This restaurant It's a must, chickpea curry is amazing every time. I'm sure whatever you get here is always great never let me down & great atmosphere. upstairs balcony great spot for day or night out. Highly recommend.

Restaurant was full with few option where to sit. We wanted to go upstairs but we couldn't since it was full was very disappointed since a friend had suggested to dine in the second floor. The place closed early like 9 or 10 We felt like we where being chased. The food was great though. Over all it was good.
Dimmu666ist — Google review
Amazing food! We went for both lunch and dinner and the food never disappointed. If you’re on a budget I recommend both chicken and fish goujon sandwiches! They both come with salad or fries and are huge portions! The salads are to die for!

Awesome delicious dinner: fresh ingredients, beautiful presentations. However, coconut water was flat. Soursop was refreshingly good. Great service by Abner, Alex, Rose and another lady.
Culturetravel — Google review
Great place! Food was made fresh. A bit pricey for the area, but worth it if you can splurge a little. A frog or toad jumped out of the planters onto the floor a couple times, that was cool :) You'll want to get a reservation during peak tourist season.
Luis D — Google review
What a cultured oasis in San Ignacio. Don't get me wrong, street tacos are amazing but if you want to have a nice dinner with your special person on vacation in San Ignacio, this is a great choice. Take a cab because driving after these drinks is a poor idea. And definitely leave room for their cheesecake even if you normally don't...do it
John N — Google review
Nice place in town. Ran by the same people who own the lodge at chaa creek. Good local atmosphere. The cheesecake is a must try!

Wonderful restaurant with excellent service and view of courtyard. Our meals were fantastic. If you want to splurge on a nice meal on vacation this is the place to do it. Prices are very reasonable and the food is un-Beliezably fresh. You will not be disappointed.

C.W.C Bus Stop

3.9
(258)
Public transport
C.W.C Bus Stop is a convenient transportation hub for travelers visiting western Belize, offering affordable rides to nearby attractions like Xunantunich. The bus stop provides hourly and half-hourly services to Belmopan and Belize City, with nearby snack stores offering refreshments while you wait. While the waiting area could benefit from more amenities like air-conditioning, the government's efforts in maintaining the facility are commendable. It's a safe and practical choice for both locals and tourists alike.
I enjoyed, stay,a few days as a Belizean, and very delighted,of the upgrade of downtown San ignacio.they in need of more air condition waiting areas especially for elders and children.apart from that, the government is doing a very excellent job keep up the good work. see you soon.
Oscar W — Google review
Much cleaner than the other bus terminals from around the country. Bathroom fee is $1, nearby snack shops are available and bus seat hustling is a must.
Chief W — Google review
We used public transport to go to the Xunantunich Ruïnes from here, to go to some waterfalls and to Belize city. Hours are not always right, but they are coming. Easy and cheap!
Leen D — Google review
Catch your bus here to Belmopan or Belize city. On the hour or half hour. SOL if it's raining. Benches to sit on. Nice snack stores nearby. Fruit smoothies, coffee, pizza, etc.
Pauline S — Google review
Took a shuttle into San Ignacio, and wanted to try the busses to see the local experience. The good is that the busses play music and they aren't too hot even though there is no AC. The bad is that they get packed. The really bad is if you are unlucky the bus you are on may have bug infestations on them, yeah... the biting kind. Definitely the opportunity exists for shared shuttle services that are in between the expensive private shuttle and the cruddy intercity school buses but until then maybe you should stick with the private shuttle services.
Tony L — Google review
Bus stop in San Ignacio at the welcome center. Nice clean area to sit and wait for your bus to take you to your destination. In the welcome center you can find vareous stalls to get your snacks and drinks also just in walking distance it. Western Dairies San Ignacio branch.
Samuel S — Google review
Restroom costs money! Be prepared with $1 BZ! Buses can be overcrowded on busy days with standing room only. When they pull into terminal at Belmopan they ask anyone standing in the isles to act like they are seated so the driver doesn't get in trouble for over-loading the bus. It's not for everyone but I adore taking the chicken busses and meeting new people!
River W — Google review
Not much information here. You need to go online to find the latest buses times. Buses run towards the border (benque) or Belize city. Can pay on board the bus

Crave House of Flavour, located in San Ignacio, is a new addition to the dining scene and has quickly gained a reputation as one of the best places to eat in town. Chef Alejandro's culinary creations take center stage in this cozy establishment, where diners can witness their orders being prepared with care and skill. The restaurant's close proximity to downtown and The Ice-cream Shoppe makes it easily accessible.
I am still remembering the amazing hamburger that we had here. The drinks were also very good, and we loved how they had infused drinks. We liked it so much at lunchtime we came back for dinner.

