Sonoma Coast State Park offers a rugged coastal experience with sandy beaches, picturesque headlands, and various outdoor activities such as swimming, camping, and picnicking. The Kortum Trail provides stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and runs along the coastline from Wrights Beach to Blind Beach. Visitors can enjoy birdwatching, spot sea lions or seals at certain times of the year, and even witness whale migrations during specific seasons.
Guys this place is absolutely beautiful. 10/10 am going again. Hiking, fishing, a nice drive with your people, it's defenently worth it. The weather isn't normally too hot, and there's often this mystical fog, especially in the mornings. You have your pick of beach way, rocks, etc. Or just drive a few minuts and youre in forests and hills.

Sonoma State Beach is nothing short of breathtaking. The coastline unfolds with dramatic beauty, rugged cliffs, rolling waves, and tide pools teeming with vibrant marine life. It is a place where nature speaks loudly yet peacefully. The tide pools are alive with wonder, offering an intimate glimpse into the ocean's delicate ecosystem. Sea stars, crabs, and anemones make this beach a living classroom for both the curious and the contemplative. Parking was surprisingly manageable, even during peak hours. Just be sure to plan ahead and arrive early if you want front row access to the more scenic entry points. Footwear and cleanup prep are essential. Bring an extra pair of shoes, a towel, and water to rinse off after exploring. The beach is clean but rugged, and the reward lies in being prepared. You can follow the main trails or carve out your own adventure along the coastline. There is a feeling of freedom here, a kind of quiet that invites you to explore, reflect, and just breathe. Highly recommended for nature lovers, photographers, and those seeking a reset from the noise of everyday life. Sonoma State Beach delivers the kind of beauty you carry with you long after the tide goes out.

Family time at the beach... lots of room but get there early as parking can be tough. Beautiful and clean beaches. Stay updated on the weather, it changes daily!

All the little stops on this coast are truly amazing. They are all so pretty and breathtaking. A definite must see on your trip.

Absolutely beautiful!! I would highly recommend the short hike around the park!! Loved how I could hear the sea lions but couldn’t see them!!

A huge park that contains several beaches with stunning views. It was very windy and foggy when we visited but still very beautiful.

The beauty of this cruise along the coast is the herd of deer. The ratio of males to females are equal in that the growth of the flock is steadily growing.
Nora R — Google review
Take the time to come visit this location and enjoy some amazing views of the Pacific coastline. You can do a small easy walk or get crazy and do a challenging hike in this area for even more wonderful sightseeing. I highly recommend you take the time to stop into Fishermans Cove, located at 1850 Bay Flat Road for some delicious Halibut and Chips. The clam chowder was pretty good as well.

Goat Rock State Beach - Sonoma Coast State Park

4.8
(1077)
Park
Hiking area
Goat Rock State Beach, part of Sonoma Coast State Park, offers a peaceful and uncrowded beach experience with breathtaking views. Visitors can fly kites over craggy sea stacks or observe a colony of harbor seals. The beach is easily accessible and features linked bluff trails that stretch for miles. While the northern beach where the Russian River meets the ocean provides an opportunity to see seals and sea lions, it's important to note that swimming is not recommended due to strong rip currents.
“Goonies never say die!” “Hey you guys!” I had a great time with my daughter Amanda exploring this area. So many beautiful views. Whether atop the bluffs or down on the beach you can enjoy the stunning views, chill out, enjoy a picnic, take a hike. It was the filming location for the last scene in Goonies where the Goonies are reunited with their parents and the pirate ship sails away in the background. It is also referred to as Bodega Bay.
Stewart C — Google review
Breath taking. Stopped along the way out on our last day. Would spent dedicated time while we were there but it's a protected area and I wanted to fish and crab. So we only stopped by for a quick photo op on the way home.
Charlie T — Google review
This is a very popular destination. So be prepared for crowds on weekends and holidays. The surf here is rough and strong. Unfortunately, there is at least one drowning here every year. On the northern end of the beach, is the Russian River Estuary. Seals and migrating birds are often here. Or you might get lucky and spot a eagle. The southern end of the beach has some tide pools. And at low tide you can walk over to Blind Beach.
Tino P — Google review

Was foggy when we arrived on bluff with picnic table, you can see Goat Rock in background. Fog cleared a little later.

What a great place! I strongly recommend making the trip if you're anywhere near here there's just so much to do and so much to see it's a truly unbelievable area we will definitely be back and next time we're going to bring a picnic and make a day of it! I did notice there was no TP in the restroom. Thankfully, I didn't need any.
David H — Google review
Great out of the way spot to relax and enjoy the beach. Usually not crowded at all. Drive in is not for the faint of heart though. Views are outstanding!
Adam S — Google review
It was so pretty out there and foggy. The temperature was just perfect. A lot of people stop there to admire the beauty of the place, even the firefighters stop there just to admire mother nature. The drive there was amazing and there are a lot of little towns. So if you ever bore just take a drive this place. There are no bathrooms nearby or there. Also, be very careful don't get close to the edge because the ground is kind of loose. Other than that, enjoy it!

Blind Beach

Beach
Blind Beach, located near Goat Rock south of Jenner, is a secluded pebble beach offering stunning views of the ocean and Arch Rock. Accessible via a narrow path that zigzags down from the parking lot, it's ideal for beachcombing and fishing. The hike down to the beach can be challenging, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

Great views from the parking lot. If you're up to it you can hike down to the beach. When we were there last, however, the storm had damaged the ladder for the last leg to the beach. One of the restrooms was clean and equipped with toilet paper, the other was stinky and dirty.

Excellent walking beach. Or just to spend time together building sand castles, doggie fun or sunbathing. Relaxing looking for seaglass and wave watching.

