National park
Wye Valley National Landscape is a vast conservation area that spans across England and Wales, offering picturesque rolling hills, woodlands, and a meandering river perfect for various outdoor activities like walking, cycling, and canoeing. The region boasts two iconic landmarks - Tintern Abbey and Chepstow Castle - as well as popular footpaths such as The Offas Dyke and The Wye Valley Walk.
A really fabulous place to visit, we have had lovely hikes here as well as canoeing on the Wye. There are a number of pubs you can get food and drink at and there are super views of the surrounding countryside. You can get across the river by bridge or ferry, depending on where you want to cross.

What an area of outstanding natural beauty, with beautiful landscapes, nice villages/towns and numerous attractions, its a great place for a holiday or mini break. the river wye cuts its way through some amazing scenery. it slso has alot of intresting history. really worth a visit.
Mark M — Google review
Lovely views all around. I love me some good bridges so I tried to find a good viewpoint. I hope to go back again and get more photos. Went up hiking to get those viewss (At Coppett Hill). If you want to hike up Coppett Hill, I recommend you drive up to Highview and find a place to pull over and park. Its in the middle of nowhere so its pretty easy to find a place to just pull over and park because hey... its not illegal if theres no double yellows. The two bridges in these photos are Kerne Bridge (1st photo) and Huntsham Bridge (4th photo).
Connor R — Google review
A beautiful area and landscape for hiking – there are picnic spots, seating areas, toilets, as well as coffee and food available for purchase.
Andrea — Google review
It was an incredible ride to Tintern, we enjoyed each turning around the corner with it beauty and mountainous landscape reminds my home country. We will be hunting and discover more and more in upcoming days
Rabin S — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking. As soon as we reached the viewpoint to take in the scenery, we heard a peregrine call out across the valley. I am so grateful that places of such extraordinary natural beauty are protected.

The Wye is the prettiest River out there. She winds her way through gorgeous countryside. Stunning scenery all the way. My idea of heaven 😍

Mailscot Wood

Woods
Mailscot Wood offers a less crowded alternative to the popular Symonds Yat Rock, providing stunning views of the River Wye and Symonds Yat. The trail is moderately challenging, featuring a descent and climb near Biblins Bridge. It starts at Symonds Yat Rock car park and follows the pink signs of Mailscot Wood Trail. This route is suitable for all ages and allows for easy shortening if needed.
Beautiful woods following the River Wye . Great for cycling ,dogs and people of all ages . It follows the old Symonds Yat train line to Monmouth. If you love a good hike this is the one for you. Its fairly flat and level with parking at symonds yat. But be warned be back before 5pm or you will get clamped with a hefty fine of £250 to get released.

Symonds Yat Alternative Viewpoint, located near the villages of Symonds Yat East and West in Herefordshire, offers a fantastic opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts. The area is perfect for countryside walks, kayaking, and other adventure activities. Visitors can also enjoy refreshments at the viewpoint's cafe or bring their own food to enjoy at the picnic benches. While the climb may be steep, the stunning views make it well worth the effort.
Stunning well worth a visit. Cafe and picnic area on site between the 2 viewing points. Plus steps down to the river Wyre. Not for those unsteady on there feet. Parking avalible pay points dotted around. Historical site. Toilets on site.

A small hike to the this beauty. Not strenuous, not crowded. The view is incredible as you can see. We did spend time at the summit and then headed down to the cafe for a cuppa.. ☕️ a lovely day ..!
Mol D — Google review
Great views over Symonds Yat. It is managed by Forestry England with a big car park (payable by app or machine), a cafe, toilets and walking trails. The viewpoint is accessible via a tarmac path then boardwalk. We saw peregrine falcons and cormorants from the viewpoint and there are interesting information boards. There is a second viewpoint on rough ground through a wooded area.
Jade F — Google review
Admire the picturesque views of the River Wye and surrounding area from this internationally famous viewpoint. Treat yourself to tea and cake from Symonds Yat Rock Cafe, a log cabin-style building which was originally built in 1956 in readiness for the Queen’s visit the following year. Symonds Yat Rock is home to an Iron Age hillfort built around 2500 years ago. The area is now a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The remains of the ramparts can still be seen in the form of a series of banks and ditches. More recently, Yat Rock and the Wye Valley are known as the birthplace of British tourism. They have been used as a travel destination since the 18th century after they were popularised by the Reverend William Gilpin, the pioneer of the ‘Picturesque’ movement.