Nothing negative to say here Googled this place from Canada for my sons birthday Saved it and it did not disappoint!! Food was INCREDIBLE and portions super generous The owner and service was absolutely AMAZING HIGHLY recommend!! My son said it was the best birthday meal of his life And he’s had some amazing meals

Best.Cuisine.In San Ignacio! 💥 I stand by that headline. Pros: Atmosphere feels like a true upscale bistro without being pretentious. Very robust wine selection - but we enjoyed the Sangria, which is offered as either white or red wine base. THE FOOD!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had the baby back ribs, chicken paupiette, and the chocolate roulade for desert. The meat on the ribs was fall-off-the-bone, cooked to perfection with a superb sweet+smokey housemade bbq sauce. The chicken paupiette was moist, tender and flavorful. Desert: The chocolate roulade is a dark chocolate & ice cream lovers perfection. The cake was spongey and decadent, without being dry or too cold and was filled with a light mocha ice cream. - If you don't like it, I'll pay for shipping to eat it 😀. Presentation: all of the dishes are plated and served with an eye for detail you might find in a Michelin star restaurant. Price: Worth. Every. Penny Cons: - I can't eat here every week..

We enjoyed our meals at this cute little spot. The service was also great and the atmosphere was welcoming. The food was packed with flavor and the drinks were pretty good. No complaints here.

If you’re looking for the best restaurant in the Western Highlands of Belize then this is your spot. Misael the waiter at his sister Melissa’s place will treat you to a wonderful dining experience. It could work as a romantic dinner spot for two or as a family. My wife and I ate there with our 3 children and it was amazingly delicious. My wife is vegetarian and had the carrot ginger soup as a starter and I he vegetarian risotto and loved them both. I had a salad and the short ribs risotto and they were both fantastic. I had a spicy margarita which was wonderful. They have a great selection of drinks The kids loved there meals too. The dining room is small and tight but worth the wait. Outside there is an open air bar where you can dine and drink. The decor is quaint and relaxing. They have tasty desserts but we went for ice cream next door.

This place has to be a secret gem in San Ignacio! I would have never expected this place to be one of the best places I have dined in San Ignacio. Its just a block behind Burns Avenue and from outside it might not seem appealing because I thought it was more of a bar than a restaurant. I stepped into the restaurant and it was totally empty so I wondered if the food could be any good. This friendly male waiter came up to me and presented the menu. The first thing he did was to recommend me the ribs which he told me was the signature. I didn't bother to read the menu and I took his advice. I wanted to look at the menu for desserts but I was telling myself I would only decide after the main course if it wasn't filling enough. I was quite impressed to see how well the dish was presented and I started to have high expectations of the dish. I can only say the dish did not disappoint and I really loved it! It was so tender and juicy, and it could just melt in the mouth. I was also impressed that the portion of the dish was pretty big. I was really full after the main course. The staff recommended me a chocolate dessert but I totally had no space for it. It was a good meal and I didn't find the food expensive. I recommended this place to some people during my day tour the next day, and they tried the ribs and said they loved it too. Highly recommended!

