Art museum
Located in the former Darboussier sugar factory on the harbor of Pointe-a-Pitre, Memorial ACTe is a contemporary museum that serves as a powerful testament against slavery and a place for historical reflection. The museum offers exhibits on the Caribbean's slave trade, indigenous people, and the struggle for freedom. Its avant-garde architecture and display of contemporary Afro-Caribbean artworks make it an intriguing destination. Visitors can also explore urban art in the Carenage district after their visit.
Very good modern museum about the history of slavery. It was opened in 2015. All information is in French and English. Audio guide automatically starts in each new room. No bags are allowed in the museum. There are lockers by the entrance they cost 1 €.
Paul R — Google review
It was a great experience. Interesting and thought- provoking. The exhibits were interesting. For kids from 8-12 it was good. There was one minor issue the auto- guides got confused on which track to play. But a really good museum all in all.
Laura H — Google review
Absolutely fabulous. Informative, well presented; history of the greater Caribbean Islands through the eyes of slaves. Excellent contemporary artwork. Don't miss this museum.
JJG — Google review
The exhibits were set out nicely and the fact that they had a translator ear piece was kool however after paying 15euro to enter and they didn't have water in the washroom so they were closed was a big problem for me
Rickie R — Google review
Fantastic exhibition and the horrors of slavery. The temp exhibition of Antoine Nabajoth paintings was worth the entrance fee alone, loved them?
Chris W — Google review
Essential on the island, the memorial act is to be done without fail. Museum that traces the history of the island and slavery. It's very interesting I highly recommend it. Very modern architecture and design for the structure, very big inside and air conditioning more than functional, it refreshes. Full tour minimum required 30 minutes.

Loved the layout of the place. The way the history is shared ,it feels like you are literally there while it going on. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you're a history buff, love art and culture.

The Église catholique Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul à Pointe-à-Pitre is a 19th-century church classified as a Historic Monument due to its resilient iron arches that have withstood numerous earthquakes. Situated on Gourbeyre square, this "iron cathedral" offers a unique and fantastical architectural experience.
Nice and charming church is the center of Pointe à Pitre. Parking is somehow difficult to find, but this is the case for the entire city center. Behind the church there is a small parking and with a little patience you could find a spot since people are not staying long there.

I took some shots from the window that was left open, but the worm inside is empty and amused. The Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul of Pointe-a-Pitre is a Catholic church located on Pointe-a-Pitre in Guadeloupe. Work on the construction of the new church - the old one was destroyed by Victor in 1794 - began on September 22, 1807 and continued until 1810 when it was interrupted by the British who occupied the island. Rebuilt from new plans drawn up by the architect Nassau in 1814, the building was completed on December 1, 1871. It was badly damaged in the earthquake of 1843, which required major works carried out by the architect Alexandre Petit, who came from continental France, and the public works inspector Auguste de Prémonville. Works started in 1847, they were delayed until 1853 due to problems with the design of the roof. Around 1865, a major restructuring was decided and architect Charles Trouille was entrusted, who proposed a metal frame construction manufactured by a company in France. They were completed in 1876 and the church got a bell tower. The building was listed as a historical monument in 1978 In 2019, the Safety Commission recommended closing the building due to lack of work. Roof repairs and new electrical installation were completed for the first phase of the works – at a cost of €600,000 funded by the state and the region – allowing the building to be reopened to the public in August 2020.

