Nobska Lighthouse, also known as Nobska Point Light, is a historic 1800s lighthouse located in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. The current 42-foot iron tower was built in 1876 and offers stunning panoramic views from its lantern room, stretching from Woods Hole Harbor to Martha's Vineyard.
Such a beautiful spot! I got there before dusk and there were only a few people milling around. Though it's not open to tours you can walk the grounds. Easy to get to and there about five parking spaces. Be careful pulling out as there's a blind turn on one side.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nobska Lighthouse – A Must-See Cape Cod Gem 📍 Location & Accessibility Nobska Lighthouse is perched atop a bluff in Woods Hole, Falmouth, offering one of the most breathtaking views of Vineyard Sound and the Elizabeth Islands. It’s easily accessible by car, with a small parking area nearby. While limited, the lot turns over quickly, and roadside parking is also available. 🏞️ Scenic Views The panoramic vistas are stunning—especially at sunrise or sunset. You can see Martha’s Vineyard, the ferries passing through the Sound, and a dramatic meeting of sea and sky. It’s a photographer’s dream and a peaceful place to sit, reflect, and take in the coastal beauty of Cape Cod. 🕰️ Historical Significance Originally built in 1876, Nobska Light has rich maritime history and served as a key navigational point for sailors around the Cape. The site is well-maintained, and the Friends of Nobska Light have done an amazing job preserving its legacy. The lighthouse structure itself—white with a black lantern—is classic New England. 🧭 Guided Tours (When Available) Tours inside the lighthouse are occasionally offered by the non-profit organization managing the property. If you get a chance to go inside, the spiral staircase and the lantern room offer a deeper appreciation for the role this lighthouse played in maritime history. 📸 Great for Families & Visitors Nobska is kid-friendly and an excellent stop for families looking for a quick but meaningful activity. Whether you're touring Cape Cod or doing a day trip from Boston, it’s a worthy detour. Picnicking on the grassy knoll nearby is a simple joy. 💬 Final Thoughts Nobska Lighthouse isn’t just a beautiful photo op—it's a serene, historic landmark that captures the spirit of Cape Cod. Whether you’re a history buff, a nature lover, or just passing through, don’t miss it.

Possibly the most perfect place on earth. Go. Sit. Stare. Think. Bring a couple layers because it's breezy. Bring some art supplies. Bring a blanket. A great place for star gazing at night. (Photos from Easter 2023)

One of the most fascinating and peaceful places we have visited in recent times. The 360 degree view is enormous. Martha's Vineyard can be seen from here vividly. The Nobska Lighthouse is open only Teo days a week : Tuesday and Thursday from 10.00 AM to 1.30 PM. Tickets only available online. Parking is available for just 6 cars and parking is allowed for one hour only, no charges though. There is a bushy area just across the road where there is a lovely bench hidden and an excellent spot for photographers. Watching the sunset is a must. Roads are very narrow and extremely curvy. Please be careful.
Bharat B — Google review
Always beautiful- my favorite road! Make sure when you visit the lighthouse, you walk across the street and go to the little overlook area- if you are brave you can walk down further on the rocks to the water (just be careful of ticks and prickly bushes!)
Aly K — Google review
So beautiful. We were there on a gorgeous day. It was closed because of the government shutdown so we only saw the outside. Outstanding views!
MaryBeth L — Google review
The view is a vibe!! Our girl's trip to Martha's Vineyard was a blast and seeing amazing site and views along the way made the experience 5 star!

Cool lighthouse, couldn't go in because they are not open on the weekend. No parking and the second lot was not open. There is a memorial across the road I found interesting. The last name on the plaque is my grandmother's name. No relation but I had no idea the bench and plaque were there.

Pie in the Sky Bakery & Cafe is a charming spot located in historic Woods Hole, just a short walk from the Martha's Vineyard ferry terminal. Open 364 days a year, this cozy cafe offers a delightful array of homemade pies, croissants, cookies, and bread baked from scratch. The coffee and espresso drinks are made with freshly ground organic beans. It's the perfect place to indulge in delicious sweet treats or grab some savory bites while enjoying the coffeehouse ambiance.
04.10.2025 Cute place right near the ferry. I love the popovers here! Light and airy. I highly recommend ordering in advance especially in the summer! Parking is atrocious but this place is worth it. They have seating in and outside.

Your only real vegan option in wood’s hole. We came here while waiting for our marine biological laboratory tour to start. I got the cornbread muffin and the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. Both were quite tasty! I honestly think I may have preferred the cornbread muffin. (The cookie was good, but maybe a little too much at once? It had a squishy factor to it, and it was packed with chocolate chips, so the squish factor was compounded with maybe too many chips and it wasn’t super cohesive. Easily broke into pieces. The flavor was great though.) My husband liked them both equally.
Carrie M — Google review
After waiting 20 minutes for the bacon, egg and cheese popover, I was extremely disappointed and sad to see burnt pieces of bread/cheese. I had to leave immediately after getting my food, but I’d suggest only coming here if you extra time because of the wait.

Got a seasonal latte and a danish! Danish could have been a little sweeter. Both were good but I’d say for the prices maybe a bit better! Would visit again all in all!

This place emitted a heavenly smell that could have been fresh pies out of the oven. I wanted to go in, but it was closed, that’s all right I will try it again someday, it looks like a great place to have coffee in a sandwich. And even better right near the ferry! It looks like my kind of bakery Café. But ohhhhhh that fragrance….it was heaven. Smelled like “home”

Great place to stop before or after ferry service. Just up the block from Steamship Authority. Delicious hot or cold beverages and scrumptious pastries that look as gorgeous as they taste. Healthy serving sizes and pure bliss. Don't miss this jewel in Woods Hole.

Busy & lively! Great coffee options, delicious breakfast sandwiches and pastry options, cute ambiance & outdoor seating area. Expect a bit of a wait!

A bakery with personality. Great breakfast/ lunch spot located next to the vineyard ferry. All handmade treats are ready to go. The popovers are the best! The newly updated menu includes burgers and fries. Check out the online orders and pick them up at the front counter. The dining room does not have table service, so you seat yourself. Pre-order pies for the holiday and pick them up the morning of. Check out what is in season.

This charming establishment seamlessly blends rustic sophistication with a commitment to locally sourced ingredients, resulting in an unforgettable and delectable dining experience. Situated by the harbor, patrons can relish breathtaking waterfront views while indulging in a menu that pays homage to the sea's abundance. The tastefully renovated waterfront dining room exudes warmth and hospitality, reflecting the restaurant's mission to make guests feel cherished and at home.
I had an amazing experience at this place. The ambiance was incredible—the darkness was complemented by the overall atmosphere. The food was incredible to taste. The flavors were fresh, high-quality, and phenomenally delicious. The waitress was very polite, explaining everything we asked. I wish we came back here again.

Water Street Kitchen is a foodies paradise: so many great and subtle flavours - you cannot pick your favourite dish. A group of 4 of us went for dinner - which was great as we decided to share and really got to sample the menu. I really did love the the scallops and carpaccio the best - and the cocktails are amazing. A gem at Woods Hole that you should not miss!

Wow! It has been quite a while since we’ve been blown away by a meal like our dinner at Water Street Kitchen. Service was impeccable and everyone seemed so happy to be representing the restaurant. Each dish had different levels of flavor and the ingredients were extremely fresh. We especially loved the heirloom tomato appetizer, haddock, scallops, homemade ice ream and galette. We drove a hour to dine were and our experience made the trip worth it. Definitely check out if you get the chance.
Sarah W — Google review
The Water Street Kitchen was such a great surprise. The service was absolutely phenomenal and the atmosphere was classic Cape Cod. Our cocktails were spot on—my wife had the Naked & Famous and I had the Last Word. We shared the Black Bass to start, which was perfect for two and tasted incredible. For entrées, I had the Halibut and she had the Sea Scallops—both were outstanding and we cleaned our plates. Dessert was just as good with the espresso martini roll and homemade Cookies n’ Cream ice cream. Everything from start to finish was amazing. We’ll be back. Highly recommend!
Dan O — Google review
The food itself was decent, but absolutely not worth the price given the poor service. Initially we were excited they added a table for our four legged doggo. Sadly the hostess was the best part of Water Street. A hair was found in the Arctic char. While they did remove the dish from the bill — which we appreciate — the replacement took just as long to arrive as the original, and they left the same silverware that had been used on the contaminated plate. For the high prices, you expect at least competent service. Sadly, that was not the case. Between the long wait to clean dirty dishes, lack of attention, and hygiene concerns, this place just isn’t worth it. There are better spots nearby — go there instead.

We always reserve early each summer for our visit to the Cape. The haddock entree is back on the menu and is delicious (but $45!). The steak carpaccio was also very good. Be prepared to break the budget.

The Landfall Restaurant is a charming veteran eatery in Woods Hole, offering stunning water views and traditional seafood dishes. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere, adorned with wooden beams and nautical decor made from salvaged ship wood, provides a quintessential Cape Cod experience. Locals flock to this waterfront establishment from April to Christmas, enjoying the option to dine on the front patio or back deck while watching ferries come and go.
Stopped by Landfall while visiting Woods Hole, and wow — what a great spot. The view alone is worth the visit, but the food really delivered too. The lobster biscuit? Absolutely on point. Buttery, packed with flavor, and you could tell the lobster was fresh. It was the kind of dish you remember long after the plate is clean. The vibe inside is classic Cape Cod — nautical, cozy, and welcoming. Service was solid, and the pacing of the meal felt just right. If you’re in the area and craving some legit New England seafood, Landfall is definitely worth your time.

