The Duomo di Milano, also known as the Milan Cathedral, is a stunning example of Gothic architecture that took over 600 years to complete. Adorned with Candoglia marble, its facade boasts 135 spires and 3,400 statues. Inside, visitors can admire the impressive stained glass depicting biblical scenes and marvel at the enormous harmonica statue and golden Madonnina statue.
Duomo di Milano is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and one of Milan’s most iconic landmarks. Construction began in 1386 and took nearly six centuries to complete, resulting in a stunning cathedral adorned with intricate spires and statues. Visiting it was unforgettable—we were awed by its grandeur and beauty. We spent time taking photos and videos, capturing the breathtaking façade and panoramic views. The atmosphere was lively yet peaceful, perfect for soaking in the history and artistry. It’s a place where centuries of craftsmanship meet modern joy, making it a must-see for anyone in Milan.
Dr. H — Google review
Walking around during the roof terraces on a sunny day was terrific. The outside of the Cathedral is more interesting than the inside, but that is still very impressive. The museum was a lit more interesting than I thought it was going to be We bought timed tickets (the timing is for the roof) before going. When I bought them, I thought they were expensive. After the visit, they seem good value as visiting all areas took the whole day.

Duomo di Milano Visiting the Duomo di Milano was nothing short of an awe-inspiring experience — one that leaves a lasting impression on anyone who steps inside or even stands before its breathtaking façade. From the very first glance, the Duomo’s Gothic splendor captivates you. The intricate marble exterior, adorned with countless statues, spires, and delicate carvings, reflects centuries of craftsmanship and devotion. Stepping inside, the atmosphere changes entirely. The soft light filtering through the enormous stained-glass windows paints the vast interior in jewel tones, creating a serene and almost ethereal feeling. The soaring vaulted ceilings, majestic columns, and detailed altars speak volumes of the artistry and faith that built this extraordinary cathedral. Climbing to the rooftop was another unforgettable highlight. From there, Milan stretches out in every direction, and being among the forest of marble pinnacles and statues — each one unique — gives a completely new perspective on the city and its history. What makes the Duomo truly special is the sense of connection it inspires — to art, to faith, and to time itself. Every detail, from the smallest sculpture to the grandest dome, tells a story of patience, vision, and enduring beauty. In short, the Duomo di Milano isn’t just a church; it’s an experience — one that blends architectural genius, spiritual depth, and a sense of wonder that few places in the world can match.

The Duomo di Milano stands as Milan’s most iconic landmark, a breathtaking example of Gothic architecture that took almost six centuries to complete. Its marble façade, intricate carvings, and countless spires create an extraordinary first impression. Each detail tells a story, from the statues that crown the cathedral to the golden Madonnina standing tall above the city. Inside, the vast space, stained glass windows, and marble columns create an atmosphere of quiet reverence. We got our tickets from Get Your Guide for the Cathedral and Duomo’s Terraces Entrance Ticket, which made access simple and well organised. Exploring the terraces was an unforgettable experience. Walking among the marble pinnacles gives you a close view of the craftsmanship that defines this masterpiece. The panoramic view from the rooftop captures Milan in all its beauty, and on a clear day, you can even spot the Alps in the distance. It is an experience that combines art, faith, and history in one breathtaking moment.
Ali — Google review
Outstanding and breathtaking cathedral. You have to visit — buy tickets in advance and definitely go up to the rooftop; don’t miss that experience. At different times of day it feels like a different building because of the sun. They’re very strict about the dress code: if your shoulders and knees aren’t covered, you won’t be allowed into the church itself. They offer a disposable cover from a machine for €3, so bring a shirt, cover, or scarf to avoid paying extra for something you’ll use for 15 minutes and then throw away.
Nina P — Google review
I wanted to be there at sunset, to see the changes in the light. I did it! We bought the ticket together with the rooftop visit, we were impressed. It is worth buying tickets in advance online, but there are not many people on site during the week.
Eszter C — Google review
The inside was beautiful, but the tour area was very small. We went around the corner to the civic museum and spent over an hour touring there. The highlight for me was walking across the Bridge of Sighs. Looking out as you walk, knowing people who had been convicted had walked across there and saw the sky for the last time until they released, seemed so heavy. The rooms of the court were beautiful and covered in paintings. This was worth the price of the tickets!
Debra C — Google review
Undoubtedly one of the most magnificent cathedrals in the world. It is the cathedral that took the longest period for its cathedral: nearly 600 years, from 1386 to 1965. We went around the cathedral but could not get a full view as some renovation was still going on. We went there at night and it was a marvellous sight, a dazzling tall structure shining bright in the darkness. The vast square in front was full of people, taking in the full majesty of the cathedral.

If you have the time when visiting the Duomo you should definitely visit the Palazzo Reale. I loved this museum! The dim light gave the museum a great atmosphere and it wasn't too crowded at the moment we visited. Highly recommend if you are a fan of art and history.

Saw the Dolce and Gabbana exhibit there and was speechless. Even as someone not “being into fashion” - the commitment towards the vision and it being translated throughout Italians regions and history - really special. From the heart into the hands describes the creative process of design in all its elements very beautifully.

Went on Saturday and was told the exhibitions are free. Loved the paintings and the sculptures exhibitions. The building itself is well preserved and loved the wall colors and all the molding and sculpture details. We were very surprised that there were barely anyone there and it’s right next to one of the busiest cathedrals. it’s such a good escape from the crowd and the heat.

Colonne di San Lorenzo

(20340)
Historical landmark
Colonne di San Lorenzo, also known as Colonne, is an archaeological site in Milan featuring 16 Roman marble columns alongside the remains of an amphitheater and baths. In the evenings, it becomes a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to gather, relax on benches, enjoy street food and drinks while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere. The area often hosts impromptu concerts and street performances, adding to its lively ambiance.
Free, and it's really amazing to be near something this ancient. There are plenty of shops and a nice park nearby as well.

To be walking on the same grounds as people over 2,000 years ago was awe-inspiring! The columns were magnificent! Unfortunately the Basilica is undergoing restoration so we couldn’t see the exterior.
Gale L — Google review
Fascinating urban archaeological site from the late third century A must visit in Milan. It is also very close by to the ruins of the city's circus maximus, though unfortunately there is not too much left to see.
Carlos R — Google review
It's one of the places I like very much. We sat in the garden, drank coffee and rested. It has a nice historical atmosphere. It's also a very nice place to take photos for those who want to be photographed.
Betül S — Google review
A good place to relax. Go the convenience store, grab a cold beer, sit underneath a tree, and watch the columns, like giants resting, the people going by and laughing, the emperor statue overlooking the site, the music ... Enjoy
Simão R — Google review
This is one of Milan’s most striking Roman-era landmarks, featuring 16 Corinthian marble columns, each about 7.5 meters tall. The columns likely originated from a 2nd–3rd century Roman temple or public bath and were relocated to their current location in the 4th century. During the Middle Ages, they formed part of a quadriportico, a four-sided colonnaded forecourt in front of the Basilica of San Lorenzo. The arcade walls and supporting structures were completed in the 11th–12th centuries. In 1935, a major urban renewal project cleared away nearby residential buildings and walls, creating the open square seen today. A cross stands atop a small central column, and nearby you can also see remnants of the medieval Porta Ticinese gate. By night, the square transforms into a popular meeting spot for young people, blending ancient history with modern urban life.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a renowned 19th-century glass-covered arcade in Milan, Italy. It's situated at the heart of the city, connecting Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Scala. The gallery is a major attraction for tourists due to its proximity to significant landmarks like the Cathedral (Duomo) and the opera theatre.
Stepping in from Piazza del Duomo, the first thing that hit me was the light — filtered through the tall glass-and-iron roof so it cascades down onto the marble mosaics, giving everything a kind of golden glow. The architecture is elegant but not cold: there’s warmth in the arches, the frescoed ceilings, the decorative details everywhere. The shops are gorgeous — luxury brands, historic cafés, artful windows. It feels like fashion and heritage meeting. But yes, very

A stunning masterpiece of Italian architecture and style. The soaring glass dome, marble floors, and ornate ironwork make the Galleria one of the most elegant spaces in Europe. Standing at the center, beneath the famous mosaic of the bull, is a little ritual — spin your heel for good luck — and it’s fun to watch visitors from all over the world take part. Even if you’re not shopping, the beauty of the place makes it worth visiting. The light through the dome, the hum of conversation from the cafés, and the view toward the Duomo capture everything you imagine Milan to be — sophisticated, timeless, and full of life.
David S — Google review
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is one of those places that makes you stop and stare even if you were just walking by. The second you step inside, you feel like you have entered a different world. The glass roof, the iron structure, and the floor covered with mosaics all hit you at once. It is elegant without trying too hard, classic but still alive. Every angle looks like it was made to be photographed, and somehow it never feels fake or staged. You can hear the sound of footsteps echoing through the hall, mixed with the low buzz of people talking, laughing, and shopping. Luxury stores line both sides, but even if you are not there to spend money, just walking through is worth it. The smell of coffee from the cafes mixes with the city air, and for a moment everything feels balanced between chaos and calm. If you look up, the glass dome above makes the light fall in a way that changes through the day, from soft in the morning to golden near sunset. It gives the whole place a quiet glow. You start to realize it is not just a shopping gallery, it is a piece of Milan’s identity. Old, proud, stylish, and built to last. It is one of those spots that remind you why Milan feels different from every other city.
Efe P — Google review
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is not just a shopping mall it’s truly a masterpiece of architecture and Italian elegance. Located right next to the famous Duomo, this historic gallery feels like stepping back in time to the golden age of Milan. The stunning glass dome, the detailed mosaic floors, and the grand arches make it one of the most beautiful and photogenic places I’ve ever visited. The moment you walk in, you can feel the luxury and history surrounding you. Every corner is picture-perfect, and even if you’re not into shopping, it’s still worth visiting just to admire the design and atmosphere. The galleries are lined with high-end fashion brands like Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci a paradise for luxury shoppers. Even the window displays are pieces of art. We also stopped for a coffee at one of the cafes inside, and it was a lovely experience sitting under the glass roof watching people pass by. Prices are a bit high (as expected in such a prestigious location), but the experience is totally worth it. You can also find restaurants offering delicious Italian cuisine perfect for a relaxing lunch after exploring the Duomo area. One tip: visit early morning or late evening to avoid the big crowds and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the gallery. At night, when the lights glow softly through the glass ceiling, it feels truly magical. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a must-see in Milan a symbol of Italian craftsmanship, style, and timeless beauty.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan is a stunning 19th-century shopping arcade, named after Italy’s first king and designed by Giuseppe Mengoni. Opened in 1877, it’s Italy’s oldest active mall and a masterpiece of iron-and-glass architecture. Visiting with my family was a joy—we captured countless photos and videos of its elegant mosaics, soaring dome, and vibrant atmosphere. The Galleria connects Piazza del Duomo to Teatro alla Scala and hosts luxury brands like Prada, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Rolex. It’s not just a shopping destination, but a cultural landmark where history, fashion, and architecture blend into an unforgettable Milanese experience.
Dr. H — Google review
Major landmark of Milan. It has been Italy's oldest shopping arcade. It is in the form of a four-story double arcade. It houses some of the oldest shops of Italy and of course very popular modern ones as well. Since it is an excellent shopping arcade there is always a big crowd around. The vast open square in front is quite good for resting and photos.
Dr G — Google review
It’s much smaller than I expected from the photos and what I imagined before coming — located right next to the Duomo. It’s one of Milan’s notable landmarks, but honestly, I didn’t find it that impressive. Still, it’s something you end up visiting since you’re already in Milan. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really meet my expectations and was less impressive than I hoped.

Teatro alla Scala, also known as La Scala, is an opulent 18th-century theater renowned for its Italian opera and ballet performances. The theater features a museum showcasing its rich history through exhibitions of costumes, musical instruments, photographs, and set designs. Additionally, the Livia Simoni Library houses an extensive collection of 150,000 volumes of librettos, scores, and periodicals.
A must-visit when in Milan, but plan ahead. We went during the August shut-down, so there wasn’t much to see apart from the tour. Still, the tour was interesting and included a visit to the theatre boxes, plus entry to the attached museum. Definitely book tours in advance, and if you can, time your visit outside of August so you get the full experience of seeing an opera.

