Very nice museum and store. People were very informative. Nice walk up to volcano with areas of interest marked on walkway numbers and paper guide. Then walked scenic route to ice cave. High eighties at volcano and very cool at ice cave. They are also dog friendly.

Visited on 9.17.2025. I walk through the Lava Flow to the cave is amazing. The fun begins Once you get to the cave. About halfway down the steps you can feel the temperature dropping from hot to cold, and once you are in the cave area, it is freezing inside. The views of the Ice and ice flows along the cave walls are amazing. It's fascinating that birds actually live in the cave walls. Highly Recommend.
Rick W — Google review
Beautiful hike through the lava field lots of marked stops with numbers to read about on the guide. This is a self guided tour. Good shoes recommended. Bring a bottle of water and if you are prone to getting hot save the ice cave for last its 31° F all year. The Cinder cone of the Volcano is a good first stop then follow the loop down to the ice cave.

I visited this spot per the recommendation of my Uber driver from the airport. I had never heard of an ice cave before so I was definitely intrigued. Arriving at this location, I was greeted by an older gentleman who gave me a quick overview of the location and some history. I was also greeted by a darling Aussie named Rosie. I first hiked to the caldera, and I will say I was pretty underwhelmed. I was surprised to learn that New Mexico's geography was deeply shaped by volcanic activity long ago, but once it became very apparent that this was the case looking at the rocks. Along the path, you can find three different types of lava rocks. I then took the short hike to the ice cave and THIS is what made this trip worth it. What a unique feature and an experience climbing down into the cave. You go from scorching 90 degrees heat to a sudden drop in temperature as you descend into the cave. I was surprised to even see icicles! What a cool geologic feature and something I would suggest others seeing if they come to the area. The trading post was quaint, featuring a small museum of old pottery from indigenous people and had a selection of a multitude of trinkets.
Daniella F — Google review
Beautiful scenery, accessible and easier hiking for great views. Geological phenomenon with ice cave. Overall took about 1-1.5 hours to explore gift shop and complete the hike to the volcano and scenic trail to ice cave. Ready to get to from Albuquerque NM
Megan S — Google review
I LOVED this!! I see the signs on the interstate but always have a horse trailer. Today I was in a car, yay! Cool little spot, awesome that it's privately owned, self guided with an info pamphlet; little gift store, super nice people; very interesting little spot!
Nicole B — Google review
The volcano was very interesting. A short, easy hike on a loop that includes the ice cave. The ice cave (really part of a collapsed lava tube) was fascinating, but a little disappointing that we could only look inside from a viewing platform. Well with a stop.
Richard P — Google review
This was a cool experience not too far off the highway. It was a great break to stretch our legs during our drive from Arizona to Texas. I believe they had activities for kids but we didn’t have kids with us so I can’t say for sure. Definitely worth the stop.

11/10 no notes! Thanks Ranger Stephen for the chat! The land definitely has a lot to offer!

El Malpais National Monument is an awe-inspiring destination that blends rugged volcanic landscapes with serene desert beauty. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the vastness and variety of the terrain—lava flows, sandstone bluffs, cinder cones, and the stunning La Ventana Arch all made for an unforgettable experience. We started our visit at the Sandstone Bluffs, which offered panoramic views that were absolutely breathtaking. The short hike to La Ventana Arch was easy and rewarding, and the arch itself is a natural wonder. We also explored the Lava Falls area, which felt like walking on another planet—challenging but totally worth it if you're up for a bit of scrambling. The visitor center (when open) is informative and welcoming, with friendly rangers who are passionate about the park’s geology and history. Even when it was temporarily closed, we found plenty of signage and online resources to guide us. This park is perfect for those who love geology, solitude, and off-the-beaten-path adventures. Just be sure to bring plenty of water, sturdy shoes, and a sense of wonder. We’re already planning a return trip to explore the lava tubes and hike more of the trails! A stunning landscape by land and from the air.
Dustin S — Google review
This monument was awesome. We are driving through NM and saw a sign for this place. We decided to take a quick pit stop and it was totally worth it. It only takes just a few minutes of great paved road to see true beauty. 10/10 worth it.
Jiselle B — Google review
Great place to visit. Lava rocks. Bring water and a snack, as it's a remote location. There aren't too many trails, but a few excellent look-out points. Sunset and/or sunrise are highly recommended.
Alex K — Google review
We visited El Malpais National Monument in July last year, and it ended up being one of the most unexpectedly rewarding stops of our trip. One of the biggest highlights for us was the campground, which turned out to be a hidden gem. It’s rustic and minimalistic in the best way, no frills, just pure, quiet solitude. We barely saw anyone else during our stay, and that seclusion made it feel like we had the entire place to ourselves. If you’re looking for a place to truly disconnect and get away from the crowds, this is it. Don’t skip the Sandstone Bluffs overlook or La Ventana Natural Arch, both are stunning. We explored a few short trails and scenic overlooks, and even in the summer heat, the dramatic landscape kept us captivated. If you’re into geology, photography, or just crave quiet places that still feel wild and untouched, El Malpais will absolutely deliver. This place is seriously underrated. We almost skipped it, and now it’s one of the spots we talk about the most from that trip.
Vy Z — Google review
Great place to do some fun scrambling, amazing views and great natural landmarks! Take plenty of water cause it gets hot!
Ali A — Google review
Such a peaceful place to visit, which seems impossible for land that has so much going on. Lava flows, sandstone bluffs, natural arch, beautiful rock formations, desert, prairies, cattle, elk, wild horses, chipmunks, prairies dogs... Stay long enough to hike and actually enjoy it.
Cynthia H — Google review
A very beautiful drive up to the park. You start to see the lava flows for the volcano after you enter Pueblo Acoma prior to getting to the park. The Visitor Center is located at the top edge of the park with one small viewing trail. The other trails for the volcano are located 20-30 minutes away. You literally have to drive back up to Exit 89 to see the main part of the park. Not sure why they set it up like this. Also be aware some areas of the park requires you to have a 4x4 vehicle. Park is located approximately 60 minutes away from Albuquerque and 200 miles from Flagstaff. I-40 that carries you to the park parallels Route 66, so you’ll see some pretty cool stuff on the way up.

