed beach-hut atmosphere upon being seated.
Worth the wait! Come early or plan for a late brunch. We were told to arrive at 6:30am because seating is very limited. When we arrived, there were 2-3 other people in line but the line was very long by opening time. Another perk to arriving early: you get to choose your table! We had a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. Tables seat up to 4 people, so if you come in a large group, you will have to split up. Our food was served soon after we ordered which was a pleasant surprise. I recommend the Mac nut pancakes and the eggs Benedict although our waitress said the omelettes are outstanding. Speaking of our waitress, she was awesome, spunky, and so friendly! Homemade coconut syrup and maple syrup made our pancakes even better. The atmosphere is open-air with a nice ocean breeze and lots of little birds flying in and out of the space. If you enjoy breakfast with a view, check out this place but be prepared to wait in line for a while or wake up early to get a good spot.
Melia — Google review
You’re coming here for the incredible ocean and beach views whilst enjoying a decent breakfast. Seriously, it’s the atmosphere that is the selling point. But you’ll pay the price, not so much in dollars but time. People in line said it would take an hour and came previous days where it was even longer. For pancakes and eggs? Yeah. So a pro tip: order by phone and it takes 25-20 minutes. Grab a table or lounger right next to the restaurant outside by the hotel pool. Same incredible view but much faster! But they’re super nice. They have umbrellas to shade from the sun. They gave cups of ice water too. Food: Pancakes were average. Not particularly fluffy or special quality. And they gave a huge platter of cream which of course made them better. The omelette with Swiss cheese (forgot the official name) was pretty good but ya gotta like cheese. Portuguese sausages were the best item IMO. Breakfast potatoes pretty good too. But the toast wasn’t very toasty.
G L — Google review
Really nice spot for breakfast. Great views of the ocean and relatively affordable for the quantity provided. I would highly recommend the omelettes. We also ordered a shrimp sandwich which was really fresh and tasty. There is ample parking available and don’t miss out on the fresh fruit! Highly recommended.
Yashonandan M — Google review
We got the scrambled eggs and the combo pancakes. They were delicious and amazing and the servings here are huge. Definitely recommend coming here as it opens so you don't have to wait in line. If you come later, just know you can do takeout and that will be way way faster.
Minal S — Google review
Popular breakfast spot with beach views. We read other reviews that recommended arriving here earlier than the 7:30am opening time. We arrived at 7am and it was 35 minute wait after opening. The line moved slowly because there’s limited seating and people don’t rush but it’s a vacation vibe, so what do you expect. We ordered the combo pancakes and the half order of fried rice. The half order portion was huge - I still had leftovers after the meal. Cash and credit cards accepted but it’s more expensive to use credit cards. The view of the water was great and our waitress was efficient. Everyone was chilling and assuming that you’re not in a rush, it is a good place to stop by.
Shanelle S — Google review
An outdoor seating restaurant with superior service and food. We waited 30 minutes for a table and when left there were at least that many people in line for a table. When my sandwich got soggy because I hadn't eaten it fast enough, the waitress volunteered to return it to the cook to be regrilled. Many of the sides, sauces, and condiments are made in house. A great experience.
Clayton B — Google review
Listen, the food here is absolutely delicious and the staff were so quick and friendly. My husband and I split the pancakes and fried rice but we still couldn’t finish it all so just know the portions are huge! If it weren’t for the outrageous wait times with no organization around waiting to be seated (putting a name down), then I would’ve ranked this a 5/5. We got there right at open and there was a long line waiting already, which we expected but thought it would move faster than it did. It took us nearly an hour of standing in line to be seated, which at some point just isn’t worth it to me. My husband didn’t seem to mind, so to each his own, but I was absolutely drained and just wanted to rest. There was only one provided bench and pool loungers from the hotel that’s next to it, but the loungers were covered in water from the rain and bird poop, so you’re more than likely going to have to stand the whole time. Once again, not the biggest deal to some people, but it was nearly a deal breaker for me. If you can get around that, it’s absolutely worth the hype!
Emmy I — Google review
This is a not-so-hidden “Gem” spot.. that should most definitely be on your “must eat” Maui list! Go early in your trip, as you will have leftovers for days — portions are THAT generous! Be prepared to wait in line - but soooo worth it. ENJOY🌊

Merriman's Kapalua is a renowned oceanfront restaurant located at the point on Kapalua Bay in the Kapalua Resort. The restaurant features Hawaiian regional cuisine by James Beard award-winning Chef Peter Merriman, known for his farm-to-table commitment with over 90% of ingredients locally sourced. The elegant indoor dining area offers romantic ambiance with cozy, candlelit tables and vaulted ceilings. At sunset, diners can capture breathtaking views as the sun disappears over the ocean.
We had the most lovely sunset dinner here! The girl singing with her guitar was amazing!! We really enjoyed ourselves and had a great meal. We will be back when we come back! Great bar and cocktail service on their deck out front as well. Really pretty place to watch the sunset.

We had the pleasure of dining at Merriman’s in Maui during our honeymoon, and it was an unforgettable experience. The food was absolutely amazing — the macadamia nut crusted fish was out of this world, and the freshly baked bread with tomato and oil was such a delicious start to the meal. What really made our experience special, though, was the outstanding service. Our server, Ben, was fantastic — so friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain the menu to us. After dinner, we went down to the outdoor area where we met Nolan, the bartender, who was not only great at what he does but also a pleasure to talk with. On our last night in Maui, we returned for late-night drinks and were taken care of by Viola, who was just as wonderful and friendly. Thank you, Merriman’s, for helping make our honeymoon so memorable. We can’t wait to come back!

Everything was perfection! We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and so glad we did. The macadamia crusted catch of the day was excellent and so fresh. The dessert and other plates were so good too. Not to mention the ambiance and the amazing service - our server was so nice, attentive and passionate about the food. Highly recommend!

Spot on for fine dining. We had our kids with us and they were accommodating for children which I appreciate. The service was immaculate. There is a happy hour bar that does not accept reservations, but if you want to dine, I’d recommend reservations. The adults ordered: ahi sashimi (10/10) with fresh wasabi (holy moly) Oysters (off menu) (10/10) Caesar salad (8/10) Macadamia nut crusted fresh catch (7/10) Filet mignon (10/10) My kids ordered steak and pasta and everyone was very happy with their meal. We also got icecream and crème brûlée (off menu) which was immaculate.

What an amazing place! We had never been during our previous visits to Maui, now we'll be sure not to miss it! Absolutely stunning views during an outstanding dinner! Andy, our Server, was fantastic and attentive, yet didn't rush us at all. We had a table on the railing, which is as good as it gets! Before the sunset, all shades were raised so the entire restaurant could experience it! Now the food and drinks, perfect. The Mai Tais were delicious. We had the Sashimi Special for an appetizer which was uber fresh, the Ceviche which was delicious, and then dinner consisted of the Scallop and Clam option, along with the Ono and seared Ahi option. Everything was super flavorful and delicious. Dessert was the bread pudding with Macadamia and carmel... unreal. It's a MUST to end your evening with that! All in all a perfect dinner at one of the best restaurants with one amazing view. Thank you, and we can't wait to visit again!

We had a wonderful dinner at Merrimans on our honeymoon! The views were stunning, service was 10/10, and food was phenomenal. It’s a must-try spot for a romantic dinner. We had the crusted mahi mahi, filet, poke, and quesadillas. The bread pudding was incredible well! They also brought out a lovely dessert to congratulate us. We will be back here soon!

Celebrated our honeymoon in Maui about a month ago and had reserved about 3 months in advance at Merriman’s. One of the best decisions we made for this trip. From the moment we entered to the moment we left, the staff made us feel beyond welcome. They offered us small drinks to toast our honeymoon, the food was AMAZING, our waiter Robert was very knowledgeable and friendly, and they showed a lot of carefulness to our food intolerances/preferences and made sure every detail was well thought of. The hostess Sam made sure were happy and comfortable and even offered to take pictures of us with the sunset which we so much appreciated. My husband and I were so happy that we decided it would be one of the places we’d happily go back to every time we visit Maui. Huge thanks to everyone who participated in making our experience so enjoyable!!

Kapalua Bay Beach is a serene and picturesque spot located on the northwest side of Maui. The crescent-shaped cove is known for its tranquil waters, making it an ideal location for snorkeling and scuba diving. Visitors can expect to encounter a variety of marine life, including sea turtles, parrotfish, and moray eels. The beach's golden sands, swaying palm trees, and coral reefs add to its natural beauty.
This was by far the nicest beach for us. It was beyond beautiful. The snorkeling was safe and rewarding. Lots of sea life like eels, turtles, and a variety of fish. The water was warm and turquoise blue. Plenty of sand to call home for the day. Close bathrooms, showers. There are some paid parking spots available close by. There is also paid parking across the street @ $10 for 3 hours or $15/day. You pay with your smartphone.
DcDalton — Google review
A pristine beach with breathtaking views! There are day use rentals & great shore snorkeling with a variety of fish, coral and several large sea turtles. Parking ranges from $18-$20 if there’s no free street parking-it’s a paved five minute path to the beach with nice permanent restrooms with outdoor running water to clean your Sandals etc Definitely check it out!
April — Google review
Great beach! Seemed like parking could be tight but never had a problem because we got there in the morning. I swam a couple of times out here with my 8 y/o son and the waves never got very big compared to other beaches we went to. Saw a lot of fish especially along the one side of the bay where there was a lot of coral that hadn't been trampled on
Ryan F — Google review
Very nice beach with excellent snorkeling. Decent amount of parking, but it can fill up toward the middle of the day so I’d recommend coming earlier rather than later. Street parking is free if you can find a spot, and the parking lot is pretty expensive at $33 for a day pass (the only option). The Kapalua Coastal Trail starts here as well and is an extremely nice out-and-back trail that follows the pacific coast. Very nice bathroom that is well-maintained and clean. This is a must-visit spot if you are in the area.
Casey L — Google review
Beautiful little beach, easy access, expensive parking. You have to pay for a day pass, with tax is over $30. We hung out for several hours and had a great time, felt like it was worth it. I snorkeled the whole bay, saw several turtles, a ton of fish, an eel, and supposedly someone saw an octopus. My kids played in the sand and the waves. Plenty of nice beach for them without coral or lava rock too close to tear them up. Just out from the beach there is lots of coral for exploring. Really cool spot. It was pretty crowded when we go there, but it cleared out when it rained (I didn’t even know it was raining because I was snorkeling lol). We will probably go back here if in the area.
Aaron D — Google review
Further north along the coast of Maui sits Kapalua Bay, a beautiful bay with a nice but small beach and decent snorkeling options. The journey to the beach was a bit long as parking is a bit of a walk out and even more so if you choose not to pay for parking (we are cheap so we didn’t). The walk itself is pretty and the path is nice with a wash off area included at the entrance point where there are bathrooms as well. The beach itself is on the smaller side than others so finding a spot may take an early arrival or patience as a whole. The water is clear although when we went further out the visibility was not as good as it was the days prior at Black Rock Beach. As for snorkeling specifically, the fish variety was alright and the lower visibility, although not terrible, certainly didn’t grant as much fun as we had hoped. Unfortunately as mentioned before, if the snorkeling isn’t good then there isn’t much else going for the beach as it is a bit smaller and crowded. If we had to label it as something we would call it more of a lounging beach, a relaxing place to enjoy the view and waves. We could have just had bad luck with snorkeling that day so that’s something to note as others may have had a different experience. Nevertheless, it’s a beach. Go out and enjoy the waves!
Amber L — Google review
We got a condo down in Kihei - about 40 minute drive to this beach - and ended up on this beach 3 out of the 8 days we were here as this is the best beach we've gone to! It being a bay is very safe, the beach is great for kids to play in, and snorkeling is phenomenal. We recommend that you don't park in the lot by the beach - 40.00 bucks I think, but try to find a spot along the road right next to the lot OR park at the tennis courts above the road where parking is 15 for the whole day. Definitely a beach worth a try!
Petar V — Google review
Beautiful snorkeling! One of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Soft golden sand. Clear blue green water. Beautiful, colorful fish, including large parrot fish, surgeon fish, and puffer fish. We also saw one spot butterfly fish, banded wrasses, box fish, a large school of white fish, a needle fish, ornate butterfly fish, Sargent fish, damsel fish, pink sea urchins, Black Sea urchins, puffy red urchins, and a sea turtle. There were a few still living corals, too.

