The Hippocrates Plane Tree is a serene location featuring a large plane tree, where legend has it that the renowned physician Hippocrates taught his students. This ancient site is surrounded by various attractions such as the Gymnasium from the Hellenistic period, Casa Romana, Roman Odeon, Ottoman mosques, and structures from the Italian occupation.
You can enter right from street by the government building by the ocean, with a busstop nearby. It is also close to the old castle and the harbour. There is not much to see but with anything else, it is still always good to witness some history in some form.
Caroline N — Google review
The Hippocrates Tree is a lovely spot to visit in Kos Town. It offers a nice bit of nature and a chance to learn some of the history behind Hippocrates and his connection to the island. Overall, it also gives you a nice overview of the bay area, making it a pleasant stop while exploring the town.
Glen B — Google review
To visit the possible birthplace of modern medical understanding , to take shade under the descendent sibling of that once great tree who play host to the great minds of antiquity can not be fully described! It must be felt..
Adrik C — Google review
It’s a tree. Nothing to tree here I’m afraid. Pointless. Even the ruins around here aren’t that great, not very well maintained. It killed 5 minutes before I found something better.
Chris ( — Google review
To be honest it's a tree. A very old tree. Held up with scaffolding. However it is a quiet shady spot and how could you visit Kos and not go and see it given the world wide medical culture that arose on this spot (allegedly).
Kim H — Google review
Perfect spot, surrounded by some old Greek buildings and the oldest tree lit with light. Fantastic entertainment which totally set the mood. Service was excellent and my sea bass was delicious. Restaurant is more pricey than others in the town but if you are wanting some evening ambiance with a touch of class away from the tourist area this is the place.
Sophie C — Google review
It's not the best best sightseeing experience we've had. The tree is not actually the tree that Hippocrates taught his students as it is only around 500 years old. Although it is thought to be a descendant of the original tree.
Derek B — Google review
Well...the scaffolding ruins the surroundings and tree itself. It's a shame. A must visit of course, but once in a lifetime thing.

Historical landmark
The Loggia mosque, also known as the Mosque of Gazi Hassan Pasha, was constructed in 1786 and is situated behind the Plane Tree. Originally belonging to the Turkish minority in Kos, it has not been used for prayer for quite some time. Below the mosque, there are shops where visitors can purchase various souvenirs, including a translated version of the famous Hippocratic Oath available in multiple languages.
A great example of history. It should be quickly restored and made suitable for visits again. This is a point where religions and cultures coexist.

Damaged badly, it’s sad to see such. historical place of worship in such a condition. Hope to see this restore. It was built in 1758 by Gazi Hassan Pasha.

Kos

Island
Kos is a picturesque island in the Dodecanese archipelago, known for its sandy beaches and rich history showcased through Greek and Roman ruins. The island offers a culinary experience that highlights local products, such as fried Feta cheese wrapped in filo pastry with Kalymnian thyme honey, grilled Talagani cheese with sweet tomato marmalade from Kos, and fresh seafood like Ceviche made from smoked White Tuna by Kalymnian fishermen.
Kos island a great place to visit large number of beaches. Kos town and harbour we'll worth a visit wide variety of boat trips set off from here. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from se veiw hotel is a place we stopped at just on the out skirts of Kadema nice friendly run hotel.
Brian G — Google review
Was over in Kos Island recently for a conference, and I’ve to say, it’s a smashing place altogether. Even with a packed schedule, I managed to steal a bit of time to explore, and I’m glad I did. The island’s full of gorgeous beaches - honestly, you’re never too far from the sea - and Kos Town itself is well worth a wander. The harbour’s lively, with all sorts of boat trips heading out daily, from gentle cruises to a bit more adventure if that’s your thing. There’s no shortage of places to eat or grab a drink, and the whole place has this relaxed, welcoming vibe. What surprised me most, though, was how much history is packed in - from ancient Greek temples and Roman mosaics to the castle at the harbour and the famed tree of Hippocrates. You don’t have to be a history buff to appreciate it - it’s all there in the open, woven into daily life. All in all, Kos has that perfect balance of work, wander, and a bit of wonder - I’d go back in a heartbeat, conference or no conference.

