Sights & Landmarks
Monuments & Statues
Wawa Goose is a significant landmark located at the junction of the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 101, dating back to 1960. The steel monument pays homage to Wawa's large iron ore mine and its Ojibway name meaning 'Wild Goose' or 'Land of the Big Goose.' Visitors can explore the area around Wawa, including Whitefish Lodge & Outpost Camps on Lake Superior, offering activities like fishing and blueberry picking.
It was a gigantic statue of geese and my family loved it. There was wonderful mesmerizing view to Lake Superior. And a list of all tourist spot. At night we stayed in Motel HWY 17. It was located right next to OPP. And we felt safe to stay there and the quality was better than many five star ⭐️ hotel. There was a free parking and petrol station 🚉 right next to it.

The Wawa Goose is a good stop off highway 17. The visitor center focuses on the history of Wawa. Signs outside highlight history, but also current ways to enjoy the area. There's information about fishing derbies, the Lake Superior Circle Tour, and the Voyageur Trail (among others).
Paige L — Google review
We stopped by after the tourist center and gift shop closed. However, there was lots of helpful information on signs spread throughout the area. There were a few places that provided a good view of the area, and some picnic tables by the trees along the edge of the parking area.

Nice parking lot, lovely history. Always loads of weird bugs here trying to eat you, lol. A piano inside for anyone to play! VERY cool historical artifacts & info.

Stopped in Wawa Ontario to check out the Wawa goose. Photo opportunity with the goose , friendly and knowledgeable staff in the visitor center, which had some local information ,little gift shop , bathrooms, large parking area, ( capable of truck with camper ) , and free !

Awesome humongous goose! History of the area written on plaques. Worth the stop and to rest and to enjoy the area.
Gardner S — Google review
The Wawa Goose Monument is a quick and iconic roadside stop that’s hard to miss! 🏞️🪿 Even if you're just passing by, it's worth pulling over for a memorable photo with one of Canada's most famous geese. The monument celebrates Wawa’s name—"Wawa" means "wild goose" in Ojibwe—and has become a well-loved local symbol. There’s a small parking area nearby, making it an easy stop on your road trip! 📸🇨🇦
Leo H — Google review
What they say is, you weren't been to Wawa if you don't have a photo with the Goose. But aside from the goose 🪿 you must spend time at their beach. Wawa maybe small but wonderful!

Dr. Rose's Beach, also known as Sandy Beach Eco-Interpretive Park, is a stunning destination located just a short drive from the Goose. The park offers breathtaking views and features a storytelling pavilion that shares the history of the First Nations people and renowned artists who once inhabited the area. Visitors can stroll along the boardwalk, sink their toes into the white sand beach, and take in the beauty of Lake Superior.
This may be the loveliest lake I ever visited. Gorgeous rocks and incredibly clean, clear fresh water. We actuality drank the water, as it was so clean and fresh! We spent ages wading out and looking at the rocks as it was very calm and shallow.
Lydia B — Google review
Bathrooms were decent, definitely well used. Parking is excellent for a large camper if it is not busy. Beach is good for dogs as the water is shallow for throwing a ball or Frisbee into the water.

Absolutely beautiful! I've never got to enjoy the fog rollin like that before and it was amazing ! Just such beautiful scenery, Sun, rain and fog

This is a great beach for small children because the water is usually calm and it is shallow for a long way out. There are lots of different colours of rocks to find. The location is also super convenient.

A lovely place to relax, admire the views of the Boreal forest and have a quiet picnic.

So incredibly beautiful. Visited this beach when I was on a road trip and got the best views with little to no crowd. There’s many benches to sit on and enjoy the view.

Nestled along the scenic Lake Superior Circle Tour, Young's General Store has become a cherished gem in Wawa’s cultural tapestry. This charming store exudes nostalgia with its quaint exterior reminiscent of old frontier towns, evoking fond childhood memories for many visitors. The iconic goose statue outside is a piece of local history, being the first built by Mr. Koci back in 1960.
Wow, this place has a little bit of everything! We enjoyed an ice cream while browsing. They are known for their yummy sausage, and while it is a tad expensive, it didn't disappoint! So many things for sale, but I suggest stopping in to see for yourself... we enjoyed it!

