Mexican restaurant
Rojo Marrón Mexican Restaurant & Cafe in Hinton, Alberta offers a diverse culinary experience with rich and vibrant flavors of Mexican cuisine. The restaurant stands out by providing halal options, catering to those with specific dietary preferences. Tucked away in a plaza off the main strip, the dark exterior gives way to a cool Mexican-style decor inside. The menu boasts an array of options, including street tacos served with pineapple and elote street corn that's boiled before being generously seasoned.
Absolutely loved my experience at this Mexican restaurant! The tacos were bursting with flavor and perfectly seasoned, while the enchiladas were rich, cheesy, and incredibly satisfying. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was friendly and prompt. Definitely a spot I’ll be returning to!

After learning about this joint through social media, I made sure to break off our road trip to hit it up and so glad we did! Will bet anything that it’s the best Mexican restaurant in Hinton! Was fortunate enough to chat with the owner(Sok) and team member Jorge to learn about this restaurant and its true Mexican origins. Although some of the menu items are a little bit westernized, the flavours of all their dishes and homemade salsas are as authentic as possible with the limited access they have to their native spices and ingredients. The food was delicious, the restaurant had a very cool Mexican lounge feel to it and the service was spectacular, welcoming and friendly! We will definitely stop in whenever we head out west to try other menu items! I wish I could buy bottles of their homemade garlic-jalapeno sauce…on point!!!
Phat B — Google review
The restaurant itself is clean and nice. The food was NOT authentic Mexican food! The food was cold! You could tell it was premade food. It honestly looked like precooked chicken, pre shredded cheese, pickled onions from a jar of a shelf. The salsa and chips, salsa looked and tasted like it was dumped out of a jar. The side of rice was Very bland and tasted like Uncle Ben's rice. Disappointed, as I've had some great Mexican foods at these type of little places. This place, was not.
Shar V — Google review
I visited recently with my Family. The food was absolutely amazing and truley Authentic Mexican. The menu is very broad with tons of choices. The server was gracious and the staff was friendly and pleasant. We are looking forward to going back to try more mouthwatering dishes. specially when you have jasper/Banff national park visit its very convenient to stop by for lunch or dinner. 🍲

11 of us wanted Mexican food coming g from a day of paddleboarding and hiking ..found this amazing little gem. They had no problem accommodating are large group, Great service and great food….even bought a few sauces.
Monique B — Google review
Ordered the baked chicken enchiladas with horchata and a few jarritos. The meal came with rice and beans. The chicken was alright, and overall the meal was okay. Definitely tasted like an average Mexican take-out meal. Also, the horchata was a little watery.
Andres D — Google review
The veggie enchiladas at Rojo Marrón were amazing—so good I started eating before I remembered to take a photo! For anyone particular about dairy-free cheese, they use Violife. Lots of great vegan options!

Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre

Recreation center
Located in the picturesque city of Hinton, Alberta, the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre offers a range of exciting activities for visitors. Surrounded by stunning ranches and nestled amidst the Rockies, this center provides opportunities for camping by the lakeside and stargazing under the country sky. The facility boasts a well-maintained pool area with friendly staff and clean change rooms.
Rating the pool ONLY. Went there mid August 2023. A great place to swim, friendly staff and clean change rooms. The kids pool is a blast for those who don’t like deep water, hot tub pretty big and main pool lots to do with climbing wall, swing rope and big size floaties. Only thing missing was a slide! $2 public swim on Sat and Sun is nice, though it’s weird how the hours are 1-2 then 230-345, not sure why they shut the pool down for 30 mins 🤷‍♂️.
James H — Google review
It's ok, but it's definitely dated. Skating arenas seem great, but pool is pretty lousy. No family change rooms, so coming with kids isn't that great experience. One has to compare with neighboring grande cache. And in that comparison this place is quite disappointing.
Petr K — Google review
Giving this place one star is probably a stretch dated isn’t a word I would use for this grandfathered facility brought my nine and 12 year-old and to say they were bored would be an understatement the lifeguards kept turning into the hot tub on which made it nasty completely filled with bubbles and chlorine smelling there was three senior swimming in the swimming pool and they had the whole thing shut down for an hour and a half for Lane swimming this pool is honestly not worth your time unless you’re a senior citizen in which case you could probably find a good doily there
Andylast83 — Google review
Good place. Cheap showers. Mill across the street is stinky and I need to mouth breathe sometimes.
Ig T — Google review
It's a nice pool, but the hours on the weekend for public swim are kinda goofy and when you call to ask about them you may not get the correct information from the people working there. Also you need your own lock for the lockers.
Matthew G — Google review
Nice arena. Clean and we'll kept. Locker rooms are a decent size. Spectator area is okay, but pretty cold at times. Sufficient parking available. There's a concession on site. Lots to do, here.