We stopped at Kouros Palace Hotel, which is a 20-minute transfer from the airport. This might sound terrible, but the planes only take off certain times of the day, and with long gaps between The hotel is very clean, and the staff go out of their way to help. Two decent size pools and also a paddling pool. The hotel also offers a great private beach front with its own bar and fresh cooked food. The hotel is situated 2 miles from the nearest town of Mastichari, which also provides food and drink. If your looking to find a hotel to unwind this was well worth its money. The only negative comment that I do have about the hotel was the repetitive evening meal choice. Greek night on the Saturday was outstanding ,with fresh cooked Lamb chops and pork cooked on the hot plates

Castle is free to visit albeit not as spectacular as Bodrum Castle in Turkey but it's worth a look. We loved the main square but food and drink is pricey, we enjoyed the pretty side streets and found much better value there - the Ambrosia is recommended.
Paul J — Google review
Another beautiful Greek island that really has it all: beautiful beaches, interesting towns and good people! Whether you're here just for vacation or nightlife, to enjoy the architecture or food and drink, you're in the right place. I recommend accommodation in Kos town and then a tour by rental car or Ktel (bus) which works perfectly. Enjoy!

History Museums
The Archaeological Museum of Kos, established in 1936 during the Italian occupation, showcases a wealth of ancient island artifacts including sculptures and mosaics. Following extensive renovations funded by the EU, the museum reopened in September 2016. The distinctive building houses a collection that offers insight into the rich history and artistic legacy of ancient Kos.
Really enjoyed the museum, holds a massive amount of items from discoveries found across the island with plenty of detailed descriptions about their history. The only slight negative (and I may have missed them), I could have done with a guide book and I'm pretty certain there was no shop, I really wanted a book on the archeology of Kos. Regardless of that though it was a bright and informative way of keeping entertained whilst there was a massive early April thunderstorm going on outside, added to the atmosphere!
Allan C — Google review
I enjoyed the exhibition at this museum. However, for a ticket price of €10, it feels a bit steep, especially since the visit only takes about half an hour—or up to an hour if you take your time reading and sitting down. Overall, I would recommend it if you’re genuinely interested in the subject. But if you’re unsure, I wouldn’t advise going.
Glen B — Google review
It's only open on certain days, luckily we got there on a weekday where it was open. The site is beautifully restored with some good explanations. If you're in kos island and have some time swing by this ancient marble. You should give a chance

Visited midweek. Small museum covering some of Kos amazing history. Unfortunately it didn't appear to be in chronological order and cost €10. I would strongly suggest that Kos place information signs on the numerous historical sites around the town to explain the significance of what just appears to be a load of rubble.

This two floor Museum is close to the harbor and Main Street of Kos. With reading mostly everything it took me about 45-minutes to get through. Interesting info but not laid out in any way that makes sense. Could have done a much better job. Does have a lot of the sculptures from the Roman Villa and from a few sites around Kos. It cost €10 to enter and I personally do not think it was worth it.

This is such an interesting place to visit when in Kos town. The ensure of an old market place, there are plenty of ruins to walk round and see up close. We visited 25 years ago and now again ton July 2025. Definitely worth a visit.

The ancient agora is a sight to behold. Although it is not as well maintained as the Roman Odeon in my opinion, there is weed everywhere and some of the signs appear to be missing, you can still feel the history present in this place. Walking through it is a nice experience and with free access during daytime, something that you shouldn't skip when in Kos town.

I really enjoyed visiting the Ancient Agora in Kos. It’s free to enter, which is a great bonus, and it’s fascinating to walk among the ruins and imagine what life was like thousands of years ago. It’s not a huge site, but it’s a fun way to step back in time and get a glimpse of the island’s rich history. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Kos Town.