Spice Market

Market
The Spice Market, also known as the Saint-Antoine market, is a must-visit destination in Point A Pivre. This vibrant market offers a variety of Creole aromas and flavors that will tantalize your senses. Don't miss the opportunity to bring home some Colombo spice and fresh vanilla pods, which are highly recommended souvenirs. The market itself is located under a long metallic hall, creating a unique atmosphere for shoppers.
Great place to buy local spices, souvenirs, vegetables, herbs, rum, and trinkets. Lovely spice selections fill the aroma of the market. Vendors pulling for your attention to buy. Many stalls sell the same thing. Five to ten euros per item. Must stop for all your culinary needs! Market was open til four the day I was there.
Nathaniel S — Google review
Great market! The smell as soon as you walk in is just amazing. The vendors come to you, which is normal, but they’re really nice and give great advice.
Cece — Google review
If you are visiting on a cruise ship and walking the port area, this should be one of your destinations. A mix of both local and touristy items for sale. Much more than just spices. Lots of clothing as well. And it spills out onto a square with a beautiful water fountain and other shops. Takes up one square block.
Brian K — Google review
Friendly French speaking locals with lots of spices and other shopping items to choose from. Prices are in Euros there are some shops that will accept US in the market but I'll advice to walk with Euros, you can pay with your credit card in the built up shops. When we visited it was a sunday so not many shops where open but the market and surrounding shops was ok.
Sally — Google review
Authentic market selling spices, vanilla beans, and souvenirs. A short 5-10 min easy walk from the cruise ship pier. Sidewalks to get there are a little rough in places but passable. The market is surrounded by little shops selling clothes, hats, souvenirs, a few selling food and drinks. There was not a lot of seating around, and with two ships in port, tables were mostly already full when we got there.
Derek A — Google review
Very friendly and not pushy and very good to always buy local and the smell of all the spices is amazing worth a visit
Steven C — Google review
Nice market for tourist buys but they all sell more or less the same things. However, the vendors are all very nice there and the colours are so inviting.
Sandra G — Google review
Worth a visit if you're not going to do any other markets in Guadeloupe, because you'll generally find the exact same stuff in other places. This market is really big with lots of sellers, but be warned they are very aggressive. A seller insisted we try some Ti-Punch, and then when we didn't like it she tried to tell us we have to buy it now because we tasted it. We just walked away.

Marché de la Darse

Marché de la Darse is a vibrant and bustling market located in a picturesque setting. It offers a wide variety of fresh produce, local delicacies, artisanal crafts, and unique souvenirs. Visitors can immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere while exploring the diverse range of stalls. The market provides an excellent opportunity to sample delicious regional foods and interact with friendly vendors.
A monument near Market Darse in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, the place is surrounded by lively shops that sell crafts (decorations, bags, jewelry, nice robes)... It's worth visiting ❤️
Maryse R — Google review
A small fresh market. Produce section was pretty small. The fish section looked pretty good as they were lively and also tons of lobsters available!
Travelbug — Google review
It appears that this spot sadly turned into a tourist trap. Bought some overpriced unripe mangos that tasted like lemons, a bland papaya and a bunch of other tropical fruits that were less than impressive. Rude merchants, - not speaking French didn't help either. But you can be as rude as you please, I can take it. But sour unripe mangos? That's sacrilegious!

Marina Pointe-à-Pitre

Marina
Marina Pointe-à-Pitre is a vibrant destination located near Pointe-a-Pitre on the south coast of Grande-Terre. It offers a wide range of water activities such as jet skiing, kitesurfing, boat trips, paddle boating, and snorkeling. The Guadeloupe Aquarium in the marina is the largest in the Caribbean and offers various experiences including ecotours and underwater strolls.
Good place for walking around and trying out some better restaurants in the city. Seems like a fancy neighborhood altogether for Pt. a Pitre
Romulus C — Google review
Nice & well equipped Marina, Friendly people. Clean, well equipped, and fairly new catamaran we got
Shyh L — Google review
Wonderful stay at this Marina. We are American, with a big old monohull and no bow thruster. We were worried about Med mooring as we're used to docking with finger piers, and we were worried about our French not being great. When we hailed them on VHF in terrible French, the portmaster immediately asked if we wanted to speak English. He made us feel so welcome and safe. They have a runabout specially designed for helping guide your boat into the berth. They even have 110 if you need it for electricity. This is a fantastic marina for foreign vessels. There is a grocery and bakery right there, as well as laundromat and dozens of restaurants, all in walking distance. Marina is centrally located so you have access to the rainforest of Basse Terre as well as the beaches of Grande Terre. One of the best experiences we've ever had at a marina. Wonderful people, affordable prices, great constantly updated facilities, perfect location. Highly recommended. Photo is us at the welcome dock :)
Sara L — Google review
From the practical standpoint this marina is convenient as it offers clearance, fuel, dinghy dock, opportunity to provision (Carrefour Express, several boulangeries), few restaurants, chandlery, and toilets. But (as others mentioned) the water smells, the toilets need more frequent cleaning, the supplies are limited, there is only one clearance computer - so the wait can be long. There is a lot of room for improvement.
Pawel S — Google review
The dockmaster was quite unpleasant. Docking is done using a bow mooring buoy, with a line attached to the front of the boat. There are some good restaurants nearby, though they tend to be on the pricier side. A small but reasonably priced Carrefour is also available in the area.
Moksii — Google review
Among worse and dirtiest showers , the water for the dock /boats is sometimes yes sometimes no..my advice.. Avoid it.. at anchor is way better.
Cold S — Google review