Asian fusion restaurant
Joey's Kitchen Napili is a popular and laid-back cafe that offers a variety of dishes, including poke, fish tacos, and seafood mains. Chef Joey Macadangdang has elevated the menu with his Filipino fusion cuisine, featuring island favorites like fresh fish and traditional Filipino dishes such as pancit, embutido, and lumpia. The restaurant is known for its Crispy Pata dish, which was even featured by Guy Fieri.
The staff was so friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich and garlic chicken, as well as the POG drink. We are so glad we came across this hidden gem, and will definitely recommend!

We sat in the front window seat. You order upon entering. We asked for water and they brought a large glass bottle with a seal on top and two cold metal glasses. I liked the water and the glasses but my wife would have preferred ice. Seating wasn’t very comfortable and tables were family style and larger tables were meant to be shared. I had fish and chips. The fish was great. It was hot, very tender and juicy, and the batter was light and tasty. The fries were not to my liking, as they were the stringy hard ones, but I acknowledge others like that style. The service was good. The food was not quick, but reasonable for the high quality. I could see that the experience at the counter was very different and had a great deal of interaction with the staff and could see into the kitchen. I have had take out from here and it was very good.

A good selection of gluten-free options. The garlic shrimp and braised beef short ribs were delicious. The crispy pork belly was super tasty! Generous portions. Friendly staff and atmosphere.

Incredible incredible Filipino food. Hands down one of the best lumpia, crispy pasta, garlic shrimp, and garlic chicken I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor and eat here ASAP. It’s def worth the trip. This is one of the best meals I’ve had on the island. Mabuhay!

This local spot is such a delight! Everything here tastes so fresh and full of life. The mahi mahi and salmon were bursting with flavor, carrying that special “taste of Maui” in every bite. What I especially love is the little surprise on the plate — rice and fish paired with a peanut butter sauce. It’s unexpected, but it works beautifully. If you’re someone who enjoys trying unique touches, this is pure happiness on a plate! 😋❤️ P.S. Today is the next day, and we enjoyed Kauai shrimp and Huli Huli chicken — it was absolutely scrumptious!

We returned to Joey’s kitchen a number of times, all the food was delicious and the service was always awesome. Garlic Chicken, braised beef ribs, Garlic Kauai shrimp, I don’t think there’s anything you can get that isn’t great! Can’t wait to go back!
Mo S — Google review
Great food and friendly service, even close to closing! We arrived around 7:40 PM (they close at 8), and even though there were still quite a few people in line, the wait wasn’t bad at all. They ran out of the pork adobo by then. We ordered the pork lumpia, crispy Brussels sprouts, pork belly plate, Kalua pork and cabbage, and the garlic chicken plate. Pork lumpia: Super crispy and moist filling. Brussels sprouts: Crispy and topped with a creamy mayo-based sauce and Parmesan. Pork belly: Skin was nice and crispy, but the meat was a bit dry and could’ve used more seasoning. The vinegar sauce on the side helped. Kalua pork & cabbage: Well-seasoned, tender, and paired nicely with rice. Garlic chicken: Fried and topped with a sweet glaze—not what I expected, but it was still good. The meat was moist and flavorful. The food was good, nothing amaaazing about it though. Portions were generous. Would definitely come back to try more.

Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar is a trendy and vibrant eatery that offers Japanese-Pacific Rim cuisine and creative sushi rolls. Located in a plantation-style building, the restaurant is known for its contemporary atmosphere and innovative dishes. The menu features a variety of options, including panko-crusted ahi sashimi, the famous Kapalua Butterfly roll, shrimp dynamite, crab ramen, and Asian shrimp cake.
Great place for good sushi and seafood. The Grilled Hawaiian Ahi and Shrimp Cake plate was unbelievable and to drink, the Kai Tai was perfect. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful with the menu regarding what our kids can/can't eat. Even talked to the chef to cater to our kids food needs.

Came here last night as recommended by a friend’s friend & it did not disappoint! We made a reservation a couple hours beforehand but I’m not sure if it was really needed. Our server, Sonny, was the best! For small plates ordered the panko crusted ahi as recommended by Sonny, & also the lobster crab ravioli which were both delicious. For rolls we did the Hawaiian, scallop & cucumber, spicy hamachi, takah, & unagi rolls which were all tasty. The prices seemed reasonable & weren’t significantly more than what I would pay for sushi at home. I would definitely come again & recommend to friends & family. (For pictures, I didn’t take one of the lobster crab ravioli or I think the unagi roll)

Sansei is more than just a sushi spot—it’s a Hawaiian culinary experience that masterfully fuses Japanese tradition with bold Pacific Rim creativity. Whether you're dining in Honolulu, Waikoloa, Kapalua, or Kihei, expect a lively atmosphere, exceptional service, and a menu that surprises and delights. The food? Fresh, flavorful, and adventurous. The Asian Rock Shrimp Cake is a must-try appetizer: crispy on the outside, tender inside, and rich in umami. The Mango Crab Salad Hand Roll is a tropical dream—sweet, creamy, and perfectly balanced. And the Panko-Crusted Ahi? A standout dish with a golden crunch that gives way to silky, seared tuna. The vibe is upbeat yet casual, perfect for everything from romantic dates to group dinners. The staff are warm and attentive, adding a touch of aloha to every interaction. Sansei manages to be both a local favorite and a tourist treasure. It’s the kind of place you remember long after the vacation ends—and the kind of food you wish you could bring home with you. Rating: 9/10 – A flavor-packed must-visit

Our only regret is we discovered this place the 2nd to last night of our trip but we did make it two nights in a row! If you’re staying at the Ritz, do yourself a favor and make the 7 minute walk here for dinner. Having come back from my first trip to Japan 2 months ago, my standards for sushi were high. However, the melt in your mouth butterfish nigiri along with a tuna crunch roll, was the perfect marriage of US style rolls and Japanese fresh fish. Service was phenomenal both times we were there. We hope to come back soon!

I’m doing another sushi review—with the disclaimer that I usually stick to sushi rolls—but this place is an absolute must-visit. It’s like a culinary theme park for sushi lovers. The rolls and dishes coming out of the kitchen are visually stunning, packed with flavor, and made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The staff is outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. Even during the off-season, the restaurant drew a steady crowd, which says a lot about its reputation. I can only imagine how packed it gets during peak season. If you plan to visit, I highly recommend making a reservation to secure a seat or at least reduce your wait time. —- 4 days later. Unfortunately, our second visit was a letdown. While the menu still features some great options, it was clear a different chef was behind the counter this time. The sushi rolls were underwhelming—more like small samples than full rolls. To be fair, I’m not a huge sushi fan and usually stick to a familiar category, but even by those standards, these just didn’t measure up.

We stopped here for a dinner date night while staying at the near by hotel. Craving some sushi, it’s nice to have this restaurant close by to the hotel. The food we ordered was tasty and the fish fresh.
Bay R — Google review
Wow!! You absolutely must try the butterfish. It is hands down one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. The sauce was perfection and it just melts in your mouth. All of the food was excellent, we ordered so much! Nothing disappointed. Us and we had a great time. We went on Monday and showed up around 4:45 to a big line of people waiting for the happy hour. It was a perfect dinner for our last night in Maui!

Nestled in the upscale enclave of Kapalua, The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua is a luxurious beach resort that offers a blend of natural beauty, golf, and Hawaiian culture. With 463 recently renovated rooms set on 54 acres, the property honors local traditions and features a Hawaiian Cultural Advisor. Guests can enjoy a tiered pool area, six restaurants, championship golf courses, and various water- and land-based activities.
Incredible!!! 5 out of 5 stars. They treat you like part of the family. Everyone is friendly, accommodating, the suites are lovely and the atmosphere is beautiful. Live music in the lounge every night and 24h access to the 3-tier waterfall pool is a wonderful touch. The restaurants are also top notch. An absolute must!

My husband and I have traveled a lot together combining work trips with sightseeing, but this was our first week long vacation to truly relax in a long time. It was an absolutely perfect week, from the room to the service to the food. The atmosphere was relaxed and sophisticated but not snobby. We loved the club lounge, spending a lot of our days there reading a book and meeting other couples. The staff was phenomenal and you can tell they truly take pride in their jobs. Thank you so much, I can only hope we get a chance to spend time there again!

A Place of Aloha and Excellence – Our Home Away from Home The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua is truly exceptional. My wife and I have had the pleasure of staying here multiple times, and we were so impressed by the level of service and beauty of the resort that we decided to host our wedding party here. It was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. Every visit reminds us why we continue to return. The staff embodies the spirit of aloha — warm, gracious, and genuinely committed to making each guest’s experience extraordinary. The property itself is breathtaking, surrounded by lush landscapes and overlooking the most beautiful coastline in Maui. From world-class dining and thoughtful amenities to the peaceful, rejuvenating atmosphere, every aspect of the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua reflects excellence. It is a place that blends luxury with heart, and it will always be one of our favorite destinations in the world.

Not the Luxury Experience You’d Expect... If you're seeking comfort, attentive service, and true luxury, the Ritz Maui may not meet your expectations. While the location is beautiful, the beach in front of the resort is far from the best on the island. Oddly, at exactly 3:50 PM, guests are asked to return their chairs and either leave the beach or sit directly on the sand—something we’ve never experienced at a supposed five-star resort. The pools have potential, but the atmosphere is disrupted by staff unpacking outdoor furniture in the middle of the day. Rooms are smaller compared to other hotels we’ve stayed at, and ours had an unpleasant odor. The biggest letdown, however, was the service. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary, and unlike every other hotel we've visited—including more affordable ones—there was no special welcome or acknowledgment. A small gesture can go a long way in making guests feel valued, and sadly, that was completely missing here. As for the bar, cocktails are overpriced and underwhelming—not worth it. We had just come from the Four Seasons, where the experience was leagues better in every aspect. Overall, this stay was a real disappointment. We expected so much more from a Ritz-Carlton !!...
Mel B — Google review
The property itself is beautiful — lush, well-maintained, and definitely feels like a premium resort. However, I wouldn’t quite call it “Ritz standard.” The staff were friendly but not as well-trained or polished as what we experienced at the Four Seasons. Service overall was good, but not exceptional. Now, the food… this is where things really fall short. With the exception of the lobby restaurant — which serves a fantastic burger and a delicious Caesar salad — the rest was disappointing. The poolside menu was underwhelming, the beach restaurant was just okay, and the buffet was mediocre at best. Unfortunately, the pricing is very much Ritz-level, but the quality isn’t even close. If you’re staying here, skip most of the on-property dining and head to the small convenience store right by the entrance — surprisingly, their breakfast and sandwiches are much better. Overall, I’m still giving it 4 stars because the property and amenities are gorgeous. But the culinary team needs a serious overhaul, and the service could use some sharpening to live up to the Ritz name.