Grants KOA Journey is a delightful retreat for travelers seeking a peaceful stopover after a long day on the road. Nestled conveniently off the interstate, this campground offers spacious pull-thru RV sites that make parking hassle-free. Guests rave about the serene atmosphere, as it's far enough from highway noise to ensure restful nights. The park features lovely trails at the back, perfect for those looking to stretch their legs and enjoy nature.
Easy access off highway. Long hard packed gravel lots with plenty of room for larger RVs with vehicle in tow. Very clean private bathrooms/ 2 with showers-one perfectly set up for handicapped access. Nice play areas for the kids. The entire staff was so helpful and friendly. They have a very nice store with beautiful souvenirs. In the morning you can enjoy a free make your own pancake machine, cereal, and coffee. A bit pricey for 3 adults and 3 children at $89 a night. But, that wouldn't stop me from staying at this location again.

Had a great stay at Grants KOA campsite. Very friendly owners & staff and it was so nice to have the option of ordering a hot meal from their kitchen. We were too tired to go get dinner, so the owner brought our orders on his golf cart to our campsite. Bathrooms/showers were CLEAN & upgraded, and the cabins on site looked inviting too. Overall great experience. Thank you were upgraded
Barbara W — Google review
This KOA was located just perfectly for our planned vacation. The staff was wonderful. They had the option of ordering a dinner delivered to your camper! What a nice treat after driving all day. The Brisket and Ribs were delicious!!! To top it off, a complimentary Pancake Breakfast! We will definitely be back!
Bernie R — Google review
This is one of my favorite KOAs, the bathrooms are so clean and nice. You have a private bathroom and shower stall with places to put your things inside and outside of the shower. Water pressure and temperature were great. Front desk check in was so friendly and inviting. There are multiple dog areas and even a little walking path on the property. Free all you can eat pancakes in the morning - and they were actually really good! They had an automatic pancake maker and you just pressed a button to get a pancake. Definitely recommend!
Cheryl F — Google review
We stopped here for the night and were not disappointed. The people are friendly and welcoming, the facilities are clean, and they have bathrooms, showers, and a laundry room. They have a dinner menu you can order from for homecooked evening meals delivered right to your RV, including desserts (which were delicious!). There is also a store which has just about anything you may have forgotten for you or your RV, and a large selection of gift items. We would definitely stay here again if we are in this area in the future.

We arrived quite late — around 8 PM — but the staff waited for us with a smile and made us feel immediately welcome. Everyone was incredibly kind and helpful from the very first moment! The next morning, we were treated to an amazing breakfast with fresh pancakes and coffee, all included in the price — such a lovely surprise! The bathrooms were spotless, and the showers worked perfectly, clean and hot. We also loved the great idea of having dinner served directly to our camper — super convenient after a long travel day. What can I say… KOA is always a safe bet, but this one truly deserves 10 stars!

Possibly one of the best Journeys I've ever stayed at. The pad utilities were well placed where you didn't have to string out your water, electric and sewer for a mile. The pad was level and well maintained. The whole park showed 'care'. This is what a KOA Journey should be. Easy in, easy out...perfect.
Denis C — Google review
Great hospitality. We upgraded to a patio site, otherwise very close sites. The pancake breakfast was a bonus! And the food delivery was perfect. We tried their desserts, my favorite was the carrot cake! Nice size laundry facility and fun gift shoo either way lots of goodies.

Blue Spruce RV Park Route 66

RV park
Campground
Blue Spruce RV Park Route 66 offers an affordable stay for travelers, especially if you mention the billboards along the highway, bringing your rate down to just $18. This park is conveniently located near a casino and features level sites with full hookups, including sewer connections. While it may not be the most picturesque spot, its reasonable pricing and reliable utilities make it a solid choice for those passing through. The Wi-Fi is fairly fast, and the friendly atmosphere adds to its charm.
This was a great spot for a night on my way home. The site was open, clean and easy to hook up to water and electric. Of no fault of the owners, this is on a very busy train line. Ear plugs were a must for me.
Lea B — Google review
Our surge protector detected voltages of 160-165 Volts, which is high enough to fry electronics and start fires. When we contacted the campground manager they didn’t seem surprised and didn’t take any steps to fix the problem. Instead of coming to check the power, they casually mentioned it might be our meter. We ended up staying the night for half price without any utilities. Don’t recommend.
Laura V — Google review
Was very disappointed when we arrived, RV park looks nothing like pictures on the website. There is no outside lighting for safety or to see how to hook up. We had to drive around to find our site because they had no check in instructions or map. Bathroom/shower room was dark and dirty. It was super noise from traffic on both sides and a train of course every other hour. This place definitely needs alot of TLC and a website update so travelers know what they are signing up for.
Bobbie K — Google review
It has full hookups yes. However, it is on a tiny strip of land, barely off I40, so highway noise is constant. Add trains every 1/2 hour all night long. We ended up there during a rodeo, so also had loud, muffler-less cars and trucks racing past. Did not feel safe at all. Left ASAP with 2 nughts payment on their table.
Mary G — Google review
This is not a good place. As one reviewer said, you get what you pay for. Absolutely NO ONE was ever in the office, nor did they EVER answer the phone! Not sure how they stay in business! Noisy with traffic or trains. They lied about the distance to Albuquerque, saying it was only 40 miles, when actually it was 86. Couldn’t get into the bathroom, it needed a code, but again, no one was around to ask! None or spotty WiFi…just not a good place to stay.
Diane S — Google review
Great overnight spot. Easy to pull in and out. Even while they are under reconstruction. I did not use any facilities. God bless.
Larry E — Google review
Very basic, very noisy (road & train). Basically a gravel patch with electric and water connections. The bathroom (singular) was clean. But with only one washroom that also has a shower in it. The wait times can get longer. The person at reception when I checked in had no personality at all. I would only recommend this campground as a last resort.
Ski N — Google review
Stayed here for the last 10 yrs on way to AZ. At $22/night it was a bargain and much better kept than now. Renovating? Don't believe it. They can't even cut the waist high weeds. And the worst insult was the price...$49! Never again!!!