I left a similar review on the sanctuary of arophdite. It is odd to review ruins as they are always special. What I mean to say is it is a real shame there is no information to be able to understand and seperate out the history of each area. I am not sure why this site is not maintained for what it could be, it seems in the past there were information boards that have now been removed. It was free, but I would have absolutely paid for greater upkeep and information

Sanctuary of Aphrodite

Historical landmark
The Sanctuary of Aphrodite, a remarkable historical site located at the entrance of the ancient harbor, dates back to the late 3rd or early 2nd century BC. Constructed on an artificial embankment nearly three meters high, this sanctuary was dedicated to Aphrodite, who served as both protector and patroness of love and marriage in Kos. Newlyweds were known to offer sacrifices here as part of their celebrations.
(Translated by Google) It was the city's trade, market and socializing place in ancient times. It was built in the 4th century BC and the first excavations started in 1933. (Translated by Google) Visiting the Sanctuary of Aphrodite in Kos takes you back in time to ancient Greece. This strategically located ruin, right at the entrance to the port, was once a key place of worship for the goddess of love. You will see the remains of two temples and altars dedicated to Aphrodite as the protector of the people and patron of sailors. Despite the destruction, this place still allows you to imagine ancient ceremonies and feel the spirit of history. Perfect for lovers of archaeology and mythology. Nerantzia Castle

Fortress
Nerantzia Castle, also known as the Castle of the Knights, is a 14th-century fortress located by the seaside in Kos. The castle offers stunning views of Kos harbor and is surrounded by sculptures. The area around Kos Town has significant historical sites from Hellenistic and Roman times, including public buildings and residential areas. The town was carefully planned to incorporate these excavations into its structure, creating open spaces and a new central square with unique architectural styles.
Visiting this place during my trip to Kos was a delight. It offers fantastic photo opportunities while exploring. History enthusiasts will particularly enjoy this site. A leisurely stroll takes about an hour, or an hour and a half if you stop to take pictures. On the top of the castle provides stunning views of Kos. It's advisable to bring a drink with you, as there were no facilities inside during our visit. The remnants of damage from a past earthquake are visible. Entry was free when I went. Convenient parking is available nearby, so there's little walking required. The locals are quite welcoming. I liked it so much that I visited twice.

Would of like to explore this place but like most of kos structures and monuments they are either closed or abandoned with no information. Seems most of it is need of a massive influx of cash to get them back to some of way that tourist can visit and learn the history
Shaun E — Google review
I would happily pay couple of euros each to come into this fine place. A combination of modern and mythological history situated in the heart of Kos, for any history buff this is an amazing walk. As said it is free with local eateries nearby on the harbour. Please explore it is safe go down the unlit tunnels and let your inner kid go wild with enjoyment. Wish for more educational aspects to it as I was explaining to many the parts of the building and how some of it was changed to incorporate the use of it during ww2

Platanos Restaurant, located in the historic Platanos square of Kos Town, has a rich history dating back to 1979. Housed in a renovated Venetian-style building that once served as an officers' club during the Italian occupation of WWII, this restaurant and coffee bar offers a unique dining experience.
A great place to enjoy a reasonable priced cold beer, taking in the historical surroundings. They have live acoustic music later, a great way to end the night before a good feed in the near by tavernas. It can get busy so get there early for music nights.

The atmosphere was truly wonderful — beautiful setting and overall a nice vibe. The service was a bit reserved and dry, but still polite and attentive. Unfortunately, we found small stones in our food. The staff apologized right away, which we appreciated, but we were a bit surprised that the affected dish wasn’t taken off the bill. Overall, a nice experience with room for improvement.

we booked for a dinner in August this year and I can say it was the best night of our one week stay thanks to the atmosphere and live music! There were very talented two musicians playing some nice songs (mostly acoustic pop-rock classics) and the atmosphere with all the history was just amazing. I need to tell that the food and the wine was very tasty as well, with a good service. "Grilled Beetroot" to share can be an interesting option that you won't regret.

Otto e mezzo is a great Italian restaurant in Kos with a beautiful garden at the back. The young staff are excellent and cope well with large or small groups. It would definitely recommend and we will return next time we are on the island.
You can dine in as well as get take out, which came in very handy. The first time we took out, the second time we dined in. The food was amazing and the service there was great they didn’t treat us like strangers they treated us like family. The service was so good that when we left to go back home on the ferry one of my friends left a power bank there, but they didn’t just leave it so as soon as they saw it they wasted to time and ran to the dock where our ferry was, to return the power bank. That was quite impressive because we drove back to the docks and he just ran there. The food was all recommended by the staff and we tried them it tasted so good that I would like to let you know that, the FISH HOUSE TAVERNA will make your moneys worth.

