San Antonio Hill, a stunning natural landmark in Piriapolis, is a must-visit for anyone exploring the area. Named after Saint Anthony, this hill features a charming chapel at its peak that dates back to the early 20th century. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of both the town and the Atlantic Ocean from various viewpoints along the summit. To reach San Antonio Hill, you have several options: take a scenic chairlift ride from the marina or drive up its winding roads.
Beautiful sightseeing with the visit. Small coffe shops and gift store make it better for tourists. The religious images are beautiful from classical to modern style. If possible, prefer a guided tour, as those leaving from Montevideo, so rich the local history is.

This place is one of the best sightseeing we have in Uruguay, it's a city called Piriapolis, surrounded by small hills and the beach. The road is not very steep, so you can easily drive up there. Over there there's a nice restaurant in which you can use the pool if you have lunch or dinner there. There are mementos for tourists, nice food and amazing views!
LAURA L — Google review
Stop on bus tour to Punta del Este from Montevideo. There are a couple of shops/restaurants.
Patmos. B — Google review
Beautiful landscape. To go in chairlifts they only accept cash. Cost 300 Uruguayan pesos per each to go and come back, if you decide just to go and come back walking cost is 200 Uruguayan pesos. There is a restaurant in the top, a santuary and a little shop to buy some beverage or gifts.
Luciano F — Google review
Awesome view! And you can climb up the hill on foot by some short cuts alongside the woods, very cool.
Lucas H — Google review
This place is worth it to visit. The view is amazing if you catch the good weather.😎
Michaela K — Google review
It’s a easy hiking hill (1-2 hours), during the whole journey going up the view is great, at the top there are 2 sourvenir stores, a statue of San Antonio and one small kiosko that sells drinks, torta frita and churros. The easiest way to get to the top is with the “aerosillas” 200 pesos round trip. If you have more time besides visitting the beach and going to Piria’s castle this is a must do.
Carlos D — Google review
Lifetime experience to watch the sunset from here. Unbelievable moments are captured in every evening.

Fuente del Toro

Park
Nestled atop Del Toro Hill, the Fuente del Toro offers a delightful escape into nature, where history and beauty intertwine. Once a lookout point for the Spanish army, this area has transformed into a popular hiking destination. The trek to Fuente del Toro is short yet fulfilling, guiding you through lush greenery and culminating in breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
Partially wheelchair accessible This is the third fountain in the trilogy of the free masons of Piriápolis. If you want to know more about the symbols spread over the city, I recommend you take a mystic city tour with a guide. You can get to the fountain by car. From below, you see the bronze bull and the seats in front, where pilgrims may relax - descanso del Toro. 33 steps lead up to the bull, where you find an altar-like table for pilgrims to offer what they brought. Another 80 steps higher will give you a beautiful view over the surroundings.
Sarah J — Google review
The Fuente del Toro hike is a short but rewarding trek. The path takes you through lush greenery and up a moderately steep hill. Along the way, you pass the charming Fuente del Toro spring, perfect for a quick rest. At the top, you're greeted with a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding hills and valleys. The effort is well worth it for the breathtaking scenery. It's a great hike for nature lovers looking for a quick escape and a beautiful vantage point.

Francisco Piria Castle, also known as Castillo de Piria, is a historical gem located in Uruguay. Built in 1897, this castle was the original residence of entrepreneur Francisco Piria and now serves as a museum offering guided tours for visitors. Situated alongside Route 37, the castle boasts beautiful architecture and houses an impressive collection of exhibits including paintings. While it has great potential to become a major tourist attraction, it currently requires more government funding to reach its full potential.
Beautiful castle and museum of F. Piria. If you're lucky enough there is a chance to rise to the roof. Entrance free. And don't forget that there is one more castle not far from there - Castillo de Pitamiglio.