What a beautiful park and the arch was stunning! We didn’t even know about this location until we needed to find a place to pull over for the night lo and behold a beautiful national park was on our way. This is a gorgeous place for sure. The hike was ultra easy and the view very nice!
Aleksandr V — Google review
Clean, covered picnic areas and vault restrooms. The arch is visible from the parking area. Path is .5 mile, relatively flat, and graveled. The arch is beautiful! Worth taking a scenic off the highway to see it. The visitors center has limited days it is open so check online 1st.
Danyelle W — Google review
Beautiful natural arch that you need to see in many different lighting and weather conditions to properly appreciate. The parking is ample and the viewing trail is short and easy. Would have given 5 stars but the bathrooms are pretty nasty even for pit toilets as it doesn't seem like they are ever cleaned or maintained other than occasionally restocking the toilet paper. These being the only public restrooms between Quemado and the gas station at I-40, they get considerable use and are often pretty disgusting, especially since they are used by folks who don't understand pit toilets and don't do the proper procedures to keep the smell down (1. ALWAYS CLOSE THE LID 2. Keep the door closed.)
MIriam N — Google review
Easy gravel trail with occasional shade. No place to sit if you need that. Impressive arch and monumental rock formations. We took our dogs, please take bags and clean up after your pet, too many piles of dog poop along the path left by irresponsible pet owners.
Michelle W — Google review
Love the views here! I wish we could hike up under the arch, like we used to many years ago. But they have a guard rail, and they don't want foot traffic past it. But still it's a great little walk back to the arch from the parking area. Beautiful place!
Tim C — Google review
2nd time visiting this amazing place. Great climb and we'll worth the effort.
Mark V — Google review
Easy walk to the base of the arch, although it is still pretty far away. You can't get right up to it.
Heather M — Google review
This place is awesome, it’s just a short walk and you’re allowed to bring your dog. This is a truly remarkable place, a giant arch made from natural stone towers taller than some of the biggest trees. There is a large parking lot where you can rest from driving and a small hike to see the arch, make sure you make time to check it out!

Lavaland RV Park

RV park
Lavaland RV Park offers a convenient and contactless check-in process, with most interactions being conducted online. The facilities include well-maintained restrooms and showers, although some doors may have issues with closing or locking properly. The park accommodates both long-term residents and overnight travelers, maintaining a clean and safe environment without the presence of homeless individuals. Additionally, the park provides amenities such as laundry facilities, mail and package delivery for monthly stays, and proximity to shopping centers like Walmart.
Sites were nice, bathrooms/showers were very clean. They were very helpful when we checked in and overall really enjoyed our stay. They even had two small dog runs so our pups got to play a bit.
Stef J — Google review
Okay, I knew it was easy access from I-40, so I can’t really fault the park for that, but the trucks are loud. I’d much rather hear the train in the distance all night than the trucks. The bathrooms are acceptable, but please fix the locks on the stalls. Sites are very narrow, but the concrete pads are new and are they level! There seems to be a good deal of workers staying here, which kind of makes it a little sketchy (just a feeling, nothing happened but single women might want to know this). The dog run is tiny, in the back corner and pretty useless. It also appears that many persons believe that if their dog uses the edge of the camp road near the expressway that they don’t have to clean it up. Nasty folk do that-pick up after your dogs, people! Would I stay here again? I don’t know, with at least 5-6 other RV parks within 25 miles, I might try somewhere else. In regards to the Good Sam discount, we booked on line and it was honored. Also, we did get the discount off the advertised price.
Elizabeth T — Google review
Adequate. Met our needs for a one night stay. Do not get a concrete pad site. They are new but have a several inch drop off on the sides. Only dirt on the sides with no grass and no gravel. With some improvement and maintenance could be a 4 star place.
Tracy K — Google review
Nice campground, spaces are long drive through spots and very level. Right off I40, so easy stop for overnight stay. Friendly staff, and clean facilities. A little road noise from interstate, but to be expected due to location. There's a nice local brewery at the entrance with several well made options!
Debi S — Google review
This is a very nice RV park. We found the customer service very friendly and accommodating. There are tons of tall pine trees providing shade and ambience and the park is well-lit. Our pull-through RV pad was perfectly level, and all the hook-ups were well-located and in great condition. We were provided with the code to the bathrooms and laundry room in our confirmation email, as well as the Wi-Fi password. The wi-fi connection was strong, as was the water pressure. We never had to even visit the office during check-in or check-out. Everything was easy and good. The only reasons I am giving a 4-star review instead of a 5-star review are these, relating to our specific site (site #28) for which we feel the park should address: 1) The huge Lava Land RV Park sign, which had apparently fallen or been blown off in a past storm, was lying on the ground about 15 feet from our trailer door. We enjoy sitting outside in the evening in lawn chairs, and this was a pretty big eyesore. 2) Our site was the first one on the right as you entered the park. We discovered that one of the roads for anyone to use to exit the park was the gravel road between our front door and the fallen sign. It is a pretty narrow road and a little difficult to distinguish (in the evening) between the gravel of our site and the gravel of the road. So, when a car came around the corner and drove right in front of us while we were sitting in our lawn chairs (and our dog was playing right in front of us), we were a little alarmed and slightly shaken by how close their car was to us (and how dangerous it could have been had they been going any faster). There are a couple of other things to consider when booking at Lava Land that are beyond the park's ability to control: 1) The park is located just off the freeway, and you do hear the freeway pretty loudly and clearly. Granted, we were on the row closest to the freeway. Not a concern if you have your AC and TV on, or like the white noise of the freeway. 2) Our site also happened to be located just underneath a brightly lit highway billboard. It got a little in the way of looking at the stars and the sunset. Again, this is out of the park's control, and if you book a site in the back row, this would not be an issue. We would stay here again, for sure. We will just choose a different site # next time.
Lenicia G — Google review
Just OK. Park could use some TLC - rock for a sewer pipe cover, puddle of water, nonfunctional urinal in mens room, a few junky full-timer spots. Lots of quiet full-timers, people were friendly. Lots of light and freeway noise but to be expected for its convenient location. I slept well with curtains closed. OK for a convenient want-a-beer-after-a-long-day-of driving overnight. Elkins brewery was a plus.
Chris M — Google review
We made a reservation and paid in full a month before arrival. Unfortunately we did not fit in any site. We were happy that the park gave us a full refund. We wish we could of spent the one night as the park looked pleasant with many trees.
Divine T — Google review
Spaces were nice and long. Not too wide, but we have a slide on each side. We paid $5 extra for a cement pad because we were too tired to do all the leveling. We called at 4 to make a reservation. The lady said no one would be at the park, and she was from another park helping out, which was kind of weird. She said to just sign in at the computer provided outside of the office. Nice shade trees. Each site had a table. Full hookups with 30/50watt service. Price was 41, but after all the fees, came out to $54. That's a really high price, but like I said, we were tired so we paid it. It was close to the freeway, but barely heard it. Probably won't be back because of the price.

