McLaren Vale in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in McLaren Vale, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
McLaren Vale is one of South Australia’s premier wine regions, known especially for its shiraz and Mediterranean-style varietals, with cellar doors ranging from historic estates to small, family-run wineries. Set between rolling vineyards and the Gulf St Vincent coastline, it offers easy access to beaches, scenic drives and walking or cycling trails such as the Shiraz Trail. The area has a strong food culture, with local produce, farm gates and winery restaurants showcasing regional ingredients. Art galleries, craft studios and regular markets add to its relaxed, small-town atmosphere while still being an easy day trip from Adelaide.
With favorites like Pizzateca, d'Arry's Verandah Restaurant, and The d'Arenberg Cube, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like d'Arry's Verandah Restaurant and Vale's Pizza Bar so you can get the best taste of McLaren Vale while you’re here. Pizzateca is a charming rustic-chic restaurant located in a country house and garden setting, offering carefully sourced classic Italian dishes. The venue features an expansive lawn with white tables and plastic chairs for outdoor dining during warm weather, while a weather-proof pergola provides a cozy atmosphere in winter. Pizzateca's wood-fired pizzas from an imported Italian oven are known for their fluffy, light texture, with the option of gluten-free bases available.
Was highly recommended by locals and absolutely didn't disappoint, delicious !!! Excellent service and lovely location, nice wines to go with the pizza as well

I had the best gluten free pizza I have ever had in my life at Pizzateca. The base was extraordinary and so well made and cooked to perfection. I had the best prosciutto ever it was so fresh and delicious and the most amazing flavour. We also had the most incredible customer service and were so well looked after by the staff. Overall I cannot recommend Pizzateca enough it was the best!

Stopped here for a late lunch and they kindly squeezed us in without a reservation despite being nearly full. It was a blessing because we were super hungry. The food was great, and the service was just fantastic. Had a great chat with the manager (apologies if that’s incorrect) about our time in Australia. In general, we felt really welcome and looked after.
Sindhu P — Google review
The lamb skewers were delicious, I highly recommend them. The pizza (margherita with extra baby tomatoes and mozzarella) was really good as well, although I’m afraid the oven was a tiny bit too hot which gave a slight burn taste. Perfect service and dynamic vibe. I would come back 👍🏼
Marc W — Google review
We unfortunately had a very negative experience with the quality of our pizzas tonight. The toppings were uncooked and dripping wet with moisture which saturated the pizza dough. The mushrooms were bitey and the cheese needed to be cooked more. We shared our experience with the staff who offered to make us some new pizzas but unfortunately we had the same moisture issue with undercooked toppings. The tiramisu was missing any coffee, vanilla or rum flavours. We have received great recommendations about this place from friends and this was our first experience dining here, perhaps we just caught them on an off night? Given our experience we are unlikely to return.
Christine V — Google review
We popped in here for lunch after arriving at McLaren Vale, starving due to an early morning flight from Brisbane. The atmosphere is a little Basic with open areas and a lot of chairs and tables. We were there for Monday lunch and I’m sure it rocks on the weekend . We did eat some of the best pizzas we’ve ever eaten, sprinkled with fresh buffalo mozzarella. You can also trust Italians to know how to control ratios to make the perfect Aperol Spritz. The gelato next door was mediocre. The pizzas .., definitely worth trying!
Leonie W — Google review
Repost: I have read your reply and I am both surprised and very disappointed. From the moment we sat down until we left, we only asked your staff once to check why our pizza was taking so long — at no point did we criticize or harass your team. When the manager came over there was no apology or courteous explanation. Instead, we were told, “The pizza is being made — you just have to wait,” and when we raised our concerns we were told, “If you’re still not happy, then there is nothing else I can say.” That was said loudly at our table with no apology, and it felt extremely disrespectful. At checkout I reiterated that we had no issue with waiting; what we objected to was being spoken to that way. For a restaurant that claims to “work so hard to give every guest a warm and welcoming experience,” we received the opposite today. I understand restaurants get busy and waits can happen, but the manner in which we were treated contradicts your stated values. Perhaps you are a well-known restaurant, but that does not excuse a lack of basic respect. Finally, everything I have described here is factual Original: I visited this restaurant today with my brother who came from Brisbane. We drove an hour to try it because it’s such a famous place. We ordered two starters and three pizzas, and asked for the starters to come first. The first starter came quickly, but the second one took almost 40 minutes — we ordered at 12:30 and it didn’t arrive until 1:10. When we asked about it, a female manager came over and told us that our pizzas were “being made.” But by then, we had already been waiting nearly an hour, and we could clearly see that tables who arrived much later than us already had their pizzas served. When we pointed this out, instead of apologising, she became very dismissive and rude, saying: “We’re busy today, you can see that. I can only tell you your pizzas are being made. If you’re not happy, I don’t know what else to say.” That attitude was unacceptable. We decided to pay and leave without even having the pizzas. At the counter, her behavior was still unprofessional and disrespectful. I told her that the waiting time wasn’t the real problem — what we needed was a little courtesy and a sincere apology. Instead, we were met with rudeness and indifference. This restaurant may be popular, but the poor service and the manager’s terrible attitude completely ruined our experience.
Karry Y — Google review
The waitess staff were very friendly and helpful. The Pizzas were good but we wouldn't have raved about them. I see on other reviews they said it was fine dinning. We wouldn't say it was more like Cafe style food. Certainly over Priced for what you get in the way of topping on the pizza, drinks were almost restaurant prices. As a group of people we said that we would think twice about going back.