If you don’t have your own transport it’s not really worth it. It’s a small display and although it was easy enough to get there if it wasn’t for the lovely security lady calling a taxi, it would have been an issue to get back! It’s free to visit but taxis were pricey and ultimately it’s not worth it. The place needs some TLC and maybe a bit more info in English but I translated what was there.
Spirit S — Google review
Well, it's on your way to Piriapolis, so you might as well spend a few minutes there. But there is not much to see. Just a small castle. I found many families resting under the shade of the trees there, having pick nicks. It's serene, quite place.
Vasilis M — Google review
Interesting in term of history and culture, but there is no so much thing to do and see. Park is great to have a break in the afternoon. All access is free (parking for car and entrance).
Olivier A — Google review
It’s a nice place to visit in autumn or spring, but you should definitely avoid it in summer, as there’s no air conditioning nor shadows, and the visit can be extremely unpleasant with high temperatures. The building is not big and it’s not fancy either, but is has some wonderful views from the inside, where you can see the hills around from the first floor. It’s located about ten minutes by car from Piriápolis, so it’s a nice place to go if you’re tired of the beach. I believe that it’d be great if they made some maintenance of the building, as it’s more than 100 years old. They could charge a small fee for the visit in order to keep it restored.
Sebastián H — Google review
A fantastic property with a great potential to be a major tourist attraction in Uruguay. But the place really needs to be included in some government budgets, to reach this potential. Mabel was a dedicated guide!

We asked for coca without sugar and both times they brought it with them, they brought us the food without plates and we had to ask for them twice, until it was almost cold. When paying, he passed the card through the post and went to another table, so the transaction had to be done again. The food was delicious, I recommend the fried sweet potatoes, very crispy. (Translated by Google) Beautiful place, very well located, we ordered the menu of the day that includes starter, main, drink and dessert. The dishes were excellent, portion size and good presentation. A varied menu. But the waiter's attention was lacking, little sympathy, almost no desire to serve. The place needs air conditioning and fans in the case of the terrace, otherwise a good place. Day 2

Southwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the southwest side side of town. Start the day off with Reserva de Flora y Fauna del Pan de Azúcar, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Playa La Rinconada Piriapolis. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Reserva de Flora y Fauna del Pan de Azúcar is a popular destination for families and nature enthusiasts. The reserve offers a variety of local wildlife, providing an opportunity to see and even interact with the fauna of the region. Visitors can enjoy hiking trails that lead to the top of Sugar Loaf Hill, offering stunning views of the surrounding area. The reserve also features amenities such as free parking, a zoo with native animals, and a restaurant for leisurely picnics.
I love this place! It was so fun to go with my kids who loved seeing all the different animals and plants there. It’s a huge reserve with so much wildlife to see and enjoy, plus you can also hike to the top of the hill from here as well, which I didn’t do (this time). The grounds also have a huge playground space for kids and families to play and have a picnic. There are places to buy food, drinks and snacks as well as bathrooms which were kept clean and tidy. It’s shocking to believe this park is FREE to visit which is one of the best parts! We’ll definitely be coming back here in the future and if you’re visiting the area this place is a MUST GO spot!

The Church of Piria, an intriguing site that began its construction in 1917, remains an unfinished masterpiece today. While the structure is now in ruins and access is restricted for safety reasons, it offers a unique charm for those who appreciate historical remnants. The church's beauty shines through its incomplete state, making it a fantastic backdrop for photography—especially at sunset when the light casts stunning reflections on its walls.
It's very beautiful place to visit and take pictures if you go at sunset you will be able to see the sun reflect on the church and it's even more beautiful

Hardly wheelchair accessible, getting there by car can become a challenge, The church has never been finished and falls into decay, which is a pity. It could transport a lot more of the city's history if equipped accordingly.
Sarah J — Google review
If you like ruins, this is a great place to visit. Piria's church is a very beautiful unfinished structure. It's a great place for taking pictures and petting a bunch of cats that live there. The reason it's not getting 5 stars is that it's not a place conditioned for visiting. There's a homeless person living inside the church, therefore it becomes awkward that you intrude in his space. The guy is friendly, of he sees you he says hi and let's you be. Also as it is unfinished, the inside of the church is just an empty space. Maybe it's a good place to stop by if you're around and if you know the story about Mr. Piria and the alchemy sense to the church, that way you can give the visit a bit more of meaning.
Romina Y — Google review

Cerro de los Toros, situated in Piriapolis, Uruguay, is a popular destination offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. This picturesque mountain stands at an elevation of 404 meters and provides breathtaking vistas of Piriapolis, the coastline, and the Atlantic Ocean. The hill features hiking paths that lead to a bull statue and a grotto at its summit. It's an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts and adventurers who enjoy trekking amidst beautiful scenery.
Beautiful place if you love trekking and appreciating amazing views of the beach and sea from the hills. There’s a lot of peace and connection to the nature there, if you’re looking for great adventures, pure air and nature, I recommend you. You don’t need anything special to climb it, besides good and comfortable shoes, clothes, enough water for the track and some sunglasses and/or a hat. You can climb it in 30-50 minutes depending on your skills and training.

