Casa del Chocolate in Baracoa is a tribute to the significance of cacao in the region, offering various chocolate products for purchase. Visitors can sample and buy locally produced chocolate, including cold chocolate with ice cream and hot chocolate. The charming establishment features indoor and outdoor seating, with a lovely courtyard. The friendly staff are proficient in English and provide excellent service. In addition to delicious chocolate drinks, the shop also sells high-quality chocolate blocks.
Is it okay to say that you could even start your day by having a cold chocolate with an ice cream all in a small cup?! It's all you need to start your day! The place itself was beautiful, lots of seats inside and outside in the courtyard. Staff were absolutely amazing and also spoke English as well. We tried two cold chocolate with ice cream and one hot chocolate. We never tried pure fresh cocoa before so for us was a delicious experience that made us to go back pretty much everyday. Price was cheap and reasonable considering as tourist. We will definitely be back. Thank you again!

The chocolate drink here is so good, but it's basically all they sell, along with really good chocolate blocks as well. Still very much recommend going - lots to look at as well with an interesting interior and posters and items from the chocolate growing and making process all around.
Erland H — Google review
The chocolate is ok but nothing special. The options are cold chocolate, hot chocolate, chocolate with rum or chocolate with ice cream. They also sell milk and dark chocolate bars at 2CUC each. I guess it's nice to try but overpriced as everything sold to tourists here.

El Yunque is a 3,543-ft. mountain located near the charming city of Baracoa in Cuba's Guantanamo province. This tabletop mountain, resembling an anvil, offers challenging hiking trails and stunning views from its flat top. Visible from any point in Baracoa, El Yunque is a must-visit natural jewel protected by the country.

I found in the Casa Particulars that I visited on our mini tour, attention to the guest that was much higher than the average of multi-starred hotels in Cuba. For example, in the food cooked by Susanna and Alejandro you can feel the "soul" that they put into creating excellent dishes: from the simple morning tortilla, to which he added some fragrant herbs taken directly from the garden, to the fresh fruit smoothie, the name of which I don't remember, very good. On the evening of dinner the electricity suddenly went out only in the street of the house. After about an hour of waiting, in which we hoped he would return, with makeshift means (I think by going to cook at a friend's house) he still managed to prepare an excellent dinner for us! Thank you Alejandro and Susana if we return to Baracoa you will definitely see us! (Original) Il luogo idele per visitare Baracoa! Pulizia ottima, colazione e cena ottime. Nestled within the lush greenery, reaching the Museo Arqueológico requires a trek through dense forest to the enchanting Las Cuevas del Paraíso. This captivating network of caves once served as sacred spaces for indigenous rituals and now houses an impressive collection of pre-Columbian artifacts. Among these treasures are human remains displayed in a fetal position, offering a haunting glimpse into the past.

The museum is incredibly well-organized, with informative exhibits that take you on a fascinating journey through time. The highlight of my visit was exploring the Cueva del Paraíso** itself. The cave is breathtaking, and the guided tour was both educational and inspiring. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the stories behind the exhibits. This museum is a must-visit for history enthusiasts, families, or anyone looking to connect with the past in a meaningful way. This small museum is a jewel. It features a solid collection of original artifacts as well reconstructions of different aspects of Taino life pre-European arrival. It is set up in a natural system of superposed limestone caves, so it is a thrill to go inside and out the caves, one after the other, as you discover the exhibition. Staff are knowledgeable and generous in sharing the depth of indigenous roots that have marked Baracoa's identity. Last but not least – the museum offers an amazing view of Miel Bay from the top cave. 100% recommended!

Playa de Miel

3.7
(12)
Beach
Nestled at the eastern end of the Malecon wall, Playa de Miel is a captivating beach that embodies the charm of Baracoa. This dark sand and stony shoreline may not be pristine, but it holds a special place in the hearts of locals who flock here for its serene atmosphere. The beach is guarded by a stone monument to Christopher Columbus, adding historical significance to its natural beauty.
very pretty, beautiful place

(Translated by Google) Although the government still allows the theft of sand on this beach and its total oblivion as part of the protection and reforestation so that the sea does not advance and a few meters of beach are lost each year, this beach is still as I remembered it. , quiet, beautiful with its blue waters and incredible attractiveness. It is one of the most beautiful beaches that the Villa de Baracoa Nuestra Señora de la Asunción has. First Villa founded in Cuba.

(Translated by Google) Very sad how people have defaced this place. There are endless syringes and plastic on the beach. Cubans try to sell things intrusively. Families drink liquor in the water and bathe with small children at the same time. I can't recommend this place at all.

(Translated by Google) Terrible experience! During our stay in Baracoa we went to this quite nice beach (Baracoa has nicer ones). The beach is near the mouth of a river, when it rains, the flow of the river water increases, causing the temperature of the sea water to drop and consequently many jellyfish (called Agua viva or Agua mala), which are not like those we can find in Italy, but much more dangerous, come closer to the shore. My girlfriend, as well as other people we met at the polyclinic (fortunately located a few hundred meters from the beach), was taken by one of these causing burns on her face and body, as well as a strong allergic reaction. Unfortunately we had to interrupt our holidays as she had to take cortisone and antibiotics. This danger is not reported in any way even if the locals are aware of it. Be careful!! (Original) Esperienza terribile! State attenti!!

(Translated by Google) I love this beach and the people who live nearby, some of them sell you the delicious shaved almonds in this place and at a good price. You will meet enterprising people offering you coconut water on the way to the next beach (Playa Blanca). Very close is the Honey River, myths say that if you bathe in its waters, one day you will return to Baracoa, I confirmed that it is true.

Bahia de Miel, also known as Honey Bay, is a historic town located on an oyster-shaped bay. The picturesque landmark of El Yunque, or the Anvil, provides a stunning backdrop to the town. It's a great destination for hiking and immersing oneself in nature's beauty.
Lovely place to hike and enjoy nature!