"The Old Grind" is a charming café located between Jasper and Edmonton, offering classic coffee drinks, sandwiches, and other cafe delicacies in a cozy rustic setting. The establishment also features a small retail shop with local artwork for sale. Visitors can enjoy fast Wi-Fi and ample seating space, making it an ideal stop for road-trippers or those homeschooling on the go. The friendly staff, delicious food, and clean facilities make it a popular choice for travelers seeking a break from the road.
Lovely little cafe just off the highway. First time visiting but won't be our last! We were driving through and I wasn't feeling like fast food. I had a wrap and hubby had a bunwich - both delicious. And the iced maple latte... 👌🏼 So happy to have found this little gem.
Lisa S — Google review
Went for breakfast! Ordered the "Make your own sandwich," the Denver sandwich, and 2 iced coldbrew coffees. The food was great, but the Denver was a little bit of a letdown. The bread was soggy and didn't taste that great. The coffee were good, they have a station to add your own cream and flavoring. The staff was very nice, and the cafe itself was cozy and a lovely place! The only big complaint I would have was paying 40$ for 2 breakfast sandwiches and 2 coffees. Honestly its over priced. Because of that, I would give it a 3.8/5.
Jordyn K — Google review
The food was very tasty!!! We ordered a grilled sandwich and crab salad bagel--- we regretted so much that we didnt do a takeout for our trip afterwards. Super friendly staff and services. I love the baja fog so much!!
Hsin-Yu C — Google review
Very cute café with amazing decor and the seating arrangements were good. The coffee was good. We had bagel and cream cheese. We ask them to give cream cheese on the side. They messed up a little bit but Beagle was small, but it looked healthy and overall, the experience was good. They also had many other options of cookies and other bakery, which looked really healthy and delicious. We didn’t try it but overall, it was a good experience. They can improve in their service a little bit, but I would suggest to stop by and enjoy their coffee and some goodies. They looked good. also had a mushroom cream of mushroom soup. It was OK tested a bit bitter but when I added the black paper, it tested OK..
Pu G — Google review
Avoid this place if you are vegan. Omg, never had such a poorly made coffee or food. Coffee was so light in flavor, it looked like hot milk. The vegan wrap was falling apart. Full waste of money. Probably it’s an okay place for non-vegan food.

Awesome food stop. Cafe feel with all day breakfast, smoothies, salads 🥗 and sandwiches 🥪 and soup 🍜 Music 🎵 is too loud, and a bit pricey… Art for sale too… Thank you from your Arizona friends 😎😇🙏
Joseph R — Google review
My friend and I stopped here after a long day of driving with about 4 more hours of driving to go. She had the pulled pork panini, insisting I try a bite. Omg. We talked about that sandwich for the next 200 miles. My quiche was good, too, but I woke up this morning thinking about that panini. (Not joking.) Also had friendly service and they support local artists with a large variety of artwork for sale - many styles and mediums. Just a few minutes from the main road, so easy to hop off and hop back on the highway, but it had a small-town square feel.
Lisa C — Google review
Such a cute little gem in Hinton! The staff were super helpful and friendly. They helped an unprepared Bachelorette party pick our breakfast items and didn't make us feel rushed despite the line behind us. Our food and drinks came out super quickly to our table, and they were delicious. I love the atmosphere and selection of items from local artists displayed for sale. Thank you!