(Translated by Google) The ascent and descent are very steep and dangerous, and there are no signs or personnel to watch out for those climbing. It should be done with plenty of time and calmly to avoid injury. It's important to take the time into account because the gate closes at 5:00 PM, and the ascent takes approximately 1 hour, even if done slowly. Wear appropriate footwear, long pants, and socks. Pay close attention to the marked trails along the path, as there are no signs. It's very easy to lose your way, which makes things difficult. Always carry 1 liter of water per person to hydrate, and keep your hands free. It's advisable to carry a stick to assist with the ascent and descent. This is not recommended after a rainy day. The solitary trees seen from below are very picturesque, and it's gratifying to reach them.

Last resort for food so wasn't expecting much. Rushed service but not that bad (to be fair a school party arrived at the same time). We had the paella with a glass of wine. Prices were reasonable but the paella was made with basmati rice and no crunchy burnt bits on the bottom. If I was Spanish I would have been very upset with the paella. To be fair the pizza looked fairly decent but we didn't try it.

EXTREMELY OVERPRICED! USD $70 for 2 beers and a picada de mariscos. In USD, 2x cubierto = $8, 2x beer = $11, picada de marisco for 2 = $35. After tax and service, more than USD 70 (2800 pesos)! I used to work in the seafood industry in the PNW so I am a seafood snob. I give the food 3 star because the fish was good, but the other seafood was not super fresh.

Cerro San Antonio is a must-visit in Piriapolis, offering stunning views of the bay and beach from its summit. The chair lift ride to the top is a popular activity, providing an exhilarating experience. At a good height, it offers breathtaking panoramic views. Additionally, visitors can explore the temple located at the summit. While there are shops nearby, they tend to be on the pricier side as is typical in tourist areas.
Fun drive up the hill too see spectacular views of Piriopolis beach. Cool town with vintage class. I’m very happy to have been able to take in the views and persona of this town.

not accessible for wheelchairs From this hill, you have a beautiful view over the surroundings and also on the other hills like Cerro del Toro, Pan de Azúcar. There's a little temple dedicated to St. Anthony which opens its doors for anyone who would like to pray. You can get there by car, there's a little bistro on site as well.

This is a blast. The view from the top of the hill is fantastic. You can see Punta de Este. Nice and slow ride. Only $200. pesos per adult. Will ride it again next time we are in town.

Fishing pier
We walked by this old fishing village as we strolled from Piriapolis to San Francisco beach. What an amazing place! Very atmospheric, with old decayed walking piers out into the surf from a bygone day. Fish was being sold right off the old boats, and had I had a place to cook it, I would have been a customer. A couple restaurants completed this picture out of something by Hemingway. Take a walk from Piriapolis and you will love this place. Recommended.

In addition to the dock, which is a little broken, but the kids love it, it has tables to sit and have a snack, drink mate or simply rest. It is surrounded by super fun rocks to climb. It also has a little beach full of snails and super picturesque fishing boats. Recommended place to go out of season on one of the precise winter days that the east gives us. La Casa de la Empanada is a delightful spot that truly captures the essence of comfort food with its extensive selection of empanadas. Located in a prime area, it offers quick service and an array of flavors to satisfy every palate—from classic ham and cheese to fresh seafood options like shrimp and hake. The portions are generous, ensuring you leave satisfied without breaking the bank.
Arrived exhausted after a day and a half of traveling from the US. Waitress was helpful with our limited Spanish, offered excellent suggestions and the meal (and the very nice house white wine) was first-rate and very reasonably priced. The Empenadas were some of the best we've had and the melted chief starter was excellent,

They didn't have tables available so we ordered takeout, while we were waiting for the potatoes that were delayed, a table became available and we sat down. After 10 minutes a waitress came saying that since we ordered takeout we were not entitled to a table, we asked if there was a reservation list, she said no. We explained that we ordered takeout because they didn't have room, but they got a little aggressive. There were other tables free, we don't know why they decided to kick us out. The food is average, expensive, the empanadas were cold and had half the flavors they offer, the potatoes take a while and the service has a system where you order in one place, pay in another and then you have to guess where they deliver the food, on top of that if you ask they are condescending and rude.