Restaurant
Nestled conveniently along the highway near Goat Rock Beach, Russian House #1 is a delightful spot that offers a taste of Russian-inspired comfort food. The menu features hearty dishes with complex flavors that are sure to satisfy any palate. Visitors rave about the warm and friendly staff, who create an inviting atmosphere for guests to engage in meaningful conversations, especially around spiritual topics.
This place was one of the most unusual experiences for us. You can take whatever the restaurant offers that day and pay as much as you think necessary. It is especially weird for California. The food we got was good though, and it was nice to see some Russian speakers as well.
Evgeniya ( — Google review
This is probably the best location where someone can own a Russian restaurant. In this quiet place the Russian river is just in front of you. This restaurant has a good size, can hold at least 30 people and it is well arranged and orginized. It seems what they do here is entertaining people. The eating part is just one item of their entertainment. It is also the place where people can come and socialize while playing musical instruments, solving puzzle games ets. Because the food is not the main purpose of this establishment but only supplemental, the variety of food choices is very limited. There were only 4 items available during my presence and it was a buffet style; serve yourself and have a good appetite. Even though the food choices were limited, they were prepared well and tasted delicious. They decided for you what is the best to make you satisfied. And, i believe they achieved that goal undoubtedly. Overall, this restaurant's environment is pleasant and satisfactory except for a few things that i wish would be different. First, it would be nice if they provide gloves for one time use just like in Zizzlers restaurant to take buffet items. It is in addition to what they already do- sanitation. Secondly, i was not exited to hear from a restaurant hostess a warning about using too many plates. "If i do, i would have to wash them. " Well, i used 3 plates, and i did not mind to wash them later. I agree, we need to save water; perhaps, that is why i was asked not to use more than one plate. However, it would be better to use eco-friendly disposable plates and cups. Finally, the fair price for the food i ate is somewhat uncertain because i do not know about how much money and efforts were used to make it. However, i can estimate the price by comparing how much i would spend for the same amounts of food in other restaurants like in Kauai, Hawaii and San Francisco, CA. And, i came to a conclusion that the market price would be around $25 plus tip. And, that is exactly what i "donated" for my meal. Lastly, my experience was limited in this restaurant because of my tight schedule to be in the area; nevertheless, it was enough time to make a conclusion: it was worth to visit. Also, it is possible this restaurant will be moved to another even better location in the near future. Recomend, keep checking on line to find out where that place will be.
Alex V — Google review
A unique place that accepts donations in lieu of a traditional style restaurant menu. The food is hot and ready to be served and it works like a buffet table. Take what you want and pay what you think is appropriate. I know some of the staff personally and they are hard working men and women who put their heart and soul into this establishment. Thank you for all your hard work!

1st time viseted the place I fell in loved! Promised to take my gilr! We were there yesterday! Tanya home cook food was so good! Ambiance is beautiful....so peaceful over looking Russian River...ill always gonna stop by here of Iam in the area, definitely worth a trip! Kids enjoyed all kind of mind games

I don’t know how people can complain about something that’s free…. I thought the food was delicious anyway and the staff was kind. My CHRISTian friends enjoyed discussing with some of the staff about their spiritual beliefs, given the amount of New Age looking material around the Russian House. Thank you for the piroshki and tea, delicious! And the view is fantastic, it’s so quiet when the cars are not passing by. Building looked well kept, volunteers are doing a fantastic job
Eric — Google review
Truly unique experience. Spent more time over there than originally planned - just did not want to leave. Yes - you have small menu of tasty food; be sure to ask Polina for her amazing tea. Leave the fare amount for food in a jar. Enjoy the views!
Konstantin G — Google review
They have 5 to 10 dishes already prepared. You take what you want and eat at their tables while exploring Russian games, puzzles and other stuff. They seem to always have vegetarian options. Afterwards you pay what you feel the meal was worth. If you are in the area and looking for a new experience, it is worth a try. They accept credit cards and cash.

Wwoooowwww Russian Old believers food in California?! It's really hard to find in Russia lol How is this possible? Because Russians came to California in 1802 and build Fort Ross (must see). Payment of conscience! Wow! Where can you find that? Only in Jon Bon Jovi restaurants in Jersey....

Watertreks EcoTours Jenner Kayaks offers a great opportunity to explore the Russian River and Jenner estuary by kayak. You can rent kayaks from this place, where the owner personally demonstrates the basics of maneuvering in water and provides information on recommended routes and sceneries. The rental includes clean life vests in different sizes. Visitors have enjoyed observing harbor seals, river otters, and sea lions up close while paddling through the waters.
We are east coasters who love Jenner. Kayaking with Watertreks EcoTours is always a highlight of our trips to CA. We always end up working with Keith to get set up. He is an absolute pleasure to chat with and a true fountain of information about the history, flora, and fauna of the area. We always end up chatting with him for a while. For the beauty and remoteness of this location we are surprised that the rental prices are comparable to every other river kayaking we've encountered across the states we've visited and in our home state of PA. What a treat! The location is super convenient, right across from Cafe Aquatica which is an incredible coffee shop where you absolutely must grab breakfast before you get on the water or lunch after. The team here makes sure you're set up to kayak safely, explaining the areas to avoid. They also educate you on how to enjoy the wildlife (which often includes seals sunbathing on the beach) respectfully. Every time we've kayaked here, we've been lucky enough to have seals pop their heads up in the water nearby us. It's a magical experience. Highly recommend if youre ever in the area, and it's worth making a trip if you're not!!
Erica M — Google review
Expensive ($60 for 2 hours per single kayak) but otherwise lovely spot to kayak in and around the estuary where the Russian River meets the ocean. The abundance of bird and marine life makes it extra special, there are seals everywhere, as well as egrets, blue herons and ospreys. The folks running this place are nice, knowledgeable and offer real tips on how to make the most of your time. One of the bonuses of kayaking here is that you can access the north end of goat rock beach that is otherwise inaccessible on foot.
Davoud K — Google review
Keith was friendly and knowledgeable and a great representative for this small town business. He offered many tips and demonstrations to make us comfortable when we were on the water. We noticed the pride and care for the way he handled the equipment too. Visited with him several times during our trip and he always greeted me with a great attitude and even more local insight. Our kayak experience was amazing largely to the information and confidence Keith provided us with!
Drone K — Google review
Super easy to rent kayaks here and then we just brought them right in the water! Price was very reasonable and they made sure to answer all of our questions and especially we knew what we need to do for safety on the water. Would definitely use them every time we go vacation there.

Keith was an excellent guide he told us all the best places to stop and the history of the area.

This review is about the booking process and customer service--I would not recommend this company if you want to reserve kayaks in advance of a trip to Jenner. The website is overwhelming and doesn't have an online reservation system. It took a lot of phone-tag to actually reach them, as they're a small operation and spend part of their time on the water--fair. My interactions with the owner were unfortunately frustrating. In a phone call that was filled with random tangents, it took over 10 minutes to book 2 kayaks. There were high winds the morning of my reservation and I suspected kayaking would be canceled, but I hadn't heard from WaterTreks. I called them, and the owner confirmed that day's cancelation. It was another very long-winded conversation. She transferred my reservation to the next day, weather pending, and said she'd call me later that day to provide final confirmation either way based on the forecast. She never called. I would only use this company when doing a walk-up booking. The hassle for advance booking just isn't worth it. 2 stars because they don't charge until your outing.

Amazing experience! Payed around $120 for 2 hours of duo riding between two singles. It was very fun.

