Beaches
Javo Beach La Playita is a family-friendly sandy beach known for its shallow shoreline and calm waves, making it perfect for families. It's less crowded than other nearby beaches and offers a tranquil setting with crystal clear waters. Visitors can enjoy grilled seafood at the beach shacks and arrange boat rides to explore other beautiful beaches in the area. For those seeking adventure, horseback riding along the shoreline is also an option.
I had a great time at Javo Beach La Playita, the locals called it La Playita. There is a nice restaurant with food and drinks. There is another area where they sell local food or comida criolla and drinks as well. The food in both areas tastes good. They both have outdoor seating on the beach and under the shades of trees so you can enjoy your food and drinks in a beautiful, clean, relaxing environment overlooking the crystal clear ocean water among many other people. This is a place to be enjoyed by everyone, individuals, and families including children. You won't want to leave this place.
Lenny R — Google review
Extremely beautiful turquoise water and fine, powdery sand but only on about 300 meters which obviously, was taken by the hotel. Everywhere else it's packed with seaweed and there is grass in the water so impossible to swim!
Tamara C — Google review
Beautiful, relaxed beach with good parking and services if you want them. We tried snorkeling but didn't see a lot. Still a great view and a great place to swim.
Renee S — Google review
Very nice and quiet beach. A couple of restaurants right on the beach. Also, there is a beach bar if you want to sip on a piña colada while enjoying the view. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to relax.
Shahar C — Google review
This beach is about a mile away from town, so it's nice and quiet. It has beautiful clear water with an epic view of the mountains!! I loved it here. The sunset was also very beautiful! The water seemed just a little bit cooler than it was on the opposite side of the Samana peninsula, but for those who don't like the very warm Caribbean water in the summer time, you'll probably like this!
Julia R — Google review
One of the most beautiful beach in Las Galeras. Lots of people, somehow crowded, but It did not compromise. With restaurant, tents with massage, beach chairs to rent. Lots of amenities to enjoy. The food at Isabel Restaurant was amazing. Fresh fish with lots of side dishes. Ask the locals to indicate the place.
Claudio T — Google review
I absolutely love this beach! Clean beach, super friendly staff, delicious food and drinks. My all time favorite in Samaná (aside from Playa el Rincón)

Nice little beach. The bottom is a little rocky, but the rocks are not sharp and mostly covered with seaweed. Find a sandy space and float and bask in the sun

Bahía de Las Galeras

Beach
Prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey to Bahía de Las Galeras, a hidden gem along the stunning coastline of the Dominican Republic. This exclusive excursion invites you to indulge in sunbathing, savor local delicacies, or dive into thrilling water sports. Starting from Gran Paradise Beach Hotel, you'll make your way to Fronton Beach—renowned for its breathtaking beauty and nestled within Cabo Samana National Park. Here, you can snorkel amidst vibrant coral reefs for an unparalleled underwater adventure.
That beach is unbelieveable. One of the best Dominican beaches! The color of the water, the sand, palmtress. And usually it is few people just there, some locals and tourists. We spent there couple of hours and didnt want to leave. Definitely worth to go!!!
Ada K — Google review
Nice beach with amazing fine and white sand. We were there on a cloudy day and it was still an amazing day. Unfortunately the sand doesn't continue all the way into the sea, there are some rocks and corals as soon as you enter the water.
Michaela V — Google review
Really had a wonderful time! The beach is very beautiful. I enjoyed stargazing at this beach
Hamlet C — Google review
Great tiny little beach that is right in town. Plenty of excursion nearby, including local tour guides that will take you to beaches that can only be reached by boat or hiking. There a few small little bar areas to grab a drink later in the evening if you want to enjoy the sunset on the beach as well.
Robert S — Google review
Las Galeras is one of the top 20 beaches in the DR and a safe one to enjoy the sand, water, with relative calmness and access to bars and restaurants. When getting to the marked location, si usually turn right and keep rolling until finding a quiet spot. Lately, sargassum has been impacting the beach but either way, the quality of the sunset and overall experience is still good. You take some folding chairs, drinks and small speakers and enjoy with your group. Be aware on that loud music could be playing from locals which can vary your enjoyment. This is a dog-friendly spot and I recommend visiting it. When in the area, you can also visit playa Rincon, Garganta del Diablo, and the Marble Mines.
Erick C — Google review
The view is magnificent, but that doesn't save the beach. There are rocks and seaweed a-plenty, and the waves are strong enough to knock your breath out. If you're looking for a place to have a drink, with a great view, this could be your spot, if you can't find anything closer.
Esteban R — Google review
Right at the end of the road in town, this beach is a beautiful spot to lounge in the sand, enjoy a meal under a palm tree, or find a boat tour to elsewhere on the peninsula. Come prepared to pay beachfront prices and deal with lots of tour guides selling their services. The water is shallow and has lots of rocks and seaweed. But the sun and sand are just what you'd expect from a Caribbean beach.
Brendan F — Google review
Was there off season end of May. Super quiet and maybe a bit seedy. Finest, most beautiful sand I saw on Samana though (including Coson, Levantado, Rincon). Looking back I would've spent less time at Rincon and more here. Not that Rincon wasn't beautiful.