Beaver Boardwalk is a wooden pathway that offers an immersive experience in the natural beauty of Hinton. It was constructed to celebrate the town's 50th anniversary and provides an up-close encounter with various wildlife, including beavers, amphibians, and waterfowl. The boardwalk winds along Happy Creek and through Hinton's renowned trail network, offering picturesque views of Maxwell Lake.
Visited June 2024. Went twice, not a lot of wildlife when we first went at 4 pm but plenty of beaver action when we came back again at dusk. They didn't seem phased by human presence at all, they just go about their business. Absolutely gorgeous.
Floyd B — Google review
Was recommended by jasper national park staff for us to come here for a walk. Didn’t manage to see any beaver but saw the damn build by them. Quite an interesting site and nice place to walk about.
Jiawen Y — Google review
Nice eat walk around some beautiful scenery. Some sections have been taken back by nature, but it is well maintained. It was very hot when we went, 33 degrees, so we didn't see any wildlife, but there was lots of evidence of them around!
Caryl L — Google review
A wonderful place to have a wander on an evening. We saw plenty of wildlife (including beavers!) and it was very peaceful. It says that it’s wheelchair ♿️ accessible and in theory it is as it’s flat. But in places the walk is tilted and I certainly would have ended up in the water if I’d gone in my chair across some parts. Use in a wheelchair at your own risk.
Samantha L — Google review
Beautiful nature and rehabilitation scenery with a wonderful boardwalk surrounding a beaver lodge. Visit during sunrise or sunsets for the best chance at capturing a glimpse of these busy workers. People there are friendly and respectful nature lovers. A great place for a silent escape to bring family to view such an amazing natural habitat if you're ever visiting the area. Bikes (unmotorized) are also permitted.
Jonas W — Google review
Went here to go hiking with some people who needed an entry level experience and it did not disappoint! Super easy to get around, but still beautiful! I love that there are options to help people with mobility issues experience hiking in the rockies!
Gabe — Google review
A nice network of trails around the wetlands. The boardwalks made the walking easier, even on a rainy day. There were lots of birds and small animals sharing the area. There were a number of sections closed off while we were there, it looked like some repairs were needed, but this was the end of the season so that's understandable. If you're staying near Hinton this is a trail well worth visiting. You can spend either an hour or several hours and cover everything. It's perfect for an evening stroll.
Christopher H — Google review
Beaver board walk has many kilometers of Boardwalk around the park plus much more dirt/gravel paths. Around the board walk learn about beaver habitat, damming, daily life and other wildlife too. Plus good information about first and deciduous trees and plants in the area. Note: some areas of the boardwalk may be closed due to restoration efforts. Its not surprising the beavers have "nibbled" their way through some of the boardwalk posts.

Public golf course
The Hinton Golf Club offers a complete golfing experience with 18 holes, a driving range, practice greens, a golf shop, and clubhouse. Set amidst stunning mountain views, this club provides a picturesque backdrop for your game. The course is well-maintained and features excellent tee boxes and greens. The friendly staff goes above and beyond to ensure your visit is enjoyable and accommodating. Modern carts equipped with touch screen GPS add convenience to your round.
We golfed here (with a toddler) at the end of September and enjoyed every minute of it. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking in the fall, the course was very well maintained and the staff were very friendly. Overall, amazing value for the price and we'll definitely be back. The only thing I would recommend is add more craft beer to the beer cart especially because Folding Mountain Brewing is only minutes away.
Natalia T — Google review
Nice little golf course that's easy to access and has all the amenities. Not the best maintained and not as many viewpoints as the best when compared to Kananaskis.
Victor W — Google review
I really enjoyed playing here. We were out to Jasper to play there and figured we would try it on the trip back. We'll worth it. They have a great special starting in September as well. Course is very fun to play and some good views. Nice proshop with lots of good branded items. Only issue I had was the bunkers were basically all rocks or under repair. But just don't hit it in them and it won't affect you.
Curtis W — Google review
Had the pleasure of golfing at the Hinton Golf Club this summer for a company golf tournament. Was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the course itself and the facilities on site. It’s a nice course to golf, from beginner-pro! Which makes Hinton Golf Club a great place to host events! All 18 holes are private but still spacious not crowded or condensed. There is room to challenge yourself but also the forgiveness in the course that inexperienced golfers can still enjoy their round. Tee boxes, fairways and the greens were all in excellent condition. I will definitely book again and this time bring the whole family. While browsing their website I also noticed that they have a great youth membership price. Nice to see courses encourage and make golf accessible to the younger generation.

I must express my admiration for the excellent food and service at Fortune House Chinese Restaurant. Having worked in various trades and encountered many subpar establishments, I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional staff here. Despite a minor mishap with a takeout order, which can be expected during busy times when construction workers finish their shifts, they promptly and without any negative attitude made things right. This level of customer care is truly refreshing compared to most places I've been to.
We ordered the Super Special for 4 to go. This is some of the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. This deal fed 3 adults an awesome dinner last night. We just pulled out the leftovers and enjoyed a second round. We're stuffed and happy. I highly recommend this restaurant. The photo is today's plate.

Phenomenal, fresh, delicious Chinese cuisine. The best buffet in town, for sure! Don't skip the wonton soup and chicken chow mein - the best I've ever had! Thanks, Fortune House for creating an unforgettable atmosphere, and a delicious meal night for me and my friends!

The buffet don't appeal to me. Order from menu. The prawn with vegetable is good.

Average tasting food. The best thing we ordered was probably the spring rolls. The rice was very bland and the noodles were below average. They seem to be quite popular, so it was a disappointing experience for us. Service was good. But that was about it.