Ko-Ox Han Nah, which means "let's go eat" in Mayan, is a popular dining spot in San Ignacio Town. Despite its unassuming exterior, the restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring a mix of Indian and Belizean cuisine. The simple yet cozy ambiance adds to the charm of this establishment. Guests can enjoy dishes such as Indian curry and Belizean rice and beans all under one roof.
I stayed a few days in San Ignacio and this was by far my favorite restaurant in the area. We liked it so much, we came back for a second dinner and breakfast too. I tried the NY Strip steak first. It was cooked nicely and was delicious. I tried the pork shank next. It was absolutely amazing, fall of the bone with a wonderful taste. The lamb curry was probably my favorite and I’m not a fan of curry. Breakfast was awesome, the eggs were done to perfection, bacon was spectacular and the omelette was amazing. The servers were outstanding and very attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Mark J — Google review
This was a decent place to eat. We ended up here honestly because we were exploring the city on a Sunday. and and a lot was open. We ended up getting their lamb dishes that came recommended. One was curry and one was a Korean style beef dish. The food didn’t blow us away. It was kind of the first taste. We got of local Belize cuisine. Not the best food but we had full bellies.
Kenzie W — Google review
After getting multiple recommendations, we decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, and really good authentic cuisine. I recommend the vegetable soup and the fish. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to try the cow foot soup. We had dinner there two days in a row, and it's a 2 minute walk from Martha's guest house.
SHAZAM L — Google review
Don’t understand the hype. Didn’t find the food too nice. We ordered a chicken curry and the chicken had a funny taste we didn’t eat it. We gave it a second chance and had the pork tacos. They were nice but super mega oily and so was the plantain portion. The service is good just wish they didn’t take our plates right after we finished eating it’s of bad taste. The food also takes a while, but I think it’s a thing in Belize. Don’t go if you’re on a rush
Leonardo R — Google review
Food was great, quesadilla was huge and delicious. I had also the whole fish and my husband the chicken curry. Everything was delicious. My husband had strawberry ice cream for dessert and I had the flan. Everything was perfect. The picture shows half of the quesadilla.

Stop in for lunch after Xunantunich and we were not disappointed. The flies were tough but we were tougher My wife had a delicious pineapple rum drink. For lunch I had an enormous quesadilla that was packed with shrimp and the capers gave it a different but enjoyable twist. My wife had beef and dirty rice. Local favorite but done very well here. Pineapple yogurt shake was amazing. I had gotten it to go but it was so good I finished it right there. Plenty of fun trinket items and art to look at and buy as well if looking for souvenirs. Highly recommend. Dinner you may want to make a reservation.

Ate here twice in 2 days. Great value, taste, and customer service. I made customized requests on both occasions and they were all accommodated without any issues. Among the very best in San Ignacio!

The best meal of our Central America trip so far! The menu is expansive and varied so there's really something for everyone. Several vegetarian options, I went for the spicy eggplant dish which was absolutely delicious and the perfect level of spice. It came with a side of steamed veggies which tasted so good and the rice was perfect for soaking up all the delicious sauce. Such lovely service too and reasonably priced for the size and quality. Would visit again if we were staying longer!

Cenaida's Belizean Food is a popular eatery located in downtown San Ignacio, offering delicious and authentic cuisine. The restaurant is known for its diverse menu featuring traditional dishes such as stewed chicken, rice and beans, and the unique black soup. While the day-to-day menu offers great food, the real highlight is the daily specials which include mouthwatering options like parmesan chicken and smokey grilled pork chops.
Best food I’ve had in my travels, definitely. I had a fresh fish cooked with coconut milk and French fries and I had such a good time. Nice waiter too!!!
Louise L — Google review
A local guide recommended this local restaurant and so I had to try it. I was pretty much the only tourist in here with other locals eating so I knew that was a good sign. The food was great! I got the coconut chicken with coconut rice and salad. Very tasty and good size portion for $15dzd. The restaurant has plenty of seating. Friendly and attentive staff! Definitely try this place out if you’re in the area
Liezl S — Google review
Fantastic food that is both approachable (boneless grilled chicken breast) and unique (a mild coconut curry sauce). I had the coconut chicken. I was afraid it might be fried chicken with coconut batter but no. It was the dish described above. You’ll be surprised how great and inexpensive this place is. Much better than the restaurants on the walking street in my opinion.
Tom — Google review
They have a back patio and indoor dining. The service was fast and friendly. We started with shrimp ceviche which was good but felt like the shrimp was precooked. Chips were good. The stewed chicken was amazing and affordable. The coconut shrimp entree was shrimp in a coconut cream sauce. I enjoyed the rice and beans others preferred just their coconut rice. Had a rum and coke which was standard.

Incredible! Best stew chicken ive had in belize. Great local spot, so affordable and delicious. Friendly, kind staff (Michael was our favorite- so welcoming and made us feel like family!).