Employee was very nice when I was having car issues. Her boyfriend? Or friend? Helped me find the oil I was looking for. Great shop too, plenty of neat things to buy!

This is an authentic smal town general store, stocked with items from indigenous and local merchants from clothing to household items. Foods such as homemade delicious beef jerky (oh my YUM) , their famous pickle barrel. Check it out the old artifacts amongst the store is also enjoyable to look back in time of this town of Wawa

Nestled in a picturesque setting, Michipicoten Golf Club is a delightful 9-hole course that promises an enjoyable golfing experience for players of all skill levels. The layout is thoughtfully designed, featuring an array of water hazards and sand traps that add to the challenge and excitement. Beyond the greens, visitors can soak in stunning scenery while enjoying top-notch amenities at the clubhouse, which offers delicious food and refreshing beverages.
Beautiful golf course. I highly recommend it if you are ever in the area. I will definitely come back for another 9 holes. The scenery if just beautiful. The club house is top notch and the staff is very friendly and professional. They seem to go out of their way to make sure you have the most enjoyable experience as possible. There is also a lot of other activities you can do in the area. They have a wide variety of restaurants to choose from and if you’re into having a few cocktails, there is quite a few different spots to choose from. This was my first time playing this course but it definitely won’t be my last time. The course itself is very well maintained and the views are excellent, especially in the fall when the leaves are changing colors. We are already planning another trip here for next year. It is one of the best golf courses I have played at, although I am fairly new to golfing. Some of the guys I went here with have been to many more golf course than I have, and definitely have a lot more experience than I do, but they all agreed that this was one of the finest courses that they have played at also. They all said that they can not wait until next year when we can do this all again. We were all so glad that we decided to just pick a random course in Canada and ended up playing at this beautiful golf course.

Charming little business with friendly staff and wine/juice samples available. We came in October so the harvest was over but we enjoyed the drive through the fields to the waterfalls and purchases some great natural products.

Great place to visit and buy their wonderful products! We loved the wine- bought the blueberry red wine and the blueberry and strawberry red! Loved them both. The owner was super nice! He gave us a nice tour through the winery and showed us the way to the Wawa waterfall. ❤️ Don’t pass by this place without entering!

My family and I stopped by here on a road trip around Lake Superior. Mackenzie and Bruce welcomed us. Mackenzie provided some samples of their blueberry juice & wine, which we all really enjoyed & purchased to take with us. We loved that their juice was just made of blueberries, no other chemicals and preservatives. He was extremely helpful, informative, partiently answered all our questions and helped us with local directions. experience!

This makes for a great little stop if you’re passing through the area. They have a good variety of strawberry and blueberry wines for sale, and they allow for a decent sampling of them before committing to anything. They also sell a bunch of berries depending on when you show up, and I was able to buy a bunch of haskap berries that were like tart blueberries in a great way. The wines were excellent and I bought several to bring home.

Got your new addition, blueberry juice. We enjoyed it on its own and alsomade 2 seperate drinks: Grand Marnier+ Amerrato- shook with ice and served in iceA++ .Also with 1¾ ounce Gin with same blueberry juice and half a lime. One ice topped with club soda! Wonderful job on the wine also! Oh and we love the blueberry BBQ sauce also. Cheers!

I got a gift basket and I love everything in there the BBQ sauce is so amazing and the juice is sooo good I also added it to my soda stream water wow just so so yummy I love all the jams to and syrup amazing products...

I discovered Algoma Highlands at The Royal Winter Fair this year (2022). I was able to sample 3 wines as well as some different types of condiments including syrups, BBQ sauces, and more. I am not a wine person myself, and it has never been my drink of choice but I do enjoy a strawberry wine on occasion. After tasting the blueberry wine, I think that’s going to change. I went ahead and bought 2 bottles (I should add they were very reasonably priced) and I’m looking forward to drinking them and eventually ordering more online. The blueberry maple syrup was also amazing! All of the staff I met between their 2 booths at The Royal were super nice. Thank you so much for making such delicious products!