A once in a lifetime experience here at the Maui Ritz. This was my first Ritz Carlton experience and I was blown away by everything this hotel offers. The location is amazing, a five minute walk from hotel rooms to beach. Beautiful grounds that are well maintained, lots of green acres to walk and explore. Tennis courts, basketball court, pickle ball courts, all available between the beach and hotel for guests to use. The hotel pool is huge with three different areas to swim in, but why use the pool when the beach is incredible and just a short walk away. Guests have access to beach chairs and umbrellas during the daytime. The waves here can be calm or aggressive depending on the weather. Sand is warm and soft, water is clean and cool. The hotel is large with many rooms options with nice ocean view balconies. The hotel offers a nice gym to use as well. Spa and massage options are available. We opted for the extra club lounge for food at $300 a day extra. The hotel is somewhat far away from food options on the island so having the club lounge available for breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks was nice. Dinner is available at their main restaurant and has plenty of options on the menu. I had their smash burger twice and it’s one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. If you’re on Maui and can afford $1000+ a night for a hotel, look no other place than this Ritz hotel for your stay.
Bay R — Google review
Everything about this place is perfect! It lives up to the name and definitely worth the visit. The golf course was under maintenance so we couldn’t find a way to play but the overall resort experience is very good. The only reason I have 4 on location is because it’s far away from everything else, if you’re trying to see the whole island probably not the best place to stay however if you’re here for just a good relaxing time, don’t think twice and book this gem of a place.
Prateek A — Google review
We enjoyed our recent stay at The Ritz Maui, especially the beautiful views and incredibly friendly staff. However, a few things fell short of what we expect from a Ritz property. There were a lot of bugs around the pool area, some mold in our shower, and a wasp nest on our balcony. The gym and resort activities were decent but not exceptional. Overall, it was a good stay — just not quite the level of excellence we anticipated given the brand and price. It is also an hour from the airport.

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Kapalua Ziplines, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Kapalua Coastal Trail. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Kapalua Ziplines, located in the hills above Kapalua, offers tropical zip line tours with side-by-side lines. It is Maui's largest all-dual zipline course, featuring a total of 8,500ft of lines and a choice between four-line or six-line adventures. The zipline course provides exhilarating experiences as riders soar above jungle treetops at heights of up to 300 feet with stunning ocean views.
We had the best time with Lauren and Gavin! We were a family of 5 and they were so accommodating, fun and friendly. They took great care of us and we felt safe the entire time, plus Lauren took great pictures of us. Gavin made sure to catch us and knew what he was doing. They both made the entire Ziplining experience the best part of our trip! Would definitely recommend this for some adventure and adrenaline!!

Loved this zip line experience!! It was so cool to be able to zip line tandem and be next to my friend. Our guides Savannah and Lauren were so fun and took the time to get to know everyone in the group and also made sure everyone was safe and having a good time! Beautiful views and a fun atmosphere! I will defy book with them again in the future!

Best experience we've ever had ziplining! The crew made us feel so safe and non stop entertainment. Sav had the best personality and always made sure everyone was having a great time. Dylan and Johnny were amazing at catching us from flying off the lines ha! Highly, highly recommend this fun adventure while visiting Maui. Worth every penny!

We thought about ziplining at Kualoa Ranch in Oahu but decided to wait until we were in Maui so we could come here since I had heard soo many good things about Kapalua Ziplines. We did the 6-line zipline tour & had A BLAST. Zocia & Lawson were our awesome guides whom helped make ziplining even more fun. Many of the ziplines had covered areas with water which was great since it was so hot. I wouldn't wear white like my husband did as you do get dirty, but it did wash out easily. We bought the flash drive for $50 for all the pictures & videos Zocia captured from the day & love it. I would definitely recommend Kapalua Ziplines to anyone wanting to zipline in Maui. Mahalo for the memories!

My husband and I had the best time with the Kapalua Ziplines team! Booking was easy, staff was welcoming from the moment we walked in the door! Dylan, Johnny and Brandon were very fun to be with, but focusing on safety as much as enjoyment! Provided clear expectations before every zipline. Zip lining in tandem was an amazing experience!! Liv kept us safe on the drive up the mountain and Emily, the manager, was super nice and knowledgeable! 100 % will come back!

Wow! My wife and I just went on the Kapalua Ziplines excursion during our honeymoon in Maui and we had an absolute blast! The entire staff took great care in providing an experience that was safe and fun. The guides on our tour were engaging, telling stories and getting to know us, even recommending some great things to do in Maui that not everyone knows about. At the end of the day, we left feeling exhilarated and grateful to have had such a beautiful experience. If you want to have a wonderful time and support a local business in Maui, go to Kapalua Ziplines!

James and Gavin were incredible hosts on the best zipline tour I’ve ever done. The views are absolutely stunning, the zips are fast and long, and the safety gear makes you feel completely secure. Don’t think twice—just go for it!

Britney was the best greeter! I wish I could have her at my business back home. She was so encouraging, friendly, and genuinely engaged. She really knew how to make guests feel welcome. Jonny, Justin, and Zocia were awesome too. Fun, energetic, and kept us engaged the whole time. This zipline was different from others I’ve done: it’s all about speed and the incredible views!

D.T. Fleming Beach Park is a stunning sandy oasis nestled in West Maui, just a short drive from Lahaina. Spanning over 3.4 acres, this beach park is perfect for families looking to enjoy a day of sun and fun. With lifeguards on duty during the day, visitors can feel secure while swimming or snorkeling in its inviting waters. The park boasts ample amenities including picnic areas equipped with BBQ grills, restrooms, and outdoor showers for convenience.
Beautiful beach with amazing waves for boogie boarding. Parking was a big pricey (~$30) but it was good for all day, and the beach shower was out of order when we went (3/20), so we left a bit sandy. But the experience was still incredible and worth the drive from our hotel in Kaanapali.

This is a gem find! Hit it up early too! We came on a Saturday for some relaxation but there were plenty of beach goers. A lifeguard was on duty also. Down into the entrance to the beach area there is also a couple of food trucks too. Plenty of space for a fun day at the beach. Off in the distance you can see part of Kapalua Golf- the bay course as well.

Lovely public sand beach with a life guard on duty. It was not crowded with this being a Tuesday afternoon during the school year. The beach is framed by two outcroppings on each end offering protection from direct ocean waves. There were several food trucks and a permanent burger shack up a slight incline on the Ritz Carlton golf course. Plenty of options for a leisurely day.
Mike S — Google review
Nice beach with soft sand. Reefs on the right are nice for snorkling. Left side is more sand and good for kids. There is some free parking and also paid Bathrooms, tables, and lifeguard. Loved it as parking was right there and no long walks to get to beach.

One of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever been to. Clean beach, restroom facilities. Only downside is paying for parking.
John H — Google review
What a horrible beach experience. The wind was insane (there is almost no wind currently at our resort beach in Kahana), the shore breaking waves was awful, and the parking is horrendous. Had I known how awful this experience would be, I wouldn't have followed my in-laws here, and just stayed in Kahana instead!

Signage isn't great, but they do have life guards. We witnessed a med-evac today (praying for the patient). The beach is nice, food, drinks, and bathrooms close by. The ocean is six shades of blue here, and you can see Molokai in the distance. Near to the Ritz Carlton Resort, golf course, and Makaluapuna Point. REMINDER-Wear SUNSCREEN! Bring WATER!

It's known for its friendly service and aloha spirit.
Loved this place! We ate here every day for lunch while staying at the Ritz Carlton up the road. Not only was it extremely affordable compared to everything else in the area, it was fantastic. You can get high quality sashimi and sushi for ridiculously low prices, and they have plenty of other Hawaiian snacks and entrees to choose from. Also would be a good spot to grab souvenirs or sunscreen if you need it!

The ube pancakes are a must. We got them two days in a row. Ube pancake with ube syrup made them really tasty. Prices are significantly lower than sit down restaurants and the food quality is the same. We also tried the Deluxe Island Breakfast with Portuguese sausage and potatoes. Excellent food, reasonable prices, beer, drinks, souvenirs, and nicotine products.

I highly recommend stopping by the grocery store if you’re looking for simple souvenirs or basic items. One absolute treat for just five dollars is the pineapple soft-serve Dole Whip—a perfect evening dessert to share while listening to the roosters and enjoying the peaceful scenery.

This place is a daily stop for the guests at the near by hotel. They have food, drinks, snacks, souvenirs all for sale. The banana bread is very tasty. I did not try any of their hot food selection but they offer plenty.

Great grocery store with a drinks counter that has boba and hot food. Came here after hiking the Kapalua Coastal Trail and we availed of the cold drinks they had. We ordered honey green tea and a mango green tea with boba. They have groceries and souvenirs as well; we grabbed some aloe vera for our sunburns. There’s outdoor seating and a parking lot so everything was very convenient.

Ritz Carlton is awesome and food was decent/good but lunch at the poolside cost an arm and a leg! So glad this spot is literally 5 min walk away and the food was delicious and prices comparatively was Heaven on Earth. Life saver! So many choices!

We stopped here to pickup some beach grinds. ATMOSPHERE: If you haven't been here in a while, you definitely need to go back and check them out. They've done yet another re-transformation into ultra modernness. Entry is now from the side along Office Rd. The perimeter still boasts covered outdoor seating with nice views of the green Kapalua Resort. The inside has totally shifted into a very visually-inviting experience and draws you back towards the takeout counter & coffee bar which is reminiscent of a modern city eatery complete with big & bright electronic menu screens. THE STORE: It's a mix of coffee bar, deli, sundries, groceries, produce, clothing, and wine/beer/alcohol. F&B: Coffee bar, breakfast foods, hot dogs, burgers, chicken wings, sandwiches & salads. FOOD: Honolua Swiss Mushroom Burger If this is offered on any menu, I HAVE to try it! This one did not disappoint. I'd consider it a medium-sized burger which was just right for me. The homemade patty was juicy, the bun soft, and the overall flavor delicious. Off to the side were lettuce, tomatoes and a big quartered dill pickle. Fries came with it (a very generous amount no less,) and I opted for seasoned curly fries which shot this sucker to 5 shiny stars. All this for just over $9? Thank you for that. Saimin Not bad at all, and a good portion size to boot. The dark broth had that traditional saimin-flavor of pork and veggies and came loaded with way too much luncheon meat, sliced scrambled eggs and green onions. The noodles were thick and cooked nicely. My only complaint is that it was difficult to spoon the broth from the tall container. In addition to the usual snack items, I also was introduced to Chic Naturals, a local company selling chick peas in a variety of flavors. Maui Onion? Yes please! Tasty and healthy. SERVICE: For deli service, you order and pickup at the counter then pay at the front of the store. The male employee taking orders was friendly and repeated back orders to assure accuracy. The female cashier was friendly and quick. OVERALL: A one-stop-shop for odds and ends complete with a mouth-watering eatery.

Hiking area
The Kapalua Coastal Trail is a leisurely 1.76-mile pathway that offers stunning natural beauty and coastal views in Maui. It starts at Kapalua Beach and winds its way to Namalu Bay, Oneloa Bay, and D.T. Fleming Beach, showcasing rock cliffs, tide pools, and the chance to see sea turtles along some of the island's most beautiful beaches. The trail is mostly paved and flat, making it accessible for all skill levels.
Very walkable trail. Much of the trail is on a paved path and the parts that aren’t are still pretty flat. It passes a few beaches so it’s nice to be able to take a break while looking at the scenery. The signs say it’s a 1.76-mile out-and-back type hike.

