Tupungato in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Tupungato, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Tupungato sits in the heart of Mendoza’s famed Uco Valley, known worldwide for its high-altitude vineyards and excellent Malbec and other varietals. Travelers come for wine tastings at modern and traditional bodegas, often paired with long, scenic lunches overlooking the vines. The backdrop of the Andes, dominated by the Tupungato volcano, offers striking views and opportunities for hiking and outdoor excursions. Small towns, rural lodgings, and quiet country roads give the area a relaxed, agricultural feel compared with busier parts of Mendoza.
With favorites like Tupungato Divino, Zorzal Wines, and Bodega Andeluna, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Bodega Jean Bousquet and Tupungato Divino so you can get the best taste of Tupungato while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Espacio Salentein is a modern winery located in the UCO Valley, surrounded by stunning views of mountains and vineyards. The building itself is made of cast concrete and offers a unique setting for wine enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy an exquisite menu paired with fine wines while taking in the beautiful Andes scenery. The venue also hosts art events, musical shows, and even serves as a destination wedding location.
Great place but make sure you reserve first or else you're stuck with just walking the grounds. Amazing menu, it's an experience for the senses. Great food, wine acompanied by a beautiful view of the Andes, there's nothing like it. If you smoke, you can step out onto the porch and sit in the sofas-enjoy an incredible view, don't forget your wine glass. Great service and I recommend buying their wine glasses at the gift shop and the olive oil. 🫒

We arrived there just on time for lunch. We were on one of the first tables to be seated. After choosing our menu and getting our first plate we realized that all the other tables had gotten some bread with some type of sauce. They forgot about us and totally pretended not to see that (even when they came to take the plates). The food is really good! But nothing special at all. I’d expect something more elaborated for this price (10,500.00 per person). The second thing that got me intrigued is that there was a street dog roaming around the restaurant and the waiters pretended that it was something normal. The dog was full of fleas and totally not taken care of. None of the waiters took the dog away (you would expect a high level restaurant not to have street animals roaming between the tables). At some point the dog even jumped on my GF and got her blouse mud dirty. The third and last thing was that there was SO MUCH trash on the grass. Pieced of paper, plastic, cigarettes. It seems like no one has ever cleaned that up. In the end, I’d recommend you to take the tour but eat somewhere else (maybe even better for that price tag). I didn’t enjoy it at all.

This was overpriced and awful. Driest pork I’ve had in my life.

Great experience. Interesting tour with unique elements to this winery and cellar. Nice wines. Beautiful setting. Friendly duck that roams the grounds.

My wife and I had a fabulous time on a private tour at Bodega Salentein. Our tour guide, Marcelo, made the experience memorable with his passionate and knowledgeable presentation, and we felt so very welcomed. The six wines we tried were all excellent and each at the top of its class. Our favorite was the Numina Gran Corte, which is a blend of malbec, cabernet, merlot, cab franc, and petit verdot. The Primus malbec 2015 was excellent as well. The tour normally takes 1.5 hours but we got along so well with Marcelo, it was well over 2 hours and we were still in tasting room when Marcelo finally was asked to move on. Just to demonstrate the tremendous hospitality this Bodega shows its visitors. Would love to re-visit next time we're in Mendoza.

