Located in the former Darboussier sugar factory on the harbor of Pointe-a-Pitre, Memorial ACTe is a contemporary museum that serves as a powerful testament against slavery and a place for historical reflection. The museum offers exhibits on the Caribbean's slave trade, indigenous people, and the struggle for freedom. Its avant-garde architecture and display of contemporary Afro-Caribbean artworks make it an intriguing destination. Visitors can also explore urban art in the Carenage district after their visit.
Very good modern museum about the history of slavery. It was opened in 2015. All information is in French and English. Audio guide automatically starts in each new room. No bags are allowed in the museum. There are lockers by the entrance they cost 1 €.

It was a great experience. Interesting and thought- provoking. The exhibits were interesting. For kids from 8-12 it was good. There was one minor issue the auto- guides got confused on which track to play. But a really good museum all in all.
Absolutely fabulous. Informative, well presented; history of the greater Caribbean Islands through the eyes of slaves. Excellent contemporary artwork. Don't miss this museum.
The exhibits were set out nicely and the fact that they had a translator ear piece was kool however after paying 15euro to enter and they didn't have water in the washroom so they were closed was a big problem for me
Fantastic exhibition and the horrors of slavery. The temp exhibition of Antoine Nabajoth paintings was worth the entrance fee alone, loved them?

Loved the layout of the place. The way the history is shared ,it feels like you are literally there while it going on. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you're a history buff,love art and culture.

The Aquarium of Guadeloupe, situated in the marina, is the largest aquarium in the Caribbean. It offers various activities such as ecotours, underwater strolls, ecological discovery courses, and even adventurous shark encounters at night. The intimate local aquarium showcases a diverse range of marine life including sharks and sea turtles.
Brilliant aquarium with a focus on local species. Loads of colourful tropical fish and it was amazing to see the turtles. If you’re going snorkelling while in Guadeloupe, this is really worth a visit to reflect on what you’ve seen out in the wild and it has lots of information about each species. Well worth a visit!

Small aquarium with focus on the local marine ecosystem. All written explanations are sadly in French only. The online audio-guide is available through the dedicated WiFi but without geolocation or other markers it’s hard to find the relevant content as one walks from one room to another. The entry price (15 euros) seems high compared to the size of the exhibit.
Very nice place and family friendly. The kids enjoyed coloring and displaying their art on their large screen. Not many animals but just enough to enjoy the experience.
This aquarium is correct but for this price it's so small and you can see small fish most of the time ... When you pay for this kind of price you deserve to have at least 1h our of visit but in 30 mn you have done...it's a shame because there is very interesting animals to see...

Great little aquarium with a small shop, nearby bar and restaurant and lots of local species on display including turtles.
A great, enlightening and educational tour. Got immersed in the fauna and flora of the Caribbean Sea. You get to watch live fishes of various species including dolphins, sea horses, turtles, lobsters.
Each station has it's narrated audio. Photos and videos can be taken but without flashes.
The facility is clean and well maintained.
The staff is welcoming, warm and friendly.
Make this a must visit place in Guadeloupe.
In size, it's quite small aquarium. But it manages to fit some sharks 🦈 in one place. Good enough to have "something to do" with kids when you're in Guadeloupe. Max spending time would be 1 hour max, so you can visit other places in one day.
Small but really nice aquarium. Felt well thought out to me and there were lots of interesting sea animals to look at. Including two giant sea turtles that really look like out of this world.

Plage de la Datcha, located in the charming resort town of Le Gosier, is a picturesque beach known for its powdery white sand and turquoise waters. The area is lined with inviting bars and a Creole restaurant offering local flavors. Visitors can enjoy amenities such as parasols, restrooms, and private cabanas for a comfortable experience.
One of the best beaches on the south side of Grand Terre. Sandy, deeper water which allows for better swimming. Go to the right side, it's more intimate and you can take photos with the family of iguanas living there. Plus, if you continue walking for 100 more meters, you get to a gorgeous staircase which is very picturesque.

Amazing beach, there are even showers you can use after coming back from the ocean to wash off the salt. You can see the Îlet du Gosier from there !!
Nice local beach in the center of Le Gosier. Parking is limited…there are tons of restaurants and shops along the beach. Water was calm. It is a good spot to chill before getting on your flight.
Beautiful soft white sand beach. Watch out for jelly fish stings-yup i experiences it and it was not fun! And go around the corner on the left is less crowded.
Parking directly on the beach and sometimes it is difficult to reach it, because of the rain and the bad flooring. Poor bars and after 19 all the people disappeared

Super good. Got the local fish fillet for my main course. Nothing crazy, but the presentation was fabulous. Don’t miss out on trying their delicious pina colada.