Waterside restaurant and bar near the ferries to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. Great stop on the bike tour, riding the shining sea trail. Had a guitar player singing on the front patio. Staff is friendly and works hard. Location is perfect and the food is good. Had lobster roll that was reasonably priced. See pics. Recommend making this a stop on your bike ride or on your way to or from the islands. Indoor seating and outdoor patio.

Great views and great food. Large portions size, excellent flavors, and great service. Cool New England vibes inside. Fun place for a lunch or dinner before taking the ferry to the Vineyard.

Absolutely amazing experience! From views to service to food, everything was a solid 10. For drinks, I tried the Mai Tai while my coworker got the Spicy Cucumber Margarita. The Mai Tai had a stronger Orange taste than expected but I liked it! For apps we got Calamari and Oysters for the table. While I don’t eat Oysters everyone else on the table loved it. For my main, I had the Vegetarian Sautée. Hands down the best one I’ve ever had. It was sautéed in white wine which enhanced the herb and butter flavors. The And, of course we had to order the Baked Stuffed Lobster. Beautiful presentation and great taste, the baked portion had breadcrumbs. A bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it in my opinion! Last, star of the show for me was the Strawberry Shortcake. It was a deconstructed cake and the strawberry purée is made in house! Absolutely delicious!

A group of 14 people went. A table reserved as prior intimation. Well received. Offered sliders. Order was taken at a time from all of us. In 10 minutes food was served.

A must visit. Friendly staff and great prices. We sat around the bar but before there were seats, the bartender came out to where we were standing to take our order. I asked my husband “what should I order?” And the bartender suggested a greyhound. They squeeze the grapefruits fresh in the middle of the bar and I was so happy with that suggestion, I had 3! We also got an order of fish bites which were $.80 each during happy hour but $2.50 normally…great deal and so so so delicious. Absolutely recommend this spot.

Had a wonderful lunch with a great water view. Loved the atmosphere and decor. Excellent lobster rolls.

The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, perfect for enjoying outdoor seating where you can soak up the local vibe.
Just what you would expect in crowded woods hole. A small(cozy) eatery with history and great food. Margarita was delicious also. I can see why they have them premixed in a vat. Would definitely return. Not cheap, but it's not a cheap town.
Martin K — Google review
If the Quicks Mex salad was better, it might be 4 stars. Salad was skimpy on the corn and beans and overall underwhelming. Tacos were good, lobster taco was good. They are quite pricey but it’s the location. Coleslaw kind of a weird side with taco, maybe corn salad would be nice. But overall we had a pleasant experience, nice staff. It was OK. Probly not coming back. ALTHOUGH would like to try margarita, could be a great marg spot. Glad it’s an option, but it’s typical cape cod mediocracy.

This summer, 2025, I’ve been loving the mahi sandwich and have been ordering it about twice a month. 😆 The flavors are awesome combination of sweet and savory and of course I always need lots of napkins. I’m totally obsessed with the sandwich and would recommend that you check out the new owners of Quicks Hole Taqueria! Yum!!!!!! My toddler is a picky eater, but I can always count on the french fries for her!

Had the best two tacos here on Saturday. I got the sweet pulled pork and the lobster tacos and both were delicious. Hefty amount of lobster meat on the taco and the pork was so tender and juicy. Good people watching spot😝

Quicks Hole Taqueria in Woods Hole is seriously hitting its stride under new ownership—and it's right across from the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard, making it the perfect stop before or after your island trip (or honestly, just because you're hungry and smart). I came back for the cod bowl (yes, again), and it’s officially my fave—fresh, perfectly seasoned, and made to order. The whole place has a chill, fun vibe. We grabbed a seat on the deck and people-watched while soaking in the summer energy. Co-owners Emilia and Chef Greg clearly care—Chef Greg even came out to check in and chat. The whole staff was warm and attentive, going above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. I’ve heard the sangria and margaritas are fire and love that they also offer some solid non-alcoholic drink options. If you haven’t been yet, go. Support a great local spot in their first season—this team is bringing something special to the Hole.
Krystin S — Google review
Really happy to see the direction this place is going and fully endorse it for the first time years! The new (and returning OG 2007/8) management has brought renewed life this establishment. As of August 2025 the food is tasty, portions are improved over past years and lines were far more reasonable than other impromptu lunch spots in town (which I also love but not enough to brave some of those lines). Give em a try even if they let you down in the past, its a bright new day for this restaurant and the new folks in charge need our support to keep it soo good.

I got the blackened mahi mahi baja bowl - it is absolutely incredible. Have had a lot of tacos in my life on the east and west coasts & in Mexico, this has to be at the top of the list as one of the best Ive had. The service was friendly and kind, felt like a place where locals are regulars, staff call you by name and ask how youre doing. Plus the place is super clean and has restrooms and local art on display.

Food was absolutely incredible! Had the mahi taco and a lobster taco. Fresh from scratch and locally sourced ingredients combined with thought and care with great food as the end result. The peach salsa was the perfect sweet compliment to the dish and the habanero salsa was a perfect amount of slow heat. Wait staff was awesome and attentive. Great vibes!

Coffee Obsession is a charming independent coffee shop located in Woods Hole, MA. The cozy ambiance and local artwork create a welcoming atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their delicious beverages. It serves as a community hub where people from various backgrounds come together for engaging conversations. The shop offers a range of espresso options, including the popular 8-ounce Mexican mocha with two shots. Additionally, it caters to families by providing housemade Italian sodas that kids love.
Espresso options review: May 27, 2023 They do have 8 ounce options, but you have to ask to work out how to get them. Simplest is probably the cappuccino. I got an 8 ounce Mexican mocha with two shots, which was tasty and nicely spiced, though interestingly, even with two shots, the espresso flavor was not strong Note: their one shot equals 1 ounce of espresso I think. That means they count espresso shots the way Starbucks does . So that means I have to say double shot to get 2 ounces of espresso. Confusingly when you want 2 shots, they charge you for a 16 ounce drink even though you get an 8 ounce drink, because they price by the espresso quantity. The cheddar rosemary scone was tasty and soft. They also had an unusual selection of flavored potato chips, one of my faves. A brand called Community Snacks with flavors such as All Mixed Up, Maui Onion, and Chili Lime Fuego.

Decent little coffee shop, perfect for a pick me up while exploring Woods Hole. Service was pretty quick but they got my order wrong (missing whipped cream) which, for as slow as it was when I visited, was a little annoying. But, both drinks were good, and it's always cool to support a local coffee shop.

WARNING: For some reason they list that they have “English Muffins” for their breakfast sandwiches. They DO NOT. When I called after opening my breakfast sandwich and seeing some sort of roll, they said “Oh yeah that’s a Portuguese muffin, we give that under English muffins.” When I asked why they do that the person on the phone acted like they couldn’t hear me anymore. Why would you sell something as an English muffin when you KNOW it’s not an English muffin? I just don’t understand why they’re lying and they KNOW they’re lying. Please just list that you have Portuguese muffins instead.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch of a Lobster Roll and Lobsta Bisque. I appreciated the nice decor and very knowledgeable waitress. The lobster roll has a generous portion of well chilled meat and a lightly toasted buttered roll and the Bisque was hot and tasty with a great flavor. I will definitely go back and try something else next time.
Robin M — Google review
For those of us trying to make a boat home, the Leeside is usually a solid choice. But this evening we ordered one of the lobster rolls and all laughed when we opened it: there was only one very small claw, a small piece of tail, and no other lobster meat in this $35 roll. We also ordered the lobster bisque ($22) and it was a small cup with three small tidbits of lobster. It was nothing like the pictures seen online and it had a strange, glutinous and gummy consistency. This was a takeout order so maybe the food is more consistent when you eat in, but had we not been running for the boat we would certainly asked the kitchen to remake our items or refund us. Really disappointing.

We had biked into town on the rail trail from N. Falmouth that led us to this pub that overlooks the ferry terminal. Nice spunky gal greeted us. “Are the margaritas any good?”, she replied “the way I make em they’re good.” We liked her immediately. They were good. Also the hot steaming mugs of quahog chowder was the best. Home-made and not from a base. Rich, creamy and buttery. So flavorful from the smoked bacon. I regret not having another. The broiled stuffed quahog was the winner. Ritz crackers w chunks of linguisa, quahog and with drawn butter completed the lunch. Another Margarita would have been nice, but we had another 10.6 miles back to the trailhead. We’ll return.

I'm a big fan of this spot. The atmosphere is welcoming and laid back. The servers and chefs are super nice folks. It's easy to tell that they genuinely care when they ask how you're doing. A beach bum like me can sit next to someone in a tailored Brioni and get the same friendly service. The downstairs bar is a fun spot to strike up a conversation. I love how blue-collar workers, academia, and other types of folks all mix together when the boat is about to depart or after it arrives. The upstairs has an incredible view of the water. The food menu is a nice combination between pub food and local favorites. The crunchy cod is a nice change of pace from the heavy batter that most places use. The craft cocktails are intricate, yet simple enough that they don't take ten minutes with a mortar and pestle to be cultivated. I'm looking forward to coming back soon to try out more cocktails and relax by the water.