Cycled here from our campsite at Parkend. Wonderful route through the forest. This view is a great reward for the cycle. It seems so much better when you get to a place like this under youe own steam without the parking faff.
Tony E — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous and serene. I decided to do the Christchurch trail from the car park up to the holiday cottages, mostly flat with some gentle slopes and 1 big slope. The only downside on this trail was it ran parallel to the road, and you can clearly hear the traffic going pass most of the time. Yats Rock main viewpoint is next to the cafe, about a 2 min walk on a wooden bridge. Carpark was massive, plenty of spaces although there are no marked bays and you'll park on unpaved areas. It's card payment only or pay by app on RingGo. Disable carpark is closer to the cafe, has its own entrance from the road. Toilets are next to the parking machines. For the cafe, you'll need to walk a little uphill from the car park towards Yat Point. Plenty of seating benches dotted around. Definitely recommend, it's accessible and family friendly.
Sadz — Google review
Lovely views. Very close to the car park and an easy walk! A lot more challenging walking trails down to the river.
Alison N — Google review
Such a nice viewpoint. The hike from the car park up is quite steep maybe takes under 30 minutes. At the top they have a nice large space to rest and cafe too.

If you're looking for a delightful way to explore the stunning Wye Valley, look no further than Kingfisher Cruises in Symonds Yat. This charming boat tour offers a relaxing 45-minute journey along the River Wye, perfect for groups and individuals alike. As you glide through the serene waters, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including picturesque churches and lush forests.
A really enjoyable cruise in the sun, and came away a little more knowledgeable! If you get there early and sit outside on the boat, it's a good place to see some fishies. I wondered if it was salmon as spoken about on the cruise!
Laura W — Google review
We boarded and waited only 5 minutes for enough people to get under way. Tickets can be bought at the IceCream kiosk or on the boat if ypu have cash. As it was a saturday lunchtime the river was teeming with canoes. Over 100 during our 40+ minute trip. There was also plenty birdlife around and my son saw at least 1 fish leap out. The boat is very steady and the skipper gives plenty local info about the sights you will see. There are no refreshments on board so bring your own. The views are great, the ride is smooth and its a beautiful place to be.
In V — Google review
Came to stay in symonds yat to enjoy a cruise on the wye after watching an episode of tales from the riverbank. But difficult to review as we didn't get to go on the cruise as the water level was too high. Not their fault, the wye was also alot browner than expected. Didn't see a kingfisher but heard and spotted a peregrine falcon!
Chris W — Google review
Nice relaxing trip, didn’t go very far but we appreciate that it couldn’t go further than it did due to the formation of the river. still made for a nice 40 minute activity, narration was interesting but didn’t go on too long, leaving you with moments to appreciate the surroundings. Allow dogs on and have a few drinks available to buy onboard. Could have a slightly more consistent timetable maybe
Anna — Google review
The trip gives you a lovely view of the waterfront up stream as far as the rapids, including the church accessed by boat, the commentary is full of information about the river its fishing records and about the building and wildlife. Explains why Nelson ordered the planting of the oak forest. The Swiss cottage and the railway. It's a pity you cannot book, so get there early if you want one of the few seats outside in the rear. You can pay by card despite what it says on the website.

Pleasant boat trip. Staff were helpful. We saw many different water birds. The guide told us lots of interesting facts.

Very informative cruise on the river can highly recommend nice sitting outside but quite a bit of engine noise you can get a cup of tea on board brought to your seat

The Saracens Head Inn is a charming B&B located by the river, offering comfortable rooms with picturesque water views. Guests can enjoy a delicious hot breakfast and locally sourced dining options. The inn provides an ideal base for exploring the natural beauty of Symonds Yat, including opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding along the River Wye.
Situated overlooking the river Rye with lovely views from the bar terrace. Access is via a single bridge and winding road, on which we encountered some deer on our journey back to the hotel on our first evening. We were warmly welcomed by all the staff, from reception, to bar and restaurant staff and cleaners. The (standard twin) room was compact but modern and simply decorated to high quality. Bathroom was nicely decorated with spacious shower and much appreciated fluffy towels. Everything was spotlessly clean. I mean really really clean! Good quality bedding and no noise from adjoining rooms helped make for a good nights sleep. Breakfast staff were great, prompt and friendly service. Breakfast was delicious; especially the bacon and poached eggs. Highly recommend the hotel and food. Many guests said they would definitely be returning.