Awsome Belizean food and great service. Had the day special, which was Tamarindo Chicken, with garden salat, coconut rice, and stewed beans. Also, I got a small spicy salsa that matched perfectly with the sweet Tamarindo sauce. Total with one beer. 17.5 BZD They accept card.

Was told they are known for their coconut sauce, the information was correct. Intense flavor but not heavy or watery, we had it with chicken and fish. One son got grilled chicken with fries, chicken was tender and flavorful. Prices are very reasonable, service quick and very friendly.

Pop's Restaurant, located in downtown San Ignacio, Belize, is a beloved establishment known for its exceptional breakfast offerings. The restaurant has been serving up classic American breakfast dishes alongside traditional Belizean favorites for decades. Visitors can enjoy a hearty 'Belizean Breakfast' featuring beans, cheese, ham or bacon, eggs, and avocado served with handmade flour tortillas or Belizean fry jacks. On weekends, the restaurant buzzes with local families who have made it a tradition to dine there.
The orange juice was good. They do add water to it so it’s not 100% freshly squeezed. The flour tortillas with butter were the best! Kids like the waffles. Overall good and good prices. It’s a small place. They do take cards for those traveling.

We arrived in town early and couldn’t check in yet, so we stopped at this café on recommendation. The breakfast was delicious and exactly what we needed after an early start. Coffee refills were free, and everything was served with a smile. The place is very clean, well managed, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Another plus—no extra charge for paying by card. Had an amazing full English breakfast, I asked as a special request, the manager has family in the UK. I had 3 bacon, 3 sausage, 2 eggs, chips and heinz baked beans. I believe it's the only resturant/ cafe that does a proper uk style fry up. It's not on the menu but if you ask they'll sort it out for you!

Pops food was good we got Fry Jacks with out food, light fluffy fried bread pillows. Could have had a little more beans, and longaniza

Food was not special, but okay. Service was good. However, i believe the lady charged us double price. This was our first stop in belize and we weren’t sure if the menu was in belizean dollars or USD. So we paid in USD (exact amount) and she didn’t give back anything. Afterwards, we see all menus everywhere being in BZD… if it was in USD, then the food is overpriced, if it wasn’t, we got scammed.

This is the first place I thought of when I have an early pickup for a tour. Pop's open at 6am so its good to have a proper breakfast before going for a tour. I arrived at 6 but they weren't ready, the staff was still cleaning and moving some stuff while she passed me the menu. I heard about something interesting which I wanted to try, the Chaya. Its the Mexican Spinach which can be added into the omelette and heard it has a lot of health benefits. Took a while for breakfast to arrive but it smelled so good I started gorging. The taste of the chaya and the eggs tasted good and I added it inside the fry jacks. Totally loved the combination of that. The fry jacks were very well fried and hot. Managed to have some time still before the tour pickup. Met my expectations of a good and proper breakfast and reasonable price.

Ancient Ruins
Cahal Pech Archaeological Reserve is a significant site dating back to 1200 BCE, showcasing ceremonial Mayan temples and stunning vistas. The ruins feature corbeled arches, a distinctive characteristic of pre-Columbian Mesoamerican constructions and Maya architecture. Located near San Ignacio Town, it offers access to ancient structures, intricate stone carvings, and panoramic views of the rainforest.
Very well maintained area. Much better and bigger than expected. They let you climb these pyramids, which is a first experience for me. Do watch out though, some of them are steep, and it’s easier to get up and harder to get down. The entry fee price of 10USD is very fair for such a large and well maintained area.
Zhao L — Google review
Amazing experience. Take a cab up here and save your legs for climbing. The steps here are pretty steep. If you read in the visitor center you learn they were not made for every day climbing, that only the privilege do it. Can be slippery after a rain storm. Worthy of the $10 USD. Perhaps better if done with a guide?

This was the most breathtaking thing I've done in Belize. I had a great fortune of getting to experience the site alone, I felt like royalty. It's such a massive site, and would make a perfect day out of anyone.
Callum W — Google review
A relatively small Mayan temple site, it was occupied for most all of Mayan civilization. Very close to town, so easy to visit if you are short on time. Interesting museum and small gift shop.
Glen J — Google review
Very cool archaeological site with lots to see and tons of fascinating history. If you're considering going I recommend not buying tickets in advance. I bought mine online and there was some confusion. It'd likely be easier to have just bought them at the entrance. Definitely recommend all tourists to visit Cahal Pech!