Exceptional food with the friendliest of staff - Shelly & Sarah played a blinder!! Lovely welcome on arrival, and taking care at every turn of your time with them. Highly recommend an indulgence whilst awaiting the ferry, or before departing on your trip upstate. Aquarium
Nature & Parks
The Woods Hole Science Aquarium, the nation's first operating aquarium, is a must-visit for ocean enthusiasts. With over 140 species of fish and touch tanks featuring local sea life like lobsters, crabs, and starfish, it offers an immersive experience. After exploring the aquarium, visitors can enjoy waterfront dining at eateries like Landfall and The Captain Kidd. During busy summer months, parking can be challenging so taking the WHOOSH trolley from Falmouth Mall is recommended.
Super fun free aquarium. Has a reasonable selection of different fish and sea creatures on display. They even have a shallow tank where you can gently touch some sea creatures. Apparently they have a seal too but I did not see it out when I visited. Note that there is no parking and street parking can be hard to come by. But it is fairly inexpensive at $1/hr up to 3 hrs.

This place was awesome! I took my 2 year old and she absolutely loved it. They have fish that I’ve never seen before. It’s free admission and lots to look at!
Jessica F — Google review
So perfect for my almost-3-year-old twins. They really enjoyed all the fish and it was small enough to hold their attention through the whole thing. No strollers inside and parking is difficult to find since it’s all street parking but we really enjoyed the quick visit.

Nice little aquarium in the heart of Woods Hole. Took our grandchildren here and they loved it. Especially the tanks with the octopus in them. It is pretty small but they only ask for a donation rather than an admission price. Be warned, parking in Woods Hole is pretty rough and the streets are small.

Free self guided aquarium with a lot of information and a wide variety of animals. Also has a seal enclosure and behind the scenes access to learn how the aquarium runs
David L — Google review
Love this fun free aquarium. There's lots of fish to see and information to read about. There's a touch tank too! There is very little parking at the building and the surrounding area. So if you are driving you either need to plan for it or plan on biking/riding the bus.

Stony Beach, also known as MBL beach, is a hidden treasure located on Buzzards Bay at the bottom of Cape Cod. This tranquil and unassuming beach provides a perfect escape from the bustling summer crowds and offers a serene haven by the ocean. It is one of the few public beaches in the area and boasts a charming sandy shore that is ideal for swimming. With limited parking spaces, it remains a peaceful spot to appreciate breathtaking sunsets in late April or any time of year.
Stony Beach is a great place to hang out for families. There is a lifeguard on duty, and the waves a relatively small. The sand bars make it easy to wade out into Buzzards Bay. Jetties protect the little beach. My grandmother lives in a house on the beach; therefore this beach has a special place in my heart

Small but quaint beach. Early July, water was warm enough for a refreshing swim, appreciated the outdoor shower. One portable-potty. I rode part of the Shining Sea Bikeway and ended up at this little gem. Mostly sandy, some small pebbles. A little seaweed in the water, not bad. Would definitely return!!

Does it get any better than this? The views were spectacular and the buildings were beautiful and very northern. The staff was very into their work and the drinks were made nicely I just got a feel for a northern fishing town and the people were very welcoming. I sat on the deck and looked out over the water with the boats the smells and the cocktails were a perfect combination. If you are in Woods hole you must stop in and experience this great city and bar. I will be back here again

Sometimes it's hard being a chef to not be super critical. The Fisherman Player was cooked well and tasted good. I expected more for the price. Excellent tartare sauce, the Cole slaw was flat and needed some seasoning. The GFs risotto was warm and I would not call it risotto. It was starchy and needed salt

Enjoying the view from the deck overlooking the pond was a highlight—serene and picturesque. Our server struck the perfect balance of friendliness and expertise, making the experience even better. The artichoke dip and calamari were flavorful and well-executed, and the cod was cooked to perfection. We’ll definitely be back.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Captain Kidd's. The lobster roll was delicious. Best lobster roll in town!! The table shared the mussels and they were all gone immediately because they were so good. Edith gave incredible service and she made my experience fabulous. I can't wait to return.

We had a fantastic experience at Captain Kidd’s! I had the cheeseburger, and my husband ordered the fish and chips—both were delicious and cooked perfectly. We also shared a dozen oysters, which were incredibly fresh and flavorful. Edith was our server, and she was absolutely amazing—friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Everything from the food to the service was top-notch!!!

Great spot in Woods Hole. We had lobster rolls, shrimp cocktail and clam chowder. The lobster rolls and clam chowder were great. It’s nice when the lobster rolls have a lettuce wrap at the bottom of the roll to prevent it from being soggy. The price was a little ridiculous and the shrimp was very chewy. Worth going once for the views.

Nestled in the charming village of Woods Hole, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution stands as the largest independent oceanographic research facility in the United States. This esteemed institution is at the forefront of marine science, tackling critical issues such as oil spills, climate change, and underwater archaeology. Visitors can delve into this fascinating world at the Ocean Science Discovery Center, where they’ll find engaging exhibits showcasing advanced vessels and tools used by WHOI researchers.
My son thought this was the best place to visit. We loved it!

Wind is fine...as it is just wind and is air. Not sure what else other folks are talking about. However everyone over looked the fact that they are dumbing sodium hydroxide into the ocean to do some kind of alkalinity test for climate change. This can cause chemical burns to humans and kill marine life. It doesn't mater if it's just in one area it gets into everything else. Please do not do this. These chemicals are made by a company that has completely destroyed water ways with toxic waste dumbstruck. They should not be incharge of anything to do with the environment. It's all big oil making money. Chemical warefare.

We visited the WHOI on School St. we all absolutely loved it, my 3 and 5yo could have stayed in the sub for hours and loved the interactive activities in the display. Staff were patient and tolerant about two excited kids finding their way around and the exhibits were fascinating. Highly recommend.
Jenny S — Google review
As a Canadian citizen, it's unfortunate I do not have the ability to visit the WHOI at any desirable time; however, the Institution partnering with a company I enjoy very much (Cape Clasp) makes me happy to support this organization whenever I can. The Nalgene water bottles offered up by WHOI have been a welcomed and beautiful addition to the collection of conservation bottles I own. Each piece is truly an artistic piece that raises awareness just by being on my desk at work, or out on a hike. I love the glow in the dark Anglerfish bottle the most, but the Titanic Expedition and Strawberry Squid are very beautiful and durable as well. I would really like to see more from WHOI in the future. If they shipped to Canada I feel my support would reach an entirely new threshold as my values align entirely with their goals and mission in both research and conservation. This institution has taught me so much, and I am proud to be a supporter. Keep it weird!

There is zero evidence that wind energy damages whales or dolphins. In fact, wind turbines are artificial reefs that are good marine habitats. This false story is just oil company propaganda from companies that value their profits more than the survival of human beings and the ecosystem. How well do you think marine life will do in a hothouse planet? Also: go on the tour. It’s great.
Victor Y — Google review
If you are planning to work here, consider other places. The employees fight and bicker, playing mind games and overall being disrespectful to each other. People quit halfway through a journey on the ship, and they terminate people without telling them, forcing employees to learn of their termination through rumors and other employees. Those that are donating money may want to consider finding a new place to fund.
Hobby E — Google review
This place is doing great work, I'm sure, in spite of the huge complexity of coordinating among the 60-odd institutions that make use of their facilities and personnel. But it's not necessarily a good place to visit as a tourist, at least not during the summer. We signed up for the walking tour, and while the guide was patient and full of stories about the history of the local area, he knew very little about the workings of The Institute or the research that that they perform there. The really interesting ships, Alvin and Atlantis and Neil Armstrong, were all out on missions, and we weren't allowed in any of the research areas. Which is understandable.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Ocean Science Discovery Center is a captivating destination for anyone fascinated by the mysteries of the ocean. Very educational. Many interactive parts to the exhibits to help keep kids somewhat hands on. Definitely worth the trip. Parking in this area can be horrendous but the center has a few designated spots on the side street close to the entrance that were available. Spent about 2 hours here between the exhibits upstairs and downstairs. Nice little gift shop. Entry is free. Suggested donation is $5 but the experience is worth a lot more!

What totally almost amazing place The new interactive displays only worked ok. Actually it made them disappointing. None of the staff really had much of a clue what to do and how they worked. Nothing was intuitive Some were so far over peoples heads as to be useless: DNA screen for one. The stand on portion did not work at all. It's going to be great when they get it all working and have trained the staff properly Until then, don't bother going!

A wealth of information and resources can be found at the WHOI. As international borders and geographical distance separate me significantly from the Institution, I have spent my time admiring from afar. WHOI has partnered with Cape Clasp to create beautiful conversational pieces while keeping yourself hydrated, and it takes the efforts of conservation, preservation, and environmental awareness to another level. I appreciate so much about this organization, and I cannot wait to visit when I make my way toward the Eastern Seaboard - whenever that time may come. Keep it weird!

Went on two tours. Informative and good walkabout. No cost. Lucky to do the first tour from the wait list. Free. We took the free bus from Hyannis. A bit bumpy but didn't have to drive. Parking is super expensive in Woods Hole plus many cars were ticketed.