If you're on the hunt for an unforgettable wine experience, look no further than Finca Adelma in the stunning Uco Valley. This charming winery offers a delightful blend of breathtaking views of the Andes and exquisite wines that will tantalize your taste buds. The passionate duo, Graciela and Elio, elevate your visit with their warm hospitality and deep knowledge of winemaking.
Don’t miss this fabulous winery in the Uco Valley! Wonderful wines with great stories and very tasty accompaniments to complement the tastings. They only grow red grapes but found the rose and ‘white’ Malbec/Cab Sav intriguing and Gauda was a wonderful hostess! Thoroughly enjoyed every wine and stories behind them.
Spirit S — Google review
Fun winery with great untraditional wine. Pouring is generous and it came with delicious empanadas.
Michal S — Google review
My husband and I really enjoyed the tasting. As past reviews mentioned, the empanadas are delicious. The wine’s spectacular. However, the cost of the tasting was much more expensive than my other of our 6 Argentinian winery experiences (approx.ARS$30,000 for 2 people). Therefore I subtracted one star.
Jeannine S — Google review
Hands down the best and most fun we had in all of our Mendoza wine tastings. Shout out to Graciela who made the experience! As a former chef, she had interesting food pairings including freshly made empanadas, that really showed the different nature of the wines. She taught us about the wines themselves, the winery and owners, Argentine culture, some folklore and had us laughing, eating and drinking throughout. It’s a bit unassuming when you drive up and doesn’t have the marketing dollars to be a big name but it’s a small, family owned vineyard with excellent wines and the best people. Truly stand out.
Lizzy M — Google review
We arrived at 4pm and had a wine tasting and food pairing. The empanadas and cheese board were delicious. The staff were exceptionally friendly and the wine was excellent. Would highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area

One of the best tastings we have every experienced! we were served freshly made empanadas and taught pairings during the tasting. Our host was VERY gracious, knowledgeable, and engaging. We highly recommend others to visit this winery!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Adelma was a very relaxing, fun, family oriented vineyard. The service we got was incredible. A lot of wine and the food pairing was to die for. Would 100% recommend!

Have you ever had a wine-gastronomic orgasm? Finca Adelma is the place to have multiple of them! Can't recommend enough! The atmosphere, the view of the Andes, the delicious wines, the best humita empanadas and the passion of Graciela and Elio for their job made me literally cry of joy!! Absolutely the best wine tasting experience in Mendoza, and we visited 6 bodegas! A sin to miss it if you visit Uco Valley! Many thanks guys, you made our palates dream and our heart explode of joy! ❤️

Nestled in the stunning Mendoza region, FINCA SOPHENIA offers an unforgettable wine-tasting experience that is not to be missed. Upon arrival, you might feel a bit intimidated by its fortress-like exterior, but don’t let that fool you! Inside, you'll find a warm and welcoming atmosphere led by the charming Marcelo, who brings humor and personality to every tour. Guests are treated to insightful discussions about the winery's unique soil and climate before diving into tastings of their exquisite reserve wines.
One of my all time favorite winery experiences. Marcelo was a fantastic host. He made me feel relaxed and welcomed. Plus the wines are fantastic. I highly recommend

Had an amazing tasting here with Marcelo! He was so friendly and funny, making my partners first tasting so memorable. It was obvious how invested in the winery he was, and very knowledgeable about all the wines. My favorite was the antisynthesis blend, so unique and spicy.

FANTASTIC!!! I will start with...if you are visiting Mendoza, you absolutely must, I repeat, you must visit Sophenia!!!! What a fantastic winery! The views, the wine, the cellar...the views, the wine, the cellar, the tasting room and Marcelo and Lucy! We spent our 25th anniversary visiting Sophenia and we had a spectacular time. Marcelo's knowledge of the vineyards and the wines being produced in the vineyard was spectacular. The tour was so nice. On top of that, he and Lucy treated us to a wonderful time in the tasting room. The entire experience was more than I could have hoped for while celebrating our 25th. I had planned to ask Michele to marry me again with an eternity ring while in Mendoza and realized that the place to do it was at Sophenia. Marcelo and Lucy, the atmosphere, the music and the wine made it the perfect venue. Tears were shed...mostly by me :-). Marcelo was a fantastic host and his graciousness made Sophenia THE winery of our visit to Mendoza. I am looking forward to our next visit to Mendoza and hope that we have the opportunity to spend time with Marcelo again when we visit Sophenia! I only wish there was more time to spend there and enjoy the wine and the atmosphere. It was so, so nice.
Matt K — Google review
Marcelo was the most excellent wine host!!!! Apparently there were some folks ahead of us buying wine (!) so Marcelo brought us wine to start! Then we got the talk about the winery, the soil, the climate, etc. We then got to the tasting!! MARCELO IS A VERY FUNNY AND PERSONABLE HOST! We got to the tasting and we were treated to the reserve wines and OMG!!! Such a wonderful experience for the palate! I highly recommend this winery for a visit! One of the best in the Lujan de Cato area!,,,,
Lou S — Google review
Tasty wine and an impressive facility in the Mendoza area. A little intimidation at first with its military-like facade, but they are the friendliest of people when you get inside! The winery itself is massive, but the processing plant is smaller than it appears even though they produce their own wine from start to finish. Highly suggest paying a visit on your vacation, but as a heads up - there is no food served so make it your first or last winery of the day.
Karol G — Google review
Marcelo and Lucia were just AMAZING! What a great time they gave us! Truly a MUST if you are in this area! They will show you how to have a great great time.
Bobby I — Google review
Came to Finca Sophenia with my family and we absolutely loved it! Our tour was led by Lucia and she was a fantastic tour guide. She was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and made the tour an exceptional experience. The wines are also beautiful and high quality. Highly recommend this winery to any visitors in Mendoza !!
Elena C — Google review
The place feels a little like a fortress when you arrive compared to some other wineries and you certainly need to book, but once you are in the grounds we had a brilliant time on a private tour and tasting! The staff were wonderful and we really enjoyed all the wines that were on offer. We also learnt some really interesting information about the winery and area and enjoyed touring the actual working winery. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area!

