This is a must visit in the UK. So peaceful and calm. There is ample space to park your car. You will have to have a look at the photos for you to get a glimpse of what you will experience, if you happen to plan a trip. A small play area designed for toddlers and also a range of farm animals, your toddler will be excited to see these. Some outdoor play facilities have been arranged as well.

Dropping a star because the booking info wasn't clear.. Given two booking times, 10am and 2pm.. it's not explained until after you've booked that it's "any time from 10am..." Plus.. it is a little pricey when you can access other parts of the forest for free.. BUT... It is like stepping into another world. The forest is magical. Even with other people there, it was quiet and beautiful. Lots of places to sit and enjoy nature. Steps are a little slippery so wear good shoes. There's also some farm animals to look at and an indoor and outdoor play area. Gift shop shuts at 5pm though the actual place shuts at 6pm.. something to keep in mind if you're saving your gift purchases until the end.

We spent a wonderful morning in this enchanting, magical forest. We wandered through there for about 3 hours, trying to make sure we didn't miss any of it, and back tracking to see views from different directions. We were lucky to go on a day with some sunshine, the sun light light hitting the mossy trees and lighting them up was just beautiful. Good facilities too, and friendly staff.

Our visit to Puzzlewood was an absolute delight, perfectly timed for a crisp, sunny day. While the sun was shining brightly in the clear blue sky, the moment we stepped under the dense canopy of ancient trees, a cool and refreshing atmosphere enveloped us. This was a welcome relief, making the walk an absolute pleasure without the oppressive heat. The gnarled trees, moss-covered rocks, and twisting pathways created a truly magical, otherworldly feel. It's easy to see why it has served as a filming location for so many fantasy productions. The air was fresh, and the dappled light filtering through the leaves created stunning photo opportunities at every turn. It felt like stepping into a fairytale. We spent a wonderful couple of hours getting lost among the roots and crevices. A genuinely enchanting experience. Outstanding area worth visiting, gift shop, toilets, food, drinks available and a picnic area.

Please be aware , wear proper shoes, non slip and waterproof. A lot of mud, slippery, very slippery, and around 300+ stairs up and down, made out of wood and solid rocks. Beautiful views and there is a picnic area as well, enough for 100+people You can buy tickets on the spot. Just £9.90 The walk, depending of how you're moving around, it's about 2 hours, so you can enjoy the views. You can stay as long as you want, there are benches all over the place, made it off wood of course. Enjoy😊

The most stunning place. Very picturesque everywhere you look. But very slippery when it's raining. Make sure of good footwear.

Gorgeous forest! I did feel let down that you have to pay to enter such a beautiful natural spot and of course I would have loved it to be bigger and to have gotten lost for considerably longer than we did. But even at the smaller scale that it is it really is quite stunning.

Nice caves but not much geological structures to see. The main attraction of the cave was actually the art trail inside it with a few sculptures to be found and learn more about them. Free parking available on site. Facilities were ok with a cafe and toilets available.

Interesting experience and nice to do on a hot day as the caves are 10c. The sculptures are pleasant but I found the mines and history more engaging. The cafe is nice and had a good selection of drinks and cakes including a few Gluten free cakes.

Brilliant caves and even more special with the sculpture exhibition that’s on this summer. Visited in summer holidays on a wet morning, with two children (ages 8 and 9). We all enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend! It was quite busy, but we hadn’t booked in advance and were allowed in straight away. Free parking, there’s also a cafe on site but we didn’t visit it ourselves.

Always visit the caves whenever we are in the area. Enjoyed the sculpture exhibition - a unique art gallery underground! However, I do feel that this took a lot away from the actual caves/mines and there seemed to be less info about them than I remember previously so I wonder if plaques had been removed or hidden for the exhibition. Still an enjoyable visit.

