Armenia in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Armenia, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Armenia, in Colombia’s Coffee Triangle, is a gateway to lush coffee farms and landscapes recognized by UNESCO as the Coffee Cultural Landscape. Visitors can tour traditional fincas to see how coffee is grown and processed, then sample it at the source. Nearby attractions include the popular Parque del Café theme park and easy access to the Cocora Valley, known for its towering wax palms and cloud-forest hiking. The city itself offers a relaxed atmosphere, with leafy plazas, local markets, and regional cuisine.
With favorites like Todo Chuletas, Quindío. Botanical Garden, and Territorio de niños, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like GARDEN Resto Bar and Todo Chuletas so you can get the best taste of Armenia while you’re here. Park
Vida Park, a recreational area in Armenia, is an enchanting destination renowned for its scenic walking trails, serene pond with ducks, and vibrant holiday lights. Entry to the park costs 4,000 pesos and is accepted only in cash. Diverse species of birds, fish, and guatins inhabit the park's premises. Visitors can purchase corn at the entrance for 1,000 pesos to feed these animals. The amiable birds tend to pursue anyone carrying a bag of corn.
This is a beautiful park with a lot to see. There is a small admission fee, but it is well worth the money. The gardens are beautiful full of colorful plants. There are capybaras and lots of birds and hummingbirds. During the Christmas season you can visit at night and see a beautiful light display.
Jerry R — Google review
A gift from the National Federation of Coffee Producers to the city for their first century. Most of the people know just the front part, the one closer to Bolivar Avenue but the park is actually bigger than that, it goes all the way to Centenario Avenue.
Mauricio T — Google review
Excelente place to enjoy a quite and interesting walk. We saw few samples of the national flour. "Orchideas". There are also free running animals like roosters, chickens, ducks and small capybara like animals. Great peaceful environment in the middle of the city.
Carlos M — Google review
One of the best parks I’ve ever been to in my life. I love that you can buy a bag of food to feed either the fish or the birds. My mother and I had such a lovely time in nature and being amongst the beautiful animals. We certainly plan to return! I highly recommend this park for every one of all ages.
Khadija M — Google review
I really like this place. I hope it will be maintained for the lovely animals that live in it. We saw many agoutis and birds.
Jessi O — Google review
Beautiful park to visit. Entrance is COP 4000 per person and COP 1000 if you want to buy food for the birds or fishes. A lot of benches to relax at and different paths to discover. They also sell beverages and ice cream inside the park, close to the entrance.
Andreas — Google review
Very peaceful park! There was a concert going on and few people even for a Sunday. The water features were really nice. We also enjoyed some tea and coffee.
Camila C — Google review
Large park in the center of the city. Lots of restaurants around the park and several food stands inside the park. Very family friendly with hills, water features and wildlife. Home to a moderate group of friendly Central American agouti. Well worth a day of exploration.

Parque de Los Fundadores is a charming park located near Parque de la Vida in Armenia. It offers small outdoor cafes nestled under the shade of trees, making it a pleasant spot for a leisurely stroll. While generally safe, it can get crowded and visitors should be mindful of pickpockets. Adjacent to the park, there are various restaurants and a bustling commercial area.
Very nice outdoor space with lots of greenery. Lots of urban buses pass through here.

Excellent steak house! For $12 I had a chateaubriand that would put to shame all of your big name, big bill, steak houses in the US. I guarantee you would pay $125 and still get a subpar cut compared to this steakhouse in Colombia.

Small but interesting enough to relax and walk a bit while planing for the next place to go. Although I did not have the chance I would had enjoyed a nice dinner or beer at night here. Maybe next time when I come back.