We visited The Fish House Taverna, which is perfectly situated on the famous Kos steps. It’s in a very popular area with lots of buzz and atmosphere, but despite the busy location, the quality of the food and service didn’t drop at all. The service was excellent — friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. It felt very personal, and the staff made sure we were comfortable throughout. The setting itself was lovely, with charming décor, soft lighting, and a real Greek island feel. It had a relaxed yet lively atmosphere that made the whole experience really enjoyable. The menu was easy to read and had a good variety of traditional Greek dishes. We ordered the lamb kleftiko and the chicken gyros. The kleftiko arrived in a clay pot, which was a great touch and made the dish feel very authentic — it was tender, flavourful, and satisfying. The chicken gyros was also delicious, seasoned really well, and I liked that they served potato rounds instead of chips — it was a refreshing change from the usual. Prices were fair for the quality, portions were generous, and everything felt fresh and well-prepared. The only small downside was that there were no beers on draft, only bottled options, but that’s hardly a dealbreaker. Overall, a lovely experience with great food, friendly service, and a beautiful setting. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Kos and want a genuine Greek meal in a memorable location.

Beautiful restaurant just oozing with Greek feels. If you want a table on the stairs then definitly book but if your not bothered there is more seating round the back but we wanted the harbour view. Food good Staff friendly Price pretty average

A wonderful taverna! We enjoyed every meze and every dish on the table, everything was delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the music created a great atmosphere. Our accommodation was right next door, so every time we went out and came back, we passed through and greeted the staff which made it feel even warmer and more welcoming. Definitely a place we’d love to come back to.

What a fantastic find whilst walking through KO's in old town. Took some family pictures on the steps outside and decided to check out the Google reviews. After reading the reviews i decided to come back with the family for lunch. It was fantastic in every way, excellent food, pleasant and attentive service at a reasonable price and the amazing views. Best food all holiday. Thanks to the team for the excellent dining experience.

My recent visit to Fish House Taverna was one of the most delightful dining experiences I've had in the recent time. From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the atmosphere. The restaurant is situated in a beautiful, natural setting, with tables nestled under the cool shade of trees. This created a peaceful and inviting ambiance that made our evening feel truly special. It was the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and enjoyable meal, and we felt instantly comfortable and at ease. The food itself was the highlight of the evening. Every dish was a testament to the chef's skill and passion. I can honestly say that the meal I had was one of the best I’ve eaten recently. The flavors were perfectly balanced, the ingredients were incredibly fresh, and the presentation was impeccable. It was a culinary journey that exceeded all of my expectations. The menu offered a wonderful selection, and everything we tried was a masterpiece of taste and texture. What truly elevated our experience, however, was the exceptional service. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about making sure we had a great time. They were always there when we needed them, offering helpful recommendations and making us feel incredibly welcome without being overbearing. Their warmth and professionalism added a personal touch that made our evening all the more pleasant. While the prices were on the higher side, we both agreed that the quality of the food, the stunning setting, and the fantastic service were well worth the cost. The entire experience felt like a treat, and we left with a sense of complete satisfaction. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and will certainly be back for another unforgettable meal. I hope this review captures all the positive points you wanted to share! Let me know if you would like me to adjust or add anything else.

I went there while on a holiday to Kos. The taverna looks super authentic and has a very "marine" decoration style thats raw and charming. Whats also charming is the kitties on-site The food is amazing - I ordered the Mix Seafood plate that contains Calamari, Mussels, Shrimp, and Local Fish. The prices are a little high but the portions are SO HUGE. The man who asks you if you want a drink is very nice and speaks good english, and so do the wonderful waitresses. They are very competent and time from order to arrival is pretty short. We also received a small bite of free dessert. Toilets are free, Drinks are overpriced but you are free to bring your own.