Good value on food for the price. Especially the Combo for 1 options. Check the menu. Portions are pretty good for the to go options but stay is you get big full plate, so I'd recommend ordering to stay if your really hungry.

Im from the maritimes and the jumbo donair is despicable. Im skinny enough to turn sideways and vanish but I could eat 3 jumbo donairs maybe a 4th. No one in the restaurant and took 25 minutes to prepare. The bread or naan or wrap was tough. The place smelled like feet. Don't go. Stay clear. Youre welcome.

Donair tasted ok, they didn't have tomato, donair had very little meat and vegetables, all around for $17 with a pop for very little food, I say it's a total rip off! Not that great of a donair for the price! After eating a jumbo, IM STILL HUNGRY! Smallest donair I've ever had, least amount of fillings.

Fast food restaurant
McDonald’s is a well-known fast-food chain that has been serving its classic burgers, fries, and shakes for many years. Located near Parks West Mall just off Hwy 16, this McDonald's offers friendly service and quick meals. While some customers have experienced minor issues with their orders, others have praised the fresh-tasting food and friendly staff. Overall, visitors to this McDonald's in Canada have had a lovely experience with great-tasting food and excellent service.
Best decorated McDonalds ever! I love their tribute to spring! Bravo to the staff who made such a pretty display...you made me super McHappy!

It's McDonald's, they are all pretty well the same. I'm writing a review because we were on a long 10 hour drive and behind the drive through of THIS McDonald's is a lovely park and nature trail! My 5 year old had a blast running laps on the paved trail
Stephanie G — Google review
The place is crawling with flies. The tables are also very dirty and the service is so bad. The person making the food didn’t give us a straw, didn’t give us the Oreo McFlurry we payed for and when we went up to get it fixed they made it wrong the first time. Also when we ordered food on the machine we didn’t get a receipt. This McDonald’s is genuinely so bad I don’t even want to eat my meal anymore because of the flies. There is like 1000 flies. In the picture there is only four in the picture, they were flying around so it was hard to take a picture. Washroom is also insanely disgusting.
Deng R — Google review
I understand that making an order near 10pm isn’t the greatest… however, this McDonald’s is a 24/7 operation. I went inside and used the computer ordering system, I chose a strawberry milkshake as the drink but was given a strawberry banana smoothie… not sure how that happens? I did not request no cheese on both quarter pounders that I ordered yet both were labeled as “no cheese”. McDonald’s is becoming less and less preferable even when in a time pinch due to the lack of care and service. I live 2 hours from this particular store and decided to stop in before making the drive and unfortunately was met with this disappointing order. Getting very tired of how this franchise is being destroyed. Computer error, human error… it’s deplorable.
Maia K — Google review
Waited 10 minutes to get a burger with ever 7 pickles stacked in the middle. Then a poutine with a single c… shot of gravy in the middle…
Kevin S — Google review
Used a coupon for 2 burgers for 10$ they had the top burger in the bag made normally the bottom one had no cheese on-top the quarter pounder and half slice only on the bottom…had many horrible experiences here ! After doing many road trips across Canada, Hinton has the worst people in Canada hands down !
Travis N — Google review
Don't answer their phones, not open 24hrs .. I've tried over a dozen times, in the 18days I've been in town, to contact them over phone, and as well use the drive through after work. No answer, and pylons closing the drive-thru. Every single time
Mark G — Google review
Used to work here so people are great!! My issue is they messed up my order. Chicken bacon wrap Extra lettuce Extra cheese Add sweet chili Add pickles No cucumber I got home and ready to eat and when I took a bite of my wrap there wasn't any chicken or pickles. I dont care about forgotten pickles, I care about the forgotten chicken in a chicken bacon wrap. I don't understand how one can make such a mistake and im aware my order can be complicated so I will repeat myself and confirm with the person taking my order so no mistakes happen and I did the same and still no chicken. Last time I ordered at McDonald's I ordered a 3-3 earl Grey and got a 2-2 coffee instead, and I was working there at the time of this mistake as well. I'm severely disappointed, I might just stop going if it happens again

The "Rancher," their version of a schooner, is competitively priced and offers great value with an Original 16 beer for $11.99. Colleen, our waitress, was both friendly and professional. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through Hinton.
I Love this place. What a Great Sports Bar Atmosphere. We walked in with 14 people and the staff was immediately able to accommodate us. I love that they have large Tankard Sized Beers (Of 3 different steakhouses /Pubs in Hinton Ranchers was the only one with these superior sized Beers!) I'm a huge fan of Fish and Chips And I was Very Pleased with my order. To the point I almost should have requested a 2nd Fish. Several of our Party had the Ranchers Burger (the huge monster burger in the photos) and they were taken aback by it's size and they had nothing but positive things to say about it. We loved Ranchers so much we visited twice in 3 days during our week in Hinton. Thank you Staff for a Great Service, Great Food and an overall great dining experience.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and it was recommended to us to eat here. We were there at supper time, not too busy. Very clean. We each got a different burger. Great portions for the price. We all enjoyed the taste and the burgers were so thick! Definitely recommend.