La Bodeguita is a delightful culinary gem that offers an inviting atmosphere with a sun terrace and picnic area, perfect for soaking up the sun. Located within the Arena Oceanview Hotel, it provides guests with opportunities to rent bicycles and engage in exciting water sports like windsurfing and horseback riding. For those seeking relaxation, there's a wellness center complete with a jacuzzi and hot tub.
Great variety of food and amazing service. We had dinners here during our entire stay and loved it. Great options for Tapas, main course, dessert as well as Drinks !!! You must try it. Cherry on top: most reasonable price we had for meals on our entire vacation.
Mahoor R — Google review
Decent food at a good price. Nothing that blows you out of the water but still good. The pina colada was not very good, had a punch of pineapple filaments and also didn’t taste enough like coco. At 200 pesos tho we couldn’t complain.
Arthur B — Google review
We arrived in Las Galeras late mornng and soon wandered into town to get some lunch. La Bodeguita was the first place we came to and looked lively. I also checked that it's map review rating was good. We had a good tapas meal with a beer and glass of wine. The place is buzzy and friendly and busy. We also liked the mains we had on our 2nd visit. All reasonable priced.
Eric B — Google review
Lobster meat is chewy, probably needs extra 5 min cooking. Chow suey and fried rice not good. Service is good. Sorrano ham is good with cheese. Service is excellent.
George C — Google review
The most delicious food we’ve found in the area so far. Tried a burger and plantain chips—delicious! Also had mango ice cream, which was very unique as it had less sweet, real mango flavour. Our server was very friendly and helpful as well. Highly recommend this place!!
Noor S — Google review
La Bodeguita is located on the "main street" towards the beach. The restaurant is nicely decorated and you can feel the Caribbean charm. Even though the owner is from France, there is still plenty of Caribbean food. The food there is very very good. It has a very good quality and is tasty. Fish dishes are of course recommended. The portions are large and the prices are normal. So compared to Europe very cheap. You can enjoy it. The cocktails are also very good. These are freshly prepared with the necessary fruits. Price absolutely top. The service was attentive and always on the spot. You can park here well on the main road with your car.
Travel R — Google review
Nice food, we tried few positions on the menu and most things were tasty. Mains are not entirely to my liking - pork was dry, beef steak lacked seasoning. During our first stay the cocktails were great, you could really taste alkohol in them, for a reasonable price too. On our last visit we were served drinks that, in my opinion and I can definitely taste the difference, were without alkohol ;) After we mentioned that to the waiter we were given some shot to add to the drink but it made the visit less pleasant. If I pay for an alkoholic drink, I expect it to contain alcohol.

Public beach
Playa Rincón, located in the Dominican Republic, is a must-see destination in Samana. Accessible by car from Las Galeras, this beach boasts miles of pristine sand and offers a memorable experience, especially in the afternoon. With a panoramic view of the coast, Playa Rincón features crystal-clear waters where a river meets the ocean. Visitors can savor freshly prepared seafood and even try catching their own crabs.
Very nice beach with a great panoramic view of the coast. On the far left side of the beach is a crystal clear river that flows into the ocean where you can have freshly prepared seafood and even catch your own crabs if you wish. The beach is relatively untouched and has some build up of seaweed on the sand but still an awesome place to experience.

David J — Google review
Nice beach.. walked there from las Galeras (hike was almost 2 hours passed by some beautiful beaches. Need at least sneakers cause it goes up and down through gravel roads in between.
Becci L — Google review
This is where the river meets the sea. You'll have the ocean on your right and the mixed water lake on the left. The lake is pretty much not salty. The lake water is cold an refreshing unlike any over experienced before. You have about 5 different places to order food from, but its mostly the same food, just different cooking styles. You can order, fried fish (it's enough fish for two people), the fish can also be cooked in a coconut milk sauce, fried plantain, rice (with with red beans or mixed with pigeon peas cooked with coconut milk which I highly recommend), and lobster. There are other food selections, but I don't know them all. Also, there is a high possibility there will be foot vendors... BUY THE COCONUT BREAD. Aside from that have fun and plan for a long say. Unless you go with a paid, timed, tour which might leave you feeling rushed.
José B — Google review
This is one of my favorite places in the DR, it's a magical place where you can enjoy the nature and a awesome beach! I'll definitely come back!
Nazaret R — Google review
One of the most spectacular beaches I have ever seen, beautiful blue water, soft perfect foot forming sand, quite, virtually empty, clean with no seaweed or jellyfish. Not the easiest to get to, we rented a car and had no issues well worth the extra drive.
Josh — Google review
This beach is absolutely one of the most beautiful au natural beaches I've ever been to. The best part is how the locals care for their beach and keep it clean, unlike many other beaches in the DR
G P — Google review
It's beautiful, great view... But if you are with babies it is not a good idea.... The food was very good (a little bit expensive)

La Playita Restaurant & Beach Bar offers fantastic food and top-notch service at inexpensive prices, making it a great choice for beachgoers. The menu features delicious dishes like lambi a la criolla con tostones and pollo a la plancha con vegetales. Visitors can also rent beach chairs from the restaurant for added convenience. Additionally, the owner is known for being very accommodating and providing valuable tips for exploring Las Galeras.
Only had drinks, they were good, excellent location on the beach
Isai G — Google review
The only place you can have something to eat at while at the beach. Prices are a bit high, which is to be expected, shrimp with garlic is good, French fries and chicken are decent. The owner is very nice, rest of the staff sometimes partially motivated. You can rent beach chairs from them for 150 pesos per chair.
Julia K — Google review
The grilled chicken was perfectly grilled and the fries were good. The beautiful view of the beach, and friendly staff made it enjoyable. To top it off, a friendly dog became our entertainer, stealing a fry or two! Definitely recommend this place where even the four-legged patrons join you for dinner!
Noor S — Google review
The food is way overpriced. For spaghetti RD$1600. The atmosphere is nice next to the beach.
Michaela V — Google review
Bad, unfriendly service. I got a small water and a cappuccino that tasted horrible and was ultra weak. I noticed a side discussion on how much change I was supposed to get, which left me feeling like I was overcharged. Not sure if the parking guy is from the restaurant, but that was another scamming experience. I pull in and he immediately asks for 200 pesos. After I complained that it was very expensive, he tells me 100 pesos is fine. When I was leaving, a family was leaving as well and the man told the parking guy if he was going to make him pay and the guy said anything he can give him is fine, 50 pesos is fine. But confronted him about charging me 100 pesos and he said he’s a totally honest gentleman. Gross.
Alexandra O — Google review
Price is very good. I had dish of the day. Chicken is well seasoned and filled me up. Atmosphere is amazing. They may close near the sunset but please stay on the beach. You can see an amazing sunset from there.