Ancient Ruins
The Roman Odeon of Kos, an open-air theater constructed in the 2nd century, features restored marble seating and galleries. Surrounding attractions include the Hippocrates tree, believed to have stood since ancient times when the renowned doctor taught his students under its shade. Other notable sites on the island include Ottoman mosques, buildings from the Italian occupation period, and historic landmarks like castles and churches.
An impressive site of historical importance. You can climb the steps and have a good view over the entire site. There are tunnels to explore underneath too. Good information written in Greek and English. And best of all it was free!
Toni B — Google review
You can feel the history of the Odeon as you walk up to it. It is only small but it is quite impressive. It only takes about half an hour or so to look around and take a few photos, but it's worth it. You don't need tickets to enter, and it is free of charge.
Derek B — Google review
I usually give ancient sites 5 stars, and while it is interesting, it's been over restored and looks like a modern seating area you'd find in a park. Apart from a few areas they left alone, and they're behind iron gates and inside you see modern office chairs which ruins the small amount of the truly ancient part of the site. It's easy to walk to if you're in Kos, and it's free which is really all that's good about it.
Brian M — Google review
Yesterday, I visited the Roman Odeon in Kos, an ancient auditorium dating back to the 2nd century AD that once served as the hub of public life with musical competitions, senate meetings, and civic celebrations. Some original marble seating remains, and the site has been thoughtfully restored since its discovery in 1929. Today, the Odeon is still part of Kos’s vibrant heritage—often hosting cultural events and exhibitions—and you can even explore the fascinating underground walkways where several remarkable statues were found during excavations. Plenty of information boards inside too.
James O — Google review
The Odeum of Kos is definitely worth a visit, especially since it’s free. The site itself is impressive, but what makes it even more interesting are the tunnels underneath. They give you a great insight into how the structure looked and functioned before it started to crumble over time. A short stop, but a fascinating glimpse into the island’s past.
Glen B — Google review
A well preserved theatre however being an Odeon it's much smaller than oter ancient theatres. Don't let that stop you exploring this place, the information panels in the restored vaulted passageways do an excellent job of telling the complete story of this structure - I especially liked the reconstruction drawing showing it in its glory.
Phillip M — Google review
This is about a 5 minute walk from the bus station in Kos Town. Quite quiet when I visited which was good. You can view under the steps too. They probably could have done a much better restoration job as the majority of steps / tiers look like concrete.

Lambi Beach, located about 2 km north of Kos Town, is a popular spot with a mix of sand and pebbles. It's known for its vibrant nightlife scene and the nearby Mylos Beach Bar, which hosts events featuring both national and international DJs. The beach offers lounge chair rentals and is surrounded by bars and clubs that cater to a younger crowd.
the water is so clean and so is the sand, the boats and ships can sometimes make the water choppy and a bit dangerous, but if you spent a very strong swimmer you don't meed to just stay next to the shore as the water goes deep slowly it's good, if you are in kos I recommend going there! Just across the sea you can see turkey (I think 😅)
Freya B — Google review
There are sand and stone areas with lovely, clear water and turquoise water. Parts are sheltered with trees and along the whole stretch there are areas with sun loungers to hire, some of which are private for hotels close by. There are beach bars, too.

Clean beautiful beach , i enjoyed there. We ordered strawberry and mango smoothie. The one with strawberry didn’t taste that good. The only thing i didn’t like was that there weren’t enough space between the sun-beds.

Beach that runs from Kos up and around the headland. Lots of bar lounger plenty of space . Not very wide but a shallow waterline.
Ian B — Google review
There's a city bus that goes from Kos town to Lambi. You can also walk there (15-20 min), or ride a bike since it's only about 1-2 km from Kos port. Rather desolate beach in April; during high season it becomes overly commercial, all covered in restaurant sunbeds. There is no shade, and the sand is course, and dirty, certainly not very inviting, hence the numerous sunbed rentals all along this rather ugly beach. Nothing worth seeing at Lambi. If you strain your eyes, you can vaguely make out the Turkish coast in the distance, through the haze. But you can do so from almost anywhere in Kos town.

Historical landmark
The Hellenistic Gymnasium in Kos is a fascinating archaeological site that offers a glimpse into ancient athletic and leisure activities. The ruins include the so-called Carved Street, where athletes exercised, as well as a well-preserved swimming pool. Visitors can explore columns and floor mosaics that are sheltered from the sun. The site also features remnants of underfloor heating, drainage systems, and plumbing in the villa rewind. With free entry and open access until 6:30 p.m.
What an absolutely brilliant and amazing site. There is still paint on the walls in the villa rewind, you can see where the underfloor heating, drainage and plumbing was installed. There is a large swimming pool, with plunge pools and loads of columns and doorways to explore! I would recommend this to everyone.