It’s a place where you can go for casual drinks, go on a date, dinner with friends and/or family. There was a live band there when my husband and I were there on Friday. There are many choices on the menu, the cocktails and wine list have many options also.
My husband ordered pizza with truffle, and thought it was just mediocre. We have eaten better pizza made in Guadeloupe, so the next time to go we won’t order pizza again.
My dish was a roasted duck filet. It was alright, too much ingredients were put in it that I couldn’t taste the refinement of the duck meat.
We ordered dessert. It was nicely presented. The server was nice, though she didn’t know anything about wine. We had to wait some time for someone to come talk to us about it.
The host/manager was not friendly, but I didn’t want him to bother me with that, au contraire to my husband.
Overall, it’s the happening place for people to come dine and drinks. I do like the vibe, and the food is above average. I would come back again but not often.

Beach of Petit-Havre is an intimate cove with white sand and palm trees, offering opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, and stunning views of rugged cliffs. The beach is known for its black sand and is a great spot for snorkeling to observe sea turtles just 100 meters from the coast. It's recommended to visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon due to limited shade and parking space.
Great beach for families! There’s lots of space and showers to rinse off after swimming. It’s also a nice spot if you like surfing. Just be careful the current can be quite strong, especially if you have kids. The only downside is the seaweed in the water, which can be a bit annoying.
Overall, it’s a beautiful beach we’ll be back! :)

No idea how this has such a high rating. The beach lives up to its "petit" name. There really is just a tiny usable bit and the water is full of seaweed, meaning people are really packed in there. As if that wasn't enough we saw TWO separate snakes in the water. No idea why nobody else in the reviews mentions the snake. Seems like an important point to me. Parking is also annoying and extremely limited compared to other beaches on the island. I suggest parking at the beach to the east, and then walking over.

Not too busy on week days. Has a little "secret section" when you, uppon arrival, go to the right. Great for a relaxed afternoon!
A small and fun little beach, though the road down to it is quite steep and not fun to walk back up). There is lots of sand and stones as well as coconut trees suitable for hammocks. Theres a great view of waves crashing against the side of some rocks and cliffs in the distance and a little trail to walk.
There is also a public toilet and a few huts along with a restaurant/bar.
Beautiful beach and calm waters, great for swimming. Parking is free but limited. This was our favorite beach on the island, highly recommended!

this seems to be a beach mostly used by locals which makes it less frequented - which we liked!

It's a bit confusing to find as there is a small beach on the left of the parking, which is not very welcoming. Boats parked everywhere and the whole little bay was full of algae. Then there is a beach on the right, which is much better and probably good for snorkeling, when there isn't much wind. if you wanna do some fitness, then you have the chance to use the tiny public outdoor gym with nice view over both beaches.

Really lovely museum, with very welcoming owners who add lots of interesting information and give a small tour. Fascinating and really gorgeous costumes on display! We really enjoyed our time there and watching a short video at the end!

Attentive and knowledgeable host. In places the exhibits linked with her Family History which added to the experience. In addition to displays highlighting costumes through the ages, interclass and inter-Island differences the Creole Kitchen and House gave a good insight in to life as it was. The Audiovisual seen at the end of the visit was very informative.

What a wonderful and personal museum this is to visit! They were closed by 1 hour, yet reopened just for us, and walked us through the entirety to explain everything, using English where required. They almost had as many questions of us, as he is a Professor of History and she is a Professor of English! Well worth it!
An excellent and unique museum experience in Le Gosier.
My partner and I came late in the evening and had the entire museum to ourselves.The outside architecture is a lovely art deco and colorful. We were warmly greeted by Madame Camelia herself. She was extremely helpful and informative throughout the visit to the museum which ended in a video summery in the museum's peaceful fruit and medicinal garden, next to their hand made Casa Creole. Madame Camelia really knows her stuff, and I'd advise to ask her as many questions as possible.
It was very impressive to see how she and her team were able to collect all of the clothing items, costumes, memorabilia and photos. Everything was placed chronologically and all ethnic cultures which create the Creole Guadeloupe culture, I felt were presented well. The museum kept well to the themes of traditional costumes and culture in Guadeloupe specifically. I would go back even just to visit her and her husband to say hello!
Note: It's kid/family friendly and be sure to bring cash upon entry.