Bodega Andeluna is a winery located in the heart of the Uco Valley, offering a range of experiences for visitors. Guests can participate in cooking classes, meal pairings, and tastings while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding peaks. The Blend Game allows visitors to create their own wine, while 'Tardecitas' offers a delicious menu and pairing experience. The location provides an immersive experience with its picturesque vineyards and the Andes in the background.
We had an amazing tour with Antonella - she was soo knowledgable and helpful. The wine was amazing too! We definitely recommend this beautiful winery.
Kelsey M — Google review
One of the most picturesque locations in the valley- we loved the architecture and ambiance of this winery. The tour was robotic and we are not sure if that had to do with the language barrier or not. We were inside most of the time and missing the stunning natural scenery! The wine cellar is very neat, however, didn’t need to spend much time there. Wines were our least favorite of what we tried- quite a diverse selection, however, mostly dry and mineral flavors. Not our preference. Location, scenery and ambiance- 5 stars! Tour and wines- 4 stars.
Gina R — Google review
The location and ambiance for the sunset tasting were beautiful. However, the tasting menu and service left much to be desired. The sunset tasting comes with a bottle of wine but we received little explanation of the food or wine itself. For the price of the 3 hour tasting, we expected more engaged service to pair with the meal. Neighboring vineyards charge the same for substantially more of a meal and experience.
Emilee O — Google review
We stopped here for a wine tasting with the Wine Bus Vitivinícola. At $42 per person, it’s on the pricey side. While the wines were good, we were surprised to discover that the tasting of four wines featured selections from their lower range, priced at around $10–$20 per bottle. It was not worth it—the wines were nice, but they definitely didn’t justify the crazy price. That said, the building and the surroundings are simply stunning and out guide was lovely.
Jenny P — Google review
We stopped here for a wine tasting. For 40$ p.P. it's quite pricey, but it was totally worth it! We had around 5-6 different wines and all of them were really good. What kinda stuck me, you even can taste the premium line of wine, which we often could not do at other vineyards. Combined with some bread and great olive oil, this was a really good experience and Tour! The Building and the surroundings are stunning and you don't need to stay there overnight to have a good view over the vineyard and the Andes. 100% recommended! Would love to come back again, maybe next time staying overnight for a stunning sunset.

We stopped in at Andeluna to buy some wine during our viait in Mendoza. It's a beauiful winery in a magical surrounding. Leticia was our hostess and she did an amazing job descibing the various wine offerings and telling us abut the vineyard. The wines we tasted and purchased were excellent! Thank you Leticia.