Fantastic food and service! Francis took our order and delivered a “home run”! We ate “lambi a la criolla con tostones” and “pollo a la plancha con vegetales”. “lambi” = conch “pollo” = chicken The food was amazing. Francis provided top notch service. The prices are inexpensive. Other beaches charge 2 & 3 times the price. We will definitely return.

C.L' Aventura De John is a spacious and cozy restaurant run by Francis, a French national, and his wife Deni. The place has typical cane ceilings and is located just a few meters from the beach. They offer wood-fired pizza, pasta, burgers, and meats with attentive service in a pleasant atmosphere. This dining spot in Samana offers a unique culinary experience with a mix of local and international dishes served in a relaxed setting.
Excellent Fish Ceviche. We came back for it a few times while we stayed in Las Galeras We enjoyed our meal here. Their rice is also really good. Not sure what the secret is. Service is a bit slow when they are busy, but that's pretty standard everywhere in RD. Would recommend
Frank C — Google review
This restaurant was a great find. We had many dinners here while in Las galeras and we tried almost everything from the menu. The food was always tasty. We recommend the meat(Filete de res and the entrecôte) and the sea food plater. The cocktails are great also(daiquiri cinola and pinacolada)Francis and his wife are great hosts. Good quality price ratio. We recommend this place full heartedly. Other people mentioned having to wait to be served but as this is a family owned businesses, everything is fresh, and prepared on the spot and even more, the place is comfortable, and the atmosphere is good so we didn’t mind the wait.
Diana P — Google review
I recommend that restaurant. The food is delicious and the waiting time is not long. There’s also very kind and friendly waitress Nina.
Basia — Google review
The food was fine, tasty. The guy who served us tried to be nice and attentive, unfortunately the effort didn’t meet standard (ours) expectations. Three times asked for the water - none arrived. Waiting for the menu longer than you would like to. Waiting is a term there, it’s actually a waiting room rather than a restaurant. To be fair, the service is not that different than other places. However charging it, it’s a cheek and a laugh to our face.
Lukas B — Google review
First time coming to this restaurant and I was not disappointed. Food tasted fresh, delicious, and the atmosphere was was what you would expect. Located right on the main street of Las Galeras, this twist on French/Dominican fusion is delicious. We even tried the dessert of the Chocolate Mouse (not pictured...sry we attacked it immediately) and it was amazing!!! Will be coming here again on the next trip. Now as for pricing it is medium price range compared to other restaurants in the area, but worth the few extra pesos!!!

Las Galeras Village ecolodge

Villa
Ecological park
Located on the Samana Peninsula, Playa Rincon can be reached by a 30-minute boat ride or drive from Las Galeras. The road is mostly paved and well-maintained, though it becomes dirt and potholed near the beach. Las Galeras Village, situated just 4 km away from the beautiful Caribbean coast, offers a range of amenities such as a private pool, spacious family rooms, and meticulously maintained gardens.
My family of four and I stayed at Las Galeras Village for a month, and there is nothing we would have changed. Everything was clean, and the hospitality was exceptional. We felt at home. The wine and cheese experience at the cave was unforgettable. The team is truly one of a kind.
Zaliris M — Google review
We spent our honeymoon in this villa and we are very happy that we made such a good choice! Believe me, after this place you will not be able to live in any other! 1) Location. Here are the most beautiful beaches: azure water, white sand, no waves and total privacy! These beaches will bring you much more pleasure than any other beaches in the Dominican Republic. 2) Safety. Here is probably the safest place in the entire country. First, the road to Samana is toll-free and it is simply not profitable for thieves to spend so much money :) Secondly, the owner was able to recreate the feeling of a small personal eco-village with all the necessary infrastructure and protection. Gates, cameras, security in the form of a caretaker - you can feel as safe as possible and not worry about your things. 3) Villa. All the villas in this eco-village are beautiful. There were two of us, but the villa was very large and roomy. It had everything we needed and more! We were able to cook any meal we wanted, make coffee, make toast and smoothies all month long. My husband loved the hammock and we had breakfast on the veranda. 4) Infrastructure. The territory has everything: swimming pool, Jacuzzi, restaurant, mini gym, laundry, parking. You can order food delivery from restaurants in Las Galeras, you can rent a motorcycle/car, you can book a tour - all without leaving the villa. 5) Staff. Manuel, the caretaker of the settlement, will help you with everything! From settling in, to renting transportation or any tips. Answers all questions instantly, helps instantly. We were not the quietest tenants and constantly texted Manuel. He was patiently courteous and helped us with everything. Change of comment author: My wife has excused herself and I will continue to write a review of life at the villa. So, it was said above that I liked the hammock. That's right, it was especially lucky to lie and relax in it while my wife was going to the beach. Usually, it takes my wife an hour to get ready for the beach, but sometimes the time extended to 90 minutes. You know, when you are lying in a hammock, no problems in life bother you anymore. I think the owner of the eco-villa has an excellent understanding of female psychology and knows how to help a man not to get bored during long waits. In addition to the hammock you will find a gym, billiards, swimming pool and Jacuzzi. After such an abundance of everything, the wife can gather even the whole day, you will have something to do throughout the period. I would like to pay special attention to the servants. For 20 dollars and a polite smile to the ears, you will clean the entire house, replace linens, towels, wash dishes, wipe the dust, disinfect from insects. I am quite picky about cleanliness and according to my observations, the result of cleaning is top notch. In addition, the maids will do their kindness and wash your clothes. This was very nice of them, they are always very polite. -- If you read this review and are still in doubt, then put all hesitation aside and book urgently before some lucky person books the villa before you!