The Route 66 Drive-Thru Neon Sign Museum in Grants, New Mexico, is an absolute gem for anyone captivated by the nostalgia of this iconic highway. With over 60 vibrant neon signs on display, the museum offers a fresh experience with regularly changing exhibits that keep visitors coming back for more. Conveniently located just off the highway, it’s easy to stop and snap some memorable photos—especially at night when the signs are beautifully illuminated.
This sign is just so cool. I couldn't drive thru being that my RV was a bit taller than 9' it but did back up to it to get the effect for a photo op.

The sign was blocked but we managed to back in to get a picture. We ate at one of the benches (they are falling apart so be careful). There's a train and two people on it just stared at us the entire time we were there. We really wanted to check out the train but they stayed on it the whole time. I only recommend getting the picture and going.

The cleanliness of the establishment is commendable, and the service provided by the staff was efficient. In under 15 minutes, they received their pizza promptly. Additionally, the restaurant offers a peaceful atmosphere for customers to enjoy their meal.

A driver parked in front of my house, I didn’t order pizza so I was looking out to see what he was doing, I observed him picking toppings off a pizza eating them before he drove off to deliver it. I went to dominos to report it, guy came back, picked up another order and off he went. Management didn’t bat an eye as if it was normal to do that.

Today’s food presentation!! Yes. Real food made by our wonderful cooks. Everything was perfect today. Pancakes were fluffy and hot. The fruit was sweet and plenty!! Bacon was hot and crispy just like I like it. Moons over The greatest sandwich in the world. lol. Ok. Great onion rings for sure!!! The cinnamon roll pancakes are absolutely wonderful.

First the food was EXCELLENT! The service was HORRIBLE! ot was not busy hardly anyone there.. trying to get our waitress attention was like pulling teeth! The bathrooms were gross.

Lisa greeted us with a warm smile seating us, brought us coffee and took our order right away. What drew our attention was that she was the only waitress and what was amazing, she greeded the other guests coming in the same way, she multitasked taking care of ALL the guests with that same smile, she's a keeper.... The breakfast was very good and filling, the pancakes were fluffy and tender excellent.... P.S. we left to Arizona and i realized that i had left my cell phone at the restaurant, when i returned. Liza had put it away and returned it to me, such honesty is priceless, keep her...

First, I want to mention that the restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere is pleasant. I opted for a burger and the experience was excellent. The meat was cooked to perfection but still juicy, and the cheese melted like a waterfall, not to mention the seasoned fries with ranch will delight you’re day.

Ordered a grand slam breakfast. Food was terrible, Pancakes were absolutely disgusting and the size of silver dollars. Horrible price too. Close to 20 bucks for breakfast and a tea. The only good thing I can say is the waitress was very good

Had dinner there over the weekend. Food was good but the server Nathaniel provided excellent service, we did not have to request for refills he just brought them out, he ensured we were taken care of. It's people with great service such as his that make a restaurant great. If you happen to Dine at Denny's request for his section he will take care of you! 🙂

You never have high expectations from Dennys but we had no choice. We hadn't eaten all day and didnt want fast food. We ordered nachos to start. It arrived as a big glob of soggy mess. The few pieces of chips that weren't soggy had an unpleasant taste. I think it was supposed to contain beef but if it was there it was well hidden. The fried chicken with gravy was burnt and hidden by the gravy. The burger was edible and the fries were actually pretty good although way too salty. One of the employees had her children or siblings or some type or aquaintance sitting at the table next to us so we had the privilege of listening to thier youtube videos throughout the first three quarters of our meal while the employee filled them with sugary soft drinks. We didnt plan on going to Denny's that night and we have no plans to ever go again, but for some reason we seem to end up there while traveling.