(Translated by Google) When visiting the city of Kos, a walk in this archaeological site is advisable. Free entry which however does not justify the tall grass and the bins full of rubbish that have not been emptied and in general the almost total lack of interest in the conservation of this artistic heritage. (Original) Nella visita della città di Kos una passeggiata in questo sito archeologico è consigliabile. Admission is free, but there's no explanatory signage or map of the site, which isn't exactly small. Visited by many tourists, it would take very little to make it more accessible. Casa Romana is an ancient Roman villa that has been restored and now houses two floors of art, including mosaics, frescoes, and sculptures. The museum was originally founded in 1936 by the Italians and has recently undergone significant improvements funded largely by the EU. These enhancements include improved signage, restoration of fallen columns, and new exhibitions at Casa Romana and the small Epigraphical Museum beside the Asclepieion.
Unfortunately we weren’t able to see the inside, the credit card machine was down and they couldn’t break our 50euros Make sure to have the exact change just in case! Winter time tickets are 3euros per person and I believe during summer it is 6 euros per person.

Well worth the 10 euro (each for adults) entrance fee. So much history at this place & it is quite large. Beautiful statues and mosaics amongst other artifacts. Lots of written information about each section in Greek and English. Incredibly good job that has been done of restoring this fabulous building.

Beautiful place - definitely worth a visit! The interior is stunning and the staff are incredibly friendly. One note: there are pigeon nests, and the amount of droppings is quite an issue. It would be great if the authorities addressed this soon - pigeons really shouldn’t be nesting inside a museum.

You really get to appreciate the scale of a Roman Villa house. The reconstruction brings scale and helps the imagination understand how Romans inhabited their house. Plenty of interesting information panels and it's fascinating to see restored mosaics and wall decorations that bring immediacy to the written details. If you like Roman houses and want to get a feel of their lifestyle, this museum does an awesome job of doing that.

Really great place, very friendly and lively to be outdoors. Loved seeing all the locals watching a film in English. Only complaints were the seats became very uncomfortable after a couple of hours, and the sounds of teenagers munching popcorn non stop behind us 🤣 . But go, it's a great experience, if only to realise how good other cultures are at languages, and its just nice watching a film outside in the warmth of a summers evening 😀

We came here to watch The Little Mermaid and it was such a nice experience. The staff were friendly and prices were very reasonable. For anyone from the UK - €13 for a popcorn, sweets, a coke and a beer is a steal! The setting was really nice, with low lighting etc, and the screen and sound quality exceeded my expectations. Early Christian Basilica of Saint Gabriel

Historical landmark
The Early Christian Basilica of Saint Gabriel is a fascinating archaeological site that offers a glimpse into the past. Discovered by Italian archaeologists in 1935, this early Byzantine basilica was originally situated in an area prone to flooding, leading to its eventual abandonment. Although much of its valuable artifacts have been relocated to museums, visitors can still admire the picturesque ruins that remain on-site.
Beautiful remains of an early christian basilica. Unfortunately this archaeological site seems to be abandoned and is quite unmaintained. At least the grass seems to have been mowed, so entry was easy. There are still some beautiful remains of the original stoneworks and some very well preserved columns. The site can be visited free of charge.
Harry's W — Google review
I wish this had been better maintained, the grass is overgrown and there is rubbish everywhere. For such a special place, it is a great shame. Some of the ruins are actually in a good condition and I enjoyed sitting and spending time there. Lots of butterflies and lizards around. My 3 stars are due to the rubbish and lack of information about the history, this site could be so much more

Paradiso Beach is a true gem on the island of Kos, boasting stunning white sands that stretch for miles, framed by lush greenery and dramatic rocky cliffs. Located about 33 kilometers from Kos town, this beach is often referred to as 'bubble beach' due to the volcanic gases that create bubbles in the water. While it may be a bit challenging to access, this adds to its charm and keeps crowds at bay.
Literally the cutest beach 🥹 we paid €6 for all day sunbed, one drink, showers, inflatables, toilets (super clean too) and just the best vibes!! Very relaxing music and the ladies working there were so welcoming and friendly!! We can't wait to go back 🩷

The reviews don’t lie! Very nice beach, comfy sunbeds and in my opinion reasonably priced. For 10€ you get a sunbed, one drink, proper bathroom and a shower/changing room. You can clearly see this place is well maintained. Entrance to the sea can be a bit rocky but unless you are extremely sensitive you probably survive without shoes.