I was looking for a new restaurant to take my girlfriend to for her birthday and I found this one while checking Google Map and decided to give it a try and my girlfriend and I were surely not disappointed. The ambiance was chilled and comforting. The workers were friendly, social, and professional. The wait time was really short compared to other restaurants I've been to. I'm surprised by how quickly we received our meal and the food was delicious 😋 , I will surely be going back. 💯

Extremely nice experience spent on this restaurant each time was passing it's gates as it is on a very beautiful location on the Marina bay. The food is absolutely spectacular, especially the beef steaks. They have also a great selection of wines and the deserts are absolutely tasty. We were there for lunch, 2 persons, and had the entrecote. 24 euro. The meat was tender, but not the very best we have had in the Point a Pitre area. I still would recommend the restaurant, the waiter was friendly and the setting is very nice.
Nettan H — Google review
Food is tasty and a little high, priced about right for the waterfront location. However, they overcharged us 3 out of the 4 times we ate there and had to repair the bill (the last time they just handed us the cash difference instead of trying to refund the card), be sure to read your bill carefully before handing over the card/cash as they put a lot of other people's alcohol on our tabs each time. Love the atmosphere and the staff is friendly, some speak English and the (best part) the patio is dog friendly.

Quai ouest is a great setting, down by the Marina. Has a good drinks selection and has local Gwada Beer on draught Service needs a big improvement, can be waiting upto 30 to 45 mins being served then an extra 15 to 20 mins for a drink even if you only order 2 beers. This doesn't matter how busy it is whether they have 5 tables or 40 tables full Going to pay is also a choir, make sure you get up to pay 15 to 20 mins before you plan on leaving as you can be waiting a while Quai ouest has lots of potential if they can be more attentive and speed up. This will benefit them a lot Update, this place goes from bad to worse, sat here still waiting for service after 35minsnof waiting

Lebanese restaurant
Restaurant Fairouz is a delightful establishment with a pleasant atmosphere and generous portions of top-notch Lebanese cuisine, such as hummus, vegetarian dumplings, and chicken skewers. They also have the capability to host events and accommodate large parties. Located at 17 rue Jean-Jaures in Pointe-a-Pitre, this charming colonial house painted white and red offers a refreshing alternative to the prevalent Creole menus found elsewhere in town.
The food here is excellent. The skewers were savory and had a beautiful grilled taste. The hummus and babaganoush were fresh and tasted Smokey and savory as well. The salad and rice were also prepared well. This place is a hidden gem. Definitely worth the trip.

At Bella Vita, an Italian restaurant in Munich, customers enjoyed a variety of pizzas including pepperoni and mushroom/ham. The quality of the pizzas was excellent, although some diners weren't particularly fond of the cheese. The friendly waiter provided great service throughout the meal. With its doors open until 9pm, patrons were pleased to find Bella Vita still accepting orders late into the evening.
A popular choice with good reason. Beautiful place and decor, very clean and neat. The servers are very attentive and speak French and English. I had one of the best lasagnas outside of Italy (and better than many places in Italy as well!). My girlfriend had a spicy burrata pasta, made with Rhum, also very delicious. True Italian ingredients with a Guadeloupean twist here and there. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to eat.