Fast food restaurant
McDonald's, a well-established fast-food chain famous for its burgers and fries, is highly recommended for individuals concerned about food quality and cleanliness. Even as passersby who only ordered a cone and sundae, we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the portions and the overall cleanliness of the establishment. The restaurant exuded an inviting atmosphere with competent service that went above expectations. It provided all that one would anticipate from McDonald's but with a higher level of service and improved ambiance.
My family and I were having a bad experience and the girl who brought us oure food fixed everything with a smile and apologized for the rude co workers she also had the coolest jellyfish tattos I'd seen and even referred me to a good tatto artist in town I love that lady thank you for satisfying my grumpy hungry kids and even spoke to them like adults insted of my brat kids total turn around from the rude window girl

It took 16-minutes to get our food after ordering at the counter inside. Others came and went with their food while we waited. Apparently a McChicken is a tough ask?? Other than a “sorry for your wait” as she dropped our bag on the counter, no acknowledgment

When one orders two milkshakes, it would be really nice if there were straws in the Bag. Nice whipped cream and plastic cap, but no straw? Also, no napkins or salt for the fries in the bag. To late when you get home without them. What gives?

I ordered take out, it took 10- 20 mins for a cheeseburger and (buy 1 get 1 for a doller) 2 mchickens. This one is filled with kids employees, thats already a red flag for service. My order is finally ready, and the kid literally hands me my bag, not folded or anything, literally just dangling it... like im some sort of dog and he let's it go... 🤣🤦🏼 Ive never felt so disrespected by a kid before but am I surprised, absolutely not. This McDonald's is horrible for many reasons.

Sonic Drive-In is a nostalgic fast-food destination that brings back the charm of classic drive-in service. With its delightful menu featuring burgers and fries, it offers a unique dining experience reminiscent of yesteryears. While the quality of food and service is generally commendable, be prepared for varying wait times, especially during peak hours at the drive-thru. Whether you're craving a quick bite or looking to relive some retro vibes, Sonic Drive-In has something special to offer!
This location has good quality and good service, but the wait time varies in the time of day. The drive thru sometimes takes a while. Overall 8/10

DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM HERE This is not the place for a good meal! So sloppy and poor presentation. Ordered a breakfast burrito looks absolutely NOTHING like what is presented on the menu/app.

It's not hard to cook a kids cheeseburger but to get it twice and the burger both times has no cheese. The burger was also very dry. The third time they finally got OK. Oh and this is to sonic Corp. kids most of the time don't like mustard. Extra ketchup even pickles it's just like McDonald's with onions in kids burgers. Oh well, I suggest getting a gas station hotdog.

I had to repeat my request multiple times. I finally asked for the manager. She came to the window. When I told her what I wanted she told the young lady (the one who could not understand) it was supposed to be a HALF of a cup. If you look closely you can see that rather than half a cup she gave me 7/8 of a cup. I believe that was done on purpose and with malice. So I paid $4 for crushed ice with maybe 10 ounces out of the 44 ounces of lemonade. In other words I was ripped off!! I will add to this review of a separate meal. I ordered the “premium” chicken bites. It was like eating rocks. Much more breading than chicken and likely overcooked.

If I could give 0 I would. Worst customer service from a manager I have ever seen and I worked in fast food for almost 10 years. Messed up our burrito. Refused to refund without bringing it back. So I said if I bring it back I’m bringing back the whole order for a refund and then she refused to refund the entire order and called the cops cuz she felt “threatened”. And wanted to play the victim when she was rude as hell Everytime with my girlfriend who was trying to be sweet about the entire deal because she worked for sonic and knows that needing to return the burrito for a refund is a lie. An absolute joke of a restaurant and a joke of a manager.
Dannon B — Google review
We ordered on the app, when we showed up to get your order they informed us they can’t make ice cream and couldn’t give us a refund. We had to call another number to get a refund and it was less than what the items we were missing were. Do not give money to these people that don’t have enough common sense to do their job.

Hiking area
El Malpais National Monument Visitor Center is a well-preserved area with informative displays and friendly rangers. The center provides valuable insights into the park's history and features clean facilities, a covered picnic pavilion, and hiking trails. Visitors can enjoy scenic views, but it's advisable to arrive early for camping as the sites tend to fill up quickly. While exploring the area, be mindful of natural plants and wildlife.
The El Malpais National Monument Visitor Center, located in New Mexico, serves as a gateway for exploring the stunning volcanic landscapes of the El Malpais National Monument. The center is generally well-reviewed for providing helpful information, maps, and resources for those planning to explore the monument’s trails, caves, and geological features. On Fridays, the Visitor Center tends to be moderately busy as it’s a popular time for weekend visitors starting their explorations. Staff are known for being friendly and knowledgeable, offering insights into the history, geology, and ecology of the area. Visitors often appreciate the detailed information about hiking trails, safety tips, and the cultural significance of the region. Displays inside the center include interpretive exhibits about the area’s lava flows, sandstone bluffs, and the historical uses of the land by Indigenous peoples. For those heading out to explore on a Friday, it’s advisable to arrive earlier in the day to avoid any weekend crowds and to maximize time on the trails. Rangers are available to answer questions and often give helpful suggestions based on the latest trail conditions and weather forecasts.

We stayed nearby on our travel day so popped over to the visitor center before they opened. Fifteen minutes early they opened the gate to go to work. We took pictures outside and went a little up their trails to take pictures of the amazing view and some volcanic rocks. We entered the center as they opened. Lots of information and a free map of the site. Early is better as the heat rises all day. We were very comfortable. We even got to see the park ranger raise the flag for the day.