I visit this farm on my way to Toronto every summer. I had the opportunity to speak with the owner and ask him questions and find out more about his operation. He started his farm from cleared boggy land and grows wild blueberries and strawberries. . It’s located just past the Wawa Goose on highway 17 ... I purchased strawberry and blueberry wine, blueberry BBQ sauce, and blueberry and strawberry jam. Can’t wait to stop in again next summer 🚙 @algomahighlandswildblueberries

Waterfalls
The best falls out of many I visited on the trip to Lake Superior PP. The Falls can be seen from the road but the trail is a must. Go to the top to see 5 small falls at the same level. It was a great hike and we loved it.
Sam Z — Google review
These waterfalls look pretty, but they’re pretty far away from the closest viewing area. It’s a bit underwhelming, but maybe worth a quick stop. It’d be nice if you could get closer though.
Mateo G — Google review
The falls are beautiful however kinda hard to see the parking lot is off to the side, and to get a good view, you need to stand on the road/narrow bridge. Be mindful of cars driving thru the area and wouldn't recommend bringing small children here.
Nicole D — Google review
Silver Falls is beautiful, there is a short hike (about 5-10 minutes) to the top of the falls. On the hike there were plenty of animals (birds, chipmunks, and even beavers) It is a must see if in Wawa, Ontario
Joshua M — Google review
Great little waterfall here in Wawa, On. There is a small trail on the left side of the falls that will take you up to the top of the falls (what you would see from the bridge) but there is tons more to see if you follow the trail even farther upstream. Pros: Beautiful views! Easy trail Fun activity for a short amount of time Cons: Lots of mosquitoes and black flies so bring some bug repellant. Can get muddy on the trail during spring
Kaya Z — Google review
Beautiful falls and easy to see. Small parking lot on right just before bridge. Best views are from the bridge

Silver Falls, you drive closer to Wawa, go on a industrial road, through the 1st Nations Towmn, and the Sign is on the Right, with a small parking area but a Muddy, pothole filled ATV road! Walk through about 1/2 km and You will be Rewarded! Lots of Bugs when I made my Way with the Wife!

Nestled in the charming town of Wawa, Lai's Restaurant is a hidden gem that offers a delightful culinary experience. With its retro vibe reminiscent of the late 60s, this eatery exudes character despite its slightly musty scent from vintage furnishings. Perfect for travelers seeking comfort food, Lai's serves generous portions that are both tasty and satisfying. The wonton noodle soup has garnered praise for its semi-authentic flavor, making it a standout dish alongside their crispy egg rolls.
This was a great find for us! Traveling north, stopped near Wawa for the night, needed a good meal for 7 hungry travelers, really glad we chose Lai's for takeout! All the dishes were tasty, portions were generous, and the veggie dishes had a good variety of different vegetables, not just broccoli or celery like some places give you. We've added this restaurant to our list of favourite places in northern Ontario.
Frank H — Google review
I thought the food was very delicious and very filling! However after the meal I did get food poisoning The dinner for two had so much that we couldn't finish, we also got spring rolls which weren't anything special and we felt were store bought instead of made, either than that the food was delicious however for my low rating the restaurant did not look very good from either the outside nor inside and getting food poisoning was not fun. The restaurant also says dine in on Google however they only do take out, feels the restaurant is stuck in time
Omega H — Google review
A delightful surprise! The case doesn't convey the content. Went for supper on a Tuesday night. The restaurant looks like it was built in late-60's and not renovated since, BUT it does add to the charm. The place does have a strange musty scent like old cigarette smoke and vintage furniture. There are a few tables for 2, 4, 6. Most were circular. We ordered a dinner for two and two kids meals. Portions were generous and tasty. The wonton noodle soup was delicious. The broth was tasty and not overly salty. The eggrolls were crispy, and hot. The beef and vegetables on noodles we're fresh and not over cooked. Very tasty. The chicken balls were quite doughy but tasted good. The chicken fried rice lacked veggies and was underwhelming. The entrance and washrooms are not gear for mobility impaired customers but the tables are all movable. There was an abundant options of kids meals with standards like hotdogs, chicken fingers, fish&chips, grilled cheese. They have a very affordable buffet lunch on Friday and Sunday night.
Genevieve B — Google review
Food is very good. Take out only, so can’t comment on the atmosphere. Food is fresh and tasty and I recommend it especially if you are on a long trip, like we were. Waiting time is about average for a Chinese restaurant, so I recommend calling ahead.
Jane K — Google review
As an explorer, here's my spin... Pulled into this town of wawa on a chilly evening and wanted a bowl of soup, was pleasantly surprise the wonton soup was semi authentic Chinese. Tasted pretty good. Egg rolls were good too. They close early 830pm.