Bolivar plaza, named after the liberator Simon Bolivar, is located in Caracas, Venezuela and has a significant presence throughout Colombia. This public space serves as a hub for various activities such as skateboarding, music performances, religious preaching, and business transactions. It is an ideal place to stroll or sit on one of the numerous benches while enjoying the atmosphere and fresh air. The plaza is always bustling with people and exudes a vibrant energy.
Beautiful place, historic monument honoring Bolivar (as customary in Colombia), the best is the cathedral, fully in cement, but you don't realize it is really cement until you pay careful attention. My respects to the architect and builder.
Julio R — Google review
It’s a beautiful place, so quiet a relax, but there are some homeless, and maybe you feel so insecure.
Camilo G — Google review
Love this square. Feel comfortable here. A lot of cafes around and good eating establishments. I like the fact there are activies for children to do. My 3 year old loved the electric cars on the plaza along with the electric dinosaurs to side. Nice square.
Johnny C — Google review
"Monumento al esfuerzo" is the title of the masterpiece created by Rodrigo Arenas Betancur for Armenia's. Also the township building is across the cathedral, a fun fact about it: back in the days all furniture and employees were located at the right side of the biulding (left wing was empty) people use to say it was related to a slight "tilt" of the tower.
Mauricio T — Google review
A town without the central plaza is not a town in Colombia. This is one is again worthy of visiting. A couple especial items here: The government build on the side "Gobernación" offers a small art display room with very representative artists from the region. I also enjoy looking at the wide mural on one side of the plaza
Carlos M — Google review
The liberator, Simon bolivar born in Caracas, Venezuela and has a legacy and footprint in nearly every City in Colombia. I love the public space of the plaza where everyone gathers to skate, play music, preach the gospel, and hustle up sales for whatever business.

Nestled in the heart of Plaza de Bolivar in Armenia, the Cathedral Inmaculada Concepción stands out with its unique architectural style that sets it apart from other churches across Colombia. Visitors are often captivated by the stunning stained glass windows that adorn its interior, creating a serene atmosphere perfect for reflection. While some may notice areas needing maintenance, such as cobwebs on the ceiling, this does not detract from its charm.
One of the most iconic religious places in the city.

The cathedral is located in the Plaza de Bolivar in Armenia. It has a beautiful architecture not often seen in other churches I’ve seen in Colombia. The inside has beautiful stained glass windows. The one thing we noticed is the cleaning/maintenance seems to be lacking, as the ceiling is full of cobwebs.

This cafetaria offers high-quality coffee and chocolate. The service is very friendly and knowledgeable, making it a perfect spot for a chat with friends or a romantic evening. There is also a great variety of food, from snacks to full meals.
Very neat cafe in central Armenia. Good coffee and good food. The interior decorations are amazing, with comfy couches to rest your culito. Music is sounds of birds in forest and it almost put me to sleep, so would have preferred some other cafe style music.

Located at the downtown of the Quindío capital city, Armenia, this coffee it's one of the most convenient options when it comes up for chilling with friends, have a talk with your business partner, share some time with your couple, or simply just a family time with tasty beverages and bakery products. The price is quite above the average for the city just because this is beyond the regular or good experiences. The personal could improve a lot, isn't that bad, nonetheless they need to match with the place - atmosphere - products.

I'm a repeat costumer, every time I'm in Armenia for work, i stop to your restaurant minimum one time, most of the time 2 times a day. I always eat "Torta de Almojabana" ....I loved, even today was really good but the cream wasn't/t as usually. The texture was off and lumpy. I call the server and ask if please can check in the kitchen what's happen, she come back with the same sauce and argue with me the sauce was perfect and always is like that, when i answer back my opinion she continued argued with me. teach to your nice server, maybe Saray, even if i was wrong next time she can resolve the problem in better way, also later when i show the pics of the cream with the real texture i find on your reviews, she insist in tell me i was wrong. Unfortunately what i want to say about this, is for a simple thing and not a good management skill tonight you lost valuable costumer, his daughter and his partner, because most of the time we travel all together, and i feel really sorry to avoid one of the best spot in Armenia for a breakfast, coffee and drink, just for a overbearing server and absent manager in the store. Thanks and keep training the people stay in the floor and decide themselves how to resolve problem with the costumers Stefano

Boludo Parrilla is a remarkable restaurant in Armenia that serves exceptional food. The beef they serve is delectable, with a juicy and perfectly cooked texture. The service provided by the staff is excellent, as demonstrated by their efforts to accommodate customers' preferences, such as finding sports games. The cocktails offered are delightful and the view from the restaurant is breathtaking. This establishment comes highly recommended for meat lovers seeking the best steak in town.
The Buffalo Filet Minon was delicious. Cooked perfectly, lightly seasoned, very tender. The fried plantain was fantasic and it came with a nice salad and a potato. There was a nice view of Rio Quindio. The sevice was excellent and we were seated right away.