Cafe Aquatica is a charming bungalow by the sea that offers stunning views of Sonoma's Jenner estuary, where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean. The cafe serves delicious house-made pastries and coffee, making it a perfect spot to relax and take in the natural beauty. Visitors can also rent kayaks from Watertreks EcoTours across Highway 1 and paddle to observe harbor seals in their natural habitat.
My boyfriend and I love stopping by here for breakfast whenever we stay at the Jenner Inn. The food is always local, fresh, and delicious. We usually order coffee and a sandwich, but we tried the crab melt once and it was amazing! Since it’s the only café in town, expect a bit of a wait — but it’s definitely worth it. One morning while we were eating breakfast, we even spotted otters by the water, which made the experience even more special.

This place is special. I came early before it was crowded…very misty, little breezy. No line and my choice of chairs. Heaven! The coffee and avocado toast were delicious, (watch out for the little black birds…especially the big fat bully, they will try to steal your goodies) there were hummingbirds in the giant lupine, it made my whole morning. Come early for a little solitude and bring a jacket. I can’t wait to come back.

We've stopped here a couple of times now, really good food, and the view is also very nice. Most of the tables are outside, but they also have some covered ones in case the weather isn't nice. They mostly have sandwiches, a few salads, and a wide coffee selection. Great stop if you're in the area

Wowowow so happy to have stumbled into this gem. I don’t think it gets better than this- the coffee was AMAZING, food was SO fresh, and the scenery was brilliant. The team manning the shop were icing on the cake- Bianca was so easygoing and helpful with food allergy questions. You could honestly spend all day here, so relaxing and hospitable.

Nice spot for coffee. Order inside, get your coffee through window outside. Seating under roof out of the wind or more outside with better view on Russisn river and kayaking people. Would recommend trying this place.

Cafe Aquatica is one of those hidden gems you stumble upon by chance during your travels. Driving from Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve to Bodega Bay, we found ourselves without cellular reception to search for lunch spots. Passing through Jenner, we decided to stop at Cafe Aquatica—and it turned out to be a delightful surprise. The staff were warm and welcoming, the views were breathtaking, and the food exceeded expectations for what appeared to be a humble riverside shack. Overlooking the Russian River as it meets the Pacific Ocean added a serene charm to the experience. The Smoked Lox Bagel was a standout, and the clam chowder, though different from the rich New England style, offered a lighter, clear broth that was equally enjoyable. The only downside was the lack of an on-site restroom. Customers are directed to the public bathrooms in the adjacent parking lot, which unfortunately are quite disgusting. While it might suffice for guy who can go standing up, the women in our group opted to wait for a cleaner facility elsewhere.

In an area where Michelin starred restaurants are the big draw, this unassumimg spot served up my favorite meal during our visit to wine country. Everything, from the homemade lemonade, beef tallow fries to the adult grilled cheese with tomato bisque, beet salad and key lime pie, hit the bullseye. It was a truly satisfying meal, start to finish. And to think, we almost judged this book by its cover. Thank goodness we took "a chance".

Okay so this place is new, they're still getting dialed in with their recipes/offerings - so this is my provisional review. Pineapple pulled pork was delicious, enjoyed that quite a bit with the brioche bun. Sauerkraut could've had a bit more vinegar, but we met the owner and she assured us it's headed in that direction. Tomato soup was a little too much cream not enough tomato, but the grilled cheese was deliciously cheesy. I saw some more orders come out, the burger is big and looks delicious. The fried chicken sandwich also is large and looks good. I'll be coming back in a few months to try them again. Cute spot with a nice view.

Great setting. Indoor or outdoor along the scenic Russian River. It appeared dogs could sit outside. Service was good. Food was okay. Wasn't bad but wasn't memorable. We got the Adult Grilled Cheese and Tomato Basil Soup, Brisket Sandwiches, Fried Chicken Sandwich, Beers, and Fries. The Adult Grilled Cheese with the Carmalized Onion Jam was spot on. The Tomato Basil Soup was bland and almost sour. It needed a lot of help. Salt, sugar, or croutons. There was no salt, pepper, or sugar on the table to adjust the taste. BBQ Brisket is okay. Shredded vs burnt end style. Had better but would eat again. Homemade ketchup, which none of us liked. Very base and almost sour. Need more vinegar, salt, and/or sugar. We ate the fries sans ketchup. Beer selection is 3 on tap. Great beers and variety for the limited selection. We would come back more for the location, ease, and service with the hope of trying the food again and being wowed.

We got the grilled cheese & soup and their smash burger with tallow fries. The burger wasn't bad, and the fries were pretty good, but I think it was a bit over cooked (fries and patty). The grilled cheese was burned. They said it was cause of the sauce or the bread or something, but all she could taste was burnt.. my wife was pretty disappointed, but didn't speak up at the time. This place is still new, so we plan on giving it another shot down the road after they get it dialed in. Though, I don't think we will risk the grilled cheese again lol..

Did I say Melissa the waitress was amazing? Well she was too. Will go back there again for sure. And you should too. I would have posted a photo of my chocolate mousse pie but.... I ate it!!!

I love this restaurant. We travel often up to Mendocino but prefer the coastal view . We stopped at Jillys a famous location from Alfred Hitchcock’s movie the birds. In movie 🎥 reality it is North of bodega bay before Jenner . Delicious delightful. We just added this stop to our drive to Sea Ranch and Mendocino. The smash burger amazing the tomato soup beyond amazing and the Aperol Spritz heaven . Dog friendly so our husky got a break to see the Russian River exercise and be ready for the 27 mile trek up the mountain to Sea Ranch . A must stop 🛑

Nestled in a picturesque spot where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean, River's End Restaurant & Inn has been a beloved destination for two decades. The inn offers cozy woodsy rooms and cabins, providing a tranquil retreat with private balconies showcasing breathtaking views of the Sonoma coast. With no modern distractions like TVs or telephones, it's an ideal place to unplug and unwind. The restaurant boasts locally sourced fare and stunning ocean vistas, making it perfect for enjoying unforgettable sunsets.
It was such an emotional day for me that I didn’t even take any pictures! 😄 The place is truly beautiful — all those photos with the stunning views are real. The ambiance is perfect: elegant but not pretentious, cozy but not too simple. I booked this restaurant for my husband’s birthday dinner after a long trip, and we weren’t disappointed! We ordered the 3-course dinner — everything was delicious. I especially loved the tuna tacos and the halibut, and the dessert was wonderful too. The service was exceptional, but I want to give a special thanks to Evan! He was amazing not only at his job, but after finishing his long shift, he helped us to start our rental car when the battery died right at the top of the hill ))) Thank you so much, Evan! It’s not just about that polite, professional “cold friendliness” you often see in service — it’s about genuine human warmth and kindness, which is so rare nowadays. Thank you, thank you to the entire team! I’ll never forget this day 😁💛

Went there for dining only. Location of the restaurant couldn’t get better than it. We couldn’t see the sunset due to weather but if you could, go there before the sunset! Food had a great variety and was decent - we tried the clam chowder and duck rolls followed by the elk steak (recommended at rare or medium rare). The elk took about 40 mins to wait, but overall service was excellent. The bartender was particularly sweet and lovely!