What an exceptional experience. Once in a life time for me! as an Asian person, it was great to attend opera. Reminder to be aware of dress code as Italian dress really proper for opera!!! Good thing is there’s subtitle in English for the opera . Staff is helpful. Nice bar during the break too, good champagne.

A beautiful place, full of charm and history. The architecture, colors, and overall atmosphere are stunning, it truly feels like a grand theatre. The stage is massive, and the chandelier is absolutely gorgeous. The foyer is spacious and elegant, with mirrors that add to its classic feel. The museum is also worth exploring, filled with fascinating objects and paintings. Definitely a must-visit in Milan.
Dragos M — Google review
Went to see the ballet productions Études, Petite Mort, Boléro with the Ballet Company of the Teatro alla Scala and the Orchestra of the Academy of La Scala Theatre and it was epic. The orchestra and conductors were brilliant but the dancers were the stars especially the Boléro, she was amazing and the piece was spectacular. No idea how she spend 20+ mins like that but I'd watch it again any day. Only problem is for a 6 foot plus person the seats in the balcony are real tight, almost makes Ryan Air look a little comfy. Was fanatic to see so many kids at the ballet, smiling, laughing and enjoying it. We need more of this in Ireland
Joe M — Google review
The museum is very interesting. The building is beautiful and there is a lot to see. It is really nice that you have the chance to look into the stage and watch a current rehearsal. The ticket is 12 euro and the visit is totally worth it. We visited on a Tuesday morning and there were very few visitors so it was quite.
Kristina — Google review
Remember to book in good time in advance as the tickets sell out fast! This legend is one of the top opera houses in the world. The foyer space is quite small compared to the big number of seats and it gets really crowded in the intermission. The bar is cramped so go to line first for a separate ticket to get the drinks, only then to the service area so you get your purchase. We saw Verdi’s Rigoletto. The expectations were very high so we were a bit disappointed. The tenor had gotten sick and the replacing singer was not at the same level with other soloists that were stunning. We found the regie, set and clothing a bit outdated, even if the turning set worked well. The lighting was off and I guess with better lighting design the opera would have looked much better. Overall we were pleased with the evening.

Even just from the outside, La Scala is elegant and timeless. The neoclassical façade is beautifully preserved and radiates quiet grandeur. It’s one of those places where you instantly feel Milan’s connection to art and culture — worth a short stop even if you don’t go inside.

Fine dining restaurant
Located in the heart of Milan under the beautiful arcades of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Cracco is a chic restaurant known for its fine-dining menu featuring classic Milanese dishes with a modern twist. The interior exudes an aristocratic atmosphere with hand-painted and mosaic walls, Levanto marble details, and gold-painted wood, reminiscent of the 1920s.
Cracco restaurant deserves way more credit than the 3.8 google rating suggests! Thought I’ve grown out of fine dining but Cracco really surprised me from all aspects. Service was quick and attentive. The food was of high quality and creativity - I’m particularly impressed by the caramel Olivier salad sandwich. Bonus points on meeting Cracco himself on my way out.
Xue B — Google review
It is one of a kind dining experience. Service was no doubt exceptional. I enjoyed the sweetness from the starter. The risotto was very nice. A personal greetings by the chef was something I didn't expect on the night.
Lo K — Google review
We had dinner at Cracco and chose to sit upstairs, inside – the location is beautiful, with a very classic and peaceful ambiance. It’s an elegant setting, no doubt, and you can feel the prestige of the place, especially with its Michelin star. However, the food didn’t quite meet the expectations that come with that reputation. I ordered the lobster for two, which looked more impressive in the photo than it did on the plate. The taste was fine, but nothing that really stood out or made me want to come back. I skipped dessert because nothing on the menu really appealed to me, and the cheese selection was surprisingly small – just one thin slice of each type, which felt a bit underwhelming. Overall, it’s a nice spot if you’re looking for a quiet, refined atmosphere, but from a culinary perspective, I wouldn’t return for a second visit.
Georgiana R — Google review
The location truly speaks for itself: situated in the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, this spot exudes class and charm. While I didn’t come for lunch or dinner, I specifically stopped by for a classic breakfast – and it did not disappoint. The ambiance is elegant and timeless, with décor that perfectly complements the grandeur of the Galleria. Service was friendly and professional, striking a nice balance between attentive and relaxed. What stood out most was the quality of the coffee and the freshness of the brioche. The flavors were simple yet authentic – no unnecessary frills. What pleasantly surprised me were the prices. Compared to similar establishments in other major cities, both in Italy and abroad, this is a very affordable choice for a refined breakfast experience. In short: this is more than just a place to eat or drink – it’s somewhere to pause, appreciate your surroundings, and enjoy the quality of something simple done well. Perfect for a calm start to the day or a quick break while exploring Milan.

We have the Italian breakfast which included the smashed scrambled eggs with spinach. It was excellent. The filtered coffee was very good.. We were lucky to get a nice table at the Terrace. The car was on was also pretty good.

It’s in a very busy area, and I guess the hosts were a bit overwhelmed—they didn’t greet us very warmly. The waitstaff was fine, and the food wasn’t bad, but nothing really stood out. I wouldn’t recommend planning a visit just to eat there, but if you’re already passing through the gallery and need something to eat, it’s a decent option without having to leave.
Mike A — Google review
It was okay, it felt very awkward and impersonal customer service. The menu is misleading as we thought the food from the below cafe would be available and it was not clear. Staff are way to formal and difficult to relax with. The atmosphere is dull and boring. I would not recommend really. We also had a couple who came after us who were given menus before us which felt a bit odd.

Just had an expresso here waiting for my wife to shop around. Tastes ok and thanks the waitresses for allowing me to stay there for 30 minutes to wait. The menu looks decent too and the atmosphere is great. Obviously can have chats easily as it’s a quiet place. Good experience.

Pizza Takeout
Spontini is a must-visit for thick-crust pizza lovers in Milan. Their slices are known for their soft, greasy, and crunchy base, offering a different experience from Neapolitan or Roman styles. The triangular slices come in normal or large sizes with classic toppings like margherita, diavola, cooked ham, mushrooms, anchovies and capers. You can even add double mozzarella to your portion.
Very tasty. A more American-Italian hybrid take on pizza. Especially if you are familiar with pan pizza from many American pizza chains. It would make it better if they added a little more cheese after the toppings and/or toasted it after the toppings so it isn't just a cheese pizza with some cold toppings thrown on after. But overall, it was a good experience.

Top Italian Street Food Pizza! Every time you visit Milan, make sure to stop by Spontini for lunch or dinner — it’s a must. - The Doppia Pizza is simply one of the best pizzas you’ll ever have. - The Primavera Pizza is absolutely delicious. - The Funghi Pizza is a must-try. - The Lasagna is incredibly tasty and satisfying. Staff at the counter are friendly and the cashier speaks Italian, English, and Arabic. Service is super fast. There’s no formal dining area, just high tables with stools where you can enjoy your meal while standing.

Spontini has amazing pizza in Milano..! The taste is rich, cheesy, and really satisfying definitely worth trying if you’re in Milan. The only downside is the long lines, especially during busy hours. It can take a while to get your food. Also, the seating area is quite limited, so it might be hard to find a spot to sit and enjoy your pizza. Still, if you don’t mind waiting or grabbing your food to go, it’s a great place for a quick and tasty bite (:

The quality of their pizzas never change and the indulgent delicious taste never fails, so make sure you grap a bite whenever you are around the city with many branches dotted around the city center ... we were passing by and we ended up having it for dinner and it made the rest our night delightful. I always have their anchovies, which is out of this world, with a crispy bottom and a rich cheesy core this pizza is just unbeatable for the lovers of deep dish pizza.

Best pizza franchise on the planet man… Don’t go here if you want Dominoes or Pizza Hut, only disappointed with the lack of pineapple on pizza Eat your pizza with a fork and knife while standing up, yeah there’s no seats in this place 5/5 ⭐️

I loved the crust and the flavorful toppings of the pizza so much that I decided to try both the anchovy and the Margherita varieties. The anchovy pizza had perfectly salted, tender fish, while the Margherita was especially memorable with its fresh basil, ripe tomatoes, and melted mozzarella. The Margherita pizza was exceptional—highly recommend!

The pizza is really delicious, especially the Margherita 🍕 The tomato sauce is rich and flavorful, giving it a great taste. Highly recommended when visiting Italy — a wonderful experience and a must-try if you’re in Milan 🇮🇹 Just a note: the pizza style here is originally American, not Italian, but definitely worth trying!

Pizza restaurant
Berberè Pizzeria Colonne is a renowned pizzeria located in the picturesque Navigli area of Milan. It prides itself on using high-quality, seasonal ingredients to create both traditional and contemporary gourmet pizzas. The vibrant atmosphere of the restaurant, with its pop aesthetic and well-lit spaces, adds to the overall dining experience. Originating from Bologna, Berberè has expanded to several Italian cities and even has branches in London.
The Margherita pizza in this restaurant is truly delicious, authentic, and perfectly prepared. The staff is extremely professional and friendly, and the place is simply wonderful, with great attention to detail. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience real Italian cuisine. Five stars are not enough; this place deserves at least ten.

We ordered 3 different type pizza, service was perfect, although restaurant would close soon, they accepted us to inside and served. Pizzas were ok, not perfect but better than many others. Food quality/ Price performance is quite good.

Went twice over the past 2 weeks. The first time, I was alone. The second time, we had a group of 4. I had the vegan Marinara Pizza with mushrooms both times. The pizza is very good with a nice crunch to the crust. The rest of my party tried other pizzas and all loved them. The service was quick and the food didn't take long, either. I had the vegan (chocoloate) sorbet which was delicious 😋. Definitely recommend this place!

Nice little restaurant, pizza's weren't the best I had in Milan but were still good, staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was great in there. Pricing was very reasonable, probably the cheapest meal we had in Milan. My Irish wife loved that they did a potato pizza 😂

Terrible experience. On my last day in Milan, I wanted to enjoy a nice dinner with my friends, but this place completely ruined it. We ordered three pizzas and were told to wait for a table. When the food was ready, they handed us the pizzas in take-away boxes and refused to let us eat there, even though there were empty tables inside. They just said those were “reserved.” Extremely rude, unprofessional, and disappointing. Never coming back and do not recommend this place to anyone.

I Love Poke is a Japanese-Hawaiian fast food restaurant that has been popular in Milan for months. The fusion of Hawaii and Japan's flavors has caught on, and there are now several locations in the city. You can mix and match your ingredients with rice, meat or vegetables to create whatever you like. The restaurants are always busy at lunchtime, so be sure to go when you're hungry!

the food quality is BAD. i have not eaten a worse poke bowl ever. the rice is old & hard(from being old!), the shrimp has still gunk in it and it has NO flavor at all. i also found many insects in my food which made me lose my appetite! i do not recommend coming in here & i will not eat here again.

The food at this restaurant is acceptable, but the seating area is quite small. Unfortunately, hygiene standards are severely lacking. I witnessed a young female employee handling garbage, preparing food, and taking money from customers all without wearing gloves. This raises serious concerns about cleanliness and food safety.

Ordered the vegan poke bowl, scoops of ingredient could be more generous but it’s a a decent poke bowl. Vegan chicken they use was nice addiction of protein to the meal. Perfect for a quick grab and go.

Good place where you can eat healthy food, combine the ingredients you mostly like, pay a reasonable price. I chose brown rice, cucumber, ginger, avocado, edamame, tofu, wakamame seaweeds and teriyaki sauce. Being it mainly a take away place, there are obviuosly only two little tables outside the store. We were lucky enough to find three seats and I suppose it might become complicated to sit down. The girl serving us was kind and patient explaining how it works. Order online available.