Welcoming spot just as you approach Hinton...great breakfast deal...select 6 items from the menu for $12.99 which also includes toast, hash browns and a side of fruit. Can't go away hungry ever...fyi: big brunch on Sunday for 25 bucks!

We came through on a vacation recently and this place was awesome. Service was really good and it has a unique atmosphere with a metal roof? Odd but kind of cool, trades people will get me. We each had a different burger, I had a chicken with bacon, kid had a fancy bacon, mushroom something and my wife had a classic bacon cheeseburger and they were all awesome. Fries were really good too, air fried or something. Even my kids grilled cheese kids meal was on garlic toast instead of bread. Little things make this a huge hit.

Stayed at a nearby hotel and was recommended this restaurant. Service was quick and friendly staff. Food was excellent. Had the ribs with baked potato, side veggies and salad. Everything came out hot and fresh. Large portions. Would definitely recommend.

Our group of 7 was travelling through and decided to dine at Ranchers. The food and atmosphere was top notch but what made the experience 5 star was our waitress Rob. She really made our night. From bringing out samples for us to try to her quick wit and humour. We laughed so much.. sorry other patrons! Highly recommend eating at Ranchers. Good food, lots of choice...and bonus if Rob is your server!

Amazing food. Had the phily cheese steak poutine, bacon cheese burger and an order of hot wings and was very satisfied with it all! Juicy wings, tender steak, huge portions. Will be coming back

Great place to eat. We have gone to other places, that have a full course meal but they are few and far between. Good price for everything and Great portions. We had the steaks and got a side of perogies and took a gluten free pizza home. A great experience.

Day 2

Keep it simple

William A. Switzer Provincial Park is a picturesque campground set amidst the pine forest and Rocky Mountain vistas in Alberta. The park offers numerous opportunities to admire the mountains as you hike along its many trails or partake in winter sports. There are seven private campsites at Graveyard Lake that remain open all year round with no services available. The scenic Kelley's bathtub is a must-see attraction in the area, offering stunning views of its surroundings.
Great 1 km trail around Kelly's Bathtub that can be continued to a longer trail around the attached kettle lake structure Jarvis Lake. Easy and virtually all flat, the view is brilliant and concludes with a small beach area right below the Visitor Centre. Great place for family and pets. Visit at sunrise or sunset for a chance to capture rising fog and a magnificent view of the shadowed mountain range behind the two connected lakes.
Jonas W — Google review
The scenery was amazing. A good place for nature lovers. Best time for pictures would either be sunrise or sunset.
Janine R — Google review
Kelly's Bathtub is a superb hike. Nice easy, well groomed trail for all types of walkers and hikers. The ranger there at the visitor center was so helpful and knowledgeable. She told us a lot we didn't know about bear behavior. Not that we would see any on the day we were there, but just for future reference. Nice scenic drive to the park as well.
Bob B — Google review
A beautiful and quiet park with very well maintained facilities and roadways. The only place we found for shore fishing was the stocked trout pond, but people with boats have many opportunities to fish for lake whitefish or yellow perch. The trails range from relaxed strolls to arduous day hikes, so there's something for everyone. Even the easiest trails provide great views of scenery, wildlife, and a great diversity of wildflowers. There is a lot of bear activity in the area, so be cautious.
Bethany — Google review
One of my favorite places to take the family. The dogs love it and there is plenty for everyone to enjoy. The beach, the short trail or the longer trail, fire pits and picnic tables...perfect spot for all season activities!
Kalyan J — Google review
We love coming here because it is so beautiful. Very quiet off season since the information center is closed then. The visitor center is a must see in summer and the staff is friendly!
Trudy G — Google review
Such a beautiful place. Wow. Really glad we stopped here. Stunning water and mountain views. Dogs loved being in the water and all the sights and smells. Great infographics located along the trail.
Janelle M — Google review
The more quaint yet perhaps even more ruggedly beautiful version of Banff/Jasper! It gets much colder here than in the South, but fear not, as with the colder temperatures comes fewer tourists and much more private campsites. If you can brave the cold, this national park will blow you away, and absolutely deserves a visit!