One of the most spectacular sunset locations you will find at a restaurant anywhere in the world. The setting above the mouth of the Russian River is truly stunning. We’ve had dinner and or drinks here several times and the food and service has always been top-notch. The drive from here to Bodega Bay is also breathtaking. It’s about 20 mins from Bodega and Guerneville so accessible from either direction. Highly recommend. Also, there is a pay phone here for unknown reason. I can’t think of another I have run across in the past few years.

Everyone especially Gabriel was warm, friendly and helpful. Bartenders and servers were exceptional! Our house was perfect. The views were too!! We had the filet mignon and salmon. Both melted in your mouth and the sides were delicious too

PERCH Cabin #1 Review Note to customers: Please drive slowly. The speed limit is 25 mph in Bodega Bay. Deer and other wild life are depending on you driving slower than you normally would. It's very hard to see around the curves and the deer camouflage against the hill side. The GREAT: Gabriel was wonderful to work with. The location was perfect. The view was fabulous. The bed was super comfy. The WiFi password was room specific (great internet security feature). I would definitely consider coming here again or giving a hotel stay as a special gift to family members. This cabin is on my top two hotel rooms I have ever stayed at! This felt like a much needed once in a lifetime experience (hoping to come here again, though). The BAD: The price of the desserts were shockingly high ($18/ea - if you don't have money to burn, you'll want to check dessert prices before ordering!) The restaurant did not have plant milk nor a Vegan dessert available. I would have ordered two coffees but plant milk was not available. I learned after consumption that the non-dairy creamer powder in the cabin room was not Vegan; it's made with milk solids. Areas that could be IMPROVED upon: put a washable throw rug on the carpet (hotel carpet will feel gross to some guests), have an ice maker available for guests (I couldn't freeze my ice packs and didn't have ice available), add a small microwave in the room to reheat restaurant left-overs, and add an accessible outlet near the bed.

Stayed in 2 nights in surf cabin 2 and had dinner. I will return. I always enjoy the Cali coast but this place is special. Excellent accommodations, private, quiet, amazing views! Opening the windows each night and listening to the waves was perfect. Temps were fabulous. I really enjoyed having the fireplace. Sunsets on the balcony were fabulous! Dinner was great. Only suggestion I would make is offer a breakfast for guest like a B and B. Don’t hesitate to book here. This place has me looking at Jenner real estate.

What an excellent establishment! We visited the restaurant bar on Saturday July 26th. Brian, the bartender, was super sweet and VERY knowledgeable with our drink orders. He prepared a delicious French 76, margarita and Old Fashion. We also ordered the clam chowder which was AMAZING!! I don’t even like clam chowder and it was fabulous! The chef must sprinkle crack on top. We also ordered the beet salad. Most beets taste like dirt. These did not. Far from it! I actually enjoyed the beets which is a miracle. We highly recommend this establishment. Beautiful location.

We rented the cypress room, with views of the Russian River to our left and the Pacific Ocean in front of us, amazing location! We watched sunsets from our bed! We also ate at the restaurant one night, great service, food is much better than expected.

Day 2

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Salt Point State Park. Not quite as popular as Goat Rock Beach, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Park
Salt Point State Park is a stunning coastal destination in Northern California, offering panoramic views, rocky coastlines, and secluded coves. The park features wild tafoni rock formations to the south of Stump Beach and a breathtaking coastal waterfall at Phillips Gulch to the north. Visitors can explore whimsical rock formations along the bluff in the coastal prairie north of Fisk Mill Cove.
We arrived to do the hike from Salt Point trail to Stump Beach. The path was easily navigated with some spots of mud (recently rained) The coastline was amazingly beautiful- not sure if we arrived at a special time, but the waves were crashing spectacularly. The last walk down to stump beach was the only real “climbing” you need to do with a small navigation across some water to get to the main beach.

Stunning views of the coast. Very easy to walk around, and due to the remote location, usually not too crowded. A bit of a precarious drive if coming from the south, and coast is similar to Monterey Bay or other locations closer to SF. But nice trails to enjoy both the sea and forest.
Jeff D — Google review
Beautiful grounds up the coast. I graded a 4 due to driveway conditions for trailers and their listing of "no potable water on site" but there is all throughout. Just don't hog it is all. Sites are well maintained and bathrooms clean with flush toilets. Amazing scenery not far away moderate trail to rocky ocean. We will be back, maybe after they fix the driveway.
Happy M — Google review
Amazing state park. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Do all the trails, anytime of year, preferably in winter/spring when everything is green.
Josiah R — Google review
Low-key state park south of Sea Ranch is hands down beautiful. Amazing and easy hike on the bluff above the ocean. It was a gorgeous 70 something degree and sunny day and the park was nearly empty. Saw sea lions and seals in the surf, and numerous vultures and hawks floating on the updrafts. Was high tide so we couldn’t experience the tide pool areas but I’ll bet they are equally stunning. The sandstone rock formations were beautiful. We scoped out the campgrounds, they didn’t seem like anything terribly special but the location is top notch.

This park is beautiful and amazing. The staff super friendly and welcoming. The ocean views … oh my gosh… the history all of it. This is nice place for local getaway.

I am here with my family every year. Very nice place to stay camping. Wish it is open during winter time.

Salt Point is one of my favorite places in the world. I have been coming here since the 1970s. The wood side campground is like heaven. I especially like the rocky shoreline with its amazing rock formations. A short distance up the highway is Kruse Rhododendron reserve it has first growth redwoods and in spring wild Rhododendrons.