Visitors should stop here first, both to get a map but also to get advice from friendly and knowledgeable staff/volunteers. Interpretative area excellent. Provides suggestions for visiting the entire area. The movie is excellent - don't skip it. It will explain the geology in a straightforward way so that when you see the area, even just driving by, you know what you are looking at. Locals, kids and adults, should come here, for the film and local outdoor suggestions. There's no federal fee charged.

The Junkyard on 66 Brewery, which was established in 2016, is a renowned brewpub located near the El Malpais National Monument Visitor Center. The bar's furnishings, including the tables and bar itself, are constructed from various parts taken from cars and trucks.
We really liked this place! The pulled pork sandwich was great! The place is unique, and the interior tables are made of tailgates from trucks. Very creative in designing the place. The owner was very friendly. Definitely would stay again and come to hangout.

We had a fantastic experience at Coyote del Malpais! This golf course is a true treasure. It's wonderfully tranquil, with just the right amount of visitors to ensure a peaceful round of golf. The course layout presents a delightful challenge, though I must admit, sometimes tracking down that elusive golf ball outside the fairway can be quite the adventure. Overall, it's a must-visit for golf enthusiasts looking for a serene and enjoyable round of golf. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Five stars for the clubhouse staff, the food, and value. One star for the grounds keepers. Most greens are decent, but a handful are spotted with pits, dead spots, and diseased areas. Tee boxes are terrible. Some didn't have a single blade of grass on them. Weeds have overtaken everything inbetween.

Never lost so many balls. The course was unreasonabley rough. The cutting near the greens is super high for whatever reason. Everyone on the course was struggling. Golf is a challenge but this seemed overkill. The woman who checked us in and ran the food counter was kind and helpful. Also the smell near hole 10 and 11 was pretty gross. Probably won’t be back anytime soon.

Wow! We have been there many times and was happy. Not at all now. My dad ordered chicken sandwiches to go. Piece of chicken with a sloppy piece of cheese. They had no tomato, lettuce, NOTHING. Gross!!! 2 packages of ketchup for French fires. That was it! Disgusted for the amount my dad paid.
Michele W — Google review
Everyone was very friendly and helpful even though they appeared short staffed. Coarse condition was better than expected being in New Mexico. Nothing against New Mexico at all but I can just imagine the challenge of keeping up a golf coarse in such a hot, dry environment. I would gladly play here again.
Eric C — Google review
So today I called 2 times and both times I was told "no carts" today. Told my golfing buddy this and he passed, but I went to walk 9. When I got there I saw carts going in and out of the parking lot and carts on the course. I asked about them at the front desk and she told me. The guy going before me, got the last cart. Which really didn't matter to me because I was going to walk 9. She then left the counter and didn't give a reason and didn't come back for 5mins. So I felt the hatred of this place toward me and I just left. Funny thing is I've been coming to this place for years and always had a good experience. But today was it. No more Grants golfing for me. Won't be back never and I've done it to other courses, never returned do to one incident where I felt hated. This course is Okay to play but not by any means a top rated golf course. My golfing buddies are with me on not coming back to this course. Maybe if a new owner arrives, we'll try it again. But to feel the hate that they gave me, wasn't expected. I just hope race didn't play a factor in how I was treated. Never be back here again. 3/3/21.

The New Mexico Mining Museum offers a fascinating exploration of regional history and geological specimens, along with a hands-on tour of a replica mine shaft. Visitors are impressed by the exhibits, including pottery, artifacts, and videos. The highlight is the replica uranium mine where visitors can take an elevator down and experience the atmosphere with audio clips from actual miners and authentic equipment. The museum also features a small shop and offers military and veteran discounts.
We stopped here in the middle of our journey heading to NYC just to take a break. Surprisingly it’s a very good small uranium museum. For the upper level it’s free for sightseeing but you need to pay to go to ground level. The entry fee for ground level is cheap only $4 for age 4-17 years old. And $6 for age 18-60. Worth a visit when you’re around.

Andrea M — Google review
I have 3 Minecraft loving kids, so when we were traveling across the country and I saw a sign for a real mine, we had to stop! We were not disappointed! It was small, taking maybe 30 minutes to walk through, and my kids could not have cared less about the history exhibit upstairs, but we walked that mine down below twice because it was a "real life mine!"
Samantha S — Google review
We had a great visit at the museum. The ground level features native artifacts, some as old as 1000+ years, and various mineral samples. We took the elevator to the lower lever mining exhibit, and the stories told by miners themselves (recordings available at each station) were fascinating. You can really appreciate the complexity of technology and the sheer enormity of human labor during the early mining endeavors.
Maja H — Google review
A very nice museum. We learned a lot about uranium mining in the area. The staff was extra nice. Highly recommended.

This museum was very cool. Our kids absolutely loved the replica of the mine. I would rate it 5 stars but communication could have been a little better. There were a couple field trips when we arrived there. The woman at the front desk made it sound like the mine needed to be done as a guided tour. We waited around for 20 minutes until we learned we could go in on our own. The staff was nice and everything else was great.

