The OZ Museum in Wamego, Kansas is a tribute to all things 'Wizard of Oz', celebrating the original book, the iconic 1939 movie, and even the Michael Jackson remake. The museum features exhibits dedicated to the books, movies, board games, souvenirs, and more related to the Land of Oz. Opened in 2003 to house collector Todd Machin's Oz artifacts for just five years, it has become a must-visit attraction for fans of L.
Wonderful experience! Fascinating and presented so well. The guy who talked before we went in was great too. Very clean and lots of neat items from the books and the 1939 film and other versions as well.
Gary J — Google review
Fun roadside type attraction (in town). Good historical content from the various movies and you can sit and watch the entire movie in their movie theater if you have the time. Gift shop is cute and even has a wind tunnel to experience tornado winds. A bit expensive for a whole family to visit but worth the stop for a one time visit.
Alicia J — Google review
Great staff. Wide selection of Oz items on display & a great selection of merch to pick from. We love to get the souvenir penny any chance we see a machine, they had one. They also have the coin holder for the smashed pennies. Good stop. We spent about 20-30 minutes here stretching our legs but you could easily stay over an hour. We take photos of the signs and read them when we get to where we’re headed so we breezed through quickly.
Carrie C — Google review
Made an 8 hour drive to visit Kansas and this was on our to do list. Admission was only $10 per person and you can go at your own pace. A lot of replicas but a fun experience and loved all the facts throughout. A lot of photo opportunities throughout as well. Nice little gift shop attached and the lady at the counter was super friendly. After this we followed the yellow brick road and found all the Toto’s in Wamego. Cute town and enjoyed the museum.
Rose G — Google review
This place was great! It had lots of scenes with all the characters and movie items. It had a theater playing the Wizard of Oz continuously. Also a hot air balloon basket you can go in for pictures. And don't forget the gift shop! It has a tornado machine that you can go in that simulates a real tornado! Well worth the $10!!!!!!
Sharon B — Google review
Loved it. Our girls saw ‘Wicked’ recently and our 4 year old is really into wizard of oz. We may even dress like it for Halloween. What a wonderful place they’ve created in Wamego, Kansas! Currently there’s an online ticket promotion we were able to access and didn’t cost us but 10 dollars for the 4 of us. Workers here obviously love their job and know ALOT about the history and the original movie. I’m sure we’ll be back. If you haven’t made the trek and you’re a local, you HAVE to check it out!
Jordan G — Google review
It was so cool! I recommend you visit this if you get the chance! It's a little quick but if you go through and read everything you can stretch it out to an hour. They also have the movie playing 24/7!
Austin R — Google review
If you are a Wizard of Oz fan, and you are near Wemango Kansas, this is a must see! They have over 2000 items on display, documentaries playing and even the movie itself. Plus of course a gift shop with many different things to purchase. Well worth the $10 adult admission fee.

Toto's TacOz is a beloved Wizard of Oz-themed restaurant in Wamego, known for its cozy atmosphere and rich history as the best Cal-Mex Restaurant on the Yellow Brick Road. The menu offers a wide variety of hand-prepared dishes that are sure to satisfy any visitor. The restaurant's decor perfectly complements its Mexican-style dishes, creating a delightful dining experience. A nice little stop over after touring the museum. Had street tacos and Junior burrito. They have two options that are not Mexican cuisine that are more international that changes. The food was really good, had one of their signature hot sauces to add to the street tacos, it was the chipotle one - so good! Would recommend if you’re hungry and in the area.

Such a cute little restaurant near the OZ museum. The atmosphere is all things Wizards of Oz and it is too cute. Food was amazing, many options and you can customize quite a bit. Staff is very friendly! Definitely recommend grabbing a bite!

Quick and friendly staff. Generous portions and good assortment of food and drinks. The chicken enchiladas and the beef nachos were excellent. Convenient parking. Don’t forget about the museum next door and the picture opportunity across the street for the yellow brick road.

Great little Mexican food place. Very friendly service. Good food. Small and quaint little place. Oz stuff all over to look at which I loved. They even all dogs that behave. Must stay by you. She even had dog beds available for them to lay by your table and dog water dishes. How Fantastic!

This place is AMAZING! Super flavorful and just the right amount of heat. We had the Barbacoa and Alaskan Cod street tacos and they were delicious! We also grabbed a pint of salsa to take home because it was so tasty (the mild red). 😋😊💖

It was a fun little place to eat after visiting the Oz Museum. The guaco taco was a great vegetarian option. My kiddos are kind of picky so they just had plain nacho chips and cheese. I think they would have enjoyed it more if they had branched out a little more and tried some of the other choices.