Day 2

Center of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Aquarium of Guadeloupe, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Musée départemental d'Art et d'Histoire (MUSARTH). All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Nature & Parks
The Aquarium of Guadeloupe, situated in the marina, is the largest aquarium in the Caribbean. It offers various activities such as ecotours, underwater strolls, ecological discovery courses, and even adventurous shark encounters at night. The intimate local aquarium showcases a diverse range of marine life including sharks and sea turtles.
Brilliant aquarium with a focus on local species. Loads of colourful tropical fish and it was amazing to see the turtles. If you’re going snorkelling while in Guadeloupe, this is really worth a visit to reflect on what you’ve seen out in the wild and it has lots of information about each species. Well worth a visit!
AlistairF — Google review
Small aquarium with focus on the local marine ecosystem. All written explanations are sadly in French only. The online audio-guide is available through the dedicated WiFi but without geolocation or other markers it’s hard to find the relevant content as one walks from one room to another. The entry price (15 euros) seems high compared to the size of the exhibit.
Pawel S — Google review
Very nice place and family friendly. The kids enjoyed coloring and displaying their art on their large screen. Not many animals but just enough to enjoy the experience.
Rosalyn H — Google review
This aquarium is correct but for this price it's so small and you can see small fish most of the time ... When you pay for this kind of price you deserve to have at least 1h our of visit but in 30 mn you have done...it's a shame because there is very interesting animals to see...
Neiyhdie N — Google review
Great little aquarium with a small shop, nearby bar and restaurant and lots of local species on display including turtles.
Bjørn — Google review
A great, enlightening and educational tour. Got immersed in the fauna and flora of the Caribbean Sea. You get to watch live fishes of various species including dolphins, sea horses, turtles, lobsters. Each station has it's narrated audio. Photos and videos can be taken but without flashes. The facility is clean and well maintained. The staff is welcoming, warm and friendly. Make this a must visit place in Guadeloupe.
Gerard S — Google review
In size, it's quite small aquarium. But it manages to fit some sharks 🦈 in one place. Good enough to have "something to do" with kids when you're in Guadeloupe. Max spending time would be 1 hour max, so you can visit other places in one day.
Alda K — Google review
Small but really nice aquarium. Felt well thought out to me and there were lots of interesting sea animals to look at. Including two giant sea turtles that really look like out of this world.

Plage de Bas du Fort is a cozy inlet with a sandy beach, offering activities such as diving, jet-skiing, and boating. It is accessible through the hotel Fleur depee, providing a calm and pleasant environment surrounded by coconut trees. Finally got the opportunity to see the inside. Free entrance on the occasion of the carnival costumes display. Would have liked to see more information about this particular event in social media if this is not being done. A few people who live in Guadeloupe weren't aware, this is a pity. This said, hoping there will be a lot more events similar to this one so that we look at more than the story of John Perse.

The museum is housed in a beautiful 19th century colonial residence, classified as a historic monument, which recalls the buildings of New Orleans. You can admire the poet's personal objects, as well as Creole costumes and period furniture. The garden houses the poet's mask, made by the sculptor Andras Beck. The museum also offers temporary exhibitions and cultural events. The Saint-John Perse museum is a pleasant and informative place, which allows you to discover the life and work of a great writer, as well as the history and culture of Guadeloupe. I recommend it to all lovers of literature and heritage (Original) Le musée Saint-John Perse est un lieu culturel et historique qui rend hommage au poète et diplomate guadeloupéen, prix Nobel de littérature en 1960. The Musée départemental Victor Schœlcher, the oldest museum in Pointe-à-Pitre, was established in 1887 to commemorate the notable politician and abolitionist who advocated for the end of slavery in Guadeloupe and throughout the Caribbean. Located in the historic district of Pointe-à-Pitre, this museum offers a glimpse into Guadeloupe's history of slavery and sheds light on Victor Schœlcher's life and accomplishments.
A fascinating collection of Art from around the world whilst telling the history of Guadeloupe and the Caribbean.

We went there with my mother during the week in the morning at 9:30 a.m., there is no parking but I found a space in front easily. At reception I was well received, at the moment entry is free so it's worth it because if you take the time to read carefully it takes 1h30 if it's just a visit to look I would say 45 min . It's three floors and there is air conditioning strong enough to preserve the works, so bring a vest for those who are cold like me. It was super interesting and enriching.

The Yacht Club is the only upmarket restaurant that I found within walking distance from my apartment close to the cruise terminal. It has nice views over the harbour and a pleasing minimal decor. The service was very attentive and the food was good. I had a large portion of duck and side dishes for a more than reasonable price. Highly recommend should you be somehow stranded in Pointe-a-Pitre (which has a flavour of a rundown and decaying city).