Food is pretty good though I'm pretty sure they messed up my order as I had ordered a sezchuan chicken and I got some kinda chicken noodles

Ordered take out.I had fried rice with egg and scallop. Good, but the chop sticks were so poor they had splinters and cut my lip ,. For how many you give out I would suggest the restaurant buy better ones.

The Wawa Goose Bar & Grill is a popular spot in Wawa, Ontario, known for its good bar food and fast, friendly service. The inviting bar setting with plenty of televisions and well-staffed bar creates a comfortable atmosphere. Visitors have enjoyed the delicious menu items such as pizza with perfect gooey cheese, various appetizers, and kids' grilled cheese. The clean washrooms and great ambiance add to the overall experience.
Stopped in for supper on a week night passing through Wawa and this place was rocking! Town was quiet but I guess everyone knows where to go for some good food. We were seated and served quickly. The food came out fast and it was fresh with very generous portions. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was lively and upbeat. Great little stop for this little town!

Amazing food, cool atmosphere and wonderful service! A kind brunette lady in the red flannel was our server and she was friendly, sweet, attentive and funny. She made us feel at home! We are on a road trip and have been looking for good food all day across rural Ontario and this is by far the best place we have come across! The best bbq ribs I have ever had hands down!

One of our favourite places to eat in Wawa! Good quality food and clean restaurant. Just off HWY 17 and about an hour from LSPP and Agawa Bay. The service was very good and informative about our menu questions. Food was fresh and timely. The bar and grill seemed busy with locals and visitors. We will be back!
Brian F — Google review
I hate to say it was OK. But I am honest reviewer. The hostess was sort of, I don't know. Uncomfortable vibe. Sat us at a table instead of the last booth. Annoying. The chairs were so Uncomfortable, my legs went numb just sitting on them. I have leg problems and the seat was so hard, and sharp. Awful. Dead animals everywhere, 😢 💔 but hey, it's a hunters place I guess. . Not my vibe. The waitress was sweet, and kind. The turkey club was ok. The turkey was pinkish and too thick for the sandwich. The fries were frozen, the gravy was good. The coleslaw tasted very old. As the fries did. The food came out quite fast. But whatever. Good enough to eat and go to our hotel to sleep.

Wawa is an excellent stop when driving from say, Sudbury, when travelling to the Western Provinces, or driving East on your way to Toronto. It’s a cute town built around its relationship with water, nature and Canada Geese, the latter of which you will see in lights and in VERY large images all down the main drag. If you are looking for excellent food, a good atmosphere and great service, then look no further than the Wawa Goose Bar and Grill. We did not stay at the attached Wawa Motor Inn (this time) on our annual cross-Canada trip but I’ve attached a couple of pictures of the front desk & lobby (so you might want to check that out too - as we will, another time). Anyhow, the food at the Wawa Goose Bar & Grill was, in a word, amazing. Actually the best food we’ve had in our ‘one month so far’ journey away from home. We ordered the 1/2 Chicken Dinner & the Half Rack of Ribs, each of which came with “your choice of 2 sides” (which actually came ‘on the plate’ & not ‘on the side’. We both coincidently ordered the same sides (a Caesar salad & fries). We shared the juicy & meaty ribs (probably 5 or so each!) & we cut the chicken in half too. Both were done in a similarly delicious sauce. The meals were plentiful and very tasty. The ‘sides’ were also delicious as both were crunchy. Wow! Those fries!!! The service was excellent. Thank you Kathleen. The place was very busy, especially for a Tuesday night! The location is great. Lots of parking - and the inside, well, I mean; I fell in love with the place when I saw the carved coffee tables in the entrance way (see my pictures). The actual bar was oval, large and central, well lit and well stocked. There was a large screen featuring choice music from Spotify and related informational screenshots. Other larger screens around the perimeter featured the Blue Jays / Astros Baseball Game whilst others showed other sports and topics of interest. My love of Western cowboy Metal Art was featured around various booth locations and the taxidermy was almost as eye-opening as a large Bass-Pro Outlet! Impressive and eye catching, as was the large bricked fireplace and numerous other keepsakes and antiques. As good as the food was, I found myself distracted by all of the wonderful surroundings. I’ll be sure to stop by again on next years’ West to East & ‘back-again’ return road-trip.