Barleycorn's Downtown Deli in Wamego is a delightful sandwich shop that offers a fantastic menu with a wide variety of options. The atmosphere is charming and cozy, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal. The friendly and efficient staff provides excellent service, ensuring that your dining experience is enjoyable. With their extensive knowledge of the menu, they can make great recommendations based on your preferences.
It may have been empty of customers when my SO and I went there earlier today around 4 pm, but that didn't change the pleasant mellow historic atmosphere of the building. The food was delicious, I had a barbecue Mac and cheese wrap with pulled pork, and my SO had the Dagwood sandwich. Let me tell you, the first look I got at that sandwich had me wanting to try it the next time I go. The BBQ mac n cheese wrap was grilled perfection, the spiral cut macaroni blended perfectly with the pork, and there was both a subtle heat to it as well as a nice rounded sweetness to it once you get past the mild spiciness. I had a side of warm potato salad, and it did not disappoint. It was a good choice for the weather we were having at the time (overcast but not too chilly). Will definitely go again. Prices aren't too terrible, everything comes with a side, the drinks are the only thing separate from the meal. Lots of yummy options had me warring between what to get. Definitely worth a visit, whether you are a Wamego native or visiting from out of town.

First time here and last. The food was warm when it came out and not hot. The waitress was very pushy and just wanted to get away it seemed. The food was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth it

This is a sweet Main Street deli in Wamego, KS. I had a Mafioso sandwich (their version of an Italian) and it was delicious. The side of Chessy Cron was also especially yummy. They have local beer on draft too! I found the people to be nice and the food well worth it!

Made a trip from Omaha for the weekend and were surprised to find this fabulous coffee shop in a small rural Kansas town. We love to coffer so much, we made a second trip back after attending Mass. We also grabbed to bags of their fresh roasted beans. The coffee and food were absolutely divine. We will be back! Besure to stop by this gem.

This will be the greatest coffee house that you will ever enter during your existence on this wonderful planet. They roast their own beans and keep them whole until they grind them just for you to take home. Early sum mornings you can smell the beans roasting and you will drool like a little baby. The food is also beyond amazing. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone even if you're only going to visit just one time you will be truly Is blessed beyond measure.

This place is truly an underrated hidden gem with so much to offer! I do wish they included boba on the menu, but the employee was incredibly friendly, and the prices were reasonable. The space is quite small, so it's not ideal for large gatherings. Still, it's a lovely spot worth visiting!

I had to drop off my car right across the street for new brakes, so I thought I’d grabbed some breakfast while I waited. I’m glad I did. I ordered a ham and egg breakfast burrito, a small mocha and a canned pineapple coconut drink. Everything was delicious and the service was terrific.Everyone was friendly including some the customers. I will definitely be coming back.

Jim's coffee is not like any other's! Once you taste his cup of Joe, no other coffee will ever compare. The staff treats each customer like family, and their made from scratch muffins along with their options on breakfast sandwiches; blows McDonald's way out of the park. I promise you will find your Paramour at this locally owned coffee establishment. They strive to provide the warmth of love within.

While visiting the Oz Museum we saw the sign below the Yellow Brick Road arch and decided to try them out. Girlfriend ordered their Breakfast Burrito which was good but just a little dry. It's a good thing she asked for sauce in advance. I had the Biscuits & Gravy which were really good. I would have preferred basic Hash Browns rather then the Country version but overall it was good. Their cookies and cakes looked amazing and our server told us about their really good Cinnamon Coffee Cake but the fella at the register said the weren't making them that day. I would refrain from offering items that aren't available.

What a charming place to have breakfast and purchase baked goods. I had the three meat and cheese bierock and it was delicious. Everything we had was good and we can tell things are homemade. Ended up taking cookies home with us. Also, appreciated that they let our dog sit with us on the porch while we ate!

My husband and I stopped in here after visiting The Oz Museum. What a good decision. I had the Grecian stuffed burger and cucumber salad and it was delicious. The burger was cooked perfectly, the buns were homemade and the cucumber salad was perfect on this hot day. My husband had the same, but with potato salad. We also took some fresh baked cookies to go and had a couple on the way home to Wichita. They were soft and chewy, just the way we like them. The cookies seemed to be very popular, as there were many customers ordering them as we were waiting to pay our bill. Employees were accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend stopping in here for lunch if you’re in the area.

Loved walking down the yellow brick road to this adorable place! The chocolate chip cookies are delightful! The people there were very friendly and engaging. We look forward to returning for a meal. Highly recommend for the bakery, staff, and cute rooms.

A great place for a lighter lunch while exploring the town. We got the Bierok and broccoli cheese soup, both were fantastic. A strawberry cream cheese Danish was delicious, the fresh strawberries were perfect. We got cookies to go and haven't tried them yet, but definitely would stop by again.

I was getting a takeout order, but appeared to be very busy and popular on a Saturday morning. Built within a historic-looking house, so space was limited as well as other facilities (restrooms, for example). Nice people handling the orders, and my small sample of the food (most of my order was frozen) was simple but good.

Wamego City Park is a charming destination for a leisurely stroll, a delightful family picnic, or simply basking in the peaceful surroundings. The park offers playgrounds for children, ample picnic spots, and expansive green areas to relax. It's also an ideal venue for local events and community gatherings. This picturesque city park in Kansas boasts an array of attractions including an Olympic-sized swimming pool, an 1879 Dutch mill, a historical museum and village.
As my wife and I traveled across country, we just happened upon Wamego Kansas. We probably spent two to three hours in town walking and admiring. Wamego City Park was one on the areas we spent the most time in. It is a beautiful park with a pond, an old Dutch Windmill, a museum, and several other quaint areas to explore. The perfect place for a family picnic, or to just spend an afternoon in the tranquil peace and quiet. We loved the small little town in rural Kansas.