Domaine Bousquet is a winery founded by the Bousquet family, who brought their four generations of winemaking tradition from Carcassonne, southern France to Mendoza in the 1990s. Situated in Gualtallary, Tupungato, at an elevation of 1,200 meters above sea level, the winery benefits from the unique soil and climate of the region.
This bodega and the restaurant is a must visit in the area. Probably my favorite winery. They have taken organic wine to the next level, the level of dedication and straight up science that goes into making this wine makes it extremely sophisticated but the whole ambiance remains friendly and fresh. Because of the low amount of sulfates in the wine you can drink large amounts without feeling sick or hungover. We did the 5 course lunch with wine pairing and I must say the chef blew my mind. All the ingredients are from the vineyards garden and farm including the olive oil. If you are running short on time I would definitely recommend the restaurant as a must try. The lodge/hotel is also super cute if you can stay the night, rooms have everything you need with a view of the Andes that is to die for. The staff is so sweet and caring and provided a great service every step of the way. This is actually one of the first vineyards in the area and the story of the family that owns it is remarkable. Prices are pretty good for the service and the level of the experience. Do not pass up on the chance to visit, you will not regret it.

Highly recommend visiting when in the Uco Valley. Outstanding organic wines paired beautifully with the divine 5 course lunch. Chef is most talented! The winery tour and team working there are amazing especially Mariella and Julia who are super knowledgeable and welcoming! Delicious experience- thank you.

Great wine-pairing meal. The Cab Sav was amazing. The chef stopped by everyone's table to get honest feedback. The steak was perfect. We started outside, but when the weather turned, they had plenty of room inside with a view for all the guests. The tour at the end certainly showed the pride they have in their product.

We visited for the 3 course lunch and had an incredible time! The staff are so friendly and helpful. The three course meal was incredible, my husband says it’s his favourite dish he’s had in Argentina so far! Our lunch started with a red blend wine which was our favourite, and the chef’s tapas which included a cheese spread, empanadas and soup. All three were incredible and there was lots of fresh bread. We chose the filet mignon for our main course which came topped with chimichurri and a side of vegetables of different textures and a cauliflower purée. The wine that was paired with the main course was a cabarnet franc. Our desert was a selection of dulces and cheeses that paired perfectly with the rose brut. The views were incredible and we were lucky to be visited by Gaia the restaurant cat! A wonderful experience and very reasonably priced. Don’t miss out on this one!

It’s so enchanting to see a vineyard actually producing biodynamic wines. This is not a review of the restaurant, but rather of the vineyard and a vineyard tour and the tasting. We went to this vineyard as part of a full day tour, and we were very happy that the guide picked it, as it was wonderful to go to an organic vineyard. They take it seriously! I’ve had a tiny bit of education on biodynamic, and from what I understand, Bousquet is really making it happen! And the wines were wonderful. I know this is going to sound awful, but some of the organic wines that I can find back in the states really leave me flat. And I honestly mean flat, in that it feels like there’s no finish to them. They just sort of stop in your mouth. By contrast, these were full and rich and interesting and varied. From the rosé to the reds, we really enjoyed the offerings. The tour was great as well. I love all of the other fruit and veg they are growing, assuming for the restaurant. It was interesting to learn the history of the vineyard as well. Our guide was excellent. Then we retreated to the tasting room, which was small, but beautifully decorated, especially the ceiling! I think the only part that dragged for me was the video. The video felt like it was very much praising the owners and winemakers, and it went on for too long. It felt a little self- important. But the rest of the tour and our guide were wonderful. And the tasting includes some small bits of cheeses and other bites, such as nuts, which was refreshing change of pace from some of the other vineyards. However, the amount of wine that was poured in the tastings was a little bit less than the other vineyards we had been to that day. There was one wine in particular that I just wanted to try a little bit more of and would have liked to have had a bit more wine in each pour. I only wish it had been a sunny day so we could really see the entire view, but, this was still an enchanting part of our experience. We definitely took home a few bottles!
Lockie H — Google review
Visiting Domaine Bousquet was a truly memorable experience. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Andes, the winery exudes a sense of harmony with nature. Their organic wines, especially the Malbec, are exceptional—bold yet beautifully balanced, with a clear reflection of the terroir. The warmth of the staff made the experience even more special, and the food pairings at their restaurant elevated the wines to another level. Knowing their commitment to sustainability made every sip feel even more meaningful. It’s a place I’d return to in a heartbeat.
Tomaž — Google review
Great experience love what they are doing to help sustain the environment. I had my doubts on the organic wine experience but I was pleasantly surprised they are doing a great job crafting organic wine. Valentino was our guide today and was an excellent host! Definitely Recommend.
David F — Google review
This place was recommended by our hotel concierge, and it is truly a hidden diamond in the area. Outside of Mendoza city center, roughly an hour drive you will find yourself driving down a picturesque landscape grapevines as far as the eyes can see. Once we reached the parking lot, we headed to the second floor restaurant. Staff there are welcoming and they let us either pick an indoor or outdoor seating. The scenery can’t be missed so we elected to enjoy our lunch outdoors. The sun deck had a canopy to provide shade but it did not disrupt the views. The sun deck had a wonderful and cute staff, a tiger kitty, purring at eat table for a snack. For lunch we are given a choice or a 4 or 7 course pairing of wine for each course. We selected a 4 course and left they nicely buzzed and full to the brim. Honestly, one of the best meals I had in Argentina and it really didn’t hurt the wallet all that much. At the end of the meal, we headed our to the wine shop in the neighboring building and bought a few bottles we had for pairing. Please note you have to make a reservation or the security will not let you through the gates. This restaurant takes card.