Olympia restaurant cafe in Kos city is a must-visit for anyone looking for an authentic Greek dining experience. The friendly and welcoming staff create a warm and inviting atmosphere, making solo diners feel right at home. We visited this restaurant four times during our two-week stay in Kos, Greece it truly served the best Greek food we had on the entire trip. Every dish was incredibly fresh and bursting with authentic, outstanding flavors from the crisp salads and freshly baked bread to the vintage wine, rich moussaka, and perfectly grilled chicken souvlaki. The raspberry cheesecake was the perfect sweet ending. What truly made the experience unforgettable, though, was the warm and beautiful service from Olga. She added a personal touch that made us feel so welcome and made each visit truly special. A memorable dining experience in every way. Joanna & Andreas xx

Food is actually very tasty, we had Halloumi, saganaki, tzaziki, zucchini fritters, sea Bass and garlic bread. All of them very amazing. The only reason I gave 4 is the fish was very salty, like very very. I woke up at night 4 times to drink water. And I usually salt my food without tasting. Otherwise very good. Cool people working there. A bit slow but it’s ok, Would I come again? Yup I would.

We actually ate here 3 times over the course of our week's holiday in Kos we chose there to have lunch on our last day. The moment you walk in you are made to feel like a returning friend. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The whole environment is exceptional, with tables on the beach if you want one. The view is incredible, wherever you sit. As for the food, what can I say, it's fantastic. With 6 children ranging in age from 12 to 18 it's hard to find something for everyone to eat. Not at Mavromatis. There is plenty of choice (even for the vegetarians amongst us) and the quality it superb. We can't recommend this place highly enough.

Mavromatis Restaurant offers a beautiful seaside setting with a charming atmosphere. The Greek salad, moussaka, tzatziki, and zucchini balls were all excellent. Friendly service, fair prices – a wonderful spot to enjoy authentic Greek cuisine by the sea.

Amazing! Once we found out about this Taverna we came back every day for either lunch or dinner. The food was just delicious and the staff is super friendly and very, very hard working. The moussaka, zuccini balls, mussel saganki and dorade fish of the day were super tastefull. Not to forget, the view on the beach terrace is stunning, beautifull sunset. Best restaurant on Kos for us! :)

Great location by the the sea on the beach. Friendly staff and very good service, food ok, and good sized portions. Mixed grill just lacking something flavor to give it a real wow. Would recommend though

All the food was so delicious. Portions are really big. The service was very good and super friendly. The view was amazing. I had such a wonderful time.

Magical. Eating in the beach right above the sea! You could see the sunset with made everything so pretty. Everything was good and the service was really good!

Hands down the best restaurant we've eaten at while in Kos. Uptown slightly from the seafront, about a 5 minute walk. Staff are friendly and food was incredible. I had a meat platter, and my girlfriend had a pizza, both were very good, and not too expensive. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Kos.

Zorbas is a really lovely spot in Kos Town! The food was great with lots of Greek classics to choose from – the pork gyros were especially tasty. The place is decorated beautifully with loads of quirky touches, colourful furniture, and pretty outdoor lights. The staff were super kind and welcoming, and the toilets were clean too. It is a bit more expensive than some other places in Kos, and the gyros could’ve had a bit more veg, but overall it’s a great experience and worth a visit!

Great mixed gyros, and a lovely setting. Friendly staff but a bit distant didn’t make it feel special. But the food was great and a good portion, a bit more expensive than thought. Would return and recommend.

We ended up here on 3 nights of our holiday. The food was delicious and you must have the Baklava this was amazing. We tried lots of different things and all were freshly cooked and tasty. The service was good during the busiest time we went we did have a bit of a wait for desert but as on holiday this was not an issue. The surroundings were lovely and it had a real family feel which we loved

A very pleasant Greek restaurant that offers a variety of food. Everyone can find something for themselves. Our food was excellent.

Nice place and amazing food! It has become TikTok famous, there’s a lot of branding for the restaurant. We came early at 19 and there was very few people already eating. The restaurant gets a little bit lost when it start to get crowded. A little bit of wait and hard to catch the waiters attention. But the food was amazing!