A nice park, though the playground is pretty big. So it can be a little tough to keep track of your kiddos of you have a few, or more. Especially when there are a lot of other kids there, which happens somewhat often. Pretty little pond, and a fun little train for the kids to ride on, when it's running, which definitely isn't all the time.

This a very beautiful little park. Stopped there on our way home and had a great walk around it. The pond is very clean with some cool critters and it really adds to the scenery. The park is also very clean and awesome, the tall trees are gorgeous.

Definitely a place to come back without the Tulip festival crowd. And Definitely not worth the visit for the tulip festival. I was under the impression the festival was going to have more tulips involved, but that was not the case. Anywyas 5 stars because I'll be Definitely be coming back, to have my girls run around. The playgrounds are amazing and its equipped for ALL ages. Worth the 45 mins. Drive from JC

The husband enjoyed the ribs but did not like the burnt ends as they resembled a beef roast. However, the sides offered were exceptionally delicious with options such as baked beans, green beans, coleslaw, and cheesy casserole. The portions of sides were small but reasonably priced. Extra orders may be necessary for those with larger appetites. Despite this, the portion sizes were satisfactory for most people. The sides alone are worth going back for!
My wife and I stopped in for supper yesterday and we were a little concerned because no other customers were there. Usually not a good sign. But because of the positive reviews we went ahead and ordered food. I'm glad we did! Pulled pork was awesome, the ribs were delicious, and even the sides were good. I found the baked beans to be very good. Service was also very good and the owner spoke to us and asked if we were satisfied. What more can you ask for? Oh, the traffic in and out increased as we ate and I could tell that Wamego residents know they have a little gem of a place to get BBQ!

We happened upon Smokin Willes after visiting The Oz museum and it was a great.find. They had awesome brisket and the baked beans were incredible. Their peach habanero sauce was great with a zip of hot and the others we very.good as well. It has a backyard barbecue feel atmosphere and was not crowded adding to the atmosphere. It allow us to enjoy our meal and focus on filling our bellies. The staff was friendly and made sure we enjoyed our meal and got our take on their excellent BBQ. I will go back to Wamego, KS just for the bbq.

We had two half orders of nachos with the brisket. The brisket was pretty darn good. The nachos were excellent with everything on it. The shop has really nice air conditioning and it was really clean. The stop were really nice and helpful and cheerful. They really care for the place that they were cleaning tables that were already cleaned. I think they take the heart the phrase if you have time to lean you have time to clean.

I've been here many, many times as I'm a local and I've got zero complaints. If you're looking for some of the best barbecue around swing in. Their ribs are to die for. The BBQ parfaits are awesome and if you get a burrito you'll need nothing else as the burritos are HUGE!

Honestly this was the best BBQ I’ve had in a long time. The ribs were super tasty and fell right off the bone and the various sliders were fantastic. My favorite part of it all however was the peach habanero sauce. Never had anything like it and I was blown away by it. Would highly recommend it all and plan on returning whenever I’m in town.

Delicious BBQ! Moist tender pulled pork and brisket, and unlike some BBQ, their meat isn't just tender, it tastes good too! The dry rub they use really enhances the flavor. It's worth finding a parking spot and waiting in line for. I will be back for sure. Update: Wife and I just tried the ribs. Amazing! They fall right off the bone and are so juicy!

Ordered brisket nachos, got like a rump roast type meat, which was cooked properly just it didn't have any flavor not even smoke from the grill or even marinade. It was just flavorless meat. However, the nachos are well put together and I prefer a little more lettuce and tomato. No complaints on the ribs or sauce. My son enjoyed his half stack. Was anxious to get BBQ thanks

We try to frequent this establishment at least once a week. Usually the service is top notch. We tend to enjoy sitting at the bar if there is an opening. We enjoy being able to watch our teams play. We love the regular bartenders. Recently though there has been one that is very inattentive. I personally sat with an empty glass for over 20 minutes while she bragged about how great her bloody marys are. We were eating that night as well and she didn't check on us once. I also was not able to pay at the bar where we were seated and had to find one of the other servers to tab out. Overall its a great place but it seems as though there could be some small tweaks in the abilities of the staff. I love that it's such a busy place but maybe more attention to detail would benefit the consumers. Once again, I will return but feel that if you are going to keep your high standard, that these things need to be addressed.

We stopped by for a late lunch after reading a news article about this place & wow, we were impressed! We’ll definitely be back to try new menu items. The housemade ranch was INCREDIBLE, and the onion rings were potentially some of the best onion rings I’ve been blessed by (I’ve had a lot of onion rings)… incredible fry batter-to-onion ration, the onions are actually cooked into the batter & don’t slip out; I am just shocked by those onion rings. So so so good. I don’t think I’ll ever stop thinking about them, quite frankly. Don’t miss out on the onion rings. The rest of our food was pretty good too! Fried pickles were pretty great & the truffle fries were decent! I got the BELT burger with onion rings and it was great. The bill added up quickly as our server didn’t let us know that sides were extra but no biggie! Just something to be mindful of when you’re ordering. Service was friendly & kind! Food came out at a good speed and our server was very sweet (so were there other servers that visited us!). Just a great place all around…. I’m so happy we got to try this gem & we absolutely cannot wait to be back!! I can’t wait for more onion rings.