If you're on the hunt for an unforgettable experience in Mendoza, look no further than Bodega Margot. This charming winery not only boasts some of the best pizza you'll find during your travels in Argentina, but it also features a whimsical design that adds to its allure. The owner, Giovanna, is a treasure trove of knowledge about wine production and warmly invites guests to explore her vineyard.
Giovanna generously opened the doors to her home and life at the bodega! The bodega technically wasn’t open yet for tours, but she was kind enough to give an impromptu tasting and tell us stories about the place. Beautiful, peaceful, and homey. Highly recommend for great wine and experiencing a true Argentine welcome. Thank you, Giovanna!

Well, if I could give 6 stars I would. I had the best pizza here in my whole experience in Argentina (4 weeks across different areas exploring gastronomy, including Buenos Aires). On top of that, the art and design of the bodega itself is whimsical and the owner Giovanna is so insightful regarding the wine production process. Lastly, the bottles of wine I purchased for them were amazing and a great hit among my friends! Can’t recommend enough. She even invited me personally to an asado that was great!

Would highly recommend visiting this boutique wine haven and their wine was delicious we took two bottles away with us. Forever grateful ❤️

If you like unique, small wineries, this is a good one. The winery is beautiful and filled with art pieces. It is a serene setting and the owner (and chef), Orlando was very welcoming. He gave us a great tour including light bites. The wines were great too. In addition to sparklers, Orlando poured us a delicious Cabernet Franc! I highly recommend this winery!

Bodega Jean Bousquet is an outstanding organic vineyard located in the Uco Valley. Visitors have praised the warm and professional service, as well as the delicious wine tastings and picada plates offered at great prices. The setting is described as breathtaking, with the option to sit outside under beautiful parrala vines. Guests highly recommend this intimate vineyard for its accommodating nature and complete tours filled with enthusiasm, passion, and knowledge about their fantastic wines.
Excellent organic bodega in the Uco Valley. We dropped in around 3:30pm with 3 children and no reservation, and were immediately greeted and looked after (in Mendoza!!) by a friendly and professional waiter. Delicious wine degustacion with a great picada plate, great prices and apparently the helados were a winner too. Breathtaking setting - only wish we had gone there for lunch as well. You can sit outside under the parrala vines, which is truly beautiful.