The best part...the views!! What a great hike! We took in the salty ocean air and enjoyed the trail! I'm not in shape and just started working out a couple weeks before this trip and I'd say, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Still took my breath away but I'd just stop and take a quick break.

Great hike! Trail is a bit confusing in a couple places. Bring lots of water and start early. We had zero cloud cover and 30 oz each was not enough at 8:30am so we didn’t go all the way. Beautiful views!

Nice trail with a mix of things to see. 2 beaches along trail. The first one is narrow with calm water and good for snorkeling. The other is at further end and is wide and rougher surf. The bird area is stinky like bird crap. Trail is rugged in the middle. There is a cliff diving spot along trail. Nice condos in this area.

Beautiful views, easy walk but some places are rocky. Gorgeous bay inlet for snorkeling with a couple of great beach spots.

We got to see baby birds in their natural habitat. The trail is in the wide open so we went early before heat and sun forced us out. There is sand, concrete, boardwalk, and lava rock as the terrain changes throughout the hike.

Known for its use of fresh, sustainable products, THE POUR HOUSE provides an innovative menu that showcases a delicious mix of international flavors. It's recognized as one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Kapalua and has received accolades for its culinary offerings.
One of the better Italian restaurants I’ve eaten at anywhere. The staff were friendly and kind including the owner who is on the floor touching every table. We loved it so much we came back a second night during our stay at the Ritz. It’s walking distance from the hotel. Good restaurants in Maui are iffy and overpriced, but this place was consistently amazing two separate nights. Thanks for making memorable dinners during our visit. We really appreciate you.

Visited recently and am suprised with the low reviews. My husband and I like to dine here when we visit Maui— its a solid spot for italian food and wine. Perhaps after covid/fires they had a mishap with service. They certainly are trying to remedy, maybe even a bit extra hah. Regardless, the food is good, atmosphere cute, easy parking. I recommend eating here.

Best meal we had our entire honeymoon week in Maui. Sooo delicious. I got the Alfredo and mixed his homemade marinara into it- truly one of the best meals I've ever had. He's also a very sweet man, catered to us directly and educated us about the food. Thoroughly impressed and planning to come back here on our next trip in 2027! Thanks for a great night! 😊

We came to The Pour House for dinner one night during our honeymoon. They don’t have a liquor license, but you can bring your own from the nearby liquor store with no corkage fee—which was a big plus since we didn’t have to pay the usual high drink prices on the island. The owner offered us a plate of burrata, and while it was delicious, we thought it was just a little sample. Instead, it ended up being a full appetizer—and he chose the most expensive burrata option on the menu—which we were charged for. That part felt a bit forced and left us uncomfortable. For mains, we ordered the short rib bolognese and the short rib lasagna, and both were excellent—rich, flavorful, and definitely worth it. Overall, the food was fantastic and the owner was friendly, but the way the burrata was handled was disappointing.

We came for dinner and the food was somewhat edible to say the least. The service was exceptional with friendly staff that were very attentive. Ordered chopped antipasto salad and all the meats, cheeses, and other ingredients were chopped so fine except for the greens that I used a spoon to eat it. The salad certainly was missing ingredients or were so finely minced that I didn't taste them...salad was warm too. The entrees we ordered describes all the fine wholesome ingredients used in these dishes but they are lacking. The chicken ravioli dish consisted of six Costco brand frozen raviolis and the filling inside was a creamy glob of chicken. The meatballs are what you get at Costco were not homemade. The red sauce that smothers the pasta is acidic and bitter . The menu reads well and makes your mouth water but the food is Poor quality made with Poor ingredients.
Biagio R — Google review
Host greeted us with "our kitchen closes in 30 minutes"....Great start to the first impression. It was 7:30, but restaurant closes at 9 online, and posted at the store. They "just got their liquor license renewed" aka they lost it previously due to someone being under aged...assuming. Asked for a wine list, but they don't have one....a wine bar with no wine list? Server rattled off a few cheap wines theyp have by the glass instead. Great. Besides the rush job service, bad host, the food is excellent!!! Prices are more expensive than the Ritz. It was $34 for Pasta carbonara, protein cost extra...and it was a laughable small portion of pasta. Are we really trying to save food cost on pasta? Most restaurants don't skimp on pasta portions because it's cheap. Jokes asides, my 5-7 bites of pasta carbonara was really good, but the food quality is about the only thing this restaurant has going for them.

we came in at 5:45 and the place was about 1/3 full. it took us a while to seat as I only saw one server and the manager? we sat and i saw several other tables with menus but no cocktails so I assumed we would have to wait. which we did it did take a while for someone to come over to our table and we found out it was the manager/ owner , not sure. he was very nice and took our order. we heard him talking at another table and said he was from puglia. we talked a bit about Italy as we are moving there. once we got our order in the it sped up a little. I wasn’t sure at first but it’s nice to relax and not be rushed the food the Antipasto salad was amazing chopped salami artichokes olives lettuce tomatoes and an excellent dressing. entrees brown butter cacio e pepe and the toasted tortellini both were great. desert Paia homemade gelato hazelnut was excellent. You will wait here but it was totally worth it.

Burger Shack is a laid-back beach stand that offers a delectable selection of burgers, seafood, shakes, as well as beer and cocktails. Located on the sandy shores of Kauai, it provides stunning ocean views and a relaxed atmosphere. It's an ideal spot for beach downtime and indulging in hearty burger offerings.
We had heard great things about Burger Shack and wanted to try it ourselves. We were not disappointed. We had such a fun lunch eating burgers and drinking milkshakes. The views from the tables were outstanding and added to the ambiance. For a "shack" that serves burgers it wasn't cheap but it is on the Ritz Carlton property so we knew that going in. If you're looking for a good burger and shakes, then this should be a place for you to check out.
Jason B — Google review
We ate here twice during our trip to Maui while staying at the Ritz. Once for poke and once for a burger. Both times we also treated ourselves to a tasty milkshake. Do yourself a favor and skip the whipped cream as it’s not very tasty on the shake. The views for this little burger shack are nice, ocean views overlooking the local beach. If you’re staying at the Ritz and using their beach I’m sure you’ll enjoy a meal here.

The location here is fantastic, right on the water, beautiful views. It's a little tricky to get to, exit off highway 30 and followed the signs to DT Fleming Beach. The parking is not so good, there's a tiny lot that is free and almost always full. A somewhat bigger lot is across the street but they charge $35 to park. It's not so bad a deal if you're going to stay there all day and swim snorkel etc because the $35 covers 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but if you're only going for a burger, well ya know. The food is pricey around $30 to $39 for a burger and fries. However, the food is really outstanding. It's not quite as good as it was a couple of years ago, at that time I asked to be taken to the kitchen so I could give them a "my compliments to the chef!" It truly was the best burger I ever eaten in my life. Still really good now, not quite as seasoned and a bit smaller. But that's pretty much what everything in America is now. It is absolutely worth checking out, especially if you go for the whole day and enjoy the beautiful beach.

We stumbled upon this gem and ended up coming back multiple times during our trip! The outdoor seating offers absolutely incredible views, making it the perfect setting for a relaxed and scenic afternoon meal. Every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with quality ingredients. The service was consistently excellent—friendly, attentive, and welcoming without being overbearing. Whether you're just passing through or staying nearby, this spot is a must for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable lunch in a beautiful setting.

Never eaten a burger with a better view! This spot is right on the ocean with stunning views of the water and islands. Burgers are huge so come with an appetite or split a burger with a friend. They were nice enough to cut our burger in half and even had the option of choosing two different sides ($3-ish extra charge for splitting). Fries were thick and crispy and the side salad was refreshing and a good portion. We ordered the Double Decker Burger which was super tall and juicy but really messy which wasn’t a problem for me but wouldn’t recommend on a first date… also tried the Oreo Cookie shake which was delicious and just what we expected. Someone in our group ordered the Hula Girl shake and said it tasted very tropical and came with an Almond Joy on top. We wanted to try the Royal Kona (coffee and chocolate chip cookie) shake but they ran out by the time we ordered (2:00pm on a Monday). Make a day of it by bringing beach chairs/snorkel gear and head to the water just below the restaurant after eating! It’s a pretty far walk from the Ritz Carlton, with walking shoes, it might be worth checking out the beautiful hotel up the hill. Our party of 6 plus a toddler was able to sit at a big table together and they brought out a high chair. Chickens and birds were running around everywhere which was great entertainment, especially for the toddler. Parking lot was pretty full, but we were able to find a spot quickly and QR code payment was easy. Great burgers, great location, great service!
Melia — Google review
Honestly the burgers were just ok and for 30$ that’s just not it. The shakes are a 5/5 however! Wait staff and the manager walking around were very kind (low key our waitress might have been having a bad day, but that happens). I would recommend for the vibes but check the price to make sure you really want it first.

This place is beyond delicious! We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, and it was so convenient to grab a burger and head straight to the lounge chairs on the beach. The burger itself was a solid 10/10. Highly recommend!

Restaurant
Sea House Restaurant, located in the Napili Kai Beach Resort, offers a casual open-air setting right on the beach. It's renowned for its Pacific Rim cuisine and popular happy hour, making it one of the best dining spots in Maui with stunning ocean views. The restaurant has won multiple awards for its breakfast and happy hour offerings.
Stopped in about 4 pm for pupus and a cocktail. Service was quick and while our initial waiter was adequate there was an older gentleman who went out of his way to assist us even though we were not in his section. True Aloha, we ordered the Hurricane fries and the ribs. Such nice fare while sitting in one of the best locations! Food was delicious, and the view devine.
Hazel C — Google review
We went for happy hour. Charlene our waitress was friendly and gave good service. Variety of dishes for happy hour. Chili tequila was spicy. Wings were crispy and slightly sweet. The hurricane fries were well liked. Calamari was unfortunately not cooked properly being the only downside. The view is beautiful

Beautiful beach/ ocean front table view. The fresh fruit was delicious. The house special pancake- filled with banana and pineapple was tasty but just a little too mushy if you are in the mood for pancakes. Like eating a Custard with a thin skin and with fruit added. Overall a great breakfast spot- just will order different menu item. Sorry, the birds are cute but they come onto your table ( 5 or 6 total ) and 1-2 even eat out of the plates.
Ernie T — Google review
The view from Sea House alone is worth the trip! Stunning Napili Bay location and view. The food puts it over the top! I have been there several times for breakfast and the food and service is consistently amazing. Wendy and Marlon are fabulous. Prices are incredibly low for the large amount of food you get. This is one of my all time favorite restaurants on Maui.