I really enjoyed my stay here! The units were beautiful; clean, spacious and comfortable! The location is absolutely beautiful (you have a beautiful view if you walk up the hill). The pool is nice too. There's drinking water in the facility. In the kitchen, they have most necessities ( including blender and sandwich maker...but no kettle or microwave oven). Note that you have to pay $10 USD to get your rooms cleaned but they do an excellent job. What i didn't like was that they didn't provide toilet paper/shampoo aside from what was there on the first day which wouldn't last long. You're paying a nightly fee which means this should be available. They also charge for new sheets/towels.I understand that they intend to be eco-friendly, but this is not the way to go. Also, you cannot pay with card (only cash and PayPal... And they try to charge you for PayPal fees).

4 towels for 6 people, 1 tiny jug of water . Bring your own food plates and cups and water . Amazing views , games room and gym had just enough! All in all it was beautiful but could use a couple extras for the cost . I'd go back but prepared.

This place has such an amazing potential. In the begining we were really excited about our vacation in Las Galeras Village. But in a closer look, it became a nightmare. The jacuzzi on the roof twice didnnt work and in the third time, there were no hot water. The pool was dirty and needs a deep cleaning. The beds were awful! The kitchen was missing alot of facilities... this place saw better days. Won't come back!
Rinat S — Google review
We had such a wonderful time, a perfect service, that topped our expectations, very lovely, communicative and well organized. We enjoyed an amazing view on the ocean from the roof terrace, a very comfortable room, delicious original Italian food and awesome peaceful and clean nature surrounding the entire spot. Thank you so much for this great holiday :-).

It was really a wonderful experience staying at Las Galeras Village. We were super lucky to have had such a lovely relaxing break from everything and come to this beautiful place. Charlyne was so friendly and accommodating, and always very helpful. We texted her every time we needed something, and she was always ready to help! The host, Sergio, is an amazing person! And so is his wonderful family! The house we stayed in is a beautiful villa with attractive gardens around in a very quiet location. There is a hot tub on the rooftop, a terrace with a hammock, and in the morning you can see horses roaming around. Nothing comes close! You can definitely tell the host loves having people stay there in every aspect you look at! It's very clean and cozy! On top of that, there is a hidden spot, which was (as we got to know) discovered accidentally after the hotel had been built. A natural cave that has been turned into a wine cellar. We had an amazing experience trying local cheese and wine. So romantic and so delicious! Thank you so much for making our stay so special! We have truly beautiful memories from this trip and we definitely want to come back!

Absolutely beautiful. If you’re coming here with a boat, don’t let your boat captain convince you to go to Madame. You’ll be disappointed. Stay here all day. Also, bring your food because they’ll try to rip you off. Chicken with rice for 800 pesos?

This is a must see place. The beach is not suitable for swimming but the nature around is simply amazing. Be sure to order a pina colada for 500 pesos or a bottle of beer. Walk from one end of the beach to the other and just feel it. The place is amazing. Like from books about pirates. The cost of the excursion is 1500. This only includes the boat, no food, etc. But I think this is a very nice price. Madama Beach is not worth your time. Leave a tip for the guys working on the boat!

Monica great host and best breakfast ever!!! Walked to La Playita Beach , took a tuctuc to Playa Rincon for a Day ,,, and other beaches near ! We spend 7 Days in Galeras town ! And we loved it 🥰! Got there by bus from Santo Domingo , $500 rd money each very convenient… the views from the bus are beautiful!!! Landscape!!!Then took the boat to Madame beach and Fronton ,,, , nothing like this ! I never imagine such a beautiful place !!! At first the weather did not cooperate,, we wait a day or two ,, cause was cancel , they need a permit to go there ,,, was intimidating,, but worthy!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🙌🙌

Really nice beach. There were more people than I expected. If you enter the water from the middle of the beach be sure to have watershoes to avoid cuts. If you don't have watershoes, enter the water from the left side of the beach, more smooth there and less rocky. Good snorkeling, so bring your equipment! Watch out for the currents while you're swimming (don't go too far).
Jungletraveler00 1 — Google review
Nice beach but not easy to swim. Lot of rocks around. We did a overnight trip to the beach with a tour and enjoy the sunrise a lot. The guys from the hut there are cleaning the beach too. There was no trash at all, when we were there.
Becci L — Google review
We went from Galeras on a day the water was too rough for a boat tour. Instead, we took a motoconcho, payed 3000 pesos (~40 €/$) for a round trip to la Boca de Diablo. We also wouldn't have wanted to drive there ourselves due to the bad condition of the road and deep pools. Then, we walked the trial to playa fronton. In this case, due to the bad weather the path was muddy and the walk was more like 1.25 h than the 50 mins they said. Still, it was well accessible if you have a good condition. There was no danger whatsoever, like some people seem to suggest, we only encountered a few friendly people harvesting coconuts. The upside of no boats allowed was that we encountered a private beach, with still crystal clear water. This was by far the best beach I've ever been!