I stayed here with my girlfriends for birthday celebrations and we had such a lovely time. We ate dinner on the Friday and Saturday in the restaurant and the food was delicious especially the burgers. Breakfast was delicious, I had scrambled egg and smoked salmon both days. The rooms were lovely. I think my only criticism was how hot my room was. We had to sleep with the patio doors open 😬 The staff were lovely and very accomodating. Perfect location 👌
Lynne S — Google review
Great location to spend a few days. Very busy in high season, but the staff was amazing and looked after us. Generous freshly cooked breakfast. Our room looked over the river. Noisy because of the many day-trip tourists but all quiet around 21.30 h. The river and its surroundings are beautiful. Many nice places to visit. Or just walk around the neighbourhood. It was our second time visiting Symonds Yat. We might go there again.
Wendi P — Google review
Just drove here for a pint. Location great BUT be warned you have to pay £5 to park for anything up to 4 hours, customers included!!! Husband went in to check that signage was right and say we just wanted one quick drink. He was told car park still had to be paid, even though it clearly wasn’t busy. It was a fair and narrow drive, out of our way, so think it’s worth warning others if you’re considering a pm pint. Now other side of river in Ye Old Ferry Inn, far more welcoming and lots of free parking, quite rightly, for customers - go there!

Excellent pub food. We called in after visiting Symonds Yat Rock, and were impressed with the quality of food and service. Only a small menu, but changes everyday, and had a few vegetarian options to choose from. The vegetarian mushroom burger was one of the best we'd ever tasted, and the chips were excellent.
Matthew W — Google review
We dropped in for dinner after a canoe trip down The Wye. The setting is beautiful and a great spot for a drink. However, £22 for a very average burger and chips is ridiculous. Being a bank holiday Sunday we didn't really have much of an option but to suck it up and pay the price. Had the prices been more reasonable we probably would have stuck around and had dessert and possibly a few more drinks. There was also a £5 charge for the car park, as you can only pay for the whole day, not necessarily the fault of the pub. In the end we ate and left, not feeling like we'd had good value for money.
James H — Google review
Not our first visit, such a great location right on the river. Had a lovely river walk and then stopped here for lunch just managing to grab the last outside table. Sadly the food wasn’t very good on this occasion although it came very quickly. I had the smashed burger but it was overcooked and also not very smashed. The Missus had the squid which was very greasy. Our friends had chicken and bacon sandwiches which looked a safer option. Will still come back if walking along the Wye just for the lovely ambience and views
Robert C — Google review
came in for dinner, we booked in advance (as we had our dog with us and that was advised on the website) and came in right around 6 when they started serving food at 6. food came really quick and was all really delicious, amazing quality and clearly super fresh. Also ordered some ice cream/pudding which, again, was lovely. A couple things to note: was quite expensive as pubs go, and not all the serving sizes were very generous. + there was a sign directing you to a bar to order food at, but we had a couple of confused waiters come to us and ask if we’d ordered, please pick one! order at table or at bar.

Symonds Yat Caravan Park

Campground
Symonds Yat Caravan Park is a picturesque camping spot where campers can enjoy a clean and well-maintained environment. The staff, particularly Alan, are friendly and accommodating, ensuring that groups are situated close to each other for convenience. The gravel pitches with electric hookups offer a quiet retreat, while the superb shower block and additional facilities enhance the camping experience. Nearby amenities such as pubs and canoe hire make it an ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts.
I stayed at this campsite with a large group celebrating a friends 30th birthday. We first met Alan at the entrance who had a great sense of humour and directed us to the rest of our group where he had made sure that we all had a spot near each other. You’ll find Alan visiting the field regularly (on his golf cart) where he interacts with the campers, checks the facilities and is easily approachable if you have any queries or questions. The showers, toilets and other facilities are clean and well looked after. This was my first outing in my camper van and it was a very enjoyable one. As a group we are looking to book again for the end of this month.

Both static seasonal caravans, privately owned. With camping, tourer and motorhome site with some hook-ups. Some hard standing. Fantastic shower w.c. building. Small child play area. Many pubs, cafe and dining restaurant are located both local and a walk down the river with the fun of using the hand ferry. The site warden is one of the best....

2 night with touring Caravan and awning. Lovely clean site, toilets and dish washing area excellent. Close to all other amenities. Only negative is that there are no bins anywhere on the whole camping area You have to carry your rubbish all the way back to the Reception area and Recycling is hit and miss.