Diner
Breakfast restaurant
The Friendly Cooker is a delightful eatery in downtown Wamego, known for its fresh and mouthwatering food. Unlike chain restaurants that often serve lukewarm breakfasts, this place offers piping hot and delicious meals. With super friendly staff and the option to order homemade pies, it has quickly become a favorite spot for many. The breakfast menu is particularly impressive, with their chicken fried steak 'n eggs being highly recommended.
Wow! The food here is fresh, hot and delicious! So many times I've had luke warm breakfast from chain restaurants I had forgotten what a real hot breakfast was like. Well you need to come here because the food is hot and so so good! Super friendly people and she makes homemade pies to order!! This is my favorite place to come now! Definitely worth the drive to beautiful downtown Wamego!! UPDATE! we came back on a Sunday morning and had an incredible breakfast! Thank you for the awesome service and your Chef is worth her weight in gold!!

Always a pleasure to eat here. Friendly atmosphere & quality food. But the homeade pies are so darn good. We'll be back again.

A very good diner. The food is wonderful and the staff are friendly and take care of the customers. It has a typical diner atmosphere so don't expect anything fancy. If you just want good food at reasonable prices for the amount you get, you won't go wrong here.

Looking for a small town diner style breakfast? You've found the spot. Waitress was friendly and welcoming, food was delivered hot. Highly recommend the chicken fried steak.

We dropped in with a softball team, parents, and coaches. The staff was efficient, hardworking, and appreciative, though being slightly overwhelmed. A huge thank you for your professionalism and service!

Stopped in on a day the grill was down but even without it I was impressed! Best chicken fried steak n eggs breakfast I've had. The service was great and the atmosphere grade A number one top notch American Cafe!!! Job well done all around!

It’s been a few years since I ate here, but I definitely wasn’t disappointed! I brought my dad for breakfast. Love this little home grown hole in the wall cafe. Friendly service for a typical price comparable to iHop. You can have breakfast and lunch/dinner options. They do close at 2, so be aware of that. Food was delicious! I’ll definitely be back sooner rather than later.

Stopped by for breakfast hoping to take my mom, who was visiting from Texas, out for a nice breakfast. That was a bust! Customer service was terrible! No greeting. No guidance as to where to sit. We sat ourselves. The waitress was rude and seemed annoyed at every request we made, which weren't many and were simple. We were kind to her (said please and thank you), yet she seemed annoyed, especially when my daughter spilled milk and we asked for a rag (I grabbed Napkins from the restroom and started cleaning it up). She did not offer to bring her another drink. Instead she only brought her water and we had to ask for another glass of milk. She also did not thank us when we left. Maybe it was a bad day - who knows! However, she only treated us that way and not the other white folks she was serving (we are Hispanic). Lastly, our check was placed on the table with absolutely nothing said to us. Again, this woman has absolutely no customer service skills and should not be serving tables. Food - mediocre at best. Hashbrowns were over cooked (too crispy), my egg omelet had a glob of cheese on top and was terrible, coffee was watered down. The French toast was also not good. A few positive notes - Food came rather quickly We were offered refills, albeit seemed forced and not genuine from the waitress. Also, I needed to change my baby so they offered me a booth to change him on when they saw me trying to change him in their tiny restroom with no changing table. I did appreciate that. Due to lack of customer service and mediocre food, I will not be returning. I will try the coffee shop across the street instead.

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with The Columbian Theatre, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Oz Winery. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

The Columbian Theatre, a historic building dating back to the 1893 World's Fair, is a vibrant center for art and theater in Wamego. Built in 1895 by businessman JC Rogers, it originally served as a musical hall inspired by the beauty of exhibits from the World's Fair Columbian Exposition. Today, it houses rare paintings from the exposition and hosts a variety of cultural events including drama, vaudeville, masque balls, community gatherings, and concerts.
The Columbian Theatre is an absolute treasure in Wamego! They put on amazing shows featuring local talent, offer workshops where kids can learn about theatre and perform, and have recently been bringing in live music acts—which I love! It’s also a fantastic event space, and their gallery showcases incredible work from local artists. One of the most unique aspects of the theatre is that it houses the last remaining artwork from the 1894 World’s Fair in Chicago, adding a rich historical touch to this vibrant arts hub. Whether you’re looking for top-notch entertainment, arts education, or a truly special venue, the Columbian Theatre is a must-visit. Highly recommend supporting this incredible community gem!

We went for a performance of Sister Act and really had a great time! The venue was accessible and my wheelchair fit into the spot removed on the end of the row we got tickets for. Rows A-F are all on the main floor of the theatre, and I had no trouble getting to my seat with my wife and parents. I picked out the seats online ahead of time, and staff were very helpful in responding to my inquiries about which spots to select for the performance.

Into the Woods was an amazing production! It was extremely well cast with high level singing and acting throughout.
Amanda B — Google review
This is an amazing historic theater. The show selection each year offers a diverse choice and the performers do their best to make each show an enjoyable night for everyone. There is an elevator, decent sized restrooms, refreshments and an art gallery. The gallery usually hosts an array of exhibits from area artists. The staff and volunteers are also fantastic.
Doug A — Google review
Everyone is always so nice and friendly. The productions are amazing! The only real problem is that all the lower seating is the same height and spacing so when you are 4'9" (my mama) and someone who is 6'2 or any height taller than her (pretty much everyone) it IS hard to see. I love the Columbian it is always clean and well maintained. The little concession area is quick to get your order and pay. If you have not seen a show here, you are missing out, tickets are reasonably priced and it's always a great day/night of entertainment!