The cod fritters are delicious but the service was awful. The tall guy with the blonde hair was very rude. My friend tried to ask a question but he put his hand in her face and said no no no. Our drink order was completely wrong. There was a female bartender that was very nice and got the second drink order correct. Food was not worth the attitude from the blonde guy, I don't recommend it.

This restaurant, located in a residential neighborhood, offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Housed in an old home, it has a unique atmosphere that is perfect for a romantic evening or special occasion. The menu features creative dishes and handcrafted cocktails, including mojitos with a chef-made syrup infused with island seasonings. Their four-course dinner includes delectable options like corn bread butter and gumbo soup, which is highly recommended.

We had dinner here Saturday night. It's a really unique restaurant in an old home of a residential neighborhood. It has a very relaxed and special atmosphere great for a date night or special dinner. We had mojitos with a special syrup made by the chef with seasonings from the island. Then we had their 4 course dinner with a small corn bread butter, a gumbo soup which was the best, my husband had veal and I had Thai curry shrimp. They allowed me to swap out the dessert for a drink due to my food allergies. The food was good but the atmosphere was better. Definitely recommend

The Monument du Premier Jour commemorates the arrival of the first Indians in Guadeloupe on December 24, 1854. Following the abolition of slavery on May 27, 1848, freed slaves settled in the city and established their own agricultural ventures. This monument serves as a tribute to this significant historical event and honors the contributions of these early Indian settlers to the cultural tapestry of Guadeloupe.
A simple monument just off the Place de la Victoire.

Délices Nature is a cozy vegan restaurant and bakery that focuses on serving healthy, local, and vegetarian cuisine. The menu features dishes like risotto with mushrooms, soya, and green bananas in a surprising sauce. In addition to savory options, they also offer fresh juices, smoothies, ice cream, sorbets, sandwiches, and pies. The friendly staff creates a welcoming atmosphere for patrons to enjoy comforting homemade vegan food.
A very cozy vegan restaurant and bakery with homemade food, bread and pastries! The owner was such a sweet lady who was so accommodating and made us feel welcome and comfortable and did her very best to translate for us since we did not speak French ❤️ The food was very comforting and filling! The juice was fresh and the pastries tasty. We met some very friendly locals which added to the experience. Very lucky to have this place to go to for comforting vegan homemade food in Guadaloupe!!

We just had a fantastic meal (see picture) here and I feel compelled to let everyone know about this special place. To be mentioned: - it was all local products (not shipped by container from France) - it was a traditional Guadeloupe plate! I admit until now, after 10 days of restaurants here, I thought the only traditional plates were rice/chicken, rice/cow meat, rice/fish. But I was proved wrong by Mignonette the owner. Which by the way is an absolutely delightful lady, very polite, gentle and generous, worth the visit just to meet her. Also she offered more food, included in the menu price. But the quantity had been enough and we had no more. Within the menu we also received a juice of choice and dessert. We are looking forward to be back on the island to visit again. The restaurant is near the harbour, you can have a nice walk under palm trees 1 minute away from the restaurant after lunch. You know, digestive walk :)

My wife and I each had a veggie burger and they were delicious! The bun was fresh wheat bread and the "burger" tasted homemade, plus they were only 4 euro each.

We went to Delices Nature, finally a great vegan restaurant with delicious food, we enjoyed ourselves. The apple tart was amazing, un delice . 🤗 Friendly environment and the owners speak English. We were well received.

Really nice vegetarian food (which is not easy to find on Guadeloupe) and very friendly staff :-) The have one menu per day, a plate full of about 5 different types of vegetables/dishes. Local cuisine made veggie!
Carina K — Google review
This place is all vegan and lovely staff but the food was bland and it was nearly €70 for three meals + drinks. I would not go back ):
Gab S — Google review
Wonderful vegetarian meals served by a kind staff. Pastries on site may be purchased from the case.

Amazing food and great service. Despite our lack of knowledge of French, the team did their very best to accommodate us. We enjoyed it so much, that we came back a second time. The beef stew was truly amazing! Thanks!

A great place that was our "official canteen" when we were preparing a boat there. Friendly people, good food (fish!) and a very yellow room!