Nature & Parks
Stillwater Cove Regional Park is a picturesque 210-acre preserve offering a mix of forest, meadows, and ocean access for activities like kayaking, fishing, camping, and hiking. The park features over 3 miles of trails including the scenic 1.6-mile Canyon Trail loop that winds through towering redwoods along Stockoff Creek. Additionally, the Stillwater Bluff Trail provides stunning views of the Pacific coastline. The campground is small but cozy with friendly hosts and well-maintained facilities.
This is a hidden gem on the coast. We have camped at Stillwater Cove campground a few times now and love the trails at the park.
Julie M — Google review
Nice and quiet. Our campsite # 11 was underneath the trees and was very close to #12 which would've been perfect for 2-3 families camping together. The facilities were well maintained but the only issue was the water source. They have E.Coli. I hope that they can fix the problem. The view of the coast is just across the street. Our camp host was very friendly and we enjoyed our stay here. I would love to camp here again someday!
Jolina L — Google review
This is a beautiful park to visit for short hiking. There is a .25 mile hike from parking lot to beach, but you have to walk across highway 1 to access. The hike following the stream up into the hillside is stunning and so peaceful under tall redwoods. The downside is, there are fallen trees that have taken out bridges and pathways here that prevent you from using the whole trail. I was glad that the trail allows dogs and even provided poop bags.
Richard M — Google review
Pretty beach and adjacent forest. One of the great things about California is its diverse areas in close proximity, and this park highlights that well. Hiking trails are somewhat limited, but generally well maintained. There are some bridges out, but crossing the creek beds was not an issue at this time of year. Not sure if it will be more challenging when the rain starts again. You do need to cross a somewhat well used road to get to the beach. Beach is pretty, but somewhat small and enclosed, so no ability to walk along the shore. Great little regional park to relax and enjoy nature.
Jeff D — Google review
This is a somewhat smaller park with limited hiking trails. The redwood grove here isn't at big as in some other parks. But there's a certain calm feeling here that can't be found in heavily visited areas. Be aware that if you take the trail to the cove, you have to walk across highway 1. It's much safer to just drive to the cove than to hike to it. There is a campground here as well. However, the infrastructure is a bit worn and the sites aren't that private.
Tino P — Google review
Staying at Ocean Cove, which is a beautiful peaceful older campground. We love the location.
Laura M — Google review
Nice little tuck away beach. Awesome for fishing, zen or a picnic
Jesse O — Google review
The campground was very small but it didn't feel that way. The campground hosts were very polite and pleasant, as were the park rangers that came around to say hello and give us our parking pass. The walk to the beach was .3 miles from where we were so it's an easy stroll there and back. The restrooms are well lit, clean and well stocked. The camp hosts have firewood bundles to sell you and they even provided a bit of newspaper and kindling. All in all it was a pleasant experience. We had a shared parking area for our camp site for two nights and both sets of campers that stayed next to us were friendly, polite and quiet. We had some fish tacos about 3 miles north of the campground and the view is excellent.

Historic Sites
Fort Ross State Historic Park is an 1812 Russian-American settlement located on the scenic California Highway One, offering sandy beaches, panoramic coves, and redwood forests with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. The park features several preserved and replica buildings from the early 1800s, a small museum, trails, campsites, and access to Sandy Cove beach. Visitors can explore the history of Russian presence in North California while enjoying breathtaking ocean vistas.
Fort Ross was a highlight of our recent day trip from Bodega Bay. The drive along Highway 1 was breathtaking, with stunning coastal views and winding roads that made for an adventure in itself. The fort itself is rich in history, offering a glimpse into the Russian settlement that once thrived along this stretch of California’s coast. Walking through the reconstructed buildings, including the chapel and wooden stockade, gave us a real sense of life in the early 1800s. The visitor center had excellent exhibits on Russian exploration, trade, and interactions with the local Kashia Pomo people. One of our favorite parts was the beautiful walk down to the ocean. The trail winds through lush coastal terrain and opens up to a stunning view of the Pacific. We spotted seals lounging on the rocks and enjoyed the peaceful, rugged beauty of the shoreline. The weather was cool and breezy—perfect for exploring. If you’re in the Bodega Bay area, Fort Ross is well worth the visit. It’s a great mix of history, nature, and incredible scenery, making for a memorable day trip.

I had an amazing time exploring Fort Ross State Historic Park. The fort stands atop the bluffs and filled with stunning ocean views. The park shows us an amazing history of a Russian outpost settled in 1812. I went on Saturday and there were role players in the fort. There are several trails through the area.
Stewart C — Google review
Fort Ross is an incredibly unique and well-preserved historical site that offers a surprising look at a less-known chapter of California's history – its time as a Russian outpost! Very cool place to visit
Robb J — Google review
Cool piece of history. Neat to go into many of the buildings. Its also great there is a bathroom within the fort walls that is a very nice touch. Be sure to bring your walking shoes and beach towel. Its about a half mile walk down to the beach, which is very nice. The beach had jellyfish washed ashore and pelicans diving for fish. The water there is beautiful in color, albeit cold.

Go back in time with Fort Ross Visit. Beautiful woodwork on a large scale and stunning lagoon to hike to! We loved fortifications of a real fort. Very cool place to visit, especially if you enjoy a beautiful walk or more challenging hike further down to the ocean
DressageArt — Google review
Absolutely stunning and full of history! Fort Ross is one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The restored buildings and museum displays bring the early Russian settlement and Native Kashia Pomo heritage to life in such a beautiful way. The ocean views from the bluff are breathtaking, and the coastal trails are peaceful and easy to walk. The park is well maintained, the staff and volunteers are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and there’s a calm, almost spiritual atmosphere here. Great stop for families, history lovers, or anyone driving along Highway 1. Don’t miss the small chapel and the view of the cove -it’s magical at sunset!
Olga L — Google review
It was unexpected for the park to be so immersive and educational. The history was very cool and interesting. The views of the Pacific and areas by the water were gorgeous!
Jennifer B — Google review
We were really impressed with Fort Ross Historical Park. The 15 minute video at the Visitors Center was really informative, and it was one of the best Visitors Center we’ve been to. We then wanted through the woods to the reconstructed Fort (which has one original building in it) It was really well maintained, we actually saw 2 men sweeping floors there. In all, Fort Ross was a great experience and exceeded our expectations.