Stayed here for a night camping last week, lovely peaceful site. The toilet and shower facilities are absolutely immaculate. Friendly and helpful staff, short walk to pubs on the river wye. Look forward to staying again in the future would highly recommend.

We've been staying at this caravan park for years now. Whilst it was sterrets and since it's change of ownership and move to Symonds yat caravan park. In the two years since the change we have noticed a decline. It's incredibly difficult to get hold of the site to make a booking. They rarely answer emails, are difficult to reach on the phone and no longer seem to have an online presence. This year when we arrived we found that only 1 shower and two toilets were available for use in the women's bathroom and that there was no toilet roll in either cubicle which only got replaced the following day after a request was made to reception. In fairness to reception they did upon request open the other two showers thankfully. Unfortunately on Saturday which was our final night we had a terrible experience with what appeared to be one of the sited touring caravans. The adults seemed to vanish completely and left 4 young children in a small tent unsupervised. These 4 children proceeded to scream and swear until 4 am when they finally went quiet. This was after they had woken up 4 different groups of campers (including waking a toddler) and also disturbing campers in the neighbouring campsite. These young girls were labeling campers who asked them to be quiet as peadophiles and were swearing violently at the tent next to them when asked to be quiet. Campsite wardens were unable to be reached and in the end due to there being a lack of adult supervision the police had to be phoned. During this time the children also trashed the toilet block and blocked a toilet all whist unsupervised. This morning an adult finally appeared and instead of apologizing called us Muppets and said we should expect that behaviour because it's a campsite. She also said they weren't her children and that they were having a sleep over. Just incase you have the misfortune to end up on a site with these entitled neglectful adults. They came in a sign written van for LJH roofing specialists ltd. Photo included below from the adult who was either ignoring the darlings or too wasted to look after them being proud of their absolutely terrible behaviour. Unfortunately when you have adult role models like this the children don't really stand a chance. If you see a work van with that name on a site pack up and leave immediately. They also allowed their two large dogs to run loose and use the entire camping field as their personal toilet without even bothering to clean up after them.
Non82 — Google review
Went for a family day out, they had an inflatable park, which was £10 for a wristband, and you could use it all day, kids loved it, amusements, cafe, restaurant, and a gin bar, and lots of walks. They had boat cruise's going on, and you can hire boats and paddle boards, great day out.
Rebecca G — Google review
My darling, one simply must experience Symonds Yat Holiday Park. This is not a common "campsite"; it is a retreat for the discerning, a five-star wilderness adventure for those of us who appreciate the subtle charms of rustic living. Upon arrival, one is greeted not by a bellhop, but by the symphony of nature itself—a chorus of birdsong and the gentle murmur of fellow patrons, who have all clearly arrived in their Range Rovers. The accommodations, a collection of static caravans and what they charmingly call "lodges," are a triumph of compact living. Each one is a meticulously curated space, where the entire family can experience the profound intimacy of a walk-in closet. The "amenities" are, of course, the real draw. The river, a free-flowing water feature, is a stunning backdrop for one's morning coffee. And for the more adventurous, there's a thrilling opportunity to test your nerve by navigating a muddy path to the communal bins. It's a true test of one's footwear, and I must say, my Hunters have never felt more at home. The nearby attractions, which one must endure on foot, offer a truly authentic experience of the natural world. One can observe the locals, who seem to have a deep affinity for fluorescent anoraks, and participate in the quaint tradition of queueing for a simple ice cream. It's a place where you can truly escape the hustle and bustle of city life—and by "escape," I mean you'll be so busy trying to find a working Wi-Fi signal that you'll forget about all your worries. It's simply divine.

Goodrich Castle, located in Herefordshire, is a well-preserved medieval fortress offering magnificent views over the England-Wales border. It warmly welcomes visitors and their four-legged friends to explore the castle and its grounds, including the tearoom where water bowls and biscuits are provided for pets.
What an excellent place! The castle is really impressive with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. We climbed to the top tower, languished in the dungeon and walked round the entire moat. The surrounding area is beautiful (the views from the top tower were breathtaking) and the whole site is very well kept. We had a coffee in the cafe at the end, which was very welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed out visit, great value for money.
Julie C — Google review
Had a free day pass for two adults courtesy of the Daily Express. The Castle is set back above the village of Goodrich, surrounded by green fields. Plenty of parking which is charged at £4 for the whole day. Disabled parking is nearer entrance on the level. But if not able to walk from the entrance the disabled can drive their vehicles closer to the Castle. With each entry you get a voice recorder which describes sections of the Castle at certain points. The Castle is very well maintained considering the age. Good views of the surrounding area all around the Castle. Worth a visit, there is also a cafe and gift shop at the entrance.