Highly recommend this poke place. Super small location with maybe 8 stools inside to sit and finish your meal, or you can go across the street and enjoy it in the park :) My favorite is the salmon with brown rice, pineapple, mango, pomegranate, edamame, corn topped w sesame seeds 10 euro for regular and 13 euro for a large

For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with San Siro Stadium, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Leonardo's Last Supper Museum. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

San Siro Stadium, also known as the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, is the home ground for both A.C. Milan and Inter Milan. It is located in the Fiera neighborhood of Milan, which offers a relaxing suburban atmosphere while still being well-connected to the city. The stadium has a seating capacity of over 80,000 people, making it the largest stadium in Italy and one of the largest in Europe.
San Siro - Milan: An Unforgettable Experience What an amazing stadium! The atmosphere was electric — the sound of the fans was absolutely incredible and really added to the experience. Getting through the turnstiles was quick and easy, which made the entry process smooth. However, reaching Block 333 involved a very long walk up the spiral walkway, so be prepared for a bit of a climb if you’re sitting higher up. The game itself was fantastic, and at only £100 per ticket, it felt like great value for such a world-class event. I’d absolutely love to go back and catch another match in the future. Parking nearby was a bit of a hassle, though — not very well organized and cost €30, which felt a little steep. Taking the train might be a better option next time. Overall, a memorable experience and highly recommended for any football fan!

Absolutely fantastic experience! Iconic stadium with an unbelievable atmosphere. A definite must while in Milan. We purchased tickets easily through the main website for our family of 4. The stadium is easy to get to from the centre by metro and entry was well organised. We sat in section 322 for the first match of the Serie A season and tickets were really reasonably priced. We all absolutely loved it! An unforgettable experience, especially for our boys aged 11 and 9.

Visited stadium for the tour, turned out was self guided so you basically just get to wander around this famous old ground. There is a brilliant museum as well with loads of fantastic memrobelia. Jerseys , pennants etc. Was great to see but it could have been better.

We went to the Inter–Fiorentina match on Wednesday, October 29th, in very rainy weather. The entrance and access to the stadium were great, though, as with most stadiums, finding a car or taxi after the match was difficult, and transportation was heavily affected by the crowd. The atmosphere was one of the best in Europe, and the stadium itself is among the most iconic. In my opinion, it’s definitely a must-visit landmark in Milan.
Efe Z — Google review
Accompanied my husband with his ground hopping experience in Milan! Inter Milan v Cremonese 4-1 Inter won the game! The food trucks around the ground were great! Inside the stadium however the facilities were not so good. Toilets were tricky to get to, and there was only 4 female toilets on each level in each section (long lines at half time)! We didn’t try to get any refreshments in the ground as there was only one place opened that we saw. To get up to the seats there was a very long walk either up a huge amount of stairs or a big long walk around and around the towers to get to the top. Seats were a bit ‘snug’ and didn’t flip up, which made it tricky when someone was trying to get past in the line of chairs. On the way back down after the game, the stairs were very smelling of urine - not pleasant! Food trucks were still open after the game, and people were hanging around eating and drinking which was nice. Very easy to get the tram back into the main centre after the game.
Alexis L — Google review
Saw the stadium a few years ago on a open top tour bus going round Milan and seen it loads of times on TV and knew one day I had to visit for a game. Well finally I managed it, saw Inter v Fiorentina, Inter fans were amazing, did not stop singing from start to finish Much better than anything I have heard in the Premiership and I have been to most of the grounds. The San Siro is quite simply one of the most iconic stadiums in Europe if not the world. I was sat in the third tier close to the last row and the view was great. What look like towers in each corner are actually used by fans to get to the level they are sitting in. One minor point is that it takes an age to get out of the ground and onto the tube due to sheer numbers. My advice would be to walk to another tube station and go from there or stay in a hotel within walking distance.
Simon J — Google review
A must see for any soccer fan. It was really easy to get to and the atmosphere was incredible. Also, the roof covered all the seats on a rainy night. As an American visiting, a few things were different, you have to pay attention to which entrance you're entering. You'll then scan your ticket again to enter your section. Also, the tickets aren't released for sale until only 2-ish weeks beforehand. Just sign up for a notification from either the Inter or Milan website. Lastly, the railings are fairly high. So, you may want to make sure you're a few rows back to have a full view.

The City Life Shopping District is located on Tre Torre Square (Three Towers). You can get there by metro on the purple line M5. The station is called Tre Torre. A modern shopping complex, very stylishly designed. A large selection of boutiques. Prices are slightly lower than in the Fashion District in the center of Milan. The difference was especially obvious in the Sephora perfume shop. There is also a large food court with a selection of cafes and bars for every taste. Very good angles for photos against the backdrop of three skyscrapers.

When visiting Parco Sempione in Milan, be sure to explore the Arco della Pace, a neoclassical triumphal arch commissioned by Napoleon to commemorate his victories. This majestic structure is made of marble from the Swiss Alps and stands as the starting point of the road connecting Milan and Paris. Adorned with Corinthian columns and intricate reliefs depicting historical moments, it symbolizes peace and prosperity.
The Arco della Pace, or Arch of Peace, is a grand neoclassical monument in Milan. Its construction began in 1807 under Napoleon to celebrate his victories, but it was finished in 1838 by the Austrians. The arch was ultimately dedicated to the peace established after the Napoleonic Wars. Adorned with intricate reliefs and sculptures, it features a striking bronze chariot on top. Located at the end of a historic road, it beautifully links Parco Sempione with the city's lively center. This monument is a symbol of both a military past and a hopeful future.

Museum
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
Nestled within the historic Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Leonardo's Last Supper Museum showcases one of the most iconic masterpieces of the Renaissance. This stunning mural, created by Leonardo da Vinci in the late 15th century, adorns what was once a dining hall and continues to captivate visitors with its intricate details and profound storytelling. To experience this artistic marvel, it's essential to plan ahead as reservations are required and should ideally be made three months in advance.
The mural is heavily degraded but is still worth a visit if you have the time while in Milan. You must buy tickets on-line ahead and they sell out fast. Each group of about 25 people is let into the room for 15 minutes. It is a large room (former dining hall) so it doesn't feel crowded. You need to check-in at the ticket office. They will give you a listening device so you can hear your guide. You'll meet your guide at the entrance. You'll need to go through security scanner with a metal detector and your group will re-gather in a waiting hall. There are plaques about the building and mural. Once inside you'll be able to walk around while the guide tells you about the mural, it's history, and preservation. After you leave the guide you'll enter a garden where the guide tells you more about the building and history of the area. In the garden are additional displays about the history.

Seeing The Last Supper at the Monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie was truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment for me. No photo or book could ever prepare you for the feeling of standing in front of Leonardo’s masterpiece. The atmosphere is quiet and almost sacred—you can sense the history in the room. I felt completely in awe, almost like time had stopped, just taking in the details and the emotion on each Apostles faces. It was absolutely worth the wait and all the planning. If you’re dreaming of seeing it, please do yourself a favor and book well in advance—tickets sell out quickly and you can’t just walk in on the day. This experience is something I’ll carry with me forever.

Visiting the Last Supper Museum in Milan requires significant advance planning, as there are no ticket sales on site. All tickets must be purchased online, and securing them is widely regarded as one of the most challenging museum bookings in Europe. Tickets are released only four times per year. For instance, tickets for the period from 1 November through 31 January become available on 30 September of that year. In addition, the museum releases a very small number of supplementary tickets every Wednesday at 12:00 PM (Milan time) for dates within the following couple of weeks. As a result, obtaining tickets often requires planning months in advance and checking the booking system diligently each Wednesday. It is, without exaggeration, a rather daunting and time-consuming process. Fortunately, we managed to secure a morning time slot during the week we were visiting Milan. Visitors must arrive at the gate 15 minutes before the scheduled entry time. The visit itself is strictly timed: you are allowed only 15 minutes inside the refectory to view Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. While brief, the controlled environment helps preserve the fragile mural and ensures a quiet, intimate viewing experience. Despite the effort required to obtain tickets, the experience is unequivocally worth it. The painting is breathtaking; even after centuries of deterioration, restoration, and careful preservation, the mastery of Leonardo’s technique remains evident. The composition, the expressions, and the sheer presence of the work are awe inspiring and offer a profound connection to one of the greatest masterpieces in art history. A visit to the Last Supper is unquestionably worth the logistical challenge. It stands as one of Milan’s most extraordinary cultural treasures.

The painting is housed in the refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie ⛪ and seeing it in person is breathtaking. Entry is strictly timed ⏰, with only small groups allowed inside for about 15 minutes, which helps preserve the fresco. Tickets 🎟️ must be booked well in advance as they sell out quickly. A once-in-a-lifetime experience and an absolute must when visiting Milan. 🙌

I brought thru Musement on line tour of the Last Supper around £62 ( Sept 2025 prices). Tour lasts approx 1 hour and you have only 15 mins to see the picture once you are in the room. It was well worth it as our guide told us everything about the painting. I met him with others outside for the 11:30 tour and was told about Leonardo and how busy he was, and hence how long he took to paint the picture. A classic masterpiece that you have to see as the colours are beginning to slight fade. There is a cafe outside opposite the church Danta Maria Delle. Grazie

Great historic bar setting to enjoy a quick bite while near the Castello Sforzesco. Don’t expect anything too fancy - but their sandwiches and drinks are tasty, unpretentious and affordable. We ordered a piadina and a panino with an Aperol spritz and a Rabarbaro Zucca for lunch, followed by cafe with a slice of panettone. The space is everything you’d expect from a 1900s bar, including the original wooden bar and decor. Service is good and they’re quick. Avoid sitting near the speakers unless you’re super into loud music, but otherwise there are quieter sections.

Stuffed focaccia was delicious. Was a nice respite from the almost 100 degree weather. We needed somewhere to get some water. 16 euro for two waters, sprite and split a large sandwich with my daughter. I thought it was a decent price. And just what we needed to continue on our journey.

Wish I had followed my gut and left immediately, I'm sure if you are Italian or Italian speaking this is a great place to stop for a snack. Waited 20 minutes and still were not served. I went in side and said I was happy to order inside. They insisted I wait to be served but then never came out. 3 other couples experienced the same thing. We got up and walked away.

We stopped here for some lunch and to escape the heat. Inside is nicely decorated, and less than half full. As tourists I'm not sure of the protocol, but it felt like we had to wait forever to get any service. I finally went to the bar, and then the entrance area, to see if we needed to order somewhere or if someone would come to us. I was told a server would come to us, and shortly after we were taken care of. I don't have any food pics, but those that got the cheeseburgers raved about how good they were. So other than the slow start, this is a place I would recommend.

They only have take away, so be prepared to stand, but if you are lucky you might find a free spot in one of the benches along the street. They also make a Chinese crepe with meat filling that you probably will have tried already if you have been to china before! Lastly, you can also buy raw ravioli to cook at home!

I tried the dumplings and ravioli, and they were absolutely delicious served hot and perfectly complemented by the soy sauce. The flavors were rich and satisfying. I definitely recommend giving them a try! The staff were also very kind and welcoming, which made me feel satisfied with the service.

I've been here before and I just feel like the dumplings have changed. The service is still super quick and the people are so nice. However the dumplings themselves weren't great, the meat (beef) was extra chewy as if undercooked, and there wasn't really anything special about them. I am sad to write this review as we used to really like this place.

Ordered through Glovo — hands down the best dumpling place in Milan! The dumplings were fresh, flavorful, and arrived perfectly packed. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. If you’re craving authentic dumplings in Milan, this spot is a must-try!

Actually was pretty authentic and delicious (wasn’t expecting that in Milan). Really enjoyed my meal and the hometown tianjin cooking. The 凉皮 and 煎饼果子were particular standouts. Will certainly be back next time I return to Milan. What a pleasant surprise to have this as an option when I need a change from the Italian food!