The Columbian Theater. Beautifully houses a collection of restored six panels from the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exposition ( The Worlds Fair - Celebrating the 400 year Anniversary of Columbus. They are very large each about 10 x 17 tall. The history in this building is fabulous worth the trip.
Rene F — Google review
The Columbian Theater was a nice place to visit. It is not glamorous but could be decorated up for large events. It has beautiful artifacts that are treasures, for any museum would covet. It was a great tour and we look forward to our next visit. The stain glass window was a Grank Lloyd Wright design, the large Mirror on the Mezzanine is from the The Colombian Exposition 1893. Along with the six lady paintings with $2million

Yellow Brick Road

Museum
The Yellow Brick Road is a charming alleyway located across from the museum, offering a delightful photo opportunity. Adorned with beautiful murals depicting scenes from Frank Baum's works, this pathway connects the Oz museum with an Emerald City-themed playground and the Friendship House restaurant. While some visitors noted that the bricks may have lost some of their yellow hue over time, others found it to be a nostalgic reminder of the Wizard of Oz.
This charming little street is painted like the iconic Yellow Brick Road from The Wizard of Oz and it’s located just across from the Oz Museum. While the paint is fading a bit and could use some TLC, it’s still a whimsical stroll with colorful murals lining the way. The path leads to a small park, public restrooms, and a nearby restaurant. If you’re visiting the Oz Museum, this is a delightful spot to explore afterward!
R M — Google review
Nice little extension of the Oz Museum from across the street. It's definitely not worth driving to see it alone, but cute little shaded walkway to grab a photo and view the artwork. It's free and a great stop if you want to go on a little walk.
Melissa P — Google review
Free little pathway full of murals. Nice but it is very short and dirty. Needs to be repainted. It's barely yellow anymore and it's coated in bird poop and dirt.
Crandria 2 — Google review
Living in Kansas most of my life, this was my first time visiting this area. The path was cute and the murals are painted beautifully. I’m not sure if the bricks were more yellow in previous years but yes they have a hint of yellow to give you the nostalgia of Wizard of Oz yellow brick road ☺️
Patricia G — Google review
Nifty little attraction that connects the Oz museum across the road with the Emerald-City-themed playground in the city park. Lots of paintings depicting scenes and dialogue from Frank Baum's works. It also runs past the Friendship House restaurant if you're hungry.
Adam W — Google review
Great concept. The path was a little neglected. The murals on the pathway are well done. They could have taken this path much further and done alot more with it. If you come to see the museum worth seeing it. I would not drive out of my way just for the yellow brick road.
Sergeants S — Google review
Cute little pathway and attraction. Location could be closer to the actual Oz museum but i think it's still nice. It's a short walk that connects you to a restaurant and park. Worth the stop if you're in the area.

I liked this little path. Wish there were more murals and the vegetation was more maintained. The road leads directly to a playground with bathrooms though!

I'm always spoken to when entering the store. Usually end up having a lengthy conversation with the owners. I never leave empty handed. There's alot I'd like to buy but one or two pieces at a time.
Cathy C — Google review
There are a lot of great antique shops in Wamego but this is not one of them. We made it to the back of the store and then the owner told us that they didn’t allow strollers and we had to leave. This was not posted anywhere on their door or windows or we wouldn’t have entered. The two employees working there were unnecessarily rude. The clientele in the store were all probably 50-70 years old and I think the man working just wanted any excuse to kick out the 30 year olds that he assumed wouldn’t buy anything. Of note we had visited five or six other stores with no problems today. Take your business across the street to Audity Ally where the employees are happy to see you!

Located in Kansas, Oz Winery is a vibrant and welcoming attraction that has been producing table wines since 2007. The winery's annual production of five thousand gallons features grapes grown under the Kansas sun. Husband and wife team Brooke Balderson and Noah Wright are the creative minds behind the winery, with Brooke bringing her culinary expertise to their Private Wine Tasting Parties. Visitors can enjoy daily tastings of their diverse selection of wines, each creatively named after elements from the famous movie.
We visited oz winery after touring the oz museum. Lovely atmosphere, reasonable price, and local wines. Also, “Mary” made our time there so much better! She was very knowledgeable, passionate and wonderful. She provided us the details of the wine, history of the place and the Wamego town, fun stories, complimentary stuff, and etc. This will be a great stop by if you go see the museum or the town!

We enjoyed our visit to the Oz Winery. Flights of wine are moderately priced 3 x 2oz for $10 and 5 x 2oz for $15. Plus 2 free 1 oz samples. They have food items (cheese, salami, crackers, and chocolates) on site as well as jams and honey. Our server, Deb, was sweet and helpful.