Amazing food, amazing family restaurant (I played guess who’s on the front cover of the menu). Great friendly atmosphere. Also, the sauce that the shrimps came in ( chefs bloody kiss) 👌🏻

Definitly worth a visit and different to other restaurants with its multicoloured theme. Wife enjoyed her food, I got a pizza which was good but not jaw dropping but then were in Greece not Italy so maybe my choice could have been better. Didn’t have to book, got there about 7pm Staff lovely, the owners were also there which I thought were nice. Follow us on Instagram dandb_foodies for more 😊

Out for a walk on our first day and came across here for brunch. Great vibe and scenery right next to the water. The food was very nice, hit the spot. Loads of salmon in the salmon club focaccia. Recommend going, nice walk down there from town.

Great little place. Food was well presented and yummy. Beer is a tad expensive and only come in 330ml glasses. Views are cool, and the restaurant is very clean! Really enjoyed myself!

Great restaurant / beach bar just outside of Kos town. At C food & mood you can enjoy a cold beverage or a tasty meal during the hot summers. The location is amazing just by the water. You can pay to use the sunbeds just by the water, otherwise you are welcome to be seated in the restaurant section. The prices are a bit higher than other locations in the area. Service is ok.

Lovely view out to see, lovely decor, service is good. Went for lunch and the portions are good size especially the club sandwich! Prawn pasta was ok, carbonara was lovely.. burger was good. Cocktails are nice but they didn't have any of the signature ones available unfortunately. Spicy palomino was delish. I'd recommend.

The atmosphere was nice, right by the sea with nice view. Service was good in the beginning but felt the waiters were lacking attention towards the evening, it was busy but there was a large amount of staff so it shouldn’t have been an issue, yet we didn’t manage to get their attention until we literally stood in the bar ready to pay. The food was nowhere near worth another try for us. We had the starters only as we wanted to go with a light dinner. We were served bread with dill cream. We were not asked if we wanted it and so expected it to be complementary however when we paid the bill the bread was on there, 5€ for 4 slices of bread. The rib eye tacos were hard shell tacos from those typical taco kits you can buy in the store, they were rather stale as if they had been heated but laid out for too long. The steak didn’t seem to have been added any salt or pepper. It was 3 very basic tacos of rib eye, a little greens and dill cream. The beef tartare said it had egg yolk, expecting it was raw egg yolk as a typical tartare however it was a cooked yolk. It was drenched in olive oil and didn’t taste of much else than that, better than the tacos but still disappointing for the price you pay there. Our expectations were very high simply due to the prices on the menu but we got very disappointed. The drinks are good but we won’t be coming back.

I had dinner at Cfood&Mood, and it was an amazing experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy yet stylish setting that made the evening feel special. We ordered sushi, and it was beautifully presented on a wooden platter, showing great attention to detail. The rolls were fresh, creative, and full of flavor — perfectly balanced between traditional Japanese touches and modern twists. Each bite had a great mix of textures, from crispy toppings to smooth sauces, and the use of sesame seeds and garnishes really elevated the taste. Service was friendly and attentive without being overwhelming, and the pacing of the meal was just right. You could really feel the care put into both the food and the overall dining experience.

The atmosphere is amazing, the view and the ambience great. We got very fast a table and the waiters were all kind. Even a change of table was possible , because it became a bit chilly. The different menus was handed out but it took a while too long until we could order drinks etc. The starters we had were quite good. Our 3 different main courses were not our cup of tea. We had the impression that the chef mixed up too much ingredients, some which doesn’t fit together. A try to deconstruct a traditional main which failed because the taste got lost, the fish in a sauce which was too intense so you couldn’t taste the fish properly and was too small for the price … all in all Our impression is/ was that the restaurant want the be seen as a bit higher class restaurant. The prices are way too high for the performance in general.

I recently visited a beach bar in Kos, and I must say it was a delightful experience! The atmosphere was incredibly cozy, making it the perfect spot to unwind. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, which added to the overall charm of the place. I enjoyed some delicious sushi while listening to the pleasant background music, and it truly helped me relax. I highly recommend this beach bar to anyone visiting Kos! It’s a must-visit for a wonderful time by the sea.