We arrived at 5:30 for reservations and from that point forward it was magical. The server was top notch (April?) I swear she read my mind for when to come and fill wine and check in. She is very skilled. The Trio Fish special was incredible and the lobster was just as delicious. The gnocchi with truffle and mushroom was by far my absolute favorite. Everything was 10/10 recommend. The mango sorbet was beyond delicious. THANKS FOR A MAGICAL EVENING SEA HOUSE.
Stephanie O — Google review
What's vibe and it's right on the water. Just so beautiful and calming space. I ordered way too much the proportions are big! I loved the tofo teriyaki. The gnocchi itself melted in your mouth but the sauce was too garlicky.
Minal S — Google review
There aren't enough words to describe just how great this little seaside restaurant truly is. The food is beyond amazing. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. We requested a window table to view the sunset and they were even able to get us seated a little early, securing the last window table availability that evening. Our server Patrick was very friendly and had perfect timing. He was attentive but didn't hover and allowed time for my partner and I to enjoy our meal, the sunset and each other. As a San Diego native I can confidently say that the fresh ceviche is probably the best ive ever had. The filet DID NOT disappoint and was super flavorful. Make reservations here if you are looking for an intimate elevated beach side dining experience. As self proclaimed foodies, we highly recommend you give this place a try

Started with calamari. Outstanding. Moved on to monchong and kanpachi, 2fish we’d never heard of but they were awesome! Dessert cheesecake was a surprise gift for our anniversary and it was good. Did I mention the martinis? Fantastic. A great dining experience.

Dragon's Teeth Access Trail

Hiking area
The Dragon's Teeth Access Trail is a short detour from the Kapalua Coastal Trail in Lahaina, spanning about 0.2 miles one way with an elevation gain of approximately 157 feet. It's easily accessible from the nearby resorts and offers stunning views and a labyrinth to explore at the rocky area. While sturdy shoes are recommended, many visitors were seen wearing sandals.
Really cool place to walk around and explore. Not really much of a hike. Dragons teeth look even better in person. Watching the sunset from here is good idea too. Great ocean views. I really enjoyed this spot. A place you can spend 30 minutes or explore around for a lot longer. So many interesting things here including crazy tide pools.
Carlos A — Google review
Incredible rock formations with a fantastic view. The parking lot next to the trail charges $32 regardless of how long you spend there. But you can park for free with about a 5-7 min walk up by the Honolua store. Don’t let the black signs intimidate you, they’re just telling you to stick to the trail. Don’t cross the hedges into the cultural site.
Matt L — Google review
Beautiful little hike with amazing views of the ocean and waves! The rock formations are really cool to look at too! My husband went fishing and caught a variety of different fish. We also spotted a green sea turtle!
Mackenzie L — Google review
Delightful sunset stroll. Stunning landscapes. Found what looked like a monkey face. Loved the peaceful labyrinth. Reminded me… Sometimes the path forward looks a lot like going in circles. But if you keep walking…step by curious step…you might just find what you didn’t know you were looking for. Peace. Clarity. Maybe even yourself.
Mark F — Google review
A really beautiful place, not a long hike, pretty easy going, kid friendly, just a nice and peaceful walk to get away and see some beautiful things.
Stephanie B — Google review
Cool formation of rocks from lava flow. No shade on the trail. Have to be very careful walking on the rocks - it’s easy to twist your ankle. Limited parking available. Overall very pretty!
Harp — Google review
It's a cool hike to check out some jagged looking rocks that kind of look like dragon's teeth. The first part of the walk is much easier as it is mostly level terrain with some minor roots. The part to the cool rocks requires you to step on/ over some rocks. Take some water because there is not much shade! We also walked further down because I wanted to see some tide pool life and got some awesome ocean pictures. (I only found some snails and acorn barnacles, so it probably is not the place to tide pool, despite all the water pools, lol.) I found a tiny sea cave like thing though so that was cool!
Khiara L — Google review
Great little hike to the point overlooking the water! Visited the labyrinth and spent some time there in prayer. We also saw an urchin and sea turtles! Wear good shoes - you'll be walking on uneven ground/rocks/boulders and the closer you get to the point, the more likely the rocks are to be wet.

Religious destination
Makaluapuna Point, often referred to as Dragon's Teeth, is a captivating destination on the West Maui coast that promises breathtaking views of crashing waves and rugged landscapes. This rocky point features an intriguing labyrinth of jagged lava formations shaped by the relentless winds and ocean currents, resembling the mythical teeth of dragons. As you wander through this natural wonder, you'll find yourself surrounded by stunning vistas that invite quiet reflection and contemplation.
This hike was totally worth it! The path is a bit rocky and can be tricky to find, but we ended up taking a shortcut through the golf course to avoid the rocks. The labyrinth itself was really cool and took about 5 minutes to complete. The waves by the rocks were pretty intense, but they were also really fun to watch. Parking is a freebie for Maui locals, but tourists will have to pay $30.
BourbonBullet84 — Google review
I was looking for free things to do in Maui. For new travelers to the island I can say that is easier said then done. But I found dragons teeth and decided to venture there. Don’t be alarmed when you put Dragons Teeth in Apple Maps and it takes you to the Honolua Store at a resort. You’re on the right path. Drive past the store until the end of the road and there is parking. Be aware that it costs a whopping $33 if you have pay to park. Once to park you will see a path (stay on the path! Outside the path is a cultural and sacred site with access granted to the Hawaiian people so please be respectful) it’s a winding dirt path that transforms to a rocky path and then you see the teeth. You can stand on the edge and catch glimpses of sea turtles. You can hike along the edges and get a view of more northern part of the island. Don’t skip this scenic view
Mary B — Google review
Went here to watch the sunrise — it’s very close to our hotel and a relatively easy walk/hike (I did it in flip-flops!). We actually ended up catching the sunrise too and spent some time admiring the beautiful rock formations. There’s also a small maze there, which would be fun if you have kids. Overall, a lovely, easy spot to visit and enjoy nature!

Was looking for an easy hike and we really enjoyed the point! Spent some time in prayer at the labyrinth and then 'hiked' to the point. Views were beautiful! And we saw sea turtles floating around in the water and an urchin in one of the little tide puddles! Highly recommend - although make sure you're wearing good shoes and sure-footed. It can be difficult walking on the uneven rocks.

Slaughterhouse Beach, also known as Mokuleia Bay, is a hidden gem tucked into a cove accessible via stairs and a short trail. Despite its secluded location, it's popular among locals and visitors for body-surfing. The beach offers beautiful shades of water and plenty of sand for sunbathing. While there's no dedicated parking lot, roadside parking is available. The area is known for its scenic drive with winding roads leading to the beach.
Awesome beach for snorkeling, body surfing, and just lounging on the sand. Pretty limited parking, which keeps the beach from getting too crowded. Rented some snorkel gear in town and swam with a turtle within 10 minutes of getting in the water. Tons of fish to see and the water was perfect and not too choppy. I would definitely recommend this beach if you want to find some awesome sea life on your snorkeling adventure!

We love coming here when we're in Maui. Every time I've been there are very little people. It's a hidden gem. Very limited parking off the side of the highway but we've never had any issues. We have seen honu every time we've gone. The waves aren't too rough but also not the smoothest. But still friendly enough to get in. FYI there is stairs to get down to the beach

Great beach for swimming, snorkeling or sunbathing. Was easy to get in and out with snorkeling gear. Saw a turtle on the beach! Only downsides were pay to park and there wasn’t a ton of reef to explore.

Amazing snorkeling spot. Small beach, but will get busy. Go early in the morning to secure a good spot on the beach and parking, as parking is sparse. Wild chickens running around.

This was our favorite beach we visited on our trip to Maui. A quick drive from our hotel, we went twice. It has plenty of sand available for groups to spread out and relax in the sun. The Banyan Tree

Restaurant
The Banyan Tree, located at the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua, offers a warm and inviting dining experience under the majestic canopy of a banyan tree. The restaurant is known for its dedication to coastal-inspired culinary excellence, featuring indulgent seafood creations and dishes inspired by the island's diverse culinary heritage. With a laid-back atmosphere and impressive views of the Kapalua coast, guests can enjoy farm-to-table Pacific Rim cuisine while embracing the spirit of Lahaina and Hawaiian hospitality.
While staying at the Ritz, we had the pleasure of eating at the Banyan tree! It was such a beautiful restaurant with lots of flowers and plants everywhere and lots of photo opportunities! The food was great and filling! Some portions were a little small for the price but yummy. I think most high end restaurants are like that. As for the service, our server was the kindest. It was my birthday recently and though my birthday had already past, the server insisted on gifting me a dessert which was very yummy! This is definitely a restaurant to visit for a fancy date night or a “last day in Maui” celebration dinner.
Jia T — Google review
We came to the Ritz celebrating a couple birthdays and an anniversary. Our first night we crossed over from our lanai to the restaurant. The first thing they asked at the front is if we were guests at the Ritz and perhaps because they saw we were and that we were celebrating a few things, they continued to congratulate us throughout the night. Then we were seated in the loveliest section in the corner by the tiki torches with an unobstructed view of the sunset. The food took a little to come out but our server was very attentive with the drinks and appetizers. When the food did come out - it was worth the wait. We had the shrimp, octopus, and focaccia for starters, and then lobster gnocchi, brussel sprouts, fries and the wagyu tomahawk. For dessert the kids had chocolate cake and we ordered the banana cream pie (AMAZING BTW) and they brought us out a little mango cheesecake to celebrate our anniversary. I took one star off for atmosphere because they were playing a lot of Jack Johnson and John Meyer, which kind of dragged the energy of this otherwise vibrant place down.
Mariel M — Google review
Long time resident from upcountry. We decided to venture out to the west side. We order the specialty whole fish. It did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived at the Ritz till we got our car at value this was truly a luxury experience. This is by far one of the best food experiences we have had here. They offer a generous Kamaʻāina discount much more than any other restaurant on island. To our surprise valet parking was included as well. I would totally got back.
Digital K — Google review
This is a great spot to grab dinner if you’re staying at the Ritz! We dined here on our first night and the food was phenomenal, it’s a bit pricy but that’s to be expected and the portion sizes are generous for the entrees. For starters we got the onion dip and tuna poke and I would highly recommend both of them, probably some of the best poke we had on our trip. I got the Mahi Mahi for my entree and it was phenomenal, some of the best fish I’ve ever had. My wife got the New York strip and I thought it was fine but I think I’d recommend fish here over that. Cocktails are also good, just be prepared for a longer meal, since it’s resort dining the service can be a bit slow at times but our waitress was very friendly.
Pete W — Google review
A beautiful and royal experience. Incredible atmosphere and service. Luke was our server and made our experience one of a kind. We had the whole fish cooked in the coal oven, it was an amber jack tuna. Cooked to perfection, plentiful amounts of meat and such a decadent grouping of flavors. We picked the creamed corn and brusselsprouts as our sides and they were perfect as well. Best Mai tai that I had while in Maui. Octopus and wagyu as well. Over the top.
Maxfield A — Google review
Bit of a dark walk at night, but everything else was amazing! Went for our engagement diner it was fantastic we were greeted amazingly and they followed all request I put on open table perfectly! Luke was amazing 10/10 best service we had! Really wish that guy a good one!
Jesse G — Google review
The Banyan Tree is the main restaurant at The Ritz Carlton Kapalua. It's an open air design, dim and romantic. Food and service has been consistently good over the years.
Maui T — Google review
We visited this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Being an upscale venue at the Ritz-Carlton resort, we expected a top-level experience. Unfortunately, the service fell short — the reception and seating felt impersonal, our waiter was mechanical, and there was no welcoming touch like bread with butter or olive oil. The wines by the glass were overpriced and seemed to come from bottles opened some time ago. For starters, the Kauai shrimp were excellent, and the octopus was perfectly cooked, though served with beans that had an overpowering vinegar taste. The main dishes — a steak and a Thai curry — were decent, with the curry being the highlight of the evening. Overall, for the price point, the restaurant seems to rely more on its prestigious Ritz-Carlton Maui location and clientele than on delivering true international fine-dining excellence.