There is a store adjacent to it where you can seat to eat the dumplings . The Gong Bao claypot rice is horrible. Rice is soggy (meant to be dry), and sour. Tastes like they went ham with the black vinegar. Not exaggerating to say it’s the worse claypot rice I’ve had in my life Good mind to chuck the entire pot away

We came here after reading the reviews and photos but we were very disappointed. Normally we like Chinese cuisine but this place was definitely far from the Chinese cuisine we liked. You will understand when you look at the latest reviews. They also failed in terms of hygiene.
Yuksel H — Google review
The dumplings were quite large and the wrapping is pasta. Pretty much billed. It was super fast to receive our pork and steak dumplings after we ordered. You can choose if you want soy sauce or spicy sauce, or both. The spicy sauce really added great depth. If you order more than one thing, it’s challenging to eat it without sitting on the ground. There were only two high tops in the vicinity and they were occupied.

Lombardian restaurant
Italian restaurant
Al Matarel is a charming family-run restaurant located in the heart of Brera, Milan. Despite its unassuming exterior, this longstanding eatery offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with traditional Milanese decor. The menu features well-executed traditional Milanese dishes, with a focus on delicate stuffed tortellini and top-of-the-line osso buco. Known for its authentic and non-stereotypical Italian food, Al Matarel is popular among locals but often overlooked by tourists.
The food is just amazing, tradicional Milanese food as good it can be. This restaurant was recommended, and we wanted to try some authentic Milanese food. We started with the thick cut of salame (tollone di salame della casa), it was so soft that you could spread on the bread. Then we has the polenta with Gorgonzola (Tortino bollente di Gorgonzola). Thus thing... it is amazing!! The piping hot dish creates a crust where the polenta and the Gorgonzola fuses together making that one of the best dishes of my life. For mains, I've ordered the ossobuco (Ossobuco in gremolada con risotto) the risotto was everything right. Creamy, al dente, tasty. The ossobuco was perfect, could cut with a spoon, the bone marrow could be accessed by a special spoon. The juice of the cooking was pure collagen. Just perfect. My wife had the tortellini with pumpkin, was very light and very well balanced flavours. The portions were massive, we stopped before the dessert.

They managed to fit my booking in very last minute. Food was great! I think prices are very fair. We had risotto and Milanese cutlet. My mum looooved the risotto, I looooved the cutlet- was made to perfection! Gorgonzola and polenta starter was a highlight!!! Atmosphere was wonderful, very athletic and welcoming place. I would definitely go back.

This is the best place for traditional Italian food in Milano. It’s a family restaurant opened in 1962 and still run by the family with Mrs Elide on top of the restaurant to make sure that everything is prepared well in the kitchen and guests are very well served and look after properly.ravioli selections was delicious and tiramisu also tasted so good plus recommended Prosecco,my friend had it dish from polenta which is very characteristic of the cuisine of the Milano region, definitely will be back sometime next year.

I had read reviews so decided to find this place to try and so glad we did. It’s a little out of the way but so worth it. Traditional Italian food which was so good. Of course we had the risotto and the veal cutlet which was perfecto! House red was delicious and service was excellent. We did not have a reservation but they found us a table when it opened but it quickly filled up with locals so if your keen I would try and reserve a table especially if you have more than 2 people. Everyone seemed to be ordering the osso bucco so that was very popular. Highly recommend.

Coming here to eat felt like dying and going straight to heaven! I was looking for a cozy restaurant that locals go to and found this place located not far from Arco della Pace. After checking out the reviews I knew I was going to get their famous veal with risotto and some red wine and OMG it was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend this place!

Everything was superb! The staff were really nice and the food was authentic. Thank you for a wonderful evening and delicious dinner!
Maxine — Google review
This is a small cozy, formal dining style restaurant. The staffs didn’t speak much English, so it’s a little bit hard to request what you wanted. The menu has a lot of different interesting options that you can’t find anywhere in regular Italian restaurants. The food was decent and overpriced. The pork cutlet was undercooked. Everything was way overpriced plus the service charge €4/ person. The English soup dessert was really good and I would recommend that. The server was really nice.

A perfect trattoria in the centre of Milan. Delicious Milanese cuisine cooked by noona. The food was absolutely delicious with fresh ingredients. Multiple dishes were sampled including tortellini with pumpkin (absolutely light, perfect seasoning), monzese risotto with sausage, tagliatelle with wild boar, Milanese classic cutlet and multiple deserts. Each dish was perfect curated. The restaurant was cosy, well lit, very busy but service was efficient. One must definitely try this place if you are in Milan!

My partner and I were looking for a nearby bar and we heard Bicchierrino had just opened recently, we called and booked a place for a bar and dinner, the lady gave us a place at the bar which was comfortable, i would've given 5 stars for food if the menu was bigger but it's understandable we ordered the Veggie toast and Feta, both were incredible, the staff was very friendly and they kept making sure everything was as we liked, the atmosphere is very cool and a great place to meet up with a group of friends and have bottle of wine perhaps. Very much recommended.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Sforzesco Castle. Not quite as popular as Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Sforzesco Castle, one of the largest castles in Europe, is a magnificent medieval-Renaissance fortress that stands as a historic symbol of Milan. Built between the 14th and 15th centuries for defensive purposes, it now houses various museums showcasing significant artworks by renowned artists such as da Vinci and Michelangelo.
Beautiful place and free to explore. Walk through. I think you need a ticket for different parts and if you want a guided tour. I explored on my own which was completely fine for me. There are lots of maps and historic plaques in both Italian and English, which were both informative and interesting to digest. Good place to visit!
Sporadic T — Google review
Sforzesco Castle in Milan is an absolute must-see for anyone visiting the city. This massive fortress, once home to the powerful Sforza family, feels like stepping back into Milan’s Renaissance past. The architecture is stunning grand courtyards, towers, and red brick walls that still carry a sense of history and power. Inside, the castle houses several museums and art collections, including masterpieces by Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, making it much more than just a historical site. We were, however, quite disappointed to find that the Leonardo room was closed for renovation during our visit, as it’s one of the highlights of the collection and something we had really looked forward to seeing. Still, the rest of the museum and the castle grounds are beautiful, and you can easily spend a few hours exploring or simply wandering through the courtyards before heading to nearby Parco Sempione for a peaceful walk. Overall, it’s a wonderful place where Milan’s history, art, and elegance come together just be sure to book your tickets in advance since the queues are pretty long during weekends and holidays especially.

Beautiful and impressive place! You can explore the castle grounds for free, and it’s really nice to walk around. If you want to visit the museums inside, you need to buy a ticket. There’s also a big park behind the castle where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere. A must-see when in Milan!

The Castello Sforzesco is a magnificent symbol of Milan, originally built by the Visconti and transformed by the Sforza family during the Renaissance. It offers a spectacular mix of commanding military architecture and refined artistic treasures. The sheer size of the castle and its vast courtyards, like the Cortile delle Armi, are impressive and free to explore, providing a dramatic step back in time. The castle is a vital cultural hub, housing several Civic Museums with world-class exhibits. The most essential highlights are: • Michelangelo's Pietà Rondanini, his profoundly moving final sculpture. • The Sala delle Asse, a unique trompe-l'œil fresco painted by Leonardo da Vinci. Stepping out from the castle’s rear, you enter the expansive Parco Sempione. This beautiful green space is the perfect place to relax after exploring the museums, offering plenty of spots to sit down, enjoy an ice cream or food, and unwind by the water or while strolling toward the Arco della Pace. The Castello Sforzesco is a complete package of history, high art, and leisure, making it a must-visit Milanese landmark.

Chose the free option so could only walk around the grounds but still a very impressive building. I believe a lot of the rooms are little museums and exhibitions. Definitely worth a visit whether you pay or not. Dates back to the 15th Century I think. Lovely fountain in front one of the entrances.
Simon J — Google review
Really great walk even if you don’t visit the castle itself. Lots of different areas, I liked the fountain and the park the most as was a good walk in the Milan weather. It does get very busy though so watch out for any pickpockets but besides that great attraction to see.
G — Google review
Our family recently visited Sforza Castle (Castello Sforzesco) in Milan, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. The castle is an impressive landmark that gives you a real sense of Milan’s history and culture. Built in the 15th century by the Sforza family, it still stands tall and well-preserved, surrounded by large courtyards, towers, and beautiful red-brick walls. We entered through the main gate and were immediately struck by how vast the place is. The atmosphere feels calm despite being in the middle of a busy city. You can walk around freely, and many areas are open to the public without any entry fee, which makes it great for families. The inner courtyards are perfect for children to explore safely, with plenty of open space to run around. Inside, the castle houses several museums and art collections. We started with the Museo d'Arte Antica, which displays sculptures, weapons, and furnishings from the Renaissance period. The Michelangelo’s unfinished Pietà Rondanini, located in a quiet section of the museum, is breathtaking and worth spending time to appreciate. Even if you are not an art expert, it’s a powerful piece to see up close. We also enjoyed the Pinacoteca, which holds paintings from Italian masters such as Mantegna, Bellini, and Canaletto. The rooms are well laid out, and the descriptions are clear in both Italian and English. Our son found the Archaeological Museum interesting, especially the Egyptian section with mummies and ancient artefacts. The staff at the ticket counter were helpful and provided a map that made it easy to plan which areas to visit first. The castle grounds are just as impressive as the exhibits. The large open spaces and brick courtyards make for great photo spots. Walking along the walls and through the arched passages gives you a real sense of the castle’s scale and history. The Torre del Filarete, the main tower, stands out beautifully against the skyline, and you can see it from various parts of the city. After exploring the museums, we took a leisurely walk through Parco Sempione, which sits directly behind the castle. It’s a peaceful green space with fountains, sculptures, and shaded paths. You can see the Arco della Pace (Arch of Peace) in the distance, adding to the scenic view. We stopped for gelato at a small kiosk and sat by the pond watching ducks, which was a lovely way to relax after walking through the castle. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, so it’s easy to combine your visit with lunch or coffee. The location is very convenient, within walking distance from the Cairoli metro station, and also close to Via Dante, a lively street filled with shops and eateries. We spent about three hours in total, though you could easily spend longer if you want to visit every museum in detail. For families, it offers a good mix of culture, history, and open-air space, so it never feels tiring or overwhelming. The castle grounds are stroller-friendly, and there are benches throughout for short breaks. One small tip: buy your tickets online in advance if you plan to visit on a weekend, as it can get busy. Entry to the courtyards is free, but the museums require a ticket. Prices are reasonable, and there are discounts for children and families. Our overall experience at Sforza Castle was excellent. It’s a perfect place for families who want to learn about Milan’s history in an engaging way. The combination of grand architecture, well-curated museums, and peaceful surroundings makes it one of the must-visit attractions in the city. Whether you are interested in art, history, or simply want a relaxing day outdoors, Sforza Castle offers all of that in one visit. Highly recommended for anyone travelling to Milan with family.

Parco Sempione is a must-visit location in Milan, known for its beautiful landscaping by Emilio Alemagna. This park offers a perfect blend of outdoor activities such as walking trails, running paths, and dog-friendly areas. It also features historic architecture like the triumphal Arco della Pace and the romantic Ponte delle Sirenette with statues of little mermaids.
As you stroll through, you eventually reach the other side where the Arch of Triumph awaits. It’s quite a walk, so make sure to bring water especially on hot days! The park is spotlessly clean, with beautiful green spaces, ponds with ducks, a small bridge, and even outdoor gym equipment. It’s an absolutely lovely place for a refreshing and enjoyable walk. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway in nature 🌳🌿🌱

Claiming the Milan’s equivalent of NY Central Park, it is huge and a lot people. And maybe better located, nearby Sforza castle is also one of Milan’s famous attractions, and so is the Arco Della Pace (Arch of Peace). It’s worth the walk around to see and feel Milan’s local atmosphere.

A magical place, especially in autumn. The trees dressed in warm colors look like something out of a dream, and there’s a pleasant, floral scent in the air. Walking through the park feels like stepping into a fairytale, peaceful, beautiful, and full of charm.