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Playa Madama is a small, stunning beach nestled in a remote cove, accessible by boat, hike, or horseback. The white sand beach is flanked by cliffs and offers opportunities for swimming and snorkeling among vibrant corals and sea life. Visitors can also explore an old cave with Taino cave paintings. The area features dense forest paths, hidden caves, and bright corals under the turquoise Atlantic Ocean.
Amazing beach close to Fronton Beach. You can visit both Fronton and Madama with the same excursion. Madama Beach is a very small but beautiful. I prefer Fronton, but Madama has its enchantment. Is is a nice place to see when visiting Las Galeras.
Claudio T — Google review
Avoid! Unfortunately, got myself convinced by the boat captain to cut my visit at Fronton short and come here. The beach is quite ugly, dirty, and murky waters do not provide a good option to snorkel. Additionally, there’s no opportunities to find shade or a quiet spot away from people blasting music. I suspect it’s their way to get home early because they were ready to pack and go back to las galeras after 30 minutes. So a full day trip turns into a half day trip where you spend an hour on a boat anyway.
Kuba — Google review
Great snorkeling if you know where to look. You can go by walk also, around 30' from the end of the road. Be extremely carefully with the currents: stay at a considerable distance from the point where the waves break. The current is very strong and it can suck you up far away from the beach, and there is no way of coming back on the beach once there. Unless there are some boats on the shore that can come to rescue you. Absolutely avoid snorkeling there alone. People died in the past here in playa madama
Enrico — Google review
A small and quiet beach. Good spot for swimming and some fish can be spotted near the rocks, so bring your snorkeling gear. There's a cave too.
Jungletraveler00 1 — Google review
We got robbed on the path to the beach by a guy with a knife. On our way back from Madama beach about about 50 metres after you climb the rocks. He suddenly appeared from behind us. We were with two persons. He went through our bags, grabbed cash only and disappeared going back in the direction of the beach. 1,87 metre tall slim guy. About 32 years old. Wearing a dark blue GAP jumper. He had his face covered with a cloth. And was wearing a baseball cap. The beach itself was beautiful. But don't go there without a guide. Or perhaps you should not go there at all to avoid this very unpleasant experience.
T. K — Google review
The beaches and environment here are amazing, especially compared to home. However, when you just came from Fronton beach and then go here, it just isn’t as nice. There’s not a lot of sand to lay down and there’s quite a lot of mess. Would definitely skip this and head to Fronton beach instead.
Michael — Google review
Just happy I didn’t walk the trail for the beach. Quite busy with the tours and not really nice for the beaches here
C. B — Google review
Just got back from an amazing hike to the wild beach near Las Galeras! 🌊🏖️ The views were absolutely stunning, and the nature felt so exotic. 🌿✨ It’s about a 1.5-hour walk, but trust me, every step is worth it! If you're looking for a little adventure and a break from the usual spots, this is the place to be. Don’t hesitate—get out there and soak it all in! 😍👣

Restaurant Coco Fabuloso is a must-visit in Galeras, offering a spectacular view of the sea and serving Italian cuisine along with delectable fish dishes and ceviche. The restaurant's terrace provides an incredible dining experience with its beachfront location, allowing guests to enjoy their meals while taking in the beautiful views. The menu features a variety of fresh seafood dishes that are well-seasoned and cooked to perfection.
Gorgeous view over a stunning beach. It’s a nice 10 minute walk from the main road that leads to the sea. The owners are very friendly Italians. The food is nice. We had the spaghetti with seafood and the salade caprese.

This restaurant has the most amazing location and a good amount of dishes on it's menu- I'm veggie, and there were a few choices . I am just tired of the commonplace practice here in the DR of adding the 2 taxes onto the published prices- which brought the total up to the equivalent level of an upmarket place in Europe... They do tell you on the menu at least, that there will be 18% and 10% added.... They have a poster saying that they accept payment by card, but that incurs an extra charge too..... The ladies serving were very pleasant.
Morag P — Google review
You have to go here if you're in the area. We went somewhat early (noon) and were the only people there. Service was great and the gentleman there spoke English. We had the lobster and shrimp plate and it was very good. And then there's the view... INCREDIBLE. My wife and I had the entire beach to ourselves. Great day trip/lunch! Give them a try, they even gave us some complementary shots.

A must visit if you are in Galeras. The food is delicious, the staff and owners are super kind and attentive, and the views are beautiful. The restaurant is in front of the beach with seating available to enjoy drinks on the sand or even eat there. The seafood was very fresh, well seasoned and cooked. And I'll highlight the superb service once again, really outstanding.

Las Galeras Whale Watching

Whale watching tour agency
Las Galeras is renowned for its whale watching tours, which take place between December and March. During this time, thousands of humpback whales migrate to Samana Bay to mate and give birth to their calves. The area offers beautiful beaches and local fishing boats, with plenty of tour options around the peninsula. While some visitors may not spot whales due to their elusive nature, they still enjoy the boat ride and stunning views of coral and the island.
This beach is beautiful and a must go. There is a little area with local fishing boats, however, several feet to the right and it turns into a paradise. Plenty to do in the area. They have plenty of options for tours around the peninsula in a vessel, they will be able to take you to amazing places. Whale watching vessels depart from this area between December and March.

Although i did not get to see any whales because they were hiding i really liked the boat ride and the view of the coral and the island. The water is very clear and beautiful. Also i got to see flying fish for the first which was very cool. I would 100% do it again but i wouldn’t recommend it to someone who get seasick since the boat does jump a lot.

The restaurant is known for its warm ambiance, friendly service, and top-notch dishes that leave diners raving about their meals. Guests have enjoyed everything from lobster thermidor to octopus carpaccio, highlighting the freshness and quality of ingredients used in each dish.
Wow! This food was so good. It always makes me hungry when I remember it! Hahaha, the service was also amazing!!!!! I had the Marakana special pizza, it came with a huge piece of tuna!! I love it so much haha. Then for dessert we all shared the nutella pizza. The server said that the pizzas were small and that we shouldn't share, but that was way off. It was enough toa t least share between two. We weren't mad in the end because it was so good, it was a pleasure to take 'em home. Enjoy ya meal. They also had interesting live music

The best pizza I had since I visited Naples. Best raw fish and raw octopus. Restaurant opens 2pm but we didn't get pizza until 3:30pm because 1. The pizza stove is not ready , needs start up. 2. It is tropical island style, payback patience and wait. Maybe if you go for dinner the kitchen is more efficient The service is good. You must try the raw fish!

Nice Italian restaurant at Main Street of Las Galeras Town. Comfortable and with very good service. Food was also tasteful and with a beautiful presentation. I had a Breaded Shrimp and a Pulp Salad. Both delicious.

Not to be missed! Italian cuisine at the highest level, friendly and smiling staff with a Caribbean style, and the owners, Elisabetta and Giacinto, sweet, willing to satisfy any request (even that of ad hoc meals for a baby, in our case!!), with a big heart that they put into what they do. You will feel at home, cuddled in spirit and in taste!