We were traveling through Ontario for 16 hours and made a stop in Wawa, looking forward to a nice family lunch at the Wawa Goose Bar and Grill. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. When we arrived, the "Please wait to be seated" sign was turned around against the wall, so we assumed it was okay to seat ourselves. We even made eye contact with the server, so she clearly saw us. But instead of a friendly correction, she responded with a rude and uncalled-for tone, telling us we needed to wait to be seated. We would have had no issue waiting if the message had been delivered respectfully. There were only a few tables occupied, so it didn’t seem like a particularly busy time. While we stood waiting, we also overheard the same server speaking rudely to another table that had asked for assistance. At that point, we decided it wasn’t worth staying. We were really hoping for a pleasant break and a nice meal together during our long drive, but this experience put a damper on that. Hopefully, the staff can work on their customers service moving on.
Shauna B — Google review
Food was sitting in grease bath on your plate. Most items were freezer to deep fryer.... not homemade. Waited 45+ minutes for our meals. Other tables got served before ours, even though they walked in 20+ minutes after we did. Waitress was terrible, forgot to bring drinks, had no care that food was awful. Too many tables to even walk around without knocking into other guests while they were eating.
Valerie — Google review
I realize it was very busy so that’s why I gave a 4 on service. Servers were over stretched. Beer was a bit pricey for draft. Pizza was very good. Decor is very nice and gives you something to look at. Jays fans galore which is great.

Chophouse restaurant
North Of 17 Restaurant is a popular spot in Wawa, known for its friendly service and delicious food. Despite low expectations while traveling with pets, visitors were pleasantly surprised by the Outdoorsman Motel. The restaurant has a classic diner atmosphere with spacious and clean interiors. The menu offers a variety of options, including fully loaded pizzas that are large and flavorful. Guests also enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the restaurant during their stay in Wawa, praising the friendly servers and tasty meals at reasonable prices.
Had a stopover at Wawa for a quick visit and bite to eat for 2 adults early afternoon on a weekday. Driving down the main street, saw this place and decided to try it out. It has a diner feel, space is big, older decor, and clean. Our server was lovely and came by often enough to help us. The menu had lots of options to choose from. We ordered and shared the fully loaded medium pizza. The wait wasn't too bad, about 15 to 20 minutes. The pizza was large, definitely loaded, thin crust and so tasty. We ate everything in one sitting and full! The washroom was also clean and in good shape. Great restaurant to try out if stopping by Wawa as a visitor out of town.

The interior lacks charm, but it seems clean enough. Service was pleasant. My husband had the liver and said it was decent. The gyros plate, at $26, was under whelming. The wrap itself was okay. There was not a lot of meat, but the sauce was good. The rice was just a large scoop of slightly cold white rice. No spices or anything. If I pass through town again, I will not bother to stop

This was my favorite restaurant in Wawa! I had both breakfast and dinner here, and everything was absolutely delicious. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were always friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!

Everything was fantastic. I had a pizza and souvlaki bowl. The chicken was AMAZING and so tender. The salad was fresh. Pizza was also great. Would recommend anyone to stop here on their journey in northern Ontario.

We stopped in for lunch on our way farther north and were not disappointed! My club sandwich was a classic and well executed and my partners meatball sandwich was also very good. Service was friendly and quick.

We stopped for lunch in Wawa on our road trip. Loved the friendly staff, huge restaurant, lots of seating options on the patio or indoors. I ordered the pickeral meal,my husband had the haddock meal and our daughter ordered chicken ceasar wrap with onion rings. The food was fresh, hot and flavorful. Presentation was beautuful. When in Wawa stop by, you will not be disappointed. Greek family owned and years of service providing wonderful dishes to their community. Prices were a bit high, but we didn't mind because everything last bite was worth it.