I used to go as a kid roughly 20 years ago and I found it is still fun to go even today! The area is well protected and preserved. Local cafe anf gift shop with easy access toilets. The castle is stunning! The people were friendly and were ready to help even when we forgot our batteries, they honestly went above and beyond! 5/5 stars in all areas!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Visited recently during a weekday, a nice walk up from the car park with beautiful countryside views. Impressive castle remains overlooking the river. You can pick up an audio guide at the shop / entry point if required. Lots of history as this Norman castle was stormed during the English civil war.

Superb - really great visit to the castle today - loads more to see and explore than we thought! Nice little cafe and gift shop, plenty of parking. Do have yo pay to park and enter prices are typical for English heritage site (pricey) but the site is well worth a visit.
Jenny G — Google review
Definitely a good place to visit, especially if you are history nut or have children interested in medieval knights and damsels in distress. From a military power perspective it's certainly impressive and understandable in the landscape. My only grump is that £62 for 4 adults plus parking is pretty steep now. Add in a cafe stop and that's a big day out for most people.

As EH members, we were looking somewhere to visit whilst on holiday and dog friendly. Found Goodrich Castle great place to visit, some great history and some well preserved ruins. Stopped at the cafe for lunch as well, which was excellent and good value. Well worth a visit.

Amazing place, but if you plan on joining English Heritage to get the free entry do it before you go as the setup takes a long time. Apart from that the castle itself is impressive and interesting, beautiful area to get some amazing photos.

The setup is impressive, offering great value for an entertaining day out. Whether you're navigating the maze or playing a round of crazy golf, it's sure to be a lovely and memorable experience that's worth revisiting when in the area.
We had a great round of mini golf with some friends while on holiday. A very enjoyable course, everything was in good condition, and the price was very reasonable. We went to the on-site cafe afterwards, which had a nice selection of drinks, cakes, and ice creams. Overall, recommended. 👍

Just don’t go! Parking Eye scam in operation. Pay and display machine was out of order on the day we visited. Went to the reception desk and told them. They said not to worry as it was just to stop people who use the car park without using the facilities. We bought tickets to the crazy golf and played. Ever since that day we have been hounded by Parking Eye (the parking bloodhounds for the venue) for an unpaid ticket. We have sent them evidence (photos of the out of order machine along with proof of payment for tickets to the venue) more times than I can count. They just ignore it and keep hounding you. It is becoming quite distressing. I really wish we had never visited.

DIsability unfriendly, disappointing and ridiculous. Tried to visit with my daughter who has severe learning difficulties only to be told I would have to pay to accompany her around the course. His reasoning was that it would be unsafe for me to enter with her (but by charging me this somehow solved that problem, which I don't understand). The fact that she wouldn't be able to understand the rules on her own, that she wouldn't be able to understand turn taking, that she may unintentionally hurt someone with the club/ball, interrupt other peoples games, and ultimately get very distressed as she needs to be accompanied by an adult at all times. So beware of this if you intend to go with anyone who has a disability.

Do not go Scam Park A few years ago I received a parking fine, even though i paid for parking. Since then I have had almost daily bullying phone calls off a debt collection agency. They are now threatening court action against me, this needs to be sorted, and it is something you are quite obviously complicit with, or fobbing people off with a 'blind eye'. Whichever it is, I will be contacting the national press to find out why, after hundreds of customers have contacted them, they continue to allow this robbery to take place. Any denial on there part at this point is only made laughable by looking at trip advisor reviews about parking fines for this attraction. It is obvious that they would not be so idle and unhelpful, if they weren't making money out of THEIR customers mysery.

Experience on two occasions fairly awful sad to say. Mini-golf itself was OK, but poor and petty customer service. Plus you pay over the odds for parking.