It was nice and rhe pizza was incredible. Quick service. We tried the diavola and the Marakana pizza. For dessert we order ice-cream and tiramisu. We sat next to the street and street vendors can get annoying. I would recommend to sit in another place.

It was our first time eating at Marakana. My husband and I loved our food. We had the calzone and a pizza. Best pizza I have had on the island for the past 15 years. The manager, Jimmy, took good care of us and made us feel welcome. We definitely will tell our renters at The Cove to come over and enjoy their food, good service, and friendly staff.

Always admired this building on the main street and glad to see there is restaurant taking advantage of this beautiful space. The food was so delightful and fresh. El Cabito is a secluded cliff-top restaurant in Las Galeras, offering breathtaking seaside views. Despite the challenging access, the stunning scenery makes it worth the journey. The presence of friendly cats and dogs adds to the charm of this unique dining experience.
Very simple but good menu. Nice cold beer! Interesting and sociable host. Fantastic views!! The road is very rough, not for low riding cars.
Ed Y — Google review
The views for sunset are amazing. Unfortunately the service was very unusual as the host was preparing our food while smoking his cigarettes. The paella we had was good, but quite overpriced. Wouldn't go there again. Also, the road to that place is in very bad condition and you might risk damaging your car on the way there if you are not driving a bigger car.

This place is one of a kind! The owner is from Spain, and is full of warmth and kindness. As you walk down the path, you can reach out and pet the horses as they munch on their grain. The owner is passionate about animals and books. The beauty is jaw dropping. We watched the sun set as we sat on the quiet deck overlooking the ocean. It felt like we were on our own little island. This place / experience is incredibly unique and magical. The food was absolutely delicious.

Fantastic Paella! Not your usual restaurant, we thought it was closed when we first arrived. However the owner found a seat for us and made us the best meal of our trip. Definitely need a decent vehicle to get in and out, but worth the trip!

May be in business but looks to be falling apart. Signage was non existent. When approaching the building the inside looked disheveled. I turned around because it looked sketchy and not taken care of. I left my partner down the hill in the car as the roads were impassable. I don't know where the good reviewers went for their experience.

It’s deserted, buildings in ruin, rubbish everywhere. Looks like someone may be squatting there. All the other reviews are very out of date. Felt like I was in a slasher movie about to be jumped. View was beautiful though.

We stayed in the nearby resort, walking here was easy for us, enjoyed the local farms and scenery along the way. There are some dogs and turkeys which are friendly. We came here for drinks and this could be the one of the best places in the area to watch sunset, if lucky, you could see whales in the winter from here. They also serve foods. Very chill, simple and relaxing place.

Exceptional service by the owner/chef. It's a little out of the way to get to the restaurant and there's no hotel or rooms. The place is a little worse for wear however it has incredible seaside views overlooking the cliffs of Las Galeras. There are lots of friendly cats and dogs that live with the owner and will try to join you for your meal if you're not careful. We had the paella de mariscos and some fish with vegetables. The food was delicious and prepared quickly. The meal for 4 and a few beers came to 4500dop so a bit more expensive than some other places in town but worth it for the view.

Playa Las Galeras in Samana is an exceptionally stunning beach with pristine white sand and crystal-clear, warm aqua blue waters. Although there is some sea weed present, the overall beauty of the beach overshadows this minor drawback. The town itself may not offer much, but at the end of the beach lies a delightful bar/restaurant where you can unwind with refreshing drinks. It is considered to be one of the most exquisite beaches in the country.
One of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The sand is perfectly white and the water is aqua blue and warm. There was some sea weed though and the town itself is not much but at the end of the beach you will find a nice bar/restaurant to drink something refreshing

Been here in December, waves are smoother than in Rincon for example, more family friendly. There are a couple of bars and restaurants one can use. Under the water after about 10 meters of going into the sea begin a stony strip that requires slow walking - would hence be better to have water shoes - especially for kids. Algae are here.

Due to rough weather there was only one window to go diving. We did piedra bonita: underwater pinnacle with lot's of (schooling) fish and whales singing in the back ground! and la herradura a with coral enclosed sand channel where we've seen turtle, big barracuda and 3 eagle rays, not to shabby ; ) This is the Atlantic side of the island so. less coral and a cool mix of fish. It starts to get more tropical. If you're visiting during the whale season: go diving and just listen to the whales singing, it's amazing ; ) thanks!

While some pizzas may come out slightly burnt due to timing in the wood stove, the overall quality remains impressive. Guests rave about their freshly made pasta dishes as well, particularly the tagliatelle al pesto.
One of the best pizzas we've ever had! Simple, home made, delicious! Highly recommended.
Marc G — Google review
We order 2 pizzas to go. One pepperoni with pineapple and other with ham. The pizzas were very delicious, sauce was seasoned, and crust was crispy. Only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars was that the pizza was slightly burnt in some areas. They do wood stove pizzas, so timing is important so they probably left it on just a minute to long. I will definitely try them again and update when I do!

The best food we had here! They serve freshly made pasta and the pizza is also very good. The service was always nice and fast. The only thing was, that the menu is only in Spanish. All in all a excellent Italian restaurant.
Isabell W — Google review
Surprisingly good for a random stop. They have a proper pizza oven, nice crust, and load on the cheese. We had enough left over to snack on later.
Richard H — Google review
The pizza is good traditional Italian pizza. The great thing was the chocolate gelato super yummy!!! Drinks are overpriced so stick to the food.

Worse pizza I ever had expensive plus the charge extra for the soda

Andres el Andariego de Las Galeras offers a variety of guided tours and excursions in the Dominican Republic. One of their popular activities is horseback riding at Rudy's Rancho, where visitors can sit back and relax while experiencing the beauty of Las Galeras. Another highlight is the hiking excursion to 7 beaches in Las Galeras, led by Andres himself. Participants are treated to stunning landscapes and picturesque beaches, making it one of the most comprehensive excursions in the area.
Andres is an exceptional guide who took us to the most beautiful treck of our Dominican experience. He is knowledgeable, respectful and incredibly friendly and knows Las Galeras inside out. We felt safe as learned so much about the natural wonders of the area. The swim in the caves was of course a highlights

Andres is an excellent guide. He is very attentive and will coordinate all the details of your Samaná tour. I can highly recommend him. You will be in good hands with him.