Nestled in the heart of Alberta, the Hinton Nordic Centre is a true haven for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly those who love cross-country skiing. With an extensive network of trails catering to all skill levels—from beginners to seasoned pros—this destination promises something for everyone. The well-groomed paths are complemented by a charming warming hut that serves as a cozy retreat after an exhilarating day on the snow.
This is a great family place close to town; it doesn’t matter the season, everyone will enjoy. I usually went for hiking during spring and summer. But this year we started to learn about cross country skiing and it gave us a total different perspective. Lot’s of fun we had with the skiing and the sledding; this is definitely a place worth the visit.
Franklin V — Google review
That hike to the lookout is not easy. That said, it's worth it. Easily done in under an hour with time to soak in the view from the top.
Bryan — Google review
The Hinton Nordic Centre is absolutely beautiful. Trails are well maintained. The lodge is lovely. The scenery is beautiful. I've been here a few times, and I can't wait to spend even more time here next winter. It really is an area gem.
Tara — Google review
One of my absolute favourite cross-country ski sites. Loads of trails, a beautiful warming hut , prompt grooming, the nicest fellow skiers, and the snow is always so gosh darn perfect! Options for everyone from beginners to advanced. It's also clearly well loved by the community: an accidental fire took out the hut and locals came together in no time to fundraise and build a new one.
Geordon O — Google review
GPS leads you to no where really. All gates were closed but website says they are open. Don't waste your time
Barry D — Google review
Loved this place. As a first time visitor I didn't know what to expect but found very reasonable degrees of difficulty and stumbled onto a gem of a warming hut. Even the black rated Marathon trail is quite doable if you're ok with some fast descending. Fantastic lodge with plenty of space. Good signage. $10/ drop in visit, cash or online, very fair.
Tom W — Google review
Really pristine trails. I went with my dad and sister. It's one of the better trails I've tried out in Alberta. You can either pay by cash (self-registration, honour system) or online with card for a day pass. The only downside is that not all trails are groomed to be two-way.

Friendly and easy going staff, really enjoyed our trip. Good intro rafting tour -a more relaxed float with a few waves along the way. The more intense whitewater would be closer to Jasper (only reason for the 4 stars). We hosted a bachelor party with them and they handled us very well, and even chatted with us at the Folding Mountain Brewery after when we ran into each other. Service was superb!

The Athabasca River Front Park is a picturesque location with stunning surroundings. It offers beautiful trails, making it an ideal spot for walks with your furry friend or simply enjoying a peaceful stroll by the river. The park's historic ambiance adds to its charm and makes it a hidden gem in Hinton. Additionally, the park is well-maintained throughout the year, including winter when the lots are plowed, enhancing its appeal even further.
My family loved our time here! The dock was available for us to use. Water is shallow enough for people and dogs to swim. However please still be cautious as water can change quickly. Beautiful view of the mountains. Most definitely will come back. Also close to walking trails.
Judinelly N — Google review
Nice quiet place to take in a short walk through forested area and along the river. There is a lovely spot with a bench to sit and watch the river. I like taking my dog here (on leash of course) to walk and have a splash in the river. Big open field for kids to play and picnic benches. It’s nice and close to town with washrooms on site and parking. Nice hidden gem within town 👍
Lisa H — Google review
I would not go out of my way to come here if I was looking for a scenic hike. The paths don't seem to go anywhere and there doesn't appear to be much of a view. Maybe nice if you have a dog. There is a map of the trail attached to a tree (I think) further in if you take the left path. The drive in was also a little sketchy. There is a gazebo with some picnic benches and an open field, so it might be nice for that purpose. Two portapotties, his and hers. Pretty clean.
Joanna Y — Google review
Came on a September afternoon. Very quite and may be good for a river side walk but the river is dry and access thru a dirt road.
Mike L — Google review
I love taking my dog there. So much space to play, quiet and the grass is always cut. Nice covered picnic tables, half decent portapottys and the trail around is pretty. Not to mention the Athabasca River is so mice to sit by on the benches. Sweet place.
Julie D — Google review
Local park to Hinton. It's ok, but the walking trail is so short, and you're back at the parking lot before you know it. Having industry all around doesn't help its appeal either. However, it's nice to sit and watch the river with a coffee.
Kate O — Google review
Park not really accessible for anyone with walking issues. Picnic tables to far from parking. We stopped for a little rest and seems everyone's dog was running off leash. We had our service dog leashed and tied at picnic table with us and he was attacked by a loose dog. Owners just let him come right over. I should have booted it soon as i saw its back hair raise up. Luckily he wasn't hurt but the owners of the attacking dog didn't even appear to care. Dangerous place to go if you have pets .
Will S — Google review
Kind of an afterthought for a park, not an ideal destination. The Town of Hinton does little to maintain the rough playing field and parking area. No info and you just kind of feel like you're not supposed to be there. The rough and dusty gravel road access from the Town's worst industrial area just leaves a bad impression. Who really thought this was a good idea? Bonus point for river access and a take-out area for paddlers, otherwise kind of sketchy and dangerous at high water.