McLaren Vale Lakeside Caravan Park is a spacious and tranquil park located in McLaren Vale, South Australia. The region is renowned for its rich wine heritage, boasting around 65 wineries that produce top-quality shiraz, grenache, and cabernet. In addition to the world-class wines, visitors can explore white-sand beaches, art galleries, walking and biking trails, and indulge in farm-to-table culinary experiences featuring locally produced olive oil, fresh produce, cheeses, and chocolates.
After all our travels around Australia, this would be the best appointed park. There is beautifully kept lawns, amenities are fabulous with many sites having their own ensuites and the staff were friendly and helpful. It is the second time we have stayed here and would definitely stay again when travelling over this way in the future. Our friends stayed in a cabin and it was also stunning. Congrats to the park owners for having such a well maintained park. Debbie and Doug Hand

We stayed in a Two Bed Cabin and for the price was very old and not too clean especially the bathroom with dead cockroaches, lifting vinyl and the smell of septic tank. The bed in the second bedroom was not made correctly and had to be stripped down and remade During this process a pair of under pants was found . How long it had been there who would know but it puts the cleaning staff into question. There are still there as far as I am aware but I did tell reception when I left. The only thing to recommend this park is that it is in the centre of the wine region Brian Dalton

Great reception staff, quiet, spacious camp kitchen with badminton table. Only criticism was gardens needed a good weed. Ensuite was adequate but bring your own towels. Thanks for the peaceful stay.
Meg R — Google review
Probably the most average and basic caravan park we'veever camped at. The camp kitchen has no oven, stove top or decent cooking facilities besides tiny hot plates. Theres also no hot water in the camp kitchen which we were told is because they need to buy a new boiler. So we washed our dishes in cold water. Our ensuite site was nice and grassy and shaded by trees but the ensuite itself was dirty. Alot of the park is populated by shabby looking permanent on-site vans. Not sure we'd bother coming to this park again. It has alot of potential but is so run down.
A M — Google review
We stayed in one of the new cabins on the weekend. Amazing facilities, completely new and modern. There was only 2 of us, but these lux cabins are big enough for a family holiday. Great private deck as well, which is perfect for entertaining.
Lisa G — Google review
AVOID HERE IF STAYING IN TENTS. Ridiculous tent policy! If you can afford one huge tent you can have up to 6 people stay per site. But if you can only afford (or prefer) 2 x smaller tents for your family you must pay for a separate site for each tent. Strictly one tent per site, no exceptions. We have never encountered this policy before in SA.
Kaii R — Google review
Great location and a very pretty park. Have been staying at park for years but unfortunately the reception staff are beyond rude and do not want to help in anyway. When questioned on their mistake with not taking membership discount off price and having to request my receipt when it wasn’t sent, their response was too bad. No customer service skills at all, not just with me but other campers as well. The ammenities are old and at times dirty.
Karen J — Google review
Will never stay again. This park has so much potential but is seriously let down by terrible service. The staff are beyond rude and do not want to help in any way. We have never experienced such rude staff. Apart from the amenities being dirty, the park itself is lovely. Great location, well maintained.

Chalk Hill Wines in McLaren Vale stands out among the numerous wineries in the area due to its diverse offerings. In addition to a cellar door, it features Never Never distillery and an Italian cantina called Cucina di Strada. The winery offers a relaxing lunch experience with stunning views of McLaren Vale from its spacious dining area, which can be open or closed depending on the weather.
Wonderful Winery with a Great Atmosphere This place has everything you could wish for – delicious wine, a stunning view, and a truly charming vibe. The music was just right, and the lady singing live added a magical touch to the evening. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy the moment. Definitely worth a visit!