All of the history was great! You definitely don’t need a guide if you take the time to go through the museum, which is beyond informative. It was really cool to see and learn all of the history on our first day in San Ignacio.

Nestled in the heart of San Ignacio, The Shack Cafe, Restaurant & Bar is a must-visit for anyone seeking a delightful dining experience. Renowned for its outstanding breakfast selections, this charming spot boasts a cozy beach-inspired ambiance that instantly puts you at ease. With an extensive menu that caters to all tastes—including plenty of vegetarian options—there's something for everyone here.
I had passed this spot several times earlier this year but it didn't attracted me to go in because the menu outside usually has one food written on it and I thought their menu was very limited. Anyhow, I visited this spot last week and inside was very neatly decorated. I had almost regret not booking this place for my engagement party instead. They had a very large menu ranging with tons of options even for vegetarians! I love the variety (you definitely will find something you want to eat!) and the prices are also very reasonable and affordable. The service was also excellent and staff was friendly. I ordered a small order -corn platter- as I was not too hungry and it tasted excellent. Loved the panades so much. Will definitely come back here again and recommend this place as a must visit spot if you're around San Ignacio.

If you are visiting San Ignacio this is the spot to eat. The vibe is very relaxing and serene wait staff was very nice. The Chef actually came to my table and recommended the special for the day. I am so happy I went with his recommendations ☺ My best friend also had Focaccia Shrimp sandwich. Everything was nicely presented, as well it taste as good as it look. I give this location a 10 out 10 I not only for the ambience but also the service and food. If you're reading this go ahead and stop by for either some good coffee, smoothies and some delicious meals 😌
Nicka — Google review
The service at this place ruined our day. We ordered a side salad ($8) to go with our meal expecting it to be sharable at that price. We were served about 5 or 6 bites of browning iceberg shredded lettuce with 2 slices of unripe tomato, 2 or 3 paper-thin slices of cucumber, some tiny pieces of green pepper and no dressing of any kind. When we questioned why this terrible (worst we have ever seen) side salad cost $8, we were told that the kitchen decides and all is final. We asked them to take it back and that we didn't want it (no one would want to eat this thing). We were told that the kitchen said that once plates leaves the kitchen it is final. We insisted we didn't want it but were forced to pay for it. We didn't eat a single bite of the salad because it looked inedible. The only person on staff refused to help with the situation and instead stayed on her phone the entire visit. We can not recommend this restaurant to anyone and would highly suggest going ANYwhere else for food. Based on other reviews, the owner will respond that we should have taken up any issues while there, but we did, and they refused to help in any way. The waitress said "excuse me" and ran off to sit/look at her phone 10 ft away from us behind the counter. Terrible service. Mediocre food. Way overpriced. Should be zero stars, but that is not an option. If only the "salad" charge were removed from our bill, we may not have felt the need to leave this review. $58 for a burger, quesadilla, 2 juices, and this side "salad." As the second sign clearly states: "Do Not Enter."

I had the stuffed fry jacks (but decided to forgo the beans) and a vanilla cappuccino. Both were amazing! The music is relaxing and the atmosphere is great for an early breakfast. Just 10 out of 10!

What a wonderful place I stumbled into!!!! Excellent! The food is superb and the coffee is excellent! The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful! Varied menu at great prices. Fabulous staff and extremely timely. Loved it here….we will be back!

This restaurant is totally worth a visit. Went for breakfast and if We weren’t leaving today I would definitely go back for dinner. Nice owner, Chef came by the table. Best breakfast menu. Totally 5 star restaurant

Wayne has an incredible place hidden here in San Ignacio- we just happened to stop by for a cup while passing through, but I’m so happy I took the opportunity for the breakfast fry-jack. Can’t wait to stop by again, and soon.