We stopped by the OZ Museum and enjoyed a wine tasting experience. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they gave us a great explanation about Kansas wines. Thank you!
JAY H — Google review
We love this place. It’s always clean and the staff are always so friendly. Great wine tastings, packaged snacks (cheese, crackers, chocolates), and a comfortable space to relax. If we are driving through KS, we intentionally stop in Wamego to visit Oz Winery (even if the stop is just for 20 minutes to visit the winery) and we always leave with at least one or two bottles of wine. We’ll be back!
Alicia A — Google review
Had an Oz-some time at the winery yesterday! I loved the Oz theme and the wine was great. The wine and souvenirs were both reasonably priced and it was hard to choose! Sue and the other workers went above and beyond and made it a FANTASTIC. I will most definitely be back.

Very friendly man greeted us. Dog friendly if your dog can behave. Tried some wine. Bought some wine. It's very cool that it's Oz related. Stop in you won't regret it.
Kimberly T — Google review
We had a great visit with Sue, and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Loved the selection of wines. Being only about an hour away, we definitely have added another stop on our travels.
Joe B — Google review
The place is perfect going of a theme of the wizard of OZ all there bottles have a unique name/label based of it like Squished Witch. They are all different types of table wines not aged they all still have a unique delicious taste. They have a free limited tasting perfect for me as we came into town as a day trip. Seems like it would also be a fun place to just sit and have a glass with maybe some of there artisan cheese or chocolate. Bottle prices are reasonable with the quality of the blend and the creative oz theme. If I’m ever back in town will be back though definitely at some point will order online from this local small business.

Fast food restaurant
SONIC Drive-In is a classic fast-food chain with a nostalgic drive-in experience. With over 3,500 locations, 95% of which are locally owned, it serves about 3 million customers daily. The menu features specialty items like sandwiches on Texas Toast, footlong chili cheese hot dogs, onion rings, and tater tots. The SONIC App allows for contactless ordering and payment with exclusive deals.
The lady that took my order was the rudest person I have had to deal with in a LONG time at a food establishment. If you can’t remove tomato’s and add mustard instead of ketchup and mayo you’re in the wrong line of work. I wouldn’t stop there again if someone gave me a million dollars. Do better sonic!
Mona P — Google review
Paid about $10 for the burrito meal to get a burrito half the size of my husbands hand with hardly anything in it. It’s supposed to be the “All Meat” and is pretty much just egg.
Lexie L — Google review
Usually have good experience with sonic. The Wamego exit location in Kansas is consistently awful! I waited over 5 minutes to be acknowledged let alone waited on. The girl who finally took my order showed zero interest in doing so. I got SEVEN tater tots and the were burned! Grrr
Angie M — Google review
I ordered 4 chicken sandwiches today. I was putting my vehicle in the shop so I wasn't going to be able to get out and go to the grocery shop. I figured it's one day. I'll go pick up lunch out for the family. But I got home and every one of the chicken sandwiches I ordered has a damn tomato on it. If I eat that I'm going straight into an ambulance. I almost bit into one, but I stopped. I saw a tiny piece of tomato hanging out. I checked and the others have it too.
Ashley M — Google review
None of the screens worked on the menu boards so they had to take the card or cash back in to make the payment. We decided to pay with cash and paid $3.41 over the bill. The runner brought our food out and asked if we want to change. I told him I did and then he asked me if I wanted the 41 cents. I told him to go ahead and keep it, but he should have never asked in the first place. He should have just given The change back and let me decide if I wanted to leave a tip or not, which I wouldn't have done to begin with because that is pretty much their job which is to bring the food out to the car. My wife's bun on her burger was hard and the French fries were overcooked and looked like they had been sitting in the heat lamp for quite a while. Now I know why this place has so few stars for reviews.
Derek J — Google review
Only gets 2 stars because drinks are great and the few staff you do have are nice. Half the stalls are broken with no sign on them. Wait time is ridiculous because there is barely anyone working here. Wamego sonic do better
Sarah M — Google review
Would have been great had we even been able to get food. Sat at the place for 20 minutes and nothing. Saw a girl on her phone and many of us just left in frustration.
MT — Google review
I spent $27 on a coney dog combo & garlic burger, the kid called me boss gave me a weird feeling. Got home & took a bite of the burger the 2nd bite I pulled a hair out of my mouth, it sure looked like a pubic hair. My wife is feeling nauseous from the coney dog & greasy old onion rings. We threw the $27 meal in the trash. I'll never again give this sonics a chance with my hard earned $!!! Hello CORPORATE SONICS DO YOU HEAR ME!

This bowling alley is fantastic! The staff are always welcoming and friendly, and the pricing is excellent. One suggestion for improvement would be expanding the music selection—especially since you get to pay for and pick your own songs. Overall, it's a great spot for a fun time!! ✨

Reserved 2 lanes for my daughter's birthday. Got there at the time of my reservation and had to wait 30 min for them to figure out where they could put my reserved party. We then had to wait 30 min for our pizza that came with our party package they offer. We ordered an extra pizza that didn't come with the package at the same time we arrived and an hour went by before it was brought out to us. So half the kids got to watch while kids ate the first pizza. And the kids working had the audacity to give us attitude like we were the ones who have no clue what we are doing. I don't recommend this place at all. $17 soggy cold pizza. This was my first time being to this place. I'll probably never go again by choice.