Best restaurant in town! We stopped to have lunch at wawa. This was the best choice we ever made. I read some review before I went there and definitely its the best in town hands down. We had chicken soluvaki, chocolate milkshake, chicken club sandwich and chicken fillet. The soluvaki was the best ... amazing taste... the kitchen was run by 2 people only. The service was quick. There are a lot of options in the menu to chose from. Very friendly staff I guess this restraint truly gives you the Small town feel where everyone knows you by name. This restaurant also had ample space for seating or you can use it as a party hall. The restrooms were neatly maintained and clean. The pricing was okay.!

Tim Hortons is a popular Canadian chain known for its premium coffee blends, light fare, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches. Customers have praised the friendly and efficient staff at various locations, noting clean facilities and quick service. Love coming back to this Tim Hortons!”

Usually nice and clean and well maintained. Friendly staff and lots of parking. If you want to park and stay for a while, it's a really good option. They have everything in stock and lots of space as well.

Explain how free cost me .53? I ofdr enough DR DD XL coffees to finally get 400 points and then because it's ordered in a combo it cost me .53? You gave me $1.44 for a coffee that's normally nearly 2.5, and I normally get 100% when individually ordered anywhere in canada. Pic of order and sugar because you're shorting that too. Scam.

This is the place where you want to spend your morning for breakfast and coffee in the small town of wava. Krushal and other staff were welcoming and perfect in taking your order and making you comfortable. I recommend this place. They have a long drive through which you will only see in wava and you will enjoy it . Lots of positive vibes only.. Go to timmie.

Absolutely Disgusting and Unprofessional Experience If I could give zero stars, I would. We visited the Tim Hortons in Wawa and had to wait over 20 minutes for a simple order—only to receive food with hair in it. Completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, we noticed a staff member named Piyush working around food without a beard net, which is a basic hygiene requirement. Only after we pointed it out did anyone take action. We repeatedly asked for a manager, but no one came forward. After a long and frustrating wait, Lester finally stepped up. He was polite and did his best to help, and we appreciate his efforts—but by then, we had already wasted over 40 minutes dealing with this situation. Despite Lester’s professionalism, the overall experience was terrible. The staff were uncooperative and careless about hygiene and customer service. This location clearly lacks basic standards. Avoid it if you value cleanliness, time, or basic respect as a customer.
Shubham R — Google review
Wawa Tim Hortons is a regular stop for me when travelling Hwy 17. Unfortunately my experiences at this location over the last few years have been declining from extended wait times to quality of service and on my last visit, attitude from the young man serving me at the drive through. When I first turned into the parking lot there were no cars in the drive-thru and I thought this should be really quick however when I got to the window and started receiving my items, the order was wrong, by a lot. A supervisor had to be called to review the order and charge the proper amount and when I left there were several cars lined up, no doubt frustrated with the wait. The young man had attitude while taking the order and afterwards when he made the errors, never once apologizing for the error or wait. The supervisor had to step in and do damage control. Over the last few years I was hoping the service would have improved and I wouldn't have had to let others know through this review what they might be in for if they visit this location.
Steve R — Google review
Awesome customer service! Staff made a few mistakes in our order, yes it happens specifically when it's super busy. The manager quickly fixed our order with a smile! Excellent customer service!
Gardner S — Google review
Went in and could not order any thing that needed to be cooked or heated. Like a wrap or chili or soup. They explained they were closing and everything was shut down ... it was 9:10p they close at 10:00p.!!!!! Are you not supposed to provide service until closing, and then shut down the store after the customers leave. Had a cold sandwich and it was ok. Tim Hortons is really losing ground in the food service industry, if it wasn't for legacy customers I wonder how many new customers they attract.?

Beautiful park. Probably the best we’ve seen in all of Canada. The Agawa bay campground is best though…. But hard to book! There are waterfalls, hiking to top of mountain, beaches that are breathtaking. But the water on a calm day is unbelievable! Katherine cove stunning with bathtub island
Mike D — Google review
A nice visitor center with a park information desk, art, a gift shop and other facilities. Firewood and ice can be purchased here. There's a cart to help move that firewood too. The dog exercise part of the beach is near the visitor center too.
Paige L — Google review
Our visit to Lake Superior Provincial Park was in late June. We were lucky to get a reservation with a beautiful site close to the lake. The beach was breathtaking and very quiet. The facilities were clean - we opted to use the flush toilets ;) The staff were friendly and helpful in suggesting hiking trails.
J L — Google review
Great views, a large beach and the visitor centre has an informative exhibition which is good for kids.
Dan L — Google review
It's starting to show its age but it's a really nice centre and the staff are always super knowledgeable and friendly. There are a couple of picnic tables for a quick bite and the beach is nice to dip your toes in the Lake.