We visited this winery on the 22nd of March when we visited our friends in Adelaide . The venue was amazing with beautiful views. The testing fee started from $25. pp The staff were lovely. The wines were not the top of my list . They were young wines fresh which were not my style . Syrah was nice . We didn’t try the food but it looked good to have the food take away next to the cellar door. We didn’t try Alpha Crucis. Overall was good experience with the beautiful weather .

Came in today with my partner for wine tasting and had Ollie, the sommelier who was friendly, professional and very helpful when talking to us about each of the wines. Ollie also extended an invitation for us to stay for lunch afterwards, to which we gladly accepted, we also ended up purchasing 3 bottles of wine to take home. Definitely worth a visit, beautiful wines, atmosphere and views!

Chris from Chalk Hill Wine is not just pouring wine; he's creating a warm and welcoming experience for everyone. With his extensive knowledge and heartfelt hospitality, he turns every tasting into a delightful journey. You really feel like the star of the show when you’re at his table, as he shares the stories behind each pour. It's all about making you feel special and connected to the world of wine!

What a gorgeous spot to sit, relax and have a drink. Love that this place is child and dog friendly. Our group of four adults, one dog and one toddler enjoyed our day in the sun. The pizzas were fantastic! Even more commendable is the customer service. In the chaos of running after my toddler, I left my bag behind. The social media person was so helpful in coordinating its return, and the winery manager even dropped my bag off to me in Adelaide CBD. I’m so grateful for the empathy.

Walked straight in on a Wednesday, no wait & served straight away. Thorough explanation on the Italian grape varietals & how they fit into the Australian growing climate & our cultural drinking pallets by a very wine knowledgeable young man named Luke. Very relaxed tasting session which was nice. Going to come back another day to the Never Never (Gin) for their martini & Negroni tasting.

This place has always held a special place in my heart and to return for a wine tasting with the impeccable view has made our trip to McLaren Vale a memorable one. The wine tasting is run with poise and it is interesting to hear how each type of wine is made, what ingredients give it its unique flavour, and generally knowing that we are supporting local. There are wines that have won awards and it not hard to see why 🙌🏽

d'Arenberg is a renowned vineyard in McLaren Vale, known for its iconic 5-story building called the d'Arenberg Cube. The winery offers a diverse range of reds and whites, with popular choices like the Dead Arm shiraz and Broken Fishplate sauvignon blanc. Visitors can enjoy tastings at the top-level tasting room while taking in panoramic views of McLaren Vale, the Willunga Hills, and the Gulf of St Vincent.
It was the only winery we could go to our visit to Adelaide. The cube was an amazing museum and art gallery. When we booked the restaurant for lunch, we got an invite for free wine tasting and entry to the gallery. We were told to come 1.5 hours before lunch. I'm so glad we did because we needed that time to spend in the cube! Wine tasting on the top floor with the view was so good. Highly recommend it.

Great fun location to visit. We had an awesome time doing the wine blending and gin tasting. Highly recommended the wine blend if you have some time. Not sure my blend will win any awards but it’s great fun. Venue itself has lots to see and do.

I am quite disappointed about the overall experience. I mean the interior and the exterior gained the two stars due to its uniqueness but everything else really left room for improvements. We spend 130$ for two tastings and the Dali exhibition. There is no love or personality what so ever. When we arrived in the tasting room, the expectations were high given the setup but we were left with little to no explanation or storytelling for the wines. We tasted the 5 glasses and that’s literally it. I also didn’t enjoy the wines except the 2015 Shiraz, the younger ones should really stay closed for a while longer. As for the Dali exhibition, it was great to see the sculptures but again no hospitality, kindness or friendliness. On my questions regarding the paintings, I was met with a rather snippy response that these are of course not the real ones, since these are worth millions but it’s certified copies… I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone - even not for the unique character of it.