The Plantation House is a Hawaiian eatery located on the Plantation Golf Course, offering stunning views from the 19th hole and serving elegant island fare. The restaurant is renowned for its panoramic sunset vistas overlooking the lush fairways of the golf course and the neighboring islands of Molokai. Executive Chef Jojo Vasquez has curated menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner that showcase locally sourced and inspired dishes, along with signature menu items.
Probably one of the best burgers I have ever had. Fries were delicious. Excellent espresso martini. Banana bread was so soft and flavorful. Fruit plate was wonderfully presented and all the fruit was perfectly ripe. Wonderful views from everywhere in the restaurant. The price of the food was actually not terrible for the amount and quality of everything that was presented. I was very pleasantly surprised with everything about this restaurant. Highly recommend!!!

We had such a phenomenal experience at Plantation House for our honeymoon. The food, atmosphere and service were top tier. Lauren was such an attentive and pleasant server. She had great recommendations and made sure our night was special. The chef that curated this menu has a gift. Thank you for such an amazing night, one of the best meals we have had. Highly recommend the Lavender Whale (i substituted vodka for the gin it was amazing), scallops with added the lobster tail, my husband had the two fish special, then we both had dessert, creme brulee and cheesecake. Everything was spectacular! Not to mention the beautiful views! If you got to only one restaurant during your stay, go here.

We had a wonderful first experience tonight at The Plantation House. We were seated promptly at our reserved time. The decor is so clean and airy and comfortable. There really isn't a bad seat in the restaurant. Our server was very warm and helpful, and she checked on us often. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. The seafood was all fresh, and the lamb chops were decadently tender and juicy. Parking was valet only.

All of the food that we had was great! All of the servers were very nice and respectful. We had our reservations around 4:30pm and not many people were there when we first arrived but it got very busy as the night went on. This restaurant os a perfect place to watch the sunset and have a dinner. The price of the food is on the higher side but all of the food was fantastic. We would recommend going if you are in the area!

Whilst staying locally the wife and I drove up to watch the sunset with cocktail in hand. We didn't have dinner reservations, but there is a bar area with a restricted view. The actual golf course was closed (water problems), but the restaurant was quite full and the food looked good. The front of house was friendly and helpful, but the barman was a little surly. We would probably dine there if we went back to Maui, but I think the restaurant closes at 8pm so book early and hit the circa 6pm sunset!

What a great place for a very nice dinner. Escargot was rich and yummy. Poke with the avocado wasabi was delicious. I had the duo fish plate with butter fish and a sea bass. That was a nice combo. Fiance had the filet mignon, pretty good cut of beef. Creme Brulee was excellent. Great golf course and ocean views. Hope to play next time.

Great vibe and views to relax and enjoy dinner. Our server (Taylor I believe) was great, very nice and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. Appetizers and main courses both alike. Lasagna was great! Would definitely come back.

We were truly delighted by our experience at Taverna. Excellent food, excellent service, and an excellent atmosphere. We were seated at a table overlooking the picturesque golf course, which made the evening even more special. The service was attentive and friendly throughout. The place itself is warm, well-located, and beautifully designed. While the menu is priced slightly above average, it matches the quality of the culinary experience. Definitely worth it for the overall value. Highly recommended

If you're looking for a great italian-themed restaurant that is not on the beach, this is the spot. It is located right on the golf course. They have a huge patio that opens up with plenty of views. Their Pizza is very traditional with a flat crust and all of the other dishes are amazing. We really enjoyed the Ahi and the steak. Make sure you make reservations, it is a hit or miss as to how busy they will be on any given night. With their clothes location to the Ritz-Carlton I am sure they get a lot of clientele from there. Do you have a great wine selection and a full bar.

Beautiful experience including the service food and atmosphere. We were there visiting with a dear friend & their patience with our party was exquisite! We ordered multiple drinks & apps before dinner which were all delicious and we we well entertained by some delightful children on the golf course. Thank you for the wonderful evening!

We ended up at Taverna during the tsunami last week and I have to give them mad props. They not only stayed open but were extremely accommodating for what had to be 100+ people while we waited it out on high ground. They didn't have the usual staff and it was understandably chaotic, but they offered pizza and lasagna, plus all sorts of great drinks to keep people fed and distracted. The woodfire pizza was tasty! Kids were kept busy on the golf course it boarders. The best of a stressful situation. I'm so thankful for the owner and staff at Taverna! THANK YOU!

Good food. They had a local Hawaiian fish, O'opu, as a special which was good. Friendly staff. Beautiful setting amongst the pines in Maui.

Taverna restaurant. A great Italian restaurant! Today we visited the restaurant and the food was very tasty. The chef had fresh sashimi, outstanding mushrooms ravioli, and the best lasagna in the entire Hawaiian islands. Of course a great bottle of wine. The place has beautiful views of the golf course. Finally the tiramisu was spectacular! We finalized the night with capuchino. The service was simplyAWSOME!! General manager Lance, Alejandro our waiter and assistant Mia made the night a very special one. When we came in we were greeted like family by Manager Ana. These are the people that make a positive difference in other people's lives. Great job! A must visit restaurant if you are in the beautiful island of Maui. Thank you, Juana and Manny C.

Kapalua Golf - The Plantation Course is an 18-hole resort course that provides stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and showcases impressive elevation changes. It is part of the Kapalua Resort, which also offers a range of facilities such as a tri-level swimming pool, fitness center, and spa rooted in Maui traditions.
The Plantation Course at Kapalua is absolutely spectacular and easily one of the most memorable golf experiences I’ve ever had. The views alone are worth the trip — sweeping ocean vistas, lush mountains, and beautifully maintained fairways make every hole a postcard moment. This is the iconic course where the PGA TOUR kicks off each year with the Sentry Tournament of Champions, and you can really feel that championship pedigree as you play. It’s a challenging but fair layout that rewards strategy and precision. One thing to note: if the wind picks up (which it often does in Maui), the course can become significantly tougher. Club selection becomes a true test, and even short holes can demand your full attention. That said, it’s all part of the experience and adds to the fun and authenticity of the round. Highly recommend for any golfer visiting Maui — it’s a must-play.

Gorgeous views from this top tier golf course and facilities. Would have loved to play if time in my travels permitted. At $469 per round, they are extremely proud of it, too! The pro shop is accessible for people to purchase merchandise, and restaurants have some breathtaking Maui Northwest coastline. Staff was friendly and professional.

Kapalua Plantation Course is pricey, but it is worth every penny. The golf experience is awesome. The course was incredibly great condition even though it was really dry. Every single hole is something special except hole 2. The course provides an impressive challenge with amazing golf course design. Holes 5, 6, 7 and 8 are simply stunning. Greens are relatively small and really fast. Overall, it is a top 5 golfing experience.
Clinton S — Google review
The staff were great and getting a tee time was easy. The fairways were a bit dry and the greens were not receptive. The views were stunning and the layout was challenging. The price was high, but now I can say I played there.
Brett F — Google review
Golf Course closed due a water issue apparently caused by The Pineapple growers. PGA tour stop canceled in 2026 due to the water issue. Employees say the course is mending and will soon return to it's past glory.
William D — Google review
While the views were very nice, the golf course conditions were the worst that I have ever played on. Completely dried out fairways and the greens were not much better. The Bay course was the same. Very disappointing for my wife and my bucket list trip to Hawaii. I have played public courses for $50 bucks that are much better condition. We will not return.

Such a beautiful course to play. It was on my bucket list to play and wife said you may not get another chance. I had a great experience. If you can swing the cost it's highly recommended. Greens are large and challenging to read correctly. Staff was friendly very helpful.

Beauty, challenge, and fun. What an amazing course. There are some holes that really make you strategize and others you just go for it. Wonderful staff and facilities. A must play if you are on Maui.

Honolua-Mokuleia Bay Marine Life Conservation District, located north of Kapalua Resort, has been protected by the State of Hawaii since 1978. The late Colin C. Cameron, founder of Kapalua Resorts, played a key role in ensuring the preservation of this unique ocean area. Visitors can enjoy snorkeling and witness an abundance of marine life such as turtles and colorful fish amidst stunning coral formations.
These are some photos from our drive around the island from Kihei. If you ever go Maui the sites you can see are incredible. I will post a video roads…. It’s insane. My phone does not do the Island Justice…. shout out and prayers to the families in Lahaina

A beautiful place, walking down the tropical forest to get the beach. The trees are incredible and the bay is beautiful. Take the time to ask to talk too Misty, she will happily tell you about the story of that place that belongs in her family.

Amazing snorkeling spot. Calm waters, coral reefs, hundreds of little fish, sea turtles, manta/sting rays, colorful larger fish, etc. Park on the side of the road and follow the signs down to the bay. About a 15 minute walk down to the water through a dense forest, dirt path area. Shoreline is very rocky and uneven so water shoes are recommended. The water is a little murky near the shoreline, but if you swim out farther, it gets clearer and more abundant in sea life. I saw about 5 turtles while I was snorkeling. There were quite a few other people on the rocks and snorkeling, but plenty of room in the water. Do not bring or use spray-on sunscreen for two reasons: 1. It damages/kills the coral/marine life and 2. Someone will approach you and tell you to stop. Since Honolua Bay is a part of a Marine Life Conservation District, there are many signs posted saying no fishing, no removal of any marine life/rocks, wear mineral sunscreen, pick up your trash, no spray sunscreen, use the outhouses, etc. Bring water shoes, snorkel gear, eco-friendly sunscreen, and keep Honolua Bay beautiful! It’s a good spot for all levels of snorkel skills because the water is calm, you don’t need a wet suit, and the wildlife is abundant.
Melia — Google review
Just pulled off the road and bumped into this spot. No cost to enter. As you walk down to the water, there's a site on your right that used to be a church and has unmarked graves. Gorgeous trees along the way. Easy trail to walk down. When you get to the water, there's people swimming, fishing, snorkeling, and just hanging out
Thomas G — Google review
Be aware that if you park across from Honolua farms, there's a substantial dip that can damage average clearance cars. Between the red lines in this photo.
Adam C — Google review
The reef is pretty much dead here, at least in not a long swimming distance from the beach. Not many fishes around and quite challenging entrance point on big slippery stones. Plus you need to pass some very creepy household. I think there are way better beaches for snorkeling then here
Da F — Google review
One of the best snorkeling spots we visited during our trip. First time we got to see turtles and there was a cool hike through the forest to the beach. Parking was free. Only downside was the beach is all rocks and it’s a bit tricky to maneuver and get into the water with snorkeling gear.
Brad H — Google review
Didn’t have great visibility today. The entry to the water is super slippery and dangerous I was also trying to get out elsewhere and it’s practically impossible due to slippery rocky terrace. Ended up cutting my wrist on the rock needing stitches. Not for novice and definitely not the loveliest beach and surroundings either.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Nestled a few miles east of the luxurious resorts in Kapalua, Honolua Bay is a hidden gem that captivates both locals and visitors alike. This pristine bay, flanked by dramatic jade cliffs, offers an idyllic escape into nature. Known for its exceptional snorkeling during the summer months and challenging surf breaks in winter (ideal for advanced surfers), Honolua Bay is designated as a Marine Life Conservation District.
No passes, tours, or reservations needed. Stop at the overlook to get a great view and check the conditions. There are no amenities aside from porta-potties in the parking area. We parked roadside and walked through the forest path with lush tropical foliage and roaming chickens. The water is clear and beautiful. Note that the beach is made of large slippery rocks and a dilapidated boat ramp, so it takes some balance and coordination just to get into the water safely. Once you get into the water it is not a difficult swim. The water was calm on the August day we visited. Bring your own snorkel gear and swim to the right of the bay from the beach, until you find the large reefs. We saw an amazing assortment of fish of all colors and sizes, colorful coral, and sea urchins (don't touch or step on them). We met a sea turtle near the reef. Use sun protection. Best snorkeling spot we've found in Maui so far!