Nestled in a remote and breathtaking location, Fort Ross Vineyard Tasting Room offers an unforgettable wine tasting experience. The outdoor deck provides stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, redwoods, and meadows. Reservations are required to visit this coastal winery where guests can savor four estate-grown wines paired with locally sourced charcuterie and artisanal cheeses. The drive to the winery is as spectacular as the destination itself, with winding roads leading through fragrant redwoods.
Fort Ross Vineyard and Winery is a small producer located in a remote area a few miles from the coast in the southernmost part of the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA. We happen to love Sonoma Coast wines, so we were really looking forward to going to the only tasting room in this area. The tasting room itself is relatively small, but stylish and comfortable - think Restoration Hardware. Even though it was mid-April, it was still pretty cold (50F) when we arrived for our 10 AM tasting, so it was thoughtful of them to have the fireplace going. Wine tastings are by appointment only, so be aware of that before you go. We opted for the food and wine pairing tasting for $75 pp instead of the wine only tasting for $50 pp. The extra $25 was absolutely worth it. When we arrived, we were offered some 2022 Chenin Blanc which was a welcoming touch. For the tasting itself, we were served four wines - the 2019 Bicentennial Chard, the 2019 Fort Ross Vineyard Pinot, the 2018 Top of Land Pinot, and the 2018 Pinotage (the owners are South African and brought over some vines) - we were also served a tasting of the 2019 The Terraces Pinot as a bonus. Each of the four wines were paired with small bites to eat. Bicentennial Chard with “Fennel and Apple Salad, Herbed Mascarpone, Cardamom Crostini” Fort Ross Vineyard Pinot with “Maitake Yakitori, Cherry Teriyaki Sauce, Napa Cabbage Slaw, Macadamia Nuts” Top of Land Pinot with “Forbidden Rice Risotto, Oyster Mushroom, Roasted Cauliflower, Valley Ford Estero Gold Cheese” Pinotage with “Coffee and Ancho Seared Flank Steak, Broccoli Rabe, Cheesy Grits, Pinotage Glaze” (They have a vegetarian option for this one if you ask) The food was delicious on its own, but more importantly, each one paired very well with the matched wine. The entire tasting showcased the food-friendliness and versatility of Sonoma Coast wines. Really well done. Unfortunately, the day was overcast, so the view was limited, but the grounds are beautiful. Overall, it was a great, memorable experience. If you arrive in the area early, you can pass some time by walking the Vista Trail that is located near the intersection of Meyers Grade Road and Route 1. It has beautiful views of the coastline, it’s entirely paved, mostly flat, and takes maybe 15-20 minutes to do the entire loop. Lastly, there is no cell phone reception (at least for T-Mobile) in the area. None. Not even a hint of a bar. So take that into consideration by making sure you have downloaded maps onto your GPS so you can use it offline.
VT A — Google review
Beautiful winery in spectacular scenery. Not really a tasting room though. As unless you visit on Monday or Tuesday, they only offer wine with a multi course meal - making it more like a restaurant with wine accompaniment. Nothing wrong with that per se, if there wasn’t a large sign by highway 1 offering wine tasting. So, a good one to visit if you plan it in advance and want lunch. But a poor location to drop in on if you’d just like to sample their primary product.
Ben M — Google review
We were very excited about tasting Fort Ross wines based on the reviews that I read. The drive was fairly long and arduous but absolutely worth it as the setting is stunning. The tasting room is very nice with an excellent deck. We enjoyed the wines especially the pinotage, but overall the quality was not as high as I expected. Overall enjoyable and worth a trip to visit the Sonoma Coast, but not likely to visit again.

This winery is a hidden gem! It’s nestled in the forest, but worth the trek! They are very accommodating with dietary restrictions. The food sampler was interesting and tasty!! Great vibes overall. Quiet and private, with beautiful views on the patio. Would definitely go back!

You won't just stumble upon Fort Ross Vineyard, it's remote, but totally worth it! The drive is spectacular with beautiful vistas around every turn! Reservations are required. The drive ends at the beautiful tasting room. This winery produces mainly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Equal to the quality of the wine was the tasting plate; the flavors stood on their own and complimented the wines so well. Wonderfully kind guide was very knowledgeable and helpful!

Had a lovely wine tasting here. The balcony is quite sunny with gorgeous views of the gardens and ocean. Excellent food and wine pairing. Would be happy to return again!

If you’re asking yourself whether the drive is worth it, the answer is yes. We made a reservation for the food and wine pairing, which was an absolute steal at $55 a person. We had fried oysters, a mushroom flatbread, salmon, steak, and dessert, all paired with several vintages of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. John was a fantastic host, even going so far as to give us an extra pour for our photo shoot on the deck. Truly a hidden gem.

I found the lodge while searching for pet friendly places. I was not disappointed. They gave me the room right next to the fenced in dog yard! The room was very clean and cozy. There were big windows that were easy to open to let the sea breeze in. The view from my front door was lovely, once you look past the old fashioned restaurant. The staff were helpful, but I would stop short of saying friendly. I would visit again with my dog though, without a doubt.

Cozy little oasis by the ocean. Nothing like going to sleep by a warm fire listening to the sound of the ocean. Ocean cove is really a beautiful place to land. New owner and staff were welcoming and accommodated our needs. Most of the rooms have been renovated and are quite nice. If you’re in the area and need a place to stay this is a great choice. It’s more affordable than the other lodges in the area and you still get the amenities and of course a wonderful ocean view!

This camping in open public lots amongst and in close proximity to others. There are good sites, some with a fire pit and wood picnic tables. The ocean is cliftside but absolutely stunning. They have a no noise policy after 9 pm and strictly enforced. All toilets are portapotty style and showers are open top and take coin currency $3.00 for 6 minutes. The hiking and exploration are beautiful. They have a small but quaint local market, which has just about everything you might have forgotten (open 9am - 6pm) They might have small stacks of bundled wood ($10.00 each - cash only) You also have access to faucet water, but it is not drinkable. You will need to filter.

Liked the places a lot. Rooms are pretty small. Only issue we had was the "wifi" there is no cell phone service, and you must rely on wife for calls. Our internet was turned off at midnight. I would have no problem with having a pay option to keep on throughout our stay. On site restaurant was very good.
David C — Google review
Room was clean and recently remodeled. Restaurant was closed for renovation. So was the hot tub. We were given a Wifi password that lasted only 24 hours; when it expired, there was no internet, no phone reception, and nobody at the office. The "breakfast" included with the room was cheap cereal, tangerines, apples, and gas-station pastries. The hot water for the tea/coffee was not hot. The "breakfast included" should not have been in the room description so that we would've known to bring decent food of our own. (Room had fridge, coffee machine, and microwave. )

Coast Kitchen is a restaurant located inside the Timber Cove Resort, offering stunning views of the ocean through its large windows. The menu primarily features seafood but also includes options for land and vegetable dishes. The atmosphere is simple and fitting for a seaside eatery, with excellent service to complement the dining experience. Guests can enjoy delicious meals while taking in fantastic sunset views. Additionally, the resort itself provides refined rooms and suites, along with amenities such as a gym and meeting/event space.
A day trip on the coast. Making stops along Highway 1 to enjoy the views. Coast Kitchen is inside the Timber Cove Resort. Truly a special find. The restaurant has big windows facing the ocean. At sunset, the views are simply fantastic. The menu focuses on seafood. Still, there are land and vegi options. The atmosphere is simple and appropriate for a seaside eatery. The service was great. We selected halibut and squash with pasta. Oh my, what a treat. You pay a little more here. And, it's worth it. A wonderful finish to a beautiful day. Well worth a visit. We'll be back.