🍷A Winery That Feels Like a Fever Dream (In the Best Way) If MONA and Willy Wonka opened a wine bar in a giant Rubik’s Cube… this would be it. And yes—there’s real Salvador Dalí art inside. Stick around for the levels, the wine, and the cheese (because obviously). Useful Info: 📍 Location: 58 Osborn Rd, McLaren Vale SA 🕰️ Time Needed: Give it at least 2 hours (we stayed 3 and still weren’t done!) 🎟️ General admission: $20 which includes the tasting | $30 to include Salvador Dali exhibition 🍷 Wine to Try: The Sauvignon Blanc - green capsicum + jalapeño vibes 🧀 Food: Cheese platter and snacks available in the café on Level 3 🎨 Art: Real Salvador Dalí pieces on Level 2 + free MONA-style art on the ground floor

Earlier this month we went to visit McLaren Vale and learn a bit more about South Australia and their well known wine country Beautiful part of Australia, nice and friendly people and of course - Great wines ! First stop was D'Arenberg Winery and that was really good experience, filled with great vistas, good quality wines and excellent food. Cube was unexpectedly interesting with all permanent artifacts but also Salvador Daly's addition made it really pleasurable. Great work organizing that! Tried few different wines - all quite nice of course , almost hard to pick your favorite! But actually Star of the show was Food at d"Arry's Verandah Restaurant!!! We had beef fillet with bonemarrow and phenomenal jus and Duck meal. Not sure which one was better, really tough question. Quality of our meals was just next level!!! So, big shout to Chefs they can be proud of what they are offering there. BTW Service was also spotless, so nice friendly and natural. We would recommend to everyone!! Jana & Boris

Visiting the Cube is a truly wonderful experience. The art on display invites you to explore and offers a vibe that is unique to me—it's not a classic winery. During the wine tasting of the excellent red wines, Monique guided us through the individual wines in a very pleasant and informative way. Thank you very much and all the best! Let me know when you start shipping to Germany :)

My family and I went to D’Arenberg after visiting friends in Aldinga Beach. We’ve never experienced such unfriendly, hostile staff. From the moment we stepped inside the cube, our greeting from the Door Man was very cold. There is currently a Art Exhibition by Salvatore Dali we weren’t there for but was told if we weren’t sure we would be ‘charged anyway’ I explained we were sure we were just there to eat and see the cube. I asked how it worked and we were told to go up to level 3. We didn’t get to see the cube or what it is known for because of the lack of explanation from staff. We went to level 3 and tried to talk to staff: after politely saying ‘excuse me’ to a number of staff who walked straight past us. We didn’t know where to sit, or stand or how to go to the bathroom. I went to the bar and asked to get a drink. I was very rudely told she is in the middle of seating another group so needed to go deal with that. She looked at my partner and child up and down in disgust. We were not going to sit through more of this experience so decided to go to another restaurant nearby. While waiting at the elevator the staff came up and gestured a ‘what are you doing’ body language toward us. I said ‘I’m sorry we’re just going to head off. Thank you anyway’ we got a ‘whatever’ reply, and she smiled as she walked off. For reference to management her name tag said ‘Kay’. Very rude and odd. Not at all what we expected to experience and obviously very disappointed to make the trip out there only to experience such a terrible culture amongst the staff.

The d'Arenberg Cube is a one-of-a-kind 5-level structure in McLaren Vale, shaped like a cube puzzle. It features an array of attractions including art exhibits, wine tasting rooms, and a fine-dining restaurant. The renowned cube is home to a surrealist exhibition showcasing authentic Salvador Dali bronze sculptures and graphic artworks. Additionally, visitors can explore the wine inhalation room, virtual fermenter, 360-degree video room, several bars, and tasting rooms on the top floor.
We started at the blending bench with our host Mike which we enjoyed then headed to the next floor to have some lunch a gin cocktail and a wine we then went and checked out the art museum on the first floor which was interesting. The art everywhere is quirky and fun. We took a look at the art Marque and finished our day with some bottles of wine to have when we got home. The views are wonderful and the cube is quirky ,fun and unique with a really good vibe. The toilets are definitely a talking point 😊

I’d say the number 1 winery to visit, perhaps in all of SA. The building itself and views are simply unmatched. Any fan of wine, arts, and natural landscapes has to visit. The $20 entry included tasting of five white or red wines on the beautiful top floor, and access to the rest of the building’s decorative installations. We also spent $10 on the Dali exhibit, which was well worth it. It’s a very cool looking spot but maybe not the best for kids. There isn’t much for them here.

What a gem of a winery - the d’Arenberg Cube blew us away from start to finish. Ground level hosts a free art space that’s totally MONA-esque - immersive and unforgettable. Level 2 features real Salvador Dalí works - mind officially blown. Level 3 café serves vibrant SE Asian bites that hit the spot. Level 4 tasting room offers panoramic vineyard views and incredible pours. Their Sauvignon Blanc with hints of jalapeño and green capsicum alone was worth the trip. Friendly staff, unique vibes, and an experience you won’t find anywhere else - can’t wait to cube again!