My friend and I booked the 7 beaches walking tour ans had a great day with Andrés - he is from the area and knows everyone! He even helped us to arrange transport to and from Samana at a good price after we realised going by bus would not work. Andrés knows all about the beaches, advised us on where was best to swim and where was not safe, told us a lot about the plants and trees. He even cracked open an almond to show us - it was tasty! The lunch was good and we had time to go to where the river meets the sea which was beautiful and refreshing to cool off before heading back. Highly recommend! Go direct if you see this, instead of through an agency!

Andres is a wonderful tour guide. He is very kind, very prepared and flexible to your needs and paces. We had a great time with him!! I recommend him to anyone who needs a guide and wants some adventure or just to explore nice places with your mind at ease.

I recently joined an excursion to Playa Ermitaño with Andre El Andariego, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The beach itself is stunning—secluded, pristine, and surrounded by lush nature that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a hidden paradise. Andre is an excellent guide. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and very attentive to every detail. Throughout the trip, he shared interesting stories about the area and made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe. The organization was top-notch, from transportation to the boat ride and the time we spent relaxing on the beach. If you’re looking for a unique adventure off the beaten path, I highly recommend this excursion. Thank you, Andre, for such a wonderful day!

We had an amazing trip and we were shown lovely places. He is a very lovely person and stopped on the way for us to take amazing pictures of the scenery. However, we were charged twice the actual cost of the trip and that was very disappointing for me and the lunch was a poor version of what we agreed on.

We enjoyed our tour with Andres. He was very attentive and made sure that all members of the group were able to keep up on the ATV tour. We saw so many wonderful areas of Samana province to see. While on this trip we were able to visit Playa Rincon, saw the black marble mines, visited Garganta del Diablo, and amazing lunch, and we also viewed the location where the whales mate. I only rated it a 4 because I had to translate a lot (which I speaking very little Spanish) or rely on the other people (who were were from Spain) in tour to translate to English. That was mentally taxing. It made it hard to understand the details and specifics of the areas we were visiting as an English-speaking person. Thankfully, Euris (Samana Tours) had explained the entire tour before leaving on the ATVs which helped us to have some ideas what we would be seeing. Every location was amazing! The food was great! We even rode through a pouring rain storm on the ATVS and Andres kept us safe and helped ensure a fun and safe arrival to Playa Rincon. So, overall it was a great tour, I just would have liked more of the tour in English.

A nice 3-4 hour hike from Playa Rincon to the pools of Cabo Cabron, and a quick boat ride back. Andrews is a great guide, and the communication was easy and efficient. I would use him again.

Had a great excursion whale watching with Joel and his crew! They have a beautiful craft that is very capable in higher seas. We were blessed with a few breaching whales, a wonderful shore luch and a swim on Fronton beach.Stunning day with a very professional captain.

We booked 3 tours with J&L agency - quads, buggies, and the waterfall. The agency is conveniently located at Plaza La Marseillaise (which we loved for delicious breakfasts and coffee). We asked the owner, I guess, 5 or 6 times whether the quad tour is different from the buggy tour (she barely speaks English, so we did it with the help of a translator too) and she convinced us multiple times that these are two completely different tours and routes, and even showed us on the map two quite opposite locations. The quad tour on day 1 was really nice. We loved it! But the next day when we set off on buggies it appeared that the buggy tour was ABSOLUTELY THE SAME! The similar route, similar stops, similar places! No difference! So we ended up having the same tour twice. We got disappointed for wasting our precious time. And also for the owner LYING into our faces. Actually, one thing I wanted to say is many many thanks to the guides Camille and Rafael for making our journey more pleasurable. The guys are real professionals and very nice people! They filled our journeys with positivity and fun and actually saved the day! Thank you, guys!
Alexandra — Google review
Professional and good company. Our buggy ride was so much fun! The only thing we could complain about is that it was nearly impossible to get a hold of them ahead of our trip, and also that when we went on a trip we were the only two people in a group of 10 people who spoke English and not french. So we were told we would get a English guide, but what happened is that he spoke french with the french people maybe 70-80% of the time, also his English maybe wasn’t that good so we didn’t get the information we were hoping for at all the beautiful places we went on the tour, but he was a good guide and I think the company owners and not the guide are to blame for this. They should have arranged it differently.