Food was pretty good. The service was very good. I didn’t like how the meat was served on a hot iron. Due to the meat being served on the iron, the meat kept cooking and the oils from the meat would pop and burn you/get on your clothes. They also didn’t have many vegetarian options… It was good and drinks were really good, but unless I am with only meat eaters, I wouldn’t return.

Place has a nice vibe, food is great, that Chateaubriand was cooked perfect, I asked for rare and they delivered. My only pick about it is, the plate need something to bring all the elements together, I'm sorry but a small baked potato that probably costs 25 cents isn't enough, where's the mashed potatoes? I'd rather have steam brocoli or sparragus instead of that sweet plantain (it was delicious tho'). The chinchulines ceviche it's alright, not good, not bad, just alright. The Chateaubriand was amazing and 450 g is a generous piece of meat.

Boludo is the Jewel of restaurants in Armenia. Everything about this place is perfect. Atmosphere, service and food excellent. I would say this is absolutely & with no doubt the best restaurant in Armenia. I had strip loin medium rare and that was exactly what I got. It was seasoned perfectly, I added nothing to it. Coco de lemonada was great as well. If you want a steak this is the place to go. I would rate it 10 stars if it was available. Everyone needs to experience this place, it is worth every penny.

Zipline was exciting and lots of fun for the family high up in the trees. Took about two hours from gearing up to finish. Guides were experienced and friendly. Good idea to call ahead to schedule your visit. Support this local family owned business!

Absolutely astounding place! "Flying" on top of natural forests was amazing! Will come back for sure. Better to buy tickets directly from them instead of travel agencies.

What an amazing place for canopying. The property is gorgeous and the owners are warm and welcoming. They do require that you book in advance to your visit, and they were ready for us when we arrived. Come with high expectations because they'll meet them no problem. They make sure you understand the rules and what you need to do to enjoy your ride safely. 100% recommended!

This is a perfect place for someone who loves exploring nature and wants to do something adventurous. The zipline is really nice and big and will give you a sense that n adrenaline rush.

We had an amazing time at this zipline/canopy. There are a total of 6 lines. All 6 with a great view of a combination of native trees, jungle and plantain trees. They 6 rides are a vieriety of speed and suitable for the whole family. Our 5 and 8 year olds loved it, whi didnt stop talking about the whole experience. The place is run by a friendly and welcoming family that will make you feel at home. I absolutely recommend to visit them. The 6 ziplines will take between 30min to an hour depending on group size.
Ivan B — Google review
The host was really kind, the forest is beautiful and the experience was nice and fun.

Very nice place to go ziplining. It's in the middle of a beautiful forest. Such a nice owners, very helpful and super friendly. It's best to let them know you are coming, just give them a call. The canopy tour consists of 6 stations. You can easily find them via google maps. I would highly recommend this zipline adventure if you're visiting the coffee region.

One of the best Frijoles with Chicharrón on whole Colombia, this place is authentic typical and excellent home made taste

Great family spot. The portions are plenty, and the food is delicious.

Quality ingredients you can taste, they are fresh, and the way they cook them is truly traditional. Kind service, but there are a few crew members that were not that into providing the best service. The place for kids has room for improvement a lot to be honest. Prices are above the average for the same food, service, and type of place.