Beautiful Park with glorious sunsets and beach! Their visitors center is great; but needs to have some money put back into it, to have the 3 dimensional water display of the great lakes refurbished, and some of the videos digitized to ensure they are of better quality. I'm sure nobody complains about Ontario Parks toilet paper being too thick, so I won't either. How do they make it so 🤔 thin???
Ray L — Google review
Visited on a extended Labour day weekend trip from the GTA. The visitors center was open in limited capacity. The staff was very helpful in providing information on trails etc. The trail in the park were well maintained. Be careful on some trails, Apparently some people find it to take trail markers. The wood was dry and burned well. We stayed at Agawa Bay. Sleeping to the sound of waves crashing was awesome!

Agawa Rock Pictographs, located in Lake Superior Provincial Park, is home to one of the largest collections of First Nations pictographs in Ontario. These remarkably intact drawings depict canoes, moose, deer, bears and caribou and are considered enduring messages from the past by the indigenous Ojibwe people. Despite some weathering and algae affecting visibility, this site offers a beautiful natural landscape with clear blue and green waters that make it a special place to visit.
Agawa Rock Pictographs was one of the places I planned to visit on my trip from Winnipeg to Toronto, and it was absolutely worth it. The cliffs are stunningly high, and even the short hike to get there is beautiful in itself. The trail is rocky, sometimes slippery, and can get pretty cold, so make sure to wear proper shoes when heading down. At the site, you’ll see Agawa Rock—home to 400-year-old ancient art painted by the Ojibwe people on the granite cliffs of Lake Superior. These pictographs were created using red ochre mixed with animal fat or fish oil, which is why they’ve survived centuries of exposure. Among them is Mishipeshu, the legendary Underwater Panther—a powerful spirit in Anishinaabe mythology, believed to guard the waters and command the storms. For me, this spot was a highlight of the trip. It’s not just a beautiful natural setting, but also a powerful cultural and historical symbol of the Indigenous people of Canada. If you love history, culture, and nature, this place is a must-see …
Kia S — Google review
worthwhile checking out if you are able to do some climbing. wearing non slip shoes is highly recommended. saw people wearing flip flops... it was a warm dry day but the rocks are still slippery.
Rand M — Google review
So many beautiful sights to see here. From the lush woods to the pictographs, this is one of the most beautiful places I've been. The pictographs were powerful and emotional, it had felt like their spirits were there with us.
Meep M — Google review
Easy on a dry day. Stay a few feet off the rock wall so you're not tempted to touch the rock wall. Please be mindful and respectful of this sacred site. Recommend kayaking from the nearby dock for the best views.
Barry R — Google review
Very cool place. Short but steep walk down to the water line and then you better have some good shoes so that you can walk along the rocks without falling into the water to see the pictographs. Make sure you have your vehicle pass to park anywhere inside the park
Shan — Google review
Very cool place and we saw the photography. It was very beautiful rocks are very slippery. You have to be very careful wear the non-slippery shoes… I was going to tender Bay meanwhile I stopped at this place. It’s really cool. I loved it.
Harish V — Google review
Once in a lifetime experience. The hike and trail to the water is abit ruff with huge rocks and trees. Well worth it though. Be careful when out by the water as the chains are no longer there to help guide you.
Mark P — Google review
Lovely spot! I would definitely encourage to go only when is sunny because it can be challenging when is either cloudy, rainy or snowy because if you want to climb the rocks it can get slippery and could fall. There are several notices about being careful, overall the view point is also nice but you still need to go through some climbing down but only for few minutes.