The Salvador Dalí Exhibit at d’Arenberg Cube in McLaren Vale is a surreal experience featuring 25 authentic bronze sculptures and graphic artworks by the renowned artist. The Cube itself is a remarkable structure, with only 5 outlets for Dalí's works worldwide, each of World Heritage significance. Visitors are greeted by knowledgeable staff who provide insights into the sculptures and artwork, making the experience truly magical.
A beautiful experience for all ages! A surreal and inspiring visit—short and sweet, yet rich in detail. The exhibition space is thoughtfully designed, even including a couple of chairs for kids or elderly visitors to rest if needed. Definitely kid-friendly and engaging for the whole family. As Dalí once said, “The secret of my influence has always been that it remained secret.” This exhibition captures that mystery beautifully.

The Dalí exhibition in Mc Laren Valley Australia is a fantastic opportunity to get a close impression of Dalí's artwork. His sculptures are of an incredible beauty. Nestled in the picturesque McLaren Vale hills, Coriole Vineyards is a charming boutique cellar door housed in a historic 1860s ironstone barn. The estate is renowned for its innovative introduction of alternative grape varieties to the region, such as Sangiovese and Fiano. Visitors can savor an impressive range of wines including Sangiovese, Barbera, Picpoul, Nero d'Avola, Fiano, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
We visited Coriole Vineyards on a cold, rainy day and it couldn’t have been more perfect. We sat inside by the warmth of the cozy cellar door, sipping on delicious wines while the rain fell outside. The atmosphere was inviting and relaxing, making it the ideal spot to settle in and enjoy the afternoon. The staff were professional, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable – they made us feel so welcome and were fantastic at pairing the wines, helping us discover new favourites. It was such a memorable experience, and I can’t wait to return on our next trip to McLaren Vale.

My first visit here was to listen to the Adelaide Baroque musicians perform Eastertide Passions and Sorrows. It was a great performance which also provided the opportunity to explore this lovely vineyard with amazing views. I didn't try any of the wines but did interact with one of the staff members who was most helpful and friendly. The number of people enjoying the food and wine would indicate that it is a popular venue to visit and celebrate special occasions.

We left full to the brim (both from the food and wine) and very satisfied. The staff were equally great, enthusiastic, informative and helpful. Will be back soon

Lovely estate and fantastic wine. Our main waiter unfortunately did not give us information about each dish on the feed me menu and a paper menu was not provided...it took away from the experience. Nevertheless tasting room staff where delightful and the overall experience was lovely

Coriole, what a spectacular gem! Despite the temperament weather on the day, it didn't dampen the experience of wining and dining. The views were amazing, adding a touch of magic and romance to the day. We enjoyed the feed me tasting menu @ $85pp plus accompanying wines overlooking the vineyards. The lush picturesque vibe just complimented the carefully curated menu. The top notch food and wine combo ticked all the boxes that created the tapestry of the an experience. 🌟House made bread & butter Coriole olives Charcuterie pickles 🌟Beef carpaccio black garlic vincotto Parmesan 🌟Beetroot kale golden raisin curd sunflower seed salad 🌟House-made pasta Italian sausage leek Parmesan 🌟Sirloin pumpkin Brussel sprouts salsa verde 🌟 Roasted potatoes rosemary salt & vinegar side 🌟Garden leaves radish herb vinaigrette Then to finish off with Chef’s dessert, with Adelaide hills cheese seasonal fruit paste lavosh. Superb wines to pair. Unfortunately the service had its ups and downs, our main waiter serving us didn't quite hit the mark, lacked enthusiasm but kudos to the waitress who stepped in several times – she was absolutely excellent, with great smiles and she took time to share her knowledge and history of the region! Sometimes it's the standout moments with staff that really shape the experience. The gardens are sustainable, with whats grown in the veggie patch is served in the restaurant. The flowers and path leading to the back restrooms is also worth a mention. We would come back again for more tastings and enjoy the ambience but definitely recommend making reservations.