Quindío Botanical Garden is a serene and unique destination featuring a diverse collection of palm species, a captivating butterfly garden, and opportunities for birdwatching. Adjacent to the garden is a popular restaurant offering an extensive menu of traditional local dishes. Visitors can also embark on a three-hour tour that delves into the native and non-native bamboo species, with the option to explore the gift shop or head straight to the butterfly house.
Juan was an excellent guide. He explained a lot about the animals and plants in the park. The scenery is stunning and has some fun elements with bridge crossings and a high floor look out. The butterfly garden was also amazing with different varieties and tortoises. The tour took 2 hours.
Sean Q — Google review
Exceptional plant collection amongst walking trails. There’s some nice architectural elements too, and a couple places to watch bird life and butterflies. Note they only have guided tours.
Jon P — Google review
After arriving in the coffee triangle 6 months ago I have finally made it to the botanical garden. What an amazing place. There were many photographic opportunities. The beautiful plants, birds, hummingbirds and butterflies offered an exciting visit. You are provided a guide that takes you through the gardens and explains everything in detail. I was lucky enough to have Dora assigned as the guide to my group. She is well informed, professional and speaks really good english. It is a bit of a walk and some of it is up and down hills across hanging bridges and such, but if this suits you, you will get to experience several different areas each containg different diverse habitats. You will get to see exotic birds from a little enclosed viewing area. Unfortunately you are seperated from the birds by large windows, but it is really pretty to see. There are also two hummingbird areas with feeders with lots of hummingbirds and a big tented area for the butterflies. It was a great tour and a great day. I cant wait to return. I hope Dora will be assigned to my group again.

Bit pricy with 66.000 Pesos per Person. Guided walking tour starts strong but is far too long with 3h and 2h would be more than enough. Also no English tour available. + nice walk through mini jungle + jungle bridge + jungle mirador + Even with wheel chair or buggy accessible - too big groups (~20 people) maked it hard to see animals - bit pricey - too long - too much Information about tunnels and insects - not enough Information about flowers, mainly about trees - due to being half open, mariposario is not really showing a lot of butterflies when it is raining

Wonderful experience with Dora our guide through these beautiful and peaceful gardens. Lots of flora and fauna to see and we learnt a lot from Dora, thank you! The hummingbirds were a delight!

I absolutely enjoyed my visit to the Garden. I did not expect the additional information and display of the tunel system. My guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I was able to learn about many trees, palms and local animals. The butterflies were beautiful.

Nestled in the heart of Armenia, Colombia, the Museo del Oro Quimbaya is a treasure trove that celebrates the exquisite craftsmanship of indigenous pre-Columbian goldsmiths. This remarkable museum not only showcases stunning gold artifacts but also features intricate ceramics and ceremonial items that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Quimbaya people. Visitors can delve into detailed English explanations about this fascinating culture while exploring both colonial and indigenous histories through various artifacts.
What a beautiful place and it's free! It's not very big, so take your time to discover all the treasures! The outside is worth walking around to admire the flowers and trees.

Mauricio T — Google review
Good free museum. A few exhibits and a cafe. Took about 40 mins to wander round. English signage on the exhibits.
Kevin P — Google review
Excellent place to stay as long as you want, because it is a safe and relaxing place. Inside the museum you will see a few collections of indigenous crafts and you will learn about different eras and historical events. There are also some rooms where you will see different art expressions for modern artists and also a conference room. In the surrounding of the main building, you could enjoy a beautiful garden with different trees, plants and a small pond where the frogs sing all day. It was a very good experience, the only thing to consider is that there is only one small coffee shop so the variety of food and prices is quite limited. PS: This building was designed by a famous Colombian architect named Rogelio Salmona, so if you enjoy architecture, this place is a must while visiting this city.
Juan A — Google review
Happy to have an excellent museum in the Coffee Region. Beginning by the architecture, the place is great to have been done by Rogelio Salmona, one of the best architects of all Colombia. The spaces play magnificent with the water and the nature that surrounds the place in the interior and exterior. In the interior saloons you have an excellent collection of local art that will blow your mind. A big thank you to the administration for the great development.
JOSE C — Google review
The Museum is free to enter and we enjoyed the water feature. We noticed there was basically nothing to see so we stopped and spoke to a security guard. She explained, that the museum was closed for six years and is currently under reconstruction. It's free for now and will be completely reopened with lots to see in August 2023.

It's one of the 5 or 6 "Museo del Oro" in Colombia. This one explains who were the inhabitants of the region before the Spanish arrived. The building is well known (locally) for its architecture and it has a small but well cared garden and coffee shop.