The service was just absolutely on point solid burger. And the bathrooms were extremely clean. I have not been paid for this review. It was genuinely a great experience. Thank you all at Coast Kitchen for the lovely visit. I will be back, Universe willing!

I recently dined at Coast Kitchen while staying at Timber Cove Resort, and it was a convenient, tasty option right on-site. The burger was a standout—juicy, flavorful, and exactly what I was craving. As for the mussels, they were decent but nothing exceptional, a little too heavy on the white wine sauce; I wouldn’t say they’re a must-order. The ocean views and laid-back resort vibe made it a pleasant spot to grab a meal after exploring the coast. Service was friendly, though a bit slow at times. Overall, it’s a great stop if you’re staying there—solid food and prime location.

Very good food. I had the oysters to start, followed by the lamb shank, and finished up with a creme brulee. Everything was excellent, the vibe was rustic and laid back, the service was amazing. Well worth the time if you happen to be in the area. The restaurant is attached to a resort and while we didn't stay there, the rooms look spacious and the views are incredible.

Service was friendly and helpful but a little slow at times (too many tables and only one server?). Food was good: I had the smoked salmon - good portion lots of accompaniments; too many capers. Others had huevos rancheros and eggs Benedict. Both were good. The fresh orange juice and the coffee were very good. View out the window was great when the fog cleared. Would definitely recommend.

We have stayed at Timber Cove a few times now and the restored midcentury mod hotel feels like high end glamping and the staff is amazingly friendly/helpful. We stayed for my husband’s birthday last year and had a dog-friendly suite. I coordinated ahead of time to do a private room for a special birthday meal. For the special meal they allowed me to also bring in some special wine. The chef put together some offerings for us for the dinner and coursed it out. This year we were back for Thanksgiving. We ended up staying coincidently in the same exact suite, and Coast Kitchen had a special Thanksgiving menu. The food was good on our last visit but it was even better this time around. The chef has elevated the food experience a bit and it shows. I attached shots of our food from the dinner and the excellent Pinot we enjoyed from their wine offerings. I also included shots of the burger and chicken sandwich we had for a lunch one of the weekend days in the lobby / lounge area. The server we had for both of our dinners there was outstanding. She was attentive, made great recommendations, and was just the right mix of funny and professional. I can’t remember her name but she’s from Sea Ranch. Overall, if you are up along the Jenner to Sea Ranch area, this should be one of your dinning stops for a super casual lunch in the lounge or dinner in the dinning room.

We had the most shocking experience at timber Cove today. We booked a dinner reservation online and upon arrival found out there was a private event happening. First of all We were made to feel like it was our fault we had booked the reservation through their 3rd party app, clearly someone in their end didnt black out the date. This was after driving 45 minutes up the coast with our four year-old and 96-year-old grandmother. Mistakes happen, and fortunately it was still early enough in the day, oh well. Now the event was not even happening, staff was still setting up chairs and there was no active party or guests anywhere. I asked if I could use the restroom before we drove 45 minutes back down the coast. I’m very clearly pregnant and needed to pee! I was told no that I could not, and that I needed to vacate the premises immediately because there was a private event! An event that was not happening anywhere in the area we were!. I was fairly shocked by this answer. I asked to talk to the manager and was told I was talking to the manager. This made me even more shocked! Clearly, there was a restroom somewhere on the entire property I could’ve used. But instead, she told me she would escort me off the property and then watched me waddle all the way back to my car. I guess she wanted me to loose my bladder in the parking lot? Upper management/and the owner of the establishment should be deeply ashamed of how their manager treated me. We’ve been coming here every year for 10 years when we come to visit our family and sadly this will absolutely be the last time we ever come up.

My husband and I stopped here for a late lunch on our drive up the coast. They were serving a mid-afternoon menu that had so many choices - we both got the burger, and it was amazing! The servers were great and so welcoming. Wish it had been better weather (bomb cyclone, anyone??) because the views from both the front and back decks were amazing! We explored the hiking trails a little bit, and they also provided amazing views! Would love to stay at this hotel next time we’re in town!

Day 3

North side of town
For day 3, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Goat Rock Beach, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Tasting By The Sea Wine Bar. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Outdoor Activities
Goat Rock Beach is a picturesque stretch of sandy shoreline featuring weathered boulders, active waves, and seal sightings. Located within Sonoma Coast State Park near the mouth of the Russian River, this Jenner beach offers stunning views of immense sea stacks and white-capped waves. It's a popular spot for various activities such as birdwatching, hiking along trails like Kortum Trail and Pomo Canyon Trail, which leads hikers into a redwood forest with a seasonal waterfall.
My daily landscapes are flat… NOTHING like GOAT ROCK which has almost become a sort of pilgrimage for us. The awesomeness of how this humongous rock was formed… There really are no words! It’s like after North America was formed, just to add a final statement to prove grandeur Goat Rock stands proud! A beautiful part of Creation for sure! If you love being outdoors make this a “GOTTA GO HERE”on your bucket list! Enjoy!!

Goat Rock Beach looks absolutely stunning—definitely one of those classic Northern California coastal views. I had planned to visit recently but ended up turning around because the wind was just too intense. Definitely recommend checking the wind forecast before you go, especially if you’re hoping to hang out or take photos. Still on my list to revisit on a calmer day because the views alone are worth it!

Beautiful spot. Bring binoculars to view the seals because you have to stay a good distance away. We also spotted a bald eagle on our visit!

Blew my mind as soon as I drove into Blind Beach parking lot. You get the whole view of Goat Rock Beach. Absolutely incredible. It is very windy! Definitely going to visit again.

Huge beach that makes for a good walk. Dogs are allowed but keep them on leash when there are other people around. Would bring a jacket cause the fog rolls in quick. The current looks strong and the water is cold, would recommend a dip but not a swim.

Beautiful, stretching beach with a wonderful variety of views and scenery

Great beautiful location to see and feel the California coast line. Nice place the hang out, nice sandy beach below the outlet of the Russian River. Don’t recommend going in the water here. Undertows and rough currents. The beauty of the area is peaceful and quaint. The river area there is kayaking and paddle boarding.