The excursion itself is wonderful, beautiful beaches, lunch at Rincon Rubi restaurant very good. For us, it was easier scheduling in advance with a larger group, than showing up and winging it (which I would have done were it only my husband and I). Galeras beaches are a must if you are in Samana. This review is an honest reflection and feedback of our experience hiring the company. My concern is with the company owner and not directly with the two employees that were with us all day. The captain and assistant did a great job getting us from point A to point B --- not the most attentive or friendly, but also not necessary. While our day was extremely pleasant, a woman tried joining and neither she or the employees could answer who she was until I asked her to leave. Maybe this is typical island culture, but we hired a more expensive company than just showing up so these things would not happen. When we got to the restaurant, they had no idea we were arriving because the owner of the company didn't let them know. Also, we had to pay for chairs in Playa Rincon, albeit a minimal fee -- this is typical at public beaches in the country but confused our group. The restaurant had no idea we were showing up, so after the second unnecessary call of the day with Joel, we ordered included fish and chicken. As we're leaving the beach, two hours later, the chef comes running after us saying we didn't pay our bill. Again, mistake of management, not the boat assistants or the restaurant. Cue third unnecessary call of the day with the now upset restaurant owner, us confused as to why we didn't just order straight from the menu instead of the excursion food if this was going to happen, and now Joel instead of apologizing at all, tells us he'll cover the $150 difference in rice (USD $3 as if he's solving the problem). These are minor hiccups, but not one that a reputable brand would make, especially when charging AT LEAST 500 DOP more per person, including drinks and food, than just showing up and hiring a boat on your own. Total Transparency: We paid DOP 3,500 PP, 9 people on one yola, and did the three beach tour. A cooler filled with waters, sodas, and presidente beer was included. We had no idea until we arrived despite my constant asking about food, but lunch was at Rincon Rubi restaurant (great spot) and the included food is fish and chicken. I didn't like that we had no choice in how the fish was cooked and that it was served family style to be honest...no one really had a hot fish (or typical fried fish). Joel told me if I wanted the excursion without lunch, it was a 500 PP discount. Meals at the restaurant were slightly higher, at about 450-750 and you can use credit card. Our day was good, but the owner is unorganized. He didn't show up until the end of the day after the final, and angry phone call to collect payment. My recommendation is that he be more organized and present - be there in the morning and make sure the restaurant is aware of guests HIMSELF. The confusion with the food is unnecessary - just say it's fresh fish at a restaurant and let each person choose how their fish is cooked and serve per plate...not tourist, overcooked, and cold family style. I couldn't seem to get a clear answer about origin of food until I was pleasantly surprised upon arriving at the restaurant. Finally, the beach chairs - we know you have an "in" with the chair people - just reserve the chairs for your group and include it in the price so international tourists aren't confused & scrambling for change. Just the tiny details that mark the difference between a service and a great service IMO.

The Langostino de Oro is a restaurant with a typical and cozy atmosphere, decorated with ethnic elements made of wood and cane. It is located just a few meters from the beach, making it a perfect place to enjoy an intimate evening.
Nice ambience and tasty food. They serve delicious drinks. Pizza crust is different then the standard one, but still tasted good. Service is friendly.

We actually landed in this place by accident and we didn't check notes upon coming. Afterwards i saw quite a lot of negative reviews and it seems that not everything might be delicious, so my review is mostly about two things we ordered - pizza margarita and vegetarian pasta. I must say that both were quite delicious, pizza was thin, crispy and pasta well prepared. The portions were big and the service was very nice.

Best artisan pizza in the area, recommend this location. Ice cream is good as well. The only little issue is several cats in the restaurant, and they're allowed on the tables.

Hotel y Restaurant Villa Serena is a tranquil retreat nestled in tropical gardens, offering an outdoor pool and yoga classes. Guests can enjoy the breathtaking views and impeccable service while exploring the nearby beaches. The restaurant provides vegan options and there are other dining choices within walking distance. This well-maintained property immerses visitors in the local culture, with access to beautiful beaches and delicious, fresh local cuisine.
We went for lunch, to take advantage of the great views, and wandered round the grounds afterwards. The indoor dining room is quite splendid and we had a table near an open window, with great views past the little offshore island, Cayo Levantado. Their menu is unusual and we shared fish croquettes and a guacamole dish. along with a bottle of Argentinian rosé, which was strangely off dry. But we enjoyed the experience.

We had a wonderful stay! The grounds are beautiful, with a fantastic garden and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. We even joined the yoga class with our kids—a lovely experience for the whole family. The small private beach was perfect for quiet moments. Pure peace and relaxation!

Hotel Villa Serena in las Galeras, DR is nothing short of paradise!! The views are spectacular, the room is comfortable, the food amazing and the staff makes you feel like you’re family! I had the best and most relaxing experience there and would recommend it to anyone who wants a perfect vacation!

Total mind blow! This retreat forced me to vacate all my worries and focus on total pleasure! Breathtaking views, beautiful accommodations, incredibly fresh, delicious ( and nutritious) foods and beverages, amazing waitstaff, eye-catching scenery, beach hopping, extreme peaceful seclusion, and exclusivity...There was NOTHING to want for.
Alchemic A — Google review
Villa Serena is situated in a beautiful location with a small yet private beach. I reached out in advance and requested a specific room if available and was told it would be no problem but when we arrived we were placed in a room adjacent to the lobby and not quite the privacy I was hoping for. When I mentioned it to the manager her response was, they're all the same, not the warmest welcome from mgmt, clearly a room adjacent to the lobby it not the same as the one I asked for. The rooms are beautifully appointed with flowers yet desperately need upgrades as the smell of mold is pungent despite their best efforts to mask it with sprays. The bathroom toliet and tub were leaking, nearly hit my head on the shower from the slipping. Was unable to unpack my clothes in the closet because of the smell of mold. The extra pillows in the closet were saturated with mold smell, I had to put them in the hallway. The staff at the restaurant were all so polite & the food very good but dinner for 2 cost well over 6k pesos! 2 beers, 2 apps, 2 entrees, we didn't order anything fancy and paid NY prices. The place tacks on a 28% service fee! One can only hope it goes to the staff. It's unnecessarily expensive, it's better to head out into town for food. There are so many beautiful beaches but recommend La Playita we went twice, ate fresh fish & never spent over 3k pesos including chair rental. Was hoping to make this location the next for my 2025 company retreat but without mold remediation would not subject my team to it.

If you love to be immersed in the country and culture of the places you visit - Villa Serena is for you. It’s a breathtaking location within a beautiful, small, beach town. It’s quiet and very well run with the kindest and hardest working people. They have incredibly delicious, fresh, local food that is always of the highest quality. You can swim in their beautiful beach or visit endless beaches in the surrounding area. I almost don’t want to share how much we love it, because I’d like it to remain a secret.

We loved everything about our stay at Villa Serena. The grounds are breathtaking with incredible views! The service is wonderful, everything is very clean and people are friendly. It really is a serene location, quiet and beautiful. As vegans we were very happy to have options to offer at the restaurant and enjoyed dining at the local restaurants as well which are just a short walk away. I want to keep this place a secret it’s so perfect but have to give credit where it’s due! Stay here you will enjoy every minute!