We enjoy a decent visit to some caves and Clearwell Caves was no exception. The caves themselves are brilliant. A good bit of history to check out at the start of the tour. They also have some exhibitions in the caves which were really good. This was better than I expected

I went to see the sculpture exhibition. Whoever had the idea of getting all those beautiful pieces together was a genius as I would not have visited otherwise. There are over 70 peices large and small all beautifully lit. I really enjoyed the opportunity of going into the caverns and even without the sculptures this would have been a fascinating experience. Staff are friendly and the cafe is excellent serving sandwiches and cakes in a lovely setting inside and out.

This was the most unique art gallery I have ever been in. I would say it’s a must see, even children 5 and up on my opinion would enjoy it. Most of my explorations were done on my own with no other visitors. It is a little dark with the exhibitions spot lit. If you are claustrophobic you might have a hard time. It took me about 2 hours to explore, you should also wear good shoes here. I enjoyed the museum that talked about ochre and ore mining, and likes that many of the sculptures were metal. I really enjoyed the exhibition and would definitely go again. There is a cafe, and games as well as toilets. There is an outside sitting area with a semi adventure playground. I loved it, but I also loved that here the staff say #sconeAsingone. Nice to meet you Jonathan and Sue!

We arrived just as a storm had broken, the smells and sounds were incredible, barely anyone around until later on in the walk, signposted well so you can easily make your way around - we did the sculpture trail, didn’t have a map for it but that kind of make it exciting when we saw something we weren’t expecting to see.

A definite must if you’re in the area! There’s a few different trails around here but I did the sculpture trail which I would highly recommend. Took me about 2 1/2 hours and it’s really interesting to see all of the art work, whilst combining it with a fab ‘forest bathing’ walk. Plenty of parking (can pay by cash or ringo app), toilets, water fountain, picnic tables, and a cafe (unfortunately this was closed when I visited!)

It's a BRILLIANT place for everyone of any age and abilities. There is a great café that serves food and snacks, coffees and a good range of tea, soft drinks etc. Staff are lovely and very helpful. Good loos and usually very clean. The trails, tracks are extensive and are accessible to very nearly everyone. It has a sculpture trail, which is updated regularly and has GO APE, for those with a head for heights. Plenty of parking and is a pay and display, machines are situated in a few key points. Do go and enjoy our forest, I'm sure you will love it! Sorry, nearly forgot. It's very dog friendly too!

Massive forest! With many walks to do! He also had a goape! For all ages from 4 years - it has a gruffalo trail and a sculpture trail. Has a visitor centre with food and drinks and clean toliets, then a park and loads of picnic benches! The is plenty of spaces fo park your car!

Love this place. Good for the kids, the dogs…can’t go wrong. Food prices are…well…high. Icecreams, sandwiches, cake&biscuits, crisps, hot drinks, soft drinks, and chips (or atleast they did). But bring a picnic and what could be better? Alternatively, during certain times they have various food venders selling pizzas, drinks… Drinking water station for dogs attached to the main building (roughly behind the toilet area by the archway). Parking is payable in the archway (bear that in mind when parking as you could be in for a walk before you even begin).

Lovely place to walk, nice long loop. We were very excited to see a wild boar, even though it ran away as soon as it saw us!

I went to RSPB Nagshead to experience an RSPB site to see if they are managed and well looked after and I was impressed with this location. It was clean and tidy and the Bird Hides are also very well looked after. Free Parking at the location for Members and Non Members. I done the long trail then finished off by going to the bird hides. Wonderful broadleaf forrest. The terrain is mostly flat and easily accessible. Lovely range of fungi, suggesting excellent habitat

Within minutes we saw a boar and it's piglets, a male boar and then deer. We were blown away. Hopefully everyone else will ve as luck as we were.

Had a great walk along the 'long trail'- our highlight seeing several sightings of wild boar, including piglets, and a deer. Lots of birdlife.Lovely tranquil spot.

A lovely place to walk, very peaceful. However, we were following the Long path, which at some point just left us with no direction. It took over an hour to relocate the centre and car park.