This idyllic location is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a memorable wedding experience, with ceremonies set against the breathtaking backdrop of the lake and surrounding nature. Picture your special day illuminated by tiki torches and twinkling lights in a reception tent on the beach.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. It’s not for everyone, but if you love adventure and kindhearted people and getting off the beaten track this place is for you. Every meal was simple and delicious. The lodge manager is so kind and personable. The guides were kind and wonderful (especially Morgan!). Our trip had to be canceled because of wind/swells but we had a wonderful time doing day trips from base anyway. This is the kind of place you want to return to every year and I hope I can.
Deeanne A — Google review
I just completed a multi-day paddle tour with NSA. The trip was 98% excellent. Great guides (Lolo and Mike), wonderful fellow travellers, superb scenery, logistics (food, campsites, etc) were perfect, and 90% great weather. So why only 4 stars? The website description: "The lake is mostly calm in summer, but when it gets rough we enjoy the view from shore, so experience paddling in surf and big swells is not necessary." Not accurate. Our situation required that we head out one windy day (a decision made by the guides but agreed upon 100% by all the clients, myself included). We knew what we were up against. And we came through unscathed. But we did have two stretches of very rough water. A "washing machine" some of my companions called it. The NSA description should state that "Though Superior can be calm much of the time, the big lake is a capricious body of water and experience in big waves and swells is a must."

Two friends and I used their shuttle service when we hiked the Lake Superior Coastal Trail and we have only good things to say. They communicated well, were on time and provided a great service for us and our gear. They were especially helpful when someone in our group left something behind on the shuttle and they were able to accommodate a drop off so we could regain our gear without delaying our hike. They went above and beyond and I would recommend them highly when looking to get around the park!

It pains me to give Rock Island Lodge 4 stars and not 5. We adore this place. We have stayed in the Patterson Suit before (great option), but this time around the only accommodation available for our dates was the glam dome (pro tip: Book well in advance!). We booked based on our previous awesome experience. But the dome, in all honesty, is not at all glam or luxe. Nor is it near worth $160 a night. The furniture is worn, old, and stained. Like all domes, this one becomes a furnace during the day and is uninhabitable (though it cools down quick). Another irk is that communications with the lodge are godawful - I emailed and called multiple times weeks ahead of our visit to book a canoe trip, no one ever answered or responded. Such an odd thing to do, it feels as though they are actively thwarting business. Anyway, all that is to say that booking the lodge (if it’s available) is the way to go. And maybe wait until you get there to arrange tours. Regardless, this place is a slice of heaven.

Rock Island Lodge has it all. We stayed for a mere single night late July '23 but what a joy. We hiked, boated, swam and had one of the highlights of our 2 week Superior vacation. Facilities and staff second to none and fit so pleasingly in the natural beauty of the point. Off the beaten path just enough to make it quiet and private.

really enjoyed my stay at best northern motel and restaurant in wawa. the room was neat, comfortable, and felt like a nice little getaway spot. the staff were kind and made sure everything went smoothly. had a great meal at the restaurant — tasty food and good portions. the place was peaceful and just what i needed to relax. definitely a place i’d come back to and recommend to others traveling through the area.

We didn’t stay at the hotel. But we did have dinner at the restaurant and oh my! I love a good plate of curry and the food here was absolutely amazing. I had the butter chicken and my husband had the chilly chicken. Both dishes were excellent. The butter chicken curry sauce was creamy, spiced to perfection and the chicken was melt in your mouth. The chilly chicken had just enough heat to give it flavor and the vegetables were tender and flavorful. We had a naan and some house coriander dip that was refreshing and cool. The young lady that took care of us was friendly and attentive and very sweet. I highly recommend this place for excellent Indian food!

Good please to stay. Bathroom could use a refresh and update - shower/tub had paint peeled off in spots, shower curtain ragged at bottom and a few stains. But decent beds and pillows. Only 2 towels in a double room - I hate that - had to ask for more at the desk. Why doesn't a double room made for 4 people have 4 bath towels and washclothes in it??? But staff was friendly and helpful. Did not eat at the restaurant so can't review that part.

This Motel is brilliant! Nice rooms, beautiful cabins and to top it off, a gorgeous newly renovated resturant inside with a stunning view. There indian Cuisine option is top notch👌🏻 The butter chicken is the best I've ever tried. Very welcoming staff with amazing customer service. They also do take out which is great for convenience if your out on the go or just passing through town. This place is family owned and operated which makes it that much more welcoming. I will definitely be returning ☺️