Recommended to make one. We got there around 1 pm and stayed until 3:45. Not too crowded. Easy walk to the lighthouse for a nice view and ocean breeze.
This is a stunning little island. Yes, it can get crowded, but still well worth the visit especially if you come in the morning and find a place on the west side of it. To get here, you take a boat from the peer next to Datcha. It costs 6E/per person and takes 5 minutes. It runs between 9AM and 5PM. On the beach there's a restaurant which serves great food. Its only drawback is the long service time. You queue up at 11:15 to select the food you'd like and make a reservation for later on. I recommend this as the amount is limited so you might not get what you want. So is the menu. The whole food is brought up by boat at 10AM. The north side where there's a larger stretch of sand is windy, the west is hidden between trees and it's perfect for pictures. The water is shallow and full of coral, so you might want to bring shoes if you're sensitive.
Great for families. Find the dock where you can hop on the pontoon boat get your return ticket for a few euros and enjoy the tiny atoll for a few hours. Avoid crowded days for best experience.
I think it is quite overrated. Forget the idea of an exclusive paradise island. There are a lot of people and the beach is quite small (you are almost walking onto each other to reach the sea).
The first boat (9am) was 45 minutes late and the queue on the pier was obviously really long.
This little island is amazing! So many fishes and the water is so clear. You can go there to spend the whole day.
Nice plage, great views. Huge plus is the proximity of all the little restaurants and cafes of Le Gosier. The only minus is there's some seaweed floating in the water (that we have not encountered on any of the beaches on the western shores of Basse-Terre) and the bottom is partially rocky.
The restaurant is serving everything in plastic - cups, plates, cutlery! That is very sad, but I see it a lot of that practice across the island. Something should really be done - either on the city level, but also by the owners themselves - especially given that the restaurant is a rip off - the grilled fish which is everywhere 15-20EUR, is here 30EUR. I hope the place will be taken over by someone who cares for the nature, because the island itself is lovely.

I don’t understand some of the bad reviews about the $3.50 coffee—I’ve paid the same price at a simple bakery. As for that complaint about a $50–60 bill per person, you’d have to drink quite a bit to reach that amount!
This place is a must-visit for both tourists and locals. It truly offers a great combination of good food, fair prices, and an amazing setting.

This is the place of coloured houses, huts and palm trees on white sandy beaches. Between the three cities of Le Moule, Saint-Anne and Saint-François, there are places to visit and things to see and do for your whole trip.
Grande terre, what a place! Its forests, jungles, mountains, beaches. The warm natives, the roads twisting and winding to new sights and experiences. I preferred this part of Guadeloupe as the majority of the local population were not white and that for me is big and important. Their are great places to visit and wonderful people to make contact. Shame about all the tourists that just don't make the effort, they miss so much and give a really bad impression of themselves... Thank you grand terre we loved you.
Guadeloupe consists of two main islands... Grande-Terre is more settled and a bit more touristy, while Basse-Terre is quieter (a lot of Basse-Terre is also national park). I recommend getting a car so you can see both regardless of which island you stay on. And take the ferries to the smaller islands too!
In for a more authentic creole experience? Split your Guadeloupe holiday in half and tour Basse Terre. The roads, the forests, the communities are something else.

On the downside, all the infomation placcards are only in French, there aren't very many buildings and it's a bit difficult to get to if you don't have a car. If you're taking the public bus, it's a steep uphill climb with many switchbacks. They should talk to the Synogogue about opening a shortcut through their property.

Just go with the flow and don’t expect everything on the larger menu to be offered that night. My son wanted the beef hamburger and I ordered a glass of white wine along with the rest of our meal. A different waiter returned to our table and suggested the chicken burger and the rose wine as substitutes. I was also very encouraged by our original waiter to order the whole fish fried. He absolutely was insistent which I thought was hysterical so I went with it. It was the best meal I’ve had in a long time. The fish was delicate and not fried. Maybe pan fried? The black multi grain rice had a lovely light coconut aroma. My husband and son were both complimentary of their chosen dishes. The service even at 6:00 is languid. If you want a superb meal in a restaurant that all the locals recommend and can forgo the parking lot location, you will have a memorable meal. Go with an open mind and enjoy. I think it’s the type of place Anthony Bourdain would’ve loved.
As Canadian traveller to Guadeloupe this restaurant was by far my favourite it had incredible food, very warm welcome and service, and the atmosphere was amazing. My favourite experience eating in Guadalupe this restaurant is a must try.

It is just a lovely place to be! We were welcomed warmly, the music fits the laid-back style, everything was clean - perfect restaurant so far.
From cocktails to food, all our questions were answered with a smile and also some time. You couldn't ask for better service.
In the end, the cocktails, tapas, main courses and dessert were awesome. Especially the meat which we ordered bleu and it was spot on!
We also had the rougail saucisse as main which was just as amazing as the steak.

Truly there are no words to express how delicious food is served in Ti Maki. After living almost 3 months in Caribbean this is the top one restaurant. Menu is not too long and the dishes are very tempting. I ordered beef carpaccio as a starter with a passion fruit sauce, and for a main dish calamari’s in garlic, which were salty but the sauce was extremely good (take rice/purée from sweet potatoes as a side!) and my boyfriend ordered black angus steak medium rare with French fries and salad, and sauce from foie gras. We were totally full, because dishes are quite big.
Unfortunately I can’t come back because that was my last night in the Guadeloupe, but if I come back, it will be the first restaurant I will visit.