Beautiful gardens, dog friendly. Only open during April, May,June. Weds, sat and sun. Super friendly gate keepers, stunning house and gardens and recommended visit. Roman temples also, quite a hill climb for those who may not be able. Areas for picnics also.

An absolutely stunning garden teeming with the most beautiful azaleas and rhododendrons. Paradise on earth on a sunny day. Well worth the entry fee. Picnics are welcome and the toilets were clean. Lots of parking. Not great for the less mobile due to steep undulating paths.

A hidden gem! We visited when the rhododendrons were in bloom, such an amazing variety and wonderful colours. Dogs are welcome on leads, and the paths are good. The lakes and small waterfalls were very pretty, and the water lillies were starting to bloom. It is a lovely place to walk, take a picnic, and listen to the birds.

Beautiful take a picnic and sit and wonder the gardens. We've been here many years probably 30 years plus always lovely when you go at the right time. Only porter toilets but always clean.

A really interesting place to visit, excellent roman temple baths and temple with fantastic information boards, beautiful gardens and a great museum.

So glad we made the effort to find this garden. The post code can be misleading because you can finish a 12 minute walk away. However, the garden is a must for anyone who loves Rhododendrons and meandering streams. We love the different levels, showing off the beautiful vistas. A must visit place!

We booked three family rooms via Booking.com and confirmed directly. When we arrived we were informed that there were only two rooms available, as the accommodation was overbooked. The staff tried their best to accommodate us. The food was good.

My partner, myself and our 2 dogs have just spent 3 fabulous nights at Millingbrook lodge and without doubt this is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in recent years. The rooms are spacious and maintained to a very high standard. The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming and the pub is well stocked, with a lovely menu and a great range of beers and wines. We cannot recommend this place enough - whether as a stop-over , or for exploring the beautiful surrounding forest and countryside.

We have eaten there, once for breakfast and the second time for an evening meal. Both were quickly served being excellent and plentiful. It should be noted that this premises is under new ownership as of August 2025 but I am impressed with the wide range of beers and ciders together with a good range of real ales. This has now become my local.

Unexpected guests meant we were looking for a late afternoon Sunday lunch….. and The George did not disappoint, carvery until 5.30pm, the food was awesome, plentiful, with the service being second to none especially ‘Stu’ the young lad who was having his first taster of waiting tables, and managing customers expectations, a few more sessions and he’ll have them eating out of his hands. I have to say we will definitely be back.

Its a lovely friendly place, but old and therefore very noisy. You can hear every door open, the traffic whizzing passed outside and noisy room neighbours. The food is great if you are meat eater. Forget salads or healthy options, even at breakfast. They did go out of their way to buy me a child's petit filou yoghurt when I asked for something other than cooked breakfast. But I did have to supply my own banana as there was no other options. This is under new management , so hopefully they will take on the feedback and adjust their menus!

Popped in here for the wife's birthday. We had booked in advance but when we arrived they could find our booking, they where very apologetic and found us a table. Food was great the calamari was amazing. Glad we went. Overall a great experience, only let down by the booking mistake.

Stopped in on the off chance of a Sunday dinner. Great service, very welcoming. Food was amazing for a good price. Atmosphere was great, football on the TV but not to rowdy. Deffinalty visiting again.

We are from Cardiff and staying near by, we happen to find this pub, glad we did. Greeted at the door, the food was amazing, especially the pizza, my partner really enjoyed it, he wanted more. Overall we had a lovely time with great food and great service. We would definitely come back if we lived closer.

Had a great experience at The Woodman! I ordered the Big Stuff Pizza and it was absolutely delicious – generous toppings, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. Definitely one of the best pub pizzas I’ve had in a while. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the barman was lovely – friendly, attentive, and made the whole visit even better. Great service really makes a difference, and he nailed it. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and craving good pizza and a relaxed pub vibe!