A very nice and large park area behind the Castle. Lots of greenery all around. We saw lot of people with dogs here for a walk. Nice place to get some good quality air and freshness. While there is nothing much to see here, it is just a good place to walk around.

The park is quite nice, big, with a lot of nice picnic spots. You can see ducklings, turtles, even fish in a pond. A few coffee shops inside offer a pleasant break in nature in the heart of Milan. What spoils the moment a little are dirt trails where bicycles raise a lot of dust. Overall, very nice place to visit and relax

Very nice park. I enjoyed that there were no queues or entry fees to access the outside of the castle. It was nice and cool inside so it was a good free shelter from the sun. The benches in the park are also comfortable. The castle has free to use toilets, although they were not the easiest to find and just happened to stumble across them.

Discover the wonders of aquatic flora and fauna from around the world at Acquario Civico e Stazione Idrobiologica di Milano. This family-friendly attraction offers a unique experience, with a marine biology library and a transparent gallery that immerses visitors in an underwater world filled with colorful fish of all shapes and sizes. Children will be captivated by the diverse marine life on display, while also having the opportunity to explore a beautiful winter garden.
I really enjoyed all the fish and anemome that were part of the exhibit. I think the stingrays might have been my favourites but each fish was special in its own way. I recommend going, especially if you have children. The exhibit isn't that big so depending on you interest, the visit can take you anywhere from 40 minutes to an 1h and a half.

🐠🪸🪼 A cute little aquarium! Good for all ages, including families with small children. The prawn tank, tropical fish area and tiny jellyfish were my favourites. The toads were also fun to see. The Spirografo (Mediterranean Fanworm) and anemones were really interesting to see up close. I think the shrimp tank also had a small hermit crab inside. Some more species I saw: trout, ray, eels, starfish, minnows, octopus, red scorpionfish, butterflyfish, angelfish, triggerfish, sponges, coral. And plenty more! (I think seahorses and terrapins/turtles would be a great addition too.) There are koi/carp in the hippo fountain outside. There are antique-style displays of shells which are nice to learn the names of. Assuming you turn left when you first enter, there is an underwater tunnel area at the end of your visit, where it's nice to watch the fish swimming overhead. There is also a vibrant photo exhibition near the entrance. It's about the world of fishing in places including Sicily, Ghana, and Tunisia. There's a video about it too. I'd recommend allowing 60-90 minutes for your visit. It's free to visit on the first Sunday of every month. The outside is really beautiful even if a little worn from age. The garden area has a pretty variety of wildflowers growing happily there. There are toilets available. Constructive criticism: Overall the aquarium needs a little upkeep as some areas are a bit shabby from age and use, but it is still a very nice spot to visit if you like aquatic life. A small shop area (with e.g. postcards, keyrings, magnets, stickers, books, natural jewellery, etc) would be a nice addition. Other aquariums I've visited have had such shop areas and they're fun. A small cafe could also work well, to sit in and be refreshed after your visit. Maybe downstairs and/or outside? Some tanks seem to me like they might be a little small or sparse for their inhabitants, such as the turbot - it would probably be nicer to have more swimming space available. I would give closer to five stars for my own experience but I think four stars is the fairest score overall. The staff members were friendly and helpful. Worth a visit! 🐟🐚🦐

Kita T — Google review
Listen, I'm a person who loves aquariums. I would cross countries just to visit one. They are usually the highlights of my trip because I'm passionate about water in general. Having said that, I have to admit this is the most disappointing aquarium I've ever been to. It's not only that it's small (that's not an issue usually), but it's the fact that it feels so empty and outdated. According to the information there, it was a big deal when it opened a long, LONG time ago and while I can respect that it's still standing (and it's a good place to bring kids), it just feels mundane. Also, sure, you have to be realistic and know that people will not come to Milan for an aquarium, as there's a million different things to see and visit, so you can't expect it to stand above things like the Duomo, but that doesn't take the fact that it's as plain and dull as it can be. Go at your own risk. There's a high chance that you'll be dissapointed.

Church
Nestled in the heart of Milan, the Chiesa di San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore is a stunning 16th-century church that once served as a monastery. Often referred to as the Sistine Chapel of Milan, this hidden gem boasts an array of vibrant frescoes by Bernardino Luini, a contemporary of Leonardo Da Vinci. The church features an expansive nave divided into two sections: one for the congregation and another for the nuns' choir.
Absolutely must see. Hidden away gem. One of only two churches in Milan where every corner in the monastery is covered in stunning hand paintings. Some great history behind the cut icons from when the church was used as a shelter for Napoleon army during the war. Must visit and spend some time to appreciate the stunning paintings.

Chiesa di San Maurizio sits right beside Milan's Archaeological Museum. Of the many frescos in the church that of Noah's Ark stands out for its originality. I do no think I have ever seen the seen of the animals boarding in pairs anywhere before. A this is not the only unique feature (at least to me), the church is divided with the clergy section in the front half of the church and the nun section in the rear half. Dividing the two is a wall, open to the front by a grating that allowed the nuns to hear the mass. Both halves are beautifully decorated with frescos.

Located at Corso Magenta, 15, 20123 Milan MI, Italy 🇮🇹. This chapel is quite underrated because it doesn’t look as eye catching as the famous Milano Duomo. Once I walked inside though, I was struck by the sheer beauty of it. Everything in San Maurizio has colour, whether it’s paintings, mosaics or gold glitters everywhere. Nothing is uncovered by some form of colour including the pillars, ceilings and walls. The church is nicknamed the ‘Sistine Chapel’ of Milan. The church is located at what used to be the most important convent for women in Milan. The construction of this church took about fifteen years and took place in the sixteenth century. The building was split into two parts – one for the nuns and one for the faithful – and it was not until the end of the eighteenth century that this strict barrier disappeared. The church is not very big, but it’s definitely worth visiting. There’s no admission fee and the staff are friendly and welcoming. I am so glad I visited San Maurizio. Thumbs up!!! 👍👍👍

Santa Maria delle Grazie is a stunning Renaissance church located in the historic center of Milan. It features an elaborate Gothic interior and is renowned for being the home of Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, The Last Supper. This UNESCO World Heritage site attracts visitors from all over the world who come to admire this exceptional artwork. The church itself is a magnificent combination of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, making it a must-see attraction in Milan.
Book tickets well in advance — they sell out quickly. We ended up booking a combined Last Supper and Milan city tour, and it was a great choice. Having an expert guide gave us valuable commentary on the art, and the city tour added a local’s perspective that was both informative and engaging. If you can, plan the city tour for your first day in Milan — it’s a perfect introduction to the key sights and sounds of the city. Be ready to walk, so bring comfortable shoes. An unforgettable experience. The Last Supper itself was beautiful, though it was unexpectedly dimmer in real life. But nonetheless it was a moving experience.

We tried but did not succeed in getting entry tickets for the Last Supper, which is opened for limited entries and are on high demand. However, we just wanted to be close to the artwork on our visit to Milan, and took chance to visit during the early evening on an almost full moon day. We did get the opportunity to get into the basilica and we were thoroughly impressed by the ambience, the artwork and the prayer that was happening on that Sunday evening. We peeped through the railings to feel the presence of one of the greatest artwork in history just on the other side of the wall we were standing against. A surreal feeling I must say.

Seeing The Last Supper in person is an unforgettable experience! Though the tickets are highly sought after, the woman at the front desk allowed my husband also to attend a viewing after our struggle trying to book two tickets online for our visit to Italy. The visit is brief, but incredibly moving, standing before one of Leonardo Da Vinci’s greatest masterpieces feels (almost) sacred. The details, the emotion in each figure, and the sense of history in the room is breathtaking. Though the viewing time is limited, it’s absolutely worth it to witness such an iconic work of art up close. A must see in Milan, don’t miss it!

The visit into the church ⛪️ is open to the public. You can walk in if it's not full. They ask that you dress respectfully. To see the Last Supper, you should by tickets in advance and bring a valid ID that matches the name on the ticket. They are very strict about this. There are two paintings once inside. It's easy to the a clear picture of the second as soon as you get in since all gravitate to the Last Supper. Impressive to see in person. Guides are good. No parking that I saw. We took a taxi 🚕 to get there and to leave. It's history and it's worth seeing. Enjoy!

I love this beautiful church! It is famous for the Last Supper’s exhibit but the church itself with the little garden in the middle of the court yard is so peaceful and spiritual. I love the Church’s shop too. This church has a great vibe about it. The church is always open and free But the exhibit required tickets well in advance!

The Dominican basilica is world-famous for housing Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece The Last Supper (L’Ultima Cena) in its refectory. Construction began in 1463 under the patronage of Duke Ludovico Sforza and was completed around 1497. The complex combines Early Renaissance design with Bramante’s distinctive centralized plan. The initial structure was designed by Guiniforte Solari, while Donato Bramante later reworked the apse and dome. Bramante’s additions—especially the circular choir and lantern—are regarded as defining examples of early Italian Renaissance architecture, uniting classical harmony with spiritual geometry.

We don’t get to go inside as it’s all booked up till a month when we inquired . The old castle is fascinating and we checked out the garden located in the side the castle. Check online about the tickets to see the last supper painting before going so you get disappointed like us.

An old basillica but the real importance of this building is to host The Last Supper painting by Leonarda Da Vinci in the dining hall wall. Reservation is must prior to coming. Sometimes the tickets are sold out 3 months before the visit.

Ice cream shop
Gelato Fatto Con Amore is a small, popular shop known for its artisanal Italian-style ice cream in a wide variety of flavors, as well as cakes and ice pops. Visitors to Milan are encouraged to indulge in the city's renowned gelato, with Gelato Fatto Con Amore being one of the top destinations. The ice cream is highly praised for its incredible taste and extensive flavor selection. Customers appreciate the quick service and English menu availability.
I tried the popular pistachio flavor along with passion fruit, which was recommended based on my preferences. The staff were very friendly and responsive to my questions and requests. The flavors were absolutely amazing—rich, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. Highly recommended!

You know when the gelateria is very good when there is a line outside. The flavors were amazing the pistachio and chocolate were rich and creamy, the passion fruit with mint was very sour, asking for a vodka 🤣 and the mango was sweet and fresh. Would come back any time for more.
Bruges M — Google review
There are so many gelato places. I decided to with this one because of the reviews. Salted caramel is too salty. The almond gelato was good and creamy. If they asked do you want cookie on top. Yes, I do. The service was good. You paid first than order. I would order anything that crema. There are benches outside for sitting down.
Jay S — Google review
We went out of our path to see this place and it was worth it. The gelato was not as sweet as the other gelatos, which I do like because it doesn't mask the flavors. The one flavor I've seen here for the first time is the ginger one, which was very good and fresh. Recommended!
Florin B — Google review
The ice cream was absolutely delicious! You can really taste that it’s made from natural ingredients — rich, creamy, and full of flavor. I tried the pumpkin, persimmon, and salted caramel — just incredible! Every scoop was pure delight.

Brilliant ice cream. Probably the best I’ve ever had. I got 3x scoop (dark chocolate, coffee, cookie cream). Highly recommend!!!

Outstanding gelato at Gelato Fatto Con Amore. Two extraordinary scoops: dark chocolate & lemon and dark chocolate & pistachio. Definitely in my personal top 5 gelaterie.

The recommendations were justified. It was worth the walk to this place. The ice cream is really great. I tried the salted caramel and almond. I would come back to try the other flavors :)

La Libera is a popular homestyle restaurant located in the heart of Brera, Milan. Despite being known as a beer cellar with a kitchen, it offers excellent evening meals in a relaxed setting. The warm and cozy dining rooms are adorned with old-school posters and provide the perfect ambiance for a delightful dining experience.
The food was wonderful- in particular the pasta with calamari, zucchini and bottargna roe (pictured here.) The service was also incredible as it was crowded by our amazingly efficient waitress kept the whole room running perfectly and our food came out quickly and was delicious. It’s also a great deal and would cost twice as much in the US. If I’m back in Milan I’m definitely returning!