We visited Coriole for the wine tasting. What a lovely place! At the counter, Duncan was efficient despite the crowd and generously let us try a handful of different wines. He could answer any question and guided us to what could be the best fit. The Chenin blanc and the Grenache Gris, not common in McLaren Vale, were a pleasant surprise!
Marc W — Google review
We had the $95 a head lunch. The food was sensational and accompanied by a lovely 2008 Chenin Blanc. In addition to the 5 course degustation menu we were also served a couple of samplers as well which was a nice touch. We were so full by the end of it we didn’t need dinner! As a bonus the location is beautiful and so close to Adelaide. We would highly recommend dining at Coriole

An unforgettable lunch at Coriole! The food is absolutely outstanding, showcasing the best of local, seasonal produce with real creativity and care. Our small group of 3 shared three entrées and the house-made focaccia to begin with, all bursting with flavour and beautifully presented, and a main dish each to follow. I ordered the perfectly cooked sirloin, served with pumpkin and brussel sprouts which was absolutely faultless! And we all agreed: exceptional food, outstanding wine, very friendly and attentive service from Lachlan, and stunning views over McLaren Vale. A must-visit!

d'Arry's Verandah Restaurant is a hilltop gem located in McLaren Vale, offering stunning valley views and a changing menu that showcases refined dishes. The restaurant sources fresh, local produce and quality fare from regional producers to create innovative dishes crafted by top chefs. With an architecturally striking cellar door and a shaded outdoor area, d'Arry's Verandah provides an intimate and carefully curated dining experience.
This is quite possibly the most romantic lunch spot i have ever been too. We had champagne and sat there for a couple hours watching the world go by. Shared the bread - which was incredible. The texture of the warm bread is glorious. Ordered the beef along with the passionfruit souffle. The food was wonderful. The souffle was a textural wonderland. We also ordered the chocolate fondant but it was a bit too rich and we abandoned it for the souffle. This was such a beautiful experience.

We got a beautiful spot on the outside as the weather was good. Two of us had the prawn for entree. It was Prawn good but not something I would eat twice. We have the chicken and beef steak for main. Chicken was decent with the sauce contributing alot to the taste. Beef was amazing and it made the visit worth it. We were recommended a Rose which paired very well with the food and weather. Dessert was excellent 👌🏼 Very friendly service - would definitely recommend.

This restaurant is amazing…you have to go! We had lunch after doing a wine tasting and visiting the Dali exhibition. Everything was exquisite from the welcome to the service to the amazing food. I ordered the beef and my wife the duck, and both were beautifully prepared and presented, and the flavours were to die for. My beef was so tender. The other thing that was great was that the portion size was very generous for both the starter and the main dish. How many times have you been to a fancy restaurant only to leave hungry after spending $150 each? Not here! It truly was one of the most delicious meals we have had for a long time. And it was very reasonable. For $90 you get the wine tasting, entry to Dali and a 2 course meal (excluding any drinks). Super value!

We had the most amazing lunchtime dining experience here today! Every meal was delicious! A delight for the tastebuds! Service is spot on and the atmosphere and views here are perfect! We have been here several times now and it is worth the 1hr 10mins to get here! We ate a lot as we always do because we just wanted to try everything! Lol Highly recommend 10/10

What a sensational lunch and dining experience! On Monday, I had guests in town and we headed out to McLaren Vale. We popped into the Verandah for lunch and they kindly sat us but I highly recommend making a booking because it was packed even for a weekday. The food was sensational and the lobster ravioli was like one thousand angels kissing my tongue

Had a wine tasting and lunch but ran out of time so only a quick visit to the art. Food was absolutely amazing. Wine tasting average - hard to hear the host and very noisy in the tasting room. Tasting took longer than the suggested 30mins as slow to pour next round. The awesome view and food made the experience.

My family have been buying wine from here for years and when I'm back in Adelaide we often enjoy a drive up to the Vale and have lunch at the Verandah. The food is always delicious and each time we forget how generous the portions are, order 3 courses and roll out the door. It's a beautiful spot to while away a few hours.
Miss G — Google review
A wonderful time at D’Arenberg today. Before our lunch booking we had a complementary wine tasting and entry to the Salvador Dali exhibition in the cube - great fun! We had the 3 course lunch set price menu at D’Arry’s Verandah and it was truly memorable. We added some oysters to start. My highlight was the passion fruit soufflé but it was all delicious. Great service! Allow plenty of time to enjoy the whole experience. Highly recommended!