We stopped in by accident.... we had to have some emergency automotive work done due to a breakdown while coming through town. We figured as long as we were stuck for a few hours, we would walk around town. Our first stop was the Bowling Alley, we didn't plan on staying, but our kids saw the arcade games and we ended up staying for 3 hours while they played games and won some prizes. I can't speak for the rest of the place because we didnt bowl, but the kiddos had a great time.

Every time i turn around this guy gets something then sells it, then gets something else for this place then changes it. He had the business next door, then he sold it. Had a golf simulator, then he sold it. Just when you get used to what he has, he sells it or changes it. Or he sets his hours, then changes them. He's open, then he's closed. No consistency with this place. Was 4 stars, then 3, now 2.

I went their yesterday as a tourist, with my oldest daughter and her 8 yr old son who is autistic plu my 23 yr old daughter was with us she is on the spectrum as well. She was going to jump off the diving board, so I went to go watch her and swam in this circle part area only to hear a 13 or so yr old boy talk about her. And I called him out then his group of friends joined in and they told the manager I harassing them and to get told by the manager that they said I was lying about what they said. This staff has no care about special needs kids. I certainly hope the schools their do not treat special needs kids like that

On the first day of swim lessons I noticed one of the life guards helping with long blond hair was not being that nice to my kids and paying more attention to the younger kids, I brushed it off as just she was more focused on the younger kids because they needed her attention more then my two kids did. We unfortunately had to miss the second and third day but we took them the fourt day. In group A there where only 2 kids plus our two. They began the lessons and my oldest was doing what he was told but got a little close to the one life guard who likes to keep her hair down and she yelled at him "don't splash me I don't want to get my hair wet" the fact I was sitting down at the chairs and heard her yelling that clearly was uncalled for to yell at any child like that. Later on in the lessons after they used some floating devices to teach the kids how to kick their legs in the water our oldest son was still using it yes but he was bring it back to her. He got off it when he got closer to her and tried to nicely hand it to her but she yanked it out of his hand. She proceeded to ignore both my kids the rest of the time even walking away when they tried to talk to her or ask her a question. The male life guard in group A was amazing! He helped our kids when the one that had her hair down wouldn't and he stayed with our kids to make sure they where understand what they needed to do. The girl that had her hair up was nice to and she helped our kids also and talked to them but the one with her hair down honestly does not need to be teaching kids how to swim if she going to be so rude and cold towards a child who did nothing wrong to her. We decided because of her attitude and the way she treated our kids especially our oldest we will not be finishing the swimming lessons and just excepted the fact we spent $80 for nothing. I would not recommend anyone with a special needs child to sing their kids up for the swim lessons at the wamego pool because if there was one person who treated our autistic child that poorly I'm sure there are others that work there who would too.

Love the indoor pool that is open year round. The water is warm, and the heat in the building makes it very comfortable even when it’s cold outside.

That day when you were in the outdoor pool you got all burnt and so we went to the indoor pool and it was fabulous

Wanted to go swimming without renting a room...came to Wamego for the indoor pool. Had a great time. Day was nice so spent some time at the adjacent park too.

Very professional and caring lifeguards. They are attentive and take their job seriously. I am 61 and have limited mobility. I felt very safe and cared for. The water was the perfect temperature and so soothing. Thank you so much!

History Museums
The Wamego Historical Museum is a fascinating complex of historical buildings, including the 1870s Schonhoff Dutch Mill and the Prairie Town Village in Wamego's city park. The museum showcases local relics, historical items, and exhibits such as the first Wamego switchboard and a crosscut section of the famous Louis Vieux Elm. Visitors can explore replicas of early city hall rooms and pioneer-era settings like a schoolroom or 19th-century parlor.
The staff was so friendly and told us a lot about the items in the main room. One of the volunteers opened all of the display building on site so we could see them (school house, store, cabin, etc).

A neat time capsule. Takes about 30 minutes to get through. Don’t forget to check out the outside exhibits.

A lovely small-town museum that's part of a charming city park. We received wonderful service and information from the staff/volunteers today. The museum and the park are worth a visit!

i really love the history of my adopted hometown & this museum has an amazing collection of local relics, historical pieces, & a very friendly & knowledgeable staff. with it being located in city park, it's definitely an easy & worthwhile visit - you'll definitely learn some cool stuff & perhaps appreciate the town/area just a little bit more. definitely recommend!

Great museum with interesting artifacts a Dutch windmill and several other buildings like a general store jail log cabin and school house. The windmill is very unique and interesting

A wonderful small town history museum, with loads of exhibits about the city's history since its pioneer days. They even managed to set up some exhibits as actual rooms (such as a schoolroom or a 19th century parlor).

Wamego Area Veterans Memorial

Memorial park
The Wamego Area Veterans Memorial is a poignant tribute honoring the brave men and women who served in various conflicts, including World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and more recent operations like Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. This relatively new memorial serves as a serene space for reflection on the sacrifices made by local veterans. Nestled within Wamego City Park, it features an updated list of names that pay homage to those who have fought for our freedoms.

Fairly new war memorial - sort of proud to admit I "created" it on Google Maps a few years ago. I visited on election night November 8, 2022. Seemed fitting given the occasion. I had forgotten how up to date it was - goes right up to Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

Rather interesting memorial, listing the local area veterans that have served since World War II, including the recent Middle East operations. Seems like a (mostly) quiet, peaceful spot.