I loved my visit to the WHOI Discovery Center & Store on Saturday. I have memories of swimming nearby at night with friends in the ocean bioluminescence. The downstairs exhibit had fantastic interactive displays of twilight ocean life. And most excitingly, there was a fully interactive light up display on the wall about eDNA and ocean fish. I could touch a mystery color dot marine animal and the color DNA bars in a huge display on the wall would assemble into the DNA code for the dot I selected and name the fish. Fantastic! Upstairs I shopped and found a small box of fossil shark teeth and a card showcasing the retired submersible ALVIN, which was also an exhibit downstairs. I completely enjoyed myself and look forward to returning with family soon.

Spohr Gardens, located in Falmouth, is a charming six-acre woodland garden featuring an array of springtime flowers surrounding a picturesque pond. The property was once owned by Charles and Margaret Spohr, who envisioned creating a tranquil nature sanctuary for the community. Visitors can wander along winding paths adorned with nautical artifacts, including historic anchors collected by Charles. The gardens offer rotating seasonal blooms and stunning views of Oyster Pond.
So interesting. So relaxing. Had an hour to kill with my family and this was a great place to walk around at marvel at all the the big anchors, and millstones that they have collected here. Beautiful and interesting plants throughout the property. Highly recommend.

Do you love mill stones and anchors? This is the place for you. Spohr Gardens is free and open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The gardens hold events throughout the year, including planting daffodils and welcoming butterflies. While some people with limited mobility may enjoy the main paths and find places to sit, the grounds are not wheelchair accessible. This is the perfect place to relax after several hours of learning history.

Such a magical place to visit. Sweet history of a couple very much in love as these gardens tell their "story". I especially loved the the dock area with all the anchors lined up along the waterline. They were collected through the years from several ships and their "back story" is written down for each one. It doesn't cost anything but donations are always welcome and I'm sure much appreciated. Definitely a place I recommend to visit with the family, your significant other or even by yourself. It's a short peaceful and beautiful walk through "history"....

Woods Hole Market & General Store is a charming New England establishment located in the heart of Woods Hole Village, just a short walk from the ferry. It offers a wide range of provisions including groceries, fresh produce, deli items, gourmet pizza, and baked goods. Visitors can also enjoy made-to-order sandwiches and burritos as well as fresh lobster rolls. The store features waterfront decks where patrons can savor their meals while taking in picturesque views of Eel Pond.
Hidden Treasure in Wood's Hole!! This is a fully stocked grocery store, the only one in Woods Hole or vicinity for several miles, with a great selection of fresh veggies and produce, drinks and snacks, and sundrys. There is a full deli with pizza, fresh homemade soups, wonderful fresh hot or cold sandwiches made to order while you wait. Fresh pastries brought in daily from Hyannis. The real shocker however is the doc and deck out back! Order your hot fresh food and pick out a drink and a side and then carry it out back to eat on the lovely dock or climb the stairs and there is an absolutely gorgeous deck overlooking The lagoon with local scenery to die for! You would never know all of this was here just by driving past on the street. I rented a bicycle in Falmouth and rode the four easy miles up the rail trail which comes out right at the woods hole steamship parking lot. Super convenient! if you are staying in Falmouth and want to take the ferry to Martha's vineyard, this would be an especially scenic, enjoyable, and convenient way to do so. there would be a much cheaper fair on the boat versus taking a car because you are considered a pedestrian. You can explore Martha's vineyard on a bike or by foot and then take the ferry back. Then go downtown and enjoy this wonderful dining experience or just pick up some provisions. I had a fabulous dinner for under $20 wirh an incredible view. Do yourself a favor and eat here. You won't be sorry. Fantastic selection and super friendly staff! Then go down to Rocky Beach to take in the sunset!

Good thin crust pizza but could definitely use some olive oil so the crust is more buttery and less dry. Also way way way too many onions. This is the “chicken pie” not nearly as good as the original Main st Deli & Pizza from the 90s. But still pretty good.

I very rarely get on Cape, but whenever I do I make a point of going here. This is one of my favorite spots in all of Massachusetts. This is due to the great quality and the industriousness of the owner operators. These folks are what is still Great about America…honesty, hard work and diligence. I have had the privilege of watching Jeff build this business out with his bare hands (sweat of his brow) since they opened it back in 2011/12…and I think he’s one of the hardest workers I’ve ever met and a kind employer too. Best thing about WoHo are the locally owned businesses. Support them and tell em they are valued, is what this Veteran says!
Shackleton — Google review
The most disappointing sandwich on the cape? Superlatively crappy supermarket bread, “toasted” means the bread is toasted not the sandwich, albeit with a satisfactory amount of ham, cheese and tomato filling for the princely sum of $11.99ish. We were asked to wait then never called back, (it was not a busy day) so by the time we went in to throw out some garbage and were told “your sandwich has been here for a while” the thing was cold. Or rather the bread was cold. Because the sandwich wasn’t toasted. Ordered the sandwich because we were told without apology that there was no pizza; they’d been closed for 4 days and run out of dough. However, there was a good selection of soft drinks in the store and the staff were accommodating as my toddlers procrastinated. I’m salty about the bread.
Jenny S — Google review
Wasps everywhere. Dont eat the pastries. Also, only stop here if you have the patience of a saint because lordy the wait was heinous. People literally walking into you. All for a $16 salad that was just a basic lettuce and chicken salad. Definitely dont recommend. I do NOT have the patience for this lmao

Cooper was our waiter and he was great. On top of things and made sure we were comfortable. Food was good. Not seafood people so chicken sandwich and burgers which were great. We ate on the floating barge on the water so we had boats right up against us. Very nice. Overall worth the stop

Just happened on this walking by while looking for dinner while walking our dog. Place is dog friendly, right on the water. Phenomenal atmosphere, great service, food was perfect. Had fish and chips and the cod was perfectly cooked, fries were good, and the cole slaw was the best traditional coleslaw I've had in years (most are soggy and over mayonnaised).

Excellent service, starting with the hostesses who were so kind and inviting. Our server was amazing and the food was perfect-so unique and delicious/fresh, definitely worth the visit! We'll be back next year!! Thank you!

Was recommended that this place had the best lobster rolls. It wasn't the best I had in the area but it was better than average. Not sure of the $36 price tag but it's close to the going rate. Had another lobster roll in the area for a few dollars more and it was massive compared to here. Wife had the Avocado lobster which was two avocado halves with some lobster which wasn't worth the $30. Clam chowder was good. Got the Mac and cheese for the kid and he ate it all. Staff was nice and weather was perfect for outdoor dining in August. I'd go to the place again but would try another main dish if comparing lobster rolls.
Reginald B — Google review
We picked this place for the view. The lady at the reception desk was fabulous. It was the service and the food that was not good. We were riding our bikes from Falmouth and we were hungry and exhausted. It took an eternity for the food to show up. Probably an hour and food was so bad that we didn’t know to eat it or send it back. How do you serve a calamari and pot stickers that were fried beyond comprehension. Because we waited an hour, we decided to keep quiet and just eat. The fish sandwich was good but the fries were very mediocre. Absolutely nothing impressive about this place and they really need to work on their food if they want to stay in business. Probably the worst food I have had in Cape. Would not recommend it even for a quick bite to anyone. I would give their food more like negative 10 stars if that was an option. Check out the pictures before and you will know what I am talking about right away.

Unbelievably good seafood! I ordered the steam lobster, which comes with steamed clams and mussels and corn on the cob. All the staff was attentive and helpful with all of my needs. Pricing was also very affordable for such fantastic food… highly recommend.

Restaurant
The Glass Onion is a charming New American restaurant in Falmouth, exuding a 1920s ambiance and owned by Tally and Josh Christian. The establishment offers refined dishes such as pan-seared Long Island duck breast and butter-poached lobster with wild white shrimp. It's an ideal spot for a sophisticated fusion take on New England staples. After dining, patrons can enjoy drinks at local watering holes like the British Beer Company or catch a film at Falmouth Cinema Pub.
An absolutely wonderful experience. A vibe true to definition. They open at 5p sharp. We were welcomed and seated promptly. Our waiter was at our table in the perfect amount of time to bring water and take our drink order. The drinks fun and bright kicked off our dining experience with excitement. Moments later, some beautiful, warm bread with spreadable and well presented butter adorned our table. We ordered the Lobster Pastry appetizer. It was decadent and delicious, not to mention incredibly beautiful. We would have licked the plate if nobody was looking… ;-) Between servings, bus staff quickly and discretely cleared and replaced dirty plates and silver. We felt pampered, as if we were the most important customers in the world. Dinner came and it was everything we had hoped for. The duck, cooked medium rare, with skin, and a cherry sauce, was delicious. The fresh green beans and Yukon gold potatoes, the perfect complements. The striped bass, also, flaky, tender, and wonderful. Perched on top of arugula and a light lemony tomato dressing made the dish really pop. The recommended red and white wines paired perfectly. Then came dessert. This brownie thing from another universe. Leaning into a pool of melted chocolate, topped with whipped cream and mint, a luxurious confection that left quite the impression and is in a sugar coma. We left, mesmerized by our experience and wanting to go back. Hands down one of the best most delicious, elegant, and white glove dining experiences we have had out (and there are a lot). Highly recommended. Don’t hesitate.