Restaurante Machu Picchu in Quindio offers a fantastic dining experience with authentic Peruvian cuisine. It is known for its delicious dishes, breathtaking view, and friendly service. This restaurant stands out in the area as it is hard to find another place that serves such high-quality Peruvian food. The ceviche, mixed lightly fried seafood, Lomo soltado, and seafood cazuela are all fresh and packed with flavor.

Updated summer of 2021. Even though I did not like the food the first time, I tried it again because of a new location. Unimpressive food that could barely be considered Peruvian. Its Colombian food and not very good at that. New location and the same really bad food. What a waste of time and money. Staff was friendly but that is just the start of what a restaurant needs to be.

In the vicinity, there are three establishments named Bianco. Among them, two are situated in Armenia, while one is located near the airport. It is important to note that only one of the Biancos in Armenia functions as an Italian restaurant. The other solely offers bread products. For a true Italian dining experience with delectable pasta and main courses, it is recommended to visit the Bianco adjacent to Portal Del Quindio mall.
Super cute little Italian restaurant. The Calamari was a bit chewy but had great flavor. The Pizza and Meatballs were really delicious. Food portions are big. The ambiance of the place is also really nice. Top quality service also and very friendly.

There are 3 Biancos in the area. Two in Armenia and one by the airport. Note that the two in Armenia, only one of them is the Italian restaurant. The other only serves bread. Go to the Bianco by the Portal Del Quindio mall if you want the Italian restaurant with pasta and entrees. Excellent Italian here, fresh and high quality ingredients. Loves the octopus, lomo carpaccio, and the lomo entree (superb!) medium rare to perfection. I think they use sous vide for their lomo. Lemonada de coco was also excellent.

Darpapaya is a stunning destination that captivates visitors with its beautiful decor and breathtaking views. Nestled conveniently near supermarkets and shopping malls, it offers both accessibility and charm. The culinary experience here is noteworthy; the salmon dish stands out for its perfect preparation alongside fresh veggies and creamy mashed potatoes. While the coffee could use some improvement, the attentive staff promptly addressed any concerns, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
Beautiful restaurant and decor in a decent location. I recommend the arroz chaufa de mariscos. My food was a bit cold when it came out and the other plates were average. Service was average as well but they were friendly.
Don G — Google review
Very pretty restaurant but food and service were not good. We ordered a salad that came with chicken and they ran out of chicken for it. We ordered a cazuela de mariscos that tasted rotten and had a bad fish smell, they did not replace the dish and did not remove it from the bill. The lomo saltado, pork medallions and juices were good. We asked them to pack the leftover lomo saltado and pork medallions to take home and they only packed the pork, they did not include the lomo saltado which was half an entree leftover, very sloppy and inattentive service. There was only one other table there, it was empty. I do not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning, not worth the high price for such a bad experience.

It is a beautiful place with great decorations and an amazing view, however it is still in a great location. It is near supermarkets and shopping malls. The service is good but the food is better. I really loved the Salmon, it was cooked perfectly with veggies and mashed potatoes. I almost forgot to take the pic. I was a bit let down by the coffee, but the waiter changed it on spot for a better one. I also tried a watermelon lemonade cause it called my attention, it usually has jalapeno but I ask for one without it. It has nice bathrooms, with purse hangers. As far as I know,it is pet friendly and opens everyday.

I was told how good this restaurant is at providing great dishes. Perhaps my fault at an early diner but we were starving. Service was slow a 5pm. We ordered a guacamole dish that was worth 5 stars. But the lichen delivered smelly dishes and they took them back and didn’t return them. The female waitress blew us off and then we got the name server who was better. We ordered the pancetta fiber which wa a huge piece of chicharrón. And a steak dinner that was tough and over cooked. It’s a beautiful restaurant.

The service was nice and the place it's beautiful, but the food wasn't the best. I ordered Cerdo con salsa de miel And One half of it was overcooked and the other undercooked. The limonada de coco was too sweet at it felt like fake coconut juice :(