Don't pass up the chance to visit Mom's Backyard if you find yourself in San Ignacio! It is unquestionably the finest place to experience genuine Belizean and creole cuisine. The combination of beans and rice with fried plantains is absolutely mouthwatering. The stewed beef is incredibly tender, with a rich and savory flavor that will leave you satisfied. The Creole shrimp offers a tantalizing explosion of tastes, both complex and delectable.
We followed our noses to find this place 😋 Food smelt so good even from the road we came up the stairs and sat on the patio. Ordered burger combo with wings and fries -the habanero BBQ sauce was super yum 😋 + spicy 🥵 And traditional rice and beans with beef - beef was super juicy and tasty Service is a little slow - but well worth the wait . Don't come in a rush. Overall would def recommend

Fun little restaurant. If you want to experience local flavour, it's definitely a good place to check out. Friendly staff, good service and the food was delicious. My waitress even set and chatted with me for a while when they weren't particularly busy... Thanks Dasha! And yes, it is actually located in mom's backyard. 😉

We recently visited Mom's Backyard Restaurant in San Ignacio and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The service was incredibly friendly and the location right at the market added to the overall ambiance. But the real standout was the chicken wings - they were absolutely delicious! I highly recommend checking out Mom's Backyard Restaurant for a great meal and friendly service.

We came here twice for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. Amazing service from the mom herself (on the left) and Dasha (on the right) - they instantly remembered us on our second visit and even what we had ordered! We loved the Creole shrimp which come in a flavourful tomato sauce and fabulous beans & rice. Chicken wings are a specialty here and delicious - get them with habañero BBQ sauce if you’re good with spice 🔥

Went for dinner tonight had a burger chips and wings. Very tasty and very well priced. Staff were happy and laughing and the vibes were very nice. Would go again

GET THE COMBO!!! This is one of my go-to places just for that (Burger + 5 wings + 2 Stuffed Jalapeño- RIIIICH 🔥🔥). The only downside is the wait time so if you are in a rush I recommend ordering before arriving. There is also paid parking at the welcome center.
Jason U — Google review
Wow the wings are fire! They make most of the sauces from scratch. My daughter got the chicken tenders and those were homemade too. What a great little spot to find, good prices too.

Amazing food with the combo being the best part. Definitely recommend getting the ranch wings. The wait time for the food was so long, but the workers were very friendly

Erva’s Restaurant is a highly regarded dining spot in San Ignacio, known for its authentic Belizean cuisine and warm, rustic ambiance. Situated just 0.1 miles from The West House Boutique Hotel, this cozy restaurant offers traditional dishes like Stewed Chicken with Rice and Beans and Fry Jacks that capture the essence of Belizean home-cooking.
Came with a large group and had a great meal. The ceviche was delicious, clean crisp and flavorful. You definitely need to ask for more chips to go with it as it’s a hearty portion. The fried Chaya was also delicious, I chose it because I had never tried it before, great earthy taste and accompanied by onions and peppers. I had the BBQ pork rib, the only negative was that I felt that it was overly spiced and this took away from the taste of the BBQ. I would probably not have it again and go for the whole fried fish (Snapper) that was amazing. Service and hospitality and homemade hot sauce were exceptional. Definitely recommend if you’re in San Ignacio!

I ordered the pork and rice and beans. It was very dry. The rice and beans were fine. The chicken cordon bleu was tasty, but a small portion for the price. As someone said, it does take a long time for the meal, but it is cooked fresh. Service was okay- took a star off for taking a while with the drinks and forgetting my order.

Not impressed with this restaurant. We got curry. The service was really really really slow and you can tell people weren’t enjoying themselves. Which I’m all good with taking their time especially how they make things to order but this was beyond that. The food was a really dry as well. There wasn’t one thing I really love to be honest.
Kenzie W — Google review
It was a pretty good restaurant I had the fried fish and rice and beans. I do feel like the fish was a bit small for the price but it was cooked very well. The rice and beans was a bit salty for my personal liking but still tasted very well. The inside of the restraint was very small but nice and can get very crowded. So expect your service to be a lot slower. The drink I had was great which was the toasted almond ! I highly recommend. Overall I would come back!

Food - 10/10 Vegan/vegetarian friendly We had the rice and stew beans with chaya, and the veggie coconut curry—easily some of the best food I’ve ever had. Every bite was super flavorful. My wife usually doesn’t say much while eating, but with this meal, she was complimenting it after every bite. We loved it so much, we went back a second time. If they were open on Sunday, we definitely would’ve gone again. The vibe is relaxed, the ambiance is chill, and the staff is really attentive. Absolutely loved the place—already missing the food!