Authentic food and atmosphere. We sat outside, so keep in mind people next to you will most probably smoke and spaces between the tables are kept to a minimum. The main waiter was very accommodating and made the experience even better. We booked a table as it was Sunday evening, but if you eat earlier than locals there is no need for it.

Must must must visit! We came across here after searching for restaurants with the best tiramisu reviews - it did not disappoint! Atmosphere- honestly such a vibe, so beautifully decorated, very chilled out with outdoor seating available as well as indoor, and indoor is decorated beautifully. Great big mirror wall hiding the toilet which is a quirky way to design the place, as well as lots of wine bottles and art around. Service was fantastic, spoke great English, was very attentive with drinks and food recommendations and serving quite quickly over lunch too. Food - amazing. Simply amazing. Their sicilian pesto pasta was amazing, as well as their special porcini mushroom pasta, and their tiramisu is the perfeccttttt blend of cream & coffee without being super heavy. Definitely get one each because they get devoured. Would absolutely recommend anyone contemplating to visit, and to order the dessert!!

We really enjoyed this place. Honestly the atmosphere was a 10/10 and reminded me so much of my favorite restaurant back home. The staff was very accommodating and attentive to our table which I really appreciated. Incredible wine list with list of options to choose from. Now the food… I did enjoy the food but the highlight of our meal was the chocolate soufflé! The sea bass was a little overcooked and my husband’s steak was rare not medium rare and the sauce overpowered the steak but everything was really good.

We came with Milan local friend’s recommendation to experience local gourmet, first of all, we were served by a waitress who’s soooo friendly and hospitable. Cuisines are delicious and vibe is cozy and traditional. We enjoyed a lot an occasion, chatting with guests next tables with multi-languages and cultures. Unfortunately, I forgot to have a picture or contact with them. That would be the only regret and best memories of the night. And, interesting in chatting with restaurant people with Italian gesture: È così delizioso!

We had a great experience at La Libéra. The staff was friendly and welcoming. For starters, we shared a very good vitello tonnato, followed by the veal chop Milanese, which was excellent, and a special ravioli pasta that was also very tasty. To finish, the tiramisu was outstanding. We highly recommend this restaurant for both its food and service.

It was so fun to try the traditional dishes here. I tried the fiori di zucca, risotto salato, and for dessert the gelato al forno (which I'll be dreaming of)). It was truly delicious and the very kind waiter was happy to explain everything and give us some tips about the city itself. The atmosphere and furnishing was cozy, and very unique. Would highly recommend going here.

The atmosphere felt truly Italian, and the hosts, including Domenico, were incredibly kind and welcoming. It was such a memorable dining experience - we can’t recommend it highly enough! Just go!!

Gloria Osteria, a trendy restaurant that opened in December 2023, has quickly become a popular spot in the city. The interior boasts an eclectic and colorful design reminiscent of a 1960s club, with meticulous attention to detail by London-based Studio Kiki. Chef Manuel, originally from Naples, offers a menu featuring the freshest high-quality ingredients for an Italian culinary journey from north to south.
I had the pleasure of dining at Gloria Osteria Milano, and it was truly an outstanding experience. The atmosphere is warm and elegant, perfectly blending a modern Milanese touch with a cozy Italian charm. The menu is filled with authentic flavors, crafted with high-quality ingredients and great attention to detail. Every dish we tried was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable, making us feel right at home. It’s clear that they care about creating a memorable dining experience. If you are in Milan and looking for a place that combines excellent food, great service, and a wonderful ambiance, Gloria Osteria Milano is highly recommended. A must-visit!

Charming and welcoming spot. The cacio e pepe was delicious, though it could have used just a bit more sauce to make it perfect. The dessert selection was fantastic with plenty of variety and everything we tried was fresh and full of flavor. What really stood out was the staff which was incredibly polite, friendly and attentive.

The place is eclectic, vivid, with good food. The dishies are not groundbreaking but are very tasteful. We had Insalata di Fungi e Crescenza, Crocchette di Vitello Tonnato and Fazzoletti di Zucca. Insalata and Fazzoletti were great, Crocchette were a little basic. For dolci we luckily orderd just Souffle al Cioccolato, because it was huuge😅. We loved it. We enjoyed our dinner and are looking forward to coming back❤️

Very peculiar place, with a unique style. Very interesting spot to have dinner. The food was pretty good with strange but fine combinations. The service was amazing and efficient (even though one time the brought us still water instead of sparkling, but ofc it could happen). They were all kind and caring and very friendly. We enjoyed this service so much. The atmosphere is amazing, it seems to be teleported in another world.

The best birthday of my life! Simply amazing, first time in Milan and first time in this wonderful restaurant! We had a table for two during our reservation we asked to sit in the booths and the request was fulfilled! Wonderful food and amazing cocktails! The drinks menu is limited but we asked our waitress Martina for other classic cocktail options and she arranged! Everything amazing, wonderful food but the service of our waitress made a total difference in our night! We still had a free dessert for me the birthday boy, gratitude! I highly recommend it! The service fee is not included in the final bill so remember to add tips if you like the service.

Great design and vibe. The restaurant has 2 floors. We sat upstairs in a corner sofa. The burrata was delicious. The veal was thin but very juicy and the cacio a pepe was yummy. Interesting apple tart with great flavors.

A charming and delightful restaurant with attentive service. We started with the Crocchette di Vitello Tonnato, followed by the Pappardelle Ragù Bolognese and the Cacio e Quattro Pepi — both flavorful and beautifully presented. The cacio pasta was slightly firmer than expected, requiring a bit more bite, but overall, the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. We finished with the Tiramisu, which was the perfect sweet ending to a lovely meal.
Richard G — Google review
While parts of our meal were good our overall opinion of Gloria was that it disappointed. The veal croquettes with tuna sauce were dry and made me feel for the calf. Risotto Funghi was good but a few mushrooms along with the flavorful sauce would need appreciated. Desserts were outstanding in size and taste. The decor is special but much more so for downstairs tables. This is an upscale formulaic restaurant that suffers from that reality.

Trattoria Milanese

Lombardian restaurant
Italian restaurant
Trattoria Milanese is a charming restaurant located in Navigli, offering a traditional Lombardy dining experience. The beamed dining room exudes old-world ambience, setting the stage for hearty Italian cuisine. Unlike its southern counterparts, this trattoria favors meat and butter over tomatoes and olive oil. Signature dishes include risotto with osso buco and homemade desserts.
Trattoria Milanese is the kind of place you hope to stumble upon in a city like Milan—deeply rooted in tradition, and refreshingly unpretentious. From the moment we stepped in, it was clear this wasn’t just another tourist spot. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between old-world charm and refined elegance, making it ideal for both casual lunches and special dinners. What truly elevated our experience was the impeccable service. Our waiter was not only warm and attentive, but also incredibly knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu with genuine care. It felt like being hosted rather than simply served. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was flawless—beautifully prepared, generously portioned, and full of authentic Lombardian flavor. Whether it was a classic Milanese veal cutlet, or side dish artichokes everything hit the mark. Price-wise, Trattoria Milanese offered value, especially given the quality of food and service. It’s rare to find a restaurant that combines such authenticity, professionalism, and reasonable pricing in a city known for its tourist rip-offs. All in all, this was an outstanding dining experience—easily one of the highlights of our time in Milan. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a true taste of the city.
Nash G — Google review
An absolutely outstanding restaurant with an incredible waiter who looked after us exceptionally well. We handed over control of the menu to this trusted professional, and what followed was a feast to remember. Starters included thinly sliced veal with tuna mousse that was simply out of this world, alongside cooked artichoke and Parma ham served with big, juicy figs. Next came the pasta course, with four of us sharing two plates – one featuring the sweetness of pumpkin, the other cooked in a beautifully reduced veal broth. Both were exceptional. For mains, we enjoyed one of my personal favourites – veal escalope – as well as another veal dish cooked in a rich bone broth. Although we could hardly manage it, three desserts arrived: an excellent tiramisu, some ice cream with aa alcoholic sauce and a third dessert that was quite simply one of the best I’ve ever eaten – though I can’t remember exactly what it was. Suffice to say, you dipped slices of panettone into this indulgent dish and almost licked the pattern off the plate. We paired everything with some excellent Cretan wines – a clean and crisp white, a slightly chilled Pinot Noir, and a fantastic dessert wine. A truly magnificent experience. We will be back!

Nice atmosphere and good service from the wait staff. The food was good, had the risotto and veal cutlet. Located in a lane way so would be quite easy to miss. Only complaint would be the music player where we felt pressured to give money to.
Tommy T — Google review
I had the risotto alla Milanese and my daughter had the pasta with ragù. The restaurant had a local feel, but the food itself wasn’t particularly extraordinary in terms of taste. When I walked in, the staff didn’t seem very welcoming. The tiramisu was large and filling, a nice way to end the meal.

The wait staff was friendly and very encouraging with questions about the menu. The food was great, and the spot was recommended to us by locals for good reason. Make a reservation or get in line before opening.

What a wonderful restaurant! The atmosphere is absolutely charming — warm, cozy, and full of character. I can’t recommend this place enough!
Berna K — Google review
A great place to experience traditional Milanese food. The osso bucca was especially fantastic. The affagato was an incredible way to end the meal and pick up some energy for after lunch activities. It was the best ever. Good array of well priced local wines too. It is true that some of the staff is not particularly welcoming to those without a reservation or the whit to decode a very simple Italian menu, but I'm not sure that is all bad if it keeps out some of the more obnoxious tourists. Seemed to be mostly Italians when we visited.

Day 4

Proximity is everything
For day 4, we bundled attractions like Piazza Gae Aulenti and Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 7 hours.

Piazza Gae Aulenti is a modern square located in the contemporary area of Milan, near Porta Garibaldi. It is surrounded by tall skyscrapers and features stunning modern fountains that illuminate the night. Dedicated to the renowned female architect Gae Aulenti, this plaza was inaugurated in 2012 after her passing. The square hosts various events and local fairs, particularly during Christmas and Milan Fashion Week.
Very beautiful place to visit to see the modern architecture and life in Milan. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the details, also good shopping and a food court down stairs. Tip: if you like to experience a different part of milan and really want to buy some stuff in a less crowded area this is the place to go.

Vibrant, with shops, grocery store (Esselunga) and lots of people, this is a very nice area. I have been told that at night it's safe, as long as you don't use the passage that takes you to the metropolitana (that is the unsafe place to cross).
Mali L — Google review
Seen this place many times as I have been here since they constructed this place as a local, it has changed throughout the time. The place has become more forgotten in maintenance etc but still nice, it doesn't have the same charme as in the past, plus it has become a very dangerous place full of bad people that sell drugs and assault women. Be aware, do not come alone once it is dark or don't come here at all in the evening.

Very interesting To see the huge buildings. We had a lovely coffee at a little cafe in the piazza. Local car parking available also its accessed via an under tunnel entry point. We however didnt go to see the piazza we went off the side into the area where the other shops and restaurants were for a meal on a couple of occasions.

The city planning was impressive and the surperb architectural design of building provides a high quality of living standard as well as work live balance. But this venue lacks of toilet facilities for public access.
Gordon L — Google review
While it may lack the old-world charm of Brera or the soul of the Navigli, Piazza Gae Aulenti stands as a testament to Milan’s bold embrace of style and innovative architecture—a striking parenthesis of modern design in a city steeped in history and culture.
Luigi C — Google review
Opened in 2012, this modern urban square is named in honor of architect and designer Gae Aulenti. It was designed by the American firm Pelli Clarke & Partners, led by César Pelli, as the centerpiece of the Porta Nuova redevelopment project. Built atop a raised podium, the circular plaza features three synchronized fountains that combine light, music, and playful water effects. Some surrounding structures also incorporate solar panels and pocket fabric elements for environmental efficiency. Framing the square is Milan’s contemporary skyline, including Italy’s tallest building — the UniCredit Tower (231 m) — as well as Bosco Verticale and Torre Diamante.

Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio is a Romanesque church in Milan, Italy, known for its elegant courtyard and the crypt where the remains of St. Ambrose are displayed. Founded by St. Ambrose in 379 CE, it is considered one of the most ancient churches in Italy and a historically significant medieval building in Lombardy.
A truly breathtaking place — the Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio is a must-visit in Milan for history and architecture lovers. The atmosphere is peaceful and humbling, and the mosaics and frescoes are absolutely stunning. Every corner of this place tells a story, and you can really feel the layers of history all around you. There was no wait to enter, and the experience was calm and unhurried, which made it even more special. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates sacred art, Romanesque architecture, and places with deep spiritual and historical roots.

This is one of the most popular churches in Milan (after the Duomo and Santa Maria della Grazie), and for a good reason, as it is one of the oldest and beautiful churches in the city, also consecrated to its most beloved saint. The architecture we see is mostly of 11-12th centuries (or earlier) with minimal alterations. The most beautiful part of the church is the Oratory of San Vittore in Ciel d'Oro, with amazing 5th century mosaics and small adjasent museum (requires a small fee to enter). There is also 13th century mosaic in apse (although heavily restored), intricately carved Romanesque pulpit, and many other artistic miracles inside.

Magnificent. Most tourists come to Milan for the Last Supper. Please take some time to witness the simplicity of this Basilica. Peaceful, reflective, restorative.

The Basilica di Sant’Ambrogio is one of the most important historical sites in Milan and absolutely worth a visit. Built in the 4th century, it is one of the oldest churches in Italy and one of the first established in Milan when Christianity was newly spreading through the Roman Empire. You feel that history immediately when you walk into the courtyard and see the early Christian architecture that has survived for more than 1,600 years. The interior is solemn and beautifully preserved, with a mix of Romanesque and early Christian elements that give the basilica a very distinct character. The golden altar, the crypt of Saint Ambrose, and the mosaics are all highlights. Despite its importance, the basilica remains calm and not overly crowded, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. It is an essential stop for understanding Milan’s early history and the foundations of Christianity in the region.
Varto B — Google review
It is located near the metro station and well preserved. The mosaic behind the ciborium is splendid. Paintings are fabulous.
Percy C — Google review
One of the most important medieval churches in northern Italy, the basilica was originally founded between 379 and 386 by Sant’Ambrogio (Saint Ambrose) as the Basilica Martyrum, dedicated to early Christian martyrs. The current Romanesque structure was built between 1088 and 1099, with further additions including the left bell tower and later architectural enhancements. The basilica suffered damage during the 1943 bombings, particularly to its mosaics and ceiling, and was carefully restored in the 1950s. The complex features a beautiful quadriportico, the Monks’ Tower (9th century, left side), and the Singers’ Tower (12th century, right side). Near the entrance stands the Devil’s Column, a Roman column marked with two holes — said by legend to be the imprint of the devil’s horns after a failed attempt to tempt Saint Ambrose. Each December, the basilica hosts the traditional Oh Bej! Oh Bej! Christmas market, held for centuries during the feast of Saint Ambrose.

The Museo del Novecento is situated in the Palazzo dell'Arengario, a historic building in Piazza del Duomo, Milan. It was established to showcase and preserve 20th-century Italian art collections inherited by the city. The museum's goal is to promote cultural and artistic heritage from the 20th century, aiming to reach a wider audience. With a focus on Italian works, it offers comprehensive insights into this significant period of art history.
This art gallery is absolutely fantastic — the exhibitions are thoughtfully curated, and the atmosphere is inspiring. The only downside is that the air conditioning on most floors feels quite weak, especially during warmer days. The top floor near the piano area was pleasantly cool, but the lower levels could really use better ventilation.

Great experience! The museum is cured, the people are kind. Amazing view of the Duomo!!! Amazing collection of art, there is a little room all dedicated to Fontana.

Fantastic art space. The gallery impresses not only with the works of art, but also with the interior design of the space. The curators have done their job. You are transported through the different periods imperceptibly. There are signs and employees everywhere who explain where you should go so that you don't wander around the halls. From here there is one of the best views of the Duomo. The ticket price is impressive - €5, for what you will find inside.

Highly recommended to anyone interested in XX century italian art. The exhibition, largely created with donations and custodianships, presents notable art from the early century's Futurism and modernist movements up to graphical and conceptual art of the late nineties.

Beautiful museum that helps you to know more about the Italian art context of the 20th century. Also, the building is interesting and gives you an exeptional view of Duomo and the place in front of it, above the tourists' crowds. The entry price is surprisingly affordable compared to other museums and highlights of Milan, 5€ only. I highly recommend the place 😍

Museum of important works of art of the XXth century mostly Italian, in a beautiful building. Boccioni, Severini, Carra, Balla, Fontana, Picasso and other well known artists. It has a restaurant with interesting dishes on the 3rd floor to enjoy a cup of coffee or a delicious meal overlooking the Duomo

The best view for the square and the cathedral. The collection is impressive and organized very beautifully in the building. The price is also very attractive for low budget travellers.

Very nice museum, I don't know if admission is always free, but on Sundays I think it is. From the top floor there are incredible views of the cathedral. The elevator is only for workers

Art museum
Located in a stunning palazzo that once served as a Jesuit college and observatory, the Pinacoteca di Brera is a must-visit for art enthusiasts. This museum boasts an impressive collection of Italian paintings, with works by renowned artists such as Raphael, Tintoretto, and Mantegna. The palazzo's rich history adds to the allure of this cultural gem in Milan.
A beautiful display of late medieval and renaissance art. Caught a the GIORGIO ARMANI - Milano, per amore exhibit which runs to 11Jan26… wow! Now you have beautiful art and fashion! You can feel the excitement in the rooms. I suggest getting tickets for the time slot you want the morning or day before you go while the show is running.

The Pinacoteca di Brera is one of Milan’s true cultural treasures, a magnificent gallery filled with some of Italy’s most iconic masterpieces. The collection is extraordinary, with works by Raphael, Caravaggio, and Mantegna beautifully displayed in elegant, spacious rooms that let you really take in each painting. During our visit, there was an incredible temporary exhibition by Giorgio Armani, and it was absolutely fascinating. Seeing these stunning dresses and impeccably tailored suits displayed alongside centuries-old masterpieces created such an impressive juxtaposition, fashion and fine art in a dialogue that felt perfectly Milanese. It was inspiring to see how elegance and creativity transcend time and medium. The museum itself is a delight to explore, with a calm atmosphere and thoughtful curation. Whether you’re an art lover or simply looking for a refined experience in Milan, the Pinacoteca di Brera is not to be missed. It’s a place where history, style, and artistry meet beautifully.

Really lovely place, I've enjoyed it. They're currently also featuring a collection of pieces of Giorgio Armani. I recommend ordering tickets online. The museum only lets you in according to the time assigned on your ticket. When you get there, there are two ticket machines - if you choose to try those, they can make it seem like there are tickets available, but then show you a connection error. If that happens - pick the next time slot. Also, we ordered online, got a mail which we thought was a confirmation email, looked like a confirmation email - but told us our payment failed. So, check the email closely, if you're ordering online. We ended up waiting in the cafe upstairs for an hour - not too bad. Staff was very nice. There's also an elevator in the back. And bring a euro coin for the lockers - you'll have to put you stuff away. Good art, if you're with kids, you can play a game with them of finding all the dogs in the pictures - very fun.

This is one of Italy’s three most important art galleries, renowned for its exceptional collection of Renaissance and Baroque paintings, particularly from northern Italy. The museum occupies a former Jesuit college designed in the 14th century and later remodeled by Francesco Maria Richini in the Neoclassical style. Established in 1809 by order of Napoleon as the central art museum of the Kingdom of Italy, it followed the model of the Louvre in transforming religious and aristocratic collections into public heritage. Located in Milan’s Brera District—now filled with art schools, galleries, and design studios—it remains a vibrant center of artistic life.

The library right at the entrance was very beautiful. The gallery is full of Jesus paintings which are all quite similar. If you are into that it will be interesting, but otherwise there are better galleries in Milan. At the time we went there was an exhibition of Armani suits which were exquisite so that made it worth the visit. The price for youth is very affordable, 2e.
Una R — Google review
The place is nice, good prices for ages of 18-25. The audio guide is interesting and explains the artistic significance of the paintings. But, all the paintings are of the suffering of Jesus, which is depressing. I do not recommend going with children, and for adults above 26 I don’t think the price is worth the experience, the gallery is small and the collection is decent but not huge. The bathrooms are not well maintained.

One of the most important painting-art museums for the medieval and early modern Era periods in İtaly. Prior to visit, the most critical masterpieces should ve revewed for better understanding. The musuem hosts approximatelly 500 selected artworks. The exhibition is located in upper level floor of the building. There is also a museum cafe to take a rest with croissant-cappucino as well.

One of the hidden gems of Milano. The building itself is stunning and apart from the pinacoteca, it also houses the University of Belle Arts, a botanical garden and much more. In the pinacoteca, you can get lost for hours admiring the works the many famous italian artists.

Nestled in Milan's Brera district, the Brera Botanical Garden is a serene and picturesque oasis established in 1774. This hidden gem boasts flowerbeds, ponds, and an arboretum with centuries-old trees. The garden offers a peaceful setting for photography, with diverse plant collections providing a colorful backdrop. It's an ideal spot for intimate moments or a leisurely stroll amidst rare beauty and timeless atmosphere.
What a charming and lovely garden! It’s between the Pinacoteca di Brera and Palazzo Citterio. Finding a main entrance was a little tricky. It’s not a big garden but enough size to look around and enjoy. You can relax here if you want to have a quiet time from a bustling crowd in Milan.
June L — Google review
Excellent botanical garden in central Milan. Within walking distance of various attractions. Convenient location. Small but a very attractive place to spend some time. An hour tops is enough. A few places to sit and relax. Good range of plants in a compact space. Fragrant. Small water features. Free to enter. Surrounded more or less by buildings, which adds to the atmosphere.

Beautiful small garden with many diverse plants. you won't believe that you are in the middle of a bustling city. However, the entrance was a bit tricky to find.. The neighborhood is also very quaint and fun to explore or sit at a cafe and be around the very chic residents of Milan.

Nice quiet garden in Milan where you can go sit and relax for a bit, there are benches and chairs around. Free entry and there is an entrance/exit directly to a street so you don’t have to walk back through the building.

A peaceful oasis in the heart of Milan, the Brera Botanical Gardens offer a lovely escape from the city’s hustle. The garden is small but beautifully maintained, with a charming variety of plants and flowers. Some areas could use clearer signs, but overall it’s a relaxing and inspiring place to visit.

Giacomo Arengario is a bistro-style restaurant located at the top of Palazzo del Novecento, offering stunning views of Milan's Piazza and terrace. The restaurant pays homage to Art Deco design with its aristocratic furnishings, black lacquered entrance, mirrors, wooden walls, coffered ceilings, and a magnificent terrace overlooking the Duomo.
Stylish dining with a view – a wonderful experience at Giacomo Arengario Giacomo Arengario offers not only fantastic food but also an unforgettable setting. Located right by the Duomo, the view is absolutely breathtaking – the perfect backdrop for a special lunch or dinner. The food was excellent – fresh ingredients, beautifully plated, and full of flavor. A true reflection of refined Italian cuisine. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, with a touch of old-school charm. The service was attentive, professional, and very welcoming. Everything ran smoothly, and we felt truly looked after throughout the entire meal. Giacomo Arengario is a must-visit in Milan for anyone who appreciates great food, great service, and stunning views. Highly recommended!

Wonderful experience! We had a table at the balcony area overlooking the Milan cathedral and the cathedral Square. The Dorothy cocktail (martini base) is recommended. Excellent dishes. The risotto was very tasty. Each dish served beautifully This is a place for a special evening in Milan

We went here when we traveled to Italy for our honeymoon. My husband accidentally made a reservation for their sister restaurant down the street, thinking it was this restaurant. They were nice about it and we were able to still get a seat near the window. Everything I ate here I enjoyed greatly. I loved their Ohana drink and their risotto. My husband also enjoyed the pasta he ordered. We had great views of the Duomo, and it was very cool to see at night.