The menu for the food is small, but the wine menu is much bigger. We ordered some cocktails, and 2 appetizers to share. The cocktails all had strong colors, especially the Rub-a-dub-dub, almost unhealthy color (LOL) but with an adorable little ducky on it! The server told us that we are welcome to take the ducky with us if we wanted to keep it. The flavors of the cocktails are a-ok, not the best I've had. The server told us all the specials of the night, and we ordered one of the appetizer special, which was a duck leg with noodles. It was so delicious! The meat was tender and packed with flavor, and the noodles had Asian noodle flavor which we all loved. The second appetizer was a lobster strudel, which sounded interesting. It had super crunchy phyllo exterior and moist lobster meat in the inside. Slightly heavy on the salt but otherwise, tasted really nice. For the main, we ordered Seafood Risotto, Seared Scallops, and Wester Ross Salmon. They were presented elegantly on the plate, good quality and nice flavors. Then we decided to get a couple of desserts to share. We ordered one of the special of the night, whiskey chocolate cake with whipped cream and chocolate mousse. It was rich and chocolate-y, delicious! The other dessert was Creme Brulee, a classic. It was a nice size for us to share, creamy and very tasty! The server was really nice, polite, friendly, and we were taken care of throughout the evening. A nice little restaurant with upscale atmosphere and dishes.

Hubby and I went away to the cape for our 10 year anniversary and picked this restaurant as a special night out. We arrived a little early but they seated us right away in the front glass window which was so cool. It was the old glass so when you looked out it was wavy, loved it. We shared a special salad with apples and cave aged cheddar which was delicious! Hubby ordered the sous vous Fillet and I ordered the lobster and shrimp risotto. We both loved our meals. They brought us out house made mint ice cream and to celebrate our anniversary at no charge and hubby said it was incredible! We really enjoyed our dinner here!

My family and I have dined at Glass Onion numerous times over the years. Not only is this one of the best restaurants in Cape Cod, hands down, it is also one of the best restaurants I’ve ever dined at in my life. The milieu is calm, lovely, and clean. The furnishings are beautiful and thoughtful and it’s certainly a, “fine dining vibe.” The owners are the sweetest and kindest people. They are extremely welcoming, accommodating and always ensure every guest has an incredible experience. I have never eaten anything at Glass Onion that I didn’t love. The salad is so fresh and always made with local ingredients, soups are so flavorful and all of their dishes are carefully curated and executed. We love their cocktail and wine lists too - excellent selections. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!!

A reliable go to if you feel like splurging or celebrating a special occasion. Like a well maintained dame, gleaming and well polished, the place does not show its age. As far as taste and presentation the food never disappoints. The service the night we went was efficient if a little combative. If there is one reprimand to be made it would be to train some of the staff on how to respond if one has doubts after tasting a bottle of wine. If it feels corked and one expresses doubts about it, not sure saying the restaurant has been serving that particular wine for nine years was the right response. It ended up the wine just needed to breathe but the waiter’s reply changed the mood. We always enjoy it and always feel it was worth the money which for Falmouth is on the high end.

On our 2nd night in Falmouth, we decided to treat ourselves after a full day on the Vineyard. The Glass Onion has been a local staple based on the reviews, so we decided to give this place a try. The interior is intimate and perfect for special occasions and family dinners. Warm tone colors and classic decor the place is cozy. The service was superb, friendly, and attentive, and thankfully, they were able to provide us with recommendations. For drinks we shared a bottle of savignon blanc and their crab cakes. For food they've got a great selection of seafood and seasonal dishes.

Loved this place. Nice change from the chain shops. My coffee was delicious loved my scone. Nice space to sit and sip. But the service was the star. My companion doesn’t speak coffee and the barista patiently helped him figure out what he wanted. Very patiently.

I loved the atmosphere. Cute coffee shop and a lovely extended menu. Cute gift souvenirs to buy as well. Nice comfy rooms to sip and chat. I read that the mocha latte was a favorite. I tried it although I'm a big caramel latte girl. It was nice, but I didn't get excited or rave. Sorry. We ordered ice Chai latte, that was very good Hot chocolates came out room temp, they were nice and apologized and redid them but still were not "hot chocolate ". Maybe their way of serving them, but they had good flavor.

Mocha was good! Not the best, a little lack of depth in the mocha. Coffee is as good but didn’t wow us. Atmosphere was nice but more comfy seating would be cool. People were nice

I love coming here for breakfast, their selection is amazing & super fresh. I will say, at the Falmouth location, make sure to get there pretty early because in the summer there’s a line out the door at 730AM. I highly recommend the banana choc chip muffin & their cookies.

Cute place! Great for coffee and treats on the go, or if you want to stay, there is plenty of space to sit and relax.

Quaint coffee shop with limited seating and delicious coffee. I ordered a Mochaccino with whole milk and my order was promptly finished in about 5 minutes. I recommend this place.

Coffee is excellent. Food is decent. Seating space is woefully inadequate (very few tables), and the Wifi doesn't work reliably (network available, but no internet connection, and the staff has nothing helpful to say), so enjoy your coffee, but don't expect to get any work done here.

Shopping mall
Falmouth Plaza, located on Route 28, offers a variety of familiar stores for visitors. The small plaza features a range of shops including Staples, a liquor store, Christmas tree shop, sports store, Chinese buffet restaurant, pet store, and bookstore. Despite the challenge of parking due to one-way roads and the bustling Dollar Tree store, it provides a convenient shopping experience.
Aldi's has finally arrived. Best prices around.
Aris B — Google review
Has some good stores and such here. The downside is that it's in falmouth and no one knows how to drive in falmouth. It's basically like they left their houses and forgot their brains at home while their body was like "woooo I'm goinnn skiing!". But in fact they are in their car cutting you off. It's a really good place if your worried about your blood pressure being too low because it'll be high by the time you leave.

I love this place. It's within walking distance from my place and I walk to here all the time. Although yesterday the weather was ominous.

The quality of both the types of stores and businesses here and the quality of the individual stores have gone downhill here over the years. The store branches in these locations let themselves be fun down and don't keep much stock or keep the stores as nice. Its kind of a blank space on a busy street right now

This is a small plaza that has a Staples, a liquor store, Christmas tree shop, a sports store, and all you can eat Chinese buffet, a pet store, and the bookstore. There is also a dollar tree-it’s always busy in there. Parking can be a little challenging because of the one-way roads that nobody follows. There’s a Starbucks in the parking lot. All the stores are a little on the small side for the basics it’s a pretty good place to shop.
Rachel E — Google review
I like this Starbucks - I have been going for over four years at least once or twice a week. The staff is friendly and I've only ever had an order mix-up one time - which they immediately fixed when I brought my coffee back. This Starbucks honestly just feels like home sometimes. I've found it's a little faster to order inside of Starbucks than use the drive thru; however, it's a very slight difference. This Starbucks is one of the cleaner Starbucks that I have gone to. It's obvious that the staff works very diligently.

My chicken salad was amazing, home-made and fresh. The multigrain bread was hearty too. I also had a good portion of tomato bisque soup, also terrific. The only thing I was disappointed in was my iced latte. It tasted very weak. Otherwise, 5 Stars. I still highly recommend the food!

The food is absolutely delicious and I used to go every day but eventually the value didn’t just add up to how much I paid. The customer service is also not the best and they’ve messed up my order more than a normal amount of times. Biking Trails
The Shining Sea Bikeway is a 10+ mile paved rail trail that offers a picturesque journey for bikers, rollerbladers, and joggers. Starting at the Steamship Authority Ferry Terminal and ending at Woods Hole in North Falmouth, this trail provides stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean shoreline and various landscapes such as cranberry bogs and marsh areas.
Big fan of this bike path! Very scenic, evenly leveled for the most part route. They have spray painted orange circles on large cracks throughout the trail and lots of signage throughout the trail. About 20 miles there and back from start to end. Free parking at the northern starting part. One porta potty and one water fountain. Recommend!

Super great bicycle trail, had a blast, return trip with some nooks and crannies was 23 miles. Maybe a little narrow on a busy day in some some sections where people congregate. The pathway was cool with trees, covering, through some marsh land, beach and getting down to the ferry area. Be careful near the marsh areas poison ivy so be careful if taking a rest to where you lean your bike. Was a great day and highly recommended. Suggest parking County Rd (151) fallmoth was near a little park.

Beach
Nobska Beach, located just a 15-minute walk from the main part of Woods Hole, is a narrow and unassuming beach that offers stunning views of Martha's Vineyard and the iconic Nobska Lighthouse. The refreshing waters make it an ideal spot for relaxation on a hot New England day. Visitors can enjoy the picturesque scenery of the ocean, ferries passing by, and beautiful blue water.
Such a wonderful and scenic place! Nothing but the view of the ocean, beautiful blue water, ferries going by and a view of Martha's Vinyard. With the nobska lighthouse within a few minute walk this location is a photographer's playground. With the woods hole pier just a few minutes away for all the restaurants, and the shops, as well as all the ridiculous parking prices, the beach is perfectly secluded. Keep in mind you do need a parking permit to park by the beach until 5pm.

Small beach where parking with cars is for permit holders only from 9-5. After that anybody can go. We did go around 6pm and walked to the lighthouse and walked the beach. Part of the beach is very pebbly/rocky and the other part beautiful soft sand. Very calm waters when we were there.