The Route 66 Neon Drive-Thru Sign is a must-see attraction for travelers. The drive-thru opening is 10 feet tall, making it unsuitable for some RVs and trailers. Finding parking for larger vehicles can be challenging, but the surrounding area offers plenty of attractions, including historical sites and photo opportunities. Visitors can capture great pictures at this colorful and iconic spot in Grants, just off Route 66.
Visiting with family that lives here in grants , Mt. Taylor just 6 miles north great place to visit , just no green trees and green grass like here in eastern Oklahoma.
Johnny J — Google review
This is a great place to get an easy snap shot - love the sign. Since the web site won’t tell anyone the size of the opening to drive through (nor could I find it in any reviews) I thought I would add it. The opening to drive through is 10 feet tall. Not doable for some RVs / trailers that are on the road and want to visit. Can be tricky to find a parking space for RVs, pray a side street is open. The lot across the street, behind the sign that looks open on maps was full of fire trucks and other cars. Otherwise easy to get to. I’d still recommend a stop for a picture even if you have to stand by the sign. As we say “You’ll Never Be Closer”😀

Pizza Hut is a well-known chain that offers pizza, wings, and pasta for delivery, carry-out, and dine-in. They also have a variety of sides and desserts. extremely poor customer service by the manager and an individual on the phone. He was claiming to be his district manager. I went into the store, ordered an item that they advertised in their window, the total came out to be almost 2 dollars more than what it was advertised for in the window . When I questioned this, I was told "that's how it came up in our system. Do you want it or not?" I challenged this a couple more times at which point the individual threatened to call the police on me and have me thrown out of the restaurant if I would not leave. Once I left this individual claiming to be the store manager, took down the advertised price out of the window. Also note that none of the menus inside of the restaurant have prices on them, which is very suspicious. in the beginning, I was very pleasant about the whole situation until the "manager" was so nonchalant and rude about the situation. This is when I requested the phone number for the district manager, which I was refused and at which point he threaten to call cops and have me removed. I suggest using caution whenever ordering from this particular Pizza Hut in Grants New Mexico

Ordered a pub style pizza, it delivered promptly. The issue is it had been dropped and was soggy. I reported the issue, and to my surprise not even an apology or issue of a refund. I understand things happen, but when you’re in the food industry you make it right. I ate one piece and it was horrible as it wasn’t even thoroughly cooked.

Where's all the workers? Why can't I go in and pay cash for a Pizza? Only debit cards accepted. Sounds suspicious if you ask me. No you may not have My debit card info,I prefer to pay cash.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Terrible Service While Traveling Through Town We stopped here while traveling through Grants, New Mexico, and it was a huge disappointment. We ordered a large half cheese and half pork topping pizza along with breadsticks and mozzarella sticks. About 10 minutes later, the staff came back and said they were out of breadsticks but made a substitute instead which wasn’t what we ordered and definitely not the same. We never got the mozzarella sticks either, and when we went up to pay, they told us they were out of those too. When we calmly mentioned it, the staff got rude and nasty with us for no reason. We asked to speak to a manager, and when we asked for his name, he refused to give it and said he could refuse service if he wanted. He also said the GM has been gone for two months with nobody replacing them which really shows how poorly the place is being managed. The pizza itself was fine, but the lack of communication, missing food, and unprofessional staff ruined the experience. We were just passing through town, but after this, we’ll make sure to skip this location in the future. I’ll also be reaching out to corporate about how we were treated. And we ask for itemized bill they said they couldn't do that for us. And they charge us for three drinks we only purchase two drinks. There are no prices on the menu. We also asked for forks and they said there was none even though salad bar at this location.

Incredibly rude drivers and people are bad at taking orders. In 2021 I still lived in town and ordered delivery. I called the delivery guy over to me because they were walking to the wrong apartment and not paying attention. The delivery man got very rude with me and said that "you don't have to yell" ok. How else am I suppose to get your attention? I was barely loud, just vocal enough for him to hear me. You're walking to the wrong house, idiot. Don't get mad at me for helping you do your job. Although they were rude about it, I was still going to tip EVEN STILL but they took off and left so FAST. Clearly did not want to be there or on the clock for that matter. I really wish I got his name. The workers there clearly have no social skills at all. Especially today when I ordered a hand tossed buffalo chicken pizza and they made it with NO SAUCE, barely ANY CHEESE, peppers and onions. Who tf eats a pizza like that?! And if you didn't make it, please let me save my time and money by telling me you don't so I can order something else. You are TERRIBLE!! Step up your game. Everyone there needs to be fired and replaced with competent staff and workers. The buffalo pizza I'm most likely feeding my dogs because I'm not going back. I don't live in town.

The pizza was as good as Pizza Hut could be but these 5 stars were earned by the friendly help staff. Amelia and Isaiah went above and beyond to make our visit awesome. They have great customer service and I’ll be back just because of them.

Pizza was good as always. Breadsticks weren’t as good as us usual, not sure why all Pizza Huts never cut them anymore. 6 wings for 10.00. Friendly staff.

It's everything you'd expect in a subway, just slightly better. Everything is clean, fresh, and they have a good staff working there.

I stood waiting to pick up my order, one staff was assisting customers. The other was cleaning. The one cleaning the slicer would not acknowledge me at all. It was an online order that was ready and paid for. She could have simply asked if I was there for an order and hand it to me. But I had to wait for the other staff to finish with the other customers. The bread was not what I ordered. Everything else was good.

Great place to stop in for a healthy bite or if you’re like me a pizza sub lol. Staff is always up front ready to work and helpful. The restaurant is very clean tables all wiped down. The restrooms where clean and well stocked. Do yourself a favor and stop by and check it out.

Stopped by and there was 1 employee mopping the floor. No greeting, he ignored us. We stood waiting for service as there were no employees behind the counter. Got tired of waiting, drove around the building and 3-4 other employees were standing out back. I said hey there’s people waiting at the counter. They just laughed and made some remark.

Stop by for a quick dinner. Place was clean and workers were very friendly no issues on order.

Ordered 2 subs. 1 meatball and 1 chicken, bacon ranch. We received 2 different subs. The receipt was correct , the subs were not. See the picture of what should be a meatball sub. Chicken, bacon, ranch, had no bacon or ranch. Very disappointed.