(Translated by Google) Very nice casino but those who work at the roulette table are a disaster, all the time they are criticizing and talking dirty because playing roulette we are not ones to tip and every weekend that we come they spend us criticizing and saying things that offend us throwing stick For the tip, obviously they tell us directly to our faces, they say to each other out loud, that's the worst! We are daily customers who always come to play, and if we have to talk to a manager we have no problem saying who they are since none of them have a name...

(Translated by Google) Review of 2024: sad pizza. They no longer make their own pizza, they don't even buy fainá. As for "pizzeria" they only have one pre-made option (more tastes). We went because it was excellent. Now it's one more minute. They still have a wood-burning oven in their logo. Now it's gas. Now they only accept cash or transfer. The strangest thing is that they force you to pay an extra 10% for service, which I usually put as a tip, but the fact that they add it claiming that it is the cutlery and the bread box, irritates me. Unfortunately I can't come back here if I want to eat pizza. I saw a group of people leave. I don't blame them. 2022 Review: Excellent pizza and very delicious fainá. Highly recommended. We went to dinner with the family, early otherwise it was full, and they set up a table for us. We ordered a meter of mozzarella and finito fainá. The food came quickly. Price is very taken into account.

They have good prices. I ordered for take out. Meter of Pizza, faina and french fries potatoes have good quality. The place only accept cash.
Luciano F — Google review
The pizza was burnt on the edges and the cheese was not well melted nor very hot in the middle. They also did not discount when using a foreign credit card which is not legal. How er, they did not charge a cover charge.
Kali S — Google review
Order was not right. Food was not that good. Had to knock it down to 1 star after finding out how much the food cost. $60? come on.

(Translated by Google) The food is excellent 🤩🤩🤩, the attention is the same. We ordered the Bauru (it is abundant) two people can easily eat. The double meat burger plus cheddar fries was great and the entrecôte with fries was perfectly cooked. There is POS, but as a fact I'll let you know that if you pay in cash they give you a good discount 😃😃😃. The prices are great, I would definitely visit them again. (Translated by Google) The pizza is delicious. The service and atmosphere need to be significantly improved. Smoke seeps into the dining room, making it quite uncomfortable at times. A shame for a place that's so well located. If they improve a few aspects, they'd grow significantly; they have potential.

Algo de Mi is a delightful culinary destination that has captured the hearts of many visitors. This charming spot offers an inviting atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. Diners rave about their exquisite Galician cake and homemade breads, which set the stage for a memorable dining experience. The menu features generous portions of house specialties like ravioli, entrecote with gnocchi, and seafood pasta that leave guests thoroughly satisfied.
What a hidden gem for dinner! The 3 of us were equally impressed by the quality of the presentation and taste of the food. The Chardonnay Reserva white from a local vineyard was very good as well, and the home made bread with rosemary was very fresh. Recommend the tallerines con crema de Mariscos, noquis, and pesca humida. All were excellent. The portions were generous, so we didn't have dessert. Will definitely return.

(Translated by Google) Very nice place, we have been several times. Entry with very delicious homemade breads. For lunch I ordered the chicken wok with rice and it was delicious. To drink, this time I chose a 600 Coca Cola. Keep in mind they charge $100 covered. They give you 15% discount with transfer or cash payment. Although the price is a little high, the service is always very attentive and the dishes never fail. (Translated by Google) A good place in the area. We ordered miniatures and Galician cake as a starter. This last one was exquisite. The miniatures were average. For mains we ordered the house ravioli, entrecôte with gnocchi and catch of the day. All dishes were abundant and delicious. There were 4 of us but having ordered 2 appetizers before, the waiter recommended that we order 3 mains instead of 4. One thing I think they have to improve is the time it takes to serve the dishes. The waiter told us that the miniatures took "maximum 5 minutes" and only after about 15 minutes did they bring them. The main courses also took quite a while. Beyond that I think it is a good place, within the area it is one of the best, the dishes are well served and the food is delicious. Something important to know is that there is 15% discount paying in cash (Original) Un buen lugar en la zona.

(Translated by Google) We loved everything! Very delicious food, with different options. Very nice setting, antique and preserved furniture, a covered but open gallery, very cozy. We would definitely return to try more dishes. This time we tried ratatuille (delicious), balls fisch (fish croquettes exquisite), shrimp Milanese, epic Milanese.