Great little mini golf course wash to get around for all ages and disability 👌 Would definitely do it again if in the area again 😍🙈

Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo, located in Symonds Yat, is a popular indoor attraction where visitors can experience the tropical environment and get up close to exotic butterflies. The zoo houses over thirty species of butterflies from around the world and offers a unique opportunity for both kids and adults to witness the butterfly's life cycle, from eggs to caterpillars to chrysalis. Visitors can enjoy watching live butterflies flying overhead while learning about their survival strategies.
Lovely family friendly venue. The zoo was full of butterflies, loads to see and very active. Very reasonably priced and entry available all day with one purchase. Staff were friendly and attentive. Lots of other facilities at the same site with crazy golf and a nice little cafe.

We completed the butterfly zoo and crazy golf in the space of roughly 1 hrs but this was when it was super quiet when children were in school. It is great you can come and go as you please throughout the day. However, when paying to park that doesn't mean you want to hang around for long. Clean toilets in car park with lots of benches to have a picnic on. Space for coaches and campervans in car park. If you have time the crazy golf is a lot of fun.

Fantastic little quaint butterfly zoo. Reasonably priced including a round of mini golf if you wish. A great idea was that you can come and go throughout the day as many times as you like. The venues is only small which was perfect for our 6 year old. Some stunning butterfly species inside.

It was just a lovely experience. Never done anything like it and certainly would again. The place isn’t huge so anymore than about 50-60 people and it would be a bit of a squash. Reasonably priced and a nice touch supplying a magnifying lens and cards with details on each butterfly. Nice facilities available for food and drink. There is a crazy golf course but we didn’t use that. The one big thing to be careful of is the parking! They want you to pay when you LEAVE so make sure you do read the small signs that are there so you understand the process. I could see why a lot of people finish in the attraction and then simply leave incurring a nasty fine afterwards!!

The butterfly zoo is great! We spent 45 minutes exploring the Butterfly Zoo. There are plenty of butterflies to see with interesting information about them. Friendly staff and really good value. We got an ice cream from Izzy's Ice Cream café. There was an interesting choice of flavours, we had Turkish Delight and Rhubarb & Custard, both were great.

The Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo is a beautiful, peaceful place to visit. The indoor tropical hothouse is teeming with a stunning variety of free-flying butterflies, and it’s truly wonderful to see them up close, even landing on you if you're lucky. The path through the enclosure is easy to navigate, and it's fascinating to learn about the butterfly lifecycle. On a practical note, the facilities at the Wye Valley Visitor Centre complex are well-catered for. There are clean and accessible toilets, including baby-changing facilities, conveniently located near the car park. While there's no major restaurant, a cafe and ice cream parlour are available, offering snacks and drinks. There are also plenty of indoor and outdoor picnic areas if you prefer to bring your own food.

Lovely place to stop off and visit the wonderful variety of butterflies. Great staff, friendly with a smile and there's a hedge maze, crazy golf and cafe here too. A brilliant place to take the little one if you're looking to kill a few hours.
Shiv K — Google review
Lovely place to see butterflies (obvs lol) You are given laminated info sheets and a magnifying glass to use whilst there. £6.75 for adults for the butterflies. I think you can buy a combined ticket if you wish to visit the maze. There's a crazy golf course too. There is parking and a cafe (not associated with the butterfly zoo) Reading the reviews beforehand, a lot of people had trouble with parking fines. You can pay at the machine or download the parking app. When you come out from seeing the butterflies, there's a gift shop.

Wye Canoes Ltd offers a delightful experience for those seeking adventure on the River Wye. Whether you're paddling from Kerne Bridge to Symonds Yat, taking in the wildlife and historical landmarks, or opting for a more exhilarating yoga session on a paddleboard, there's something for everyone. Visitors have praised the company for its friendly and helpful staff, as well as the good condition of their equipment.
We did the 3 day trip from Hereford to Symonds Yat. Stuart and the team were incredibly helpful and accommodating. We arrived by public transport and Stuart dropped off our canoe the night before we started to help accommodate this. We had the best time. Instructions and advice were clear and easy to follow. Great advice about the best campsites and lunch spots. The price was incredibly reasonable for all the support and equipment we were given. Wye Canoes gave us all the information and then let us get on our way but we always knew where to get help if we were to need it. I would love to do another trip with Wye Canoes. Great people. Great equipment and their knowledge and support was invaluable! Special shout out to Leo who went well out of his way to help us get back to Hereford in time for our train when the public transport was limited due to bank holiday weekend! Couldn’t have asked for a better trip! We’ve definitely caught the canoeing bug!