Fast food restaurant
Ice cream shop
Dairy Queen Grill & Chill offers a range of delectable soft-serve ice cream and unique shakes as their main attractions. This traditional burger and fries fast-food chain can be found within a convenient store that also stocks an assortment of snacks, sodas, and even liquor. Although the drive-thru tends to be quite busy, stepping inside eliminates any lines, making it easy to find clean restrooms. The staff at this Dairy Queen location are friendly and efficient in serving customers.
This Dairy Queen location is very good. It was clean and the staff got our milkshakes out to us pretty quickly. They did a good job of managing the flow of customers from both the drive through and in the restaurant. I have really been enjoying the Over the Rainbow shake lately.

12/18/2024 8:30 pm This is my first visit to this Dairy Queen. I usually go to Sonic on the other side of town because you get more for your money. However, I figured I'd give this DQ a try since my hotel was down the street. I noticed the dining area was clean and was quite busy. A tall young guy took my order, and either he was not in the mood to be there or was tired. I say that as he seemed to have the "I don't want to be here, demeanor." I didn't take this personally, obviously, but it was not an enthusiastic or happy presentation. There were two young ladies also working in the background (or drive-thru), and I saw an older lady pop up in the back as if to monitor the situation. One of the girls made my Blizzard, and I was given it right away. So the service was pretty quick, and my Blizzard stayed cold long enough for me to enjoy back at the hotel. I've been to some DQ's where the ice melts down rather quickly, and this one didn't. Overall, the customer service experience could have been a little better but everything else was great.

Outrageously paid $5.50 plus tax for what you see in the photo. Barely a scoop of ice cream with a few drops of Carmel. When I asked why there was so little ice cream less than half of the same thing I ordered yesterday at another Dairy Queen the sassy lady said, “ I make them weigh them. It’s the correct weight.” Well lady, other Dairy Queen’s make their product look good and have an appropriate portion for a five dollar purchase. Look closely at my photo and you can see the extra fifty cents for whipped cream. That lady was lounging on the counter while her two employees working were scrambling to fill orders. Most disappointing ice cream purchase in my lifetime. The blizzard my son got was good but he said not nearly as much cookie dough as he has gotten the last week at other DQ’s all over NM and AZ and only $1 more than my pitiful sundae. We have fewer DQ’s where we live so have been to DQ five times this week. I have never given a one star review but this deserved it. Skip this DQ and go to one who serves customers and makes their product look like advertised. Or, get triple the ice cream for a Sunday at half the price at Sonic just down the street.

New workers with bad attitude, went in wensday about 6:00 pm . The lady was talking my order has a bad attitude. I usually come in a lot and usually all worker's are nice, even the owner is really cool, But I won't be coming in no more. These new workers are going to bring down this dairy Queen.

I ordered a 6 piece sauced basket. I got 2 whole chicken strips and 2 strips broke into half to make up the other 4 strips! Not to mention, they forgot my gravy! Thanks for ripping me off, dairy queen! 0 stars!!!

Very nice stop but service is painfully slow.

The gravy is like water down the chicken strips are overcooked I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody, and I think I’m going to stick to my DairyQueen a Dancing Eagle this one in Grants was not good at all!!! I didn’t even want to give a full star, but they don’t have the option for no Star.

Many have been visiting this place since childhood, creating lasting memories with their loved ones. The friendly staff makes diners feel like part of the family, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. Customers praise the delicious food, particularly highlighting the fresh and tasty buffet options.
My partner and I dined in recently after a recommendation and couldn't be happier. The buffet was small, but everything was fresh, hot, and tasty. I particularly enjoyed the fried, breaded, pork pieces. Everything I selected tasted great. We live in Albuquerque but will be visiting more often.

Stopped by here when I was passing through on my way back to California, absolutely starved as I had not eaten all day. They were getting ready to close but I was welcomed in to eat at the buffet. The food was delicious and the ladies working there were so kind and accommodating. When I was ready to pay, I was given a to-go box and offered more food to take with me. Truly amazing people and a delicious buffet. Highly recommend.

The family finally returned from vacation!! The wait was worth it, though. The food was AMAZING as ALWAYS. The people are ALWAYS so nice and inviting. I feel, that's what makes the experience of eating here more enjoyable. I've been coming to eat at Canton Cafe since I was a little kid with our family on Dad's payday. What a great memory ❤️😋❤️ I imagine, it's like that for most people. I always try to eat something different but I have my favorites 🤔😋😆 I hope and pray they will be open for many years to come ❤️🙏🏼🐉🌻😋❤️ creating new memories for other folks... There's more than salad on their menu. 🙂

The food is always delicious and the service is perfect at a good price. This time, rather than get the buffet, I got the moo-goo-gai-pan with extra mushrooms, steamed white rice, and lemonade and took half home for dinner the next day. It was so healthy and delicious!

Love The Good People 😍 , Love the good food Id eat here all the time if I could . Very good price 😄 why not .
Proud B — Google review
Experience was marginal. Staff was friendly and responsive but too much of each food was put out at a time resulting in lukewarm offerings. The food was either just not great (sweet & sour pork was tiny pieces that were mostly breading, crab rangoon had an odd sour taste, and chicken teriyaki sticks were just too umami, like somebody went nuts with the fish sauce in the marinade) or seemed mass-produced, like the desserts. Nothing was actively bad, just not hot and not really delicious. The fresh fruit offerings were fresh and tasty, and the ice cream was fresh and at the ideal temperature for serving.

Stopped here to have dinner with family, this place has run down to awful. Thought we would have a good dinner. Ordered Hot and sour soup was horrible. Nothing was appetizing. Paid about 75$ for food we didn’t even eat.