After not booking soon enough at another local.. got booked in here instead, sadly the food was very 2nd par, if your happy with it fried burger and micro convenience meal this is your place…. Shame as the feel when you enter was very accommodating , nice staff but didn’t seem much care for quality from owner 😔

The Woodman Inn is a nice pub with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly and attentive, and there’s a good selection of drinks to choose from. The food was satisfactory - nothing fancy, but decent pub fare. A pleasant spot for a relaxed drink or meal.

Stopped in for a drink, very friendly staff. Lovely pint. Large pub garden to the rear, and marquee are to the front with a pond. Plenty of benches to enjoy the great weather. Dog friendly. Recommend a visit.

What a lucky find this was for us having taken a wrong path in the forest! We arrived at opening time, midday, and were ready for a rest. We enjoyed a couple of pints from the wide choice on offer and ordered 2 baguettes. They came quickly and were absolutely delicious, fresh tasty rolls and well filled. We found everyone to be very friendly and they certainly welcomed our dog Lola with a smile. We would recommend.

I recently visited this pub with a friend, and it was a fantastic experience. We ordered a mixed meat roast and fish and chips, and both meals were absolutely delicious with generous portions. The quality of the food was top-notch, and it all came at a very reasonable price—just £40 for two meals and two drinks. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with friendly staff making us feel welcome. It’s also dog-friendly, which is a big plus! Overall, a great spot for good food and a cosy vibe. Highly recommend, and I’ll definitely be returning!

Visited this pub with my boyfriend after being highly recommended it by our BnB host. Definitely not a friendly atmosphere from staff when we entered - clearly trying to ignore us. Food was nothing special. Boyfriend ordered a starter as well as a main and they brought both the dishes at the same time. The table across the room from us (with a different waiter) seemed to be getting a much better experience - perhaps we just got unlucky with ours!

Another pub landlady recommended this place for a visit and found the rising sun a warm, friendly, and welcoming. Highly recommend, home made food and specials including allergy advice. There isfree parking, ease navigation 🧭 to get too, animal and wheelchair accessible.thank you 🥰 for hospitality

A great pub to celebrate in after the Forest of Dean half marathon! Bags of character, pool table, live band, large beer garden and playground for the kids. And tucked away in a quiet and beautiful the corner of the Forest. Keep up the good work guys. Any negatives? A couple of the Yorkshire puddings were overdone, but after running 13 miles, they didnt really touch the sides :-)

LUSH!!! We came on the 21/8/25, a wonderful local lady recommended, been on our hols, we thought why not? Well what a absolute gem. We are a family of four with two growing lads, Well the food..the food is just....LUSH, better then lush, the gravy on its own should be a meal on its own, its dark, rich and so flavoursome its just lush. We had mains, drinks and pudding, it was very reasonable priced. Atmosphere was amazing, we played pool afterwards. The staff are 10/10. The pub itself is stunning, the outside for kiddies, is amazing, beer garden is beautiful and its pet friendly. Honestly the best food I've had in a long time, in fact the best pub I've been too in a long time. Pleased I was here on holiday, if I lived closer id be broke, fat but very very happy.

Driven past the place numerous times and finally got a chance to stop and cure my curiosity! Well, what a gem of a place. Everyone is super friendly, knowledgeable in all the gift shops. Cafe is great, plenty of deliciousness on the menu. We be back again for the various events throughout the year. Not that we will need an excuse to come back.. highly recommended.

Found this lovely craft centre whilst visiting lydney over the weekend in June 2025. There was a lovely tap room with a good selection of ales and ciders and spirits. There were wide and varied choices of shops selling anything from scented candles, shower steamers and bohemian clothing to a large garden centre selling plants and gardening must haves. Found some books about foraging and herbs, tarot cards and ethereal wonders, jewellery, arts and many other interesting and novel purchasing opportunities. Lovely place to visit, good prices. Would recommend

Came for a car boot sale that we saw advertised locally when visiting, only for it to not be on the day we went! Mooched around the shops but too far out of our price range. Toddler enjoyed the park. Free parking.