This is an awesome private beach right in Woods Hole. You must have a parking pass in order to park there. They also do allow for dogs before 9am and after 6pm I believe. Someone correct me if I'm off by a little bit. When we recently came up, it had some seaweed, but it wasn't bad. Catch some sun, float in the water, watch the birds dive into the water, and enjoy.

I ride with the Steamship Authority every year, for my annual trip to MV. The ships always leave on time, communication is good, and they load and unload efficiently. My only complaint would be the distance of the parking lot from the boat on the mainland. This isn’t an issue if you are taking the car over, but it can add another hour for those just spending a day on the island.

Great ferry service, even better staff behind the counters. However, the staff on the ground directing traffic is extremely rude. Both times going into the island and coming back into MA we dealt with two different individuals that were rude and obnoxious. There is a way to talk to a customer and communicate. Management needs to do a better job training their ground staff directing traffic on proper way to talk to their customers. Extremely unprofessional!

Update 2024: excited to come back this summer again and it was delicious! Last year the olives in the salad were the same castlevetrano and this year they were not which was disappointing. I was also able to switch pasta for the pomodoro dish as I get sick of only spaghetti. The rigatoni was delish! My partner was so looking forward to their basil pesto dish again but unfortunately they switched it to a sun dried tomato pesto, which was delicious and creamy, but not as good as the basil pesto. Another couple nearby also said they were disappointed the basil pesto was not available as well. Please bring back! Also, please put some gliders on the outdoor chairs as the scraping across the stone floor on the patio was so annoying; the noise is overwhelming when it’s full of people out there. Oh and the affogato dessert was delish! Definitely get that - the espresso was so yummy!! 2023: Wonderful place and atmosphere. They make their own pasta in-house! Yay. I definitely only love to eat homemade fresh pasta, if feels better in my system and this place was delish. Their pesto was yummy as well. Oh and the olives they have are my favorite olives (just a funny coincidence). The only thing was that I thought the bread and olive oil was on the cheap side. Not the best in comparison to everything else. Sadly. The Rosso di Toscana wine 🍷 was absolutely lovely! Get a glass! Sitting outside was very nice but a little warm. Wish they had some oscillating fans above to help move sit around in the summer. Our server was wonderful as well. Very lovely. Can’t wait to go again next summer.

Osteria La civetta is such a gem! I have been four times and the food is always amazing! The ambiance is romantic and quaint. We went last night on the Fourth of July and were able to sit on their patio, which is beautiful. Last night I got their ricca salad, which was delicious. I also really enjoy their homemade pasta, which I got the night before. They had a special that came with lobster meat. Their wine selection is great. They have a wine from Puglia that I really enjoy. If I get dessert, I usually order the affogato. Last night, they brought my husband and I limoncello at the end of our meal. I highly recommend dining here if you’re looking for an amazing Italian meal.

We had two couples and have always enjoyed this restaurant and wanted to show it to our guests. Our waiter was incredibly rude not only to us but her fellow workers. We felt almost ignored by her and asked another young lady to take our drink order. After she took it she gave it to the other waiter. She came back to our table and told us she was our waiter and made us reorder our drinks. She was hard to locate at times and others had to bring butter, etc.. our guests the following day couldn't believe how rude she was and I totally agree. The food that night was also off. We live year round in Falmouth and will not be back. Something has changed here and it's not for the good.

Cute little Italian place in Falmouth, we ate outside on a patio with real ivy and plants with fencing that made you feel like you were transported to Italy. It’s a small menu, but had enough to pick. The charcuterie board was fantastic. It’s homemade pasta, so it was thick, and pretty tasty. The bread was warm and delicious. I hade chicken, it was good, tender with a light cream sauce. Deserts were also good. The atmosphere was spot on, it’s pricey, so would not go all the time, but would sit at the bar and have an appetizer.

The family-friendly pub chain, 99 Restaurants, offers a variety of traditional dishes such as hamburgers, chicken wings, and salads in a relaxed atmosphere. Patrons can enjoy classic fare while surrounded by casual surroundings. One visitor had an exceptional cheeseburger and was delighted by the friendly and attractive bartender who provided excellent service. The establishment is known for its tasty steaks and refreshing salads, making it a convenient option for those seeking a freshly prepared meal instead of fast food.
We did a day trip from New Jersey to drop off my oldest at the ferry. Afterwards we were starving. Found this as the nearest place to eat. Our party of 4 were seated almost immediately, greeted by the lovely Elizabeth who is the epitome of efficiency and courteous service. This was our first time in this restaurant and we were very pleased with all the food ordered. I had fish and chips, perfect fish to batter ratio. Son had chicken fried steak and garlic mashed potatoes, said it was the best he ever had, he especially loved the biscuit the platter came with. Nice, fluffy and not at all dry. Daughter had the salmon plate and it was prepared wonderfully. Friend had the chicken wrap which was huge and came with a side of fries. We also had dessert. Kids enjoyed the skillet cookie a la mode, a chocolate chip cookie in a cast iron pan with a huge dollop of ice cream. I had the key lime pie which was the perfect blend of sweet and tart. Overall a great dining experience and we'll definitely be back if we are ever in the area.

Customer beware, especially those with allergies. If I could give no stars, I would. My family and I visited the Falmouth 99 for a birthday celebration for my late grandmother. My sister has a serious gluten allergy, but we do well with accommodations for her every where we go. Today, she tried to order a surf and turf meal. A sirloin steak with shrimp. Typically the steak would be grilled on a gluten exposed grill, and the shrimp might be baked and stuffed or as a part of a casserole (both not gf). We asked for the steak to be pan seared and for the shrimp to be just plain shrimp also pan seared. We were told they couldn’t do this. We asked to speak with the manager, Kim, and she informed us that the shrimp were already prepped for service. Understandably so, I simply asked for unprepared shrimp and was told they don’t have that ability. Odd, considering they have prepped shrimp in house, how could they not have unprepped shrimp? They must have an amazing vendor to keep them stocked with massive amounts of shrimp daily, and early enough to have ALL of that shrimp prepped for 11am start to service so that there isn’t a solitary unprepared shrimp in the whole restaurant. I then asked to forget the shrimp and just get the steak pan seared. Kim again informed me that they couldn’t do this. “Why?” Was my only question. Kim stated that they didn’t have the ability to pan sear anything. How can that be a possibility I wonder, when they have a clean sauté pan, a burning flame (the grill) and an uncooked steak? I don’t know what else they would need to pan sear a steak. Maybe it’s just uncomfortable to put the pan on the grill instead of the conventional open burner? Absolutely zero accommodations were made and a barely half-hearted/borderline heartless apology for my sister who ultimately had to order an unimpressive, lack luster salad with no protein, because according to Kim and her brigade, they simply have not one pan, flame, or raw steak or shrimp to their name.

Ever go to a relative's house but know you need to eat first? This was perfect. Got a healthy meal curbside and was set for the day. Just set the time you arrive and they will bring it right out. Salad was fresh and the chicken fajita bowl was delicious. First time I used the curbside meal drop off and they were there within 2 minutes of our arrival time. No need to take the kids out but skipped an unhealthy fast food meal.

Fine dining restaurant
C Salt Wine Bar & Grille is a vibrant restaurant and wine bar that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere for enjoying fine American cuisine. Recognized by reputable publications, this establishment brings together the charm of a Cape Cod beach town with upscale dining experiences. The menu features succulent Asian and French-influenced dishes, including options sourced from local seafood and farm-raised ingredients. With an extensive wine list, patrons can expertly pair their meals with a variety of American or International wines.
Great meal with friends at C Salt. Good selection of appetizers, were we had the calamari and pork buns. I preferred the calamari. For the main course I had the tuna and my wife had the salmon. Both were made to perfection. Deserts we're good, but not the highlight of the meal. Service was great, our waiter Craig was attentive without hovering. It is a small venue so reservations are recommended.

This is my go to for a wonderful date night or celebration. Food is incredible, service is top notch, atmosphere is great. An all around wonderful place for dinner. *2020 update. C Salt is a restaurant that continuously reinforces it's reputation as one of the TOP restaurants for fine dining on Cape Cod. For more than 5 years whenever I come, I have never been disappointed, always impressed, and left happy. Thank you!

Just had one of the best dinners! Tried the tuna tartar, lobster pasta and the half duck with bad buns. Everything was amazing and fresh. Thank you! Will come again!

Excellent restaurant. I have gone three times with my family and have never been disappointed. I have had the tuna steak twice and the steak once. I also have celiac disease and they were always able to accommodate me. They have a great wine list. Clearly they have a Sommelier working for them. I live over 2 hours away and try to make the special trip once a year. Make sure you make a reservation! If you don’t they may be able to squeeze you in when they open or close but don’t count on it!