Wonderful snorkeling with gorgeous fish, eels, sea turtles, and Spinner dolphins! Great views from several overlooks and highway 30 hugging the western shore of Maui.
Jason R — Google review
Beautiful bay - but mainly only used to snorkel and see the fish! You need to park along the highway (there are some sections to park) and walk down a path. There are two paths that lead you to the same place. It said that it was closed off, but I think it was more meant for vehicles; you can walk past the gate. Also, note that there is no sand - it's all rocks and a little hard to walk on, and the rocks in the water is slimy, so be careful. But, overall, it's a wonderful place to snorkel. There's a lot of fish and no waves. We just went by ourselves (no tour) and snorkeled with regular swimming goggles!
David N — Google review
Rocky beach, but amazing snorkeling place. Clear and calm water, chicken running around in the background. we snorkeled for 2 hours. Saw a lot of colorful fishes, tons of reefs, even an octopus!!
JW — Google review
Wonderful place to snorkel. There is no cost to park or snorkel. A varity of fish are present on the northside. A short walk through a beautiful jungle-like forest is an added bonus. The beach is larger rocks with no sand areas. Be careful when entering and exiting the bay. The rocks, as mentioned in other reviews, are slippery. No lifeguard on duty. Porta-potties are available but not very clean or maintained.
S. S — Google review
Very nice place for snorkelling, but be careful, not easy access to get in the water and strong currents. Nice walk to the beach! Toilets are not great but are available.
Sarah R — Google review
Gorgeous. Come early if you need to park, and it's a really cool walk through the "Enchanted Forest" getting down to the shore. In fact, you'll wonder if you're headed in the right direction after a while, but keep going. I'd hesitate to call it a beach as you're going to be hanging out on stones that would make the beaches of Nice jealous. But you came for the snorkeling, right? Get out there - you won't be disappointed. Say hey to "Uncle Jimmy" (and contribute $$). Also, don't leave any food out or your camp will be attacked by dinosaur descendants.
Michael P — Google review
This is one of the best Snorkel spots on Maui. It's a bit of the main resort areas but worth the drive. Street parking us limited and you'll have to do a short hike though lush tropical vegetation that feels like it is straight out of Jurassic Park. The beach is rocky and the best part of the reef is out about 500 feet and to the right once you are in the water. If you are up to putting in the effort you might be rewarded with hundreds of fish of every variety,, a half dozen turtles, a colorful reel, eel, octopus and the occasional barracuda or shark. Also nice if you just want to go for a short hike!

Hiking Trails
Mahana Ridge Trail is a challenging 6-mile hike that begins near D.T. Fleming Beach Park and ascends approximately 2,000 feet to the Maunalei Arboretum. The trail offers scenic views of the bay and gulches as it winds through native Hawaiian forests filled with Suriname cherries, coffee, and kauri trees. This rugged terrain was once old ranch and pineapple land but has since been revitalized.
We made it on the morning, took about 4 hours to pu’u kukui view point, about 16km in total Easy walk, be sure to get sun screen and 1 liter of water per person to enjoy your journey Great views and signs, you won’t be lost or exhausted
Jean-Sébastien Z — Google review
Not a lot of views, so we didn't enjoy it. Not maintained at all. Started at DT Fleming Park. Entrance is across the road to the left of the preschool. Lots of overgrown grasses, plants and trees on the trail. Would suggest long pants and long sleeve shirt. A lot of sun to start, but mostly shade for how far we went. We turned around after 2 hours due to so many conflicting reviews/websites that say the distance is anywhere from 9.2 -17 miles out and back. We just didn't see enough beauty to keep going. There are some interesting trees, plants and a couple look outs but not enough to trust that it would get better. 2 hours out, 1:40 back. At the reservoir, there's nothing to see as the weeds are so high. Also, very difficult to find the trail again. Just went past the Pine Loop area a bit before turning around. If you like to be by yourself, this might be something enjoyable as we only seen 1 other person.

Magical easy trail to the best snorkeling around the island. The locals are super friendly. The beach is rocks so bring shoes rather than flip-flops.

I love Hawaii for two things: Beach and Hiking. There is no snake in Hawaii, hence we usually alternate between beach day and hiking when visiting Hawaii. This has been a trail of shocks for my family: Hikers be aware, this is a closed loop hiking of 17 miles, don't be misled by the 2.8 miles sign at the entrance by the Fleming Park. There was no warning at trail entrance Fleming Park that the exit at the other end of the trail, the arboretum, is permanently closed. Hence, this is closed loop trail. Blurry signs. Along the trail, the signs are not well maintained. We had to guess at quite a few forks whether to go left, straight, or right. There were detours from some construction work, which makes it harder to stay on track. When we finally made to a sign, guess what, the letters were worn out and hard to read what's ahead, left or right. There were a few times we thought about turning back, to make this one of our first "abandoned hiking" in Hawaii. However, there always appeared to be one blurry sign indicating there something 1.2 miles ahead, "inviting" us to keep going. We started around 11am from the entrance by Fleming Park. By 330pm, we barely made to the other end. Instead of an exit, we arrived at a locked-up iron gate, cloudy sky with looming rain. Tired and disappointed, imagine our desperation realizing there's no exit. At 330pm, there's no way we were going to hike back the route that took us 4.5 hours, heading into the dusk then night! This became the trail of desperation. My husband started sharing news story that once upon a time, some hikers got lost on a Maui hiking trail and it took 5 days for search team to finally locate and rescue the hikers... Would you rather head back and get stuck in the mountain in the dark and wet night, or climb over that locked up iron gate to face whatever prosecution the violation might come with? After hiked many tenuous yet beautiful trails in Kauai, I feel this trail is more like a punishing endurance training. I call the last photo “tree of life” after escaping the trail trap. 😂
Helen R — Google review
This is a good hike overall, but tiring. Reserve at least 6 hours for it, half an hour more if you going to eat in picnic area or otherwise stop for passion fruits or guavas. People who said 4 hours either ran all the time or simply didn't make it till the end. I would appraise this hike as moderate if it wasn't so long, so I mark it as"hard" for most of the people. It totalled 30000 steps, therefore 20 kilometers or around 12.5 miles. Incline is very moderate, steps are rare and 90% of the trail is shady. We took 1.75l of water (almost half gallon) for 2 people and it was enough. Most people should take more. Hat is a must. Trail was very dry (done in October 2023). Trail starts near preschool, so park at the beach. Signs posted all around, many of them bleached. Ferns are very scratchy at the last hour of walking, happily they don't last long.
Victoria B — Google review
Definitely a workout of a trail. Out and back it can be as long as 10 miles but the nice part is that you can go as far as you feel like. I only went about 2.5 miles in and started from the beach near the Ritz. Bring plenty of water as it’s a steady climb upwards. I would also suggest starting early as the sun can be kinda brutal, I decided to leave at 1pm and wish Inhad left earlier. The trail is overgrown in a lot of places, so prepare for torso high vegetation, but keep an eye on the ground and you’ll be fine. I wish I made it to some of the more scenic overlooks but the view wasn’t bad at all. You’ll go under a bridge, across a golf course, and even past a grove of baby palm trees. I usually high in sneakers as I don’t like hiking boots, but here the ankle support would be nice as it’s rocky and easy to roll an ankle if you aren’t paying attention.
Steven V — Google review
Probably one of the nicest trails on the island. Pretty muddy all way long. Overgrown the first 2mi. Then, the fun begins. You cross an old pineapple plantation, a stream, through lovely diverse forests into the arboretum. About 11-12mi return. I needed 4 hours, but I met people who needed significantly longer. Take enough water and food. The sign at the beginning of the trail says 17mi return, but that's actually not correct unless.
Dennis K — Google review
One of my favorite hikes on the island, ending at an arboretum only accessible on foot or if you own property on that land. You have to be comfortable trekking through a little bit of high grass. Incredible diversity of plants, trees, and fruit. Saw wild pineapples, picked a lot of delicious lilikoi/guava, and saw the super random but cool abandoned tractor being overtaken by a tree. Cool banyan tree right before the arboretum as well.

Honokahua Bay Beach, located within DT Fleming, offers a mixed experience depending on the season. Visitors may encounter some washed-up debris on the shore but can still enjoy activities like bodyboarding and observing turtles in the area. The beach is known for its decent waves, making it suitable for those who enjoy bouncing on the ocean floor.
Not a bad beach. This is part of DT Fleming and depending on the time of year, there’s usually some debris washed up on shore. Great spot for body boarding, bouncing on the ocean floor with some decent waves or even watching a turtle or two come through.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this market. It was more of an arts and handcrafted food products with one vegetable and fruit stand. There is something for everyone. Local honey, teas, salsas, jewelry, carved wood items, pottery, shaved ice, and even dog treats and toys. We found it a joy to stop and hear each artisan’s story about their products. Many of the vendors’ items are available online with shipping options. This was especially nice for us based on travel bag weight restrictions. Thank you to all the vendors for a wonderful visit. Love supporting local businesses and appreciate the Aloha spirit. Mahalo!

We went on a Wednesday around 10:30am. We found parking easily, but it was filling up. This was a lovely small farmers market with about 20 vendors. There was live music (gentle island vibes). There was a photographer named Jake who sold beautiful photos. We purchased a photo that we can display at home. There was a van at the entrance that sold banana bread (with no preservatives), and we enjoyed the coconut macadamia nut banana bread. This was a 20-minute stop that is perfect as a stop on the way to somewhere else.

The best restaurant we had in Maui I usually very skeptical of “in-hotel” restaurants, I used to have a feeling that this is just another way to milk more money from guests, but boy was I wrong. We went to several “highly recommended” restaurants in Maui (see my other reviews), but the Banyan Tree just takes the crown. The service is excellent, the food is fantastic, and the atmosphere... We had a blast. My wife took the lamb shank which was perfect and tender, and I had the Hawaiian snapper. Both were great even though the lamb felt like it’s a better bang for your buck. The desserts are a must! Made me so hungry just to type all this. Definitely worth your time and money.

Nice view of the bay and ocean. Get there before it gets dark. Good breeze coming into the restaurant from the vents below the windows. Menu was somewhat limited and as might be expected for the Ritz, quite over-priced... $16 drinks are pushing the ridiculous pricing. Service was great, presentation was good but not reflective of the price. The meal was very good but again, nothing spectacular as you'd expect from the Ritz and at these prices.

Cafe
Kai Cafe is a charming coffee and snack spot located in the lobby of the Ritz Carlton Kapalua. What sets it apart is its fantastic seating areas with breathtaking views of the resort and surrounding areas. It's an ideal stop for hikers on the Kapalua Coastal Trail, offering to-go sandwiches, salads, baked goods, and various drinks. The cafe also offers a morning smoothie and coffee selection with hospitable staff willing to accommodate customizations if requested in advance.
Location is obviously phenomenal. Staff make it special. Like each one, it’s silly how nice they are. Latte was always tasty. Pastries yummy. Started my mornings here while staying at the hotel and it was always excellent.