Our 2nd visit that did not disappoint! Had a lovely lunch - freshly made & so tasty! Loved wandering around the shops in the autumnal sunshine & feeling the values of this amazing community! A great way to to spend a Sunday afternoon! We will be back! x

A few small shops, a garden centre and a popular cafe. Definitely worth a visit although there is not as much there as you might at first think. Looks like events are hosted here sometimes. Free parking and entry.

Such a lovely little find. Lots of artisan shops - not astronomically priced. Little play area for children. Cafe area and shop selling food stuff (I've forgotten it's name).

Only 4 stars because a lot of the shops were closed as the owners were taking a well earned holiday. Shops that were open were really good and had unique goods for sale

What a great place, krazy golf, pool, skittles, ping pong, pool, footall table, air hockey, scuttle board, badminton, large chess, large draughts, football pool, and golf pool, coffees ice cream, and more. So much to do and with great staff. All set in a wonderful wood that just goes on and on. Do not miss this, it is great. Great for all ages from grandparents, parents new loves and children.

What a great gem of a place. Warm friendly welcome by the (owners?) Made my family and I feel like we were their own family coming to visit them! The place was really well decorated, clean and clearly loved by them. The crazy Golf holes were really tidy and well maintained - so often these places can look a bit tired - not here. Everything bright and pristine. Great value too - not only do you get the "golf" but there's loads of fun games such as Giant chess, Giant connect four, Air hockey, Futsal, skittles, Golf pool all included for free. All set within really lovely maintained gardens and trees with plenty of benches and rest areas including picnic areas. Our two "kids" were back from Uni for a few days so this was something we chose to do for a bit of family catch-up fun but this place made it just that bit extra special with new lovely memories created. We spent the entire day having a fantastic time at Krazy Golf. The children were free to play and truly enjoyed the safe environment. The staff made us feel incredibly welcome and were very friendly. There was plenty of space for us to have lunch, and we had a wide variety of activities to choose from, including golf, table tennis, badminton, pool, chess, and much more. The facility was clean and tidy, with accessible restrooms. Overall, we had the BEST DAY EVER! Thank you!

If only there were more places like this around! Couldn't recommend this more as a must visit place with family and friends. Really good crazy golf course with fun obstacles, unlike other courses where all the budget goes on decorations leaving dull holes, this course had the best of both worlds. Plenty of other activities including shuffle board, skittles, air hockey all included for the very(!) reasonable price. The owners were incredibly helpful and pleasant. A seriously 5 star place. I'd challenge anyone to have more fun for the price of entrance.

One of the best outdoor mini golf venues in the UK and we've been to a few. Doesn't feel like you're even in the UK so perfect to visit when on holiday. Lots of extra activities free of charge to keep the little ones entertained when they start to lose attention.

Had such a great day here with the family, very relaxed atmosphere and there’s lots of games on top of the Krazy golf that are included and really lovely people. Having taurus crafts, the garden center and brewery next to it and being able to come and go was perfect for us. Highly recommend and definitely will be coming again.

First time visiting today with my friend, what a beautiful place , very friendly people , staff members was lovely and I loved every minute of it. Prices are brilliant and the little tut shop was FAB too. The water was freezing but once ur in you soon adapt to it . But overall fantastic time! X

What a wonderful place! Lovely to swim in a pool that isn't too hot. Beautifully kept facilities, tea from real mugs and a family of Swallows swooping about. Wish I lived closer.

There is no structure the team working there let their friends in while there is 50 odd people outside waiting under the sun. How much would it cost to build a descent entry exit line barriers and some wristbands🤨 We waited 1.5 hours only 8 people managed to get in from the queue. If you arrive there and there is more than 10 people don’t bother waiting.

Went here with guides. Owners were very friendly and the guides has a fab time. They have a shop with a wide selection of items. Every flavour of pot noodle, ice cream, magnums, sweets and microwave chips! Also if you bring your pot noodle pot back you get 10p in sweets! The owners will blow up inflatable s for you.