Small, quaint and EXCELLENT. This is my second visit to this fantastic restaurant. Don’t let the small space fool you. The food is quite excellent and packs a big punch of yum! Open kitchen, friendly staff and delicious food. If you’re on the Cape definitely pay a visit to this place. I would definitely make a reservation during season because they definitely get packed. The chef is also the owner so you feel the passion in every dish that is served. I would definitely recommend as an app the calamari. I had the Tuna this trip and my husband had the ribeye and both entrees were superb! Be mindful my husband had medium rare and my tuna was rare so if you over cook these items they might not be so tasty! The espresso martini is also quite amazing that was my dessert!
Danica B — Google review
We dined at a restaurant operated by C Salt at a golf course, and we had such wonderful dinner there. From what we heard, they no longer run the restaurant operation there anymore. So, we went to dine at their original location this time. Since it is a smaller space, it can get a bit loud... The front half is occupied by a bar and high tables and stools. Then the back side is more of the main dining area with low tables and chairs. We had some cocktails, appetizers, side dish and main dishes. Cocktails were nice and strong, and very nicely made. We enjoyed their calamari appetizer, really tasty and flavorful. Truffle fries were addictive and great, we all enjoyed them. For main, we all chose some kind of fish items, and they were all delicious! The price point is a bit high, but the portion you receive is pretty good. I couldn't finish my dish, so I took about half of it home. They were high quality with good seasoning, and cooked the way we liked them. But somehow, the one little dessert we ordered to share stole the spot light. We ordered Vanilla Crème Brûlée, and it was really, REALLY good! It was so good that the ones who said “I just want ONE SMALL bite” kept coming back for more and more…until it was all gone. And it didn’t take long for it to disappear either. Needless to say, it was awesome! Our waitress, Sarah was really nice and polite, she took a good care of us. The food was very tasty and we enjoyed our dinner in the energetic yet relaxing atmosphere.

Great place to eat when in Falmouth, MA. We did some Glamping and got a recommendation for dinning at this place. Both the food and the staff are amazing! It is a bit pricey, but worth it. Definitely a must next time we visit.

Prepare yourself to be blown away by an incredible meal. The chef/owner is from The French Laundry in CA and has created a wonderful relaxed armory with exquisitely prepared food. We had the oysters and tuna tartare appetizers. Main courses were the tuna and swordfish dishes- both the BEST we’ve ever had. Mark the bartender was personable and attentive. All of the staff was friendly and had a vibe that they enjoyed working there.

Restaurant
Nestled in the serene woods of Falmouth, MA, Jacks Restaurant & Bar is a charming American bistro that promises an unforgettable dining experience. This cozy spot specializes in classic fare, including delectable pizzas and juicy steaks that cater to all tastes. The inviting ambiance makes it an ideal place for gatherings with friends or family. While it may be tucked away on Gifford Street near the popular Coonamessett wedding venue, its warm atmosphere and local charm draw visitors in.
Jacks is my favorite bar pizza on the Cape or really anywhere for that matter. Jack is a really nice guy and he’s been in the business and very successful for many years. He used to run Papa Gino’s and Paul’s (back when both were much better) and now has his own place and the pizza and food is fantastic. My favorite is bacon and pineapple, sometimes I will add jalepeno. It’s really crispy and very consistent. They also have a nice bar and live music. The staff is friendly. Great place I would highly recommend.
Brash B — Google review
Barstool pizza review on TikTok was an 8. The first bite was an 8, the last bite was a 4. The restaurant design is the worst of all worlds for subtle or sober social interactions. Alcohol-fueled, boisterous and red-faced bar-flies have the advantage of being able to scream directly into the ears of their friends while those in the dining area simply cannot bridge the acoustic chasm presented by the distance of a table. Quiet couples and groups did their best to pantomime while otherwise sitting isolated and silent. The pizza was fine. We had three and they are easy to share. The Caesar salad was served with that not quite wilted but 8 hours too long in the fridge romaine- you know the type where it almost looks just a bit pale, but as you bite into it, the lettuce gives can’t muster a crunch at the end of mastication way that says, “thank god you ate me before I died completely.” The wings were completely fine but the sauces and dressings are not all from scratch. The server was manic but his voice was so well supported by his diaphragm, we could make out his name. He flitted around the room screaming into retirees ears as they nodded in vague acknowledgement of the first coherent sentences they had heard since being seated. We all liked the food well enough. I’m not going back and a single bite just outside the door or take-out would have been enough.

The cutest little place, but not so little once you're inside. Great food everything was good, the pizza, burger, the special and the chef prepared chicken with the salmon sides just for me. Best restaurant on the USA tour so far.

We frequent Jack’s. Excellent bar-style pizza! Very good salmon & Rueben. Good specials. Never had a bad meal at Jack’s. Live music on the weekends that can make it seem very loud so not great for conversation but some of the music is very good. Jack & staff always hustling. Some of hostesses could use a little coaching. Seem a little frantic/disorganized in how they take orders, greet people, process take out etc. very good bar set-up and attentive bar tenders

After the Dave Portnoy pizza review I decided to give this place a try. It's so hard to find good pizza on the Cape! Got the pizza takeout and when I went to pick it up it wasn't ready yet despite the fact that I was there around the time I was told it would be ready by. I had to wait quite a while for it. Even though it was fresh out of the over, since I live about 20 minutes away it was cold by the time I got it home. Everyone enjoyed it though. So tonight, we decided to try Jack's again this time in the restaurant. That was a MAJOR mistake. I walked in with two hungry kids in tow to find there was a 30-40 minute wait. Not a big deal! Well, twenty minutes later it didn't seem like they'd seated anyone yet and my kids were pretty miserable. So, I ordered an app at the bar. THIRTY minutes after that, I'm still waiting for my app. So, I checked in with the bartender and the kitchen never made it. The bartender got the order going and comped the app for me which was really nice. About 15 minutes later, I had my app. Now, I've been at the restaurant for an hour and I have a free app and no table even though I was told 30-40 minutes. I saw Jack the owner and mentioned to him that I had a problem with my app and that the wait for a table was quite long and I had been given a grossly inaccurate wait estimate and all I got was repeated statements of "it's crazy tonight!" Not super helpful or comforting. Well, about 1 hour and 20 minutes after our arrival we were finally seated. Nearly triple the wait time estimate we got when we arrived and had we known it would be this long we never would have stayed. Once we sat down, the band in the bar area started playing and I could barely hear myself think. They were good and I loved the music they were playing but the volume was way too loud for a restaurant. The waitress who served us was super nice and stayed on top of things. The kitchen is an absolute mess though. Both my kids ordered burgers and asked for bacon on them. The kitchen forgot the bacon not one burger but on both. Plus, it took a good 30+ minutes for the four meals we ordered. Normally, I'd be happy to order a salad or an app first. However by the time we were seated and with all the noise from the band, I just wanted to eat and get out of dodge. The food was good and not great. The pizza was definitely better hot and was probably the best thing anyone ordered. While the waitress was great and tried to get our food to us as quickly as possible it would have been nice to have gotten an apology from Jack instead of "it's a crazy night!" several times. Most well run restaurants would also comp an entree or give some kind of discount in this situation to apologize as well and that really didn't happen either. Long story short, if you want to try out Jack's definitely get the pizza. Probably come on a weeknight when it's less busy and maybe bring walkie talkies so you can communicate with your tablemates over the music too. I almost never review a restaurant or a small business in a negative manner. However, this was such an awful experience and my kids were so miserable enduring it that I felt compelled to warn other people who might not be as patient as I am. I probably should have seen this coming as they didn't even have my simple takeout pizza order ready on time during my first visit.

We ordered pizza, and it was better than expected. We had been craving pizza, but honestly, many of the nearby places' pictures didn't look appetizing to us. Jack's was fantastic. We ordered 2 pizzas to share between the both of us. The other dishes being served around us looked great, too! It was a busy night, we were seated fast, not the most prompt service but friendly. We parked in the front but there is parking on the side, too.
Amy S — Google review
We were pressed to find a dining spot in the early evening on Saturday. Jack’s has a call ahead option, which got us a table in 15 mins ., after arriving. We shared a bowl of clam chowder as an appetizer. It was pretty good, but could have used more clams. My entree was mussels, which had a bitter taste, rather than a sweet “finish”. Not sure why?? My guest had scallops. She indicated they were very bland, lacking much flavor. The waiter was apparently new and had to consult the kitchen to address our questions.
Chris D — Google review
Some areas are too loud for conversation when it get full. But it's the best bar pie style pizza I've ever had. I prefer the plain cheese over ones with toppings, otherwise it gets too salty for my palate. In the years we've been coming here I've only managed to convince myself to try something else off the menu 4 times!

Additionally, it hosts a walking tour every Tuesday at 10 AM, allowing visitors to explore and learn about the culture and history of Woods Hole.
Small cute and has their own vibe museum. Maybe people think it must be big and more informative but I think you can find stuff what you like. Boat shop has some cool boats and there is a boat around the corner where kids can play in the actual boat. Play with buckets with sand.

This place, while interesting, is woefully out of date. Way too much verbiage and not enough items of historical interest. Diorama is interesting, but takes up too much space for what little history it relates. The Docent was nice and very chatty. Boat shop is open but no one is around for explanations. General store closed. Not really enough to see or learn about without someone to explain what you are looking at.

I enjoyed the walking tour of Woods Hole offered by the historical society. Yesterday, my mother and I attended the afternoon tour. Susan was a top notch guide. She was tremendously considerate. She began by asking us what we'd like to get out of the tour and how long we'd like to dedicate to the tour. She explained that the tour could range from 60-90 min and she'd be happy to tailor it to our time constraints. She then started out on a thoroughly researched tour, which ranged from knowledge of where the rocks in the library came from (the ice age) up till the modern features of the town, including the relationship between MBL and University of Chicago just a few years ago. The tour truly covered all range of historical eras. We found it the just right amount of detail. And, the tour moved at a great pace, not too fast, not too slow, just perfect to allow us to ask questions while continuing to learn new things ever step. Susan was so incredibly knowledgeable and kind. It's clear that she takes pride in the town and her work with the Historical Society. It was just a joy to be out walking around the beautiful village and learning so much on a lovely afternoon.