Las Tres Marias Mexican Food Truck is a delightful gem that you simply must experience if you're in the Jasper or Hinton area. Nestled in Whistlers Campground, this food truck serves up Tacos Mexicana that are nothing short of extraordinary—so good, they might just haunt your dreams! The beef brisket tacos are particularly noteworthy for their tenderness and authentic flavor, rivaling even what you'd find in Mexico itself.
Happened by the truck in Whistlers Campground, Jasper. Had the Tacos Mexicana and just WOW. Was not expecting that for a food truck. Dreamt of it all night but it was our last night camping. Found out they had another location in Hinton so just had to get some as we passed by. The quality again was superb! Had the beef brisket Tacos Mexicana and it is so tender. Very authentic Mexican food. Better than when I go to Mexico. Highly recommended. If you're in need of some food and are passing by Hinton or Jasper, highly highly consider Los Tres Marias! You won't be disappointed

Great little local spot to stop for a quick bite! Portions are great and the couple that owns it are very friendly. It was also nice to support local rather than eating at a food chain. Would recommend the stop if you’re passing through looking for a good authentic taco or dorados.

I finally managed to make the stop coming through jasper. Absolutely unreal tacos. 100% worth the small detour. 1000 times better then the typical fast food road trip stops. Top ten tacos and ive had them on 4 continents and 12 countries. 9.6 out 10. I will absolutely be back!

Steak house
Canadian Steakout Grill & Lounge is a laid-back sports bar and grill that offers a variety of Canadian dishes, including steaks, burgers, and pub favorites. The restaurant has garnered a loyal following for its hearty multi-course meals and welcoming atmosphere. Guests can enjoy the new indoor patio while indulging in the AAA 45+ day aged prime rib available on Fridays and Saturdays. The menu caters to all ages, with generous portions at reasonable prices.
We went on a Thursday at around 11:30am. There was only one table when we arrived, but it shortly after lots of people came in. We got the cheeseburger lunch specials that came with one side for $16. It's a great deal and the food was excellent. It came out fast, hot and fresh. The cheeseburger had pickles, onions, tomato and lettuce. For sides we got sweet potato fries and a garden salad with house dressing. The house dressing has a bit of a minty taste. The sweet potato fries came with a generous portion of chipotle sauce. I would highly recommend stopping by for lunch if you are on your way to Jasper!

Ate way more food than this but everything was delicious. The staff and kitchen were extremely accommodating of our dietary restrictions and on top of their game. Lots of the meat options are halal and are cooked separately from any non halal meat. Family friendly, and reasonably priced for the quality of food you get. If I ever find myself in Hinton again I would definitely go back to Canadian Steakout ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Arwa A — Google review
Absolutely phenomenal experience for our last night in Hinton for our Jasper weekend getaway! The steak special was hands-down one of the best we've ever had — cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and incredibly tender. Every bite was a reminder of why we came here in the first place. What truly elevated our night, though, was our server, Glassy. She was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, making us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. Her recommendations were spot-on and her timing flawless. A perfect evening thanks to amazing food and stellar service. We'll definitely be back!

This place is definitely worth checking out. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, and there was a line up outside the door to get in, for a reason!! The staff is absolutely amazing! Super efficient and friendly. You don’t see that very often. Our server was Glassy, she is very good, double checks everything to make sure there are no mistakes or misunderstandings. Not sure where they found their staff but wow. Top notch. This day and age that’s hard to find. Food is another level. It is a pub, you expect pub food, but it was way above that. Excellent! Will definitely tell everyone I know, and will be back!
Kristy C — Google review
Great place for a local steakhouse. They have about every kind of cut of meat. Their specialty is the brisket and it is yummy! Their cornbread is amazing, it melts in your mouth. The steak taco salad was incredible also. The drinks are reasonable and the service is the best you can get. We were treated wonderfully all night. Great spot to chat, eat, drink, and watch baseball. Awesome stop!
William C — Google review
Visited this steakhouse in Hinton and was pleasantly surprised! The portions were generous, the flavors were spot-on, and the service was impressively quick. They have special deals on different days, which adds a fun twist—but I was a bit thrown off seeing a cheeseburger as the Thursday special at a steakhouse. Still, the food was delicious and the overall experience was great. Would definitely return, just maybe not on a Thursday!