Great place for lunch with good views. Each person needs to order a main course as minimum. Good food, we love the Tortellini cacio e pepe, lobster ravioli, risotto alla milanese and steak. Great service from our waiter. They speak English for visitors who can't speak Italian. Price may be on the pricey side. But what do you expect from a restaurant by the Duomo?
Reynard W — Google review
Wonderful experience that made our Milan trip even more memorable. We booked a terrace table with a Duomo view and luckily got the last window seat with the view. Staff were very friendly and patient despite our limited Italian, and both managers made us feel welcome. Food exceeded expectations for a tourist spot — especially the beef tartare and pasta. Would love to return on a sunny day to enjoy the outdoor terrace!

All my stars go towards the beautiful view and restaurant set up they have at this place. It is difficult to find as it’s inside the museum, once you get there they don’t coat check they seat you right away, and you’re made to wait 10 minutes before being greeted by a waiter or waitress. My fine dining courses showed me this place values none of the customs a fancy upscale restaurant should hold. We had the terrace seating with Duomo view which was spectacular!! The surrounding area was gorgeous as well. However, restaurant doesn’t polish the glasses, they allow dogs that are clearly not health support animals at tables in their owners laps, while others are eating. The food options are close to what you’d see in France so all raw and fish, and the service is bad too, 10 minute wait for a greeting from waiter, 10 minutes wait for wine, 20 min wait for bread and somehow a 5 minute wait for our undercooked (far passed al dente) pasta.. It was obvious our waitress was extremely busy as she tended to all guests in the terrace herself. Which unfortunately leads to tables being under serviced, like ours. Wil go back, but I suggest for cocktails and starter plates only as prolonged service was not good. Totally worth the visit and the Duomo was in perfect view at night. Over $100 spent on 2 starters and 2 wines just fyi

Visit with two adults and a 5-year-old and 2-year-old child. It was a space where sunlight did not come in, so the outdoors was very cold even it was really shiny day, and the waiting time for food was very long. The truffle tartare was soso, the tomato pasta was too undercooked(it's not al dente, it's just undercooked) and didn't even sprinkle parmesan cheese. I ordered 120 euro per kg today's fish because they recommended, but their cooking skills are so poor that it tastes better to grill it at home. I ordered Sea Bass, but it came out without the skin. It seems they burned it so they had to remove the skin. They recommended ordering 2kg from a family of four with two young children, so I ordered only 1kg, but they forcibly gave & charged us 1.5kg worth 180 euros, and there were too much that they couldn't put it in one plate, so it came out in two plates. It was the worst that the fish bones were not even properly removed. Moreover we received later than other tables that came late. Lastly, mushroom and chips we've ordered was salty as hell, so I had to wash it on all over the plate to eat it. Actually we could not eat them because it's too salty. It is a place where food and service are severely low compared to price, and waiter was so much untrustful. Please don't listen to the recommendation, it's just a place for nice view. I don't review mostly but I paid 318 euro and ruined all day, Gracie!

Vegetarian restaurant
La Vecchia Latteria, located in the heart of Milan, is a cozy restaurant offering a variety of hearty vegetarian dishes such as macaroni with radicchio and gorgonzola, cauliflower fritters, and aubergine parmigiana. The restaurant has an informal and homely atmosphere with its tiny white-tiled interior, reminiscent of its former role as a dairy. It's popular for its mixed special that offers a generous taste of everything on the menu.
A legendary restaurant in the heart of Milan. It’s a small place run by the owner. A small menu with a specific offering focussed on homemade Italian cuisine. The food and its presentation are top notch. Service is fast despite only having one waitress. Mostly vegetarian dishes with few containing egg in it. Highly recommended.

The food is not especially bad. It was also not especially good. Sort of bland but filling. Given the amount of fresh veggies in the spring in Milano, having overcooked asparagus was a disappointment. Not a disaster. The almost surly and smile-less service convinced me that I never want to go there again. Might be a good choice for a vegan. But given the amount of choices in this city I know one can do better

Very small place but quite nice, I didn't have a reservation but the waitress was very nice and cleaned a table for me as I was by myself I didn't know what to order so I tried the "Misto Forno" with a mix of 4 dishes and it was really good for 18€ Honestly considering that it's a vegetarian restaurant in the very center of Milano the prices aren't too bad, and it was very tasteful and perfect portion for me

Mini vegetarian restaurant in central Milan. This small location has focused on the quality of the raw materials and the gluttony of the customers who are fascinated by what is on the menu: from appetizers to plateaus ... We have chosen a mixed grill and roast plateau with a good wine from Piedmont. The staff was very kind and helpful. Good the bottle of red wine we've choosed. A little pricey (check 3 stars for this) but it's worth it. We will be back 100%

Sciatt A' Porter is a restaurant in Valtellina serving delicious street food. What a lucky find for us. Totally family run and proud of what they do and what they do is serve delicious food and wine graciously and generously with charm and humor. We felt like part of the family and we loved everything we had. Highly recommended !

Nice atmodphere, but the food was a bit fatty for my taste. I had the Pizzoccheri and after half of it, i coulfn't eat. My other frend had Taroz(some mash potateos with cheese) which was delicous. We managed to order in english and a bit o Italian.

Great little place we stumbled across! The sciatt cheese balls are delicious, and the polenta our group split was TO DIE for! I've never had such a cheesy polenta with a fantastic cornmeal flavor, and it wasn't oily or greasy in the slightest! I had the ravioli as my main dish, and it was also fantastic. Very cheesy, spinachy, and nice soft, but firm ravioli. The only thing kind of disappointing was the dessert. The menu listed a homemade caramel, but really it was a flam with a caramel sauce, and I'm just not a big fan of flan in general. Absolutely would go back if possible!

Bentoteca is a chic restaurant in Milan that offers a unique fusion of Japanese and Italian cuisines. Run by Chef Yoji Tokuyoshi, who previously worked at Osteria Francescana, the restaurant presents a modern dining experience with its creative dishes. The menu features a blend of Japanese bento box-inspired meals and Italian ingredients, resulting in innovative offerings like sake-marinated pigeon and Wagyu Don.
One of the best places I’ve tried in Milan. The cuisine here is a mix of traditional Japanese cuisine and a modern cuisine by using great ingredients to create that umami taste. We were three people and we had many different dishes from the menu to share so had the opportunity to try many plates. Service was well organized and accurate, we had a great experience
涛 — Google review
Overrated and expensive for what it is. If you're a food connoisseur, this restaurant will likely disappoint. I’m genuinely confused by the 5-star reviews and its inclusion in the Michelin Guide. We came for an à la carte dinner and ordered several popular items as suggested; three starters, two mains, and four wines. Unfortunately, the dishes were overly salty, and lacked freshness. The so-called “seafood” udon was undercooked and had minimal, shriveled bits of seafood that I had to dig for - very misleading. Portions were small, and while the service was friendly, it was also quite slow. For the price, the experience feels unjustified - the quality simply doesn’t match the hype or the cost. If I’m paying a premium price, I expect premium food.
Anson V — Google review
I visited recently and the experience the team at Bentoteca provided was nothing short of astounding. I felt very welcome and well looked after. If you enjoy the theatre of watching the chefs at work, then reserve a seat at the counter which faces into the kitchen! I opted for the omakase menu and the sommelier selection wine paring. Everything I was served was brilliant. Artfully plated, with the quality of the ingredients shining through from start to finish. Be prepared, as the omakase is a LOT of food but if you have a decent appetite, it’s entirely worth going for this. Grazie mille for the superb experience!
Jake P — Google review
It was a great dining experience here! We had the omakase menu and every dish was chef’s kiss! The 2 rounds of starters were fabulous! We love every tuna dish and the chicken & eel skewer too! Service was really remarkable, very personable and friendly! Will definitely visit if I am ever in Milan again.
Daphne W — Google review
We got so excited to visit Bentoteca after some recommendations online, but only to leave really disappointed. I don’t want this review to take away from the good dishes we did have, as well as the service which was brilliant. The wine offering was wonderful, with multiple choices given and a full in depth description of each bottle expertly given by the wait staff. The wine was complex as stated and one of the best bottles I’ve had in Milan. We ordered 4 shared starters between us and a main each as recommended. We started with a Tuna Tartare which wasn’t to my wife’s taste but I enjoyed it. She isn’t a big sushi fan so this wasn’t taken in to consideration when reviewing, it is what it is, we try things. The second course arrived which was a chicken Karaage. This was again, very good! Third course was a Wagyu Sando which was easily the best part of the meal. The other starter we ordered was the mushrooms. For reference we absolutely adore mushrooms in every form. If there’s a mushroom dish on the menu there might be 2 orders of it going in. Big mushroom people. The mushrooms didn’t remotely meet the criteria that this restaurant is supposed to set out. They were chewy, lacked flavour and generally had an unwelcoming texture. I’d argue they were a little chunky for the dish? I hope that makes sense. This takes us to the main. I ordered the Wagyu with Monfish liver. It was solid enough but not outstanding. Lacked something but not remotely enough to complain about. I did enjoy it to a degree. 40 euros for a small main like this stung but look, it wasn’t bad it is what it is. Then that leads me to my wife’s tuna steak. I’m not one to complain. If I am I’ll likely leave 5 stars and say ‘this is what I’d prefer’ or ‘this is what I’d hope would be better’ and appreciate things could be worked on. This was one of the worst Tuna steaks I’ve ever tasted. The quality was so poor and I appreciate we’re near the dolomites in Italy, but it seriously lacked the level I was expecting here. My wife initially tasted and turned her face, and admittedly I thought she had maybe put herself off after the very first course, but this was far from the case. To us a tuna steak should come out a little pink and be very meaty in taste but this was the most ‘fishy’ tasting tuna I’d ever tasted. Think John West style tuna taste. It was grey, and arguably tasted a bit old. We complained and the waiter passed on our message. We ate possibly 1/3rd of it. The bill arrived and the tuna was still on the bill, which was a little disappointing. When we complained we made sure to let the staff know that it was our only gripe (I did mention the mushrooms but if the tuna was good I’d imagine I’d have said nothing) and yet still it was on there. We apologised to the waiter for the fuss (he was lovely, no qualms there), and made our way to the front. The member of staff at the front apologised and took €15 from the €230 bill and let us know that the tuna was ‘frozen today’ but he would have to charge us. These things happen. The chef’s in that kitchen will know significantly more about food and cooking than I ever will, and mistakes do happen But when I go to a restaurant that has been hyped up as much as this, that is literally known for its tuna dishes, and receive something that poor, I can’t help but mention it. A real shame. Hopefully others have a better experience than we did.
Chris T — Google review
People here know what they doing and they do it very well, it’s been years and still is my favorite. Bentoteca likes to yolk together consistencies and textures such as that of marinated cow heart and tuna chiai (in picture), or that of bone marrow and fermented shrimps, a masterpiece of their menu. I also really appreciate the use of every part of the tuna which is present in many cuts, I had the tuna head with giardiniera is really a sweet treat. The price is Milanese price but I had a big lunch given the skills of the team - which is very nice to watch at work from the counter - the wine selection and the menu as an evident research with a solid file rouge. It is a satisfaction to go eat there. This is the place I suggest to friends but also where I go when I want to gift myself a dinner. Thank you!

I’m ABSOLUTELY amazed by this restaurant !!! All of the staff are friendly, welcoming and professional for asking my food allergies in advance. The atmosphere is relaxing and even for dining alone (not all Michelin restaurants are friendly and good arrange to solo diner) The nature wine pairing is awesome as some bottle of them are not easily found in Milan. Overall, it’s way more higher than the average. I been trying a lot of Michelin restaurants and few could make me not feel greasy, the chef’s pairing from first course to dessert are totally fresh. Best Japanese restaurant I ever had in Milan, love it so much🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