Stuart couldn’t have been more accommodating! He managed to fit us in at short notice for a half-day trip with our dog, which we really appreciated. The booking process was super easy, and communication ahead of our visit was excellent. The price was great—about £15 cheaper than other places offering the same trip in Symonds Yat East. The whole experience felt very relaxed and friendly. Unlike other companies that are strict about return times, Stuart simply encouraged us to enjoy ourselves and take our time, which really took the pressure off. (That said, we were still back in plenty of time!) All in all, a fantastic experience. We’ll definitely be booking again on our next trip. Thanks so much!

Had some unavoidable issues at the start, caused by external events and Wye Canoes were so understanding and accommodating. Staff are super friendly and know the river well. Safety is on point and instructions are clear, you'll be safe if you pay attention and listen. The equipment is great. I went with my 10 year old son and we had a blast he started off worried about the canoe rocking by the time we finished he was standing up gondola style. Absolutely brilliant day out. Water quality on the Wye is not ideal however.

Great people. They allow bookings on the day if there is availability. I tried other companies but they did not have the on the day booking option. The half a day canoeing (£70) was amazing. Very good service and instructions. My 6 years old enjoyed it very much. We stopped along the shore a few times where it was allowed. These breaks made the journey. Safety equipment, barrel to keep your staff dry, helmet for kids were provided. When you book you get an email about what to expect, what to wear and bring. First, after getting the kit, they took as to the point where we had to get ashore. Then they drove everyone up to the starting point. And let the journey began.

We hired two canoes for a family paddleabout and the dog joined in too. You get everything you need and even get dry barrels to store your things in. The Wye Canoe team couldn't be more helpful. They got us on the water quickly and made the experience fun and relaxed. Really reasonable prices, and would love to come back to do a longer trip.

Fantastic day out! Great staff friendly and helpful. Lots of local knowledge too, guide you the right direction! Great way to experience the river wye, will be back again! Parking easy, 1st machine coins, furthest car park had hard reader.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our half day trip in a Canadian canoe. The whole experience felt very relaxed. The briefing was enough to make us feel safe without being boring or wasting loads of time. The instructions were clear, the views were great and I was excited to see a kingfisher. We'd like to do it again.

I recently celebrated my birthday with a canoeing trip from Ross-on-Wye Canoe Hire, a thoughtful gift from my family, and it exceeded all expectations. The staff's warm and welcoming demeanor immediately put us at ease. They provided comprehensive safety instructions, covering everything from paddling techniques to river hazards, which made us feel both secure and confident. The instructions provided to finish the site were excellent, so we arrived in good time, were kitted out and taken to the launch site very quickly. The friendly guys chatted to us on the way, gave us some paddling guidance and talked us through our route, places to stop, what to look our for at the landing site and what to do when we got there, as well as an indication of how long it could take. We had a great day on the river, the instructions were very useful and we got to the landing site a little early, but they came straight out to pick us up. The whole experience was fantastic, it was very relaxing and lovely to see all the birds at their level

These guys are very friendly and welcoming. They give a very detailed briefing on how to go canoeing, no doubts left. If you enjoy rowing, I recommend them 100%.

A great place to rent a canoe and paddle downstream for a few hours. Easy to get to and with plenty of parking, the team here make everything so easy. They load you up with everything you need and then drive you up river before the safety briefing and getting you in the water. The distance (7 miles?) is easy to cover in the time given (4 hours) so it allows for some downtime on the banks of the river. We were even given a route to a lovely ‘refreshment house’ this time round. Top rated.

Opted for the full-day for 3 people so we could take our time. Lovely sunny day to start with and a perfect way to see this beautiful part of England. Started to rain as we got closer to the end point and totally missed it! Went thru some rapids and managed not to capsize but realised we’d gone too far. Had to get out and walk a bit to get a phone signal but Mark and Phil were only too happy to come and rescue us even tho that probably impacted their end of day. Can’t recommend enough even with all the aches and pains I’ve collected as souvenirs 🤣 A+++

We canoed from Hoarwithy to Symond's Yat with this company and found them to be great. Canoes were in really good order, and we were provided with a barrel for our dry belongings. They also kindly carried out canoe to and from the water's edge so no heavy carrying which was nice. They were very upfront and honest with us and suggested we stopped in Symond's Yat rather than Monmouth because of the heat, as we had booked. Very professional company overall.

Fun, friendly, good kit and canoes. It is what it says on the tin - canoe hire on the River Wye. A brilliant day out with the family, so much fun. I highly recommend it and would happily rent from this company again.