I have explored numerous fish and chip establishments across Australia, but none compare to the excellence found at Vale's Pizza Bar. Located in Semaphore, this eatery offers a delectable array of seafood options, with Tasmania also earning praise for its offerings. The fish is thick and flawlessly cooked, while the steak sandwich impresses with its generous portion size and tender, flavorful meat. Additionally, their homemade chips are incredibly delicious.
Good food 90% of the time. Quick delivery and resonable on price

I am Absolutely disgusted & appalled. I only work in McLaren Vale area fortnightly so I treat myself to a local pizza which is very pricey almost $40 & I don’t always have the $$$ for a treat myself dinner and I got home looking forward to my pizza prize, only to open the box to find a very overcooked & burnt pizza. I ordered item way before the dinner rush & no on was in store so it wasn’t busy, so why did my pizza look more like it had gone through a crematorium rather than a pizza oven ? I was a regular here but I had to throw the pizza straight into the bin. Almost $40 & I’ll never get my money back, which sucks cause I work hard to earn a little reward, so here is photo proof right here showing my pizza, this is not good enough in my opinion. A pizza should be gooey cheese mouth watering & not resemble a cremation service. No way will I ever be back again, you lost a regular customer which is a shame as I like to support local small businesses. How can a local pizza business get it so wrong ? It’s clear you either don’t know how to use your pizza oven correctly or all the care for your product & customer has gone out the window & you don’t care about a quality product for your customers at all. Zero out of ten avoid at all costs unless you enjoy a crematorium pizza that is 🍕

'Burger with the lot' and a Yiros today. To be fair my wife enjoyed the Yiros. The burger, while containing a good selection of ingredients was sloppy/juicy to the extreme except for the bun which was hard on the base. Sorry but at $40.15 for the pair I just can't recommend. Drive on.

$70-$80 for a large cheese, large meat lovers, large supreme and a pineapple fritter. All tasty and well made. Staff were kind enough to deliver to the caravan park so we didn't have to do a pickup order.

We ordered Pizza here for 8 Adults, good range of pizza's and sizes, But unfortunately the gourmet pizza and the traditional are the same, they look the same and tast the same, except for the price, we couldnt tell the difference in the pizza's when we opened the boxes to share them around, toppings on the pizza are very slim, still tasted.... just ok guys.
Nigel B — Google review
Tried to support a local business but the response to a large order (10 large pizzas )was appalling. Instead of ‘sorry we can’t meet this order’ I pretty much got scolded for calling. I tried to be as flexible with time and the order to make it work but unfortunately the person taking the order wasn’t. We went to Dominoes instead and had efficient, friendly service, with tasty pizzas.

Burnt under cooked pizza. Did not listen to our requested for toppings. Both pizzas went i the bin. Shame. It cost enough. Will not go there ever again.

Beach Road Winery & Restaurant is a delightful spot offering traditional Italian-style pizzas and stunning views of the vineyards, d'Arenberg Cube, and Willunga Hills. Located just a short drive from Bellevue B&B, it's an ideal place to savor their wines paired with delectable pizzas from their wood-fired oven named Queen Margherita. The winery also provides a two-course set lunch menu featuring shared starters and pizza, with the option to order dessert separately.
A lovely casual lunch venue, with views, which is what I was after for a week-day birthday lunch with a toddler in tow. We sat under the tree on the paving which was lovely, and there was a sandpit nearby for Miss 2. Not overly busy, but still a really nice atmosphere with other couples and families with young ones. Tasty pizzas, great coffee and friendly service. We'll definitely be back.

Beach Road Wines was great! The pizza, cheese plate, and fruit board were perfect! It is a lovely family owned place with Briony, Tony, and their son Max. You should visit for beautiful views and a nice, relaxing atmosphere for lunch!

Our 1st visit, is was really lovely looking out to the vineyards. Friendly and happy staff. Delicious pizza and drinks. The food took a while to come out otherwise we would of given it 5/5. The red wine was very nice. We know next time to just buy the whole bottle 😋.

We weren’t going to a winery but after meeting the owner in town (chatting about caravans lol), he suggested we come up for lunch. Well we were not disappointed!! The pizza 🍕 was delicious, gorgeous views, amazing service from Gemma and the White Sangria with mint was to die for!! 🍷 Nom nom 🤤 would highly recommend!

My daughter had her wedding at this venue and I couldn't fault a thing. The staff were so friendly and attentive making her feel so special but also so calm knowing everything was under control. The location and atmosphere was stunning, the food delicious and the service was next level. I would highly recommend Beach Road wines for your special day. Thank you to everyone that was involved for an outstanding day.