One of our favorite beaches 🐾🌊 the waves, the rocks in the water, and the wildness of the coast all are so beautiful 💕

River port
Russian River, located at the mouth of the Russian River, offers a variety of water activities, with kayaking being a popular choice for exploring the town and its beautiful surroundings. Visitors can start their day with coffee and pastries at Cafe Aquatica before renting a kayak from Watertreks EcoTours across Highway 1. Paddling along the river allows for scenic views as it empties into the Pacific, where harbor seals can be spotted from a respectful distance.
This is the place where the Russian River mouth is. And its length is 110 miles. Beautiful location!!! There is also another Russian River located on the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. It is just 110 miles south of Anchorage and only 13 miles long.
Alex V — Google review
This is not a port. It is a protected wildlife sanctuary within the Estuary at the mouth of the Russian River. The river itself is very long and comes through three counties. The river mouth itself is deadly. If you value your life and don’t want to get up to a $10,000 ticket stay away from river mouth currents and the wildlife including many harbor seals and sea birds and their babies that are resting in that area. It is roped off on land as “Do Not Pass” as well. No fishing is allowed in the estuary wildlife nursery or off shore of Goat Rock or Driftwood Beaches. I help set the safety flags for State Parks at goat rock Beach. Have fun enjoying the wildlife in the main estuary, but stay safe and within the calm waters that do not have a current. Even if the tide at the moment looks calm also stay 300 feet back from the river mouth itself. More information is available at the State Parks visitor center at the main kayak and paddle board launch in Jenner. The person walking past the harbor seals in the photo is less than one quarter the legal distance away from the wildlife and he is in danger of being swept into the river mouth or out to sea by sleeper waves. I am completely unsure who or why someone would post this location the way they did as it is very misleading and we want people to stay safe.

I have been going to goat rock beach since I was a kid. Just walk north of their and you will find the mouth of the Russian River. Remember to give the seals their space.

Beach
Jenner Beach is a relaxed and rustic coastal spot located on the north side of the Russian River's mouth. Accessible via a scenic trail, this sandy beach offers picturesque views and a tranquil atmosphere. While it's not recommended for swimming due to strong waves and currents, visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls, sightseeing, and even let their dogs play in the water hole. The area also attracts fishing enthusiasts who can be seen along the rock and cliff edges.
Lovely spot to hike and views are amazing

What a beautiful beach on the Sonoma County Coast. I see that someone said this is a "sketchy" place, nothing can be further from the truth. Yes, a couple had been killed here years ago but it is not the norm. DO NOT let that person discouraged you from a visit. If you park along one of the cut-outs along the highway, there are a few places to make your way down to the beach, it can be a bit steep for some so make sure you have good shoes. Or, you can park in an actual parking area down the highway and make your way up the beach. We decided to park in a cut-out take a narrow trail down the hillside, it wasn't too bad up or down and when we got to the beach it was absolutely beautiful. We made our way to the driftwood hut and took a few pictures, even added a few logs, then strolled along the beach aways and watched as the tide rolled out. It got pretty windy so we left, but next time we'll bring a blanket, some food (wine of course), and probably our skim board too. Go, enjoy the beautiful coast, take some pictures, and have fun. Went to Jenner many times in my younger years but had an absolute blast visiting for the weekend recently. Paddle boarding newbie here, and I felt so comfortable on the water here. Hanging with sea lions nearby in the water, popping up to”say hi” every so often and beautiful birds overhead. Looking forward to returning!

Beautiful coastal area on hwy 1 in Sanoma County just north of Bodega Bay. Not a lot of sandy beach access however it makes up for it in great coastal trails, grassy slopes and rocky cliff views. There was no wind to speak of and it was amazingly warm for December. Keep in mind there is some roadwork on the hwy making for short delays with a light stopping traffic as the road turns into a one lane for a little ways.

Island
Penny Island offers a serene experience with the chance to enjoy live music at Cafe Aquatica while paddling along the river. As you pass under Highway 1, take in the sight of the bridge spanning above. The area is known for its tranquil ambiance and wild vegetation, giving it an almost otherworldly feel. A stop at this secluded spot promises a unique and peaceful adventure amidst Sonoma County's natural beauty.
The most empty place in Sonoma county. There's one random abandoned shaCk with the usual stuff. The wild vegetation makes it feel like a sci-fi movie, certainly worth the stop.

The Jenner Visitor Center is a great stop for visitors looking to learn about the area's ecological heritage through interpretative displays and a small bookstore. Adjacent to the center, there's a convenient boat launching area and a charming cafe known for its live performances by the river. In addition, Jenner offers several restaurants with stunning views of the rugged coastline. The center also provides helpful volunteers who offer valuable advice on wildlife sightings and other local attractions.
Very helpful volunteer answered questions and gave good advice on seeing animals. Information about the area plus books, hats, etc for sale. Outside are 3 picnic tables. 2 with cover for sun or rain. 2 bathrooms, non flush type. No sink for hand washing. Bathroom was clean enough for use. Plenty of TP. Launching area for kayaks and rafts. Gas station across the street. Cafe next door.

Tasting By The Sea Wine Bar is a charming spot located in the coastal community of Jenner, California. With its deck offering stunning views of the sun shining upon the sea and the meeting point of foamy waves from the Pacific Ocean and the Russian River, it provides a magical experience. Visitors can also explore nearby activities such as guided kayak tours along the estuary or ocean kayaking with rental companies like Watertreks and Lotus Kayak.
Gorgeous little spot to stop & enjoy a glass of wine. Road trip from sac for my b-day & it was perfect. Got there just as they were closing up but the hostess was such a sweetheart. We sampled a few wines & got a bottle to enjoy as we sat taking in the beautiful view of the evening. Pet friendly we had our puppers & they brought out a bowl of water for her. Had the place to ourselves & it was absolutely dreamy.

Our host was beautiful and knowledgeable. Recommended great glasses of wine for us. The views here are amazing. Live music. If you go on the weekend they dont do wine tasting. You can order wine by the glass or bottle.

I don’t think I can fully sum up the experience of being here. Words won’t do it justice, and photos seem to fall short as well. Though there aren’t many food options, the food available is excellent, and there are a ton of great wines. Live music on a regular basis, which is always a pleasant addition to the atmosphere, and the view out over the Russian River and coastline is phenomenal. It gets chilly so dress warm.

OMG! Tasting by the Sea. Says it all. A beautiful place to stop and enjoy a bit of wine or have a beer. The Russian river ends its journey into the Pacific Ocean. Nature's best, water sunshine and wildlife. Glorious.

Salty dog true blue local wine bar. Absolutely amazing place to chill and hear live music on Sunday. Love the northern Cali laid back vibes. Our little lady loved it too - all outdoors so fur babies welcome. No food, but you can get food outside from the cafe two doors down.
Drew M — Google review
If you enjoy wine, I wouldn't recommend this place. It not a tasting room, more like a wine shack behind a business. The wine is equivalent to two buck chuck with a price point of $15-18 per glass. The staff is nice and the view is decent but not really worth anything over $5 a glass.

Excellent spot for wine tasting with a view of the bay. Friendly service and live music is a nice touch.