I enjoyed visiting here for a morning smoothie and coffee. Quite a bit of selection. The staff were very hospitable and seemed like great people, genuinely happy to serve you. They were kind enough to modify my smoothies, but had to give my customizations prior to 1pm the day before. Required a bit of forethought, but wasn't an issue once you got accustomed to it. The gelato was yummy as was the avocado toast. And of course, you can't get a much better view than off the balcony. (Take me back!) I took a star off because it was over-priced and smaller portioned, due to being in the Ritz-Carlton.

The view is great! The coffee is decent and they have alternative milk options. The açaí bowl was huge and could easily been shared. The egg sandwich my husband had was wonderful.

Closing at 3 p.m. feels like a missed opportunity. It really limits the chance to enjoy an evening coffee in such a beautiful setting. If it stayed open later, it could easily become a go-to spot for ice cream on a hot summer day or for pastries and desserts in the evening. Unfortunately, the early closure cuts off those options right when I’d be most interested in relaxing with something sweet or a cup of coffee.

Food is very good and very local. The ritz has really gone out of their way to include locals businesses. From hiring local florists to produce amazing flowers and plants daily, to providing local authentic Maui products and food. This coffee shop being one. The products are all made locally. Including the egg sandwiches. I normally hate premade breakfast sandwiches. But this one is legit.

I had the vegan kale salad and it was alright. The locally made Kombucha is AMAZING and I’d recommend it to everyone! The smoothies are a little pricy but I’d say worth it.

I wish I took a photo of my bloody Mary and breakfast sandwich. They are both excellent. The breakfast sandwich had a lot of thick cut bacon and fluffy scrambled eggs on brioche buns. The bloody Mary was excellent to put it simply. It also has a great view over the pools and on to the water.

Had lunch here and the food was incredible. I never thought there was such a thing as gourmet French fries, but there are, lol

Nestled within the Montage Kapalua Bay, Cane & Canoe offers a sophisticated dining experience with a modern Hawaiian twist. The restaurant's farm-to-table approach showcases fresh, locally sourced ingredients in its breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. With a stunning lanai overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the islands of Lanai and Molokai, guests can savor high-end cuisine while enjoying breathtaking views.
Food was perfect! Starting with the sweet corn agnolotti with lobster, followed by fish of the moment (mahi mahi) and 48-hour wagyu short rib. We asked if we could order one glass of wine per course and split it for a paired tasting - “yes of course”! And it was our anniversary so they finished up with an amazing chocolate mousse cake with raspberry puree. Views were beautiful and romantic. Run don’t walk.

View and setting was amazing. Service was spotty. Asked for water a few times before getting it. Food was good. Tempura snapper was incredible. I would not get the baked Hawaiian next time. Unlike baked Alaska, the different components of the dessert don't really go well together.

Honestly, we were very surprised by how reasonable this restaurant was for breakfast. We tried to get into another local business but couldn't find parking. Cane and Canoe was right down the road and had plenty of room, complimentary valet parking, and a gorgeous view. It is tricky to find because it's inside the Montage Kapalua Bay resort on their lower level. You'll see signs for "reservations required" but that only applies to dinner service. We were seated right away without delay when we visited for breakfast and only a few tables were occupied when we arrived. It did slowly fill up though as we enjoyed our stay. The food was delicious. You won't be disappointed. Our server was nice enough but at one point all of the staff disappeared for quite a while and it was noticeable. It felt strange for a few moment but when they returned everything was back to normal. Overall a wonderful experience.

Great upscale restaurant in the Montage. Amazing dinner seat views of the ocean and back of the resort. Worth visiting for dinner if you are not staying on site. Great coastline walk from the Kapalua resorts

Gorgeous resteraunt that has indoor and outdoor at the same time. Fantastic service. The scallop on marscapone corn puree was pure bliss. The sweet corn lobster agnoletti was delectable. The filet mignon might have been the best I've had. The crust was amazing and cooked perfect. 48 hour wagyu short rib was packed with flavor and tender. Cocktails on point and the nice birthday dessert was rich and decadent. Worth the trip. Going back for sure.

Had an amazing breakfast here. We have eaten all over the world and this was hands down the best egg free waffle I’ve ever eaten. It was flaky crispy and tasty, not the dense dry waffle normally get when vegan. Literally the best ever. Chef Men is amazing. Our avacado toast was equally amazing, modified for our special diet. Thanks Chef and staff for a great breakfast. Btw, the fruit plate is amazing.

This restaurant turned out to be the culinary highlight of our anniversary trip to Maui. The service, food, and atmosphere were all at the highest level of fine-dining excellence. We were greeted warmly at the reception and, once seated, received outstanding service. The welcome taro bread bites with olive oil, butter, and honey set a perfect tone. Our starters — Ahi poke and octopus — were cooked to perfection, tender and bursting with flavor. For the mains, we had the chicken and the catch of the day — snapper. Both dishes impressed us with their complex textures and beautifully layered flavors, exceeding our expectations. Dessert was a delightful finish: coconut and pineapple creations that were simply amazing. It was pricey, but absolutely worth every dollar.

Simply wow! 1. Our waiter was amazing and genuinely engaged in conversation. His recommendations were spot on. 2. The Cesar Salad was in the top 3 best my wife & I have ever had. 3. Our main course meals were devine; fresh fish of the day and wagu short ribs.

It's truly an amazing and beautiful place where one can experience peacefulness while gazing out at the water.
Stunning view here. My brain just can't grasp the beauty of it All! The Ocean, Lava rocks, sounds of wind through the palms and peacefulness one feels staring into the ocean. So much water.

Had the absolute best day at Spa Montage. My massage with Bo was truly one of the best massages I’ve had in my life. I had my massage in an outdoor Hale and it was incredibly peaceful and I loved the fresh open air. The full experience from checking in, the kindest staff to show you around, and the pool, saunas, and hydration area were all just magical. I highly recommend coming here over any other spas on the island! Plan to spend a good amount of time before and after your treatment here too, makes it a whole experience. Thank you Bo and everyone, can’t wait to come back!

EXACTLY what I hoped for and experienced! It was the highlight of my trip! Great access to the nice gym, clean lockers, and friendly staff! They were fully stocked with towels, water, sunscreen, sandals, and snacks. Loved the peaceful pool area, steam room, sauna, and the Hawaiian style massage was even more special with the outdoor experience. Definitely less busier in the morning, but overall very relaxing, and I would 100% come back the time I’m in Maui.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DAY! Our day at the spa was a definite highlight of our Maui honeymoon. Book this spa!! The facility was so clean, the staff was so incredibly kind and helpful, the views are stunning and the actual massage was fantastic! I already want to of back! P.S. This place is wheelchair accessible!

Great massage but even better amenities. The women's locker room was equipped with everything you would think to need, hydrotherapy, sauna, steam room and serene pool space to relax afterwards. Alittle pricey, but that is what you pay for in Maui. I would recommend!

I had my first spa experience here at Montage. My massage was absolutely amazing, Millena was my person and she was so awesome! She had great energy, deep tissue, she read my body so well. The ambiance was relaxing, the lounge area was clean and was just an all around lovely experience. I also had a pedi, was so relaxing, the chairs were so comfy with leg clutches, views were beautiful And quiet.

Womens and men's areas are separate, ( clothing optional sauna and hydrotherapy area, locker room, showers, bathrooms) the pool and hot tub area are co-ed and are bathsuit/ clothing required. Robes and slippers provided are comfortable and luxurious. Prior to service you make your way upstairs to separate lounges that are stocked with tea, infused water, trail mix, fresh fruit and a sweet bread. There's a patio off the lounge if you prefer to take in a breathtaking view. Gift shop downstairs near check out is amazing and full of locally crafted products ( my favorite is the Ola sugar polish in rainforest). There are a few options for food that's a short walk away in the Montage resort and none will disappoint! Five star experience start to finish at Spa Montage!
Taylor L — Google review
My massage was mediocre, but the setting was beautiful. My friend was pleased with her massage and said her masseuse was better than at the spa we went to a couple of days before. The locker rooms need some updating. Both my friend and I had lockers that were broken. The staff struggled to get mine unlocked when I came back from the hydrogarden to prepare for my massage. Not a great start to the massage. We chose the hale massage. It was kind of cool to hear the birds chirping, but it’s still pretty closed off. You are only kind of outside. I’m not sure whether or not I will go back on my next trip to Maui.

Literally had the best massage OF MY LIFE here 🙌 April was incredible & talented. Plus, the amenities are lovely - sweet infinity pool, hot tubs, sauna and steam room. Loved it!

Pickleball court
Located near the Kapalua Resort, the Kapalua Tennis Garden offers a variety of activities for visitors. In addition to tennis courts, there are also pickleball courts available. Guests can drop in during specific times or call ahead to reserve a court. The customer service is highly praised, with organized tennis and pickleball sessions and the option to purchase a 5-day pass. The staff members are commended for their exceptional service and energy.
Pickleball open play Tuesday & Saturday morning 9-11am. $20. Dani is the one who leads it and is good at organizing good competitive matches. The people are really friendly also!
YoCherng L — Google review
Played pickleball here on vacation. There are 8 courts on the west side that have been converted (surfaced/ repainted) from older tennis courts. As of this writing, Google maps satellite images still shows them as tennis courts, which is an outdated image. Kind of expensive at $25 for the day but you can also buy a pass good for the week and play as much as you like. Really friendly people and well organized for the open play on Sat/Tues 9-11am sessions. Mostly locals who are club members but a fair share of visitors too. It gets crowded on Saturday but with 8 courts and 4 on/off, you don’t have to wait very long to play. Thanks for the games!
Noah M — Google review
Hello heavenly pickleball!!! What a setting! I just showed up with my paddle and 15 minutes later I made these new friends. Life doesn’t get any better than this.
Helen H — Google review
The courts are in a little disrepair, though the relatively high winds in Kapalua, take your mind off it. We have had great fun, playing there. Currently Tuesdays and Saturdays. They have a organizer, who sends people out onto the court, so you get rotated in among the regulars but even on the other days, we have gone and found it easy to find people to play with everyone’s quite friendly
Christopher J — Google review
Beautiful setting for tennis with a helpful pro shop staff, well-organized drop-in doubles, tennis clinics and private instruction. Weekly membership is offered along with rental rackets and rental shoes. Very friendly atmosphere where staff remember your name. I would return again and again just to have lessons with Lisa. She is an outstanding instructor for all level players.
Patricia M — Google review
Customer service was top notch. We enjoyed the organized tennis and pickleball. We were able to purchase a 5 day pass and played in the Friday and Sunday mixed doubles pickup. Tracy was the organizer and she was phenomenal at putting players together that were similar skill level. They provide a new can of balls for play. The upper courts are mostly in good shape—we didn’t play the lower courts. We will definitely come back to play again. The front desk man was exceptional also...very friendly and remembered our names! We really felt welcome.

Best clinics I've taken. Been vacationing at Kapalua for over 35 years and I'm so happy to see the improvements to the program. Jason, Nick and Debbi are running an awesome program. If you want to hit a ton of balls while getting exercise and instruction- this is the place for you. Schedule of classes on line which is so much better for planning purposes. Courts are in great shape. Towels and ice water offered as well.
Deborah H — Google review
While the facility isnt world-class (yet) the staff definitely is. Between Jason, Nick and Debbi these guys are the best. Always accommodating and going the extra mile. Their clinics and instruction is ALWAYS on point, direct and insightful. Don't know how they keep up the great energy and enthusiam, but you'll see it each and everyday. Really can't say enough good things the Kapalua tennis gardens under Jason's direction.