I went to Bathurst outdoor lido (Lydney Gloucestershire) - what a great place - it was clean _ I went to the lane swimming that takes place before the open session of the public (public swimming between 12 noon and 5 pm) The lane swimming which is when members have exclusive access and this means you have to be able to swimming either heads up breaststroke or front crawl - pen from 10 am to 12 noon and is quieter and child free - paid £6 for a great swim It is about a 20 minute walk from the station and has plenty of parking but possibly can get busy on busy days I love all the changing rooms on the side of the pool and plenty of places to sit and relax after a swim Well worth supporting this local facility

Very cheap entry and the snacks and drinks are cheap aswell. Place was clean my family really enjoyed themselves. We drove from Bristol and it was well worth it. Only downside is the wasps but nothing can be done about that.

What a fabulous pub great staff and amazing food they looked after a like royalty. They certainly do have a good chef in the kitchen. If you get the chance to eat there don’t miss out you won’t regret it. It has off-road parking and the pub has a lovely atmosphere. Lovely and warm and friendly.

This is an easy review to write. Gorgeous, delicious food in a friendly establishment and not crazy money for a superb meal. Our group had everything from the mixed grill to steaks and a burgers and everyone was hugely impressed. Easy to recommend. It was really busy as it was steak night so making a booking may be no bad idea. However we didn’t have a booking and they managed to accommodate us.

What an amazing pub. Popped in had a Sunday roast. It was far beyond delicious. Worth every penny. Succulent meat fresh vegetables and the gravy was rich and tasty. Would we come again? DEFINATLY!!

This pub is an absolute gem! The Sunday roast (lamb) was absolutely delicious; by far one of the best roast dinners I've ever had. The portions were plentiful loads of veggies, scrummy roast potatoes, lashings of gravy (and extra) and the Cauliflower cheese was delicious. The service was fantastic; helpful, friendly and cheerful staff and with a great choice of beer! No faults at all 👌

It is a fabulous pub/restaurant. Beers are very good, and there was a great selection to choose from. Butty Bach was indeed my "little friend" for the evening. The locals are very friendly too. We had a lovely family meal due to the attentive, friendly staff and the excellent service. The food was outstanding. Such a great menu! We even went back for breakfast and some of the local apple juice. Great job guys!

Service really good, restaurant very small but cosy. Went for the large steak 16oz medium rare cooked as requested. Don’t like peas so asked to swop for coleslaw happy to accommodate.

Saturday morning, I needed a good breakfast! And this place did not fail me ! Just the way a fry up is supposed to taste, this was bang on, bang on the money too! I will be back !

We came as a family and was turned away quite abruptly wasn't made welcome at all. There was time for us to sit down and order food before the reservations but they declined us. Be cautious before coming to this cafe in a group.

Great friendly staff and great good value food

Visited Tasty Bites this morning and have absolutely no complaints. Ordered the Big Brunch and made some changes which the manager was more than happy to accommodate. The food was fantastic, hot, tasty and excellently cooked. The Big Brunch is £8 which is fantastic value considering a regular breakfast elsewhere in town can range from £9.50 to £11 and most do not include a hot drink which Tasty Bites does. I added extra Mushrooms, Extra Hash Brown and changed 2 Fried Eggs for Scrambled Eggs as well as ordering a fresh filter Coffee. The bill was £8.75 and I was absolutely stuffed. I really liked that they took off the beans and tomatoes as I requested and substituted the extras. I cannot rate the quality of the food any higher than 5 star. The food came out really quickly and was cooked perfectly and there were plenty of sauce choices offered. If you are looking for good food at a great price and excellent service I totally recommend Tasty Bites. As an added bonus they have free parking just around the corner, no more than 50 feet away.

Tasty bites is a great little place to eat. The food is nicely presented and cooked just right. The staff are always cheery, providing a fast service. Food is always hot when it's served. You'll be hard pressed to find this level of quality at the prices they are. I always eat here if I have breakfast out. 👌