Organisation inside the restaurant is chaotic. It takes time to get served. Looks like they have not enough staff. Nevertheless the food is good for what you pay and wines are cheap. Be careful if you come by car, police is doing regularly alcohol check-ups in the area.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. What a horrible place, worst experience in Argentina. We ordered 5 course menu with a bottle of "their best wine". The wine was like cherry juice, in a bad way..... Then they served food, empanadas were good but all the other dishes, it was unimaginably bad. We ordered our filet mignon medium rare en got this dark grey totally overcooked tough piece of meat. We told the waiter that we orderd it medium rare and this isn't what we ordered. They said that this is how you make steak and we should eat it.... We didn't even got our dessert because we didn't eat our mains. We told them that we didn't like the service and that we wanted to leave, so we had to pay for a 5 course lunch and only had 2 starters. HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE! Please, go to another of the beautiful bodegas nearby in the area. This is just a big joke!!

Not worth the price ! 27.5 USD per person for a really short visit and tasting. In short, there is no passion. If you are passionate about wine, definitely to avoid, there are much better place to visit in Mendoza area. If you want to taste, better to buy some bottles, it will save you some time and money.

A Short Master class in this wine tasting experience! Muchas gracias Graciella!

Highly recommend this intimate vineyard! We arrived later in the day and they were very accommodating, even staying late in order to give us a complete tour. The tour was the best we had while in Mendoza. So much enthusiasm, passion, knowledge, it felt intimate and of course the wine is fantastic. We only wish we’d had more time for lunch as well.

Great value, food, service and wine. 4 course meal including 3 bottles of wine for only 390 peso. Food and wine was amazing, and ridiculously cheap! Excellent attention from the waiters, eat outside or under the grapevines. Overall 5/5 experience, would come back again.

Came back after a year. The quality of their wines really do not live up to the price they ask now, 850 pesos for a Cabernet Franc. Their Malbec was the worst of the bottles we bought, much better wines for cheaper in supermarkets. Their setting and restaurant validades the second star.

What a gem! Arrived here after driving down from Mendoza City to the Uco Valley. Don’t be deceived by the bumpy access road, this restaurant is a gem! When you arrive, you are greeted by the friendliest service. The terrace is magical. Gorgeous views of the Andes, expanse of beautiful vineyard and the charming water feature in the garden. It really is magical. Our waiter was friendly, explained the menu and brought us into the cellar to pick a bottle of wine. It is so reasonably priced here. Food was fabulous. Lunch here was a highlight of our entire trip to Argentina.

Fantastic experience. From the scenery, to the food, to the wine, to the accommodation, but especially the staff 🙌🏼🙏🏼🙌🏼

Review for the restaurant, wine shop, and service. We came without reservation and were able to enjoy a delicious lunch. Our server Alvero was very patient with our limited Spanish and helped us not only figure out the menu but choose a fantastic bottle of wine. The chef did an outstanding job with the menu, offering a wide variety of choices for the mains. I had the steak with Malbec reduction and it was cooked perfectly. The dessert plate was extraordinary. The extra touches made the meal very memorable. The setting is very beautiful with a water feature and cooling trellis. Highly recommend. Note: don’t be turned away by the bumpy road. It’s a a short trip to a wonderful meal.

I've been for lunch twice now. The owner is a very cool gentleman who knows a ton about wine and takes great pride in providing a relaxing experience with stunning mountain and vineyard views and charming rustic decor. The food and wine are exquisite, and the resident cats, Hansel and Gretel, have delightful personalities.

Great hotel on a small vineyard. The apartments are very spacious and decorated very beautifully - simple but chic. The staff are very accommodating, kind and friendly people as well! I will recommend this spot to stay and dine for any of my friends visiting the Mendoza area. A great escape from the city and near many good vineyards and restaurants. Amazing views of the snow capped Andes, even in the summer!

Enough cannot be said about this establishment. It is a beautiful property with excellent accommodation and warm individuals at the helm; a true fairytale or storybook scene. What makes the winery truly special is the staff and owner. They are friendly, eager to help and engage with customers and provide a top-notch experience. Please do your self a favor and book a stay here, take in the serenity and be prepared to be treated like family. The wine is phenomenal as well! My wife and I will definitely return.