Wish I could give you 10 out of 5 stars!!! We had our wedding at Beach Road Wines and it was perfect!!! And what an amazing view!! The staff looked after all our guests extremely well and so many of our family and friends have told us how impressed they were with the venue. The Beach Road team ensured that all the details were taken care of and all our other suppliers loved working there also. Honestly all I had to do was roll up on the day and get married, no stress at all. It was a magical day thanks to Beach Road Wines and we look forward to visiting them in the future for lunch and to relive our perfect day!

We celebrated my birthday lunch here with a group of 14 and chose the $55 set menu. Every single dish was delicious, and everyone commented on what great value it was. The live music created a beautiful atmosphere—at just the right volume so we could still chat easily, adding to the overall ambiance. Even though the weather was a bit rainy and chilly, the enclosed veranda kept us cosy while still offering sweeping views of the vines and valley. A wonderful experience all round. I’d highly recommend this venue for any occasion.

We arrived as a group of 16 (including children & a puppy) mid week without a booking, we were all warmly welcomed, 6 of us did the wine tasting, we all ate outside as it was a beautiful day, only 2 staff & 1 chef working (expected as we didn’t have a booking) however nothing was too difficult, the staff were extremely friendly & helpful. The food came out in a timely manner with no complaints at all, everything tasted amazing (trio of dips, cheese & garlic pizza, multiple pizzas, crispy potatoes & warm olives), wine tasting was great, will definitely be back!

McCarthy's Orchard Cellar Door is a must-visit spot for those who appreciate craft beverages and fresh produce. Located on Sand Road, this family-run establishment offers a unique experience with its apple and pear ciders, heirloom fruits, old-vine wines, and plum liqueur. The cellar door exudes a warm ambience with eclectic and rustic decor that highlights the history of the place.
During our Tuesday meeting with Mark the owner of McCarthy's Orchard, he extended an invitation to visit his cellar door on a day when he wasn't open for business. Respectfully declining, I promised to return on Friday and kept my word. Today, I had the pleasure of discovering an outstanding family run cellar door and a true gentleman who granted me his time, engaging in meaningful discussions about the vineyard and life's pathways. Mia our host and eldest daughter of Mark was adorable bubbly and friendly. The wine's were top notch the pear pizza was delicious. Loved the outdoor setting and the rustic indoor setting which had 2 wood fires going. It's a must visit absolutely loved McCarthy's Orchard cellar door.

Had a fabulous time here on Mother’s Day, cheese board and pizzas were delicious. Wine taster was good - lovely red wines and staff member explained them all to us which was a nice touch. The “fire room” was comfortable, ideal for our kids, the toilets were quirky but immaculate. The staff could not have been more helpful. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

We absolutely loved visiting this orchard! Great vibes and drinks too. Excellent space for our toddler to run around too!

We thought we would visit somewhere we haven't been to before with the kids and found this beautiful place! We had such a lovely experience here today! Staff are lovely and the service was really good! Outdoor play for the kids is excellent, the pizza is delicious and the wine & cider options are great. Couldn't leave without bringing home some cider and a bottle of shiraz.

We stopped here on our trail hopper wine tour, at first it looked like it wasn’t open but we were soon enough greeted by Mark and welcomed into his shed to get to work, help pack apples!! Kidding… he sat us out the back where we did our tasting and learned all about the history of the orchard and winery. While we did the tasting Mark packed apples which was great, we had a lot of laughs and banter. The wine is beautiful, ended up leaving with a couple of bottles. The apple cider, you could drink all day - so crisp and refreshing!! We had so much fun, was a memorable visit and probably our fav stop we made. Highly recommend stopping by - this is a place that doesn’t take things too seriously and that’s the best part!
Darci B — Google review
We loved the ambience of the Cellar Door. The history of the place is highlighted in the eclectic and rustic decor. There is something incredibly special about having a family member lead you through the story of the wines, the history of the orchards and vines, the names of the wines and the meaning behind the labels during the tasting. Mia was so friendly and engaging. The plum liqueur is divine. Next time we’ll plan to have pizza there and enjoy sitting out on the deck. Being able to buy fruit fresh from the orchard by the entrance is a fabulous touch.

Great for families - can sit inside on the vintage furniture, on the deck or on the grass area. They have a mud kitchen & boat for the kids to play with. Great pizzas and drink selections.

Great, unpretentious place to spend some time at in McLaren Vale. The wine selection was very good & not too expensive. Really enjoyed the Shiraz. Pretty tasty ciders too, not overly sweet. Very chilled environment there, nice & cost with the fire going. Dog friendly too 👍🏼. The on-site pizza was good, although pretty pricey in my opinion $28 for a pizza is a bit over the top.