This is my absolute favorite store to stop at. The most beautiful art, jewelry, and gifts. Perfectly curated. Every time I visit, there is something new and even more beautiful than the year before. I have known this shop and this shop owner since I worked in the shop 43 years ago. I saw the review from a parent who thought it was okay to allow her children to try on items meant for adults. I don't agree with that parent. I have known this shop to cater to families with well behaved children, to sell t shirts and other items especially for children, and I know the shop owner to be a woman who likes children. If I had been working in the shop I would have immediately asked the mother not to allow her children to try on hats and gloves not meant for them and that would not be purchased for them. The shop is not a playground. I don't know the parents of these kids, who I'm sure meant no harm, but I do know the owner and manager and they are wonderful people who have run this shop well for decades.

First of all, it's Woods Hole. Science nerd heaven. The town is small and charming enough for any tourist but for science types this is a special place. Under the Sun recognizes that and offers a range of lovely crafts, jewelry, soaps and gifts that will charm anyone. Many of their beautiful things are handmade so the prices are not bargain, but you get quality that matches cost. There is a range from affordable to high end which is great when looking for a small lovely thing to remember a lovely place. They take cash, credit and debit. Street parking only, metered, and getting a spot is a gladiatorial game, so it's easier to plan any Woods Hole trip with walking as the main means of travel. Besides, you see the town in a way cars can't offer. Lovely for anyone but truly special for anyone in the sciences.

I had a terrible experience with the staff. They kicked me out of the store and called the POLICE without any provocation. They sell an item called scarf/mask. Unfortunately it’s too wide and cannot possibly be used as a mask. When I tried to return the item, they refused. I explained calmly that the item is falsely advertised as a mask, and asked to exchange the item for a mask. They again refused. When I returned to the store to ask for a manager, they kicked me out and called the police. This was shocking as I acted peacefully and never threatened anyone. What shame!

Candy store
Candy Go Nuts in Woods Hole is a delightful destination for those with a sweet tooth. This old-fashioned sweets store offers a mouthwatering selection of Richardsons ice cream and an array of beloved candies, including salt water taffy, gummy bears, Nonpareils, and more. Located just five minutes from the Woods Hole ferry, it's the perfect place to indulge in classic penny candies or treat yourself to a generous scoop of delicious ice cream.
The old reviews mentioning the allergy concerns are definitely outdated as it seems they are very conscious of keeping all customers safe. The young lady who helped us was so kind, offered us the allergen information sheets, used a clean scooper and helped my son pick out his favorite flavor. I'm so glad we stopped in and gave it a try!

They scoop a generous single scoop and the ice cream is great! Paying the extra $1.25 for the big waffle cone is worth it. The prices are pretty high, but given the location are not surprising. Staffed by a bunch of very polite teenagers. Thanks guys!

The name is misleading bc the ice cream here is way better than their candy and it hits the spot after riding the shining sea bikeway. Lots of outdoor seating as well.

Allergy families have it hard enough, without having to be told to wait outside like dogs. We know you serve allergens, we arent stupid. Please consider changing you signage to alert people, not exclude them. It wouldnt take much work to accommodate a few allergies, BTW. Many, many ice cream shops are doing it in the north east. It's one thing not to take measures to be allergy safe, but this is ableism and the sign is just offensive. No need to shame people with allergies. That's just really poor etiquette. We will bring our business elsewhere.

Day 5

Off the beaten path
For day 5, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Trunk River Beach. Not quite as popular as Woods Hole Science Aquarium, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Trunk River Beach

Beach
Trunk River Beach, located in Woods Hole, is a hidden gem offering tranquility and stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. Situated just a few miles north of Falmouth Heights Beach, it provides a more secluded experience. The beach features a mix of sandy and stony shores, creating a unique and picturesque setting. Visitors can enjoy long walks along the shore and even hunt for sea glass. It's also known as a dog-friendly spot where pets can roam off-leash.
My favorite beach on the cape! It’s never too crowded, nice and long so you can just keep walking, and a good place for sea glass hunting. Many people let their dogs off leash since you have to climb down the rocks to get there, and I love to see the dogs running through the water. A great place to spend the day.
Zoe S — Google review
I laugh at the 5 star reviews. This beach is very narrow and lacks sand. It's all rocks and broken shells and you need shoes to walk on it. Granted the view is nice, but it has very little parking and swarms of people from the bike trail are everywhere. Much better beaches in the area.
G G — Google review
Cool beach! Limited parking with a porta-potty. It has lots of large (fist size and smaller) rocks, and runs along the bike path. There is a little river with a very short trail to explore.
Lauren B — Google review
Beautiful, warm, and amazing views. One of the best beaches in the USA. Would go there again

It was a nice playground with a few cool features. And it had a tall tower u could climb up too and swings. But it wasn't the best playground I have seen

Great public playground at the Woods Hole park.
Ketil K — Google review
It's ok. It's old and everything is made of wood. It's not a very good playground, but there don't seem to be many playgrounds around so it's better than nothing.

A pleasant surprise. The kids loved climbing in and under the massive wooden climbing structures.

My family traveled the world to see this pond, but we were very disappointed to see that there were no eels in the river. It was a complete disrespect to my family and I wish they would add some eels in the future.
Yash M — Google review

An amazing store - beautifully curated with gorgeous handmade items - charcuterie boards, table linens, candles, pillows, whimsical cards and artwork and photos from local artists- I really wanted everything and had to restrain myself, the perfect shop to find an amazing and unique gift for anyone. Definitely has a ‘Cape’ vibe - but who doesn’t love a wee bit of the Cape memories in their home. The owners- Melissa and Patrick are lovely and artists in their own right- the customer service is great. I ordered some items when I got home and they arrived promptly- beautifully wrapped with a sweet thank you note
Sarah H — Google review
A unique selection of gift ideas. (Not a run-of-the mill tourist shop.) Melissa was a delight to talk with.
Tee R — Google review
Absolutely the best store on the Cape. Patrick and Melissa do an amazing job keeping the shop stocked with lovely home items, decor and gifts. It’s my one stop for all my candles and books and local to the Cape art.
Belafonte N — Google review
A lovely and original selection of local home items, decor, food, etc. It was nice to see items that are different (and nicer) than other gift shops! Nice quality too. Will be going back!
Isis M — Google review
This is a great little shop! The owners make the cutting boards, trays, candles, and more, and they were a pleasure to chat with. They were also very accommodating in shipping us a replacement glass pitcher after we accidentally broke it. Our family bikes to Woods Hole every summer (multiple times) and look forward to our next stop in the store.
Kevin M — Google review
I needed the toilet extremely badly. Just as I was going to the public toilet, the bridge was closed and I had to ask this place. He said they have toilets and they are not public. I begged, but they didn't let me even though I begged. Of course, I didn't make any purchases from this place. what I would like to say; these people are bad.
Cafer I — Google review
Super cute new shop in Woods Hole. The proprietor makes the woodwork in the store in his shop behind the shop! Has a bunch of other local products like soap and candles. the owners are also very nice and willing to chat. Big fan of this place!

Nestled in the charming town of Falmouth, MA, Estia Falmouth is a delightful dining destination that captures the essence of Greek cuisine. With options for dine-in, curbside pickup, and no-contact delivery, it caters to every preference—whether you want to savor your meal in their cozy restaurant or enjoy it at home. Great food, fresh and scratch made. Plenty of cocktail options and a large wine list. The staff is friendly and professional. There is free parking behind the restaurant. I definitely recommend going there. It was, to me… the best Greek restaurant I’ve been in. The atmosphere was amazing!!! I love it there!!!
Mike J — Google review
We enjoyed our dinner at Estia! All the appetizers that we ordered (see pictures) were excellent! The village salad tasted like the regular greek salad you would get in Greece. The restaurant has outdoor and indoor seating and we enjoyed seating outdoor in a shade between 5-6 pm. Victoria (our waitress) was so so attentive and made our dining experience even better!

The Mashpee and Falmouth location were both exceptionally clean and beautiful. Everything I had at both locations was delicious. The spreads, salads and lamb were phenomenal. Staff was also helpful and friendly.

Food was great. Would recommend the lamp lollipops and the sweet potato fries appetizer as well as their version of a tiramisu. Gyro was okay. Fantastic cocktails.
Christina C — Google review
The food here is absolutely delicious. I ordered the chicken gyro and chicken kabob and both were great. Well seasoned and good portions. The restaurant also has really nice decor to fit the cuisine. Enjoyable experience.

Lively place with mediocre Greek food. Tips are calculated on the total amount of your check. Why?
Carl F — Google review
Great experience! I want to thank Dusan in particular! We went there for a family dinner. Had outdoor seats. Really nice space. Really nice menu. We tried many items. During the dinner, it started to storm. They were awesome and switched us a table to the indoors. Inside was also beautiful. Bar area was super packed. People looked like they were having a great time. The food was excellent as well and the kids enjoyed their meals. We will be back. Excellent service!