Fast food restaurant
Kreem Kup Restaurant is a classic dining spot in Wamego, KS that offers affordable and delicious meals. The restaurant has a nostalgic ambiance, making it feel like a step back in time. Customers can enjoy combo meals for under $8.50, which is quite rare during these times. The menu features options like double hamburgers with all the fixings and sides like French fries or onion rings without any extra charges.
It's funny, I can't remember if I reviewed the Kreem Kup before... oh well, let's dive in! I enjoyed my visit today. I purchased a combo meal for under $8.50... THAT'S UNHEARD OF during these recessed times! Most meals will be $12+, and that is insane! My double hamburger, cheese, with the works was SUPER tasty. The side is usually French fries, but if you want to swap with onion rings, other places charge extra. But to my delight, they didn't charge me! So the onion rings were excellent, and it also came with an 8oz soft drink. I even got my food super fast and hot! Needless to say, I'm going back when I drive out to Wamego again. (Next time, I'll get some mouth-watering pics.)

I’d love to leave a better review for a longstanding local place, but our latest experience here was very poor. The kids chicken nugget meals (only 3 nuggets) were overdone. Curly fries were just a bag of short greasy shards, nothing like nice curls. My Reuben was greasy and very lacking in corned beef. We waited more than 20 minutes for our food even though it was just 6 and not yet busy at all. We ordered ice cream at the end and were given our sundae reasonably quickly but we didn’t get the small cone for 15 more minutes, and while we were patiently waiting at the counter the staff proceeded to take more orders, wander back and forth between the kitchen and front counter aimlessly, and just generally look overwhelmed. I feel bad for them but I can’t say it was anything like good service.

Been years possibly a decade or more since I last ate here. All I can say is it was just as delicious as I ever remember and I had fantastic burger experience and the fries where just as delightful highly recommend.

I really don’t like to leave negative reviews, especially to local restaurants but my experience here was awful. I live locally but typically don’t come here. I decided to give it a try tonight though. I put my order in at 7:21 pm and then proceeded to wait 20 minutes in the drive thru to get my food. There was only one car in front of me and the parking lot only had a couple of cars. When I finally got to the window, the person at the window told me the wrong amount, which I caught and corrected. They did apologize though. When the food was brought to the window, luckily I noticed that they hadn’t brought my drink yet so I waited for that, which they did bring eventually. I ordered a simple sandwich and only asked for no tomatoes. When I got home, sure enough, there were tomatoes on my sandwich. The fries were incredibly bland. The soda had a giant chunk of ice in it to the point where I couldn’t put my straw in to the drink all the way. Finally, the soda I got was very flat. Overall, the food was not good, the wait was horrible for a drive thru, and they didn’t get my order correct. The only redeeming factor was that the people I interacted with were polite. Like I said at the beginning of this, I don’t really ever go here and I highly doubt I will return any time soon.

Great old-fashioned soft serve ice cream, Burgers and sandwiches!

Cool hole in the wall fast food joint focusing on burgers and ice cream. Decent selection of others menu items like sandwiches and made to order fried chicken. The place is clean and the employees seem friendly
Joe D — Google review
Friendly service, calm and quiet environment and the food is delicious. The experience reminded me of old-school burger joints before all the corporate fast food.

Bathrooms were clean. Food was fresh. The two employees working were so pleasant and told us to be safe upon leaving because of the weather.

there was a dude named Anthony there yesterday and there was 2 people in front of me, he took 20 minutes to make 1 sandwich. I left after he started the second one because I wasn't about to wait another 20 minutes. he also didn't know any of the answers that the lady in front of me was asking.
Rizz M — Google review
Extremely impolite employee named Jess. Rude for no reason, we were patient and kind to her and only got sighs and horrible attitude. Will not be coming back to this subway! Please do better.

Typical Wally World. Decent prices, hasmost of what I went in for, and had three of the more than fifteen checkout isles staffed and open, with several customers in each one of them standing and waiting!

We eat here often after church and I have to say, the Sunday crew are very pleasant and engaging. Food is prepared well and the two young ladies seem to care.

The lady by the name of Alexium was rude and terrible. Put stuff on my food that went on my toasted sandwich I didn't want. I asked her for what I wanted kindly and she replied im getting to that. Then proceeded to make what was not my actual asked order.

Excellent place to stop and eat something.

Absolutely aweful service. Been there a couple times and everytime they're rude and slow. Won't acknowledge you till they have to make your sandwich. We went there tonight since it's been a while. There wasn't a single person around the first 5 minutes. Finally a lady with a blue and purple tatoo on her arm came out and was just rude. Being aggressive with everything. Slamming things around and just all around unprofessional. She apologized for her domenor. That it's been a night. But continued with her attitude. We asked a few simple questions cause she said she was out of stuff and count prep anything that late so we didn't know our options. I understand having a bad day, I've been a pizza make for 8 years. Customer service is very important. You don't know what someone else is going through. You don't take out your bad day on someone who had nothing to do with it and could also be having a hard time and wanted food to feel a little better just to be treated like an inconvenience on YOUR JOB! What you get paid to do.