Fast food restaurant
Wendy's is a quick-service hamburger restaurant that offers additional options like chili and baked potatoes. Repeated visits have consistently been enjoyable, with properly prepared burgers and piping hot fries. The staff member encountered during this specific review was friendly and welcoming. The overall experience at Wendy's largely depends on the employees who work there and serve the customers. However, it should be noted that the drink and extras area could benefit from more thorough cleaning.
A very quiet place, we had lunch with family. The chicken burgers, hamburgers, and coffee were all so delicious.
Gowda S — Google review
Bit of a quieter place but still good value for money. Nice food and fast service. Had some music on too which helped with the vibe slightly
Ryan S — Google review
Got to Wendy’s at 10:30pm and the place looked closed. Ended calling them because we weren’t sure as all the lights were off. Turns out they are open. Go to order food and half the stuff we wanted they said wasn’t available. Ended up ordering a baconator and the actual meat was ice cold. I get it’s the end of the day, but the service and quality of food is still expected to be the same as it is during the rest of the day until the store closes.
Erin H — Google review
So far, not one visit I've made here had me excited about the food or experience. Typically old or cold even. I've asked for fresher food the other times, but honestly just won't bother with the annoyance. I have backed out of drive through once as well. 5 minutes wait at the kiosk was pretty brutal. I don't think this Wendy's will have more visits from me. Oh well!
Wesley C — Google review
I'll keep it simple. Just don't. This location isn't worth the stop. Although the food is fine, it's the quality of service you're gonna get. And it's not worth it. Over 60% of the pop selection were unavailable. The drive thru was cash only. But we could use card inside. We asked for take out and we were given a tray. After informing that we wanted to take it away just kinda stood there confused. Save yourself the trouble. Source: Trust me bro.
Timothy P — Google review
They love to close super early. They shut down machines and clean just after 10 then hang out in the dining room till actual close time. It's wonderful when you show up nearly an hour before they close and they say "we ran out of product" will be reporting to corporate.
Nick R — Google review
Rough time today at wendys. 3 Employees working, 1 on break, 1 table dining, and just me ordering. Took my order while handling cash, tried to speak past me when giving change to tell a customer to take their garbage out. Older gentleman who just set his tray on the counter. Then the manager making my food, sets my food down to go grab dirty trays, huff and puffed. Then takes the dirty trays and tells the elderly gentleman to throw his own garbage out. (Right behind your counter where he put his tray has a massive garbage.) Then they continued to give me my food after handling money and taking garbage out. Pretty bad experience.
Mackenzie D — Google review
A little disappointed with the service here. We came close to closing time as we didn't realize how different the hours were here compared to in Edmonton. Ordered the ice cream for my kids with that special edition cherry sauce (Wednesday Adam's blood stuff) on it and repeatedly said we wanted just the iced cream, not the meal that it was advertised with. They proceeded to give us a meal, even after all the clarification. The staff themselves were kind, just not very attentive to what we were asking for. The restaurant itself was clean, but two of the three bathrooms were out of order, making for long waits for our family to all use the bathroom.

I’m a vegetarian, and I had the vegetarian bowl from this place—it was absolutely delicious! The ingredients were fresh and flavorful, and everything was perfectly balanced. On top of that, the staff was incredibly nice and polite, which made the experience even better. I highly recommend this place to anyone, especially fellow vegetarians looking for a tasty and satisfying meal. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I don’t understand where these good reviews are coming from. I wanted to have a classic Mexican burrito, but instead I got some kind of strange mush made of random ingredients. I asked for their signature burrito, but not spicy. In the end, they had no idea how to do that and just made me choose the ingredients myself, even though I didn’t want to bother with that and said several times that I didn’t want to choose—just make your classic signature burrito. The result was some kind of weird slop :) They also burned the pita on the grill. Overall, this is not a classic Mexican café but a “build it yourself” place. It’s also quite noisy there, and the girl speaks very quietly and indistinctly, which makes choosing ingredients even harder. On top of that, the restroom door doesn’t close properly, so if you don’t push it shut firmly and fail to notice, someone could just walk in on you.

We went here for dinner today and had a truly amazing experience! The food was absolutely superb – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was very warm, welcoming, and friendly. Special mention to Rohan, one of the staff members, who provided excellent service and made sure we were well taken care of. Highly recommend this place!