Last day in San Ignacio, had an amazing meal here. You can tell the food is made fresh and prepared with care. More variety than most restaurants in Belize, so if you have a picky eater, this is the place for you. Will definitely be back the next visit.

I was actually turned away by the restaurant when I stepped in. They asked if I had a reservation and I said no. I was told the restaurant was full and there was no place for me, but I told them I wanted to try the food here and it was my last night in San Ignacio. They told me even if I wait I might have to wait for 2 hours for food to be served because there were like 2 tables of more than 10 pax. I told them I am willing to wait, and I quickly took order while the kitchen was preparing food for the first big table, and the second table would be arriving in 10 minutes. It went well cause they managed to get me a table in a corner and the food only took 30 minutes to arrive. Probably I ordered the easier dish to prepare. The butter and garlic shrimp was flavourful and I loved the sauce so much it helped me to finish all the rice. I loved the coconut rice as well it was so fragrant and delicious. I have to say they also serve one of the better shakes I have tried in Belize. Recommended and probably good to make reservations in advance as well.

We were in San Ignacio walking in town and looking for a restaurant with AC. It was very hot and humid. We found this restaurant in Google Maps with very good reviews. It wasn’t busy. The bartender welcomed us. The restaurant was nicely decorated and had warm ambiance. The kitchen is visible and it was interesting to watch the cooks. I think that our server was not very experienced. We enjoyed our lunch. The owner introduced himself and mentioned that Erva was his mother and now retired.

Restaurant
Tandoor Indian Restaurant and Bar is a gem for those seeking excellent food and great service. The restaurant offers a wide variety of cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, making it a good place to unwind. Visitors can enjoy delicious vegetarian options like chana masala, providing a welcome change from the typical local cuisine. The attentive staff ensures that guests have a fantastic dining experience.
Great Indian food, many vegetarian options, amongst those several vegan options as well. Not all staff members know what vegan means though but they'll find someone in the kitchen who does to come explain the vegan options. Had dinner here two nights in a row because it was so tasty. As of July 2019, they also accept credit cards.

Hung out here for an entire night. When leaving, they tried to rip us off by overcharging 10 beers. What they didn't realize was that I was keeping track on my phone. We managed to bring it down a bit, but still overpaid. Stay away from these thieves!!
Spawky — Google review
Don't go there. There was a lot of locals hanging out but not eating, only smoking, and there were a couple of extra drunk guys. My husband ordered chicken curry and the chicken on the curry had bones, nerves, and cartilage. It was disgusting. The rice and beans was dried and not really warm. I ordered the whole fish and it was small. Fish was ok. The atmosphere was awful. Waitress was nice but didn't know to much about the menu.

We had a fine time. We were looking to watch an NBA playoff game. Which they let us change the channel to. Service was solid. We just split nachos and had a couple drinks they were okay nothing remarkable.
Connor L — Google review
They have dropped most of their Indian dishes. It is very noisy . Agree with the comment that the waitress did not seem to know what Indian food was. But she was attentive.
Douglas T — Google review
This is not an Indian food restaurant. Their garlic naan was just a tortilla with garlic on it. And the menu with Indian food on it was from Eva’s steakhouse. The prices were very high for what was served. The waiter didn’t speak a lot of English and the music was WAY too loud. The curry was ok but didn’t come with enough rice.
Adam P — Google review
Interesting place. Took 45 minutes for two poppadoms to come out (only 1 other customer here!) The food was tasty, but overall service was really slow and I'm sure not the waitress knew what Indian food was. We had to point at the menu and when we asked where the poppadoms were, we were told they weren't ready (something that takes 20 seconds). Overall, enjoyed the food, but the atmosphere wasn't great and the service was very slow.

Excellent food and great service. I'd been dying for good vegetarian food, so this was a little gem for me. After days and days of rice & beans, and lots of chips, chana masala was a welcome change. I know, it's basically rice and beans, but it was so good! Plus rum punch for $2.50 BZD. Everyone else seemed to be enjoying there meals as well.
